Tiny Hummingbird Lands by a Hot Tub Then Does Something Adorable
A precious hummingbird is melting hearts after landing in a surprisingly cozy spot. Perched on the edge of a backyard hot tub with its tiny toes in the warm water, the little visitor takes a much-needed break and drifts off into the sweetest nap.
I didn’t know birds liked warm water! He was the cutest 🥹 Can anyone explain why he decided to nap here? #fyp #birdsoftiktok #birdtok #cuteanimals #naturelover
♬ Loving Machine - TV GirlThe creator captioned the post with a question: "Can anyone explain why he decided to nap here?" and the range of comments that ensued was vast.
Some regarded the bird's decision as carefree, but a coveted encounter for sure. Others who fancied themselves as bird experts gave more specific reasons. One viewer suggested the rest could be torpor (a hibernation-like state to conserve energy and heat); another, egg-laying fatigue (do we even know its gender?). A rather alarmist fan guessed the bird "overheated and then tried to drink some water, which made it worse."
I prefer the fan who saw it as a "spa day." Regardless of the reason, the creator later reported that the bird flew away without incident and that everything seemed fine.
Personally, I resonated most with this observation: "I didn't even know they could stop moving for that long."

Why Hummingbirds Need Regular RestAs nonstop as hummingbirds seem during the day, they actually rely on rest to survive. Their incredibly fast wingbeats and high metabolism burn through energy at an extreme rate, which means they have to constantly refuel—and conserve energy whenever possible.
At night, hummingbirds go into torpor, dropping their body temperature and slowing their metabolism dramatically. This helps them save energy while they sleep, since maintaining their usual pace around the clock would be nearly impossible. Some hummingbirds even shift between lighter and deeper states of rest depending on how much energy they need to conserve. During the day, birds can utilize torpor to avoid high temperatures or conserve energy. So, the commenter on the video who cited torpor may have actually been correct.
Whether or not the bird was technically in torpor (or just taking a wee break), quiet moments like a hot tub nap aren’t just cute. They’re essential to helping hummingbirds recharge and keep up their high-energy lifestyle.

This Gray Cat Turned Puzzle Time Into A Standoff and Kitty Parents Totally Get It
It’s a completely relatable moment every catparent has been through. It’s family time. Parents and kids are gathered around the table working on an intricate puzzle. You’ve got the pieces laid out, outside pieces set up followed by those tricky middle pieces. You’re starting to make headway on the puzzle’s perimeter when the family cat plops itself in the middle of the puzzle. Naturally, the cat’s diva moment is met with giggles and cuddles. This cat is just being a cat, which means making sure its humans are focused on him at all times.

♬ Dropando Nesse Grave - Cayin22Here’s the completely charming cat moment in a nutshell. In a video shared to social media appropriately captioned, “Cats, when the activity requires 0 cats,” a family sits around the kitchen table deep into a puzzle. As Mom makes progress on her portion of the puzzle, the family’s grey cat sits down on the table, completely covering as much of the puzzle as possible. Mom reacts appropriately, totally entertained by the cat’s clever, attention-getting antics.
Over 1.7 million people have liked the post, which has already scored over 4,000 comments from cat experts who know this behavior well. One shared, “Cats don't do this to annoy,” before explaining this behavior is a cat’s way of showing you they recognize whatever you’re doing is important to you.
“They’re basically saying they care about you and thats just their way of expressing it! Their way of showing that they notice you :)),” the commenter continued.
Cat Owners Share Their Own Funny InterruptionsIn a completely hilarious show of solidarity, commenters shared photos of their own cats’ center-of-attention-seeking behavior, from cats sitting on their humans’ computer keyboards or lounging in the sink when Mom is trying to brush her teeth, to a cat jumping in the dryer when its humans are trying to empty it, to a cat taking a nap in Mom’s book while she’s trying to read it.

