The Lyrur Smocked Tiered Maxi Dress comes in sizes small through extra large and is made from a soft blend of 95% viscose and 5% elastane. It's machine washable, making it an easy addition to any warm-weather wardrobe.

While designed as a maxi dress, it typically falls about 4 inches above the ankle on someone who is 5-foot-7, giving it more of a midi-length appearance on taller wearers. There are eight colors available, including six floral options and two abstract wave patterns for those who want something a little more unique.

The dress features a stretchy smocked bodice that comfortably accommodates a range of body types while providing a flattering fit. A square neckline and wide shoulder straps help keep everything secure and comfortable throughout the day. The double-tiered ruffle hem and flowy A-line silhouette create beautiful movement, making it a great choice for vacations, outdoor events, and sunny afternoons.

Practical details make it even more appealing. Side pockets provide a convenient place to stash small essentials, while the lightweight construction makes it comfortable for long days of sightseeing, brunch dates, beach trips, resort vacations, cruises, and casual summer outings. It's one of those dresses you'll reach for repeatedly because it's so easy to wear.

One reviewer described the dress as “light, breezy, and super comfortable,” writing, “I found this dress quite flattering. This sweet summer sundress has a cute boutique look and some vintage style notes; I love the small floral print, and the layered skirt tiers."

The dress also features a smocked bodice, tiered skirt, ruffle detailing, and lightweight fabric that makes it especially useful for vacations and beach days.

A reviewer said the dress is “perfect for summer and travel,” writing, “One of my favorite features is how versatile it is — it works well as a high-waisted maxi skirt, and I love that it can also be worn as a strapless dress. The length is great, and it moves nicely when you walk.”

Prince George Is Going To Eton—Did Kate Middleton Lose A Battle With Prince William?

Fri, 06/19/2026 - 6:11am

Prince George is going to Eton College in the fall—meaning Kate Middleton may have lost a battle with Prince William.

Kensington Palace recently confirmed that the 12-year-old future king is set to follow in his father Prince William and uncle Prince Harry's footsteps, who are both alumni of the elite boys-only boarding school.

But how much does it cost, and was it the Prince and Princess of Wales' first choice of school for their oldest son?

Here's what the royal family probably doesn't want you to know!

Eton was founded in 1440 and costs an eyewatering $84,000 per year. It educates boys aged between 13 and 18 and accepts 270 students per year.

Realistically, George was always going to start attending Eton when he turned 13, despite rumors that he might attend Kate's alma mater of Marlborough College.

Related: This Is What Princess Charlotte’s New Title Will Be When Prince William Becomes King

There have been suggestions of a briefing war between William and Kate that has been waged via the British press since 2023, with Kate strongly pushing for their son to be educated at Marlborough.

Kate was a student at Marlborough between 1996 and 2000. Although not as prestigious as Eton, it is still an elite school.

Because it is co-ed, Princess Charlotte (11) could have theoretically joined her brother as a boarder when it was time for her to begin high school.

As second and third in line to the throne, George and Charlotte occupy roles in society outside that of the rest of their peers, and although it is a privileged position it must be lonely as well.

It perhaps makes sense that Kate would want her two oldest children to have the option for turning to each other for company while attending school away from home.

Charlotte in turn could have eventually been joined by her 7-year-old brother Prince Louis.

George, Charlotte, and Louis are all currently students at Lambrook School.

And who knows—when the time comes, perhaps both Charlotte and Louis will end up at Marlborough. But as far as George is concerned, Marlborough is out and Eton College is in.

Although George will be a boarder, he will still be only a 15-minute drive from his family's home of Forest Lodge in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

When William was a student at Eton, he often swung by Windsor Castle to have tea with his grandmotherQueen Elizabeth II.

William began attending Eton in 1995 when he was 13 years old and was accompanied on his first day by his parents Prince Charles and Princess Diana, as well as his brother Prince Harry.

Harry would go on to enrol at Eton in 1998.

Twenty British prime ministers have been students at Eton, and the school is said to play an important part in forming social connections that are crucial for students who go on to forge political careers, as well as careers in journalism, medicine, education, law, and the arts.

So you can see why William may have put his foot down concerning the Wales's choice of school for George.

If you're a fan of the hit Netflix show Bridgerton, you'll have heard Eton referred to throughout the series—it's the school that all of the men in the Bridgerton family attended.

In real life other notable alumni include the actos Tom Hiddleston, Eddie Redmayne, and Hugh Laurie.

Because Eton is so old it has many rules and codes of conduct that might be seen as archaic and obscure, but which persist in the present day.

For example, it has 25 boarding houses each with its own set of colors. On George's first day he will be presented with the 'colors test' and will have to prove that he has memorized the colors for all the houses.

If George hands in a piece of schoolwork that isn't up to scratch, the teacher will punish him by giving him a 'rip' (a tear at the top of the page.) If he racks up too many 'rips' then he gets a 'white ticket' and he'll be subjected to a progress report.

If he breaks the school's rules, he might receive the punishment of copying out hexameters of Latin poetry by hand. Depending on the degree of rule-breaking this might consist of Lines (100 hexameters) or the more severe punishment of Georgic (500 hexameters!)

Or he might simply be ordered to weed a housemaster's garden.

Melanie Sanderson, managing editor of Good Schools Guide, told Hello!, "Eton, above all the other schools, has a breadth that's really unparalleled. All the other public schools have extracurricular opportunities, in theatre and on the sports pitch, but Eton really does take it to another level. Eton very much delivers on the global stage. [George] will be rubbing shoulders with the children of the great and the good from all around the world."

She went on to remind readers that George will be head of the Church of England one day, and that chapel remains "a central part of Eton."

Eton's website reads, "Today, the Chapel services retain their important position in the life of the College: boys attend once on Sundays and at a number of other voluntary services throughout the week."

Your Summer Glamping Trip Can Now Earn You American Airlines Miles

Fri, 06/19/2026 - 6:10am

If your idea of a summer road trip involves spectacular wilderness without the spectacular backaches of sleeping on the ground, you're in luck: pitching a tent has officially leveled up. Today's travelers can look past the traditional hassles of roughing it, opting instead for high-end safari tents that feature plush king beds, West Elm furnishings and private, en-suite bathrooms. But while choosing a luxury outdoor property is an excellent way to get close to nature, it traditionally meant leaving your hard-earned travel rewards behind. A new loyalty partnership is changing that equation, ensuring your summer mountain and desert getaways pay off at the airport.

