Terrifying Philadelphia Mascot Gritty Chases Down Pittsburgh Fan In Hilarious Viral Video

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 2:49pm

Philadelphia Flyers mascot Gritty leaned into his persona as a chaotic, slightly terrifying creature in a hilarious viral video that shows him chasing down a Pittsburgh fan.

The video, posted on the official ESPNTikTok account, shows the camera jumping back and forth between a woman in a Pittsburgh Penguins jersey running down a hallway and close-ups of Gritty's face as he chases after her. The text on the video reads, "Helping a random Pittsburgh fan get home pt 1," and the caption says, "Girl run faster" with a crying face emoji.

The comments are flooded with sentiments about how genuinely terrifying this hockey mascot is. One commenter wrote, "Being chased by Gritty would make a good horror movie," and another said, "Five Nights of Gritty," a reference to the horror franchise Five Nights at Freddy's. One comment said, "God I love Gritty but I never want to be near him."

Ominously, although the video refers to itself as part one, no additional parts seem to have been posted, suggesting that Gritty might be ready to strike again.

While this might seem like odd behavior from the typical hockey mascot, this is very on-brand for Gritty, who was introduced in 2018 and quickly skyrocketed to internet stardom, with appearances on shows like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallonin the weeks following his shocking debut. Previously, the Philadelphia Flyers had no official mascot, save for the appearance of Slapshot, the team's only other mascot, who existed for just one season, from 1976 to 1977.

Since his debut, Gritty has, of course, been present at Flyers games, but he has also kept a social media presence and had a range of public appearances, all while maintaining his unusual persona as a terrifying, unidentified monster who, evidently, will chase down fans of the opposite team if given the chance.

Steph Curry Explains Why Retirement Isn’t on His Mind

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 2:43pm

Steph Curryis not looking to step away from the court anytime soon.

The NBA star told People on Monday, Feb. 16, that when thinking about retirement, "It’ll declare itself, whenever the time comes to call it quits, which I don’t think is anytime soon."

Curry, who has played 17 seasons with the Golden State Warriors, says, "I’m not really putting too much pressure on that."

"Thinking about the end robs you of the now," he told People. "I’m enjoying the journey of competing and all the work that goes into it. Hopefully that carries me a long way."

Curry hopes to continue to redefine what longevity looks like and break barriers in the NBA.

“It is a badge of honor to now be the oldest player doing all of these great things. To redefine what greatness looks like at this age," he said.

Curry continued, "Every time you do something cool, it’s like, ‘Oh, you’re the oldest to do such and such’ or ‘You’re the oldest point guard to fill in the blank. So I wear all of those things like a badge of honor, because I know how much work goes into it— to play this game that I love."

Curry is a four-time NBA champion, two-time MVP, and Olympic gold medalist. He is also a father to four children, Riley, 13, Ryan, 10, Canon, 7, and 21-month-old Caius with his wife Ayesha Curry.

“It used to be that whenever I was in a jersey, they would call me Stephen, and when I wasn’t in a jersey, I was daddy. They ask a lot more questions. They know your schedule: ‘How many games is it?’ or ‘Who are you playing?'" Curry said. "I love being able to share that part of my life with them."

Robert Duvall Knew His Value! Inside His Net Worth at the Time of His Death

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 2:42pm

Even when he wasn't first on the call sheet, Robert Duvall was always a commanding character actor—and he expected his salaries to reflect as much.

Thanks to his powerful performances in supporting roles, Duvall was nicknamed "Hollywood's No. 1 No. 2 actor," with his Godfather director Francis Ford Coppolagushing, "He's one of the four or five best actors in the world."

For all of his critical acclaim, Duvall, who passed away on Feb. 15, 2026, at age 95, didn't chase fame the way he believed some of his leading man peers did.

"To be a [Steve] McQueen or a [Robert] Redford, I don't know," he told PEOPLE IN 1977. "They do the same thing all the time. They do themselves, and that must get boring."

In fact, he actually wanted to take a break and "hang out" with friends on the east coast when he was arguably at his career peak, but admitted, "I feel that there is this big invisible finger beckoning me West once again. If I get good parts I'll start traveling again, but I'll have mixed feelings about it. Ten years ago, people were saying I should have been further along, but it didn't bother me. Maybe I needed time to ripen. I'm really ripe for a lot of things right now."

He was ripe—and he was rich as a result. Find out Robert Duvall's net worth at the time of his death and how he earned it.

How did Robert Duvall become famous?