♬ Kokiri Forest with Ocarinas - David Erick Ramos - OcarinaThe commenter is spot on in her assessment of why cats like to sit on what their humans are focused on—almost. True, cats are curious about what they see their human doing and sometimes are seeking warmth. Sometimes cats take over puzzle time, make themselves at home on your book, or claim your pillow as their own because it smells like you. As their favorite human, cats are drawn to your scent. But in truth, cats are also attention-seekers who want to be your main focus.
Every Cat Owner Knows the StruggleIf you’ve ever tried to work, do laundry, or attempt a puzzle with the family cat nearby, you’ve likely been in a similar scenario. The struggle is real. Trying to get anything done with a cat in close proximity can feel next to impossible. But with distractions this cute, the puzzle-time fail is well worth it.

Devoted Chameleon ‘Prays to the Heavens’ in an Ultra-Dramatic Pose
I used to have a ton of lizards. Now, all but one Bearded Dragon has passed, and I've been spending a lot of time thinking about getting more. Particularly, I really want a Chameleon. I always have! They're just so cool!
Not only that: they're apparently very devoted. One woman on TikTok posted about her Chameleon and his undying devotion! She managed to get him praying to the heavens on camera, and it was honestly kind of inspirational:
@pcgardner#chameleon #reptileowner #funnyreptiles #funnypets
♬ Halo original game song - Dungeons_n_StarshipsPeyton Gardner and her Chameleon of undying devotion, Eric, are a classic example of why I love reptiles so much. They do so much weird stuff! Sometimes, you just have to let them sit on your head and reach for the stars.
The music choice for this video is stellar, too. It really captures how Eric was acting, and everyone is in love. He does this kind of thing all the time, whether he's reaching for the heavens or he's just reaching for his next meal.

Eric is a very happy Veiled Chameleon: you can tell because of the veil on top of his head, and his little feet. Veiled chameleons have a little structure on top of their heads, and they only have two toes on each foot.
They can also sit straight up and reach pretty far, though that's not how they eat or grab their food. They use their incredibly long tongues for that, while their feet are designed to help keep them steady on the branches, along with their tails. You can see Eric in action here:
@pcgardnerThe hammock isn’t typically recommended for chameleons but I clean it extremely regularly and work with how small he is rn. When he gets bigger I may remove it in case his nails or feet get snagged but rn it’s perfect for the size he is and he loves it #ericthechameleon #reptileowner #funnypets
♬ god of basketball - abxddon & azrxelLike, come on. He's literally trying to go toward the light. I will never get enough of him!
Why Do Chameleons Reach Up?It's a little strange: Eric is not reaching for food, so what the heck is he reaching for? And why does he do it so much?!
Chameleon sitting on someone's knee.Image via Shutterstock / Jacktamrong
If a Chameleon is reaching up toward the sky, it's because they saw something that intrigued them, or something they'd like to explore. For example, if a chameleon walks past a doorframe, they might confuse it for a branch and try to hop on.
Alternatively, they might be trying to reach higher ground in order to:
- Get a better look at their surroundings.
- Get closer to their basking spot (it could be a sign that their enclosure is too cold.
- Get your attention.
Keeping track of their temperatures is always important: you should move or adjust their basking spot as needed. Additionally, these guys love to climb: having plenty of places to let them do that will help keep them from attempting any dangerous stunts!

Bulldog Puppy Watches TV for First Time and It's an Immediate 'Nope'
Some of us enjoy watching comfort television, like cooking shows or home renovation programs. The more daring among us may crave a viewing experience that has us covering our eyes and sitting on the edge of our seats. But what do our pets enjoy?
It's fair to say we can rule out anything with giant, slithering snakes—especially for one sweet Bulldog pup.
In a sweet video shared on TikTok, we meet Oatmeal, who appears to be giving the film Anaconda two thumbs down. Watch as the on-screen snake scares this little guy and has him scooting away from the screen and crying for help.

What Dogs See When They Watch TVIf they're going out for the day, many pet parents opt to leave the TV on for their dogs.
Do dogs enjoy certain (non-Anaconda) programming? Some definitely do.
And just what do they see? While their vision isn't as sharp as ours and their color perception differs, they can still watch TV and get the picture, though images may appear to flicker to their eyes. Of course, they can enjoy the sounds they hear, too. Unfortunately, the sniff component is out of the question—at least until new technology makes it possible.
Experts recommend choosing programs that are soothing and don't include any sounds that indicate an animal is in distress.
We think some gentle cartoons may be better for little Oatmeal's viewing pleasure. We hope the sweet pup doesn't have nightmares about that snake!
Watch This Golden Retriever Reject Compliments After Grooming, Like a Humble King
There are two camps when it comes to dogs: those who treat a good grooming session like a relaxing spa day, and those who can't believe the audacity of their parents for taking them to a salon session. Zebby, the dramatic Golden Retriever, falls into the latter, and after his latest appointment, he let Mom know exactly how he felt (hint: Zebby is one unhappy boy)!

