Jeff Probst Shares an Update on His 'Survivor' Future Ahead of Season 50

Thu, 02/12/2026 - 1:01pm

Survivor fans, your host has spoken.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, published today, longtime show host Jeff Probst finally revealed not only if he’s staying with the Emmy-winning series beyond its landmark 50th season, but who he’d want to replace him.

“I'm telling you right now, there's no thought in my mind at all about leaving,” Probst said. “I love where the show is. I love our crew. I love the type of people that are applying. It's up in every category of ethnic diversity.”

Probst, who said he’s not locked into a contract, also shared that he has no doubt the show would continue to thrive without him. He even shared the kind of person he’d like to pass the torch to.

“You can't just hire some talking head for Survivor,” he said. “That would be a bad mistake. But if you hire somebody who has a point of view about humans and behavior and why we do the things we do, then they might bring a whole new point of view to it.”

He continued, “If you ask people about me, I'm interested in the hero's journey, the Joseph Campbell adventure of life that I believe all of us have stirring in our belly. And that Survivor is that call. Somebody else may come on and say, ‘We should center it more around challenges. And I'll tell you why.’ And maybe you have got a different game.”

As for the day when he does decide to snuff his torch, he said he still wants to remain an active part of the show in some capacity, perhaps showrunner or creative collaborator.

“This show has given me everything. I would never abandon Survivor. I would always be a part of it in any way if somebody wanted me,” he said.

Survivor: In the Hands of the Fans will feature 24 returning players, including fan favorites Cirie Fields, Ozzy Lusth, and Colby Donaldson. This season, there’s also a celebrity factor to take into account, with superfans Billie Eilish, Jimmy Fallon, MrBeast, and Zac Brown all being featured in unique roles.

“‘In the Hands of the Fans’ was the first idea that I wrote down as a title,” Probst told Parade at SCAD TVFest, referring to fans voting on a number of elements for season 50. “And I’ve met so many famous people through Survivor, people I’ve become friends with. So I was thinking, ‘Well, they’re fans. And just because they’re famous shouldn’t exclude them from being part of ‘In the Hands of the Fans.’”

Filmed again in Fiji’s Mamanuca Islands, the game show is sticking with the 26-day format (tweaked from 39 days back in 2021). The three-hour premiere airs Wednesday, Feb. 25, on CBS and streams on Paramount+.

Who Is Gaon Choi? Meet the Teenage Snowboarder

Thu, 02/12/2026 - 12:57pm

Gaon Choi is a South Korean snowboarding phenom who is taking the Milan Olympics by storm.

The 17-year-old was considered the biggest threat to Chloe Kim's chances of a three-peat in the Women's Halfpipe. Kim took home the gold in 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea and again in 2022 in Beijing.

During her first run of the Women's Halfpipe final on Thursday, February 12, Choi took a hard fall, landing upside down during her run.

Her third pass would put her at the top of the leaderboard, landing her her first Olympic gold medal.

Gaon Choi Trained With Chloe Kim

Choi took home the gold medal for her halfpipe performance as a young teen at the 2022 FIS Snowboarding Junior World Championships. The following year she won another gold medal at the Winter X Games XXVII.

"In the US and other countries, snowboard halfpipe is quite well-known, but not in Korea," she told Olympics.com ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics. "I want to introduce this sport more to my country through my performance at this Olympics. I also believe that enjoying the Games is just as important as achieving good results."

She added, "As I see myself as a highly skilled snowboarder, I hope people remember me as a someone who is very good at handling a snowboard. My aim is not only to perform impressive tricks but also to showcase pure snowboarding with very stable skills."

After Chloe's Winter X Games win, Kim took to social media to praise her protegé.

"She’s not so little anymore. I’ve known her for almost a decade, and now she’s doing big things. I feel like a proud Mom. The future of snowboarding's in good hands," she wrote, per AP News.

Fans Sent Prayers After Choi's Scary Fall

Social media was flooded with well-wishes for the young athlete.

"Prayers for Gaon Choi that fall was really scary I hope she’s ok," one fan tweeted.

"Really hope Gaon Choi ok after that horrific fall," another wrote.