World of Hyatt and American Airlines AAdvantage have officially launched a joint limited-time offer that lets travelers earn 1 bonus AAdvantage mile per eligible $1 spent on upscale glamping stays.

The promotion is valid for qualifying stays completed between June 5 and September 13, 2026. What makes this a major win for award collectors is the ability to double-dip: the airline miles hit your account entirely on top of the standard World of Hyatt base points you already accumulate. You simply need to be a member of both loyalty programs and register for the promotion online by September 12, 2026, making sure to book your stay through official Hyatt distribution channels.

If you're looking to truly maximize your return on investment, this airline promo drops right alongside a highly lucrative secondary offer for co-branded credit cardholders. If you already managed to register your World of Hyatt Credit Card for their summer cardmember promo before the June 12th deadline, you can stack your rewards even further. On stays completed through September 8, 2026, registered cardholders earn a staggering 20x total points per dollar spent at these exact same glamping locations—making it remarkably easy to fund your next major flight and luxury resort stay simultaneously.

Whether you're using a rewards card or just earning basic points, this promo includes a handpicked list of properties perfect for a summer road trip.

For a classic Northeast road trip, the promotion includes the newly opened Under Canvas White Mountains in New Hampshire, which officially welcomed its first guests on June 4, 2026. Set across 86 scenic acres on the western edge of the mountains, the camp features sweeping views of Mount Washington and the Presidential Range. It serves as a highly localized, upscale basecamp for hitting the Appalachian Trail or taking a panoramic afternoon drive down the famous Kancamagus Highway, before returning to the camp's indoor-outdoor restaurant, Embers, for locally sourced seasonal dishes.

If your summer plans point toward the West, you can route your points and miles toward Under Canvas West Yellowstone, located just 10 minutes from the park's west entrance on a prime Montana ranch. The property gives you immediate, uncrowded access to Yellowstone's iconic geysers and wildlife trails, balanced by premium amenities like organic bath products, live acoustic music by the communal fire pits and custom craft cocktails at the camp's outdoor Bronco Bar.

ULUM Moab features contemporary suite tents equipped with upscale amenities and private viewing decks looking out at Utah's red rocks.

Hyatt

For an ultra-luxury desert retreat, the promo extends to ULUM Moab in Utah’s canyon country. Tucked into towering red rocks just steps from the iconic Looking Glass Arch, the resort features contemporary suite tents with private viewing decks and upscale Aesop amenities. It's a spectacular spot to spend your days hiking and canyoneering, cooling off in one of three outdoor dipping pools, and sampling Southwest-inspired cuisine at the on-site restaurant. You can even elevate your stargazing by booking a specialized Stargazer tent at properties like Under Canvas Yosemite, which features a custom viewing window cut directly into the canvas roof right above your bed.

Ultimately, the summer rollout highlights a seamless way to maximize your vacation budget without sacrificing comfort. You no longer have to separate your love for the great outdoors from your obsession with elite travel status. It turns out the smartest way to experience the wilderness is falling asleep to the sound of nature in a premium safari tent, knowing every single dollar spent is quietly fueling your next premium cabin getaway.

1979 No. 1, Once Called the 'Best Song of the Summer,' Remains a Party Favorite Nearly 50 Years Later

Fri, 06/19/2026 - 6:03am

A beloved 1979 classic was once hailed as the "Best Song of the Summer," and its popularity hasn't slowed down since.

Chic went all the way to No. 1 in the summer of 1979 with "Good Times." The dance hit captured the carefree spirit of the season, becoming an anthem for those looking to dance the night away.

Billboard listed the Disco Music classic as one of the Top Songs of the Summer from '79. Other tunes listed from that season included Donna Summer's "Bad Girls," and "Hot Stuff," Anita Wood's "Ring My Bell," and The Knack's "My Sharona."

Additionally, Rolling Stone ranked "Good Times" as the Best Summer Song of All Time. It beat out other feel-good classics such as Martha and the Vandellas "Dancing in the Street" (1965), Marvin Gaye's "Got to Give It Up" (1977), and The Beach Boys' "California Girls" (1965).

Rolling Stone wrote, "According to Chic, the sporting life includes clams on the half shell and roller-skating. And as the song that provided the groove for the very first hip-hop hit, the Sugarhill Gang’s 'Rapper’s Delight,' it stands tall as the proud parent of more subsequent summer jams than any song in history."

According to History, the song's connections began after Sylvia Robinson heard a DJ rapping over records in a Harlem club. She asked her son to find some people he knew who could rap, and chose Chic's "Good Times" as their backing track. The song soon became a smash hit and the first commercially successful rap single.

Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards, Chic's founders, threatened legal action for use of their song without their consent. They received songwriting credits on "Rappers Delight," and both songs circled one another on the charts, and in popular culture, throughout the Fall of 1979. "Rapper's Delight" was later inducted into the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry in 2011 for its influence on popular culture.

Nile Rodgers told Uncut Magazine (as reported by Songfacts) that "Good Times" was written and recorded in one day.

"I wrote 'Good Times' the morning we recorded it. Bernard was a little late to the studio, but I'd already written out the charts for everybody in the band. We were playing when Bernard walked in," he began.

"He asked the engineers, 'What the hell is that?' The engineer said, ' I don't know, something Nile wrote this morning.' We'd been trying for years to come up with this walking bassline, putting it over and over again on all sorts of songs, but we could never get it right. But that day, I started screaming 'Walk!' over Tony's drums. Bernard said, 'What?' I was shouting 'Walk!' On that particular day, he walked."

RELATED: 1979 Disco-Funk Anthem Became a Breakthrough Hit for All-Female Family Band

"We get this amazing extra funky thing. I just told the engineer, 'Make it red!' We recorded it. That was it. One take, maybe two."

"Good Times" may have been released almost 50 years ago, but it remains a party anthem to this day. The summertime classic still has a way of bringing people together whenever its familiar groove comes on.

Rosie O'Donnell Says 'The View' Hasn't Invited Her Back — and Is Still Holding a 20-Year Grudge

Fri, 06/19/2026 - 5:50am

In an apparent change of heart, Rosie O'Donnell says she'd be open to guest-hosting The View — despite previously insisting she had no interest in returning while Whoopi Goldberg remained at the table.

