Cats have a way of being, well, unbothered. Buy them expensive new food, and they may turn up their nose. Bring home a fancy new bed, and they’ll probably choose the cardboard box instead.

But one Tabby cat named Tiger may have taken that famously unfazed attitude to a whole new level when a large Black Bear cub showed up at the door of his Aspen, Colorado home.

He didn’t run. He didn’t jump. He barely even moved. Instead, this kitty remained planted in his chair, staring at the unexpected visitor like he couldn’t quite believe the audacity.

Tiger kept a very close eye on the bear, but apparently wasn’t concerned enough to give up his seat. And for a moment, the stare-down and hissing actually seemed to work. The bear cub paused at the doorway and backed away, almost as if he’d realized he’d entered someone else’s territory.

Unfortunately, he didn’t take the hint for long.

The bear returned and casually walked through the open door, while Tiger continued watching from his chair with an expression that seemed to say, “Excuse me, no one invited you.”

Fortunately, the bear was apparently interested in the trash rather than his tiny feline host. He got into the trash can and then quickly left.

As it turns out, Tiger has quite a story of his own. According to his Instagram profile (@tiger.vieni), he was found injured in Rifle, Colorado, at 5 years old before Journey Home Animal Rescue saved him and helped him find his forever home.

So perhaps this tough little rescue has seen enough in his life that even a Black Bear wandering through the front door wasn’t enough to make him surrender his favorite chair.

Viewers couldn’t get enough of his reaction. @miriam.sharma called him: “Absolutely INDIGNANT. Cats are the funniest.” while another person joked, “If not friend, why friend shaped?”

@audreylareine327 may have summed up the scene best, noting the “Fear and incomprehension in the poor cat’s eyes.”

The timing of this visit isn’t a coincidence. According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), Black Bears enter a period of compulsive overeating called hyperphagia in the fall, feeding for up to 22 hours a day and consuming as many as 20,000 calories daily as they prepare for hibernation. CPW notes that bears working to find those calories can easily damage property, vehicles, and homes in the process.

Of course, remaining perfectly still was probably a pretty good decision with a bear standing just a few feet away. But watching this kitty refuse to surrender his chair while an uninvited guest strolls through the door makes the whole encounter look less like a wildlife emergency and more like a cat dealing with the rudest houseguest he’s ever met.

It may come as a surprise to know that German Shepherds come in more than a dozen colors. Black and tan are the most common hues, but there are a few really cool, extremely rare color palettes that many aren’t aware of, like a gorgeous shade of blue-gray that resembles a muted gray eye shadow.

When it comes to showing the beauty of these blue-gray German Shepherds, one stunning girl comes to mind, and she’s SO fluffy, you’d think she had marsupial DNA like a koala!

Blue German Shepherd Maeve isn’t only a showstopper with her fur shade and general “floof,” but she’s also one chatty queen! This is one opinionated pup who doesn’t like the word “no,” but she sure looks cute arguing with Mom about it.

As a model of her breed’s lesser-known traits, Maeve has been compared to koalas, werewolves, wolves, and stuffies, but she’s 100% perfect. If there isn’t a stuffie out there with Maeve’s look, someone please get on that!

This Blue Bay Shepherd isn’t only beautiful, but she’s way too smart for her own good. When Mom couldn’t figure out why the vacuum would stop suddenly, she finally discovered the culprit:

If you’re new to a blue girl like Maeve, welcome to the club! The shade is the result of a recessive dilution gene that lightens the black pigment in the dog’s coat, skin, nose, and eyes and transforms them into this pretty, soft blue-gray tint. Shepherds can only garner this color if both parents pass down the rare gene, which seems nearly impossible.

The AKC doesn’t recognize “blue” as a standard German Shepherd color, and their rarity stems from a lack of reputable breeders. Pups with the gene carry a higher risk of developing color dilution alopecia, a progressive skin and hair loss condition, but are otherwise just as loyal and smart as any other Shepherd.

Other rare colors German Shepherds can have are white, liver, black and silver, black and cream, and the extremely cool-looking, multicolored “panda.” However Maeve came to be in this world, her canine (and possibly marsupial!) ancestors must be proud!

It’s no easy feat getting perfectly styled hair. Some of us spend more than half an hour in front of the mirror trying to get a flawless hairdo. Others just need a bit of saltwater to get a nice texture, just like this dog going viral on TikTok.

