Ella Langley, With Major No. 1 Hit Song, Stuns With Red Carpet Outfit

Mon, 05/04/2026 - 12:56am

Ella Langley brought her undeniable star power to the star-studded annual 2026 Billboard Women in Music event.

Fresh off scoring her first major No. 1 hit, the country star wowed everyone with charisma and striking fashion choices as the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles lit up with the industry’s glitz and glam.

Hosted by Keke Palmer, the red carpet was filled with stars dressed to the nines as they strutted their jaw-dropping looks in long gowns, while some, like Tyla and Korean pop star Ejae, opted for a creative red carpet outfit.

As for Tate McRae, Teyana Taylor and Victoria Justice, they went for a sultry chic style with corsets.

On the other hand, Langley went for a modest and elegant look for the evening.

The 27-year-old singer took to social media to share behind-the-scenes moments during the event.

Langley’s outfit featured an all-white suit set from Schiaparelli that highlighted the designer’s signature structured tailoring.

The ensemble featured a long-sleeved fitted blazer paired with a high-waisted pencil-cut skirt. She completed the look with black peep-toe heels and a black and gold clutch from the Italian fashion designer.

Apart from the simple white ensemble, she left the audience in awe after hitting the stage in a Markarian Odessa paneled jacquard gown.

As for her glam, the singer went for dramatic yet minimal makeup while styling her hair in a messy updo.

“What a massive honor to receive the Powerhouse award last night. Thank you, @billboard!” the caption reads.

Fans swooned over the Alabama native, praising her effortless look and standout red carpet presence.

“ICONIC AS HELL,” one wrote.

“Ella is my style icon @schiaparelli,” a commenter said.

“Ms. Ella is looking beautiful here,” a follower remarked.

Apart from the reactions regarding her red carpet look, fans are also congratulating the singer for her recent achievement.

“Stunning! Congratulations on your well-deserved award,” an Instagram user commented.

“Congratulations, but please don’t go Hollywood on us. We love that country girl vibe. Stay true to yourself,” a fan said.

The same goes for another who noted, “Congratulations on the award, proud of you. This album is making you open up more and you are here. You lost yourself, but you overcame and conquered. That's what being her is all about. I wish you the world because you deserve it. There's plenty more coming your way in life so just stay strong and be her.”

Presented by fellow country singer Lainey Wilson, Langley was honored with the prestigious Powerhouse Award, a recognition given to artists who have shown commanding presence and commercial dominance through radio play, streaming and sales.

During her acceptance speech, the rising country star expressed her deep gratitude for the people who helped her succeed in her career.

“To me, Powerhouse is strength, resilience,” she said, adding, “It's coming back when you don't necessarily want to, but you feel like ‘I'm going to, I'm gonna fight for this, I'm gonna fight for this thing that I love to do.’ And this is something that I've wanted to do my whole entire life. There hasn't been another dream for me. There wasn't a day that I wanted to be anything else.”

The singer also added that all the years of her hard work didn’t go to waste and that being recognized as a “Powerhouse” in music proves that her efforts paid off.

Prior to her Billboard Women in Music award, Langley’s “Choosin' Texas” entered the Billboard Hot 100 and reached No. 1 in February 2026.

The single also topped the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts, marking a historic moment as the longest-running No. 1 by a woman on a country song.

Why Valerie Bertinelli Is Choosing 'Batman' Over a New Boyfriend

Mon, 05/04/2026 - 12:00am

Valerie Bertinelli is taking a break from dating.

The actress opened up to Pause Rewind about her love life at the premiere of her new film, Love, Again. When asked about a return to dating, she replied with a simple “Oh, hell no."

“2024 sucked the life out of me,” the Food Network star said. Bertinelli and her now ex-boyfriend, Mike Goodnough, broke up in November 2024.

For now, she is happy with her current bedmate.

“I sleep with a black cat. That tells you everything you need to know about me. And I love that furry little 11 lbs," she said.

“I sleep with Batman,” she added, referencing the DC Comic character her feline is named after. “What do I need?”

