If you're looking for a beautiful but inexpensive bird bath to elevate your backyard — and keep your feathered friends cool in the summer heat — then check out this Amazon sale. The BTEXPERT Vintage Solar Lighted Bird Bath is only $35 on Amazon.

This bird bath combines style, an antique royalty-themed design, and gentle solar powered lights into one delightful pedestal bird bath. The bird bath stands 43 inches tall. It has a lighthouse-reminiscent style, a marigold leaf-shaped bird bath bowl, and two solar powered lights: one at the top and one beneath the bowl.

It's made of weather-resistant, high-quality PP plastic that's protected with a resin seal. Buyers say it's lightweight and easy to move around their backyard, which they love.

Once you've decided where to place your bird bath, you can use three stakes at the base to hold it in place, and then load the hollow pedestal with gravel or rocks to improve stability. One buyer comments: "It is ... very lightweight and therefore securing the base of the product as instructed is a must."

Some buyers add birdseed to the bowl at the very bottom for added appeal. Others fill it with decorative rocks or flowers.

Walmart's Massive 8-Platform Catio Is Over 40% Off — 'Kitties Adore It!'

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 3:51pm

Parade Pets aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

If you've been wanting to invest in a huge catio for your posh cat — or if you need a cat enclosure big enough to hold 6 to 14 kitties — then you'll want to check out this sale. The Petcosset 110" Large Catio Outdoor Cat Enclosure is now $480 when it's regularly $816. That means it's over 40% off for Walmart's limited-time Flash Deal.

This catio is for the pet parent who wants only the most magnificent of things for their purrfect kitty. It's big enough so you can enter the catio yourself and hang out with your cat inside, thanks to the 56" and 65" front doors. There are also small cat-sized doors that can be connected to your house or to kitty tunnels.

The catio has an active area of 45.74-square-feet. The manufacturer estimates that it could hold as many as six to 14 cats without their feeling cramped. Inside the catio are eight platforms, two resting boxes, along with bridges and shelves where they can hop, run, and play.

The catio has a UV-proof Oxford cloth roof connected by Velcro, and the catio itself is made of high-quality fir wood.

"Our kitties adore it!" one buyer gushes. "Not able to ask for more."

On Walmart's website, buyers are rating this catio 4.7 out of 5 stars. One person says it was beyond their expectations and "can fit up to 10 cats." They say it's durable and their "cats love it since day one."

Check out what else buyers are saying:

  • "It just took a few hours to assemble, and it was rather simple... Since I put it together, my cat has been in it every day and gives it his highest approval."
  • "You're not going to be let down. This is a high-quality product with well-made, sturdy materials."
  • "It's pressed up against my outside window, which I've drilled a hole in for convenient access using a window cat door insert! Where I live, it rains a lot, yet the wood holds up quite well!"

Some buyers do caution that this catio can be a bit tough to assemble, given its size. But others say it's "simple to assemble" and just takes a little time. "I managed to do it myself with only a screwdriver," one person writes.

As with any outdoor cat enclosure, I recommend spending time with your kitty and not leaving them alone at first, to see how the enclosure holds up and how your cat reacts.

This huge catio comes with free shipping (which is a big deal for something this size) and free 30-day returns.

Golden Retriever Puppy's Precious 'Egg Head' Has People Completely in Their Feelings

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 1:30pm

Raising a puppy can be a real challenge, but there's so much to love about this chaotic stage of your dog's life. Experiencing the world through a new puppy's eyes is so much fun. And then, there's the most obvious reason: They're so tiny and adorable!

Enter this sweet Golden Retriever puppy, whose "egg head" is making the internet fall in love.

On June 15, proud mom Kenzie Berger on TikTok showed off her "egg head baby" in a video while smoothing her puppy's ears down to show the size and shape of that tiny skull.

She might have an egg-shaped head, but that doesn't make this gal any less beautiful — or any less loved by the people who can't help but gush over how cute she is.

"That's her smart knot," one person wrote, offering a different description of her head shape. It's not just this baby who looks like this — it's all Golden puppies at this age when they put their ears down, and it is precious.

This puppy is obviously young, and it seems like she only recently joined her family. Even so, she's fitting right in. Look at this adorable video of her hiding from her dad:

What to Expect As Your Golden Puppy Grows

According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), there are a few milestones your Golden Retriever will reach during the first two years of their lives. Their bodies and brains are growing so quickly early on!

In the first six months of life, your Golden will:

  • have a short attention span but a lot of energy
  • attempting to chew everything in sight
  • develop sudden fears they have to work through

From six to 18 months old, they're in their "teenager" phase, which means they'll:

  • reach 80% of their growth
  • become a bit moody (it's the hormones, just like in human teenagers)

By the time they reach 24 months old, your Golden will:

  • finish growing and reach their full adult size
  • need plenty of exercise
  • begin showing you their true, settled personality

Your dog may lose their puppy face, but they will always be adorable, especially in your eyes as their favorite human. But things will continue to be fun in a different way as they grow. If you're a new parent to a Golden, there are so many great adventures in your future.

Crofton Star Americana Popsicle Mold, $2.99 at Aldi

While expensive pet gadgets get a lot of attention, some of the most practical summer purchases cost only a few dollars. At $2.99, these star-shaped popsicles are naturally a fit for Fourth of July gatherings.

Pets can enjoy a patriotic popsicle made specifically for them, with dog-safe, pet-friendly ingredients.

