'70s Rock Legends Announce New Album 51 Years After Breakthrough Hit 'Dreamboat Annie'

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 4:47pm

More than five decades after Dreamboat Annie introduced Heart to the world, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band is preparing to release its first new studio album in 10 years.

Speaking with Gold Derby, guitarist Nancy Wilson revealed that the album is essentially complete and called it a return to the band's roots.

"I think it's going to be great," Wilson said. "We wrote a bunch of new songs and recorded down in Nashville with the players that we just played the last tour with. It was like a secondhand thing with each other because we've played so many live shows, so the album was pretty much recorded live."

Wilson said the band plans to deliver the album at the end of August before coordinating its release alongside a world tour, a Heart documentary, and a long-awaited feature film about the band's career.

"I'm really happy," she said. "It really feels like a Heart record."

The announcement comes 51 years after Heart released Dreamboat Annie in Canada in 1975. The album, featuring "Magic Man" and "Crazy on You," became the band's breakthrough release, eventually reaching No. 7 on the Billboard 200 after its U.S. release in 1976 and establishing the Wilson sisters as one of rock's defining acts.

The upcoming record will be Heart's first studio album since 2016's Beautiful Broken. Wilson said the long gap has only made the new music feel more meaningful.

"It's all about these songs," she said. "It's what we were born to do, and do together."

Fans may not have to wait much longer for even more Heart news. Wilson also confirmed the band's long-discussed biopic is back on track, a documentary is in the works, and the group is planning a world tour as it prepares for what she hopes will be "Heart world domination" in 2027 and 2028.

The Madden Brothers Controversy Explained: Why The Good Charlotte Rockers Are Facing Backlash

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 4:46pm

Joel and Benji Madden are making headlines this week, but not because of a new Good Charlotte album or anything like that.

The twin brothers have found themselves at the center of a growing controversy after reports surfaced that several longtime music publications were hit with massive layoffs under Veeps, the livestreaming platform they co-founded back in 2017. The news has sparked criticism from music fans, journalists, and even fellow artists, many of whom are questioning what the shakeup means for the future of independent music journalism.

Fans and musicians Are Speaking Out

The reported layoffs affected staff at several respected music outlets, including Alternative Press, BrooklynVegan, Revolver, and Goldmine. Collectively, the four publications have spent decades covering the rock music scene, making the news a total gut-punch for longtime readers.

Social media quickly filled with reactions from disappointed fans.

“It was independent journalism like Alternative Press, Revolver, and Brooklyn Vegan that gave a band like Good Charlotte the lift they needed in the beginning. For [the Madden brothers] to turn around and buy those publications, fire staff, and fold them into their media portfolio like a private equity firm is a giant slap in the face to the scene that had their back,” one user on Threads wrote.

“Good Charlotte just gutted the independent music journalism scene,” another replied.

One Instagram user countered, “They were in business to generate business. Very easy for everyone to blame the Maddens but if the fans aren’t buying and consuming the mags and products they need to close shop like any company.”

“With a 49% share - did the Madden brothers do this?,” another pointed out.

Among the public figures weighing in was Paramore singer Hayley Williams, who appeared to reference the situation in an Instagram Story that read, "every day we lose recipes to dorks who simply cannot cook. Looking forward to the inevitable vengeance of the underground."

View on Threads

Several musicians, including Anthony Green and Evan Weiss, also voiced support for the journalists and staff members affected by the reported cuts.

Who are the Madden Brothers?

Joel and Benji Madden rose to fame as the frontmen of Good Charlotte, the pop-punk band behind early-2000s anthems that still live rent-free in many former emo kids' heads. Beyond music, the brothers expanded into business, co-founding Veeps in 2017 as a ticketed livestream platform before selling a 51% stake to Live Nation in 2021. The pair retained the remaining ownership interest. In recent years, Veeps expanded beyond livestreaming by acquiring a portfolio of music publications, including Alternative Press, BrooklynVegan, Revolver, and Goldmine.

