Nobel Prize-Winning Songwriter Just Named America's Most Essential Musical Artist
Bob Dylan has added another remarkable distinction to one of the most celebrated careers in music history.
Ahead of America's 250th birthday in 2026, CBS News Sunday Morning asked nearly 90 prominent Americans to identify the songs they believe best capture the American spirit. The result is Sunday Morning's Essential American Songbook, an interactive collection of 250 songs spanning genres and generations. While contributors nominated works by everyone from Louis Armstrong and Woody Guthrie to Aretha Franklin and Simon & Garfunkel, Dylan emerged as the project's most-cited artist.
Overall, Dylan received 16 artist nominations, finishing ahead of Ray Charles with 13 and Aretha with 12. His 1963 classic "Blowin' in the Wind" also tied as one of the survey's most-selected individual songs, earning seven votes alongside Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come," Charles' "America the Beautiful" and Aretha's "Respect." Only Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land" received more support, with eight selections.
The list of people who chose "Blowin' in the Wind" underscores the song's remarkable reach. Among those who selected the folk anthem were bestselling author Stephen King, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, novelist Erik Larson, journalist James Fallows, opera star Renée Fleming and comedy duo Cheech & Chong.
Viewers will get a closer look at the project during a special edition of CBS News Sunday Morning, airing Sunday, June 28, and anchored by veteran journalist Jane Pauley. Along with Tracy Smith's report on the creation of the Essential American Songbook, the broadcast will feature performances by James Taylor, Sara Bareilles andJon Batiste, each performing one of the songs selected for the collection. The special will also stream on Paramount+.
Dylan's strong showing was also notable because it wasn't driven by a single song alone. As CBS News Sunday Morning contributor Bill Flanagan explained in an accompanying essay, support for Dylan was spread across multiple compositions, with "Blowin' in the Wind" ultimately receiving the most selections. That breadth of recognition helped Dylan finish as the survey's most-cited artist overall.
Released in 1963 on The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, "Blowin' in the Wind" quickly became one of the defining songs of the folk revival. Its simple questions about war, freedom and human dignity transformed it into an anthem of the Civil Rights Movement, while artists ranging from Peter, Paul and Mary to Stevie Wonder have recorded their own versions over the decades.
The project itself was created to mark the nation's semiquincentennial, with CBS News Sunday Morning inviting musicians, writers, historians, business leaders, journalists and public figures to each nominate three American songs they felt belonged in the country's musical canon. Contributors included Joan Baez, Cyndi Lauper, Jeff Bridges, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, David Byrne, Ken Burns, Mark Cuban and many others.
Flanagan argues that American music has always been defined by the blending of cultures and traditions, writing that songs "travel like the wind." That philosophy is reflected throughout the final collection, which ranges from Broadway standards and jazz classics to country, rock, gospel, hip-hop and folk.
The survey also produced a few surprises. Paul Simon's "American Tune" earned six votes and his hit song with Art Garfunkel "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and Judy Garland's "Over the Rainbow" each received five. The contributors overwhelmingly favored music from the 1960s and 1970s, with those two decades accounting for nearly 200 of the 250 selected songs.
This is just the latest in a long list of honors Dylan has received. He was part of the 1997 Kennedy Center Honors, was given a special citation Pulitzer Prize in 2008, earned the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2012 and was awarded the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature for creating "new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition."
More than 60 years after he first asked how many roads a man must walk down, Dylan's music continues to resonate across generations. In a project designed to identify the songs that best define America, no artist was cited more often.

That's a jaw-dropping laundry list. Clearly, Franklin was a busy, versatile and important figure, and now, Funko is offering fans of the brand the opportunity to bring a Pop! version of this founding father home. The 1770 Pop! showcases Franklin's well-known, classic look, including his very own bifocals, and will be a unique, singular collectible for one lucky person.

James Van Der Beek 'Appeared Buoyant and Happy' While Battling Cancer on Set of 'Elle'
James Van Der Beek's last role will be one to remember.
Speaking at the premiere of the Prime TV show, Elle, on Tuesday, which will officially be out on July 1, the show's co-runner, Caroline Dries, fondly remembered working with the late actor in footage shared by The Wrap.
"James told me that acting allowed him to be someone and forget the pain he was in, but even off camera, James appeared to be buoyant and happy," she said of the actor who died of cancer in February. "He brought his daughters to set. He sat with us on plastic folding chairs in video village, he made us laugh. He told us stories, and he showed us nothing but kindness and gratitude toward the crew."
The Dawson's Creek icon played mayoral hopeful Dean Wilson in the series, which also stars Lexi Minetree as Elle Woods, and June Diane Raphael and Tom Everett Scott as her parents.
"This would be James' last role," Dries continued. "Our cast gave him the space to feel that joy. Our cast is very special."
Van Der Beek's wife Kimberly, whom he shared six children with, also reposted Dries kind words to her Instagram stories on Thursday and shared that "Emilia and Annabel had the pleasure of separately being on set with him. They treated the kiddos beautifully and he was so proud of this role...especially because his daughters were so looking forward to watching it"