A Golden Retriever named Zebby spent the day at the beach, and the video shows off the pup’s features, enhanced by the sand, saltwater, and long day of playing. In fact, this pup’s fur was looking particularly 1980s-esque. Others would kill for this kind of texture!

OMG, look at the crimping on those ears! Zebby has a variety of textures in his fur, giving him a hip and cool ’80s vibe. This Golden surely had a great day at the beach, and now he has beautiful fur to top it off. What a lucky pup!

People in the comments couldn’t get enough of this Golden’s ears. One person said, “Oh, I just adore his ear crimps,” and another viewer commented, “He even got the beach curls, OMG.”

Other viewers shared photos of their own Golden Retrievers after a day playing at the beach. In the pics, the dogs all have lovely beach waves in their fur, and some even have the same crimping of their ears. One commenter added, “The crimped hair is so real. My Golden’s ears also get like that.”

It seems that the secret to perfect hair is a dog-like beach day!

As cool as this crimped post-beach fur is, you’ll probably want to groom your dog a bit after the beach. To get your pup clean and happy after a beach trip, there are a few steps you should take.

First and foremost, rinse your dog with fresh water. Washing your pup with clean, lukewarm water removes sticky salt and hidden sand, which helps prevent painful mats. Saltwater may dry out skin and could cause painful hotspots. A rinse will do your pup wonders!

Next, check your dog’s paws and ears. Cleaning between paw pads and toes helps remove trapped sand and small shells, and thoroughly drying the ears can prevent infections caused by excess moisture. These small tasks are instrumental in keeping your pup happy and healthy.

Lastly, dry their fur and brush out their coat. You can either use a towel, or for a more complete dry, use a blow-dryer on a cool setting. Once they’re dry, brush out their fur to release any remaining loose sand and prevent tangles.

Lindsay Tauban is going to bring one of those puppies home soon; now, it’s only a matter of choosing which one will be the best fit. This was their first meeting. One of these puppies met their forever mom today… But she’s finding it hard to choose.

How could you not? They’re all so cute, and they’re all looking at her like the aliens from Toy Story, except she is the claw! I want to be the claw! I want a Golden Retriever puppy so badly. Hopefully, whoever she chooses will remember meeting her.

I can’t tell if she loves or hates that blanket. It seems like the answer is probably a little bit of both. Luckily, bringing the puppy home when they’re young like this will help them bond better: hopefully she’s a little nicer to her sibling than she is to her blanket!

The breeder Lindsay went to doesn’t go as far as pre-matching a puppy to each family: it’s most likely first-come, first-served. Beyond screening the families and making sure it’s safe for their pups, a lot of breeders do it this way.

If it’s on you to choose your own puppy, it’s kind of just a shot in the dark. Their personalities have started coming through, but they’re not in full bloom just yet. You don’t know who they’re going to be! However, there are some things you can do:

• Know if you’re looking for a rambunctious or a shier, more subdued pup.
• Ask what they’ve been like during their time with the breeder.
• Sit and watch the puppies play for a while.
• If you’re allowed, go into the pen and see which puppies show the most interest in you.

Speaking from experience, when you know, you know. You need to be careful, though: sometimes they bamboozle you. I chose the “quiet” puppy over the one who was smacking all of her siblings around. Turns out, mine just wanted to smack her siblings around at home!

It’s always fun when our pets look like a celebrity or a different animal.

But this Scottish Straight black smoke cat may take the cake, as he looks remarkably like the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland.

Though the Cheshire Cat was said to be inspired by the British Shorthair cat due to the character’s round face and natural smile, this lookalike is a Scottish Straight.

A Scottish Straight, however, is often confused for a Scottish Fold. So what’s the difference between these two?

To be fair, the two cats are quite similar, so it makes sense why people confuse them.

Both the Scottish Fold and Scottish Straight cats come from the same gene pool in Scotland, and they can have either long or short hair.

They are literally identical except for the shape of their ears.

As you can guess, the Scottish Fold has folded ears, while the Scottish Straight has straight, pointy ears.

So why does this occur?

The Scottish Fold ears are a result of a dominant gene mutation that impacts cartilage, according to Wunderfolds.

