One reviewer said it “looks more expensive than what I paid,” adding, “It's really gorgeous.” Another called it “very comfy,” while a third shopper said it’s “good for small spaces,” which makes it especially perfect for a porch, patio, or an indoor nook.

1973 Rock Classic, Originally Written After Band Breakup, Became a No. 1 Hit

Fri, 05/15/2026 - 5:29pm

Fifty-three years ago, legendary rocker and former Beatles member George Harrison topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart with his song "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)."

Released on May 7, 1973, as the lead single from his fourth studio album, Living in the MaterialWorld, "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)" was a massive success. Upon its release, the track climbed up the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at No. 1 on June 30 where it famously knocked Paul McCartney and Wings' song "My Love" to the No. 2 spot.

The historic crossover marked Harrison's second solo single to top the charts after "My Sweet Lord" and represents the only time two former Beatles members have held the top two positions simultaneously. His album Living in the MaterialWorld was his second major solo project after the breakup of the Beatles in 1970, following All Things Must Pass. The record was a massive commercial success, topping the Billboard 200 and reaching the No. 2 spot on the UK Official Albums Chart, further solidifying his lasting relevance outside the band.

Produced by Harrison himself and released through the Apple Records label, "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)" is recognizable for its gentle rhythm and signature slide-guitar instrumentation. Similar to his previous No. 1 hit, "My Sweet Lord," the song blends gospel-style backing vocals with folk elements to create an intimate atmosphere that aligns perfectly with the track's themes.

Written by Harrison, the track explores the feeling of searching for divine intervention. The song acts as a prayer for guidance when attempting to find inner peace. Harrison draws directly from his personal experience with Eastern philosophy and his desire for a spiritual connection with a higher power.

Even though the song was released over five decades ago, it still resonates with new audiences. In the streaming era, "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)" has proven its endurance, totaling over 100 million streams on Spotify alone. This lasting relevance has cemented its legacy as one of the greatest solo works from the ex-Beatles catalog.

1970 Folk Rock Classic, Misinterpreted as an Anti-War Anthem, Ranked Among the ‘Greatest Songs of All Time’

Fri, 05/15/2026 - 5:21pm

The '70s were full of hit rock tracks where the lyrics were often misinterpreted or believed to be about a greater subject matter than what they really were. John Fogerty wrote a popular track at the start of 1970 that was sung by Creedence Clearwater Revival, which became a folk rock staple for years to come.

Rolling Stone ranked "Who'll Stop the Rain" on their list of the Greatest Songs of All Time, and it has been a favorite among fans since its initial release. The track almost topped the charts, landing at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 list and would later become certified Platinum. Written by Fogerty, the song has often had a fable story attached, with many believing its lyrics are a thinly-veiled protest song about the Vietnam War.

The band had previously released "Fortune Son" in 1969, which was anti-class and anti-war. That same year, multiple artists likeJohnny Cash and Edwin Starr also released protest songs. Fogerty once explained that he was talking about Washington, but would later reveal the song's main lyrics were about Woodstock.

"Who'll Stop the Rain" has a verse talking about a group of people huddling together in the rain among a large crowd. Many believed the track was sung at the rain-soaked musical festival in 1969, with Fogerty later clearing up at a concert in 2007 the truth behind the track.

"Well, this next song has a bit of a fable surrounding it. A lot of folks seem to think I sang this song at Woodstock way back then. No. I was at Woodstock 1969. I think. It was a nice event. I’m a California kid. I went up there and saw a whole bunch of really nice young people. Hairy. Colourful. It started to rain, and got really muddy, and then half a million people took their clothes off!” Fogerty recalled, according to Far Out magazine. “Boomer generation making its presence known, I guess. Anyway, then I went home and wrote this song.”

'Who'll Stop the Rain' became the title of a thriller film

Years after Creedence Clearwater Revival released the track, it would be the focal point of a 1978 neo-noir thriller crime drama film. Who'll Stop the Rain was directed by Karel Reisz and starred Nick Nolte, based on a Robert Stone novel titled Dog Soldiers. Nolte played the role of a Vietnam War veteran enticed to smuggle drugs to the U.S.

The film was originally meant to be titled Dog Soldiers after the original novel it's based on. When the producer got licensing rights to use the Creedence Clearwater Revival track, they decided to change the title of the film to the song. The track has since appeared in various films and has also been covered by other artists like Rudy Rotta, Rod Stewart, Rise Against, Courtney Jaye, The Ventures, The Stonemans, and Vince Neil. Bruce Springsteen has also covered the track for live performances.

'Love Is Blind': Chelsea and Kwame's Marriage 'Is Coming to an End'

Fri, 05/15/2026 - 5:18pm

Season 4 of Love Is Blind showed singles falling in love in pods. The Seattle season aired in 2023 and ended with three married couples. Sadly, one of them announced they had called it quits before their fourth anniversary.