"Really hope Gaon Choi is okay, poor kid," a third added.

Savannah Guthrie's Mom: TMZ Receives Second Note With 'Chilling' Words

Thu, 02/12/2026 - 12:46pm

TMZ has reportedly received another note in connection to the Nancy Guthrie case. Just one day after Harvey Levin said that someone sent a note for 1 Bitcoin in exchange for the would-be kidnapper's identity, another note has been sent. The first email was sent to the outlet after the FBI released images and videos of a subject who was at Nancy's home the night she went missing.

"I am not being taken seriously," the note reads, according to the outlet. TMZ said that the note, which was sent by email, included some "ominous statements" and noted that things have changed from Wednesday to Thursday. The outlet didn't share any additional details about what that might mean.

TMZ has confirmed that this second note was sent from the same person. This time, however, the person shared why they're requesting Bitcoin rather than going straight to the FBI with the tip.

Per TMZ, "He says he will need money to lay low after identifying the kidnapper for fear of retaliation." The person who sent the email also said that he was worried about being incriminated.

The outlet, calling the wording in the email "chilling," said the person warned that this will be their last attempt to help.

Guthrie has been missing since Sunday, February 1. Authorities believe that she may have been abducted from her Arizona home in the middle of the night. The Pima County Sheriff's Department has confirmed that there have been "new leads" in the case, though no suspects or persons of interest have been named.

Authorities detained one person—a man named Carlos Palazuelos—for nearly two hours of questioning before releasing him.

The Secret Ingredient for the Richest, Most Delicious Chocolate Cake

Thu, 02/12/2026 - 12:45pm

Few things in life can brighten up a day as effectively as a chocolate cake. Whether you prefer a layer cake with a silky smooth chocolate ganache and piped frosting or a simple sheet cake, it's hard to go wrong with this classic treat. Chocolate cake makes a perfect Valentine's Day treat, but it's also welcome pretty much any time of year.

But what if we told you that there was an easy way to seriously upgrade your chocolate cake with just one simple ingredient that you almost certainly already have in the house? Food pros, including Ina Garten herself, sign off on this trick—and it just might change your dessert life for good. Here's what you need to know about adding coffee to chocolate cake

What Does Coffee Do to Chocolate Cake?

At some point, we noticed that some of our favorite chocolate cakes, like the Devil's Food Cake by pastry chef and Serious Eats Editor Emeritus Stella Parks, and Beatty's Chocolate Cake, which is the legendary Ina Garten chocolate cake, had something in common: hot coffee added to the batter.

Related: The Popular $150 Chocolate Cake Recipe That's Worth Every Penny

After digging a little deeper (and trying plenty of chocolate cakes made with and without coffee), we found out that adding coffee to chocolate cake can help activate the baking soda, which helps your cake rise nice and tall, and the brew also helps bring out and deepen the flavor of the chocolate. Even though many recipes call for adding a full cup of strong black coffee to the recipe, the finished cake doesn't taste like coffee. It just tastes like the best version of itself—light, rich and so chocolatey.

😋😋 SIGN UP to get delicious recipes, handy kitchen hacks & more in our daily Parade Eats newsletter. 🍳🍔

How Do You Add Coffee to Chocolate Cake?

You can find a chocolate cake recipe (like the two above) that calls for adding coffee to the batter or you can sub out up to half of the water called for in other recipes for coffee. This even works with boxed chocolate cake mix, making it a fun and easy way to fancy up a shortcut ingredient. If you don't have brewed coffee handy, you can make some quickly using instant espresso.

Instant espresso is also a fun thing to whisk into chocolate sauces to deepen the flavor without adding liquid. Once you give this trick a shot (pun very much intended!) we suspect you'll never make your chocolate cake any other way again.

'Shrinking' Star Says Having Michael J. Fox on Set Is 'A Beautiful Thing'

Thu, 02/12/2026 - 12:44pm

Shrinking star Ted McGinley is star struck on his own set.

The actor, who was chatting about the third season of the Apple TV show on Today this week, got to talking about the cameo that Michael J. Fox made in the show's new season.

