2024 Oscar-Nominated Drama Ranked 'the Most Perfect Film' Since 2020

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 2:58pm

The first six years of the 2020s have produced several significant films. For instance, the publication Colliderrecently spotlighted some of the most acclaimed films that came out within the last six years with a ranking of the "10 most perfect movies released since 2020."

The list, published in February 2026, featured movies like Killers of the Flower Moon from 2023, 2022's The Banshees of Inisherin, and One Battle After Another, released in 2025. According to Collider, the most perfect movie that premiered in the 2020s is 2024's The Brutalist. The publication pointed to the film's compelling, upsetting story and Adrien Brody's haunting portrayal of Holocaust survivor László Tóth as what made the movie a stand-out.

Adrien Brody Discussed His 'Brutalist' Character in a 2025 Interview

Brody, whose portrayal of László earned him his second Oscar, discussed the character in a 2025 interview with Letterboxd. He noted that László's trauma can be seen in his architectural designs.

"What I think is so special about the film is that it parallels or illustrates how your experiences influence your work and the traumas that László is contending with shaped the structure that is an embodiment of himself and his own rebuilding," said the actor during the interview. "And the kind of walled-off areas and cavernous open space is kind of representative of the shell of the man that he is. And yet there is a spiritual heart and core to this space, and it speaks to traumas of what he lived through in surviving a concentration camp. And yet, there's connection and hopes and dreams of connecting to God."

Brody also said he felt that any artist, no matter their choice of medium, can identify with László.

"I think it's just so lovely and really speaks to art and the journey of artists. All of us, filmmakers, painters, photographers, composers, architects, you name it, anybody who's doing anything yearning to leave behind work is living that struggle. And then it also speaks to that immigrant experience," said Brody while speaking to Letterboxd.

Mackenzie Shirilla Update: Mom Shares Details of Daughter’s Haunting Prison Drawings

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 2:57pm

Mackenzie Shirilla’s mother is offering new insight into what her daughter’s life has been like behind bars. In a recent interview with Chris Cuomo, Natalie Shirilla shared details of some artwork that her daughter has been working on, which she described as self-portraits filled with symbolic imagery reflecting confusion, grief, and unanswered questions.

"She’s never seen the evidence. She’s never seen the discovery. She’s never seen anything,” Natalie told Cuomo on a recent episode of his Crime Time podcast. “She’s almost trapped in a nightmare that she has. All she knows is that the boyfriend that she loved with her whole, whole heart is gone and Davion is gone and she was the driver in a car accident, and has no memory of it.”

Mackenzie was convicted of killing her boyfriend, Dominic Russo, and their friend, Davion Flanagan, after she was driving a car that crashed into a wall at nearly 100 mph. Mackenzie was sentenced to two 15-year-to-life prison sentences which she is serving concurrently at the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville, Ohio. To this day, Mackenzie maintains that she doesn't remember what happened when the car crashed. Her case was also the subject of a Netflix documentary, called The Crash, which was released in May 2026.

While behind bars, Mackenzie has been spending some time drawing.

"It’s so sad, and one of these days I’ll share it, but I’m not going to share it now for obvious reasons, but it’s really sad," Natalie said about her daughter’s artwork. "She does self-portraits of herself where she has… like a rose of thorns around her neck or like her mouth is sewn shut and she’s got all these question marks around her head like, 'Why, why, why?'"

"And like, ‘Where’s Dom?’ Like, ‘What happened and [to] Davion?’ It’s like so sad she’s literally trapped in this nightmare, and so she struggles mentally with that part and I feel bad for everybody," Natalie continued.

Mackenzie's legal team has sought to appeal the verdict three times without success. She will be eligible for parole in 2037.

Rock Icon, 76, Named No. 1 Most Shocking Departure in Rock History

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 2:51pm

In 1975, fans wondered whether Genesis could survive after charismatic frontman Peter Gabriel announced he was leaving the band at the height of its progressive rock success. More than 50 years later, that decision has been recognized as the biggest shock of them all.

BBC Music Magazine recently ranked rock's most surprising band departures, placing Gabriel's exit from Genesis at No. 1. The list argues that his departure seemed like a death knell for the group, which had become known for his theatrical stage performances and elaborate costumes.

Instead, the move reshaped rock history. Drummer Phil Collins stepped into the lead singer role, helping transform Genesis from progressive rock favorites into one of the biggest pop-rock bands of the 1980s. Gabriel also flourished as a solo artist, releasing acclaimed albums including So and hits such as "Sledgehammer," "Solsbury Hill," "Shock the Monkey" and "In Your Eyes." He was later inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame both as a member of Genesis and as a solo performer.

According to BBC Music Magazine, Gabriel left Genesis after growing increasingly detached from the band's democratic songwriting process and wanting to focus on family life. While many believed the band couldn't continue without its distinctive frontman, both Gabriel and Genesis went on to enjoy even greater commercial success following the split.

The publication said the departure stands apart because it created two remarkably successful second acts rather than ending either career. Genesis evolved into an arena-filling powerhouse with Collins at the helm, while Gabriel became an innovative solo star whose work blended rock, world music and social activism.

Other Legendary Departures That Made The Top 5

Gabriel was followed by several other iconic rock exits, beginning with Paul Westerberg's departure from The Replacements at No. 2.

David Lee Roth's split from Van Halen ranked No. 3 after the singer walked away while the band was one of the biggest acts in the world.

Fleetwood Mac founder Peter Green came in at No. 4, with the publication arguing that his departure permanently altered both the band and the direction of British blues.

Rounding out the top five was Eric Clapton's exit from The Yardbirds in 1965, a move that ultimately led to Jeff Beck and later Jimmy Page joining the band while Clapton launched the next phase of his own legendary career.

