Legendary ’90s Rocker Announces Special Appearance Amid 2026 Tour

Fri, 04/10/2026 - 1:20am

Fans of Eddie Vedder have one more reason to celebrate his long-awaited return to Japan.

The iconic ‘90s rocker revealed on Instagram that he will make a special appearance at a Tokyo pop-up shop in Shibuya-ku on April 19, 2026.

The announcement comes as Vedder prepares for his first-ever solo tour in Japan, a milestone moment for the legendary frontman of Pearl Jam. The surprise pop-up visit adds an extra layer of excitement for fans already gearing up for a rare chance to see the grunge icon perform in intimate theater settings.

Vedder’s 2026 tour, titled An Evening with Eddie Vedder, will feature four shows across Japan. The run begins on April 14 in Nagoya and continues through Osaka and Kyoto before wrapping up in Tokyo on April 20.

View this post on Instagram

This marks Vedder’s first solo tour in the country, and it highlights his evolution beyond his work with Pearl Jam. The shows are expected to include songs from his solo albums, along with select tracks spanning his decades-long career.

Tour dates include:

  • April 14 – Nagoya, Forest Hall
  • April 16 – Osaka, Festival Hall
  • April 17 – Kyoto, Rohm Theater
  • April 20 – Tokyo, Garden Theater

While details about the appearance remain minimal, the timing, just one day before his Tokyo concert, suggests a highly anticipated fan moment.

The pop-up is expected to draw both local and international fans, especially given Vedder’s history of surprise appearances. During a 2025 visit to Japan, he joined Jack White onstage for a live performance of “Rockin’ in the Free World,” originally by Neil Young.

Now, with a confirmed public appearance tied to his tour, anticipation is even higher.

Born Edward Louis Severson III, Vedder rose to fame in the early 1990s as the voice of Pearl Jam, one of the defining bands of the grunge era. Known for his deep, powerful vocals and emotional songwriting, he helped shape hits from the band’s breakthrough album Ten, which sold millions worldwide.

Over the years, Vedder has built a strong solo career, releasing albums like Into the Wild (2007) and Earthling (2022).

Beyond music, Vedder remains active in social causes, including environmental efforts and medical research advocacy. This year, he also gained attention for the documentary Matter of Time, which highlights his support for research on a rare genetic condition.

Even as Pearl Jam continues to evolve, with new music reportedly in development, Vedder’s solo tour underscores his ability to connect with audiences in a more intimate way.

Between the tour performances and the special appearance, Vedder’s return to Japan is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about rock events of 2026.

Popular Household Cleaning Item Recalled Over 'Serious Burn Hazard'

Fri, 04/10/2026 - 12:48am

Attention, all you household cleaners — especially for those who favor handheld steamers.

The popular brand BISSELL just recalled roughly 1.7 million of its Steam Shot OmniReach and Steam Shot Omni Steam Cleaners.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on Thursday, April 9 that the units were recalled "due to serious burn hazard" from their attachments.

More specifically, "the recalled steam cleaners’ attachments can unexpectedly detach from the steam cleaners and expel hot water or steam onto users during use, posing a serious burn hazard."

BISSELL took to Instagram on Thursday to share the recall news with its followers and fans.

"Safety is our top priority, and we have a 150-year history of producing quality products that consumers can trust," the caption of its post reads. "Out of an abundance of caution and in cooperation with the CPSC, we’re issuing a voluntary recall of our Steam Shot cleaner."

View this post on Instagram

BISSELL has already received more than 200 reports of hot water or steam unexpectedly escaping from the steam cleaners’ attachments, the U.S. CPSC reports, including 161 reports of burn injuries with a report of one second-degree burn.

The remedy for said issue is listed as "repair," which is why users should stop using their recalled attachments immediately and contact BISSELL to receive free new attachments. You can register for a recall here, where you can also find instructions on how to upload a photo showing that the original attachment accessories have been disposed of in the trash.

The affected model numbers — which are located on the product rating label on the bottom of the unit — are as follows:

Iconic ’70s Rocker Shares First Post After 2026 Wedding

Fri, 04/10/2026 - 12:35am

Love is in the air for Mick Fleetwood of the iconic band Fleetwood Mac.

The legendary drummer continues to draw attention after sparking excitement once again among his fans.

In an Instagram update, the 78-year-old musician returned to the spotlight with his first social media post following his wedding.