Zebby doesn't believe in grooming because he's a natural beauty. It's the face of sadness and betrayal that's too funny, and I'm positive my dog would react the same way.
Like dramatic Golden Retrievers everywhere, Zebby has to show his dissatisfaction when things don't go his way, but he has the kind of fur that requires regular care, so he and Mom are at an impasse. He does look like quite the handsome gent, even if he needs to pout about it for a hot minute!

One day, he might be the center of Mom's world and be the sweetest, goodest boy in the world, and the next, he's refusing to walk, and Mom has to come up with a plan to get him moving again. You never know with him!

♬ original sound - Deo M. Divinagracia - RetroSibs 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭 Why Some Dogs Hate Grooming SessionsDramatic pets like TikTok dog Zebby might not be a fan of going to the groomer for a variety of reasons, and as the American Kennel Club notes, it's important to consider these things if your pup reacts the same.
An unfamiliar environment with tools and loud noises can cause sensory overload, which makes them anxious, and anxiety can incite fear. One bad experience gives them a reason to stay away from that place! This means prioritizing early socialization, so they know how to cope with these sessions—then they can look as handsome as Zebby.
Other causes could be fear of being restrained, painful matting in their fur, or having sensitive or painful areas they don't want touched (like paws). Pet parents can ease a dog's fears with positive reinforcement, maintaining consistent routines, and desensitization to ensure the next trip is a good one. With summer coming, it's more important than ever!

Niall Harbison just shared another win for one of his rescue dogs. His massive social media following that details the many street dogs he saves and rehabilitates through his Thailand animal rescue, Happy Doggo, has captured the hearts of millions worldwide, and Harbison's latest post reveals another happy ending.
Sonny the Husky mix was abandoned by his family and in extremely poor health when Harbison was called in. Today, the precious pooch is thriving after receiving the love and care from the Happy Doggo team and even has a home to call his own.
View this post on InstagramSonny's family deserted him years earlier, yet he stayed in the rundown environment thinking they would come back. The Instagram video from @niall.harbison showed the horrific conditions he was living in. Sonny needed medical attention after so many years fending for himself.
"He was broken by neglect," the onscreen text shared.
Harbison brought him to the Happy Doggo sanctuary, where he received medical care, nutritious meals, and lots of love and affection from the entire rescue team.
"We took him in and fixed up his health and got his confidence back up," the caption explained, with clips of Sonny decked out in a bright bandana with a lush coat, welcoming the loving attention he was getting from the Happy Doggo staff.

