These 3 Items Are Banned From Being Worn at Trooping the Colour to Celebrate the Monarch's Birthday
Trooping the Colour is one of the biggest yearly events in London. Every June, the streets shut down for the massive military parade and Royal Air Force flypast. If spectators are lucky, they may get a glimpse of the British royal family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. Keep reading to learn about the event.
What Is Trooping the Colour?Trooping the Colour has marked the official birthday of the monarch for over 260 years. Although the event already existed, King George II set the date in June 1748 to coincide with his birthday and better weather. Now, it’s tradition to celebrate the monarch’s birthday in the summer, no matter when during the year they were actually born.

Over 1400 parading soldiers, 200 horses, and 400 musicians participate in the parade alongside members of the royal family, who traditionally ride in horse-drawn carriages or on horseback. The procession begins at Buckingham Palace and marches down The Mall to Horse Guards Parade and back.
Once the monarch makes it to Horse Guards Parade, they receive a Royal salute and inspect the troops. After the soldiers show off a variety of their skills and expertise, they all ride back to Buckingham Palace. The sovereign is then joined by other members of the royal family to watch the Royal Air Force flyover. A 41-gun salute is also fired in Green Park to mark the occasion.

2026 will mark King Charles III’s fourth Trooping the Colour as sovereign. Before Charles' accession, his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, attended 67 parades during her 70-year reign, riding on horseback for 36 of them before switching to a carriage in 1987.
When Is Trooping the Colour 2026?This year’s Trooping the Colour is on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
Who Is Appearing on the Balcony for Trooping the Colour 2026?While the palace has not confirmed which royals will appear alongside King Charles, it's likely his wife, Queen Camilla, will be by his side. Charles' effort to keep a “slimmed down” monarchy means less of his famous family members will be on the balcony. In addition, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are no longer senior working royals, and Charles’ brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was stripped of his royal titles and barred from events.

Prince William and Princess Kate and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, will also likely be on the iconic balcony along with Princess Anne and possibly the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie.
Is There a Dress Code for Trooping the Colour? While there are limited areas for public viewing, Trooping the Colour is mostly a ticketed event — and it comes with a strict dress code for ticketholders.
"This is a formal State Ceremonial Parade in the presence of His Majesty The King. Those attending are required to dress accordingly,” the official website explains.
Men are asked to wear “morning dress,” which typically consists of a single-breasted suit with tails and a top hat. Women are asked to wear an “equivalent” outfit and children should be "dressed smartly." Although hats are not required, they are highly recommended as a way to pay “compliments to His Majesty and the Colours as they pass.” Absolutely no guests should be wearing denim, shorts, or sandals.
How 'NCIS' Almost Brought Back Leroy Jethro Gibbs
In the “Deal with the Devil” episode of NCIS, the team is still reeling from Director Vance’s (Rocky Carroll) death, and they are discussing the fact that former Army CID Director Wayne Rogers (J. Paul Boehmer) is facing his day in court that very day, but Tim McGee (Sean Murray) and Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) say they wouldn’t mind if someone took out Rogers using the Gibbs method: 1500 yards and a sniper bullet.
Of course, that is a reference to the fact that Gibbs (Mark Hamon), a noted sniper, killed Pedro Hernandez, the man responsible for the death of Gibbs’ wife Shannon and daughter Kelly, with his sniper rifle at a long distance.
Related:NCIS: Origins Reveals the Secret Behind Gibbs' Killing of Pedro Hernandez
Things get crazy when it looks as if Rogers is making a secret immunity deal that promises to set him free, and Parker (Gary Cole), who is on hand, fights to keep the case alive, and ends up in jail for contempt of court as a result.
His sister, Navy Vice Admiral Harriet Parker (Nancy Travis), comes to bail him out, but she wants assurances from him that he won’t do anything crazy but will let justice take its course.
Parker tells her this story about Ricky Quinn, a boy from their childhood who was out of control, but nothing could be done because his father was Chief of Police. That is until someone decided to take justice into their own hands and tampered with his car’s alternator, and he was killed by a hit-and-run driver.
Harriet is anything but reassured but Parker promises to not do anything illegal, but rather, he is going to have his team track down the information that Rogers is going to use to get his immunity so he can quash it.
The case gets complicated when the Los Verdugos cartel gets involved. At first, Parker and the team think that the cartel wants Rogers dead, but then it turns out that they were trying to set him free because he knew the location of some missiles they want to get their hands on.
The NCIS team manages to thwart that deal, but then it turns out that Rogers has more secret intel and gets yet another immunity deal. As he is being driven by WITSEC to his secret new home location, he is killed from 4500 feet by a sniper bullet and it turns out that the car was stopped because someone disconnected the alternator, enabling the sniper to get the shot off that kills Rogers.
Cut to Paker at home getting ready to cook some fresh Alaskan salmon for dinner when his sister comes by and gives him the news, with a question in her eyes: Did Alden have something to do with disconnecting the alternator on Rogers’ car?
Alden plays it off, telling her he doesn't have sniper skills, but he doesn't mention he knows someone who does, who just happens to live in Alaska.

It looks as if Gibbs and Parker could be in cahoots, especially because Parker was cooking fresh Alaskan salmon, and I love the idea of them working together to get justice for Director Vance, but I don’t quite buy it.
There are two reasons I think it wasn’t Gibbs. 1) If he flew from Alaska to DC, there would be a record of it. If he drove to avoid leaving a trail, he wouldn't have brought fresh salmon because it would take several days. Also, when Gibbs moved to Alaska, it is unclear if he took his sniper rifle with him or left it in his home in DC because it was a spur of the moment decision, so probably not.
But more importantly, 2) my feeling is that Gibbs has changed his mind about revenge because in later episodes of NCIS, he seemed to feel differently about having killed Pedro Hernandez in that when other people were going after revenge, he tried to talk them out of it.