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, O'Donnell was asked whether she'd follow former co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck's lead and return to the panel. O'Donnell said she'd be willing to do it, adding, "but they haven't asked me."

The comment marks a notable shift from O'Donnell's stance in 2020, when she said she wasn't interested in returning to The View as long as Goldberg occupied a seat.

"I think we all agreed ... that it was better for everyone. Whoopi really didn't like me," she said during an interview with Howard Stern (via Entertainment Weekly).

O'Donnell also took a swipe at Hasselbeck's recent return, arguing that "in the time of Trump," the former co-host is exactly the "perfect person they want on TV spouting their rhetoric."

And while nearly two decades have passed since their infamous on-air feud, O'Donnell made it clear she's still holding a grudge over one aspect of their explosive final clash. Referring to the split-screen broadcast used during the confrontation, she said, "I'm still annoyed," before adding, "Mommy knows how to hold a grudge."

The grievance isn't new. Last year, O'Donnell suggested the split-screen was orchestrated, despite what she described as a genuine friendship she and Hasselbeck had developed behind the scenes during their time on The View.

“Like, I bent over backwards for this woman, and here she was comin’ at me on national TV about whether or not I was patriotic,” she told People in 2025. “It felt to me like I was on a basketball team of five women and one of them kept tripping me on my way to the hoop.”

O'Donnell said she had no idea producers planned to broadcast the fight using a split-screen.

“And, you know, our producer [was] not an on-the-fly kind of guy,” she remarked, referring to the late Bill Geddie. “He wasn’t, like, Mr. Let’s-go-to-a-split-screen. That was prepared. The whole thing, I think, was a setup.”

1960s 'Best of All Time' Classic Rock Staple to Play at Epcot Food & Wine This Fall

Fri, 06/19/2026 - 5:45am

If your perfect fall vibe involves snacking your way around the world and rocking out to legendary bands by the water, EPCOT is the place to be. Autumn in Central Florida hits different—the summer crowds are thinning out, the food is incredible and the concert lineup this year is officially stacked. Whether you’re a die-hard classic rock fan or love modern radio hits, your ultimate fall getaway playlist just dropped.

The full lineup for the EPCOT Eat to the Beat Concert Series presented by Enterprise just dropped, and it’s running nightly from August 27 through November 16, 2026.

While the festival is packing the calendar with a massive mix of pop, country and alt-rock, the biggest news for classic rock fans centers on the ultimate kings of summer soundtrack vibes. The Beach Boys—the absolute legends behind generation-defining anthems like "Good Vibrations" and "California Girls"—are officially locked in for a highly anticipated two-night run on November 11 and 12.

But those legendary surf-rock pioneers are just the tip of the iceberg. This year’s festival is going all-in on a mix of throwback favorites and fresh talent, including a record-breaking nine artists making their official EPCOT debut. Indie-pop and country fans can look forward to first-time performances from Fitz and The Tantrums, blues-rock powerhouse Grace Potter, and country sensation Lauren Alaina, alongside cool new additions like the soulful duo The War and Treaty and Boston indie-pop band Couch.

If you live for a good throwback, the rest of the calendar is basically a masterclass in radio history. Depending on when you visit, you can catch everything from the timeless vocal harmonies of Boyz II Men and '90s mainstays Smash Mouth to millennial alt-rock icons like Yellowcard, New Found Glory, Bowling for Soup and The Fray.

Catching a show is incredibly easy, making it a breeze to weave some live music right into your dinner plans. The best part? Every single concert is completely included with your standard EPCOT park admission. Headliners hit the stage three times a night—at 5:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m., and 8:00 p.m.—with seating inside the amphitheater handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Because these big-name artists draw passionate crowds that can wrap around the World Showcase promenade, scoring a prime seat sometimes means waiting it out in line. If you want to skip the queues entirely, Disney is dropping its popular Eat to the Beat Dining Packages on July 16, 2026. Booking one lets you pair a delicious lunch or dinner at top-tier spots like Le Cellier Steakhouse or Biergarten with a guaranteed, reserved seat for that night's performance.

Plus, since the open-air theater is steps away from over 30 global festival marketplaces, you can easily grab a plate of artisan snacks or a cold drink to enjoy during the show. Honestly, this lineup is the perfect excuse to gather your favorite people for a spectacular night of live hits under the stars.

The Summer Solstice Opens a New Chapter for Every Zodiac Sign

Fri, 06/19/2026 - 5:33am

Are you ready to have the best summer ever? Everyone’s favorite season officially begins with the summer solstice on June 21, 2026. Not only is this the first day of summer, but it’s also the first day of Cancer season. Emotions will run high during the longest, brightest day of the year. Unlike past summers, the astrology of summer 2026 says the zodiac signs are in for an intense, fateful, and karmic season. Everything destined for your zodiac sign starts during the summer solstice.

There’s a summer solstice message for every zodiac sign. Everything that happens on the first day of summer will foreshadow what each zodiac sign will experience over the coming weeks. Depending on your star sign, you might be destined for connection, ambition, or something else. Read on to find out what the summer solstice means for your zodiac sign.

Summer Solstice 2026 Timeline
  • June 21, 2026: Summer solstice and the sun enters Cancer
Your Summer Solstice Horoscope Message, Based on Your Zodiac Sign

Keep reading, and look for your Sun, Moon, and Rising signs.

Aries: Create New Memories

You’re in for a whimsical summer, Aries. This season might be initially emotionally tough, as the summer solstice calls attention to your fourth house of nostalgia, family, and childhood. Intense feelings will unfold as old memories rise to the surface. You might feel a little sad when you recall past summers. Don’t let this bog you down. Think of this summer as your chance to create new memories. Ample opportunities to travel, hang out with friends, and enjoy your life will present themselves over the next few weeks. Look at the summer solstice as just the beginning of all the fun you’re destined to have and remember.

FURTHER: Your Zodiac Sign's 8-Year Forecast: Uranus Enters Gemini

Taurus: Stay Local

Participate in your community, Taurus. Your third house of locality, communication, and interest will be activated during the summer solstice. Part of you may dream of traveling far away, but the summer solstice says you should consider staying local. There’s so much to do in your neighborhood if you’re willing to get involved. Upcoming social activities and events will pull you out of your comfort zone. Neighbors and other familiar faces might become new friends if you’re open to it. You could even start attending groups and other hangouts aligned with your niche interests. Take your time exploring what your backyard has to offer—you might be pleasantly surprised.

