Val Kilmer Fans React to His AI Resurrection in New Movie Trailer

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 11:17pm

Back in 2017, the world of cinema was graced with a disappointing film known as The Snowman. Ironically, the head-scratching thriller featured a star-studded cast that included the late, great Val Kilmer.

Before his death in 2025, the Top Gun star was battling throat cancer, and those who saw The Snowman probably noticed early on that Kilmer's voice was eerily dubbed over due to his condition.

Years later, the filmmakers behind As Deep as the Grave have decided that their upcoming western necessitates Kilmer's presence, despite the fact that he's no longer with us. This week, they debuted a trailer at CinemaCon, giving the Las Vegas viewers a first look at the AI technology in action that was used to create the Batman Forever star's performance.

Kilmer had been cast as Father Fintan, a Catholic priest and Native American spiritualist, but was too sick to shoot his role, Variety reports. With the cooperation of Kilmer’s estate and his daughter, the As Deep as the Grave team used generative AI to include the actor in the finished film.

The trailer is now available on YouTube, and you'll see that Kilmer appears a number of times throughout — and at various ages! Check it out below.

Just as the reactions were mixed when a first look of the AI-generated Kilmer was revealed last month, the comments that are mounting on the YouTube trailer upload are generally not so positive. "Val was a great actor - this digital resurrection is a travesty," wrote one user, while another person commented, "Super creepy and weird."

In a statement to Variety, meanwhile, Mercedes Kilmer said her father would have wanted to be included in As Deep as the Grave: "He always looked at emerging technologies with optimism as a tool to expand the possibilities of storytelling. This spirit is something that we are all honoring within this specific film, of which he was an integral part."

1969 Rock Hit From the ‘Biggest Band in the World’ Was Reborn as a Soul-Rock Anthem

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 11:05pm

In April 1969, Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Proud Mary” just kept on burnin’.

Released three months earlier, the hit track about ditching city life for freedom on the Mississippi River spent 14 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at the No. 2 spot for three weeks in March.

The lead single off the band’s second album, Bayou Country, the track became the first CCR song to reach the coveted No. 2 spot, paving the way for a dominant run that would yield 12 more top-40 singles. From “Bad Moon Rising” in 1969, to “Lookin’ Out My Back Door/Long As I Can See the Light” in 1970, to “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” in 1971, CCR were on a historic streak.

But even at their commercial peak, internal cracks were beginning to show.

“At the dawn of the ’70s, Creedence Clearwater Revival were the biggest band in the world — a brilliant and driven hit machine with deep roots in American tradition,” Uncut magazine wrote. “By 1972, though, it was all over, and the ex-bandmates embarked on a bitter war that still continues, 40 years later.”

Their run as the world’s biggest band effectively ended with Mardi Gras (1972), with frontman John Fogerty said “dark times” followed. “I was miserable. I stopped playing guitar. I was a bitter person,” he told the magazine.

“Proud Mary,” however, found a second life in 1971, when Tina Turner reimagined the folk-rock original as a high-energy soul-rock anthem.

Released on her and Ike Turner’s album Workin’ Together, the track became a signature showstopper in the icon's career, and cemented the song’s status as a hit with legs that reach much farther than its swamp-rock roots.

'RHOM' Star Lisa Hochstein Released from Custody After Allegedly Spying on Ex-Husband

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 11:00pm

The Real Housewives of Miamistar Lisa Hochstein has been released from police custody after turning herself in to authorities.

Hochstein is accused of unlawfully recording her ex-husband Lenny Hochstein during their divorce proceedings. Lisa was released on Wednesday, April 15 and was accompanied by her attorney.

Upon release, Lisa told CBS News Miami, "I love all my fans — thanks for the support."

Lisa's attorney barred any questions from reporters regarding the allegations, stating, "Come on. We're not talking about recordings. We're talking about taking a shower, and getting out of here. We're starting the process, that's all it is — hopefully we resolve very soon".