"I didn't have any scenes with Michael direct, but I've been circling Michael for many many years," McGinley, who plays Derek on the show, said, explaining that the two worked on the same studio lot in the "early days."

View this post on Instagram

"I like to go and just sit in the corner and watch," the 'Married With Children' star added. "You watch what Michael has to go through on a day-to-day basis and get up on stage, and he's sharp as a tack but it takes a lot of energy, and to work opposite Harrison [Ford] and be so generous, I mean, it is a beautiful thing."

McGinley also shared that he admired Fox for his fundraising efforts for Parkinson's, a disease that Fox has suffered from and been very open about since the 90s.

"It's just been amazing" he said of the $2 billion Fox has raised for research.

On the Emmy Award-nominated show, Fox plays Gerry, a Parkinson's patient who meets Ford's character, psychologist Dr. Paul Rhoades, in a doctor's office. The two bond over suffering from the same disease, with Gerry sharing advice with Rhoades, who is in the early stages. The psychologist also sees Gerry during a hallucination at the end of the episode.

Ahead of participating in the show, the 'Back to the Future' star told Shrinking showrunner, Bill Lawrence, just how he'd like to be portrayed, emphasizing that he didn't want to play himself.

“He said, ‘I don’t care what I do as long as I’m playing just a guy,’" Lawrence shared with People. "He was like, ‘I don’t want to play Mike Fox with Parkinson’s. I just want to play some dude."

Shrinking airs on Apple TV on Wednesdays and along with Ford and McGinley, stars Jason Segal and Jessica Williams.

Thu, 02/12/2026 - 12:34pm

Could a Backstreet Boys Super Bowl halftime show next year bring in enough nostalgia to outshine Bad Bunny's record 120+ million viewers? The pop boy band seems to think so.

The Backstreet Boys are wrapping up their Las Vegas residency at the Sphere, but during their Feb. 11 show, AJ McLean told the crowd he'd love to see his iconic boy band bring their beloved late-90s and early 2000s hits to one of the year's biggest stages.

In a clip obtained byUs Weekly, McLean tells the audience, "What do you guys think: Backstreet Boys 2027 Super Bowl halftime?" The line unleashed a huge cheer from the audience as fans embraced the idea of the group taking their best tracks to the NFL stage.

"Let's make it happen then," he added. "I mean, you know, why not? Right? Why not?"

Fans in the comment section of Us Weekly's post were thrilled at the idea. Super Bowl halftime shows have a history of surprise guests as well, so the thought of the Backstreet Boys sharing the stage with fellow pop icons like NSYNC, O-Town, New Kids on the Block, BBMAK, or even Christina Aguilera has fans buzzing.

"Here for this, through and through!! ❤️❤️❤️" A comment read. "1 million percent YES. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🩵🩵🩵," another fan shared.

"I mean yeah. It would be absolutely epic," someone wrote. "I vote for a Boyband themed half time show including @nkotb and @nsync," another comment read.

Boy bands have previously performed on the NFL stage, including New Kids on the Block, who became the first-ever major pop group to headline the halftime show during Super Bowl XXV in 1991, according to The Week. During Super Bowl XXXV in 2001, NSYNC joined a medley of artists, including Britney Spears and Mary J. Blige, when Aerosmith headlined the show.

In fact, the Backstreet Boys sang the national anthem that year.

On Feb. 1, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) launched its search for Nancy after she was last seen on the evening of Jan. 31 at her home. The PCSD declared her residence a crime scene, determining that Nancy was “taken” from her residence “against her will.” Law enforcement also confirmed that the blood discovered at the home belonged to the 84-year-old.

Investigators have returned to Savannah’s mom’s home multiple times in search of evidence. A video of a vehicle of interest was submitted to law enforcement, in addition to investigators finding a camera on the roof of Nancy’s home. The FBI also added digital billboards across several states.

In the meantime, multiple alleged ransom notes have surfaced, and Nancy’s family sent several public video messages to the captors. A Feb. 7 video featured Savannah vowing to pay the staggering ransom amount of $6 million, although the Feb. 9 deadline has now passed.