Gemini: Comparison is the Thief of Joy

Financial worries and insecurities could get in the way of summertime fun, Gemini. You’ll be especially aware of your second house of personal finances, value systems, and stability during the summer solstice. It might feel like everyone else is off galivanting on expensive excursions and luxurious vacations. Watching everyone else flaunt their wealth might put a damper on your summer plans. Instead of assuming that someone else is better off than you, remember that you cannot always take what you see or hear at face value. Focus on getting your money up, so that you can splurge on outings and experiences all summer long.

Cancer: You Are Powerful

Come out of hiding, Cancer. Step into the spotlight when the summer solstice illuminates your first house of identity, selfhood, and appearance. After fighting for your life the last few months, the summer solstice will remind you who you truly are. You will feel empowered as you embody the sun’s strength and vitality. The summer solstice is just the beginning of what you will go on to do and become this season. As long as you’re willing to show face, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. Enhance your confidence by embracing your beauty. Feeling comfortable in the skin you’re in will take you so much further.

Leo: Take Your Time

Take your time, Leo. There’s no need to rush, as the summer solstice unfolds in your twelfth house of mystery, isolation, and unconsciousness. You may not feel quite ready for summer to begin. Maybe you need more time to plan your activities and figure out your goals. You might also be battling a case of the blues. Either way, give yourself time to settle into this season. Allow yourself to move slowly and intentionally instead of beating yourself up for not being as excited as everyone else. Trust that your time will come when your season begins on July 22, 2026. Until then, focus on finding your groove.

Virgo: Say “Yes” to Last-Minute Plans

Don’t overthink it, Virgo. The summer solstice asks you to be spontaneous, as your eleventh house of networking, collaboration, and friendship heats up. Usually, you like to have plans and events on your calendar weeks in advance. Preparing for outings and socializing is your preferred method. Although admirable, the summer solstice says you cannot plan last-minute fun. You never know where the day will take you, since the most exciting adventures will pop up when you least expect it. Unforeseen changes in your plans, new developments, and unexpected invitations will create lasting memories. As long as you’re flexible, you can experience so much fun.

Libra: The Sky’s the Limit

Success arrives this summer, Libra. Your tenth house of notoriety, accomplishment, and career will be enhanced during this season. The summer solstice fuels your ambition and sharpens your focus. While everyone is lounging at the beach or by the pool, you’ll be working toward your next big achievement. In particular, a significant professional milestone is on the horizon. You may feel called to change your career path, rise up in the ranks, or become established in a specific industry. Whatever it might be, the stars have aligned in your favor. As long as you’re dedicated and invested in your ambitions, you will not lose.

Scorpio: Get Out Of Dodge

Where could you go, Scorpio? The world is your oyster when the summer solstice unlocks your ninth house of journeying, adventure, and travel. A strong desire to escape and never come back has been building throughout the last few months. Between dealing with work and personal responsibilities, you need a break. Luckily, the stars have aligned in your favor. You may not know where you’re going or how you’ll get there, but you’re destined to jet set. Solo travel might even be in your future if you’re determined to get away. Regardless of how it all works out, take this as your sign to start packing your bags.

Sagittarius: Nothing Will Ever Be the Same Again

A pivotal chapter is about to begin, Sagittarius. The summer solstice will herald change in your eighth house of transformation, taboo, and intimacy. But you already knew this. Omens, dreams, and other intuitive messages have already warned you that this summer will be unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. If you want to truly reap the rewards of this season, you must be ready for confrontation. Ugly truths, daunting realizations, power plays, and more will become glaringly obvious. Addressing the elephant in the room will be uncomfortable; however, it will also give you the upper hand to change your life for the better.

RELATE?: Venus in Leo Brings Passion and Power—4 Zodiac Signs Feel It Deeply

Capricorn: Choose Carefully

Be intentional with your commitments, Capricorn. The summer solstice advises you to choose carefully as your seventh house of arrangements, partnerships, and contracts comes into focus. You might want to take a second look at professional and personal commitments. If you’re not mindful, you could sign up for a summer full of work. Coworkers and clients will become overwhelmingly needy; romantic and platonic partners will demand more from your connection. Regardless, you don’t want your whole summer to revolve around someone or something else you’re not passionate about. Consider all your options, so that your arrangements and relationships elevate your summertime experiences.

Aquarius: Happy & Healthy

Life is what you make of it, Aquarius. Take control of your life when the summer solstice nurtures your sixth house of habits, routine, and wellbeing. You have an amazing opportunity to change your life. Listening to your body is the first step. Checking in with yourself will help you figure out your health goals. Paying attention to what your body and mind needs will help you identify what kind of lifestyle changes you need to make. The progress might be slow at first, but remaining consistent throughout the summer will pay off. Prioritizing your wellness will have unforeseen ripple effects with your happiness, confidence, and overall energy.

Pisces: From Fling to Forever

Someone could become your everything, Pisces. Your love life will get heated once the summer solstice awakens your fifth house of dating, romance, and sex. If you’re single, trust there will be plenty of fish in the sea. Potential love interests will pop up all summer long. Explore each connection, but don’t settle down too quickly. Keeping yourself open to love will help you call in someone special. But if you’re coupled up, then this is your chance to lock it down with your lover. Let them know you’re ready for something more. No matter your relationship status, this is the summer to enjoy everything your love life has to offer.

Henry Winkler Handled a ‘Happy Days’ Heckler in a Way That Was Pure Fonzie

Fri, 06/19/2026 - 5:05am

Henry Winkler was one of the biggest stars of the 1970s due to his iconic role on Happy Days. The actor played Arthur ”Fonzie” Fonzarelli for all 11 seasons of the ABCsitcom, from 1974 to 1984, and the leather-jacketed auto mechanic’s tough guy ‘tude became an essential part of the show.

But early on, Happy Days struggled in the ratings—to the point that showrunner Garry Marshall sent Winkler and his co-stars on the road to promote the sitcom.

During a recent appearance on Ted Danson’s Where Everybody Knows Your Name podcast, Winkler shared, "In the beginning, the show was not doing very well. Happy Days was not doing very well. There were 100 shows. We were 48th. And in that calculus, we were not doing well. So, they sent us out into the world. They sent us to different cities to make personal appearances.”

