Thu, 03/26/2026 - 9:40pm

Following the dramatic exit of his character, Marco Rios, from General Hospital, actor Adrian Anchondo took to Instagram to share a heartfelt farewell to the ABC soap and its fans.

In a post on Instagram, Anchondo shared behind-the-scenes moments along with a tribute to his time on the show.

Anchondo began by reflecting on his journey and honoring his mother. “I started this journey with a story about my mother, how she was with me in spirit at my screen test for Marco, hiding in the compact she used to do her make up in while she watched soap operas on the couch,” he wrote.

He continued, “Now, I know she is looking down and proud of me for all the work I’ve done in the past year on one of the best shows ever created. She is proud of me for showing up every day and leading with kindness and respect, for fighting through my insecurities and anxiety, and for letting my heart shine through a character that had questionable intentions 😈❤️”

Beyond his personal journey, Anchondo highlighted the significance of his presence in Port Charles, “I’m also proud of myself for doing the work, for representing the LGBTQI and Latino community, and for constantly recognizing the magic that every single person on the show creates,” he wrote.

Anchondo also addressed fans’ reaction to his character’s exit. “I know fans are sad (believe me I’m still grieving) but I’m just one small piece in a much bigger picture. This isn’t about me, it’s about what’s best for the story. I can’t believe the amount of love I’ve received especially in the last few days. I hope I made you proud,” he wrote, adding, “To my queer fans, don’t be discouraged, we will keep spreading our love and fighting for that happy ending.”

He also thanked those behind the scenes, including ABC and Disney, as well as casting director Mark Teschner and executive producer Frank Valentini.

Anchondo also paid tribute to his partner, Colton Little (who plays Andrew Donovan on Days of Our Lives), thanking him for ‘running lines’ and ‘holding me through the sad parts.’

He continued by thanking his family and co-stars for their support, writing,  “Thank you to my Grandma and cousins for cheering me on.
Thank you to the amazing cast especially Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) for your wisdom and kindness Carlo Rota (Jenz Sidwell) for your support, guidance and friendship, and of course to my amazing friend Van Hansis (Lucas Jones) for holding my hand in more ways than one- you made it easy to fall in love with you.”

He added, “That’s a wrap on Marco! I hope everyone loved him as much as I did. We went out with a bang 🤩”

Anchondo concluded by teasing what’s next, writing, “On to the next big thing ❤️”

General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC and weeknights on Hulu.

Noah Wyle's Wife Sara Joins Him on 'The Pitt' Next Week

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 9:29pm

It's a family affair on next week's episode of The Pitt!

Noah Wyle is turning his hit medical drama into the family business, with his wife, Sara Wyle, set to guest star on Episode 13 of the HBO Max series' second season.

Nothing is yet known about Sara's character's story arc beyond the fact that she'll be playing an ER patient named Ashley Davis, but an exclusive sneak peek shared by TVLine shows her hooked up to a cardiac monitor, which helps the doctors check for any irregularities in her heart's rate and rhythm. There are countless reasons a person could need this kind of assessment, so it's impossible to guess about her condition.

Who Is Sara Wyle?

Sara Wyle has been married to The Pitt star and executive producer Noah Wyle since June 7, 2014, but she's also done a little bit of acting before.

What Is Sara Wyle Known For?

While Sara is not an actress by trade, she has appeared in episodes of Nip/Tuck and Californication, along with a few other projects. Her hubby even directed her in her last show before The Pitt, an episode of Leverage: Redemption. She also stepped out in support of members of SAG-AFTRA during the actors' strike of 2023.

Beyond her acting projects, she also describes herself as a singer and a "pancake flipper" on her social media.

Do Noah and Sara Wyle Have Kids?

The couple welcomed a daughter named Frances in 2015, but they keep her mostly out of the limelight. In fact, they themselves rarely offer glimpses into their private lives, though Sara often accompanies Noah on the red carpet.

Noah also shares daughter Auden, 20, and son Owen, 23, with his ex-wife, Tracy Warbin.

Who Does Sara Wyle Play on 'The Pitt'?

Sara Wyle has been cast as Ashley Davis, a patient in the emergency room at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. There aren't yet any details about her role beyond that, and unfortunately, the trailer for the episode in question failed to reveal anything at all about Sara's time on set.

Who Plays Mr. Cohen on 'The Pitt?' Where You Recognize This Familiar Actor From

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 9:27pm

Captain Cragen, what are you doing here!?

