While broadcast TV is almost back, there are still some weeks to wait for the big returns. So, you’re still looking for something, and Yellowstone fans need to look no further than Netflix. A show considered perfect for Yellowstone fans has arrived.

It’s all about When Hope Calls, a sweeping period romance that brings a story of community and belonging. The first season originally aired on Hallmark, but then it moved to Great American Family and there was a long delay for the second season. That didn’t stop viewers from tuning in, and the series was renewed for a third season.

When Will ‘When Hope Calls’ Come to Netflix?

The When Calls the Heart spinoff is already available to stream on Netflix. The first two seasons were added on Sept. 14, bringing a lot of light and fun while people wait for the Yellowstone spinoff, Marshals. 

There is no word on the third season just yet. When Hope Calls Season 3 is slated to air on Great American Family sometime in 2027, and it will likely remain exclusive to GAF’s streamer Pureflix for a while. It will also depend on licensing agreements and whether the show becomes a huge hit for the streaming giant.

We’ve seen shows head to Netflix only for short periods of time recently. Some licensing agreements are only for a year, although those with ongoing seasons tend to be much longer to make sure newer seasons are eventually added. Outlander is one example, which is still only up to Season 6 on Netflix despite two more seasons airing on STARZ since then.

What Is ‘When Hope Calls’ About?

The series, which Brit + Co names as being “perfect for Yellowstone fans,” follows two sisters who were separated when they were young. Their parents died, and that led to one being raised in an orphanage, while the other was adopted by a family and raised in Brookfield, a fictional small Canadian town.

As the two become adults, they reunite, and they decide to open an orphanage together. The Brookfield townspeople aren’t too certain about it at first. What type of drama could the orphans bring, and what would be expected of them? In the end, the community starts to come together, realizing that this could be good for all.

While it is set in 1916, there are many themes that will resonate with viewers today. The smalltown vibe will draw many in, but the sweeping romance will certainly appeal to 1923 fans.

The series stars Morgan Kohan, Jocelyn Hudon, Ryan-James Hatanaka, Greg Hovanessian, and Marshall Williams, and it is based on the Canadian West book series by Janette Oke.

It’s time to check your freezer because another nationwide recall has been issued, this time for a frozen dessert sold at popular retailers like Walmart, Target, and Kroger supermarkets.

According to a recall notice published on September 15 by the Food and Drug Administration, Danone USA is voluntarily recalling pints of So Delicious Dairy Free Salted Caramel Cluster Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert “due to the potential presence of foreign materials, such as small stones and other hard objects, within the cashew inclusions.”

The recalled pints can be identified by the following markers:

SKU: 136603
UPC: 744473476138
Best-by date: On and before April 3, 2028

“The issue was identified through consumer complaints and the FDA has been informed of this voluntary recall. Danone USA is working with retail partners to remove affected product from shelves. Unaffected product is still available on shelves, and product shipped going forward is not affected by this recall,” notes the recall. 

According to a notice published by Target, the affected product was sold at both Target stores and on the Target website for $5.39. Walmart issued a similar notice on its website, flagging that it sold the frozen dessert at locations in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Kroger posted a notice on its website that it sold the affected product at Kroger stores in Texas and Louisiana. It was also sold at Bakers, City Market, Dillons, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, Gerbes, King Soopers, Mariano’s, Metro Market, Pick n Save, Ralphs, QFC, and Smith’s stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Consumers who purchased the recalled dessert are urged to not consume it. The So Delicious dairy Free consumer care line can be contacted for a replacement coupon or a refund Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET at 1-833-367-8975. The brand can also be contacted via its website.

Chris Harrison is back — and Bachelor Nation stars have opinions!

Harrison dropped a teaser for his new reality dating series on Wednesday, September 16, in which he seemingly mocks The Bachelor franchise by dropping and pretending to step on a red rose.

“It’s good to be back. Time to help people find love again,” he captioned the clip, announcing that The Vow is set to premiere on Fox Nation on November 11.

