Country Star Makes History After No. 1 Hit Song Lasting 28 Weeks
Ella Langley has reached another career milestone after her blockbuster hit âChoosinâ Texasâ made country music history by spending a record-setting 28th week at No. 1 on Billboardâs Hot Country Songs chart.
The achievement makes Langley the longest-leading solo female artist in the history of the chart since it became Billboardâs main country songs ranking in 1958. The chart dated June 13 confirmed that âChoosinâ Texasâ surpassed the previous record held by Gabby Barrettâs âI Hope,â which dominated the ranking in 2020 and 2021.
The record-breaking run further cements Langleyâs status as one of country musicâs biggest stars. The song has remained at No. 1 since reaching the top in early December and continues to perform strongly across streaming, radio, and sales platforms.

The success of âChoosinâ Texasâ has extended far beyond country music.
Released as the lead single from Langleyâs second studio album, Dandelion, the song became her first No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and remained there for 10 non-consecutive weeks. It also topped charts in Australia, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand.
The track was co-written by Langley alongside Luke Dick, Miranda Lambert, and Joybeth Taylor. Langley also co-produced the song with Lambert and Ben West.
The Billboard achievement is only one part of what has become a landmark year for Langley.
The singer recently earned seven new Gold and Platinum certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Among them were 4x Platinum certifications for both âChoosinâ Texasâ and âYou Look Like You Love Me,â while âWerenât for the Windâ received 3x Platinum status.
View this post on InstagramHer albums Hungover and Dandelion also reached Platinum certification.
Langley recently added another chart accomplishment when her single âBe Herâ secured a fourth week at No. 1 on the Country Airplay chart. The song became her longest-leading Country Airplay hit and tied for the longest-running Country Airplay No. 1 by a solo female artist since Taylor Swiftâs âOur Songâ spent six weeks at the top in 2007-08.
At the same time, Langley has maintained a remarkable presence on Billboardâs Hot Country Songs chart. For five consecutive weeks, she occupied the chartâs top three positions with âChoosinâ Texasâ at No. 1, âBe Herâ at No. 2, and âI Canât Love You Anymoreâ featuring Morgan Wallen at No. 3.
Away from the charts, Langleyâs popularity continues to grow through touring. The country star recently expanded her successful Dandelion Tour by adding 21 new dates across the United States.Â
The tour follows the release of her Platinum-certified album Dandelion and includes performances at major venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Los Angelesâ Greek Theatre.
Born in Hope Hull, Alabama, Langley spent years building her audience through touring and viral releases before breaking into the mainstream. Her debut album Hungover introduced her to a wider audience, but âChoosinâ Texasâ transformed her career.
Now, with a record-setting 28 weeks atop Billboardâs Hot Country Songs chart, multiple Platinum certifications, sold-out tour dates, and continued chart success, Langleyâs remarkable rise shows no signs of slowing down.

'70s Rocker Predicted 1977 Soft Rock Classic Would Hit No. 1 Before It Even Came Out
In 1977, Player released what would become their biggest hit single with âBaby Come Back.â
Written by Peter Beckett and J.C. Crowley, the breakup classic appeared on the British American bandâs 1977 self-titled debut album and hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on January 14, 1978, remaining in the top spot for three full weeks.
Known for its opening guitar hook and harmonic chorus, âBaby Come Backâ was inspired by Beckett and Crowleyâs real-life heartbreaks. The song became a breakup anthem and remains a yacht rock favorite nearly 50 years later.
Which was no surprise to Beckett, who always knew it would be a hit.
In an interview with Rock Cellar magazine, Beckett shared that his âgreatestâ moment with the song came before it was even released, when he publicly announced that he knew it would be a smash hit.
âThe band was doing a âshowcase,â where we performed live on stage for a bunch of record executives in L.A.,â he recalled in 2022. âWe did a couple of songs, and then I walked up to the mic and said, a bit cocky, âWe are now going to do our first No. 1 hit for you.â I could feel the energy in the room change as I sang it.â
Beckett elaborated on his claim in an interview with Professor of Rock, where he noted that the music showcase was attended by âa whole bunch of producers,â including Al Coury, the co-founder of RSO Records, who ultimately signed Player.
âWe did about four songs, and this is true,â he shared. âWe'd never performed it electronically. Weâd always done it acoustically, and this was with a full band. And there's all these people in the room, and we did the first three songs, and I don't know what came over me. I just had this weird feeling, you know, and I walked up to the mic, and I said, âThis is a song. This is going to be our first number one record. It's called âBaby Come Back.â' And I started singing it, and it was like, you know, it felt just magical, and you could just feel the whole thing in the room. It was something special.â
Beckett noted that any time the band played the song before it was recorded, âmouths would drop and we knew we had something undeniable.â
He added that when the song first entered the Billboard charts at No. 80, it was almost more exciting than when it hit No. 1 weeks later.
Beckett told Rock Cellar he wrote âBaby Come Backâ with the intention of creating a hit, but that having it reach No. 1 changed âeverything.â The band opened for big-name acts such as Heart and Eric Clapton and appeared on all of the late-night music shows and popular talk shows of the late 1970s.
âBut I donât think anyone couldâve imagined it would stand the test of time as it has and be as recognizable now as it was 45 years ago,â the Player singer and guitarist added.

