In the video, the dog starts biting the pillow and kneading it with his little front paws, making muffins like a cat while the baking show rolls on in the background. It's one of those clips where your brain needs a second to catch up. A dog. On a bed. Watching baking content. Then, apparently deciding to join in through interpretive pastry work.

And honestly, it's perfect.

This isn't random fidgeting. This isn't one absentminded paw twitch. This Dachshund looks fully engaged in the culinary moment, like the show has inspired something deep and ancient and slightly absurd. One YouTube comment says, “Tutorial videos are for everyone ‼️,” which is exactly the right read. Another says, “Never seen a dog do this,” and yes, same. This feels like the first documented case of a Dachshund enrolling in remote baking school.

He's positioned like someone who knows he deserves comfort while consuming quality content. Then the little paw action starts, and suddenly the whole thing becomes the kind of video people replay three or four times just to confirm what they are seeing. He's not just watching TV. He is emotionally participating.

That's why this works so well. It has surprise, it has personality, and it has that very specific animal magic where a pet does something that feels almost human but still completely, beautifully weird. Dachshunds are already known for being dramatic, clever, and intensely opinionated little creatures, so maybe it makes sense that one of them would watch a baking show and immediately take notes through the bedding.

It also helps that “making muffins” is already such a funny concept on its own. Seeing it transferred from cat behavior to a long little sausage dog with a serious face and a baking program on deck is almost too much. This is not just cute. It's genre-bending.

Murphy says people often make training mistakes when praising their dogs, primarily by using unclear or inconsistent cues. Time and delivery also matter. If they're off, Murphy says it confuses them instead. So, it's worth getting some basic training on the best way to tell your dog "good job" so you know you're doing it right. "This prevents frustration on both sides," Murphy says. "Your dog understands what’s right, and you don’t feel like you’re repeating yourself."

So, what's the best way to tell your dog "good job," according to a trainer? Murphy says pet parents should always tell their dog "good job" using a clear marker paired with a reward. "Saying 'good job' to your pet only becomes meaningful to your dog when it consistently leads to something like treats, food, praise, release or play."

This is called a marker or clicker training, according to Murphy. "The mark/click acts as a snapshot in time, telling your dog that you like what they are doing and to do more of it. Then your dog can determine the reward based on what they like, so you'll need to tune into your pup's preferences to determine what that is.

She says this method works because it's precise and consistent. "Dogs learn fastest when feedback is immediate and easy to understand," Murphy reveals. "Clear communication and feedback help to provide your dog clarity, and so they learn when they are doing a good job. Over time, it becomes a marker of success, telling your dog, 'That’s exactly what I wanted! Good job!'"

Murphy suggests using this method when you are teaching new behaviors, or you want to reinforce good choices, such as checking in and calm behavior or you're working to build clarity and confidence.

To make this method effective and sustainable, Murphy suggests using this step-by-step guide for implementing marker/clicker training:

Choose your marker

Murphy says it can be a physical clicker or a verbal marker, like the word "yes." The key is to choose something that you can use consistently.

Start in Lo-Fi settings

Murphy suggests introducing your marker in low-distraction environments to help your dog understand the pattern clearly. "If you start in areas with a lot of distractions, your dog may find something else more rewarding," Murphy points out. "You have to train them to understand that you are the most exciting thing in their world."

Follow through

The second your dog does the right thing, say the marker and follow it with a reward," Murphy advises.

Practice

Murphy encourages pet parents to practice in everyday moments rather than just during formal training sessions. "Meal times, walks or even when it’s time to go to bed are great ways to implement small training moments in your dog’s life," Murphy explains.

Murphy reports that simply saying "good" using a calm tone is highly effective once the dog knows what that word means. "We call this a duration marker," Murphy says. "You can follow this with a reward or not."

Affection

Not all dogs enjoy affection, but yours might. "But if your dog does like petting and snuggling, this can be a great bonding experience and way to let them know they are the best dog," Murphy says.

Release as the reward

We often think of rewards as treats or praise. But Murphy shares release can be one, too. "Letting the dog move, sniff or break position can be a powerful reward," she explains. "This also utilizes impulse control and can build desire or drive to offer up behaviors. This is especially effective for structured behaviors like place, sit or duration work."

While this pup is petite, you have to make sure you brush them. However, if you keep their coat short, it's easier to manage.

As the newscaster said, the chances of finding a split-colored lobster in the wild are 1 in 50 million!

So, how does this amazing and rare color combination occur? A genetic mutation occurs, giving the crustacean two distinct sets of genes.

Aquarium biologist Julia Studley told Popular Science, “Split colorization occurs when two fertilized, unlaid eggs contact each other, causing one to absorb the other. This creates a lobster with two sets of genetic information and the ability to store color pigments differently on either side of its shell.”

When it occurred with this rare creature, it resulted in a perfect split down the middle, orange-red and dark brown shell.

Even more interesting is that sometimes this condition can cause gynandromorphism, which is when an organism is half male and half female. 

This mutation has been seen in a bird in Columbia, as well as in some bees, butterflies, and spiders.

Why This Cape Cod Catch Is So Unusual

An official statement about this rare marine discovery from the Wellfleet Shellfish Company on this event was issued: "Split lobsters like this are extraordinarily rare—caused by unique genetic variations that create their striking half-and-half coloring. Moments like this are why we do what we do: supporting our fishing community, protecting the ocean, and sharing its wonders with everyone."

The lobster, who weighs between 3 and 5 pounds, will be donated to the Woods Hole Science Aquarium to be cared for and will eventually be on exhibit for all the public to see.

It was caught off Cape Cod on the Timothy Michael fishing vessel on April 16, 2026.

Maine Coons are one of the largest domesticated cat breeds, and their paws are built to match their size and history.

The Shiba Inu is a breed that doesn't exactly take direction well. They're known to be independent, stubborn and famously difficult to train. She met a cat who had other plans.

Moose, the nutty Newfoundland, has people totally puzzled by trying to fall asleep in one of the strangest positions imaginable. At first glance, it looks like he’s chewing on a chair, but the reality is way more ridiculous.

Why Moose has chosen this particular sleeping spot is a mystery, but so is how he came to be comfortable there. The gentle giant has the hard seat of a wooden chair sandwiched in his large mouth, with his tongue hanging lazily off to one side. It's all the is supporting his oversized head, while the rest of his body tries to get comfy on the floor. It's nothing short of bizarre, and I think he knows it. Dogs who sleep on their backs, for example, are usually completely relaxed and feel safe enough to expose their most vulnerable areas. Others curl up to conserve heat or protect themselves—an instinct that dates back to their wild ancestors. Sleeping on their side typically means a dog is comfortable and at ease, while stretched-out “Superman” poses are often seen in playful, high-energy pups who are ready to jump back into action at any moment. 

Some dogs also like to rest their heads on furniture (chair!)—or even their humans—which can be a sign of affection and a desire to stay close. And of course, many prefer to sleep right next to their people, a behavior rooted in their pack mentality and need for security.

If a dog’s sleeping position suddenly changes, though, it can sometimes point to discomfort, stress, or age-related issues. In those cases, it’s worth paying closer attention and checking in with a veterinarian.

At the end of the day, even the most bizarre-looking nap positions usually come down to one simple thing: your dog feels safe, comfortable, and completely at home.