Duvall's told PEOPLE in 1977 that his family expected him to join the Navy and follow in the footsteps of his father, who was an admiral. Unfortunately for them but fortunately for everyone who's ever gotten to see him onscreen, that didn't work out the way his brood expected.

"I was terrible at everything but acting," he admitted. "I could barely get through school."

When he graduated from high school, Duvall enlisted in the army and served in the Korean War. When he returned home from his military service, his parents agreed that maybe, just maybe, he ought to give acting a go.

While waiting for his big break, Duvall worked day jobs, including as a sales clerk at Macy's, a truck driver and a mail sorter at the post office. To keep expenses low, he also had some roommates who were also trying to make their marks as actors: Gene Hackman and, occasionally, Dustin Hoffman (who he said would crash on their floor).

Duvall began his work in theater in the 1950s, and thanks to the G.I. Bill, studied under famed acting instructor Sanford Meisner (of "the Meisner technique") in New York City in 1955. Meisner reportedly called Duvall one of the best students he ever taught.

Duvall had bit and guest roles in TV for years on shows including Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Twilight Zone, The Fugitive, The Mod Squad, The Outer Limits, The Untouchables and more.

His big break finally came in 1962 when he made his big screen debut, starring as Boo Radley in the film adaptation of the Harper Lee classic To Kill a Mockingbird. He followed with more small roles, as well as another star turn as villain "Lucky" Ned Pepper in the original True Grit (1969).

In 1970, Duvall earned critical acclaim for his guest arc on M*A*S*H as Major Frank Burns. His true break into the A-list, however, came two years later, when he first starred as Tom Hagen in The Godfather (1972).

What was Robert Duvall's net worth when he died?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Robert Duvall's net worth at the time of his death was estimated at a cool $50 million.

Duvall's salary for the 1989 miniseries Lonesome Dove isn't publicly known. While he said he loved his role of Texas Ranger Augustus "Gus" McCrae, the actual process and production left much to be desired for him, in part because of white washing in the cast. He told the Los Angeles Times in 1989 that he had a Comanche actor in mind for the part of Blue Duck, but that the network and studio went with Frederic Forrest instead. The man was an ally in the fight for representation before there was language for it!

"They wanted a name. Somebody suggested Rudolf Nureyev; somebody else wanted Klaus Kinski," Duvall recalled. "I mean, it was ridiculous. Now, Freddy did all right in the part, but Freddy was not right for the part, and he knew that. And when they brought him in, they didn’t give him a chance to prepare—the poor guy was frantic."

Despite his gripes with the production, Duvall actually didn't leave the miniseries at all, completing his work as Augustus "Gus" McCrae and generally remaining a consummate professional. It worked out well, as he received a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Miniseries or Film and an Emmy nod for the project.

How much did Robert Duvall make for The Godfather? Robert Duvall as Tom Hagen in The Godfather (1972)

Duvall had a supporting role as Tom Hagen, Don Vito Corleone's softspoken adopted son, attorney and general voice of reason in The Godfather (1972). Duvall reportedly only made $36,000 for the first installment of The Godfather trilogy in 1972. While that doesn't sound like much today, when adjusted for inflation, that was equivalent to about $285,000, which was a pretty big payday for a role that size in a movie with such a stellar and sprawling cast.

In addition to a health pay check, Duvall also garnered critical acclaim for his portrayal of Hagen, a Mafia consigliere whose German-Irish heritage prohibited him from ever becoming a fully made man. He earned a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nod for his work in the film.

Duvall reportedly got a huge pay bump for The Godfather Part II (1974), pocketing a cool $500,000 to reprise his role as Hagen.

How much was Robert Duvall offered for Godfather III?

To put it simply, as far as Duvall was concerned, he wasn't offered nearly enough money to come back for The Godfather Part III (1993). He turned down reprising the role of Hagen because of how major the pay disparity between him and Al Pacino was. (Pacino reportedly made $8 million, plus $50,000 per day for reshoots, and admitted he only did the movie at all for the cash. Duvall said he was only offered $1 million.)

"If they paid Pacino twice what they paid me, that’s fine, but not three or four times, which is what they did," Duvall told 60 Minutes (via NBC News). "[Coppola] came to my farm, parked his car ... went in the kitchen. [I] said, ‘I know you always wanted the crab cake recipe, let me cook it for you.’ Oh, he loves to eat, so I cooked the crab cake ... and he wrote it down ... and he forgot it, so he called twice. He was ... more concerned that he forgot the crab cake recipe than would I be in Godfather III."

For his part, Pacino wished Duvall were in the movie and that Coppola would've chalked up the change for him.

