'The Pitt' Fans Heckled Isa Briones During 'Just in Time' Musical

Mon, 05/04/2026 - 12:16pm

The Pitt fandom is a passionate one. They don't hold back their opinions of the medical show's characters online, and apparently in person. Isa Briones addressed fans about their behavior during her Broadway show, Just in Time.

Isa Briones Calls 'The Pitt' Yellers 'Disrespectful' Isa Briones as Trinity Santos and Noah Wyle as Dr. Robby in ‘The Pitt.’

Briones, 27, plays Dr. Trinity Santos on The Pitt. Her character was introduced, making harsh comments to other medical students in season 1. She also rightfully called out the bad behavior of multiple characters, which made her a polarizing character.

The actress is playing Connie Francis on stage between seasons, and used her Instagram Story on April 2, to address fans in the audience, according to Variety.

"HEY HEY HEY!: started the message in white texts over a black background. "Once again, Broadway is not a circus. Do not yell whatever you want at the performers. Yelling 'when are you going to finish your charts' before I sing 'Who's Sorry Now?' is f---ing disrespectful to the performers onstage and your fellow audience members. Y'all are pissin' me off."

Season 2 ended with a nice surprise for Santos. She blows off steam with Dr. Melissa King (Taylor Dearden) by singing "You Oughta Know" by Alanis Morissette at karaoke. It's unlikely The Pitt fans will get to see Broines' singing abilities again.

The heckle about Briones finishing her charts was in reference to her character's struggle at the task throughout season 2. It was a somewhat funny subplot against the chaos of the hospital

Fans of the HBO show weren't happy with Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) either. The character was criticized for being too harsh on Dr. Mohan (Supriya Ganesh).

Briones replaced Sarah Hyland in the musical at the Square Theatre. Her Broadway debut was playing Eurydice in Hadestown in 2024.

Spike Lee Defends Michael Jackson Biopic Over Renewed Controversies: 'Worldwide, People Showed Their Love'

Mon, 05/04/2026 - 12:14pm

Many fans and critics might find themselves a bit divided over the recent Michael Jackson-focused biopic Michael, but director Spike Lee is defending the new musical drama with predictably strong intensity.

During a recent interview with CNN, the 69-year-old Lee revealed that he had seen the new movie on two separate occasions, confirming that he had indeed "loved it." In that same conversation, the Do the Right Thing filmmaker defended the film for its handling of Jackson's most publicized controversies, including allegations related to child abuse.

As Lee saw it, the bulk of Michael is centered around the King of Pop's early life, notably ending in 1988, five years before the first allegation came out against Jackson. Because of this, Lee saw little reason for fans or critics to accuse Michael as glossing over the accusations, given the fact that said controversy did not occur in the span of the movie's time frame.

“First of all, if you’re a movie critic, and you’re complaining about the stuff — all this other stuff — but the movie ends at ‘88,” Lee explained. “The stuff you’re talking about, accusations, happen [later]. So you’re critiquing the film on something that you want in, but it doesn’t work in the timeline of the film. But people showed up. Worldwide, people showed their love.”

Of course, Lee also harbored a long-standing friendship with the pop star, something he went on to directly acknowledge in his conversation with CNN.

“I miss Mike. I miss Prince," Lee said, referencing Jackson and fellow music legend Prince. "I mean, these are my brothers. I worked with both of them. Both beautiful, beautiful people.”

While critics themselves remain divided over Michael's narrative, the movie has nevertheless proven popular enough among mainstream moviegoers. Since its release on April 24 in the U.S., the movie has earned an estimated $424 million at the box office, becoming the fourth highest-grossing movie of 2026 to date.

Whitney Leavitt's Husband Conner to Make His Own Stage Debut This Month

Mon, 05/04/2026 - 12:11pm

As Dancing with the Stars' alum Whitney Leavitt just wrapped her stint as the star of 'Chicago: The Musical,' her husband, Conner, is stepping in for his own stage debut.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast member, who's become the embodiment of #husbandgoals while Whitney performed on bothDWTSand on Broadway, scored an Off-Broadway role in the show '11 to Midnight,' starting Friday, May 8.

"I'm honored to be making my stage debut with my friends over at 11 to Midnight," Conner exclusively told Parade. "Having the opportunity to perform alongside such a talented group of dancers every night is going to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience."

View this post on Instagram

Playing at New York's Orpheum Theater, '11 to Midnight' is "told through a mix of iconic pop hits and the unexpected musical rhythms of everyday life, put into original compositions," according to a press release. The show was created by viral dance duo Cost n’ Mayor (Austin and Marideth Telenko) and is complete with street-style dance numbers.

"I'm grateful to Cost n' Mayor and the whole team behind the production for helping me step into my own as a dancer and performer," Conner added.

Glee star Heather Morris and Dance Moms alum Nia Sioux will are also starring in the show.

Conner, who shares three kids with Whitney, has made a name for himself both on the Hulu show and as an all-around supportive husband as the mom-turned-reality-star has gone from filming SLOMW, to becoming a semi-finalist on DWTS, and has continued to pursue other ventures, including a holiday rom-com premiering later this year.

The news of Conner's new role though comes as Whitney announced during her last performance of 'Chicago' that she will not be returning to the reality show.