Fill them, freeze them and then serve them as a special enrichment activity for your pup, which is especially helpful during somewhat chaotic family gatherings on the Fourth. If you are looking ahead to hot summer days, the popsicle mold is a must-have.

How to Prepare Dog-Safe Frozen Treats

You do not need to overthink frozen treats. Often, the best ones come with simple ingredients. The Crofton Star Americana Popsicle Mold offers six star-shaped popsicles, enough to experiment with different ingredients.

Here are some suggestions:

  • Blend banana with a small amount of xylitol-free peanut butter and water
  • Mix plain yogurt and blueberries or raspberries
  • Blend seedless watermelon puree for a refreshing snack
  • Pour low-sodium chicken or bone broth for a simple and hydrating ice cream

Precious Twin Maine Coon Kittens Moving in Unison Are the Ultimate Little Princesses

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 11:34am

These two Maine Coon kittens have been given a title. A very specific, very official title. One look at them and you will understand exactly why nobody argued about it.

The TikTok from @wildmane_mainecoons keeps things super simple. The caption: "The princesses 🎀"

That is all that needed to be said.

Meet the Princesses. Two Maine Coon kittens with ear tufts already standing at full attention, long coats doing exactly what Maine Coon fur does and expressive faces that make it very clear they have always known exactly who they are. The kind of faces that look back at the camera like the camera should consider itself lucky. They play. They pose. They look directly into the lens with the confidence of kitties who’ve never once questioned their own magnificence.

@wildmane_mainecoons

The princesses 🎀 #mainecoon #kitten #cutekitten #catsoftiktok #kittenlovers

♬ Danza Delle Ore - Suisse Symphony Orchestra

The internet had one thing to say: "Cuties!"

Sometimes one word is exactly enough.

But the princess energy is not just a personality quirk. It's basically baked into the breed.

Why Maine Coon Kittens Are Basically Born Royalty

Here is the thing about Maine Coons. According to the International Cat Association, they are America's original longhaired cat, a breed that figured out how to survive brutal New England winters entirely on their own. They’re not designed to sit on tufted velvet cushions. They just ended up acting like they deserve one anyway.

TICA describes them as cats who love being around their people without being so clingy. They will follow you from room to room, wait outside a closed door until you come back and quietly keep tabs on whatever you are up to. Not in an annoying way but more like a personal assistant who happens to also be very fluffy and completely unbothered.

Their coats are semi-long and water-resistant, with big tufted paws and extremely long bushy tails. Even as kittens those ear tufts are already doing a lot. The kind of thing that makes you stop and just stare for a second.

Related: This Maine Coon Cat Is So Massive, He's Almost As Big As His German Shepherd Sibling

Their voices might also surprise you. Despite looking like they could command a room, Maine Coons almost never meow. Most of them make a soft little chirp or trill sound that is actually so much more demure than you would expect from a cat this large.

They also do things most cats would never even entertain the thought of. Many play fetch. Some like to go for long walks on leashes. A good number will learn simple commands. All while maintaining the complete energy of someone who is doing you a favor by participating.

TICA says they stay this way for their entire lives too, not just as kittens. The playfulness does not go away. The princess' energy will never fade. They’ll never outgrow it. It just becomes a part of what makes them Maine Coons.

These two are just brand new. The ear tufts will grow thicker. The coats will get longer and their self-confidence will deepen.

Golden Retriever's Hide and Seek Skills Would Put Kids to Shame

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 11:26am

As a breed, Golden Retrievers tend to have such friendly, playful personalities. The best thing you can do for these dogs as a human is to invest your time in playing and bonding with them, and they will give you plenty of unconditional love in return.

So it's no wonder that Skye loves playing hide and seek with her dad, and this adorable TikTok video proves it.

@mackandskye

this makes her so tired after a few rounds hahah

♬ original sound - Mack & Skye

Skye's mom, Mackenzie, shared this sweet video on June 14, and I have to give this dog props — she's a hide and seek pro.

She waits so patiently for her dad to be ready in his hiding place, and once he finally is, she's off, and it takes her no time at all to find him in the next room (even though she did have to go retrieve a pair of slippers first, which is completely understandable).

Watching her emerge with that second slipper and her dad in tow is so worth the wait. Skye is so proud of herself, and so are the people who are falling in love with this video.

"Dad needs to find better hiding places," one commenter advised, and I fear they might be right. Skye is such a champ, she's ready for the next level of difficulty in this particular game. I have no doubt she could handle it.

Related: Gentle Giant Golden Retriever Finds a Bunny—and Their Bond Is Pure Magic

Why Dogs Love Hide and Seek

Skye isn't the only dog who loves a good game of hide and seek. As it turns out, many dogs out there love this game because of the way it plays to their natural instincts as canines.

According to the West Suburban Humane Society, dogs love hide and seek because of their natural hunting instincts. This game gives them the chance to use their noses in a way that they may not get to do often (you know, being domesticated and all).

Want to play hide and seek with your dog but don't know where to start? If it's your first time, you'll want to keep one human near your dog to make sure they don't go looking for you too soon (or know that they're solidly trained to sit and stay). Then, you'll go hide and call for them when you're ready for them to find you.

Start out by hiding in an easy place for them to find you the first few rounds, and then, you can chose progressively harder hiding spots to find once they get the hang of the game.

Don't forget to really celebrate them for finding you, and supply a yummy treat — that will make them want to keep playing for sure.