Joel married Nicole Ritchie in 2010, and the couple welcomed two children together, Harlow, 18, and Sparrow, 16. He also famously dated Hilary Dufffrom 2004-2006 and recently reunited with the singer during Duff’s Madison Square Garden performance on August 5. Benji, meanwhile, tied the knot with actress Cameron Diaz in 2015 and shares daughter Raddix, 6, and two sons, Cardinal, 2, and Nautus, 3 months.

As of now, neither the Madden brothers, Veeps nor Live Nation has publicly addressed the reported layoffs.

When life gets busy, it’s easy for the little things to slip away, like drinking water throughout the day. With summer in full swing, it’s important to constantly rehydrate to help regulate your body temperature and replace fluids you lose while sweating. Keeping a bottle by your side is an easy way to remember to take a break and drink some water. If you prefer something reusable over one-and-done plastic bottles, this Dolly Parton Tumbler at Amazon is a fabulous choice.

Whether you’re a fan of the country music icon or simply want to reduce your environmental footprint, this tumbler is a stylish way to stay hydrated. Right now, you can score it on sale for a limited time at Amazon. This insulated tumbler normally retails between $22 and $27, but it’s now marked down to either $18 or $20 in three styles. It’s also available in one additional design at full price for $31.

Available in four styles that are very Dolly-esque, this tumbler makes hydration fun. You can choose from a blue or pink tumbler with whimsical text that reads “I beg your Parton,” as well as a blue or pink version with mosaic flower and butterfly motifs. Each tumbler is complete with a Dolly Parton autograph, adorned with her signature butterfly. These designs capture the Southern charm, witty humor, glamor, and vibrant lifestyle that makes the superstar so beloved. Shoppers loved the look of this tumbler, describing it as “super cute.”

The sweltering temperatures are no match for this tumbler. It's double-walled and vacuum-insulated, designed to shield your drinks from the heat and keep them cold for up to 24 hours. However, this tumbler isn’t just limited to cold beverages. Thanks to the insulating technology, it can also keep drinks hot for up to eight hours so you can use it to sip warm beverages like coffee or tea during the colder months.

Ideal for all your hydration needs, this tumbler has a large capacity so you won’t have to keep refilling it. It can hold up to 40 ounces, which is more than two standard water bottles. You can drink from it two different ways — sipping through a straw or the lid's mouthpiece.

Equipped with a carry handle, this tumbler is great for on-the-go use. The slim handle gives you an easy grip so you can bring it along wherever the day takes you. The lid is leakproof and has a safety lock to ensure it remains closed. You should be able to toss it into your purse or backpack without any spills.

Unlike many decorative bottles, this one is made of stainless steel. It’s BPA-free and rust-resistant, giving you peace of mind as you hydrate away. Stainless steel is non-porous, which prevents smells and tastes from lingering. To ensure that the bottle remains in pristine condition, handwashing is recommended. Fortunately, the wide opening makes it easy to reach your hand or a brush inside to clean it without any hassle.

Axl Rose Gets Political With Canadian Audience at Recent Concert - 'We're Being Governmentally Denied'

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 4:15pm

One thing you can guarantee about Guns N' Roses front man Axl Rose is that he's going to be authentic to himself. The star has been on a more frequent tour schedule in the past few years with his iconic '80s rock group behind him, and has been selling out arenas all over the world. The tour has given us some very exciting moments, and let a lot of people relive some of the hard rock glory days of the '80s.

This of course includes a stretch in Canada, where the band had a spot in Toronto. While at the concert, Rose got a bit political with his audience over something that has been a hot topic for most of Donald Trump's term: tariffs.

Of course, it seems a bit off brand for an '80s rock star like Rose to get involved politically, but he had some choice words from his unique perspective on the situation. Rose in between songs voiced his frustration on the policy in such a rockstar way.

@torontoconcertdad

Axl Rose and guns and roses in Toronto talking about the Trump Tariffs. He wants his Canadian booze! #gunsnroses #gnr #axlrose #trump #tariffs

♬ original sound - Toronto Concert Dad

"Dealing with this whole f***ed up tariff bulls**t...I want my Canadian booze. We're being governmentally denied," Rose spoke on the tariffs, which have had a huge impact on both sides of the border. Fans in attendance were clearly in agreement with Rose, as they applauded the statement heavily.