Best-Selling Author’s Novel Ranked Among ‘Most Read Books This Year’ in the United States
One fantasy series is completely taking over readers' shelves in 2026.
Shield of Sparrows by bestselling author Devney Perry has been ranked among the most-read books of the year in the United States, according to Goodreads user data. Even more impressively, its sequel, Rites of the Starling, also landed on the list, solidifying the series as one of the biggest romantasy phenomena of the year.
The books have exploded in popularity thanks to their mix of fantasy world-building, emotional storytelling, romance and high-stakes adventure. Readers across Goodreads and social media platforms have embraced the series for its immersive setting and emotionally charged character arcs, helping propel both novels into must-read status.
Set in the fictional world of Calandra, Shield of Sparrows introduces readers to a dangerous realm shaped by political unrest, monsters and the looming idea of destiny. The sequel, Rites of the Starling, expands the story even further, following characters through increasingly perilous circumstances as the series deepens its mythology and emotional stakes.
“The characters in each book are always the driving force behind the story,” Perry told Publishers Weekly in 2024. “But I love to make each book in a series unique, whether that’s by adding an element of mystery or various tropes. I love writing a series of interconnected standalone books so I can revisit past characters while at the same time keeping the storylines fresh and different.”
The overwhelming response to the books has only increased anticipation for what comes next.
View this post on Instagram"The Deluxe Edition Paperback for Shield of Sparrows is coming September 15th!" Perry announced on Friday via Instagram. "It has sprayed edges, custom end pages and an all-new bonus scene."
But, that's not all the author has up her sleeves.
In April 2026, Perry announced that the third installment in the series will be released on March 9, 2027, a meaningful date that also marks her 10-year publishing anniversary. The announcement immediately sparked excitement among fans already heavily invested in the world she has created.
Perry had already established herself as a bestselling romance author before entering the romantasy space, but the Shield of Sparrows series has elevated her profile even further, helping her become one of the genre's standout names, not to mention of the bestselling authors this year.
With two novels already among the country's most-read books and another highly anticipated installment on the horizon, Devney Perry's fantasy world shows no signs of slowing down.

Why King Charles' Marriage Proposal Was Turned Down by a Prominent Person in the Royal Fold
King Charles III has had two high-profile marriages in his life, but there was a third woman who almost became the Princess of Wales — and her last name carries a lot of weight in the royal fold.
Amanda Knatchbull and Charles dated on and off from 1974 to 1979. She is the granddaughter of Lord Mountbatten, Prince Philip’s maternal uncle who was a father figure to him. Lord Mountbatten was also Charles’ godfather and served as one of his key advisors as a young royal. The last name has also made headlines in recent years, as Penny Knatchbull, Amanda’s sister-in-law, became a constant figure in Philip’s life, especially during his later years living at Wood Farm on the Sandringham Estate after his retirement.

Lord Mountbatten was very hopeful that Charles and Amanda would end up together, and Charles did propose to his granddaughter. However, Amanda “refused him” due to being “unwilling to step onto the royal treadmill," per royal biographer Sarah Bradford.
Despite his on-again, off-again relationship with Amanda, Charles met Diana Spencer, the future Princess of Wales, in November 1977 when she was 16 and he was 29. Charles was visiting the Spencer family home because he was dating Diana’s older sister, Lady Sarah. The Prince of Wales and Diana began their romantic relationship in the summer of 1980 after reconnecting at a friend’s home. After a short courtship, the couple announced their engagement on February 24, 1981, and were married later that year on July 29, 1981.
Charles and Diana’s wedding was the royal event of the decade, with an estimated 750 million viewers watching their televised nuptials around the world and 600,000 people lining the streets of London to catch a glimpse of the newlyweds. The couple made history and even started the tradition of sharing a kiss on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

However, Diana later called her wedding the "worst day of my life" in secret audio tapes recorded for an interview in 1991. She recalled feeling like "a lamb to the slaughter,” experiencing intense loneliness, anxiety, and doubts about marrying Charles.
Charles and Diana separated in 1992 and finalized their divorce in August 1996. They welcomed two children together, Prince William and Prince Harry. Diana died in August 1997 after a high-speed car crash in Paris.

Diana’s uncertainty about her marriage was not unfounded, as Charles had a lingering relationship with another old flame, Camilla Parker Bowles. The couple dated briefly in the early 1970s before Charles joined the Royal Navy in 1972. Camilla went on to marry Andrew Parker Bowles the following year, and they have two children together. Charles and Camilla remained friends for years, which led to an affair while they were both still married.

During a 1994 interview, Charles claimed he was faithful to Diana until their marriage became “irretrievably broken down, us both having tried.” Diana pointed to Camilla being a roadblock during her marriage to Charles, even claiming she found a bracelet he had made for her the night before their wedding.
Despite a lot of drama and heartbreak, Charles and Camilla finally wed in April 2005.

1958 Box Office Flop, Based on a Historic Tragedy, Ranked Among ‘Best Movies of All Time’
A 1958 British film about the sinking of the RMS Titanic, A Night to Remember, is now considered one of the greatest movies of all time, despite being a box office disappointment when it was first released.
The historical disaster film, directed by Roy Ward Baker and adapted from Walter Lord’s 1955 book, was released on July 3, 1958. It recreated the tragic sinking of the Titanic on April 15, 1912, after the ship hit an iceberg during its maiden voyage.
At the time of release, the film did not perform strongly in cinemas. It struggled commercially, partly because of its high production cost and modest audience turnout. However, over time, its reputation changed dramatically as critics and historians recognized its accuracy and storytelling strength.
Today, A Night to Remember holds a rare 100% Tomatometer score from 23 critics and a 91% Popcornmeter rating from over 10,000 viewers on Rotten Tomatoes. It is ranked 271st out of 300 greatest films of all time on the platform, a major shift from its early box office performance.

