When a new Scooby-Doo live-action series was announced this year, it was met with mixed reactions. While some Scooby-Doo fans were excited, others wondered how the live-action show would exceed their expectations of the films, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar (Daphne), Matthew Lillard (Shaggy), Freddie Prinze Jr. (Fred) and Linda Cardellini (Velma). 

The new Netflix Scooby-Doo series, Scooby-Doo: Origins, will star McKenna Grace as Daphne, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma, Tanner Hagen as Shaggy and Maxwell Jenkins as Fred. Scooby-Doo: Origins is a modern reimagining of the iconic mystery solvers. Old friends Shaggy and Daphne become wrapped up in a summer camp mystery and solve the case with the help of Scooby, an adorable pup, Velma, the smartest person in town, and Fred, the handsome new kid in town. 

Joe Ruby and Ken Spears created the first Scooby-Doo show, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, which premiered in 1969. After the success of the show, other shows like A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo and What’s New, Scooby-Doo aired on television. Scott Rosenberg (High Fidelity and Everything Sucks!) and Josh Appelbaum (High Fidelity) are the showrunners, writers and executive producers of the upcoming Scooby-Doo: Origins show.

This morning, Netflix announced that the show has officially wrapped production in Atlanta. “Our Great Dane pup and his gang of meddling kids have officially wrapped production on Scooby-Doo: Origins, coming 2027!,” they said in a post on X. They also shared behind-the-scenes photos of the cast and crew.

The streaming platform also posted the same thing on Instagram, and the comments flooded in with excitement. “We’ve never been more seated,” commented the official Scooby-Doo account. Scooby-Doo: Origins will premiere on Netflix in 2027.

Prince Archie appears to be picking up a little something from his dad.

Meghan Markle gave followers their first look into her family’s new life in England on Sunday, September 13, sharing a short montage on Instagram featuring Prince Harry and their children, Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5.

The video includes plenty of sweet family moments, but it’s Archie’s voice that may be the biggest surprise. In one clip, Lilibet rides a bicycle while her older brother runs alongside her. “Go! Go!” Archie can be heard cheering, and his pronunciation sounds distinctly British.

The video begins with Meghan and Harry walking hand in hand before cutting to cozy scenes of the family enjoying the outdoors. Meghan splashes through a muddy puddle, while another moment shows Harry fishing from a boat with Archie and Lilibet. Wham!’s “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” plays in the background soundtrack, while a British flag and red heart remain on screen throughout.

Harry and Meghan returned to the U.K. from California with their children a few weeks back, reportedly arriving at Birmingham Airport on Aug. 26. The move came six years after the couple stepped back as working royals and relocated to North America in 2020. Archie and Lilibet are also reportedly enrolled in school in the U.K., which could mean the family might be sticking around for some time.

Their return has also fueled speculation about Meghan’s professional future. The former Suits star has been linked to a potential role in Season 3 of Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series The Gentlemen. While reports have gone back and forth over whether she’ll actually appear, Netflix’s U.K. scripted chief Manda Levin recently responded to questions about the possibility by saying “all bets are off.”

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but a role would mark another step back into acting for Meghan, who left Suits in 2017 before marrying Harry the following year.

Finding a bed bug in a spotless bedroom can feel baffling. If your home is clean, where did it come from?

The answer has little to do with housekeeping. Bed bugs are hitchhikers that can arrive after contact with an infestation. According to the CDC, bed bugs can turn up in homes, hotels and other settings regardless of how clean the space is. A new infestation does not mean your home is dirty. It means a bed bug—or several—found a way inside.

How do bed bugs start in a clean house?

Bed bugs usually enter a clean house by hitchhiking on luggage, clothing, furniture, bedding or personal belongings. Travel is a common source, but used furniture and contact with infested spaces can also introduce them. Once inside, they hide near sleeping areas and feed at night.