The update featured the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer soaking up the sun as he played ukulele and bongos with a background of clear blue waters and a pristine beach in Tahiti.

View this post on Instagram

“On the beach… in Tahiti,” he captioned his post.

The comment section was filled with enthusiastic reactions from fans.

“Sounds incredible… Love it, Mick! Beautiful setting, enjoy,” one wrote.

“Looking great, Mick, awesome stuff!” an Instagram user remarked.

“Beautiful music! I love it,” a commenter said.

“Loving the vibes,” a follower added.

Another user echoed the same, noting, “What a beautiful groove !!! You put the " Mick " in Rhythmic !!!!!!”

Meanwhile, one commenter mentioned recalling another legendary band: “Very Beach Boys sounding.”

Fleetwood’s social media update comes after his wedding to his fourth wife and longtime partner, Elizabeth Jordan.

Before March ended, the Fleetwood Mac co-founder posted a glimpse of their wedding, showing his followers the highlight of the ceremony.

View this post on Instagram

On March 28, the drummer and Jordan secretly wed following their engagement in 2025.

The post featured the musician dressed in a black tuxedo while his 56-year-old bride wore a fur coat and a high-neck wedding dress. But instead of revealing their faces, the legendary drummer covered their faces with a fedora hat.

Although they did not share further details regarding the ceremony, the couple spent their honeymoon in the South Pacific.

“The South Pacific does its magic !!! A honeymoon with my love Elizabeth…creating moments to be remembered!! Sun health and happiness!!” he captioned.

The recent wedding was the drummer’s fifth marriage.

His first marriage was to Jenny Boyd in 1970, but they ended their relationship in 1976. However, following the divorce, they got back together and remarried a year later.

Unfortunately, the pair, who share two daughters, Amy and Lucy, called it quits again, this time for good, in 1978.

In 1988, the musician changed his status from single to married once again after officially tying the knot with Sara Recor.

Their relationship didn't last long, ultimately ending in divorce in 1995. Interestingly, this was also the same year when he married his third wife, Lynn Frankel.

Seven years later, they welcomed twin daughters Ruby and Tessa in 2002. The marriage ended in 2013 after 18 years.

Legendary ’70s Rock Band Battles Legal Drama

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 11:35pm

A legendary rock band from the 1970s is making headlines for a growing legal battle that is spilling into public view.

Members of Journey are facing ongoing disputes that have reached courtrooms and stirred strong reactions from fans, raising concerns about how internal conflict could affect the group’s legacy.

At the center of the issue is guitarist and co-founder Neal Schon, who recently opened up about the tension between himself and bandmate Jonathan Cain. Their disagreement, described as both financial and ideological, has reportedly led to repeated legal filings and a strained working relationship.

“I feel like I get one [lawsuit] served every week from his camp,” Schon told Rolling Stone. “It’s like, ‘Jesus Christ!’”

Despite the seriousness of the situation, the band continues to perform together as part of their ongoing farewell tour. However, the offstage conflict has become difficult to ignore, especially as details surface online and in interviews.

Schon did not hide his frustration when discussing the legal disputes. He emphasized how exhausting the situation has become, even after years of experience in the music industry.

“I hate all these attorneys. It’s so nuts,” he said. “There’s just so much ongoing noise. And I just want some [explicit] peace, for real. I’m just really tired of all the legal [battles]. It’s meaningless to me. I don’t have any time for it.”

The tension goes beyond legal matters. Reports indicate that differences in personal beliefs have also played a role in the conflict. Still, both musicians remain committed to performing, putting their differences aside when they step on stage.

“The music we’ve created together is amazing,” Schon said. “And so, you have to celebrate that music with the fans. The fans are incredible. When I’m onstage, I don’t think about any of [the drama].”

The situation has also drawn attention from other artists. Michael Sweet, lead singer of Stryper, recently shared his thoughts on the growing trend of bands airing conflicts online.

“Just a quick thought on all the band drama that we all see online: First, we have our own drama,” Sweet said, per Alternative Nation. “What blows my mind, is the constant drama with certain bands. It definitely affects what the fans think and it definitely tarnishes the name/brand. Without question.”

Sweet warned that public disputes can change how fans experience music. He stressed that concerts should be an escape, not a reminder of negative headlines.

