2002 Pop Rock Hit With an ‘Insanely Catchy Chorus’ Became the Artist’s 2nd Highest-Ranking Single
Like so many of the songs penned for her debut album, The Spirit Room, singer-songwriter Michelle Branch wrote the hit single "All You Wanted" about heartbreak. Of the track, she said, "I feel like everybody wants to find someone who you feel understood by and will be there to catch you when you fall, and that's what 'All You Wanted' is about."
Branch wrote "All You Wanted" alongside producer John Shanks. Shanks was known at the time for collaborating with singers like Kelly Clarkson and Sheryl Crow.
Released on January 7, 2002, "All You Wanted" became a Billboard Hot 100 hit, peaking at No. 6 on the chart. This would be the highest Branch would chart, aside from the song with Santana "The Game of Love," in which she provided the lead vocals. "The Game of Love" reached No. 5 on the Hot 100.
Critical reception of "All You Wanted" was predominantly positive. IGN reviewed the song saying, "The lyrics, while not the deepest, are not simple or cheesy by any means. The song features some nice guitar work and again, an insanely catchy chorus." "All You Wanted" was also called "recognizable," "amazing," and "a teen fairytale worth believing in" by various critics upon its 2002 release.
The music video of the song depicted Branch entering a club and singing to her fictional boyfriend while everyone else around them stays frozen. Branch sings to her love interest, assuming he can't hear her. Later they end up on a bus and he doesn't sit next to her like she hopes he will, and when they exit the bus, everything freezes again. Branch begins singing to her boyfriend again but then notices his watch is still moving, meaning he isn't frozen and can still hear what she's singing.
The music video was nominated for two MTV video awards, though it won neither.

2000 'Masterpiece,' Told in Reverse, Named Best Psychological Thriller of All Time
A good psychological thriller keeps the audience on the edge of its seat, creating tension and conflict through its characters' mental and emotional states. The lines between reality and insanity are blurred, while paranoia, obsession, and distorted perceptions create an unsettling narrative that makes viewers feel as though it's happening to them.
A new ranking names the greatest psychological thriller of all time: a mind-bending film told partially in reverse, leaving audiences to piece together the story just as its main character does. It's a bold, groundbreaking movie that helped put The Odysseydirector Christopher Nolan on the map.
Why Memento Is Considered the Greatest Psychological Thriller EverReleased in 2000, Memento was written and directed by then-up-and-coming filmmaker Christopher Nolan. The low-budget thriller stars Guy Pearce as Leonard Shelby, a man suffering from short-term memory loss while searching for his wife's killer. The film was immediately recognized by audiences and critics alike for its innovative dual timeline structure. Now, Memento is being hailed as the greatest psychological thriller of all time. Here's why:
“Conversations about psychological revenge thrillers can never possibly be complete without talking about Memento. Well before he sat on the throne of Hollywood blockbuster filmmaking, Christopher Nolan was but an up-and-coming indie filmmaker, and Memento was the masterpiece that truly put him on the map. As one of those rare thriller movies without any flaws, it's no wonder why it's still referred to by many as Nolan's best movie to date.
What's not to praise about this absolute masterpiece? Nolan's reverse-chronological writing is some of the best of his career, his airtight direction is every bit as admirable, Guy Pearce's lead performance is criminally underrated, and the structure of the film is challenging without ever feeling confusing. Endlessly rewatchable and emotionally engrossing, Memento is the peak of what the psychological thriller genre has had to offer over the course of the last three decades.”

The Reverse Timeline That Changed Modern FilmmakingKey to the film's critical acclaim is its dual timeline structure, with one storyline unfolding in reverse chronological order while the other progresses linearly. The reverse timeline places the audience in the same position as Leonard, who is trying to track down his wife's killer despite being unable to form new memories. The result is a cinematic puzzle that forces viewers to actively separate truth from deception.
How Memento Launched Christopher Nolan's Career @therealrebornpicturesPatience is a virtue in filmmaking. From rejection to Oscar nomination, this is the Memento story. #filmmaking #Memento #ChristopherNolan #IndieFilm #Persistence
♬ original sound - Reborn Pictures - Reborn PicturesMemento quickly became a cult classic and established Christopher Nolan as a rule-breaking filmmaker willing to challenge traditional storytelling while still crafting a gripping, coherent narrative. The film remains a rare psychological thriller that immerses the audience in its protagonist's fractured perspective, forcing viewers to question everything they've seen in real time.
Twenty-six years after its release, Memento continues to define the psychological thriller genre and inspire filmmakers around the world. If there were ever a movie made for repeat viewings, Memento is it.

