'Harry Potter' Inspired This Grammy-Winning Country Star to Create Music

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 11:39pm

What's your favorite Harry Potter book out of the bunch? Or how about your favorite movie out of all the big-screen adaptations?

When it comes to "most inspiring" of the bunch, Shaboozey — who rose to fame with his Grammy-nominated "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" — has to go with the one that started them all.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, which actually helped fuel Shaboozey's musical career back in the day.

At least, that's what the red-hot country singer, 31, just revealed in a podcast interview with Bobby Bones on his Netflix podcast show.

"I watched that movie and read that book, and I was just like, 'Man,'" Shaboozey said in the recent episode of The BobbyCast. "I just think there's something fascinating about Harry's life to a kid, probably like us, that's just like — you feel really ordinary, you know? And you're kind of not looked at as much..."

He continues, "And you kind of attach yourself to a story like that, where a kid like me — who really doesn't feel like they have much going on or much of a talent or much of a story, or feels like they want to get out of the world they're in — meets or watches something like [Harry Potter]. And you're like, 'Oh no, like, I do feel extraordinary.'"

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/xWH3EBQPZGg

With eight nods, Shaboozey finally won Grammy gold in the Best Country Duo/Group Performance category for his song "Amen" with Jelly Roll — who has certainly been in the news of late.

Sure, Jelly Roll's own country music career has still been trucking along, with a new single out called "Hands Up" while also being featured on the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Album. But all eyes have been on his personal life ever since he filed for divorce from Bunnie Xo after 10 years of marriage. Find out more here.

1962 Nashville Recording That Sparked a Country Classic Still Covered Decades Later

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 11:20pm

On June 27, 1962, a fast-talking travel song made its way into a Nashville studio and set itself on a path to becoming one of country music’s most enduring curiosities.

That day at RCA Studio B in Nashville, Hank Snow recorded "I’ve Been Everywhere," a whirlwind of place names delivered at breakneck speed and wrapped in classic country charm.

It was the kind of song that didn’t just tell a story, but raced through one instead.

Originally written in 1959 by Australian country singerGeoff Mack, the song first gained traction overseas.

Lucky Starr helped turn it into a hit in 1962, giving it early momentum before it ever reached the American country mainstream.

But it was Snow’s version that helped anchor it in the U.S. country music landscape, giving the song a broader audience and a longer life than anyone likely expected at the time.

What makes "I’ve Been Everywhere" stand out isn’t just its novelty. It’s the sheer ambition of it.

The lyrics stack city after city, name after name, creating a dizzying snapshot of travel and movement that feels almost ahead of its time. Long before playlists or digital maps, it was a song built around the idea of constant motion and restless energy.

And like many great country standards, it didn’t stay locked in one version for long.

Over the years, "I’ve Been Everywhere" became something of a rite of passage for artists across genres.

Lynn Anderson brought her own spin to it.

Asleep at the Wheel kept its Western swing spirit alive.

Johnny Cash, never one to shy away from a good storytelling challenge, also took his turn with the track, adding his unmistakable voice to its growing legacy.

Part of the song’s charm is how adaptable it is. No matter who performs it, it always feels like a journey, just slightly different depending on who’s holding the microphone.

1950 Disney Film, Released During a Difficult Era, Became a Lasting Classic

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 11:00pm

When Disney released Cinderella in 1950, the studio was taking a major gamble.

After years of financial struggles during and after World War II, Walt Disney Productions needed a hit. What it got was something much bigger: a film that would become one of the most beloved animated classics of all time.

Based on the centuries-old fairy tale, Cinderella follows a young woman forced to live under the thumb of her cruel stepmother and stepsisters before a little magic (and a glass slipper) changes her life forever. Along the way, audiences met memorable characters including Cinderella, Prince Charming, the Fairy Godmother, Jaq and Gus, and, of course, Lucifer the cat.

The film quickly became a box-office success and helped restore Disney's financial footing at a critical moment in the company's history. It was the studio's first full-length animated feature released after a lengthy gap caused by the war years, and its success paved the way for future classics that would define Disney's next era.

