Days of Our Lives is bringing the Vitali family back to the forefront as Heated Rivalry star Franco Lo Presti joins the Peacock streaming soap opera as Dante Vitali, and Salem will never be the same.

TV Insider’s Stephanie Sloane interviewed Lo Presti about joining the daytime drama, where he opened up about his personal connection to the series and how Heated Rivalry surpassed all expectations.

Viewers first heard about Dante Vitali last year when Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) returned to the soap opera for the series 60th anniversary in November, where she revealed that she is engaged to Dante Vitali, an extended member of the Vitali mob family.

During the conversation with TV Insider, Lo Presti revealed a bit about his character’s backstory. “He was born and grew up in Italy and educated at this pretty top-tier English boarding school,” he explained.

Lo Presti explained that Dante is trying to distance himself from the family name by building his own “dynasty” in finance. “There’s definitely an old-school quality to him,” he shared. “He’s super passionate, he’s sincere and incredibly generous, but he’s also someone that you probably shouldn’t underestimate.”

Lo Presti explained that for Dante, Loyalty means a “lot” to him, and something he values a lot.

The actor shared he was excited for the audience to watch him come to Salem and “slowly peel back those layers and discover what’s really driving him.”

Lo Presti will make his debut beginning on Monday, September 14, and is expected to air for a “limited” run.

It is currently unknown whether Lo Presti will get to share scenes with his on-screen fiancé,  Sami, as Sweeney is not on the series. The soap did, however, recently tease Sweeney’s return, along with other members of the Brady family, for the summer of 2027. Will Lo Presti join her then? Fans will have to stay tuned to find out.

Lo Presti can also be seen in Season 1 of the hit series Heated Rivalry and is rumored to appear in the series upcoming second season. Still, when asked directly about it, the beloved actor shared viewers will have to “tune in” and find out.

Fifty-seven years ago, pop vocal group The 5th Dimension released “Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In,” a song that topped the Billboard Hot 100 and became a defining generational hit.

Released on March 3, 1969, as the lead single from their fourth studio album, The Age of Aquarius, “Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In” became a major mainstream phenomenon. Not even a week after its arrival, it entered the Hot 100 chart, peaking at No. 1 on April 12, where it spent a staggering six consecutive weeks.

Alongside its chart dominance, the song also experienced significant commercial triumph. On August 9, 1991, “Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In” was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) after selling over 2 million copies in the U.S. In total, the song has moved over 3 million units globally.

Creating “Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In”

“Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In” was originally penned by composer Galt MacDermot and lyricists James Rado and Gerome Ragni for the 1967 musical Hair. During a trip to New York City, one of the band members lost his wallet, which was later returned to him by a man who happened to be involved with the Broadway show. The band was invited to see the production, which inspired them to pitch the idea of recording “Aquarius” to their producer.

Initially, producer Bones Howe declined, believing it wouldn’t succeed as a single after the official cast album failed to perform well. However, Howe soon came up with the groundbreaking idea to combine two separate tracks from the musical—”Aquarius” and “The Flesh Failures (Let the Sunshine In)”—into a continuous medley arrangement. Shortly after, the band booked studio time at United Recording in Las Vegas to begin tracking.

When asked about the chart-topping smash hit in an interview, original member of The 5th Dimension Florence LaRue expressed her fond memories of the reworked version:

“Oh, we really liked it! We had no idea it would become an anthem of the time,” LaRue said. “We had no idea at all how big it would be. We just thought it was a wonderful, uplifting song.”

Nearly six decades after its release, “Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In” remains a generational classic. On Spotify, the track has accumulated over 86 million streams, seamlessly bridging the gap between original listeners and modern demographics.

Bobby Flay knows how to pull off a surprise.

Brooke Williamson revealed the surprisingly sneaky way her boyfriend managed to determine her exact ring size before gifting her a diamond. At the time, she had no idea what he was up to.

While appearing on Carson Kressley’s podcast on Tuesday, September 8, the 48-year-old discussed the ring Flay, 61, gave her as a symbol of his commitment. Though the couple is not engaged, she explained, “He gave me a gorgeous ring.”

“He wanted to show his level of commitment to me with a gorgeous big diamond ring, and I’m not gonna argue that,” she added.

But Flay took it upon himself to guess her ring size. Williamson recalled sitting in his kitchen one night while wearing another ring. Flay complimented it, asked to see it, and slipped it onto his own finger. At the time, she apparently didn’t think much of the interaction.

