Golden Retriever and Doodle Interrupt Storm Chaser on the Job and Steal the Show

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 6:13pm

A daring Doodle and a curious Golden Retriever completely upstaged a well-meaning storm chaser outside of Oklahoma, a reminder that even in the most serious situations, dogs can bring levity and lightheartedness to an otherwise tense moment.

While the storm chaser risked getting caught in the chaos of an approaching storm, he pulled over to film the incoming weather event. As he focuses his camera on the ominous gray clouds rolling in, the Doodle and the Golden Retriever run into frame and immediately stealt he spotlight. Instead of avoiding the storm, the dogs create their own kind of chaos—an adorable distraction that's impossible to ignore.

@abc7chicago

A storm chaser got a surprise visit from not one but two adorable dogs while out on the job in Oklahoma. Chad Casey posted footage of the wholesome interaction on X. “Had some friendly visitors come say hi yesterday while out chasing,” he wrote. The video shows Casey parked up along a highway by a storm cloud when a smiley dog jumps up to his window for pets. The moment gets even better when a second surprise dog suddenly jumps into frame.

Rather than tense up or shoo the dogs away, the storm chaser welcomes them into the moment, embracing their unexpected cameo as they eagerly soak up the attention.

Why Dogs Are Drawn to Strangers @pupettaandleone

Breeds like Doodles and Golden Retrievers are highly social and thrive in the company of other dogs and humans. Bred as companion dogs, both breeds are drawn to humans even in the most tense situations like a storm. Highly anxious on their own, Goldens and Doodles are known to get intense separation anxiety when not in the company of their humans.

That social nature comes in handy for this storm chaser. Dogs are known for their keen senses, especially when it comes to weather. Their heightened awareness allows them to pick up on low-frequency sounds like distant thunder and detect changes in barometric pressure that often signal an approaching storm. In this case, the storm chaser may have stumbled upon the ultimate weather companions.

More than 16,000 viewers liked the video, with many commenting that the dogs looked ready to join the storm-chasing adventure. Others couldn’t get enough of how the pair confidently took over the scene.

Golden Retrievers and Doodles may be sensitive to storms, but they are also incredibly social and drawn to human interaction. Even in an intense moment, these dogs seemed more focused on making a connection than reacting to the looming weather.

Viewers called the dogs “adorable” and “so cute,” but their appearance also served as a reminder of how animals can shift the mood in an instant. What started as a serious storm-chasing moment quickly turned into something far more memorable—all thanks to two dogs who weren’t afraid to take center stage.

Heartbroken Abandoned Dog 'Traded the Streets for Sandy Beach Paws'—and His New Life Is Breaking the Internet

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 6:10pm

Dogs are naturally social animals and form close bonds with people and other canines. My two pups — a senior Dachshund and a Pug mix — have very opposite personalities, yet they are practically inseparable after all these years together. Street dogs and strays also develop friendships as they try to navigate life without a home.

Bob the German Shepherd mix lived his life on the streets of Thailand with his fur baby bestie, Angelina, right by his side. Angelina passed away last year, leaving Bob feeling lost and alone. Thankfully, animal advocate Niall Harbison brought Bob to his rescue sanctuary, Happy Doggo, to help him through his grief.

View this post on Instagram

The Instagram video from @wearehappydoggo shared Bob's story and described how the precious pooch sank into depression without his BFF.

"He had spent his life on the streets, but his world shattered when he lost his soulmate, Angelina," the onscreen text explained as Bob lay on the floor, clearly sad and despondent.

Harbison and the Happy Doggo team gave Bob tons of affection and kept him active to help him heal from his tremendous loss. A family learned about Bob from Harbison's social media accounts and wanted to help him heal.

"He had shut down until a family saw his story and knew they had a place for him," the story continued, with clips showing the team preparing Bob to head off to his new life.

Bob Found a New Bestie

Now settled into his new home, Bob is thriving and enjoying plenty of playing and fun in the sun.

"Today, Bob is living his best life right here in Thailand," the caption read. "He’s traded the struggle of the streets for sandy paws on the beach and a home where he finally feels safe enough to let his guard down."

While no one could ever replace Angelina, Bob was able to open his heart to another canine. His new fur baby sister, a playful Husky, welcomed the former street dog with open paws and now the two are best buddies.

"Whether he’s busy digging in the sand, carrying his favorite toys around, or napping peacefully beside his new Husky sister, he has truly found his peace," the story concluded, adding, "We think Angelina would be so proud of the dog he’s become."

Bratty Cockatoo Meets New Sister and Screams ‘Take Her Back’

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 6:00pm

When you have a pet, it's only natural for them to make you want another. That's how I ended up with three dogs, four birds, several lizards... It just never stops. Pets are awesome, especially when they get along well!

However, getting along well isn't always the case. When The Parrot Lady brought home a new Parrot to Sweet Pea, a Cockatoo/internet sensation, she was having absolutely none of it. She basically screamed for Mom to take her back:

@theparrotlady

I brought a new bird home and my cockatoo was not pleased… 😐 #cockatoo #reaction #adoptdontshop

♬ original sound - Wendy Albright

Sweet Pea has several siblings already, and she has beef with most of them. There's a Labrador Retriever, Copper, who she considers her bestie, but everyone else really ruffles her feathers. She likes to be the center of attention, and they get in the way of that.

Related: Cockatoo Telling African Grey Parrot to ‘Talk to the Claw’ Is Peak Sibling Behavior

Recently, Wendy rescued another bird: an Eclectus Parrot. She lost one of her other birds, so there was some room, and she loves to save birds whenever she can. The new bird's name is Ruby, and she's fitting in pretty nicely.