Travel and Hotel Stays

Hotels are a common concern because bed bugs can hide in mattress seams, box springs, headboards and nearby furniture. They don’t need an unclean room to survive. The CDC specifically notes that bed bugs have been found in five-star hotels and resorts as well as homes.

Orkin entomologist Ron Harrison, Ph.D., puts the travel risk simply: “Every traveler should take precautions to prevent bed bugs.”

Keep suitcases closed when you’re not using them. At home, inspect luggage before storing it and consider unpacking clothing directly into the washer or dryer. The EPA recommends using a hot dryer for items that can safely tolerate the heat.

Used Furniture

A curbside couch, secondhand mattress or vintage bed frame can introduce bed bugs even when the furniture looks clean. Inspect secondhand furniture for signs of bed bugs before bringing it indoors. Pay close attention to seams, folds, joints and cracks where insects can hide.

If you cannot thoroughly inspect a used item, leaving it outside is safer than taking an unknown risk.

Guests, Workplaces and Shared Spaces

Bed bugs can also arrive through another person’s belongings. Offices, schools and other public places can serve as transfer points even when a full infestation there is unlikely.

That does not mean you should avoid visitors or public places, but belongings that have been exposed to a potential infestation do deserve closer attention.

What are the first signs of bed bugs?

Early signs include live bugs, shed skins, eggs, tiny dark or rust-colored spots and blood spotting on bedding. Bites are another clue, but they are not enough to identify an infestation because reactions vary and can resemble other skin conditions.

Check These Areas First

If you suspect bed bugs, inspect the places closest to where people sleep:

• Mattress seams and tags
• Box springs
• Bed frames and headboards
• Nightstands and nearby furniture
• Cracks and crevices

Bed bugs generally stay close to sleeping hosts, although the CDC says they can travel more than 100 feet in a night.

Don’t Rely on Bites Alone

Some people develop noticeable bite reactions, while others may show little or no visible reaction. The CDC notes that bite marks can take as long as 14 days to appear in some people.

For that reason, unexplained bites are a reason to inspect—not proof that bed bugs are present.

What should you do if you find a bed bug?

If you find a suspected bed bug, avoid moving furniture, bedding or clothing into other rooms. That can spread an infestation. Instead, document where you found it and inspect the surrounding sleeping area. The EPA recommends inspecting affected and surrounding spaces to determine the extent of the problem.

If you can safely capture the insect in a sealed container or bag, keeping the specimen available for identification can also be useful.

If you have found live bed bugs or repeated signs, professional evaluation is worth considering before the problem spreads. Orkin’s bed bug specialists inspect the home and develop a treatment plan based on the infestation and affected area.

How can you prevent bed bugs after traveling?

Prevention starts before luggage reaches the bedroom. Keep bags off beds during travel, inspect sleeping areas when you arrive and avoid placing clothing on beds or upholstered furniture. After returning home, inspect luggage and launder or heat-dry appropriate clothing.

At home, reducing clutter also makes inspections easier. Mattress and box-spring encasements can eliminate hiding places and make evidence easier to see, while frequent vacuuming can remove some bed bugs.

Does cleaning your house get rid of bed bugs?

Cleaning alone does not reliably eliminate an established bed bug infestation. Vacuuming, laundering and high-heat drying can reduce bed bugs, but the EPA recommends an integrated pest management approach that combines appropriate control methods with careful inspection and monitoring.

Avoid spraying pesticides repeatedly or using products in ways the label does not allow. Improper pesticide use can create health risks without solving the infestation.

When should you call a bed bug professional?

Call for professional help when you find live bugs, continue finding evidence after cleaning or cannot determine whether the pest you’ve found is actually a bed bug. Early identification gives you a clearer picture of where the insects are hiding and whether treatment is needed.

Bed bugs are not known to spread disease to people, according to the CDC, but their bites can cause itching and lost sleep, and trying to eliminate an infestation on your own can be expensive and disruptive.

Josh Applebaum and Scott Rosenberg and their production company—Midnight Radio—will be producing Scooby-Doo: Origins.

