Gracie Abrams has earned her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, as her third studio album, Daughter From Hell, debuted atop the chart with 124,000 equivalent album units.

The milestone marks a career best for the 26-year-old singer-songwriter. It follows 2024's The Secret of Us, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and her 2023 debut album, Good Riddance. Before releasing full-length albums, Abrams put out the EPs minor in 2020 and This Is What It Feels Like in 2021.

Abrams is set to kick off the North American leg of her Daughter From Hell tour in December, with 37 shows running through March 2027. The tour begins at Denver's Ball Arena before wrapping with four nights at Brooklyn's Barclays Center from March 16-20. After a three-week break, she'll head to the U.K. and Europe for 27 additional shows in April and May.

Also on this week's Billboard 200, Olivia Rodrigo's You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love lands at No. 2, followed by Morgan Wallen's I'm the Problem, Ella Langley's Dandelion and Noah Kahan's The Great Divide.

Abrams released Daughter From Hell on July 17 to generally favorable reviews.

"Abrams' first two albums were delightfully introspective, her whispery bedroom vocals delivering her greatest secrets straight into your headphones over gentle instrumentation. At times, though, her songs ran the risk of sounding too similar, bleeding into each other both sonically and lyrically," Rolling Stone wrote in its review. "She obliterates that notion in Daughter From Hell, which she co-produced with [Aaron] Dessner, digging deep and experimenting more than ever before."

"[Abrams] sticks to her signature blend of bulletproof pop and melancholic indie folk, but the few risks she takes result in her best songs yet," added Pitchfork's Molly Mary O'Brien.

In a Popcast interview about Daughter From Hell in June, Abrams reflected on how her songwriting has evolved, describing her new record as "a little bit less diaristic, and mildly more existential."

Abrams is the daughter of filmmaker J. J. Abrams and film and television producer Katie McGrath. She is currently dating Hamnet actor Paul Mescal.

Katie Holmes just reached a new milestone in her relationship with Jason Bard Yarmosky.

The Dawson's Creek alum, 47, made her first official public appearance with Yarmosky when the pair stepped out together at a Ferragamo event at Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton, New York, on Friday, July 24.

Holmes and the New York City-based artist — who first sparked romance rumors earlier this month — stepped out in coordinating navy blue looks. Holmes stunned in a sheer button-down blouse paired with a metallic fringe skirt, black pumps, and a bright orange handbag, while Yarmosky kept things classic in a navy sweater, matching trousers, and black loafers.

When asked about their coordinating outfits, Holmes jokingly told Elle, "I think we just have similar taste."

The couple's latest outing comes just two weeks after they fueled romance speculation by attending a screening of Olivia Wilde's The Invite in the Hamptons on July 10. Holmes and Yarmosky were photographed holding hands as they headed into the theater before posing together in front of the film's poster.

While Holmes hasn't publicly spoken about her new romance or shared further details about their pairing, Yarmosky marks her first public relationship in several years.

The Gift actress was last linked to Bobby Wootten II in 2022, but the pair's romance was brief, with Holmes splitting from the musician that same year.

Before news of her romance with Yarmosky emerged, some fans had hoped Holmes would reunite with her former Dawson's Creek costar Joshua Jackson after the pair teamed up for their upcoming Happy Hours trilogy. Holmes even sparked speculation after liking an Instagram comment suggesting the longtime friends "should be a couple."

Still, both stars appear to have moved on from the fan-fueled rumors. Jackson has recently been linked to model Olivia Burgess and has described Holmes as a "lifelong friend."

More than three decades after its release, Thelma & Louise remains one of the most celebrated films of the 1990s. But before it became an Oscar-winning classic and a cultural touchstone, some critics dismissed the movie as a "horrible idea" and predicted it would never succeed.

Now, Geena Davis is looking back on the backlash the film faced before audiences proved the doubters wrong.

"A lot of the reviewers had a problem with it," Davis, 70, told Dax Shepard during a recent appearance on his Armchair Expertpodcast. "A week after it came out, [Susan Sarandon] and I were on the cover of Time. But there were two editorials denouncing the movie about 'how bad this is, this is a horrible idea,' and a lot of reviews were like, 'This is male-bashing.'"

Directed by Ridley Scott, the film follows female friends whose weekend getaway goes wrong.