"His absence from Part III was a big miss," Pacino wrote in his memoir Sonny Boy (via PEOPLE). "With so much of the film depending on his character, none of us knew what to do without him. Francis and Mario had to reconstruct the story, but they were brilliant writers and changed the whole script around."

1976 Album Just Earned First Ever 'Quadruple Diamond' RIAA Status 50 Years Later

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 2:37pm

Fifty years after its release—February 17, 1976—Their Greatest Hits 1971–1975 by the Eagles just made history. Again.

The 1976 collection has officially become the first album ever to receive quadruple diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), marking 40 million units sold in the United States.

RELATED: Don Henley Reveals The Eagles’ Darkest Turning Point

That milestone cements the album’s place as the biggest album in RIAA history in terms of U.S. sales and streams.

Originally released in February 1976, the set spent five weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and has logged an astonishing 514 weeks on the all-genre albums chart. The track list pulls from the band’s first four studio albums and includes “Take It Easy,” “Desperado,” “Take It to the Limit” and their first-ever Billboard Hot 100 No. 1, “Best of My Love.”

At 40 million units, the album becomes the first ever to cross that threshold under the RIAA’s certification system. (For context, one equivalent album unit equals one physical album sale, 10 track downloads, or 1,500 on-demand streams.)

RELATED: This ‘Monumental Flop’ Was Named the ‘Worst Eagles Solo Album Ever’

The Eagles now hold two of the three biggest albums in RIAA history. Their 1976 studio album Hotel California was recently upgraded to 28-times platinum, placing it third overall. Michael Jackson’sThriller sits between the two projects at 34-times platinum.

In a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Don Henley reflected on the band’s remarkable longevity.

“Our first record came out in ’72. Fifty-three years of playing for people,” Henley said. “So it’s been a miraculous run.”

Henley has also joked that the title Greatest Hits was never quite accurate.

RELATED: The Eagles Make History With Latest Announcement

“‘Greatest hits’ is kind of a misnomer; it should just be called their best songs, because every song on that album was not a great hit,” he said. “'Desperado,' for example, was never released as a single.”

The album’s enduring appeal is part of why the band continues to draw massive crowds at their Las Vegas Sphere residency, where Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit perform alongside Vince Gill and Glenn Frey’sson, Deacon Frey.

“We say that music is medicine,” Henley said. “And people need some medicine right now.”

Nearly half a century later, millions of listeners clearly agree.

1976 No. 1 Hit Song Was So Good, a TV Show Was Renamed Before It Was Released

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 2:32pm

In the mid-1960s,  John Sebastian was best known as the co-founder and singer of the Lovin’ Spoonful. The New York City-based folk rock band released several popular songs, including “Do You Believe in Magic,” “Summer in the City,” and “Daydream.”

By 1968, Sebastian left the band to focus on a solo career. Fast forward a few years, and what would become his signature song not only became a radio hit but was an iconic TV show theme song as well.

Sebastian’s solo song, “Welcome Back,” reached No. 1 on The Billboard Hot 100 in May 1976, just five weeks after it was released as a single. It also ranked as Billboard’s 58th biggest song of the year.

The song was written as the theme for the sitcomWelcome Back, Kotter, which premiered in September 1975 on ABC. But before Sebastian penned the theme song, the series was simply titled Kotter.

How Sebastian got involved

Speaking with the Indian River Guardianin 2015, Sebastian explained, “I was looking for work, and a TV producer called me and said, ‘I got this story, a real Brooklyn kind of a thing, but I figure if I’m going to hire anybody to write a theme song, it’s got to be guys from New York. We’ve got Dion DiMucci writing one; could you write one too?’”

“I got together with the producer, and he gave me a rough demo and a few scripts to read,” Sebastian continued. “I made a demo, and 48 hours later, I came back to him. They were so excited about the song, 'Welcome Back,' that they changed the name of the show from Kotter to Welcome Back, Kotter."

John Sebastian connected with the Sweathogs

Welcome Back, Kotter starred Gabe Kaplan as a Brooklyn high school teacher in a classroom comprised of remedial students known as "The Sweathogs.”  John Travolta co-starred in the series along with Robert Hegyes, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, and Ron Palillo.

Sebastian once revealed how he was able to connect with the TV theme song project.

“I went to a meeting where I was shown rough cuts of early shows, and I got it,” he told  Songwriter Universe in 2023. “It was a very easy thing to come up with. I went home and made a toy version of a song that sucked, but the end of the song had ‘Welcome back, welcome back.’ And so I said, 'Wait a minute…I’m going to save that part.' And so eventually I had the two-and-a-half minutes that was required for the song. Then I went back in there the next day and played them the song. And they were startled. They asked, 'How did you come up with this so fast?'”