“He put it on his finger and saw exactly where it came to on his finger,” Williamson explained. Flay then went to his cousin, who is a jeweler, and used that reference to determine the correct size. The plan worked perfectly. Williamson said her new diamond didn’t need to be resized at all, meaning she could immediately start wearing it.

“It was really sweet, very thoughtful, very sweet, very romantic,” she said, adding of Flay’s softer side, “A lot of people don’t see that or know that.”

And the diamond isn’t the only way Williamson is adjusting to their increasingly serious relationship. The chef also revealed that she’s undergoing treatment for a lifelong cat allergy because Flay owns Maine Coons. After learning allergy shots would require weekly appointments, Williamson was instead given drops that she puts under her tongue every morning.

“In 3 to 5 years, I should not be allergic to cats,” she said, to which Kressley responded, “That’s love.”

Neil Diamond scored his first major songwriting success when Jay and the Americans released the 1965 song “Sunday and Me,” making it not only one of the group’s biggest hits but also one of their most notable songs more than six decades later.

The iconic vocal pop group’s legacy also lives on through “Sunday and Me,” which Classic Rock History ranked No. 5 among Jay and the Americans’ 10 best songs.

The publication described 1965 as “one of the most successful years of the band’s career” following the upbeat pop-rock track’s commercial success.

Featured as the title track on their 1966 studio album, the song was initially released as a standalone single.

The public’s strong reception helped “Sunday and Me” enter the Billboard Hot 100, where it peaked at No. 18 and remained on the U.S. charts for eight weeks.

Moreover, it was also their third Top 20 single in 1965.

Behind the song’s success, Jay and the Americans weren’t the only ones celebrating the triumph; it also marked an important milestone for Diamond, who wrote the track.

His early songwriting career at the Brill Building in New York, where he worked alongside fellow songwriters who would later become major music icons.

They included Neil Sedaka, Carole King and Burt Bacharach, who were all writing songs for other recording artists at the time.

“It was an amazing time since we all worked at our craft,” Sedaka recalled, as cited by Spokesman, adding, “We worked every day from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. I learned how to write there. I learned that you need to evolve. You can’t write the same song again and again. I embraced that way of writing and so did Neil and Carole and the rest of the songwriters at the Brill Building.”

As for Diamond, “Sunday and Me” was among the songs that he wrote during his time at the Brill Building, marking his first major breakthrough as a songwriter after Jay and the Americans recorded it.

The success continued for the singer-songwriter as The Monkees recorded and released some of Diamond’s songs, including “I’m a Believer,” which topped the charts at No. 1, and “A Little Bit Me, a Little Bit You.”

By the time “Amie” became a hit in 1975, the musician who wrote and sang it was no longer a member of Pure Prairie League.

Written by founding member Craig Fuller, the harmony-rich country rock song had actually been recorded several years earlier in Toronto for the Ohio band’s 1972 album Bustin’ Out. It initially attracted little attention, only to find an audience through radio airplay and give Pure Prairie League its signature hit years later.

The band traveled to Canada to make its second album.

Working with producer Bob Ringe, Pure Prairie League recorded Bustin’ Out at RCA Studios in Toronto. Fuller was joined by guitarist George Powell and drummer Billy Hinds, while future country star Mick Ronson, best known for his work with David Bowie, contributed string arrangements to the album.

“Amie” appeared near the end of the record.

Fuller’s acoustic guitar and lead vocal anchor the song, while the band’s close harmonies and electric guitar give it the easygoing country rock sound that would eventually make it a radio favorite. On the album, “Amie” flows directly into another Fuller composition, “Falling In and Out of Love,” creating a pairing that radio stations would later frequently play together.

“‘Amie’ was written as a harder, rockin’ song, but when we got into the studio, we turned it into an acoustic guitar song,” bassist Michael Reilly told WTOP. “When guys get together and sing, that’s where magic happens. … We were lucky enough to hit upon a harmony and it just worked.”

Commercial success wasn’t immediate.

Bustin’ Out initially struggled, and Pure Prairie League was dropped by RCA. Fuller also left the group, with his departure complicated by legal issues surrounding his conscientious-objector status during the Vietnam War era.

“He filed as a conscientious objector and the judge in New York didn’t want to hear it, so he threw him in prison,” said Reilly. “We felt bad for Craig and went out to Springfield, Missouri, to bring him a chessboard, his guitar and stuff like that [in prison]. … I basically stepped up, I think by default, and grabbed the reins and kept trying to steer the buggy.”