“People want to escape reality and escape the world when they go to a show or when they listen to a song,” he explained. “They don’t want to be thinking about the negative story they read two hours before the show.”

He also urged musicians to handle problems privately. “People need to get in a room and discuss things like adults and work things out and stop going online to present all their problems,” Sweet said.

While the drama continues, Journey remains on its Final Frontier farewell tour, celebrating more than 50 years of music. The tour includes dozens of shows across North America and features a mix of classic hits and fan favorites.

Frontman Arnel Pineda continues to lead the band on stage, alongside longtime members Schon and Cain.

Best-Selling Author's Novel Consistently Ranks Among Top Reader Favorites on Goodreads

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 11:13pm

Among all of Taylor Jenkins Reid's best-selling novels, there's one story that readers can't seem to forget about.

The acclaimed author's historical fiction novel The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo has resonated with readers since it was published in 2017, frequently earning a spot on lists of top reader favorites. It's even included on the Goodreads fan-voted list of the Best Books Ever, where it's ranked at #207.

🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬

With over a million copies sold and an average rating of 4.39 stars on Goodreads, Evelyn Hugo is ranked #1 on Goodreads' "Couldn't Put It Down" list, and it placed sixth on the list of the Best Books of 2017. It's also listed among the Top 100 Audible Essentials of all time.

The fan-favorite novel — became massively popular thanks to "BookTok" — was also named a Goodreads Choice Award Nominee for Best Historical Fiction in 2017, and it earned a nomination for the Book of the Month Book of the Year award that year.

What Is The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo About?

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, the fifth book published by Jenkins read, follows the story of a retired Hollywood icon, who, after years of staying away from the spotlight, has decided to share the truth about her extraordinary life — both the glamorous and not-so glamorous parts.

While meeting with reporter Monique Grant, who she handpicked herself, Evelyn "recounts her rise to fame in Hollywood’s Golden Age and her famous seven marriages, and along the way, she reveals stunning secrets and lies to Monique," according to its Audible synopsis. "As Evelyn’s story is finally told, one question remains: Why has she chosen Monique for her final confession?"

Is The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo Getting a Movie Adaptation?

Netflixannounced in 2022 that it would be adapting Evelyn Hugo for the big screen, but there are still few details available about the upcoming project.

No official casting announcements have been made, but we know that filmmaker Maggie Betts will be directing, with Liz Tigelaar (Little Fires Everywhere) writing the script. Jenkins Reid is also expected to serve as an executive producer.

An official release date has not yet been announced.

For those who couldn't put down Evelyn Hugo but haven't read much of Jenkins Reid's work, her other best-selling novels come highly-recommended by her loyal readers.

Along with the popular book Daisy Jones & the Six (2019) — which was already adapted into a Prime Video series — Jenkins Reid has a number of other page turners, including best-sellers Malibu Rising (2021), Carrie Soto Is Back (2022) and Atmosphere (2025), as well as One True Loves (2016) Maybe in Another Life (2015), After I Do (2014) and Forever, Interrupted (2013).

1967 No.1 Hit Track That 'Shaped Rock and Roll' Released 59 Years Ago

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 11:11pm

Deviating from a genre of music a band is most known for can sometimes lead to a chart-topping hit. Felix Cavaliere and Eddie Brigati developed a No. 1 hit track in 1967 for their rock band, the Young Rascals, that took on a Latin American influence.

The '60s band had developed a following for their blend of rock, pop, and soul music with early hits like "Good Lovin" in 1966. A year later, the band decided to experiment away from their well-known genres and developed the track "Groovin," which took on the Brazilian music genre and dance style known as baião.

"Groovin" was created thanks to Cavaliere, who wanted to express his feelings of only getting to see his then-girlfriend, Adrienne Buccheri, on the weekends. The band's popularity, coupled with touring and recording sessions, didn't give the couple enough time to see each other. As a result, "Groovin" lyrics are about a narrator spending time with his partner on Sunday afternoons.

The Young Rascals, at the time, also wanted to move away from the genres that made them popular, with Cavaliere having also drawn inspiration from having worked at mountain resorts in upstate New York. It was there that he was introduced to Latin rhythms. When recording "Groovin" was complete, head of Atlantic Records Jerry Wexler was skeptical about the track because of the genre.