Another head-scratchingly familiar guest star made his debut on The Pitt this week, portraying Mr. Eddie Cohen, the elderly husband of one of the latest patients in the emergency room at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center.

Chances are, you immediately locked onto Dann Florek's face when his character accompanied his wife's stretcher as she was guided into her hospital room by the EMTs who transported her, who reported she was involved in a "very low speed" accident in which she was struck by a slow-moving vehicle and fell to the ground, bruising her hip.

He quickly became a patient too after staff realized he was behind the wheel of the vehicle, with the driver swearing the car "wasn't even moving" and his wife certain he had backed into her. Doctors uncovered an unexpected degradation to his baseline status, thanks to a combination of medications he was prescribed that caused him to lose his balance, which the script implies may have caused him to not realize the car was moving.

What Is Dann Florek Known For?

Most notably, Florek portrays Captain Donald 'Don' Cragen in the Law & Order universe, first appearing on the flagship series beginning in 1990, and later swinging by for a few episodes of Law & Order: Organized Crime. He's also been featured on hundreds of episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

You may also know his face from one of his many single-episode appearances on shows like The Equalizer, Matlock, 21 Jump Street, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. He enjoyed a three-episode arc on Roseanne, and almost two dozen episodes of L.A. Law in the ‘90s.

Florek's arc emotionally depicted the impacts of aging and healthcare on a person's independence, as he fought to remain at home with his wife despite concerns from his daughter and providers that it may not be safe for them to continue living on their own.

Who Else Is Guest-Starring on 'The Pitt'?

Next up, star Noah Wyle's wife Sara Wyle makes an appearance, set to debut on the popular series in the next episode as another of the season's many patients. Unfortunately, little is known about her role yet, but you can expect to see her on your screens in Season 2, Episode 13.

In the same episode, The West Wing's Mary McCormack will appear as neurosurgeon Dr. Linda Conley, while Cosby Show alum Geoffrey Owens is said to be appearing soon as a cardiothoracic surgeon.

Jeff Kober also marked a big guest spot, appearing as Dr. Robby's friend Duke across several episodes this season, and fans were gobsmacked to see Glee alum Max Adler as a friend of Nurse Emma's attacker.

Celebrity Favorites You Can Actually Visit Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Kirk Fisher / Shutterstock.com

Casino News recently looked at destinations with the most celebrity sightings. Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, tops the list. With over 25 A-listers spotted in recent months, this coastal paradise combines stunning beaches, lively nightlife and plenty of five-star accommodations.

Palma de Mallorca, Spain, is a destination attracting high-profile visitors, from Michelle Obama to members of the Spanish Royal Family. While a night in a five-star hotel can run close to $1,000, the island offers charming streets, historic architecture and Mediterranean cuisine that make the splurge worth it.

Meanwhile, Mykonos, Greece, is perfect for travelers seeking sun, sea and a lively party scene. With slightly lower nightly rates than Palma, it's a hotspot for younger celebrities who want both privacy and nightlife.

For those craving tranquility over crowds, Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos offers exclusivity, pristine beaches and luxurious resorts. Here, high-end travelers, including the Kardashians and Drake, enjoy privacy, which naturally drives up the nightly costs—but the serene, crystal-clear waters make it a dream escape.

Back in Mexico, Tulum offers a more affordable celebrity experience, combining coastal charm with eco-chic resorts.

From Mexico to Europe and the Caribbean, these 2026 hotspots blend luxury, adventure and accessibility.

Whether you're chasing the perfect Instagram shot or just want to indulge in sun and scenery, these destinations prove that you don't have to be famous to enjoy a celebrity-worthy vacation. Pack your bags, plan ahead and get ready to explore the spots everyone is talking about this year.

Trader Joe's Just Revived a Beloved Pastry Item After Nearly a Decade—and Fans Are Rushing to Try It

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 9:05pm

Trader Joe's has a way of bringing back fan-favorite items when you least expect it—and this time, it's a pastry that some shoppers haven't seen in years. If you've ever spotted cannelés at a bakery (or tried making them yourself), you already know they're not exactly easy to come by, which makes this freezer find feel like a bit of a steal, especially at $5.49 per box.

Now, after nearly a decade, Trader Joe's has brought them back—and shoppers are already making room in their carts. Between the nostalgic factor and the fact that these are typically a pain to make from scratch, it's no surprise people are eager to grab a box (or a few) before they disappear again.