The six-part series will roll out weekly, with the season finale set for December 9.

“Expect someone else?” the former Bachelor host said in the teaser. “Roses fade. True love lasts forever.”

Harrison — who spent nearly two decades as host of The Bachelor and its spinoff series — received overwhelming support from Bachelor Nation.

“It’s like Jordan coming out of retirement,” Sean Lowe, who will also appear in the new series, commented.

“Let’s goooo. The GOAT of reality tv 💪🏼,” Jordan Rodgers wrote.

Tanner Tolbert dropped a GIF in the comments that read, “He’s back!”

The Vow marks Harrison’s first new show since his exit from The Bachelor in 2021 following comments made in defense of former star Rachael Kirkconnell after photos surfaced of Kirkconnell attending an antebellum plantation-themed fraternity party in 2018.

Harrison later apologized for his comments, calling it a “mistake.”

Believe it or not, the iconic game show has been on the air for over 60 years (though the modern incarnation we know and love technically debuted in 1984). Under the watchful eye of Ken Jennings (who himself was a record-breaking champion), Jeopardy! puts three people’s trivia skills and reflexes to the ultimate test. The answer: “What is Amodei?”

The end of the DJ round found Spinoglio in the lead with $10,600, followed by Riggle at $5,400 and Nicastro at $100. Riggle didn’t get FJ correct, which he needed to earn his 5th consecutive win, though he was on the right track with “What is Amadeus?” He wagered nearly everything with $5,201, bringing him down to a second-place total of $199. 

Spinoglio was the only contestant to answer correctly, adding a $201 wager for a first-place total of $10,801, and taking the title of champ.

Meanwhile, Nicastro wagered $98, got it wrong, with “What Is Theodore?,” and dropped to a third-place total of $2. 

Spinoglio will be back on Thursday for attempt number 2.

Live from New York, it’s the new cast members of Saturday Night Live!

It was announced on Wednesday afternoon that two new cast members, Grace Reiter and Saidah Belo-Osagie, will be joining the cast of NBC’s Saturday Night Live for its 52nd season.

The news was announced 10 days before the season premieres. SNL takes a break during the summer months, with its most recent show being on May 16, with Will Ferrell as the host and Paul McCartney as the musical guest.

The premiere will air on Sept. 26, with host Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks and musical guest KATSEYE.

Everyone from last season is returning this fall, except Chloe Fineman, who announced her exit on July 16, after seven seasons on the show. She wrote in an Instagram post that “working at SNL has been the greatest privilege of [her] life.” It was also revealed that a member of the comedy trio Please Don’t Destroy, Martin Herlihy, will not be returning as a writer. He was a part of the show for five seasons, and his father, Tim Herlihy, was a longtime writer and producer for the show.

Past costumes have included Medusa, E.T., a giant worm, a peacock, Fiona from Shrek, a werewolf from Thriller, Jessica Rabbit, and Klum Klones, to name a few.

“I loved when I made myself really old,” Heidi says. “That’s a lot of fun. I turned myself into someone who was like 90. I also loved being an alien. I was really kind of a robot alien. I was red with purple hair, and I was on stilts, so I was like extra tall. When you look at photos, if I’m not standing next to a person, it’s not as great as if you see me next to someone else. Then you just realize how tall I was because I had to learn how to walk on stilts, which I loved.”

There’s always a lot of blood and Dracula and people sucking blood out of their veins in the neck, so I feel like having a blood transfusion bag was so perfect.  I think people will have a lot of fun with this.”

Heidi came up with the idea to do an annual Halloween party because she’s always loved dressing up. When she was growing up in Germany, her mother would make her costumes for the February carnival — known as Karneval, Fasching, or Fastnacht – but Halloween wasn’t really celebrated in Germany. It wasn’t until she moved to New York when she was 20, that she was introduced to Halloween and began her search for the perfect party.