Related: 1969 Chart-Topping Track Won an Oscar For ‘Best Original Song’ 56 Years Ago Today

Disc jockey Murray the K was the one to convince Wexler that it would be a smashing hit, with Covaliere having once commented that the track is a homage to the  "whole world of Latin people out there who love to dance". They were right, as "Groovin" was released on April 10 and became a No. chart-topping hit on the Billboard Hot 100 charts a month later and kept its spot for two weeks.

Critics praised the track and noticed the band's change in genre for the better, and it was even tagged as being a summertime hit. It would later peak on the Billboard charts in May and June, with a broader fanbase for the band. "Groovin" would go on to cement itself in the  Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's "500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll" and would receive a Grammy Hall of Fame Award.

That same year, Booker T.& the M.G.'s recorded an instrumental version of the track that fit more of an instrumental rock and soul-inspired sound. It entered the Billboard Hot 100 charts at No. 86 and peaked at No. 21.

The couple didn't have a main storyline in season 4. But they appeared at the end of the season to join the cast at an engagement party. The producers asked Abbey how was her boyfriend.

"He's good. We're still together," she answered in episode 7. "Neither of us are ready to get married, but we've been together for over four years. The good news is we already feel like we're already married in our hearts."

Abbey also said she didn't want to rush into a marriage because she wants to avoid divorce. David later joined her. "Hopefully, we're next!" she said, referencing an engagement.

"Yes, we can only be engaged whenever the time is right," he responded. David's last Instagram post with Abbey was on Christmas Eve. His most recent one promotes his children's book, The Big Five Save the Lions!

‘The Pitt’: What Is Viral Meningitis, and What Does It Have To Do With Dr. Al-Hashimi’s Seizures?

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 11:01pm

A season-long fan theory has finally been confirmed to be true on The Pitt, as Dr. Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi) revealed to Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) that she has an unspecified seizure disorder.

Viewers have been suspecting for much of this season that Dr. Al-Hashimi was suffering from some sort of neurological disorder, as she was caught by the camera multiple times seemingly staring off into space, as if she'd zoned out in the middle of the bustling emergency room.

K so originally I thought she was having flashbacks and was skeptical about the seizures theory.

Now I am CONVINCED she's having absence seizures. She was completely unresponsive, seemed "frozen" and only seemed to notice when she saw the others looking at her. pic.twitter.com/32nn2JoQal

— Sarah ✱ (@disaster_sarah) April 3, 2026

It was confirmed in the show’s 11 o’clock hour, just seconds before the penultimate episode of Season 2 faded to black after the new attending requested a consult, looking for an “honest second opinion” from the head of the ER.

“I have some experience with this, but I’d appreciate a fresh perspective,” she told him, leading him to believe he was looking over the history of one of their new patients as he read an electronic chart in an empty treatment room.

It detailed a “40-year-old female with a history of seizure disorder for the past 35 years," who "was in excellent health" until she suffered "prolonged illness with viral meningitis" at five years old.

He trailed off as he read the information out loud, realizing she was looking for his opinion on her own medical care.

While we'll have to wait one more week to hear what he has to say, and whether he has any concrete medical advice to offer her, we're here to fill in some gaps about what exactly happened to the good doctor as a little girl, and how it plays into her health decades later.

What Is Viral Meningitis?

Meningitis, simply put, is inflammation of the meninges, which are a series of protective layers around the brain and spinal cord.

Viral meningitis is inflammation of the meninges that is caused by a viral infection. It is usually less severe than bacterial meningitis, but can still do damage to a patient—especially very young chidren, who are more prone to contracting it.

What Causes Viral Meningitis?

According to the Cleveland Clinic, the two most common viruses that can lead to meningitis are enteroviruses (which include, but are not limited to, viruses that cause diseases like hand, foot and mouth or pink eye) and herpes simplex viruses. However, it can also happen as a result of measles or mumps infections, from influenza viruses, and from the same virus that causes chicken pox or shingles, among others.

What Are the Symptoms of Viral Meningitis?

Meningitis can cause symptoms like fever, chills, severe headache, extreme light sensitivity, stiff neck, and visual disturbances, and long-term, it can lead to vision or hearing loss, learning disabilities, and problems with fine motor skills.

Does Viral Meningitis Cause Seizures?

Seizures are not always a manifestation of viral meningitis, but if the inflammation spreads to the brain, which is known as encephalitis, it may cause permanent brain damage or scar tissue that can trigger seizures.