Lisa's ex-boyfriend, Jody Glidden, is also facing charges in connection with the unlawful recordings. Glidden was taken into custody on Sunday, April 12 and was released that Samy day on a $5,000. Glidden pleaded not guilty to the charges. Lisa and Glidden are both facing one felony count of illegally intercepting “oral statements by Leonard Hochstein and those Leonard Hochstein spoke with,” according to court documents.

Lisa and Lenny were married for 13 years before separating in 2022. The pair finalized their divorce in 2024 and share two children together.

The Real Housewives of Miami was paused indefinitely due to low ratings after the show's seventh season concluded in October 2025.

This Legendary Hollywood Icon Would Have Turned 137 Today

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 11:00pm

On April 16, the world celebrates the birthday of one of entertainment’s most influential pioneers: Charlie Chaplin. Born in 1889, the legendary performer would have turned 137 today—a staggering reminder of just how long his impact has endured.

Best known for creating the iconic Tramp character, Chaplin helped define the language of early cinema. Through films like Modern Times and The Kid, he blended physical comedy with emotional storytelling in a way that still resonates more than a century later. His ability to communicate universal human experiences (without relying on dialogue!) made his work timeless, transcending borders and generations.

Chaplin wasn’t just a comedian; he was a filmmaker in the truest sense, often writing, directing, producing, and starring in his own projects. His attention to detail and commitment to storytelling helped elevate film from novelty to art form. Even today, his influence can be seen in everything from modern comedy to visual storytelling techniques used across Hollywood.

Among those deeply inspired by Chaplin was Walt Disney. Disney admired Chaplin’s ability to evoke emotion through movement and expression—qualities that would later become foundational in animation. The idea that a character could make audiences laugh, cry, and connect without saying a word helped shape Disney’s approach to storytelling, particularly in the early days of animated film.

As we mark what would have been his 137th birthday, Chaplin’s legacy is a reminder that powerful storytelling often comes down to something much simpler: humanity, humor, and heart.

1964 Career-Defining Hit Was Recorded 62 Years Ago Today

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 11:00pm

Dean Martin's "Everybody Loves Somebody" was recorded 62 years ago today!

The song, written in 1947 by composer Irving Taylor and pianist Ken Lane, was recorded by multiple artists—including Frank Sinatra—before Martin gave his rendition a go on April 16, 1964.

On August 15, 1964, the song hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100—marking Martin's first No. 1 song since 1956 and his first top 40 hit since 1958. "Everybody Loves Somebody" also topped the Pop-Standard Singles chart for eight weeks.

Despite Martin's long and illustrious career, he only had two No. 1 hits: “Everybody Loves Somebody” and "Memories Are Made of This."

With "Everybody Loves Somebody," the singer knocked The Beatles' "A Hard Day's Night" from the top spot on the charts—despite the ongoing "British Invasion" infiltrating pop and rock music in the 1960s.

Referring to The Beatles, the Italian-American crooner famously told his son Dean Paul Martin, “I’m gonna knock your pallies off the charts.”

Martin also sent a telegram to Elvis Presley which said, “If you can’t handle the Beatles, I’ll do it for you, pally.”

“Everybody Loves Somebody” replaced "That's Amore" as Martin's signature song, and was even the theme song for Martin's variety show, The Dean Martin Show, which ran for a decade with over 250 episodes.

The song's 1964 recording was also inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999.

62 years later, the song’s message is immortalized on Martin's gravestone, which reads, "Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime." Martin died in 1995 at the age of 78 from acute respiratory failure resulting from emphysema and lung cancer.

1971 Career-Defining Classic Was a Massive No. 1 Hit 55 Years Ago Today

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 10:58pm

In 1971, Marvin Gaye released a song that would redefine his career and become one of the most important recordings of its time.

On April 15, 1971, "What's Going On" celebrated its place as No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart, where it remained for five weeks. The song also climbed to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, highlighting its popularity across genres and its growing audience.

Its success marked a major milestone in Gaye's career and helped launch the album of the same name, which is now widely regarded as one of the greatest albums ever created.

Released earlier that year on January 21, 1971, the song took a bold new direction, blending soul music with social commentary. Its smooth sound paired with lyrics addressing issues like war, poverty and inequality helped it stand out from much of the music on the charts at the time.

