'80s 'Greatest of All Time' Soundtrack With Two No. 1 Hits Was Released 42 Years Ago Today

Thu, 06/25/2026 - 8:00am

It's not easy to make a soundtrack that tops the charts. In fact, just last year, Billboard highlighted the 28-year gap in time in which no soundtrack had three top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hits (ultimately ended by the smash hit Netflix movie KPop Demon Hunters, which actually had four songs reach the top 10).

Yet, music icon Prince not only managed to create a soundtrack with two No. 1 hits but also made what Rolling Stonenamed as the single greatest soundtrack of all time. Namely, on June 24, 1984, Prince released Purple Rain, which continues to have a massive impact more than four decades later.

Purple Rain was made for the R-rated 1984 movie of the same name, which was released one month after the soundtrack, on July 27. The film went on to win an Oscar for "Best Music, Original Song Score" and a Grammy award for "Best Album of Original Score Written for a Motion Picture or Television Special."

Many songs from the soundtrack, including the movie and soundtrack's titular single "Purple Rain," went on to find massive success, with that song in particular reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. However, two other songs on the soundtrack, "When Doves Cry" and "Let's Go Crazy," both hit No. 1. "When Doves Cry" has since spent 23 total weeks on the chart, with five weeks at No. 1, and "Let's Go Crazy" is close behind with 21 total weeks on the chart, two of which saw the song at No. 1.

In addition to these achievements, Purple Rain was named as one of Barnes & Noble's Albums of the Month in May of this year and has spent a total of 1,000 weeks on the Official Soundtrack Albums Chart.

The soundtrack has also recently had a resurgence due to Stranger Thingsseason 5 making use of both "When Doves Cry" and "Purple Rain." The latter in particular gained attention because it played during Eleven's possible death.

Gary Numan Reveals the Possibly 'Illegal' Way He Met His Wife

Thu, 06/25/2026 - 7:39am

Gary Numan may have bent a few laws in the name of love.

The "Cars" singer, 68, revealed the unexpected way his wife of almost 30 years, Gemma O'Neill, became more than just a fan of his in a new interview with The Times published on Wednesday, June 24.

Numan revealed that O'Neill, 58, had always been a huge fan of his, having once told a career counselor that she wouldn't need a job, because she was going "to marry Gary Numan."

It took a little bit for her to gain his attention, however. Their first meeting was during a fan event when she was 12, and he was 22, but Numan doesn't recall the interaction. Six years later, the pair posed for a photo together, and as O'Neill continued to attend Numan's shows regularly, he began to remember her as a friendly face in the crowd. By 1988, Numan even knew in advance to make out her autographs to "Gemma."

"That's how I attracted her, which I think is illegal now," he told The Times.

Later, when Numan learned that O'Neill's mother had died, he reached out to the fan club with which he knew she was associated to get her phone number. "Which again may be illegal," he acknowledged.

When Numan first rang O'Neill to express his condolences, she hung up the phone, convinced that someone was "playing a cruel trick," but when he called back and was able to pass a quiz confirming his identity, she realized who had actually reached out to her.

The "Are 'Friends' Electric?" singer went on to ask O'Neill on a date and invited her to join him on a drive to an interview. "I took her to a Little Chef because I'm very down to earth," he recalled of that first date. "I don't do all that flash, rich man, pop star stuff."

The couple would go on to tie the knot in 1997 and later welcomed daughters Raven, 23, Persia, 21, and Echo, 19.

In 1997, O'Neill shared her recollection of her first date with Numan in an interview with The Independent, describing the outing as "really cute."

Jeremy Allen White's Relationship History, Including Co-Star Molly Gordon and Estranged Wife Addison Timlin

Thu, 06/25/2026 - 7:30am

Jeremy Allen Whiteand now estranged wife Addison Timlin called it quits in 2023 after three years of marriage and nearly two decades of friendship (the pair met in 2004). News of the split took fans by surprise—just months earlier, following White’s Golden Globe win for The Bear, Timlin wrote a heartfelt letter to him on Instagram.

“When we were 14 years old and I saw you perform for the first time in drama class, I couldn’t take my eyes off of you," she said. "When we’d run your lines for Shameless I’d be so tickled knowing beforehand what everyone would get to witness the next day on set. When I watched the pilot for The Bear, I cried my f-----g heart out. I think somewhere I must’ve known how much life was about to change, but mostly I just knew that the world was about to discover what I’ve known all along."

“What a privilege it’s been to know first," she concluded. "I love this picture so much because you look 14 and 31 at the same time—watching you win on Tuesday was one of the most overwhelming dimension hopping moments of my whole life, watching you win last night while holding our two babies was pretty out of this world too.”

White and his The Bear co-star Molly Gordon (Claire) were spotted kissing during a September 2024 outing in Los Angeles, suggesting that their onscreen romance (the two play love interests on the hit show) is now brewing in real life. Later that month, a source told People that White "really seems into Molly."

"There were set rumors early on that they had intense chemistry even when not filming. They didn't start hanging out romantically until a few weeks ago though," the insider said at the time, adding, "She spends time at his house. They go on lunch dates and seem to have a great time. They're affectionate, often in deep conversations and seem curious to get to know each other better."

White and Gordon were photographed taking a stroll together in New York City shortly before Thanksgiving in November 2024. Gordon also included White in a photo carousel in a September 2025 Instagram post, but the two have yet to confirm a relationship.

Does Jeremy Allen White have a wife?

Jeremy Allen White and Addison Timlin are in the midst of an ongoing divorce. She first filed in May 2023. According to court documents obtained by ET, the Hal & Harper actress listed Sept. 1, 2022, as their date of separation. Fans were shocked by the sad news, especially after White’s January 2023 Golden Globe acceptance speech, in which he praised Timlin.

"Addison Timlin, I love you deep in my bones. Thank you for all that you do. Thank you for everything you've done," White said.

Why are Jeremy Allen White and Addison Timlin getting divorced?

Neither Jeremy Allen White nor Addison Timlin have publicly addressed their reason for getting a divorce. A source tells ET that the pair tried to smooth things over before officially deciding to go their separate ways.

"Jeremy Allen White and Addison were having trust issues during their relationship that ultimately led to their divorce," the source said. "They were attempting to work things out, but things became increasingly difficult for them, and they decided to split."

ET also notes that Timlin is asking for spousal support.

How did Jeremy Allen White and Addison Timlin meet? View this post on Instagram

Jeremy Allen White met Addison Timlin when they were part-time high-schoolers, part-time aspiring actors, in 2004. The Shameless actor had transferred to Manhattan’s Professional Performing Arts School (PPAS), where Timlin was also a student.

During their joint Showmance podcast interview, Timlin admitted that—despite having an on-again, off-again boyfriend at the time—seeing White walk through the classroom doors was “love at first sight.”

"He has really blue eyes and his blue shirt brought out the blue eyes. And he had really long hair, and that was really cool," Timlin recalled. "He came in hot, so to speak, and [my classmates and I] were all so in love with him."