1981 Classic Dance Club Hit Was Written by a Band Member Who Quit After It Climbed the Charts
“Just Can’t Get Enough” was a dance song by Depeche Mode that was recorded during sessions for their debut album, Speak & Spell. The album, which was released in 1981, made it into the book, All Time Top 1,000 Albums, from Guinness Publishing.
Vince Clarke, who wrote the song when he was only 20, was inspired by "To Cut a Long Story Short" by an English band called Spandau Ballet. "It was the first time I was actually impressed by a rhythm that went 'boom-thwack, boom-thwack,'" Clarke told Rolling Stone in 2000. "It was the first time I discovered dance music for myself, and to write a song around the rhythm was quite a revelation for me. 'Just Can't Get Enough' came out of that.”
Clarke left the band the same year that the album was released, even though it was a success. “Just Can’t Get Enough” made it onto the UK Singles Chart and the US Hot Dance Club Play chart, encouraging several other band members to quit their day jobs or drop out of college to pursue music full-time.
When speaking about how different the band sounds now, he toldSongfacts, “Martin Gore [who took over as the songwriter once Clarke left] writes in a different way than I do, so that's obviously the main difference. And they've developed this kind of a rock feel to their music. I'm more a fan of pop music, or I'm more of a fan of writing pop music, that's the most difference, I guess.”
Related: 1967 Soft Rock Song, Which Was a No. 1 Hit for Four Weeks, Was Written in 20 Minutes
Vocalist Dave Gahan also spoke about the creation of the song and the album as a whole in an interview with Q magazine. “That’s the only album where the songs had already been performed for a year and a half beforehand, and we went into the studio and recorded them as we would live,” he said. “I think Daniel [Miller, their record label boss] saw us as a cross between the Ramones and the Beach Boys, in an electronic way – fast and short with really simple riffs. We were courted by major labels and were very suspicious of signing a deal that meant five albums. We’d come from that punk ethic: we just wanted to make a single. Daniel came along, and that’s all he really had the money to do, so it kind of worked. We wanted to keep in control. We never thought much beyond the next single and playing some gigs. That time was brilliant.”
“Just Can’t Get Enough” was used in popular commercials for The Gap. It was also included on shows like Glee and Gossip Girl. The official music video, which is the only one to feature Clarke, has over 109 million views with comments like: “Everyone went crazy when this song played at dance clubs in the '80s! Great memories!”
The #1 Daily Habit That Cures Loneliness Fast, According to a Psychologist
The concept of being lonely is everywhere nowadays. Whether it’s hearing about a rise in loneliness among kids and young adults, or learning that a lot of elderly people experience isolation in a new way once they hit retirement, it feels like solitude is hitting every age group right now. And maybe you’ve even experienced this yourself; something that’s a bit more serious than just being alone or a little bit down. But how do you deal with it? And is there a way to cure loneliness fast?
Well, Parade spoke with Dr. Robyn Koslowitz, a clinical psychologist, trauma expert and the author of Post-Traumatic Parenting: Break the Cycle and Become the Parent You Always Wanted to Be, to break down the psychology of loneliness and how to stop feeling lonely. She shares that there are small steps you can take to overcome loneliness and feel a little less isolated.
While there is some effort involved in her steps, the best thing is that it’s not some big-picture plan that might overwhelm you if you’re already feeling stressed or like you’re drowning in your solitude. There are truly small things that you can do each day to help fill your social tank.
So, to share the best daily habit to cure loneliness, we have a psychologist-approved strategy that is absolutely doable. Plus, Dr. Koslowitz tells Parade the difference is between being alone and feeling lonely, why loneliness happens and more.
Related: 10 Social Behaviors That Make You Seem Unapproachable, According to Etiquette Experts
Why Loneliness Happens (And What It Does to the Brain)So to figure out how to combat loneliness, we should first figure out how it starts. Dr. Koslowitz tells Parade that, as with all of our feelings, being lonely is felt throughout the body, and it can often tell us why it’s happening as well.
“All difficult emotions are essentially data,” she shares. “They're a body-based way of sending important data packets to the part of your brain that can do something about them, kind of like those indicator lights on your dashboard. Loneliness says ‘my social tank is a bit underfull’ the way hunger says ‘my nutrient tank is running low.’”
So when you’re experiencing the feeling of loneliness, that’s your body telling you that some need isn’t being met. Your social tank can be low whether that’s because you’re an extroverted person who needs a lot of social interaction to feel satisfied, or because you’re an introvert who works from home and hasn't talked to a real person recently. There are a lot of potential reasons, but that isolated or desolate feeling is meant to alert you to something that needs tending to.
The difference between being alone and feeling lonelyAnd when we’re talking about loneliness, we’re not referring to just being alone. In fact, the latter is normal and not necessarily cause for alarm; Dr. Koslowitz shares that “being alone is actually a health thing” to feel.
“Humans need to learn to develop a capacity to be alone, and feel comfortable with their own company,” she explains. “Being 'alone together' can sometimes be one of the indicators of a healthy relationship, like when a couple is sharing Sunday morning brunch, and each is engrossed in their own section of the newspaper.”
The difference comes when you feel a deep aloneness that needs to be cared for.
“Feeling lonely means my social needs are not being met, and it's a call to action—do something about that,” she states. “Chronic loneliness is like starvation—'my social tank is so empty, it's actually harming me. I'm running on a deficit.'”

The Best Daily Habit To Cure Loneliness, According to a PsychologistWhen you’re desperate or just completely over feeling a negative emotion, it’s understandable that you’d want a quick fix. And while you can’t fix chronic or deep loneliness overnight, there are some easy things you can do to start to fill your social needs fast.
“The fastest way to relieve loneliness is micro-interactions, and they're sometimes the best way to ease back into it, or to tide you over until you make actual friends (like when you move to a new city),” Dr. Koslowitz shares.
What do these micro-interactions look like? They actually don’t take too much effort.
“That might mean getting a manicure and chatting with the manicurist or the cashier, sitting on a park bench and nodding to passersby or starting conversations with them, attending a gym class and making eye contact with the person next to you (shared misery can be a bonding experience),” she explains. “I once suggested that a lonely college student 'borrow' her sister's new baby and go to a playground with her. That served the dual purpose of giving the mom a much-needed break and allowing the college student to interact with people who praised the baby's cuteness and asked if it was her child, etc.”
If your body is telling you that you’re sad and need more social interactions, you can take a little bit of time each day to put yourself out there and have those micro-interactions to give your body what it needs.
Playing with dogs at the dog park or making a new gym buddy—even if it’s just for a short time—can make a difference in how you feel by the end of the day. Again, it might not fully fix your problem, but it can put you in the mindset of doing something to help your loneliness and eventually make those lasting connections that will fill your social tank daily.