Well, with everyone except for Sweet Pea, who thinks she's weird. She doesn't like anything about her, at least not yet. Hopefully, in time, they'll learn to get along... But for now, Ruby will be minding her own business, doing whatever this is:

@theparrotlady

Help! My parrot is broken! 😱 #eclectus #parrot #funny #bird #birdtok

♬ original sound - Wendy Albright

Birds are so weird. It's one of the reasons I love them! Sweet Pea doesn't behave this way; she spends a lot of her time just squawking and demanding her mom's attention. She's lucky she's gorgeous!

Cockatoos Aren't Solitary Birds

If you look at what Sweet Pea is doing to poor Ruby and her other siblings, you might think that Cockatoos just aren't social birds. Maybe they don't like having friends?

Cockatoos are actually not solitary animals at all: they're very flock-oriented. Some evidence even suggests that they're monogamous and mate for life. However, these birds usually do best around:

  • Similar species.
  • Birds they know or see often.
  • Young birds that they know aren't threatening.

Ruby is new to the home. In time, Sweet Pea will adjust to her being there... Though they might never be best friends. That's for Copper alone!

Great Pyrenees Thinks Tiny Goats Are 'His Babies' and No One Can Deny It

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 5:59pm

Toby the Great Pyrenees has a very clear understanding of his job description. Baby goats magically appear on the farm? They're his. He’s theres. End of discussion.

The precious TikTok from @itsmelkel shows Toby lying protectively near a group of tiny goats, keeping watch with the kind of love and loyalty that suggests that he's been doing this for centuries. Technically, his breed has been doing this forever.

The text overlay asks: "Should we tell Toby that he is not in fact, the biological father?"

The voice in the video answers that question pretty definitively: "Hey babysitting Toby. You're so sweet buddy. You keeping him safe? What a good boy."

View this post on Instagram

The caption settles it: "Who's going to tell him? Cause it's not me. 🤭"

Nobody's telling Toby anything. Because as far as Toby's concerned, these are his babies, and he's not interested in anyone's opinion about the biology of it all.

The comments understood the assignment completely:

"He's not the stepfather, he's the father that stepped up."

"No need to let him know he is just loving unconditionally."

Related: Jack Russell Terrier Gets Stuck on 13th-Floor Window Ledge -- How She Got Down Defies All Odds

"It's truly amazing seeing the pure love a dog is capable of."

"Good job, Toby. Keep it up!"

That first comment is pure perfection. Toby didn't need a DNA test to assume his role as daddy. He saw vulnerable baby goats who needed his love, protection, and his entire genetic programming said, "That's me. I'm on it."

Why Great Pyrenees Are Natural Livestock Guardians

Here's what makes Toby's behavior so remarkable: he's doing exactly what his breed was designed to do over a thousand years ago.

According to the Great Pyrenees Club of America, these dogs originated in the Pyrenees mountains between France and Spain, where they were raised by the Basque people to protect their flocks from bears and wolves. For over a millennium, only the most successful guard dogs were allowed to reproduce, which means that protective instinct runs deep.

Great Pyrenees are territorial guards by nature. They work to keep their territory—and everything vulnerable in it—safe from predators. One of the breed's most infamous characteristics is "the absolute intolerance of all predators, coupled with extraordinary patience and kindness to stock."

🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

The breed can be trusted with small, young, and helpless animals of any kind. It's hardwired into them. When Toby sees baby goats, his thousand-year-old instincts kick right in: These babies are small. They are vulnerable. They need me.

Great Pyrenees are primarily nocturnal workers who take their guard duties very seriously. A working Pyrenees will patrol territory, assess threats, and protect those in their charge without needing guidance from humans. They're independent thinkers who know their job and trust their instincts.

So, when Toby positions himself close to those baby goats and refuses to acknowledge that he's not their biological father? He's not confused. He's just doing what his ancestors have done for a thousand years. Guarding the things he loves the most. Those goats may not share his DNA, but as far as Toby's concerned, they're his babies. And good luck arguing with a Great Pyrenees about that.

Saint Bernard Puppy Is Already So Big, He Takes up an Entire Dolly

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 5:00pm

Saint Bernard puppies don't look like puppies for long. I love them so much; within just a few months, they're just a huge, bumbling mess. There is simply nothing better than a huge puppy who has no idea what to do with their massive body.

Just look at this Saint Bernard puppy! At only a few months old, he's big enough that he takes up an entire dolly. They took him on a trip to Home Depot, and pushing him around is probably equivalent to pushing around several bags of concrete:

♬ som original - 𝑷𝒆𝒅𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒂𝒔🎵

Oakley doesn't belong to the Microfarm Fam: they just happened to see him while they were at Home Depot, and he totally made their day. They were super nice, too, making sure to ask for his name. Hopefully, they didn't actually need to buy anything, since there's no room left on the dolly for anything else.

Oakley's parents actually saw this video, which is amazing! In a comment on the post, they said, "He's 7 months old. Not a service dog. He just loves his weekly trips to Home Depot." That makes me think that they legitimately just go to Home Depot to push him around, which is the funniest thing I've ever heard.

Related: Baby Saint Bernard ‘Teething’ on a Whole Bench Looks Like a Chubby Little Beaver

Though Oakley doesn't belong to the people who own this account, they're not strangers to dogs. They have a farm, and their puppies love to play with all of their animals:

@microfarm_fam_travel

#ducksoftiktok #birdsoftiktok #doglovers #animallove #dogsoftiktok

♬ original sound - microfarm_fam_travel

The ducks seem to want nothing to do with those dogs, honestly. Maybe they should start taking their dogs to Home Depot, too: I hear it's a great place to make some furry friends!