“I’d go to some of these Halloween parties and people were just not given anything,” she recalls. “Why is no one in great costumes? So, I was like, ‘I’m going to do a party.’
This is really how it sparked my idea on doing one myself because I thought all the parties were so lame and the costumes people were doing even lamer. I was like, ‘There needs to be a person who really shows them to give more.’”

It’s now 26 years later, and each year Heidi comes up with her outrageous costumes herself, and she incorporates her family, who are into it, but not as much as she is.

“I don’t know if you saw [daughter] Leni last year,” Heidi says. “She always tries to also be very niche. [Last year she dressed] like a book of this little girl who has these rainbow stripes on her skin [Camilla Cream from the children’s book A Bad Case of Stripes], so she spent all day putting rainbow stripes on every part of her skin that was exposed, so she looked exactly like this little girl from the book. Leni is definitely someone who is into it. [Daughter] Lou, also, but not as hard yet. She’s more into anime and she makes her own wigs, where she curls them and teases them and cuts them, so that they stay in these weird shapes that a lot of the anime characters have.”

She says it’s important to talk to a healthcare provider before taking ibuprofen daily and to limit self-treatment to 10 days for pain and three days for a fever. Your doctor can also prescribe ibuprofen if you need a higher dose. If you’re sensing a pattern here, it’s that, yes, you should still talk to your doctor about ibuprofen, even if you’re taking an over-the-counter version.

Your doctor can also share best practices for taking ibuprofen or any OTC drug, including whether it may interact with another medication or supplement you take for your health.

“Knowing the correct way to take an OTC medication is essential to protect the patient from unnecessary risks or adverse side effects and also to ensure the medication works as effectively as possible,” Dr. Oncer explains. “Patients on multiple medications should consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new medication, OTC or prescribed, to avoid any adverse interactions.”

Stop Taking Ibuprofen This Way, Pharmacists Beg

Pharmacists don’t recommend taking ibuprofen on an empty stomach. While it doesn’t have the same potentially fatal consequences as drinking alcohol while taking acetaminophen (Tylenol), taking ibuprofen on an empty stomach can cause stomach aches.

“Ibuprofen can be taken without food, but taking it on an empty stomach increases the chances of stomach discomfort, such as stomach pain, indigestion, heartburn and nausea,” warns Dr. Christine Cadiz, Pharm.D., a health sciences clinical associate professor at the University of California, Irvine.

Consider the fact that you’re likely taking an ibuprofen to soothe pain—so why bother adding more?

Dr. Oncer points out that enzymes in your body called COX-1 normally produce protective chemicals called prostaglandins. These prostaglandins coat the stomach lining, protecting it with a thick mucous layer that shields it from strong stomach acid. The issue with ibuprofen is that it blocks COX-1—and those protective prostaglandins. Cue the GI troubles.

“Theoretically, taking ibuprofen on an empty stomach may accelerate or trigger direct irritation to the stomach because there is no food to buffer the medication there,” she adds. “Most pharmacists, including myself, would err on the side of caution and always take any NSAID with light food or a glass of milk or water.”

Dr. Oncer says that this advice is especially important if you have risk factors for stomach irritation, like:

• Advanced age
• Previous history of stomach ulcers or bleeds
• Recent surgery
• Alcohol consumption
• Smoking history
• Heartburn
• GERD
• Taking ibuprofen too frequently

Wait—Does Taking Ibuprofen on an Empty Stomach Provide Faster Relief?

It might, but pharmacists stress that it’s important to consider the pros and cons of taking ibuprofen on an empty stomach.

“There is evidence to suggest that taking ibuprofen on an empty stomach can provide faster pain relief and possibly more effective pain relief because there is no food to buffer absorption,” Dr. Oncer shares.

But is it worth it? Not in Dr. Oncer’s opinion.

“Taking ibuprofen with food will delay absorption, as the food will buffer it and delay its effectiveness, but it does not decrease the amount absorbed,” she notes. “The delay in pain relief is only about 30-60 minutes at most. You can take it with a full glass of water to help move it quickly through your digestive tract.”