Chelsea and Kwame of 'Love Is Blind' Grew in Different Directions View this post on Instagram

Chelsea Griffin and Kwame Appiah made a joint Instagram post with three slides on May 15. The first was a black-and-white picture of the former couple cuddling. The second was Chelsea's written statement in white letters on a black background.

"Last week would have marked our fourth wedding anniversary," it started. "Out of respect for the life we shared, I wanted to address this moment directly with the community that has supported us over the years."

"It's heartbreaking to share that our marriage is coming to an end," the post continued. "This is not the outcome I hoped for, and I entered this relationship with deep love, commitment, and the intention of building a lasting life together."

She explained that they grew in different directions, and love alone couldn't make the union work. The slide ended with her thanking people for their kindness and support.

The third slide was Kwame's similar-looking text statement. "This isn't something either of us ever imagine, and it's been one of the hardest decisions to make," read part of the slide. "As difficult as it's been to arrive here, I believe it's in our best interest considering, amongst many other things, that our ultimate life goals don't feel aligned," it later read.

The former couple talked a lot about where they'd rather live and when they wanted kids on the Netflix show. Chelsea later joined the Love Is Blind casting team in 2023.

Starbucks to Cut 300 Jobs— Here's How to Handle a Layoff According to a Pro

Fri, 05/15/2026 - 5:16pm

Starbucks is the latest company to hit employees with layoffs in a year that’s been fraught with job loss. Being furloughed can be extremely stressful, but there are steps you can take to minimize the pain while finding new employment.

The Great Job Loss

Starbucks is only the latest company to furlough employees and lay off 300 corporate positions, reports CNBC. Disney made headlines in April for nixing 1,000 people across all platforms, including at Marvel, where nearly all of its award-winning visual development team was let go.

Amazon recently confirmed plans to eliminate 16,000 corporate jobs this year, one of the largest layoff plans in an economy with so much job loss. Many of these companies are planning to replace employees with AI to increase their profits, even though research shows that empowering employees to use the tech rather than replace them actually increases profits.

Information You Need Before You Leave

If you’re one of the thousands of people who have found themselves getting the pink slip this year,  Colleen McCreary, the Chief People Officer at Credit Karma, once gave Parade some solid tips on navigating the immediate moments after job loss.

In general, she recommended former employees:

  • Clarify the terms with your employer, including your final day of work, payment terms, separation pay, and more
  • Gather benefit information including insurance, stock options, 401(k), and any company owned property
  • Find out if you can work during your furlough
  • Go over any noncompete agreements
  • Ask for access to any necessary tax documents

Making sure you have all the information you need to successfully separate from the company means you won’t have to scramble to get it later.

What To Do If You're Laid Off

Once you have all the information on your layoff, McCreary says there are immediate steps you should take to set yourself up for success in your furlough or job hunt.

  • Immediately file for unemployment, as it can take weeks for the first check to arrive
  • Update your resume with current metrics and accomplishments
  • Contact friends or former coworkers for recommendations and any job opportunities
  • Post your resume to every employment site, including LinkedIn, Indeed, Monster, and more
  • Reassess your finances and cancel any drains on your bank account that are no longer useful
  • Create a schedule for yourself to job hunt so you don’t feel burned out from the experience
  • Take a free online certification to gather new skills

Take a Breath Before Diving into Job Hunting

Losing your job can feel like a massive blow, but you can weather this storm. Give yourself some time to take a breath and reassess your situation. Don’t be afraid to take freelance or part-time jobs while you’re hunting. You can often supplement your unemployment benefits with part-time income without giving them up entirely.

“There are definitely still full-time jobs available," she tells Parade. "I think it really depends on geography. While many companies are struggling, depending on their industry right now, there are other companies that are thriving, such as food delivery companies and all the operations that have to do with that. There are a number of technology companies that support remote workers. You also have companies that are in the virtual relaxation and mindfulness space, as well as online entertainment. All of those kinds of things have taken off and are doing quite well.”

Being unemployed in a downturned economy is stressful, but staying open to change could potentially lead you on an amazing new path.

What Celebrities Are on the Spencer Pratt for Mayor of Los Angeles Bandwagon?

Fri, 05/15/2026 - 4:42pm

The Hills alum Spencer Pratt’s mayoral bid is heating up, and it looks like the former reality TV star has some pretty famous backers. From Grammy Award-winning producer David Foster to former castmate Kristin Cavallari, plenty of celebs have jumped on the Pratt bandwagon. And while not every star standing behind the would-be mayor of L.A. has contributed financially, the rich and powerful are showering the candidate with praise.

Famous Reality TV Stars Who Have Picked Pratt As Their Favorite Candidate

Former Laguna Beach and The Hills star Kristin Cavallari has a long history with Pratt. The entrepreneur and podcaster actually introduced Pratt to his wife, Heidi Montag, back in the day. On her self-titled podcast, Let’s Be Honest with Kristin Cavalarri, the reality queen revealed that she gets a lot of questions about Pratt.