"It was really frowned on," Davis added of the film's depiction of the two females as gun-toting protagonists. "It didn’t impact [the film’s] success. People really liked it and it did well."

The film, which also starred a young Brad Pitt, Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen and Christopher McDonald, went on to receive largely positive reviews.

"It reimagines the buddy film with such freshness and vigor that the genre seems positively new. It discovers unexpected resources in both its stars, Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis, who are perfectly teamed as the spirited and original title characters," the New York Times'film critic Janet Maslin wrote at the time.

In a year-end film ranking by the Washington Post, Thelma & Louise landed second behind The Silence of the Lambs as the best film of the year. It went on to earn five Academy Award nominations and took home the award for Best Original Screenplay. It was later ranked No. 78 on the American Film Institute's Top 100 Most Triumphant Films of All Time.

"I mean, I thought I was making a cowboy movie with women in trucks instead of guys with horses," Sarandon told AFI in 2003. "I don't think we understood how we were kind of backing into this heroic territory that before that had pretty much been owned by white heterosexual men of a certain age."

A rushed final hour in the studio gave disco one of its most recognizable songs.

Fifty-one years ago today, on July 26, 1975, Van McCoy and the Soul City Symphony's "The Hustle" reached No. 1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Soul Singles charts. The largely instrumental track stayed atop the Hot 100 for one week, but its place in '70s culture would last far longer.

McCoy was working on his 1975 album, Disco Baby, when his business partner, Charles Kipps Jr., visited the Adam's Apple nightclub in New York City. There, Kipps saw dancers performing the Latin Hustle, a partner dance that had developed within the city's Latino communities.

Kipps encouraged McCoy to create a song around the dance. With just one hour of studio time remaining, McCoy quickly wrote down what came to mind and recorded "The Hustle."

The dance caught his interest because it brought physical connection back to the dance floor after years in which people commonly danced separately. "It was people dancing together again," McCoy later recalled.

That simple observation became the basis of a song driven by its steady rhythm, orchestral sound and brief commands to "Do the hustle" and "Do it."

"The Hustle" also earned McCoy the Grammy Award for Pop Instrumental Performance in 1976. He received two additional nominations that year for the song and Disco Baby.

McCoy died from a heart attack in 1979 at only 39 years old, making "The Hustle" the biggest hit of a career that ended far too soon. More than half a century after its one-week stay at No. 1, the song remains instantly connected to the dance floors and disco culture of the 1970s.

LeAnn Rimes may have burst onto the country music scene with her debut cover of the ‘50s classic ballad, “Blue,” which became her breakout hit and introduced her to a national audience. But a different song took her career to new heights, cementing her status as a chart-topping star.

"There's so many people that grew up with these songs," she told The Boot in a previous interview. "People are constantly asking for these versions of the songs, because they're grown-up versions. Now, everybody who grew up with these songs gets to relate to them the way I do. There's a wisdom behind [the music].”

When Whelchel was asked recently where her iconic Facts of Life character would be these days, she instantly knew the answer.

“I can absolutely imagine her on Instagram,” Whelchel told Entertainment Weekly. “And I think she’d have a huge following, of course, because she would have lived this big, exciting life. Released in 1977, "Queens of Noise" gave an 18-year-old Joan Jett one of her earliest chances to lead a song, years before she'd become one of rock's most recognizable voices.

At the time, Jett was one of five members of the Runaways, the Los Angeles rock band that helped launch her solo career as well as Lita Ford's.

Although the band found little commercial success during its brief four-year run, fans have continued to revisit its music decades later.

The band formed when Kim Fowley, who would go on to manage the group, brought five teenagers who barely knew each other together. That lineup, Cherie Currie, Jackie Fox, Sandy West, Ford and Jett became the Runaways' most recognizable version.

When the band released its self-titled debut album in 1976, it quickly attracted attention, though not all of it was focused on the music — most of it had to do with their age and image. 

Following the success of that debut, the Runaways began work on a follow-up, Queens of Noise. By then, the band's relationship with Fowley had grown strained, and both sides agreed to bring in someone else for production. 

The Runaways tapped Earle Mankey, best known for his work with the Beach Boys, to engineer and produce the record.

Many consider "Queens of Noise" one of the strongest songs on the band's sophomore record. The album's title track carried a heavier sound than much of the Runaway's earlier work, built around a guitar solo from Ford.

It was also the only song on the record that none of the band had written themselves.