However, in an April Whitney posted a sweet Instagram dedicated to Conner, expressing gratitude for his support.

"Today marked Conner's 20th time seeing me in @chicagomusical 🥹😭 he’s my rock, my foundation, my everything," she wrote. "I can’t believe I only have two weeks left of my run in 'Chicago.' But, I’m so excited to see what’s next for us. I love you so much Conner. Thank you for not only helping me live my dream, but believing in it."

Conner will be performing in '11 to Midnight' until May 27.

Dollar General's $8 Embossed Glass Pitcher Looks Like It Was Passed Down From Grandma

Mon, 05/04/2026 - 12:05pm

If you love Anthropologie, one thing that might draw you to that store is the way it delivers a vintage, lived-in aesthetic without having to rummage through countless items at an actual second-hand store. And with the grandmacore decor style showing no signs of slowing down (no qualms with that over here), more retailers are getting in on that old-world vibe.

Take Dollar General, for example. It's vastly more affordable than Anthropologie, and with its Dolly Parton and Holly Williams collections, it's really tapping into this sweet, southern, collected look. While both lines embrace cheerful color palettes, Williams' is really getting my attention with some intricate-looking pieces that look like grandma could have handed them down. And I mean that in the best way possible.

Holly Williams Clear Tapered Floral Embossed Glass Pitcher, $8 at Dollar General

Dollar General

The Holly Williams Clear Tapered Floral Embossed Glass Pitcher, for example, is something my own grandma could have poured orange juice from when I was a kid. Between the dotted rim around the top and the floral print, this reminds me so much of Bertha's kitchen, I can hardly believe it. And for $8 at Dollar General, it might even be close to the price she paid for the one she owned way back when, too.

Related: Aldi's 12-Piece Kitchen Set Is Exactly What You Need to Make Big-Batch Cooking a Breeze

With its elegant tapered shape, the pitcher can dress up everything from iced tea to brunch mimosas. And, hear me out, what if you bought a few of these to set up a Bellini bar with different fruit purees? OK, it's possible I'm beginning to lose the plot. But I digress, the durable glass construction keeps it sturdy enough for everyday use, while the comfortable handle makes pouring feel easy and secure—not like you're one awkward tilt away from disaster.

Plus, thanks to the smooth spout, you get a cleaner, drip-free pour, which means fewer countertop messes and more effortless hosting energy. It's the kind of pitcher that makes even plain water look prettier.

Dollar General has so many pretty household items to brighten up your space this spring. I've been adding its vibrant, boho-style throw rugs to my cart recently, and you'll love these stylish collapsible boxes that are great for organizing things around the house. But, really, this embossed pitcher has my heart, and I need to buy more so that I can get going on that Bellini bar for Mother's Day.

Which Classic Movie Matches Your Birth Date

Mon, 05/04/2026 - 12:03pm

Grab your popcorn, because it’s time to rewatch the favorite classic movie that aligns with your birth date. Whether it’s an older black-and-white film or something made within the last few decades, your classic movie stands out for a reason. Aside from the phenomenal acting and screenplay, you have a special bond with a classic movie because it mirrors the energy of your birth date. The unique frequency between your birth date and this movie is strengthened by the numerological properties that influence this connection.

Numerologists agree that there’s a classic movie that matches you, based on your birth date. All birth dates can be reduced down to a single-digit number and its numerological traits. Whatever single-digit number your birth date corresponds with will also resonate with a classic movie. Some birth dates will feel called to the Hollywood romances while others pine for dramas and epics. Which classic movie will you be associated with, based on your birth date? Read on to discover your classic movie for birth dates 1 to 31.

RELATED: Which Classic Movie Matches You, Based on Birth Month

Your Classic Movie, Based on Your Birth Date

Check if your date of birth is listed. Disregard birth months.

Born on the 1st, 10th, 19th, or 28th: Casablanca

You’ll always have Casablanca if you’re born on the 1st, 10th, 19th, or 28th. Having one of these birth dates implies you embody the numerological traits of 1. Numerology says 1 is plucky, so you come across as self-assured, courageous, and daring. The explosive energy of Casablanca mirrors your resolve and strength. Rick Blaine’s turmoil over helping his former love and her husband will speak to you on a personal level. You’ll be completely engrossed with Blaine’s journey navigating lost love and sacrifice during wartime as you rewatch Casablanca over and over again.

Born on the 2nd, 11th, 20th, or 29th: Singing in the Rain

The show must go on if you celebrate your birthday on the 2nd, 11th, 20th, or 29th. Your birth date resonates with the numerological attributes of 2, making you a sensitive and loving individual. While there are many evocative classic movies, you’ll never get tired of Singing in the Rain. Not only will you love the musical scores and catchy tunes, but you’ll also fall for Don’s budding romance with Kathy. Watching Singing in the Rain will have you laughing and crying, as this classic movie captures your sentimentality.

Born on the 3rd, 12th, 21st, or 30th: The Wizard of Oz

You’re off to meet the wizard if you’re born on the 3rd, 12th, 21st, or 30th. Each of these birth dates align with 3, which speaks to being curious, open-minded, and adventurous. Your lively spirit and hopeful attitude resonates with The Wizard of Oz. Dorothy’s positive attitude and faith in the wonderful wizard matches your mentality when you’re starting a new venture. Flying monkeys and wicked witches don’t deter you. The Wizard of Oz’s sunny songs, vibrant set, and loveable friends Dorothy and Toto make along the way will have you completely entranced.