Psychological Strategies To Reshape Your MindsetThere is a bit of discourse online around breaking a “sad passivity” cycle to reshape your mindset when it is lonely. But Dr. Koslowitz shares that it’s actually more about breaking the cycle of indifference.
“Sadness is a depressing emotion—I mean that in the sense that it de-energizes and de-motivates you,” she explains. “That creates apathy (more than passivity) where your brain sort of stops believing in change, and you lose the dopamine hit that envisioning doing something different would give you. You need that dopamine hit to actually put on socially acceptable clothing (or any clothing) and leave your house.”
This is where those micro-interactions (like going to the dog park to pet people’s dogs) come in handy even more, especially if it’s been hard for you to feel the motivation to be social. She says that they can “get you over that hump.”
“Have a micro-interaction, and then that system will start up again,” she shares.
She equates it to when you’re reminded that you’re hungry by some outside stimulus, explaining, “You know how when you're starving you get to a point that you don't even want food, but then you smell something amazing, and suddenly you're hungry? That's what a micro-interaction can do for you.”
How to practice self-compassion and stop social comparisonAs with most things in life, comparison is the thief of joy, as they say. So while it might be easy to catch yourself looking at other people’s Instagram stories and see that they’re out exploring the world, getting engaged and just having a wonderful time with other people, you have to remember a few things.
One: most people show you a curated version of their lives online. Not to say everything is fake, but it’s a very specific view someone is showing you. And two: what good will come of comparing their fabulous life to yours? It will make you feel worse, especially if you’re already in the pits of loneliness.
Instead, maybe use social media as inspiration for places in your town you want to visit solo. Or find special interest groups in your area that hold meetings or events that you can attend and make micro-interactions with. And who knows, you might even make some long-lasting friends in the process.
It’s important to give yourself grace and have self-compassion in all things, but especially in your journey to beat loneliness and fill your social cup. It’s a process and won’t get “fixed” in a day or two. And maybe the first new friends you make aren’t going to be your go-tos for life. But it’s about taking those first steps, no matter how small.

How To Build Lasting Connections (Moving Past the Quick Fix)When it comes to building those lasting connections and bonds, Dr. Koslowitz shares that it can be “too hard” to fully advise on that because it all “really depends on the cause.”
“If it's a trauma response (humans always rejected me, so I fear humans, but I also need social interaction, for example), then get some therapy!” she urges.
Overall, though, she does have some good general actions to start with to grow your bonds.
“But shared interests, community involvement, volunteering with like-minded people for like-minded causes can be great places to make and deepen friendships,” she shares.
Again, she stresses that if someone “has experienced a lot of social rejection may fear reaching out, for fear of more of the same” because “it activates the same pain receptors in our brain that actual injuries activate.” If that sounds like you or someone you know struggling with loneliness, support will be necessary.
But again, if you can, putting yourself out there is a great start.
“Even joining a public speaking group like Toastmasters can help, by the way, or like I said, shared misery,” she says. “Take a gym class with other people.”
When To Seek Professional Support for Chronic LonelinessIt can be hard to be vulnerable about what you’re struggling with, even with therapists and psychologists. It can also be tough to even realize when you need more help with something. But if you’ve tried doing little things here and there to get your fill of social interaction and you still feel lonely, or you just can’t seem to make yourself begin to do these things, then you might need to seek professional support and help for your chronic loneliness.
“As always—when it interferes with living a life consistent with our values, or is too painful, get help,” Dr. Koslowitz urges. “I hope we've normalized that today!”

Danny Glover's Daughter Reveals the First Signs He Had Alzheimer's
Danny Glover's daughter is opening up about the first signs that something had changed in her father before he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
After the Lethal Weapon star, 79, announced on Wednesday, July 1, that he had been diagnosed with the progressive form of dementia back in 2022, his daughter Mandisa told PEOPLE that she had noticed one specific change in the days leading up to that diagnosis.
Revealing that she first began to notice a shift in Glover's behavior around the time that he was presented with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the 2022 Academy Awards, Mandisa recalled, "The history of my dad is that he remembers every single thing back to 1970, what corner he was standing on, who he spoke to, what they spoke about, what color they were wearing, everything."
"He'd tell you so much about his parents—and I've heard those stories over and over—and pieces were missing," she continued. "There would be pieces of the story missing. I said, 'I wonder what's going on.'"
Ultimately, The Color Purple star would go on to be diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, the most common form of dementia, which causes memory loss and other cognitive abilities, as per the Alzheimer's Association.
Mandisa said that today, she finds that her father is "aware sometimes and then sometimes not."
In a conversation with Lester Holt on Wednesday's Today show, Glover revealed that his speech, movement and memories have slowed down with his Alzheimer's diagnosis.
"I could live with it, in a sense," Glover said during the interview, but added that as the disease progresses, "things are going to be different and changing."
Mandisa told Holt, “I think it’s really important for him to have control of his own narrative, of his own life story. That’s really important. And the time is now. What better time but now for him to speak for himself?"
1982 Classic, 'Detested' by the Band, Became a Soft Rock Anthem
When the Alan Parsons Project released "Eye in the Sky" in 1982, it quickly became the group's biggest commercial success. But before it reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became one of the defining soft rock songs of the decade, Alan Parsons wasn't convinced it belonged on the album at all.
"One little anecdote about the song," Parsons recalled in an interview on the band's official YouTube channel. "I detested it to start with."
Related: Foreigner Revives Controversial 1979 Song for First Time in Decades
According to Parsons, songwriting partner Eric Woolfson brought him the song, but the band struggled to find an arrangement that worked.
"Eric brought the song in and we were trying to find the right feel for it," Parsons said. "We played all kinds of different tempos, different feels. And then eventually we just settled on this chugging doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo... and then it was fine."
Even after the breakthrough, Parsons admitted he has "never been allowed to forget" that he was ready to abandon the song altogether.
Fortunately, the Alan Parsons Project stuck with it.