Fans took to the comments to share their agreement with Axl's words, and voice their own opinions on the current situation.

"Love Axl."

"Even he gets it."

"I’m buying tickets."

Rose's outrage is shared by many in his fanbase. The bottom line is that he's going to make it known if you get in his way, which is something we all can love and appreciate. Hopefully this tour continues to excite and reignite the love the world has for this band.

‘All My Children’ Lifetime Movie Reaches Huge Milestone Behind the Scenes

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 4:05pm

The positive All My Children news continues to roll in as Daytime Emmy-winning scribe Jamey Giddens has taken to social media to give fans an update on the status of the upcoming All My Children continuation movie he and Ron Carlivati have penned for Lifetime.

Giddens, who recently was announced as co-headwriter of The Young and the Restless with former General Hospital headwriter Dan O’Connor, was asked on X how he was going to balance his workload at The Young and the Restless with working on the All My Children return.

The writer revealed that the film script is completely ready to go. “We turned in our All My Children script months ago,” he shared. Giddens went on to share that his “sole focus as of this past Monday is Genoa City, Wisconsin! 😉 #YR.”

— Jamey_Giddens (@Jamey_Giddens) August 6, 2026

The All My Children revival movies were first revealed by TVLine’s Michael Ausiello back in September of 2024. A representative for Lifetime at the time confirmed that there were two movies in development, with one being holiday-themed.

Since then, very little information has been publicly revealed. When Daytime Confidential broke the news that Giddens and Carlivati were penning the films, they suggested that viewers would see Erica Kane (Susan Lucci), Dr. Maria Santos (Eva LaRue), Haley Vaughan-Santos (Kelly Ripa), and Mateo Santos (Mark Consuelos).

The All My Children return is being spearheaded by Ripa and Consuelos, and is their second attempt to bring the beloved series back to life. Previously, the couple developed Pine Valley, a primetime reimagining of the beloved series with a mysterious ‘Riverdale’-like twist.

Following the series' initial cancellation in 2011, the show found a brief revival in 2013 as production company Prospect Park revived the series for streaming, and the series returned for slightly over 40 episodes broadcast on Hulu.

Production on the film series has been described to the Los Angeles Times as being in the early stages of development. However, now that the script has been completed, viewers eagerly await news of casting and the start of filming.

Valerie Bertinelli's Racy 1979 Throwback Photo Has Fans Doing a Double Take

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 4:03pm

On August 6, Valerie Bertinelli did something many of us have done: discovered some old photos of herself while cleaning her house. Bertinelli estimated her age at 19 in the sexy negatives, exactly two years before marrying Eddie Van Halen and twelve years before she became a mom to Wolfgang Van Halen.

"I had totally forgotten that I had them, which is why we probably haven’t seen them in print anywhere. Now I don’t know what to do with them," she captioned the Instagram post.

In the pictures, a teenage Bertinelli is shown wearing a black leotard and heels, as she straddles a chair. Her hair is styled in a voluminous "feathered" cut made popular by Charlie's Angels star Farrah Fawcett. She asked her followers if she should "toss or save" them, and the nearly 300 responses hopefully convinced the correspondent for The Drew Barrymore Show that these are definitely photos she should hang on to.

View this post on Instagram Fans Weigh In

"AH-mazing!!" One person commented. " Giving me Flashdance vibes!!🫰🏼🔥🔥🔥."

"Scan them in and save them because it’s easy to do and takes up very little space," wrote another. "To me, this picture says a lot about the time that you (and I) grew up. You were a teenager and playing a teenager I believe at the time, but this is a very sophisticated, sexy pose."

A New Home on 'Undeveloped'

While several people also offered to kindly take them off her hands if she couldn't decide what to do with them, Bertinelli hinted that they may turn up in the future: on her website.

"My brother @davidpbertinelli and I have a new show called Undeveloped, premiering today @itsvaleriesplace ❤️ Maybe I should get him to do something with them?" she suggested.

Undeveloped, which Bertinelli described as a show that "is filled with family memories, heartfelt moments, and stories never shared before," is available to Preferred Members on her It's Valerie's Place platform. Fans will have to wait to see whether Bertinelli's decades-old photo makes its way into an episode.