The film is widely praised for its realistic and documentary-style approach. Instead of focusing on fictional love stories, it shows the disaster through the experiences of real passengers and crew members aboard the ship.
According to historical accounts and reviews, the film “depicts the events of the night in a documentary style in considerable detail,” focusing especially on Second Officer Charles Lightoller, played by Kenneth More.
The story shows how warnings about ice were ignored, how the ship struck the iceberg, and how panic spread as passengers realized there were not enough lifeboats.
A major reason for the film’s strong reputation is its commitment to historical accuracy. It used real Titanic blueprints for its sets and consulted survivors and experts during production, making it one of the most carefully researched films of its time.
The Movie Buff described it as one of the most faithful Titanic retellings ever made, often calling it “the most accurate of all Titanic films” and “the definitive Titanic tale.”
Unlike many modern disaster films, A Night to Remember avoids dramatic romance or fictional heroes. Instead, it presents dozens of passengers in short, realistic scenes showing how different people reacted during the disaster.
A key emotional moment is the musicians continuing to play as the ship sinks, including the famous hymn often associated with the disaster.
The film also highlights historical figures such as Captain Edward Smith, shipbuilder Thomas Andrews and White Star Line chairman J. Bruce Ismay, as well as fictionalized composite characters based on real passengers.
Even though it failed to become a major commercial success in 1958, A Night to Remember gained respect over time through television broadcasts, home video releases, and film restoration collections.
Modern critics often say it helped shape future disaster films, including later blockbusters about real-world tragedies.
It is now considered a major influence on cinema history and is frequently compared to later Titanic films, especially for its realism and emotional restraint.
One of the reasons the film continues to gain recognition is its focus on human behavior during crisis rather than spectacle alone. It shows how fear, bravery and survival instincts shaped the actions of people from different social classes aboard the ship.
Experts and historians also credit the film for helping preserve early public understanding of the Titanic disaster before the wreck was discovered in 1985, which later corrected some historical assumptions.
Despite its age and black-and-white format, many viewers still find its storytelling powerful and emotionally realistic.
Inside Kate Middleton's Last Trip to Italy When She Was 18 Ahead of Her Royal Visit to Reggio Emilia
Kate Middleton is heading to Northern Italy in mid-May for her first official overseas working visit since announcing her cancer diagnosis in 2024, and it has been 26 years since her last trip to the European country.
Before she was the Princess of Wales — or met her husband Prince William — Kate spent a gap year in Italy in 2000 when she was 18. After completing her high school studies at Marlborough College, she jetted off to Florence to study Italian and art history at the British Institute of Florence, the oldest overseas British cultural institute in the world.

In addition to attending classes, Kate had a typical student experience touring historical landmarks and taking day trips around Italy. She also spent time having fun with her classmates at one of the city’s most popular bars, known as the Art Bar, in the Santa Maria Novella district. Known for its cocktails and cool vibes, it’s still a favorite of students and tourists.

While Kate enjoyed evenings out, a friend from her gap year told The Daily Mirror she would “never ever let herself get out of control.”
“She would like a glass of wine but couldn’t really handle her drink,” the friend said. “She’d get giggly and silly after a few glasses, so then she would stop.”
As far as finding any love connections during her time abroad, another friend told OK! Magazine, Kate wasn’t interested. “Italian men can be quite persuasive, but Catherine would never overreact to compliments. She definitely was not a giggly sort of girl batting her eyelashes,” the second friend said.
However, she was nursing a broken heart at that time in her life. According to royal biographer Katie Nicholl, Kate was "heartbroken" when her high school boyfriendHarry Blakelock broke up with her before her gap year.
Kate’s 2000 trip to Italy was a lifetime ago, as she is now the Princess of Wales and married with three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. This time around, she will be going to Reggio Emilia in northern Italy on official Palace business from May 13 to May 14 to learn about early childhood education.
The royal sees learning the Reggio Emilia method as a "significant next step" for her Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, her office at Kensington Palace told People. Kate will spend time with educators, parents, children, and civic and business leaders to see how they implement the method.
“The Princess is very much looking forward to visiting Italy next week and seeing first-hand how the Reggio Emilia approach creates environments where nature and loving human relationships come together to support children’s development," her spokesperson said in a statement.
The Princess of Wales launched The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood in 2021, in an effort to use research-backed information to change how society views and prioritizes the first years of life.
'You Can't Think of the Negatives': 'Love on the Spectrum' Star Tyler White Opens Up About Autism and Music
"You can't think of the negatives; you've got to think of the positives," Love on the Spectrum star Tyler White tells his fiancée Madison Marilla in a new YouTube video, where she interviews him about his autism journey. "I don't want to hide or curse what God has blessed me with."
Tyler White is a fan-favorite cast member on the Netflix docuseries. Known for his down-to-earth personality and Southern charm, White is a DJ and musician. He has built a career around music—something deeply tied to how he experiences the world.
White was diagnosed with autism at just three years old. In the recent YouTube video, he reflects on how autism has shaped the way he learns and processes information—especially through sound. Music has been central to White's development; he famously taught himself to play drums "by ear," meaning he learned not through written instruction but by listening and repeating rhythms.
"I learn music keys just by hearing them," he explains when Marilla asks him to expound upon what it means to be an auditory learner.
View this post on InstagramHis auditory learning style is something White highlights as a strength, not a limitation. His intense cognitive focus, exceptional pattern recognition, and heightened sensory perception have allowed him to connect with the world through the music he makes.
After all, while some individuals with autism are strong auditory learners, Marilla puts it best that "autism presents itself in very different ways," adding that she, for example, is more of a visual and hands-on learner. An estimated 80 percent of people with autism actually experience atypical auditory processing, according to Autism Speaks. This means that they may struggle with hypersensitivity (especially to high-pitched sounds) and/or have difficulty distinguishing speech from background noise.
Still, research from empirical studies suggests that many people with autism possess musical potential largely because of those sensitivities and enhanced pitch analysis skills—and researchers argue that this "unexploited potential ... can and should be developed."
Leveraging his sound skills is one clear example of how White has turned his autism diagnosis into something positive: a career in music and, soon, a marriage with a partner who loves country classics as much as he does.