According to Jett, "Queens of Noise" was actually written by Billy Bizeau of the Quick, another band Fowley managed at the time. She also handled the song's lead vocals.

Jett previously said the title came from a line in "American Nights," off the band's debut album, while Fowley once described the song as "a great opening statement."

Queens of Noise never came close to No. 1, but it did chart, peaking at No. 172 on the Billboard 200. 

And the band itself wouldn't last much longer after that. Currie, the group's frontwoman, left in 1977, and the Runaways officially split by 1979.

Looking back, Currie said several factors contributed to the group’s breakup. “I just feel that it was all timing,” she told NME in 2019. 

“I left the band in 1977. We just weren’t getting along. Kim, towards the end of his life, used to say that if we had just hung together for one more album … and I agree with him. It was just that the timing was wrong.”

“We didn’t have proper guidance,” she continued. “When you’re 16 and 17, there’s a lot of infighting, a lot of jealousy. … We had nobody to rope us in, so kids will be kids, and we were kids.” 

Fans, though, have continued to discover "Queens of Noise" over the years. On YouTube, a live recording from the band's 1977 tour in Japan has drawn close to a million views, and viewers keep coming back to say the same things. 

"This band was so ahead of its time," one user wrote.

Another called the song "so bada**," while a third named it among their “favorite” Runaways tracks.

When Rachel Sweet released "B-A-B-Y" in 1978, she was still years away from finishing high school.

At just 15 years old, the Ohio-born singer delivered a spirited remake of the 1966 soul hit that showcased a confidence and maturity far beyond her age. The recording helped establish Sweet as one of the brightest young talents of the late 1970s, and nearly five decades later, it remains the song most closely associated with her career.

Although "B-A-B-Y" wasn't a new composition, Sweet made it entirely her own.

Originally written by Isaac Hayes and David Porter and first recorded by Carla Thomas in 1966, the song had already become a soul classic. Sweet's version traded Memphis soul for a punchier rock and new wave sound, reflecting the musical landscape of the late 1970s while preserving the infectious charm of the original.

The recording appeared on Sweet's debut album, Fool Around, released in 1978.

Produced by Liam Sternberg, the album blended rock, pop, country, and rhythm and blues, earning widespread praise from critics who were impressed by the teenager's powerful voice and natural stage presence. While many artists her age were marketed primarily as teen idols, Sweet quickly gained credibility among musicians and critics alike for her authentic performances and eclectic taste.

"B-A-B-Y" became the centerpiece of that early success.

Its upbeat rhythm, playful delivery, and Sweet's unmistakable vocals made it a favorite on new wave and college radio stations, while the song helped introduce American audiences to an artist who would later earn a devoted cult following.

"You get into a lot of trouble covering '60s songs," Sweet told The Lewiston Daily Sun in 1979. "The press says that is all you do, cover old songs. Give years from now I'll only be 21. I can't cover old songs all my life. On the next album, there won't be any at all."

Sweet's career would eventually take an unexpected turn.

After releasing several acclaimed albums, she transitioned into television and film, becoming a successful writer and producer on series including Dharma & Greg, The George Carlin Show, and Hot in Cleveland.

"I love writing, and all of my friends were writers," Sweet told Cleveland.com. "So I finally got the hint and sat down and wrote a spec script around 1996. Then the writing and producing jobs started coming my way. And producing means you're just moving up in the ranks as a writer."

Even so, her musical legacy has continued to grow, with Fool Around and "B-A-B-Y" regularly cited among the standout recordings of the late 1970s.

Nearly 50 years after its release, Rachel Sweet's version of "B-A-B-Y" still captures the youthful exuberance that made it so memorable. Recorded by a singer who was only 15 years old, the song remains a beloved rock classic and a reminder that extraordinary talent can emerge at any age.

Besides sunscreen, a water bottle is arguably the most talked-about must-have summer health accessory, at least among clinical experts. Sorry, light scarves and giant colorful beach bags, but hydration can make or break your health—not just your look.

"Hydration is important in the summer because as temperatures rise, your body sweats more, losing water and essential electrolytes," Julia Zumpano, RD, a registered dietitian at the Cleveland Clinic, tells Parade. "Without adequate rehydration, your body cannot function properly, impacting your heart and organs." 

Unfortunately, there are drinks out there labeled as "healthy" that are secretly dehydrating you. With that in mind, registered dietitians are begging people to do some digging into what they drink before they crack open a bottle of anything this summer.