If the kitten inherits this gene, they’ll have folded ears.

If it doesn’t inherit the gene, then it would be a Scottish Straight.

Two Scottish Folds should never be bred, as it can lead to the kittens having health issues and deformities.

An ethical breeder should breed a Scottish Straight with a Scottish Fold in order to have healthy Scottish Fold kittens.

Of course, it isn’t guaranteed that you would get all Scottish Fold kittens with this pairing, as you could get all Scottish Straights or a combination of the two.

I am an absolute sucker for a pet with a name that fits so perfectly you wonder if the universe personally filled out the birth certificate. My own Maine Coon named Meatball? Correct. My sister’s huge German Shepherd named Godzilla? Obviously. And a black and white Maine Coon kitten with a dramatic split face named Cruella De Vil? We can all go home. Nobody is topping this.

Tiny Cruella has half black and half white coloring on her face, beautiful blue eyes, and the kind of enormous Maine Coon feet that look like they were accidentally shipped with a much larger cat. She’s basically the baby version of a glamorous Disney villain — except instead of plotting something terrible, she’s just standing there being fluffy and looking adorable.

Five weeks apart and somehow genetics said copy, paste, flip horizontal…but put the extra toes. They seriously look like little mirror images of each other. Cruella hasn’t even had time to become a giant Maine Coon yet and she’s already walking around on snowshoes. It’s one of my favorite things about Maine Coon kittens. Their proportions can be completely bonkers for a while because they’re growing into a very large adult cat.

Cruella currently appears to have been assembled from:

• One tiny kitten body.
• Four jumbo paws.
• Two enormous ears.
• One fabulous split face.
• And enough villain energy to eventually take over the entire house.

The stunning cat above is from the same cattery so it’s obviously these amazing colors run in the family! And check out the paws. Those giant paws aren’t exactly surprising because Maine Coons are one of the largest domestic cat breeds.

Adult males can commonly weigh somewhere around 18 pounds or more, while females are generally smaller, although individual cats can fall outside typical ranges. Maine Coons also mature slowly and may continue growing for several years.

I can confirm that the end result can be substantial. My Maine Coon Meatball is around 20 pounds and has reached the stage where “cat” doesn’t always seem like an adequate description. Furry ottoman feels more accurate.

Having a large cat also means thinking about supersized versions of normal cat stuff. Bigger litter boxes, sturdy cat trees and carriers that can accommodate all that fluff can make life easier.

And grooming matters. That beautiful long Maine Coon coat can develop mats, so regular coat care is important. Ask me how I know, eye roll.

Cruella has plenty of growing to do before she reaches furry ottoman status.

For now, she’s just a tiny black and white villain with giant feet, blue eyes and absolutely no idea how ridiculously fabulous she looks.

I am SO ready for fall. Give me crisp mornings, mums, ridiculous amounts of fall decor and any excuse to wander around looking at pumpkins I absolutely do not need. I am over being hot. Summer has had its turn and can kindly pack its little suitcase.

But apparently there was one thing missing from my fall plans: a Black Lab puppy sitting in an entire pile of pumpkins. Because once you see this tiny black potato surrounded by orange pumpkins, you realize every pumpkin patch should come with puppies. This should be mandatory.

There’s really no wrong season to bring home a dog when you’re prepared for the commitment, but fall can have some nice advantages. Also October is adopt a shelter dog month.

The cooler weather can make those frequent outdoor potty trips with a new puppy a little more pleasant than standing outside sweating in July. Walks can be more comfortable, too, especially once summer’s extreme heat is behind us.

Fall can also be a good time to establish a routine before the craziness of the winter holidays arrives. A newly adopted dog needs time to learn the household schedule, get comfortable with their new family and figure out important things like where to sleep and which person is most likely to drop cheese.

Of course, adopting a dog shouldn’t be an impulse decision just because you saw a ridiculously cute puppy sitting next to a pumpkin. Dogs need training, veterinary care, exercise, food, patience and a lifelong commitment.

Which is why I’m going to behave responsibly and simply admire this baby through my screen.

Probably.

Although if a pumpkin patch starts handing out Black Lab puppies with every $20 purchase, nobody tell me.