Then radio programmers gave the album another chance.

College and FM stations began playing “Amie,” gradually building enough interest that RCA re-signed the band and released the song as a single. In 1975, nearly three years after it had been recorded, “Amie” climbed to No. 27 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Its delayed success helped revive Pure Prairie League.

The group continued with a changing lineup and later welcomed Vince Gill, years before he became a major country star. With Gill singing lead, the band scored additional hits including “Let Me Love You Tonight.”

Fuller eventually returned to Pure Prairie League as well, reconnecting with the song that had become his best-known composition.

“Nobody back in the early days in the ’70s when the band formed, nobody even dreamed that we’d get a lifetime of work out of it,” Reilly told What’s Up Newp. “It’s just one of those things that you don’t think about, and the next thing you know you’re 10-20 years down the road, and you’re still doing it.”

More than five decades after “Amie” finally reached the charts, its winding journey remains part of its appeal. Recorded in Canada, overlooked upon release, and rediscovered years later, the song ultimately gave Pure Prairie League the enduring hit that had been sitting in its catalog all along.

Netflix has decided it’s time to relive the cringe.

A certain British sitcom known as The Inbetweeners is continuing to make its presence known with another film in the works — and this time, it’s brought to you by the streaming giant that also houses Stranger Things and Kpop Demon Hunters.

It’s been 16 years since the series finale of the universe surrounding Will McKenzie (Simon Bird), Simon Cooper (Joe Thomas), Jay Cartwright (James Buckley), and Neil Sutherland (Blake Harrison). And now, the original actors find themselves back on set for a new film, as they recently took time to share in the special announcement video below.

“THE INBETWEENERS 3. Now filming,” reads the caption of Netflix’s YouTube upload from earlier this week.

Fans have since flooded the upload’s comments section to express their love for the unstoppable franchise and excitement for the upcoming movie. “I’m so hyped. The Oasis reunion last year and The Inbetweeners reunion next year! It’s just what the world needs!” wrote one YouTube user, while another person commented, “I’m American and this was the greatest show ever…..”

Original co-creators of The Inbetweeners Iain Morris and Damon Beesley are writing and directing the film, according to Netflix’s recent news release.

The suburban coming-of-age sitcom ran from 2008 to 2010 on Channel 4 in the U.K. before the 2011 film and 2014 sequel reportedly broke British box office records.

“It’s been super-fun hanging out with our friends again, and we’re going to work hard every week to ensure there are no problemos making this new film for humans,” Morris, 53, and Beesley, 54, said in a statement, per Netflix.

In 1971, a vocal trio of brothers took a Bob Dylan song and reimagined it with their own soulful twist, and 55 years later, the tune is considered one of the greatest covers of the King of Folk’s music ever recorded. Though slightly unusual for Dylan (with reports even stating he never liked the song), The Isley Brothers‘ rendition of “Lay Lady Lay” has gone down as a hit that was actually “custom-made” for the R&B-funk legends’ style.

The original version was written and recorded by the folk icon and first released as a single in July 1969, following its inclusion on his album Nashville Skyline, released in April. It was reportedly written with Barbra Streisand in mind—but solely to perform, not as a romantic gesture, according to a “lost” interview from the ’70s recovered decades later.

In a 2020 statement to NBC News, Streisand responded to the claim. “I’m very flattered to find out that Bob Dylan wrote ‘Lay Lady Lay’ for me,” she said. “What I remember is getting flowers from him with a handwritten note asking me to sing a duet with him, but I just couldn’t imagine it then. Guess what, Bob, I can imagine doing it now!”

Two years after its release, The Isley Brothers, comprising O’Kelly, Rudolph, and Ronald Isley at the time, took a chance on the tune as they were experimenting with recording different genres. Turns out, it fit their voices perfectly, though their recording of the folk-rock hit stretched the song out to a lengthy runtime of ten minutes and 21 seconds.

The romantic soul ballad was ranked among Rolling Stone‘s list of the 80 greatest Bob Dylan covers of all time, coming in at No. 19.

“This sultry bedroom number was slightly out of character for Dylan, but it was custom-made for Ronald Isley, who would soon be acknowledged as a maestro of getting ladies to lay,” the famed music publication wrote. “The Isleys tried on a bunch of different styles throughout the Seventies, and for their 1971 album, Givin’ It Back, they covered a series of white folk-rockers, discovering that sweet spot where hippie free love meets R&B seduction.”