"A 'healthy' label does not necessarily mean a beverage is ideal for hydration. However, most nonalcoholic drinks, including moderate amounts of coffee and tea, still contribute to total fluid intake and do not automatically cause dehydration," notes Johannah Katz, RD, a registered dietitian. "The biggest concerns are beverages containing alcohol, very large amounts of caffeine or ingredients that cause diarrhea in a particular person."

None of the above sounds fun. While one so-called healthy (and very popular) drink may not check all of those boxes, it can sneakily contribute to dehydration, especially in the summer months and if you're consuming a trendy high-protein diet. What is it? Below, registered dietitians explain the "healthy" drink that might be secretly dehydrating you this summer, why and what to sip instead.

The ‘Healthy’ Drink That’s Secretly Dehydrating You, Registered Dietitians Warn

Registered dietitians say you may become dehydrated if you drink protein shakes constantly, especially in the summer.

"With the protein craze these days, paying attention to how they may dehydrate you is particularly important," says Michelle Routhenstein, MS, RD, CDCES, CDN, a preventive cardiology dietitian at EntirelyNourished.com. "Just because a drink is marketed as healthy doesn't necessarily mean it hydrates you well."

To be clear, registered dietitians share that protein shakes do not directly dehydrate you. It's what your body does with the protein that can cause dehydration.

"The protein powder itself is not dehydrating, but it significantly increases your body's demand for water," Zumpano explains. "When your body metabolizes protein, it creates nitrogenous waste products like urea, which your kidneys must flush out through urine. If you consume extra protein without drinking more fluids, you risk dehydration."

Indeed, research also suggests that people who consume high-protein diets need more water. Also, protein shakes don't always just contain protein.

"Drinks high in caffeine, sugar or stimulants may leave you needing more water," Routhenstein says, noting some shakes have all of the above. "During the summer, relying on these beverages alone may leave you feeling thirsty, tired, lightheaded or with a headache, even though you drank something."

That doesn't mean you can never, ever have a protein shake, or that you have to avoid them in summer.

Katz reiterates that protein shakes don't automatically dehydrate most healthy people, "especially when they are mixed with water or milk." She says the protein's effect on our body and hydration "is more relevant when someone is consuming unusually large amounts of protein, already losing fluid through sweat or replacing water with concentrated shakes."

What To Eat and Drink Instead of Protein Shakes This Summer

While you don't have to swear off shakes, it's helpful to know that there are other ways to get protein and better ways to stay hydrated.

Zumpano suggests trying to get your protein through whole food sources, such as:

• Lean meats
• Eggs
• Greek yogurt
• Cottage cheese
• Legumes
• Nuts
• Seeds

Routhenstein says that hydrating drinks include:

• Plain water
• Sparkling water
• Water infused with fruit, cucumber, or herbs
• Herbal iced tea without added sugar
• Unsweetened coconut water

How To Stay Hydrated When You Love Protein Shakes

If you're not inclined to skip your protein shakes, there are ways to stay hydrated. Katz recommends:

• Blend protein shakes with adequate fluid. If you're DIY, Katz suggests using at least 8–12 ounces of water, milk or a fortified milk alternative instead of making a highly concentrated shake. "The liquid in the shake counts toward daily fluid intake," she says.
• Drink water throughout the day, not only with the shake. There's no "precise" amount of water to drink, whether you're drinking protein shakes or not, but you usually need more in the summer. "Fluid needs rise in hot weather and with physical activity, so carry a water bottle and drink regularly rather than trying to replace everything at once after becoming thirsty," Katz explains.
• Replace electrolytes when appropriate. "Water is generally sufficient for routine activity, but an electrolyte-containing drink or salty food may be useful after prolonged rigorous exercise or several hours of heavy sweating," Katz says.
• Check the ingredient list. If you have specific dietary concerns or digestive issues, you'll want to take extra care when selecting a protein shake. "Someone who experiences bloating or diarrhea after a shake may need a lactose-free protein, a different sweetener or fewer sugar alcohols," she says. "Checking for patterns with ingredients and symptoms can be helpful for those individuals."