“And I said, “Guys, you’re forgetting…I was the Sweathog,” Sebastian shared. “It’s true—as a dyslexic kid, I was always the guy with those marks [where the teacher says] ‘John seems to be an intelligent boy,’ and then the rest wasn’t as flattering. So that’s how that song came to be.”

Cynthia Erivo Responds to Speculation She and Ariana Grande 'Were Lovers'

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 2:16pm

Cynthia Erivois addressing the fan speculation around her close relationship with Wicked and Wicked: For Good co-starAriana Grande.

In a recent interview with Stylist, Erivo responded to the internet's strange rumors surrounding the nature of her relationship with Grande.

"At first, I think people didn't understand how it was possible for two women to be friends — close — and not lovers," she said. "There was this strange fascination with the two of us, where people either thought we were putting it on for the cameras or that we were lovers."

Erivo describes her relationship with Grande as "so deep" that it left some people to be "uncomfortable."

"I think it's because there's such little conversation around platonic female friendship that is deep and real, even though it exists everywhere," Erivo said. "We're not used to seeing it on camera, in front of people."

She continued, "A relationship where people are connected sometimes just makes people uncomfortable; we aren't taught that those relationships are good for us."

Grande has also spoken candidly about her very close bond with Erivo. In a 2024 episode of Podcrushed, Grande shared, "To have the love that we have and trust that we have and deep love that we have for each other ... I think it all kind of happened the way it did because of that, and because we were supposed to be in each other's lives. I really do. I love her so much."

The announcement marks the next step in the band's rise, promising a fresh glimpse into their evolving sound and style. While details are still limited, snippets shared on social media suggest that "Angel" will lean into the emotional, heartfelt side of the band's music.

The boys—Cruz Lee‑Ojo, Danny Bretherton, Hendrik Christoffersen, John Fadare, Josh Olliver, Nicolas Alves, and Seán Hayden—have shared three Instagram posts so far teasing the song. One post is simply a picture of a pink envelope that reads, "Dear Angels," mysteriously captioned, "..… 💌👀." Another Instagram post of the set list for their sold-out tour, which kicks off today, includes "Angel" as last on the list.

A third photo shared on Instagram seems to be some of the lyrics to "Angel" ahead of the boy band's debut shows this week. It reads:

"I wanna be the one that makes you smile. I wanna be the one you think about when you fall asleep. I wanna tell you, but I don't know how. The one that you should love is me. Oh angel, oh angel. Don't you know that you're flying too low? Oh angel, oh angel. You can see what you want, but, baby, I know. Oh angel, you're flying too low..."

December 10 also leaked a portion of the song in an Instagram story sharing the lyrics post, and fans have been responding with excitement, praising the polished vocals and emotional delivery, which have already become hallmarks of December 10's performances.

"Love it already," one fan commented. "Can't wait for the full song!"

Those who attended the kick-off Glasgow show today were the first to have a chance to hear the new song live. Many of those fans, and even more across the world, are begging the boys to "please release this now" so they can start playing it "on repeat."

A Look Back at 'Lonesome Dove,' Which Made Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones Household Names

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 2:13pm

When news broke of Robert Duvall’s death broke on Feb. 16, fans quickly turned their attention to one of his most beloved performances: Lonesome Dove. The epic Western miniseries, which aired on CBS in 1989, not only became a pop culture phenomenon, it also helped turn Duvall andTommy Lee Jones into true household names.

Related: Tommy Lee Jones Honors ‘Lonesome Dove’ Costar Robert Duvall After Death

The story was based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Larry McMurtry and followed two retired Texas Rangers, Augustus “Gus” McCrae (played by Duvall) and Woodrow F. Call (played by Jones), as they led a cattle drive from Texas to Montana.

What could have been a straightforward Western became an emotional story about friendship, regret, and love, and it's stood the test of time as a fan-favorite, still sitting at an average Rotten Tomatoes rating of 10.0/10 and a Tomatometer score of 98% nearly four decades later.

Duvall’s portrayal of the charming and witty Gus has been cited as one of the greatest performances in television history. He perfectly balanced his warmth and humor with Jones’ stoic, disciplined character (a precursor to his Agent K in Men in Black), creating one of the most dynamic duos in history. The chemistry between the two actors was also profound, and the show's director, Simon Wincer, even credited it with some of the series' most iconic moments.