Inventor Behind the Biggest â90s Toy Phenomenon, Which Caused a Worker To Be Trampled, Dies at 78
Greg Hyman was an inventor who created one of the biggest toys to ever hit the market, Tickle Me Elmo. The toy started as a collaboration with Ron Dubren, who wanted to create a giggling plushie. Together, they created Tickles the Chimp. However, a Tyco executive believed the technology would work better with a popular character from Sesame Street.
However, since the company didnât have the proper license to create Sesame Street characters at first, Hyman started working on Tickle Me Taz instead, since the company did have a plush license for Looney Tunes characters.
Luckily, the company ended up acquiring the proper license to make Tickle Me Elmo possible. According to the Seattle Times, "What followed was retail mayhem. The first Tickle Me Elmos arrived in toy stores during the summer of 1996. Tyco initially produced 400,000, all of which were sold out by the day after Thanksgiving. As the company scrambled to make more, deploying Boeing 747s to deliver them, there were reports of frantic parents ambushing toy store employees and each other. A clerk at a Walmart in Canada was trampled by a scrum of shoppers as he unpacked a late-night shipment, suffering a broken rib and a concussion."
However, this wasnât the only popular toy that Hyman invented. He was also responsible for inventing Talking Barney, which was released in 1993, and Alphie the Robot, which was popular in the â80s.

According to his obituary, his love of inventing started when he was young. âGreg's interest in all sorts of electronics consumed his life early on,â the statement said. âGreg even offered his classmates lessons in how to invent. At 11 years old, he sold âRocket Shipâ rides in a discarded washing machine with a baby carriage cockpit. Other family lore stories are the exploding toilet set prank he played on Jean and the talking surplus WWII bomb used as a promotional curiosity at a local theater. As a kid, Greg had an entrepreneurial talent that grew from offering those inventing lessons to providing worms to avid fishermen.â
The statement went on to list out his many accomplishments: âHis work has earned several awards, including the 2007 Toy of the Year, Tickle Me Elmo TMX, an induction into the Hasbro Inventor's Hall of Fame for Baby All Gone, and recognition from Playskool for inventing Talking Barney, the largest-volume producing toy in a single year.â