Faithful Dachshund Refuses to Touch His Food Until Mom Says Grace With Him

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 10:10am

Dogs love structure and routine. My senior Dachshund and Pug mix can basically tell time based on their tried-and-true schedule. They walk right to the front door and stand for their leashes when it's time to go out, clamor at breakfast and dinnertime, and go directly to where the treats are kept whenever they come inside from doing their business. Both my canines have every step memorized.

Louie the Dachshund seems to have a mealtime ritual as well and won't take a bite of dinner until he gives thanks.

@dora_.the_.explorerr

Just like mama fr

♬ Happiness - Piero Piccioni

In the TikTok from @dora_.the_.explorerr, Louie's mom showed him his bowl filled with food and held it right under his nose. The devout Doxie didn't attempt even one nibble of kibble until his mom put the bowl down and gently took his paw in her hand.

"My Catholic dog refuses to eat until we say grace," the on-screen text explained.

Then the two were silent for a moment before Louie's mom said grace.

"Bless us, O Lord, and these Thy gifts, which we are about to receive from Thy bounty, through Christ our Lord. Amen," his mom prayed as they both gave thanks.

Followers were moved by the tender scene and praised Louie for his grateful spirit:

  • "Showing this to my dogs right now!" one remarked.
  • "I say the same exact grace before I eat too!!" another shared.
  • "My toddler needs to step it up," a follower joked.
  • "How do you explain this to a pet sitter?" someone asked.
  • "My dog does this too!! Doesn’t hold our hand but bows his head while we pray," a fan posted.
Why Dogs Love Mealtime Routines

Dogs thrive on routine and love knowing when they're going to eat. They quickly learn when food is served and start looking forward to that time before it happens. My dogs both start pacing and whining around 15 minutes before mealtime every single day like clockwork.

Related: Mini Dachshund's Rare 'Natural Mask' Makes Him Look Like a Work of Art

Regular feeding times are also beneficial to your dog's health. A set meal schedule helps:

  • Regulate digestion
  • Maintain a healthy metabolism
  • Reduce anxiety around food

Dogs who are consistently fed at predictable times are often calmer because they know their basic needs are reliably met.

Louie clearly has his daily routine down and even builds gratitude into his schedule.

Costco's Pop-Up Sun Shelter Is the Summer Upgrade Every Pet Parent Needs Right Now

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 9:48am

Who doesn't love taking their pet to the beach? Spending the day at the beach with your beloved pup seems like a great idea—until it is not. The sun can get brutal, the sand reflects heat, and sometimes, your pet is stuck with nowhere to cool down.

Yes, summer adventures can be fun, but they need to be safe as well. Pet parents underestimate how much sun protection their dogs need. Unlike humans, they cannot apply sunscreen or use other forms of protection. They need a place to hide, and often, finding shade at the beach is the biggest challenge.

If you do not want to spend 20 minutes setting up tent poles while your dog barks nearby, you should check out the Portal 2Hub Instant Pop-Up Sun Shelter at Costco.

With an easy setup that takes just a few minutes, you get an instant shaded area for pets and people. The tent fits two to four people, plus a dog in between.

"This took only a couple minutes to put up and take down," one shopper shared in a review on Costco.com.

"Simple and easy to set-up and break down," wrote another customer. "Travel bag very useful. Stands up to wind and sand well. We used it at the beach in windy Chicago."

Built for Real Outdoor Conditions

Blocking 95 percent of UV rays with UPF 50+ protection, this shelter makes the difference between a dog panting through a beach afternoon and one that can lie comfortably next to you.

More than just a beach accessory, the tent can also be brought with you on camping weekends or during a backyard gathering on a hot day. Or enjoy a long afternoon at the park with your pet safely lying next to you.

The fabric on this portable pop-up shelter at Costco is water-resistant. No more unexpected summer shower ruining your beach afternoon. Sit back, relax, and wait for the shower to pass.

Why Do Dogs Need Shade in Summer

Dogs overheat faster than humans. While dogs do sweat through their paws, they also pant and use the blood vessels in their ears and face to cool down. A shaded space away from the sun helps them regulate their body temperature without the risk of overheating.

Because dogs are more susceptible to heatstroke, it's important to watch out for signs of overheating. These include excessive panting, pale gums, lethargy and vomiting or diarrhea.

It's also important to remember that shade is not a replacement for water, cooling breaks, or common-sense heat precautions. Still, the Portal 2Hub Instant Pop-Up Sun Shelter gives your dog a place to recover from sun exposure throughout the day.

Shih-Tzu Treated To Most Extra Texas Roadhouse Birthday—He Only Had Eyes for the Steak

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 8:52am

Ozzy the Shih Tzu turned one. His mom had a big plan. That plan involved Texas Roadhouse, a birthday dinner and a level of dog mom dedication that the internet was absolutely not ready for.

The TikTok from @jocelynramirezz captures the whole thing with a caption that says everything: "Happy birthday to my baby boy Ozzy 🤎 #dogmom #mybaby #firstborn"

Ozzy is small and cream colored with the kind of fluffy Shih Tzu face that makes it very hard to say no to anything. What he wanted for his birthday was a steak from Texas Roadhouse. His mom made it happen.

This is not a dog who got an extra biscuit and a belly rub. Although those are awesome any day.  No, this is a dog who got a real sit-down birthday dinner at Texas Roadhouse. He’s with his mom. Sitting at the table. Eating a steak.

