That’s the vision "Under the Boardwalk" by The Drifters has been creating for listeners for more than six decades—and it’s exactly why it's regarded as one of the greatest beach songs of all time.

Billboard ranked the song No. 2 on its list of the best beach songs of all time, which includes 10 of the all-time greatest summer songs.

The famed music publication rounded up “10 best songs the past century of music has to offer on the topic, featuring contemporary pop stars such as Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry to visionary groups like The Drifters and, of course, the Beach Boys. Some of them are exactly as fun and free as they seem on the surface, while others were written with deeper metaphors inspired by the ocean’s many mysteries in mind.”

Released in June 1964, the track arrived during a defining era for the group, who had already built a reputation for polished, harmony-rich hits. Former Days of Our Lives star Patrick Muldoon has died at the age of 57, according to Deadline. Following the news, his former on-screen mother, Lauren Koslow, shared a tribute honoring the late actor.

Muldoon originally portrayed Austin Reed from 1992 to 1995, during which time Kate Roberts was played by Deborah Adair. After his departure, the role of Austin was recast with Austin Peck. Adair later exited as well, with Koslow taking over the role of Kate, a character she has played for nearly three decades.

Muldoon reprised his role as Austin Reed in 2011, marking the first time he shared scenes with Koslow. His return was brief, and he exited the series again in 2012 after approximately ten months.

Koslow reflected on their time together in a poignant Instagram post, writing, “For a period on #Days I got to play mama to this beautiful, free spirited and extremely creative soul.”

She then recalled working closely with him, sharing, “Patrick was a constant delight - we had FUN! I remember the laughter most of all,” she added, “Thanks for the magical interlude.”

Koslow also offered condolences, writing, “My heartfelt condolences to your family, friends & all who loved you sweet man- you are missed.”
She concluded her tribute writing, “Rock on ❤️❤️❤️”

Muldoon visited the set of Days of Our Lives last summer, sparking fan speculation that he might be reprising his role. However it was later clarified by a representative for the show that he was simply visiting with a friend and would not be appearing on screen.

The star of this story is Yuji, a baby patas monkey born on March 3 at the Guadalajara Zoo in Mexico. Only weeks after birth, Yuji faced a difficult start to life when his mother, a first-time parent named Kamaria, rejected him and failed to form the typical maternal bond that young primates depend on.

Without that bond, the newborn could not cling to his mother as young monkeys usually do. Zoo staff intervened quickly and moved Yuji to the zoo’s Comprehensive Center for Animal Medicine and Welfare, where veterinarians and caretakers began hand-raising him and monitoring his development around the clock.

Zookeepers introduced a plush stuffed dog into Yuji’s enclosure. The toy was meant to provide warmth and something soft to hold. Instead, it became more like a surrogate companion. Yuji now clings to the toy for comfort and security while being bottle-fed and cared for by staff.

Instead of jet engines, they will rely on muscle. Instead of reclining seats, a narrow rowing boat. And instead of arriving by sunset, their journey could take nearly two months.

This spring, four adventurers plan to row roughly 3,100 miles across the Pacific Ocean from Washington State to Maui, a human-powered voyage that sounds like something from the age of explorers. What struck me when I first read about the team was how unlikely the group seems on paper. They met through social media, a modern twist that eventually turned into a real-world mission. Their backgrounds span military service, endurance sports, and firefighting. The common thread is a willingness to attempt something that most of us would only imagine from the safety of a beach chair.

The journey itself will be powered entirely by rowing. No sails. No engine. Just four people working around the clock in shifts to keep the boat moving across one of the largest bodies of water on Earth.

Ocean rowers typically operate in two-hour or three-hour shifts, rowing day and night to keep the boat moving forward. That means someone is always pulling the oars while another person navigates, repairs equipment, or attempts to sleep in a cramped cabin barely large enough to stretch out.