As Hyman once stated, "To be an inventor is an honor. This country was founded on invention. There are no courses you can take to do this."
Hymanâs partner, Deborah Nelson, confirmed his death. However, the cause of death was not stated.
Fans of a Quietly Canceled NBC Drama Warned of a âBrilliantly Jaw-Dropping Cliffhanger'
As we close in on the last episode of Brilliant Minds, there are some concerning thoughts. The series was quietly canceled by NBC, and now many fans are worried about the way the final episode will unfold.
During his Inside Line post, Matt Webb Mitvoch has warned fans of a âbrilliantly jaw-dropping cliffhangerâ to end the series. Brilliant Minds hadnât planned to end with two seasons, and that is clear from the way it ends.
While the medical drama is still being shopped around, itâs concerning for many. The final episode will air on July 1, 2026. Cliffhangers are sometimes welcome, but not when there has been an abrupt cancellation. Now, fans know theyâre going to be left with questions that are unlikely to ever be answered. After all, saving a series is difficult, especially when the linear ratings dropped so severely from freshman to sophomore season.
Brilliant Minds has already left fans with a lot to deal with. After weeks of not really committing and failing to say âI love youâ back, Dana has found herself in the midst of a breakup. Thatâs the breakup that Mitvoch was mentioning in his Inside Line segment. As for the Josh/Wolf/Beau love triangle, things have stepped up with Beauâs marriage proposal, but which lane will Josh pick in the (for now) series finale?
Letâs not talk about the latest Sofia reveal at the end of the penultimate episode. Itâs clear that this series has more legs for a third season, but will it get a chance to deliver?
NBC made the decision back in May 2026 to cancel Brilliant Minds. It was a relatively quiet cancellation, as many feared the worst back in February. The medical drama was supposed to return after the Winter Olympics, but then the final six episodes were pushed to an undetermined later date. That date finally came at the end of the main TV season, pushing the final episodes into the summer, when shows historically see lower linear ratings.
The fight isnât over for the series just yet. Cast options usually expire at the end of June, so itâs possible that weâll get some final answers before the current series finale airs on July 1.

Olivia Wilde Reveals Where She Stands With Jason Sudeikis After Their Contentious Split
Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis are better off as friends than fiancés.
The Invite filmmaker shared an update on her relationship with her ex during an interview with The Cut published on Wednesday, June 24, revealing that their decision to split in 2020 following a seven-year engagement has ultimately been for the greater good.
"We're very, very, very different people who are certainly much better as friends and co-parents," Wilde, who shares son Otis and daughter Daisy with the Ted Lasso star, explained, adding that while an official custody agreement has the kids alternating weeks with each parent, they're able to keep that arrangement "flexible and fluid."
In fact, the Don't Worry Darling director said she even gave up one of her days with Daisy to let her watch soccer at a Brooklyn bar with her dad. "Jason sent me a picture of her sitting with Spike Lee and Mayor Mamdani, two people I revere," Wilde recalled. "I was like, 'F--k, yeah!'"
Wilde, 42, and Sudeikis, 50, got engaged in January 2013 after about two years of dating, going on to welcome their two children together before announcing their separation in November 2020. The breakup made headlines in the years that followed, with Wilde even receiving child custody papers from Sudeikis on stage at CinemaCon in 2022.
Now, Wilde said she's able to look back on the "bumpy, bumpy ride" that was the end of her relationship with the Saturday Night Livealum with more clarity, revealing on Call Her Daddy last week that the split helped inspire her new film, The Invite.
Wilde explained that "you can get to a place in a relationship where you stop engaging in the knowing of each other, in the curiosity about each other," adding, "And you find yourself in a place where you're like, 'I don't even know you.' And that was a point, that was when we realized it was over. And it was f---ing tough. And it brought us to the place of like, 'OK, this is done. We're going to end this.'"
Hilary Duff Fans Can't Miss This Chance to Score Tickets to Lucky Me Tour MSG Show
2000s icon, actress and singer Hilary Duff has already kicked off her current Lucky Me Tour, and the internet (especially, but not exclusively, millennials) are going wild over it. The new tour, which coincided with her newest album, Luck...or Something, that was released earlier this year, is a momentous occasion, in part because it marks Duff's return to music and performances after a years-long hiatus.
As proof of her continued popularity 25 years after the debut of her beloved TV Show Lizzie McGuire, many of Duff's Lucky Me Tour dates quickly sold out. Among the sold out shows are both dates on which Duff will be performing at the legendary Madison Square Garden arena. Those dates, which comprise Aug. 5 and Aug 6., are now only available through resales (likely at a premium).
If you didn't get a chance to score tickets when they first went on sale, though, don't fret. Aperol has just announced that, in addition to a unique pre-show fan experience, they are giving Duff fans the chance to win two tickets to her show on Aug. 5.
In celebration of their partnership with Duff, Aperol is hosting an exclusive pre-show experience on Aug. 5 that will take guests on a tour of New York City's bars and restaurants on their vibrant orange double-decker bus. The tour will feature music, trivia, karaoke and VIP exclusive, limited-edition, co-branded swag.
Aperol
Even better, this event is being hosted by an exciting mystery guest, and at each stop, fans can celebrate and "Share the Moment" with an Aperol Spritz before being taken to Madison Square Garden for the show.
To enter to win a spot on the bus and a pair of tickets to the Aug. 5 show, fans can visit the Share the Moment website. Sweepstakes entries will close on July 7.
If you don't snag a spot on the bus, Aperol still has plenty to offer with their Aperol Spritz Day Club pre-show experiences at Madison Square Garden and venues across New York City. And, if this news has you craving an Aperol Spritz, Aperol has you covered there too, with a reminder that the recipe includes (served in a wine glass full of ice):
- 3 parts Prosecco
- 2 parts Aperol
- 1 part soda water
- 1 orange slice
Royal Caribbean Brings Its Most Exclusive VIP Perk to Smaller Ships
Historically, if you wanted Royal Caribbeanâs legendary "Royal Genie" serviceâwhere a personal fixer handles your every whim, reservation and onboard surpriseâyou had to book a top-tier suite on their absolute biggest ships.
But thatâs officially changing. As more travelers demand custom luxury without the mega-ship crowds, Royal Caribbean is expanding its elite Royal Genie package to smaller Freedom, Radiance, Voyager and Vision-class ships worldwide. Translation? You can finally get that VIP experience on classic, destination-focused itineraries.
This fleetwide rollout completely changes the game for planning a cruise, turning a standard vacation into a seamless, totally hands-off journey. Instead of forcing you to constantly watch the clock or fight for high-demand reservations on a mobile app, the package pairs you with your own dedicated Royal Genie.