IKEA Heard Your ‘Wicker’ Jokes and Turned Alexander Skarsgård’s Internet Thirst Into a Clever Ad

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 4:01pm

The internet's obsession with Alexander Skarsgård (Murderbot) starring in Wicker as its leading man, magically made out of, well...the pliable wood material to suit his wife, played by Olivia Coleman (The Bear), continues to intensify.

Naturally, the Wicker trailer, which features Skarsgård in all his Wicker husband glory, has caused a stir. Somehow, even made out of sentient outdoor furniture, Skarsgård is still very much a walking thirst trap. And we have Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), who plays the film's basket weaver, and the incredible work of the Wētā Workshop, which built the finely detailed practical suit, to thank.

Related: IKEA Is Selling a Sleek New Cart That Fits Into the Narrowest of Spaces for Extra Storage

The online frenzy has brought out the most unhinged reactions, especially if you glance at the comments on YouTube. One reads: "50 Shades of Pinocchio," and another: "I love that Peter Dinklage's character is asked to make a Cottagecore Frankenstein and immediately says '"'say less". And there are so many more which might scandalize, along the lines of: "They took 'smash a tree' to a whole different level!!!!!" but of course inevitably IKEA got dragged into it.

Will be a missed opportunity if IKEA doesn't release a spring '27 indoor/outdoor wicker chair called the SKARSGÅRD.

— Rod Blackhurst (@rodblackhurst) August 3, 2026

So of course, to plant itself in firm solidarity with their fellow Swede icon, IKEA released an ad for their TOLKNING handmade rattan bench ready to be sat on with the words “made from husband material” and a clever caption that read: “if you know, you know." Black Bear Pictures, the indie studio behind the film, reshared the post below:

View this post on Instagram

What a moment to really lean into for the brand, as fans express their delight at IKEA being game to join the Wicker fun. Now we really do fully expect some collaboration or even Skarsgård to rate the wicker furniture at the popular living space destination to the tune of Taylor Swift's "Wood".

Wicker is set for release on October 23, 2026. To see Skarsgård flex his fibers and understand why the internet is in a tizzy, you need to watch the trailer:

Country Star Speaks Out About His Relationship with Beyoncé After 'Cowboy Carter'

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 4:01pm

Shaboozey is proud to call Beyoncé a friend.

The country artist became a household name after being featured on Beyoncé's 2024 country album, Cowboy Carter. He sang on the tracks "Sweet Honey Buckiin" and "SPAGHETTII." He spoke to GQ about his relationship with the music legend in a recent interview.

“I honestly consider her a really good friend at this point. Anytime there’s anything going on, she’s always sending congratulations, posting me on the page, always celebrating my accomplishments,” he said. “We need that.”

The pair have stayed in contact since working with each other two years ago. The 31-year-old singer shared how supportive Beyoncé has been of him.

"This is random, but I was in an Uber the other day, and they were just talking about, 'Man, we need to celebrate each other a lot more,'" he reflected. "She's really someone who does that every step of the way."

Shaboozey told GQ about other creatives who influenced his career.

"I was inspired by a lot of other human beings that did a lot of really cool, amazing things that obviously went into my work," he said. "GeorgeLucas, seeing Star Wars as a kid and thinking, 'Wow, one person created this.' Growing up listening to Nelly and the St. Lunatics and just feeling like, 'Man, I want it.' This is just stuff that I'm just super inspired by."

These icons gave the "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" singer permission to discover what he could make.

"I was always creative. There was just no limit to what I felt like I could do with my imagination. I always wanted to exercise that to the fullest," Shaboozey said. "If that drew me to making a concept album, like The Outlaw Cherie Lee, or if that drew me to make a film about the DC punk scene from '79 to '85, it's just having ideas and continuing to push them until they were done."

This Whimsical Butterfly Accent Lamp Looks Like a Rare Antique Shop Find at a Fraction of the Price

Parade and ShopHQ are both owned by the same parent company. Featured products are selected independently by the editorial team at Parade.