Applebaum has written and produced live-action content for animated characters before. He wrote Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016). He was also the creator and writer on Happy Town and October Road and counts Alias and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol to his writing and producing credits.

Rosenberg was a producer on series such as Cowboy Bebop, Knightfall and Citadel. He has written such hits as Con Air, Gone in 60 Seconds and Jumanji: The Next Level.

Greg Berlanti will also serve as Executive Producer. Berlanti is best known for Supergirl, Blindspot, Arrow, Superman & Lois and Riverdale.

Season 1 will essentially be the origin story of our crime-solving quartet and their fearful dog. During their final summer at Camp Ruby-Spears, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder. Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but handsome new kid Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.

What Does Hynde Say About Appearing on Friends?

Hynde pulled a plot twist in 1995 when she guest-starred on Friends as Stephanie Schiffer. The legend performed “Angel of the Morning,” as well as Phoebe Buffay’s iconic tune “Smelly Cat.” When asked about receiving the offer to appear alongside Lisa Kudrow as Phoebe, Hynde told The Guardian she wasn’t even familiar with the beloved comedy series.

“I’d never heard of it, but Warners were putting out an album to accompany this new show and asked me for a song, Angel of the Morning. Then Friends asked me if I could sit in the background in a coffee shop playing it. I got to go to LA for a week and see my friend, but I didn’t know they’d written a whole part for me,” Hynde recalled. “Then Friends was on the cover of every American magazine. I thought: ‘Oh f—, this is gonna be big.’ The cast and everybody were really nice, but I always regretted it because until then, I could take my kids to school and nobody knew who I was. Afterwards, all the kids were saying: “Your mom’s on Friends!”

Elaine Hendrix is an actress known for her iconic character, Meredith Blake, in the 1998 comedy The Parent Trap. Hendrix also appeared in projects like Dynasty, Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, and Freakier Friday.

Hendrix, who is currently 55, recently spoke with PEOPLE at the Celebrating Women of Emmy Season event in Los Angeles on September 10. The star spoke about her favorite part of being in her 50s.

“Number one, I finally have the wisdom that I thought I had growing up,” Hendrix said. “You know, when you’re young, you think you know everything. And I’m wise enough now to go, ‘I don’t know everything, but I do know a lot.’ And that’s good.”

She continued, “The second part to that is that I don’t care. I got all this wisdom, so there are so many things that I thought I needed that now I don’t need. So I’m just — I could sum it up by saying that I’m so much more settled in my own skin.”

She also compared the differences between aging as a man and a woman. “I think it is a little bit of a role reversal, and it’s societal, and it’s chemical,” she said. “Society places so much importance on, you know, strapping young men, being so virile, and then older women are these crones who are supposed to disappear into the woods and talk to woodland creatures all the time.”

Hendrix recently competed on Dancing with the Stars during season 34 and came in fifth place, making it to the finale episode of the competition series. In an Instagram post from August 25, she celebrated the big accomplishment by saying, “When I decided to chase a dream at 54 and proved it’s never too late to live your best life.”

In the caption, she added, “Turns out the best years don’t come with an age limit.”

Joyce DeWitt, who rose to fame on Three’s Company, is absolutely stunning with stark white hair on the red carpet.

DeWitt, 77, skyrocketed to stardom on the hit ABC sitcom Three’s Company, which ran from 1977 to 1984. Also starring John Ritter and Suzanne Somers as three single roommates who live in a sunny California apartment managed by the grouchy Stanley and Helen Roper, the series went down in history as comedy gold. DeWitt played Janet, a florist who has to deal with the wild hijinks of her roomies. This weekend, DeWitt reunited with Ritter’s widow, Amy Yasbeck, to attend a Wings reunion featuring Tony Shalhoub, Steven Weber, and Tim Daly at The John Ritter Foundation Evening from the Heart LA at Sunset Room Hollywood in Los Angeles, California. The organization was created in honor of Ritter, who died suddenly due to a misdiagnosed thoracic aortic dissection, in 2003. Now, the organization spreads awareness of aortic health and works to prevent unnecessary suffering through research, education, and advocacy.