Even with Timlin’s boyfriend kind of in the picture, the pair spent all their time together. "We cut school together. We got in trouble together, smoked pot together," Timlin said.

The two lost touch when Timlin transferred schools a few months later. They reconnected while co-starring in the 2008 movie Afterschool and finally struck up a romance in 2016.

Speaking with Harper’s Bazaar in 2013, Timlin explained why she likes working in movies over television. “I think that I like doing film more just because when you get a script, you have the story from start to finish, so you can really find the character's arc, and when you walk away from it, you know you're sort of powerless to what happens,” she said.

She is the answer to 1000 prayers and we are in love with her," Timlin said in the caption.

On Mother's Day 2023, Timlin opened up about what it's like to parent without a partner. "It is so f--king hard," she wrote. "It is all out covered in s--t crying on the floor kick you in the shins screaming with no sound coming out hard. Its not the natural order of things. It can be exhausting but more than anything it can just be so lonely. when something magical happens and you have to tell yourself 'don’t forget this' because theres no witness by your side. It’s so painful. But just like everything with motherhood the lows are demolished by the staggering heights."

10 Vintage Brands Designers Always Grab at Goodwill When They Spot Them

Thu, 06/25/2026 - 7:15am

Whether you frequently shop at Goodwill or are planning on heading to a local shop to pick up some items for the first time, knowing about the vintage brands you can expect to find (and should buy) to make the most of your shopping experience is key, especially if you’re looking for new pieces with which you’d like to use to decorate your home. The number of products and brands might seem overwhelming as you navigate through the aisles, but it doesn’t have to be.

We chatted with interior designers, thrifting experts and vintage store curators to learn more about which brands you can look for during your next Goodwill visit, whether you’re shopping for furniture, accessories or kitchenware.

We also asked them about what makes these brands special, the price tags you can generally expect to see on items from each brand, and ways you can use the items you find from each brand to decorate. With this in mind, you might not find all of these brands at every Goodwill location. Stores in certain areas may have restrictions on certain types of items (or have specialty stores), so be sure to keep that in mind.

Read on to learn more about vintage brands to grab at Goodwill as soon as you spot them to ensure you don’t miss out on a good deal (and some good pieces) for your home.

1. Henredon  View this post on Instagram

Sarah Hidalgo, a vintage dealer at Her Story Retold, and Susan Petrie, an interior designer at Petrie Interior Designs, both note that they grab any luxury Henredon pieces they spot at Goodwill. “I look for almost any piece from Henredon because I know it will be exceptionally well-made,” says Hidalgo. “At Goodwill, you can sometimes find Henredon pieces for as little as $20–$50, even though many vintage pieces can sell for hundreds or even thousands of dollars, depending on the collection, style, and condition.”

2. Drexel  View this post on Instagram

Drexel is another brand that offers high-quality furniture you can often find at Goodwill. “Keep an eye out for dressers, credenzas, hutches and end tables,” says Hidalgo. That said, even though you might notice a couple of imperfections on some pieces while shopping, you shouldn’t let that deter you from purchasing. “These pieces were constructed with high-quality woods and veneers and can often be easily restored or refinished,” she adds.

While this might not be the case for every piece from this brand, she notes that you can often find some pieces for $30 or less at Goodwill.

3. Pyrex

When it comes to durable glassware, Karen Mavros, owner of The New Lincoln Antique Mall and Vintiques & Company, advises adding any Pyrex pieces you see as you make your way through your nearest Goodwill store. “I always look for casserole dishes, refrigerator containers and mixing bowls,” she adds. Not only are items from this brand practical, but they also add a touch of kitchiness, as many of them are fun and eye-catching.

4. Le Creuset

Photo by billnoll on Getty Images

Since Le Creuset can be an investment piece, Jennifer Prince, owner of It’s Found Vintage, does her best to grab any pieces she finds from this brand at Goodwill. While she notes that many of these pieces are more functional than decorative, she finds them to be a beneficial addition to a home. “I recently found a pan at Goodwill for just $8, which was a steal,” she says. “Even if a piece is a specialty piece that only does one job, I think it's worthwhile to grab it while you can.”

5. Waterford

Photo by jimfeng on Getty Images

If you’re shopping for accessories, Petrie notes that she doesn’t often let any Waterford pieces continue sitting on the shelf once she sees them. “The crystal has incredible clarity, weight, and sparkle, and it instantly elevates a tabletop or bar,” says Petrie. “Also, it's often dramatically underpriced at Goodwill [as] many people inherit crystal and donate it without realizing its value, so it can be one of the best luxury finds in a thrift store.”

6. Bielecky Brothers  View this post on Instagram

Wicker pieces can be expensive, which is why Petrie notes she is always happy when she comes across a piece from Blelecky Brothers at Goodwill. “Bielecky Brothers is a staple and is known for beautifully crafted wicker and rattan furniture that has stood the test of time,” she says. “

7. Dansk  View this post on Instagram

According to Petrie, Dansk is another great brand to grab at Goodwill. “Dansk has always embodied great quality Scandinavian design,” she says. “The pieces are simple, functional and beautifully designed, which is why so many have remained relevant for decades.” This brand also offers a variety of products, from candleholders to ice buckets, that you can often buy at Goodwill at a lower price.

8. LANE View this post on Instagram

While not all Goodwill locations sell furniture, Mavros notes that you can sometimes find affordable furniture pieces from LANE at Goodwill. “I can usually find pieces in the Chicago metro area in the $22-60 price range, depending on the item and condition,” she explains.

9. Ralph Lauren

There’s no denying that Ralph Lauren is pricey, and why Dr. Lori Verderame, Ph.D., a Pennsylvania-based antiques appraiser, recommends taking advantage of any opportunity you have to make purchases from this brand at Goodwill. While prices may vary depending on the piece, she notes that it will generally be less expensive to purchase from Goodwill than to buy directly from the brand.

10.  Knoll View this post on Instagram

Perie notes that Knoll is another good furniture brand available at Goodwill. This brand is ideal if you’re looking for more elevated and modern pieces. This furniture can be especially suitable for the living room and offices, to name a few areas where you can utilize your new antiques at home.

AmaWaterways Unveils Europe's Largest New River Cruise Ship—See Inside

Thu, 06/25/2026 - 7:10am

If you love the endless dining, grand spaces and killer entertainment of massive ocean mega-ships, but absolutely dread the thought of navigating chaotic crowds of 5,000 strangers, you’ve probably looked into river cruising. But historically, making that switch meant accepting a major compromise. Because standard European river boats have to squeeze through tight, historic locks and slip under low medieval bridges, they are notoriously narrow—leaving very little room for extra amenities.

But AmaWaterways is completely shattering that mold.

The luxury line just dropped the first look at the AmaRudi, its highly anticipated second "double-width" ship debuting on the Danube River in spring 2027. Side-by-side with its famous sister ship, the AmaMagna, this massive new vessel is officially stepping up to reign as the largest river cruise ship in Europe—giving travelers an unprecedented amount of breathing room.