1969 Hit Ranked ‘Greatest Rolling Stones Song’ of All Time

Thu, 02/12/2026 - 12:32pm

When it comes to punk rock bands who have had major lasting impacts on the music industry and have redefined the genre, The Rolling Stones are definitely one of the first to come to mind.

The English band which dominated the 1960s and '70s embodied rock and roll as a lasting attitude rather than a passing trend. They've been inducted in both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as well as the U.K. Music Hall of Fame, and are widely considered to be one of the greatest musical acts of all time, according to reputable music outlets like Rolling Stone and Billboard.

That's why the sports and entertainment news website Yardbarker decided to create a list of The Rolling Stones' 50 best songs of all time, and the pick for the No. 1 spot may not come to much of a surprise.

RELATED: ’60s Rock Band Announces Update on Exclusive Giveaway

Many of the band's most popular tunes fell short of the top slot, including "You Can't Always Get What You Want" (1969), which placed 13th, and the Grammy Hall of Fame inductee "Paint It Black" (1966), which sits at No. 5 on the list. "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" (1965), which many fans of The Rolling Stones call their favorite in the band's discography, fell shy of the No. 1 position, securing its place as Yardbarker's runner up instead.

Instead, the outlet has decided that the best Rolling Stones of all time is none other than the 1969 classic "Gimme Shelter," which is the opening track of the band's album Let It Bleed. The song was written during the height of the Vietnam War, addressing themes of war, fear and societal collapse that were prevalent during that time. The track also features guest vocals by gospel singer Merry Clayton.

When explaining their decision, Yardbreaker wrote that the song "is a classic 'build' song that gradually introduces its sonic components before bringing them together in fiery harmony. You may have heard it more than enough for one lifetime, but it'll always be there for a new, adventurous generation to discover — and that is a very comforting thought indeed."

The song was written by the band's frontman Mick Jagger and lead guitarist Keith Richards, who were responsible for writing most of The Rolling Stones' music. In a passage from Richards' autobiography Life (2010), the musician revealed that he channeled his frustration and suspicions that his bandmate Jagger was having an affair with his then-girlfriend Anita Pallenberg while they filmed the movie Performance (1970) when he co-wrote "Gimme Shelter."

In a 2012 interview with NPR, Jagger spoke about the intention behind the song: "It was a very moody piece about the world closing in on you a bit. When it was recorded, early '69 or something, it was a time of war and tension, so that's reflected in this tune."

Since its release, the song has cemented its legacy as one of The Rolling Stones' quintessential listens, being performed at most of the band's live performances. "Gimme Shelter" has found a place on most major lists ranking the best rock songs of all time and continues to permeate all aspects of pop culture beyond just music. The track has been featured in three separate Martin Scorsese films (Goodfellas [1990], Casino [1995] and The Departed [2006]) as well as the opening of the 2026 documentary Melania.

Andy Cohen Breaks His Silence on Jill Zarin’s E! Firing

Thu, 02/12/2026 - 12:31pm

Though Andy Cohen kept his comments brief on Jill Zarin’s firing from E!'s The Golden Life, he couldn’t resist poking fun at the swirl of online speculation surrounding her exit.

“I don’t really have anything to say about it, besides call E!” Cohen said on his SiriusXM show. “If you want further comment, call E!” But he added, “I mean, especially someone who was let go in Season 4, talked about it with me so much on camera, off camera, was finally coming back, and then a week after the announcement… but I will never get over the sight of the Zarin Fabrics Instagram account. Posting a picture of Jill with an X over it, with an X over her face. I never thought that I would see the day.”

Shortly after Zarin posted an Instagram video criticizing Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance, Zarin Fabrics — the company launched by her late husband, Bobby — distanced itself from the former Housewife.

View this post on Instagram

Zarin Fabrics posted a photo of Jill Zarin on its Instagram account with a large red X over her face, explaining in the post that the company was founded on “creativity, collaboration, and respect for the diverse communities that shape art, culture, and expression. We condemn language or viewpoints that undermine those principles, and we remain committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment in everything we do.”