Winkler recalled a fan event at the Neiman Marcus store in Dallas, Texas, where an unbelievable 25,000 fans showed up to meet the Happy Days cast, which included Ron Howard,Anson Williams, and Donny Most. The actor shared that the massive crowd blocked the path for him and his co-stars to get into their limousine. When Most (Ralph Malph on the show) expressed fears that the group would “die” getting out of there, Winkler stepped into Fonzie mode, complete with his signature tough guy voice.

“And I have never used the Fonzie’s character offscreen. I turned to Donny, and I saw his panic,” Winkler said as he segued into his signature Fonzie voice. “I said, ‘I will take care of this.’ And I just looked at the crowd, and I said, ‘All right, listen up. A lot of you. Four of us. You are now going to part like the Red Sea.’ I swear to God.”

But the money didn’t stop there. While the fans obeyed Winkler’s command, one heckler decided to make a comment about Winkler’s height. The actor is 5-foot-5.

“We started walking. Now somebody said, ‘He's so short,’” Winkler recalled. “I turned to where I thought I heard it and I said, ‘F--- you. I'm not short!’ Then somebody else yelled, ‘He's so cool.’ And then we got in the car and left.”

Winkler may not have been the tallest of the Happy Days guys, but his commanding voice and naturally cool style made him the perfect choice for the role.

The actor was 27 years old and a graduate of the Yale School of Drama when he auditioned for Happy Days. But Winkler initially wasn’t sure he was right for the Fonzie role as he read lines with a man named Pascal.

“I only have six lines. And I don’t know where it came from
I changed my voice,” Winkler shared on the IMO With Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson podcast earlier this year. “I’m looking at him. I’m a scared short Jew. I’m playing a tall Italian. I threw the script up in the air. I walked out of the room.”

During an appearance on Who's Talking to Chris Wallace?, Winkler shared that while Happy Days producers originally envisioned Fonzie as "a taller Italian kid,” he ultimately wowed them during his audition.

He was offered the part on his 28thbirthday.

"They got you know, this short Jew from New York, but all I did was change my voice," Winkler recalled. "I introduce myself as Henry, and then as I started to do it, something overtook me ... And I changed my voice like this, and it unleashed me."

'Toy Story 5' New VoicesBonnie – Scarlett Spears Scarlett Spears also played Young Glinda in Wicked: For Good.

Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic

Nine-year-old Scarlett Spears takes over the role of Bonnie, which was previously voiced by Madeleine McGraw in Toy Story 4. Spears may not be in double digits yet, but she's one of Hollywood's most exciting young stars. The Florida native got her start on the long-running soap opera General Hospital back in 2022 and played the younger version of the title character in 2025's Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado.

Most recently, she played Young Glinda in Wicked: For Good. But voicing Bonnie is so special for Scarlett. "My mom was a little girl and watched it, and now I'm in the movie!" she told Entertainment Tonight at the premiere.

In Toy Story 4, we saw Bonnie go crazy for Forky—a toy spork she crafted on her first day of kindergarten. Forky quickly became Bonnie's most cherished toy, but things turn a corner in Toy Story 5, when bullies tease her for still playing with toys and she's given a new tablet named Lilypad.

Lilypad – Greta Lee Greta Lee voices Lilypad.

Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic

If you've seen The Morning Show, the voice of Lilypad will most definitely sound strikingly familiar. That's because Lily is voiced by scene stealer Greta Lee, who played UBA network president Stella Bak from Seasons 2-4.

The role of Lilypad marks uncharted territory for Lee, who also dazzled critics in 2023's Past Lives. "I can't believe any of this!" she told Good Morning America on June 18. "I was twelve when the first one came out, so this whole franchise means so much to me."

As for Lilypad, she's a frog-shaped tablet who wants to help Bonnie make friends and thrive at school. But it's totally different from the way the toys want to help. For example, while Jessie's idea of making new friends is in the literal sense, Lily believes this is done by just adding them on social media. “I love that even though Jessie and Lily are polar opposites, they both fundamentally care about Bonnie,” Lee told RottenTomatoes. “That is something that they do have in common, but with very different tactics, obviously.”

Blaze – Mykal-Michelle Harris 14-year-old Mykal-Michelle Harris attends the red carpet premiere of Toy Story 5.

Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic

Mykal-Michelle Harris joins the Toy Story universe as Bonnie's animal-loving BFF Blaze. Blaze bonds with Jessie after Bonnie becomes more interested in her new tablet. "She's one of the coolest 9-year-olds I've ever met," Harris told ABC. "I think it's because she's so brave and she loves animals, and she's always herself."

In real life, Harris is 14 years old, and she's no stranger to Disney—or voice acting. The New Jersey native played Alice in Raven's Home and since 2024, she's starred in the title role on Disney Jr.'s Ariel.

Smarty Pants – Conan O'Brien

He's one of Hollywood's most self-deprecating stars, so it's no surprise that Conan O'Brien had no qualms about playing a potty-training toy named Smarty Pants!

When #Pixar asked me to join the cast of #ToyStory 5 I said “only if I can play a potty-training device called Smartypants.” The rest is history. Congrats to the whole team and thanks for having me along. pic.twitter.com/JE0r9qCjhM

— Conan O'Brien (@ConanOBrien) June 11, 2026

In the film's earliest production stages, Smarty Pants was originally going to be an actual pair of pants. But then, a Pixar intern named Naomi Ureythe came up with the idea to make him a potty-training toy that's shaped like a roll of toilet paper! It's certainly not O'Brien's first foray into animation. He spent two years writing on The Simpsonsand guest starred as himself in Season 5.

Atlas – Craig Robinson Craig Robinson plays Atlas, a GPS toy hippo.

Most people know him as Darryl on The Office, but Craig Robinson has also had a phenomenal career in voice acting. He was Cookie in Shrek Forever After, George in Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters and Mr. Shark in The Bad Guysmovies.

Now, Robinson enters the Toy Story universe as Atlas, a GPS toy hippo who's long been forgotten in Blaze's tech junk drawer. That is, until new batteries bring the happy-go-lucky hippo back to life. "He's old school tech," Robinson told The Atlanta Voice. "He's gonna get you there, and you can count on him."

Shelby Rabara as Snappy Shelby Rabara grew up in Orange County, California, where she was a Disneyland season passholder!