😋😋SIGN UP to get delicious recipes, handy kitchen hacks & more in our daily Pop Kitchen newsletter🍳🍔

Trader Joe's Cannelés Are Back—Here's What to Know

Trader Joe's

Trader Joe's Cannelés are a French-style pastry that originated in Bordeaux, traditionally baked in copper molds lined with beeswax. The result is a very specific texture: a deeply caramelized, slightly chewy outer shell with a soft, custardy center.

The version now back in Trader Joe's freezers sticks pretty close to that idea, even with a more modern production method. Instead of copper molds, they're made using custom silicone molds, which helps streamline the process while still delivering that signature contrast between crisp edges and a tender interior.

Classic cannelés tend to have a strong rum-forward profile, but Trader Joe's pulls that back a bit, letting the vanilla come through more clearly. Each box comes with several small pastries, designed to be warmed in the oven for about 10 to 12 minutes before serving.

Related: United's 'Chef's Table' Collaboration Might Change How You Feel About Plane Food

How to Serve and Enjoy Them

One of the biggest selling points here is convenience. Cannelés are known for being tricky to make at home. Getting that perfectly caramelized crust without overbaking the inside takes some practice, so having a ready-to-heat version makes them a lot more approachable.

Trader Joe's recommends popping them in a 350°F oven straight from the freezer, then letting them cool slightly before eating. That quick bake helps bring back the texture, especially the contrast between the crisp exterior and soft center.

From there, you can keep things simple or dress them up a bit. They pair well with coffee or tea, making them an easy option for a low-effort dessert or a slightly upgraded breakfast. Some shoppers have even suggested adding spreads or toppings like fruit preserves for extra flavor, but they're just as easy to enjoy on their own.

Related: KFC Just Brought Back a Fan-Favorite Deal Just in Time for Bracket Season

What Shoppers Are Saying View this post on Instagram

On Instagram, some shoppers were immediately thrilled to see them back, especially those who remember the original version. A few comments called it a favorite dessert that's usually hard to find, while others mentioned stocking up before they inevitably disappear again.

At the same time, there's been some feedback on size and texture. Several people pointed out that the pastries are on the smaller side, and a few noted that the outer layer can be a bit thicker than expected if they're overbaked. Still, plenty of shoppers described them as rich, buttery and worth trying, especially when warmed up properly.

Overall, this limited-time find will most likely sell out quickly. If you're curious or already a fan, it might be worth grabbing a box while they're still in stores.

Neil Patrick Harris’ Twins Steal the Spotlight in Rare Family Photos

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 8:54pm

Neil Patrick Harris had fans swooning over his latest post.

The How I Met Your Mother star proved that time flies so fast after showing a glimpse of his family’s recent vacation.

The award-winning actor took a break from the Hollywood spotlight and embarked on an Asian adventure with his husband, David Burtka and their 15-year-old twins Harper Grace and Gideon Scott.

Neil Patrick Harris’ Instagram post shared the highlights of their trip, including visits to cultural landmarks like the famous reclining Buddha at Wat Po, the Emerald Buddha, exploring Thai cuisine and enjoying a date night at a drag show.

“Thailand Spring Break, Pt. 1: Bangkok. Our first time in Thailand, too many singular experiences to name them all,” he captioned the post, along with the summary of activities that they did.

However, amid the highlights, fans noticed subtle details on the What’s in the Box? host’s recent post.

View this post on Instagram

Beyond the warm welcome of Thai fans and the flood of must-visit recommendations, fans were quick to notice how much the twins have grown.

“Gosh, those babies are already teenagers,” one wrote.

“Gosh, your kids have grown up so fast! Enjoy Thailand, kaa,” a commenter added.

Fans remain in awe at how much they have changed.

“My goodness! How is it possible Gideon and Harper are looking soooooo grown-up?!?! Well done, Dads!!!” a follower remarked.

The same goes for another who said, “Lovely family! The twins are all grown up!

“Oh my! Your kids are teenagers now! Enjoy Thailand!” a commenter echoed.

Harris and Burtka welcomed their fraternal twins on October 12, 2010 via surrogate.

The Smurfs star announced the happy news on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “On 10/12, Gideon Scott and Harper Grace entered the Burtka-Harris fold. All of us are happy, healthy, tired and a little pukey."

Though their family isn’t traditional, Neil Patrick Harris believes it’s essential for the kids to have a clear and simple understanding of their family roles.

“I think when our kids got to the age when they were having reasonable conversations where they’re asking lots of ‘why’ questions, then it seemed [important] to be able to have a real clear-cut [identity] of who their daddy is — that he’s my husband, it was easier than partner or boyfriend,” he told The View in 2014 as cited by PEOPLE.