The heartfelt speech from Dries comes days after Kimberly also shared a tribute to him this past Sunday on Father's Day.
“Missing you so much and thinking of how magnificent you were in every single way today,” she wrote. “And somehow, from the other side? You continue to parent. You’re a marvel.”
The show, which is executive produced by Reese Witherspoon, who originated the iconic character of Elle Woods in 2001, was one of the many celebrities to share a heartfelt to tribute to Van Der Beek after his death.
"Devastated to hear about James Van Der Beek," she wrote on social media. "What an extraordinary, talented man who also showed great kindness and grace in every action. Praying all the angels watch over his family during this difficult time."

Katie Couric Says She Was Pushed Out of a High-Profile Celeb Interview She Pitched
Katie Couric is looking back at one of the assignments that got away.
During the Wednesday, June 24 episode of Call Her Daddy, Couric told hostAlex Cooperthat she once pitched a 60 Minutes profile on Lady Gagabefore the singer became an even bigger cultural force.
According to a report by People, Couric said she thought Gaga could be "the next Madonna" and believed that CBS should do a profile on her.
Couric said the idea was initially rejected. She recalled a producer telling her the response was, "It's not for us."

Couric said the show later became interested in pursuing Gaga after the singer's public profile had grown.
But when Couric checked the CBS assignment board, she said she saw the story listed with Anderson Cooper instead.
"And I see Lady Gaga, Anderson Cooper," Couric recalled on Call Her Daddy.
Couric said the moment frustrated her because she had first brought the idea to the show.
"It made me crazy," she said.
CBS later aired Cooper's 60 Minutes interview with Gaga on Feb. 13, 2011. The profile was taped in London, Milan and New York while Gaga was on tour.
What She Said Happened With Hillary ClintonCouric said on the podcast that the Gaga interview was not the only assignment where she felt pushed aside.
She recalled being told she would do a profile of Hillary Clinton, who was secretary of state at the time, before learning that Scott Pelley's team had contacted the State Department about the same story.
Couric said the part that bothered her most was not just the reassignment, but how she found out.
She described it as happening "behind my back."

'The Bear' Cast Reveals Their Favorite Scenes — Including One Emmy-Winning Moment That Nearly Ruined the Set (Exclusive)
After five years, 48 episodes, and countless uses of the f-word, The Bear has at last come to a close. Through the five-season series, there's been a lot to, for lack of a better term, chew on. We've seen Carmy (Jeremy Allen White), Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and so many other people not only reinvent the Beef family restaurant into a fine dining establishment, but reinvent themselves as well.
If you were to ask fans of The Bear about their favorite scene from the series, you would get a veritable buffet of answers. Carmy's seven-minute monologue at Al-Anon in the Season 1 finale, when he finally reveals his complicated relationship with his brother? Marcus (Lionel Boyce) having a heart-to-heart with Luca (Will Poulter) in Copenhagen about sports and the meaning of success? Richie belting out Taylor Swift in the car, having finally discovered his purpose in life? The menu is limitless.
So, when Parade had the chance to talk with some of the cast members of the Emmy-winning series, we had to ask what their favorite scenes were to film. And they provided some five-star options.
Moss-Bachrach has plenty of scenes he could pick from, considering the massive metamorphosis Richie has undergone over the course of the series. But, surprisingly, the 49-year-old says the scene that stands out is one of the first.
"The first thing I can think about is making that first episode and meeting everybody," he says. "Seeing what the culture of the show is going to be like and seeing who my scene partners were going to be. Just feeling that initial alchemy and that initial camaraderie was so seductive and inspiring to me. I just felt like I had been invited to a really special party."
"Shooting that pilot was so much fun, man," agrees Liza Colón-Zayas. But the Emmy winner has some different takes for her own favorite scene.
"I love me and Sydney on the street, when I hoist her up into the air," she answers, referring to a moment from the Season 2 premiere. The two clearly got off on the wrong foot, with Tina even sabotaging the newbie, who she felt was threatening her position. But she grew to respect and eventually learn from her. And so, when Sydney asks her to be her sous chef in the reimagined concept of The Bear, she was flying high.
The friendship and camaraderie between Tina and Sydney have extended off-screen as well as The Bear goes along. Edebiri stepped behind the camera for the first time to direct "Napkins," a Season 3 episode that tells Tina's origin story as to how she got to The Beef. Unsurprisingly, Colón-Zayas shouts it out as a highlight for her as well. Though, always the team player, she quickly remarks how much she likes to watch her fellow actors work.