"In the scene when Call comes to visit Gus on his deathbed... It’s just extraordinarily powerful," he recalled to Cowboys & Indians in an interview for the show's 25th anniversary. "You have these two great actors. And we literally shot it in two and a half hours... We had magic... Gus’ dying moment—that was all Bobby’s idea. He seems to fade away, but then he wakes up again. And I think his last line is, 'It’s been quite a party.' Just amazing."

Upon its release, Lonesome Dove was a massive ratings success, drawing more than 30 million viewers and winning seven Emmy Awards (and 18 nominations!) It also sparked a renewed interest in prestige TV miniseries that's carried into today in shows like American Crime Story.

In the years since, Lonesome Dove has remained a staple of Western television, frequently rewatched, quoted, and recommended to new generations. For many fans, it stands as the definitive modern Western, and for Duvall, it remains the role most closely associated with his legacy.

Duvall died on Feb. 15, 2026, and his wife, Luciana Duvall, shared the news on his Facebook page. "Yesterday we said goodbye to my beloved husband, cherished friend, and one of the greatest actors of our time. Bob passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and comfort," she wrote in the statement.

"To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply everything," she continued. "His passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, a great meal, and holding court. For each of his many roles, Bob gave everything to his characters and to the truth of the human spirit they represented. In doing so, he leaves something lasting and unforgettable to us all. Thank you for the years of support you showed Bob and for giving us this time and privacy to celebrate the memories he leaves behind."

Beloved ‘90s Band Adds Dates, Additional Artists to Their First-Ever Festival

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 2:11pm

Sublime’s first foray into the festival world as headliners and hosts just got bigger.

The beloved ‘90s alternative rock band just announced additional dates on their Me Gusta Festival with some new acts joining the party.

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

The two new dates are June 27 at Waterfront Park in Portland, Ore. and July 18 at Zions Bank Stadium in Salt Lake City. Both dates will feature two stages.

Joining Sublime in Portland on the main stage will be veteran hip-hop trio Cypress Hill and fast-rising punk outfit the Interrupters, Long Beach Dub All Stars, Codefendants, DIZZYISDEAD and others. Jakobs Castle, Strange Case and more will be featured on the SVN/BVRNT Stage.

The Salt Lake City date will feature Sublime’s punk rock-reggae brethren Slightly Stoopid and veteran punk group Pennywise, Long Beach Dub All Stars, The Ataris, and Codefendants on the main stage with Jakobs Castle, Strange Case and more on the SVN/BVRNT Stage.

View this post on Instagram

On both of those dates, members of Sublime will be doing double duty. The Long Beach Dub All Stars feature Sublime members Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh, while Jakobs Castle, includes Sublime frontman Jakob Nowell.

As previously reported, the Sublime Me Gusta Festival debuts May 9 at Panther Island Pavilion in Fort Worth, Texas with Sublime, Slightly Stoopid, Long Beach Dub Allstars, The Ataris, Codefendants, and HR of Bad Brains on the main stage, along with sets from Jakobs Castle, Strange Case and more on the SVN/BVRNT Stage.

The Fort Worth and Portland dates will also include a craft beer sampling as a ticket add-on for those 21 and over. It will offer the best national, regional and local craft beers, hard seltzer and cider from noon to 3 p.m.

The Inspiration for Festival's Name

The festival takes its name from the lyrics of Sublime’s radio hit “Caress Me Down,” which was never released as a single but received substantial airplay on KROQ Los Angeles and other stations. The song includes the lyrics, “Me gusta mi reggae, me gusta punk rock,” which sums of the group’s trademark mix of punk, reggae and rock.

The Me Gusta Festival dates are just part of a big year planned for the group. The band is set to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut album with shows April 17 and 18 at the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colo.

Sublime is also slated to appear at the baseball-theme Innings Festival in Tempe, Ariz. on Feb. 22, as well as at Reggae Rise Up Florida in St. Peterburg, Fla. March 12-15 before heading off to Australia for dates there.

Sublime's Tragic Story

Sublime’s story is tainted by tragedy. The band, founded in 1988 by Wilson, Gaugh and Bradley Nowell, was primed for the biggest success of their career with the release of their self-titled album, but on May 25, 1996, a few months before the album’s release, Nowell tragically died from a drug overdose.

(L-R) Eric Wilson, Bradley Nowell, and Bud Gaugh of Sublime pose during Live 105's BFD at Shoreline Amphitheatre on June 9, 1995 in Mountain View, California. (Photo by Tim Mosenfelder/Getty Images)

In the wake of Nowell’s death, the band went on to have a series of radio hits, including “What I Got,” “Santeria,” and “Wrong Way,” eventually pushing the group’s self-titled album to sales of more than 18 million copies in the U.S.