How Big Do Saint Bernards Get?

If 7-month-old, takes-up-whole-dolly Oakley is any indication, these dogs get pretty big. He's already 5 times the size of most grown dogs. That's part of what people who get these dogs love about them! They're huge, cuddly teddy bears.

Big Saint Bernard with tongue hanging out.

Image via Shutterstock / EL_Images

Saint Bernards are considered a "giant" dog breed. They typically weigh anywhere between 120 and 180 pounds, though it's not unheard of for a Saint Bernard to get up to 200! Males are typically on the larger end, with females being slightly smaller.

It takes about 2 years for Saint Bernards to reach their full-grown size. Females take a little longer, up to 3 years. Once they are full-grown, though, not even a big Home Depot dolly will fit them! Oakley still has a long way left to grow!

Giant Schnauzers Turn Into ‘Giant Stooges’ Trying to Reach Their Ball

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 3:00pm

Giant Schnauzers, and giant dogs in general, have no business being as funny as they are. You might think that being bigger would mean they're more sophisticated, or that they understand things better... But it seems to mean the opposite. It's amazing.

These Giant Schnauzers, for example, were three strong. They might look like they could take on an entire herd of animals, but in reality, they couldn't even manage to tackle one ball. It was just barely out of their reach, and watching them try for it is one of my favorite things:

@skyline_giant_sch

Tell me this isn’t the 3 Stooges 😂 #giantschnauzer #funnydogs #dogsoftiktok #fyp #dogs

♬ original sound - Skyline Giant Schnauzers

Skyline Giant Schnauzers love to let their dogs be dogs, which I love for them. Every dog deserves to be happy, even if it's just while they're waiting for their forever homes. They treat their dogs like family, because that's what they are!

Related: Girly Little Schnauzer Looks Exactly Like a Barbie Come to Life

Someone in the comments said, "Cerberus separated?" and that is exactly what this looks like... If Cerberus were also one of the Three Stooges, of course. Or would he count as all three? Whatever the case may be, these three dogs all had one mission: get to the ball.

It was just out of reach on a little ledge. They might be Giant Schnauzers, but that still only gets them so far! The best part of the video is the little one coming in like, "Just give me a boost!" If they had, I bet he would've gotten it. This isn't the first time they've had a mishap with a toy, though:

@skyline_giant_sch

Enzo really said this makes sense 🤣 #giantschnauzer #dogsoftiktok #funnydogs #viralvideo #relatable

♬ original sound - Skyline Giant Schnauzers

Can I fit a Giant Schnauzer in my house? No. Does seeing how silly and goofy they are really, really make me want one? Oh, badly. Enzo in particular seems to cause a lot of trouble in his home, but they put up with it: he's just too handsome to get mad at.

Enzo is one of the dogs who fathers the occasional litter at Skyline. I bet all of his puppies also have his infectious, rambunctious personality. I just hope they're better at reaching their toys!

Giant Schnauzers Are Very Playful

When a lot of people think about "giant" breeds, they think about the couch potatoes: Saint Bernards and Mastiffs, for example, are big into lounging around. Giant Schnauzers, however, really love to play!

Giant Schnauzer playing with a ball.

Image via Shutterstock / Rita_Kochmarjova

Giant Schnauzers actually have a lot of energy. They love to play, especially games like:

  • Fetch.
  • Chase.
  • Tug-of-war.

The only thing to be mindful of is their size, especially if they're playing with smaller dogs or kids. They have a lot of mass, which translates to a lot of momentum. Don't get knocked over, and if their ball lands out of reach, there's clearly no use in letting them figure that out themselves!

Tiny Jack Russell’s Special Day Is More Emotional Than It Seems

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 1:48pm

It looked like a perfect day. The kind you don't realize is goodbye until it already is.

A dog dad shared on Reddit in r/jackrussellterrier that his Jack Russell terrier had just been diagnosed with advanced cancer. Dozens of tumors in the lungs. A few months, at best. No treatment plan. Just time.

🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

So he did what many devoted parents do in that moment. He gave his dog a day that felt full.

A Simple Day That Means Everything

They went longboarding. Wind in the dog's ears, the steady rhythm of the ride. Later, they shared chicken together, like it was the most important meal in the world.

Nothing about it was extravagant, but when time becomes limited, ordinary moments carry a different weight.

"Sending love to you both. Moments like this mean everything," one commenter wrote.

"Bless you both. Happy trails," said another. And another person wrote, "He's an angel, prayers for your angel."

What Dogs Need

Dogs don't think in timelines. They don't understand diagnoses or count the days ahead.

They experience what's in front of them.

A slow walk instead of a long one. A favorite food without hesitation. Lying next to you without urgency.

These moments don't look big from the outside, but to a dog, they're everything.

How To Give Your Dog a Bucket List Day

You don't need a terminal diagnosis to do this, but when time becomes limited, it gives you more clarity about what matters to your dog.

Start by thinking about what your dog has always loved most. Not what looks good in a video—the real stuff. The walk they go crazy for. The food they lose their mind over. The spot on the couch they've been quietly competing with you for. Build the day around that.

For some dogs, it's a trip to the beach or a park they haven't visited in years. For others, it's an uninterrupted afternoon in the backyard followed by a meal that has no business being in their bowl. The point isn't the activity. It's the sustained, undivided attention. No phone. No distractions. Just you, fully present, for the whole day.