Gaye wrote the track alongside Renaldo Benson and Al Cleveland, and they worked together to make it reflect the cultural climate of the early 1970s. Its layered vocals and laid-back groove created a distinctive sound, while its message gave it a deeper sense of purpose that resonated with listeners across generations.

Reflecting on that period, Gaye spoke about the emotions behind the music. "There was a lot of unrest in America," he said. "My brother was at war, and I prayed that he would come through safely." He described it as "a very trying period," and this perspective heavily shaped the song's message and tone.

More than five decades later, "What's Going On" remains a defining piece of Marvin Gaye's career. Its influence continues to be felt, with the song often ranked among the greatest recordings of all time and remembered for both its sound and its message.

While hitting the red carpet at Cipriani South Street in New York City on Wednesday, April 15, Pink showed off her fit physique as she stepped out in a black Magda Butrym gown. The sleek, body-hugging number featured a cat-ear strapless neckline and a statement satin rose on her hip.

The 46-year-old music superstar finished off her look with various pieces of sparkly jewelry, including dangling silver earrings, a glitzy bracelet and some dainty layered necklaces. She also added a pair of silver heels that were decked out in rhinestones to give her ensemble a bit of extra flair.

As far as hair and makeup, Pink rocked her signature mohawk-style pixie cut, while opting for full-glam makeup with a dramatic smokey eye. For some pops of color, she wore a rosy shade of nude lipstick and her nails were painted a deep shade of red.

Pink was the honoree for the annual Planned Parenthood event, but she wasn't the only notable name on the star-studded guest list. Other attendees included Patricia Arquette, Natasha Lyonne, Lily Rabe, Helena Christensen, Tommy Dorfman and more.

Wednesday night's occasion comes just days after the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced the 2026 inductee class, for which Pink was among the nominees. The "So What" songstress wasn't among those selected this year, but it was only her first time being nominated and the first year she was eligible, so she's still got time.

’60s Oscar Winner Announces Important Collaboration

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 10:44pm

More and more celebrities are using their influence and platform for the greater good.

Jane Fonda is among the Hollywood stars who have recently been making headlines for her activism.

In an Instagram post, she unveiled her latest project with Amazon Frontlines, a non-profit organization dedicated to defending Indigenous rights and protecting the Amazon rainforest.

After being named an Honorary Board Member, the veteran actress is helping shift the spotlight toward global rainforest protection ahead of Earth Day.

The video featured Fonda’s first visit to the Amazon, where she had the chance to interact with the locals and experience firsthand their advocacy to preserve the rainforest.

Among the community’s missions is the fight to stop oil companies from invading their rainforest home.

“From now until #EarthDay, I’m partnering with @amazonfrontlines to support Indigenous storytellers—because protecting the #AmazonRainforest means standing with the people who defend it. On my first trip to the Amazon, I met Wiña, a Waorani woman my age. Tiny, quiet, and luminous. She spoke only Wao Tededo and told me through a translator: “If we lose our language, we lose our strength, our power. It is our identity,” the caption reads.

The Book Club star also sought help and action from the public by encouraging people to donate to support conservation efforts, with a limited-time matching donation offer to increase impact.

View this post on Instagram

“Wiña’s home is treated as a “resource” and is under threat. Oil expansion now threatens millions of acres of the Amazon and the communities that have protected it for generations. When we said goodbye, I realized we are two grandmothers from different worlds, fighting the same fight. Join me in donating today. Through April 22nd, every donation is matched, helping protect our shared future,” she wrote.

This bold movement comes ahead of the annual Earth Day celebration on April 22, a global event dedicated to promoting environmental protection and sustainability.

Beyond her environmental advocacy, Fonda has been involved in high-profile activism since the late 1960s.

According to Women's History, what sparked her interest in social and political movements was her time living in France.

Through the media, the actress observed how the public responded to the Civil Rights Movement and the anti–Vietnam War protests.

This inspired her to return home and become involved in activism.

