The 2-Second Spider-Man Shot That Convinced Everyone Sadie Sink Is Jean Grey
For months, Marvel has done everything in its power to keep Sadie Sink's identity in Spider-Man: Brand New Day a secret. It hid her face in the first trailer. It buried her in a hood in the second. But with the new footage released June 17, fans found what they needed in a single moment clocking in at under two seconds.
At the 58-second mark of the new trailer, a concussive psychic blast ripples outward across Manhattan. On its own, it reads as a dramatic Marvel moment. But eagle-eyed viewers immediately compared the shot to a specific sequence from the animated series X-Men: Evolution, the exact visual signature of Jean Grey's telepathic power surging out of control. The two clips, side by side, are nearly identical in shape, color, and spread.
That would be compelling enough on its own. But the case goes deeper. Enhanced trailer images published by fans and outlets after the trailer dropped reveal what appears to be Sink's face at the 56-second mark, obscured by shadow, but unmistakably her. The figure is wearing a green and yellow jacket, which matches Jean Grey's classic Marvel Girl colors from the comics almost exactly. Tramell Tillman's character has been confirmed as William Metzger, an anti-mutant activist in the comics, which suggests the film's conflict runs directly through mutant politics, and through whoever Sink is playing.
The trailer also includes a line of dialogue that has become its own puzzle. A voice that sounds like Tillman says, 'You're the only one who's immune to it. You're the only one who can stop it.' The implication is that Peter Parker is not vulnerable to whatever psychic force is gripping New York City, which fans read as either a spider-sense defense or a deeper connection to Jean's power that the film has yet to explain.
Sink herself has been characteristically impossible to pin down. When asked directly about the Jean Grey theory, she called it an 'awesome rumour' without denying it, whihc is the kind of non-answer Marvel's most important secrets tend to get. Insider Daniel Richtman went further on June 17, stating simply: 'I can confirm that Sadie Sink is playing Jean Grey, 100%.'

Marvel did the same thing with the No Way Home multiverse cameos. Every rumor was denied. If Brand New Day is setting up the MCU's mutant era the same way, fans already have a very good idea of who will be standing at the center of it when July 31 arrives.
27 Funny Lies Parents Told Their Kids Growing Up
Even though we all had very different childhoods, it kind of seems like there were general lies parents told their kids growing up. Almost as if universal, there are a handful of common falsities parents tell their kids—about chewing gum, swimming after eating and the light inside the car, to name a few—and most of us can relate. We most likely all have memories of our folks stretching the truth a bit when we were growing up. Whether it was to get us off their backs, to save their sanity or to be playful with us, they’d pull our little legs without us even realizing.
Now, we’re not talking about anything mean or destructive like gaslighting or passive-aggressive lies. Though, as with anything, people’s folks can take things too far, and that, unfortunately, might have been your experience. But for the most part, many of us can relate to the fact that there are some harmless, funny lies parents tell kids, and we gathered a list of them for you to enjoy and reminisce.
If you have your own children now, you can really empathize with your parents and understand why they needed to say a white lie here and there. But even if you’re not a parent yourself yet, you can still probably get it.
Are any of the tall tales your parents told you on this list? If not: what white lies did your ‘rents tell you?

Why Do Parents Tell These Hilarious Lies?Kids can ask a lot of questions, and sometimes—either for their sake or yours—parents feel like they need to tell a harmless lie to their child. This could be because the kid really wants something, and it’s a complicated answer to basically tell them “No,” so their folks might decide to cut their losses and tell a lie.
Again, we’re not talking about lies parents might have told to gaslight you, abuse you or be passive-aggressive toward you. We’re not talking about them saying, “I’m fine” while giving you the cold shoulder because you grew up with an eggshell parent, for example.
No, these are fun lies (if you can believe in such a thing). These are things that folks are dishonest about to either make life more whimsical or easier for everyone involved. And, as you’ll see with this list, there are some that nearly all of us were told. Really makes ya think, huh? Like, is there some parenting handbook you all get? Kind of spooky.
35 Funny Lies Parents Tell KidsCanvaPro/Parade
1. "Buffalo wings came from real buffaloes"The real reason: This one's just fun. Probably told to you by your father, this was one of those lies that playful and maybe elicited a laugh from you (or a horrified stare—it depends on how you feel about buffalo).
2. "Chocolate milk comes from brown cows"The real reason: This one is the same; why not play around with your child by making them believe something a wee bit silly? Even if it's just for a little while when they're a child.
3. "I’m a billion years old"The real reason: To bypass the possibility of your child blurting out your real age to other parents or teachers (if you're sensitive about that kind of thing), this little lie is not only funny, but it also keeps your age a mystery. It's okay, your child doesn't need to know how old you are until they can count that high. And even then...
Food and Eating LiesCanvaPro/Parade
4. "If you swallow a watermelon seed, you'll grow one in your stomach"The real reason: Another falsity that was mostly for fun, but also to make sure kids weren't swallowing choking hazards. This is a pretty universal one that I think everyone's parents told them, or they heard from school, thanks to other folks telling their kids. However, it didn't help that Rugrats had an episode in the '90s that depicted this exact thing. Kids are impressionable, and if you heard this lie from your mom or dad, then saw this episode, it probably solidified this for you as fact. I know it did for me.
5. "Crust will make your hair curly"The real reason: If your child wanted curly hair, this was a great incentive to get them to eat everything on their plate, including the crust. Was it true? Not at all.
6. "Carrots give you better vision (or night vision)"The real reason: This was yet another lie that was meant to entice kids to eat something they might normally avoid. And who doesn't want night vision?
7. "If you swallow gum, it will stay in your stomach for seven years"The real reason: Similar to the dishonesty surrounding the watermelon seed, this lie was meant to stop kids from swallowing something that isn't meant to be eaten. But even though you're not supposed to eat chewing gum, it's not going to set up shop in your stomach for years. But again, it scared some of us silly to the point where if we accidentally downed one, we might have been terrified of what happened next (guilty as charged).
8. "Bread crusts will help you be able to whistle"The real reason: Now, if your child didn't care for having curly hair (or their hair was already curly), then this was another lie parents told to get kids to eat all of their bread. I know I wanted to whistle like my father so badly as a kid, and this was something he told me. Didn't work, of course, and I still can't whistle. But at least it was the nicest lie he ever told me! You gotta count your wins where you can, right?
9. "Coffee will stop you from growing"The real reason: Children love to copy their parents or older siblings, and this lie was to get them to stop asking for some coffee "like dad's!" While coffee isn't good for kids, they won't listen to that reason; this lie will scare them into not asking anymore.
10. "Vegetables will make you grow super tall"The real reason: Yet another falsity that hopefully gets kids to eat everything on their plates (or at least the good stuff). And you know? Veggies do help you grow, so this is only slightly a lie.

