‘Marshals’ Trailer May Reveal the Death of a Major ‘Yellowstone’ Character
Marshals, one of the highly anticipated spinoffs of Yellowstoneis set to premiere soon on March 1 on CBS, appears to be lacking one major character in its cast. Does the official trailer foreshadow the death of a major character and set up the premise of the series?
Here's what we know.
Take a look at the official trailer for MarshalsIn it, we see Kacey Dutton (Luke Grimes) join the U.S. Marshals, albeit somewhat reluctantly. As Yellowstone fans know, Kacey was a former Navy SEAL whose training leads us to believe he was possibly a sniper within the elite group. In the new series, he is recruited by an old colleague Pete (Logan Marshall-Green), to join the Marshals after Pete comes by for a "wellness" check.
Why would Kacey join the Marshals? If Kacey was living his happily ever after with Monica (Kelsey Asbille) and Tate (Brecken Merill) and running a ranch, why would he need to join the U. S. Marshals? Unless their ranch needed a supplemental income, I can't imagine why Kacey would take his friend up on the offer. Can you?

Did Tate die? We're pretty sure Tate didn't die because we see a glimpse of him in the trailer, standing next to Kacey in one of the shots. Plus, Brecken Merrill is listed as part of the cast of Marshals.
Did Monica leave Kayce? We don't think Monica would have left Kayce because they seemed to be madly in love with each other. At least, we don't think she left him in a divorce...
Did Monica die? A still from the 'Marshals' official trailerIt's unclear if Monica is dead, so we'll have to wait until the series premiere. However, we have noticed that Kelsey Asbille's name is missing from the show's cast and credits. Also, in the official trailer, it is evident that someone has died. Perhaps it is this person's death that triggers Pete into doing a wellness check on Kayce and causes him to subsequently join the Marshals.
Kayce kneels over a grave in the Marshals trailer. In another part of the trailer, we see Kayce kneeling over a grave near his home. As we know, this is a single grave and not the Yellowstone with its centuries-old graveyard. Who else could it be? We also hear Kayce tell Gifford (Brett Cullen) later in the trailer, "Yellowstone's gone. Same for most of my family." After this, we see a female silhouette—presumably Monica—approaching him, which might be footage from a previous Yellowstone episode. If Monica is actually dead, he only has two surviving immediate family members—his son Tate and his sister Beth (Kelly Reilly).
Why would the creators kill off a main character?Let's be real: Would it be a Yellowstone spinoff without some kind of tragedy? By the end of both 1823 and 1923, several main characters were dead. Plus, we all know that Taylor Sheridan'sshows do not typically include happily-ever-after endings. Furthermore, they would need to create a plot device for Kayce to join the Marshals. He would have declined any job offer from Pete if he had been living a life of bliss, right?
Do you think Monica dies in Marshals? Or do you think someone else does? Tell us your thoughts in the comments!
A 1979 Country Smash About the Devil Spawned a Superstar Sequel 14 Years Later
In 1979, the country smash "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" told the story of a young man who battled the devil for his soul by playing a fiddle. However, did you know there was a sequel to the song, featuring a superstar lineup?
The Charlie Daniels Band hit the top spot on the country music charts with the original song, which also reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. The fiery fiddle-driven track became the band’s signature hit, cementing its place as one of country music’s most enduring anthems.
However, in 1993, a sequel was written by violinist Mark O’Connor, "The Devil Comes Back to Georgia." The track featured country legends Johnny Cash, Travis Tritt, Marty Stuart, and Charlie Daniels.
American Songwriter reported the song was a twist on the original, where Daniels played the fiddle and was its key narrator. In the sequel, Daniels once again played the fiddle, Cash narrated the song, Stuart played Johnny, and Tritt was the devil.

In the song, Cash tells the story of how Johnny and the devil battled once again. Instead of a young man, Johnny was now older and with a family of his own.

The song's lyrics depict the characters facing off once again: "You get your fiddle devil if you think that you can win. 'Cos I beat you once, you old dog, and I can whip your butt again."
O'Connor said of the unforgettable video shoot in an interview, "I played the part of Johnny, and Charlie had to do the Devil’s part. Although I don’t think he was that excited about representing the Devil in the video!"
He added that Tritt was brought on to "do a lot of the devilish faces and antics that helped make the video so widely watched and liked! Cash singing lead on the song was a dream come true as well. He was my hero since I was eight years old."
"The Devil Comes Back to Georgia" appeared on the album Heroes. It peaked at No. 54 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in 1994.
View this post on InstagramIn October 2025, O'Connor revealed via Instagram that the song remains a beloved sequel. He wrote, "My Spotify page reveals that my biggest song from "Heroes" on Warner Bros. "The Devil Comes Back to Georgia" has ticked past 5 Million Spotify streams now!"
'70s Rocker Earned First-Ever No. 1 Album 52 Years Ago Today
Fifty-two years ago today, on Feb. 16, 1974, Bob Dylan scored his first-ever No. 1 album when Planet Waves topped the Billboard 200 chart.
The record marked a major moment in Dylan’s long career, proving that even after years away from touring, he could still lead the music world.
Planet Waves knocked You Don’t Mess Around With Jim by Jim Croce out of the No. 1 spot. The album then stayed at the top for four weeks before being replaced by The Way We Were by Barbra Streisand.
Originally, the album was going to be called Ceremonies Of The Horsemen, according toAmerican Songwriter. However, Dylan decided to change the title at the last minute. That choice delayed the release by two weeks. When it finally arrived on Jan. 17, 1974, fans were ready.