@

♬ -

One look at the hashtags tell us the whole story: #dogmom #mybaby #firstborn. This is not just a pet. This is a firstborn.

For dog moms like Ozzy's, the first birthday is not just a milestone for the dog. It's a milestone for the whole family. One full year of routines, love and figuring each other out. All of it was building towards this exact steak.

The birthday boy sits at the table with the focus of someone who has been waiting for this his whole life. He’s celebrating turning one year old. His whole life is one year. It has all been building toward this.

The comments showed up fully for Ozzy's birthday:

"Such a cutie pie happy birthday Ozzy"

"Ozzy don't give af about anything but that steak"

"Relax. Look how happy the doggy is 🥺🫶🏻"

"Meanwhile he was craving Texas Roadhouse for his birthday."

"My dog said if I don't take him on his next birthday he gonna find another mom ☹️"

Blessed is definitely the correct word. And if Ozzy's birthday is giving you ideas for your own dog, here is what actually works.

How to Throw Your Dog a Birthday Celebration They'll Actually Love

Turns out dog birthday parties are actually great for dogs and not just good for your Instagram feed.

According to Tearribles, doing something special for your dog on their birthday taps into what they truly love doing and brings you closer together in real ways.

Related: This Maine Coon Cat Is So Massive, He's Almost As Big As His German Shepherd Sibling

The biggest thing you can do is take them somewhere new. A new place, like a pet-friendly restaurant or café, gives a dog's brain a serious workout. Tearribles notes that a brand new environment can be just as tiring and satisfying for a dog as a walk twice as long somewhere they've been a hundred times.

Food is also a really big deal to dogs. They get very excited by new tastes and the act of licking is actually calming for them. If you want to bake something at home, Tearribles has a vet-approved recipe that uses xylitol-free peanut butter, unsweetened applesauce and flour. One important thing to always check: some peanut butter brands contain xylitol, which is toxic to dogs. Chocolate, grapes, raisins, onions and garlic are also on the do-not-feed list.

For activities, hiding treats around the house or yard and letting your dog sniff them out gives them a vigorous mental workout that’s just as good as running around outside.

Ozzy's mom figured all of this out on her own. New place. Good food. Her full attention. That is genuinely the whole formula.

His steak just happened to come with a serenade. One year old and already living his best dog life. Happy birthday Ozzy. You were always the main character.

TikTok user @thegoldquad, an animal rescue organization in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania, introduces us to a very cute dog they've named Munchkin Man. He's a very unique dog; they describe him as being "happy, sweet, cuddly, and just an all-around great little pup."

Watching the clip of this tiny little dog with a one-of-a-kind look, he has such a proud face as he's wagging his tail back and forth while his video is being filmed. For some reason, he looks like he's soaking wet when he's not, and it's hard to tell if his face and features are going to change as he gets older or if he's actually an old man already. That ambiguity is definitely part of his charm.

In the comments, thousands of people shared sweet, kind words about Munchkin Man.

One person wrote, "Whoever adopts this cutie, I hope you start a TikTok page for him."

Another shared, "Send him to me! Oh my goodness, look at him."

Someone else added, "He’s trying to play it cool. His tail did not get the message."

Other comments included, "Why does he look like an otter?" "I know a runner when I see them," "Munchkin Man is literally perfect," "Wait. Where is the treasure located?" "What a perfect rascal," and "He looks like a '90sDisney protagonist dog."

How To Help a Rescue Dog Ease Into Their New Home

We have no doubt that this cute Munchkin Man is going to find the home that he's meant to have, so all his dreams come true. And that family will be so lucky once everyone gets over the learning curve of funding a new groove and routine.

According to the American Kennel Club, helping an adult dog adjust to a new home isn't as simple or easy as it might be for a puppy, but as long as you have your expectations set correctly, things will move along at the pace they should.

The site explains that, from before you welcome your new adult dog into the home, you should make sure you've got everything you need to help them feel at home. This includes bedding, toys, and other supplies. When your pup is in their new home, have a space that's just for them, somewhere quiet and away from all the noise of the home, a space they can feel secure. Keep your new dog separate from other pets until you can move into the introduction routine.

Have a daily routine and keep it for your new adult dog so they understand expectations, which helps keep them more relaxed. Be patient with training, use positive reinforcement, and take things slowly. You can and should work with your veterinarian to work through any potential issues, and remember that patience and love will help guide the way.

Hopefully, sweet Munchkin Man is already thriving in his new forever home.

Sweet Dog Wore a Tuxedo to His Parents' Wedding – and He Made Himself Comfortable in the Funniest Spot

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 8:10am

Mambo may have shown up to his parents’ outdoor wedding in Spain looking dapper in a tuxedo, but it wasn’t long before he became the center of attention. As the couple exchanged vows, the beloved dog quietly settled into his mom’s gown, turning an already sweet moment into one guests will never forget.

The bride, groom, and their loved ones laughed as Mambo seemed totally unbothered by the fact that his chosen spot was also the pristine white train of his mom's dress. As far as Mambo was concerned, it was his wedding, too.

View this post on Instagram

Viewers of this video also couldn't get enough of Mambo's marriage antics:

"Isn’t that what the train is for?" asked one Mambo defender. "It’s a soft tulle doggy bed."

"The fanciest dog bed I’ve seen LOL," added another fan.

"Dogs really do make everything magical," summed up a third.

Magical, yes, but having canine members in a wedding party can also be a handful. While extremely amusing, Mambo's behavior was also a best-case scenario.