The 66-year-old actress revealed more about her love life in her recently released memoir, Getting Naked: The Quiet Work of Becoming Perfectly Imperfect.

Bertinelli shared she “would love to have a great special love” in her life. “I have special loves in my life,” she continued.

“I have my son. I have my daughter-in-law. I have my brothers. I have my family. I have my girlfriends. I love them. But there's something about intimate love that I would love to have,” the actress said.

Bertinelli was married to Van Halen band member Eddie Van Halen from 1981 until 2007. The couple had one child, Wolfgang Van Halen.

She remarried to financial planner TomVitale in 2011. They divorced in 2022.

In her memoir, Bertinelli revealed she “couldn’t crack the code of lasting love.”

“Romance has never been easy for me, never even sane,” she wrote. “It’s a messy math equation — love, marriage, divorce — and I’m terrible at math. Worse at marriage.”

If the Emmy Award-winning actress gets back out there, she knows she’ll need to be cautious.

“But I'm also really gun-shy, because, like I said, 2024 sucked the life out of me,” she said. “So, I'm gonna have to be really, really careful.”

1978 Punk Rock Classic, Based on '50s Musical Film, Ranked Among 'Greatest Songs of All Time'

Sun, 05/03/2026 - 11:43pm

A fast, emotional punk song from 1978 is getting fresh attention after earning a spot on Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Songs of All Time.”

“Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve)” by Buzzcocks ranked No. 276, reminding fans why the track still matters decades later.

The song, written by Pete Shelley, first became a hit in the United Kingdom, reaching No. 12 on the charts. It was also included in the band’s album Love Bites. Today, critics and music lovers continue to celebrate it as a defining moment in punk rock history.

Rolling Stone praised the band’s unique sound, noting how they created something new in music. The publication highlighted how Shelley’s voice carries emotion, especially in the line, “Ever fallen in love with someone you shouldn’t have fallen in love with?” That question, simple yet powerful, helped make the song unforgettable.

The story behind the song is just as interesting as its sound. Shelley got the idea from a surprising place: a 1955 musical film. While on tour in 1977, he watched Guys and Dolls in a hotel room. He heard a line spoken by a character: “Wait till you fall in love with someone you shouldn’t have.” That moment stuck with him.

Shelley later recalled how the phrase caught his attention. “I thought, ‘fallen in love with someone you shouldn’t have?’ Hmm, that’s good.” The next day, he wrote the lyrics while sitting in a van outside a post office.

The song was also personal. Shelley said it was about a man named Francis Cookson, someone he had lived with for years. At a time when it was risky to openly talk about same-sex relationships, the song used careful wording. This allowed listeners to connect in their own way while Shelley expressed real feelings beneath the surface.

The music itself helped push boundaries. The song mixes fast punk energy with catchy pop melodies. Its structure follows a verse-chorus pattern, but it uses unusual chord changes that give it a slightly sad and edgy tone.

Critics have long praised the track. NME named it the No. 1 “Track of the Year” in 1978. Music writer Ned Raggett called it a “deservedly well-known masterpiece.”

Over the years, the song has been covered by many artists and featured in films, TV shows and even video games. A 1986 version by Fine Young Cannibals became another hit, showing how the song could reach new audiences.

Even now, the track continues to connect with listeners. Its message about love, confusion and vulnerability feels just as real today as it did in 1978.

1973 Musical Film, Named After Song From Iconic Singer, Ranked Among ‘Best Movies’ Right Now

Sun, 05/03/2026 - 10:48pm

A long-lost music documentary filled with legendary performers is getting fresh attention after being ranked among the best movies currently streaming on Netflix by The New York Times.

The 1973 concert film Save the Children, directed by Stan Lathan, was recently included in The New York Times’ updated list of the “50 Best Movies on Netflix Right Now.”

The movie takes viewers back to the 1972 PUSH Expo in Chicago, a five-day event organized by Jesse Jackson and Operation PUSH to celebrate Black excellence in music, education, business and culture.