In late 2023, Gaugh reunited with Wilson and Nowell’s son Jakob to reform Sublime and has been performing under that name since.

1975 Classic Rock Anthem Ranked ‘Sweetest Platonic Love Song’ of All Time

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 2:07pm

Valentine’s Day may have been last Saturday, but love songs are still having their moment — just not in the way you might expect.

While February 14 is usually reserved for candlelit dinners and grand romantic gestures, one 1975 classic rock anthem is being celebrated for something far sweeter: friendship. Especially with the rise of Galentines Day, thanks to the sitcomParks and Rec, platonic love is also being celebrated.

Decades after its release, the beloved track has now been ranked the "sweetest platonic love song" of all time by Ultimate Classic Rock — proving that not all great love stories are romantic.

George Michael and the 3 remaining members of Queen perform the song '39' at The Freddie Mercury Tribute concert at Wembley Stadium in 1992.

"You're My Best Friend" by Queen was crowned the No. 1 spot by UCR in an article they posted on Thursday about the best platonic rock songs.

Many of the songs on the list, which also included Ben E. King's "Stand by Me", "Songbird" by Fleetwood Mac and more, UCR mentioned that a lot of the songs on the list could be interpreted as love songs for a romantic partner, but they could also work for platonic relationships.

Bassist John Deacon originally wrote "You're My Best Friend" for his wife, Veronica Tetzlaff, and it was included in their 1975 album, A Night at the Opera. The song reached No. 7 on the UK Singles Chart and number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was also certified platinum by the RIAA in the United States with over one million copies sold.

View the original article to see embedded media.

Formed in London by Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and Deacon in 1970, Queen became a global presence in pop culture and rock music for half a century. As a band, they released 15 studio albums and went on multiple world tours over the past 70 years. Though not releasing new music, they are still active as a band, with May and Taylor as the main members, and were on their Rhapsody Tour from 2017 to 2024.

More than 70 years after they first stepped onto the scene, Queen’s music continues to impact society today.

That’s part of why their 1975 classic still resonates today. What may have been heard as a traditional love song has come to represent something just as meaningful — friendship. In the end, its lasting appeal proves that not all love songs are about romance — some are about the people who stay by your side through it all.

Marshalls' Chic Printed Nightstand Rivals an Anthropologie Piece That's 4x the Price

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 2:05pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

For the longest time, pattern felt reserved for the "soft" pieces like sofas, armchairs or maybe just a bold accent pillow or area rug. But lately, printed furniture is popping up everywhere, and not just on upholstery. I'm talking floral dressers, striped nightstands, painted desks, and even oversized cabinets covered in pattern. It's giving main-character energy to pieces that used to quietly blend into the background.

Maybe the shift makes sense. Not everyone wants to commit to wallpaper, but they still crave that layered look. A printed nightstand can add texture, depth and personality without requiring paste, ladders or a long-term relationship with a pattern. Or maybe people are just ready for something a little unexpected. Why shouldn't a dresser have as much personality as the art on the walls?

Marshalls is selling the prettiest Envogue 24x24 Nolida Printed Nightstand in a blue-and-white floral pattern that almost looks like it belongs in Provence. With its delicate metallic accents on the drawer pulls and feet, it's such a gorgeous way to add that layered look to your bedroom. At $249.99, it might not seem like a total steal, but when you compare it to similar looks Anthropologie is selling for five times more, you'll think differently.

The Marshalls nightstand features two drawers and measures 24 inches wide and 24 inches tall. It has a depth of 17 inches.

If you feel like you're having déjà vu because you were just eyeing Anthropologie's Hale Canvas Nightstands, which come in a variety of different patterns, including florals, join the club. The idea is extremely similar, only Anthro's nightstands cost $998 each, and they have three drawers instead of two. However, the dimensions are exactly the same in terms of height, width and depth.

Patterns where you least expect them just feel playful and confident, like you're in on a design secret. They break up all the wood tones and solids, instantly making a room feel styled instead of staged. It's really kind of refreshing to see furniture that refuses to be boring. Sometimes one standout piece is all it takes to wake up an entire space. I can't think of anything that does that better than these printed accent pieces.

Embrace's upcoming tour around the United Kingdom celebrates 30 years since the band formed its permanent lineup and recorded its first few demos in 1996, marking the official beginning of the rock band. Their upcoming album Avalanche will be their ninth studio album — the first single "Road To Nowhere" was released on Jan. 28.

"This record is about accepting that life is fragile, beautiful, confusing and fleeting — all at once — and showing up anyway," the band said in a statement in January. "We stopped trying to have all the answers and let the songs stay open, uncomfortable and real… It’s the most honest record we’ve made in a long time."