What Has Joyce DeWitt Been Up To Since Three’s Company?

After the hit show ended, DeWitt avoided the same level of spotlight that Ritter and Somers faced. A seasoned theater actress, she’s appeared in a lengthy list of productions over the years. But when recalling her years on the hit show, DeWitt seems to have nothing but fond memories. While he and Somers had a bit of a disagreement when Somers left the show, the duo reunited decades later on Somers’ talk show, Suzanne Somers Breaking Through.

“Whenever something about Three’s Company comes up,” DeWitt said, “I have relentlessly said that it is my opinion that the only reason Three’s Company is worth remembering is that it created an opportunity for all of us to laugh together, to celebrate joy.” 

After Somers died in 2023 at age 76 from breast cancer, DeWitt sent her love to her family.

“My heart goes out to Suzanne’s family,” she said in a statement to PEOPLE. “They are a very close family — deeply connected and caring one to the other.  I can only imagine how difficult this time is for all of them.”

The 1976 satirical film Network has been recognized among the greatest American movies of all time.

Written by Paddy Chayefsky and directed by Lumet, Network follows a struggling television news network that discovers a shocking way to boost ratings: turning the public breakdown of longtime news anchor Howard Beale into must-see television.

The film was also filmed mostly on location in New York, giving its newsroom story a strong connection to the city it portrays. Real offices, apartments and other locations were used instead of relying mainly on studio sets, per Mental Floss. 

The TV control room and news-show sequences, however, were filmed in Toronto because the production could not find a nearby television station available for the required two weeks.

Collider ranked the film at No.6 and highlighted why Network remains a major work of American cinema. It praised Chayefsky’s screenplay for its sharp satire of television executives and their pursuit of ratings. It also pointed to the performances of Peter Finch, Faye Dunaway, William Holden, Robert Duvall and Ned Beatty.

The movie centers on Howard Beale, played by Finch, a veteran news anchor who learns that he is being removed from the air because of declining ratings. His emotional breakdown unexpectedly attracts viewers, and the network soon sees an opportunity to turn his anger into a ratings success.

Much of Network was shot in real locations in New York rather than on studio sets. The decision helped make the fictional UBS network feel like a real television operation. 

That approach also created a practical problem for the filmmakers. Because the windows showed the real city outside, the weather could not simply be changed from one shot to another.

One scene reportedly required Howard Beale to walk through the rain and enter the UBS building soaking wet. The production had filmed an office scene days earlier when it was raining, so rain machines were later used to match the earlier footage.

The location shooting became one of the details that helped give Network its realistic look while keeping the story firmly rooted in the world of New York television.

Network became one of the most acclaimed films of 1976 and earned 10 Academy Award nominations. It won four Oscars: Best Actor for Peter Finch, Best Actress for Faye Dunaway, Best Supporting Actress for Beatrice Straight and Best Original Screenplay for Paddy Chayefsky.

Finch’s Best Actor win made Academy Awards history. He had died before the 1977 ceremony, making him the first performer to receive a posthumous acting Oscar. His widow, Eletha Finch, accepted the award.

Straight also set a remarkable Oscar record. She won Best Supporting Actress after appearing onscreen for only about five minutes. Her performance remains one of the shortest Oscar-winning performances.

The movie’s central cast also includes William Holden as Max Schumacher, Robert Duvall as Frank Hackett and Ned Beatty as Arthur Jensen. Beatty’s performance as Jensen includes one of the film’s most memorable confrontations, as the character delivers a powerful speech about business, corporations and the changing nature of the world.

The film’s famous anger-driven television campaign also produced one of its best-known lines: “I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!”

The phrase became so closely associated with Network that MGM produced 80,000 promotional bumper stickers carrying the line.