Why This Macaw Insists on 'Holding Hands' Every Day
Some animals like a little space.
Some tolerate affection.
And then there are the ones who make it very clear that physical contact is not optional; it's part of the arrangement.
This Macaw is very much in that camp.
@bellaalicexoxthe most gentle giant #hyacinthmacaw #parrot
♬ som original - mands_In the video, we see him holding hands with his person, and it's almost unfairly cute. Not chaotic. Not clingy in a messy way. Just soft, steady, and weirdly tender. The caption says, “He loves holding hands,” which is simple and perfect because that really is the whole story. He likes contact. He likes closeness. He likes being right there.
And honestly, who doesn't like holding hands?
Macaws are huge birds. They have presence. They have those giant beaks that make them look a little intimidating if you don't know them. Then one calmly reaches out and holds a human hand like this, and suddenly the whole internet turns into a puddle. The post caption calling him “The most gentle giant” feels exactly right.
One comment says, “His little eyes are sparkling with joy,” and yes, that's the detail that gets you. He doesn't look random or restless. He looks content. Connected. Like this is one of his favorite parts of the day, and he's exactly where he wants to be.
This kind of clip gives people a glimpse of the relationships birds can build with the humans they trust. A lot of people still think of birds as more distant pets, beautiful but not especially emotionally expressive. Then a video like this pops up and reminds everyone that some of them are deeply social, deeply attached, and fully committed to being in your business at all times.
And really, there is something beautiful about the simplicity of it. No tricks. No huge setup. No dramatic reveal. Just one Macaw saying, in the clearest possible way, stay here with me a minute.
That's enough.
More than enough, honestly.
Because the best animal moments are often the small ones, the ones that show trust without trying too hard. A paw. A lean. A head resting against a shoulder. Or in this case, a Macaw reaching for a hand like it belongs there.
Which, to him, it probably does.
How Macaws Bond and CommunicateMacaws are highly social birds, and in the wild, Parrots often bond through close physical contact and mutual grooming behaviors like allopreening. Companion Macaws can redirect some of that social behavior toward their humans, which is why a habit like “holding hands” can be more than just cute; it can be a sign that the bird sees that person as part of their flock. Lafeber notes that Parrots in the wild commonly engage in allopreening, and VCA Hospitals explains that Macaws are intelligent, affectionate birds who need a great deal of daily attention and often form strong bonds with people.
That's also why routines like this matter. A shared daily ritual, even something as simple as sitting together and holding hands, can become part of how a bird feels secure and connected.
Honestly, this Macaw looked like he was not just holding hands, but filing an emotional claim on that human for life.

♬ awww so cute - Cherri ⁉️In many cases, yes. Rabbits are social animals and often thrive when they have a bonded companion. A well-matched pair can provide comfort, reduce stress, and encourage natural behaviors like grooming, playing, and, clearly, cuddling.
That said, bonding rabbits should be done carefully and gradually, as not all rabbits will get along immediately. Proper introductions and a neutral space are key to building a healthy bond.
It’s also important to spay or neuter rabbits before pairing them, unless you're fully prepared for the very real possibility of a lot of baby bunnies very quickly.

According to Dogster, a lot of it comes down to instinct.
Cinnamon doesn't understand what deafness is, but she has probably noticed behavioral differences in Bambi, like not responding when their mom calls or barking when someone comes to the door.
The Pomeranian is clearly very observant and has figured out that there is some reason her sister doesn't know when Mom comes home, so she has to change her behavior and respond accordingly, which means letting her know what's happening.
It's so caring and sweet, and it shows you just how sensitive dogs are.
With just a simple gesture, Cinnamon can communicate without sound to her fellow pup.

Shih-Tzu Breaks Into Ballerina Spins for Cucumbers and Completely Commits
My Pug does a "happy dance" the second he sees his dinner being prepared. He can't contain his excitement at the mere sight of a savory meal and breaks out in an adorable jig. Canines often have their own signature celebratory rituals when they're happy about things we tend to take for granted.
Cashew the Shih-Tzu is a perfect example of these creative expressions of joy. This precious pooch could be mistaken for a ballerina by the way she pirouettes when she sees a coveted tasty snack.
@thecashewbrandMmmm crunchy! #dogsoftiktok #dog #dogeating #cutedog #dancingdog
♬ Comical, heartwarming, animal happening video(892029) - Kids SoundWhile some dogs are selective with treats and prefer meaty or sweet morsels, Cashew seems like she has a very versatile palate. When her mom offered her a slice of cucumber in the TikTok from @thecashewbrand, the canine cutie launched into a series of spins worthy of the Royal Ballet.
Cashew's joy was palpable as she continuously twirled for the little cucumber slice. Her mom rewarded her performance with the green vegetable, and Cashew scurried away to enjoy her snack.
The canine cutie clearly loves fruits and veggies. Apparently, the darling dog dances for more than just cucumbers. Her social media account features her twirling for a variety of foods, including sweet potato, kiwi, green pepper, and even kale.
Followers marveled at Cashew's impressive moves and felt she was ready to go pro.
"Cashew's talents need to be shared on stage," one remarked.
"Petition for a tutu," another posted.
"I've never seen Cashew and Britney Spears in the same room," a follower pointed out.
"Is Cashew in ballet 3 times a week?" someone asked.
"I think Cashew may have been a ballerina in a past life. There seem to be signs," someone noted.
Dogs Turn Everyday Moments Into Something SpecialOur fur babies have a talent for taking mundane events and transforming them into some sort of mini celebration. When my Pug gets up in the morning, he doesn't just roll out of bed. He paws at me and gives me kisses til I wake up, then jumps off the bed and scampers toward the door with that adorable tush wiggle and tail wag. It's like his own little wake-up ritual and I love how it starts the day.
Consider how dogs view typical household items or what's on television. They see things through a different lens and find wonder and fascination with the little things in life.
Then there's how they greet their loved ones. Dogs never fail to give family members a warm welcome every time they walk in the door. Our canine companions show us how happy they are to see us, even if we've only been gone for five minutes.
Cashew proves dogs have a natural gift for brightening even the simplest moments.