The documentary features performances from some of the biggest stars of the era, including Marvin Gaye, The Jackson 5, Bill Withers, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Curtis Mayfield, The Staple Singers, Isaac Hayes, Smokey Robinson and The Temptations.

Gospel singer Reverend James Cleveland and Reverend Jesse Jackson perform onstage at the PUSH "Save The Children" concert in a film still from the movie of the same name which was released in 1973 in Chicago, Illinois.

The film gets its title from Marvin Gaye’s 1971 song “Save the Children,” which appeared on his landmark album What's Going On. The emotional song focused on love and concern for future generations and became one of the documentary’s most memorable musical moments.

According to The New York Times, Gaye’s performance of the title track is “one of the most memorable performances” in the film.

Despite its all-star lineup, Save the Children nearly disappeared after its original 1973 release through Paramount Pictures. For decades, the movie had no official home-video release and rarely appeared in public screenings.

The documentary was digitally restored in 2023 before arriving on Netflix, allowing a new generation of viewers to discover the film more than 50 years later.

Speaking to Variety, director Stan Lathan explained why the movie vanished for so long.

“It kind of disappeared for years because Paramount kind of… I wouldn’t say they dropped the ball, but they released it in a few cities, and when it didn’t perform the way they wanted it to, they kind of put it down, and then somehow it got lost in the Paramount archives,” Lathan said.

He added, “So it took us a long time to find it, and then when we found it, we had to do a lot of fixing up. We didn’t change anything content-wise, but it looks good, the soundtrack is great, and I’m thrilled about this.”

Producer Alan Elliott said one major highlight is the rare footage of The Jackson 5 at the height of their fame.

“This is the only film footage, not TV footage, but film footage of the Jackson 5 in 1972, and they are the biggest thing in the world at that time,” Elliott said. “They are Taylor Swift; they are the Beatles.”

The movie also mixes concert footage with scenes from Black neighborhoods in Chicago, showing the culture and community surrounding the historic event.

The PUSH Expo brought together artists from Motown, Stax, and Atlantic Records in a rare collaboration led by music executive Clarence Avant.

Audiences can see performances across several genres, including soul, jazz, gospel, funk, blues and rock. Among the standout moments are Bill Withers performing “Lean on Me,” Sammy Davis Jr. singing “I’ve Gotta Be Me” and a young Michael Jackson leading The Jackson 5 on stage.

Variety described the documentary as more than a simple concert movie, calling it “the story of the culture of the time and how it represents America at that time.”

The restored version of the film also screened at the 2024 Chicago Film Festival, where many original attendees reunited with the filmmakers decades after the event first took place.

Today, the rediscovered documentary is finding a wider audience online, with viewers revisiting a major moment in music history through performances that had been hidden for years.

’70s Music Icon Made Scene-Stealing Sitcom Debut 34 Years Ago

Sun, 05/03/2026 - 10:34pm

Patti LaBelle made her mark in the industry with timeless music, achieving her major breakthrough in the mid-’70s as part of the all-girl group LaBelle.

Thirty-four years ago, the iconic singer made a bold move that helped pave the way for her expansion into television, further showcasing her versatility as an artist.

Following the rise of the trio group, thanks to their hit song “Lady Marmalade,” she launched a solo career in the mid-’70s, sparking her global pop star status.

From chart-topping hits and a successful music career, Patti LaBelle explored opportunities beyond music.

Apart from Broadway performances, she had her first on-screen appearance as a guest in the PBS series American Playhouse.

This was followed by her big screen debut in the 1984 Academy Award-nominated film A Soldier's Story.

With the warm embrace of the public, the singer became a familiar presence on television, which prompted the sitcom A Different World to add her as part of their cast.

Created by Bill Cosby as a spin-off of the hit TV program The Cosby Show, the NBC series enjoyed a successful run, airing for six years from 1987 to 1993.

On May 3, 1990, the award-winning singer was introduced as Adele Wayne, the protective mother of protagonist Dwayne Wayne, played by Kadeem Hardison.

Patti LaBelle joined the sitcom in Season 3, which featured unexpected iconic scenes, among which is the comedic rivalry with Diahann Carroll’s character, who played Whitley Gilbert-Wayne's socialite mother, Marion Gilbert Height.