Beyond its game-changing size, the new vessel marks a deeply sentimental milestone. The AmaRudi is the first ship in the company’s history to be named after a man, directly honoring co-founder and Chairman Rudi Schreiner—the pioneering figure who practically invented modern luxury river cruising. In a beautiful, full-circle moment, Schreiner actually grew up exploring the very banks of the Austrian Danube that his namesake ship will soon sail.

"AmaMagna changed what travelers believed was possible on a river cruise ship," says Schreiner. "We knew there would be a right time to revisit that concept, and with river cruising continuing to grow, that time is now. More travelers are making the transition from ocean cruising to rivers, and many are looking for a sense of space and choice. AmaMagna was one of the most rewarding projects of my career, so having this new ship carry my name makes it especially meaningful."

Double the Width, Half the Crowds

AmaWaterways

Even though the AmaRudi features a massive double-width hull that’s twice as wide as traditional river boats, AmaWaterways is intentionally keeping the guest list short. The ship is designed for just 196 guests spread across 98 ultra-spacious staterooms and suites. By keeping the passenger count low, the ship provides loads of personal breathing room, paving the way for expansive, sun-drenched lounges and resort-style perks that used to be physically impossible on a European river cruise.

Take the top deck, for example. Sports fans can head up to the Sun Deck to find a full-sized pickleball court—meaning you can literally smash a volley while floating past the rolling vineyards of Austria’s Wachau Valley or the dramatic, glowing skyline of Budapest. If unwinding is more your speed, head below deck to the state-of-the-art wellness sanctuary. The space features advanced fitness facilities, peaceful relaxation lounges and a full-service salon and spa for professional hair, nail, and massage treatments, all guided by dedicated onboard Wellness Hosts.

Double-Width Suites, a Tech-Forward Social Hub and Soundproof Cinema

AmaWaterways

Beyond just giving you more physical space, the AmaRudi is also shaking up the traditionally quiet river cruise nightlife. The ship is introducing a high-tech entertainment hub designed to be the vibrant social heartbeat of the vessel. This multi-functional venue will feature its own private cinema, a billiards room, karaoke and a retro jukebox. And if you're worried about the noise? Don't be. AmaWaterways is integrating advanced, heavy-duty soundproofing throughout the ship's structure, guaranteeing absolute peace and quiet when you retire to your cabin.

That same focus on modern engineering extends directly to the ship’s eco-footprint. Built to protect the beautiful waterways it sails, the AmaRudi will deploy advanced Stage V engines, high-efficiency solar panels and shore-power connectivity to eliminate emissions while docked. It even uses innovative spud poles to anchor the ship without damaging fragile riverbeds.

Nine Dining Venues and an Intimate New Wine Bar

AmaWaterways

Food and wine lovers are in for a serious treat. The ship's dynamic culinary lineup completely mimics the endless freedom of choice you’d expect on a luxury ocean liner. You can mix things up across multiple distinct dining venues, including the elegant Journey's Restaurant, a signature open-kitchen Chef’s Table experience (which is debuting brand-new Italian lunch menus), and a casual Deck Club barbecue station up on the Sun Deck for some open-air grilling.

But the absolute crown jewel of the drink menu is Rudi's Wine Bar, an intimate, European-style parlor born out of Schreiner's personal passion for global vintages. To top off the whole experience, lunch and dinner aboard the AmaRudi include complimentary, free-flowing beer, soft drinks, and a highly curated, rotating list of more than 30 regional European wines—ensuring your glass is always perfectly paired with the stunning scenery drifting by your window.

‘70s Rock Legend, Known for No. 1 Album, Says He Was Tricked Into Starring in 1978 Film

Thu, 06/25/2026 - 7:04am

In the late 1970s, Peter Frampton was at the height of his fame.

The rocker became a household name with the release of his 1976 No. 1 album Frampton Comes Alive and the 1977 follow-up, I’m in You, which kept him on the charts. So perhaps it's no surprise that the movies came next—although that was a hesitant move for the “Show Me the Way” singer.

In 1978, riding high on the success of the No. 1 live album of all time, Frampton scored the lead role in the musical comedy film Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The singer played Billy Shears, the grandson of the character named in the original 1967 Beatles classic song. But he only agreed to the part after being promised that Paul McCartney would also be in the film.

During a recent interview with Word in Your Ear, Frampton, 76, described Sgt. Pepper’s as a “horrible, stupid movie.”

“We were supposed to be making a movie for, you know, grown-ups, but we were actually making a movie for five- to seven-year-olds,” Frampton revealed. “That’s the way I look at it. It was just, there was no script. The director had no vision. The only reason I did it was because I was told by [producer] Robert Stigwood, ‘Peter, I can't tell you how wonderful it is that you're in the movie.’ And I said, 'Well, I haven't signed yet. Why? Why should I sign with this movie?’ ‘Well, let me tell you, Peter, we've got Paul McCartney has agreed to be in the movie.’”

A stunned Frampton told the producer that since McCartney was going to be in the movie, he’d “rethink” things.

“Of course, he wasn't,” Frampton added of the Beatles legend. “I met up with Paul later at Wembley, the night before we played there and Wings were playing, and Linda goes, ‘Hey, Paul, Peter's doing that Sgt. Pepper movie. And I said, ‘Yeah, well, Paul, I'll see you on set.’ And he said, ‘I'm not going. I'm not in that movie.’ I thought, ‘They got me.’”

Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band was about the Heartland-based band’s battle with evildoers in the music industry, and it was set as a rock opera. And although McCartney was a no-show, the film featured an ensemble cast of superstars, including comedy legends George Burns and Steve Martin, actor Donald Pleasence, and musical acts that included the Bee Gees, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Billy Preston.

In the new interview, Frampton noted that while he was tricked into the role, the “saving grace” of Sgt. Pepper’s was his friendship with the Bee Gees—brothers, Barry, Maurice, and Robin Gibb— who played members of the reformed fictional band.

“They were all super nice to me, and the three of them is like a tank coming at you,” Frampton shared. “So it was that [friendship] that got us through the movie anyway.”

But even with all of that star power, the movie was bombed by critics. A review posted on Roger Ebert’s website noted, “The movie is essentially a two-hour music video with cruddy music, and there’s no small amount of cynicism in a mega-budget, star-studded film pretending that money-grubbing showbiz types are villains.”

During a 2024  appearance on The Bob Lefsetz podcast, Frampton spoke out about McCartney’s wise decision to skip Sgt. Pepper’s.

“I was told by Robert Stigwood that Paul McCartney was going to be the savior of the Heartland,” the rocker recalled. “When Stigwood said, ‘Paul is going to be in the movie,’ I said, ‘Really! Well, if a Beatle's going to be in the movie, he's sanctioned it, then it can't be bad.’ I fly out to Los Angeles, I go to the first meeting out there, no Paul McCartney. So I was lied to.’“

Things only got worse as production began.

“I realized from the first day of shooting, 'Oh, this was a disaster,'" Frampton admitted. “I didn't walk because I would have been sued to high hell. But we all hated being in that movie.”