The 11-track album featured 10 original songs written by Dylan. Two singles, “On a Night Like This” and “Something There Is About You,” reached No. 44 and No. 107 on the Billboard Hot 100. While those songs had only minor chart success, one track would grow far beyond the numbers: “Forever Young.”
Bob Dylan and The Band Reunite for a Historic No. 1 AlbumOne big reason Planet Waves stands out is its collaboration with The Band. Years earlier, when they were known as The Hawks, the group toured with Dylan in 1965 and 1966. At the time, some folk fans booed Dylan for using electric instruments.
After Dylan’s 1966 motorcycle accident, he stepped away from touring. During that quiet time, he worked with the future members of The Band in Woodstock, New York. Those recordings later became known as “The Basement Tapes.” The sessions also helped the musicians create their own identity as The Band.
The idea for Planet Waves came together in the summer of 1973 after guitarist Robbie Robertson moved near Dylan in Malibu, California. The two talked about hitting the road again. By September 1973, The Band rehearsed with Dylan. Soon after, he agreed to both record an album and organize a tour.
Recording for Planet Waves took place from Nov. 2 to Nov. 14, 1973, at The Village Recorder studio in Los Angeles. The album was produced by Rob Fraboni. The cover featured a black-and-white drawing by Dylan himself, and the back included a poetic essay he wrote.
Shortly before the album’s release, Dylan and The Band launched a tour that began with shows in Chicago on Jan. 3 and 4, 1974. The tour ended in Inglewood, California, on Feb. 13 and 14. Later that year, they released a live album titled Before The Flood, mostly recorded during those Inglewood concerts.
Today, at 84 years old, Dylan is still touring on his Rough and Rowdy Ways Tour. Looking back 52 years, Planet Waves stands as proof that even after setbacks and long breaks, a great artist can rise to the top again.

Martha Stewart Reveals the ‘Maximalist’ Packing Hack She Uses to Keep Clothes Wrinkle-Free
Move over, carry-on minimalists! While the rest of the world is busy sitting on their suitcases to get them zipped shut, Martha Stewart is proving that more is, in fact, more. The lifestyle icon recently touched down in Milano, and she’s giving fans a rare look at her "maximalist" travel style—complete with a fleet of high-end luggage and a packing hack that is pure genius.
In a recent Instagram post, Stewart shared a photo from her arrival in Italy, surrounded by a mountain of sleek aluminum Rimowa trunks. “@johnnygweir and @snoopdogg probably had more luggage than we do,” she joked in the caption, adding that her travel posse all traveled with the brand and “it all arrived safe and sound!!!!”.

View this post on Instagram The "Science" of a Wrinkle-Free ArrivalWhile Meghan Markle might swear by compression cubes, Martha isn't buying the hype. "Packing cubes? Everything comes out totally wrinkled and disheveled—I’m not a big fan," she admits. Instead, she relies on a technique she has perfected over decades. Her secret to keeping her looks ready for "breakfasts, lunches, dinners, events—maybe a speaking engagement, a commercial to make, social media stuff" is remarkably simple:
The Big Trunk: Stewart swears by the "great big Rimowa trunk on wheels" because it "holds almost everything".
The Hanger Trick: "I personally love the big trunks—my clothing, packed on hangers, and each piece in its own lightweight cleaners plastic bag, is unwrinkled and ready to wear!!!".
The Friction Fix: The plastic bags reduce the friction that causes fabric to crease. As she explains, "If you fold them simply back and forth, nothing ever gets wrinkled. You just hang them right up in your hotel closet".

"The Human Equivalent of a Chanel Suit"Fans were quick to flood the comments, praising both her practical tips and her timeless travel energy.
"The only thing cooler than her luggage and her travel posse is her vibe. Thank you Martha for being the human equivalent of a Chanel suit: a timeless classic," one admirer wrote.
Others noted that despite her age, she is still a global force of nature: "Please remember that this is an 84 year old woman who by the grace of god can still travel across the globe and still look great smiling and walking.. an anomaly."
Of course, some kept it relatable, with one commenter noting the stark difference between Martha's transit and their own: "When I travel (always in coach, and yes, in that seat that won’t recline), I always pack my tattered 1990’s Samsonite to the brim... Nothing like arriving at a Days Inn, taking out the rumpled dress I have to wear that evening, and realizing I only packed one of my dress shoes!"