Savannah Guthrie Missing From 'Today' Following a Difficult Week

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 2:48pm

Savannah Guthrie was noticeably absent from Today on Friday after an emotionally draining week.

In her place, NBC News' Laura Jarrett joined the morning show on June 26 alongside Garrett Haake, who filled in for Craig Melvin.  “Garrett Haake is with me; we are in for Savannah and Craig, who are getting a bit of a head start on the weekend,” Jarrett explained before diving into the stories of the day.

The break comes just days after Guthrie delivered an emotional on-air plea regarding the disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie, and as troubling new developments in the case continued to come to light.

On Tuesday, June 23, during the broadcast, Savannah fought back tears while addressing viewers directly after NBC News revealed a report that the second ransom note connected to her mother's alleged kidnapping claimed the 84-year-old had died. "This is unusual and unprecedented to say the least to be sitting here," Savannah said before pleading for information.

The beloved host also reminded viewers that while the case has become a national headline, it remains an everyday reality for her family. "This is a news story today that is on your radar, but this is the life my sister, Annie Guthrie, lives, that I live, that my brother, Cameron Guthrie, lives, that our extended families live, that our children live every day," she said.

The emotional appearance followed the public release of details from a second note allegedly sent by Nancy's kidnapper. While the existence of the note had previously been known, its contents had not. According to NBC News, the message claimed Nancy had died.

And Friday's absence comes just over a week after Savannah also missed the June 17 broadcast of Today. At the time, Melvin assured viewers she was simply "on assignment," while Sheinelle Jones stepped in to co-host the show.

Earlier this year, Savannah took an extended leave from Today after Nancy disappeared from her Arizona home on February 1. She returned to the anchor desk in April after sitting down with former co-anchor Hoda Kotb, explaining that coming back to Today felt right because the show had always been her "happy place" during difficult moments. She said returning to work gave her a sense of normalcy while her family continued searching for answers.

Jim Carrey Reveals Tommy Lee Jones Absolutely 'Hated' Him While Filming 'Batman Forever': 'I Really Don't Like You'

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 2:35pm

In theory, it's hard to imagine any movie relying on the chemistry of such wildly different actors as Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones.

With Carrey known for his off-the-walls manic energy and Jones frequently playing the soft-spoken, older curmudgeon, the two stars seemed something of an odd couple pairing ahead of 1995's Batman Forever.

Playing the antagonistic roles of the Riddler (Carrey) and Two-Face (Jones), both actors earned a less-than-favorable response from viewers upon the movie's debut, mainly due to the over-the-top performances both gave as their respective characters.

Interestingly, in addition to their inorganic chemistry on-camera, Carrey said that he and Jones proved less than cordial to one another off-camera as well.

During a 2017 guest appearance on Norm Macdonald Live, Carrey told the late Macdonald that Jones had a somewhat prickly attitude when it came to their interactions together.

Illustrating his point, Carrey recalled a time when, after a day of filming, he and Jones happened to find themselves at the same restaurant. When a surprised Carrey went over to say hi to Jones, the Truman Show star remembered Jones "shaking" in fury at the mere sight of his co-star.

"The maitre d' said, 'Oh, I hear you're working with Tommy Lee Jones. He's over in the corner having dinner,'" Carrey said. "I went over and I said, 'Hey Tommy, how are you doing?' and the blood just drained from his face. Like he had been thinking about me 24 hours a day."

"He got up shaking — he must have been in mid kill-me fantasy or something like that," the Mask actor continued. "And he went to hug me and he said, 'I hate you. I really don't like you.' And I said, 'What's the problem?' And pulled up a chair, which probably wasn't smart. And he said, 'I cannot sanction your buffoonery.'"

Elsewhere in the interview, Carrey speculated that Jones' animosity might have stemmed from the fact that Carrey had a more prominent role in Batman Forever than he did.

However, in spite of Jones' "hatred" of the actor, Carrey went on to say he didn't hold any bitter feelings toward the No Country for Old Men actor.

“I was the star and that was the problem,” Carrey speculated. “He’s a phenomenal actor, though. I still love him.”

1997 Movie Tops Ranking of Perfectly Written, But Forgotten Sci-Fi Films

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 2:23pm

While science fiction is one of the most popular movie genres, not every sci-fi film remains relevant. This is even true for science fiction films that can be considered masterpieces. Collider recently highlighted some well-written sci-fi films that faded in popularity by releasing a ranking of the "8 forgotten sci-fi movies that are perfectly written."

The publication's list, published in May 2026, featured movies like 2006's A Scanner Darkly, Primer from 2004, and 1998's Dark City. The 1997 Andrew Niccol-directed and written film Gattaca, which explores themes of eugenics, took home the ranking's top spot.

Gattaca, which stars Ethan Hawke as Vincent Freeman and Jude Lawas Jerome Morrow, has a score of 82 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and 64 on Metacritic.

Ethan Hawke Shared He Believed 'Gattaca' Was One of His Most Overlooked Films

While filming the 2007 documentary, Ethan Hawke: Jealousy Is A Simple Waste Of Time, wherein he discussed his filmography, Hawke shared that he believed Gattaca was underappreciated upon its release.

"Gattaca is a film I'm very proud of that was very much ignored when it came out. I mean, it just came and went and barely got a good review," said the actor.

He theorized that audiences didn't flock to theaters to see the science fiction film because it's contemplative, rather than action-oriented.

"I think that first off, it was marketed like a sci-fi movie and people were disappointed that there was no action in the movie," said Hawke.