Cavalarri shares a fan’s query about the mayoral hopeful’s character, and in response, she piles on the praise: “I will forever love Spencer. I just will. I feel like I’ve always really understood him. I get him, and I, of course, love Heidi, too. I think Spencer running for mayor is genius because I think everyone in politics, I don’t care what side you’re on, everyone is corrupt. To get to that level, you have to play their game. It’s all an agenda. And I think their goal is to keep all of us divided. They want us fighting. And that’s why I don’t buy into any of it.”

Cavallari continued, “Don’t put me on a side. But that’s why I love Spencer running for mayor. Because he is a real person who is going to call out the corruption…He is fired up because he lost his house, and he obviously has seen all the corruption in L.A.”  She went on to add, “I love, I love that he is doing this. And most people in California that you talk to actually love it, too.”

Other reality stars who have reportedly either donated money or their voice (for Pratt) include Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles’Tracy Tutor, former The Hills star Audrina Patridge, Real Housewives of Miami’sJoanna Krupa, friend and The Hills co-star Brody Jenner, and Paris Hilton.

Other Celebs Who Are Here for Pratt

Actor James Woods publicly supported Pratt with a post on X, writing, “He can absolutely win this thing.” Women of Wrestling (WOW) co-owner and L.A. Lakers executive Jeanie Buss reportedly made a sizable donation to Spencer’s campaign. And then there’s David Foster and his wife, performer Katherine McPhee Foster. According to a Vanity Fairarticle, the pair recently hosted a fundraiser for the candidate, during which McPhee sang a Spencer Pratt-ified version of Tina Turner’s iconic “Simply the Best.”

While Pratt is gaining momentum and certainly notoriety, he still has a while to go if he wants to beat incumbent Mayor Karen Bass. But the Los Angeles mayoral primary is on June 2, making it anyone’s race.

Best-Selling Novel Ranked Among Goodreads Favorite Historical Fiction Still Captivates Readers

Fri, 05/15/2026 - 4:37pm

Nearly eight years after its release, "Where the Crawdads Sing" remains one of the most beloved and widely discussed novels of the modern book club era.

Delia Owens’ bestselling 2018 novel was ranked among Goodreads users’ favorite historical fiction books, finishing No. 5 that year in the site’s Readers Choice category behind books by Kristin Hannah, Heather Morris, Chloe Benjamin and Kate Morton. The recognition further cemented the novel’s reputation as one of the defining literary phenomena of the last decade.

Part coming-of-age story, part murder mystery and part Southern Gothic drama, "Where the Crawdads Sing" follows Kya Clark, a young girl abandoned by her family who grows up isolated in the marshes of coastal North Carolina. As Kya learns to survive alone in the wilderness, she becomes entangled in a murder investigation that shakes the nearby town of Barkley Cove.

The novel quickly became a massive word-of-mouth success after its release and exploded in popularity following its selection for Reese Witherspoon’s book club in 2018. By 2023, the book had sold more than 18 million copies worldwide and spent well over 100 weeks on The New York Times bestseller list. It was later adapted into a successful 2022 film produced by Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine and starring Daisy Edgar-Jones.

Much of the book’s enduring popularity has been fueled by passionate reader reactions online, particularly on Goodreads, where fans frequently praise the novel’s emotional storytelling and vivid natural imagery.

One Goodreads reviewer called the novel “a gentle yet symbolic depiction of the valiant survival of Kya Clark” and praised Owens’ “beautiful” prose and “lyrical rhythm.”

Another reader with more than 165,000 followers described the novel as “absolutely stunning,” writing that the marsh setting and Kya’s story made the book impossible to put down.

A third popular reviewer admitted being skeptical of the novel’s enormous hype at first, but ultimately concluded that the book “exceeded my already high expectations” thanks to its “lush atmosphere and depth of emotion.”

Owens brought a unique background to the novel. Before becoming a bestselling fiction author, she spent decades working as a zoologist and conservationist, studying wildlife in Africa and later publishing nonfiction books about her experiences. Her scientific background heavily influenced "Where the Crawdads Sing," particularly its detailed depictions of marsh ecosystems and animal behavior.

Critics and scholars have also pointed to the novel’s blend of Southern Gothic storytelling, romance, survival drama and ecological themes as part of the reason it connected with such a broad audience.

Even years after its release, "Where the Crawdads Sing" continues to attract new audiences through social media, book clubs and streaming audiences discovering the film adaptation for the first time.

Its ranking among Goodreads’ favorite historical fiction books shows the novel has become far more than a temporary bestseller. For many readers, it remains one of the defining emotional reading experiences of the modern era.