Fall is coming, which means I’m entering my favorite time of year. I want the windows cracked, something warm to drink and approximately 14 extra blankets scattered around the house so I can grab one whenever I get the slightest bit chilly. If the temperature drops below 70, I’m basically preparing to hibernate.

Apparently, I would need to guard my blanket supply very carefully if I lived with this Golden Retriever. Every night, this adorable boy makes the rounds collecting blankets from around the house so he can construct his own luxurious cuddle nest on the living room floor. He doesn’t want a blanket. He wants ALL available blankets.

He has a routine.

The Golden Retriever wanders around gathering blankets and pulling them off beds before hauling everything back to the living room. Eventually, he’s assembled a giant fluffy pile where he can curl up and take a nap.

Excuse me, sir.

I especially love imagining somebody walking into the bedroom at bedtime and discovering the comforter missing.

If your dog circles, paws at blankets or rearranges their bedding before lying down, they’re not necessarily being weird. Nesting and digging behaviors can be a normal part of getting comfortable.

Dogs may paw, turn and rearrange soft materials until they’ve created a sleeping spot that feels just right. Blankets can also provide warmth and a cozy place to settle, which makes the whole ritual even more appealing.

Some dogs take this process considerably more seriously than others.

I can’t even criticize him because this is basically my own fall evening routine. Gather blankets. Find the softest spot. Get snacks. Arrange everything precisely. Become furious if someone asks me to move.

The only difference is that I generally don’t walk into someone else’s bedroom and drag their comforter down the hallway with my teeth.

Generally.

This Golden knows exactly what he wants. Fall is coming. Blanket season has begun.

And apparently all household blankies now belong to him.

This 5-year-old rescue Parrot, Berry, gets the award for the sweetest, most happy-making bird on the internet. Thanks to Mom Jen via @the_green_bird_brigade, the whole world can join in on this adorable boy’s precious humming and tippy-tap dance.

“Berry is humming again,” the caption says. As explained, Berry was “surrendered because his family was struggling with his hormonal and aggressive behavior,” adding, “They were unable to handle him or even get him to come out of his cage.” You wouldn’t know it by this sweet scene, but Berry is on his way to healing in his own musical way.

The best stories on the web are those with this type of realistic but happy ending. There’s a still a journey to be had until Berry feels renewed, but thanks to a devoted family, he’s well on his way. Every pet deserves a second chance, and Berry is proof.

As a member of the Parrot family, Conures are active, highly intelligent birds with complex problem-solving skills and can quickly learn plenty for cool tricks. Their IQ and curiosity are why many compare them to human toddlers, and as Berry shows, they enjoy being challenged if it means they’re learning something new.

While Conures aren’t the most talkative species, they can learn a few words and phrases, and they aren’t afraid to express their feelings through action as opposed to words.

As with any of these feathered friends, birds like Berry need a lot of mental and physical stimulation, or they can become bored and destructive—even screaming or feather plucking if they feel the need. Puzzles, toys, and cage-free time go a long way for a rescue bird like Berry, and we’re thrilled he’s finding his sweet voice again.

In the TikTok from @thelifeofalfiee, a special montage featured the fur baby belting out several tunes in quite an impressive vibrato. The precious pooch had almost perfect pitch in each scene and seemed to effortlessly hit every note.

Other posts on the social media account featured Alfie’s song stylings, where he performed some various scales and even his own version of carpool karaoke. The crooning Cocker Spaniel has clearly been working on his harmonies and isn’t shy about sharing his gift.

Followers applauded Alfie’s singing talent, with many comparing him to a famous film and Broadway star:

• “He kinda sounds like Hugh Jackman,” one pointed out.
• “Genuinely thought that he was singing ‘Amazing Grace’ at first,” another noted.
• “First one’s giving me ‘Look Down’ from Les Mis,” a follower posted.
• “I’m gonna have him perform at my wedding,” someone remarked.
• “Hugh Jackman is that you?!” a fan asked.

Many dogs get vocal through barking, whining, or howling. Like Alfie, some break out into what sounds like a song for no apparent reason.

This behavior traces back to their ancestral line of wolves, who would announce their location to the rest of the pack or simply howl in celebration. One wolf’s howl would often set off a chain reaction and prompt others to join in.

Dogs have since taken up this practice and get quite vocal when they hear certain tones or pitches. Rather than expressing a simple howl, some crooning canines go a step further and actually sing in tune.