The weather is the biggest unknown. The Pacific can shift from calm swells to aggressive storms with little warning. Waves, shifting currents, and relentless sun become daily companions. Even experienced rowers must constantly adjust their route to avoid dangerous conditions.

Historically, these crossings are rare. The route from North America to Hawaii is considered one of the great endurance challenges in ocean rowing. Only a relatively small number of crews have successfully completed the journey. The average crossing time for similar routes is about 62 days, though times can vary widely depending on weather and crew strength.

Former Maui firefighter Joshua Dukes, one of the rowers, explained to Hawaii News the deeper purpose behind the mission: “If we can inspire even one person to believe they can overcome something difficult in their life, then every mile we row will be worth it.” Dukes has spoken about drawing inspiration from his son’s fight with cancer. For him, the voyage is not simply about endurance or adventure. It represents resilience and the belief that perseverance can carry people through even the longest journeys.

Cramer got his base all fired up when he shared a post on X at the start of April. It was a quote tweet of a video of Elizabeth Warrenspeaking with Dan Adcock of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, in which she asked him why the U.S. government wasn't working to fix the program, given that it is so close to going bust.

"Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos shouldn't be paying the same amount in Social Security tax as someone making $175,000 a year," she captioned the clip. "Billionaires are not paying their fair share."

Cramer jumped into the fray by adding his own note when he shared the post, seeming to agree with her as he wrote, "Nor should I. This is a very good idea even as it contravenes the way the law envisioned..."

"Actually, the real fix is to stop the government from tapping into our funds," one person wrote. "If the money were invested like a 401(k), we wouldn’t need to tax anyone more. The issue isn’t lack of funding, it is stewardship. The government is stealing your money."

"Jim, at the bottom of your tax return, it allows you to submit additional money," another person wrote. "Also, the trusts and other tax avoidance plays you set up to avoid taxes are something you could remove if you’d like to pay more taxes…"

Meanwhile, others felt that individuals should get to decide how their portion of their Social Security payments was invested, giving them the chance to opt for high return investments when they are younger in order to secure a bigger payday once they reach retirement age.

While a lot of interesting ideas were exchanged in the post's comments, it's clear that people are still wildly divided on this topic, and there doesn't seem to be a clear frontrunner in the race to determine how to fix Social Security as of yet. Hopefully, they can come up with a plan soon, because each year we get closer to the 2032 deadline, the less time we have to come up with one to keep Social Security afloat.

Riccie Johnson was an iconic makeup artist who spent over half a century working for 60 Minutes. She was also the one who helped The Beatles get camera-ready before their first televised appearance in the US on The Ed Sullivan Show, which was seen by over 73 million viewers.

When speaking about her interaction with The Beatles in a 2016 interview, she told Mo Rocca, “I heard all this din outside. I looked out the window and saw all these young people. And I talked to the doorman. And he said, ‘Oh, some group from England.’ I said, ‘Wow. This looks serious!’ So I called home and said to my husband, ‘I can get the children in to a dress rehearsal.’ The children didn’t want to come. So of course, now they’re very sorry about that!”

Johnson also revealed that, years later, she ran into Paul McCartney in a CBS hallway and he remembered her. He said, “You used pancake makeup and eyeliner, and when we asked you about the eyeliner, you said, ‘It’ll be fine.’”

Johnson first started working in makeup in 1950 when she was hired by NBC. She ended up getting hired to work on 60 Minutes when it first started airing in September 1968. “Through the decades, she touched up the likes of Dan Rather, Morley Safer, Roger Mudd, Ed Bradley, Bob Simon, Leslie Stahl, Anderson Cooper, Lara Logan, Steve Kroft and Scott Pelley,” The Hollywood Reporter stated. She also worked with stars like Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Bill Clinton, Richard Nixon, and Walter Cronkite.

When speaking with Makeup Artist Magazine, Johnson revealed how honored she was to work with such big names. “When you’re working—like when I made up The Beatles—I had no idea they would be so big. I just knew there were a lot of screaming kids out on the street, and there was talk about how important the group would be in the music world. But who knew how big they were going to be? And that’s the same with everything that I’ve done."