Born on the 4th, 13th, 22nd, or 31st: Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Cue “Moon River” for everyone born on the 4th, 13th, 22nd, and 31st. Being born on one of these dates means you embody the tenacity and luxurious taste of 4 in numerology. Working with 4 means being drawn to the finer things in life and not being afraid to go after your desires—much like Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Holly’s wit and zest for life will immediately pull you in, just like every man Holly encounters. It’s no wonder this is your classic movie, since this stunningly aesthetic film embodies your desire for romance, wealth, and affluence.

The Godfather is the classic movie that you cannot refuse when your birthday lands on the 5th, 14th, or 23rd. Numerology says you embrace the grit and excitability of 5, so it’s only natural to be drawn to a cinematic mafia tale. Even if you’re not caught up in a family’s business, you’ll still resonate with the complicated family dynamics, greed, and power imbalances depicted in The Godfather. Aside from the drama, gunfire, and cannolis, you’ll also feel undeniably tough quoting your classic movie.

Born on the 6th, 15th, or 24th: Gone with the Wind

Frankly, my dear, you do give a damn about Gone with the Wind if your birthday falls on the 6th, 15th, or 24th. These three birth dates resonate with the numerological energy of 6, which carries a family-oriented attitude and loving spirit that’s depicted in Gone with the Wind. Your views on family, love, and good versus evil deepen every time you rewatch this stellar series.

Born on the 8th, 17th, or 26th: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

There are two kinds of people: people with certain birth dates who get other classic movies and people born on the 8th, 17th, and 26th who get The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. You’ll resonate with this gunslinging western drama, because your birthday embodies the power and financial destiny of 8. Numerology says your birth date knows how far you and others will go to attain wealth. ‘The Only Impossible Journey Is the One You Never Begin’—80 Inspiring and Funny Senior Yearbook Quotes

Mon, 05/04/2026 - 12:00pm

One of the highlights of ending a school year is getting a copy of your yearbook. Seeing not only the class pictures but also the extra team and candid shots is a fun way to look back on the year and reminisce.

However, even though these pictures are worth a million words, there are still some actual words that get a lot of recognition as well—senior yearbook quotes!

It's a last chance to write and receive messages from high school friends as well as to inspire each other with quotes about memories and the future. These senior quotes will be treasured and revisited well after graduation has passed.

When choosing a quote for your yearbook, you will want to pick something meaningful to you. This could be something personal that you are known for, a quote from a movie or famous person or even a song lyric that you can relate to. The important part is to be thoughtful with your choice, as it will be printed underneath your photo and viewed for years to come!

You could also write a special quote in the back of your friends' yearbook when signing. Because the senior year is so bittersweet, it's the year when yearbooks get exchanged with as many students as possible. After all, you may not be seeing most of them much after graduation.

With close friends, there are probably a lot of memories to write about. However, some students will just be acquaintances that you don't know really well, and it may be more challenging to come up with something to write to them. Whether you write about memories or not, everyone could use a good, inspiring quote to motivate them for the future.

Here is a collection of 80 of the best senior yearbook quotes that you could use to add to someone's book. Some are inspirational, and others are funny. All of them give a good message as you and your friends embark on your future.

What to Write as Your Senior Quote

Senior yearbook quotes, or graduation quotes, can be a myriad of different things. Maybe you want to write something significant about your high school experience that relates to your grades or the sports you were in. Or, if you are feeling bittersweet about leaving high school you may choose a quote like, "When the bell rings, I might actually miss this place!"

A quote can also be simply bequeathing a trait or an item, like your locker to a younger sibling or friend. Some have even chosen their senior quote to be a thank you to a teacher or their parents. Basically, whatever is most meaningful to you will make the perfect quote.

Fans Are Rediscovering a Country Legend Counted Among Bob Dylan's 'Favorite Songwriters'

Mon, 05/04/2026 - 11:56am

America is a fascinating place. A country so massive and so diversely populated has created a cultural stew with a flavor palate the rest of the world simply can't replicate.

We're a nation whose tapestry has been woven by the music we produce. Nothing is as tried and true as the vagabond or the traveler picking up a guitar, and sound tracking the state of the nation. There's a reason we define each decade with the music that came out then.

Nobody is truly as emblematic of the changing tides of the American landscape than Bob Dylan, who truly needs no introduction. Possibly the most influential musician second to The Beatles, Dylan has embodied the American spirit for his whole career with his biting, topical, and personal songwriting. I could go on and on about the ways his career has symbolized the trajectory of America from the '60s onward, but that's not what I'm here to do today.

In 2009, Dylan gave an exclusive interview with The Huffington Post where he named some of his favorite songwriters. A lot of familiar names came up, but the one that I'm focusing on is the legendary John Prine.

Bob Dylan Praised John Prine

Dylan said about the country singer: "Prine's stuff is pure Proustian existentialism. Midwestern mindtrips to the nth degree. And he writes beautiful songs."