Scientists Are Working On a New Pill That Could Help Your Dog Live Longer

Fri, 05/15/2026 - 4:29pm

If you've ever wished your fur babies could live longer, you may not have to wait too much longer for that dream to come true. A San Francisco biotech company called Loyal is developing what could become the first medication designed specifically to extend a dog's lifespan—and the FDA is taking it seriously. The drug, called LOY-002, has already cleared two of the three major hurdles required for approval, putting it on track for a potential market launch before the end of 2026.

This isn't about treating a specific disease like cancer or heart problems. Instead, the pill targets the biological processes of aging, aiming to slow the rate at which a dog's body deteriorates over time. For anyone who's watched a beloved pet go from playful to sedentary in what feels like overnight, the possibility of extending those good years changes everything.

Related: 4 Zodiac Signs That Make the Best Pet Parents

How the Drug Works

LOY-002 is a daily prescription pill designed for dogs aged 10 and older weighing at least 14 pounds. It works by targeting the hormone insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1). While this hormone helps puppies grow, higher levels in older dogs are linked to faster cellular aging—especially in larger breeds, which naturally have shorter lifespans than small dogs.

By reducing IGF-1 activity, the pill aims to make aging dogs' bodies behave more like those of naturally long-lived, smaller breeds. Think of it as hitting the brakes on the aging process itself rather than treating individual conditions that show up along the way.

According to Celine Halioua, the company's founder and CEO, "Since founding Loyal six years ago, my goal has always been to get the first drug FDA approved for lifespan extension. This safety acceptance brings us very close to achieving that vision." The regulatory acceptance signals that the FDA believes the drug is likely to be both safe and effective for its intended purpose.

What This Means for Your Dog

The clinical trials have involved over 1,300 dogs across 70 veterinary clinics nationwide in what's being called the largest veterinary study of its kind. So far, the results have shown no significant adverse effects, even at doses much higher than those prescribed.

Early research suggests the pill could add roughly a year to a dog's life, which may not sound like much, but it's designed to extend healthspan—the number of years a dog stays active, mobile, and free from age-related illness, which, senior pet owners should know, is huge.

The drug is intended for dogs 10 and older, so it's specifically targeting elderly pets. But the implications extend beyond just older animals. If approved, LOY-002 would represent a fundamental shift in how veterinarians think about aging—moving from treating diseases after they appear to preventing them in the first place.

It's not here yet, and approval isn't guaranteed. But for dog owners watching their aging companions slow down, the possibility of a pill that could give them more years together is definitely worth considering.

1978 Rock Hit Became a Career-Defining Classic, Despite Never Reaching No. 1

Fri, 05/15/2026 - 4:24pm

In 1978, a song about a little-known pub band quietly transformed Dire Straits into international stars.

"Sultans of Swing" became the band's breakthrough hit and eventually one of the defining rock songs of its era even though it never reached No. 1 on the charts.

Written by frontman Mark Knopfler, the song was inspired by a real experience. Knopfler reportedly wandered into a nearly empty London pub and watched an unassuming jazz band perform.

"It was a little deserted pub in Deptford where we were all living at the time - the pub was semi-deserted and the band were down at heel and it was just playing these Dixie standards of Louis Armstrong things, the way they always do," Knopfler said in a 2004 interview.

Despite the tiny crowd and modest setting, the musicians proudly introduced themselves as "The Sultans of Swing," a moment Knopfler found both amusing and oddly touching. "There was something really funny about it to me because Sultans, they absolutely weren't," he added. "You know they were rather tired little blokes in pullovers."

That observation became the foundation for a song celebrating musicians who continue playing simply because they love music, not because of fame or commercial success.

Built around Knopfler's instantly recognizable fingerpicked guitar style, "Sultans of Swing" stood out from many late-1970s rock songs. Its clean, fluid guitar tone and storytelling lyrics felt refreshingly understated during an era increasingly dominated by punk and arena rock excess.

"One day [Knopfler] said to me: 'Remember that song I was fiddling about with the other day? I've completely redone the chord structure," recalled bassist John Illsley in a 2025 interview. "He played it, and it sounded pretty good. The whole thing is incredibly simple, it’s the playing that makes it intriguing. It’s that rolling rhythm on the guitar and a very simple bass and drums approach. Then, of course, it’s a story. And let’s face it, all good songs have a story.”

The song slowly gained momentum after a demo recording began receiving radio attention in the United Kingdom. Once released commercially, it became a major international hit and introduced listeners to Dire Straits' sophisticated blend of rock, blues and roots influences.

Although it stopped short of reaching No. 1, the song became far more important than a chart statistic. Over time, it evolved into Dire Straits' signature track and one of the most respected guitar-driven songs in classic rock history.

Its success also launched the band into a hugely successful career that would later include albums like Brothers in Arms and hits such as "Money for Nothing."