Released as the lead single from Eye in the Sky, the song climbed to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, reached No. 1 in Canada and Spain and spent a combined 63 weeks across Billboard's Hot 100, Adult Contemporary and Mainstream Rock charts. The album of the same name remained on the Billboard 200 for 41 weeks, becoming the project's biggest commercial success.
Related: Iconic ’70s Rock Band Is Climbing the Charts Again 67 Years After Forming
Part of the song's enduring appeal comes from its seamless pairing with the instrumental "Sirius," which opens the album before flowing directly into "Eye in the Sky." Although the two tracks are often separated, Parsons has always considered them inseparable.
"But the intro, 'Sirius,' that was very much my contribution," he said. "I always think of them together, 'Sirius' and 'Eye in the Sky,' as one piece."
He even joked that the famous pairing was only split because "the Chicago Bulls didn't want to play the whole song," referring to the NBA team's longtime use of "Sirius" during its player introductions.
More than 40 years after its release, "Eye in the Sky" continues to earn recognition as one of the era's defining songs. In 2024, Paste Magazine ranked it No. 21 on its list of the Greatest Yacht Rock Songs of All Time, praising it as "pop bombast sung with softness" and arguing that it still feels underrated decades after reaching the charts.
"What’s crazy about 'Eye in the Sky' is that it’s so often paired with 'Sirius,' a song that is so antithetical to yacht rock. That’s fine, as the Alan Parsons Project really nailed it on the former—subverting the jazzier tropes of yacht rock and, instead, leaning into the proggier tropes," wrote Paste Magazine.
That lasting reputation is especially remarkable considering Parsons nearly gave up on the song before it was ever recorded. Instead, "Eye in the Sky" became the Alan Parsons Project's signature hit, proving that even future classics aren't always obvious from the start.

MSC Reveals First-of-Its-Kind Pan-Asian Street Food Pavilion Coming to New Megaship
If your favorite part of traveling is following your nose to the nearest night market, your next cruise vacation is about to get a whole lot more delicious.
MSC Cruises has just pulled back the curtain on a brand-new, first-of-its-kind dining concept heading to its upcoming ship, MSC World Asia, and it is safe to say your sea-day cravings are officially covered.
When the ship debuts in the Mediterranean in December 2026, it will introduce a sprawling three-in-one venue designed to mirror the sights, sounds, and incredible energy of the bustling street food scenes across Indonesia, Singapore, South China, Thailand and Vietnam.
Instead of sticking to a traditional cruise dining format, this single space combines a relaxed specialty restaurant, a lively cocktail bar, and—perhaps most exciting for mid-afternoon snackers—a complimentary, grab-and-go street food window.

The idea is all about giving you complete flexibility. If you want a full, sit-down meal, the main specialty restaurant space lets you mix and match bold, communal-style dishes like aromatic Singapore-style shrimp, wok-fired specialties, and shiitake mushroom fried rice, which you can pair with authentic bottled beers like Tsingtao and Bintang or a fresh bubble tea. For a casual pre-dinner drink, the integrated bar and lounge will be shaking up Southeast Asian-inspired cocktails, including jasmine mojitos and matcha coladas.
But the real game-changer for anyone looking to maximize their time between onboard activities is the complimentary on-the-go window. Mimicking the casual spontaneity of a true street market, you can simply walk up and snag quick, flavor-packed bites like crispy seafood balls and fluffy bao buns without missing a beat.

To bring the concept to life, MSC tapped the combined expertise of Chef Xiao Wang, who brings deep Shanghai culinary roots, and Chef Luca Césarini, who has spent years working in world-class kitchens across Thailand and China. Together, they have curated an environment where live kitchen energy, bold artwork and an immersive soundtrack all work together to transport you straight to the heart of Asia.
This new venue joins an already massive lineup on MSC World Asia, which will boast an impressive 40 bars, lounges, cafés and restaurants. For foodies looking to plan ahead, the ship will feature nineteen total dining venues, including signature favorites like the Butcher’s Cut steakhouse, Kaito Sushi Bar, Kaito Teppanyaki and Hola! Tacos & Cantina.
Whether you're a seasoned cruiser looking for something fresh or a casual traveler who plans every vacation around the local food scene, this immersive new space proves that the journey to the Far East can start right at the buffet line—or rather, the street food window.
Julie Chen Moonves Defends Rachel Reilly's Controversial 'Big Brother' Exit: 'It Wasn't Fair. Neither Is Life.'
As recently announced, Big Brother 28 will be undergoing quite a blast from the past. The new season, themed "Big Brother: Time Trip," will have this summer's houseguests entering a world where rooms, relics and competitions transport them across moments in time. And, while the house decor certainly indicates any time period in history is up for grabs, host Julie Chen Moonves has teased that the throwbacks may apply to competitions as well.
"Does that mean we're going to bring back some competitions you haven't seen since Season 2, 3, 4, 5? I sure hope so," she tells the press during a media roundtable. "I'm pretty sure you're going to be like, 'Oh, they haven't done that forever!' And then with the time travel theme, maybe we'll do a new twist, which is, 'You loved that competition in Season 4. But they have to be, I don't know, surrounded by dinosaurs.'"

So, if past seasons of Big Brother are up for grabs, the first one we should examine is probably its most recent. After all, Season 27 went full Clue early on, checking the players into the "Hotel Mystere," where they were immediately tasked with saving Chen Moonves, who was kidnapped by the nefarious "Mastermind." Despite the heavy aesthetic that pervaded the house, when asked which theme she wouldn't want to revisit, she makes mention that she felt they didn't take things far enough last year.
"I did feel slightly disappointed last season with Hotel Mystere," she admits. "There was this clock on the wall; maybe Rachel Reilly popped out of it. I thought there was going to be more of the evil Mastermind. I would bring that back if the Mastermind [were] a bigger presence. It was a little disappointing that he wasn't in it enough. Like, where is he?! Where's his lair? Get him out! Is he practicing to be Zingbot? That was a little disappointing to me. I wanted more of that. So, actually, I would bring that back to do more of it."
One of the most talked-about moments of last season involved not Reilly's entrance in the Season 27 house, but her exit. The former winner appeared at the end of the premiere, the only veteran in a cast of newbies. And despite an up-and-down prejury, she had made it all the way to Day 60. Then, the houseguests were ushered into the backyard and told that they would be checking into a new place for the night: The White Locust.