But Cinderella's legacy extends far beyond its original release.

Over the decades, the film has been reintroduced to audiences through theatrical reissues, home video releases, streaming platforms, and special anniversary editions.

One of the most recent came in 2019, when Disney released the film as part of its Signature Collection, giving a new generation the chance to experience the story that captivated audiences nearly 70 years earlier.

The movie's influence can still be seen across popular culture today.

Songs like "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes" remain instantly recognizable, while the image of Cinderella's castle has become one of the most enduring symbols associated with Disney itself.

The franchise also expanded well beyond the original film, inspiring sequels, television adaptations, merchandise, theme park attractions, and Disney's live-action Cinderella remake.

Perhaps what's most remarkable is how little the story's appeal has changed. While animation technology has evolved dramatically since 1950, audiences continue to connect with Cinderella's journey of perseverance, hope, and transformation.

More than seven decades after its debut, Cinderella remains one of Disney's defining films, and a reminder that some fairy tales never go out of style.

Penélope Cruz Confesses to a Strange Hobby That Leaves Her Co-Stars Shocked

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 10:55pm

PenélopeCruz revealed that she has a bizarre hobby.

Well, to her “it's normal,” but others are “shocked” when she tells them.

The actress and her co-stars, OliviaWilde and SethRogen, of the upcoming film The Invite participated in a recent interview with The New Yorker

“When I was a little girl, I was always playing pretending to be a doctor,” Cruz shared.

She would “inject” her “dolls” with “insulin needles from my grandmother.” Adding “that was the game for me.”

“Maybe it's weird, I don't know,” she admitted.

Cruz’s love of medical knowledge has followed her into adulthood.

“For the last 12 years, I study medicine every night of my life,” she said.

“You're an amateur doctor,” Rogen joked. While Wilde asked “You're studying to be a doctor?”

“No, no, no, no, no, it's my hobby,” Cruz confirmed.

The actress shared she reads “books that are this thick about the endocrine system and stuff like that makes me so happy, so happy, and every night probably, I don't know, five, six days a week for the last 12 years, I've been reading that for hours every night. And I love it. And I cannot explain why I love it.”

Wilde and Rogen shared their unique hobbies as well.

“It's not that obscure, I love miniatures. I'm a miniac,” Wilde said.

The film’s star and director told her co-stars that she has a miniature version of the original Seinfeld set.

While Rogen said "I don't have that many weird hobbies,” but that he does enjoy pottery.

The Invite takes place during a dinner party that goes wrong after a couple invite their strange neighbours. The movie is an adaptation of the 2020 Spanish-language film The People Upstairs.

The Invite has a limited theatrical release starting June 26 and opens nationwide July 10.

Indie Studio A24 Defends Controversial Google AI Collab

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 9:18pm

Fans are criticizing the independent entertainment and production company A24 after it announced a $75 million research partnership with DeepMind, Google's AI lab.

The company behind hit films such as MartySupreme, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Moonlight, Uncut Gems, and Midsommar is known for its unique storytelling and marketing.

“This is a research partnership,” Sophia Shin, A24 communications rep, told WIRED in an email. “We're working side-by-side with DeepMind's researchers to learn, iterate, and build, having an active hand in shaping new tools and workflows.”

A24 announced the collaboration on Monday. Through the deal, the production company will gain access to DeepMind’s research and tools.

“Our relationship with our audience is something we don't take for granted,” Shin added. “This partnership exists because we want to dictate what tools get built for artists, and so they have a voice in shaping them rather than having tools handed to them. We'd rather have a seat at the table than on the sidelines.”

The company is known for its groupie-like fans. Enthusiasts proudly sport merch with A24 or their films displayed.

The deal has not gone over well with their audience. In a recent Instagram post promoting the studio’s upcoming film, The Invite, users flooded the comment section with disappointment.