She continued, "Of course, if you make up a president, he’s a president. But a lot of things that you do … Your Show of Shows, did we know that was going to be such history? Did we know 60 Minutes was going to last all these years? It’s just wonderful because [I’ve made so many] professional friends. I feel very honored to be able to say that I worked with them … and to have them acknowledge me.”

Johnson passed away on January 3, at the age of 101. She has 7 children, 14 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

While Survivor 50 has been officially branded "In the Hands of the Fans," ever since December, we've known that some particularly famous fans have more of their hands in the process than others. Now we have confirmation of the next star who is going to have their fingerprints on Survivor 50: Jimmy Fallon.

The Tonight Show host's involvement in the season was confirmed back when the trailer first debuted, as Christian Hubicki vaguely says, "Jimmy Fallon may decide my fate in this game." And, after months of speculation, the SNL alum spoke out about his role while sitting down with Abbott Elementary star Quinta Brunson.

"I find out we have more and more things in common every time you come on the show," he tells the Emmy winner during her Monday night appearance on his show. "I know that we're both fans of the show Survivor."

"I love Survivor," she affirms. "I love it."

"I'm going to be on it Wednesday!" he states.

"That's really cool. I'm not jealous," she clearly downplays.

He then explains, "Jeff Probst was on the show. I always pitch him ideas. He ignores them. They're terrible ideas. He gave me his number."

"I wish I had his phone number," Brunson replies.

"I'll give it to you," he affirms. "The whole audience will get Jeff Probst's phone number on the way out."

He then continues, "So I go, 'I gotta be part of this ['In the Hands of the Fans'] thing.' The producers are geniuses over there. They send me these ideas, I go, 'Yep.' So I'm part of an advantage."

While assumed previously, this confirms that, unlike Brown and upcoming guest MrBeast, Fallon will not be making an on-island appearance. Instead, like Eilish, the role he'll play is in abstentia, instead putting his name behind an advantage being introduced into the game. While Fallon was mum about what exactly that advantage is, the press release for this week's Survivor episode makes mention of a journey, and that, upon returning to the camp, the person who participates "must read aloud an important announcement regarding their recent adventure." Perhaps his twist involves yet another scramble through the jungle, in the hopes of not letting your game get dictated by the man behind Taxi and Fever Pitch?

Some fans may not know, however, that this is not the first time a facet of the game will be determined by Jimmy Fallon. Back in Island of the Idols, Survivor's 39th season, the titular twist involved legendary players Boston Rob Mariano and Sandra Diaz-Twine living on a separate island, occasionally teaching select castaways tips and tricks to hopefully take home the win. Part of their duties involved observing Tribal Councils, which they did from a secret box on the set. When Parade got the chance to go out onto set for Island of the Idols, Probst revealed that the idea surprisingly came from the Emmy and Grammy winner.

"The idea to bring them into Tribal Council actually came from an idea that Jimmy Fallon had about two or three years ago," Probst said at the time. "He said, 'You should have a secret viewing booth where somebody can listen to Tribal, but not have anyone know they're there.' We couldn't figure out how to make it work, but we knew it was a super cool idea. Then when we had this idea, and it started gaining momentum, we said, 'That's what we do. We also let them watch, but nobody knows they're there.' It's the Jimmy Fallon Secret Viewing Booth."

Due to his role in the episode's events, Fallon also teases to Brunson that he had seen an advanced screening of what happens this week. While he remains mum on the details, he was positively giddy as he forecasts, "Something goes down. It's gonna be nuts!" We shall see what that entails exactly, and whether Fallon's new advantage will keep these players' heads spinning more than a Wheel of Celebrity Impressions.

A major shift from one of heavy metal’s most recognizable bands is making noise and not just through music. Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton has broken his silence on the group’s decision to change its iconic logo for the first time in nearly three decades, addressing both fan backlash and the band’s creative direction.