More than four decades later, "Sultans of Swing" remains a staple of classic rock radio and a favorite among guitar fans for Knopfler's intricate playing and conversational songwriting style.

The song's lasting legacy proves that sometimes a career-defining classic doesn't need to hit No. 1 to become timeless.

Fri, 05/15/2026 - 4:14pm

We love happy accidents. Especially when they star Glen Vincent, his Blue Caps, and the legendary Jayne Mansfield.

Originally intended to be a satirical comment on the rock-and-roll trend of the 1950s, The Girl Can’t Help It ended up becoming one of the most important documents of music history. An enduring musical comedy, the film was later named the greatest rock movie of 1956 by Ultimate Classic Rock

“Jayne Mansfield became a national sex symbol after her first starring role in 1956's The Girl Can't Help It. But the comedy is less remembered for its plot … than for its soundtrack,” the outlet writes.

https://www.instagram.com/tv/CdBq7vrl3zK/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Following the story of a mobster who pays a washed-up press agent to turn his yowza girlfriend, played by Mansfield, into a singing superstar, the film has a supporting cast that should make every early classic rock fan swoon. From Fats Domino, Gene VincentandHis Blue Caps, and Eddie Cochran, to ThePlatters, Little Richard, and The Chuckles, seemingly every worthy act was given a ray of spotlight in the film. And they all shine.

Featuring high-fidelity color performances, the film directed by Frank Tashlin provides some of the best-preserved footage of early rock and R&B ever and is regarded as one of cinema's most important early rock 'n' roll celebrations. Adapted from Garson Kanin's 1955 short story Do Re Mi, the film was a massive commercial hit, grossing more than $6 million at the time.

The Girl Can't Help It was accidentally so good that even the greatest rock band of all time was inspired by it. According to Collider, John Lennon saw the film and was moved to follow his dream of starting a band. So, he formed The Quarrymen, recruited Paul McCartney, and The Beatles were born. The outlet even goes so far as to say Beatlemania might not exist without this movie. The girl -- and the film -- simply can't help but be legendary.

1970 Soft Rock Classic That Never Hit No. 1, Was Climbing the Charts 55 Years Later

Fri, 05/15/2026 - 4:07pm

Though this heartbreak anthem was released over 55 years ago, young people on TikTok have revived it over the past few years.

"Wild World" was written and sung by English singer-songwriter Cat Stevens for his fourth studio album, Tea for the Tillerman, in 1970. It was first released as a single in September of that year and saw significant commercial success. It garnered attention for its lyrics and themes on love and heartbreak, and has been covered numerous times since its release.

"Wild World" did end up on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 11 in 1971. Despite its success and impact on listeners years later, it never reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 or any major chart.

Yusuf Islam, formerly know as Cat Stevens, performs on the Great Oak Stage during BST Hyde Park at Hyde Park on July 11, 2025 in London, England.

Gus Stewart/Redferns

What is 'Wild World' by Cat Stevens about?

Stevens was in a relationship with actress Patti D'Arbanville for two years, and many suspected the song to be about her. But the 77-year-old musician denied this claim back in 2009, when he was a guest on The Chris Isaak Hour. He explained that the song was his own reflection on returning to music after a near-death experience due to complications with tuberculosis.

"I was trying to relate to my life. I was at the point where it was beginning to happen and I was myself going into the world. I'd done my career before, and I was sort of warning myself to be careful this time around, because it was happening," he said. "It was not me writing about somebody specific, although other people may have informed the song, but it was more about me. It's talking about losing touch with home and reality."

But 10 years later, he finally admitted that it was about D'Arbanville. The former couple broke up because their careers seemed to be pulling them into "two different worlds," as the "Morning Has Broken" singer told Billboard. D'Arbanville was pursuing a career as a model, while Stevens was a singer.

"[Patti and I] had some great times together, but I started recording and she was doing her modeling and it just became like two different worlds," Stevens revealed in 2019. "Because I’d had such an experience of almost falling off the planet, I knew there were a lot of dangers out there, so it was kind of me talking to myself about the second career I was about to embark on and also talking to her about her career. We’d basically split at that point, and that was the ode to our parting."

Born Steven Demetre Georgiou, he released his debut album in 1967 titled Matthew and Son when he was just a teenager. His very first album reached high numbers on various charts in the United Kingdom, as well as Tea for the Tillerman and Teaser and the Firecat, which were both certified triple platinum in the United States. In 1977, Stevens converted to Islam and adopted the name Yusuf Islam the following year. Currently, his stagename is Yusuf / Cat Stevens.

Under his various names, Stevens has released 25 albums, with his most recent being King of a Land in 2023. He also penned four books, and his memoir, Cat on the Road to Findout, was published by Genesis Publications in October 2025.

The resurgence and impact of 'Wild World'

"Wild World" had a small revival in 2020 during the album's 50th anniversary. To celebrate, Stevens released a reimagining and remastered edition of Tea for the Tillerman, which also includes a "Wild World" and a duet with his younger self on "Father and Son."