“Congratulations A24. You lost the support of a generation and movement that will only continue to grow.” one user wrote. Another commented, “Pull the deal with Google and all will be forgiven. Listen to your audience, we don’t want AI.”

“Truth is we don't necessarily love any of the current AI outputs onscreen in Hollywood,” Shin shared. “I don't even know if ultimately we'd create tech on that front. This partnership is about learning and helping pain points in workflows behind the scenes more than anything else.”

Google will not be able to access A24’s content library or data, and filmmakers are not required to use AI tools.

Amazon's $24 Linen Tripod Table Lamp Is the 'Cutest Little Lamp Ever' and Comes in 8 Styles

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 9:15pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

If you're after cozy, low-key accent lighting, a small table lamp is one of the easiest upgrades you can make. Right now, Amazon has a last-minute Prime Day deal on a mini tripod lamp that could pass for a designer piece. The compact design and three-legged base give it a sturdy, balanced feel that’s less likely to tip over, making it especially practical for a crowded nightstand or a kid’s room.

The Edishine Tripod Table Lamp is currently marked down to as low as $24 (originally $35), and it comes in eight different styles including bohemian, cottage, vintage, and art deco. Prices vary slightly depending on style, but you won’t pay more than $27 no matter what. Shoppers were smitten with the lamp in reviews, with one calling it “the cutest little lamp I’ve ever seen in my entire life.”

Shop at Amazon

Measuring around 14 inches tall, the lamp fits easily on a nightstand, desk, or small side table. It gives off a gentle, cozy light that feels perfect for winding down at night or adding a little warmth to a quiet corner.

It has a wooden tripod base and linen shade, which softens the brightness and gives it a high-end feel, according to Amazon customers. It also works well as reading light or an accent light in nurseries or compact living spaces where overhead lighting feels too strong. One shopper said it has an "expensive look at a reasonable price," while another buyer said it looks like something that would cost “$200 or more.”

The cord is nearly 65 inches long, so you have some flexibility on where you can place it. This extra reach makes it easier to position the lamp without having it right next to an outlet.

Shoppers were fans of its compact size and the amount of light it gives. "Exactly what I needed for my coffee stand," one wrote. "Not too bright and doesn't take up a ton of space." Another called it "really great for a small area that needs a little light."

Assembly is straightforward, with the tripod base, shade, and bulb coming together in just a few minutes. It includes an inline on/off switch and works with standard E26 bulbs. Bulbs are not included.

Beloved Metal Band Announces New Album 21 Years After Forming

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 9:12pm

Five Finger Death Punch, the heavy metal and hard rock band, is proving that it has no plans to slow down.

Fronted by Ivan Moody on lead vocals, Chris Kael on bass, Charlie Engen on drums, Andy James on guitar and guitarist and co-founder Zoltan Bathory, the band announced the release of a new album.

In an Instagram update, the band teased fans with a glimpse of its 10th studio album, Legacy.

The hard rock veterans are scheduled to release it digitally on July 31, while physical copies on vinyl, CDs and cassettes will arrive on Sept. 18.

Apart from announcing the soon-to-be-released album, Five Finger Death Punch also surprised fans with the release of a brand-new song.

The newly unveiled track, "De Oppresso Liber," serves as the band's second single, following "Eye Of The Storm," the lead single from its highly anticipated 10th studio album.

Following the announcement, Bathory shared the inspiration behind the record and the journey the band experienced while creating it.

View this post on Instagram

“Every album is a snapshot of who we were at that particular moment in time, and Legacy is exactly what the title suggests,” he said, as cited by Consequence. “It’s a reflection on the journey, the lessons, the victories, the struggles, and everything we’ve experienced over the last two decades. What makes that journey meaningful is that we didn’t make it alone. We traveled this road alongside millions of fans around the world and somehow became part of each other’s lives. That’s an incredible thing to reflect on twenty years later.”

As for the vocalist, Moody expressed how “proud” the band is to have created a record that highlights its “milestone” and the achievements it has captured.