According to research published by the National Library of Medicine, the chance of developing a seizure disorder is less than seven percent.

What Is an Absence Seizure?

When you hear the word seizure, your mind may go straight to convulsions, which is the more commonly known form of seizures. However, there's also a kind of seizure called an absence seizure, in which a person appears to be awake, but is not responsive to their environment. They may look like they're daydreaming, or they may have minor repetitive movements, like smacking their lips, according to the Mayo Clinic.

The seizures are usually brief, lasting up to 30 seconds, and the person is usually immediately aware of their surroundings again, unlike a generalized seizure, which usually has a period of recovery where the person is drowsy and confused.

Naturally, this can pose a risk to the provider and her patients should she suffer an absence seizure in the middle of an important procedure, such as CPR, intubation, or a clamshell thoracotomy.

Hopefully, next week, we'll find out why she chose to come forward about her condition now and how it's been affecting her career—and if she still has one at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center.

2000 Video by a ‘Greatest Pop Star of the 21st Century’ Became a Staple of Y2K Culture

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 11:00pm

26 years ago today, on April 10, Britney Spears’ iconic “Oops!... I Did It Again” music video premiered on MTV’s Making the Video before the song's global release a day later.

Directed by Nigel Dick, the out-of-this world cinematic clip depicts Spears as an alien from outer space coming into contact with a lovestruck astronaut on Mars. Perhaps the most iconic part of the visual is the flirtatious exchange the pair have toward the end of the clip, which references the 1997 James Cameron-directed blockbuster film, Titanic

In that moment,  the astronaut, played by former model-turned-surgeon Eli Swanson, offers Spears the supposed rare diamond featured in the Titanic movie.

The Dialogue

“Britney, before you go, there’s something I want you to have,” he tells the then-teenage pop star.

“But wait a minute, isn't this?” Spears questions.

“Yes, it is,” Swanson confirms before she asks, “But I thought the old lady dropped it into the ocean in the end?”

“Well, baby. I went down and got it for you,” he tells her, to which she replies, “Aww. You shouldn’t have.”

Remembering the Filming Process

“Half of it was a green screen, and the other half had red rocks to mimic the surface of Mars,” Swanson recalled during an interview with People. “There was also a whole crew of dancers and the red suit.”

The red suit he was referring to was the attire in the clip, which signaled the arrival of Spears as an artist, who was entering a new phase of her career while also making an impact on pop culture and fashion.

For the video, the singer donned a statement-making tight red latex jumpsuit. The form-fitting ensemble was a far cry from the teeny-bopper high-school outfit and pig-tails she wore for her earlier video release of “...Baby One More Time.” Though that music video launched the star’s career, “Oops!... I Did It Again” solidified her status as a global icon widely regarded as the “Princess of Pop.”

The video for “Oops!... I Did It Again” received three nominations at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. Meanwhile, the song, released on April 11, 2000, via Jive Records, was an instant success. Written and produced by Max Martin and Rami Yacoub, the tune, which serves as the title track and the lead-off single from Spears’ second studio album of the same name, not only topped the charts in over 20 countries, but it also received a Grammy nomination in 2001 for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

This Retro-Inspired Rock Star Turns 67 on April 10

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 11:00pm

If you came of age in the late ’70s and early ’80s, there’s a good chance Brian Setzer was part of your soundtrack.

The Stray Cats frontman turns 67 on April 10, and his career is one of those rare stories that feels both deeply rooted in nostalgia and still unmistakably influential today.

Setzer first burst onto the scene as the leader of Stray Cats, a band that helped bring rockabilly roaring back into the mainstream at a time when new wave and synth-pop were dominating the charts. With hits like "Stray Cat Strut" and "Rock This Town," the group carved out a sound that felt both vintage and completely fresh.

There was something instantly recognizable about Setzer’s style—slicked-back hair, a Gretsch guitar, and a sound that pulled straight from the roots of early rock ‘n’ roll. But it wasn’t just about looking the part. His guitar work, inspired by legends like Eddie Cochran, gave those songs an edge that helped them stand out on radio and MTV alike.

By the mid-1980s, the Stray Cats had already made their mark, but Setzer wasn’t done evolving.