Boyce also picks out a moment from the show's beginning, albeit from the finale rather than the premiere.
"I remember the family meal," he recalls about the Season 1 ending, when the staff enjoys a Berzatto family spaghetti meal. "It was the first time we had this camaraderie."
Abby Elliott echoes Boyce's answer, bringing up the various family meals throughout the series. And she reveals a key tidbit about how show creator Christopher Storer makes them sound so natural.
"It's not scripted," the woman behind Sugar says. "We're just sitting, eating, looking at each other, and it's simple. And Chris will just say, 'Abby, you're eating Tina's food, and it's delicious. Look at Tina, and let her know that you know. And so it's like all these very small moments, and it comes together just beautifully."
Elliott also, of course, made mention of Sugar's standout episode, "Ice Chips." With her character pregnant since Season 2 (something she says Storer wrote into the show based on her real-life pregnancy), she goes into labor alone, with everyone heads-down at the restaurant and not responding to her calls. And so she resorts to perhaps the worst person she can use as her emergency contact: Her mother, Donna (Jamie Lee Curtis). "Ice Chips" serves to warm their relationship, though, helping build the Berzatto matriarch's season-long path of recovery and redemption.

"I loved the challenge of the birth episode," she says of her performance, which earned her an Emmy nomination. "I will always go back to having that really intense, real moment with Jamie Lee Curtis. I don't think I'll ever get over it."
Matty Matheson, too, has a personal highlight from a family dinner, also involving the Oscar winner. This one, however, is much less pleasant. The man behind Neil Fak was one of the many in attendance for a night to remember in Season 2's "Fishes." The feature-length installment is packed to the nines with star talent, from Bob Odenkirk to Sarah Paulson to John Mulaney. And it all culminates in an incredibly tense scene around the dinner table, as tense words are exchanged, forks start flying, tables are flipped, and cars are driven into houses.
"[I loved] being at the table during 'Fishes,'" Matheson answers. With [Jon] Bernthal, there are all these rumors, either he wasn't supposed to flip the table, or he was supposed to flip the table. But I'm sitting next to him, and he [approaches] Duccio, our first A.D. And he's like, 'Hey, Duccio, I'm gonna flip the table.' And Duccio's just like, 'Please don't do that. This is all real glass. We'll have to reset, and there's wine and everything. Please don't do that. Let's do a couple more takes, and then we'll put like breakables out, and we'll do some stuff.' And Bernthal was like, 'Okay, no problem, man.' Next take was just that take."
A nightmare for production, true. But, to be fair to Bernthal, that episode did win him an Emmy the very next year. With The Bear set to conclude tonight, we shall see if there's anything in Season 5 to turn (or flip) the tables, giving new options to challenge some of those iconic moments.