The Weight of Caring for a Terminal Dog

There's a responsibility that comes with this stage. Watching closely. Adjusting routines. Making sure comfort comes first.

With lung cancer especially, changes in breathing, energy and appetite can come quickly. Many vets suggest tracking "good days" and "bad days" to help guide the hardest decisions down the road.

It's not about extending time at any cost. It's about protecting the quality of the time that's left. Her dad said it best in his post: "All I can do is keep her comfortable until it's time to let her go."

Memories to Hold Onto

This story stays with people because it captures something simple and hard at the same time.

You don't need a perfect plan. Most dogs don't want one.

They want your presence. Your attention. The things they've always loved, given freely.

Sometimes that looks like a longboard ride and a piece of chicken. And sometimes, that's exactly enough.

The most beautiful thing about dogs is that they do not worry about the "few months at best" timeline. They are not mourning their own future. Instead, they are enjoying the chicken in front of them and the feeling of the pavement beneath the wheels.

National Zoo Welcomes First Elephant Calf in Over 25 Years—and She’s Already Stealing Hearts

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 1:46pm

Sassy, indeed! The Smithsonian's National Zoo is celebrating a major milestone with the arrival of its first elephant calf in over 25 years. Named Linh Mai ("spirit blossom" in Vietnamese), the newborn made her debut on Earth Day and is already winning people over with her playful and vocal personality.

View this post on Instagram

While the public cannot get enough of precious Linh Mai, her mother hasn't been as receptive, unfortunately. There have been some ups and downs with early mother-daughter bonding and feeding; still, the devoted and knowledgeable zookeepers planned for this potential outcome and have stepped in to smooth out the wrinkles in their relationship and ensure that the baby has everything she needs to thrive.

Related: Baby Giraffe Born With 'Toupee' Is Stealing Hearts

Linh Mai's Foster Family

According to this update by the National Zoo, it isn't uncommon for mother elephants to reject their calves after birth. While it might seem surprising, Linh Mai’s slower bonding with her mom is something keepers are carefully managing—and it’s more complex than it looks. As a first-time mother, Nhi Linh is still adjusting, showing moments of interest in her calf but also signs of uncertainty and discomfort with close interaction.

Out of caution, Linh Mai was separated from her mother and other adult elephants by a protective barrier after some early signs of aggression. Instead of forcing the relationship, the care team is taking a gradual approach, allowing Linh Mai to safely interact with her family through controlled introductions.

Encouragingly, other members of the herd—especially more experienced females—are already stepping in. One elephant, Swarna, has shown gentle, attentive behavior toward Linh Mai, helping model the kind of social interactions the team hopes her mother will eventually adopt.

The hope was that Nhi Linh would nurse her calf, but for now, Linh Mai is on a carefully managed bottle-feeding schedule. She gets a specially designed formula every two hours, with amounts adjusted as she grows. Linh Mai was born at just a touch over 300 pounds, and at the last update, she's successfully gained over 200 pounds more!

The goal is still for Linh Mai to be raised within her family group, but for now, patience is key. She's building those bonds at her own pace while she's raised by a village of experienced aunties and caring keepers.

Mom Calls Out Sick, Only to Witness Her Dogs’ Secret Daily Ritual

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 11:48am

The howling started the moment she would have walked out the door. The only problem? She never left.

One dog mom posted on Reddit to r/WhatsWrongWithYourDog that her four dogs launched into their full 20-minute group howl on a day she was home sick, still in earshot, still in the bed, listening to what sounded like a goodbye ceremony for a version of her that didn't exist that morning.

🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

One commenter summed it up perfectly: "It sounds like a great conversation."

What Their Internal Clock Already Knows

Dogs are masters of the clock. They know when the coffee pot clicks off, when the keys jingle, when the car backs out. And once that sequence is locked in, they don't audit it. They just run the program.

From the way the howling sounds in the video, these are likely huskies or husky mixes. That deep, drawn-out chorus isn't random noise. It goes back to wolves calling their pack across distances, communication layered on top of a habit so ingrained that the absence of an actual departure doesn't stop it. The clock said it was howling time, and that was enough.

Related: Hilarious Puppy Turns Car Ride Into a Full-On Hostage Situation

Dogs don't double check reality. If every weekday at a certain time you leave and they howl, that sequence becomes automatic. Whether you actually walk out the door is almost beside the point. The ritual belongs to the time slot, not the event.

As one commenter put it: "Seems like they're making sure you don't come back so they can party."

The Moment No One Caught on Camera

What the video doesn't show is the aftermath. She was somewhere in the house the whole time, home sick, within earshot, waiting.

One commenter said exactly what everyone was thinking: "Wish we got the moment they noticed you were in bed."

That reveal had to be something. Four dogs mid-howl, mid-ritual, suddenly catching a scent or a sound that shouldn't be there. The record scratch of realizing the "missing" pack member was never actually gone.

What This Tells You About Dogs

Most pet parents only ever see the tail wags and the welcome-home jumps. Watching your dogs run their own complex social routine, completely unbothered by whether you're watching, is a rare look at who they are when you're not part of the equation.

It's a reminder that while they are absolutely part of your world, they have their own instinctual social life running quietly in the background too. They have their own routines, rituals and a whole internal logic that keeps ticking whether the "alpha" is present or not.

And honestly? That's part of what makes them so fascinating.

Constant howling can sometimes signal stress, especially if it comes with pacing, destruction or an inability to settle. But in cases like this one, it's harmless (and a little hilarious). Four dogs howling in perfect sync while their dog mom sits a few rooms away is the kind of chaos most dog people understand immediately.