Prine came from similar humble beginnings to Dylan. Working as a mail carrier in Chicago, he would visit open mic Folk nights, a venue where Roger Ebert happened to be. Ebert was impressed, and published "Singing Mailman Who Delivers A Powerful Message In A Few Words."

In essence, this is the best way to describe Prine, who went on to win two Grammys, found a record company, and forever change the country music landscape. Prine touched the hearts of so many with incredible songs that combined a sharp sense of the world with a heart and humor. His music feels like you're listening to your grandpa tell stories. I think that's why so many people profoundly feel his absence today, where he is no longer with us.

Fans Mourn John Prine To This Day

A throwback to Prine's NPR Tiny Desk popped up on my feed recently, and I was struck by the amount of sorrow in the comments. There's a profound hole in the music world that Prine left, and it's never going to be filled.

@johnprineshrine

In the video, Prine performs "Summer's End," the most popular song from his final album, The Tree of Forgiveness. The 2018 album sees Prine in a different place. He had survived not one but two different cancers. Squamous Cell cancer in his neck, and lung cancer. The battles were won but left him vocally in a different place, as a good portion of his neck had to be removed. A year of speech therapy brought his voice to where it is in this performance and on the record. A rougher, more weathered tone than his normal timbre.

Prine left us in 2020 from complications with COVID-19, and his loss still permeates the world, finding its way to the comment section of this TikTok.

"I loved the song… and then I saw the video and was just gutted. I miss him," one fan writes.

"There will only ever be one John Prine. An empathetic poet amongst men. May you rest in peace always remembered. ❤️❤️❤️"

"One of if not greatest songwriter of all time. We miss you John," another commented, which is the general sentiment throughout the comments.

John Prine left an indelible impact on the world. His music and songwriting remain some of the most genuine human things I have ever encountered. For anyone who hasn't been blessed with getting to know his discography, I would highly recommend starting with his self-titled debut from 1971. From the second "Illegal Smile" starts playing, you'll understand.

Rest easy John, you're one of the greats.

This 'Lazy' Habit Can Add a 20% Bonus to Your Retirement

Mon, 05/04/2026 - 11:53am

Market volatility is something every investor worries about, but paying too close attention can actually hurt your long-term investments. Someone with a diverse portfolio and many years of investing may have some inkling of this tip, but new investors will definitely want to pay attention.

Financial info that's actually helpful? Get it daily with Parade's newsletter!

A Look Into Investment Anxiety

A study by Ben-Gurion University professor Maya Shaton showed that turning off investment news and focusing on Year-Over-Year (YoY) growth can actually increase your overall portfolio by 10%-20%. The reasoning behind the science is that a single monthly dip could make you want to ditch a stock that ultimately pays out in the long run.

Shaton’s study, “The Display of Information and Household Investment Behavior,” analyzed the impact of a regulatory change in Israel regarding short-term performance displays. The change required investments to stop showing short-term performance and focus more on a 12-month window. When investors stopped reviewing their portfolios monthly and began looking more long-term, they reacted less dramatically to market volatility.

Willing to Wait

In our current economic climate, it’s easy to be nervous about dips in your portfolio. The results of this study, however, found that when you consider your portfolio over longer periods, say at least 12 months, volatility is actually lower. It’s the ultimate exercise in trusting the process to turn out great, even if the middle part doesn’t fill you with confidence

Trusting the process and allowing your investments to work in the long-term means disconnecting from the 24-hour financial news cycle. Global market activity is observable at any time and can lead to a lot of anxiety if you’re focused on the short term. One market expert may warn you to protect your investment in low-risk, low-yield funds, while another may be barking that the hottest new stock has already doubled or tripled in value and you’re missing out by not throwing everything you have at it.

Trust The Process

Trend chasing is the best way to lose out in the long run. If you want a healthy portfolio, you need to adhere to three simple rules:

  • Research and plan for the long term
  • Make intentional decisions, not knee-jerk reactions
  • Focus on what you can control

A healthy portfolio is the goal of any investor. If you want your own investments to take care of you when you’re ready for them, give them the space they need to breathe and grow.

Reason for Rudy Giuliani's Hospitalization Revealed

Mon, 05/04/2026 - 11:51am

Rudy Giuliani's hospitalization is due to an "overwhelming" bout of pneumonia.

Following news that the former New York City mayor was hospitalized in critical condition on Sunday, May 3, his spokesman, Ted Goodman, shared to People that Giuliani remains in "critical but stable condition" and is "recovering from pneumonia."

"On September 11th, Mayor Giuliani ran toward the towers to help those in need, which later led to a diagnosis of restrictive airway disease," Goodman told the outlet on Monday, May 4. "This condition adds complications to any respiratory illness, and the virus quickly overwhelmed his body, requiring mechanical ventilation to maintain adequate oxygen and stabilize his condition."

According to Goodman, the 81-year-old is now "breathing on his own, with his family and primary medical provider at his side."

"Mayor Giuliani is the ultimate fighter—as he has demonstrated throughout his life—and he is winning this battle," he said. "His family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love and support. The mayor believes in the power of prayer, and we are feeling that strength today."

In August 2025, Giuliani was in a car accident in New Hampshire which left him with multiple serious injuries, including a fractured vertebra.

It was reported that Giuliani had pulled over to assist a woman whom he believed was the victim of domestic violence. After calling 911 and waiting for first responders to arrive, Giuliani continued driving, just to be struck from behind moments later.