White started out playing the drums in church, but he didn't start singing publicly until he was 13 years old. He played percussion in the high school band and sang in his high school choir. In 2014, he won the Van Buren County Fair Youth Talent Competition in the Vocal Solo category, earning him the spot to sing at the Arkansas State Fair in Little Rock.
Flash forward to 2017, and Tyler launched DJ TyWy, his own wedding and event DJ business.
"I always enjoyed going to weddings, school dances, and proms," he writes on DJ TyWy's website. "One day, I began to think of a way to play all types of music for a living, and DJing was the first thing that came to my mind."
He DJed his first gig on September 23, 2017, in Clinton, Arkansas—his cousin's wedding. Since then, he has not only performed at weddings, school dances, and proms. White has emceed at major Autism Speaks events and performed at places as big as the Grand Ole Opry.
While White and Marilla share with fans their different learning styles, fans have responded with just how much they have to learn from the "perfect pair."
"Couple goals," one viewer commented. "The world could learn a lot from you both.

It combines high density MDF boards with a sturdy wood frame, and each shelf is reinforced with crossbars underneath. This design supports up to 45 pounds per shelf, so you can confidently store heavier items like books, plants, or decor.
In terms of size, the bookcase measures 67.4 inches tall, 31.5 inches wide, and 12.8 inches deep. It offers generous storage space while still maintaining a relatively slim footprint. One unit works well on its own, but placing two side by side can create a more dramatic, built-in look along a larger wall.
The farmhouse-inspired look blends wood grain textures with a subtle industrial flair. The black metal brackets on each corner bring both visual interest and a bit of edge to the overall look. Iconic ’90s Actor From ‘The Terminator’ Turns 86
Veteran American actor Lance Henriksen, widely recognized for his intense roles in science fiction, action and horror films, has turned 86 years old.
Best known for his unforgettable performances in The Terminator, Aliens, and the hit 1990s TV series Millennium, Henriksen remains one of Hollywood’s most enduring genre icons with a career spanning more than six decades.
His birthday marks another milestone in a life and career defined by resilience, reinvention and a long list of unforgettable characters that helped shape modern sci-fi storytelling.
Henriksen became a familiar face to audiences in the 1980s and 1990s through a series of cult and blockbuster roles. One of his most widely remembered appearances came in The Terminator (1984), where he played Detective Hal Vukovich. Although the role was not the lead, it placed him inside a film that would become one of the most influential science fiction movies in history.

His career reached another level when he starred as the android Bishop in Aliens (1986), directed by James Cameron. The character became a fan favorite and was later expanded across the franchise. Henriksen also portrayed related characters in Alien 3 and Alien vs. Predator, connecting him deeply to the long-running sci-fi universe.
In television, he earned critical acclaim for playing Frank Black in the series Millennium (1996–1999). The role of a former FBI profiler who could “see” into the minds of killers earned him three Golden Globe nominations and solidified his reputation as a serious dramatic actor in genre storytelling.
Beyond film and television, Henriksen built a strong legacy in voice acting. His deep, gravelly voice became a signature feature in animation and gaming.
He voiced Kerchak in Disney’s Tarzan (1999) and later took on major roles in popular video games, including Mass Effect, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and Detroit: Become Human. In many of these projects, he played commanding or emotionally complex figures, reinforcing his on-screen persona of authority and mystery.
His performance as Admiral Hackett in the Mass Effect trilogy is especially remembered by gamers, while his role as General Shepherd in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 introduced him to an even wider global audience.
Henriksen’s success is even more striking given his difficult early life. Born in Manhattan in 1940, he experienced poverty, foster care, and a disrupted education. He left school early and was illiterate until adulthood, later teaching himself to read through scripts.
Before acting, he worked a wide range of jobs, including laboring on ships and mural painting. His path into acting began through set design, eventually leading him to stage work and then film roles.
Despite these challenges, he steadily built one of the most recognizable careers in genre cinema. His work has earned awards such as a Saturn Award and multiple nominations across television and film.
Even at 86, Henriksen has remained creatively active. In recent years, he has continued appearing in independent films and voice roles, including projects like Falling (2020), which earned him a Canadian Screen Award nomination.
Henriksen’s career is notable not just for its length, but for its influence across multiple generations of entertainment. From The Terminator and Aliens to Millennium and modern video games, he has helped define what it means to be a sci-fi and horror character actor.
Now turning 86, Lance Henriksen stands as one of Hollywood’s most enduring figures, an actor whose work continues to resonate with fans of classic and modern genre storytelling alike.