Jesse Grant/Getty Images for Disney

Steven Universe fans know Shelby Rabara as Peridot, but in Toy Story 5, she's Snappy—an excitable camera toy. Just like Atlas and Smarty Pants, she's old-school tech and the trio works together to help Jessie on her journey. "Recording Snappy was a dream come true," Rabar said at the red carpet premiere. "She's just this excitable camera and she's always there to help."

Check out the trio in action in this sneak peek!

Combat Carl – Ernie Hudson Ernie Hudson voices Combat Carl, who was originally played by the late Carl Weathers.

Joe Maher/Getty Images

Ghostbusters legend Ernie Hudson voices Combat Carl in Toy Story 5. The action figure was previously voiced by the incredible Carl Weathers, who passed away in February 2024. Both are legends, but what makes this casting choice extra special is that Hudson and Weathers were actually close friends in real life.

But knowing he'd be taking over for his late friend was a complete surprise. "I was very happy to be included but I didn't know I was stepping in for Carl, who was a good friend," he told TMZ. "I think the fact that I didn't know in the beginning was probably for the better."

Matty Matheson as Dr. Nutcase Matty Matheson's Dr. Nutcase had a memorable moment in the Toy Story 5 trailer!

Valerie Macon/AFP via Getty Images

Fans of The Bear will immediately recognize Dr. Nutcase—he's voiced by Matty Matheson. The Canadian star was originally a chef before he transitioned into acting. So who's Dr. Nutcase? That would be the tiny peanut daredevil in a luchador costume who loathes electronics with every fiber of his being. He's the toy Woody finds strapped to a kite in a tree in the trailer, and his dramatic "We're doomed!" is already a fan favorite moment.

Blaze's Mom – Krys Marshall Krys Marshall is all smiles at the red carpet premiere of Toy Story 5.

Amy Sussman/WireImage

While news of For All Mankind and Paradise star Krys Marshall's casting was revealed months ago, her actual role was unannounced—until now. She voices Mrs. Manoukian, Blaze's sweet and kind mother. "Becoming a part of the Toy Story franchise has been an absolute dream come true," she wrote on Instagram. "And getting to share this special moment with my kid is the cherry on top. Thank you Andrew Stanton, for bringing me on this wild ride. Little Me is somewhere doing a Happy Dance."

Evil Bullsye – Alan Cumming Alan Cumming's role may be a cameo, but it's bound to be unforgettable.

Weiss Eubanks/NBCUniversal via Getty Images

In the history of Toy Story, we've never heard the voice of Woody's beloved horse, Bullseye. That will change in Toy Story 5—well, sort of. Alan Cumming voices Evil Bullseye, described as Bullseye's mischievous alter ego who comes to life in Blaze's imagination. "Don't expect too much, as it is a cameo, but it is quite exciting as this character has never had a voice before," Cumming said of the role.

Mr. Pricklepants – John Hopkins John Hopkins steps into the role of Mr. Pricklepants.

Alan Chapman/Dave Benett/Getty Images

British actor John Hopkins takes over the role of the dignified plush hedgehog Mr. Pricklepants. The role was previously voiced by James Bond himself, Timothy Dalton, in both Toy Story 3 and 4. Outside of his Pixar debut, Hopkins is known for Poldark and Midsummer Murders.

Bad Bunny as Pizza with Sunglasses Bad Bunny went from making Toy Story videos to joining the franchise!

Theo Wargo/Getty Images

Global superstar Bad Bunny also has an iconic cameo as Pizza with Sunglasses—an effortlessly cool pizza slice who lives with other forgotten toys in an abandoned backyard shed. Pixar reportedly sought him out after noticing his genuine love for the franchise and once in the recording booth, he improvised lines in both Spanish and English. So cool!

Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head – Jeff Bergman and Anna Vocino Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head are voiced by Jeff Bergman and Anna Vocino.

Jesse Grant/Getty Images

The absolutely legendary Don Rickles voiced Mr. Potato Head from the very first film in 1995 up until his passing in 2017. The comic's family loved the character so much that they gave Pixar permission to use existing recordings so he could appear one last time in Toy Story 4. Meanwhile, the incomparable Estelle Harris perfectly voiced Mrs. Potato Head until she died in April 2022 at the age of 93.

Toy Story 5 carries their legacy forward with veteran voice actor Jeff Bergman stepping in as Mr. Potato Head and Anna Vocino taking on Mrs. Potato Head. "We found two people that sounded very close to the original actors," Director Stanton shared in a Reddit AMA.

"I mean, these two people were legends, and we have big shoes to fill," Vocino told The Porterville Recorder. “I had to do a massive deep-dive and just try to embody everything that's hilarious, and the way that she talks is so iconic, and just such a fabric of who she was.”

1983 Classic Rock Hit, Inspired by a Motorcycle Trip, Remains an Anthem for the Open Road 43 Years Later

Fri, 06/19/2026 - 4:33am

Bob Seger is known as one of the pioneering icons of heartland rock, and his knack for storytelling through songs is legendary.

With songs such as “Turn the Page,” “Travelin’ Man,” and “The Highway,” the Michigan-born rocker also became synonymous with open-road anthems. One of his biggest came in 1983 with “Roll Me Away.”

Written by Seger for the 1982 Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band album The Distance, “Roll Me Away” featured an anthemic guitar melody and the singer’s signature rasp as he belted out lyrics about the lure of the open road on his “big two-wheeler.” The accompanying music video boasted open-road scenery and a rider on a Honda V65 Magna.

Released as a single in May 1983, “Roll Me Away” became a summer Top 40 hit, peaking at No. 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 on July 27, 1983. Forty-three summers later, it remains a road-trip anthem inspired by a real-life ride.

Bob Seger was inspired by a motorcycle trip to Wyoming

In 1994, Seger shared the back story of “Roll Me Away” in an interview with The Detroit Free Press.

“That was written about a motorcycle trip I took to Jackson Hole, Wyoming,” he revealed. “I wanted to do that for a long time. It was fascinating being out. The first night it was 42 degrees in northern Minnesota; the second it was 106 in South Dakota, and all I had on was my shorts, and my feet were up on the handlebars to keep them from boiling on the engine.”

“It was just silence and feeling nature,” the music legend added of the road trip.

Seger has long maintained his love for driving and motorcycles in particular. In 2011, he told Huff Post, “I love to go out on my motorcycle alone.”