Alfie has obviously excelled in this area and may soon be bombarded with performance requests.

It looks like the kind of plush toy that will quickly become your dog’s favorite household object. While Aldi doesn’t market it as a dog toy per se, the German grocer describes it as huggable plush. For dogs who love carrying plush toys as comfort items in their mouth, it’s an excellent find.

Of course, consider your dog before buying. Some dogs only nibble and mouth toys. Others chew through them within seconds. If you have an aggressive chewer, this plush toy is not something you want to bring home.

Aldi’s middle aisle has developed a cult following. Pet parents already know that the store cycles through pet events with amazing products at budget prices.

The Little Town line is part of the broader plush toy range and tends to disappear quickly.

Coffee is brown, butter is yellow, and Beagles are traditionally black and tan.

Or so we thought (well, except for Snoopy, who was black and white).

In a new viral video, we get to meet a rare chocolate Beagle puppy with the most striking eyes, and people are astounded.

This may not look like a traditional Beagle, but it sure is a beautiful little female chocolate puppy.

Chocolate coloring is more commonly referred to as liver, but we’ll stick with chocolate.

This Beagle also has what is known as red ticking on his coat: darker red and brown flecks, aka “ticks” (though it seems weird to call them ticks on a dog!) across their white fur on the chest, legs, and face.

This gives the chocolate Beagle a very distinctive look, especially since the standard American Kennel Club color for the breed is black and tan.

A chocolate red tick Beagle is rare, especially with striking blue eyes, which are very uncommon in this breed, but result from a genetic mutation or variation.

However, there are several other rare Beagle colors and combinations seen far less than the standard black-and-tan coat.

Other rare Beagle coat colors include blue, lilac, lemon, hare pied, and bluetick.

Most of these colors explain themselves, though hare pied is a little more complex.

The hare pied coat on a Beagle features hairs down the middle of the back with black tips, producing a speckled or “hare”-like appearance.

According to National Purebred Dog Day, a hare pied Beagle’s back hairs can come in different colors, but they always have black tips.

Another trademark of hare pied Beagles is that they have dark rims on their noses with pale centers, which are called butterfly noses.

Who knew Beagles were so diverse?!

I have a real problem with dogs who look like food. Toast-colored puppies, marshmallow Pomeranians, little chocolate Lab truffles … I want to eat them all up, and yes, I realize that sounds alarming when I write it down.

And now we have Layla. This teeny wheaten-colored Toy Schnauzer (aka, an even smaller than Miniature Schnauzer) has the exact warm brown swirly fluff of a cinnamon roll, except somebody gave this particular pastry four legs, perfect long eyelashes, and a pink plaid collar decorated with a flower and bow. She’s not just a cinnamon roll. She’s a cinnamon roll who has brunch reservations.

Layla stands there looking all sweet and fluffy, and that warm caramel cinnamon coat is almost too much. Then you notice those eyelashes, and it gets worse.

Things Layla currently resembles more than a dog:

1. A cinnamon roll that escaped the bakery.
2. A teddy bear wearing mascara.
3. A very fancy croissant.
4. Something I would accidentally spend $47 on at Anthropologie.

She is DELICIOUS.

First, a little terminology because dog names can get confusing. “Wheaten” refers to Layla’s gorgeous warm coat color. “Toy” is commonly used for especially small Schnauzers, but the AKC recognizes the Miniature Schnauzer rather than a separate Toy Schnauzer breed.

Whatever you call these tiny cuties, don’t let the size fool you. Schnauzers can pack a LOT of personality into a little body.

Miniature Schnauzers tend to be smart, lively, and affectionate dogs. They generally need regular exercise and things to occupy those busy brains, and training can help channel all that clever little dog energy.

That beautiful coat also requires upkeep. Schnauzers typically need regular grooming, and those fabulous beards aren’t going to maintain themselves.

These dogs are also known for being alert, which is a polite way of saying your tiny cinnamon roll may have several important announcements regarding the mail carrier.

Layla, however, appears far too glamorous for such nonsense.

She has eyelashes to flutter.

A flower to wear.

And presumably a bakery somewhere wondering where its cutest cinnamon roll went. She is too precious for words.