Beyond their family vacation trips, the twins have made cameo appearances in various projects, notably A Series of Unfortunate Events, in which Harris portrays the menacing Count Olaf.

Why Network Pulled the Plug on 'Everybody Loves Raymond' Spinoff

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 8:53pm

Everybody Loves Raymond was one of the top sitcoms of the 1990s. Starring Ray Romano as the titular character, the CBS series ran for nine seasons before coming to an end in 2005.

Following the series finale, creator Phil Rosenthal pushed for a spinoff series focusing on Raymond's older brother Robert (played by Brad Garrett) and his wife, Amy (played by Rosenthal's real-life wife, Monica Horan).

"They were established on the show," Rosenthal said during a Tuesday, March 24, episode of Dinner’s on Me with Jesse Tyler Ferguson. "And not only that, but her family was established on the show."

Fred Willard, Georgia Engel, and Chris Elliott played Amy's dad, mom, and brother, respectively, for 30 episodes of the series.

"You know why they said they wouldn't give us more than a pilot?” Rosenthal continued. "Everyone was over 40. They said the business changed during the nine years of Raymond."

Romano, Garrett, and Horan reunited with co-stars Patricia Heaton, Madylin Sweeten, and Sullivan Sweeten in November 2025 to celebrate the show's 30th anniversary.

"I tried for a 20 year reunion and I tried for a 25 year reunion, but I can only say that the newest leadership at CBS was into it, and so that's why we're here today," Rosenthal told People at the time.

Prince William Praises Lindsey Vonn's 'Resilience' in Personal Letter After Her Crash

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 8:51pm

Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn shared details of the kind letter Prince William sent after her crash during the Milano Cortina Winter Games in February.

Vonn, 41, suffered a complex tibia fracture, a broken right ankle, and severe compartment syndrome, an emergency condition where built-up pressure prevents blood flow and damages nerves and muscles, after crashing 13 seconds into her run during the women’s downhill race on February 8. She required emergency surgery to prevent amputation of her left leg.

The American alpine skier spoke about the traumatic accident for the first time in an interview with Vanity Fair published on March 26. Vonn shared a few famous faces who reached out to send well wishes, including the Prince of Wales, 43, who hoped she'd make a “smooth and quick recovery.”

“I was watching your recent accident in Cortina and wanted to write to send you my very best wishes,” William wrote to Vonn in a typed letter dated February 16, a photo of which was shown on Vanity Fair’s Instagram page.

“As you have often said, in downhill skiing, there are just a few inches that can determine the difference between a clean run and a serious crash,” William's note continued. “The way you wrote about stepping into the start gate with courage and no regrets says so much about your resilience, and is one of the many reasons why you have been an inspiration to so many people throughout your illustrious career.”

William sent Vonn his “very best wishes” in handwritten blue ink on the bottom of the page.

Vonn was touched by the personal note and said she “offered to ski with him and his family if they ever want to,” noting it would still be a while before she would be heading down the slopes.

Many other athletes and celebrities rallied to support Vonn after her tragic accident, and she “leans” on the kind words to get through the “tough days.”

“My life changed from one extreme to the other in 13 seconds,” Vonn said. “I went from being in the best shape of my life with great chances of winning an Olympic medal to, you know, in a hospital bed in a wheelchair. My support system was everything, and I feel so lucky to have so many people who really cared about me.”

As for William, he and wife Kate Middleton are both passionate about sports and are known to take private ski trips to the French Alps with their three kids, George, 12, Charlotte, 10, and Louis, 7.

Skiing has been a longtime family tradition for the British royals. Their winter getaways were so special, Prince Harry recalled his “wonderful memories” of the slopes with his brother and mother, Princess Diana, in his 2023 memoir, Spare.  He even recalled talking “in all seriousness” about working at the ski resort in Austria “where Mummy used to take us.”

Hilary Duff Reveals the Unexpected Way She Relates to Lizzie McGuire

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 8:41pm

One of Hilary Duff's most iconic roles is middle school student, Lizzie McGuire, in the Disney Channel series of the same name, which had a two-season run until 2004.

In the March 26 episode of Hot Ones, hosted by Sean Evans, Duff shared that she identified with Lizzie while filming the show and the 2003 film, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, as a young teenager. During the interview, Evans asked if there were any "kind of normal kid milestones that you experienced vicariously through your character" during the production of Lizzie McGuire. Duff replied, "Bra shopping," in reference to a season 1 episode, wherein Lizzie loudly tells her mother, Jo (Hallie Todd), she wants a bra in a department store.