Jeremy Allen White's Net Worth in 2026 Is More Bull Than Bear

Thu, 06/25/2026 - 7:00am

Jeremy Allen White's net worth in 2026 is higher than ever and continues to rise thanks to his star turn in the critically acclaimed dramedy The Bear—and it's largely because he's not afraid to say no to things he doesn't want to do as an artist.

"I had a meeting for a kind of Marvel-y movie, and I had an attitude," he admitted to British GQin 2023. "I think I played it all wrong."

He recalled telling the executives, " ‘Tell me about why should I do your movie.’ They were like, ‘F—k you,’ and I was like, ‘Right on.’" He admitted that while "really good filmmakers" and "really good actors" star in superhero movies, "I am confused at how the pinnacle of an actor’s career has ended up in that place ... I played it the way I wanted to play it."

That said, while he's free to reject projects now, he didn't always have that privilege, which he says helps him relate to Chef Carmy.

"When I was a younger actor, my identity was really, really wrapped up in my profession," the Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere star told GQ. "If that wasn't going well, nothing was going well. If that was going well, everything felt really fantastic."

While he's out of that mindset for the most part now, you have to admit that things probably feel pretty fantastic for him today. With The Bear now renewed for its fifth season and its lead actor nominated for an Emmy, let's find out how Jeremy Allen White became famous and how much he's earned so far.

How did Jeremy Allen White become famous?

Born and raised in Brooklyn's Carroll Gardens neighborhood, White's parents are former theater actors. He told Fault in 2012 that growing up, he participated in sports, but that his first love was dance.

"I liked the performance of it. I found that I was able to focus while performing, which is something that I found difficult to do especially as a child, even still to this day," he said.

He started acting in theater when he was 13, and while the repetitiveness of stage performances can bore some actors, it's actually his favorite part.

"The repetition of theater and doing the same thing over and over in front of people—you build confidence that way," he said. "I think for television and film, the bummer about it is you sit around and then you have five minutes to make something happen. I leave set every day just uncertain if we did what we were supposed to do."

White attended the Professional Performing Arts School in New York City, nabbing some of his first screen roles during his term—in 2006, when White was 15, he appeared in the film Beautiful Ohio, an episode of Conviction, two episodes of Law & Order and one episode of Law & Order: SVU, along with several small films within the next three years.

When he was 18, he moved to Los Angeles alone and got to work relatively quickly. White's first recurring mainstream role came in 2011 with Shameless, in which he starred as Phillip "Lip" Gallagher for nearly a decade—though it wasn't the role he wanted initially.

"When I was auditioning for Shameless, I was auditioning for both Lip and Ian throughout the auditioning process. I really wanted to play Ian. And then I was told, 'No, you’re going to play Lip,'" he told Variety. "So, I guess that’s the best way to get bad news is like, 'No, you’re not going to do this one, but you can do this one.' And then, obviously I came to really love playing Lip and getting to do it for so long."

He appeared in several more small movies during his tenure on the Showtime series.

White's biggest breakout came in 2022 with Hulu and FX's The Bear, in which he stars as tormented chef Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto. The show is a critical darling, and to date, he's won one Emmy, two Golden Globes, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and two Critics' Choice Awards for the role—not including the trophies the other cast members have taken home for their ensemble performances. That said, he almost turned the part down, because he went from playing a member of a dysfunctional Chicago family in Shameless to, in part, doing the same in The Bear.

"I think I was too concerned with what other people might think," he told GQ. "I also knew that if I said no to this, that whoever ended up doing it, I would hate them forever, so there was some spiteful stuff going on, too."

There truly is no greater motivator.

And we were comfortable letting each other know how overwhelmed we were at the beginning."

It's not known how much he earned for it, but Women's Wear Daily reported that the campaign generated at least $12.7 million in media impact value within just the first 48 hours of its release—so it's safe to say the design house had a great return on that investment.

Does Ayo Edebiri Have a Boyfriend? Inside 'The Bear' Star's Dating History

Thu, 06/25/2026 - 7:00am

Ayo Edebiri’s relationship status is kept under tighter wraps than the series finale of The Bear, the show that made her a household name. She’s never “hard launched” a romance on Instagram or issued a breakup statement through a publicist. “I just try to draw boundaries where I can and where it makes sense for me to,” she once said. “I wouldn’t tell somebody something personal if I just met them off the street, so I don’t do it online.”

Still, fans have managed to piece together a thing or two about her love life, including details about her possible current boyfriend, musician Jamen Whitelock. Keep reading to learn more about their presumed coupling, along with the full scoop on whether anything is cooking between her and co-star Jeremy Allen White

Is Ayo Edebiri in a relationship?

The Bottoms actress has not publicly addressed her relationship status, so it’s hard to say for sure. As of January 2025, it seemed she was in a relationship with indie rocker Jamen Whitelock, who was seen kissing her cheek in a photo she shared on Instagram Story. That peek into her personal life was preceded by a few other clues they were together, including his attendance at the Saturday Night Live afterparty following her hosting debut in 2024, and their participation in a group trip to Taipei in December 2024, which surfaced in an Instagram postshared by Everything Everywhere All At Once star Ke Huy Quan.

Who is Ayo Edebiri’s current boyfriend?

Despite compelling evidence that Edebiri was recently in a relationship with Regal Degal musician James Whitelock, neither party has ever publicly confirmed their romance. Whether they’re still together, then, would be an especially speculative assumption.

When did Ayo Edebiri and Colin Burgess date?

In keeping with her M.O., Edebiri has not shared the specifics of her relationship with fellow comedian Colin Burgess. But it’s fair to say they were together from at least February 2021—when Burgess shared an Instagram selfie with Edebiri on Valentine’s Day and referred to her as his “girlfriend”—until sometime in 2023.

In September 2022, Burgess shared photos from the Emmys, which he attended as Edebiri’s plus-one, writing on Instagram, “Congrats to my gf Ayo on presenting her first Emmy.”

View this post on Instagram

His appearance at the ceremony tipped fans off to the fact that Edebiri had a boyfriend at all, prompting some of them to attack Burgess's looks and sheer existence.

Fire Island actor Joel Kim Booster jumped to his friend's defense on Twitter (now X), in a since deleted comment.

“I’ve known Ayo’s boyfriend for close to a decade and he is such a kind, smart, funny dude and y’all are being weird as shit,” he wrote. “Log off and make a real human friend. I'm begging you.”

Why did Ayo Edebiri and Colin Burgess break up?

That’s anyone’s guess.

In an unrelated comment about why she’s so protective of her privacy, Edebiri has said, “I’m not going to show you guys my personal life, because you’re so weird about my work life. People are often surprised by my boundaries because I am very open. But I’m also the type of person where if you cross it, you’ve crossed it for life.”

Did Ayo Edebiri and Jeremy Allen White ever date?

No. They sparked rumors of a romance in May 2024, after White was spotted rubbing Edebiri’s back at a Chicago Cubs game alongside several of their costars, but they are strictly platonic friends.