How to Include Your Dog in Your Wedding Without the Chaos

As adorable as it sounds to have your dog play a role in your wedding, experts say it’s important to consider your pet’s personality before making plans. A calm, social dog who enjoys meeting new people is much more likely to thrive in a wedding setting than one who becomes anxious around crowds, loud noises, or unfamiliar environments.

It’s also important to think through the logistics. Before inviting your pup, make sure your venue allows pets and consider factors like weather, especially for breeds that can struggle in the heat. Experts also recommend assigning a dedicated pet handler for the day—someone whose sole job is to make sure your dog is comfortable, exercised, fed, and supervised throughout the event.

Having a backup plan can help, too. Even the most well-behaved dog can become overwhelmed by all the excitement, so it’s wise to plan ahead for unexpected barking, distractions, or an early exit. Some couples even arrange for a pet sitter to take their dog home after the ceremony, allowing them to be part of the big moment without the stress of a long day.

If it turns out your dog isn’t the type to make a live appearance during the ceremony, there are plenty of lower-stress ways to make them part of the celebration. Many couples include their pet in pre-wedding photos, feature them on invitations or place cards, or incorporate them into custom details, such as naming a signature drink after them.

Judging by Mambo’s behavior, though, he handled the attention like a pro—even if he did decide the bride’s dress was the best seat in the house.

Huge Cane Corso Gets Evicted From His Own Bed by a Tiny Kitten

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 7:10am

My dogs are similar in size, though my Pug mix is definitely more husky and muscular than his Dachshund sister. Still, despite her feminine frame, my Doxie is definitely the boss in their relationship. She commands a room and has an air of authority that my Puggie respects and doesn't cross.

Diesel is a massively large Cane Corso who seems to have the same compliant spirit regardless of size, where his little kitten brother easily gets his own way.

In the TikTok from @lah.dee.dah.dee, Diesel sat in front of his dog bed with a look of defeat on his face. Apparently, the Cane Corso cutie wanted to take a nap, but his kitten brother beat him to the punch. Their mom tried to encourage the put-out pooch to stand up for himself.

"Diesel, that is your bed," she confirmed, as Diesel gave her a dejected stare. "That's your bed. You can tell him to move."

Still, Diesel didn't prompt his feline sibling to leave. The crestfallen canine seemed to just give up, like he couldn't be bothered with any sort of debate.

Finally, Diesel gently nudged the feline fur baby in the hopes of the cat going somewhere else, but to no avail. The Cane Corso looked at his mom for backup, almost like he was saying "Mommmm, he's not moving."

The video ended before any resolution was made. Followers commented on the major size differential between the two fur babies and considered Diesel a gentle giant:

  • "100 pound dog being owned by a 3 pound kitty," one remarked.
  • "The bigger the dog, the softer the heart," another shared.
  • "He is saying 'mom please ask him for me — I’m nervous',” a follower commented.
  • "He's like, I'm too nice mom I don't wanna hurt his feelings," someone posted.
How Big Does a Cane Corso Get?

The Cane Corso, or Italian Mastiff, can be translated from Latin as "guard dog of the courtyard". These dogs weigh well over 100 pounds and can stand 28 inches tall at the shoulders when they reach adulthood.

A muscular working breed, the Cane Corso is very intelligent, eager to please and extremely loyal to their loved ones. This breed comes in several coat colors including black, black brindle, chestnut brindle, fawn, gray, gray brindle and red.

And as Diesel beautifully illustrates, the Cane Corso has a very sweet and loving heart.

Orange Cat Spent 10 Years Waiting for a Home—His Freedom Ride Will Move You

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 6:55am

Get ready to cry at this extremely emotional video about senior cat adoption, 10 years in the making.

In a new viral and heart-wrenching video, we meet a senior Orange Cat named Martin, who had been waiting to be adopted for 10 years.

When he had finally been chosen and was on his freedom ride to his forever home, the emotions ran high. As it turns out, this poor kitty had suffered from many health issues, and viewers everywhere are being moved by this sweet senior cat's beautiful journey.

@thelittlepawsiss

He gently placed his little paw on my shoulder, as if he was asking, „Where are we going?“ 🥹 We found Martin in a small village where everyone knew each other. We were visiting family there for Orthodox Easter when we came across him. People in the village told us about his story. After a separation and divorce, his previous owners had left him behind more than ten years ago. Since then, Martin had been wandering through the village without a home for an entire decade. Thankfully, one kind woman fed him from time to time and put a collar around his neck for safety although it was actually very dangerous because it had no safety release and he could have strangled himself with it anywhere. After hearing about his situation, we didn’t hesitate for long. We picked him up and took him straight to the vet. There, we found out that he wasn’t chipped. After so many years without proper care, his teeth had to be completely cleaned, and he suffered from several chronic illnesses (Kidney failure, severe arthritis, and fractured bones in his back and a vertebra that should have been operated on). He had cataracts and was severely dehydrated… Even the vet told us that most people would never take in a cat that old and sick. But we already knew we were going to do it anyway. We cared for Martin for two years, until he became a completely different cat from the one we had first found. In the beginning, he was apathetic, distant, and didn’t even know how to play or cuddle anymore. Those were things he had to learn again over time. Taking him in was one of the best decisions of our lives. Had we not taken him in, he most likely would have passed away from kidney failure all alone in that village, with nobody by his side #rescue #rescueanimals #martin #orangecats

♬ Sand Drawing - Judah Earl

If you managed not to cry when you saw that little foot on his new parent's shoulder, you are very strong!