He also told Motor Trend that his favorite driving destination was the “American West.” "Michiganders, we love to drive,” he said in 2014. “I just love to drive. Ride out, see something new, get away from things that bother you, and take a trip.”

Seger, now 81, retired from touring in 2019, but out of his entire catalog of songs, he chose “Roll Me Away” as the theme when he hit the road for the final time. Seger’s Roll Me Away: The Final Tourwrapped in November 2019.

Holland America’s Flagship Trades the Summer Heat for a First-Ever Fall Mediterranean 'Coolcation'

Fri, 06/19/2026 - 4:10am

If you love exploring Europe but absolutely dread fighting the intense summer crowds and blistering heat waves, the cruise industry’s savviest travelers will tell you that autumn is the ultimate sweet-spot window to cross the Atlantic.

In fact, rising global temperatures have officially ushered in the era of the "coolcation"—a massive travel shift where vacationers deliberately bypass peak-summer swelter in favor of milder climates and shoulder-season timelines. If you're already looking ahead to your 2027 travel calendar to schedule a sophisticated, culture-focused getaway, Holland America Line just dropped a major piece of news that brings its top-tier vessel to a brand-new backdrop.

For the very first time, the cruise line is officially deploying its flagship, Rotterdam, to the Mediterranean for a dedicated autumn 2027 season.

Athens, Greece

Holland America Line

It's a highly anticipated premiere for the flagship, which is traditionally a mainstay in Northern Europe and the Caribbean. Bookings have officially opened for a roster of five curated itineraries, spanning both the Western and Eastern Mediterranean. Ranging from 10 to 11 days, these voyages are specifically engineered to offer deeper exploration, packing a mix of iconic, high-demand ports alongside smaller, less-visited destinations.

The beauty of the schedule is how easily it prioritizes extended time ashore, featuring late-evening departures and overnight stays so you can actually experience local nightlife. The season kicks off on October 17, 2027, with a 10-day voyage from the Netherlands to Barcelona, stopping in premium spots like Bordeaux, Lisbon and Bilbao. From there, the flagship transitions into a series of deep-dive Mediterranean loops:

  • Mediterranean Splendor (Oct. 27): An 11-day route from Barcelona to Athens that covers Marseille, Florence, Rome, Naples and the stunning medieval streets of Kotor, Montenegro.
  • Greek Isles & Istanbul Overnight (Nov. 7): A 10-day round-trip from Athens that includes a full overnight stay in Istanbul, giving you ample time to explore the markets and architecture, alongside stops in Mykonos and Rhodes.
  • Egypt & The Holy Land (Nov. 17): An 11-day deep dive calling at Alexandria (for easy access to Cairo), Cyprus, Turkey, and an overnight stay in Haifa.
  • Italian Splendor & Volcano Cruising (Nov. 28): A 10-day transit from Athens back to Barcelona that hits Malta and Sicily, featuring specialized scenic cruising through the Strait of Messina and directly past Stromboli—one of the world's most active volcanoes.

For travelers who want a truly epic autumn escape, Holland America is making it incredibly easy to combine these single itineraries into much longer, back-to-back "Collectors' Voyages" without repeating ports. The entire Mediterranean season then wraps up on December 8, 2027, with a relaxing, 14-day transatlantic crossing from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale, stopping in Valencia and Tangier, Morocco, along the way.

"We know how much our guests love sailing on Rotterdam, and the Mediterranean is always in high demand," says Paul Grigsby, Vice President of Revenue Planning. "There's something really special about seeing the flagship sailing in iconic ports like Bilbao, Naples and Rhodes for the first time."

Bringing the Rotterdam into the mix is part of a much larger autumn and winter expansion for the line, which will see more than 20 regional sailings spread across a four-ship roster including the Nieuw Statendam, Oosterdam and Zuiderdam. Onboard, you can expect the line's signature premium amenities—including their highly rated Mariner's Dream euro-top mattresses, the Grand Dutch CafĂ©, and their global fresh fish program.

Ultimately, the new 2027 deployment proves that the smartest way to tackle a bucket-list destination is timing it perfectly to escape the heat.

One of Rock's Most Powerful Voices Turns 76 Today

Fri, 06/19/2026 - 4:09am

In 1950, one of the most powerful voices in rock music was born.

Ann Wilson, the lead singer of Heart, turns 76 on June 19. Over a career spanning more than five decades, Wilson helped transform Heart into one of the most successful rock bands of all time, selling more than 35 million records worldwide and producing classics such as "Magic Man," "Crazy on You," "Barracuda," "Alone" and "These Dreams."

Alongside her sisterNancy Wilson, Ann became one of the first women to front a major rock band, helping open doors for generations of female rock musicians who followed. Heart placed 29 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and scored Top 10 albums across four different decades, an achievement few rock acts can match. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.

Wilson's vocal ability has long earned praise from critics and fellow musicians. In 2006, she was included on Hit Parader's list of the 100 Greatest Rock Vocalists of All Time, one of only four women to make the list. More recently, BBC Music Magazine included her at on its May 2026 list of Rock's Greatest Frontwomen, praising her "soaring voice," "technical mastery," and "emotional impact."

Her influence was on display again last month at the Grammy Hall of Fame Gala, where singer Heather LaRose described Wilson's voice as "a sound and sight to behold" while reflecting on Heart's performance of "Magic Man," "Dreamboat Annie" and "Crazy On You." LaRose wrote that Wilson's performance proved "female rock stars are ageless."

Despite decades of success, Wilson continues to evolve as an artist. In a May 2026 interview with Rolling Stone, she said she has become increasingly focused on writing poetry and lyrics, explaining, "I consider myself to be a lyricist, now, especially."

That interview coincided with the debut of her documentary Ann Wilson: In My Voice, which explores her life outside of Heart and traces her journey from a shy young singer in Seattle to one of rock's most respected performers. Reflecting on how age has changed her perspective, Wilson told the magazine, "I'm more philosophic."

The documentary also arrived after one of the most challenging periods of her life. In 2024, Wilson revealed she had undergone treatment for cancer, forcing Heart to postpone tour dates. By 2025, she had returned to the stage, even performing in a wheelchair after suffering a broken arm.

"I went through a serious health journey with cancer and came through the other side of it clear," Wilson told Rolling Stone in May. "I feel fabulous now."

That resilience has defined much of Wilson's career. Whether delivering the thunderous vocals of "Barracuda," the emotional power of "Alone" or Heart's celebrated performance of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" at the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors, she has remained one of rock's most commanding performers.