Perhaps fans are projecting onto the actors their desire to see Sydney and Carmy get together on The Bear. Hypothesizing about why so many viewers have rooted for the fictional pair to hook up, Edebiri told Vanity Fair, “Work can be a very intimate thing and a very personal thing and a very emotional thing, and I think when you’re also in industries that are creative or creative adjacent, I think there’s something that also invokes feelings of passion.”

“Also,” she continued, “boy’s got some beautiful blue eyes. You know what I mean? Those are eyes you want to project onto.”

Legendary Pop Artist With 100 Weeks at No. 1 Died 17 Years Ago Today

Thu, 06/25/2026 - 7:00am

When discussing the music industry's greatest of all time, several musicians and band names come to mind, from Elvis Presley and Prince to the Beatles and Whitney Houston. However, many would argue that the single most successful, popular and influential music artist of all time is Michael Jackson, who tragically died at just 50 years old on this day in 2009.

Michael famously began singing and performing as a young child, initially doing so alongside four of his brothers—Jackie Jackson, Tito Jackson, Jermaine Jackson and Marlon Jackson—as the Jackson 5. Their hits, including titles like "ABC" and "I Want You Back," both of which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1970, were incredibly popular, and it didn't take long for Michael to make a separate name for himself.

By 1984, Michael had left the Jackson 5, ready to pursue his solo career after the massive success of his albums Off The Wall, which has since spent 37 weeks on the Billboard charts, and Thriller, which has had a staggering 507 weeks on the Billboard charts to date and continues to be his best known and most successful album.

In fact, beyond just Michael's career, Thriller is the best-selling album of all time, has gone platinum more than 30 times and made history by winning eight Grammy awards in one night. Notably, these are also just some of the achievements Jackson has had throughout his storied career, and he has continued to climb the charts and break records more than a decade and a half after his death.

Even this week, Michael is currently ranked third on the Billboard Artist 100, and he just recently became the first and only artist to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 in six different decades.

It should therefore come as no surprise that his life and music continue to be major topics of conversation, which has intensified recently with the release of the biopic Michael in April of this year. Truly, even 17 years after his death, Michael maintains his title as the King of Pop.

'90s Icon Queen Latifah Teases What to Expect at America250's 'Party for a Good Cause' (Exclusive)

Thu, 06/25/2026 - 6:45am

With the Fourth of July just around the corner, Queen Latifah is gearing up to host America250 — a block party at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Featuring performances from Latifah, Chris Stapleton and The Smashing Pumpkins, thousands will gather to celebrate the nation and donate to charitable organizations.

In an exclusive interview with Parade, Latifah spoke with us from the Coliseum to share a sneak peek at what fans can expect from this Fourth of July party.

“I think [America250 will be] a good time to be a good person, do good things, look out for each other [and] be good neighbors to each other on a huge holiday that we all celebrate,” she said. “This is actually a place to not just party, but party for a good cause. Party for a good reason with people you want to dance with and hang with, and help out other people at the same time.”

In addition to hosting the party and concert, Latifah will also be performing. While she’s still figuring out what genre she wants to do, she said she can guarantee that “there will be hip-hop.”

With America250 on the horizon, Latifah is also preparing to release new music for the first time in nearly 17 years.

“It’s time to put this [music] out right now,” Latifah said. “It’s time to drop this. I think I’m going to have to stop procrastinating and put out some new music as soon as possible.”

As Latifah prepares to step into this next chapter, she recently announced that she’ll be making her debut on The Voice as a coach this September. She said she decided to join the show after she “prayed real good about it.”

“It’s really not about Queen Latifah,” she said. “It’s about that artist, that 90 seconds [on The Voice], and hopefully being able to do something that makes me turn the chair.”

Latifah said she’ll be there to pass on what she’s learned to new artists, and hopes she can connect with whoever ends up on her team.

“I think artists need to make art,” Latifah said. “Make what you want to make. Make what makes you feel good in your spirit. Don’t worry about what everybody else is doing. … Everyone needs to tell their stories.”

Tickets for America250, hosted by Latifah, are available now for $17.76. Find out more at America250.org.

'Hamilton' Creator Has a New Moana Song and It Features Two Moanas

Thu, 06/25/2026 - 6:42am

For a decade, "How Far I'll Go" has been one of Disney's most enduring songs. It plays at recitals, gets hummed by fans, and usually comes up in any Moana conversation. When the live-action remake was announced, one of the first questions fans had was simple. Would Lin-Manuel Miranda be back for more? The answer was yes, with a twist.

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this week to promote the live-action Moana, hitting theaters July 10, Miranda explained that returning to the franchise was not originally the plan. "They pulled me out of retirement to write one more song for Moana and Maui," he told Fallon. The new song, "Along the Way," is performed by Catherine Laga'aia, who plays Moana in the film, alongside Dwayne Johnson as Maui and Auli'i Cravalho, the original voice of Moana from the 2016 animated film and its 2024 sequel.

The song exists because of an unusual creative circumstance. Cravalho, who handed off the role to Laga'aia, is also an executive producer on the live-action film. That dual role gave Miranda an opening he could not pass up. "What's really wonderful is Auli'i is a producer on this film," he said. "So we thought, what if there's a musical conversation between Auli'i's Moana and Katie's Moana? That became the idea for the song." The result puts both actresses on the same track, with Johnson joining as Maui in what Miranda described as a piece that fully earns its place in the story. "Auliʻi and Catherine's voices blend so beautifully," he said in a press statement, "and writing for Dwayne as Maui is just pure fun."

Related: The 2-Second Spider-Man Shot That Convinced Everyone Sadie Sink Is Jean Grey

The film reunites Miranda with director Thomas Kail, who staged Hamilton on Broadway and directed the 2020 filmed stage recording before making his feature directorial debut here. Miranda offered Fallon an affectionate note about Johnson's comfort with the material: "I was there for the filming of 'You're Welcome,' and he's rapping it really well. And I was like, 'Dwayne, you're really good at this.' And he was like, 'Lin... I've been rapping this into every kid's phone for the past 10 years.'" The Moana soundtrack, which includes the original songs alongside "Along the Way," drops June 26.

The Fallon appearance also touched on Miranda's other current project, the Octetfilm adaptation, which he just finished directing. He described the cast (Amanda Seyfried, Rachel Zegler, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Philippa Soo, Jonathan Groff, Gaten Matarazzo, and Tramell Tillman) as "the Avengers for theater kids," adding that his confidence in Seyfried came from a performance. "She sang Joni Mitchell on this show," Miranda said. "A really hard Joni Mitchell song, on the dulcimer. And I was like, 'Oh, she knows ball.'"

Moana opens in theaters July 10. The soundtrack is available June 26.

1975 Romantic Smash, With the Highest Note Ever, Remains the Most Dazzling Vocal Performance in Pop Music History

Thu, 06/25/2026 - 6:21am

Nearly 50 years after its release, this 1975 love song remains a staple of romanticmusic collections. Its beautiful melody made it a hit, but a remarkable vocal performance is what truly made it unforgettable.