The song invites a woman to leave her worries behind and stay with the narrator for an evening of physical and intimate connection (we’re sure you catch the drift). “Stay, lady, stay
Stay with your man awhile / Until the break of day / Let me see you make him smile,” the track’s lyrics express, per Genius.

Other tracks from over the decades that made Rolling Stone‘s roundup are Nina Simone‘s “Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues” (1969), Sam Cooke’s “Blowin’ In the Wind” (1964), The Byrds’ “Mr. Tambourine Man” (1965), Elvis Presley’s “Tomorrow Is a Long Time” (1966), Guns N’ Roses’ “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” (1991), and The Jimi Hendrix Experience‘s “All Along the Watchtower” (1968) in the top spot as the No. 1 greatest Bob Dylan cover of all time. (Dylan himself reportedly said to Hendrix, “I don’t know if anyone has done my songs better,” according to the outlet).

In 1969, Kris Kristofferson was flying helicopters over the Gulf of Mexico.

He had been a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford, a captain in the Army, and had turned down a teaching job at West Point to move to Nashville. To pay bills and child support while pitching songs, he took a job as a commercial helicopter pilot ferrying workers to and from oil rigs in the Gulf.

In a 2006 interview with Esquire, he explained the origin of the song, which was acutely tied in to what he was doing at the time.

“I was working the Gulf of Mexico on oil rigs, flying helicopters. I’d lost my family to my years of failing as a songwriter. All I had were bills, child support, and grief. And I was about to get fired for not letting 24 hours go between the throttle and the bottle. … But there was something liberating about it. By not having to live up to people’s expectations, I was somehow free.”

It was in that helicopter, between rigs, that he wrote “Me and Bobby McGee.”

Producer Fred Foster had challenged him to write a song about a traveling man and shares the credit because the title idea was his. Kristofferson named the character for studio secretary Barbara “Bobbie” McKee, mishearing her surname.

Roger Miller cut it first in May 1969. It went to No. 12 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles.

Then it kept climbing.

In 1970, Gordon Lightfoot’s version hit No. 13 on Canada’s RPM Top Singles and No. 1 on RPM Country Tracks.

On October 4, 1970, Janis Joplin recorded it for her album Pearl, nine days before she died. Bob Neuwirth taught it to her while Kristofferson was in Peru filming The Last Movie. He didn’t hear her version until the day after she died. It topped the Billboard Hot 100 in March 1971 and also hit No. 1 in Australia—the second posthumous No. 1 in U.S. history after Otis Redding’s “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay.”

In December 1971, Jerry Lee Lewis released it as the B-side to “Would You Take Another Chance on Me” and took it to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country chart.

Realizing that a habit or routine may not be as beneficial as you think is one thing—changing it is entirely another. Technology has made our lives much easier, but it’s also created a dependency that can take on a form all its own if left unchecked. I initially didn’t think much of my phone usage because, after all, everyone else is on their device all the time, so it’s “normal.” However, gauging your own happiness on anyone else’s way of life is not only a dangerous game to play, but it’s also no way to live. And if this experiment taught me one thing, it’s that having a bit less time on my phone is more in-line with what I want in my life.

Habits can be hard to break, but if you go into a change like this one with an open mind and a little bit of grace, it can be done. Again, at first I didn’t feel as though my screen time was affecting my day-to-day life, but it was. Once I learned the personal benefits of less screen time, it made me want to make more changes and involve more people. Life can feel so overwhelming and just so fast all of the time, so it’s up to us to slow it down.

Every Sunday, I took up some new hobbies, revisited old ones that I’d been putting off, paid closer attention to my surroundings in the real world and started to make “screen-free” more of a reality.

The 4-Week Experiment: Why I Committed to a Screen-Free Sunday

Have you ever had a reality check that was so blatantly obvious you wondered how you’d never seen it before? That’s how I felt when I realized that screens were taking over my life. There was hardly a moment in any given day when I wasn’t dependent on a screen for something, whether that was the cure to boredom, to have the information I was looking for, to contact the people in my life or something as simple as checking the time. It hit me that I needed to become much less dependent on my phone and become much more present in my life.

When I first took on the challenge of a screen-free day, I thought I would need to fill my time with many analog activities to keep my mind off of what I might be missing out on. This was definitely a draw to this experiment; if I didn’t get any benefits from being without screens one day a week, at least I’ll get things done.