‘Because I Said So’ Safety LiesCanvaPro/Parade
11. "Turning on the light inside the car is illegal and unsafe"The real reason: This might be the most well-known white lie parents told kids growing up. And one of the main reasons is to scare your kids into not doing something disruptive. I believed this lie so much that it wasn't until I was an adult that I learned it wasn't real. Keeping the dome light on inside the car isn't illegal; you won't get a ticket, as mom told you. But you know what? She was desperate for the 5-year-old to stop reaching up and blocking her rearview mirror. Plus, the light on would be annoying as a driver. I get it.
12. "Too much TV can make your eyes sore or make you go blind"The real reason: I know my mom told me to sit back often or not be too close to the TV when watching it, and it's very much a "because I said so" lie, but it is for your own good. While you won't go blind, it doesn't benefit you. And similar to how you shouldn't be too close to your computer or phone screen, it's just not good for you, which this lie aims to enforce with kids without going into boring explanations.
13. "Swimming right after eating can cause cramping"The real reason: Yet another falsity that I believed for far too long, apparently, you don't have to wait 30 minutes after eating before swimming again. But any type of running around or getting too excited after eating can maybe lead to a stomachache. So just for extra precaution, this lie came to be (most likely).
14. "You have to be 18 to sit in the front seat of a car"The real reason: This is definitely a lie parents told to stop their kids from begging to sit shotgun all of the time. First off, odds are the kid is still too short to do so safely, so the answer is still no for valid reasons. But, this lie gives a hard cutoff that they can look toward, instead of a height or weight that they have no idea when they'll be. So rather than telling them the truth and still getting a "Can I?" every week, this holds it off for at least a little while.
15. "The car won’t start until everyone is buckled"The real reason: Similar to the dome light lie, this fib is a way to "train" a behavior in kids so that they stay safe in the car and realize how important it is to buckle up. Again, it's not enough to just say, "because I said so" or "for your safety," sometimes, kids don't care too much about that. But if you tell them that the car just won't go if they don't buckle, or that it'll come to a halt on the freeway if they unbuckle? That might do the trick.