Giuliani previously served as the mayor of New York City from 1994 to 2001 before joining President Donald Trump's team as a legal advisor and personal attorney during his first presidential term.

Following news of his hospitalization, the president wrote on Truth Social that Giuliani is a “True Warrior, and the Best Mayor in the History of New York City, BY FAR.”

Retirees Are Flocking to This Atlantic Beach Town That Has Stunning Coastal Views, Fun Shopping and Extensive Tax Benefits

Mon, 05/04/2026 - 11:41am

Retiring to a peaceful beach town is a dream for many retirees. Those looking to live life on the coast once they punch the clock for the last time may find that there is one place in particular where their dreams can come true.

That's because there's one beach town that has it all...affordability, a sense of community, and plenty of access to the great outdoors. Curious which town ranks high among retirees who want to feel the sand between their toes in their golden years? Keep reading to learn more.

View this post on Instagram Retirees are Flocking to This Delaware Beach

Beach lovers are falling in love with Rehoboth Beach in Delaware. That's because Investopedia says this beach town is more affordable than many other spots around the country, giving retirees on a budget a chance to buy a home in the region.

The town's cost of living is about the same as the country's average and just 1% higher than the rest of the state's. Plus, if you didn't already know, Delaware's favorable tax laws make the state a little easier on your budget, thanks to a lack of sales tax and taxes on Social Security payments.

Additionally, the state's property taxes are incredibly low, earning it the title of having the seventh lowest property taxes in the entire country. Investopedia says some of the town's other draws include:

  • A large retirement community, with 44 percent of the population aged 65 or older
  • Easy access to outdoor activities, including the beach, boardwalk, and walkable communities
  • A large number of restaurants, arts and entertainment venues, concerts, bars, and more
  • Mild winters and warm summers

Rehoboth Beach Isn't Without Its Downsides

While all of that may be enough to entice you to move, it's worth noting that there are some cons to moving to Rehoboth Beach, which you will want to consider if you're planning on making the jump after you retire.

First of all, housing prices are very high. According to Homes.com, prices in Rehoboth Beach can vary from as low as $35,000 for a single-wide trailer to several million for more lofty estates. And while it's likely that you can find a home that meets your budget needs, you may have to pay more to buy here than you would in other parts of the country.

Additionally, this is a tourist-heavy region, so summers and holidays are extremely busy here. While that may be a good thing for seniors who like the hustle and bustle of a lively town, those seeking year-round peace and tranquility could become annoyed by the influx of seasonal visitors.

That said, you can probably insulate yourself from this by purchasing a home in a neighborhood that isn't known for being popular with renters, but instead caters to year-round residents.

In the end, deciding where to live in retirement is a deeply personal choice, but Rehoboth seems to have a lot going for it, making it an ideal pick for seniors who want to retire near the ocean.

'Lord of the Flies' Gets Its First-Ever TV Adaptation, From the Creator of 'Adolescence'

Mon, 05/04/2026 - 11:40am

William Golding's Lord of the Flies has spent 72 years being required reading in schools across the country, frightening and frustrating English teachers and students. Its question, what happens to ordinary boys when the guardrails of civilization are removed, has never fully gone away. That question has its first-ever television adaptation, and it lands on Netflixtoday, May 4th.

The four-episode limited series arrives in the U.S., written and developed by Jack Thorne, the Emmy-winning screenwriter who co-created Adolescence, Netflix's nine-episode single-take drama about a 13-year-old accused of murder, which became one of the most-watched series in the platform's history last year. Thorne shot both projects during the same summer, and the thematic overlap is not subtle. 'As a society, we're having a conversation right now about boys,' Thorne said in an interview with Netflix. 'We're losing a generation of boys, and we're losing it because of the hate they are ingesting, because it is an answer to their loneliness and isolation.'

The series follows a group of English schoolboys who survive a plane crash and find themselves stranded on a tropical island in the Pacific. Shot on location in Malaysia, the cast is composed almost entirely of first-time actors, found through an open casting call organized by Nina Gold, the casting director behind Game of Thrones. Winston Sawyers plays Ralph, the group's reluctant leader; David McKenna plays Piggy; Lox Pratt plays Jack, the choirboy whose ambitions pull the group apart; and Ike Talbut plays Simon. Each of the four episodes is named for and centered on one of these characters, an unconventional structural choice that gives each boy's unraveling its own weight and pacing.

Related: 'Little House on the Prairie' Reboot: The Biggest Change Isn’t the Cast

Critics who saw the series when it first aired on BBC One in February gave it strong marks. On Rotten Tomatoes the show holds a 91% score, with a Metacriticconsensus of 84, ratings that put it in clear company with Adolescence as one of the year's most acclaimed limited series. The Telegraph awarded it five stars and described it as a first-class example of an adaptation done right. The Spectator called it 'mesmerically brilliant.' The Independent suggested it would 'terrify parents as much as Adolescence.'

Director Marc Munden, who also helmed Thorne's acclaimed Help, shot the series with a deliberately immersive style, fisheye lenses, close quarters, a handheld quality that makes the boys feel uncomfortably real. The score, composed by Hans Zimmer alongside Kara Talve and Cristobal Tapia de Veer, blends classical choral music with mounting unease. Golding's family gave the production their blessing, and the ending is faithful to the novel's grimly earned conclusion.