The company added, “We want to be absolutely clear that Jill Zarin has not had ownership of or been associated with Zarin Fabrics for several years. Our company operates independently, and any public statements attributed to her are made in a personal capacity and do not reflect our values, beliefs, or operations.”

Despite the backlash, one former Housewife had Zarin’s back. Brandi Glanville, formerly of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, posted on X: “OK #1 I have a HUGE crush on BadBunny I wanna be his Mrs. Robinson the 1/2 show rocked. My friend @Jill Zarin has her own opinion & I don't agree with it AT ALL but opinions aren't wrong they're subjective. I want to watch Jill on TV explain herself& hopefully learn something. Or we can just keep watching 'yes people' afraid to share."

John was born on Nov. 25, 1960—just 17 days after his father was elected president—making him a public figure from birth. 1. Meg Azzoni

As a teen in 1977, JFK Jr. dated his high school classmate Meg. She later became an artist and in 2007, self-published a book called Eleven Letters and a Poem, which featured letters John sent her when they were a young couple.

John and Jenny Christian met as classmates at Phillips Academy Andover in Massachusetts. In 2024's JFK Jr.: An Intimate Oral Biography, pal Sasha Chermayeff described her as "the first love of his life, no doubt." The couple dated from 1978 to 1979, but broke up after graduation.

3. Sally Munro

While attending Brown University, Kennedy began a six-year relationship with Sally Munro after being introduced by mutual pal Chris Oberbeck. "For John, her honesty and straightforward manner were like a breath of fresh air," according to his close friend and college roommate, Robert Littell. The couple remained together from 1979 to 1985.

After catching the acting bug, John fell for his former Brown University classmate Christina Haag. Though they had been friends in college, they didn't become a couple until 1985, when they co-starred in an off-Broadway play.

That spark led to a serious romance that lasted until 1990. While many friends expected a Kennedy wedding, it wasn't meant to be. Haag opened up about their life together in her 2011 memoir, Come to the Edge, writing that the relationship crumbled under the weight of his alleged infidelities and her busy travel schedule as an actress.

Haag was devastated when he married Bessette in 1996. She wrote, “seeing the [wedding] photograph was like a small death.” In this interview, she talks more about their relationship:

5. Madonna

Kennedy reportedly had a fling with the "Papa Don't Preach" singer during his relationship with Haag. In The Good Son: JFK Jr. and the Mother He Loved, author Christopher Anderson writes, "The only place the superstar couple could let their guard down was in Hyannis Port, where they bundled up in sweaters and jackets and jogged on the beach. Inside the compound, they curled up by the fire, sipping daiquiris from Waterford crystal glasses.” Anderson also alleges that his mother—Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis—did not approve. The romance was short-lived.

6. Julie Baker

In the ABC documentary The Last Days of JFK Jr, the model claimed that she had a two-year relationship with Kennedy after meeting him in 1989. “I just loved that he was kind of silly, quirky, forgetful, fun and adventurous,” she said. Baker and Kennedy's first date was at an Andrew Dice Clay comedy show. He was just "a normal, humble, great guy," she added.

7. Brooke Shields

In a 2023 appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Shields revealed her decades-long crush on JFK Jr. "I was so madly in love with him, since the time I was like three, my mom would say, 'That's the boy you're going to marry, that's the boy you're going to marry,'" she shared.

Eventually, the pair met while skiing in Aspen and he invited her to join his family at a nearby pub. "He kissed me, and it was like the best kiss I’ve ever had in my life,” the actress said. "The lips are beautiful, and the face is amazing … and he was down-to-earth and funny and irreverent."

Ultimately, Shields turned down his further advances that night. "I was so afraid of being hurt," she said. "I think I knew enough about myself by then to say, 'You won't be able to handle this, Brooke.'"

8. Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker's time with JFK Jr. could have been a Sex and the City storyline. The pair dated for about six months between 1991 and 1992. Parker reflected on the relationship in a 1992 interview with The New York Times. “I never had any idea what real fame was until I met John," she explained. "He’s a nice man, but for God’s sake, I feel like I should apologize for dating him. It has become the defining factor in the person I am. It’s pathetic. When I die, they are going to say, 'Oh, yeah, Sarah once dated John Kennedy.'" Sarah went on to marry Matthew Broderick in 1997 and after SATC premiered in 1998, she didn't have to worry about her relationship with JFK Jr. being "the defining factor" ever again.