Know the Signs of Dehydration

Zumpano says it's important to understand the signs of mild to moderate or severe dehydration because your action plan will differ depending on which form you're experiencing. Signs of mild to moderate dehydration include:

• Extreme thirst
• Dry mouth, lips and tongue
• Dark yellow or amber-colored urine
• Urinating less frequently than usual
• Dizziness or lightheadedness
• Fatigue or sleepiness
• Headaches or muscle cramps 

"For mild dehydration, sip on 16-24 ounces of water or electrolyte-rich fluids per hour," Zumpano urges. "Avoid alcohol, caffeine and large amounts of sugar-sweetened beverages, which can increase fluid losses."

She says that severe dehydration is a medical emergency and includes symptoms like:

• Confusion, lethargy or altered mental state
• Fainting or loss of consciousness
• Rapid heartbeat and fast breathing
• Sunken eyes
• Skin that lacks elasticity (does not bounce back when pinched)
• No urination for 8 or more hours

"If you are exhibiting symptoms of severe dehydration, like high fever, unresponsiveness, rapid pulse or seizures, call 911 or go to the emergency room immediately," Zumpano emphasizes.

A rare video of one of Survivor's most beloved players is making the rounds online, and longtime fans have plenty to say.

A clip circulating on Instagram shows James Clement reuniting with notorious SurvivorvillainRussell Hantz during a fan meet-up on Saturday, July 25. The video shows Hantz turning the camera toward Clement as he eats, encouraging him to greet viewers. 

"They want to see you, James. Say hi to your fans," Hantz says in the clip. Clement simply smiles toward the phone while continuing to eat, staying mostly silent—but the brief interaction immediately caught attention given how rarely the two-time fan favorite has been seen in recent years.

“Wow, we haven't seen james in a minute,” another shared.

“James and Russell, Big Dogs of Survivors,” one person wrote.

”With Russell?! Is he okay?!” a third fan quipped, 

Ahead of the reunion, Hantz also shared a TikTok teasing the meet-up, joking, "Who are the only 2 2-time fan favorites in the history of the game?" He answered, "Me and James Clement," before adding, "Remember how popular James–James was the man. I don't know why he's not back."

Clement, one of the franchise's most popular contestants, competed on Survivor: China, Survivor: Micronesia—Fans vs. Favorites, and Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains. He won the Fan Favorite award after both China and Micronesia, earning his place as one of the show's most beloved castaways.

Hantz, meanwhile, became one of the most polarizing players in Survivor history thanks to his back-to-back appearances on Survivor: Samoa and Heroes vs. Villains. Although he never won the game, his aggressive strategy made him one of the franchise's most talked-about villains. Even the host of the show, Jeff Probst, publicly shared his opinion on Hantz, revealing on Live withKelly & Mark in 2025 that he thinks Hantz “really is a bad guy.”

The pair later appeared together on Heroes vs. Villains, with Clement competing on the Heroes tribe while Hantz, appropriately, represented the Villains.

Where is James Clement now?

Although he has made the occasional appearance at Survivor events over the years, Clement has largely stayed out of the public eye and has shown little interest in remaining active within the franchise, despite fans' wishes.

It's said that when you have an important meeting or appointment, if you're not early, you're late. By aiming to arrive early, you leave time for any traffic that might arise or issues that may come up on the way, ensuring that you'll still make it on time.

Conversely, when it comes to attending a party, it's pretty common to turn up "fashionably late"—a tactic that I'm personally a fan of. That way, I know I won't be the first one there and have to make awkward chit-chat with the host.

However, what about showing up to a party early? For the punctual people among us, being the first one at a party and having to help set the table is probably not a foreign concept. But is showing up to a party early rude?

To help make sense of this topic, Parade spoke with Sydney Dunn, a North Carolina-based etiquette instructor and the founder of Sydney Dunn Etiquette. And according to her, the answer to this question depends on what type of party you're attending and how early you arrive.

Is It Rude To Show up to a Party Early?

In most cases, yes, it is rude to show up to a party early, according to Dunn. However, this topic isn't black and white, and there is a lot of nuance to consider.

"We're conditioned to think early equals polite—and most of the time, that's true," Dunn tells Parade. "Few etiquette rules are truly hard and fast, and this is no exception. How early is too early depends entirely on where the party is and who's hosting it. Context is everything."

What Is the Ideal Time To Show up to a Party?

According to Dunn, the ideal time to arrive at a party "depends on the setting."

For your typical parties at venues and people's homes, you should never arrive early.