There was no HoH competition, no nominations to be made. Instead, the players would pick one another to participate in an individual competition (colloquially known by fans as the "Hamster Wheel of Death"). The first person to fail would be immediately eliminated and sent to the jury. And, wouldn't you know it, that person happened to be Reilly. The series of events prompted massive outcry from fans and alumni alike, feeling that it was too much of a departure from the tried-and-true structure of the game. But Chen Moonves feels a bit differently.
"I loved White Locust!" she exclaims. "It wasn't fair. Neither is life."
"I mean, it had to show her fans she's human," she continues. "She was untouchable, and it showed you it's a different game. She was the queen when she won. No one can take that away from her. But she didn't know how to do that one competition. I mean, I get it. She's a wife, she's a mom. Our brains are wired a little bit differently. We're also older. It's a different game. It gets harder every year.
"You could be a master of the game, sitting at home watching. You play it, you're like, 'I'm not cut out for this.' It takes a very unique situation to win. It's not about who you are. You have to be in a set of circumstances. So it's not like, 'Oh, clear winner!' We've seen every personality type win with every different game. Liars win, floaters win. People who play it too hard, Paul Abrahamian, or Vanessa [Ruosso], the poker player. You have to have this inexplicable thing. Almost magic, but magic's not real. It needs to be your time."

Big Brother itself created some magic two years ago by changing up its weekly structure. Starting in Season 26, the HoH would nominate three people that week, with the trio going into eviction night all on the block. They would then compete against one another, with the winner marking themselves safe from eviction, while the other two faced a proper vote. Whether you call it the "A.I. Arena" or the "BB Block Buster," we'll "C" it in Big Brother 28 according to Chen Moonves.
"Three nominees, that's nothing new," referring to temporary twists from seasons past. "But you might not know why we did it. The reason we introduced that concept was because, early in the season, it was so predictable. It was a landslide, group mentality. So it's like, 'Haha, not so fast!' And it works so well that I think we extended it a number of weeks that first time we did it, and then it became a regular thing. And it employs more people, because it's another sound stage. We need people to set up, break down, so it's a ripple effect. So that is still going to be factored in."
It's unknown, however, how long the Block Buster plans to run (for reference, it ended at the Final 9 in Season 26, and at the Final 6 in Season 27). However, always the consummate veteran, Chen Moonves does ominously tease, "Are we gonna put in more people? I don't know!" Hopefully, we'll find out in a mere matter of days, as Big Brother 28 premieres with a special 90-minute episode on Thursday, July 9, at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.

Beloved Rock Band, Disbanded After Six Years, Ranked Among 'Best Supergroups' of All Time
Velvet Revolver, the hard rock band, made a lasting impact on the industry despite its relatively short run.
Composed of notable musicians from Guns N’ Roses and Stone Temple Pilots, the five-piece band has been ranked among the top five supergroups of all time.
In a list cited by Louder Sound, the publication ranked the 20 greatest supergroups, featuring bands known for not just pure talent but also fame, glamour and undeniable charisma.
Based on the ranking, Velvet Revolver secured the fourth spot behind Cream, Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Temple Of The Dog which claimed the top three positions.
The outlet described the “Slither” hitmaker as being “a more electrifying proposition than whatever incarnation of GN’R Axl Rose was dragging around the world.”
Formed in 2002, the group was comprised of Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland on lead vocals, former Wasted Youth guitarist Dave Kushner and Guns N’ Roses members Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Slash.

It was in 2004 that they released their first studio album Contraband, which landed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart while selling over 256,000 copies in its first week of release.
Without a doubt, the album produced hit songs including the Grammy-winning track “Slither” along with “Fall to Pieces,” which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart and the fourth single, “Dirty Little Thing.”
Two years later, Velvet Revolver released their second and final album, Libertad, featuring tracks such as “She Builds Quick Machines” and “The Last Fight.”
While Contraband was a major hit, the band’s sophomore album was met with a more mixed response.
Some fans described it as a “big disappointment,” with others labeling it a “sophomore slump,” a term used to describe a follow-up release that fails to match the success or expectations set by a debut.
Apart from failing to match the commercial success of their first album, some Velvet Revolver members were also dealing with personal issues, including substance abuse.
"I started drinking heavily and revisited my opiate passion, then had to come out of it, so eventually I had to say, ‘That’s it!’ Certainly Scott had his issues; even Duff and Matt went down the same road,” Slash mentioned in an interview with Spinner via Ultimate Guitar, adding that the only member who stayed sober was guitarist Dave Kushner.
As for their final album, Slash thought of it as the opposite of how the public perceived it and said Velvet Revolver had lost its chemistry.
“We all eventually came out of it and made the Libertad record, which I thought, musically, was a good record, but we lost Scott and we never regained that,” the iconic musician said. “I thought the overall spirit of everything was declining at that point… The Australian tour was the final blow.”
In April 2008, Weiland officially left the band, a departure that ultimately led to the disbandment of Velvet Revolver after its six-year run as a supergroup.