The comments on this video about this senior cat adoption were almost as emotional as the actual video!

"Omg… And he looks like he feels safe and is seeing the world for the first time," one person wrote.

"Thank you for saving him," another wrote.

"I’m crying. Thank you for saving that sweet boy. I wish you and Martin a wonderful life filled with love," another person said.

How To Help a Senior Cat Adjust to a New Home

Bringing a senior cat home, like Martin, can be extremely rewarding but also challenging.

Senior cat adoption is very rare. According to 11pets.com, only 8% of senior or elderly cats (7 years or older) are adopted per year.

The number of senior dogs adopted is closer to 14%, so it's tough out there for senior kitties.

In the video caption, it says that Martin had a number of health problems, including kidney failure, arthritis, fractured bones in his back, cataracts, and dehydration.

Most people wouldn't take in a kitty that sick, but Martin's new forever family was different.

If you're thinking of adopting a senior cat, there are a few important things to keep in mind.

Unlike kittens, senior cats already have established routines, so coming into a new environment can be overwhelming for them.

They can act out or hide and be very shy before finding their footing.

What helps them feel safe is providing a comfortable space, establishing a consistent feeding schedule, and just giving them love and affection regularly.

It sounds like Martin had a bit of an adjustment period, as he had forgotten what it was like to have a caring family, but once he felt secure and had a place in his new home, he thrived.

7 Funny (and Adorable) Realities of Having a French Bulldog, Vets Say

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 5:10am

There are so many dog breeds out there to love, but there’s one in particular that’s captured the hearts of Americans and held onto it tight for four years in a row: the French Bulldog. If you've always dreamed of having one, you're probably curious what it’s like having one. To give you an insight on what it's like living with a Frenchie, we rounded up 7 funny and adorable realities of having a French Bulldog, according to vets.

After all, a French Bulldog's personality is unlike any other pup's. Combine that with this petite pooch's sweet, squashed-in face and big eyes and it's easy to see why this small dog breed is hard to resist. In fact, they are so popular that they even recently displaced the Labrador Retriever as America’s favorite breed, despite three decades of being the top dog.

There’s so much to love about these cute dogs, but they do have some silly and cute quirks that you may not be aware of. So, if you’re considering getting a French Bulldog, it’s worth being well informed about what being their pet parent can actually involve. Here’s what vets want you to know before getting one.

7 Funny and Adorable French Bulldog Traits French Bulldogs are full of silly, expressive moments like this.

Getty Images Westend61

French Bulldogs are full of personality, and it shows in the little things they do every day. From their silly habits to their affectionate nature, these French Bulldog traits are what make the breed so funny and lovable.

They Were Bred to Be Furry Besties

Of all the cute qualities French Bulldogs have, the fact that they fully commit to the role of your best friend whether you’re ready for it or not, is the the sweetest. These devoted dogs don’t just enjoy being around you, they genuinely want to be part of your everyday life.

“French Bulldogs see themselves as your best buddy,” says Chyrle Bonk, DVM, a veterinarian at Embrace Pet Insurance.

That deep, easy companionship didn’t happen by accident, though. “Frenchies were originally bred in the 1800s to be companion animals for lace workers in England and later became popular society pets in France,” says Garrett Schuilenberg, DVM, managing veterinarian at Small Door Vet. “Because they were engineered purely to be lapdogs and household companions rather than working or hunting dogs, their entire focus is interacting with humans."

And that’s exactly why life with a French Bulldog feels less like having a pet and more like having a tiny, opinionated best friend who always wants to be part of everything you do.

They Snore…Loudly

One of the most surprisingly hilarious things about French Bulldogs is just how loudly they can sleep, especially for such a small dog.

Their compact airways and flat faces give them that signature snorting, snuffling, and snoring soundtrack that many owners come to find oddly comforting, even if it sounds like a tiny freight train at night.

Because of their brachycephalic (flat-faced) structure, French Bulldogs are more prone to noisy breathing and snoring, according to veterinarians. While it’s often normal for the breed, it can become more noticeable during sleep or after exercise.

Still, many pet parents say it’s just part of the charm, which is proof they’re getting a good, deep rest nearby.

They Think They’re Bigger Than They Are

Another funny personality trait of Frenchies? Despite their small size, these pups often carry themselves with a surprisingly bold, confident attitude. So even though French Bulldogs are smart enough to understand what’s being asked of them, they like to be stubborn and decide whether something is worth participating in. In other words, if your Frenchie decides now is not the time to sit, come, or move off the couch, it’s not confusion—it’s negotiation.

“Their intelligence makes them capable of learning and excelling at obedience and other training, but without proper motivation, they can be very independent and selective,” Bonk explains.

You Have to Clean Their Wrinkles

Just like people have a skincare routine and wash their face, a Frenchie's skin also needs to be pampered, which most new French Bulldog pet parents don't know.

"While their adorable, soft folds and wrinkles may give them their unmistakable expression, they can also trap moisture, creating the perfect environment for bacteria and fungi to grow," Bonk explains. "This can make their skin red, hot, and itchy."

So while it may seem silly, if you're a pet parent of a Frenchie it's your job to keep their wrinkles looking nice. “Frenchies frequently need their wrinkles cleaned,” advises Noe Galvan, DVM, lead emergency veterinarian.