In addition, Hawke said he believed the movie can be considered excellent due to its exploration of "individual rights" and "what makes up an individual" while focusing on the idea of genetic modification.

"So rarely do films use the device of metaphor, you know, or allegory and Gattaca really does it. And Gattaca was ahead of its time, all this stuff about genetic engineering and all the stuff that's happening now, it was a little ahead of its time," said Hawke.

Why Joni Mitchell Wrote 'The Circle Game' for Neil Young

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 2:14pm

Joni Mitchell and Neil Young met in 1961 and became friends. It's no surprise that they influenced each other's music throughout the years.

Mitchell, 82, released her cover of The Circle Game in 1966. She revealed that she wrote it for Young, 80, who was feeling down on his birthday.

Joni Mitchell Wrote 'The Circle Game' for Neil Young After He Turned 20

"The Circle Game" starts with lyrics about a child playing before time passes. The chorus reminds, "And the seasons they go round and round/And the painted ponies go up and down/We're captive on the carousel of time."

Mitchell told Broadside in 1968 that Young wasn't feeling good about becoming an adult. She wanted to paint a more positive picture of the circle of life.

"I wrote ‘Circle Game’ about a friend of mine named Neil Young, who was lamenting lost youth at 21," she said. "He decided all the groovy things to do were behind him now, he was too old to do them; suddenly he was an adult with all the responsibilities. He had been told all his life that all the things he wanted to do, they said, ‘Wait ’till you are older.’ Now he was older and he didn’t want to do those things any more."

Those responsibilities included school, then dropping out for his music career. Young wrote "Sugar Mountain," channeling his angst about the confusing stage of life, which inspired Mitchell's "The Circle Game."

'Sugar Mountain' Inspired 'The Circle Game'

Young told a live audience that "Sugar Mountain" that he wrote the song on his 20th birthday. "Oh, to live on, Sugar Mountain/With the barkers and the colored balloons/You can't be 20 on Sugar Mountain/Though you're thinking that you're leaving there too soon," he sang.

The songwriter's perspective on aging has changed since 20. He also released more songs about aging. "Old Man" from his 1972 Harvest Moon album follows a conversation between a younger and older man.

"Old man, take a look at my life, I'm a lot like you/I need someone to love me the whole day through/Ah, one look in my eyes and you can tell that's true," the younger man says. Bob Dylan and Phil Ochs influenced Young at the time. He still held Dylan in high regard in his 2005 Time interview.

"He's the master," the songwriter said. "If I'd like to be anyone, it's him. And he's a great writer, true to his music and done what he feels is the right thing to do for years and years and years. He's great. He's the one I look to."

Young's career has also continued for years. The 80-year-old singer-songwriter released an album called As Time Explodes, full of songs throughout his career, in 2025. He released a live concert film called Corduroy Plants on his website in June 2026.

How-to and Self-Help Book Sales Are Declining — And AI Is Partially To Blame

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 2:09pm

Back in April 2026, Publishers Weekly announced some sobering news for the book world. The sales for Self-Help and How-To adult non-fiction had dropped by 8.8% in Q1 of 2026 from the same period in 2025.

Tim Ferris, who is the author of a number of How-To books, including The 4-Hour Work Week and The 4-Hour Body, looked into the numbers in more detail. He had seen a drop, and when he started looking at the figures between 2022 and Q1 of 2026, he noticed a sharp decline during the last couple of years.

At first, the drop was just 5%, which is normal in the book world. Sales can fluctuate, and in 2023, the end of the pandemic financial crisis was starting to hit many people. However, by 2025, sales dropped by 43% compared to 2024, and in 2026, the sales had dropped by 57% compared to the first quarter of 2025.

In fact, he believes that he’ll sell roughly 80% fewer copies of his books compared to 2022. It’s a staggering loss, and he looked at all the reasons this could have happened. While the pandemic and the current change in finances have certainly affected sales in some way, he believes that AI is mostly to blame.

You see, the big drops started in 2025, when apps like ChatGPT and Gemini were starting to gain more popularity. That is continuing in 2026, and it’s simply due to the information being both free and personalized.

AI is mining the advice given in YouTube videos, podcasts, and through self-help books. It’s then taking the most important information and sharing it with people for absolutely nothing. It’s possible to put in bodyweight, lifestyles, and any injuries to create more personalized approaches to lose weight, improve a work-life balance, and even build social connections.

Despite all this, Ferris isn’t all that worried, as there are some nuances to his books that AI can’t develop.

However, what about other authors? Should others be worried? There is a growing push against AI, with multiple authors banding together to create a book that is purely a list of names. The big five publishers, among others, are working together to sue LLM companies to prevent the mining of the copyrighted works.

When it comes to fiction, the sales didn’t drop. At least, not considerably, and not likely due to AI. While romance sales did drop between Q1 of 2025 and Q2 of 2025, Publishers Weekly put that down to Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros drawing masses of attention in 2025, with nothing to counter that in 2026. Graphic novels saw an increase by 28.5%.

Ferris’ ideas about AI being the reason for the downfall in adult non-fiction book sales make sense with that in mind. And soon, AI won’t just affect books.

1965 Song, Written by a 15-Year-Old, Became One of Motown's Greatest Hits

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 1:58pm

In the mid-1960s, Stevie Wonderreleased a track that would go on to be known as one of Motown's greatest hits.

The legendary singer-songwriter released "Uptight (Everything's Alright)" on Nov. 22, 1965. At the time of the release, Wonder was just 15 years old and facing a few hurdles in his career due to him growing up and his changing voice. However, the song became a huge hit and launched him into superstardom. Enjoying a ton of commercial success, the song soared to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, where it stayed for five weeks. Elsewhere on the charts, it peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 14 on the U.K. Singles Chart.