Parenting Lies To Save MoneyCanvaPro/Parade
16. "The ice cream truck plays music when it’s out of ice cream, actually"The real reason: I hadn't heard this one until seeing it on the internet, and it's kind of funny because it feels counterintuitive. However, kids don't know that. They hear the authority figure in their life say this, and they take it as the truth (which is why white lies are so useful with kids). Now, if your parents ever wanted to buy you an ice cream, they'd have to be careful not to let you hear it beforehand.
17. "The toy store is closed for cleaning today"The real reason: Kids should be able to take "no" for an answer, and shouldn't be so spoiled that they'll throw a tantrum because they aren't getting a toy that day. However, this harmless lie is for those days when you just don't have it in you, don't want a conversation or argument about it, and just want to give a definitive, "Not today."
18. "I don’t have any money"The real reason: This wasn't always a lie for parents, but when it was it was for a similar reason: it didn't allow for any leeway or pushback from children about wanting to buy something. Shut it down.
White Lies To Save Their SanityCanvaPro/Parade
19. "Cracking your knuckles will give you arthritis"The real reason: Yet another lie to scare kids from doing something their parents didn't want them to. As someone who found knuckle cracking as a pre-teen (or slightly younger), I heard this a lot. Did I listen? Nope, but it did worry me a lot. Sure, this habit most likely doesn't benefit you; it doesn't lead to arthritis as the 'rents said it did.
20. "Your face will freeze like that"The real reason: For a similar reason, parents told kids this to stop them from being a nuisance with a new silly face. And for some reason, it feels like grandparents really loved this one, too.
21. "That ride is broken, and that’s why we can’t go on it"The real reason: I've heard this happen with kids who really were dying to go on a ride at Disney or Six Flags, and they were too short. And while telling a child that might make them start to cry (because of rejection, sadness or whatever), this lie puts the blame on the park, not the child. Not that they can help how tall they are, it just makes a clean break for you all to move on to the next ride.
22. "My food is spicy, you won’t like it"The real reason: If you ever just wanted your child to get off your back—and your plate—this fib is intended to make your food unappetizing to them. But just wait for those super stubborn or adventurous kids, then you're in for a doozy.
23. "Santa Claus has a special key to come in through the front door since we don’t have a chimney"The real reason: I grew up in an apartment, and while I think The Santa Clause movie had an explanation I was satisfied with (magic shrunk Scott Calvin enough to fit in whatever piping an apartment does have), other kids needed more. So this lie is a sort of sweet one that aims to keep Santa Claus and Christmas magic alive and allows kids in any living situation to believe. Some stores even sell decorative signs or keys that go on the front door so kids are truly convinced St. Nick can get in.
24. "A baby comes along because a wife and husband love each other very much"The real reason: While this is a pretty blatant lie, it might be good enough for the time being with your kid. Sometimes parents just don't want to think up a G-rated version of where babies come from, and this is an easy lie to explain it away to a young child. Yeah, it's a super heteronormative fib, but it is an easy way to help kids sort of understand something they're asking about.
25. "Peeing in a pool will change the color of the water"The real reason: I mean, thanks to Grown Ups, this "lie" has some weight to it now. I'm not sure if urine-activated color-changing chemicals exist for real public pools, but regardless, this lie is good enough to stop kids from doing it (most of the time). As for why, parents might not want their kids to get into the habit of peeing in a pool for potty training reasons, hygiene reasons and more.
Parent Lies To Encourage Good BehaviorCanvaPro/Parade
26. "Moms have eyes in the back of their heads"The real reason: Still not sure this one is a lie with the way my mom was, but this is a funny lie that really whipped kids into shape. If there was even a possibility that your mom could catch you doing something, would you do it? Yeah, probably for a lot of kids, but it was enough for me.
27. "I have a direct line to Santa Claus if you’re naughty"The real reason: Similarly, this falsity was meant to keep kids in check. Because you might not have a principal at home, but what's worse? The Big Guy finding out you're misbehaving. No thanks!

The 'Healthy' Food That Could Be Damaging Your Kidneys Over 60, According to Nephrologists
There are areas of our bodies that we become particularly mindful of as we age—our hearts and bones, for example—but what about our kidneys? How are these organs impacted as the years progress?
According to Dr. Uday Nori, MBBS, Transplant Nephrologist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, kidney function begins naturally declining by about 1% after the age of 40, but it’s faster with systemic diseases like high blood pressure and diabetes.
That’s why it makes sense that those who are 60 years old or older are even more predisposed to declining kidney function.
“Adults over 60 are particularly vulnerable due to natural kidney aging,” says nephrologist Dr. Stefanie Diaz, MD. “The kidneys have less reserve capacity in handling dietary stress.”
As it turns out, some of that dietary stress is caused by seemingly healthy foods that all of us are encouraged to eat regularly. But it can surprisingly bring on kidney disease, which Dr. Nori calls “highly prevalent.”
“It is estimated that about 30 million Americans have kidney disease today and only one out of nine people even know about it,” he further says.

Since the kidneys act as the body’s filtration system, a number of foods can damage the kidneys.
For instance, Dr. Tim Pflederer, MD FASN FASDIN, Chief Medical Director of Evergreen Nephrology, says that a diet high in red meats increases the work of filtration of the kidneys, leading to scarring within the filters and chronic kidney damage (CKD).
Dr. Pflederer adds that ultra-processed foods, such as sugar-sweetened beverages, fast foods, frozen meals, chips, candy and pastries, are high in salt, sugar and fat, which promote inflammation and may contribute to worsening CKD.
“Alternatively, a predominantly plant-based protein diet can reduce the risk or delay worsening of CKD,” Dr. Pflederer says. “Processed meats also carry high sodium and phosphorus additive loads that contribute to hypertension and CKD-related bone disease.”
But even certain foods that are core to a plant-based diet could eventually bring about kidney damage.