In the ’90s, he introduced a whole new generation to swing music with the Brian Setzer Orchestra. At a time when grunge and alternative rock were dominating, Setzer went in a completely different direction—and it worked. Songs like "Jump, Jive an' Wail" became massive hits, helping spark a broader swing revival and earning him a Grammy Award along the way.

For many fans, that era felt like lightning in a bottle. It was big band energy, flashy performances and a sense of fun that stood out in the music landscape of the time.

But what makes Setzer’s career especially enduring is how seamlessly he’s moved between eras and styles. Whether it’s rockabilly, swing or holiday music (his Christmas albums have become seasonal staples for many), there’s a throughline to everything he does: a deep appreciation for the sounds that came before him.

Now, as he celebrates his 67th birthday, Setzer represents a kind of artist you don’t see quite as often anymore. He's someone who didn’t just follow trends, but helped revive entire genres for new audiences.

Best-Selling Author's Hit Novel Ranked Among 'Best Books Ever'

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 10:59pm

Few books have become as timelessly beloved as The Princess Bride.

Written by William Goldman, the 1973 novel has now been recognized by Goodreads as one of the greatest books ever written, ranking on its list of the "Best Books Ever." This acknowledgment reflects the story's lasting popularity across generations, with readers continuing to appreciate it decades after its release.

The Princess Bride tells the tale of a romance between Princess Buttercup and a farm boy named Westley, while weaving in humor and a metafictional narrative style. Its careful combination of fairy tale and wit set it apart from the more traditional fantasy novels of the time.

Although the story was remarkably well-written and destined for success, it was not an immediate hit. Fourteen years after its release, Goldman worked with Rob Reiner to adapt the story into a film. It earned $30.9 million at the box office and only continued to grow from there, with its universal appeal leading it to become a widely cherished classic.

Goldman was already an established writer before the novel's release, having received two Academy Awards for his screenwriting. However, The Princess Bride remains one of his most recognizable works, praised for its originality and enduring charm.

Despite his success, Goldman remained open about the challenges of writing. In a 2004 interview, he shared, "One of the things I love to do when I work with young writers is to disabuse them of the notion that I know what I'm doing. I don't know what I'm doing. ... Storytelling is always tricky."

More than fifty years after its debut, The Princess Bride continues to attract new readers while maintaining a strong reputation among longtime fans, solidifying its place as one of the most celebrated books in modern literature.

1972 No. 1 Soft Rock Hit Just Surpassed 1 Billion Streams on Spotify: 'I'm Amazed and Surprised'

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 9:56pm

As rock history has proven over and over again, oftentimes a band's biggest hit is a song they didn't expect to do particularly well.

A perfect example? America's classic 1972 #1 hit, "A Horse With No Name."

As guitarist/singer Dewey Bunnell told Classic Rock in 2007, "everybody had a song called 'I Need You' in mind as the single."

"It was initially felt that 'A Horse With No Name' was good but perhaps a little too quirky," he continued. "At first it felt like a bit of a novelty song. It was a shock that it became so popular.”

Now, over 50 years after "A Horse With No Name" was released, Bunnell continues to be shocked by the song's success. In a new video posted to America's official TikTok, Bunnell took the time to thank fans for the track's most recent milestone: Passing the billion-streams mark on Spotify.

@americatheband

Thank you to all the listeners, thank you @Spotify, and thank you to that old horse with no name 🙏 #horsewithnoname #americaband #70smusic

♬ A Horse with No Name - America

"Hi, this is Dewey Bunnell of the band America," the musician said in the clip.

"I'm amazed and surprised that I've just been informed that the song 'Horse With No Name,' which I wrote and America recorded, of course, 50-plus years ago, has surpassed the 1 billion mark on Spotify," he continued. "Thank you to all you listeners, thank you Spotify, and thank you to that old horse with no name."

Fans in the comments were thrilled to hear the news, with one calling the accomplishment "pure gold."

"Proves that music is timeless!" added a second person.

"One of the greatest songs ever written," declared someone else, with another commenter calling it the "best song ever."

Not only did Bunnell come around to the fact that "A Horse With No Name" was destined to be a hit, he's also made peace with the fact that America is associated with the soft rock genre, as he told Classic Rock.

“Being called ‘middle of the road’ used to make me flinch,” he said, “but I’d like to think that we’ve carved out our own place in music history.”

It seems Spotify users would say that's exactly what America has done.