Proactively, I made lists of things I could do to keep my mind—and hands—busy. I wanted to teach myself to crochet, put puzzles together and even set my mind to build a book nook that I’ve been putting off for ages. 

I learned, however, that I didn’t need something to constantly keep me busy or keep my mind off of not using my phone, and having those tasks to complete actually made it worse. Those tasks were a reminder that I had to do something in place of the thing I’m trying to avoid, a feeling created by having a phone constantly. I learned instead that there is beauty in not being distracted at all and actually enjoying the moments as they tick by.

I spent more quality time with my family, played more presently with my dogs, cooked more with my husband and enjoyed uninterrupted conversations at dinner. I read a few books and felt their words in a more significant way. I felt more like myself and less anxious because there weren’t constant reminders of what I wasn’t doing or didn’t have. I was simply able to enjoy what I already have and who I have it with.

As for learning to crochet… I’m still working on that one.

The Hidden Science of a Digital Detox: What Happens to Your Brain?

According to Georgetown University, a digital detox can positively affect mental health and overall well-being. Studies there even found that digital detoxing can improve sleep and your attention span. A detox does not have to be indefinite; small changes such as a few designated hours or one day a week can also be beneficial.

According to Behavioral Sciences, a study of reduced social media use to just 30 minutes per day found that the “detox improved smartphone and social media addiction, as well as sleep, satisfaction with life, stress, perceived wellness and supportive relationships.”

When you remove the need to constantly be tuned in and informed of everything, you might just find that you feel more in-tune with yourself and those closest to you, and you pay attention to the more important things in your own life. Digital detoxing is widely thought of as beneficial, while also recognizing that removing social media or digital devices entirely is simply not feasible for many.

The Hardest Part: Coping With ‘Screen Withdrawal’

FOMO is a real thing, and it was no different without a screen. Sure, scrolling Instagram or Facebook can cause you to feel like you’re missing out on whatever product or event is available, but it was surprising to me that I still felt like I was missing out when the information wasn’t even in my face. I felt the possibility of missing out. How crazy is that?

It’s a habit of mine (and many) to constantly check what time it is or what notifications have popped up, but let me tell you how relieving it was to not pay attention to all of those notifications. Once I got past the FOMO, that is. After the initial culture shock of not having a screen to present the world to me wore off, I realized that I could enjoy living at my own pace and simply be content.

I felt more present and much calmer. There was not something constantly vying for my attention, so I could truly relax. In place of checking my phone every so often, I would take a little walk around my house, take a sip or two of water (hydration is important!) or take stock of what was happening around me. I ended up spending more quality time with my pets and family and enjoyed every minute.

The Unexpected Benefits: Sleep Quality, Attention Spans and ‘Slow Time’

Research suggests that a screen detox can improve sleep due to the reduced amount of blue light stimulating your brain. When you watch videos or play a game right before trying to fall asleep, you’re actually blocking melatonin production and causing mental overstimulation. The light from your screen is essentially tricking your brain into thinking it’s still daytime, therefore keeping you awake.

While I wholeheartedly agree with these statements, improvement in sleep was not entirely my experience. I don’t think this had as much to do with the experiment as it has to do with me. I have never slept well. Some nights I cannot fall asleep no matter how tired I am; some nights I cannot stay asleep and falling back asleep is frustratingly elusive. I will say that on screen-free days, my mind was racing less and I felt more fulfilled and peaceful overall, which seemed to help me go to sleep a bit easier. It was not a fix for fitful sleep for me, but I can see how it could benefit others.

As far as improved attention span goes, I realized that being bored is not a bad thing! In my experience, I found that boredom promotes critical thinking and creativity that I otherwise would have missed out on had I been preoccupied with the newest reels. I also found that “slow time” helped me feel more tranquil. Contrary to what my brain might be telling me, I do not have to constantly be productive. Taking more time for myself and those around me definitely improved my overall outlook and mood.

How To Plan Your Own Successful Screen-Free Day

• Notify your circle: Let those you’re in contact with most often know that you’ll be unplugged beforehand so they don’t worry when or if they can’t reach you.
• Set a physical boundary: Keep your phone or tablet in a designated room and keep the door closed. Tell yourself not to open that door unless it’s for an emergency.
• Find an alternative: A huge part of screen addiction is having something to do with your hands. Find something else to do that will take the place of scrolling. Fidget toys are a great option; physically writing in a journal or making a list is helpful, as is taking up a hobby like embroidery or coloring.
• Go with the flow: Instead of trying to plan out your whole day, let the day guide you. Without the distraction of devices, you’re bound to notice things that need to be done around the house. You’ll also be more in tune with your body, allowing for an impromptu workout or finally taking the time for that self-care you’ve been putting off.