The band — which consists of vocalist Danny McNamara, guitarist Richard McNamara, bassist Steve Firth, drummer Mike Heaton and pianist Mickey Dale — saw its heyday in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Their debut album The Good Will Out (1998) reached No. 1 on the U.K. Albums Chart and went gold on its first day of release.

In 2006, Embrace recorded England's official World Cup song "World At Your Feet" from their album This New Day — another one of the band's chart-topping works.

The upcoming 30th anniversary tour will run the entire month of November and is set to begin on Nov. 9 in Aberdeen, Scotland.

What Is Korean New Year? Everything to Know About Seollal

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 2:00pm

New Year's celebrations vary throughout the world. Some celebrate the new year on Jan. 1. Others take place later in the month, like Lunar New Year and Korean New Year. But what is Korean New Year, exactly?

Korea (a word meaning “Land of High Mountains and Sparkling Streams”) is situated on a peninsula in the Pacific Ocean and forms a nearly complete land bridge between Chinese Manchuria and Japan. In addition to the mainland, Korea includes more than 3,000 smaller islands. Its history is as rich and varied as its geography, its culture and its people. Since 1945, it has been divided into two countries, North and South Korea.

South Korea, in particular, provides consumers around the world with oil, automobiles, smartphones and other technology. It’s home to popular K-pop groups, like BTS and Blackpink. Korea’s gifts to international cuisine include Kimchi, ramen noodles, barbecue and Soju (distilled rice liquor).

Culturally, they are known for being family-oriented and are very proud of their country. And on the day of Seollal, or Korean New Year, Koreans around the world gather together to celebrate their heritage.

What is Korean New Year?

Koreans will celebrate Seollal, a holiday lasting three days (including the day before and the day after their New Year’s Day) this winter. It’s a festive occasion when Koreans take time to remember their heritage. If possible, they return to their hometowns to visit their parents and other relatives. With millions of Koreans living abroad, travel to their mother country may not be possible, but there are still plenty of ways to celebrate this holiday. Both South Korea and North Korea observe this holiday.

At some point during the celebration, men and women, often donning traditional dress purchased just for the occasion, bow to their elders, a kind of bowing known as sebae. While bowing, they say, “Sae hae mahnee badeuseyo,” which means: "Please receive many new year blessings.” In return, elders might give some cash to young bowers, which is placed in a pouch called bok jumoni.

One food staple at Seollal is tteokguk (rice cake soup). There was a time tteokguk was only served once a year, for this holiday, as it was believed that by eating it, you become a year older. The jesa table (a high dining table used for ceremonial purposes) might also include an assortment of jeon-fried, savory pancakes filled with vegetables, meats or seafood. Other menu items include mung bean pancakes, Korean BBQ, kimchi dumplings, Korean dumpling soup, glass noodle stir fry and sweet rice bars.

Participants also play yut nori (often shortened to “yoot”), a game that’s been around for centuries. It’s made up of four wooden sticks and a board, where each player throws sticks in the air and advances depending on how they land. It’s comparable to the board game, “Sorry.” This might be the only time of the year a family plays this particular game.

When is Korean New Year in 2026?

Korean New Year occurs sometime in January or February, depending on the year. In 2026, it will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 17.

Typical Korean New Year celebrations include the days before and after as well, so this year expect celebrations from Monday, Feb. 16, to Wednesday, Feb. 18.

How long is the Korean New Year Celebration?

Korean New Year celebrations usually last three days.

Is January 1 a New Year in Korea?

In addition to their observance of the Korean New Year, many Koreans also observe the Western New Year (based on our Gregorian calendar) on Jan. 1.

How many New Year celebrations does Korea observe?

While South Korea may also celebrate the Western New Year, there's one more New Year celebration observed in North Korea.

In North Korea, they have a third New Year’s celebration, based on the Juche ideology and its calendar. The Juche calendar begins with the birthday of North Korea’s founder, Kim Il Sung.

Why do Koreans celebrate Lunar New Year?

Technically, Koreans celebrate their new year based on the lunisolar calendar, tracking both the moon and the sun. Depending on the sun’s position and the phases of the moon, days and even months can vary. This calendar system was developed by agrarian societies and continues to be used in certain countries today. Although Koreans primarily use the Gregorian calendar (like those in the West) today, they utilize this ancient calendar to determine the date of national holidays.

Is Korean New Year the same as Chinese New Year?

The two holidays are not the same, though they typically occur around the same time.

To wish someone a happy New Year in Korean, say, "Saehae bog manh-i bad-euseyo."