‘Bewitched’ Star Erin Murphy Stuns Fans With Rare Photo With Twin Sister 60 Years After Sitcom Fame
Erin Murphy shared a rare photo of herself and her twin sister Diane. The Bewitched star posted to Facebook on Feb. 16 as she posed with her sibling nearly 60 years after they shared the role of Tabitha Stephens on the ABCsitcom.
In the photo, Murphy posed with her arm around her twin at an outdoor location. “Sisters!” she captioned the post.
Fans reacted in the comment section to say the 61-year-old siblings looked “beautiful." Some could see a resemblance, while others felt the Murphy twins looked nothing alike as adults.
One fan asked Murphy, “Are you twins?,” to which the actress replied, “Yes, fraternal twins.”
“So, that’s Diane? Who played Tabitha the longest?” another fan wanted to know.
Erin & Diane Murphy shared the role of Tabitha—at firstErin and her sister Diane debuted their shared role of mini witch, Tabitha, the daughter of Darrin and Samantha Stephens (Dick York, Elizabeth Montgomery) in the third season of Bewitched in 1966. Erin appeared in 103 episodes of the fantasy comedy series, while Diane only appeared in 21 episodes of the show, per IMDb.
The twin sisters were hired due to California’s child labor laws at the time, which restricted the amount of time a child could be on the set of a television series.
“My sister and I are fraternal twins, and they were only auditioning twins for the part of Tabitha because twins can work more hours,” Erin told Studio 10 in a 2020 interview. “As soon as they hired us, they realized that we really don’t look that much alike.”
In addition, Erin adapted to the cameras better than Diane did, which became apparent early on. “If we would bring Diane on set, she would start to cry. But for me, they would turn on the lights, and I was in heaven. I was happy to be there,” Erin once told Pop Entertainment.
She also noted that as she and Diane got older, they “didn’t look enough alike to really be interchangeable.” “They would shoot my sister from the back or from a distance,” the Bewitched star shared. “They got to a point where they really couldn’t even do that because we looked so different.”
Diane Murphy barely appeared in Bewitched after Season 5, while Erin played Tabitha until the beloved series ended in 1972 after eight seasons.
1971 Hit Ranked ‘Greatest Classic Rock Song’ of All Time
More than five decades after its release, a 1971 rock song has just been ranked the “Greatest Classic Rock Song” of all time — and fans say its legendary drum intro is the reason why.
According to a ranking of Greatest Classic Rock Songs by Great Bands, the No. 1 spot belongs to “When the Levee Breaks” by Led Zeppelin.
Originally appearing as the closing track on the band’s untitled fourth album in 1971, the song has long been revered for one defining element: John Bonham’s thunderous drum sound.
One fan summed it up simply in the ranking’s comments section: “Most memorable drum beat ever.”
That sentiment echoes decades of critical praise.
In "Led Zeppelin: The Complete Guide to Their Music," author Dave Lewis described the track as featuring “one of the most powerful drum sounds ever committed to tape.”
RELATED: 1967’s No. 1 Song Became a Hit Again 35 Years Later
The two-bar drum break that opens the song has taken on a life of its own in music history. A 2013 Esquire piece examining rap samples noted that the intro is “one of the most monumental pieces of rock drumming ever recorded,” and one of the most widely sampled, appearing in songs by artists ranging from Eminem and Dr. Dre to the Beastie Boys.
Sadly, Bonham died in 1980 at just 32 years of age due to pulmonary aspiration. His death caused Led Zeppelin to disband.
A Blues Song Reborn“When the Levee Breaks” didn’t begin as a Led Zeppelin composition. The song was first written and recorded in 1929 by Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie, inspired by the devastation of the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927.
Robert Plant retained many of the original lyrics when Led Zeppelin reworked the song, but guitarist Jimmy Page built an entirely new riff around it, transforming a country blues track into something seismic and atmospheric.
RELATED: Legendary Rock Dynasties Linked in New Romance
The result was a brooding, hypnotic epic that closed one of the most successful albums in rock history—an album that also includes “Stairway to Heaven,” “Black Dog,” and “Rock and Roll.”
Yet on this particular ranking, it was “When the Levee Breaks” that rose above them all.
The Rest of the Top 10The full Top 10 list of “Greatest Classic Rock Songs by Great Bands” includes:
- "When the Levee Breaks" – Led Zeppelin
- "A Day in the Life" – The Beatles
- "Gimme Shelter" – The Rolling Stones
- "Echoes" – Pink Floyd
- "Sultans of Swing" – Dire Straits
- "Baba O’Riley" – The Who
- "Kashmir" – Led Zeppelin
- "Brothers in Arms" – Dire Straits
- "Come Together" – The Beatles
- "Light My Fire" – The Doors
With Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin and Floyd all represented, the ranking reads like a Mount Rushmore of rock history—but it’s Bonham’s cavernous drumbeat that ultimately claimed the crown.
We Asked 3 Cardiologists What Habit Is Best for Heart Health, and They All Said the Same Thing
We’ve all had those moments where we vow to start living healthier. Maybe you’ve done a clean sweep of the pantry, throwing out anything ultra-processed that’s high in sugar or sodium. Or you tell yourself you’re going to start going to the gym every single day, no matter what. You’re going to replace doomscrolling with meditating and go to bed at a decent hour.
These are all great changes to make. But often, it’s the simple not-so-drastic changes that support health the most. Some examples: Swapping out the usual soda you have with lunch for water, introducing a new healthy food into your diet each week or making a conscious effort to stay more hydrated.
Along these lines, we asked three cardiologists to share the one heart-healthy habit they do every single day without fail, and in each case, it was surprisingly simple. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t powerful. In fact, their simple heart-healthy habit is so beneficial that it’s been scientifically proven to add years to one’s life.
If you want to start living a healthier lifestyle but don’t know where to start, integrating this one habit into your day is the perfect first step. Keep reading to find out what it is.