Since then, "Wild World" experienced a significant resurgence on TikTok and became a viral anthem for Gen Z, especially in 2025. The 1970 folk-rock classic is usually the background song for trending emotional, nostalgic and acoustic cover content. The resurange can be credited partly to a popular live performance by Stevens at the 2025 Glastonbury Festival last summer.

Multiple artists have also recorded their own renditions of "Wild World," including Jimmy Cliff, SNFU, Jonathan King, Maxi Priest, Garth Brooks, Bastille, Holly Humberstone and more.

"It’s truly incredible hearing the entire audience sing back Cat Stevens’ lyrics a full 53 years after they were first written!" a fan shared on Facebook last month, referring to two performances of "Wild World" at the 2023 and 2025 Glastonbury festivals. The song has over 879 million streams on Spotify.

Currently, Stevens is actively touring and promoting his memoir, Cat on the Road to Findout, and posting travel photos frequently on his Instagram account.

"Wild World" and the rest of his discography are available on all major streaming platforms.

1979 Hit Film Was Just Ranked the 'Most Intense Sci-Fi Movie Ever Made'

Fri, 05/15/2026 - 3:56pm

While the science fiction genre does have a few quiet, contemplative films, some of the most memorable sci-fimovies have plenty of action scenes and stress-inducing moments. The publication Collider showcased some of the most heart-pounding films from the genre by ranking "the 10 most intense sci-fi movies ever made."

The list, published on May 13, spotlighted beloved sci-fi movies like Ex Machina from 2014, 1982's The Thing, 2018's A Quiet Place, and Invasion of the Body Snatchers from 1978. Collider named Ridley Scott's classic Alien (1979), starringSigourney Weaver as Lt. Ellen Ripley, as the "most intense" science fiction film of all time.

According to the publication, the film deserves the title because it's upsetting and exhilarating to watch as the USCSS Nostromo crew gets picked off one by one.

Sigourney Weaver Shared Insight Into Filming 'Alien' in 1979

Weaver discussed making Alien in a 1979 interview, shortly after the film's premiere. According to Weaver, it was difficult to convey Riley's emotions and connection to her crewmates in an action-centered movie.

"It's a very technical film, and the relationships are not the focus of the movie. The relationships have to be understood, and they have to be played, but through the action of the film. That was very challenging," said the actress in the 1979 interview.

In addition, Weaver, who has reprised Ripley in three Alien sequels, said that she was genuinely frightened while on set. She explained that the Xenomorphs looked convincingly real because "the special effects were so good."

"You never saw that it was actually made of sticks and stones or something. Everything really worked and was convincing, so that helped the actors tremendously in keeping that illusion of being terrified," said Weaver, now 76.

Weaver also shared that she wouldn't have had the same take-charge attitude as her on-screen counterpart if she were faced with Xenomorphs.

"My reaction in the same situation would probably be to make terrible jokes a lot. You know, I don't think I would come through in the same way that Ripley does. I would probably wise off a lot," said the Avatarstar.

Foreclosures Are Spiking in the Most Popular Retirement States

Fri, 05/15/2026 - 3:39pm

It is a brutal time for Americans in this current economy. In addition to rising costs, the housing market has been all over the place. And for retirees, that can be particularly scary. Right now, foreclosures in the U.S. are up 18% from this time last year, with a 42% increase in completed foreclosures, according to Realtor.com. These three states, which are favored by retirees, are at the top of the list.

Delaware

Delaware’s foreclosure stats are complicated, with 1 in every 1,739 homes foreclosed. The state has fewer housing units, so it doesn’t take much to push the foreclosure rate into more alarming numbers than in larger states.

Still, Delaware recently performed its first comprehensive property tax reassessment in 40 years. Many homeowners saw their property taxes spike, making their homes unaffordable. The foreclosures began rolling in. Cost of living, HOA fees, and higher housing costs have also contributed to the state's crisis.

South Carolina

Not far behind Delaware is South Carolina, a state that’s seen the fastest population growth in the country. With 1 in every 1,745 homes foreclosed, the rapid growth is also contributing to the high foreclosure rate.

Migration to the state caused inflated home prices, often outpacing local wages. Buyers who purchased at the apex of the boom were saddled with disproportionately high mortgages. With the economy as bad as it is now, homeowners aren’t able to refinance or sell high enough to recoup their losses.

Florida

With 1 in every 2,092 homes in foreclosure, Florida ranks third on the list (though some data suggests it may be first). Owners get hit with a triple whammy; home prices are astronomical, property taxes recently shot up, and homeowners pay the highest rates in the country

Because of the disproportionate number of condos in the state, homeowners have mortgages, insurance, and HOA fees, all of which increase every year. With inflation growing faster than wages, it’s no wonder that these compounding fees are pushing owners out.