Maine Coons have a way of being incredibly adorable, no matter their age or color. And when they have the polydactyl gene, their already impressive paws can take that cuteness to a whole new level.

Jessie is a tiny black Maine Coon kitten with an extraordinary set of feet. She has seven toes on each back paw and six on each front, giving her oversized mitts that look like they belong on a baby bear rather than a kitten.

Mountain Peak Maine Coon (@mountain_peak_maine_coon) shared a look at Jessie and her spectacular paws in a September 7 Instagram post:

If you counted those toes more than once, you probably weren’t alone. Jessie’s little black paws are huge compared with the rest of her tiny body, and with all those individual toe beans lined up underneath, they somehow look even bigger from the bottom.

Her family jokingly described them as “ridiculous little bear feet,” and it’s hard to imagine a more accurate description. Between the fluffy black fur, enormous paws, and her serious little expression, she really does look a bit like a tiny bear cub wearing a cat costume.

Naturally, viewers couldn’t get enough of them. @misschillyone joked, “The better to walk on your face with.”

@pastelredemption may have found the best description of all: “Black bean crunchwrap supreme paws.”

And another viewer summed up the entire package, noting, “That face is priceless and those feet.”

By comparison, a typical cat has 18 toes: five on each front paw and four on each back paw. A kitty with even one additional digit is considered polydactyl. Jessie takes that to an entirely different level with 26 toes in all!

Those extra toes are a naturally occurring inherited trait. According to The International Cat Association (TICA), the polydactyly trait appeared early in the Maine Coon’s development, and the breed’s extra-large paws were once thought to function like “natural snowshoes” during snowy Maine winters.

There’s also some especially happy news for Jessie. Her family updated the post to share that she has found her forever staff and will be going home alongside her brother, Rex.

So those big bear mitts will have plenty of time to grow into the rest of her. Although hopefully not too quickly, because Jessie looking like she’s 50% kitten and 50% paws is pretty hard to beat.

I am a firm believer that the slightly unusual features are often the ones that make a pet ridiculously cute. Give me the crooked ear, the tongue that permanently sticks out, or the kitten whose paws seem three sizes too big for the rest of his body. Those are the faces I remember.

And then there’s Noodle. This precious tuxedo cat has the sweetest, cross-eyed little face, and she looks so much like an animated kitty that I half expect her to start talking. Throw in the name Noodle, and I’m done. There was never any chance of me resisting this cat. Come to mama.

Crossed-eyes in cats are known as strabismus, which means the eyes don’t align in the same direction.

Some cats can be born with strabismus, and it may simply be part of who they are. It has historically been associated with certain breeds, particularly Siamese and other cats with related ancestry. The good news is these cats are rarely blind and can adapt to their vision early in life.

However, crossed eyes can sometimes develop because of an injury, neurological problem, or another medical condition. If a cat suddenly becomes cross-eyed, develops unusual eye movements, or seems to have trouble seeing or moving normally, that’s something a veterinarian should evaluate.

For a cat who has always had crossed eyes and has been checked by a veterinarian, though, that distinctive gaze may simply be part of what makes them look like themselves.

And in Noodle’s case, I cannot imagine this little face any other way.

She has thousands of strangers lining up to tell her she’s pretty.

Frankly, Noodle has figured out life better than most of us.

Now somebody tell her she’s pretty again. I don’t think she’s heard it enough today.

One of my favorite things ever is witnessing teamwork. I’m a little too Type A to actually love partaking in a team myself, but I love watching it happen. I especially love it when animals team up to take care of their babies!

Recently, two precious Ragdoll cats decided they wanted to team up to take care of their kittens. Well, actually, it was more like one of them made the decision, and the mama cat just went along with it! She likes snuggles, too:

Pearl’s Ragdolls all get along famously. The cats and kittens are raised as part of the family, and that means they spend all of their time together. Kittens are very normal there, so every cat knows how to behave around them, too!

In this instance, the orange Ragdoll (Penny) is the aunt, and Cherry is the mom. Penny is actually helping to nurse the kittens in this video! She recently lost her only kitten, so she’s anxious to be involved in the other kittens’ lives, and her sister is more than willing to let her.

Penny adores those kittens as if they were her own. At this point, they’re old enough to be able to spend some time without their mom … But Penny will not leave them alone, even as they get older:

She just likes to be near them. Luckily for her, they don’t mind at all: they’re grateful to have someone warm who loves them! There’s so much love in their house!