Did Liam Neeson just hard launch a new romance?

That’s what fans are thinking after the 74-year-old actor stepped out at the Toronto Film Festival to promote his new movie Evil Genius with his former co-star, Stella Stocker.

The duo held hands on the red carpet, matching in their black ensembles. Stocker starred alongside Neeson in the 2022 movie Memory, as Maya, a woman with whom Neeson’s character Alex had a one-night-stand.

Stocker’s age is not publicly available, but the brunette beauty’s agency states she can play between 35 and 45-years-old. Along with her film with Neeson, Stocker has also starred in movies such as The Batman and Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation.

The Taken actor was previously married to actress Natasha Richardson, and the couple shared two sons, Micheál and Daniel. Sadly, Richardson, 45, passed away in 2009 due to injuries sustained in a skiing accident.

Since her death, Neeson has refrained from many public relationships. However, he was recently linked to his The Naked Gun co-star Pamela Anderson in 2025.

“We were having fun,” Anderson said on Watch What Happens Live about her fling with the Irish actor. “I adore Liam, but we are better friends, in full honesty.”

However, if Neeson is with Stocker, it comes as a surprise, given he just claimed to have given up on dating.

“No, in a word. I’m past all that,” he told People in October 2024. So, what else do we know about Stocker? According to her website, she is fluent in three languages and is trained in piano, ballet, and horse riding.

She is also set to star with Neeson again, this time in the upcoming action movie The Mongoose, set for release in October 2026.

When Soap arrived on ABC in September 1977, it looked like little else on television. Created by Susan Harris, the outrageous comedy borrowed the serialized storytelling and melodrama of daytime soap operas, then pushed both to absurd extremes.

Among its sprawling ensemble was Jimmy Baio, who played Billy Tate, the teenage son of Jessica and Chester Tate. Baio was just 15 when Soap premiered, having landed the role at 14, and the series would become the defining credit of his acting career.

The Brooklyn-born actor wasn’t entirely new to television.

Baio had started acting professionally at 13 and appeared on the short-lived CBS sitcom Joe and Sons beginning in 1975. He also appeared in the 1977 movie The Bad News Bears in Breaking Training before joining Soap. But playing Billy put him alongside an ensemble that included Katherine Helmond, Robert Mandan, Richard Mulligan, Cathryn Damon, Robert Guillaume, and another rising young performer, Billy Crystal.

The series centered on two related but very different families, the wealthy Tates and working-class Campbells. Murder, infidelity, kidnapping, organized crime, amnesia, and countless other twists were treated with the exaggerated drama of the daytime programs Soap was parodying.

“I wanted to do a series where you weren’t confined to a beginning, middle, and an end in 23 minutes,” Harris told Entertainment Weekly. “And that really was the appeal. We would change the storyboard around, we could shift things, kill people, bring them back. If it didn’t work out, [the character] was gone, or if we had only scheduled this person for two episodes, they could become regulars. There was a lot to play around with. And that was my favorite show.”

Its willingness to tackle controversial subjects generated attention before the first episode even aired.

ABC added a viewer-discretion warning during the first season, while religious organizations and other groups protested the series. The controversy didn’t keep audiences away. Soap finished its first season as the 13th most popular network program of 1977–78, according to the Museum of Broadcast Communications.

The show also became an awards contender. Guillaume won an Emmy for his performance as Benson DuBois, a character popular enough to receive his own spin-off, Benson. Mulligan and Damon later earned Emmys as well.

Its reputation has endured beyond its four-season run. Soap has subsequently appeared on retrospective rankings of television’s best sitcoms, including Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 best sitcoms of all time.

Baio remained with the series through its 1981 conclusion and later appeared on shows including Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, The Facts of Life, and Matlock. Yet Billy Tate remained his signature role.

For a young actor barely into his teens when he landed the part, Soap proved to be an unusually memorable break, a controversial ABC experiment that became both a hit and a television comedy classic.

While visiting Ireland for a two-day trip centered around the Amgen Irish Open golf tournament and meetings with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin, President Donald Trump took some time out of his busy schedule to celebrate his grandson Luke’s 9th birthday.