Runners Up

Rounding out the top five states are Indiana (1 in every 2,129) and Illinois (1 in every 2,262). The COVID-19 migration of workers from expensive cities to more rural areas artificially boosted home prices across the country. Now, these areas are seeing higher foreclosure rates because wages haven’t kept pace.

If moving in your retirement is part of your plan, it’s important to first understand your finances and what you can afford. Homes that have been on the market longer or are being sold by the bank could be a great way to snag a great space for a great price, but other factors like home insurance and property tax increases are worth noting before signing on the dotted line.

'Heated Rivalry' Star Hudson Williams’ New Photoshoot Is Getting Plenty of Attention: 'What a Good Day to Have Eyes'

Fri, 05/15/2026 - 3:26pm

Heated Rivalry’s Hudson Williams is decked out in BVLGARI jewelry in his latest photoshoot, and the pictures have the internet in a chokehold.

“#GoldandSteel is engineered excellence,” Williams captioned the photos on Instagram. “Superb @bvlgari. Absolutely superb . #BvlgariPartner”

Fans flocked to the comment section, saying that the actor looked “so hot.”

“My friends sent this post and I ALMOST WRECKED MY DAMN CAR,” one fan joked.

“Stop flirting with me man,” another said.

“What a good day to have eyes,” one user commented.

Even Williams' co-star, Robbie Graham-Kuntz, who plays Kip in Heated Rivalry, commented, "Whatever you say king."

Williams announced his partnership with BVLGARI in March, wearing jewelry from the brand and an all-black Balenciaga tuxedo to the 98th Academy Awards. During an episode of the Shut Up Evan podcast, Williams opened up to Evan Ross Katz about his fashion inspiration.

“A lot of my fashion role models are women,” Williams said, according to Town and Country. “What they wear, their aura around them—Rihanna, Marilyn Monroe—there’s a sensuality to how they dress, and their clothes complement that. Then I also like people who can be braggadocious and slightly loud; like ASAP [Rocky] is always a touchstone, always someone we talk about when we make a Pinterest board.”

Williams also mentioned that he appreciates the style of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Princess Diana. He also noted that he thinks Ryan Gosling is “a good touchstone for a classic suit,” and Tom Ford is a fashion role model.

“I just love him,” Williams said about Ford. “He’s a good director, a beautiful speaker. He looks cool, I love hearing him talk.”

Ahead of reprising his role as Shane Hollander in season two of Heated Rivalry, Williams has been spotted filming Apparatus with Dylan O’Brien. According to Deadline, the comedic thriller follows a struggling rideshare driver (played by Williams) who falls under the influence of an entrepreneur (played by O’Brien). A release date has yet to be announced, but the film is currently in production.

Samantha shares that she is nervous, but Kat tries to put her at ease, sharing, “Oh, we've all been there. Excited, nervous, afraid you're gonna throw up. It's the cotillion trifecta.”

Chelsea then shared, “Just remember, you own the room. It doesn't own you.”

Jessica thanks Nicole for allowing her to get ready with the family, to which Nicole says, “You are more than welcome. We, Dupree, believe that getting ready is half the fun.”

Everyone Is Ready for the ‘Miles High Club’ TV Series, but T.L. Swan Takes Us Back to the Start (Exclusive)

Fri, 05/15/2026 - 3:14pm

When it comes to romance, there is one book series currently on the top of everyone’s lips. It’s the Miles High Club by T.L. Swan, which is being adapted into a TV series thanks to Amazon MGM Studios. However, she’s not only the master of that book series. She’s become the master of the genre.

Since 2014, Swan has captured our hearts with her steamy scenes. It started with Stanton Adore, and she’s just recently published the first in a new series of novels, The Heart We Kept. However, in an exclusive interview with Parade, Swan explains how it all started and why. It turns out that the pressure was on!

For those who haven’t read Swan’s own story before, you may not be aware that it was all thanks to a 30-day free trial of MS Word. Swan was candid as she shared, “The business my husband and I had bought was failing, and what had started as a dream had become a nightmare.”

While down on her luck, she decided to turn to self-help books, and one of them was The Secret. That’s the one that helped change her “brain chemistry,” as she explained it, and within two weeks, it was like fate was speaking to her.

“While cleaning out my garage, I found a box of old diaries with all the stories I had written when young,” she shared with us, “I took it as a sign.”

Courtesy of T.L. Swan

However, with the failing business, she couldn’t buy the full subscription to MS Word, so she opted for the 30-day free trial, and it certainly gave her the push she needed, as she went on to share, “When I started that free trial, I knew I only had 30 days to get my first book written. I wrote every night once my family was asleep.”

Writing wasn’t just a hope of making money from a passion. It also became her escape and happiness during a darker time. Sure, there were times when she felt a little disheartened, especially during the days of slower sales for Stanton Adore, and she had to take a break from writing after breaking her back, but she explained, “My addiction to the thrill of writing had been well and truly ignited, so I kept going.”