Your Genie will reach out to help build a personalized daily schedule tailored to your family's exact vibe. They handle everything from routing your luggage to arranging specific stateroom setups before you even step foot across the gangway.
Once youâre officially on board, consider the Genie your ultimate keys-to-the-kingdom pass. They coordinate priority access across the entire ship, scoring you prime, reserved seating at major shows and managing your daily activity lineup so you can bypass lines at the most popular onboard thrills. The service is incredibly flexible, tooâwhether you want to orchestrate a surprise in-room anniversary party, secure behind-the-scenes access, or just map out the perfect afternoon on the pool deck, your insider makes it happen.

To turn this into a truly comprehensive luxury retreat, Royal Caribbean bundles all that personal attention with a massive suite of top-tier, all-inclusive amenities. You get completely complimentary specialty dining throughout your entire sailing, meaning you can eat at premium venues like Chops Grille or Giovanni's Table every single night without worrying about cover charges.
The package also includes the top-shelf Deluxe Beverage Package, covering premium cocktails, world-class wines by the glass, beers and any non-alcoholic refreshments you want anywhere on the ship. Plus, everyone in your stateroom gets free, high-speed VOOM internet powered by Starlink, so you can stay connected even while sailing to the most remote corners of the globe.
Of course, this level of white-glove treatment doesn't come cheap. Royal Caribbean handles the Royal Genie Package as a premium, per-person, per-day add-on that typically ranges from $220 to $300 a day for each guest in the cabin. If you do the math for a family of four on a weeklong sailing, that price tag can easily tack an extra $6,000 or more onto the base cruise fare. However, when you factor in that the package already bundles high-dollar expenses like unlimited specialty dining, top-shelf drink packages, and premium Starlink Wi-Fiâamenities that most cruisers pay for out-of-pocket anywayâthe math starts to make a lot of sense for travelers looking to curate a private yacht vibe without paying the astronomical price of a mega-ship's top-tier Star Class suite.
Whether you're sailing on a record-breaking giant or a classic, destination-focused favorite, this rollout proves you don't have to choose between a grand adventure and boutique-level luxury. After all, you don't need an insider to enjoy the line's signature thrills and chills, but having a Genie in your corner is the ultimate way to summon the Royal treatment.