No. 1 Thing That Calms An Anxious Dog, Vet Says
As pet parents, it’s natural to want your furry friend to feel safe and secure as they navigate everyday life. However, dog anxiety is common, and just like humans, dogs can experience stress and nervousness in certain situations. When you see your pup struggling with anxious dog behaviors, all you want to do as their protector is help them feel calm, supported and at ease. Luckily, there's a way you can do just that. To find out what a vet reveals is the number one thing that instantly calms an anxious dog, keep reading.
So what can cause dog stress and give a dog anxiety in the first place? "Changes in their schedule, environment or a disruption in their home life are common causes," says Dr. Chyrle Bonk, DVM, an Embrace Pet Insurance veterinarian contributor. "This includes changes in your work schedule, a new neighbor dog moving in or the loss or gain of someone in your household. Loud noises like thunderstorms or fireworks, separation from their family or lack of socialization are also big factors."
While pet owners can't control their neighbors shooting off fireworks or the weather. We can feel empowered to take steps to soothe our anxious pups. "Nobody likes getting that anxious feeling, your dog included," Dr. Bonk states. "But besides caring about how they are feeling, calming their anxiety is important for their long-term health and behavior as anxiety can lead to long-term stress that can affect your dog's digestion, immune function, heart health and skin health."
If you notice your dog is feeling anxious, Dr. Bonk says a specific step can make a huge difference. Below, she reveals her secret to instantly calm down a dog. You may be surprised how simple it is.

How to Calm Down an Anxious Dog An anxious dog having some alone time with its stuffed animal. What helps dogs with anxiety? When it comes to dog calming techniques, Dr. Bonk reveals that the thing she often suggests to people is to back off and give their dog some space if they are showing signs of dog anxiety and stress. She says this is one of the most effective vet-recommended ways to calm an anxious dog. “You want to give them their quiet space,” Dr. Bonk says. “This removes them from the anxious situation and gives them a chance to calm down without additional stimulation, helping with dog anxiety relief at home.”
You may have thought that you should rush in and your pet from their feelings in those moments, which is understandable sign of your deep love for your dog. However, Dr. Bonk says this approach can sometimes backfire when trying to calm an anxious dog fast. "Pet parents often think that their dog is more likely to calm down with them near," Dr. Bonk says. "This isn’t typically the case, usually because their being anxious makes us anxious. That anxiety can feed off of each other, making your dog worse off."
Instead, Dr. Bonk suggests creating a “cool-down space” as part of a broader dog calming strategy for anxiety and stress relief. It should be quiet, low-stimulation, and consistent, and you’ll want to honor it by allowing your dog time alone to decompress. "Most of the time, leaving a dog alone in their quiet space will be enough to calm their anxiety, but not always," Dr. Bonk states. "If the dog has become destructive, they may need intervention."