They Follow You Everywhere

Don’t be surprised if you suddenly have a new pal in the bathroom. French Bulldogs are famous for being little shadow dogs, always finding a way to be wherever their favorite human happens to be. “They want to be with their people and enjoy short play sessions as well as lounging on the couch.”

Schuilenberg calls French bulldogs the ultimate velcro dogs. "They have an innate biological drive to be close to their human pack,” he says. “While this makes them incredibly affectionate, it also means they are highly prone to separation anxiety if they aren't taught how to be alone from an early age. To a Frenchie, your personal space is their personal space.”

They Tend to Be Gassy

One of the more funny (and slightly embarrassing) French Bulldog traits is that they’re not exactly subtle about passing gas. To be fair, bulldogs in general have a reputation for being little “gas factories,” and Frenchies are no exception. “Empirically speaking, they are gassy little creatures,” Galvan shares. “But they may just be less shy about letting off some gas than other breeds.”

Part of this comes down to their easygoing, relaxed personalities, but anatomy plays a role too. Schuilenberg explains that their flat-faced structure means French Bulldogs tend to swallow extra air while eating, drinking, or even getting excited. “All that trapped air has to go somewhere, resulting in a notorious amount of flatulence,” he says.

And while it might not be their most glamorous trait, most Frenchie owners will tell you it just comes with the territory of living with such a funny, lovable little companion.

They Are Goofballs

One of the most lovable French Bulldog traits is just how unapologetically silly they are. If you’re looking for a fun-loving pet, a Frenchie’s goofy personality won’t disappoint.

“These dogs are incredibly expressive, dramatic, and goofy,” says Schuilenberg. “As a result, French Bulldogs know exactly how to use their vocalizations and facial expressions to keep your attention.”

A French Bulldog's personality often turns everyday moments into comedy, with many pet parents describing them as little clowns packed into a compact body. “They are the comedic relief of any household,” adds Galvan.

And honestly, that sense of humor is a big part of what makes living with a French Bulldog so endlessly entertaining.

After a 7-Year Break, This California Zoo Has Welcomed a Rare New Resident

Tue, 06/16/2026 - 10:51pm

It’s always exciting to catch a new animal on exhibit at your local zoo. It’s even more special when it’s a newborn, as you get a chance to watch early behaviors up close and gain a better understanding of how they interact with the world from a young age.

Visitors at the Los Angeles Zoo have a lot to be excited about this week with the birth of a rare new resident, the first of its kind born there in seven years. Spending most of his days right now behind the scenes, the new baby Grevy’s zebra is bonding closely with his mother and getting comfortable with his new surroundings.

A Rare Grevy’s Zebra Foal Is Born at the L.A. Zoo Female Grevy's zebra with her male foal

Carl Myers / courtesy of L.A. Zoo

Marking the first time since 2019 that the L.A. Zoo has welcomed a Grevy’s zebra, the new foal represents a meaningful milestone for the zoo's animal care team. And while the young zebra is still getting acclimated to the world around him, guests have already been able to catch brief glimpses of him as he learns to explore.

“This is an exciting birth for the Zoo and for the entire animal care team,” said Dominick Dorsa II, Director of Animal Care at L.A. Zoo. “It’s been quite some time since we’ve had a Grevy’s zebra foal at the Zoo, and now guests will be able to see the behaviors of a juvenile zebra that they may have not experienced before.”

Related: This Crash-Tested Essential Is a Game Changer for Pet Safety

What Makes Grevy’s Zebras So Unique

True to his roots, this handsome new foal features a stripe pattern that is as unique as your own fingerprint. Native to the semi-arid grasslands of southern Ethiopia and northern Kenya, Grevy’s zebras are the largest of the three zebra species, which include the Grevy’s zebra (Equus grevyi), the common zebra (Equus burchelli) and the mountain zebra (Equus zebra).

On average, adult males stand about 5 feet tall at the shoulders and can weigh up to a whopping 1,000 pounds. Females, on the other hand, are about 10 percent smaller than males, though still nothing to mess with. And while their life expectancy in the wild is usually around 12 to 13 years, Grevy’s zebras can live up to 30 years in zoo settings.

Why This Birth Matters

The new Grevy’s arrival doesn’t just mark a special moment for the L.A. Zoo, it also presents an opportunity to raise awareness of the species’ population decline. Grevy’s are classified as Endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and fewer than 2,000 remain in the wild today. Over the last 40 years, populations have declined by 54 percent due to things like habitat loss, unregulated hunting, diseases and predation.

“This birth not only helps support the Grevy’s zebra’s population in North America, but it will undoubtedly help educate guests about this important animal,” said Dorothy Belanger, Curator of Mammals at L.A. Zoo. “Guests visiting the Zoo will have the unique opportunity to observe this young animal and build a connection with the species. We’re thrilled for this new zebra and how it will help shape the minds of our guests and hopefully inspire them to be a part of the conservation of wildlife and nature.”

If you’re looking to get a peek at the newest L.A. Zoo resident, the little guy is expected to be regularly on exhibit beginning sometime next week, weather permitting. Gather the family, make a day of it and see up close what makes this beautiful species so special.

This Adorable Black Cat's Adoption Story Is Too Cute to Miss

Tue, 06/16/2026 - 9:48pm

In the world of animal shelters, there is no such thing as "I am just going to look around." One man made the mistake of taking a casual look at one shelter's website when a black cat caught his attention.