When it comes to home decor, I've often struggled to find the right balance of modern convenience and classic style. My personal tastes lean very much in the direction of cozy antiques, but so many pieces I love lack actual functionality. Think rickety mid-century end tables that could collapse at any given moment, heirloom linens bound to disintegrate if I dare wash them, and vintage lamps with wiring so ancient it's most definitely a fire hazard. Naturally, these antique shop finds are also quite pricey, putting many of the pieces I'd love to add to my home way out of budget.

As a shopping expert, one hidden gem of a retailer I've found offering an array of affordable home decor with a vintage feel is ShopHQ. It's the first place I look when I'm shopping for something like antique-inspired lighting, but don't want the hassle of wonky wiring or the struggle of sifting through an estate sale. One piece currently on my radar is the Tiffany-Style Stained Glass Flying Butterfly Accent Lamp. Not only is it absolutely stunning, but it's currently marked down to $60 from the usual $70, making it an unusually affordable find for lighting of this caliber.

This charming lamp features a stunning stained glass shade crafted from 68 meticulously cut glass pieces. Its vibrant butterfly wings feature a gorgeous, multi-colored palette of blue, orange, white, and red hues, resting elegantly atop an antiqued bronze-colored polyresin base with intricate, rose-like floral detailing.

Measuring 9 inches tall, 7 inches long, and 5.5 inches wide, it's perfectly sized to display on a nightstand, side table, bookshelf, or entryway console. A convenient 66-inch cord featuring an in-line on/off switch makes it easy to add elegant lighting anywhere around your home. When illuminated with a 25-watt bulb (not included), this lamp's colorful glass shade casts a warm, multi-directional glow that instantly transforms a room's ambiance.

1967 Rock Song, With 21-Year-Old Singer of The Monkees, Is Still a Powerful Hit 59 Years Later

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 2:57pm

By the spring of 1967, The Monkees had become one of the biggest musical acts in the world.

Fresh off a string of chart-topping singles, the television stars returned with "A Little Bit Me, a Little Bit You," a catchy pop-rock tune featuring Davy Jones, who was just 21 years old when the single was released on March 8, 1967. Nearly 60 years later, the song remains one of the group’s defining recordings.

The track also boasted an impressive pedigree.

Written by Neil Diamond, "A Little Bit Me, a Little Bit You" combined his knack for memorable melodies with The Monkees' unmistakable vocal harmonies.

"I was a songwriter, first and foremost," Diamond told Guitar Player in 2026. "I kind of reluctantly became a recording artist, you know? I wanted to write songs and have other people record them … but nobody would record my stuff, so I had to sing the songs myself."

The The Monkees were among the artists who changed that. Jones took the lead vocal, bringing warmth and charm to the song's tale of a relationship built on compromise and understanding.

Listeners embraced it immediately.

The single climbed to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming another major success during The Monkees' remarkable run of hits. It also reached the Top 5 in several international markets, reinforcing the band's status as one of the biggest pop phenomena of the decade.

The song arrived during a pivotal period for the group.

As The Monkees continued to evolve beyond their television origins, songs like "A Little Bit Me, a Little Bit You" demonstrated their growing musical identity. Although the band was still navigating creative tensions over artistic control, the single showcased the polished pop sound that had captivated millions of fans around the world.

"I was just reading Tiger BeatPresents'Micky Dolenz' book, which is a gas, and Micky really said something that struck me," Jones said in a 1968 interview. 'It's no picnic being a Monkee… it's hard and it's a grind… but it's worth it.' That’s the way I feel too. As long as the finished product looks good, then all our work is worth it."

Its appeal has endured across generations.

The song remains a staple of oldies radio and Monkees greatest-hits collections, while Jones' heartfelt vocal performance continues to be celebrated as one of the finest of his career. It also stands as one of several successful collaborations between Neil Diamond and The Monkees, whose partnership produced some of the era's most memorable pop recordings.

"If you want to have longevity, you've got to have the attitude and desire," Jones said in a 2011 interivew. "It doesn't matter whether you're playing at the Holiday Inn, or you're playing at the Ritz. As long as you feel good about what you do, that's who you are."

Fifty-nine years after its release, "A Little Bit Me, a Little Bit You" continues to charm listeners with its irresistible melody and timeless message. Featuring a 21 year-old Davy Jones at the microphone, the 1967 classic remains one of The Monkees' most beloved and enduring hits.