How Much Food Should You Eat With Ibuprofen?

You don’t need to eat a whole Thanksgiving dinner with Advil (or a full meal). “A snack or glass of milk should be sufficient,” Dr. Cadiz tells Parade.

She shares that there isn’t a specific “best food to have with ibuprofen,” either.

“I would recommend foods that are generally easy on the stomach, such as toast, crackers, banana, yogurt or cereal,” Dr. Cadiz says. “Avoid foods that tend to be harder on the stomach, such as acidic foods and spicy foods.”  

You don’t have to take ibuprofen with a full meal, but it’s fine if your next dose and meal align.

“Just keep in mind that large meals or very high-fat meals will slow down the medication absorption more and make it take longer to work,” she states.

Drinks work, too. “Water is one of the best choices,” Dr. Oncer notes. “Not only does it help it absorb into our bodies more quickly, but it also hydrates you. Drinking water also helps your kidneys function better when taking medications, so they can be flushed out better.”

Alcohol, however, is definitely not a good idea, as it could severely irritate your stomach and cause stomach bleeding or ulcers—cheers to avoiding that.

Brittany Mahomes has an exciting project in the works.

It was revealed on Monday that the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will partner with the growth haircare brand Divi for the second time, appearing as the new brand ambassador for Divi’s new hairspray products: Soft Finish and Soft Hold.

Dani Austin, the founder of Divi, shared the news of the new products and partnership on Instagram, along with photos of her and Brittany with the cheeky caption: “Two is better than one…”

Brittany Mahomes stunned in a dark denim corset and jeans set, while Austin wore a lighter wash denim jacket and jeans. Austin, who founded Divi in 2021, described their Soft Finish hairspray as “for the girl who wants effortless, brushable, every day hold,” while the Strong Hold is “for the girl who wants untouchable, sleek, maximum hold.”

Patrick Clancy is preparing to speak publicly about the loss of his three children, but the first glimpse of his upcoming 60 Minutes interview is already drawing strong reactions online.

CBS shared a teaser on Tuesday, September 16, confirming that Patrick will sit down with correspondent Ross Douthat for an exclusive interview airing this Sunday. The appearance comes weeks after the murder trial of his ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy, ended in a mistrial.

Lindsay’s defense acknowledged that she killed her three kids she shared with Patrick — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan in 2023, while arguing she was not criminally responsible because she was suffering from postpartum psychosis.

CBS said the interview will focus on Patrick’s grief, his memories of Cora, Dawson and Callan, and the conspiracy theories that have circulated online since Lindsay’s trial. “This Sunday on 60 Minutes, Patrick Clancy talks about his grief, his memories of his children, and the baseless conspiracy theories that flooded social media since his ex-wife’s murder trial,” CBS wrote while promoting the interview.

Patrick testified during Lindsay’s trial but has otherwise largely stayed out of the public spotlight.

The jury could not reach a unanimous verdict, resulting in a mistrial. Prosecutors have not yet announced whether they will retry the case.

Patrick has never been accused of a crime in connection with the children’s deaths, but online people have swirled twisted conspiracy theories against him and his new wife Rachel Danis.

How Are People Reacting to Patrick Clancy’s Interview?

Reactions beneath CBS’ social media teaser were sharply divided.

A user wrote: “You could have done an investigative piece on postpartum struggles women have and the lack of support in our healthcare system. Interesting 🤔”

One viewer welcomed the interview, writing, “Glad you are giving him a chance to respond to the ugly accusations against him.”

Others questioned the decision to give Patrick another public platform. “We have heard all the Patrick said. Please stop giving this man airtime,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “It’s always Patrick’s side.” A separate viewer simply wrote, “Damage control.”

Others wondered whether his new wife would also be interviewed, with one person asking, “Can we interview his new wife as well ?”