‘NCIS: Origins’ Showrunners Break Down That Shocking Finale Kidnapping — And the Gibbs/Lala Kiss (Exclusive)
SPOILER ALERT! The following gets into events from the Season 2 finale of NCIS:Origins, "Hollywood Ending."
The Season 1 NCIS: Origins finale was a dramatic cliffhanger not to be forgotten when Lala (Mariel Molino) flipped her vehicle in what appeared to be a lethal crash as she swerved to avoid hitting a young girl who was in the street. And it wasn’t until Season 2 began that viewers learned her fate.
Season 2 might not be quite as dramatic a cliffhanger in the way it was filmed. It was quieter than the spectacular car crash, but it also had serious implications. An unknowing Randy (Caleb Foote), who was not in any particular jeopardy during the episode, was kidnapped with a black bag thrown over his head and spirited away with no understanding as to why.
What we can now tell you is that Randy’s kidnapping was a result of all the data entry of cases he’s inputting into the computer. We thought he was just entering past cases so that NIS would be able to search for information. But it turns out that he was also entering something that is a threat to someone.
“He was entering all the past cases, and then when he’s hopped up on the caffeine, he talks about how he finished that and is now digitizing all of the evidence logs,” co-showrunner Gina Lucita Monreal exclusively tells Parade. “So, all the evidence across the entire agency, he’s helping to put into one location, and that act is what we think gets him in trouble. And how that all transpires and what exactly was the tipping point that made him a person of interest for whoever took him, we don’t know that yet.”
The fact that Randy is doing entries from all the NIS offices worldwide will make it more difficult for the team to narrow down the reason why he was taken and locate and rescue him before it’s too late.
“It could be [global or] local,” Monreal says. “It could be either. We haven’t been very specific about exactly what he’s inputting or how he’s digitizing these files. But again, that is also going on, it’s what was happening in reality at the time, but we haven’t pinpointed exactly yet what the exact thing that he was inputting that got him in trouble.”
As the “Hollywood Ending” script was Monreal’s final script for NCIS: Origins, it will be up to showrunner David J. North and his staff of writers to flesh it out in Season 3, and we’re looking forward to that. But what inquiring minds really want to know is what happened after that kiss between Gibbs (Austin Stowell) and Lala. We’ve been waiting for two seasons for that moment.
“Everybody has to tune in next year, we don’t want to give anything away as far as where that’s going,” North tells Parade. “But the power behind what Gina wrote for me in saying, ‘I wish it could have lasted forever,’ is hearing Gibbs say those words. We all know it didn’t last forever, of course, so that’s not a reveal. But to hear those words come out of Mark Harmon/Gibbs’ mouth, it’s so vulnerable and wonderful, and a very special way to end the season.”
Gibbs, of course, is still married to Diane (Kathleen Kenny). They haven’t signed divorce papers yet, which could be one reason that Gibbs and Lala are cautious in their relationship, but the two have definite chemistry. It looked as if we were going to lose Lala again when she left to apply to be sheriff of the small California town where WITSEC moved Manuel "Manny" Santiago (Miguel Gomez), but then she came back and just as she arrived home, Gibbs showed up at her apartment, and they got their happy ending.
Except then Gibbs says, “I wish it could have lasted forever,’ so how long does it last? Despite pushing for an answer, North and Monreal wouldn’t commit to even saying they had one night together. That after the kiss they went into Lala's apartment and made love for the first time.
“You can’t assume anything,” Monreal says. “Who knows what happened after we cut to black? That’s why we’ve got to savor that kiss. It was an epic moment for the two of them.”
Following is more of our chat with Monreal and North as they dissect what happened in the Season 2 finale, but also answered some more generic questions about the status of Diane and why Tom Morrow is being added to the story at this point in time.
The other threat that’s hanging over this episode is that the Camp Pendleton office of NIS may be shut down, and Franks (Kyle Schmid) has what to me seems like a weird reaction. When he was asked by Cliff Wheeler (Patrick Fischler) to help try to save the office, he doesn’t want to take any responsibility for that. What’s going on in his head?
Monreal: Well, I think, as he says, he is a person that gets in the dirt. He’s hands on, he is on the ground level. He and Cliff came up together. Cliff ends up being the SAC, and Franks prefers to be in the dirt, as he says. He wants to be on the ground level; he wants hands-on, this is how he operates. He does not go into meetings in a tie and try to argue things with the bureaucracy, as he says.
So, he says, “That’s not my job, that’s not what I do, that’s not what I’m good at. And I also have two dead sons of a Marine, that’s my job.” I think that he knows that’s not who he is, but there’s also a sense of helplessness in a way, that this is all above his head and there’s nothing he can do. And that is very overwhelming to him, which is why he blows up at Gibbs in the locker room later, clearly it matters to him. I think he feels helpless, one, and also that it’s not his job.
I think it’s more the helplessness maybe, because I don’t think he wants to move from Oceanside. He likes his team, he doesn’t want to see that...
Monreal: He does not want to lose his team, but what do you want him to do? He can’t. Is he going to put on a suit and go into a meeting and try to get…
North: Yeah, and in doing that he’d be ignoring the case.
Gina: The case of these two dead kids.
David: That’s what he does, and that’s what he focuses on, and also, he has Wheeler up there to do all that. That’s just who Franks is.
I enjoyed the story of how the “C” got added to NCIS that you created with the staff coming up with a reason to keep the Camp Pendleton Office open. Is that based on any truth or was that totally made up?
Moral: At this time, they really did add the C and do some rebranding and changed the agency and got a civilian director because of a scandal that was going on, all that is true. How they got the C, we took creative license with that and brought our characters into that storyline.