Treadmill Company Ordered to Pay Nearly $17 Million Over Major Safety Violations

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 2:55pm

Johnson Health Tech Trading (JHTT) Inc. is paying up after having issues with its treadmill sold at Dick’s Sporting Goods, Johnson Fitness & Wellness, HorizonFitness.com, and Amazon.com.

The company has agreed to pay a $16.875 million civil penalty according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

CPSC claimed the corporation broke the law after knowingly choosing not to immediately report its Horizon T101-05 treadmills. The product had a defect that could cause an unreasonable risk of serious injury or death to consumers. The agency has provisionally accepted the settlement.

Between March 2018 and October 2022, JHTT was made aware of at least 874 reports that their treadmills were unexpectedly accelerating, stopping, or changing speed. They also received at least 71 reports that resulted in injury.

The fitness manufacturer changed the production of the product in an attempt to resolve the fall hazard in February 2021 and September 2021. The CPSC claims customers continued to have issues with the treadmills, and JHTT did not immediately inform the Commission.

JHTT and CPSC announced that the Horizon T101-05 treadmills were recalled on October 27, 2022. The announcement stated that the product “can unexpectedly accelerate, change speed, or stop without user input, posing a fall hazard.” It shared that around 192,000 treadmills could be impacted.

The settlement also states JHTT and its affiliated company, Johnson Health Tech North America, Inc., must follow procedures that ensure they comply with the Consumer Product Safety Act (CPSA). These include the addition of a product safety professional who maintains compliance with the Act, and the companies must submit an annual report outlining this program and internal procedures for three years.

Iconic Hollywood Bombshell Who Performed With Dean Martin Dies at 93

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 2:52pm

Abbe Lane, the iconic Hollywood singer and actress, has died at the age of 93, according to her son.

The bombshell, once called the "Swingingest Sexpot in Show Business," died of natural causes in Los Angeles on April 25, 2026. Her son, Steven Leff, shared the sad news with The Hollywood Reporter, four months after her passing.

Abbe Lane (full name: Abigail Francine Lassman) was born in Brooklyn and began her career as a child star on radio before making her Broadway debut as a teenager. However, she really made a splash in Europe and starred in nearly two dozen Italian movies. Lane also appeared in several American TV programs such as The Dean Martin Show, The Brady Bunch, and The Flying Nun.

In 1952, she married Cuban bandleader Xavier Cugat at the age of 16 (he was 49 years old at the time). Lane, who spoke four languages, fronted his Latin music orchestra until their divorce in 1964. She went on to remarry theatrical agent Perry Leff shortly after, and the couple had two sons, Steven and Andrew. Perry died in 2020.

Along with her work on-screen, Lane also made headlines for her suggestive comments about fellow Hollywood actresses, including her now iconic, "Jayne Mansfield may turn boys into men, but I take them from there."

In 1960, Lane received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contribution to television.

Later in life, Lane wrote the semi-autobiographical novel But Where Is Love?, where she finally opened up about her troubled marriage to Cugat.

"Emotionally, I felt I wasn't ready to go back into my past and relive everything," she told The Orlando Sentinel in 1993. "I felt that I could sit back and view my characters with greater objectivity and emotional detachment if I wrote it as a novel. I felt the story could stand up... without there being the two protagonists of Cugat and Abbe Lane."

Along with her two sons, Lane is survived by her granddaughter, Kaia.

1980 Olivia Newton-John Hit Began Four-Week Reign at No. 1 46 Years Ago Today

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 2:51pm

Forty-six years ago today, Olivia Newton-John's "Magic" began a four-week reign atop the Billboard Hot 100, cementing its place as one of the biggest pop hits of 1980.

Released in May 1980 as the lead single from the Xanadu soundtrack, "Magic" reached No. 1 during the first week of August in 1980, where it remained for four consecutive weeks before being replaced by the Christopher Cross hit "Sailing."