More specifically, when attending a party at a bar, restaurant or other venue, Dunn says you should arrive "right on time."

"Any later and you risk holding up the group's ordering or disrupting the flow of the event," she adds.

This might include a graduation dinner in a restaurant, a birthday party in a bar, a Bat Mitzvah reception at a catering hall or an engagement soiree at a country club.

As for parties in someone's home, Dunn says the "sweet spot" is always five to 10 minutes after the start time.

"Whatever you do, never arrive early to someone's home—most hosts need every last minute for those final touches," the etiquette instructor explains. "If you've left early enough to account for traffic and find yourself outside with time to spare, sit in your car or circle the block."

However, for more formal gatherings and events, you actually should arrive a bit early.

This rule is most crucial when going to a wedding.

"Arriving 'on time' to a wedding is actually arriving late," warns Dunn. "When an invitation says the ceremony begins at 4 p.m., that means the grandmothers are being escorted down the aisle at 4 p.m., so plan to be in your seat 15–30 minutes before the ceremony begins—more if parking or a long walk is involved."

And at any professional gathering, such as a client lunch, a meal with superiors or a networking event, aim to arrive five to 10 minutes early.

"This is where arriving early actually signals that you're prepared and on top of things," she explains.

How Early Is Too Early To Arrive at a Party?

How early is too early to arrive depends on the nature of the event.

Even though it's best to show up early to a wedding, you don't want to be early enough that you risk catching the staff placing programs on chairs or seeing the bridal party running around. According to Dunn, anything more than 45 minutes early "is probably too early" for a wedding.

At a restaurant or event venue, "30 minutes early is pushing it and likely unnecessary."

And for a party or gathering at someone's home, "even one minute early is too early," she advises. "Five to 10 minutes late is perfectly acceptable and, honestly, probably preferred."

Is It Better To Show up Early or Late to a Party?

Whether it's better to get to a party early or late "genuinely depends on the type of event and venue," says Dunn.

For weddings, "early is the only acceptable answer," she shares. For events at bars or restaurants, "on time is the right time." And for a house party, "a few minutes late is the polite choice."

Overall, Dunn believes "context is everything" when it comes to what time you should show up at a party. Use your common sense, leave plenty of time for your journey to the event and you'll surely arrive at a respectful time.

Three decades since Girl Power took the world by storm, Spice Girls' former manager, Chris Herbert, spilled some behind-the-scenes gossip to Betway.

He was the son of Bob Herbert, a music talent manager, and set up his own company aged 21. Their first project in 1994, was to make an all-girl pop group. He ultimately auditioned 600 girls before narrowing it down to Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham.

How The Spice Girls Were Formed

Herbert spoke to the outlet about putting together the girlband, along with the strengths and weaknesses of each girl. Herbert revealed that Mel B "really stood out" during auditions. “Initially, it was her look,” he recalled.

“She stood out in the crowd. She dressed the part, looked cool, looked confident and carried herself brilliantly. Then I started talking to her. The remarkable thing is that Mel B hasn’t really changed since the day I met her. Over the years, they’ve all naturally grown into their public personas, but Mel B has always been exactly who she is," he explained, calling the singer and reality TV judge "down-to-earth" and "never pulls any punches."

He also noted how differently Victoria Beckham "carried herself" during her audition. "There was a grace and maturity about her that stood out immediately. She sang "Mein Herr" from Cabaret, which was a really unusual choice because everyone else was performing current pop songs. She felt comfortable singing something completely different. She was lovely, really charming, and I was very impressed.”

When asked who had to work harder on their singing and dancing, Herbert admitted Geri Horner (then known as Halliwell) wasn't a "natural." But, despite her lack of natural popstar abilities, their former manager admitted she "embraced the challenge" and put the work in.

He previously told Febe that Geri had the "X-factor" when she walked into the room. "In my career, I’ve never worked with anyone as ambitious and driven as Geri. If she walked into a room of 50 people, she’d have this internal heat-seeking camera that picked out the ones who could make a difference to her career."

The manager also worked with Five, Hear'Say, B*Witched and Honeyz, although he is still best known for putting together the Spice Girls. What did creating one of the most famous bands in pop music history teach him? Well, that you can't fast-track the process and rush perfection.

"Whenever we’ve skipped that groundwork, it’s caused problems further down the line because the group hasn’t had the time to become a proper unit," Herbert explained.