Duff then said that she believes "a lot of themes" from the Disney Channel series "were actually happening in [her] life as well."

"Social dynamics and stuff within my friend groups outside of work," explained Duff during the Hot Ones interview.

The 38-year-old then said she appreciates when fans tell her they related to Lizzie.

"It's so nice to hear people's experience with the show or like how it helped them or formed them, whether it be like her style or not quite fitting in anywhere. And I also kind of resonate with that. I feel like a very big dork dressed in a cool girl's outfit a lot of the time," said the "So Yesterday" singer.

Duff discussed filming the Lizzie McGuire bra shopping scene during a March 2026 interview withHarper's Bazaar. She explained that she was around "13 years old" when she filmed the moment and felt "so embarrassed" about saying Lizzie's line, "I want a bra," while "in front of [her] entire crew."

"I had to say it loud and over and over and over again. And now I love it and it's so sweet," said the mother of four while speaking to the publication.

Iconic ’80s Actor Back on Set After Being Evicted for Over $59K in Unpaid Rent

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 8:41pm

The legendary ‘80s actor has returned to work following a turbulent couple of months that saw him lose his Los Angeles home amid mounting financial and legal troubles.

Rourke's rep Kimberly Hines confirmed to TMZ on Thursday, March 26 that the actor is currently in Utah filming Sol Hershowitz's Guide to Extraterrestrial Life, where he's landed one of the lead roles. He'll be playing a paranoid, ex-military conspiracist who claims to have stolen alien technology from the government.

Hines, who is also an executive producer on the project, says she's thrilled to have him back on set with production now underway. Onset photos obtained from the outlet show Rourke sitting through full hair and makeup, eyes closed and completely focused.

The return to work comes after a very public and difficult few months. A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge entered a judgment on March 9 in favor of Rourke's landlord in an unlawful detainer case, officially ruling him evicted from his Drexel Avenue home. The judgment was entered by default, and as a result the actor's rental agreement was canceled and his lease forfeited. Court documents had previously alleged he owed a whopping $59,100 in back rent, with a three-day pay-or-vacate notice served back in December.

By January, Rourke was photographed moving belongings out of the property. When a GoFundMe appeared online around the same time, he was quick to shut it down. "I wouldn't ask for no f**king charity. I'd rather stick a gun up my a** and pull the trigger," he said in an Instagram video. The home itself was reported to be in serious disrepair, with black mold, no running water, rodents, and water damage that left much of his furniture unsalvageable.

Still, something of a silver lining emerged from the chaos. The renewed public attention reportedly brought a wave of new opportunities, with Hines noting that "people are emailing him movie offers now, which is great because nobody's been calling him for a long time." And it looks like Hollywood followed through.

Amanda Peet and Hoda Kotb Bond Over Surviving Breast Cancer in New Interview

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 8:26pm

Amanda Peet and Hoda Kotb are opening up about the reality of being diagnosed with breast cancer.

Peet and Kotb, alongside Craig Melvin, not only discussed Peet's latest projects, Fantasy Life and YourFriends & Neighbors, but also their shared experiences with breast cancer.

"You know, I didn't really have an agenda,” Peet said on Today on Thursday, March 26 of revealing her diagnosis publicly. "Maybe it was a way to just kind of cope and contain what was insanity — this kind of intersection of all of these big life moments."

Peet shared her diagnosis in a personal essay for The New Yorker on Saturday, March 21. Peet wrote about being informed of her stage 1 cancer diagnosis while her parents were in hospice.

Kotb then spoke about her own breast cancer diagnosis back in 2007, sharing with Peet, "When you hear the words 'breast cancer,' and I mean it happened to me a while ago, but I do know the feeling of hearing the words. But now I feel like it's sort of different — you know, that there is a clear path forward." At the time of her diagnosis, Kotb underwent a mastectomy and has been cancer-free ever since.

Peet expressed that she was "extremely lucky," as she was diagnosed with a less aggressive form of the disease. She also said, "And obviously I have great health insurance because of SAG, and my husband and I have a nanny, so there were a lot of people around to take care of me, but not everybody has that. So I've also been giving that a lot of thought."

Peet added that her diagnosis is still "worrisome" as her cancer is lobular which is "understudied."

"So we need more research, and I think that's going to be a critical thing as we go forward," Peet said.

At the end of Peet's segment, Kotb expressed to the actress, "You're such a lovely person. Like, I feel like I want to be friends with you right now while you're talking," to which Peet said, "I want to be friends with you, too."