One person wrote: “Ooh I don’t know if this is the best idea. I hope he has a good publicist and lawyer. Fair play to him for having his say though. It cannot be easy.”

Another user pushed back harder, writing, “Whatever you think this interview accomplishes, from my perspective, it looks like you’re poisoning the jury pool and wrecking any chance of a fair retrial. Additionally, you’re hanging an innocent and devastated man out to dry in front of people who identify with ‘poor mental health’ as an excuse. Shameful.”

Others raised similar concerns about the timing. “Why is doing interviews allowed while there’s still no verdict? Is this to just taint the jury pool further?” one person wrote.

Not everyone agreed with the criticism. “Good. I’ll watch. What some people are saying about Patrick Clancy… the amount of insane slander (Lindsay and her lawyer have already admitted it was her several times but the crazies won’t care) is vile,” one supporter wrote.

Another user predicted how Patrick might handle the interview itself. “My guess: He won’t hold a grudge. He’ll be gentle with her, and no matter what everyone says, he’ll say she shouldn’t go to jail (first degree). Unfortunately, he’ll probably say something like that instead of demanding accountability,” they wrote, adding that it’s still important for people to hear “Patrick’s side” directly rather than relying on online discourse to form an opinion.

Others were simply glad he was speaking out at all. “Oh, please people, just let Patrick speak & stop your nonsense! I want to hear a full 60 minutes. I think it’s for the best that he did this. It really helps to understand what he’s been going through for the past few years. Have empathy for him & try to understand his plight,” another person wrote.

What Has Patrick Clancy Said Since the Mistrial?

Patrick has not personally issued a detailed public statement since the trial ended, though his attorneys have spoken on his behalf.

His legal team has strongly rejected online allegations involving him and said law enforcement had been notified about what Patrick’s attorney described as a campaign of false claims.

On Tuesday, September 8, attorney Howard Cooper, representing Patrick and his family, had been subjected to what he called a “relentless, escalating and destructive defamation campaign”, as per the statement published by Boston25.

Cooper alleged that social media personalities and conspiracy theorists had circulated false claims suggesting Patrick was involved in his children’s deaths. Patrick has not been accused by authorities of involvement in the killings. Cooper said the online claims had moved beyond social media and resulted in what he described as real-life threats to Patrick’s “reputation, livelihood, and life.”

He said Patrick’s goal was to stop the misinformation and return his attention to preserving the memories of Cora, Dawson and Callan, while supporting women dealing with perinatal mental health challenges.

Cooper ended the statement with a warning: “Enough is enough — this spread of blatant and baseless falsehoods must stop. Those responsible should understand that there will be consequences, and every appropriate measure will be pursued to hold them accountable, including legally. Law enforcement has been notified.”

The upcoming 60 Minutes interview will mark Patrick’s first television interview since the mistrial.

You try to address the first statement, but before you can even articulate a response, three more untruths are thrown your way. Your heart races, your head spins and suddenly you’re no longer arguing about the original issue at hand; instead, you’re desperately trying to defend your own sanity while unraveling a tangled web of misinformation.

If this disorienting dynamic feels familiar, you aren’t just dealing with a heated conversation or a passionate communicator. According to mental health professionals, you are likely experiencing a highly calculated, deeply manipulative tactic that we’re calling the firehose strategy—and whether it’s a common term or not, the action is a hallmark sign of high-level gaslighting.

Gaslighting at its core is a form of psychological abuse designed to make a person question their own reality, memory or judgment. While classic gaslighting often sounds like subtle invalidation—such as “You’re just being dramatic” or “That never happened”—high-level manipulators frequently deploy more sophisticated, aggressive techniques when they feel their power slipping.

The firehose strategy (which we’ve also deemed a “firehose of lies“) isn’t meant to win an argument through logic. Rather, its entire purpose is emotional overwhelm. By flooding you with a relentless stream of claims, the perpetrator ensures you never have the space to breathe, process or establish the ground truth. Understanding how this high-level tactic works—and learning how to step out of its path—is essential to protecting your peace of mind and reclaiming your emotional authority.