According to reports, "Uptight (Everything's Alright)" was written under rushed conditions and in a short amount of time. Songwriter Sylvia Moy, who collaborated with Wonder on the track alongside Henry Crosby, had the lyrics ready to go, except that they hadn't been written in Braille for Wonder. Instead, she hopped into the vocal booth with him and sang the lyrics to him while he recorded them, one line at a time.

A few months after the song was presented to the world, Wonder released his album of the same name. Up-Tight Everything's Alright was the musician's fifth studio album.

Reflecting on his career during an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Wonder spoke about his creative processes and how he crafted his best-selling hits.

"I normally write the melody first. Before I play the chords, I can hear them. It's like imagining a picture before putting it on paper," he explained in 2004. "I'll usually have the basic idea of a line in a song, like "I'll be loving you always." For that song, I knew the feeling I wanted to write about. I just didn't have all the lyrics."

Wonder first entered the music industry in 1961, signing with Motown Records and earning the nickname "Little Stevie Wonder." His 1963 song, "Fingertips," made history as the then-13-year-old became the youngest solo artist to top the Billboard Hot 100.

Eddie Murphy Reveals James Brown Told Him to Stop Cursing: 'That's the Kind of Advice I Used to Get'

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 1:58pm

Eddie Murphy might be one of the most respected names in the entertainment industry today, but even he had to learn the ropes when it came to navigating the basics of success.

Fortunately, a young Murphy received some incredibly helpful advice on rising to the forefront of the entertainment industry from none other than James Brown, who encouraged the up-and-coming comedian to avoid cursing so much in his acts.

According to a recent Instagram clip promoting Apple TV's new documentary, Number One on the Call Sheet, Murphy mentioned that Brown advised him to ease back on the foul langue early on in his career, helping secure his place in the industry for years to come.

"James Brown told me to, he asked me to. He told me I should stop cursing," Murphy recalled. "He said, 'You want to be in this business a long time? You can stop that cursing.'"

If that weren't helpful enough, Murphy said that Brown also offered him a helpful way to ensure his finances were in check, specifically when it came to saving money rather than spending or letting the "government take it."

"He said, 'Do you think you got a million dollars?'" Murphy went on to say. "I said, 'Yeah, I do.' He said, 'You ain't got a million dollars. If you do got a million dollars, you take it, you bury it in the woods."

As Brown saw it, burying the cash was the safest way to keep your finances from being seized by the government.

"I said, 'But can't the government take your land?' He said, 'But they won't know where the money is.' That's a true story. So that's the kind of advice I used to get," the breakout Saturday Night Live star remembered with a laugh. "We didn't have a lot of elders."

Look for the 'Teapot' in Tonight's Sky— It Can Lead You Straight to the Milky Way

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 1:56pm

You don't need a telescope to enjoy one of summer's most impressive celestial events. All you have to do is find a familiar-looking pattern of stars known as the Teapot—and it can point you toward the brightest section of the Milky Way.

How to Find the Teapot

Nestled within Sagittarius, the Teapot isn't a constellation, but rather an asterism made up of eight stars. These stars originally formed the bow and arrow of Sagittarius. Thanks to its distinctive handle, lid, and spout shapes, stargazers find the Teapot an easy guide to direct their gaze to one of the most stunning parts of our galaxy.

From July through September, the Teapot is best spotted when Sagittarius is highest above the southern horizon after sunset. If you're in the Northern Hemisphere, look low in the southern sky a couple of hours after dark, while stargazers in the Southern Hemisphere will find it higher in the sky.

For the best view, head to a place away from bright city lights and give your eyes about 20 to 30 minutes to adjust to the darkness. Even if light pollution makes the Milky Way hard to see, the Teapot is bright enough to spot, making it an excellent starting point for a night of summer stargazing. But the viewing doesn't stop there.

The "Steam" Reveals the Milky Way

Picture steam pouring from a teapot's spout. Now imagine that same 'steam' as a glowing band of the Milky Way. Because the Teapot points toward the center of our galaxy, where countless stars, nebulae, and star clusters create one of the brightest sections of the Milky Way visible from Earth, when the sky is especially dark, the Milky Way looks like steam billowing up from the spout.

Astronomers note that while the galactic center lies roughly 30,000 light-years away and is hidden behind clouds of dust and gas, looking in that direction means you're facing the supermassive black hole Sagittarius A*, which is the heart of our home galaxy.

Make the Most of Your Stargazing Session

If you have a pair of binoculars or a small telescope, don't stop after finding the Teapot. The surrounding region is packed with dazzling deep-sky objects, including glowing nebulae and ancient globular star clusters that become visible under dark skies.

Even without any special equipment, the Teapot is one of the easiest and most rewarding star patterns to learn. Once you know where to look, you'll have a simple way to find the brightest, richest stretch of the Milky Way every year.

Denver's Legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater Turns 85-Years-Old

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 1:52pm

Happy birthday, Red Rocks Amphitheater. The iconic venue, set in the Rocky Mountain foothills, 15 miles outside Denver, Colorado, just turned 85. Beloved for both sound and scenery, Red Rocks has become a bucket-list venue for artists and fans alike, the kind of venue where bands record legendary live shows and concert-goers fly in from around the world for a night they won’t forget. 1.75 million people attended 236 events at Red Rocks in 2025 alone, from rock, country, and indie concerts to EDM shows, yoga classes, movie nights, and even a rave for babies.

Carlos Santana once called it “a temple, a shrine.” Kesha said it was “a dream to play Red Rocks” ahead of her sold-out June 1 show. Now Red Rocks' legendary status is inspiring copycats, with a 10,000-seat “White Rocks” outdoor concert space planned for the Texas Hill Country outside Austin.