Joy-Anna Duggar Breaks Silence on Brother Joseph's Arrest & Child Molestation Charges

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 8:24pm

Former Counting On and 19 Kids and Counting star Joseph Duggar and his wife, Kendra Duggar, were both recently arrested and face serious charges—and Joy-Anna Duggar was the latest member of the TLC family to issue a statement.

On March 18, the Bay County Sheriff’s Office in Florida arrested and charged Joseph, 31, with lewd and lascivious behavior—molestation of a victim less than 12 years old, and lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by a person 18 years or older, the BCSO announced in a news release shared on Facebook.

Days later, on March 20, Kendra, 27, was arrested and charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment, according to a news release from the Tontitown Police Department in Arkansas. Joseph faces these same charges on top of his child molestation charges.

Fast-forward to Thursday, March 26, and Joy-Anna, 28, finally spoke out about the allegations against Joe and his wife. She took to her Instagram Stories with a direct message to her followers.

"What has come out about my brother is heartbreaking and deeply disturbing," Joy wrote. "My heart is with the victim, and I am grieved by the pain and harm caused."

She continued, "I have been a wreck this week and am taking time to process. I have a few pre-filmed commitments that I have to post, but I will be taking some much-needed time with my family. Thank you for your prayers."

The alleged incidents involved Joseph and a 9-year-old girl during a 2020 family vacation in Florida.

“The victim reported Duggar repeatedly asked her to sit on his lap. As the vacation continued, he also asked her to sit next to him on a couch and covered them with a blanket, the BCSO news release detailed. “During this time, Duggar manipulated the victim’s underwear and grazed her genitals. Duggar would also continue to rub his hands on her thighs. The victim stated Duggar eventually apologized for his actions and the incidents stopped after the apology.”

Meanwhile, Kendra's arrest came after an automatic home study triggered by Joseph's arrest and charges.

"Apparently, they had two rooms where the lock of the doorknob was on the outside instead of inside," a source with knowledge of the case told Us Weekly. "They arrested her and took her kids for that, saying it’s evidence that she wrongly detains her kids.”

As of writing, neither Joseph nor Kendra has released a statement.

If you or someone you know has been a victim of sexual assault, help is available 24 hours a day through RAINN’s National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-4673.

7 Subtle Signs Your Mother Is Actually Jealous of You, According to a Psychologist

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 8:13pm

Like any relationship, a person’s relationship with their mother can be complicated. You might have good moments, such as meaningful nighttime conversations, swapping dating stories while getting your nails done or enjoying a shopping trip. You might have a good mom who teaches you how to regulate your emotions, validates you and shows affection.

You might also experience difficult moments, like feeling as though you aren’t “good enough” in her eyes. You might have a codependent relationship with your mother in which you struggle to see each other as autonomous beings. This is not to speak ill of moms or kids, but to say that if you have a not-so-great relationship, you’re not alone.

Some complicated mother-child dynamics can be more subtle, too, like having a mother who’s jealous of you but not super obvious about it. If it’s more subtle, you might self-gaslight, thinking you’re “crazy” or a “bad child” for even guessing something like that about your mom. If so—and even if the jealousy is more obvious—Parade is here to help. We asked a psychologist to validate your concerns by sharing seven subtle signs of a jealous mother, an explanation as to what’s going on in her mind, when her feelings are jealousy versus resentment (they’re different!) and how to deal.

Why Would a Mother Be Jealous of Her Child?

First and foremost, a mother’s jealousy is rarely about the child, but the mother’s past and emotions.

“I view maternal jealousy through the lens of intergenerational trauma and attachment theory,” says Dr. Golee Abrishami, PhD, a psychologist and the VP of Clinical Care at Octave.

She’s worked with clients for almost 20 years and has found four main drivers of maternal jealousy:

The grief of unmet needs

Being a parent can remind a person of their childhood, which can bring up difficult feelings, such as envy and deprivation.

“Witnessing a child receive the emotional warmth, opportunities or resources that the mother was denied can trigger a subconscious sense of grief and resentment,” Dr. Abrishami explains. “From her perspective, the child’s abundance serves as a painful reminder of her own scarcity.”

For example, you may have a more loving family or more financial security than she did, among other things.

The mother-daughter mirror

While a mother can be jealous of her son, there are unique dynamics between a mother and daughter that can increase the risk of jealousy. That’s because daughters are often seen as an extension of the mother. This may show up as a mother who dresses her daughter in matching clothes or encourages her to have the same interests.