The Daily Habit To Never Skip for Heart Health, According to CardiologistsWhen asked about a heart-healthy habit they did every day without fail, all three cardiologists had the same answer: They move their bodies.
“Movement, whether it is through walking, calisthenics, active stretching, cycling…you name it, is crucial to maintaining optimal vascular, brain, heart and musculoskeletal health,” says Dr. Mohanakrishnan Sathyamoorthy, MD, FACC, a cardiologist and the chair of the Department of Internal Medicine at Texas Christian University.
Dr. Alan Rozanski, MD, a cardiologist and professor of medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, says that he walks every single day—no exception. “Walking is my ‘non-negotiable’ form of movement because it’s simple, requires no equipment and fits easily into real life,” he tells Parade. If he has time, Dr. Rozanski will walk on a scenic trail. On busy days, he walks around his neighborhood.
Related: What's More Important for Heart Health: Lowering Dietary Cholesterol or Saturated Fat?
Dr. Rozanski says that his daily walks are between 30 to 45 minutes, and in addition to that, he builds “exercise snacks” throughout his day, such as pacing while talking on the phone, parking farther away when running errands or taking the stairs instead of the elevator. “Those small bursts of movement may seem minor, but research shows they add up in powerful ways for heart and metabolic health. It’s less about doing one big workout and more about keeping your body moving all day long,” he says.
Dr. Joyce Oen-Hsiao, MD, FACC, a cardiologist and associate professor of medicine at Yale School of Medicine, says that she does a mix of strength training and cardio as her regular forms of movement. “I’ll do 30 minutes of cardio, either elliptical or treadmill walking, for 30 to 45 minutes every day. Then I will do 10 to 20 minutes of strength training, either core strength or Pilates with dumbbells,” she explains.
Related: The Heart-Healthy Habit Cardiologists Say Most People Quit Way Too Soon
The Best Type of Exercise for Heart HealthAll three cardiologists emphasize that all forms of movement are good for heart health. The key is finding something you like and being consistent. “The cardiovascular system responds positively to activity of all kinds of movement, improving mood and brain function while also helping regulate blood pressure, blood sugar and inflammation,” Dr. Rozanski says.
That said, he explains that different types of movement have different benefits, which is why he recommends regularly doing different types of exercise. For example, he says aerobic activities like brisk walking or cycling strengthen the heart, improve circulation and build endurance, while resistance training preserves muscle and bone. “Both are critical for metabolism and healthy aging,” Dr. Rozanski continues, adding that flexibility exercises are important too, because they support joint health and support moving easily as we age.
Dr. Oen-Hsiao adds that, ideally, it’s best to do a mix of cardio and strength training; the heart needs both types of exercise to stay strong. But if you currently don’t do any form of exercise, all three cardiologists say that committing to going on a daily walk is a great place to start.
Related: 7 Foods Cardiologists Always Eat for Heart Health
“Brisk walking improves blood pressure, cholesterol levels, blood sugar control and body composition, all of which translate into lower cardiovascular risk. It also reduces stress hormones and boosts mood, which has real physiologic benefits for the heart. Even modest amounts done consistently have been linked with meaningful reductions in heart disease and premature death,” Dr. Rozanski says. “The beauty of walking is that it’s accessible to almost everyone and easy to sustain long term. For many people, it becomes the gateway habit that naturally leads to a more active, healthier lifestyle overall.”
Related: This Is the Shortest Amount of Time You Need to Walk and Still See Results
Scientific research shows that daily walking can even add years to your life. In one study that included 17,466 women aged 62 to 101, walking roughly 4,400 steps a day was associated with a 41% reduction in mortality rate compared to people who walked roughly 2,700 steps a day. Another study found that walking for between 90 and 720 minutes a week (between an hour-and-a-half and 12 hours a week) was associated with living an estimated six years longer.
As you can see, movement is powerful. Even the simple act of walking more can be life-changing—and life-saving! The more you move, the stronger your heart will be.

1977 No. 1 Hit Takes on a Whole New Meaning After an Unexpected Lyrical Twist
A 1977 No. 1 hit takes on an entirely different meaning once you discover the surprising story behind who it was originally written about.
In the second half of the ’70s, Daryl Hall and John Oates climbed to the top of the Billboard charts with “Rich Girl.” The hit tells the story of a privileged young woman who can do as she pleases, knowing her family’s wealth will always cushion the consequences.
The tune was released in January. In two months, it would hit No. 1 and remain on the charts for 20 weeks.
However, the song's original lyrics had a different origin story, one that few listeners knew existed. Instead of "Rich Girl" being about a carefree woman, the song was originally written about a man.

In an interview with American Songwriter, Hall revealed the surprising backstory behind the lyrics. He shared key details that were changed before the song ever hit the airwaves.
“‘Rich Girl’ was written about an old boyfriend of Sara’s [Allen, Hall's longtime girlfriend] from college that she was still friends with at the time. His name is Victor Walker," Hall revealed.

The singer and songwriter continued, "He came to our apartment, and he was acting sort of strange. His father was quite rich. I think he was involved with some kind of a fast-food chain."
"I said, ‘This guy is out of his mind, but he doesn’t have to worry about it because his father’s gonna bail him out of any problems he gets in.’ So I sat down and wrote that chorus. 'He can rely on the old man’s money. He can rely on the old man’s money. He’s a rich guy.'"
He concluded, "I thought that didn’t sound right, so I changed it to rich girl. He knows the song was written about him.”
Hall and Allen's relationship continued for three decades before it ended. She was his muse and also contributed to some of Hall & Oates' biggest hits, including "Private Eyes," "Maneater," "You Make My Dreams," and "I Can't Go For That." Sara Allen was also the inspiration behind one of Hall & Oates' greatest love songs, "Sara Smile."
After decades as one of pop music’s most successful duos, Daryl Hall and John Oates' personal and professional relationships fractured over a bitter business dispute involving their joint publishing company and a planned sale of shares. Hall filed a lawsuit against Oates in 2023 to block the deal, marking a dramatic breakdown in their longtime partnership. It was settled in August 2025.