Jenny Mollen Addresses the ‘Toxic’ Post Parenting Backlash — No Apology, But the Truth Is More Complicated Than You Think
The backlash against Jenny Mollen isn’t over. The mom of two (she shares 12-year-old Sid and eight-year-old Lazlo with ex, actor Jason Biggs) was slammed by critics after she posted photos in May on Instagram of herself and her older son embracing in bed, with the caption, “Your eldest son will be the most toxic man you ever date.”
Now, one month after her initial post, Mollen is speaking out again. And no, she isn’t apologizing.
While the caption was later removed, enough people saw it to spark a major controversy. Last week, Mollen edited the post, adding her statement again and sharing, “This was the original caption. And I stand by it.”
Mollen spoke with Amanda Hirsch on her “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast earlier this week, opening up about the post, the controversy, the backlash, and her views on motherhood. Mollen restates her Instagram comment for Hirsch, adding, “Which is true.” She goes on to say, “And I can explain what that means.”
So what exactly does “Your eldest son will be the most toxic man you ever date” mean? Mollen tells Hirsch, “It’s like this is the joke I’ve been making forever. Like, I’m in this dysfunctional relationship with a guy who’s like, you know, can you hold my head while I like, vomit into the toilet? Can you give me a full-body massage before bed? Can you, you know, be a dear and put more ice in my water bottle? Like this is the treatment.”
Hirsch does point out, “This is part of your humor,” and asks Mollen what she thinks made people take her post the wrong way.
“I think they thought maybe the hug looked lascivious. I’m not sure. I don’t think they liked the caption, ‘toxic.’ I think toxic got in some sort of algorithm search, and you’re probably like reading about being abused and then you see this woman embracing her son, and they’re just like what the f***? You know, they couldn’t handle it. It threw them over the edge,” said Mollen.
She continued, “And by the way, if you knew my son, he’s really the predator on me. He’s the one who’s all over me. I’ve been like trying to lock him out of the bathroom for like the last 12 years…He just wants my undivided.”
Mollen also explains her view on the caption in light of her recent split with Biggs: “I think if I had made this joke, a month ago, two months ago, it would have played differently…because, yeah, I’m still married, but like I’m publicly like with a man. And I think that there’s something about a woman who is not attached to a man that somehow reads as a threat, dangerous.”
Hirsch again notes that everything Jenny said is on par with her past comedic rants on parenting. Mollen agrees that she was making a joke about “the way that you can spin over somebody that you love,” adding (about her critics), “They’re sexualizing moralizing, they’re reading their own s*** into it.”
While some people clearly don’t get her humor, and Mollen isn’t apologizing for anything she’s said or posted, she does make an emotional admission that goes beyond addressing the backlash. Earlier this month, she candidly wrote, in a Substack post, “Last week, the internet called me a child molester for posting a photo of myself holding my son. The picture was taken on a Monday night after he returned from a weekend away.”
She poignantly points out, “There’s something devastating about realizing your children can survive without you, that they can be content somewhere else. Happy, even. And that the security you once felt in being their entire world was never meant to last.”
Hirsch reads Mollen’s post on-air and adds, “There’s a mom that doesn’t connect to this, like I don’t buy it.”
Even though Mollen’s responses may seem brash, bold, and (to some people) kind of off, her humor (like many comedians) seems more like it comes from a place of pain than anything nefarious: “This is the first time in my life I don’t have my kids like sleeping in my house every night. There is like something so hard and heartbreaking about that. Like to get your head around this is my new normal…For my son to still like want to hold me, it means so much right now.”
CBGB Festival’s New Announcement Is a Low-Key Tribute to a Punk Pioneer
It’s almost the Fourth of July, and what’s more American than apple pie, baseball, and the Ramones? Not much, and though it's not explicitly about the Ramones, a new announcement from CBGB Festival (the New York City music extravaganza named after the Bowery's historic venue) low-key celebrates a lifelong connection between “America’s pastime” and the punk rock pioneers.
Fans who purchase tickets to the September 26 festival by July 8 (along with all current ticketholders) will receive one exclusive CBGB Archive merchandise item per order. This includes a CBGB Beach Towel, a CBGB Lineups Gray Block Tee, a 12” vinyl record of Recorded Live Off The Board at CBGB, a Live at CBGB’s 12” Vinyl LP, or — and this is the Ramones connection — a black and white CBGB Baseball Jersey.
(Information on how to redeem the offer will be sent via email to all ticket purchasers, and ticket prices will increase on July 8.)
Now, you might immediately think of “Beat on the Brat,” the song from the Ramones’ 1976 self-titled debut album (“Beat on the brat / Beat on the brat / Beat on the brat, with a baseball bat / Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh-oh”). While frontman Joey Ramone reportedly wrote that song about his frustration at “the spoiled brats” in his native borough of Queens, Johnny Ramone was a legit, lifelong baseball fan.
The Ramones’ guitarist grew up rooting for the New York Yankees after his father turned him onto the sport. Johnny wrote about his love in his 2012 posthumous autobiography, Commando. “The Yankees were my favorite team, and Mickey Mantle was my idol,” he shared.
(If you’re wondering why Johnny, who was born in Queens, wasn’t a Mets fan, it’s because the New York Mets didn’t exist until 1962, when Johnny (born 1948) was a teen.)
“I’ve always loved going to ball games. I remember being at Ebbets Field at a Dodgers game in 1957,” he wrote. “I remember Von McDaniel pitching a two-hit shutout. I’ve even talked to some of the players later on in life, and they knew the game I was talking about.”
Johnny Ramone smiles as he and Timothy Leary reminisce about listening to baseball on the radio in their boyhoods backstage in the dressing room before The Ramones' concert at the Hollywood Palladium on March 11, 1994, in Los Angeles.Photo by Lindsay Brice on Getty Images
Johnny’s bandmates didn’t share his enthusiasm. “Of course, John was driven by all sorts of things I didn’t understand. I didn’t really get the obsession with baseball,” wrote Marky Ramone, the band’s longest-tenured drummer, in his autobiography, Punk Rock Blitzkrieg: My Life as a Ramone. Marky said Johnny “collected baseball cards in his early thirties the same way that he collected them as a kid.”
Sadly, Johnny Ramone died in 2004, five years after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. Joey Ramone succumbed to lymphoma in 2001. Original bassist Dee Dee Ramone died in 2002 due to an overdose, while Tommy Ramone, the band’s original drummer, passed away in 2014, also after a cancer battle.
The Ramones were present, in spirit, at the inaugural CBGB Festival in 2025: Marky Ramone, who replaced Tommy on the drums, performed alongside his fellow legends like Iggy Pop, Johnny Marr, and The Damned.
View this post on InstagramThis year, Patti Smith, Morrissey, Buzzcocks, the Sex Pistols (Steve Jone, Paul Cook, and Glen Matlock) will perform, with Frank Carter stepping in for John Lydon. Other groups like Circle Jerks, The Return of Jack and Judy, Bikini Kill, Agnostic Front, High Vis, and Violet Grohl will hit the stage at Under The K Bridge Park on Sep. 26, 2026.
Tickets are on sale now; be sure to purchase before July 8 to get your limited-edition merch.