The ‘Healthy’ Food That’s Silently Damaging Your Kidneys Over 60, According to Nephrologists“Spinach is high in oxalate, so for people who are predisposed to kidney stones, it can cause calcium oxalate kidney stones,” Dr. Pflederer cautions. “If kidney stones block the ureter draining tubes, they not only cause pain but can cause damage to the kidneys.”
He also says that there is some evidence that a very high oxalate diet (high in spinach content) can cause chronic kidney damage due to oxalate passing through the filters and causing inflammation in the kidneys.
“This is especially true for people over 60 because the aging kidney is more susceptible to damage from any cause,” he says.
Dr. Diaz explains that spinach is “the most important dietary source of oxalate.” “A metabolic study demonstrated that spinach was the only food tested that was capable of leading to high oxalate levels in the urine in normal subjects,” she says.
Dr. Diaz says that oxalate is a naturally occurring compound in many plant foods. Dr. Nori also lists star fruit, rhubarb and chard as plant-based foods that can cause kidney damage if consumed in large quantities.
You don’t necessarily need to swear off the green stuff, but you should be mindful of your spinach consumption if you have certain kidney-related health conditions.
“The risk depends on total oxalate intake, frequency and individual susceptibility,” says Dr. Pflederer, referring to having a history of prior kidney stones.
Dr. Pflederer says that potentially harmful intake patterns of spinach include:
- Large, concentrated consumption (i.e. smoothies or juicing): less than two cups daily in liquid form can exceed 1,200 mg oxalate/day, “which may overwhelm renal excretion.”
- Frequent high intake: eating spinach ≥8 times/month has been associated with increased kidney stone risk in some populations.
But the great nutritional benefits of spinach are to be considered as well.
“For most people, typical dietary intake does not cause kidney damage and indeed the health benefits outweigh the risks except for those with a tendency to kidney stones,” Dr. Pflederer notes.

Symptoms of Kidney DamageDr. Pflederer says that chronic kidney damage affects 37 million people in the United States, with about 9 in 10 unaware they have it “because the disease typically has no symptoms in its early stages.”
Dr. Diaz says that people don’t have symptoms until the later stages of chronic kidney disease, “and they tend to be nonspecific.”
She lists these symptoms as fatigue, mild itching, and decreased appetite. “As kidney function gets worse, symptoms are more pronounced and can include foamy urine, swelling, nausea, weight loss, urine frequency and difficulty concentrating on tasks,” Dr. Diaz says.

Tom Hanks Stuns Reporter With Savage Dig During Live Interview and Fans Have Thoughts
A live interview withTom Hanks got off to an unexpected start on Thursday.
The Oscar-winning actor was among the high-profile guests at the grand opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago on June 18, when he stopped for a live interview with MS NOW correspondent Jacob Soboroff.
Before the conversation could even get underway, Hanks couldn't resist taking a playful shot at the network's audience size. "What can I do for the 800 people watching MS NOW?" the 69-year-old jabbed.
When Soboroff informed him they were broadcasting live, the Cast Away star doubled down. "Alright, add a zero to it if you need to," he quipped. Soboroff laughed off the remark, replying, "I would say millions now that you're on our air."
The moment is now going viral on social media and fans have a lot of thoughts.

"Kind of tacky comment," another claimed.
A third said, "Pretty arrogant, Tom. Not a great look."
Others were here for the subtle dig. "Not even mad that was a sick burn," one noted.
"Do the people in the comments not understand comedy?" another asked.

For those unaware, MS NOW officially launched on November 15, 2025, after MSNBC rebranded following Comcast’s decision to spin off several cable assets, including CNBC and USA Network, into a new public company called Versant.
As for the event, Hanks wasn’t the only high-profile celeb in attendance. The event had an impressive guest list that included former Presidents Joe Biden, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton, along with former First Ladies Jill Biden, Laura Bush, and Hillary Clinton. Musical performances throughout the evening came from artists like Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, and John Legend.
The pair eventually turned their attention to the Obama Presidential Center itself, but Soboroff couldn't resist referencing the joke one final time before wrapping up the interview. "Thank you for adding the zero to our ratings today," he told Hanks.