Available to stream for free on Tubi, PLEX, and The Roku Channel. Available to rent or purchase on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Google Play, and YouTube TV.
This was Ang Lee's feature film directorial debut and one of my personal favorites. This and his next two films—The Wedding Banquet and Eat Drink Man Woman—would be informally known as the "Father Knows Best" trilogy with all three starring Sihung Lung in the patriarchal role.
In Pushing Hands, Lung plays Chu, a tai chi master who now lives in New York with his son and his family and must adjust to a new life. His daughter-in-law (Snyder) is white and doesn't understand his eastern ways nor does he understand her western ways. On top of that, there is a language barrier as neither speaks the other's native tongue. Chu's son, Alex (Wang) is stuck in the middle between his filial duty and the responsibilities of a husband and father in the Western world.
2. 'Life of Pi'Stars: Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan, Gautum Belur, Tabu, Gerard Depardieu
Available to stream on HBO Max
Life of Pi is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Yann Martel. This film was also directed by Ang Lee. The story tells the tale of Pi Patel, a 16-year old Indian boy and a Bengal tiger who are stranded on a lifeboat for 227 days after a shipwreck.
3. 'My Page in the 90s'Stars: Uvin Wang, Xingxu Chen
Available to stream on Viki
Lin Huan Er (Wang) is a modern-day love-advice streamer who is transported into a 1999 romance novel. To return to the real world, she must navigate the book’s plot and succeed in making the main character—a cold, calculating, and distant CEO named Gao Haiming (Chen)—fall in love with her. However, when she starts genuinely falling for Hai Ming, Huan Er is forced to reconsider the kind of happy ending she truly wants for herself.
4. 'Left-Handed Girl'Stars: Janel Tsai, Shih-Yuan, Nina Ye, Brando Huang, Akio Chen, Xin-Yan Chao
Available to stream on Netflix
Left-handed Girl was Taiwan's official selection for Best International Feature Film for the 2026 Academy Awards. It made the December shortlist, but unfortunately didn't make the final cut for the awards. The film follows Shu-Fen, a single mom of two daughters—innocent 5-year-old I-Jing and surly, college-aged I-Ann—as they relocate to Taipei so Shu-Fen can open up a noodle stand.
After learning her estranged husband who abandoned them a decade earlier is terminally ill, Shu-Fen goes into further debt to pay for his medical bills and later his funeral. This puts a strain on I-Ann's relationship with her mother. I-Jing is oblivious to all that is going on around her, except that she's left-handed and that her grandfather has told her that the left hand is the "devil's hand" and she is not to use it in his home. I-Jing sees that as giving her free rein to do whatever she wants with her left hand as she is not responsible for what it does so she begins to shoplift. 10 Iconic Disney World Rides That Have Closed Forever—And What Replaced Them
With epic expansions sweeping across the global Disney map—from the transformation of Disneyland Paris' second gate into Disney Adventure World to the highly-anticipated Villains Land and Piston PeakNational Park coming to the Magic Kingdom—Disney fans have more to look forward to than ever before. There’s even a seventh resort destination slated for Abu Dhabi, proving the "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" is closer than we think.
But for those of us who grew up in the 60s, 70s or 80s, all this change comes with a bittersweet reality: the loss of the rides that defined our childhoods. No matter how high-tech a new land is, it’s hard not to miss the specific glow of the Rainbow Corridor or the smell of the submarine lagoon. Some attractions don't just close; they become part of a collective memory that defines what "Disney" meant to an entire generation.
From the "Epcot Center" vision of a high-tech future to the whimsy of Fantasyland's early days, these 10 legendary Disney World rides stand out for their lasting impact. Thanks to the magic of YouTube and the passion of preservationist fans, we can still relive the "All the Fixin's" of these retired classics today.
Here is a look back at the icons we miss most, the special memories they left behind and what eventually replaced them.

1. The Great Movie Ride (1989–2017)Housed in a replica of Grauman's Chinese Theatre at Disney's Hollywood Studios (formerly Disney-MGM Studios), this dark ride used 100+ animatronics and live actors to take guests through scenes from cinema classics like Casablanca and The Wizard of Oz. Fans loved the "live hijack" where a gangster or bandit would take over your ride vehicle, and the montage of movie clips at the very end. What’s There Now:Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, a trackless adventure that puts you inside a Mickey Mouse cartoon.
2. Maelstrom (1988–2014)This mythological boat trip through Norway featured Viking raids, polar bears and a three-headed troll that sent your boat backward for over 26 years. Ride wait times often topped 90 minutes for the famous "backward drop" that peeked out over the Norway pavilion's exterior, and fans still remember the "Spirit of Norway" tourism film that many cheekily skipped at the end to head straight for the bakery. What’s There Now:Frozen Ever After, which uses the same ride track and boats for a journey to Arendelle, has been newly upgraded as of February 2026 with life-like A-1000 animatronics featuring articulated physical faces and silicone skin that replace the original projected versions.
3. Splash Mountain (1991–2023)This massive log flume featuring the characters and Oscar-winning songs of the 1946 film Song of the South has featured in generations of families' memories of the Frontierland area of the Magic Kingdom. Beyond the 50-foot drop, fans remember the catchy "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" finale and the "snoring bear" in the queue—a "critter" sound effect carried over from an even older Disney attraction, America Sings. What’s There Now:Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, a 2024 reimagining centered on Princess Tiana's quest to host a New Orleans celebration, featuring a "salt dome" farm and an original New Orleans-style soundtrack.