How to Create a Calming Space for Your DogNow that you know how to help an anxious dog feel less stressed, according to a vet, you can create a dog calming space in your home. That way it will help your devoted companion feel safe and panic less. “Your dog’s calming space should be somewhere off of the beaten path in your home,” Dr. Bonk states.
Therefore, keep it clear of common areas that regularly host loud guests, kids, and other pets (and, yes, even you). “It should be quiet, potentially darker, and have some of their familiar and favorite objects in it,” Dr. Bonk says. “Set up a comfy bed, a fresh bowl of water, and a favorite blanket or toy. Diffusing or spraying dog calming pheromones may also help.”
Other Ways to Calm an Anxious DogDr. Bonk may have revealed the best way to calm an anxious dog, however, she says it’s not the only thing you can do to help your pet manage dog anxiety and stress. Other vet-recommended calming techniques for dogs can also make a big difference.
Dr. Bonk shares that puzzle toys can also help stressed dogs feel more at ease by redirecting their focus and supporting natural dog anxiety relief. "Distractions can be very helpful when a dog is anxious," Dr. Bonk states. "Let them focus their attention on treats instead of anxiety."
Regular exercise is another key strategy for reducing dog anxiety naturally and preventing stress-related behavior. "Making sure your dog has daily exercise is a great way to deal with anxiety," Dr. Bonk emphasizes. "Exercise releases endorphins and serotonin that work against anxiety."
Dog anxiety can be stressful, especially if your pet is showing destructive behavior. Though, Dr. Bonk notes that it’s important to avoid punishment-based responses. "Punishment can lead to more anxiety and even fear," Dr. Bonk says.
Instead, focus on positive reinforcement for anxious dogs, keeping interactions calm and supportive. If symptoms persist, consider reaching out to a veterinarian or certified trainer for additional dog behavior and anxiety support.

Orange Cat Goes on a Walk and Gets Way Too Excited About Every Bird He Sees
Taking a cat outside always feels like a calm, wholesome idea in theory. Fresh air, a little sunshine, maybe a peaceful stroll. And then you remember you're dealing with a creature who has very strong opinions about birds and absolutely no ability to keep those opinions to himself.
In a video from TikTok, one very sweet Orange Cat named Frankie is carried around by his mom while he processes the outdoor world in real time. The second he notices birds in the trees, it's over. Completely over.
@frankie12fingersFrankie has a lot to say to a bird friend on this beautiful Friday afternoon! Hope you all have a great weekend! #talkingcat #cat #catsoftiktok #petsoftiktok #fyp
♬ Beautiful Memories - Lux-InspiraThe adorable video was shared by @frankie12fingers, and Frankie locks in immediately, staring up with wide eyes and his tiny mouth open, and then it starts. That unmistakable little “eck eck eck” chirping sound that cats make when they see something they very much want but can't have. It's part excitement, part frustration, part… something ancient.
Related: Maine Coon Cat's First Time Out in the Sun Is Pure Magic
He keeps looking up, meowing, chirping, practically vibrating with interest while his mom talks to him like this is a normal, manageable situation. Meanwhile, Frankie is clearly having a full internal experience. One commenter said, “I love when cats chirp. he’s so cute,” which feels correct because it's one of those sounds that never stops being funny.
Another person wrote, “Oh my gosh, he's actually smiling,” and honestly… he kind of is. In that very specific cat way, where they look thrilled and slightly unhinged at the same time. Someone else chimed in with, “My cat's an iPad kid, so,” alongside a photo of their kitty watching birds on a tablet, which feels like a very modern solution to this exact problem.
There was also a surprisingly educational comment: “Fun fact! Cats are trying to mimic the bird calls. If you listen closely, [he 's] trying to match the bird [he] hears. They do this to try to lure them out. Frankie, in this video, isn't trying to hunt, but still has the instinct to chirp when he hears them. So cute!” which makes the whole thing even better. Because in Frankie’s mind, this might be working.
And then someone else summed it up perfectly: “It’s so funny to me that cats make this noise to mimic the bird because they don’t sound ANYTHING like a bird. Like it’s the equivalent to me going outside and just yelling, ‘TWEET TWEET’ in a high pitch.” Which… yes. Exactly that.
How To Keep Your Cat Safe Outside @therealcatchroniclesHere are three safe outdoor enrichment options for cats: 1️⃣ Leash and Harness Leash training provides cats with both physical and mental stimulation by allowing them to safely explore new smells, sights, and sounds. Start slowly and stay consistent, always using a properly fitted harness (never attach a leash to a collar). Choose calm environments, avoid busy areas or off-leash pets, and always supervise your cat—even in your own yard. 2️⃣ Cat Strollers Cat strollers allow cats—especially senior, anxious, or disabled cats—to safely enjoy the outdoors without needing to walk long distances. To get yout cat used to a stroller, start indoors and place a familiar blanket or favorite toy inside the stroller and allow your cat to explore it indoors first. Begin with short trips in quiet areas, such as your driveway or a calm sidewalk, to help them gradually adjust. 3️⃣ Catios or Enclosures Catios and enclosed outdoor spaces allow cats to experience fresh air and sunshine while remaining protected from common outdoor risks. These setups are especially great for cats who enjoy birdwatching or lounging in the sun. Provide shade, water, and comfortable resting areas, and periodically check that the enclosure remains secure. ***Always supervise your cats while engaging in these activities. Share with a cat parent you know and follow us for more cat enrichment tips #catenclosure #catstroller #catonaleash
♬ Everybody Loves The Sunshine - Roy Ayers UbiquityIf you're taking your cat outside like this, there are a few simple ways to keep them safe while still letting them explore.
Using a harness and leash is one of the best options. It gives your kitty the chance to experience the outdoors without the risks that come with roaming freely. Not all cats love it at first, but with a little patience, many adjust surprisingly well.
Microchipping is another important step. Even if you're always supervising your cat, accidents can happen, and having updated identification greatly increases the chances of being reunited.
It also helps to choose calm, controlled environments and keep outings short at first. Watching your pet’s body language can tell you a lot about how comfortable they are.
Outdoor time can be super fun, especially for curious cats like Frankie. Just make sure it stays safe, because the birds aren't the only unpredictable part of the experience.