9. Daryl Hannah

Kennedy was in an on-again, off-again relationship with Splash actress Hannah from 1988 to 1994. The pair first met in the early '80s but didn’t become a couple until years later, when they were both guests at the 1988 wedding of his aunt—Lee Radziwill—to Daryl’s Steel Magnolias director Herb Ross.

John F. Kennedy, Jr. and Daryl Hannah arrive at the 1993 wedding of his cousin—Edward Kennedy, Jr.—in Rhode Island.

Daryl has generally remained quiet about her relationship with America’s Prince, but in 1993, she vented about the country's obsession with JFK Jr.'s dating life—saying that her plumber had even brought it up earlier that day! "I get asked about it all the time," she told Entertainment Weekly. “Why can’t people talk about something else?”

Throughout their relationship, the pair got swarmed everywhere they went—whether it was during a bike ride, basketball game, or at a wedding—as pictured above. The couple eventually broke up for good in 1994.

10. Cindy Crawford John F. Kennedy Jr. unveils the first issue of his magazine, with Cindy Crawford dressed as President George Washington on the cover.

In 1995, dating rumors swirled after supermodel Cindy Crawford appeared on the debut cover of Kennedy's new magazine, George, after her recent divorce from Richard Gere. Five years later, Crawford and her husband—Rande Gerber—were the cover stars on George's September 2000 issue.

While Crawford has opened up about their friendship over the years, she's never signaled that she and John were ever more than friends. For that reason, we're leaving this pairing in the rumor pile.

11. Carolyn Bessette

JFK Jr. first met Bessette in 1992, but at the time, he was still dating Hannah. John and Carolyn started dating after his 1994 split with the actress.

John F. Kennedy, Jr. and his wife Carolyn Bessette Kennedy

In 1995, he proposed to Carolyn and they got married in a secret ceremony on Georgia's Cumberland Island the following September. Just a few years later, the couple and Carolyn's sister—Lauren Bessette, 34—died when the aircraft he was piloting crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. The National Transportation Safety Board ultimately determined that Kennedy’s spatial disorientation in the hazy weather had caused him to lose control of the flight.

Nearly 30 years later, America is still transfixed by the couple's relationship, and will see much more of it in Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette—with the first three episodes coming to FX tonight at 9 p.m. ET.

Ben Stiller's Soda Brand Launches Brand-New Roy Rogers-Inspired Flavor

Thu, 02/12/2026 - 12:19pm

Less than five months after its initial launch, Stiller's Soda is expanding its product lineup with its boldest, most unforgettable flavor yet.

Inspired in part by the Hollywood icon Roy Rogers (as well as the famous non-alcoholic beverage of the same name), comedian Ben Stiller's growing soda brand is officially debuting its new Shirley Cola flavor to the company's rotation.

Similar to a classic Shirley Temple or Roy Rogers mocktail, the new flavor draws on the sweet taste of traditional cola and syrupy grenadine, ensuring a drink that's smooth, flavorful and endlessly delicious with each new sip.

As the company said of their latest product in an email shared with us, "If the Shirley Temple is the wholesome childhood staple, Shirley Cola is her renegade sibling: a little dusty around the edges, confidently nostalgic, and designed for everyday drinking. Inspired by the classic Roy Rogers, Stiller’s Shirley Cola brings a swagger back to the soda aisle with modern sensibility and unmistakable shelf presence."

The new flavor marks the fourth addition Stiller's Soda, a brand originally founded by the famed comedic actor in late September of last year. Upon its initial launch in 2025, the company specifically debuted three original flavors in the form of Root Beer, Lemon Lime and Shirley Temple, all of which were meant to capture the classic soda flavors shoppers know and recognize.