One of the reasons Penny is so obsessed with her sister’s kittens is that she recently lost her own baby. She’d only had one, and they just couldn’t make it. All of that energy has to go somewhere!

If your cat has recently lost her kitten and you notice that she’s upset, there are some things you can try. First, you should consult your vet, especially if the symptoms are severe. After that:

• Try to get them back into a regular routine.
• Keep them busy with play, siblings, or even another kitten (with your vet’s approval).
• Make sure to comfort them.
• Consider medication for severe symptoms.

Luckily for Penny, she found her outlet. Even after her loss, she’s able to continue being helpful, and hopefully, she’ll be able to be a great mom to some happy, healthy kittens one day!

Both of my dogs get very animated when they see a new toy. My Pug does a little dance and spins in circles, unable to contain his excitement. His Dachshund sister gets vocal in anticipation with whines that morph into full-on barks. They both have creative ways of expressing their emotions.

Oreo the mini Bernedoodle puppy also seems to get quite enthusiastic the minute he sets his eyes on a new bone.

In the TikTok from @oreominibernedoodle, Oreo was presented with a brand new bone and immediately reacted with joy. The multicolored mop of fur danced around before even touching the bone, unable to control his pure delight.

Oreo jumped, pranced, scampered, and even rolled around the bone, too happy to calm down long enough to actually grab the bone for any length of time. Oreo managed to slide the bone around the floor, and then he took a break to figure out his next strategy. Somewhere along the way, he got sidetracked with a rug tag before turning his attention back to the task at hand.

The fluffy fur baby’s energetic antics resembled a plush toy in motion. Oreo’s mosaic-like coat of black, white, and cinnamon hues added to the sweetness of the scene. His wavy locks tumbled over his face and nearly hid his eyes, making him look like store-made stuffed animal come to life.

Followers raved over the canine cutie and posted some spot-on comparisons:

• “I have never seen a stuffed animal move like that. Hasbro is making them look so realistic these days!” one pointed out.

Oreo is clearly still in the puppy stage. Most mini Bernedoodles are close to their full physical maturity around 12 months old, though some may put on a few extra pounds and added inches after their 1st birthday.

Mini Bernedoodles typically way between 25 and 40 pounds at adulthood. Still, they may maintain that adorable puppy personality even when they’re fully grown.

Halloween is almost here, and I simply can’t wait. I love Halloween, mostly because I love seeing all of the decorations. I’m more of a cutesy Halloween decor girl over the spooky stuff, though. I just don’t love being scared!

Luckily for me, one of the cutest Halloween things ever has just happened: a black and orange tortoiseshell Maine Coon had a litter of kittens. There are five in the litter, and they’re all giving precious jack-o’-lantern vibes:

Pawz and Purz is a TICA-registered, British Columbia-based Maine Coon cattery. This is technically known as their “wildflower” litter and features five kittens: Oberon, Juno, Alfonse, Alfie, and Starsky. They’ve officially made it to their forever homes!

Their mom, Nalah, is a black and orange, tortoiseshell cat, and their dad, Milo, is a brown tabby. Their kittens are all in varying shades of black and orange! They were raised in the home, too, so adjusting to life with their forever families won’t be too hard on them.

The litter Nalah had is actually smaller than her mom predicted. She thought the cat would have eight kittens, but she only ended up with five! It’s not her fault, though: Nalah was pretty big! Just minutes before she gave birth, her mom took this video:

They’re not keeping any of the kittens from this litter, but that’s okay. They all found very loving homes, and there are plenty of cats in the cattery to go around.

There are a few reasons why I would never open a cattery, but one of the main ones is that I think I would probably just end up keeping all of the kittens. I would love them all way too much to let them go!

Catteries do occasionally keep a kitten from a litter of their own, but most of the time, they try not to. A cattery is a business, after all, and every kitten kept is a profit lost. However, a cattery might keep a kitten if:

• They really fall in love.
• They’re planning to retire a cat by the time the kitten will be mature.
• They want to keep that genetic line going.

It’s not mandatory, and keeping too many kittens from your own lines can actually present problems later on. These baby jack-o’-lanterns are better off in their new forever homes!