Among her earliest known actions was in 1969 when she visited Native American activists who were occupying Alcatraz Island in San Francisco to protest the government’s treatment of Indigenous peoples.

Best-Selling Classic Novel Named Among Most 'Disappointing' Books on Goodreads

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 10:40pm

It may be widely considered one of the greatest American novels ever written, but The Great Gatsby is now getting a very different kind of recognition from readers online.

The 1925 classic by F. Scott Fitzgerald has landed among the most “disappointing” books on Goodreads, according to a long-running list that highlights titles readers felt didn’t live up to the hype.

On the popular Goodreads list titled “Disappointing Books,”The Great Gatsby appears among the top entries alongside modern bestsellers and other literary classics. The list is based on votes from readers who say the book didn’t meet their expectations.

This sentiment may come as a surprise given The Great Gatsby’s towering reputation, best-selling status, and overwhelming popularity. Many people list the book as their favorite of all time.

The novel, set during the Roaring Twenties, follows a mysterious millionaire named Jay Gatsby and his obsessive love for Daisy Buchanan, as narrated by Midwesterner Nick Carraway.

Through its depiction of wealth, excess and illusion, the book has long been praised for its sharp critique of the American Dream. Over the decades, it has become a staple of high school and college curriculum and is frequently cited as a defining work of 20th-century American literature.

Related: A Cult Classic Once Dubbed "Mediocre" Debuted in Theaters 28 Years Ago Today

There have also been multiple film adaptations, starting with the now-lost 1926 silent film. Other films followed in 1949, 1974, and 2000, while a loose adaptation named G came out in 2002.

The most well-known version is arguably the Baz Luhrmann-helmed 2013 movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Gatsby, Carey Mulligan as Daisy, and Tobey Maguire as Carraway. The movie was relatively well-received by audiences and critics, and it made over $350 million at the box office.

But as the Goodreads list suggests, not every reader connects with the classic story in the same way. Some readers took issue with the book’s pacing or style, while others felt the story didn't live up to the cultural hype surrounding it.

'90s Rock Band Announces Update Before 2026 Tour

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 9:56pm

Fans of The Afghan Whigs have a new reason to celebrate as the iconic ’90s rock group continues marking a major milestone. Ahead of their highly anticipated 2026 tour, the band has officially announced a string of U.K. dates, extending their 40th anniversary celebration across the pond.

The newly revealed shows will mark the band’s first U.K. performances in about four years, giving international fans a long-awaited chance to see the influential alt-rock band back on stage.

The six-date run kicks off on September 19 in Leeds, before making stops in Nottingham, Glasgow, Manchester, and London. This leg of their tour will wrap up in Brighton on September 26.

Tickets for the U.K. leg are set to go on sale on April 17, with a fan presale launching earlier, and singer-songwriter Ed Harcourt will be supporting the band for all six concerts.

The U.K. dates follow the previously announced North American leg of their 40th anniversary tour, which kicks off April 25 in Woodstock, N.Y., and spans multiple major cities through May. This includes stops in Pennsylvania, Ohio, California, and more. Mercury Rev will be performing as well on all of the North American dates.

Alongside the tour news, the band has also been keeping things fresh musically. They recently released “House of I,” their first new song since their 2022 album How Do You Burn?. Frontman Greg Dulli described it as an “up-tempo” track born out of sessions in New Orleans.

Reflecting on the milestone anniversary, Dulli expressed gratitude for the band’s enduring career, noting that performing and creating music decades later still feels surreal.

He said, "40 years later, I still get to do the thing I love the most. Writing songs and performing them with my friends all over the world. I truly have to pinch myself.”

Along with Dulli, The Afghan Whigs also includes members John Curley, Rick G. Nelson, Patrick Keeler, and Christopher Thorn.

1989 Hit Film Ranked Among 'Greatest Blockbuster Movies'

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 9:48pm

Audiences have been split for decades on which Indiana Jones film reigns supreme.

While many fans champion Raiders of the Lost Ark as the definitive entry, Collider has made a case for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade — ranking it not only as the best film in the franchise, but among the “Greatest Blockbuster Movies of the Last 50 Years.”