This 41-Word Song Title Hit No. 1 45 Years Ago Today
In 1981, one of the strangest songs ever to top the Billboard Hot 100 reached No. 1.
On June 20, 1981, the Dutch studio project Stars on 45 climbed to the top of the U.S. pop charts with a Beatles-inspired medley whose official title was so long it took up most of the record label. The song, officially titled "Medley: Intro 'Venus'/Sugar Sugar/No Reply/I'll Be Back/Drive My Car/Do You Want To Know A Secret/We Can Work It Out/I Should Have Known Better/Nowhere Man/You're Going To Lose That Girl/Stars On 45," remains the longest-titled No. 1 hit in Billboard Hot 100 history.
The recording was the brainchild of Dutch producer Jaap Eggermont, who was inspired by an underground dance-club bootleg that stitched together snippets of popular songs over a relentless disco beat. Rather than using the original Beatles recordings, Eggermont recruited singers who closely resembled the voices ofJohn Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison, then blended their performances with pieces of other familiar hits, including Shocking Blue's "Venus" and The Archies' "Sugar, Sugar."
Related: First Female Canadian Solo Singer to Hit No. 1 in the US Turns 81 Today
To recreate the Beatles' sound, Eggermont assembled a group of Dutch studio musicians and vocalists rather than forming a traditional band. Bas Muys handled the John Lennon vocals, while Okkie Huysdens and Hans Vermeulen supplied the Paul McCartney and George Harrison parts. Session singer Jody Pijper, whose voice appears throughout the recording's signature "Stars on 45" chorus, helped tie the medley together and became one of the key voices behind the project's unlikely success.
Related: One of Rock’s Most Powerful Voices Turns 76 Today
The result was unlike anything else on the radio in 1981. Built around a steady hand-clap rhythm and rapid-fire transitions between songs, the medley became a worldwide phenomenon. It topped charts across Europe, reached No. 2 in the United Kingdom and eventually spent a week at No. 1 in the United States, interrupting the chart dominance of Kim Carnes' "Bette Davis Eyes."
The success of Stars on 45 launched a brief but memorable medley craze. Follow-up releases featuring Motown classics, Stevie Wonder songs and more Beatles material followed, while other artists rushed to release their own medley records. The trend produced hits such as "The Beach Boys Medley" and "The Beatles Movie Medley" before fading away a few years later.
Related: The Festival That Invented Woodstock Happened 59 Years Ago Today
More than four decades later, the song still inspires nostalgia among listeners who remember hearing it for the first time.
"Ya the FIRST time I heard this I was 16! Now I’m 57 and I STILL LOVE THIS MEDLEY! ❤️❤️❤️," wrote one fan on YouTube.
Another commented, "omfg!!!! I haven't heard this since 1981. Back then it was played ALL the time. Thank you!"
"One of my favorites in the early 80's! ❤️," wrote a third fan.
While Stars on 45 is often remembered as a novelty act, its biggest hit accomplished something few novelty records ever do: it became a genuine worldwide pop phenomenon and earned a permanent place in Billboard history.

The real point of dopamine decor, though, is that it brings you joy. You don't have to explain it to anyone else. It really only has to make sense to you.

Burrows directed episodes from some of the most iconic and memorable shows, like Taxi, Cheers, Frasier, Will & Grace, and Friends. When it came to Friends, Burrows wrote in his memoir that he knew the show would be a hit, and that he "didn't have time to direct it," but he "had to direct it."
Tributes From the 'Friends' CastIn separate Instagram posts and stories, Friends' stars Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, and Lisa Kudrow shared heartfelt tributes to Burrows, emotionally expressing how much of an impact he had on them.
"Jimmy , words cannot describe the impact and influence you had on us and everyone who was lucky enough to have known you," LeBlanc captioned photos of him with Burrows and of him, Burrows, and Schwimmer. Burrows’ Final Warning on AIKudrow took the "a picture is worth a thousand words" stance in an Instagram story, showing her and Burrows smiling together on the set of The Comeback. While the two are standing in front of a director's chair bearing his name, Burrows also played a role in the meta-comedy.
During the third season, which premiered in May, Burrows made his final on-screen appearance, delivering a passionate speech about the dangers of AI. In an interview, he said that he believes what his character said as well.
"You can't write a show from the heart when you have no heart," he told IndieWire. "That's what I feel. Unfortunately, I think that the world is going that way."

A fan-favorite TV show is returning to television after 16 years off the air.
Beloved Britishsitcom Last of the Summer Wine originally ran for over 37 years on the BBC, airing 295 episodes across 31 seasons. The Beatles Movie Getting Adapted to a Stage Musical
2019 movie Yesterday is getting a stage adaptation in London's West End.
The Danny Boyle movie starred Himesh Patel and Lily James and imagine a world where no one remembers The Beatles. After a road accident, a musician wakes up in a world where The Beatles never found fame, and no one knew their music.
Hoping to accelerate his own career, he pretends that he wrote The Beatles' music and passes off Lennon and McCartney's work as his own. The song is full of recreations of the Fab Four's best moments as the singer tries to recollect all the songs and lyrics. In one hilarious moment, Ed Sheeran (playing himself) recommends renaming 'Hey Jude' to 'Hey Dude'.

What's on Stage reported this week that a casting notice issued by Nick Hockaday (one of the award-winning team behind Paddington The Musical) says the production will be directed by Danny Boyle, written by Richard Curtis and Emma Freud (who penned the original film), and produced by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner.
The last time Boyle directed for the stage, it was 15 years ago when he worked on the National Theatre production of Frankenstein.
Further details about the stage adaptation, including dates and venues, have not yet been announced. The casting call states that they are looking for a male performer aged between 25 and 35 to play the leading role. The company is seeking a strong singer who is also skilled at both guitar and piano.
It's expected to have the same The Beatles songs as the film, which include 'Let It Be', 'A Day in the Life' and 'I Saw Her Standing There.'
This isn't the first stage show to feature the iconic British band's music. Let It Be celebrated the Liverpool band’s music without spoken dialogue. It features over 40 Fab Four songs and follows their timeline from the Cavern Club to Beatlemania and their final show together.
The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil wowed audiences for over two decades at the Mirage in Las Vegas, using the band's music for their acrobatic and visual arts show.