On top of this, the "On My Own" hitmaker also showcased her vocal range on screen, weaving her singing prowess into the story as part of her character.

A Different World highlights her talent through the show’s musical scenes. One particular episode was the 1990 Christmas special, I'm Dreaming of a Wayne Christmas, which appeared in Season 4.

Patti LaBelle appeared in eight episodes, with her final appearance on the show’s Season 6, Episode 18.

In a 2024 interview with People, former cast member Ron Johnson reflected on his experience working alongside some of the most talented stars of the ’80s and ’90s.

"From Lena Horne to Patti LaBelle to Diahann Carroll to Richard Roundtree to Tupac, Heavy D, Gladys Knight, Kris Kross ... all these guest stars were just spectacular."

Moreover, he also revealed the singer-actress’ habit of cooking for them and bringing food on the set.

"I mean, every time. She would not come here if food was not coming with her," he shared, adding "That's a big thing. So, for anyone who thinks that Patti’s cooking shows are just something designed for TV, nope, that's that's the real Patti. That's how she rolls."

On the other hand, her on-screen success led her to star in her own sitcom, Out All Night, in 1992.

1984 Soundtrack Ranked No. 1 of All Time Is Getting New Recognition 42 Years Later

Sun, 05/03/2026 - 10:09pm

When Prince released Purple Rain in 1984, it didn’t just top charts—it would go on to be ranked the greatest soundtrack of all time.

Now, more than four decades later, the landmark album has been named one of Barnes & Noble’s Albums of the Month for May 2026, placing it alongside a mix of modern and legacy favorites.

The honor is part of the retailer’s monthly vinyl spotlight, and Purple Rain stands out as the clear heavyweight in the group. Originally released as the soundtrack to the film of the same name, the album blended rock, pop, and R&B into something cinematic and emotionally charged—equal parts guitar thunder and synth shimmer.

It also remains one of the most commercially dominant albums ever released. Purple Rain spent 24 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and produced multiple chart-topping hits, including “When Doves Cry” and “Let’s Go Crazy.” With more than 25 million copies sold worldwide, it marked the commercial peak of Prince’s career and cemented his status as one of music’s most innovative forces.

The recognition from Barnes & Noble comes on top of decades of critical acclaim. Purple Rain has been repeatedly ranked among the greatest albums ever made, including by Rolling Stone, which named it the No. 1 greatest soundtrack of all time. The publication has also placed the album at No. 8 on its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time—an acknowledgment not just of its chart dominance, but of its lasting influence on pop, rock, and R&B.

The album’s connection to the film only amplified its reach. Purple Rain, the movie, became a cultural phenomenon in its own right, blending music and storytelling in a way that helped redefine what a soundtrack could be. Prince’s performance, both on screen and in the studio, turned the project into something larger than a typical album release.

Barnes & Noble’s May selections don’t stop at Purple Rain. The list also includes Cruel World by Holly Humberstone, a synth-pop record exploring identity and young adulthood; Love Deluxe by Sade, widely praised for its smooth, atmospheric take on heartbreak; and 200 km/h in the Wrong Lane by t.A.T.u., the early-2000s Eurodance breakout that recently found new life thanks to a TV sync.

Still, it’s Purple Rain that carries the deepest cultural weight. Decades later, that impact hasn’t faded. If anything, honors like this suggest the opposite: some records don’t age—they just keep spinning.

1998 Indie Hit Ranked Among 'Greatest Soundtracks of All Time'

Sun, 05/03/2026 - 10:06pm

Beloved filmmaker Wes Anderson finally won his Oscar just a few years back with his short film The Wonderful Life of Henry Sugar. Check it out on Netflix now!

But his award-winning movies have spanned decades, with Anderson's very first project with frequent collaborator Bill Murray having been released way back in 1998.

In addition to its quirky comedy and first-rate performance, Rushmore is also cherished by fans for its standout soundtrack. And in 2024, Rolling Stone ranked the coming-of-age film at No. 12 on its sprawling list of 101 Greatest Soundtracks of All Time.