"Lovin' You" by Minnie Riperton is a cornerstone of the '70s thanks to its easygoing, romantic sound and one of the most remarkable vocal performances ever captured on a pop record.

Decades after it topped the charts, the song continues to captivate listeners with a note that few singers have ever matched. It's called a "whistle note" and is the highest in the vocal register.

Riperton was trained as an operatic singer, according to Medium. Her music career took a turn in the early '70s after she essentially retired from the music business to focus on her family with husband Richard Rudolph and their two children, son Marc and daughter Maya.

Riperton was encouraged to return to music by a representative from Epic Records, and in the summer of 1974, released Perfect Angel, the album that featured “Lovin’ You.” The song quickly stood out for Riperton’s extraordinary vocal range, making the song one of the standout tracks of her career.

Riperton's voice was unlike anything else on the radio at the time. By blending soul, R&B, jazz, and pop into one smooth, unmistakable sound, Riperton carved out a deeply personal and timeless style.

Her daughter Maya Rudolph, who would become a comedy star on Saturday Night Live and in films such as Bridesmaids and Grown-Ups, shared her thoughts about her mother's legacy in a YouTube video.

"It was the debut of this special quality that my mother had. People were blown away," she began.

"It was her big introduction to a lot of people. It sounds like my childhood," Rudolph continued.

"The song sounds like a perfect example of that time and everything coming together in the right way. Over my life, I have heard from people who want to tell me how great she was and how the song affected their lives. How special her voice was."

Rudolph concluded that her mother "stands out as one of a kind, a gem of a human being. As a recording artist, performer, and woman."

Minnie Riperton died at the age of 31 of breast cancer in 1979.

Why This Midwestern Icon Is the Ultimate Cultural Weekend Escape Right Now

Thu, 06/25/2026 - 6:10am

Detroit has lived several lifetimes as an American icon, and that deep history has bred an unshakable sense of identity. Today, the world is once again training its spotlight on Motor City, driven by a culinary revolution that has officially caught the attention of the global stage. With the monumental announcement that Detroit is joining the prestigious MICHELIN Guide American Great Lakes edition, anonymous inspectors are officially on the ground ahead of the highly anticipated 2027 star revelations.

"2026 is shaping up to be another milestone year for Detroit, and our food scene is leading the charge," says Claude Molinari, President & CEO of Visit Detroit. "MICHELIN inspectors are currently exploring and assessing restaurants across the tri-county region, with the excitement building for the 2027 star announcements."

Yet, the magic of this destination isn't coming from national corporate boardrooms. The city's neighborhoods are shaped entirely by the creativity and hustle of the people who live there. What you find today are hundreds of fiercely independent businesses with real personality behind them. "There’s something different about eating at a place where the chef is in the kitchen cooking food they’ve dreamed about serving for years," explains Jeanette Pierce, founder of the City Institute.

Whether you're drawn by the buzz of the incoming Michelin stars, the world-class architecture or the fiercely local independent spirit, there has never been a better time to cross this iconic city off your bucket list. From masterfully restored boutique stays to neighborhood culinary institutions, here's exactly why Detroit deserves the top spot on your next long-weekend travel agenda.

The 2026 Cultural Wave and Immersive Spaces

Detroit Tourism

The momentum building across the city this year extends far beyond the dining room, with infrastructure milestones and museum modernizations opening back-to-back.

The new Gordie Howe International Bridge, the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America, is nearing its highly anticipated official opening, connecting Detroit to Windsor, Ontario. It features a dedicated pedestrian and bicycle path that lets visitors experience the riverfront from an entirely new perspective. On the arts front, the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD) recently reopened following a major update, which Pierce notes "feels like a fresh new chapter for the museum." Visitors can take in a special exhibit on Detroit artist Olayami Dabls, founder of the MBAD African Bead Museum.

"The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation is launching America: 250 Years in the Making, a yearlong celebration with two major debuts: Handmade: The Crafting of America and Fabric of America, which explore American identity through craftsmanship, design and technology," notes Molinari. In the coming months, the arrival of Cosm Detroit near Campus Martius Park will bring a 180-degree immersive dome offering public experiences in sports, entertainment, art and education. If you happen to time your visit to September, you'll hit the Detroit Month of Design. "Detroit is the only UNESCO City of Design in the U.S., and you really feel that energy across the city during that month," Pierce adds.

Where to Stay: Historic Preservation Meets Apartment Style The Shinola Hotel’s stylish guest suites provide the perfect backdrop for a private "Curated by Coup" shopping experience.

Shinola Hotel

Finding a home base in Detroit means choosing between masterfully preserved historic landmarks and innovative, sustainability-focused boutiques.

"Detroit has so many great hotel options," Molinari says. "The Hotel David Whitney sits in the heart of the city near Grand Circus Park and is a big part of Detroit’s story. If you’re drawn to craftsmanship, the Shinola Hotel stands out for its attention to detail, while The Siren Hotel, inside the former Wurlitzer Building, is truly one-of-a-kind. For a quieter stay, The Inn on Ferry Street is in a beautifully restored Victorian mansion."

If you prefer an apartment-style setup or midtown proximity, two properties stand out for their architecture. Molinari recommends Roost Detroit, located inside the beautifully renovated Book Tower, offering top-tier amenities in a setting that honors the city’s past and future. "The Roost is always high on my list," Pierce agrees. "The rooms feel more like beautifully designed apartments than hotel rooms, and the $400 million renovation of the Book Tower is stunning. It’s one of the best examples of Detroit preserving its history while still feeling modern and fresh."

For something completely unique, Pierce points to the El Moore Lodge in Midtown. "Dating back to the 1890s, it was transformed after being abandoned into this gorgeous, sustainability-focused lodge and apartment space with geothermal heating, solar panels, gardens, and really thoughtful design throughout. It has a lovely garden space and cafe, which makes it feel personal in a way most hotels don’t."

The Neighborhood Dining Conversation

Baobob Fare

Detroit’s dining scene is as diverse and dynamic as the city itself, thanks to chefs who bring their own stories and flavors to the table. Neighborhood corridors like the E. Warren Corridor are gaining national attention, anchored by fresh concepts like Little Liberia. "The owner turned her family history and passion for community into a first-of-its-kind restaurant in Detroit," Pierce says.

"Baobab Fare in New Center serves up vibrant East African dishes that have quickly become local favorites," Molinari shares. Pierce echoes the praise, calling it her favorite restaurant in Detroit, period. "The food is approachable even if you’ve never had it before, and the owners’ story of coming to Detroit as refugees from Burundi and building this community-centered business to provide opportunities for so many others makes the place even more special."