REI’s Retro Cooling Neck Wrap Offers 'Relief in Extreme Heat' for Under $10
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
Back in the 1990s, my family had these super nifty cooling neck wraps filled with squishy beads that we kept in our refrigerator. I wore them for outdoor sports, summer fishing trips, and even walking our dogs around the neighborhood to combat the sweltering South Texas heat. They really worked, but were a distant memory until I recently came across some very similar cooling ties on sale at REI.
Apparently, I'm not the only one who remembers how awesome these handy little towel-like wraps were for keeping cool. "I spotted these, and I instantly knew they were the same ones I had as a kid in the early '90s," an REI shopper raved. Kafka's Kool Tie has earned over 200 perfect five-star reviews, and it's an incredibly simple way to beat the heat this summer. Best of all, it's now on sale for just $9, down 25% from the usual $12 price during REI's 4th of July sale event.
Kafka's Kool Tie, $9 (was $12) at REI Shop at REITo activate the polymer crystals inside the cotton scarf, you'll need to soak the wrap for approximately 30 to 45 minutes until fully hydrated. Once it's fluffed up to approximately one inch in diameter, you can either use it right away or store it in the refrigerator (not the freezer, as the extreme cold can damage the beads) until you need it.
The scarf's evaporative action works quickly to draw heat away from the body and assists in cooling the blood flowing at the base of the skull to help regulate body temperature. Shoppers said this neck tie works similarly to tying a wet or frozen bandana around your neck, but the cooling effect is more efficient and lasts much longer, keeping wearers cool for many hours and even days at a time.
Avid golfers, vacationers in the tropics, cooks in hot kitchens, outdoor workers, and other shoppers battling high temperatures shared that this neck tie offered "relief in extreme heat." Customers who wore them hiking in the Grand Canyon, while doing yard work in Florida, and backpacking through Spain all said these scarves are a "must-have for hot weather."
Reviewers with multiple sclerosis, migraines, and hot flashes from menopause also agreed that this cooling towel offered much-needed relief from symptoms that they said get worse in the heat. One person who wore theirs during a heatwave raved that it "keeps you cool when the A/C isn't working!"
"My wife and I have been wearing these Kool Ties for over 10 years," a shopper explained. "My wife, a cardiologist, recommends them to her patients all the time for their ability to help reduce blood pressure. We like to hike and bike, and these are a part of our kit."

Frankie Muniz's Wife Defends Their 'Fun' Divorce Announcement After 'Cruel' Backlash
Paige Price Muniz is standing up for estranged husband Frankie Muniz after he faced "cruel" criticism for his "fun" divorce announcement.
The Malcolm in the Middle star, 40, and his wife of seven years announced they had decided to split after 10 years together in a Wednesday, July 1, social media post, which featured a video of the former couple and their 5-year-old son Mauz dancing to We the Kings' “Check Yes, Juliet.”
In the original post, the couple wrote that they had been separated privately before ultimately deciding to get a divorce, with Muniz quipping, "Who says you can't stay best friends with your baby momma?"
It wasn't long before Muniz removed the first post and replaced it with another that simply featured a photo with his estranged wife and son alongside the divorce announcement.
Price, 33, was quick to defend their initial video under the new post, commenting, "Frankie, I am so sorry that you felt the need to delete an old fun video of our family because people are so cruel to you."
"This world is so f---ed… divorce is bad, sure — it's not like we're excited about it… but we're two adults who know how to be on the same team," she continued. "I can't believe people could scrutinize that."
Price also wrote on her Instagram Stories, "The internet is a scary place. I wish you all a kinder sea."
In Muniz's second divorce announcement, he wrote that after "10 beautiful years together," he and Price, who tied the knot in 2019, had "grown in ways that made us realize our relationship feels most natural and strong as a deep friendship and as co-parents."
"We share an incredible son who remains the center of our world, and we’re both happier, stronger parents because of the love and growth we’ve shared," he continued, adding, "I’m endlessly grateful to Paige for everything she’s done for me and our family. She put her own dreams on hold so I could chase mine, and she was always my biggest supporter. That foundation of respect and friendship isn’t going anywhere."
The former child star concluded with a request for privacy, adding, "We’re closing one chapter with gratitude and opening the next with bright futures ahead, for us as individuals and especially for our son. Thank you for the love and support."
Amy Adams "Forgot How to Act" on the New Star Wars Film
For most actors, landing a role in a "Star Wars" film is a career milestone. For Amy Adams, it turned her back into a nervous fan.
The six-time Oscar nominee opened up about her role in "Star Wars: Starfighter" during a recent appearance on the SmartLess podcast, hosted byJason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett. Adams confirmed what fans had suspected for months, that her part in Shawn Levy's upcoming film is a small one. But the size of the role didn't stop her from getting emotional about it.
Adams described touring the creature shop twice during production and marveling at the practical sets, saying she was too excited to hold back her reaction. She admitted she showed up to her first day of filming so overwhelmed that she briefly lost her composure in front of the director, joking that Levy probably wondered if she was okay. "I'm on a Star Wars set, and I grew up on this," she said, adding that separating her "dorky fangirl" instincts from her job as a professional actor proved harder than expected.
She stopped short of revealing plot details, citing confidentiality, but did offer one endorsement: her young co-star Flynn Gray, she said, is "so great. I was so nervous the first day of working, like I forgot how to act."
Related: Ryan Gosling's Star Wars Movie Gets Its First Public Look, But You Can't See It Yet
Adams has not been officially confirmed by Lucasfilm in a specific role, though multiple reports have described her as playing the mother of Gray's character, who leads the film alongside Ryan Gosling. Some rumors suggest her character may also be Force-sensitive, though none of that has been verified by the studio.
"Starfighter" is the first "Star Wars" theatrical release set entirely outside the Skywalker Saga, unfolding roughly five years after "The Rise of Skywalker." Directed by Levy, who previously worked with Adams on "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian," the film also stars Matt Smith and Mia Goth as its central villains, alongside Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman and Daniel Ings. Production wrapped in December 2025, and the movie remains on track for its May 28, 2027 theatrical release, according to SFF Gazette.
Adams' comments arrive as anticipation builds for the film's marketing rollout. Disney screened early footage for industry insiders at CineEurope in Barcelona last week, though a public trailer has yet to materialize. For a franchise that has leaned heavily on nostalgia in recent years, Adams' unfiltered reaction, an accomplished actor reduced to fangirl nerves by a set full of practical props and puppets, offers an early glimpse of the emotional pull "Starfighter" is hoping to tap into for longtime fans.
Whether her scenes end up spanning minutes or seconds of runtime, Adams made clear the experience left an impression regardless of how long she's on screen.
1977 Iconic Record Currently Stands as the Longest-Charting Album in Rock History
As far as quintessential rock and roll goes, it doesn't get any more authentic than Fleetwood Mac. Their albums and performances are the stuff of legend, fueled by rage, heartbreak, sex, and a copious amount of drugs. But through all the existential noise was born some of the greatest music that ever was (or, in my opinion, frankly ever will be).
The British-American band hit the pinnacle of their career when they released Rumours, despite the fact that every single band member's personal life was in utter turmoil. The album entered the charts on February 26, 1977, at number 10, and by April 2, it hit the top spot and stayed there for 31 non-consecutive weeks, fueled by its four Top 10 singles ("Go Your Own Way," "Dreams," "Don't Stop," and "You Make Loving Fun").
Why Is Rumours Charting Again in 2026?Through the following 49 years, Rumours would re-enter the charts several times. In totality, it has spent 683 weeks on the chart thanks to unique modern spikes. It climbed back into the Top 15 in 2011, and its repeated Top 30 resurgences in early 2026 (including hitting No. 26 on February 14, 2026, and holding strong at No. 27 on May 16, 2026) have all been driven by vinyl sales and viral social media moments. That means in Billboard's illustrious history, Rumours comes in second only to Michael Jackson's Thriller, making it the top-charting album in rock history.
Rumours is back in the spotlight and has been sitting at No. 3 on Billboard’s Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart since May, which just proves that the album's longevity really does not have any limit to it. Its constant presence in pop culture seems to reignite fervor for the album regularly.
Related: 1985 Rock Classic, Inspired by a Famous Rock Romance, Became a Defining Breakup Anthem
Behind the Scenes During the Production of 'Rumours'Things were absolutely wild during the making of this iconic album. Perhaps it was the "drama," as Christine McVie, the band's late keyboardist, once described it to Rolling Stone. McVie was in the process of divorcing her husband and fellow bandmate, John McVie. Newest members Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were also going through a major breakup, and even Mick Fleetwood was going through a divorce from his wife after learning she had an affair. By the end of the recording, Nicks and Fleetwood had a brief affair, fueled by the Rolling Stone cover they shot together.
The sessions were full of awkward silences, screaming matches, and heavy, heavy drug use. Adding to that, the band was under massive pressure to make a hit album following the impressive but not quite legendary status of their self-titled 1975 tenth studio album, which featured hit singles "Over My Head," "Say You Love Me," and "Rhiannon." Honestly, it's a miracle the album was even completed.
Thankfully, it was, or who knows what our cultural zeitgeist would look like without it.