In sweet family photos shared by Trump’s daughter-in-law and Fox News host, Lara Trump, the 80-year-old POTUS can be seen smiling alongside his son Eric Trump, Lara, Luke, and granddaughter Carolina, as they pose in front of Luke’s sports-themed birthday cake.

Luke is one of 11 of Trump’s grandchildren, ranging in age from 19 to 1 year old. In 2016, Trump’s oldest son, Don Jr., spoke about the less-seen grandfather-side of the businessman-turned-politician.

“Watching him play with them, I mean, you really see another side of Donald Trump,‘’ Don Jr. told The Today Show. “There is the image [of] the business guy, but when you see him around a family table. I mean, the sense of humor, the love, you know, playing golf with my 20-month-old, like teaching her how to swing a golf club, it’s a special moment. It’s really incredible to watch, and it’s a totally different side no one really gets to see.”

Noticeably missing from the family trip is Trump’s wife, Melania. He commented on her absence, telling reporters in Dublin, “My wife is here in spirit. She’s watching right now. She said to say hello,” before adding, “I said, ‘Well, why don’t you want to come with me?’ She said, ‘Well, that’s a seven-hour trip. Maybe I’m not that friendly.'”

Nearly three decades after he starred in a movie called Being John Malkovich, the man himself continues to make waves in the biz.

On Saturday, September 12, the two-time Academy Award nominee, 72, was honored big-time at this year’s Venice Film Festival in Italy. He and Oscar-winner Sam Rockwell star in the latest movie from Martin McDonagh, the mastermind behind past hits like In Bruges and The Banshees or Inisherin.

Variety reports that Malkovich just won the Volci Cup for best actor at the renowned festival for Wild Horse Nine, which is already getting Oscar buzz as U.S. awards season nears. Here he plays an eccentric CIA agent, and the longtime performer thanked the Venice jury for his prize via video link, since he is reportedly out of the country shooting another project.

“I am humbled to be chosen for this award, which has been given to so many wonderful actors over the past 83 iterations of the Venice Film Festival,” Malkovich said, per Variety. “Thank you to the jury for bestowing this honor upon me, and thank you, Martin McDonagh, for writing this lovely screenplay and for your superb direction of it, and for gifting me with this fantastic role. And thank you to all my wonderful colleagues, most especially my sidekick, the great Sam Rockwell.”

Meanwhile, Woman Unknown won the Golden Lion for best film. The Danish drama reportedly follows a young housemaid whose intimate relationship with a German soldier during World War II threatens her future.

“Thank you to the jury for this great honor — and to you, [jury chair Maggie Gyllenhaal], especially for using your voice and shining a light on the lack of equal opportunities for female filmmakers in our industry,” filmmaker May el-Toukhy said Saturday, per Variety. “This film has been incredibly challenging to make financially, logistically, emotionally. And what kept me going was the urgent need to illuminate the unknown women of our common history, to make them known. And especially tonight, I feel like I succeeded in doing just that.”

Kelly Clarkson is not letting her hair down after bidding farewell to The Kelly Clarkson Show in late August. The powerhouse singer has not only been busy working, including filming Season 31 of The Voice, but is also turning heads with a much shorter hairstyle than usual.

On Friday, September 11, Clarkson was in Atlanta, performing a private concert for Coca-Cola employees and partners at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Videos and photos posted by attendees reveal the original American Idol winner rocked her performance in red pants, a bedazzled Blondie t-shirt, and a short, tousled bob.

Clarkson’s wavy hair transformation was a big change from the long, straight hair style she typically sports. It didn’t go unnoticed by fans, who mostly loved the new ‘do.

“I can’t handle how good short-haired Kelly looks,” one fan account tweeted, while another asked, “New haircut? Is a new era coming soon? 👀”

Referencing Clarkson’s 2009 album All I Ever Wanted and the short bob she sported back then, another fan gushed, “So I was happy, a super AIEW tour look, the hair too. It reminded me and gave me the feeling of when she was just Kelly Clarkson the singer and her commitment was only to the setlist and a good voice. That’s what she delivered today. Yet another fan wrote on Instagram, “Love the hair!!!” and someone replied, “She looks so much younger. I thought this might be from a couple of years ago.”

But not everyone loved Clarkson’s look (this is the internet, after all), and some questioned her tousled bob choice, including one who quipped, “Did she have an argument with her hairdresser?”