They don't need you to leave to feel your absence. They just need the clock to say it's time.

Jack Russell Terrier Gets Stuck on 13th-Floor Window Ledge -- How She Got Down Defies All Odds

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 11:41am

Elbie the Jack Russell Terrier disappeared on a Saturday afternoon in Sydney. By Monday morning, she was spotted on a 13th-floor window ledge and had managed to wedge herself between metal bars and a window. She'd been there for more than 48 hours.

Her dad was in Thailand when it happened. His son, Jake, was watching the dogs for the first time ever on his own. Jake went out for the afternoon. When he returned, Elbie was nowhere to be found.

The 7News Queensland report shows what followed: a three-hour rescue operation by firefighters on Anzac Day that had everyone holding their breath.

"Elbie the Jack Russell on a 13th floor ledge stuck for two days," the transcript reads. "But finally this afternoon after an excruciating three hour long rescue operation, safely in the hands of a firefighter."

Elbie's dad called Jake an estimated 100 times. "The poor fellow," he said. "Unfortunately, this was a test for him."

A Jack Russel named Elbie went missing over the weekend and Monday morning, she was spotted high on a ledge of her Sydney apartment block. What happened next had everyone cheering.

Flyers went up offering a reward. Then Fernando, a kind neighbor, saw the flyer and decided to do everything he could to help. He grabbed his drone and began checking every balcony on the building.

"I go inside all the balconies and then when I go to this side, she was here," Fernando said.

Elbie was wedged outside Marty's apartment. Marty had his blinds down all weekend and had no idea. "Open up the blind, looked over the edge and there was a poor little bagger," he said.

The firefighters worked with delicate precision for three hours. Elbie was completely "petrified, refusing to move." However eventually, they were able to pass her back inside through the window.

Needless to say, Jake was overwhelmed. "I was over the moon. You know, I thought I didn't know if I was gonna see her again."

After 48+ hours without food or water, Elbie was fed, given water, had a shower, and was taken to the vet as a precaution.

The comments had questions about Jake's dog-sitting:

"He failed his test."

"Did Jake really 'look after' the dogs 🤨"

"Stuck for 2 days? Damn wtf."

The Split-Second Decision That Saved This Jack Russell's Life

Here's what makes this story remarkable beyond the rescue itself: Fernando's drone decision was the turning point. Without him making the decision to do that systematic aerial search, Elbie might have stayed hidden on that ledge forever.

But the question is how Elbie got there in the first place. Her dad initially thought it was impossible. "Did she go through the gap? We said, well, she can't because she's too fat."

Jack Russell Terriers are notoriously persistent and determined dogs. According to Dog Gone Problems, a resource for understanding canine behavior, persistence is a defining trait in many dogs—especially Jack Russell Terriers. They test boundaries, wait for opportunities, and don't give up easily when they want something. They’re very tenacious.

Jack Russells were originally bred to hunt foxes, which required squeezing into tight spaces underground. That instinct to push through gaps that seem impossibly small is hardwired into the breed. What looks like "too small" to a human is often "just barely big enough" to a determined Jack Russell.

Elbie somehow escaped from an apartment on the other side of the building, squeezed through a gap her family thought was impossible, and ended up on that ledge. Her persistence—the same trait that saved her ancestors in fox hunts—nearly cost her life.

The firefighter who helped save her summed it up: "We wanna do our best to save its life. So yeah, I'm glad we did that today."

The reporter called it "a Hollywood moment." Elbie now has "her very own Anzac tale."

And Jake? He'll definitely be double-checking windows next time.

Precious ‘Hot Fudge’ Cocker Spaniel Puppy Has a Face That Could Melt Any Heart

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 11:00am

A big brown dog is the key to anyone's heart. All dogs are wonderful, but there is something so special about a dog who's the same color as a warm jar of hot fudge, especially when they have matching chocolatey eyes.

One Cocker Spaniel is both of those things, and she's absolutely stunning. Her caretaker did a little "face reveal" for her, and when she turned that puppy around, my heart melted on the spot!

Marshall Dre Brown fathered this litter of puppies: he's beautiful, so every single puppy from his litter was gorgeous, too! This one takes the cake, though, especially in the sunlight. Her chocolate fur is just so shiny!

Of the sibling pups in her litter, she's one of the ones who resembles her father the closest. He's a Chocolate Cocker Spaniel, while their mother is a Blonde Cocker Spaniel. The resulting puppies are the perfect mix of the two!

All of the puppies in this litter are spoken for now, which is why this sweet girl doesn't have a name yet. They all have a little while to go before they're off to their forever homes, so for now, we'd better soak up all of the puppy content while we can:

Are Chocolate Cocker Spaniels Rare?

Cocker Spaniels are underrated: they're great dogs, and they're beautiful! Just like with some other dogs, though, there are some coat colors that are considered rarer than others.

Chocolate Cocker Spaniels, formally recognized as "Liver" colored, are not rare, though they're not the most common coat type, either. The most common ones are black and "buff" types, also referred to as "Blonde."

The pups in these videos are the result of a Liver/Buff pairing. I hope they all thrive in their forever homes!

Golden Retriever Thinks UPS Truck Means Her Favorite Retired Driver Is Back

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 9:55am

It's no secret that dogs make their own rules when it comes to choosing the people they deem worthy of their time and attention. These "favorites" get their status from being a regular presence in your dog's life—probably also giving a few treats—so these interactions are something your pup looks forward to and even anticipates.

Golden RetrieverAbbey had this very experience with her favorite UPS driver, Ed. Unfortunately, Ed retired early, leaving Abbey searching for him in every UPS truck she sees.