âI went into a little bit of a slight, slight depression,â the 22-year-old actress said of her emotions following the December 2025 finale of the Netflix series during a live recording of Happy Sad Confused at 92NY, as per Variety. âIt was very hard for me. I would not have expected that coming off of the show. Iâm a very happy-go-lucky person.â
Throughout the month of January, Brown said she made sure to reconnect with her Stranger Things co-stars and "mend" any unresolved issues to ensure their relationships would continue in spite of the series' end.
"They probably thought I was crazy," Brown said. "I was like, âWeâre still friends, right? Like, youâre not gonna stop talking to me anymore?â I was like, âIâm sorry if I ever upset you,â and was just trying to mend anything. âItâs been 10 years, and I really want to be friends. Youâre my sibling.â And then I was on the beach, it was beautiful, and I just sat there crying. It was a very hard time for me."
"And no one will ever understand it," the Enola Holmes star continued. "I started the show when I was 10, and this character was me, and these people were in my life more than my own family. I saw these people more than going home and eating dinner with my family."
She added, "Saying goodbye to that after 10 years was a very, very emotional thing, and Iâm going to miss Eleven more than anything."
While her time in Hawkins has come to an end, Brown did confirm that she and her on-screen father figure, David Harbour, would be working together on a project in the near future.
"Father-daughter is where we live, but Netflix will always be our home," she teased, calling the plans for the project "concrete."
"The David Harbour project is sooner than expected," she added with a smile. "And itâs Davidâs idea, so kudos to him."
1969 Summer Anthem, Named One of the Greatest Songs of All Time, Blew up After Woodstock
âHot Fun in the Summertimeâ was released by Sly and the Family Stone in 1969, right before they played a high-profile performance at Woodstock that helped them explode in popularity. The song reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 while "I Can't Get Next to You" by The Temptations took the No. 1 spot.
âHot Fun in the Summertimeâ was included on Rolling Stone's list of "500 Greatest Songs of All Time," coming in at No. 250. The band was also included on Rolling Stone's list of the â100 Greatest Artists of All Time," coming in at No. 43.
In 1993, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. However, the band dissolved in 1975 after several missed concerts and erratic behavior from their frontman, Sly Stone, who was struggling with substance abuse.
However, when asked about Stone, band member Cynthia Robinson only had positive things to say. In 2015, she told Ebony, âSly made a big contribution to music, but I donât feel he is given his righteous props. Some people in charge of giving credit or the blame would rather give him blame. I saw Rolling Stone magazine once, and they were talking about the top 50 songs, and there wasnât one Sly song; how does that happen? But, Sly isnât the type to brown-nose for props. Heâs always known what he had, what he was capable of; Iâm just proud that he took the time and effort to put it to music.â

Stone released a memoir, Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin), in 2023, which spoke about the ups and downs of his life. During an interview with Andrew R. Chow, Stone spoke about a quote from the book, where he stated, âMusic could help you resist everyday problems. Music could keep you out of the fire.â Â
âI know music can always make a difference,â Stone explained. âI knew it when I was on the radio. People would call into the station and say that they wanted me to play this song or that song, and I could tell how much it meant to them. That was what we wanted to do with the music that we made. Thatâs what we did. And in a way, we keep going it, because old music is in the middle of some of what's coming out today. It can be in sampling, or it can be in movies about concerts or festivals back then [like Summer of Soul]. It's good for good ideas and good feelings to stay alive.â
Stone died in 2025 at the age of 82 after a battle with COPD.

Hamrick made it clear that the couple has no serious plans, but that doesnât mean they may not pursue it in the future.
âWeâve been engaged two or three years,â Hamrick told Paris Match, a French publication, last year. âMaybe one day weâll marry, maybe not. We are so happy in our current life that I would be too afraid to change anything.â
Hamrick continued by saying that whatâs most important to the couple is that theyâre there for each other no matter what. A retired ballerina and author, Hamrick has also always responded playfully when asked about her age gap with Jagger in the past.
âHeâs younger than me,â Hamrick told Page Six, taking it in stride. âHeâs amazing, really is.â