In a recent radio interview, Morton made it clear the controversy surrounding the new design doesn’t bother him; in fact, he welcomes it. 

“Such a controversy around the logo… I love it,” he said, reacting to the strong opinions sparked by the band’s updated look on their latest album, Into Oblivion.

The album, released March 13, marks a new chapter for the Virginia-based metal group, known for its powerful blend of groove metal and thrash. While the music has been praised, the redesigned logo, cleaner and more minimal than the original, has divided longtime fans.

Morton explained the decision was rooted in evolution, not rejection of the past. 

“The old logo was, it's not gone,” he said. “It's on every t-shirt that fans are still wearing when they come to our shows. It's not like we buried it.”

Instead, the band wanted something that matched the energy of their new record. 

“It just felt a little dated,” Morton added. “And we feel really fresh about this record and we were just, like, ‘Let’s do something aesthetically, something graphically that feels unique for this project.’”

Frontman Randy Blythe previously echoed the need for change, offering a candid take on the original design. 

“Well, our logo, to be perfectly honest, needed changing,” Blythe said earlier this year. “It’s the papyrus font… had we known 20-however many years ago that we would wind up looking like a falafel restaurant menu, we wouldn’t have used that.”

Beyond the logo, Into Oblivion reflects a renewed creative spark for the band. Produced by longtime collaborator Josh Wilbur, the album was recorded across meaningful locations tied to the group’s history, drums in Richmond, guitars and bass at Morton’s home studio and vocals in California.

The project also connects to the band’s legacy. Over the past year, Lamb of God celebrated 25 years of music, performed at major festivals, and honored their roots with special live shows. They even released a powerful cover of a classic song by Black Sabbath, showing respect to the genre’s pioneers.

Now, with a fresh album and a new look, the band appears focused on moving forward while still honoring its past.

As the band continues its North American tour, one thing is clear: whether fans love or hate the new logo, they’re still paying attention and that might be exactly the point.

There’s a total of five main books in the series. Then there are a few novellas thrown in between, even bringing us the story of Maxon’s parents to see how they met. Is it possible that Maxon’s mom never had dreams of becoming the queen?

Bear Grylls has parachuted into the Appalachian wilderness, rappelled off cliffs in Yosemite National Park and cooked a wild snake for dinner in the Utah desert. But his greatest adventure is the one he’s on with his wife of more than 26 years, Shara Grylls.

Now he’s premiering the ninth season of his celebrity survival series, Bear Grylls Is Running Wild, which debuts April 21 on Fox, and the couple is still going strong.

Through it all, he’s said, “I prioritize marriage first. There’s been many things over the years where, you know, I’ve wanted to do something or she’s wanted to, and one of us said, ‘No’. And I always honor that.”

“If she said ‘enough’s enough’ in terms of my TV career, I’d honor that too,” he added, “because it’s no good being successful in life if it’s screwing up your home life.”

Grylls is married to Shara Grylls (née Cannings Knight) for more than two-and-a-half decades. Unlike her adrenaline-junkie husband, Shara keeps a lower profile as a writer, philanthropist and proverbial CEO of their home life.

The British adventurer shared a sweet message to his wife on Valentine’s Day 2026, writing on Instagram, “Thank you Shara for being beside me always - being tolerant with my many quirks and dubious hygiene. I love you.”

Shara is an author and philanthropist. She’s written two books on marriage—Marriage Matters (2006) and Never Stop Holding Hands (2012)—both of which compile advice from friends and family on how to have a successful partnership. (The insights were originally gathered for her wedding.) 

When asked how she and her husband have weathered tough times, she told Woman Alive it's through constant “communication.” 

“We spend a lot of time apart,” she added. “In the early days it was much harder—satellite phones, very little contact. But now we talk all the time. We make decisions on the phone or on WhatsApp.”