It was worth pushing through some of the harder moments because there was a loyal fan base out there. Dr. Stanton, her fifth book, “skyrocketed to number 1 on the American Amazon chart,” and that’s when Swan knew that “my readers, like me, were reading romance as an escape from daily life.”

With the success of her first five self-published books, Amazon’s publishing arm, Montlake, then got in touch to become her publisher. Of course, she thought it was a joke from her husband at first, as this had never been done before. “They had never signed an Australian author before.”

And while that step was amazing, the romantic in her still wanted more. She yearned for the opportunity to see her books on the shelves, and that’s what happened when Arndell got in touch intending to publish The Miles High series in U.S. bookstores.

Courtesy of Keeperton

“Having every book in that series hit the USA Today bestseller lists was honestly a dream come true,” she gushed, “And having the publishing team at Arndell (an imprint of Keeperton) behind me with their never-ending support, help and guidance every step of the way has been surreal.”

Speaking of the Miles High Club, it’s the first series of her collection to land a TV series deal, and it’s taken time to get there, “But it has absolutely been worth the wait!” Swan made clear.

“I’m so thrilled that it’s coming to TV, and I can’t thank my readers enough for their support,” Swan wanted to make sure that fans know that she wouldn’t be where she is without them.

Don’t worry if you’re thinking that the show will transform the books in a way that doesn’t make sense. Swan confirmed, “I am an Executive Producer on the show, so yes, I’ll be involved!” There are always elements that need changing for the sake of TV production, but the story itself doesn’t need to shift in any way.

Keeperton | Arndell Books

It’s not just the new TV show fans are excited about. There’s also the new steamy romance novel, The Heart You Kept, which is the first in the Kings of the Riviera series.

It’s “set against the glamorous backdrop of the French Riviera — the casinos, the champagne, the old money, and luxury — it’s a forbidden love story that’s decadent, immersive and scorching hot.”

Readers have met the billionaire casino owner, Edward Prescott, before from the Mr. series, but this story delves into a lot more.

“When reading, I love escapism, I want to be transported to a different, fun, and exotic dimension where I can let my imagination run wild,” Swan discussed the inspiration for the latest of her steamy stories, “The thought of living in the French Riviera and meeting the love of my life, who also just happens to be an enigmatic, witty, and insanely hot billionaire definitely inspires me.”

We can certainly see why! The Heart You Kept is available now with a beautiful deluxe cover with red and black sprayed edges that will immediately have you falling in love!

Why Princess Diana Refused to Appear on the Cover of John F. Kennedy Jr.’s Magazine

Fri, 05/15/2026 - 3:02pm

John F. Kennedy Jr.was determined to make a name for himself, and that led to the creation of his political/pop culture magazine called George. Looking for high-profile celebrities that fit the brand, JFK. Jr. asked Princess Diana to grace the cover, but she refused.

In an excerpt of Caroline Hallemann's The Kennedys and theWindsors: The Story of Two Dynasties, One Born, One Made, posted by Vanity Fair, it details why Princess Diana turned down the offer. JFK Jr. was looking for someone who melded their celebrity status with their political life perfectly, and none was more perfect than Princess Diana at the time.

"Lady Di, at that moment, was a perfect example of that because she was a symbol of the intersection of those things. She was a celebrity, a royal who had a defined role, but she also had a personal and political mission. She had ideas about how she wanted to help the world. She had her own feelings about her service, at least that’s the perspective that I got from her,” said artist Sasha Chermayeff, a close friend of Kennedy.

Princess Diana and JFK Jr. were seen as parallels of each other with a "quiet aura" and complicated legacies. According to the book, JFK Jr. penned a letter to her asking for a meeting, with Princess Diana having been "keen on the idea."

The two met while Princess Diana was in New York in December 1995 at the Carlyle Hotel. While JFK Jr. was enamored by her and pitched his cover idea, the conversation was reportedly over before it started. Princess Diana decided to turn down the opportunity, feeling like the magazine needed to be more successful before she could be the face of it.

“Well, you know, this is all very nice, John. Thank you. But I hope you’ll forgive me if I don’t take up the opportunity this time, but would love to maybe for your fiftieth or your hundredth issue or something,” she said.

Related: 1966 Rock Classic, Banned by Radio Stations, Helped Define a Generation of Music

JFK Jr. quickly realized her decision was final and moved on to another topic of discussion. The book alleges that Princess Diana took the meeting because she wanted to learn more about his upbrining, in the hopes of raising her two sons the same way Jackie Kennedy did.

In the end, Princess Diana also gave him a note saying she would grace the cover in the future. For the first issue of George, model Cindy Crawford appeared on the cover in a midriff‑baring George Washington–meets–pinup girl ensemble.