Abe Pruitt (Christopher Backus) was arrested again. Will it stick this time do you think, or is he too good of a villain for this to be the end of him?
North Well, you never know. Abe is such a great character, and Christopher Backus who plays him is so wonderful, so this is sort of the end of that story for now, but I would say maybe. You never know when we’re going to see Abe Pruitt stick his head out again.
Because he could put stuff in motion from prison, right?
North: He can do anything.
Gina: Yeah. He’s done it before, right? He’s done it before, put stuff in motion from prison.
Gibbs taking a bullet to save Mason (Philip Winchester), do you think he thinks, “Oh, I’m just doing my job?” Or does he also maybe think, "Mike Franks helped save my life by giving me this job and making me part of his team," and so he owed him, and this is part of his way to repay that?
Monreal: I think it’s both. I think that Gibbs is the type of character who would probably take a bullet for anybody, in my mind.
North: Yeah.
Monreal: But I also think that this meant something more to Gibbs because of his relationship to Franks, and certainly to Franks, it meant a great deal. And so, as we continue to tell this story, we are showing how Franks and Gibbs became the Franks and Gibbs that we know in NCIS. They are so bonded, and as we get these new levels of their relationship, we’re trying to chip away at showing why, why they are so bonded. This is one of those elements.
Franks does say thank you.
Monreal: He does. In his own Franks ways, he does.
I love the comedy with Franks and Agent Swanson (Hannah Barefoot), and in the finale, it looked like he might be making progress. He might be wearing her down a little bit. What do you think?
North: I think they’re adorable together, the idea of them, so we’ll see where that story goes, but we definitely haven’t seen the last of FBI Swanson.
Do you think that the reason she wouldn’t let him breach the compound alone was strictly business, or also because she sort of likes him?
Monreal: When she stops him, yeah. When she stops him and says, “I can’t let you do it,” there were some sparks between them in that moment, I felt. Yeah, I thought they played it beautifully. You can see there’s this sort of love/hate thing between them, which is just so fun to watch.
You don’t want to give away the Randy storyline for when we come back next season, but can you talk about will there be a time jump? What can you say?
North: Stay tuned. I mean, I think he’s one of the most beloved personalities on all of television, he just brings joy to everyone and he’s in real peril here. So, you’ll have to tune into Season 3 to see what happens to good old Randy.
I want to talk about Diane. You had Gibbs and her get married really early on, and they haven’t been married long. I thought that they were married much longer, and I thought that they were still married when Gibbs moved to DC. Otherwise, why would Diane go to DC if she wasn’t married to Gibbs, and she had this great job in LA?
Monreal: So, they are married for longer, and we are following canon there. We followed this very closely, but they’re technically still married at this point. He says, “She’s going to file for divorce and I’m going to sign the papers,” but he also says, “I don’t know why we didn’t want to sign the papers right away. Maybe we didn’t want that finality on it.” So, technically, they are still married, though they’re separated.
Tom Morrow has come in so early. I was talking to Steve Binder about why he killed off Rocky Carroll's character, and we were talking about how Vance was the longest-running director, and Tom Morrow wasn’t a director for that long, but he’s still the director when Gibbs moves to DC.
Monreal: Right, yeah, he is. Again, canon can disagree with itself, but it is in canon that he was the director at this time when they brought in a civilian director.
So, it happened that same year in real life, too?
Monreal: Real life, yes. They brought in a civilian director, and the name was changed and all that during this time period. So yeah, we are sticking to reality, also sticking to the canon there.