I Taste-Tested 10 Popular Electrolyte Powders—Here's the One I'd Buy Again
Staying hydrated used to mean grabbing a sports drink from the gas station cooler and calling it a day. If you were lucky, maybe it was cold. If you were really lucky, it wasn't the mysterious neon color that stained your tongue for the next six hours.
Fast forward to today, and electrolyte powders have become a full-fledged category of their own. They're tucked into gym bags, desk drawers, carry-ons, diaper bags, bachelorette party bags, and just about every influencer's kitchen cabinet. Somewhere along the way, we collectively decided that hydration deserved a multi-level upgrade.
Electrolyte powders might be trending but they aren't just trendy. Many people use them to help replenish minerals lost through exercise, travel, hot weather, illness, or simply those days when drinking enough water feels like a part-time job. And while athletes have relied on electrolytes for decades, these convenient packets have expanded far beyond the locker room. Now there are options designed for endurance athletes, busy parents, frequent travelers, keto followers, and even people looking for a little afternoon energy boost.

The challenge? There are a lot of choices. Some are packed with sodium, while others keep it minimal. Some taste like fresh-squeezed fruit, while others veer dangerously close to being unpalatable. Some include added vitamins, caffeine, or adaptogens, while others focus strictly on hydration.
To find the best of the bunch, I rounded up some of the most popular electrolyte powders on the market and invited my friend and registered dietitian, Tory Stroker, to help me taste and evaluate them. Together, we compared flavor, ingredients, hydration benefits, and overall drinkability to determine which ones are actually worth adding to your daily routine.

What are Electrolyte Powders and The Benefits?Jeanette Donnarumma
Electrolyte powders are drink mixes designed to help replenish essential minerals that your body loses through sweat, exercise, heat exposure, travel, illness, and everyday activities.
"When we sweat, we're not just losing water, we're also losing important electrolytes that help our bodies function well," says registered dietitian Tory Stroker. "These minerals play critical roles throughout the body, from supporting muscle contractions and nerve function to helping regulate fluid balance. Electrolyte powders can help replenish what you've lost and restore balance, allowing your body to return to homeostasis."
While they're often associated with athletes, electrolyte powders can also be beneficial during hot weather, after long flights, when recovering from stomach bugs, or anytime you're experiencing increased fluid loss and need extra hydration support. Today's formulas range from simple electrolyte blends to more complex products that include vitamins, minerals, caffeine, amino acids, and other functional ingredients. Some are designed specifically for sports recovery, while others are marketed for travel, daily hydration, energy support, or low-sugar lifestyles.

How I Chose These Electrolyte PowdersJeanette Donnarumma
I rounded up a mix of electrolyte powders that were already sitting in my pantry, others that seemed to follow me around the internet through targeted ads (apparently I give off dehydrated energy), and several popular brands that friends consistently rave about. I wanted a mix of everyday options, athlete-focused formulas, sugar-free choices, and products available at a variety of price points.
Related: How To Tell if You’re Not Drinking Enough Water
How I Tested and Ranked the Electrolyte PowdersTo help me evaluate the powders, Tory was my first call. We often chat about what supplements we need versus don't need, and I find her approach of "well, does it make you feel good" so calming versus a "you must do all this" mentality. Since hydration products are something we regularly compare notes on, this felt like the perfect excuse to spend an afternoon tasting our way through the category. We mixed each powder according to package directions and evaluated flavor, sweetness, drinkability, ingredient quality, and overall value before assigning our final rankings.
Related: The Simple Hydration Trick I Wish I Knew About Sooner
What To Look for When Buying Electrolyte PowdersNot all electrolyte powders are created equal, and the best choice depends on your individual hydration needs, activity level, and health goals. According to Stroker, it's important to be a critical consumer and look beyond the marketing claims on the front of the package. "Pay attention to the electrolyte content, particularly sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium, and consider whether the formula includes added ingredients such as sugar, vitamins, minerals, caffeine, or amino acids," she explains. While sugar often gets a bad reputation, Tory notes that it can actually help with hydration and electrolyte absorption when you're actively sweating or dehydrated. Taste is also an important factor; if you don't enjoy drinking it, you're unlikely to use it consistently. Finally, be mindful of how electrolyte powders fit into your overall supplement routine. Some formulas contain very high levels of certain vitamins and minerals, and more isn't always better. If you're pregnant, taking medications, managing a health condition, or regularly relying on electrolyte products, it's worth discussing them with your healthcare provider to ensure they're a good fit for your needs.