@abbeysgoldenlife

Kudos to Ron with UPS, who did his best to console Abbey when she realized Ed wasn’t in the truck. 🥺💛💛#ups #whereised#dontforgetaboutme

♬ Don't You (Forget About Me) - 12" Version - Simple Minds

Since this UPS driver is the new guy, we can only hope he catches on and gives Abbey what she's looking for. He may not be Ed, but if he has yummy treats, I'm sure she'll allow him to be part of her day the way she did with Ed. The sweet Golden Retriever may need a little time to adjust, but I have a feeling that this person, or whoever ends up on her route, will do what we need them to do—for the sake of Abbey's big and tender heart, and ours!

Related: Golden Retriever’s Final Moment With Favorite UPS Driver Is Bringing People To Tears

As with any sweet dog story, Abbey is winning everyone over with her dedication to Ed. Thanks to the power of social media, Ed and Abbey reunited in the most heartwarming surprise ever!

You can tell from Abbey's reaction that this bond goes so much deeper than seeing a UPS driver on a route. This is love.

@abbeysgoldenlife

Thank you for the surprise visit, Ed! 🤍 We’re forever grateful for this moment… and for everyone who helped make it happen #everydayheros #abbeysgoldenlife #upsdrivers #lovewins

♬ original sound - Keenan Te Why Dogs Form Strong Bonds With Familiar Delivery Drivers

Whoever comes into a dog's life on a consistent basis and offers positive experiences repeatedly may unintentionally condition that pup for regular interactions just like this. They learn that person's voice and scent, and in Ed's case, his truck.

What began as Abbey curiously investigating a delivery driver in her territory ended with her trusting this man. His presence was part of the pup's routine, and because she got attention and treats out of it, of course, she decided Ed was her favorite and worth waiting for each and every day.

Abbey is yet another example of why we don't deserve dogs, even a little bit. Hopefully she and Ed have more reunions to come (and the new driver is just as awesome)!

Mud-Soaked Golden Retriever Breaks Free During Bath and Does the Worst Thing Possible

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 9:25am

Golden Retrievers are well known for their love of water and mud, and for Bauer, a teenage pup, his love for wet dirt is hard to deny.

This glorious mischief maker didn't just play; he went all in. By the time he was done digging in a muddy puddle, he was so completely covered that he looked more like a Black Lab than a Golden. And while that alone would've been enough to make anyone laugh, what he did after his dad tried cleaning him up is what really makes this moment unforgettable.

Check out his messy moment in this Instagram from @imbluethesiberian, shared April 17:

View this post on Instagram

So much for the bath Bauer had the day before. The good boy was completely coated in mud, with barely a hint of golden fur left showing through. Instead of cooperating with the cleanup, Bauer had other plans. Bowl in mouth, he took off running laps around the pool like it was part of the game.

He tried to "clean" himself by rubbing against the grass and shrubs, which, unsurprisingly, didn't do much. Eventually, Dad stepped in with the hose, and the amount of mud coming off him was honestly impressive. For a second, it looked like the situation might finally be under control.

And then, of course, Bauer made his final move.

The second he had the chance, he jumped straight into the pool. Thankfully, most of the mud was already off by then, but it's safe to say the pool guy might be making another visit soon.

Naturally, viewers had a lot to say about Bauer's transformation.

@e_chulita_ joked, "First dog in history to successfully change breeds. You have a chocolate lab, sir." That's accurate.

@stylish_paws added, "Bauer, you are a whole vibe, and we love you."

And @callme_bosslady summed it up perfectly: "The pool guy needs to be a live-in."

To watch more of Bauer and his fur siblings, you can check out their morning routine, where keeping him out of the pool is an all-day priority:

View this post on Instagram Golden Retriever Puppy Behavior Often Includes Water, Mud, and Nonstop Play

Moments like this are typical of the breed. According to the American Kennel ClubGolden Retrievers are famously playful, energetic, and drawn to water. These traits make them incredible family dogs, but also very enthusiastic participants in any muddy situation they can find.

Life with a Golden Retriever Puppy is rarely calm, but that's part of the charm. Between the mess, the chaos, and the nonstop energy, pups like Bauer have a way of turning even the dirtiest moments into something you can't help but laugh at later.

Golden Retriever’s Stuffie-Muffled ‘Awoo’ Is Still So Crisp and Clean

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 9:00am

Golden Retrievers are very dramatic dogs. They're considered one of the best dog breeds ever, basically, but they're not easy by any means. To love one, you have to love drama and a little bit of an attitude problem.

There are moments that make it all worthwhile, though. For example, one Golden Retriever decided she needed to howl along with a fire truck... But she didn't want to drop her favorite stuffie. What ensued was just about the cutest thing you'll ever see in your life:

@redgirlmillie

My job here is done 🚨 #goldenretriever #funnydogs #funnydogvideos #trendingaudio #goldenlove

♬ original sound - Millie

Millie the Red Golden Retriever is perfect in every way. Her red fur basically matches the firetruck she's howling after, so it makes sense that her strong howl blends in so well! Her mom couldn't have been prouder. She did so well at not dropping her stuffie!

Having a stuffed animal in her mouth might seem like it would muffle the sound of her howl, but it doesn't. Not at all! In fact, it almost sounds like it's much cleaner and louder than when she howls without it.