The secret, according to the publication, is the pairing of Harrison Ford and Sean Connery. Together, the two bring a humor and heart to the film that makes Last Crusade feel like more than just an action-adventure.

Directed by Steven Spielberg, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is the third installment in the beloved franchise. The film is a race against the Nazis to find the Holy Grail — the legendary cup said to grant eternal life.

When Indiana's father, Henry Jones Sr., vanishes while searching for the relic, Indy is pulled into a rescue mission that becomes as much about family as it is about archaeology.

Related: 1954 Film Ranked Among ‘Best Movies of All Time’ Still Holds a Perfect Rating

The film also came at a critical time for the franchise. Temple of Doom had divided critics with its darker tone, and Last Crusade was Spielberg's deliberate return to the lighter, more adventurous spirit of Raiders.

Casting Connery as Henry Jones Sr. turned out to be the film's smartest decision, as his chemistry with Ford gave the movie an emotional core that neither of the other films had.

The fun between the two actors carried over behind the scenes. Ford and Connery's most talked-about off-camera moment came during the filming of the blimp scene — which both actors shot without pants.

Ford broke down exactly what happened in a GQ interview following the release of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

“Pure fun working with him. We enjoyed a great relationship. He was a heavy sweater and he wore heavy wool pants, and he did appear without his pants because of the heat,” he recalled.

“And I felt it both necessary and appropriate to remove my pants. So we had two pantsless men photographed from the waist up.”

That chemistry clearly resonated with audiences at the box office. Last Crusade was the biggest film of 1989, earning over $474 million worldwide against a $48 million budget.

Critics were just as enthusiastic, giving it an 84% on Rotten Tomatoes and three Academy Award nominations, including Best Film Editing.

'70s Rock Band Ranked Among 'Greatest Artists of All Time' Broke the Record for Having the Most No. 2 Singles

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 9:38pm

When it comes to an iconic band like Creedence Clearwater Revival, most people probably assume that the group's popular songs (which are still on the radio nonstop to this day) were number one hits.

In fact, Creedence never had a single song go all the way to the top of the charts...but they got close. In fact, they got super close, more times than any other classic rock band.

Creedence Clearwater Revival has the distinction of having held the #2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 more often than any other group of the same genre, with five of their songs taking second place over the course of just a couple of years: "Proud Mary," "Bad Moon Rising" and "Green River" in 1969, plus "Lookin' Out My Back Door/Long As I Can See The Light" and "Travelin' Band/Who'll Stop The Rain" in 1970.

Another impressive feat: Those five #2 songs only make up a little more than half of Creedence's total top 10 hits, which also include "Down On The Corner/Fortunate Son" (#3, 1969), "Up Around The Bend/Run Through The Jungle" (#4, 1970), "Sweet Hitch-Hiker" (#6, 1971) and "Have You Ever Seen The Rain/Hey Tonight" (#8, 1971).

While CCR might be the classic rock band with the most #2 songs ever, as American Songwriter pointed out, there are pop stars with even more, including Taylor Swift with 10, Madonna with six and Drakewith 12. (Elvis Presley actually ties CCR's record for the same amount of #2 songs...but he also holds a record for #1 songs, and he wasn't a whole band.)

"John Fogerty wrote more classic songs in a three-year stretch than anyone other than the Beatles," wrote Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus for Rolling Stone, which ranked CCR #82 on a "100 Greatest Artists of All Time" list.

Malkmus went on to praise Fogerty's "inimitable voice."

"He puts it to the test over and over — and wins," Malkmus continued. "The rhythm section is rad. You try to play this stuff and you'll see they had chops. The rhythm guitar kicks, too. Fogerty plays what I would if I was 22, more talented and into the blues."

"The focus is on the songs and not the rock star BS that was taking over back then," Malkmus added, "but they weren't afraid to create a mood. When Cream came out, everybody started a power trio. But basically, 'Suzie Q' has all the drama you would ever need."

Fun fact: "Suzie Q" only peaked at #11 on the charts...but clearly, numbers aren't everything.

Beverly Kim, who had been voted by the other chefs as most likely to win last week, was done in by this commandment.