Sheriff Investigating Nancy Guthrie Case Reveals His Brother Died a Day After Her Disappearance

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 1:56pm

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos is opening up about a personal tragedy he faced while leading the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.

In an interview with the Daily Mail published on Sunday, Feb. 15, Nanos shared that his brother died in hospice one day after Nancy was reported missing in Tucson, Arizona, on Feb. 1.

He also addressed the criticism he's faced from the public on his handling of the investigation. Nanos was previously accused of withholding key evidence from the FBI by sending DNA evidence and gloves to a private lab in Florida, as opposed to the FBI's lab in Quantico, Virginia.

However, Nanos denied the allegation, telling Tucson NBC News affiliate KVOA on Friday, Feb. 13 that multiple pairs of gloves were found during the search for Nancy, and that he was trying to expedite the results — with the FBI's agreement — by sending them to the same facility that was already processing other evidence related to the case.

“People out there can get pretty ugly and mean and nasty and not have the facts,” Nanos told the Daily Mail. “I tell my journalists, you guys need to be a little more responsible … because that’s just really nasty stuff.”

Nanos did not provide additional details about his brother's death, however, he did praise the Guthrie family for their cooperation as the investigation enters its third week.

“Everything we’ve asked for, they’ve given us,” Nanos said. “They’re in such a state of grief. But they’re also, you know, I think they’re a little weary too, of what’s been going on and being said about them.”

RELATED: Savannah Guthrie Makes Emotional Plea to Her Mom’s Kidnapper: ‘It Is Never Too Late to Do the Right Thing’

On Feb. 15, Nancy's daughter Savannah posted a video to Instagram directed to her mother’s alleged abductor.

“I wanted to come on. It’s been two weeks since our mom was taken, and I just wanted to come on and say that we still have hope. We still believe, and I wanted to say to whoever has her, or knows where she is, that it’s never too late and you’re not lost or alone,” Savannah said. “
It is never too late to do the right thing and we are here. We believe. We believe in the essential goodness [of] every human being, and it’s never too late.”

Earlier on Feb. 15, the FBI confirmed that a glove found two miles from Nancy’s Tucson-area home “matches” ones seen in a doorbell camera video of a potential suspect. However, the DNA results are pending.

“The FBI received preliminary results yesterday on 2/14 and are awaiting quality control and official confirmation today before putting unknown male profile into CoDIS, the national database unique to the bureau,” a statement read. “This process typically takes 24 hours from when the bureau receives DNA.”

The FBI urges anyone with tips or leads to call 1-800-CALL-FBI in addition to the Pima County Sheriff’s Office number, 520-351-4900. An $100,000 reward is currently being offered to anyone with information leading to Nancy or the arrest of her kidnapper.

Bill Maher Reveals the Loaded Question He Asked Kid Rock Over Turning Point USA Halftime Show

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 1:44pm

Bill Maher apparently had a conversation with Kid Rock over his performance at the controversial halftime show put on by Turning Point USA—and he wasn't afraid to ask the hard-hitting questions.

"I did text with Kid Rock about [the show]," Maher recently told CNN's Elex Michaelson, noting that he confronted the singer over his decision to participate in the show, which served as a direct rival to Bad Bunny's official NFL halftime performance.

🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬

"His whole show was very about [being] Christian," Maher, 70, explained, calling the message of Kid Rock's song to be "very big" on Christian themes.

"I said, 'Wouldn’t it have been a little more Christian to let Mr. Bunny have his moment?'" Maher recalled asking.

When Michaelson asked what Kid Rock's response to Maher's question was, Maher said, "He didn't—I just said, next time we talk we should talk about whether it would have been a little more Christian to let Mr. Bunny have his moment."

Maher also noted that he "taped" Kid Rock's performance rather than watching it during the actual broadcast, and while he liked the music of the song he sang, the content was not Maher's "cup of tea." (Kid Rock performed his version of "Till I Can't," a cover of Cody Johnson's original song, during the Turning Point Halftime show.)

Turning Point USA, the conservative organization founded by late right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, described the alternative entertainment option for Super Bowl LX as an "All-American" halftime performance, an apparent dig at Bad Bunny's Spanish language music.

The Turning Point show, which also featured performances from country singers Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett, received a significant amount of criticism online, including shade from fellow country singer Zach Bryan.

Bad Bunny's performance—which included several messages of unity throughout the show—has also ruffled feathers, including those of Tennessee congressman Andy Ogles.

Meanwhile, Bad Bunny's performance is now the fourth most-watched halftime show in Super Bowl history.