He added: "Eventually, cracks started to appear because the foundations were never properly built. With the Spice Girls, that year of development was absolutely fundamental to the success they went on to achieve."

Despite putting the band together, the Spice Girls walked away from Chris Herbert after just eighteen months.

The girlband wanted to jump straight into a single and tour, while Herbert had other plans. “They became frustrated because we’d rehearse the same routine every day. Drilling and drilling, vocal coaches, choreography. Ultimately, there was a mutiny. They walked out," he told Febe. 

The split hurt Chris as he and the girls had formed a genuine friendship. “But I didn’t feel bitter because I knew I could repeat the process. So, I vowed to myself: I’m going to do this again.”

Kevin Smith nearly died from a "widowmaker" heart attack in 2018. After dropping around 100 pounds, he's looking happy, healthy, and better than ever.

Smith, 55, rose to stardom as an actor and director in his films Clerks, Mallrats, Dogma, and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. The beloved filmmaker struggled with his weight for years, hitting around 330 pounds at his heaviest. But when he suffered a "widowmaker" heart attack in 2018 and almost died, he quickly learned he would have to make some serious changes to survive.

Eight years later, Smith is thriving. The director and actor hit the stage at 2026 Comic-Con International for "An Evening With Kevin Smith." The fun event, which took place at the San Diego Convention Center, showed the svelte star onstage as he engaged with the audience.

He Says Having a Heart Attack Was a 'Gift'

Back in 2022, Smith told PEOPLE that going through the harrowing heart attack experience was “the greatest gift I ever had."

"Not only did it save my life, make me go vegan and go healthier and stuff, but it gave me the spine for Clerks III," he said at the time. "I was making peace with the fact that this could be it," he recalled, looking back on when the doctor told him he had an 80 percent chance of dying.

How Did Kevin Smith Lose the Weight?

Smith became a spokesman for Weight Watchers and adopted a strict vegan diet that doesn't allow sugar. But he also stays active with daily walks with his pup. Instead of a home gym of his own, he enjoys getting outside and walking the hills of his neighborhood.

Ultimately, it was the input of his daughter that inspired him to change his eating habits.

“After I had my heart attack…I went vegan, because my kid has been vegan for three years prior to that,” he told TMZ. “And I watched her do it, and I was always like, ‘Oh, what a waste of time … you can’t eat anywhere.’ And she was like, ‘No, I just can’t eat at the places you always bring me.’”

Smith noted that his daughter strongly asked him to change his ways.

“She was like, ‘Please do this for me,’” he said.

Beloved Swedish pop-rock duo Roxette has announced an unfortunate update on its North American tour, which was scheduled for later this year.

In a social media post published on July 25, the "It Must Have Been Love" hitmakers revealed that Live Nation has canceled its 40th anniversary tour "due to logistics and hugely increased touring costs."

"Lena, I and the band are of course disappointed. We were really looking forward to this northamerican tour and US is by far our biggest streaming market," founding member Per Gessle wrote in an Instagram post. "This decision was made by Live Nation USA, which they probably based on their own calculations. I hope we can play for our fab fans in the USA and Canada at some point in the near future."

The tour was due to kick off in Clarkston, MI on Sept. 10 and conclude in Auburn, WA on Oct. 9, with stops in Montreal, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and more, along the way. In celebration of Roxette's four-decade-long career, the duo was set to play its many No. 1 hits, including "The Look," "Listen to Your Heart," and "The Joyride," with support from Taylor Dayne and Nick Lowe & the Los Straitjackets.

Fans shared their disappointment upon hearing the news.

"I’m so sad!!," one person wrote. "I learned English with your songs, was so looking forward to seeing you❤️."

"This is a bummer, Per. I saw Roxette in San Francisco 2012," said another. "Hands down my most favorite concert! I wasn't going to be able to make it to this tour, sadly, but I'm sorry for all my fellow Roxers who were."

Formed in 1986, Roxette is Sweden's second-best-selling musical act after ABBA. The line-up originally consisted of Gessle and Marie Fredriksson.

Fredriksson's died in 2019 following complications from cancer, a few years after she announced that she would be retiring from touring. The band reformed in May 2024, with  Lena Philipsson taking on lead vocals.

Fifty-three years ago, the Bay City Rollers gave "Saturday Night" its first try, but it didn't take off. A few years later, with a new lineup and a teenage frontman, a re-recorded version of the song became the band's biggest hit in America. 