Related: Border Collie Cracks the Code to the Biggest Bark in the World—and It’s Not What You Think

When Millie and her sibling aren't busy howling with the firetrucks, they're typically causing chaos elsewhere. Millie just recently learned that she can blow bubbles, and she's taking full advantage of her new knowledge:

@redgirlmillie

MY BUBBLES 🫧 #bubbles #funnydog #cutedog #outside #golden

♬ original sound - Millie

This is what life with two Golden Retrievers is really like. I can't stop laughing. It's just total chaos: snout fully under the water, another dog rolling around in the dirt. Giving a Golden Retriever a bath is not an easy task!

Golden Retrievers Can Be Loud

Golden Retrievers are awesome, super trainable dogs. However, they're also still dogs, and they're very expressive ones at that. These pups are notorious for their goofy personalities.

A Golden Retriever howling while outside.

Golden Retrievers have several main vocalizations. If you want one, you'll need to familiarize yourself with them:

  • Barking.
  • Howling.
  • Whining.
  • Grumbling.

Most of the time, if your Golden is barking (especially if you've trained them in that area) or vocalizing, it's because they're trying to get your attention. Or, in Millie's case, she really wants to be a firetruck!

Wayfair's 'Classy and Cute' Natural Wood Branch Cat Tree Is an 'Immediate' Hit With Pets

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 8:55am

Parade Pets aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

For years, the world of pet furniture was dominated by beige, carpeted cat scratcher towers that seemed designed to clash with every possible interior design aesthetic. As modern pet parents increasingly prioritize a curated, cohesive look, the demand for cat furniture that doubles as a statement piece has reached an all-time high. A home should be a reflection of the people who live in it, but it also needs to be a sanctuary for our four-legged family members. The challenge often lies in finding a balance: we want scratchers that satisfy feline instincts, but we also want pieces that elevate our living rooms, bedrooms or home offices rather than detracting from their visual harmony.

For owners of larger cat breeds like Maine Coons, this challenge is even more pronounced. A standard, flimsy cat tower simply won’t cut it; large cats require stability, durability and a size that accommodates them so they don't feel cramped. The priority must always be safety, ensuring that play structures are robust enough to handle the energetic leaps and bounds of a larger pet without wobbling.

When we move toward high-quality materials like solid wood and premium finishes, we aren't just buying a toy; we are investing in a durable piece of furniture that respects the pet's needs while maintaining the integrity of our home’s design scheme.

If you are looking for that perfect intersection of high-end aesthetics and rugged functionality, the Artisan Natural Wood Branch Cat Tree with Faux Fox Fur is an exceptional choice. Priced at $99.99 at Wayfair, this piece isn't like the generic towers of the past. Instead, it features a unique, hand-selected solid wood pillar that showcases stunning natural texture, making it a true conversation starter and a one-of-a-kind centerpiece for your home. It doesn't just look like a cat tree; it looks like a curated piece of natural sculpture.

Comfort is clearly at the forefront of this design. Understanding the needs of larger animals, the design includes a 17.7-inch oversized top perch specifically engineered to allow large breeds or even multiple cats to relax comfortably without feeling squeezed. For those moments when your feline wants to retreat, the deep 17.7-inch enclosed condo offers a quiet, secure space that mimics a cozy den that's perfect for stress-free napping.

Safety and longevity are built into the foundation of this cat tree. Engineered with robust natural wood and a heavily weighted base, this tree ensures a safe, wobble-free playground for cats up to 22 pounds. Furthermore, it is incredibly apartment-friendly, with a compact 18-inch footprint that allows it to fit perfectly in tight corners or alongside existing furniture. It also integrates a 2-in-1 feature: the sisal-wrapped natural branch serves as a durable scratching post, while the hanging pom-pom caters to hunting instincts.

If you're looking for a chic cat tree that blends into your home, look no further than this sleek option from Wayfair. Snag it while you can—you and your cat will be happy you did.

This Sleepy Dachshund Refuses To Wake Up—and Dog Mom Can’t Handle It

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 8:55am

There's nothing as sweet as a sleepy Dachshund, is there?

They are so cute and cozy!

But one Dachshund mom was worried her adorably sleepy Dachshund was maybe sleeping too much!

It got so dire that she had to do something most dog moms never have to do in this perfect, lazy dog moment!

@abbybaffoe

Lady girl loves her sleep 😭😂

♬ original sound - Abby Baffoe Why This Sleepy Dachshund Refuses To Wake Up

In the video, we see influencer Abby Baffoe trying to wake up her Dachshund, Lady, and this little pup is very slow to come out of dreamland.

Baffoe asks if it's normal that she actually has to wake her dog up.

Isn't it usually the opposite for most dogs and their parents?

But not for this little pooch, who Baffoe compares to a dead noodle as she lifts her up from her nap.

Poor Lady does have a little cast on one of her paws after hurting a nail, but it sounds like even without an injury, she is often quite sleepy.

As Lady yawns a bit more, her mom says, "It's a hard life not paying rent, doing chores, etc.,"

And yet Lady is still tired!

Related: Dachshund's Trip to Special Dachshund Cafe Is Too Cute To Resist

Why Some Dogs Just Love To Sleep In

To answer Baffoe's question: Is it normal for the dog to sleep this much? The answer is yes (most of the time).

First of all, dogs love to conserve their energy. Yes, compared to their ancestors, who hunted to survive and slept in caves, their lives seem pretty stress-free, being fed on a schedule and carried around in designer bags when they don't feel like walking.

However, that instinct to rest and recharge their bodies is very much in their bodies.

Now, if they have had a busy day of running around and playing, they definitely need a good nap, but they may also just be sleeping because they're bored.

Or perhaps it is a cold, rainy day or snowy day, and they want to get cozy, just like humans do.

If they're a puppy or a senior dog, they will also sleep more.