What’s the Big Deal About Red Rocks?

The eponymous red rocks themselves are around 300 million years old, and some of the first known visitors were dinosaurs, including an aquatic plesiosaur that swam in the shallow inland sea that once covered the land where Denver sits. Later, this was considered sacred ground by the Ute, Cheyenne, and Arapaho, the Indigenous tribes who called this region home before European settlers arrived.

Early performances by bandleader Pietro Satriano and opera singer Mary Garden between 1906 and 1911 helped inspire the construction of dedicated concert facilities by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the late 1930s. The one-of-a-kind venue is built into a hillside between the towering sandstone formations known as Creation Rock and Ship Rock. The design, which cost $750,000 to construct, was by Denver architect Burnham Hoyt, perhaps best known for his work on the interior of Riverside Church in Morningside Heights, Manhattan.

Soprano Helen Jepson led 100 orchestra musicians and another 100 choralists in the first official performance at Red Rocks on June 15, 1941. The occasion was covered by Time magazine a week later in an article that declared, “in this enclosure, a whisper sounds clearly, and anything from one fiddle to a full band sends lush tones rolling upward.”

Red Rocks has been attracting top talent ever since, including Igor Stravinsky, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Jimi Hendrix, John Denver, Yo-Yo Ma, and The White Stripes. The Grateful Dead played at Red Rocks over 20 times in the 1970s and 80s, a record later broken by jam band The String Cheese Incident and smashed by Widespread Panic. Bruce Springsteen played his first outdoor concert there. Jethro Tull accidentally caused the “Riot at Red Rocks” that resulted in a 5-year ban on rock acts in the 1970s.

According to the band’s autobiography U2 by U2, the band recorded its live album Under a Blood Red Sky at Red Rocks in 1983 after first seeing the venue two years earlier. Despite plunging temperatures and volatile weather, the striking visuals from the “Sunday Bloody Sunday” video helped the album go triple-platinum.

Since then, numerous bands have captured the magic at Red Rocks on film and vinyl, including Incubus, Opeth, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, John Tesh, Stevie Nicks, Dave Matthews Band, The Moody Blues, Imagine Dragons, Depeche Mode, Neil Young, the Grateful Dead, and even comedian Steve Martin

Planning Your Trip to Red Rocks in Morrison, Colorado

The Red Rocks 2026 concert season includes shows by The Avett Brothers, Hilary Duff, The Strokes, Sarah McLachlan, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Wynonna Judd & Melissa Etheridge, LCD Soundsystem, Tori Amos, Goose, John Fogerty, Brandi Carlile, Lily Allen, Bleachers, and Beck. For anyone planning a trip, it’s worth noting that Red Rocks is best accessed either by car, third-party shuttles and party buses, or ride-share services like Uber and Lyft. Red Rocks isn’t in Denver proper or even the same county, which has slowed the development of public transit offerings to the venue.

A pilot program launched Memorial Day weekend, allowing riders to take the W-line train from Denver’s Union Station to the Jefferson County Government Center. From there, a shuttle is available to several locations in Morrison, Colorado, including the Red Rocks Trading Post. However, the pilot is currently only offered during daytime hours on weekends for the summer of 2026– planners envisioned it more as a way to access the hiking trails around Red Rocks and nearby Dinosaur Ridge than a way to get home from the latest Geese show.

That’s one problem that developers of the future White Rocks venue in Austin want to solve. Planned for a location 15 minutes down State Highway 71 near Bee Cave, the 10,000-seat White Rocks Amphitheater will be accompanied by a 150-room hotel and 600 residences. Hopefully, 71 acres will be enough to keep the latter away from any sound spillage from the venue.

Residents in Colorado Springs are suing the city-owned Ford Amphitheater for noise pollution and public nuisance. Opened as recently as 2024 to acclaim from industry publications like Billboard, the 8,000-seat venue has filed for noise hardship permits, but continues to receive pushback from residents in nearby apartments and neighborhoods as far as 2 miles away.

Fortunately, there's no such problem at Red Rocks, where the closest neighbors are the venue's population of friendly raccoons, who have been known to join the crowd for a show or two, or even take crowd control into their own paws.

Harvey Keitel, 87, Turns Heads in Rare Outing with Distinguished White Hair

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 1:48pm

Harvey Keitel is one of the most respected actors in Hollywood, but fans are heralding him as a fashion star.

The legendary actor, 87, known for diverse roles ranging from The Piano to Reservoir Dogs, has always been known as an icon of the screen. But these days, he's getting plenty of credit for his style. Sporting white hair tucked behind his ears and a short white beard, Keitel looked dapper as can be at the Filming Italy 2026 photocall in Santa Margherita di Pula, Italy. Wearing a polo shirt and black sunglasses, Keitel gazed at the camera.

Just last week, Keitel stepped out with his wife, Daphna Kastner, and son, Roman Keitel, at the 16th Athens Open Air Film Festival in Athens, Greece. For this fashion turn, Keitel wore black on black and finished off the outfit with Birkenstock sandals.

What Did Keitel Say About Losing His Friend and Co-star, Michael Madsen?

Last year, Keitel’s friend and Reservoir Dogs costar Michael Madsen died at age 67. The duo appeared alongside each other in director Quentin Tarantino‘s beloved 1992 film, which follows the story of a diamond heist that goes terribly wrong. In a touching statement, Keitel shared his grief and honored his friend’s memory.

“We’ve lost another great American poet,” Keitel said in a statement to the New York Post. “Farewell, my dear friend.”