“At the same time, Legacy isn’t about looking backward. 20 years is a milestone, not a destination,” he added. “We’re incredibly proud of this record because it captures everything people love about Five Finger Death Punch while also pointing toward where we’re headed next. Our philosophy has always been that this journey doesn’t come with a self-imposed ceiling. Every goal we’ve reached simply revealed another horizon beyond it. We never believed the sky was the limit; if anything, it’s where the true journey begins. Here’s to our shared legacy."

The 10th studio album comes 21 years after Five Finger Death Punch was formed.

Bathory created the group in 2005 in Las Vegas, Nevada, after leaving his previous band, U.P.O. He was joined by former Motograter vocalist Ivan Moody and W.A.S.P. drummer Jeremy Spencer.

The band released its debut album, The Way of the Fist, in 2007 and has remained a dominant force in the metal scene ever since.

Dating back to 1994, the denim shirt was styled as a dress by the American socialite, 45. And new data released on Friday, June 26 from Classic Football Shirts reveals that Hilton apparently picked the most in-demand vintage U.S. soccer shirt of the summer.

The recent study by Classic Football Shirts reveals that U.S. Google searches for "blokette" — the viral fashion trend of pairing masculine sportswear with hyper-feminine delicate clothing — have risen 4,950% in the past year alone, according to the company's recent news release, signaling that the vintage soccer jersey this summer is as much a fashion statement as a fan one.

In 1994, the U.S. hosted that summer's World Cup on home soil, reaching the Round of 16 — but it's what the team wore that’s trending again. The standout is the away shirt: a faux-denim print with oversized distressed white stars across a washed indigo base, finished with red trim at the collar and sleeves.

The denim design is so iconic that adidas, despite no longer holding the U.S. Soccer contract, reissued it in March 2026 as a full lifestyle collection: jersey, track jacket, shorts, cap and a special-edition denim Samba. The campaign featured 1994 squad members Alexi Lalas and Cobi Jones alongside musician Lil Dre — proof of the shirt's multigenerational appeal.

And here's a bit of styling advice: The deep indigo colorway works as an alternative to a classic denim jacket, and the oversized fit lends itself perfectly to the blokette formula. Think white midi skirt, kitten heels, lots of jewelry, and the shirt knotted at the waist.

This Might Be the Most Underrated Piece of Tupperware in the Brand's 80-Year History, But Real Ones 'Love It'

When you think of Tupperware, chances are the classics come to mind first. Maybe it's those colorful nesting bowls with the matching lids, the pantry canisters that seemed to live on every kitchen counter, or those iconic pitchers that somehow made Kool-Aid taste better. For a brand that's been around for more than 80 years, Tupperware has earned its place in the kitchen hall of fame.

But every now and then, you stumble across a Tupperware item that makes you wonder, "Why haven't I known about this all along?" The brand has plenty of under-the-radar gems that don't get nearly as much attention as the classics, even though they're just as practical.

Flavor Keeper with Lift-Out Tray, $28 (originally $36) at Tupperware

Tupperware

Shop It!

The ultimate example of this is the Tupperware Flavor Keeper. Instead of trying to cram a rotisserie chicken into an awkward container or wrapping oversized leftovers in a mountain of plastic wrap, this storage container is designed with larger foods in mind. It's one of those surprisingly clever kitchen helpers that solves a problem you didn't even realize had such an easy solution.

What might be the most ingenious aspect of this piece is that it comes with a lift-out serving tray that makes it easy to get its contents out. This is perfect for that aforementioned rotisserie chicken, a ham, roast or anything else that's a little unwieldy in the fridge. And, of course, there's a matching lid to keep it covered while being stored.

Tupperware fans love that any juices from a chicken or ham can drain out underneath, so the meat doesn't sit in them while it's stored.

"Love it," says a fan in the reviews section. "My Mom had one and it worked so good. It's versatile and can be used with any meat."