We Asked 4 Child Psychologists What They Wish More Grandparents Would Stop DoingâThey All Said the Same Thing
The days were long, the years were short, and nowâsomehowâyour little baby has kids of their own. You may have long waited and hoped to become a grandparent, or perhaps you thought this day would never come. Either way, transitioning into one is a development that many child psychologists agree we don't pay enough attention to.
"Becoming a grandparent is a significant identity shift for the grandparent and the parents," Dr. Gina Radice-Vella, Psy.D., the chief psychologist at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, tells Parade. "Being a grandparent offers the opportunity to develop a unique relationship with a grandchildâa relationship that is primarily focused on love, support and adoration."Â
Yet, the role of "grandma" or "grandpa" isn't all sunshine, rainbows and butterscotch candies. The identity shift also comes with a changing hierarchy. Notably, your adult child (and their partner, if they have one) is now the leader of their own household. Dr. Radice-Vella shares that this change can become difficult for grandparents to navigate right away or over time. Yet, learning how to do so is worthwhile because child psychologists say it lets you (and the child's parents) create a healthy, supportive and trusting family structure that everyone can always count on.
"Consistency is important, as it creates a strong and established foundation that both children and adults begin to trust and look to for order, structure and routineâfactors that help developing children thrive," she states.
To create this type of environment for the whole family, child psychologists say it's important for grandparents to break or avoid certain bad habits, especially one. Four child psychologists say that this habit is the one thing they wish grandparents would stop doing, and what to do instead.