The gang reunited for a screening in 2017 at the Tribeca Film Festival for the film’s 25th anniversary.

Does Harvey Keitel Plan on Retiring?

Keitel is going strong at 87. Back in 2019, the actor shared why he doesn’t feel all that interested in slowing down as he ages. In an interview with the Guardian, he opened up about the potential to step into retirement.

“Retirement? No, not really.I don’t think anyone loses their powers as they get older. As long as you’re involved and interested, then you can’t lose it,” said Keitel. “That’s how I keep being surprised. Old age is actually infused with youthful things. I eat properly, I exercise, and I don’t abuse anything. I take care of myself.”

What Taylor Swift Song Are You, Based on Birth Date

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 1:46pm

Whether you’ve scoured the web far and wide to score the best deal on Eras tour tickets, own one of her albums on vinyl, or can’t help humming along to her latest single, it’s nearly impossible to not appreciate the force that is Taylor Swift. From her recent surprise duet with Lainey Wilson to her Knicks courtside appearance with HAIM and her latest chart-topping album The Life of a Showgirl, the mastermind songwriter and global icon continues to fascinate and mesmerize audiences the world over. One might argue that her influence is so powerful because Swift’s lyrics are so relatable. There’s pretty much a mood, narrative, or plot in one of her tracks for everyone—especially if you’re considering your birth date, which tells a story about your personality, strengths, and perspective.

Each Birth Date as a Taylor Swift Song

Read on to learn which Taylor Swift track best reflects your vibe, based on the date you were born.

RELATED: Which Taylor Swift Song Are You, Based on Your Birth Month

Born on the 1st, 10th, 19th, or 28th: “Opalite”

You were born on a date associated with the sun, the luminary that rules self-image, confidence, and purpose in astrology. Swift’s second single off of 2025’s The Life of a Showgirl, “Opalite” tells the tale of living through a dark time by “dancing through the lightning strikes” but coming out the other side to find that the “sky is opalite.” The lyrics “you had to make your own sunshine” very much resonates with your spirit, as you’re able to remain optimistic, positive, and bright even in the face of resistance and challenges. But it’s always a gift when you’re met with as much light as you supply others.

Born on the 2nd, 11th, 20th, or 29th: “The Best Day”

You were born on a day that’s connected to the moon, which rules intuition, instincts, and emotions. It’s also the luminary associated with family, security, and feeling comfy and cozy with your nearest and dearest, which is exactly the vibe of this heartfelt track off of 2008’s Fearless. It’s pretty much impossible to listen to lyrics like “I have an excellent father/His strength is making me stronger/God smiles on my little brother/Inside and out he's better than I am” or “I grew up in a pretty house/And I had space to run/and I had the best days with you” and not get sentimental, in your feelings, and even a bit teary, thanks to your lunar influence.

OTHER: 4 Birth Months Bound for Success, Accordilng to Experts

Born on the 3rd, 12th, 21st, or 30th: “Cruel Summer”

As someone whose birth date reduces down to three, a number ruled by Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system that oversees abundance, expansion, and good fortune, you live large and tend to be compelled to go big or going home, which mirrors the vibe of this big, bold, shimmery pop smash that got a second life when Taylor made it the first full track to open her record-breaking Eras Tour. The beloved track off of 2019’s Lover is particularly up your alley because it boasts big energy sing-a-long vibes, especially to the dramatic bridge that the first part of the song builds to: “I'm drunk in the back of the car and I cried like a baby comin' home from the bar/Said, ‘I'm fine,’ but it wasn't true I don't wanna keep secrets just to keep you.”

EXPAND: Your Signature Ice Cream Flavor, Based on Your Birth Date

Born on the 4th, 13th, 22nd, or 31st: “Getaway Car”

Your birth date reduces down to four, which is associated with Uranus, the planet of futuristic, innovation, electricity, and electrifying, sudden change. You adore defying what’s mainstream or expected, shocking people in unexpected ways, and often opting for a contrarian approach. That’s most definitely a theme that came up on Taylor’s 2017 album Reputation, and the track “Getaway Car” documents a rebound relationship that offered Taylor Uranian-esque rebellion. Lyrics like “It was the great escape, the prison break/The light of freedom on my face” speaks to your desire to go with your gut and strike out on your own whenever necessary.

NEXT: Which Van Gogh Painting Mirrors Your Soul, Based on Birth Month

Born on the 5th, 14th, or 23rd: “22”

Because you were born on a day that reduces down to the number five, your numerological planetary ruler is Mercury, the planet of technology, transportation, storytelling, and cerebral energy. Mercury’s influence can give you a lighthearted, curious energy and fuel your desire to live it up in the moment, no matter where you are in time or in space. That said, Taylor’s buoyant, joyful, youthful track off of 2012’s Red feels right up your alley. While you (and she!) might not still be celebrating being 22, you can probably relate to her proposal to have “breakfast at midnight” and to feel “happy, free, confused, and lonely at the same time.” And as mercurial as you are, you can relate to the duality of a given moment in life being both “miserable and magical.”

Born on the 6th, 15th, or 24th: “Style”

If you came into the world on one of these dates, you were born with the influence of Venus, the planet of romance, pleasure, art, and music. You love a good love song, especially one that’s equal parts sensual, sweet, effervescent, and perhaps even a bit moody, which describes one of the most adored singles off of 1989, which came out in 2014. And as beauty-loving as you are, you probably also can’t resist lyrics like “You got that James Dean daydream look in your eye/ And I got that red lip classic thing that you like/And when we go crashing down, we come back every time/'Cause we never go out of style.” The subtle ‘80s sound—and ‘80s-esque music video—is also a catchy retro vibe you can get behind.