Although it looks like Clarkson cut her long hair short, it’s possible that her new ‘do was actually the clever work of her hairstylist. In 2025, a promo video of Clarkson returning to The Voice as a coach showed her sporting a similar bob.

The internet went wild over her new look, but she later explained at a July show that it was all an illusion.

“My hair guy, Robert, is so good,” she told the crowd. “They braided all my hair except for the very tippy-top.”

“I asked for a bob, because I really want to cut my hair,” she continued, “but I’m, like, one of those moms that’s like, ‘I’m wearing Alo every day…I got my mom bun … I’m comfortable, okay?’ I can’t be having short hair, that’s some hard s–t to keep up with, you know what I’m saying?”

“But he’s so talented everybody thought that I had chopped my hair off,” Clarkson said of her hair stylist. “But I didn’t.”

Clarkson will return to coach The Voice Season 31 next week, with three consecutive nights of premieres: Monday, September 21 from 8 to 10 p.m. ET/PT, Tuesday, September 22 from 8 to 9 p.m. ET/PT, and Wednesday, September 23 from 8 to 9 p.m. ET/PT. But since the first episodes were filmed in July, she’s likely to be sporting her traditional long locks.

Clutter happens. It’s just a fact of life. A home security system probably isn’t the first upgrade that comes to mind when preparing a house for sale. Kitchens, bathrooms and curb appeal tend to get more attention.

But security technology has become increasingly important to buyers. Today’s systems combine cameras, smart locks, thermostats, alarms and professional monitoring into one connected setup, giving a house features that buyers may otherwise have to install after moving in.

That doesn’t mean installing a security system automatically adds thousands of dollars to an appraisal. The stronger case is that a well-designed system can improve buyer appeal, convenience and marketability, particularly when useful equipment remains with the home.

So, are home security systems worth it when resale value is part of the equation? Here’s what current buyer research and appraisal guidance suggest.

That doesn’t guarantee a higher sale price. It does suggest that security features can help a listing stand out, particularly when buyers are already comparing similar homes.

A security system is unlikely to compensate for an outdated kitchen, poor condition or an undesirable location. But buyers often compare dozens of smaller features when deciding between houses.

Having cameras, smart locks, sensors and an established security setup already in place removes another project from the buyer’s moving checklist.

Security itself can also carry significant emotional value. The National Association of REALTORS® describes feeling secure as an important part of homeownership and points to research showing that visible alarm systems can deter would-be burglars when selecting targets.

That gives the upgrade value even before resale enters the picture.

A home security system shouldn’t be treated as a guaranteed dollar-for-dollar investment in resale value. Its stronger advantage is making the home safer and more convenient while you live there, with the potential to increase buyer appeal when you eventually sell.

Unlike a renovation completed only for resale, a security system provides an immediate benefit to the current homeowner. Features such as cameras, smart locks, remote control and professional monitoring can be useful for years before the property reaches the market.

At the 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards, Michael J. Fox, 65, is being honored with the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award.

Over the course of his career, Fox has been nominated for 19 Emmys and has won five, including his first at the 38th Primetime Emmy Awards in 1986. Fox won Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series for his portrayal of Alex P. Keaton in Family Ties.

At the award show, a then-25-year-old Fox won alongside Betty White, who won for her role in The Golden Girls. Also honored at the ceremony were Rhea Perlman (Cheers) and John Larroquette (Night Court).

Fox also made history with his first Emmy win, becoming the youngest actor to ever win the prize.

He reflected on the memorable night and his now iconic acceptance speech in 2014. He shared that he was in New York working on the film, The Secret of My Success, when he asked producer David Chasmine for some advice after learning of his nomination.

“I said, ‘I don’t know what to say,’ and he goes, ‘Well, make fun of yourself. Say you feel four feet tall,'” Fox recalled. “I said, ‘OK, if I win, which I don’t think I’m going to do, but if I win, first thing I am going to say is I feel four feet tall.’ It was an amazing moment.”

Fox went on to win two more years in a row for Family Ties before winning again in 2000 for Spin City and in 2011 for his guest role in the drama series Rescue Me.

Now, he is the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award winner for his “transformative contributions to Parkinson’s disease research and advocacy.” Fox publicly disclosed his diagnosis with Parkinson’s in 1991 at the age of 29. Since its creation in 2001, the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research has raised more than $2.5 billion.

“Of course, things have gotten harder over the years,” he told People magazine. “I’m privileged to commit my time and energy to bringing everything I’ve got to help cure this disease.”