“This commandment was crazy, I guess it got the best of me,” Beverly said, crying. “I was kind of in the zone and I got lost in it. I feel this last seven weeks, I’ve grown as a chef and I’ve also grown as a person. I’m less afraid to be myself. Just because the chapter is ending here doesn’t mean my book won’t continue to go forward."

America’s Culinary Cup airs Wednesday nights at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. Streams next day on Paramount+.

If you are not ready to talk before your first sip of coffee, Target totally gets it (and so do I). The new $8 stoneware mug from Target is a whole morning mood in cup form. It is bold, funny, and so relatable for anyone who needs quiet time in the morning.

This stoneware Do Not Disturb Croissant Coffee Mug at Target holds 15 fluid ounces, which means plenty of room for your favorite coffee. The mug is bright cobalt blue and features a clean white design on the front, with the words “do not disturb” curving across the top. Under the words, there is a simple white drawing of a croissant next to a steaming coffee mug. It's delightfully retro, yet still very modern.

The look of this stoneware mug feels cozy and café-inspired. It is easy to imagine using it on a slow Sunday morning with soft music playing in the background.

The "Do not disturb" messaging is something we are all thinking about before that first sip of coffee. When you're feeling tired and ready for a quiet morning, you do not even have to say a word. Just hold your mug, take a big sip, and people will understand.

In a funny way, this mug helps set boundaries. For introverts, busy parents, or anyone who is not a morning person, it sends a clear message without being rude. It protects your peace and your mental energy. Instead of jumping right into questions and conversations, you get to enjoy your coffee in silence.

This Target stoneware mug is also a sweet reminder to slow down. Mornings can feel rushed and stressful. Taking a few quiet minutes with a warm mug in your hands can make a big difference.

If you work from home, this mug can even signal that you are in focus mode. It is a lighthearted way to say you are not ready to engage just yet. The humor makes it fun and relatable instead of serious.

At just $8, this Target stoneware mug is an easy yes. It would make a perfect Mother's Day gift, a thoughtful surprise for a friend, or a simple treat for yourself.

Nespresso Dropped an Adorable Bubble Gum Pink Accessory to Celebrate Its Collab With This Pop Star

Coffee really does an unreasonable amount of heavy lifting in our lives. It's the morning motivator and the mid-day reset. Heck, maybe it's even part of the espresso martini you're enjoying in the evening. Whether you're grabbing it on the go or savoring a slower sip at home, coffee is intrinsically woven into the rhythm of the day. But if you think about it, coffee isn't just about caffeine—it’s kind of a tiny, daily escape. One sip can transport you to wherever those beans came from, whether it’s somewhere lush, coastal or halfway across the world from your kitchen counter.

That's kind of the idea behind Nespresso’s latest campaign, Vertuo World. It leans into that sense of travel and discovery, with Dua Lipa front and center as the brand’s newest global ambassador. And honestly, it fits—she brings that same energy of going somewhere new, even if you're just standing in your kitchen.

It's a fun reminder that coffee can be more than just routine—it can feel like a little moment away, too. And since so many of us love to take our coffee on the go, Nespresso just hit us with its Iced Tumbler in a flirty new colorway—Bubble Gum Pink. Because what's a new launch without a cute cup to collect? Travel tumblers aren't just functional, they're a whole accessory. And this pink version started turning heads during the first weekend of Coachella.

The tumbler holds 18.3 ounces of your favorite cold beverage, and it's spill-resistant thanks to the attached cap. There's a pink straw included, but an extra, too, just in case. Plus, the textured design provides a better grip on the tumbler—because no one needs an iced coffee accident while they're on the go.

How Much Is Nespresso's Pink Iced Tumbler?

Nespresso's Bubble Gum Pink Iced Tumbler costs $22 and you can order it straight from the brand's website. But it is limited edition so if you want one, you should probably act fast.

It's dishwasher safe, but you're probably going to want to handwash this cup in order to get to all of the nooks and crannies. Nespresso recommends removing the silicone band from the tumbler in order to properly wash each of the parts.