What Is the ‘Firehose Strategy’ in Gaslighting?

When a gaslighter uses what we call the firehose strategy, they unleash a rapid, endless sequence of fabrications, distortions or exaggerated claims. It is designed to act like a verbal deluge.

As psychologist Dr. Deborah Vinall, PsyD, LMFT, Chief Psychological Consultant with Recovered.org, explained in a previous piece for Parade, gaslighters aren’t necessarily trying to convince you that their endless stream of lies has any validity. Instead, a high-level gaslighter wants to keep you completely off balance.

“As you try to make sense of each story, the next lie arrives, leaving you insufficient time to get to the bottom of anything,” she revealed. “Things may feel ‘off,’ but you seldom can prove why. Ultimately, at least some of the lies stick.”

Because human bandwidth during an argument is limited, trying to debunk every single claim in real-time becomes impossible; you’re being slammed with a “stream” of insults and untruths (hence the firehose metaphor). This leaves you exhausted, confused and prone to internalizing the doubt they’ve planted. The manipulator effectively shifts the focus away from their own questionable behavior and puts you on the defensive, forcing you to fight just to prove basic facts.

Why High-Level Gaslighters Rely on This Tactic

To understand why someone uses the firehose strategy, it helps to look at what drives high-level manipulation: an overwhelming fear of losing control and an inability to take responsibility. High-level gaslighters operate out of deep-seated insecurities, using grandiosity, victimhood and chaotic arguments to protect their ego.

When confronted with facts or evidence that contradict their narrative, taking accountability is off the table. In another analysis featured on Parade, Dr. Cynthia Edwards-Hawver, PsyD—a licensed psychologist who has expertise in emotional abuse, antagonistic relational dynamics, gaslighting and trauma—noted that “owning mistakes means surrendering control, and that’s their greatest fear.”

So what do they do so that you don’t have time to poke holes in their arguments with real facts, or even have time to respond to each new blow they throw your way? The manipulator turns on the firehose. They just keep hurling lies and hurtful statements at you, wave after wave. By introducing chaos, they sidestep genuine accountability, obscure the original facts and derail any meaningful conversation about the relationship dynamics.

How To Protect Yourself and Disarm the Deluge

If you realize someone is using the firehose strategy against you, trying to out-argue them or systematically debunk every claim will only drain your energy, and ultimately won’t work. Instead, psychologists recommend taking away the power source: your participation.

1. Pause and name the pause: Don’t chase every lie. As psychologist Dr. Alexandra Stratyner, PhD, a licensed psychologist, shared previously on Parade, taking a beat sends a clear message. Using a phrase like “I need time to process what you just said” buys you breathing room and signals that you won’t be rushed or swayed.
2. Refuse to take the bait: You do not have to refute 20 wrong claims to prove your point. Removing yourself from the conversation or ignoring attempts to gaslight causes the manipulator to immediately lose power.
3. Anchor in your reality: Gaslighters count on you trusting their chaos over your own memory. Grounding yourself in your values, keeping a journal or written record of events and leaning on rational, supportive friends can help you maintain a firm grip on the truth.

When you refuse to fight off the flood, the firehose loses its pressure—leaving you firmly grounded in your own truth.

Madonna and her troupe were costumed in historical French attire beckoning thoughts of Marie Antoinette and Dangerous Liaisons.

1993: “Bye Bye Baby”
Madonna opened the 1993 VMAs as a circus ringmaster wearing a tuxedo and top hat.

In this performance, Madonna brought a calming vibe with an Indian-inspired theme complete with henna tattoos. Lenny Kravitz played guitar in the latter half of the set.

In this iconic performance, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera paid homage to Madonna in wedding dresses before Madonna raised out of a massive cake and kissed both pop stars, creating media frenzy. Missy Elliott performed during this set.