David Samson’s Daughter Kyra, 28, Honored by ‘WWHL’ Friend: 'She Never Lost Her Spark'
As Miami Marlins team president, David Samson mourns the death of his 28-year-old daughter Kyra, her friends and coworkers at Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen remember a friend and colleague who never once lost her spirit and her spark.
On June 24, David posted on X that Kyra had died. “Yesterday, my daughter, Kyra, passed away peacefully after a 9 month and 11 day fight against one of the cruelest diseases I’ve ever seen up close,” David wrote. “She was diagnosed with Brain Cancer, specifically Glioblastoma. I have felt all of your concern and love for these months and wasn’t ready to be anymore specific than I was.”
He continued, “Kyra was a 28-year-old young woman who loved deeply and who is impossible to describe in 280 characters. While her life got stolen from her, she handled these months with courage, poise, and resolve. And all I want is for no family to feel what we feel today. For no young person to suffer the way she did.”
Kyra’s close friend echoed what Kyra’s father wrote, creating her own beautiful tribute. "My best friend, Kyra Samson, passed away yesterday, peacefully and surrounded by a lot of love," she wrote alongside a carousel of photos and videos of happier days. "Which is an insane thing to say because she was 28 and last summer she was perfectly and completely fine as she drove around the Sony lot after work with me and we laughed, and yapped, and couldn’t believe how lucky we were to be working together again, on a studio lot where they shot The Wizard of Oz."

— David P. Samson (@DavidPSamson) June 24, 2026She said they met while working together at WWHL and "bonded instantly over shared Bravo opinions, shared production ideas, shared childhood love of the Jonas Brothers and current love of Adele, and most importantly, shared time. Hours in my office every week at work, hours traveling to Vegas and LA, hours watching garbage television, hours texting about Scandoval, or politics, or how we would have produced the Met Gala red carpet, or what terrible first date I had just been on."
She said Kyra was her favorite person to be around, praising her bright laugh, infectious smile, lack of filter, and complete confidence — even when she came into her office asking if they were all going to go to jail if the mini pony handler didn’t show up on time. Kyra was described as someone always willing to help, without judgment and with love.
"Kyra was dealt an impossibly unfair hand, and I did promise to look into legal action on her behalf against the universe. She fought so hard, but she never once lost her spirit and her spark," she wrote, adding that "Kyra fought so hard so they could just hang out for a few more minutes, and for that she was so grateful. She fought every day just to stay alive, and all I had to do was show up. What a gift, what an amazing gift. I would have loved more years, but I’m so grateful we got even five more minutes."
Many friends and former coworkers responded to the post, sharing that they were lucky to have known Kyra and expressing their condolences.
The Kyra Fund was established to support urgently needed research for individuals with glioblastomas.

'Adults' Cast Pitches Wild Crossovers Fans Won't See Coming (Exclusive)
We need more TV crossovers.
FX’s Adults, co-created by Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw, premiered last spring. The comedy follows a group of 5 friends trying to navigate their 20s while living in a New York City house together, while tackling the roles and responsibilities associated with being housemates and, well, adults. While Season 2 does not air until August, Adults did screen their premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 11, and Parade got a chance to speak to the cast and creators on the red carpet.
Their first season was packed with celebrity cameos and guest stars, featuring Julia Fox, Charlie Cox, and D’Arcy Carden. And it was reported by Teen Vogue that the sophomore season will include names such as Raven-Symoné, Stranger Things’ Gaten Matarazzo, Curb Your Enthusiasm’s Susie Essman, and many more. Given this roster of stars hanging out with the Adults gang, Parade had to ask the cast if there were any TV shows they would want to have a crossover with – and their answers did not disappoint.
Jack Innanen, who plays Paul Baker, told us, “I was talking to the cast of Not Suitable for Work, and we have the exact same gender and racial makeup. And so I was brainstorming with them. We need to get off the subway and, like, swap. And it's going to be, like [the] Fairly OddParents and Jimmy Neutron [movie]. We need a crossover. I think [with] Not Suitable for Work, there's something where there's a Freaky Friday moment.”
With both shows taking place in New York City, it’s not impossible that these characters could run into each other while exploring what it means to live post-grad in a big city with your friends.