“But although moms tend to try to shape their daughters to be like them, something odd happens when it actually works, and especially if it works better than the mom intended,” Dr. Abrishami explains. “When a daughter surpasses her jealous mother in beauty, success or status, the mother may experience this as a biological replacement or a loss of her own identity, leading to competition rather than support.”

In other words, your mom wants you to be similar to her but not “better.”

Narcissism as a defense mechanism

A mother who has narcissistic tendencies may view her child as a tool rather than, well, a child. In her mind, a child’s purpose is to boost her ego and image—and the child may not act in the ways she wants them to.

“If the child develops a strong, independent identity that outshines the mother, the child becomes a threat to the mother’s fragile self-esteem, causing the mother to use envy or demeaning behavior to regain control,” Dr. Abrishami explains.

Emotional dysregulation

Jealousy is an emotion, so a mother who is less able to manage her other emotions may also be less likely to manage her jealousy well.

“These parents often rely on their children for their sense of worth,” Dr. Abrishami states. “When the child thrives independently, the mother feels a sense of abandonment and reacts with jealousy to protect her own emotions.”

7 Subtle Signs Your Mother Is Jealous of You, According to a Psychologist

Your mother’s jealousy may present subtly. Dr. Abrishami shares seven signs to look out for:

1. Minimizing achievements

Have you ever experienced a big win, either as a child or an adult? Maybe you won an award at school or just got a new job, and you can’t wait to share your success with your family. However, your mom doesn’t respond with the excitement and praise that you (understandably) need from her.

“She quickly shifts the conversation or attributes your success to external factors, like luck,” Dr. Abrishami says. “This indicates an inability to tolerate your competence because it highlights her own perceived shortcomings or unfulfilled potential.”

Related: People Who Weren’t Told ‘I’m Proud of You’ in Childhood Often Develop These 9 Traits as Adults, Psychologists Say

2. Backhanded compliments

Some compliments don’t feel quite right, and that can be because they're backhanded.

“A jealous mom may still compliment you, but they’ll include a subtle jab at your appearance or lifestyle choices,” Dr. Abrishami says. “This allows her to express underlying resentment while maintaining a facade of being a supportive parent.”

For example, she might say something like, “You actually did well” or “I could never be brave enough to wear that.”

Related: 4 Common ‘Negging’ Phrases—and How To Respond, According to Psychologists

3. One-upping milestones

A jealous mom may also respond to your achievements or milestones by sharing a bigger example from her past.

“This behavior signals that she views attention as a finite resource and feels threatened when you are the focus,” Dr. Abrishami notes. “Proud moms share attention freely and generously, but jealous moms are quick to steal the spotlight from their own kids.”

4. Sabotage disguised as concern

To prohibit you from even succeeding in the first place, a jealous mother may discourage you from pursuing an activity or goal.

“For example, if you are talking to her about possibly getting a master’s degree but she didn’t go to college, she may focus more on the financial debt and inconvenience of going back to school rather than focusing on the opportunities that come with higher education,” Dr. Abrishami explains.

It’s fair to address both the pros and cons of big decisions like those, but is your mom focusing on the negative without giving the positive some light, too?

5. Emotional withdrawal during success

Sometimes, moms may become distant or quiet, or suddenly develop a physical ailment. If that keeps happening when you celebrate major life events—like marriage—she may be jealous.

“By disengaging, she forces you to pivot from your joy to her needs,” Dr. Abrishami notes. “She also may get attention from others, driving it away from you and towards herself.”

6. Severely critical

Harsh feedback and making you feel helpless—especially when delivered under the guise of “being the only person who will be completely truthful with you”—is another red flag.

“This behavior might look like a mom saying something unnecessarily hurtful and following it up with, ‘I only tell you that because I love you,’” Dr. Abrishami shares. “When a mom does this, she’s abusing her role as mom to degrade your self-confidence and maintain a power balance.”

7. Unfavorable comparisons

Jealous moms may also employ triangulation, or bringing a third person into your two-person relationship, to control you.

“She frequently compares you to siblings or friends who are supposedly doing ‘better’ in life,” Dr. Abrishami states. “This triangulation keeps you in a state of perpetual competition, ensuring you remain focused on gaining her approval rather than enjoying your own growth.”

How To Tell if Your Mother Is Jealous of You or Resents You

While similar and often used interchangeably, jealousy and resentment are different. Envy is more about competition, while resentment often indicates a perceived cost.