The internet has apparently added a new opening act to Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour: memes.

After Macklemore was dropped from Sheeran’s remaining North American tour dates following his pro-Palestinian comments, several other acts — including Sheeran’s own backing band, Beoga — have announced they’re pulling out of the tour, too. As the lineup continues to shift, social media users have responded with a steady stream of jokes, memes and reactions to the increasingly complicated tour drama.

The latest developments came after Sheeran broke his silence Tuesday, saying Macklemore’s removal was the promoter’s decision and that he would not abandon fans, his touring crew or the other musicians who depend on the tour for work. Since then, Beoga, Aaron Rowe, Lukas Graham and Finneas have announced their withdrawals from various upcoming dates, with several citing their support for Palestine — and social media is definitely paying attention.

“BREAKING NEWS: the 1-877-Kars4Kids band has pulled out of the Ed Sheeran tour,” one person posted on Threads, along with a photo of the kids featured in the commercial. Someone responded, “I heard that KidzBop also has declined to open.”

Another person posted an image from the movie Sinners, with Michael B. Jordan asking a vampire if he’s opening for Ed Sheeran.

And one Threads user posted a photo of Powerline from A Goofy Movie and wrote, “BREAKING NEWS: Powerline has pulled out of Ed Sheeran’s tour.”

On X, someone posted a photo of Sheeran alone with his guitar and wrote, “Ed Sheeran when the rest of the band quits the tour.”

Over on Reddit, a user posted an image from I Think You Should Leave with the words, “I actually want to go to a Macklemore concert more than I want to go to an Ed Sheeran concert.”

Game of Thrones also got thrown into the mix on Instagram with an image of Sheeran in the show and the words, “The Words, ‘the North remembers,’ are hurtful to a lot of people I’ve spoken to, as is the implication that the Lannisters are in any way implicated in the Red Wedding. I don’t take sides.”

Just a day after Reba McEntire honored country icon and longtime friend Dolly Parton at the 2026 Emmys, she recalls the first time she ever met the “Queen of Country.”

The three-time Grammy winner took to the stage at the awards ceremony in tribute to the country singer following her death in August. It was even reported that McEntire wore some of Parton’s personal jewelry for the occasion. The country duo was thick as thieves, as they met decades ago at the Grand Ole Opry.

In an interview with Vogue the day after the Emmys, McEntire looked back at her friendship with Parton and how she first met her when she made her Opry debut. She revealed the “first time I was in her presence” was on Sept. 1977, almost 49 years ago.

 “I was making my Grand Ole Opry debut and was supposed to sing two songs that night. They came to me and said one of my songs was going to have to be cut because Dolly Parton had just walked in the back door,” she explained.

“I said, ‘Heck, you can have both of them if I can just meet Dolly!’ I will never forget her walking through in this beautiful black chiffon outfit with rhinestone butterflies. She looked just like an angel!”

McEntire was only 22-years-old when she made her Opry debut, while Parton was only a few years older at the age of 31. Due to Parton’s arrival, McEntire only ended up singing Roger Miller‘s “Invitation to the Blues.” The singer almost would never have met Parton that night, as it was reported that a security guard wasn’t letting her in due to no seeing her name on the list. She had to call her booking agent to confirm her attendance.

Since 1977, the two country singers stayed close friends until Parton’s death. McEntire sang one of her favorite songs by Parton, “Appalachian Memories,” in her honor at the Emmys. Her look that evening was also a nod to her dear friend.

“I wanted to wear something sparkly, just like Dolly would have done. When Dolly did her first TV special, ‘Live in London,’ in 1983, she wore a white fringed gown, and that’s where she first sang ‘Appalachian Memories.’ So my white gown is a little nod to that moment,” she explained.

McEntire was surprised that night when her manager, Justin McIntosh, asked Parton’s niece if they could loan some of the singer’s jewelry for the occasion. They had “graciously” said yes, and “it was an honor to have a little piece of her on stage with me.”