Then he made another "mistake." He drove to the shelter to meet her. Somehow, she was cuter in person, and now he is having the biggest debate of his life.

The Cat Was Not the Problem

For this cat lover, the challenge was everything else. As he explained in a Reddit post on r/blackctas, he is not in the most stable financial situation. There is the chance of moving within the next year. On top of that, he has a 5-year-old cat at home.

Simple logic said to leave the cat, but the emotional side was too big to ignore. He has already fallen in love. He said, "It's really head vs heart here."

There Are No Mistakes, Just Happy Incidents

Redditors fell in love with the black cat as well. One person responded with a quote many recognize: "There are no mistakes, just happy little accidents," coined by the legendary Bob Ross.

Another added, "It's just a cat. It's just a black cat. And here's all of us losing our minds over little miss cutie pie!"

Related: 'Shut-Down' Black Cat Spent 899 Days in Shelter — Then One Moment Changed Everything

The Journey Ahead

The man explained that adopting the cat was just the first step. Now comes the hard part. His cat at home and his new rescue need to learn to be friends. He also needs to solve his financial situation.

For the second challenge, one commenter offered a bright perspective, saying, "I think as long as you can provide the care and love she needs, you should do it. Voids are the best."

The first part will be a challenge as well. Both his adopted and first cat are 5 years old. They both don't like other cats, but in a passive way. OP doesn't believe there will be fighting, and eventually, they will find a way to live together.

After all, he drove to the shelter the same day he saw her photo and carried her around on his arm. The list of reasons not to adopt never really stood a chance.

Sweet Blind Pup Has the Best Reaction to 'Seeing' Beach Waves for the First Time

Tue, 06/16/2026 - 8:52pm

Anyone with a disabled fur baby can attest, they are just as full of life and new discoveries as their typically abled counterparts.

Take sweet baby Gus, an absolutely adorable blind dog whose mom shares his adventures with his brother, Gilligan, on TikTok. While exploring the beach in the Pacific Northwest, Gus got to "see" waves for the first time, and his reaction and joy is palpable and not to be missed.

@gilligan.and.gus

Sweet baby Gus 💙 #dog #blinddog #beach #outdoors #pnw

♬ original sound - bitterexwifechronicles

Many TikTok users pointed out the serenity and wonder of the moment between sweet baby Gus and the waves at the beach:

  • "Nature saw a beautiful soul and ran to touch it."
  • "Those waves or the perfect height for his size and confidence level. They were present enough for him to experience and interact with them, but not so large/strong that they overwhelmed him. he's so happy and silly"
  • "Mother Earth playing with the baby"
How to Train a Blind Dog

Working with a blind dog requires patience, structure, and a little creativity. Surprisingly, it's often very similar to training their sighted counterparts, just relying a bit more on sound, smell and touch rather than visual indicators. It's also important to make sure your pup is in a stable, consistent environment and to always use positive reinforcement.

Some other tips to consider when working with a dog who is blind:

  • Avoid rearranging furniture or putting them in a totally new environment when trying to work on other skills.
  • Textures can be great aids for letting them know where they are in a space.
  • "Luring" with treats can help them learn new body positions like "sit" and "down."
  • Clear, direct sounds are key when training since your dog cannot see you.
  • Always remember that you are their eyes!

With proper training and lots of love, blind dogs can live just as full lives as their sighted friends. And even if they can't see it, as evidenced by sweet Gus, they can still very much appreciate the world around them.

Giant Cane Corso Meets a Tiny Kitten for the First Time and Completely Melts

Tue, 06/16/2026 - 8:20pm

Some of the world's biggest, most intimidating dogs are the greatest protectors and sweetest, gentlest souls. Diesel, the Cane Corso, may have a tough-looking exterior, but the day he met the new kitten for the first time, he bucked those stereotypes and let his true-blue "big softie" personality shine through.

Diesel is a Cane Corso with a huge heart, and from the moment he met the tiny kitten named Nimbus, it's been beating for his little buddy.

The gentle giant was immediately enamored with such a cute little guy, so much so that he paid extra attention to step not on him—and by the looks of it, the feeling was mutual.

The initial meet-and-greet went well, but Diesel's mom wasn't surprised one bit. Known to fans as a real sweetheart, the adorable Cane Corso seems like he was made to be a big brother to the energetic, carefree bundle of cute kitten chaos!

Much of this may have to do with the training the huge pooch had when he was 6 to 7 months old (which Mom discusses in multiple clips like this one).

He joined the crew around 2 years old, fully socialized, trained, and ready to show his new family what a good boy he is.

As with many other big breeds, never judge a dog (book) by their cover. Diesel is nothing but pure mush when it comes to his kitten brother. Though there's no official post celebrating when Nimbus first joined the family, he's much bigger now and still just as wild and free.

No matter how small or big the kitty is, sweet Diesel still isn't sure how to politely ask Nimbus to get off his bed!

♬ Western Music: Arizona Dreaming - Piero Piccioni Are Cane Corso Dogs Good With Other Pets?

With a name roughly translated to "bodyguard dog," Cane Corso dogs were originally bred as guardian dogs during ancient Roman times.

Because of their size alone (often weighing 100 pounds or more), they're really good at fending off potential intruders at first sight—that's their real talent!

These pups are incredibly smart, confident, and highly trainable dogs willing to go the extra mile for those they love. Like Diesel, this is a loyal breed who loves to the nth degree, whether it's for their humans or even a tiny new kitten