As the brand continues its rapid growth, customers can find Stiller's Soda at both Walmart and Whole Foods locations throughout the Northeast, as well as at nationwide Target stores. With just 30 calories, a mere 7 grams of sugar and plenty of all-natural ingredients and beneficial vitamins, the "better-for-you soda" brand is quickly finding a welcome home among both ordinary grocery store shoppers and all those with a deep love for refreshing soda beverages.

'90s Heavy Metal Band Announces New Lineup and First 2026 Live Show

Thu, 02/12/2026 - 12:16pm

The Seattle-made heavy metal band Nevermore is starting 2026 with a new lineup of members alongside founders Jeff Loomis and Van Williams. Nevemore also announced signing with a new record label, with their first performance scheduled for spring.

On Nevermore's official Instagram, the band announced they signed with Reigning Phoenix Music and are heading into a "new era" and are excited for their first 2026 live show in Istanbul, Turkey, on April 1. They also give fans an update as they are excited to finish their next studio album.

"We are thrilled to announce that Nevermore has officially signed with Reigning Phoenix Music! It was obvious from the start that they were the perfect partner for the new era of Nevermore. Their passion for metal music combined with the extensive industry pedigree of their team made the choice easy," they said in the caption alongside a posted rehearsal video.

"We can’t wait to get back on stage in front of our fans in Istanbul on April 1st, and we are just as excited to finish writing and putting together the new Nevermore album!"

The news of their live performance will also be a first, as they are introducing three new members to Nevermore. Their new lineup will consist of Jack Cattoi on guitar, Semir Özerkan on bass, and new vocalist Berzan Önen. Founding members Loomis (guitar) and Williams (drummer) will helm the band as its founders.

In a released documentary by the heavy metal band, they catalogued the audition process of finding Nevermore's newest members. Loomis recalls how Berzan "really stood out strong" in his audition tape.

"I could really feel the emotion and passion when I heard him sing for the first time. He wasn't just going through the motions. "I could tell right away that he was a fan of Warrel's singing just by the way he delivered and said certain words. I was really blown away at first watch," said Williams.

Nevermore was originally formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1992 with vocalist Warrel Dane, bassist Jim Sheppard, and guitarist Loomis. The three went through various drummers before hiring Williams in 1994. While the band went through numerous lineup changes, they still achieved success until taking a hiatus in 2011 due to personal issues.

Dane died in 2017, with Loomis and Williams reforming the band in 2025. When defending their decision to reactivate the band, Loomis admitted Dane was irreplaceable, and they were looking for someone to "carry the older NEVERMORE tunes in his vocal style, and someone who can add something new and refreshing to the next chapter of the band."

1993 Hit Released 33 Years Ago Today Became the Most-Played Country Song of the ’90s

Thu, 02/12/2026 - 12:07pm

On Feb. 12, 1993, country music star Toby Keith released his debut single, “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” a song that would go on to define not just his career but an entire decade of country radio.

The track debuted at No. 69 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for the week of March 6, 1993. By June 5, 1993, it had climbed to No. 1, where it remained for two weeks — marking the first of 20 career chart-toppers for Keith.

Over the years, “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” earned more than three million spins on country radio, making it the most-played country song of the 1990s.

The single was the lead release from Keith’s self-titled debut album, which was certified platinum in the United States and gold in Canada. The song itself was certified four-times platinum by the RIAA in October 2024.

Keith later shared the inspiration behind the title in a 2018 interview with Billboard:

This highway patrolman who I had met on the trip, his name was John, he jumps up. He was probably 45 or 50 back then, and he runs over to this 25-year-old cowgirl. He was going to show that he could bust a move. She turns him down. He comes over, and said, "She says she doesn’t dance." About 15 minutes later, a young cowboy comes in—and off they go on the dance floor. Everybody was making fun of him, and one of the guys said, "John, I guess you should have been a cowboy."

Following Keith’s death on Feb. 5, 2024, the song re-entered the Hot Country Songs chart at No. 12, becoming the highest-peaking of five of his songs to return to the chart that week.

Across his career, Keith released 70 singles, 20 of which reached No. 1. He sold more than 30 million albums in the United States, making him one of the best-selling country artists of the modern era.

More than 30 years after its release, “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” remains one of country music’s most enduring anthems.