On a more serious note, if your pup is suddenly sleeping more, they may not be feeling well, and you should consult your vet.

Dachshunds normally sleep about 12 to 14 hours a day, so Lady, the sleepy Dachshund, refusing to wake up, is completely normal.

This Surprise World Cup Drop Lets Your Furry Best Friend Rep Their Favorite Team in Style

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 8:48am

Picture the scene: It's June, the World Cup is underway, you're watching Mexico versus Argentina in your living room, and your dog is fully geared up in the same jersey you're wearing. Not a knockoff. Not a custom Etsy job. An actual Adidas kit with the official crest and made to fit a dog.

Well, you don't have to imagine it any longer. Adidas officially unveiled its FIFA World Cup 2026 Pet Collection on April 27, and it launches for sale on May 1.

🐾 SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾

adidas world cup pet jersey Is Your Country Included?

The Adidas collection includes kits for 14 federations. Some of the four major countries covered include Mexico, Argentina, Spain and the United States. Argentina is the defending champion, Spain is a major football nation, and Mexico and the United States are host nations.

You can check the Adidas website to see whether there is a jersey for your country.

Adidas says the jerseys are designed for pets of different sizes, but the collection details available at launch don't specify whether sizing works on a standard small, medium or large scale, or uses weight ranges like most pet apparel brands. If you're buying online, measure your dog's chest girth and back length before ordering.

When Your Dog Becomes Part of the Lineup

If you have ever dressed your dog in a sweater just to get through winter, you already know how quickly pets become part of your daily rituals. Adidas’ campaign taps into a different environment entirely. In the case of the World Cup, this is all about identity.

Related: Hilarious Reason People Keep Calling This Pink-Loving Shepherd ‘He’

These jerseys mirror the same designs worn by players, down to the colors and crests. That means your dog can show up in the same kit you wear during a match. It sounds playful and fun, and as a fan you probably already treat game day like a shared event at home with your pup.

Why It Works Better Than Standard Pet Clothing

Most dog outfits exist for function or quick photos. They keep dogs warm or look cute for a few minutes. These jerseys work because they tie into something people already care about.

Sports merchandise has always been about belonging. Wearing your team’s colors signals who you are cheering for. Extending that to your dog creates a shared identity, even if your dog has no idea what a World Cup is.

Adidas World Cup Pet Collection One More Reason to Watch the Game at Home

This move says more about pet culture than it does about fashion. Dogs are no longer on the sidelines of our lives. They are part of our routines, celebrations and traditions.

It is the same reason people bake dog-friendly treats during the holidays or plan trips around pet-friendly places. Matching jerseys are just another way of saying your dog belongs in the moment, not outside of it.

There's something genuinely satisfying about including your dog in the rituals that matter to you. Match day food, the same spot on the couch, the moment you both react to a goal. A jersey doesn't change the game, but it makes the afternoon feel more complete (and you'll have a photo of your matching jerseys after the game, win or lose). Honestly, having your dog dressed for the occasion seems like the right call.

Borzoi’s Howl Sounds Exactly Like a Pac-Man Ghost and It’s Weirdly Perfect

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 8:20am

You expect a big, elegant dog like a Borzoi to have a dramatic howl. Something deep, maybe a little haunting, very serious. What you don't expect is for that sound to land somewhere between an arcade game and a slightly haunted decoration from the '90s.

That's exactly what happens with Ora, a stunning white Borzoi who has accidentally become a one-dog sound effects machine.

@esperborzoi

It’s just a little spooky #borzoi #howl #ghost #dogs #doglife

♬ original sound - MyLittleRussianLady

The adorable clip was posted by TikToker @esperborzoi, and it shows Ora stretched out on the sofa, completely relaxed, letting out a howl that is… hard to describe until you hear it. The caption nails it: a mix of Pac-Man ghosts being chased and those little Halloween decorations that wobble and make eerie noises on someone’s porch.

And once you hear it, you cannot unhear it.

People in the comments immediately went all in on the comparison. One person said, “Sounds like a theremin used in horror movies back in the day. Can he come over and accompany my sound system for a movie?” which honestly feels like a missed career opportunity for Ora.

“Definitely giving '90s Halloween porch ghost,” another wrote, while someone else joked, “Ma'am, your ghost is broken,” which is exactly the kind of energy this howl has.

Then there was, “Imagine waking up in the middle of the night hearing this,” which… no thank you. Respectfully. I would simply assume something supernatural had entered the chat.

“Well, now I want a dog that sounds like a '90s Halloween decoration,” someone added, and that might be the most honest takeaway here. Because, as weird as it is, it's also kind of incredible.

And finally, “She sounds like a ghost made of jello,” which is such a specific description and somehow still completely accurate.

It's not loud in an aggressive way. It is just… unexpected. Like your house suddenly has background audio you didn't sign up for but can't stop listening to.

Rating the ⭐️SOUNDS⭐️ my goats make #borzoi #rating #doglife #weird #ASMR #dogs #unhinged #dogsoftiktok #list #best #cute

♬ original sound - MyLittleRussianLady

Borzois are not typically considered loud or overly vocal dogs. In fact, they're often described as quiet and fairly reserved compared to many other breeds.

That said, they can be expressive in their own way. Some Borzois will howl, whine, or make unusual vocalizations, especially when they're trying to communicate or are reacting to certain sounds.

Their howls are not always frequent, but when they do happen, they can be memorable. As this video shows, the sound itself can be more surprising than the volume.

Like all pups, personality plays a big role. Some Borzois may rarely make a sound, while others, like Ora, have a very unique voice that definitely stands out.