The Voice of Jasmine in ‘Aladdin’ Was Scared She’d Be Fired After ‘A Whole New World’ Was Written
Linda Larkin was the voice of Princess Jasmine in 1992’s Aladdin, one of the most iconic Disney films of all time. The actress recently spoke about the creation of the classic film on the June 30 episode of “Hey Dude… The 90s Called.” She explained how the original script didn’t have as many scenes with Jasmine and didn’t contain any singing.
"The audition had come through my theatrical agent, so they were specifically and deliberately looking for actors, and they were looking for people with a strong sense of comedy, which we learned later was because Robin Williams was going to be the Genie,” she explained. “Had there been a song, I would have never auditioned for it because I'm not a singer.”

“And then they wrote a song, and I was like, ‘I'm out. That's it,'" she said, referring to the iconic song, “A Whole New World,” which the character of Jasmine sings alongside Aladdin.
Luckily, production decided to find someone else to perform the songs who sounded similar to her, making Jasmine the first Disney princess to have her singing voice and her speaking voice played by two separate people.
Lea Salonga, who also went on to play the lead’s singing voice in Mulan, was hired as the singing voice of Jasmine. Although Larkin remained on the project, she revealed she was nervous that she was going to get fired. She thought, “They're going to discover that Lea Salonga can also speak and she can also act.” She stated that every day she walked into the studio, she wasn’t sure whether she was “really going to end up in the final cut of this film.”

During her podcast appearance, she also discussed what it was like working alongside Williams. “The thing we were the most scared of doing is ruining a take, cause everything he did was brilliant and it was different,” she admitted. “Sometimes he only did it once, and that's what ended up in the movie, and it was improvised.”
She added, “I wanted to be good enough, professional, and I wanted to really be able to keep up with this person that I knew was just beyond genius, and now I'm like in the room with him in a little tiny room. Every sound is picked up.”
Aladdin went on to become a hit, winning two Oscars and five Grammy Awards, including several for “A Whole New World.” Larkin went on to appear in the sequels to Aladdin. She also voiced the character when she appeared in Ralph Breaks the Internet and Kingdom Hearts.
Voice Actor Appeared in More Than 800 Episodes of Longest-Running TV Show—But Has Never Watched It
A beloved voice actor made the shocking confession that he has never actually seen the fan-favorite animated TV show.
Harry Shearer lends his voice for several characters on The Simpsons, but he's yet to watch a single episode — despite appearing in over 800 of them.
In a new interview with The I, the actor was asked whether the 1990s episodes, which are often considered as the cartoon's prime years, have aged well.
"I don’t know. I haven’t seen it," he admitted. When the interviewer explained that reruns of the episodes in question air continuously on TV and are still loved by viewers, he said: “That’s what I hear! But it’s good to hear you say that.”
Shearer has voiced several characters, including Mr. Burns, Kent Brockman, Mr. Smithers and Ned Flanders, since the show began in 1989. His work has won a plethora of awards, including the prestigious 2014 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance.
Despite never seeing the show, his longstanding commitment proves how much he enjoys the job.
"I still enjoy playing all these characters,” he continued. "It was the reason I did this instead of some other television show where you’re pretty much limited to one character. I liked the idea of the variety of characters, and I still like that."
View this post on InstagramIn 2025, it was announced that a second The Simpsons movie would be arriving on July 23, 2027, much to the delight of dedicated fans.
"I always wanted to be there when the first one came out," one fan wrote in the comments of teaser artwork posted on the official 20th Century Fox Instagram account. "I was too young to see it then. Maybe this time I can experience the movie in theaters."
"The world is healing," said a second.
"This was not on my birgo card," a third commented. "Woo-hoo!"