Takis Maker Just Launched a New 'Simple Ingredients' Snack—and It's a Big Shift
You've probably heard of Takis. The rolled tortilla chips became one of the biggest snack sensations of the last decade thanks to their intense heat, bold flavors, and social media-fueled popularity. What many shoppers may not realize is that the snack is made by Barcel, the Mexico-based company, now moving in a noticeably different direction with its newest launch.
Barcel just introduced Mi Tierra, a new tortilla strip snack line crafted in Mexico, made with simpler ingredients, and positioned around more everyday-style snacking. While Takis built its identity around bold, over-the-top flavor experiences, Mi Tierra features simple ingredients and no artificial flavors or colors, according to a press release from the company. But what makes the launch stand out isn't just the ingredient list—it's how different the overall approach feels from the brand identity most consumers associate with Takis.
😋😋SIGN UP to get delicious recipes, handy kitchen hacks & more in our daily Pop Kitchen newsletter🍳🍔
Instead of emphasizing the extreme, Mi Tierra leans into a more traditional, family-style approach to snacking. The brand describes the tortilla strips as designed for sharing around the table, pairing with meals, or enjoying during everyday moments at home. Even visually, the branding feels calmer and more understated compared to the bright, intense aesthetic that helped make Takis famous.
The launch also reflects a broader shift happening across the snack aisle right now. More consumers are looking for products with recognizable ingredients and formulations that feel less processed, while still wanting convenience and flavor. Mi Tierra appears designed to meet that middle ground.
For a company so closely tied to one of the loudest snack brands on shelves, Mi Tierra stands out as a surprisingly different move.
What Is Mi Tierra? View this post on InstagramMi Tierra is a new tortilla strip snack line from Barcel USA, the company behind Takis and part of Grupo Bimbo's snack division. According to the company, the strips are crafted in Mexico from simple, high-quality ingredients and intended to serve as both a snack and a versatile addition to meals and dips.
The launch includes three flavors: Sea Salt, Pico de Gallo and Hint of Lime.
Unlike Takis, which built much of its popularity around bold heat and shock-value flavor intensity, Mi Tierra appears positioned around familiarity and everyday snacking.
Related: The Genius Way to Make Guacamole 10x Better, According to an Award-Winning Chef
Why the Launch Feels Different From TakisTakis built a reputation around excess in the best possible way. The snacks are intensely flavored, brightly colored, and designed to stand out immediately on shelves and social media feeds alike.
Mi Tierra takes almost the opposite approach.
Rather than emphasizing shock value or extreme flavor intensity, the new line appears to focus more on familiarity and balance. It's still positioned as a flavorful snack, but one that feels more grounded and less novelty-driven than Takis.
That contrast is what makes the launch feel notable. Barcel isn't replacing Takis, but it is expanding into a very different snacking style.
Simpler Ingredients Are Becoming a Bigger FocusMi Tierra also arrives during a period where many food brands are moving toward simpler ingredient lists and more pantry-style familiarity.
Across the food industry, companies have increasingly introduced products that avoid artificial colors and flavors while leaning into recognizable ingredients and more traditional flavor profiles. In many cases, the goal isn't necessarily to position products as health foods, but rather to create snacks that feel more approachable for everyday eating.
That's part of what makes Mi Tierra notable.
For a company so strongly associated with one of the boldest snack brands on shelves, the launch represents a meaningful shift in tone—and possibly a sign of where parts of the snack industry could be heading next.
Why Mi Tierra Could Be One to WatchNew snack launches happen constantly, but Mi Tierra feels different because of who's behind it.
When a company known for one of the most recognizable spicy snack brands in the country suddenly pivots toward something simpler and more traditional, people notice. Whether Mi Tierra becomes as culturally recognizable as Takis remains to be seen, but the launch reflects how much consumer expectations around snacking continue to evolve.
‘Summer House’s Shocking Last 2 Minutes Go Nuclear as Kyle Cooke Hits His Breaking Point
He told his Summer House friends his business was on the brink and his marriage was cracking, but it was Lindsay Hubbard’s dinner-table push that finally blew the dam Kyle Cooke had been desperately trying to hold together.
In what may have been the most explosive moment this season, Kyle is pressed about his DJ career at Lindsay’s “freedom dinner,” which she renamed the “lost supper,” where she challenged everyone at the table to name what they lost and found that summer.
After an emotional round robin—including KJ Dillard’s heart-wrenching revelation that he hadn’t felt that kind of friendship or brotherhood since his brother’s death—the game eventually turned to Kyle and, in a way, to his now-estranged wife, Amanda Batula.
“Kyle lost his wedding ring, but he found his DJ career,” Lindsay says, giving Amanda the thumbs up.
Crickets.
Looking stunned and exhausted from defending his DJ career, Kyle slowly descended into a rising rage as Lindsay continued to needle him, seemingly in Amanda’s defense, saying she wasn’t part of his career shift discussion. Kyle revealed at the table that he was in the process of securing a manager and would be performing in Las Vegas.
The table looked stunned as Lindsay asked Kyle if he had run the decision by Amanda or if he had made it on his own. Kyle tried to deflect, saying Amanda knew, but Lindsay pressed further, asking whether they had discussed it “as a partner with your wife.”
Amanda sat across the table, giggling, seemingly amused by Lindsay’s interrogation. Tension continued to build among the group, while Kyle, struggling to keep his composure, continued to be peppered with questions and advice from Lindsay.
At his boiling point, Kyle said he was tired of his DJ career being the “butt of every joke this summer,” but Lindsay continued, pointing out that he wasn’t showing traits of someone ready for a serious relationship and family life.
“The last seven years of my life, I just worked my ass off with no joy,” Kyle said after explaining that DJing is the one thing that makes him happy. “I feel like I’m under attack. This is how I’ve felt all summer long.”
He begged them to stop ganging up on him and then...“f--- you,” Kyle is seen saying to Amanda across the table as Ben Waddell tried to explain how Kyle would make DJing work.
Amanda started to nervously laugh, and the table erupted into an argument. West Wilson, now in a relationship with Amanda, moved his chair closer in a protective gesture as Kyle’s temper escalated.
“In a partnership, you pull weight, she doesn’t pull any weight,” Kyle said angrily. “I’m f---ing losing my mind! I’ll smack tables all I f---ing want! You have no f---ing idea!”
The room turned more chaotic as Kyle jumped from his chair and walked away. Carl Radke tried to calm things down by telling Kyle to “chill out,” which only added fuel to the fire.
“F--- everybody!” Kyle screamed. “I’m so sick and tired of normalizing how much s--- I have to deal with. F--- off!”
While Carl attempted to relate to Kyle, saying he was dealing with a lot too, it didn’t help. Kyle headed toward the front door with Carl and several friends close behind.
As Kyle angrily flung open the door, he set his sights on Carl, ready to come at him, setting up the summer’s long-awaited confrontation between the two friends.
Summer House is on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
‘Will Trent’ Season 5 Looks Very Different After Major Cast Death and GBI Shake-Up
It’s no surprise that ABC gave another year to Will Trent after the emotional roller coaster ride that was Season 4. Will (Ramón Rodriguez) faced the abduction of his uncle. Angie (Erika Christensen) and Seth (Scott Foley) got married and are about to have a baby. Faith (Iantha Richardson) had her heart broken. James Ulster (Greg Germann) popped up in a most unusual way, but the major heartbreaker of the season was the shocking death of Amanda (Sonja Sohn) which, obviously, will have major repercussions.
Season 5 will need to deal with the ramifications of all these life-changing incidents and take us on more journeys as Amanda’s replacement at the GBI is revealed, we find out what kind of mother Angie will be, and how Will will cope with all the changes in his life, which will be hard for someone who resists change.
Here is everything we know so far about Will Trent Season 5.
When is the Will Trent Season 5 release date?No official date has been set as yet. But Will Trent normally has a midseason release date, so look for Season 5 most likely in January 2027.
What time will Will Trent air?Unless ABC does some major restructuring, Will Trent will air at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Episodes will air next day on Hulu.
Is there a trailer for Will Trent Season 5?There is no trailer as yet for Season 5 of Will Trent, as it hasn’t actually filmed yet. When the trailer for the new season is released, we’ll post it immediately. Keep checking back.
Who’s in the Will Trent cast for Season 5?While not confirmed, it is likely that the following will all be returning:
Ramón Rodriguez as Will TrentWill, whose trademark is 3-piece suits, continues to be assigned some of the GBI’s most difficult cases because he can read a crime scene like no one else, a skill he has learned to help cope with his dyslexia after being abandoned at birth and raised in the harshness of Atlanta’s foster care system. But Will has loosened up a bit since we first saw him in Season 1. He now owns his dyslexia and has programs to help him with workarounds. In Season 5, expect Will to be the walking wounded with the death of his mentor Amanda and the guilt he feels from his uncle having been kidnapped.
Erika Christensen as Angie PolaskiLike Will, Angie was raised in the foster care system and like him, she is in law enforcement, but she’s a member of the Atlanta Police Department. Angie was her own worst enemy when it comes to her personal life, but in Season 4, she found love with Dr. Seth McDale and gave birth to a baby girl named Edie.
Iantha Richardson as Faith MitchellFaith is a former member of the Atlanta Police Department, who was brought over to the GBI by her godmother Amanda Wagner to work with Will. Who is leaving Will Trent in Season 5?Sonja Sohn, who played GBI Deputy Director Amanda Wagner, was killed off in Season 4, Episode 15, "The Blank Expanse of Nothing," in a shocking twist.
She posted on Instagram (see the full video below), “Once you get the pink slip, it’s just a job. I got a job like you got a job. It’s just a job. Actors are really low people on the totem pole when it comes down to the big structure. When you get a pink slip, you don’t ask about it. You just say goodbye.”
View this post on InstagramAlso leaving is Dr. Seth McDale (Scott Foley), who died as the result of a car crash on the way to the hospital. The car he and Angie were in was T-boned and, while Seth initially appeared to be okay, it later turned out that he had massive internal bleeding. So, he left his daughter, a girl named Edie, without a father, and Angie spiraled into a depression.
As for why two deaths in one season on the hit series, executive producer Liz Heldens told TV Insider, "Going into Season 5, it just really felt like we needed a reset and some new energy, and some new dynamics… These were really hard and emotional decisions for the writers. There was a lot of back and forth in the room, but, eventually, we did what we thought was best for the future of the show. But yeah, both of them are heartbreakers for sure."
Are there any spoilers for Season 5 of Will Trent? The show will have to officially replace Amanda, which will drastically change the dynamic of the GBI office, which isn’t exactly a spoiler. But who that replacement will be will have a big effect on Will and Faith, both of whom were at the GBI because of Amanda.
It also remains to be seen what type of mother Angie will turn out to be and how big a roll Will play in the baby's life now that her father is dead.