Tupperware turned 80 this year, so it's a fun time to revisit its many products, especially the ones in those amazing retro colors. The Flavor Keeper is currently on sale at Tupperware.com for $28, which is 22 percent off its regular price of $36, so it's a good time to grab one at a discount. Does it come in a nostalgic bright orange? No, but that "Mysterious Green" colorway, as Tupperware calls it, is still pretty sweet.

3 Films Ranked Among the Greatest of All Time Are Finally Coming Together in One Massive Collection

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 8:58pm

Three films ranked among the greatest movies ever made are finally coming together in a single collector's edition.

Criterion Collection has announced The Complete Kubrick, an unprecedented 30-disc 4K UHD and Blu-ray box set arriving Oct. 20 that brings together all 13 of legendary director Stanley Kubrick's feature films and three early short films for the first time.

The collection includes three films recognized by the American Film Institute among the 100 greatest American movies ever made: 2001: A Space Odyssey at No. 22, Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb at No. 26 and A Clockwork Orange at No. 46.

The expansive set traces Kubrick's remarkable career from his earliest independent films through some of the most influential movies in cinema history. Along with newly restored 4K presentations, the collection includes each film's original soundtrack alongside remastered 5.1 surround sound mixes.

Everything Included in Criterion's Complete Stanley Kubrick Collection

Beyond the films themselves, The Complete Kubrick features more than 25 hours of interviews, documentaries and behind-the-scenes materials, along with deluxe packaging illustrated with rare photographs, artwork and documents annotated by Kubrick himself. The entire collection is housed in a display-worthy box inspired by the director's legendary personal archive.

Criterion described Kubrick as "a titan of cinema" whose work reshaped popular filmmaking across multiple genres, from war films and historical epics to science fiction, horror, political satire and psychological drama.

The announcement also comes as Barnes & Noble's popular annual Criterion Collection sale gets underway. While The Complete Kubrick carries a $599.99 list price, Barnes & Noble is currently offering the box set for preorder at $419.99 as part of its month-long Criterion promotion.

That sale, which runs through July 26, offers 50 percent off many Criterion releases and has become one of the retailer's most anticipated annual events for movie collectors.

The Complete Kubrick will be released on Oct. 20.

The Complete Kubrick Includes:
  • Fear and Desire (1953)
  • Killer's Kiss (1955)

A Retiree's Practical Guide to Planning and Paying for That Once-in-a-Lifetime Vacation

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 8:12pm

It’s finally here. You’ve worked your last day, and your retirement is stretched ahead of you. Out of all the plans you’ve made, the biggest one on your bucket list is a once-in-a-lifetime trip. It’s something you’ve dreamt about for years, but now that you finally have the time, you don’t know how to plan or pay for it. That’s ok. We’re going to break it all down for you, so you’ll be there before you know it.

Related: 20 Inspiring Ideas to Make the Most of Your Retirement Bucket List

Dream Big, Then Plan The Details

This is where the dream needs to get specific. Sure, you may want to eat your way across Europe, but what does that actually look like? This is the stage where you make specific plans. Taking a chocolate tempering class in Switzerland before visiting a French pastry shop that creates the best croissants, followed by a pasta-making class in Italy. Does having communal paella in Spain make the list, or will you go deep-sea fishing in Greece before heading to one of the islands to grill what you caught?

You need to figure out the specific plans of your journey, including travel days, rest days, activities, accommodations, and how you’ll get around. Having the specifics locked down is the essential first step, as we learned from Bayntree Wealth Advisors. Once you can see the big picture, complete with the details, you can begin to plan the budget.

Figure Out The Tab

Now that you have your itinerary, it’s time to begin pricing it out. If your timing is flexible, try shopping around travel websites or setting alerts to find the best prices on flights and accommodations. Going to a popular destination during the off-season (or slightly before or after the regular season) may net you great discounts while still allowing you to see the sights.

Mutual of Omaha has a great list of expenses to plan for when creating your travel budget. They include:

  • Travel expenses like airfare, passports, and lodging
  • Activity costs
  • Transportation
  • Healthcare while abroad
  • Overseas phone plans
  • Currency exchange
  • A buffer amount

This last line item, the buffer amount, is essential because there are always unexpected issues that arise while traveling. Bankrate says you should include a 10%-15% buffer for unexpected expenses.