This terrifying new experience will transport fans into the twisted world first brought to life by Clive Barker, where desire, suffering and the unknown collide, beginning Friday, August 28 at Universal Orlando Resort and Thursday, September 3 at Universal Studios Hollywood.Universal Studios
Since Clive Barker first introduced the world to the series in 1987, Hellraiser has stood as a giant of supernatural horror. The chilling mythology centers on the Lament Configuration—a puzzle box that acts as a portal to a diabolical dimension ruled by ritualistically torturous beings known as the Cenobites, led by the unforgettable Pinhead.
Now, fans will get to experience that chilling world personally, with an extra dose of authenticity: legendary actor Doug Bradley is reprising his role to lend his iconic, booming voice to the haunted houses in both Orlando and Hollywood.

'RHOA's Cynthia Bailey Lived the Same Caregiving Reality Many of Her Fans Know All Too Well
When Cynthia Bailey’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star stepped into caregiving without hesitation—but quickly learned the role carries an invisible weight: constant emotional labor, shifting identity, and the pressure to stay strong while quietly absorbing fear.
Bailey joined the millions of adults in the “sandwich generation,” those caring for both children and aging parents while also balancing careers and other daily demands.
“When my mom was diagnosed, it was a no-brainer for me to step in as her caregiver,” Bailey told Ebony. “For me, it wasn’t about, ‘Okay, how much will all of this cost, I’ll pay for it.’ I wanted to be there physically because it’s what she would and has done for me. My mother is my rock and has been there for me in all aspects of my life—from the birth of my daughter to dealing with my own health issues.”
View this post on InstagramBailey enlisted help from her siblings to ensure her mother received the best possible care as a family. “My sister, brother and I made sure to each be there how and when we could,” she said. “While I couldn’t completely give up working—and she wouldn’t have wanted me to—I did make the necessary sacrifices to ensure I could be around as much as possible. Whether that meant setting up my computer to work remotely or taking important meetings from her home so she at least saw me and knew I was there in support.”
Beyond doctor visits, medication tracking, and daily caregiving tasks, Bailey also focused on being a source of emotional strength for her mother.
“Words are power,” she said. “In addition to all that I did for my mom, I was intentional about arming her with an energetic, strong, positive mindset to make her feel like we’re going to get through this. And even if we don’t, we’re going to make the best of the situation. That is also part of the healing process. They have to feel like they will be okay, to actually be okay.”
Bailey's mother was declared cancer-free later in 2022. Bailey stepped away from RHOA after Season 13 and has returned as a friend in recent seasons.
Walmart’s 'Super Cold' $190 Portable Air Conditioner Triples as a Fan and Dehumidifier, and It's 47% Off Right Now
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
Summer is officially in full swing, and the temperatures are rising right along with it. Across much of the country, this week's forecast is shaping up to be one of the hottest stretches of the season, sending many people searching for ways to keep their homes cool without sending their energy bills through the roof. If you've been putting off buying an air conditioner, now is the time to act.
One deal worth paying attention to is the Frostorm 4-in-1 Portable Air Conditioner at Walmart, which is currently marked down 47%, dropping from $360 to just $190. Shoppers say it blows "super cold" air, but that's only part of its appeal. Beyond cooling your space, it also works as a fan, dehumidifier, and sleep mode unit, making it a versatile solution for everything from apartments and bedrooms to home offices and dorm rooms.
Frostorm 4-in-1 Portable Air Conditioner, From $190 (was $360) at Walmart Shop at WalmartBuilt to handle sweltering summer days, this unit does far more than simply cool the room. It functions as a “super cold” air conditioner, a “powerful” fan, and an “excellent” dehumidifier, giving you multiple ways to stay comfortable. Its 8,500 BTU (British Thermal Unit) cooling capacity is essentially a measure of how much cooling power the unit can produce. In simple terms, the higher the BTU, the more effectively it can lower the temperature in a larger space. This model is designed to comfortably cool rooms up to 360 square feet, making it a great fit for bedrooms, living rooms, apartments, dorms, or home offices. You can adjust the temperature anywhere from 61 to 88 degrees Fahrenheit, while multiple fan speeds, a 24-hour programmable timer, and a dedicated sleep mode let you tailor the climate to exactly how you like it.
Designed for convenience, the unit measures just 12.5 inches long, 12 inches wide, and 26.2 inches tall, giving it a relatively compact footprint that won't dominate the room. Built-in 360-degree caster wheels make it easy to roll wherever cooling is needed most. Setup is simple, too. It comes with an adjustable exhaust hose, window kit, and all the necessary hardware to fit both horizontal and vertical sliding windows between 25.5 and 47 inches, with most shoppers able to get everything installed in about 15 minutes. Once it's up and running, the included remote lets you control the temperature and settings from up to 16.5 feet away, so you won't have to leave the couch every time you want to make an adjustment.
Beyond cooling, the unit also helps make your home feel more comfortable by pulling excess moisture out of the air. Its built-in dehumidifier can remove up to 55 pints of water per day, helping sticky, muggy rooms feel cooler even before you lower the temperature. It also uses R32 refrigerant, a more energy-efficient coolant that consumes about 10% less electricity than older refrigerants while producing a lower environmental impact. Despite its “powerful” performance, “the low-noise design is amazing,” according to shoppers. The unit operates at 54 decibels or less, which is about the volume of a normal conversation.
Shoppers had plenty of praise for this “compact” and “quiet” air conditioner, saying that it's “perfect for daily use” and “so convenient.” One shopper wrote, “It cools my room quickly and efficiently, even on hot days. The remote control makes it easy to adjust settings, and the included kit made installation simple.”
Another reviewer agreed, echoing that “the remote is a nice touch,” as it lets you “make adjustments without having to get up.”