This Rescue Dog’s Tree-Climbing Skills Are So Wild, People Think She’s AI
Rescue dogs like Nola, the Treeing WalkerCoonhound mix, will defy expectations when given the chance. This athletic and bright girl isn't your average pup—she scales trees and fences like a seasoned Olympic gymnast competing for gold. Her talents are so jaw-dropping, stunning, and epic that fans can't help but wonder if she's AI!
View this post on InstagramAs you can see, Nola is a natural at this climbing thing! Mom Vanessa Marquette tells ParadePets it all began when the curious and determined Nola repeatedly escaped the yard, and they couldn't figure out how—until a neighbor saw her jump over the chain-link fence! They fixed the issue, but as a Treeing Walker Coonhound mix, Nola was bound to find a way back up.
"She really started climbing more in 2022, when we got a brand-new fence around the whole yard," Vanessa says. "She then had access to climb on the side and back fences, so she was excited to have more than one place to climb!"
In September 2022, right after a new fence was installed, Vanessa filmed Nola, and the video went viral with more than 2.7 million views on her personal TikTok. She has since created an account just for Nola's epic climbs, which more than 226k fans tune into. Mom knows it's time to grab the phone when Nola makes a run for it outside.

"She can sense if there are squirrels or anything outside she needs to check out and will typically climb every morning when she wakes, going first to the tree in the backyard, then the other side," she says. "She tends to climb more in the warmer months and when the neighbors are outside, but she will still climb almost daily, no matter the weather."
View this post on InstagramYou wouldn't know by how happy she is now, but the rescue pup was once overlooked at a North Carolina kill shelter before she found her way to North Country Pet Adoptions in New York.
There, Vanessa took in the 6-month-old Nola as a foster and adopted her three months later. Nola, who's mostly blind in one eye, is an incredible reminder that rescue dogs with unique features should never be overlooked.
Why Fans Think Nola Is AI-GeneratedAs if climbing isn't cool enough, it's Nola's sparkling personality that continues winning people over. Vanessa notes that not only is "Nosey Nola" curious and determined, but her problem-solving skills (in real time) are top-notch. Those are the exact reasons some fans aren't so sure this intelligent gal is even real.
"She's so good, some people have even questioned if she is AI!" Vanessa adds. "She’s become a fun way to highlight rescue dogs and show how smart and resilient they can be."