Thorne has spoken about shooting Lord of the Flies and Adolescence simultaneously, noting that the two projects fed into each other. 'The difference between boys aged 10 and 12 compared to 13 and 14 is huge,' he told an audience at the Berlin International Film Festival earlier this year. 'All the boys in Flies are negotiating the people they're going to become, whereas Jamie has made decisions about the person he is when we meet him in Adolescence.'

Lord of the Flies begins streaming on Netflix on Monday, May 4. All four episodes are available.

Iconic ’90s Pop Queens’ Surprise On-Stage Reunion Has Fans Begging for a Tour

Mon, 05/04/2026 - 11:39am

Fans are telling them what they want, what they really, really want. And what they want is a Spice Girls reunion tour, especially after seeing the most recent surprise onstage reunion.

Over the weekend, Mel B and Mel C, aka Sporty Spice and Scary Spice, respectively, took to the stage of the Project House in Leeds, West Yorkshire, to belt out a performance of the iconic girl group’s 1997 No. 1 hit “Spice Up Your Life.” As the duo bounced around the stage, hyping up the audience and bringing the high-energy nostalgia, the fans didn’t miss a beat, cheering and yelling every word.

Good to be back with my Spice sister @Mel B in Leeds, thank you for sharing the stage with me ✌🏼🐆❤️

♬ original sound - Melanie C

“What is actually happening?!?” Mel C, real name Melanie Chrisholm, wrote over the video footage of the performance. “Good to be back with my Spice sister @MelB in Leeds, thank you for sharing the stage with me,” she captioned the video on TikTok. The moment quickly spread online, reigniting long-standing calls for a full group comeback.

The two pop queens were leaned into their signature looks, with Sporty Spice rocking her signature Adidas track pants and an orange midriff-baring crop top, and Scary Spice sporting baggy jeans and a patterned long-sleeved crop top — unmistakable nods to their ’90s heyday.

Chatter of a reunion tour has been buzzing for years. In March this year, however, Mel C confirmed that there were no plans for the Spice Girls to hit the road together again. But with the British pop group approaching their 30th anniversary, however, fans see the timing as too perfect to ignore. Sooo, fingers crossed.

According to People, the last time all five women —  Melanie “Mel B” Brown ("Scary Spice"), Melanie “Mel C” Chrisholm ("Sporty Spice"), Emma Bunton ("Baby Spice"), Geri Halliwell ("Ginger Spice"), and Victoria Beckham ("Posh Spice") — performed together for a crowd was at the Closing Ceremony for the 2012 Olympics.

For now, we’re all just holding onto moments like this one and hoping it’s not the last.

Taylor Dayne is looking incredible after fighting for her life through colon cancer.

Taylor Dayne's Colon Cancer Battle

Dayne was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2022, she previously told ParadeShe underwent surgery to remove 10 inches of her colon. Although the procedure was a success because she was declared cancer-free without any chemo or radiation, it led to a post-op infection that saw her hospitalized for weeks. However, it was during that hospitalization that she became determined to perform once again.

“I made a decision,” Dayne told PEOPLE in 2024. “I was lying in the hospital after surgery. I got really, really sick, and it gave me a new sense of purpose. I said, ‘I’m not ready to go. I’m going to fight this.’ ”

While she calls the return to performance “very humbling,” the fact that she gets to do it is something she’s immensely grateful for.

“The gratitude is immeasurable. I weighed 98 pounds by the end of my treatment. And I even walked weird. But that’s one trial and tribulation. That’s not the story,” Dayne continued.

Dayne is a Social Media Star

On her Instagram page, Dayne frequently chronicles her music history for fans. She also occasionally fields questions about her body of work. When asked which music video shoots for her songs that she liked the best, Dayne said “Every Beat of My Heart” had her heart.

“There were a lot of fun elements to that. I really did love shooting that video,” Dayne said in a video that has since been deleted.

However, one of her most iconic videos is the one that’s most often associated with the star.

“‘Tell It To My Heart’ is so quintessentially just the act of me taking a white wall, me, big red lips, and just coming off St. Marks. I was in my pleather. Everything that I would just be hanging out on 8th Street and 2nd Avenue, and that was what you saw,” Dayne recalled. “That hair, that everything, that complete authenticity of club.”

Kylie Kelce’s Hot Take on Disney World Is Raising Eyebrows

Mon, 05/04/2026 - 11:36am

Kylie Kelce always keeps it real, and her thoughts about the Happiest Place on Earth are no exception. On a recent episode of her podcast, Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce, the mom of four and former field hockey player dished all things Disney with guest (and fellow mom) actress Brenda Song

Kelce, who is married to former NFL center Jason Kelce, confessed that she and her family had only been to Disney World in Florida, not Disneyland in California, but nonetheless concluded that the parks were designed not for kids but for grown-ups.

Why Disney Is Actually for the Grown-Ups

“I have realized that it is not for the kids, it’s for us,” Kelce says. “And as adults, we can appreciate the magic and also the food and beverage, and also, our legs can do it. It’s a lot.”