For modern Moroccan soul, Molinari points to Saffron de Twah on the East Side, while Marrow’s blend of butchery and ambiance keeps it at the center of Detroit’s food conversation. If you are exploring Southwest Detroit, Pierce recommends El Asador, highlighting a specific dish from a chef who spent years working in high-end kitchens before opening his own place. "El Asador has my favorite steak in the city: Triple chili butter filet mignon. Everything is so good that even the simple side dishes of rice and beans are the best I've had. Bonus: it’s BYOB without a corking fee." For a classic stop, check out Golden Fleece—the oldest restaurant in Greektown. Pierce notes it features second-generation owners on-site daily, alongside a newly added modern Greek bar and coffee shop next door that boasts a fantastic espresso martini.

Morning Bites and Saturday Browsing

Detroit Tourism

The local cafe and bakery scene serves as a major anchor for Detroit's neighborhoods. For a memorable morning bite, Molinari points to Sister Pie in the West Village and Warda Pâtisserie in Midtown, calling both "genuinely world-class." Pierce suggests dropping into Good Cakes and Bakes for a banana pudding cupcake, Morningside Cafe for coffee and community, Alba for an incredible breakfast sandwich, or Sepia Coffee, because the team is "super intentional about where they get their beans and they roast them themselves."

One of the most exciting transformations in the city is the newly revived Michigan Central Station, which is now home to a new location for Yellow Light Coffee and Donuts. "Grab a donut, look around, and just take it all in," Molinari suggests. "That building's transformation is one of the most exciting things happening in Detroit today."

For an afternoon of browsing, Eastern Market is an absolute hub of energy. "It's full of life on Saturday mornings, drawing thousands for local produce, handmade goods, and some of the best murals in the city," Molinari notes. The district features standout stops like Anthology Coffee and La Ventana Café, and is a stone's throw from Evelyn’s Midtown Kitchen, which hosts highly social cooking classes.

While wandering the neighborhood corridors, Pierce tells visitors to stop by Source Booksellers. "It’s one of the best independent bookstores anywhere, and the selection is incredibly thoughtful." Both experts recommend checking out the Shinola store on Woodward, City Bird and Pure Detroit, while Pierce adds Flo Boutique, Next Chapter, Three Thirteen and Viva La Vida Imports to the shopping trail. "They all feel very Detroit in different ways, which means creative, independent, personal and full of character."

Urban Green Spaces and Waterfront Views A breathtaking sunset view over Belle Isle, Detroit's iconic 985-acre island park.

Detroit Tourism

To see the natural beauty of the city, look straight to the water. The Detroit Riverfront stretches for eight miles and is anchored by the new Ralph C. Wilson, Jr., Centennial Park. "It’s a massive waterfront park with basketball courts, playgrounds, water features and green space," Pierce says. For families looking to map out an itinerary, Pierce highlights several of her triplets’ favorite spots in her children's book, Hello Detroit, including the Mount Elliott Park pirate ship splash pad. Adult travelers can look to City Institute’s specialized walking tours or opt for an elegant evening on the water. "Try a Detroit Princess Riverboat dinner cruise at golden hour," Molinari suggests. "The skyline views are stunning."

Connecting the Riverfront directly to Eastern Market is the Dequindre Cut Greenway, an urban path running below street level that Molinari describes as "lined with ever-changing murals and the city’s energy just above." For an unexpected escape inside the city limits, Pierce recommends Rouge Park. "The Stone Bridge Trail feels like you’re hours outside the city when you’re actually only about 20 minutes from downtown."

Finally, no trip to Detroit is complete without crossing over to Belle Isle. "Belle Isle is uniquely Detroit," Molinari says. "This 985-acre island park in the Detroit River has the Oudolf Garden, a public beach, kayak launches, and a 5.4-mile loop trail with views of both the Detroit skyline and Windsor." Pierce notes that the island's Nature Center, beach, aquarium, and playgrounds keep locals and visitors alike returning over and over again.

I'm a Lifelong ShopRite Shopper—These Are the 12 Bakery Items I Never Skip

Thu, 06/25/2026 - 6:09am

I can't remember a holiday, birthday, Sunday morning or even a random busy Wednesday before school when there wasn't something from the ShopRite bakery sitting on our kitchen table. Growing up in a Northern New Jersey ShopRite family, the grocery chain wasn't just where we bought food. It was woven into our lives.

Every Sunday after church, ShopRite was our first stop before heading home. While my parents tackled the grocery list, my brother and I headed straight for the bakery. The smell alone was (and still is!) enough to pull us in. Fresh bread, muffins, cakes, pies, cookies, and donuts filled the air, creating a scent that still feels like home decades later.

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

Some of my strongest childhood food memories came from those bakery cases. The buttery rolls that made every sandwich taste better. The donuts lining trays and trays, carefully put into boxes with tissue paper. Birthday cakes that punctuated ever celebration. And their iconic frosted brownies that rarely lasted more than a day in our house.

What makes ShopRite special is that it still feels like a real neighborhood bakery. While many grocery stores have shifted toward frozen or prepackaged products, many ShopRite locations continue baking fresh items in-store daily. You can see the bakers at work and smell the products being made as soon as you walk through the doors.

Today, I still rely on ShopRite for holiday desserts, birthday cakes, fresh bread, school breakfast treats, and last-minute entertaining essentials. As a lifelong ShopRite loyalist, getting assigned a story about my favorite bakery items honestly feels like a childhood dream come true. After decades of eating my way through countless pastries, cakes, breads, and cookies, these are the bakery items I always come back for.

Why Do Fans Love ShopRite's Bakery?

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

The answer is simple: quality and value. ShopRite somehow manages to deliver bakery items that taste like they came from a dedicated local bakery while keeping prices incredibly affordable. Whether you're grabbing a dozen donuts, a custom birthday cake, fresh rolls for dinner, or a pie for a holiday gathering, the quality consistently punches far above the price point. It's one of the few places where you can feed a crowd without sacrificing flavor or blowing your grocery budget.

What Can You Order at ShopRite's Bakery?

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

If you're a big host, let me introduce you to one of the greatest birthday-party hacks of all time: custom ShopRite cakes.

Over the years, I've brought ShopRite bakery teams photos of elaborate cakes that would easily cost $300 to $400 at specialty bakeries, and they've recreated remarkably similar versions for a fraction of the price. The decorators are incredibly talented, and many locations can accommodate everything from character cakes and graduation cakes to trending Pinterest-inspired designs.

Cupcake pull-apart cakes are especially popular among parents right now. They're easy to serve, require no cutting, and make cleanup a breeze. Whether you're celebrating a birthday, baby shower, graduation, retirement, or holiday gathering, ShopRite's bakery can create surprisingly impressive custom desserts without the premium bakery price tag.

The better question might be: what can't you buy?

The bakery cases are filled with freshly baked breads, rolls, bagels, donuts, muffins, pastries, cookies, brownies, cupcakes, cakes, cheesecakes, pies, specialty desserts, seasonal treats, and breakfast items. Whether you're shopping for a quick breakfast, a school celebration, a holiday meal, or a birthday party, there's usually something fresh coming out of the ovens.

Tips for Shopping at ShopRite's Bakery

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

I've learned some lessons when it comes to navigating the ShopRite bakery - Place custom cake and specialty dessert orders at least 24 hours in advance whenever possible. During busy holiday periods, graduation season, or major celebrations, giving the bakery a few extra days is even better.