As for what advice she’d give newlyweds, she offered, “It’s not all a picnic. You have to work at it. You have to be kind. You have to be patient. Don’t be afraid to lean on each other.”

Grylls and Shara met in 1998 on a beach in Scotand, in the middle of a skinny-dipping mishap. “It was freezing on the north coast of Scotland, and a wave came and took my clothes," Grylls recalled in an interview with Piers Morgan. "I was running around naked, trying to find my trousers."

At the time, Grylls was just months away from climbing Mount Everest, a feat that would take him three-and-a-half months to complete—but regardless, the pair made it work.  

“I knew as soon as I met him [that he was the one],” Shara said. “I think my parents knew as well. We got married in January 2000, and my father died at the end of that year. Bear’s father died a couple of months after that. It was really wonderful to have each other. Looking back, the timing was just so right—it really does feel like it was meant to be.”

Grylls and his wife were 23 when they met and 25 when they tied the knot.

“We got married so young but it was the best thing I ever did,” Grylls wrote on Instagram, marking their 25-year anniversary in 2025. “Shara, you are still the kindest, true woman I know. Thank you for being such a light for all of us in the family.”

The couple tied the knot on Jan. 15, 2000, two years after they met.

As of January 2026, Grylls and his wife have been married for 26 years.

“I don’t think marriage is about perfection,” Grylls shared on their most recent anniversary. “To us it’s about commitment. Showing up when it’s hard. Laughing when plans fall apart. Holding steady when the world pulls you in a hundred directions.”

“Strength doesn’t start in the mountains or the wild. It starts at home. With family. With loyalty. With love that’s patient,” he continued. 

“I’ve learnt that the greatest expeditions are not the ones you see on screen, but the quiet, daily ones: building a life together, raising a family, backing each other through every high and low.”

Yes, they share three sons: Jesse (born June 2003), Marmaduke (born April 2006) and Huckleberry (born January 2009). While the boys share their father’s passion for the outdoors, they haven’t pursued careers in adventure, at least not yet. Jesse is an artist, Marmaduke works in hospitality and travel and Huckleberry is a rising tennis player.

Commenting on her younger sons’ unusual names, Shara shared, “Well, I just think, when you’re called Bear and Shara, you’re not going to have children called John and Ian! You’re just not. I do feel a bit sorry for them sometimes, actually. Bear posted Marmaduke on Instagram [recently], and literally the comments were like: ‘Poor child.’ And then people were replying: ‘Have you heard the other ones?’”

Quirky names aside, it seems more important to note that the kids were raised by parents who loved them.

“Life and work can be hard to balance, but looking back I’ve never regretted putting my family first,” Grylls has said. “Even the times someone told me I could be ‘X’ times more successful, or achieve more of this or that, it is a false economy to trade the quality of our relationships with family for just ‘stuff’ or ‘tins and pots.’”

From teen idol to zaddy. Actor Joey Lawrence recently announced that he’s now a boy dad (with wife Samantha Cope) in a sweet after-Easter Instagram post. The former Blossom star welcomed son Ford Joseph Lawrence on April 6. But it looks like the newborn isn’t the only Lawrence with an April birthday.

Joey turned the big 50 on April 20 and marked his half-century birthday with a shirtless Instagram post that gives ‘dad bod’ a whole new meaning. The black-and-white pics…well, have fans screaming, “Whoa!”

Lawrence captioned the carousel, which starts with a hunky runway shot, “Walking my way into 50.” Friends, fans, and even some family members are obsessed with the post—and for a very obvious reason. The Melissa & Joey star’s wife even commented, writing, “Well hello,” to which one commenter responded, “We were all thinking that.”

His eldest daughter (with ex-wife Chandie Yawn-Nelson), Charleston “Charli” Lawrence, was born in 2006. The family welcomed Charleston’s little sis, Liberty Grace (whom he also shares with his ex), in 2010. Lawrence and Yawn-Nelson split in 2020. In 2023, the couple welcomed their first child together, daughter Dylan Rose Lawrence. Cope filed for divorce in 2024. But she and Lawrence later reconciled. The pair announced the birth of their second child, Ford, earlier this month.