Electrolyte Powders, Ranked and ReviewedHere's how they stacked up!
1. Best Electrolyte Powder Overall: LMNT Recharge ($45 for 30 packets)Jeanette Donnarumma
LMNT quickly became the benchmark against which we compared every other powder. The Citrus Salt flavor wasn't overly sweet, dissolved beautifully, and delivered a salty profile that actually tasted purposeful rather than overwhelming. Tory described it as having "Gatorade vibes," while I thought it tasted a bit like a margarita...in the best possible way. Even though stevia appears on the ingredient list, neither of us noticed a strong stevia aftertaste. We also appreciated the variety pack option, which makes it easy to sample multiple flavors. By the end of the tasting, we completely understood why this brand has such a devoted following. It was easily our favorite and the clear winner of the group.
2. Best-Tasting Electrolyte Powder: Quince ($20 for 30 packets)Jeanette Donnarumma
Quince was one of the biggest surprises of the tasting. We were initially drawn to the chic packaging, but the flavor is what ultimately won us over. It delivered a salt-forward profile similar to LMNT, making it feel like a true hydration product rather than flavored water. Unlike some of the sweeter options, it struck a nice balance and was genuinely enjoyable to drink. It also contains sugar, which Tory noted can be beneficial in certain situations when you're actively trying to replenish fluids and electrolytes, as well as drinkability. We both enjoyed the powders that had sugar in them over stevia. Both of us agreed we'd happily purchase this one again.
3. Best Electrolyte Powder for Athletes: BodyArmor Flash I.V. ($6-7 for 6 packets)Jeanette Donnarumma
BodyArmor Flash I.V. is clearly designed with active individuals in mind, offering a hydration-focused formula intended to replenish electrolytes after exercise or heavy sweating. The Fruit Punch flavor and the stevia aftertaste wasn't a big hit with either of us, but we see the appeal for athletes looking for performance-focused hydration.
4. Best Electrolyte Powder for Wellness Enthusiasts: Wellmade (Thrive Market- $17 per bag)Jeanette Donnarumma
Wellmade feels like it was designed for the person who already has a wellness routine and wants an electrolyte powder that fits seamlessly into it. The formula contains six electrolytes, no sugar, and no synthetic sweeteners, while still delivering a pleasant flavor and easy mixability. What stood out most was the value, at less than $17 for 58 servings, it was one of the most affordable cost-per-serving options we tested. Bonus points for sustainability, it was the only one we tried in a bag and not in individual sticks. For Thrive Market shoppers looking to add a hydration supplement to their pantry without spending LMNT-level prices, Wellmade is a solid pick.
5. Best Electrolyte Powder for Added Energy: Matcha.com Hydrate + Energize ($110 for 30 servings)Jeanette Donnarumma
Unlike traditional electrolyte powders, Matcha.com combines hydration with caffeine, amino acids, and even a gram of protein. Marketed as a pre-workout product, it's designed for people looking to tackle hydration and energy in a single drink. Flavor-wise, however, it left us wanting more. Despite lemon notes on the packaging, neither of us picked up much citrus flavor. Instead, it reminded us of muddy water with very little sweetness or saltiness. While it wasn't a standout in the taste department, it earns points for offering a unique combination of hydration and energy support. Also important to note, this was the most expensive of all the ones we tasted, most likely due to the good quality matcha in each packet.
6. Best Low-Sodium Electrolyte Powder: Ultima Replenisher ($30 for 30 servings)Jeanette Donnarumma
If you're looking for an electrolyte powder that doesn't have the bold, salty profile found in many hydration products, Ultima Replenisher may be worth considering. Compared to some of the other powders we tested, it had very little salt flavor, making it one of the gentler options in the lineup. The drink itself mixed into a beautiful color, but unfortunately that's where our praise ended. Both Tory and I found the stevia flavor impossible to ignore. The sweetness lingered long after each sip, creating an aftertaste that neither of us enjoyed. While low-sodium shoppers may appreciate the formula, we found the overall drinking experience disappointing.
7. Best Electrolyte Powder for Travel: GoHydrate ($29.99 for 30 packets)Jeanette Donnarumma
The individually packaged sticks in a variety of flavors make GoHydrate a great option to take on the road, slipped into a carry-on, gym bag, purse, or even a desk drawer for hydration on the go. The single-serve format takes the guesswork out of measuring and makes it especially appealing for travel days when packing light is a priority.
While we loved the portability, the flavor wasn't our favorite of the bunch. The cherry variety had a distinctly medicinal quality that reminded us of liquid cherry cough syrup, which overpowered the refreshing experience we look for in an electrolyte drink. That said, if convenience is your top priority, GoHydrate's grab-and-go packaging makes it a practical option to keep on hand for busy days and trips.
8. Best Budget Electrolyte Powder: PurAqua Hydration (Aldi) ($3-$5 for 10 packets)Jeanette Donnarumma
PurAqua ended up being one of the biggest surprises of the entire tasting. It was light, easy to drink, and didn't overwhelm us with sweetness. In fact, it reminded both of us of a classic sports drink, making it incredibly approachable. The first ingredient is sugar, which likely contributes to its balanced flavor and drinkability. It also functions more like a hydration-plus-vitamin beverage than a hardcore electrolyte supplement. For the price, it's an excellent value and one we'd happily keep on hand.
9. Most Disappointing Electrolyte Powder: Designs for Health ElectroPure Hydration ($31.49 for 14 servings)Jeanette Donnarumma
While we appreciated the fresh clementine aroma and ambitious ingredient list, this was the powder we struggled with the most. Between the poor solubility, unpleasant flavor, and extremely high vitamin C content, it never quite found its footing. It served as a good reminder of one of Tory's biggest takeaways from our test: more ingredients aren't always better, and it's important to be a critical consumer when evaluating supplements.
10. Best Electrolyte Powder for Clean Ingredients: OATH Peach ($19.99 for 16 sticks)Jeanette Donnarumma
OATH's Peach flavor stood out for its clean ingredients, uncomplicated taste and simple, everyday-drinkability. Rather than relying on intense sweetness or a heavy dose of salt, it offered a light, refreshing flavor that felt closer to naturally flavored water than a traditional sports drink. The ingredient-forward approach made it feel like a hydration product you could comfortably sip throughout the day, not just after a workout. The peach flavor was crisp and refreshing without being overpowering, making this one of the easiest options in the lineup to imagine keeping stocked as part of a daily wellness routine.
After tasting our way through this lineup, one thing became clear: the best electrolyte powder isn't necessarily the one with the most ingredients or the boldest marketing claims, it's the one you'll actually want to drink consistently. Whether you're looking for a heavy-duty hydration boost after a tough workout, a clean everyday option, or a travel-friendly packet to keep in your bag, there's no shortage of choices on the market. Our overall winner, LMNT, impressed us with its balance of flavor, formulation, and effectiveness, but several other brands earned top marks for specific needs. At the end of the day, the right electrolyte powder comes down to your lifestyle, taste preferences, and hydration goals.