If you're shopping for donuts, arrive early for the best selection, but don't be afraid to ask. During a recent visit around 9 a.m., I watched bakery employees bringing out fresh trays from the back throughout the morning.

Skip the expensive breakfast sandwich shop and grab fresh bakery rolls for homemade bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches. You'll save money and often end up with a better sandwich.

Check the seasonal displays. Some of ShopRite's best desserts only appear during certain times of year, and the bakery team often introduces fun trend-driven items that sell out quickly.

Finally, if you're hosting a gathering, don't overlook the bakery section for last-minute entertaining. Fresh bread, cookies, cupcakes, pies, and cakes can easily save you a lot of time.

The 12 Best Things To Buy at ShopRite's Bakery, According to a Superfan

Here are my all time favs...

1. Donuts

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

I've been saying ShopRite has some of the best donuts around for years, but now TikTok has caught on too. Soft, fluffy, generously frosted, and available in seemingly endless varieties, they're the ultimate crowd-pleaser. At well under the price of many boutique donut shops, they're one of the best bakery values you'll find anywhere. Show up with a dozen and nobody's complaining.

2. Cheesecake

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

ShopRite's cheesecake is classic New York-style perfection. Dense, creamy, rich, and just sweet enough, it's the kind of dessert that feels timeless. The strawberry-topped version is particularly good, with a generous layer of fruit adding brightness to the decadent filling.

3. Cookie Cakes

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

Affordable, festive, and endlessly customizable, cookie cakes deserve more love. They're a fun alternative to traditional birthday cakes and somehow manage to satisfy both cookie lovers and cake lovers at the same time.

4. Jumbo Kaiser Rolls

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

These rolls are legendary in my family. Soft, pillowy, and slightly buttery, they're delicious with everything from jam to good-quality butter. They also happen to make phenomenal sandwiches. They remind me of a day at the beach...perfect to stuff with your favorite cold cuts and hit the road!

5. Coconut Cream Pie

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

This one is pure nostalgia for me. My mom used to pick one up for my grandfather whenever we had family dinners, and it quickly became one of my favorites too. Every bite takes me back to family gatherings around the table, sitting on my grandpa's lap. Creamy filling, fluffy topping, and plenty of coconut make it an underrated gem.

6. Mini Butter Croissants

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

These croissants are a staple in my house. They're the perfect size for kids, easy to grab on busy mornings, and delicious enough that adults inevitably steal a few too. Rich, buttery, flaky, and endlessly snackable.

7. Frosted Brownies

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

If you know, you know. Specifically, I'm talking about those iconic brownies with the thick frosting and distinctive lines across the top. They're fudgy, rich, chocolatey, and have been a fixture at family parties and school events for as long as I can remember.

8. Italian Bread

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

Freshly baked and often still warm when you grab a loaf, ShopRite's Italian bread is one of the best bargains in the bakery department. It's perfect alongside pasta dinners, for garlic bread, or for building giant sandwiches to feed a crowd.

9. Rye Bread

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

Growing up, rye bread was a regular at our dinner table on soup nights. Today, I still buy it for sandwiches, breakfasts, and lunches for my kids. It's hearty, flavorful, and consistently fresh.

10. Corn Muffins

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

Corn muffins are one of my favorite bakery treats, and ShopRite does them exceptionally well. They're moist, slightly sweet, and absolutely perfect split open, toasted, and slathered with butter.

11. Cupcakes and Pull-Apart Cakes

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

Even the brightly decorated character-themed cupcakes somehow taste good. The cake is soft, the frosting is sweet without being overwhelming, and the pull-apart cupcake cakes have become the unofficial dessert of children's birthday parties. They're practical, affordable, and always adorable.

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

12. Dot Cakes

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

Props to ShopRite for jumping on one of the biggest cake trends of the year! I was pleasantly surprised to see these in the bakery case These colorful cakes deliver all the fun of the viral bakery versions popping up on social media, but priced where you could buy 3 of these for the cost of the famous one in Manhattan! My kids were obsessed, and honestly, so was I.

Honorable Mentions

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

A few favorites just barely missed the list. The chocolate fudge cake remains one of the most reliable celebration cakes in the bakery case, especially when you need a last-minute birthday dessert. Most locations can even add a quick personalized message while you shop.

And don't sleep on the cake pops. They're a newer addition at many locations, but they're delicious and cost a fraction of what you'd pay at a coffee shop.

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

After a lifetime of shopping at ShopRite, one thing hasn't changed: no matter how many trendy bakeries open around me, I still find myself gravitating back to those familiar bakery cases. The smells, the flavors, and the memories are all part of the experience, and that's something no fancy bakery can replicate.

After spending a lifetime eating my way through birthday parties, holiday gatherings, Sunday dinners, and ordinary weekday treats, ShopRite's bakery still manages to impress me. While plenty of grocery stores sell baked goods, few deliver the combination of freshness, variety, nostalgia, and value that ShopRite does. Whether you're picking up a custom cake for a special celebration, grabbing donuts for the office, or simply treating yourself to one of those iconic frosted brownies, there's a reason generations of New Jersey families keep coming back. For me, every visit feels a little like coming home and I'm excited to share my bakery stapes, in hopes some end up in your cart soon!

Lionel Richie Cuts Concert Short After Illness

Thu, 06/25/2026 - 6:03am

Lionel Richie cut a concert in St. Paul, Minn., short after 55 minutes on Wednesday, June 24, after falling unwell.

The 77-year-old singer was performing "Dancing on the Ceiling" at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, when he took a seat on a platform on the stage,

The Grammy award winner informed the crowd, according to People, that he was feeling dizzy and that was the first time he had performed the classic song sitting down.

"When you're feeling dizzy, sit your ass down," he joked, before sitting down to perform "Three Times a Lady" at a piano.

Then followed an impromptu intermission that Richie never returned from. Richie's five band members stayed onstage for 15 minutes before leaving and being replaced by recorded music.

Around 40 minutes into the intermission, Richie's saxophonist, Dino Soldo, thanked the crowd for their patience and explained that the "All Night Long" singer was feeling unwell and wouldn't be able to return to the stage and finish the last 90 minutes of the concert.

“Unfortunately, Lionel is not feeling well,” he reportedly told the audience. “He won’t be able to continue. Additional information will be available,” Dino told the crowd.

Earth, Wind & Fire drummer John Paris later reassured fans in the Star Tribune. He explained that Richie had shown no signs of ill health beforehand and that he was "a little dehydrated."

The show was the first of a 26-date run of shows on Richie's Sing Along All Night Long tour with Earth, Wind & Fire. The singer is scheduled to perform on Friday in Chicago before hitting dates in Toronto, Boston, N.Y.C., Philadelphia, San Francisco and Los Angeles, before finishing the tour in Austin on Aug. 14. He is also set to perform international shows later this year.

Lionel has not spoken out about the incident or updated fans on how he is now feeling. We hope he feels better soon!