OTHER: The 4 Most Ambitious Birth Months, Per Experts

Born on the 7th, 16th, or 25th: “Karma”

Your mystical, dreamy, even slightly psychic point of view is informed by the fact that your birth date reduces down to seven, a number aligned with Neptune, the planet named for the God of the Sea that oversees illusion and spirituality. You’re an artist, a poet, a dreamer, and someone who likely self-identifies as at least a little bit “woo-woo,” which fits the themes and message of “Karma” off of 2022’s Midnights. Taylor’s assertion that “Karma is a god/Karma is the breeze in my hair on the weekend/Karma's a relaxing thought…Sweet like honey, karma is a cat/Purring in my lap 'cause it loves me” is something you can innately understand and relate to.

Born on the 8th, 17th, or 26th: “Long Live”

Because you were born on a date that reduces down to the number eight, you’re hardworking, industrious, wise, and mature, thanks to this number being associated with Saturn, the taskmaster planet. The last track on 2010’s Speak Now, “Long Live” is a walk down memory lane in which Taylor celebrates highlights from her career and her fans who the song serves as an ode to. While you’re quite self-sufficient and capable of putting your nose to the grindstone to make the professional strides you aspire to make, you also care deeply about your nearest and dearest and will take every chance you can to sing their praises, just as Taylor does in this track.

MORE: Which Film Matches You, Based on Your Birth Month

Born on the 9th, 18th, or 27th: “Red”

If your birth date reduces down to nine, you’re driven, fiery, competitive, and bold, as you were born on a day associated with Mars, the planet of energy, sex, and action. While it may be a bit on the nose (given that Mars is crimson-hued), the title track off of Taylor’s 2012 hit album Red is very much your vibe, as it tells the story of a passionate, fast-and-furious relationship that felt scarlet to the pop star. Opening with the lyrics “loving him is like driving a new Maserati down a dead-end street/Faster than the wind, passionate as sin, ending so suddenly,” the intensity of the affair (widely thought to be with actor Jake Gyllenhaal) described in “Red” is at a level you can imagine experiencing because it’s reflective of how you move through the world.

P.F. Chang's New 'Summer in Tokyo' Menu Turns Dinner Into an Event

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 1:45pm

Dinner isn't just dinner anymore. At least not at P.F. Chang's this summer.

Restaurants have increasingly leaned into experiences that extend beyond the food itself, from tableside cocktails and flaming desserts to over-the-top presentations designed to spark conversation—and maybe even a few social media posts. P.F. Chang's is embracing that trend with its new Summer in Tokyo, a limited-time dining experience inspired by the energy and flavors of Japan's capital city.

😋😋SIGN UP to get delicious recipes, handy kitchen hacks & more in our daily Pop Kitchen newsletter🍳🍔

While the seasonal menu introduces new sushi rolls, Japanese-inspired entrées, cocktails, and hand rolls, the undeniable centerpiece is a dramatic Sushi Boat Experience that arrives tableside surrounded by a billowing cloud of dry ice. It's equal parts dinner and theater, transforming a meal into a moment guests are almost guaranteed to photograph before picking up their chopsticks.

The limited-time menu is available from June 25 through September 15 and was created with sharing in mind, making it a natural fit for birthdays, celebrations, and summer get-togethers. From the theatrical Sushi Boat presentation to new chef-crafted dishes inspired by Tokyo's vibrant food scene, here's what diners can expect from P.F. Chang's newest seasonal experience.

The Sushi Boat Experience Is the Main Event

P.F. Chang's isn't shy about what it wants guests talking about this summer.

The restaurant's new Sushi Boat Experience is unlike anything the chain has offered before. Amidst the dry ice fog, the presentation immediately transforms the whole table into part of the experience. It's the kind of over-the-top presentation that commonly earns social media views—and that's exactly the point.

The launch is also getting a little star power. To introduce the new experience, P.F. Chang's partnered with Captain Sandy Yawn and Aesha Scott, the fan-favorite stars of Bravo's Below Deck Mediterranean, who showcase the Sushi Boat in promotional content celebrating the menu's debut.

View this post on Instagram

Designed for sharing, each Sushi Boat includes chilled edamame, one California Roll, one Shrimp Tempura Roll, and a choice of two additional specialty rolls from Spicy Tuna, Dynamite Shrimp, or Kung Pao. The idea isn't simply to order sushi—it's to create a shared experience that encourages everyone at the table to sample something different.

P.F. Chang's CEO Jim Mazany said in a statement that the goal was to create moments guests "can't wait to talk about, photograph and share," and the dramatic presentation makes it easy to see why.

There's Plenty More Beyond the Boat

While the Sushi Boat steals the spotlight, the rest of the Summer in Tokyo menu gives diners plenty of reasons to linger.

New sushi offerings include California, Spicy Tuna, and Shrimp Tempura hand rolls alongside specialty creations like the Japanese Philly Roll, Tiger Roll, and Smoking Kung Pao Dragon Roll. Guests looking for heartier fare can also order dishes such as NY Prime Strip Steak Tataki, Oolong Chilean Sea Bass, Lobster & Prawn Fried Rice, and Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice.

To round out the experience, P.F. Chang's also introduced seasonal beverages, including the Paper Crane cocktail and Sapporo Lager, giving diners plenty of pairing options whether they're sharing sushi or ordering one of the larger entrées.

Why Experiential Dining Keeps Winning

Courtesy P.F. Chang's

The Summer in Tokyo menu reflects a broader trend happening throughout the restaurant industry. Diners increasingly want meals that feel memorable, whether that's through tableside presentations, interactive dishes, or shareable moments that continue long after the check arrives.