Brothers Derek and Alan Longmuir were among the musicians who first formed the band in Scotland in the mid-'60s. The group went through several early lineup and name changes before settling on the Bay City Rollers.

It took a few years to find their footing, but the band broke through in 1971 with "Keep On Dancing," a cover of a '60s tune by The Gentrys that climbed to No. 9 in the U.K. 

Not every song caught on. The band's first version of "Saturday Night," written by the songwriting duo Bill Martin and Phil Coulter, came out in 1973 with Gordon "Nobby" Clark on lead vocals. It failed to chart. 

Around the same time, the band's lineup was changing. Leslie McKeown replaced Clark as lead singer, while guitarist Stuart "Woody" Wood joined the group, replacing John Devine.

McKeown was just 18 when he joined. Together with brothers Alan and Derek and guitarist Eric Faulkner, they formed what would become the band's classic lineup.

After "Remember" reached No. 6 in the U.K. in 1974, the Bay City Rollers continued their hot streak with hits such as "Shang-A-Lang," "Summerlove Sensation" and "All of Me Loves All of You."

With the Bay City Rollers riding high in the U.K., the band set its sights on breaking into the American market.

Music executive Clive Davis selected "Saturday Night" for the group's first U.S. recording, according to McKeown.

"When we came to America, it was strange," he recalled to Rock Club 40. "At that time in 1975 /76, there were bands that were big in the U.K; bands like Sweet who went to America and not had the kind of success that they probably expected. We were kind of nervous because we thought 'We'll never get big in America!'”

It didn't take long for Davis' bet to pay off. “When I joined the band, he picked that song for our first recording in the U.S.A. and it just stormed to No. 1 and we came into America on a No. 1 record,” McKeown continued. 

“We thought 'What?! Life can't get any better! A helicopter picked us up from the airport and swooped into Madison Square Gardens which was filled with adoring fans. It was just the best thing ever!"

This time, with McKeown on vocals, the re-recorded version far outperformed the original. Released as a U.S. single in the fall of 1975, "Saturday Night" climbed the charts and reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 1976. 

"Saturday Night" turned out to be the first of several U.S. hits for the Bay City Rollers. "Money Honey" and "You Made Me Believe in Magic" followed, and the band ultimately racked up five more Top 40 songs in America.

Then, almost as quickly as it had taken off, the band's popularity began to decline. The classic lineup didn't hold together much longer. 

Alan left in 1976 and was replaced by Ian Mitchell, who was later replaced by Pat McGlynn. Alan eventually returned in 1978, but by then McKeown had also left the group. 

The band rebranded as The Rollers and carried on for a few more years with new singer Duncan Faure, but their biggest hits were already behind them.

Judas Priest kicked off their "Faithkeepers" world tour Saturday night in Mönchengladbach, Germany, and longtime fans got a genuine surprise buried inside an otherwise familiar set.

The band's 17-song set at BOBfest drew heavily from '80s staples like Screaming for Vengeance and British Steel, but also dipped as far back as 1976's "Victim of Changes" and as recent as 2024's "Panic Attack."

The real headline for die-hard fans, though, was the return of two deep cuts, "The Ripper" and "Delivering the Goods," both back in the setlist for the first time since 2019.

Reaction from fans online was mixed, but largely positive once the surprises sank in. One fan called seeing "Desert Plains and the ripper" a genuine highlight, while another admitted the set was "pretty solid, but safe."

Several longtime attendees pointed out that even a "safe" Priest setlist still delivers real rarities depending on where fans are seeing them: one commenter noted that "Halls of Valhalla hasn't been a regular part of concerts in Europe since 2015," while "Genocide hasn't been played in Europe since the late '70s and early '80s," meaning the set carried genuine significance for European fans specifically, even if some songs had appeared more recently in the U.S.

Not everyone was thrilled with the song selection. Given the tour's "Faithkeepers" name, several fans expected a heavier focus on 1984's Defenders of the Faith, only to find just one song from that album included. "'Faithkeepers' with a single DotF song is crazy!" one commenter wrote, while another admitted disappointment that anticipated 50th and 40th anniversary tributes to Sad Wings of Destiny and Turbo didn't fully materialize as some had hoped.

Despite some grumbling over setlist choices, several longtime attendees noted that even a set built mostly around hits still delivered rarities worth traveling for.