This Baby Girl Is Discovering the World—and Her German Shepherd Refuses to Miss a Single Moment
She's focused on the floor, on the texture, on the next thing she can reach.
Right behind her, step for step, is Rocky, her family's German shepherd.
Rocky doesn't get in the way. He doesn't nudge her or demand attention. He just stays close, watching every movement like it matters because to him it clearly does.
The video was posted to Rocky's YouTube channel and spread fast. In just over a minute, it captures something most pet videos miss entirely.
From Attention Seeker to Baby ProtectorOne comment said it better than anything else could: "I love how Rocky has gone from attention seeking baby to baby protector."
That shift is visible in how he moves. He positions himself close enough to react, far enough to give her room. He doesn't hover. He watches.
Sofia reaches for something on the floor. Rocky looks at her hand, then at her face. He doesn't move. Most dogs would have nudged in by now, looking for their share of the attention. Rocky just waits.
And at the 1:19 mark, he looks at her and his face does something that makes you grin—he actually smiles at her.

How Dogs Read BabiesBabies are unpredictable. They move in strange directions, make sounds that don't follow patterns and grab things without warning. Most animals find that unsettling.
Rocky doesn't.
Dogs tend to respond to infants differently than they do to adults. The combination of small size, unsteady movement and high-pitched sounds tends to bring out patience rather than anxiety in dogs that are well bonded to their family. Rocky shows exactly that. He's not tense. He's tuned in.
Another commenter caught the back-and-forth between them: "Sofia to Rocky: 'Did you find the Little Mermaid in this!?'"
It's a joke, but it points at something real. The two of them are clearly in a conversation, just not one that uses words.
The Part That Doesn't Need ExplainingRocky wasn't trained to do this specific thing. There's no command for "follow the baby around and watch what she touches." He just does it.
That's the difference between a dog that obeys and a dog that's paying attention. Rocky is paying attention.
Sofia keeps exploring. Rocky keeps watching. The room stays quiet in the way it only does when nothing is wrong and everyone who matters is accounted for. That's the whole video, and that's enough for Rocky.

Bulldog Refuses To Come Inside After Favorite Ball Breaks, And It’s Heartbreaking
The loss of a favorite toy can lead to complete heartbreak, and one dramatic Bulldog is proving just how real those feelings can be. After his favorite ball suddenly burst during playtime, the pup refused to come inside, choosing instead to sit alone outside and process the moment. If you’ve ever had a dog with a favorite toy, you’ve likely seen this kind of reaction—and it’s both funny and surprisingly emotional.
To know a Bulldog is to understand just how deeply this breed feels. Bulldogs are known for being gentle, loyal, and incredibly attached—not just to their humans, but to the things they love. What comes with those big feelings is an equally strong sense of stubbornness. In this case, that means staying put, even if it means sitting outside in quiet protest.
In a viral dog video shared to social media, the despondent Bulldog can be seen sitting alone on a toy trampoline, completely still, as if replaying the moment over and over. He doesn’t chase after the other dogs, doesn’t respond to calls—he just sits, staring off, clearly not ready to move on from what just happened. Moments earlier, according to mom and dad’s caption, he had been happily playing with his brother when his favorite ball suddenly broke.

♬ Hide and Seek - Sare Remix - Lizz RobinettThe video quickly gained traction, racking up more than 75K likes, with viewers immediately recognizing the pup’s emotional state. Pet parents flooded the comments with empathy, turning the post into a shared moment of understanding. “That’s a sad boy. Get him a new ball now,” one person wrote, echoing what many were thinking.
Bulldogs are emotional to their core, and their reactions often mirror the feelings we see in ourselves. “Yeah Bulldogs’ feelings get hurt real easy, and they pout like a little child,” another commenter shared. While it may seem dramatic, experts often point to Bulldogs’ high emotional intelligence as the reason behind behaviors like this.
This breed is especially sensitive to changes in routine or environment, and that includes the sudden loss of something familiar. Bulldogs can pick up on emotional shifts and internalize them, which is why something as simple as a broken toy can feel like a much bigger loss. In this case, the ball wasn’t just a toy—it was part of his daily joy.
As social media continues to highlight funny dog moments and viral animal videos, it’s easy to laugh at behavior like this. But for many pet parents, it’s also deeply relatable. Dogs form real attachments, and when something changes, they need time to adjust—just like we do.
“I guess I’m going to the store to buy him a new ball,” mom wrote at the end of the caption. It’s a simple solution, but one that feels necessary. Because sometimes, fixing a broken heart—even a Bulldog’s—starts with replacing what was lost.