P.F. Chang's built its seasonal promotion around exactly that idea. Rather than simply introducing a handful of new menu items, the chain created an experience designed to spark conversation from the moment the Sushi Boat arrives until the last roll disappears. That philosophy extends beyond the restaurant as well. In addition to the tableside presentation, P.F. Chang's enlisted Below Deck Mediterranean stars Captain Sandy Yawn and Aesha Scott to help bring the campaign to social media, reinforcing the idea that Summer in Tokyo is meant to be shared both around the table and online.

Whether guests come for the dramatic Sushi Boat, the Tokyo-inspired menu, or simply an excuse to gather with friends, the seasonal promotion makes one thing clear: this summer, P.F. Chang's wants dinner to feel like an event—not just another night out.

This 24-ounce water bottle is practicality at its finest. Made of stainless steel with double-walled insulation, this bottle is able to keep beverages cold for up to 24 hours, ensuring that every sip of water is as refreshing as the last. Shoppers confirmed this, and many even noted that this bottle has kept their water cold for up to 36 hours. Reviewers also mentioned that the ice in their water bottle stayed solid for over a day.

Designed for convenience, this bottle is equipped with a clever dual-spout, allowing you to drink out of it two different ways. It offers all the benefits of a classic tumbler, without the exposed straw. Instead, it has a built-in concealed straw that you can sip from the front end of the spout. Alternatively, you can tilt this bottle back and chug it from the open part of the spout.

To keep the spout clean, this bottle is equipped with a push-to-open lid. The lid is leakproof, giving you peace of mind if you toss it in a bag or throw it on the couch. It has a carry loop so you can comfortably dangle it from your hand or finger as you walk around or if your hands are full. The loop also acts as a lock, preventing the lid from opening in your bag.

Now that spring is in full swing and summer isn't far off, refreshing your outdoor space can make a big difference in how it feels day to day. You don’t need to invest in all new furniture to create a cozy setup, either. Sometimes, smaller decorative touches can completely shift the vibe. Solar-powered light-up wind chimes are a great example, adding both soft lighting and a bit of movement to your space.

One especially charming option is the Winzwon Solar Light Outdoor Wind Chimes. Right now, this bestseller is on sale for between $8 and $13 depending on the style. It’s an easy and affordable way to elevate your patio, balcony, or garden without breaking the bank.

The chimes measure about 20 inches long and 5 inches wide, making them noticeable without feeling bulky. They come in 8 different designs, including butterflies, hummingbirds, leaves, dragonflies, and moon and stars, so you can pick one that fits your aesthetic. The cheapest option is currently the chic black wind chime.

They’re designed to be low maintenance and easy to use. Just switch them on once, and they’ll charge during the day using sunlight. At night, they automatically light up, creating a soft glow. Charging typically takes 6 to 8 hours, and they’ll stay illuminated for about the same amount of time after dark.

The materials include a mix of metal and durable plastic built to handle outdoor conditions. They’re waterproof and designed to withstand rain and wind, so you can leave them outside without worrying about damage. They also come with two hook styles, making it easy to hang them from trees or fences.

These wind chimes aren’t just decorative; they also make thoughtful gifts for birthdays, graduations, and any other special occasion. They come packaged in a gift-ready box, and there are even non-light-up versions available specifically geared toward gifting for moms or grandmothers.

Whether you’re updating your own outdoor setup or looking for a small but thoughtful gift, the Winzwon Solar Light Outdoor Wind Chimes are a fun and eye-catching choice. And with Amazon’s current discount bringing the price as low as $10, it’s a great time to pick one up or grab a few for loved ones.

Will Ferrell Credits Molly Shannon for 'Saving' 'SNL' in the 1990s: 'I Hadn't Heard Laughter Like This'

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 1:33pm

Will Ferrell might remain among the most famous cast members in SNL history, but the fan-favorite comedian isn't shying away from acknowledging the talent of fellow '90s castmate Molly Shannon.

Appearing during the dedication ceremony to Shannon's new star on the Walk of Fame, the 58-year-old Ferrell spoke about how important Shannon's comedic capabilities were in securing SNL's, essentially "saving" the show from potential cancelation (via People magazine).

Opening his speech, Ferrell transported audience attendees back to the mid 1990s.

"The date is October 28, 1995," Ferrell said. "It is the fourth episode of the 1995-96 season of SNL. We are a brand new cast. It's only our fourth show. No one knows us, or if we're any good, or if anyone even likes the show anymore."

"It's coming out of a low ebb. 'Saturday Night Dead' were some of the headlines. We kind of don't know," the Anchorman star continued. "We're just out there throwing things up to see what's going to happen. But that night, the host is Gabriel Byrne. And that's the first time we get to see Mary Katherine Gallagher."

As longtime viewers are sure to remember, Mary Katherine Gallagher was Shannon's infamously off-beat teenager: a shy, accident-prone, cringe-inducing young woman with dreams of becoming a "superstar" in spite of her socially awkward personality.

"As I was changing, I'm hearing Molly perform the character and I'm hearing, and I'm feeling the stands shake with laughter," Ferrell said. "To the point where I thought, 'Oh my God, I haven't heard laughter like this so far, in the three shows we've done.' And it hit me. It was such an emotional moment because I remember, thinking, 'Oh. We're going to be okay.' That Molly has saved us, like, at least we have one funny character that will drive."

"The character was funny, was real. It was dark in moments. It was an outsider who dreamed, which I think is what you bring to so much of your work," the actor continued, turning his attention to Shannon. "It was in that moment, I'll never forget, but it literally was a catalyst for us to continue on. And it was a catalyst for you, and you've gone on to have and continue to have the most amazing career and everything you do."