1967 Ballad Ranked Among 'Greatest Songs of the '60s' Hit the Charts Three Times in Less Than a Decade
It's a pretty major accomplishment for a song to hit the charts once, but one classic '60s love song managed to return to the charts twice after its initial release...in less than ten years: "Never My Love."
Penned by songwriting siblings Don and Dick Addrisi, “Never My Love” was first recorded by the California pop group The Association (along with members of the Wrecking Crew). The Association's version hit #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1967, and while “The Letter” by the Box Tops prevented "Never My Love" from hitting the top spot, it spent three weeks in second place.
Not only that, but this original recording of "Never My Love" went on to become the second most-played song on radio and television of the 20th century in the U.S., according to BMI, with millions of performances amounting to 40 years of continuous airplay as of 1999.
Pitchfork ranked The Association's "Never My Love" at #152 on a list of 200 Greatest Songs of the '60s, with writer David Raposa praising its "wispy melancholy" and calling the song a "reassuring affirmation of amour is a California dream that knows the alarm could go off at any time, which, in a world of silly love songs, makes all the difference."
'Never My Love' has been covered hundreds of timesPerhaps unsurprisingly, given the song's immense popularity, "Never My Love" has been covered multiple times over the decades, but the two most successful versions were recorded within just ten years of the track's initial release.
In 1971, the 5th Dimension's take on "Never My Love" peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100; three years later, in 1974, Swedish rockers Blue Swede made it all the way to #7 with their frenetically cheerful rendition.
In 1977, the Addrisi Brothers recorded their own version of the song they wrote, which made it to #20 on the Adult Contemporary chart.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, “Never My Love” has been recorded by over 300 "notable" artists, including Norah Jones & Jakob Dylan, Bryan Adams, Belinda Carlisle, Rita Wilson, Nina Simone, Etta James, Barry Manilow, Nancy Wilson, Johnny Mathis, Andy Williams, Petula Clark, Engelbert Humperdinck and many more.

1962 Love Song Became a No. 1 Hit 64 Years Ago Today
The Shirelles' 1962 classic "Soldier Boy" secured the number one spot on Billboard's Hot 100 on May 5, 1962. The hit, which made its debut on the chart at 63rd place on March 24, 1962, tells the story of a woman deeply in love with and loyal to her romantic partner, who has joined the armed forces.
In a 2019 interview on Perspectives with Daren Jaime, Beverly Lee, an original member of The Shirelles, said her newly formed group re-recorded "Soldier Boy" as a "tribute to the vets."
"I'm a soldier girl at heart," said Lee, now 84.
She also said she believed the original group's top songs, like "Soldier Boy," "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," and "Mama Said," have a timeless quality because they "never lost [their] meaning" and have "meaningful" lyrics.
During the Perspectives with Daren Jaime interview, Lee noted that she and her fellow original Shirelles, Shirley Owens, Doris Coley, and Addie "Micki" Harris, formed the group during their years at a New Jersey high school. She said her classmate's mother, record-label owner Florence Greenberg, took an interest in them after she heard one of their songs.
"Her mom heard the song and offered us a contract," said Lee.
Lee also said that she and the other members of the Shirelles didn't expect to find such success.
"We were young school girls until we became 21, and we were having fun. We love what we did. We were troopers. We were adventurous. We love to travel, and it was just a blast for us. But we never thought that it would come to this point," said Lee in the interview.
She then referenced that she went from being a high school student to "all of a sudden, traveling all over the world" performing in front of audiences.
"And they let us travel throughout the world, touching people's lives and changing people's lives," continued Lee.