Save Strategically

If you don’t have the funds to immediately take your dream vacation, that doesn’t mean it’s off the table. Saving for this adventure will look a lot like it did when you were still working. Maybe you cut some out of your monthly fun budget or hold off on replacing unnecessary items. You could even take a small part-time job to supplement your income, putting your paychecks directly into your travel budget.

Don’t forget to optimize your money. Sign up for a credit card that gives you travel rewards points. If you put all your monthly spending on the card, then pay it off at the end of the month, you’ll rack up free flights, hotels, and cars quickly. The key is to spend only what you would anyway, but get rewarded for it.

Plan For Your Needs

If you have mobility needs or follow a prescribed diet, you’ll have to take that into account when planning. People with Celiac Disease will have to do some extra planning to find safe food in Japan. Anyone with medical issues, like arthritis, that act up in the cold, will need some extra self-care when wandering around Germany’s Christmas Markets.

Make sure to include your needs in your plans. Medicare doesn’t actually cover you abroad, so you’ll want to price out travel insurance. Look into supplemental travel medical insurance or a Medigap plan that covers foreign emergencies. This is supposed to be the trip of a lifetime, and you don’t want a medical need to ruin it or cut it short.

As you start planning, remember that this is your dream and it deserves the time and effort it takes to make it a reality. When you write everything down and account for the details, you’re setting yourself up for an amazing time.

Now go. Identify your dream and make it happen. You’ll never regret taking that trip.

Nickelodeon Child Star Josh Peck Reveals How Much Money He Made on ‘Drake & Josh,' and Fans Are Divided

Fri, 06/26/2026 - 8:04pm

Josh Peckrecently opened up to Haley Sacks on her podcast ‘Financial Tea with Mrs. Dow Jones,’ revealing that he made roughly $125,000 per year as a star of the tween comedy Drake & Josh

Peck explained his financial past, saying, “I came from a lot of financial insecurity growing up. I had a single mom, as an only child, and we sort of vacillated between being lower-middle-class and being broke. But she worked in sales, so sometimes we had a great year, and I was getting like a new pair of Jordans, and sometimes I was like calling my grandma to help us pay for dinner because we had like $0.”

The former Nickelodeon child actor continued, “And when I started working, on Drake & Josh specifically, and I’ve talked about this, because when I was writing my book, I wasn’t very transparent with it, the financials in my book…We started out making $3,000 an episode on The Amanda Show, and then by the time we finished Drake & Josh, so that was like 60 episodes total for the whole show, the average rate per episode was about $15,000.”

According to Peck, “So over four years we ended up making about $900,000. But I think we probably between agent, manager, and taxes, we cleared half of that.”

“Really, we were making about $125,000 a year.” Even though that may seem like a lot for a teenager, Peck did note, “People always will say, compared to so many other tougher jobs, like who are you to say anything.”

He added, “and I go, ‘I’m not.’ People always assume that it’s so much more, and why would you ever have to work again? But of course, if you made the salary of a dentist or something like that, you couldn’t just stop working after four years.” Peck is correct; people do have plenty to say. And of course, it’s all on social media.

In a recent Reddit thread, one commenter wrote, “Way better than I get in four years of busting my hump daily in a warehouse,” and another replied (with more than just a subtle hint of sarcasm), “Oh nooo he was a kid making 200k a year. Sounds terrible.”

Another critic posted a more in-depth look at Josh’s income: “He said he took home around $500,000 over four years, while he was roughly 16 to 20 years old. Objectively speaking, that’s an extraordinary income for someone that age with limited education and no hard skills. Period.”

Even though critics panned Peck’s interview, some had a different view. One fan wrote, “The point is that they didn't make life-changing ‘set for life, money after four years” and another chimed in, posting, “The point stands. You can’t retire on that. Not even close.”