“[Jealousy] occurs when a mother views her child as a peer or a rival who has something she wants, like youth, beauty, professional success or a better support system and a higher quality of emotional support,” Dr. Abrishami explains. “[Resentment] is often a byproduct of the mother feeling that her own life, dreams or freedom were sacrificed to raise the child.”

Put another way, she continues, an envious mother might say, “When I was your age, I had to work a lot harder than that,” and a resentful mother might say, “Sometimes, I wonder who I could’ve been if I hadn’t put myself aside for the family.”

How To Deal With a Jealous Mother

If it’s not obvious already, dealing with a jealous mother is no easy feat. We all deserve mothers who are celebratory of us and warm and loving to us. Biologically, we’re wired to want and need relationships with our parents to feel cared for and safe. And, if your mother can’t give you that, you may have to adjust your expectations.

“Dealing with a jealous mother requires a transition from seeking her approval to protecting your own emotional well-being,” Dr. Abrishami says. She encourages the following strategies to manage this complicated dynamic:

  • Limit the information you share about your successes or milestones to reduce her opportunities to minimize them.
  • Seek validation from other sources, such as friends, mentors and therapists.
  • Practice emotionally detaching from your interactions. For example, remind yourself that her backhanded compliments and demeaning language are reflections of her internal struggles, not your character.
  • Set firm boundaries around the conversations you two have. On that note, you’re allowed to end interactions or change the subject to protect yourself.
  • Talk to a therapist who can help you understand and strengthen relationships, figure out how to set and stick to boundaries, boost your self-esteem and encourage you to take care of yourself.

“Bottom line, your mom’s reactions shouldn’t be a source of stress in your life,” Dr. Abrishami concludes.

Over 10 Million Grill Brushes Sold at Home Depot Recalled for This Serious Reason—Here's What to Know

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 7:45pm

If you ask me what I plan to be doing this summer, outside of disassociating from our increasingly dystopian reality, I’ll probably answer with some variation of what I'm cooking on the grill. I can already picture firing up the Masterbuilt using all 1,150 square feet to make burgers, whole chickens, pizza, and maybe even dessert while simultaneously sipping on a paloma (or two) made with Poncho Fino's Mexican Candy-flavored tequila. Truly, nothing would bring me more joy, and odds are, with warmer weather finally upon us, you're getting prepared to hit the grill, too.

Whether you already have one or you're just starting to put together your outdoor cooking setup, you might find yourself browsing the grill section at Home Depot, grabbing all the tools you need to ensure your all-day brisket comes out a resounding success. Metal skewers for kebabs, tongs and sauce mops݀—you know, the works. But chief among all grilling necessities is the non-negotiable grill brush that helps keep your prized Kamado Joe looking just as good as new.

😋😋SIGN UP to get delicious recipes, handy kitchen hacks & more in our daily Pop Kitchen newsletter🍳🍔

Before you toss one into your cart, though, you might want to think twice. A recall of over 10 million grill brushes sold at Home Depot due to a significant health and safety risk was recently announced, and it’s a much more common problem than you might think. Grills and grilling accessories maker Nexgrill issued a voluntary recall for six models of its wire grill brushes after the U.S. Consumer Safety Product Commission received at least 68 reports of the wire bristles actually coming off and sticking to food or the grill.

Nexgrill Issues Voluntary Recall of 10.2 Million Wire Grill Brushes

U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission

The recall affects 10.2 million grill brushes sold at Home Depot stores and on its website from 2015 through 2026. The six models included in the recall are:

  • 19-inch Grill Brush, model number 530-0024
  • Grill Cleaning Brush with Scraper, model number 530-0024G
  • Long Handle Grill Brush, model number 530-0034
  • Grill Brush and Scraper, model number 530-0039
  • Grill Brush with Scrub Pad, model number 530-0041
  • Wood Handle Grill Brush, model number 530-0042

If you happen to have one of these models, it's recommended that you stop using them immediately and contact Nexgrill for a full refund in the form of a gift card. You can complete your claim here. The good news is that Nexgrill also sells safer, non-metal grill brushes that won't leave anything behind in your food or on your grill. Unfortunately, wire grill brushes, regardless of the brand, routinely have this issue, so it's best to avoid them and look for other options instead.

What to Clean Your Grill with Instead

You can rub a halved onion, lemon or potato on your grill before cooking to help loosen burnt-on residue; invest in a Grill Grate Brush from Grill Rescue; or simply make it a point to steam-clean your grill after each use to ensure there's minimal buildup next time. At least that way, there's one less step to do next time you're craving cedar-planked salmon with a grilled peach pico de gallo. Just make sure to save us a plate.