It is a rare feat for a memoirs to capture both personal hardship and historical reality as vividly as Angela's Ashes.

The bestselling book by Frank McCourt has been ranked among the "best books of all time" on Goodreads, based on votes from readers. Its lasting popularity speaks to the emotional depth of its storytelling and the broader history it brings to life.

Published in 1996, Angela's Ashes recounts McCourt's childhood growing up in Limerick, Ireland, during the 1930s and 1940s, a time marked by widespread poverty, limited opportunity and the lingering effects of economic hardship following Irish independence. "I didn't know you could write about yourself. I didn't know. McCourt began writing notes about his mother in a notebook, but by the time he started writing Angela's Ashes, he found he didn't need the notebook at all. "I just started writing, he said."

Angela's Ashes was later adapted into a film of the same name, directed by Alan Parker. The adaptation brought McCourt's story to the screen, visually capturing the stark conditions of his childhood while preserving the emotional core of the memoir.

Not every single book by an author is going to be great. Stephen King is no stranger to deciding that he’s not fond of his past work. In fact, Dreamcatcher helped him recuperate after a car crash, but reading back on his work, he’s not the biggest fan of it.

So, it’s not surprising that there are other works by the horror master that readers don’t enjoy that much. There’s a whole list of “Worst Stephen King Books” on Goodreads, and the users have decided on the “worst” of them all.

Published on May 1, 1992, Gerald’s Game is the novel that readers hate the most. Well, hate is a strong word. They dislike the most. It comes just ahead of Tommyknockers and Cell, with a score of 9,784 from 99 votes on Goodreads.

It does have the lowest score average, with just 3.59 stars out of 5. Tommyknockers is just ahead with 3.61 stars out of 5.

There has been one live adaptation of the release, a 2017 Netflix movie starring Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood and directed by Mike Flanagan. The movie itself has performed better than the book, although it was considered to be “unfilmable” for the longest time.

This is one of those box-style books. The majority of the story takes place in one room, focusing on one woman's need to survive. We get flashbacks and some strange occurrences in the room she's trapped in, but for the most part, it's one person's narrative, and that doesn't always work for fiction.

When Gerald’s Game was originally written, it was going to connect to another King book, Dolores Claiborne. There’s even a mention of her within Gerald’s Game and the connection is the eclipse.

During the process of writing, the book took a life of its own. The connection started to sever, and now it is just a loose one, making it clear that they are supposed to be in the same universe and that’s about it.

For many readers, the novel ended up not being all that scary. This was a story of childhood trauma and abuse mixed in with a tale of survival. There were some scary moments, especially as all the connections were made by the end, but there was nothing quite as horrifying as some of King’s best novels, including It, The Stand, and Misery.

Eminem has a lot to celebrate!

Days after becoming a grandfather for the second time, the beloved rapper celebrated his 18-year sobriety anniversary.

"XVIII🏅" the "Lose Yourself" artist captioned an Instagram announcement on Monday, April 20.

Eminem — real name Marshall Mathers — shared the news alongside a photo of his 18-year Alcoholics Anonymous sobriety coin.

Mathers previously revealed his decision to get sober after a near-fatal overdose in 2007.

“The numbers got so high, I don’t even know what I was taking,” he told VIBE magazine of his 20 Vicodin, Ambien and Valium a day habit. “My doctor told me the amount of methadone I’d taken was equivalent to shooting up four bags of heroin. I probably wouldn’t have taken it. But as bad as I was back then, I can’t even say 100 percent for sure."

After accepting that he had an addiction, the "Without Me" rapper was able to see patterns within his family.

"It never once hit me that drug addiction runs in my family. Now that I understand that I’m an addict, I definitely have compassion for my mother," he said. "I get it."