"Wes Anderson originally conceived of the Rushmore soundtrack as being made up entirely of songs by The Kinks," the magazine wrote at the time. "But with due respect, it wouldn’t be nearly as good if it was."

Here are some highlights from the spread of songs featured in the film, which also stars Jaosn Schwartzman and Olivia Williams:

  • "Here Comes My Baby" by Cat Stevens
  • "A Quick One, While He's Away" by The Who

Max turns to the father (Murray) of two of his schoolmates for advice on how to woo the teacher. 1996 Academy Award-Winning Film That Took 22 Years to Release Ranked Among ‘Best Movies of All Time’

Sun, 05/03/2026 - 9:57pm

Some films take years to make. Others take decades. A rare few become even more powerful because of it.

When We Were Kings, directed by Leon Gast, is one of the unusual projects that required extraordinary patience, taking more than 20 years to complete before finally reaching audiences. Eventually, Gast's film was ranked among the best movies of all time by Rotten Tomatoes.

The documentary centers on the legendary 1974 "Rumble in the Jungle" boxing match between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman in Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo). But, the film goes far beyond the fight itself, capturing the cultural and political significance of the event, as well as the global spotlight it brought to Africa.

"Ali had said over and over again, 'How's [Forman] gonna hit me? I'm gonna dance. I'm too fast for him,' and everybody expected he would run," Gast told Charlie Rose of the now-iconic fight. "And when he came out, he immediately ran across the ring. [...] Ali was not afraid of him and he wasn't dancing. He realized that George was a lot faster than he was, and the ropes were slack. He could lean back and Foreman punched himself out. And eventually, Ali had conserved his strength and in the later rounds he was able to knock him out."

Filming began in the 1970s, but the project quickly ran into financial and legal setbacks, leaving much of the footage unfinished for years. It wasn't until the 1990s that Gast was finally able to return to the material, assembling decades-old footage into a cohesive and deeply compelling narrative.

"There was something about Ali that just his presence and how he was conscious of the camera, but in a way different than anybody I had ever worked with," Gast told BBC.

When it was released, the film was met with widespread acclaim.

When We Were Kings went on to win the 1997 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, with critics praising its ability to blend sports, history and culture into a richly layered story. Its immersive approach and emotional depth helped it stand out as one of the most important documentaries of its time and in all of sports history.

Today, When We Were Kings stands as both a cinematic achievement and a testament to determination, proving that even after decades of delays, a story this powerful can still leave an unforgettable mark.

'Mini-Me'! Princess Charlotte Draws Inspo From Mom Kate Middleton's Wardrobe in 11th Birthday Portrait

Sun, 05/03/2026 - 9:41pm

Princess Charlotte is looking more like her mom, Kate Middleton, every day, and the portraits for her 11th birthday show that they share a similar style.

The Prince and Princess of Wales released new photos of Charlotte to celebrate her birthday on May 2. The preteen could be smiling in a navy blue sweater with red stripes and jeans. While she looked absolutely darling, showing off her long brunette hair, her affinity for a striped sweater echoed a look Kate, 44, has been known to wear.

Kate has worn a casual striped sweater on several occasions. In 2022, she looked cute and sporty during a sailing event in Plymouth, England, while she was still the Duchess of Cambridge. She paired her navy and white striped Erdem sweater with white high-waisted shorts by Holland Cooper and white Superga sneakers.

In 2019, she inverted the color combination while keeping the same vibe during an event to launch the King's Cup Regatta. The royal mom of three wore a navy and white Breton-striped sweater and high-waisted wide-leg trousers by L.K. Bennett, adding a red clutch for a pop of color.

The Princess of Wales also loves a striped jumper for non-royal duties. She brought 22-month-old Prince George to watch his dad, Prince William, play in a polo match in 2015, just six weeks after giving birth to Princess Charlotte. Kate was photographed sitting on the ground and running around with George in a blue and white striped Breton top from ME + EM and slim-fit Topshop maternity jeans.