4. World of Motion (1982–1996)Epcot's whimsical, slow-moving look at the history of transportation took guests from the invention of the wheel to futuristic "mag-lev" cities. Calm ride vehicles called "omnimovers" and blasting AC (sponsored by GM!) offered a nice cool-off break for parents and kids. Fans still miss the humorous visual gags designed by Disney legends Ward Kimball and Marc Davis, especially the "world's first traffic jam" scene featuring more than 30 animatronic figures and one iconic horse. What’s There Now:Test Track, a high-speed thrill ride that actually re-used the original pavilion structure, allowing guests to design their own virtual concept car and put it through a series of "proving ground" performance tests.
5. Snow White’s Scary Adventures (1971–2012)This opening-day dark ride in Fantasyland was notorious for being surprisingly dark, focusing more on the Evil Queen’s transformation into the Wicked Witch than on the princess herself. Fans of the 70s and 80s remember the ride’s suspenseful atmosphere, the neon-glowing eyes in the Haunted Forest, and the "clatter" of the ride vehicles as the Witch attempted to drop a massive boulder on guests in the final scene. It was so intense for a "kiddie" ride that Disney eventually added a "Scary" warning to the title to prepare parents for the jump-scares and the Queen’s cackling presence. What’s There Now:Princess Fairytale Hall, a regal meet-and-greet location where guests can take photos with various Disney royalty. While the original ride track is gone, the spooky spirit lives on just a few steps away at the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, where the animatronic Wicked Witch from the old ride was recycled and can still be seen knocking on the cottage door in the final scene.

6. Body Wars (1989–2004)Housed in Epcot’s Wonders of Life pavilion, this high-stakes motion simulator "shrank" guests down to the size of a white blood cell for a frantic mission through the human respiratory and circulatory systems. Directed by Leonard Nimoy, the ride used the same jarring flight-simulator tech as Star Tours, taking fans on a bumpy journey to rescue a stranded scientist (played by Elisabeth Shue) from inside a splinter. Children of the 90s remember the notorious "roughness" of the ride and the slightly squeamish visuals of the pumping heart and lungs that frequently left a line of green-faced riders at the exit. What’s There Now: The Wonders of Life pavilion remains standing but is currently used as the Epcot Event Pavilion, serving as the home base for the park's seasonal food, wine and garden festivals. While the ride's simulators have long since been dismantled, the distinctive gold-domed building remains a nostalgic landmark for those who remember the days of Buzzy and Cranium Command.

7. Captain EO (1986–1998)This 17-minute 3D space musical starring Michael Jackson was a high-budget collaboration with George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola that redefined the "4D" experience with in-theater lasers, smoke and starfields. Fans of the 80s still remember the "reach out and touch it" asteroid that seemed to float inches from their faces and the ragtag crew of characters like the clumsy, flatulent Hooter and the flying Fuzzball. What’s There Now: The Magic Eye Theater in Epcot's Imagination Pavilion currently hosts the Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival, which uses the same 4D theater effects to show a rotating collection of animated shorts, including favorites like Get a Horse! and Piper.
8. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1971–1994)This massive, 20-minute submarine voyage through a "liquid space" lagoon was a crown jewel of Fantasyland, where guests peered through heavy portholes at mermaids, shipwrecks and an underwater graveyard of sunken ships. Children of the 70s and 80s vividly remember the sweet, metallic smell of the "sea" water (actually bromine) and the vibrating hum of Captain Nemo’s voice over the speakers as the vessel descended into the dark. The ride’s terrifying climax—a struggle with a giant, glowing-eyed squid—remains one of the most indelible core memories for an entire generation of Disney travelers. What’s There Now: After sitting as an empty lagoon for nearly a decade, the site was eventually filled in to create the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, a family-friendly coaster that opened in 2014. While the submarines are long gone, fans can still find a tiny tribute to the ride carved into the wooden beams of the Mine Train’s queue, and a collection of the original 1971 portholes are currently on display at the Disney 100 Exhibit traveling to Madrid in 2026.
9. Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride (1971–1998)This chaotic Fantasyland dark ride took guests on a reckless "motorcar" journey through the English countryside, based on the The Wind in the Willows segment of 1949's The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. Children of the 70s and 80s remember the ride’s jerky turns, the loud "honk-honk" of the cars, and the surreal, controversial finale where you "died" in a head-on collision with a train and ended up in a comical version of Hell. The scene was complete with red devils, heat lamps that made the room feel genuinely hot, and a grinning devil-judge—a dark twist that would likely never be built in a modern-day Magic Kingdom. What’s There Now: The space was replaced by The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, a much gentler journey through the Hundred Acre Wood. However, the legacy of J. Thaddeus Toad lives on in two "easter eggs": a painting inside the new Pooh ride shows Mr. Toad handing a deed to Owl, and a statue of the character stands in the pet cemetery outside the Haunted Mansion, looking longingly toward his former home.
10. Journey Into Imagination (1983–1998)The original 14-minute version of this Epcot icon featured the jolly, bearded Dreamfinder and his mischievous creation, Figment, as they traveled through the clouds in the "Dreamcatcher" to collect sparks of inspiration. Children of the 80s remember the ride's whimsical "Dreamport" storage room and the vibrant scenes dedicated to Art, Literature and Science, all set to the Sherman Brothers' iconic "One Little Spark." After exiting, the magic continued in the upstairs ImageWorks, a high-tech playground where fans spent hours in the neon-lit Rainbow Corridor—a rotating light tunnel so famous it served as the backdrop for a legendary Michael Jackson photoshoot. What’s There Now: A significantly shorter version called Journey Into Imagination with Figment, which focuses on the "sensory labs" of the Imagination Institute hosted by Dr. Nigel Channing. While the original second floor is now a private lounge, the current 2026 Festival of the Arts at Epcot features a nostalgic "Inspiration Station" at the Odyssey building with rainbow projections that pay direct homage to that beloved 80s tunnel.