It’s not just Jack who thinks their shows should have a crossover. The Mindy Kaling series also premiered earlier this year, and on the red carpet with star Will Angus, he agreed that a crossover is a must. The actor said “Who knows, maybe a crossover with Adults, I don’t know! Get those folks in here. It would be fun.” The comedy already has a stacked cast with their first season alone featuring Gigi Hadid, Victor Garber, Ego Nwodim, Constance Wu, and Questlove.
While at the Season 2 premiere event for Adults, Parade also asked the rest of the cast and creators which shows and characters they would want to visit. Amita Rao, who plays Issa, wants to see the gang visit Apple TV+’s Widow’s Bay. She pitched, “The adults get trapped on a haunted island. Danger comes. One of us dies!” Rao also expressed her interest in a Halloween episode for the show. Malik Elassal offers up more serious surroundings for the hilarious group of friends with HBO’s Task, saying, “I’d love for Mark Ruffalo to come to our house and try to investigate what is happening.”
All episodes of Season 1 of Not Suitable for Work are streaming now on Hulu, and Adults returns with Season 2 on August 27, 2026 on FX.

Bailey Zimmerman’s Felony Case Ends After New Development
Criminal charges against Bailey Zimmerman have been dropped after he was accused of destroying his hotel room in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office said on Thursday, June 25 that the case was dismissed because full restitution was made.
“Charges were dropped after Bailey took immediate responsibility for his mistake,” the country singer's lawyer said in a statement to local outlet KRQE. “We are grateful to the Pueblo of Sandia and the District Attorney’s Office for this just and swift resolution.”

Prosecutors were previously seeking a felony charge for criminal damage to property and a misdemeanor charge of falsely obtaining services stemming from an incident that allegedly occurred on May 27, 2026.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, the singer allegedly trashed his hotel room before canceling his concert in Albuquerque that night and was later kicked out of the resort he was staying in.
The damage allegedly affected the TV, phone, coffee table, and 2 chairs. Staff also reported a hole in one wall, damage to other walls, stains on the carpet, and 2 missing chairs.
The hotel also claimed Zimmerman charged over $400 worth of alcohol to the room without settling his tab. The documents alleged that both hotel staff and police tried to contact the singer and his team, but no one responded—leading to an arrest warrant being issued.

Zimmerman issued an apology via a statement shared to TMZ on Tuesday, June 23.
“First things first, I want to apologize to the Pueblo of Sandia and to everyone at Sandia Resort & Casino,” he said in part. "I never meant for any of this to come across as disrespectful. I am deeply sorry for my actions that transpired. I respect your community and the hospitality and appreciate the opportunity that was given to me to perform on Native Land. I take full accountability for everything that happened and I am sorry to anyone who feels hurt or disrespected.”
At the time of the show’s cancellation, Zimmerman said it was due to an undisclosed illness.
“Y’all know there’s nothing I love more than getting out on the road and playing these shows for you, so it’s so hard for me to have to say this, but I have to reschedule tonight’s (5/27) and Saturday’s (5/30) shows,” Zimmerman wrote on Instagram at the time, letting fans know that his concerts in Albuquerque and Rohnert Park, California, were going to be rescheduled.
“I have not been feeling well and have tried to power through, but I’m not able to give you all the show you deserve,” he added. “I hate letting y’all down and was really looking forward to these shows, but I gotta take care of myself so I can get back out there stronger.”
Kylie Jenner Hit by Third Workplace Lawsuit by Chef
Kylie Jenner's legal woes continue as she is hit by a third workplace lawsuit.
Less than two months after being sued by two former housekeepers, the beauty entrepreneur's former private chef alleges her tough workload led to her miscarriage.
According to The LA Times, a complaint filed on Monday in Los Angeles alleges that the woman often worked 11 to 12-hour shifts, five days a week and was assigned physically demanding tasks, despite informing her supervisors of her high-risk pregnancy.
The former chef is seeking an unspecified amount of damages and claims that she suffered accommodation failures, pregnancy discrimination and harassment, was misclassified as an independent contractor, did not get paid on time and was wrongfully terminated.
The filing states that the unnamed woman was selected as Jenner's private chef around Thanksgiving 2024. She informed her supervisors in early December that she was three months pregnant and “required reasonable accommodations to protect her health and pregnancy.”

On New Year’s Eve in 2024, the paperwork claim supervisors had allegedly been hostile with the former chef, who was directed to “lift and transport heavy food items across the street and uphill without assistance." According to the documents, this led the chef to feel unwell.
The documents then claim the chef was assigned to work Jenner's child's birthday event at five months pregnant without "adequate support." The next morning, according to the statement, the former chef miscarried her child.
“Due to exhaustion and overwhelming physical strain, [she] broke down emotionally in the bathroom during the event,” read the suit. “That evening, [she] experienced extreme physical exhaustion and heaviness throughout her body as a result of the prolonged and intense workload.”
This suit comes less than two weeks after a member of Jenner's cleaning staff sued her for harassment and discrimination. The Independent wrote that the first ex-housekeeper, Angelica Hernandez Vasquez, alleges she was “treated with hostility and exclusion” by co-workers at Jenner’s Los Angeles house, and that she faced a “toxic and abusive environment” in 2024 and 2025.
Juana Delgado Soto filed a separate complaint against Jenner, alleging racial discrimination, harassment, failure to pay wages and failure to prevent or remedy harassment and discrimination, despite asking the reality star directly.