It’s no surprise Charlotte has taken fashion cues from Kate, as she takes after her mother in a lot of ways. A royal insider told People, "She's clearly sporty like her mother. A bit of a mini-me.”

Although Kate and William are raising young royals in the spotlight, the Princess of Wales has stressed the importance of being a present and down-to-earth parent. The couple famously does not have any live-in staff at their private residence, Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park. Kate reflected on her parenting philosophies while talking about what she wanted her kids to remember about her during an appearance on the “Happy Mum, Happy Baby” podcast in 2020.

“I thought that was a really good question because actually, if you really think about that, is it that I'm sitting down trying to do their maths and spelling homework over the weekend? Or is it the fact that we've gone out and lit a bonfire and sat around trying to cook sausages that hasn't worked because it's too wet?” she said. “That's what I would want them to remember, those moments with me as a mother, but also the family going to the beach, getting soaking wet, filling our boots full of water, those are what I would want them to remember.”

Sun, 05/03/2026 - 9:08pm

Survivor legend Russell Hantz is preparing for his reality TV comeback!

On Friday, May 1, Hantz shared he's joining the cast of a show 15 years after his last appearance on the CBS reality series. However, he did not reveal which series he'll allegedly be joining.

"I have literally received 4 different offers to do 4 different shows this year alone. I have finally said yes to one of the offers! See you guys soon!" Hantz wrote.

In the replies, fans began speculating as to what his next project could possibly be.

"Cant wait to see you on Traitors. Letsss goooo!!!" one fan wrote. "House of Villains or Traitors. Gotta be. Let the Russell Renaissance begin!" said another.

"I think I’ll cry if it’s Dancing with the Stars!" added a third.

Hantz previously starred in Survivor: Samoa in 2009, Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains in 2010, and Survivor: Redemption Island in 2011. He placed 2nd, 3rd, and 17th, respectively.

Though it's been 15 years since his last reality TV appearance in the United States, he did briefly appear on Australian Survivor in 2018, placing 23rd.

Despite not appearing in the U.S. version of the series for 28 seasons, he's widely considered one of the most iconic villains the show has ever seen.

“Russell really did reinvent a couple of things," Survivor host Jeff Probst said in a December 2020 video after rewatching Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains. "He’s the first guy who ever said, 'Why do I need to wait for a clue to go look for an idol? How many spots could it be in?' I really was reminded of how impressed I was by his absolute relentless pursuit of any and everything.”

Whitney Leavitt Reportedly Leaving ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’

Sun, 05/03/2026 - 8:42pm

Whitney Leavitt is exiting the cast of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

Leavitt made the announcement during her final performance as Roxie Hart in Broadway's Chicago on Sunday, May 3.

"Whitney just read the headline in Chicago… Whitney Leavitt leaves Secret Lives of Mormon Wives," read a post from sports journalist Melanie Newman on X.

A Reddit post from an alleged audience member also made the same claim, which was later confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.

"At Whitney’s last performance tonight. While in character as Roxy. Officially announces she leaving SLOMW," the post read. "The crowd went wild with cheering."

In the musical, Roxie Hart reads a newspaper with the headline "ROXIE ROCKS CHICAGO" while addressing the audience about her desire to be famous.

Leavitt's announcement comes just two weeks after SLOMW season 5 resumed filming after taking a month-long hiatus in the wake of an alleged domestic violence incident between Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen.

People later confirmed that filming would resume without Paul and Mortensen, though there was no word on any of the other cast members.

Leavitt previously hinted at leaving the reality series to pursue other projects in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in March.

“I wouldn’t be where I am without [SLOMW],” Leavitt said at the time. “But it feels like it’s time to challenge myself in other ways and fulfill these dreams and passions that I’ve been trying to get even before the show.”

“I’m figuring it out in real time,” she added, noting that she and her husband, Connor Leavitt, were “figuring it out together.”

It is unclear if Leavitt, who began her Chicago run on Feb. 2, has filmed anything for the upcoming season.

Leavitt's representative did not immediately respond to Parade's request for comment.