As Heart continues touring and Wilson continues creating new music, her legacy remains secure. More than 50 years after Heart's breakthrough, her voice is still one of rock's most recognizable instruments.

And at 76, Ann Wilson shows no signs of slowing down.

'Dance Queen,' With Six No. 1 Hits, Turns 64

Fri, 06/19/2026 - 4:02am

Today, in 1962, Paula Abdul was born in San Fernando, Calif., and the multi-hyphenate personality's vibrant dance moves continue to prove that age is nothing but a number. Currently, she may be instantly recognizable from her American Idol days, but her career spans several decades.

Celebrating her 64th birthday this year on June 19, Abdul fell in love with dance at a young age after being inspired by the classic musical, Singin' in the Rain (1952), according to Britannica. A dedicated jazz and tap dance student for many years, she later became a cheerleader in high school, and in college, earned a spot with the Los Angeles Lakers' cheer squad, the Lakers Girls, where she stood out among her peers and became head cheerleader and choreographer within just a few months.

Abdul was first discovered by Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5, and was tapped to choreograph their "Torture" music video in 1984.

Gaining fame as a music artist in the late 1980s, she became known for dance-pop hits like “Forever Your Girl” and “Opposites Attract.” Her debut album, Forever Your Girl (1988), was a major success, producing four No. 1 singles, including "Straight Up," "Forever Your Girl," and "Cold Hearted."

In 1990, Abdul won a Grammy Award for her "Opposites Attract" music video, and in total, she has notched six No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100.

Over the years, she has appeared on reality competition shows like Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, and The Masked Dancer. In addition, Abdul embarked on her first tour in 25 years in 2016, as a supporting act for headliner New Kids on the Block. Two years later, she launched a solo tour, and from 2019 to 2020, Abdul had her own Las Vegas residency.

The dancer-singer-TV personality earned the nickname "Dancing Queen" because of her pioneering choreography in pop music and impact on pop culture's dance/music scene in the '80s and '90s. Her ability to seamlessly add vocals to athletic, dynamic dancing made her one of the defining entertainers of the era.

A 1990 AMAs performance withJanet Jackson is particularly memorable for longtime fans.

"Today, whether alive or deceased, thanks to their popularity and ability to move the masses, sell out millions of records, concert tickets, and merchandise, singers have secured their honorific nicknames through their positive impact on music," Hola! reported, naming Abdul the Dance/Dancing Queen.

As an original judge on American Idol, she joined Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson in being the faces of what became a cultural phenomenon. Honoring her time on the show, she shared an Instagram post last week on its anniversary: "@americanidol premiered 24 years ago today! đŸ’« Being part of this show from the very beginning has been one of the greatest experiences of my life."

Few symbols are more closely tied to Dolly Parton than the butterfly; a motif that reflects both her softer, whimsical side and the strength behind her decades-long career. Inspired by her beloved “Iron Butterfly” persona — a nod to her balance of grace and grit — this four-piece accent plate set brings that imagery into the home in a way that’s playful, personal, and unmistakably Dolly.

Each plate features a mosaic-inspired print that mimics the look of hand-laid glass, giving every piece a jewel-like shimmer. The set includes two butterfly designs alongside two floral blooms, all in vibrant shades of pink, red, and blue that feel lively. Look a little closer, and there’s an added detail fans will appreciate: Dolly’s signature is printed on each plate.

Made from durable stoneware, they’re microwave- and dishwasher-safe. Measuring 7 inches long, 6.3 inches wide, and just shy of an inch high, they’re sized for small bites, desserts, or salads, and arrive in a gift-ready box that makes them an easy pick for collectors, Dolly fans, or anyone who loves garden-inspired designs.

Even though the collection recently launched, Dolly and home decor fans shared their thoughts on this charming set. “These little colorful plates are wonderful for snacks," one said. "They just make you happy,” one shopper wrote.

Quote of the Day: Actor John Wayne on 'Courage' and 'Saddling up Anyway'

Fri, 06/19/2026 - 2:42am

Before John Waynebecame a fixture of Hollywood's Golden Age, he was a baby boy born on May 26, 1907, according to his official website. Originally named Marion Robert Morrison, Wayne was from Winterset, Iowa, where he grew up playing football with his father and brother.

A move to California in 1916 surely set Wayne's film career in motion, when he earned the nickname of "Duke." Wayne went on to attend college at the University of Southern California, where he played football and joined a fraternity. While he was there, he worked part-time at Fox Film Corp (which later became 20th Century Fox and, long after Wayne worked there, 20th Century Studios). It was here that Wayne got his first taste of the silver screen playing a football player as an extra in several movies.

In the 1940s, he became a household name, a on-screen legend many people still love today. In 1964, he was diagnosed with lung cancer. Despite being warned to keep the diagnosis to himself because of his image, Wayne became very vocal about the disease.

According to the History Channel, Wayne died at the age of 72. While he ultimately lost a lung to his cancer in 1964, he rallied and had several good years before being diagnosed with stomach cancer in 1979, dying just months after learning he had been afflicted once again.

Quote of the Day by John Wayne

Parade/CanvaPro

"Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway."

The quote from Wayne is attributed to his battle with cancer. And while the exact origin of this quote has never been definitively confirmed, it is widely attributed to Wayne.

Wayne first found out he had cancer in 1964, according to the John Wayne Cancer Foundation, and while he initially beat that version of the disease, stomach cancer later took his life. He became deeply devoted to helping others with cancer, which is where many believe the quote stemmed from.

Deeper Meaning of John Wayne’s Quote—On 'Courage' and 'Saddling Up Anyway'

Wayne was famously full of bravado and frequently played hard and rough cowboys on the silver screen. However, that on-screen persona carried over into his real life when he was diagnosed with cancer, and he appeared to rely on that macho version of himself as he got ready for the fight of a lifetime.

Saying that "courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway" means acknowledging your fear (in this case, his cancer) but going on to fight anyway. Many people believe that this act—stepping up to face your fears when you are admittedly terrified—is a bigger sign of bravery than tackling something that doesn't scare you at all.

Wayne likely made this statement to make amends with the way he felt about his health battle, noting that he was frightened of the road ahead, but still willing to walk down it anyway...a feeling that many who have faced a diagnosis like cancer or other chronic disease likely know well.