The Chris Rock/Will Smith Oscars IncidentIt's been just over four years since the infamous incident between comedian Chris Rock and Will Smith at the 2022 Oscars, when Smith ran on stage and smacked Rock as he presented the award for Best Documentary Feature. The dramatic moment was reportedly in response to a joke that Rock made about Pinkett Smith, who has a shaved head due to alopecia. While live broadcasts largely muted the event, confusing viewers at home, the moment went viral and went down in pop culture history.

The Years After the Chris Rock IncidentIn the years since the incident with Rock, the Smith family has been lying low, avoiding the public eye. Why TikTok's Alexandra Madison Hides Her Daughter's Face Online: "It Really Came Down to Safety"
If you had a baby in the past two years, you probably have seen Alexandra Madison and her husband, Jon Bouffard, pop up on your feed. They have always done fun skits about life and relationships but now that they are parents, their content has embraced their new titles as they create videos that really celebrate the absurdity of having a baby.
Their main gig used to be wedding videographers, capturing one of the most joyous days of people’s lives. They took their filming talents and combined them with Madison’s humor skills and found a following on TikTok, finding funny moments in the everyday. But their content really found a community when they decided to share that their first journey to become parents had ended at 26 weeks. They didn’t shy away from how hard of an experience it was to lose their son Leo and instead used their creativity to navigate all the emotions they felt. Sometimes with a little dark humor like in their YouTube short Shower.
Madison recently partnered with Abbott, maker of Similac for its Love Without Measure initiative, which encourages more honest conversations about modern parenthood. Parade spoke with the creator about motherhood after loss, keeping her daughter off social media, balancing work with parenting—and why she'd happily trade TikTok for the Dancing With the Stars ballroom.
Do you have a community you lean on as a mom? How did you find it?
I think we were so business focused at that period of time in our life that we were like, not really thinking about what life would look like starting a family. So when we saw people in our circle starting to grow, their families we were like, ‘well, what about us?’ And then we experienced a very public loss, which we really didn't know what to share or how to share it at that point. But when we were experiencing that, I really felt so alone because I didn't want to share, because I wasn't sure what to share.
It wasn't until we started sharing online the raw, real versions of what we were experiencing and the types of emotions that we were going through, that's really when I felt the most community. I did not expect to have the outreach or other moms connect when I wasn't even sure if I was a mom myself at that point, you know? People were like, ‘Oh, you know, your mom the time that you see a positive pregnancy test.’
But like me not being able to experience the mom things, like changing my son's diaper, waking up early, like I didn't feel like a mom. But sharing how I felt in this season of life, I was so embraced with loving arms in the loss community, the parent community. So that's why I felt so pulled to this movement with Similac, the Love Without Measure initiative.
Because this doesn't just go back to my time being a mom with Lucy. It really rewinds to when I lost Leo and felt like, you know, sharing online these raw emotions and then hearing other people's stories. I felt like things that I was experiencing felt more normal.