Song, a self-proclaimed “Disney adult,” didn’t disagree and revealed that she and partner Macaulay Culkin are their household’s biggest Disney Parks fans.  “I feel like me and Mac love Disneyland more than our children do,” she shares. The couple shares two sons: Dakota, 5, and Carson, 4. Part of Song’s love of the theme parks stems from her days as a Disney Channel child star and all the events she’d get to attend there, making it feel like “the coolest backyard in the world.”

“So it feels like home. But Disney World to me is truly like the most magical place,” admits theRunning Point star.

Kelce's Favorite Disney Hacks

The Kelce family, including at least three of their four daughters, Wyatt Elizabeth, 6, Elliotte Ray, 5, and Bennett Llewellyn, 3, have been spotted at Disney World multiple times throughout the years, sometimes even with Kelce’s mother-in-law, Donna Kelce in tow to be another set of hands, one of Kylie’s "official Disney not-so-pro tips” she offered in another episode.

View this post on Instagram

“We love man-to-man coverage because it means that everyone gets their undivided attention and, even more importantly, you don't miss moments,” according to the seasoned mom. She also recommends doing one special ride or experience for each kid, whether it’s a princess meet-and-greet for the little ones or a more adventurous ride for older kids.

One of the Kelce family’s favorite Disney World attractions? The Journey of Water, inspired by Moana, which she describes as one of the most “underrated” rides at the park that all her kids love.

Whether it's a nostalgic escape for Disney adults or a carefully orchestrated family outing, the parks continue to draw millions of visitors each year — and according to Kelce and Song, the appeal extends well beyond the younger set.

The 4 Most Social Butterfly Birth Dates

Mon, 05/04/2026 - 11:10am

Per the Mayo Clinic, adults with strong social connections have a lower risk of many health problems. Having a broad social life is good for your mind, body, and spirit. Further, expert numerologists and astrologers note that individuals born on the following four dates tend to be natural social butterflies. These souls adore connecting with others and thrive in relational settings. Most importantly, they discover more about themselves when they are surrounded by good company. While they appreciate their alone time like everyone else, they actively seek out friendships, connect with people, and learn more about the world by bravely and openheartedly engaging with those they meet along the way.

Which Birth Dates Are Most Likely to Be Social Butterflies?

Check for your birth date. Disregard birth months.

Born on the 2nd — The Welcoming Peacekeeper

People born on the 2nd of any month are ruled by the Moon, our celestial guide through the realm of emotional intelligence. These intuitive spirits are deeply attuned to the needs of others. As natural-born caretakers and peacekeepers, they hold human connection near and dear. While they may not be the most flashy person in the room, once you sit with them one-on-one, expect a personable conversation to naturally arise. With an instinct to make others feel welcome and safe, they effortlessly form lasting friendships.

Born on the 15th — The Quietly Magnetic Soul

Those born on the 15th of any month are often quietly influential. While they may not concern themselves with ego or pride, they hold something far more powerful: magnetism. Virtually everyone is drawn to their light, feeling relieved by their respectable conversation and kindhearted intentions. Ruled by the planet of love, Venus, their path is relationship-oriented. They love, love. Whether you are a close friend, family member, lover, or a stranger who is soon to become their acquaintance, they hold space for the good that lies within everyone.

Born on the 28th — The Radiant Energizer

Ruled by the Sun, people who are born on the 28th are exceptionally warm. Whether they spread big smiles, booming laughter, or playful banter, people let loose in their presence. They are headstrong and confident, with a lot of love to give. When they are in the spotlight, they shine. Even the most reserved of people with this birthdate feel at their best once surrounded by the attention of those they hold near and dear. The human embodiment of sunshine, these social butterflies make a positive impact on others' lives, inspiring hope.

Born on the 30th — The Curious Connector

Do you know someone born on the 30th? Perhaps you are? This birthdate is ruled by Jupiter, the planet of luck and expansion. They thrive on adventure, whimsy, and exploration. Venturing out into uncharted territory gives them new philosophical material to stimulate their ever-curious minds. That includes introducing themselves to new friends or trying to get to know people with lifestyles different from their own. While we all have our shy moments, this birthdate courageously pushes past their fears to try to connect with people on a fun, yet intriguing level. As true social butterflies, they open the horizons of those who hang around them.

Costco’s Reversible Lightweight Gauze Throw Is a Breezy Warm-Weather Layer

Mon, 05/04/2026 - 11:05am

Here's the thing about me: I love to layer. I'm one of those people who isn't really relaxed unless the temperature feels just right. It's a bit of an annoying trait, but at this point in my life, I prepare for it. It's just my thing. This goes for blankets and bedding too. I like to have options. I'm a bit like Goldilocks in that way.

When the weather warms up, finding the right throw blanket for my living room couch can really be a bit of a trial-and-error process. I want something that has just a little bit of weight to it to feel cozy, but is breathable enough where I'm not sweating underneath it. After all, I want to binge my shows in comfort. Who doesn't? If you find yourself in the same predicament (or just want a warm-weather refresh for your space), I think I've stumbled upon just the throw blanket to make everyone happy.