This 1971 Record Was Ranked 'Best Southern Rock Album of All Time'
As is the cast with most genres of music, southern rock has really evolved over the years. From Lynyrd Skynyrd to the Allman Brothers to Molly Hatchet to ZZ Top to the Black Crowes to R.E.M., the category includes a wide range of styles, with iconic albums from every decade since the '50s. But if you had to pick just one of those records as the greatest ever, which would it be?
While it might seem impossible to narrow down the playing field, that's what Paste managed to do with their ranking of the top 50 southern rock albums of all time, which featured some surprising (and not-so-surprising) picks. In the latter category, for example, the Georgia Satellites' 1986 self-titled album came in at #40, while the lesser-known High on the Hog from Black Oak Arkansas (1973) was ranked #25.
The top 10 featured an especially diverse mix of records, kicking off with the Marshall Tucker Band's 1973 self-titled album (which spawned the hit "Can't You See"). Next up was Jason Isbell's 2013 solo album Southeastern, followed by ZZ Top's Tres Hombres (1973) — which gave the world "La Grange" — at #8. Lucinda Williams and her legendary Car Wheels On A Gravel Road(1998) took the #7 spot.
Little Richard's Here’s Little Richard (1957) was ranked #6 for delivering hits like "Tutti Frutti," “Slippin’ and Sliden’,” and “Long Tall Sally," with R.E.M.'s Murmur(1983) leading the way into the top five. Drive-By Truckers came in fourth forSouthern Rock Opera(2001); third place went to Lynyrd Skynyrd's (Pronounced ‘l?h-’nérd ‘skin-’nérd)from 1973 (makes sense, since "Freebird" has been playing non-stop on the radio ever since). Coming in second was Johnny Cash and the influential — but incomparable — At Folsom Prison (1968).
As for which record was crowned the best southern rock album of all time, that honor went to the Allman Brothers Band's At Fillmore East (1971), which is often ranked among the best live albums ever, too. The last of the band's records to feature Duane Allman (who died in a motorcycle crash just a few months after its release), At Fillmore East is a "masterclass in all the ways rock music was being adapted and reshaped by a new generation of torch bearers," as Paste's Eric R. Danton wrote, "with the emphasis split between honoring the origins of the music and pushing it forward to heretofore unknown heights of instrumental magic."
Over 50 years later, the album is still a tough one to beat.

1977 Classic Was a No. 1 Best-Selling Song Released by ’60s Rock Legend
In the winter of 1977, a soft Scottish folk song beat punk and disco to become the UK’s Christmas No. 1. The track was “Mull of Kintyre” by Wings, led by former The Beatles icon Paul McCartney.
The single stayed at the top of the UK charts for nine weeks and sold more than two million copies, per BBC, making it the first UK single ever to hit that mark. For years, it stood as the biggest-selling single in British history.
Released on Nov. 11, 1977, as a double A-side with “Girls’ School,” the song quickly raced up the charts. It held the No. 1 spot through December 1977 and into January 1978. Its record-breaking run lasted until 1984, when Band Aid released “Do They Know It’s Christmas.”

Unlike the loud rock hits of the time, “Mull of Kintyre” was gentle and warm. That contrast helped it stand out. While punk bands like the Sex Pistols and disco acts filled the airwaves, McCartney’s love song to Scotland quietly won over millions.
The Story Behind ‘Mull of Kintyre’The idea for the song began in 1974. McCartney later shared that he wrote the main melody years before finishing it. He completed and recorded the track in August 1977 during a break from sessions for the album London Town.
McCartney co-wrote the song with Denny Laine, a longtime member of Wings. Laine once recalled how the song came together at breakfast at McCartney’s farm in Scotland.
“Paul said he was having a go at writing a Scottish song but wasn’t sure how people would feel about it, an Englishman singing a Scottish song,” Laine said.
The next day, the pair sat outside with a bottle of whisky and looked at the hills and sea around them.
“We just looked around at all the hillsides and the glens and everything and just wrote the words and the rest of the song that afternoon,” Laine explained.
The song is about the Mull of Kintyre, the southwestern tip of the Kintyre Peninsula in Scotland. McCartney had owned High Park Farm there since 1966. He bought it as a quiet place to escape fame at the height of Beatlemania. Over the years, he said the farm helped him stay grounded, especially during the breakup of The Beatles.
According to Gold Radio, one key reason the song became unforgettable was the sound of bagpipes. McCartney invited the local Campbeltown Pipe Band to play on the record.
The music video was filmed in October 1977 at Saddell Bay, just a few miles from McCartney’s farm. The local band also appeared in the video, adding to the song’s strong community feel.
Even decades later, “Mull of Kintyre” remains one of McCartney’s most successful singles. It outsold any Beatles single in the UK at the time and is still considered the biggest-selling non-charity single in British chart history based on physical sales.