The film’s reputation continued to grow long after its original release. The Library of Congress selected Network for preservation in the National Film Registry in 2000, citing its cultural, historical or aesthetic significance. In 2002, it entered the Producers Guild of America Hall of Fame.

The American Film Institute also included Network on its list of the greatest American films, ranking it No. 64 in the 10th Anniversary Edition of its 100 Years…100 Movies list.

Nearly five decades after its release, Network remains a landmark of American satire, built around a television industry willing to turn a troubled newsman into entertainment when the ratings demand it.

Of all her roles, Cox’s favorite is as a devoted mom to Coco, who just turned 22. In a sweet photo back in June, Cox shared a rare shot of Coco as she honored the young woman on her birthday. “I would love to do another one, if anyone wrote a good one. Let’s do it. You heard it here!” Kudrow shared during the interview. “Can we do you, me and Courteney? What would that be?”

In 1989, Don Was finally got his chance to work with Bob Dylan.

The future Grammy-winning producer had wanted to produce Dylan his entire life. But during one recording session, Was suddenly found himself caught between Dylan and another music legend: George Harrison.

As Was recalled during a 2023 appearance on Southern Accents Radio on Apple Music Country, Harrison came into the studio to play a guitar solo while Was was producing Dylan. Before recording, the former Beatle warned Was that Dylan had previously given him only one take.

Dylan apparently heard the warning.

According to Was, Harrison hadn’t even had a chance to tune his guitar or figure out the key when Dylan started recording. After Harrison finished, Dylan declared the take good enough.

Harrison turned to Was for help. Dylan then asked Was what he thought, too.

Was suddenly realized that two of his musical heroes were waiting for his judgment.

“He’s not paying you to be a fan,” Was remembered telling himself.

So he told Dylan the truth: Harrison’s take was good, but they should tune up and try another one.

“I guess I passed Bob’s test,” Was recalled.

Was, who turns 74 on Sept. 13, went on to become one of the most successful producers of his generation. His credits include The Rolling Stones, Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson, Elton John and Brian Wilson, and he has won six Grammy Awards. Records he has produced have sold close to 100 million albums.

He was also part of the ’80s group Was (Not Was) behind the 1987 hit “Walk the Dinosaur,” which climbed to No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100.

His connection with Dylan didn’t end in 1989. Was later played bass on six Dylan recordings made in 2021, including new performances of “Blowin’ in the Wind,” “The Times They Are A-Changin’,” “Simple Twist of Fate” and “Gotta Serve Somebody.”

More than three decades after that nerve-racking studio encounter, Was has certainly earned the right to be in the room with his heroes.

Vinny Appice is a rock and metal drummer who performed with Black Sabbath, Dio, and Heaven & Hell. He is related to drummer Carmine Appice, another popular drummer who was inducted into the Classic Drummer Hall of Fame in 2013. Vinny, meanwhile, was inducted into the Hall of Heavy Metal History in 2017. Today, he turns 69.

Vinny started drumming when he was only nine. He started performing with Black Sabbath in 1980. Before this, he was given the opportunity to perform with the legendary Ozzy Osbourne, but he turned it down.

He told Vinyl Writer Music, “I got a call from Sharon Osborne, and she told me, ‘We’re putting a band together around Ozzy. Right now, Ozzy is in England, and he heard about you. We’re willing to fly you to England and have you hang out with Ozzy.’ Basically, they wanted to see how I got along with him and the guys and if it would work. The thing is, I was really young. I was probably nineteen, or twenty years old, and I had heard crazy stories about Ozzy, God bless him.”

He continued, “So, I asked my brother, and I said, ‘Carmine, I got an offer to go play with Ozzy in England. What do you think?’ Well, Carmine said, ‘Yeah, I confirm that he’s pretty crazy.’ Carmine went on to tell me some stories, and basically, he said, ‘The last time I was with him, we were at the Rainbow Bar and Grill in Hollywood, and we were having a drink and eating. Someone called me, and I turned my head. Well, when I turned back around, Ozzy was passed out in his plate of spaghetti.’ So, I was like, ‘Okay. Maybe I shouldn’t do this.’ It’s so hard to remember, but those are the main reasons that I didn’t take that offer.”