Written and produced by Newton-John's longtime collaborator John Farrar, the dreamy pop ballad became one of the defining songs of her career. Along with topping the Hot 100, it spent five weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart, making it the biggest Adult Contemporary hit of Newton-John's career. It also reached No. 1 on the Cash Box Top 100 and topped Canada's RPM singles chart.

By the end of the year, Billboard ranked "Magic" as the No. 3 song of 1980, trailing only Blondie's "Call Me" and Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall (Part II)."

A Hit That Outshined Its Movie

When Xanadu arrived in theaters in August 1980, it paired Newton-John with Hollywood legend Gene Kelly in a colorful musical fantasy featuring songs by Newton-John and Electric Light Orchestra.

Although the film received mixed-to-negative reviews and underperformed at the box office, its soundtrack became a major commercial success.

Years later, Newton-John looked back on the experience with characteristic optimism, calling it a "character-building" bomb in music historian Fred Bronson's"The Billboard Book of Number One Hits."

"I don't regret it or anything I've done. I learned a lot and the music was successful. I would have been upset if the music flopped," said the superstar.

The soundtrack ultimately produced five Top 20 Billboard hits, including "Magic," "Xanadu" with Electric Light Orchestra, "Suddenly" with Cliff Richard, ELO's "I'm Alive" and "All Over the World."

One of Olivia Newton-John's Biggest Career Hits

Coming just two years after the worldwide success of Grease, "Magic" proved Newton-John's remarkable chart dominance was far from over.

Its lush production, soaring melody and effortless vocal performance helped make it one of the defining songs of 1980, while Farrar's polished songwriting perfectly complemented Newton-John's unmistakable voice.

More than four decades later, "Magic" remains one of the signature recordings of Newton-John's career, and its four-week run at No. 1 stands as another reminder of just how dominant she was on the pop charts at the dawn of the 1980s.

Newton-John died in August 2022 at the age of 73 after a long battle with breast cancer, but songs like "Magic" continue to introduce new generations of listeners to one of pop music's most enduring voices.

This David Fincher-Directed Film Was Just Named the Most Perfect Thriller Since 2000

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 2:44pm

Fans of the thriller genre have countless well-crafted, suspenseful films to choose from for a relaxing (or not so relaxing) night in. Collider recently released a ranking that thriller enthusiasts who need new recommendations will likely appreciate.

The list, titled "the 6 most perfect thrillers released since 2000," included titles like 2014's Nightcrawler, Gone Girl, also released in 2014, and 2007's No Country for Old Men. According to Collider, the top thriller movie of the last 26 years is the David Fincher-directed 2007 film Zodiac, inspired by the Northern California-based Zodiac Killer's murders and the crimes' aftermath.

While recording commentary for the movie's DVD, Fincher shared that certain aspects of his life as a young boy in the late '60s, when the Zodiac Killer's crimes were committed, made their way into Zodiac. He explained he has a memory of listening to the 1969 song "Easy to Be Hard" by Three Dog Night when he became aware that there was a serial killer in San Francisco.

"There's so many things that are kind of oddly personal in this, more kind of psychedelic San Francisco kind of music, and finally we got to the Three Dog Night [song]. It was odd because I was in second or third grade when this whole thing happened. And I remember so vividly driving through Sonoma from Vallejo, it's an area known as Black Point. And I remember being in the back of my parents' '65 Impala. And the windows were rolled down. It was the beginning of summer, and you could smell eucalyptus. And this song was playing on the radio," said the director.

In addition, he noted that the film focuses on the infamous letters from the serial killer, whose identity has still not been discovered, rather than the grisly nature of the crimes.

"The Zodiac letters to me were kind of the most important hook in the movie, they were certainly the biggest hook for me as a kid. The notion that somebody was offering you an insight into their kind of psychological makeup, and there's something about the graphic nature of his writing and the way that his moniker and his brand, there's something really fascinating about that," said Fincher in the DVD commentary.

Fincher also shared that he believes Zodiac, which follows members of the San Francisco Chronicle, is "a newspaper story" rather than "a serial killer movie."

"And that gradually becomes a story about justice or the obsession with justice," explained Fincher.

Zodiac, written by James Vanderbilt, holds a score of 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and 79 on Metacritic.