"2 weeks bedrest," Biles said.

Oscar Winning Composer on Three Decades of Working on This Film Franchise
For the past three decades, Randy Newman has been making us weep with his Toy Story soundtrack. His score has been synonymous with our favorite toys since we first met Woody and Buzz in 1995.
He spoke to PEOPLE about his inspiration and how the acclaimed 82-year-old composer writes from the perspective of pull-string cowboys and an intergalactic space ranger.
“I mean, I'll occasionally say something that resonates to me personally,” Newman said. “Novelists try to write themselves out of what they do. Songwriters are supposed to put themselves in what they do. The public likes them best when that happens.”
The working relationship started when you wrote "You've Got a Friend in Me" for the first Toy Story. From there, he created a lifelong relationship with Pixar and has worked on 10 films with the studio.
"They told me they wanted it to be about their friendship and almost nothing else. That was really the prime importance to them, that that was emphasized," he said about the iconic song, which he said came to him quickly.
So what keeps Newman coming back to Pixar after so many years and movies, well, it's as simple as they do "good work."
"It's been a privilege to be connected with it. And I believe, to a degree, I've helped them do what they've done in Monsters and Cars 3 and [Cars] 1 and Toy Story," he admitted, looking back at his success with Pixar.
He added, "You do more looking back now, with the streaming and all. You hear what you did. I never used to listen to what I did six weeks later, but I do now. And all those pictures were pretty good, the scores I did. And they're difficult jobs, not as difficult as Hook was for Johnny [Williams], but difficult jobs."
Three decades later, what does Randy Newman want the legacy of the Toy Story scores to be? Well, firstly, "good" but ultimately he wants his work to enhance the movie.
"But if it makes the picture work better, as hopefully that's what I try to do every time — everything I did, tried to do that — that's enough. If that scene worked with Andy and Bonnie trading toys and stuff [in Toy Story 3], when I saw it with the crowd, it really worked that scene. I was moved by it and so were they."

1969 Pop Ballad, Considered a Flop by the Band, Became a One-Hit Wonder
Some commercial succesful songs have films to thank, with Racing Cars' "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?" inspired by a 1969 film of the same name. Many believe the song was part of the film's soundtrack and became the band's only major hit.
The pop-rock band formed in Wales in 1973 and released their debut album Downtown Tonight in 1976. One of their songs was "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?" that landed them high on the UK Singles Chart and was a commercial success. It was inspired by the 1969 psychological drama film of the same name directed by Sydney Pollack.
Based on Horace McCoy's 1935 novel, the film starred Jane Fonda, Michael Sarrazin, Susannah York, Gig Young, Bonnie Bedelia, and Red Buttons. It follows a group of characters during the Depression who become obsessed with winning a dance competition for a cash prize, no matter the consequences. The film became a box office success and among critics.
They Shoot Horses, Don't They? recieved nine Oscar nominations at the 42nd Academy Awards, with Young winning for Best Supporting Actor. Up until 2025, the film held the record for the most nominations in history without winning Best Picture. The film's soundtrack was filled with classics from the '20s and '30s, with many believing the Racing Cars song was included due to its name.
According to SongFacts, Racing Cars keyboardist Simon Davies told Mojo magazine in 2011 that it, "was the perfect pop song at three minutes 45 seconds. The chorus had the perfect hook and I'm sure the success of the film helped tremendously. Even now, when it has airplay, presenters still associate it with the film and claim it was on the soundtrack - it never was."
"They Shoot Horses, Don't They?" was Racing Cars' only big hit of their careers, and a track they never saw being successful. Guitarist Graham Williams revealed it was a "throwaway" song on their album until their manager and record company believed differently. He claims that their manager walked into rehearsals and told them to create a track fans could sing along to.
Racing Cars didn't achieve the same success with their other tracks, but were well-known among concert goers enough to release two more albums.