When asked what he was most proud of accomplishing throughout his illustrious career, Vinny stated, “Well, I’m proud of them all. I’m proud that I got to play with Sabbath. I mean, who wasn’t influenced by Sabbath? I am proud that I got to be a part of that special piece of rock history.”

Starting immediately, U.S. travelers looking to book multi-country train adventures will no longer find a Eurail Pass for sale. Instead, everyone worldwide will ride the rails under one unified name: the Interrail Pass.

Why the Iconic Name Is Changing

Since its creation in 1959, the company divided its passes based on where you lived. European residents purchased an Interrail Pass, while overseas travelers—including Americans, Canadians, and Australians—bought a Eurail Pass.

That geographic split is now history. By retiring the Eurail brand and bringing all global riders together under Interrail, the company aims to build one shared international travel community across its network of 33 countries and more than 35 participating railway and ferry operators.

Along with the name change, the company is rolling out The Interrail Effect, a global platform centered around the transformative, slow-travel nature of crossing borders by rail rather than speeding through crowded airport terminals.

“For years, we’ve asked people where they want to go. The more interesting question is who they’ll become when they return,” said Özlem Birkalan, Chief Brand and Commercial Officer at Interrail. “The Interrail Effect isn’t something we invented. It’s something travelers have described to us for decades. Now, we’re building our brand not only around where people travel, but around what traveling this way does to them.”

What This Means for Your Next Trip to Europe

If you’re already planning an overseas journey or holding tickets, don’t worry—the tracks aren’t changing, and you won’t lose your access.

Here’s what travelers need to know right now:

• Your Existing Pass Is Still Valid: If you purchased a Eurail Pass before September 10, 2026, it remains 100% active under its original terms and conditions. You can board your trains without any issues.
• New Bookings Move to Interrail: From here on out, new purchases made by Americans and international visitors will be issued as Interrail Passes directly through Interrail.com. The legacy Eurail website, social media handles, and digital URLs will automatically redirect there.
• The Perks Remain the Same: This is strictly a brand consolidation, not a product downgrade. The Interrail Pass offers the exact same flexibility, country coverage, fare classes, and freedom that defined the classic Eurail experience for generations.

While the name on the ticket may be different, the romance of the rails remains untouched: stepping onto a train with an open schedule, watching the countryside roll past your window, and discovering that the journey across Europe is still the best destination of all.

Founded in 1967, rock band Chicago is known for its unique and pioneering sound, defining a generation through its many chart-topping hits. Today, one of its original founding members celebrates his 82nd birthday.

Peter Cetera, born in Chicago, IL, on Sept. 13, 1944, helmed the vocals and bass from the time of the band’s inception through his departure in 1985, when he left Chicago to pursue a solo career.

Chicago was founded by Cetera alongside bandmates Danny Seraphine (drummer), Walter Parazaider (woodwind player), Terry Kath (vocalist and guitarist), Lee Loughnane (trumpet player), James Pankow (trombone player), Robert Lamm.

In 1976, the band scored a major hit with “If You Leave Me Now,” which climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned a Grammy Award for Pop Performance By a Duo or Group With Vocals. Decades later, the emotional ballad remains instantly recognizable, thanks in part to its appearances across movie and TV soundtracks, including Sex and the City, The Flash, and Modern Family.

The beloved track’s lasting appeal was underscored in 2020, when The Guardian ranked the song at No. 73 on its list of “The Greatest UK No 1s: 100–1,” calling it “impossibly lush and beautifully written” and praising its “pervasive and affecting” sadness.

In total, Cetera, who duetted with Cher in 1989 for the Chances Are theme tune “After All,” featured on 17 albums with Chicago released eight solo albums.

His biggest solo track was 1986’s ‘Glory of Love’ from the Karate Kid II soundtrack, which was nominated for Best Original Song at the 59th Academy Awards.