Shania Twain's Rarely Seen Son Resurfaces in New Studio Video

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 2:43pm

Shania Twain fans got something they rarely see this week, namely, a real glimpse of her son. The country icon shared a series of behind-the-scenes clips from the making of her new album, "Little Miss Twain," and tucked among the studio footage was a rare video of her 24-year-old son, Eja Lange, working at a laptop.

Twain shares Eja with her first husband, producer Robert "Mutt" Lange, whom she was married to from 1993 to 2010. Unlike his famous mother, Eja has kept a low profile for most of his adult life, and even his own Instagram page focuses almost entirely on his music rather than his personal life. The new footage, posted as part of a carousel celebrating the album's release, marked one of the few times fans have seen him as an adult.

The clip is more than a passing cameo. Eja, now a music producer in his own right, actually helped work on the new record, continuing a creative partnership that began years earlier. Their first credited collaboration came in 2023, when Eja contributed to the track "Number One" from Twain's album "Queen of Me." At the time, Twain kept his involvement a surprise, later explaining she didn't want to build up his expectations before the song was finished.

Twain has described "Little Miss Twain," which arrived July 24, as her most personal project yet, built around reflections on her childhood and the people who shaped who she became. In her caption accompanying the studio clips, she thanked the collaborators, friends and family who helped bring the record to life, singling out her son for a specific note of appreciation. She's previously said similar things about their working relationship, telling interviewers in years past that the two send each other ideas and occasionally end up in the studio together.

What a treat for longtime fans, as Twain hasn't offered much about her son beyond the occasional childhood throwback photo. This latest glimpse, arriving alongside her most autobiographical album to date, offers a small window into a powerful mother-son musical relationship.

I'm currently using it as a lid holder for all of those mismatched pieces of Tupperware that we have and that we can never find the lid to. This is going to be such a savior and keeping me organized in the kitchen it came completely ready to go. All I did was pop it into my pantry. It's very sturdy and very well-made. You can line up next to each other or even stack them. My only issue is now I want so many more," said one fan in a five-star review on Target.com.

Why Is RFK Jr. Suddenly Jealous of Don Jr.?

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 1:56pm

RFK Jr. is jealous of DJT Jr. Why is Donald Trump’s Secretary of Health and Human Services envious of the President’s son? Well, to start with, it has nothing to do with the White House, a clash of famous families, or politics.

Don Jr. probably has a lot to be envious of. His wealth, his five adorable children, and of course, his glam new bride Bettina Trump. But Robert F. Kennedy Jr.also has a lot going on for himself. Not only is he a current Cabinet member, but he’s also a member of the iconic Kennedy clan and is married to actress Cheryl Hines. So if you’re still wondering why he’s pining for something Don Jr. has, here’s your answer.

The commander-in-chief’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., recently posted a series of pics from his return to the Bahamas. Don Jr. now-famously wed his second wife, Bettina, on a secluded private island in a chic, but decidedly low-key, ceremony back in May.

According to his recent post, the couple, Trump Jr.’s two youngest children (12-year-old Chloe Trump and 13-year-old Spencer Trump, whom he shares with ex-wife Vanessa Trump), and several close friends returned to the wedding spot and spent the weekend at Little Pipe Cay, enjoying what looks like an absolutely amazing fishing trip.

Don. Jr. shared several snapshots of the gang’s catch ( including more than a few massive lobsters), writing, “Awesome crushfest in the Bahamas this past weekend. Great friends, great food, great time! Also getting Chloe and Spencer their first lobsters was epic.”

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was one of the first to comment on DJT Jr.’s post, responding with, “Envious!” and three lobster emojis.

View this post on Instagram

Of course, RFK Jr. wasn’t the only one who wished they could have caught that stash. Commenters replied with, “So jealous, take me with you!” and, “Looks like a blast!”

Trump Jr.’s wife, Bettina, also posted a carousel of photos from the weekend getaway, captioning her pics, “Great crew, great crush, and magical memories! Nothing beats fresh lobster, salty skin, sun kissed cheeks, time with family, and friends who are family.”

And no, RFK Jr. did not comment on Bettina’s post. But plenty of her fans did, praising the fun-filled tropical beach getaway.