Berkshire Artist Collection Cotton Gauze Throw, $21.99 at Costco Berkshire Artist Collection Cotton Gauze Throw

Costco

Costco just added this cheerful Berkshire Artist Collection Cotton Gauze Throw to the warehouse club's aisles, and you're going to love the feel. It's basically two moods in one. On one side, you've got lightweight cotton gauze that feels airy, breathable and perfect for when you want just a little coziness without overheating. Flip it over, and it's all about the plush printed Velvetloft side—soft, velvety and made for peak snuggling.

In other words, it's the kind of reversible blanket that totally gets that sometimes you want light and breezy, and sometimes you want full-on comfort mode.

Related: Dollar General's Vibrant Boho Rug Is Charming, Durable and So Affordable

While the lemon colorway is totally giving fresh, springtime Mediterranean vibes, this gauzey blanket does have two other colorways to choose from. There's also a really lovely blue floral and a cute dog print for all of the animal lovers out there.

As far as size, the blanket measures 60 inches by 70 inches, so it's really your standard-size throw—just don't expect it to be big enough to share among two people. A friend is going to have to get their own for everyone to have a decent amount of blanket coverage.

Costco is really rolling out a lot of goodness in May. Aside from this reversible throw blanket, there's the prettiest set of stoneware bowls for entertaining. And for everyone out there who spends a lot of time in the kitchen, you'll want to get your hands on a set of Costco's new comfort mats in stylish designs.

Nancy Guthrie Update: 'Porch Guy' May Have Been Killed by 'the Boss,' Criminal Profiler Says

Mon, 05/04/2026 - 11:02am

A new television special, NewsNation Presents: The Nancy Guthrie Mystery, will air on The CW on Wednesday, May 6 at 9 p.m. ET. Parade obtained preview clips from the program, hosted by Brian Entin and featuring criminal profilers Dr. Ann Burgess, Dr. Gary Brocato and Dr. Casey Jordan.

In one clip, the profilers are asked whether the individual seen on Guthrie’s front stoop acted alone. The experts suggest that it's possible there was more than one person involved in the abduction and that there could have been a "boss" type figure, orchestrating the crime behind the scenes.

During the discussion, Dr. Burgess brought up another plausible scenario.

"I just had a thought. That person [on Nancy's stoop] may have been eliminated," Dr. Burgess said. When asked who the person may have been killed by, she replied, "the boss."

"It was well-planned. They got away with it. And they pulled a type of case that we’ve never seen before, as far as we know," she added.

The possibility that the individual seen on the porch may no longer be alive has also been raised by other commentators following the case. For example, retired FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer discussed a similar theory during a live broadcast posted on X in mid-April. Authorities, however, have not confirmed any such scenario.

Parade spoke with Entin last week about the upcoming special, which will provide some new insight into the ongoing case.

"I think people [will find the special] interesting because [the profilers] have some fascinating theories based on past cases they’ve worked, as well as statistics," Entin told Parade. "They’re really focused on patterns in other crimes and kidnappings to help narrow down motive and who they think this [suspect] could be."

Authorities believe Guthrie, 84, was abducted from her Arizona home on Sunday, Feb. 1. Despite early leads, officials have not identified a suspect or determined her whereabouts. The case remains active as investigators continue to pursue new tips and forensic evidence.

New Proposal Could Limit Social Security Benefits—But How Would It Impact You?

Mon, 05/04/2026 - 11:00am

It's no secret that the Social Security Administration (SSA) is in financial trouble. And while the details surrounding just how much of a shortfall the SSA plans to have in the coming years still seem to be in question, it sounds like the agency is hard at work at finding a solution so that our most vulnerable seniors can still access the money they need in retirement.

However, a new proposal from one of the groups charged with finding an answer may limit the benefits for some retirees. Are you among those who could be looking at more strict earnings caps? Keep reading to find out more.

Social Security Proposal Includes a Major Earnings Cap

The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget has been hard at work in Washington, attempting to come up with a solution to ensure that the SSA doesn't run out of money in 10 years.

One of their big ideas for ensuring this doesn't happen includes a "Six-Figure Limit," according to AL.com, which is a proposal that would include the following earning limits for filers moving forward:

  • A $100,000 cap for married couples
  • A $50,000 cap for individuals

This would limit the amount of money each person is allowed to receive from the SSA each year, hopefully keeping more money in the agency's coffers. “Social Security faces a projected 4 percent of taxable payroll solvency gap over the next 75 years, necessitating increased revenue, slower benefit growth, or both,” AL.com says a white paper on the proposal explained. “In combination with other reforms, the Six-Figure Limit could help restore Social Security solvency in a targeted, timely, progressive, and pro-growth way.”

Who Does the Proposed Earnings Limit Apply to

The committee's plan will hit the country's highest earners the hardest. But the good news is, that's a really small pool of people. Of the estimated 56 million people who collect Social Security over age 65, fewer than 2 percent are likely to be affected. That's because this plan would only affect those who earned $184,500 a year for at least 35 years of their working lives and who delayed retirement until age 70.

Additionally, these high-income earners are likely to be less impacted by the change. That's because their high income likely means they have multiple other assets and income streams to rely on, and their Social Security payment of $5,181 (the max someone can receive as of 2026) is likely only a small part of what they bring in each month.

And, it wouldn't take away their ability to collect a monthly Social Security payment. But instead, it will limit their benefits by about 5 percent, making a small adjustment that experts believe would save an estimated $100 billion over the first ten years of implementation.