What 4 Child Psychologists Wish More Grandparents Would Stop DoingChild psychologists are begging grandparents to stop undermining parents.
"It can be easy for grandparents to dismiss todayâs parentsâ rules and boundaries, as these often look much different than the parenting advice and guidelines they had when they entered parenthood," Dr. Radice-Vella says.
Often, contemporary advice on everything from what makes a nutritious breakfast to when it's safe for a child to ride shotgun is met with "I did it this way, and you turned out fine."
"This line of thinking often drives disconnection between grandparents and parents," she warns.
Dr. Ioana Pal, Psy.D., a licensed clinical psychologist at Stramski Childrenâs Development Center at Miller Childrenâs & Womenâs Hospital, says that common ways grandparents undermine parents include:
- Contradicting parents in front of children
- Ignoring household rules
- âRescuingâ children from consequences
- Pressuring parents to use outdated parenting methods
- Triangulating (forming alliances with grandchildren against parents)
Dr. Pal says that conflict surges when grandparents become too intrusive or dismissive of parents' boundariesâand grandkids lose out.
"Children function better or best when generational roles are clear," she explains. "Parents need to remain the primary attachment and decision-making authority, unless it is unsafe or there are other reasons for grandparents to take more of a primary role. Grandparents tend to function best as supportive but secondary attachment figures."
She says that grandkids experience loyalty conflicts, emotional splitting and confusion when grandparents overstep. Other psychologists agree.
"It creates confusion for everyone," says Dr. Cameron Caswell, Ph.D., an adolescent psychologist and host of the podcast, Parenting Teens with Dr. Cam. "Teens don't know which adults to listen to or which rules actually matter. Parents feel disrespected and unsupported. And what starts as a small moment of saying yes when a parent says no can build into a bigger conflict over time."
Dr. Holly Schiff, Psy.D., a licensed clinical psychologist, says it also undermines the parent-child relationship and creates a "good cop, bad cop" dynamic.
"If a child repeatedly sees a grandparent dismiss or contradict a parentâs rules, they may begin to view the parent as overly strict, unreasonable or less authoritative," Dr. Schiff notes. "Kids may learn to 'split' adults because they are very perceptive."
In other words, the kid may go to the adult who will give them the answer they want.
Of course, there are times when grandparents should undermine parents.
"When a child is in immediate danger, there's a medical emergency or a parent can't be reached and a decision has to be made," Dr. Caswell states. "Everything else, including rules that feel too strict, too lenient or just different from how you would have done it, is a conversation to have with the parent privately, not a call to make on your own."
3 Expert-Backed Things To Do Instead1. Ask before you assumeThe idea that "it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission" generally doesn't hold when a grandparent decides to contradict a parent. Dr. Caswell shares that there's a good reason that parenting looks different today.
"We know so much more now about child development and long-term impacts than we did a generation ago," she notes. "Different doesn't mean wrong. Before stepping in to correct or override, try asking your adult child why they're making the choices they're making. You might be surprised by the answer."
The conversation can prevent you from having to grovel for forgiveness.
2. Support your grandchild without undermining their parentGrandparents can be trusted confidants for their grandchildrenâthat's a great thing. Sometimes, though, a grandchild may confide that they're upset with their parent. Dr. Caswell suggests sitting with a frustrated grandchild and saying something like, "I know it can be really upsetting when you don't understand or agree with your parent's decision. Iâm here if you want to vent."
"That does two things: It tells your grandchild they matterâ their feelings countâand it keeps the parent's authority intact without making them the bad guy," she explains.
3. Find other ways to bondDr. Caswell emphasizes that it's absolutely possible to have a strong connection with a grandchildwithout damaging their bond with the child's parents. She suggests:
- Cooking together
- Telling them stories about you when you are their age
- Ask them to teach you about the things they love
"Your time, your stories and the fact that you love them without an agenda are more than enough," the psychologist stresses.
5 Other Behaviors To Stop Doing 1. Offering unsolicited advice to parentsThough often doled out with the best of intentions, Dr. Radice-Vella warns that offering unsolicited advice can undermine a parent's confidence, create defensiveness and trigger resentment. As a result, parents may become less likely to ask for your help when they need itâto their detriment (and your grandkids).
"Rather than offering your opinion, listen with empathy and validate what they are going through," she says. "Also, offer compliments and praise when you see them navigate a difficult situation. Try saying, 'You are navigating this tough stage so well, and Iâm really proud of you.'"
2. Avoid making comparisonsYou may have other grandchildren or regularly hang out with Jenny from down the block's grandkids, who began talking at 3 days old. Sharing comparisons does not scream, "I'm caring."
"Comparing the child to other children, or even how their own parents behaved at that age, can lead to an unnecessary and negative pressure, leading to parental anxiety or feelings of inadequacy," Dr. Radice-Vella points out. "Instead, focus on the childâs strengths and unique developmental progression without comparing it to other children."
3. Judging or criticizing grandkids for their choicesDr. Caswell doubles down on the fact that the world is much different today than it was when you were a child or a teen.
"That doesn't make it bad or wrong, just different," she notes. "When grandparents comment on clothing choices, haircuts or the way they talk, kids don't hear feedback. They hear someone who is out of touch and not fun to be around."
She advises grandparents to get curious instead.
"Ask them about what they love and why," she recommends. "Relish the fact that there are still a lot of things left for you to learn about."
4. Spare grandkids the guilt tripDr. Schiff points out that grandparents often do this one to try to force closeness or attention. Common guilt-tripping phrases include "You never visit me anymore" or "I could die tomorrow."
"These statements⊠can place inappropriate emotional pressure on children and adult children alike," the psychologist warns. "While these comments may come from loneliness or sadness, they can create obligation-based relationships rather than healthy emotional connections."
She suggests grandparents communicate their needs directly and with warmth. Think like, "I miss spending time with you and would love to plan something together."
"Phrases like this one encourage connection without emotional manipulation or guilt," she says.
5. Don't arrive without noticeDr. Radice-Vella says grandparents usually arrive unannounced because they want to see their grandchildren. As well-intentioned as it may be, she warns that parents often find it highly disruptive.
"It can interrupt a much-needed napâfor baby or parentâderail plans, or simply add stress to an already chaotic day," she notes.
Word to the wise: Always call or text to see if it's a good time. Dr. Radice-Vella suggests something like, "I'm thinking of you all! Any chance I could pop over for a quick visit this afternoon?"

Final TakeawaysGrandparents can play a vital role in grandchildren's lives. Like parenting, though, grandparenting doesn't come with a handbook. Still, there are some "unspoken rules" that child psychologists believe are worth talking about. Here's what to keep in mind:
- Child psychologists wish grandparents would stop undermining parents. It can create confusion and frustration for everyone. Grandchildren may become confused about who to stay loyal to (the grandparent or the parent). When grandparents undermine parents, it can even inspire "manipulation tactics," such as going to the good cop (the grandparent) who will give them the answer they want.
- There are ways to support your grandchild without undermining the parents. For instance, you can sit with them in their frustration and offer a listening ear.
- Other bad habits can also damage grandparent-grandchild relationships. Child psychologists advise against judging a grandchild's choices (such as haircuts), comparing them to other kids and offering unsolicited advice to the parents.