1977 Classic Voted 'Greatest Song Sung by Female Rockers'
When people talk about the greatest female rock singers of all time, the same names inevitably come up, year after year: Janis Joplin, Stevie Nicks, Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, Debbie Harry, Patti Smith, and, of course, Ann and Nancy Wilson.
It goes without saying that these women have earned their reputations as rock goddesses, but if you had to pick a "greatest" song sung by one of these outrageously talented vocalists, which one would it be? That's the question Ranker asked, and music lovers were quick to vote for their favorites.
The top 10 picks included tunes by nearly all of the women mentioned above, with some making repeat appearances. Coming in at #10 was "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac from the massively successful 1977 album Rumours, which happens to be shooting up the charts again 49 years after its release. Next up was Jett's "Bad Reputation" from her 1980 debut solo album of the same name.

Ranked at #8 was the utterly iconic Joplin's "Piece of My Heart" from her 1968 album with Big Brother and the Holding Company, Cheap Thrills, while Blondie's "Call Me" — released in 1980 as a single, when it also served as the theme for the movie American Gigolo — came in at #7.
Nicks popped up again in the #6 position with her 1981 hit "Edge of Seventeen" from her debut solo album, Bella Donna, followed by Benatar and her 1979 breakthrough single, "Heartbreaker" at #5.
The #4 spot went to the only song on the list from the '90s, "Zombie" by the Cranberries (1994), featuring late singer Dolores O'Riordan, with Jett popping back up again in third place thanks to her 1981 anthem "I Love Rock 'n' Roll," originally recorded by British rockers the Arrows.
The legendary Ann Wilson of Heart had the honor of taking both second and first place, with "Crazy on You" (1975) at #2 and "Barracuda" (1977) coming in first.
As Wilson later explained in an interview with Dan Rather, the lyrics to "Barracuda" were inspired by a "sleazy" guy's extremely inappropriate comment about her and sister/bandmate Nancy.
“Some really sleazy guy came up to me and implied to me that he was really turned on by the fact that me and Nance were lesbian incestual lovers,” she said. “That just really got him going in his fantasy, yeah. That made me so mad because I love my sister. Suddenly, my mother’s face, you know, came right up saying, ‘Don’t get into show business. It’s so tacky, full of sleazy people that are going to misunderstand you.’”
“It made me really angry, especially because I felt that they had attacked [Nancy’s] honor,” she added. "So, I went and wrote the words to 'Barracuda.' I just think, if I would have had a gun, I might have reacted differently to the guy. But thank goodness I didn’t.”
Decades later, that song is clearly still just as relevant as ever.

Fans 'Outraged' as 'Tell Me Lies' Comes to an Unexpected End With Season 3 Finale
Fans of Tell Me Lies are grappling with the unexpected end of the streamer series after it was revealed that the third season's finale would also serve as the series finale.
The show's creator, Meaghan Oppenheimer, announced the "bittersweet" news via her social media channels just hours before the episode in question became available to stream on Hulu, telling fans, "After three amazing seasons of Tell Me Lies, tonight’s episode will be the series finale."
It was a shocking revelation for viewers, one that felt like it came out of nowhere when they saw outlets start to share it.
Fans Wondered How 'Literally the Most Popular and Talked About Show Right Now' Could Come to Such a Quick Ending"You tell me the week of the episode, nay, THE NIGHT, that it’s the series finale?!?!" one vented, while another wrote in frustration, "Great. Another good show that's going to have a rushed or an unfinished ending."
"There’s no way the story is finished in tomorrow’s episode," someone else agreed. "I’m so annoyed. We needed at the very least one more season. Ridiculous."
"Do they not like money?" another wondered. "Cuz this is literally the most popular and talked about show right now! I’m outraged 😭💔."

"All good things must come to an end," one level-headed fan replied, "but why god why must it be this show?"
"I think they should seriously reconsider this," another suggested, as someone else pressed, "I feel like we are NOT even close to an ending!!!!!"
However, Oppenheimer tried to get ahead of any concerns about the seemingly sudden ending, revealing in her announcement, "This was always the ending my writing team and I had in mind, and we are insanely proud of it," calling it a "natural conclusion."
"My main goal has always been to protect the quality of the show and give you the best experience I can give you," she continued. "And so, while it is bittersweet to leave something that has been such a happy experience, I am very grateful that we are able to tell a complete story with an intentional ending - a privilege very few shows get."
If you've watched the finale already, what do you think? Did it end far too soon, or was the "natural conclusion" worth it?