How did you decide on sharing your loss with your audience?
I felt like for me, it would really help in my healing journey. That's where social media is great because I'm finding community. I'm looking for answers. It is helpful. And so I wanted to be that for other people. I was looking for other stories that were so similar to mine. And I felt that if I could talk about it and help people feel seen, heard, and less alone, I would have done my job.
How did you balance your identity after becoming a mom, especially when your identity is tied to an online persona?
Were you just in my last therapy session? Because this is literally what I just had a conversation with my therapist about. I've always had such a pull, like creatively and career wise. But then when I had her, I was like, who am I like? I love being a mom and I just want to be a mom for her. You're just watching your daughter play with blocks. And I have to be like, but that's enough, you know, like it's a constant battle. So yeah, I do feel torn still. And I think that I'm trying to give myself grace and know that it's going to ebb and flow and that it's normal to feel torn between these two people.
I would love to hear about your choice to not show your daughter in your content.
So in regards to Jon dressing up as our child or because that was an easy decision, we knew that we didn't want to share our daughter on the internet. So we were like, how can we address the content that we're or like the life that we're experiencing in a way that feels safe but comedic? And so we decided to just put a bow in Jon's hair and really not change anything about him.
I think that there has been this shift with more transparency about the dark side of social media as well. We're still in the very early stages of social media and online in general, but the more that we learn, I think that we as parents have to take responsibility, of course, of protecting our children. And so with all the knowledge that we have on the back end of things happening with AI, with the dark web and just us having a larger platform, it really came down to safety. Like not just protecting her privacy, but the thing that I didn't want was Lucy to be out with my mom and someone to recognize her and and just a stranger go up to her.
If it was 10 years ago, we might have shared her online without the knowledge that we have. But now, knowing the dangers that exist and just really protecting her privacy in her life, it was a priority for us to make sure that we as her parents, who are supposed to protect her, made sure that we create a safe online environment for her.
And I think that, like, it's ever changing and ever evolving, just because you did one thing, you know, at some point in life, it doesn't mean that you can't change. I think that there is a big shift with content creators now getting creative with ways to share their experience as parents, without sharing so much information.
We recently talked to Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert and a couple of other Dancing With the Stars Pros about their parenting journeys. It’s so refreshing to talk to different people about their experiences. Would you ever do DWTS?
Oh my God, 100%. I’m like friends with Derek and Haley and I'm like, guys, what do I need to do? Like, hello? you know, name dropped me. I would 100% take my ass on that floor, like get me in the studio. Jon can make an appearance with his bow and I'll be like, 'I'm doing a dance with my daughter tonight.'
'80s Rock Icons Are Bringing Back Three of Their Biggest Albums
One of the defining hard rock bands of the 1980s is giving fans another chance to own three of its biggest albums on vinyl.
Whitesnake's landmark releases Slide It In, Whitesnake and Slip of the Tongue will all return to vinyl on Sept. 18 through Craft Recordings. The reissues will be available in their original U.S. single-LP configurations on standard black vinyl, while several limited-edition colored variants will also be released for collectors.
Together, the three albums chart the band's rise from respected British rock veterans to one of the biggest arena acts of the MTV era. They also include many of Whitesnake's signature songs, including "Here I Go Again," "Is This Love," "Still of the Night," "Love Ain't No Stranger," "Fool for Your Loving" and "The Deeper the Love."

The earliest of the three albums, Slide It In, arrived in 1984 and marked a turning point for the band. While it retained the bluesy sound of Whitesnake's earlier records, it leaned harder into radio-friendly hard rock and became the group's first Top 40 album in the United States, eventually earning double-Platinum certification.
That momentum exploded with 1987's self-titled Whitesnake, often referred to simply as 1987. The album produced the band's biggest hits, including "Here I Go Again," which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and "Is This Love," which peaked at No. 2. The album itself climbed to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and has since been certified eight-times Platinum in the U.S.
The era also produced some of MTV's most memorable music videos. The video for "Here I Go Again," featuring Tawny Kitaen's instantly recognizable performance atop two Jaguar sports cars, became one of the defining images of late-'80s rock and helped introduce the band to millions of viewers around the world.

By the time Slip of the Tongue arrived in 1989, Whitesnake had firmly established itself as a global arena-rock powerhouse. The album reached the Top 10 in both the United States and the United Kingdom and featured songs including "Fool for Your Loving," "The Deeper the Love" and "Now You're Gone." Guitar virtuoso Steve Vai performed much of the album's guitar work after Adrian Vandenberg suffered a wrist injury before recording.
The Sept. 18 reissues will be available on standard black vinyl, while collectors can also choose from several exclusive color variants. Craft Recordings will offer limited "Onyx," "Gold Black Ice" and "Crimson Moon" editions through its online store, while additional retailer-exclusive pressings will also be available.

More than three decades after these albums helped define the sound of arena rock, songs like "Here I Go Again," "Still of the Night" and "Is This Love" remain staples of classic rock radio and streaming playlists, making these reissues an appealing addition for longtime fans and vinyl collectors alike.

One of the Biggest Country Music Festivals in North America Abruptly Canceled Just 2 Days Before Kick Off
Country Thunder Alberta has been canceled at the last-minute.
Just 2 days before opening its gates and welcoming fans for a weekend filled with country music, organizers pulled the plug on the festival entirely, catching fans off guard and forcing them to pivot travel plans.
Headliners for the event, which was scheduled for June 26 through the 28, included Kane Brown, The Red Clay Strays and Lainey Wilson.
The announcement was shared on social media on Wednesday, with organizers explaining, "Today, we have made the difficult decision to cancel Country Thunder Alberta 2026."
In the explanation, they cited a series of "escalating challenges," noting that they have been in "direct communication with the city of Calgary in an effort" to resolve them.
“Active construction, loss of critical infrastructure and a restrictive noise bylaw made safe and enjoyable execution of the festival impossible,” the post explained, adding that they "aim to provide a world-class event," which they "cannot offer that experience to fans with these new restrictions."
"We are deeply sorry to everyone who planned their summer around this," the message noted, explaining that refunds will be "automatically processed back in the original form of payment" in 30 business days.

The statement continued to list the serious challenges encountered along the way at the event space that is under construction in hopes of opening in the fall of 2027 as the new home of the NHL's Calgary Flames.
"We do not take this decision lightly," said Kim Blevins, Executive Director, Country Thunder.