Stepping out of a busy foreign station or exploring a packed market alone is incredibly liberatingâbut it can also be anxiety-inducing. You want to look up, breathe in the architecture, and completely immerse yourself in the culture, but a stubborn inner monologue keeps forcing your attention back to your hip: Is my zipper exposed? Did someone just bump my shoulder? Are my passport and credit cards actually secure? Anyone who has traveled alone knows the struggle: you want to look chic and unbothered, but your brain is secretly running a 24/7 security check on your belongings.
That challenge has taken center stage across the leisure economy. According to data from Virtuoso, women account for a staggering 71% of the luxury network's solo bookings. As millions of solo women hit the pavement to claim their independent "me-time," they are demanding high-performance gear that doesn't scream "clueless tourist." Responding directly to this cultural shift, bestselling heritage accessory brand Baggallini just officially cut the ribbon on its brand-new Jet Set Collection. This premium five-piece lineup elevates Baggallini's trusted Securtex security, proving that high-performance anti-theft features can look incredibly sophisticated.
Baggallini
The best part of this new collection is how subtle it is. In the past, buying an anti-theft bag meant settling for thick fabrics and awkward steel clips that practically yelled "tourist" to local pickpockets. The Jet Set line changes the game by blending top-tier safety features right into a chic design, complete with rich colors, premium nylon, sleek faux-leather trim and gold-tone hardware.
To prevent "slash-and-run" thefts in crowded transit stations, each style features hidden, slash-resistant fabric panels and reinforced straps. Instead of flimsy traditional zippers, Baggallini uses elegant, necklace-inspired locking hardware that discreetly clips into placeâkeeping out quick-fingered pickpockets while looking like an intentional style accent. Inside, built-in RFID-blocking technology protects your credit cards and passport from digital scanning devices.

- Jet Set Anti-Theft Crescent Sling ($105): A trendy, body-hugging silhouette that sits comfortably across your chest, keeping your absolute essentials directly within your line of sight during crowded airport transits or packed museum tours.
- Jet Set Anti-Theft Triangle Sling ($140): An ergonomic, single-strap powerhouse built for active walking days, providing a slightly larger capacity while distributing weight evenly across your back or torso.
- Jet Set Anti-Theft Hobo ($140): A classic everyday purse with a beautiful slouch, designed to transition seamlessly from afternoon boutique shopping to a white-tablecloth dinner.

Tim Allen Reveals the Part of 'Toy Story 5' He Found 'Creepy'
Tim Allen wasn't ready to take one Toy Story 5 storyline to infinity and beyond!
The 73-year-old actor, who has played Buzz Lightyear for three decades now, admitted during an interview with Us Weekly published on Tuesday, June 23, that the space ranger's romance with cowgirl Jessie (voiced by Joan Cusack) initially struck him as "creepy."
Spoiler Alert: Details of the ending of Toy Story 5 continue below.
At the end of Toy Story 5, Buzz confesses his love for Jessie, which is reciprocated with a kiss from the cowgirl. Allen admitted that he thought the plot point was "creepy" at first, explaining, "When I'm doing [Toy Story], I'm literally an 8-year-old kid. That's what the personality I feel is inside Buzz, is my 11-year-old. So it's like, 'Oh God, oh no, I'm doing that?!'"
He compared his reaction to that of his daughter when she saw a romantic scene in a movie as a child. "Every time there's a kissing scene, everybody gets really quiet in the room, especially when [17-year-old Elizabeth was] a little younger," Allen said. "And that is exactly how I responded [to Buzz kissing Jessie]."
The Home Improvement star added, "I remember when I first read it, I said, âAre you going to show this?â Itâs like Woodyâs bald spot. You kind of move them out of the animated thing, and it gets into some larger dramatic questions. Can they get married? And letâs move on from there."
Buzz and Jessie do end up getting married, with their kid Bonnie having a wedding for the toys at the end of the film. Allen said that upon getting a full view of their love story, he realized his initial reaction was part of the charm of it all.
âI loved [it] because it affects everybody in the room,â he explained. âYou know, adults, and then kids go, âEew!â You got that potpourri of responses.â