Stepping away from music in 2019, he said in a podcast interview, “I thought, you know, I’m gonna quit before I lose my voice,” reflecting on the disappointment of seeing a past-their-prime performer on stage. “When you’re on top and flying private … but then, when it all comes back down to earth and you have to get up at 5 in the morning to catch a 6:30 flight, three flights … to get to some casino in the middle of nowhere, and you’ve got to get up the next morning … too much.”

A beloved TV classic is getting a major Hollywood makeover.

Paramount Pictures is developing a movie based on the hit police drama Hawaii Five-O, with Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘s director Destin Daniel Cretton at the helm, according to Variety.

The original Hawaii Five-O premiered in 1968 and ran for 12 seasons, following an elite state police task force in Hawaii led by Steve McGarrett. The series became one of television’s most recognizable crime dramas and was known for its iconic opening sequence and signature catchphrase, “Book ’em, Danno.”

The series was a television institution during its original run, becoming particularly associated with Hawaii itself. Its distinctive opening credits, filmed around Honolulu landmarks and featuring star Jack Lord standing atop the Ilikai Hotel, became one of the most recognizable TV openings of its era.

Now, more than five decades after the original series premiered, the franchise is headed to the big screen.

Cretton is coming off a major year with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which marked his debut directing a film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie, starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker, also features Zendaya, Mark Ruffalo, and Jon Bernthal, has grossed $2.4 billion globally.

Cretton previously helmed Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and has also directed films including Short Term 12 and Just Mercy.

The new movie is the latest attempt to bring the classic franchise to a new generation. Hawaii Five-O was previously rebooted as a CBS television series in 2010, starring Alex O’Loughlin as Steve McGarrett and Scott Caan as Danny Williams. That version ran for 10 seasons before ending in 2020.

Details about the new Hawaii Five-O movie, including its cast, storyline, and release date, have not yet been announced. For now, fans will have to wait to see who will take on the iconic roles when Hawaii Five-O makes its next big-screen appearance.

Long before Liam Neeson was celebrated for his iconic fast-paced action-thriller roles, he starred in the 1990 superhero horror film Darkman, which is now ranked among the most underrated films in its genre.

In a ranking published by Collider, the publication named the 10 greatest superhero movies that were excellent but seemed forgotten.

Darkman joined the list at No. 7, with the publication highlighting the film’s unique premise, particularly how it “feels like a monster film meets superhero cinema.”

In addition, the movie received positive reviews from critics, earning an 80 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer, which reflects the percentage of critics who gave the film a positive review.

Before Sam Raimi directed the Spider-Man trilogy, his first superhero film was Darkman, with Neeson taking on the character of the vigilante known as Darkman.

The movie centers on the transformation of a brilliant scientist named Dr. Peyton Westlake, who is famous for working on synthetic skin, a breakthrough medical technology designed to help burn victims.

Unfortunately, his life was shattered after he was brutally attacked by a mobster and his men, who broke into his laboratory, leaving him disfigured and nearly dead.

The incident transformed him into a vengeful antihero who takes on the different persona.

Darkman was a commercial success, topping the box office with a worldwide gross of $48.8 million on a $16 million budget, as cited by Box Office Mojo.

The movie’s popularity was so massive that it spawned a wide range of merchandise, from action figures and video games to comic books and even an unaired TV pilot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In celebration of the film’s 30th anniversary, producer Robert Tapert told THR that Darkman was a “labor of love for Sam Raimi.”

“He tried very hard to make a movie about [pulp novel and radio character] The Shadow, but that proved impossible because at that time, it was going to be made by Bob Zemeckis,” Tapert shared, adding that the director created the character as a blend of influences instead of a comic book adaptation. “So Sam said, ‘I am going to create my own superhero and take aspects of other superheroes and incorporate them into the character of Darkman.’”

As for Neeson, he revealed that the script appealed to the “little boy” in him while also giving him a major starring role that he found exciting as an actor.
