'Scarface’ Star Goes Incognito on NYC Subway

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 1:42pm

Fans of Brian De Palma's 1983 classic crime drama Scarface might have done a double-take on the New York City subway when they spotted Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, 67, who played Gina, Tony Montana's sister, riding along like any other commuter.

Photos shared by Page Six showed Mastrantonio on a West Village subway, nearly unrecognizable to fans. Wrapped in a black coat with earmuffs and black gloves, the actress held a shopping bag, riding alongside everyday New Yorkers without drawing attention.

Scarface was Mastrantonio's very first big-screen role, in which she appeared alongside movie greatsAl Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer. Before landing the major movie role, Mastrantonio was known for her work on the Broadway stage, most notably as an understudy for the role of Maria in West Side Story in 1980.

Mastrantonio's movie career soared after Scarface, later nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for the 1986 film The Color of Money, which starred Tom Cruise and Paul Newman.

She continued to find success in film, starring in 1989's The Abyss, 1991's Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and 2000's The Perfect Storm. In 2003, she earned a Tony nomination for Best Actress in a Musical after starring in the Broadway revival of Man of La Mancha.

Her most recent role saw her portray Isabella Spezzano in three episodes of Law & Order: Organized Crime last year.

Mastrantonio has been married to her husband, film director Paul O'Connor, since 1990, and the couple has two sons. When asked which of her roles she treasures the most, she sweetly replied toThe Associated Press in 2013, "I think parenting is the most humbling experience."

Donald Trump Says Nancy Guthrie Abductors Will Face Death Penalty If She Dies

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 1:27pm

Nancy Guthrie, mother of TodayShow co-host Savannah Guthrie, remains missing more than two weeks after her disappearance from her home on February 1, and while investigators have not confirmed that this was a kidnapping, President Donald Trumphad strong words to share about the consequences for Guthrie's possible kidnappers if she is found dead.

Per TMZ, during a phone call, Trump told The New York Post that the possible abductors would face "very, very severe—the most severe" federal consequences if Guthrie is ultimately found dead. In response to the follow-up question regarding whether this meant the death penalty, Trump reportedly answered, "The most, yeah... that’s true."

These comments come on the heels of multiple updates regarding the case, including Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos indicating that investigators are "stuck" on the motive for a possible abduction of Guthrie and a statement from investigators that it could take "months or years" to find Guthrie.

At present, Guthrie is not confirmed to have been kidnapped, although that is Nanos' theory. Numerous factors within the case have contributed to not only Nanos' opinion but also public belief that Guthrie may have been kidnapped, including the footage of a masked intruder, the ransom notes, blood found on her property and the recent evidence involving a glove found on Guthrie's property.

Guthrie's current status, not only in terms of whether she remains alive but also in terms of her health in general, is also unknown, and investigators previously shared that there has been no proof of life thus far (despite the ransom notes). However, that doesn't mean Guthrie is presumed dead—far from it.

Investigators and Guthrie's three children, Savannah Guthrie, Annie Guthrieand Camron Guthrie, seem to be keeping hope alive as the search remains ongoing. Should the worst be uncovered, and Guthrie be found dead, however, it seems that President Trump would fully advocate for the death penalty for any potential abductor(s).

Sheriff Chris Nanos Mentions Tommaso Cioni and Annie Guthrie in New Interview

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 1:26pm

Since Nancy Guthrie went missing back on Sunday, Feb. 1, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding her immediate family, particularly her daughter Annie Guthrie and Annie's husband Tommaso Cioni. It seems as though the public has been curious about the couple as they were the last two people to see Nancy, 84, before she disappeared.

In a new interview with the Daily Mail, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos talked a bit about how much communication he's had with Nancy's family over the past couple of weeks.

"I stay in touch with them, mostly Savannah. I've not been in touch with Tommaso or Annie too much," he said. "I have talked to them a little bit, but I know the investigators are in touch with them. But I've really told people, this is a lot of stress. If he [Cioni] is guilty, if he's the one who did it, and we're able to prove that, then at that time jump on it but don't come out of nowhere with this."

"I understand the pundits are out there. They're gonna say, well, he's the last one to see her alive. We understand that stuff. But, my goodness, you're putting a mark on somebody who could be completely innocent. And more important than that, he's family," Nanos continued.

Nanos has confirmed that no one has been ruled out as a suspect or person of interest in the case, which is still very much ongoing.

According to the department's timeline of events that occurred before Nancy went missing, she took an Uber to her daughter's home about four miles away on Saturday, Jan. 31. The family had dinner and played some games before Nancy was driven back to her home. Nanos previously told The New York Times that it was Cioni who dropped Nancy back at her house around 9:48 p.m. local time. However, Nanos said that he's no longer confirming that it was Cioni that drove Nancy home. The reason?

"We know who it is, but… when we saw everybody was attacking everybody and saying it's this we just thought, you know what? We'll say it was family," Nanos told the Daily Mail.

On Wednesday, Feb. 4, former NewsNation reporter Ashleigh Banfieldshared some unverified information on her podcast, Drop Dead Serious. She said that she had a law enforcement source that told her that Cioni might be a "prime suspect" in the case—a claim that Nanos previously denied by saying that there weren't any suspects identified in the case at the time.

View this post on Instagram

Over the past week or so, Banfield has said that she stands by her original intel.

Cioni has only been seen a handful of times since Nancy's disappearance. In photos published by Page Six on Feb. 4, Annie and her husband were seen driving together, both covering their faces from the cameras. Cioni was also seen outside of his home in the early days of the investigation, but he hasn't been seen since. He also hasn't spoken out about the disappearance on his mother-in-law.

Annie had appeared in two videos alongside her sister, Today anchor Savannah Guthrie, and their brother Camron Guthrie. However, Annie has not been seen since Feb. 7.

Cardiologists Are Begging People Over 50 To Take This Heart Risk Seriously

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 1:25pm

Turning 50 is a major milestone that deserves to be celebrated. Your gray hair and wrinkles are outward signs of all the wisdom you’ve acquired over the past five decades of life. But after all the celebrating, it’s time to lock in to what you need to do to stay healthy for the next 50 years.

After 50, the risk for certain health conditions increases significantly, including for heart disease, heart attacks and strokes. That’s not exactly fun to hear, but the good news is that these risks can largely be mitigated with healthy diet and lifestyle habits in place.

Knowing what your cholesterol and blood pressure numbers are is another crucial part of supporting your heart health after 50. Dr. Maria Delgado-Lelievre, MD, a cardiologist and the founding director of the Comprehensive Hypertension Center in Miami, Florida, recommends regularly monitoring blood pressure at home in addition to having it checked during routine doctor’s appointments.

There’s one super common heart risk that cardiologists we talked to said they wished people took more seriously. Brushing it off can lead to major health problems down the road and could even be life-threatening. Keep reading to find out what it is and for guidance on what to do if you have it.

The Heart Health Risk Cardiologists Wish People Would Take More Seriously

Back when you were in school, how did you feel when a “C” or “D” landed on your report card? Did you obsess over how you could raise your grade next semester? Or did you have a mindset of, “Hey, at least I passed?” The latter may not have held you back in school, but it’s not an attitude you want to adopt when it comes to your heart health. Cardiologists we talked to shared that they wished people with borderline high blood pressure would take this health risk more seriously.

Related: Here's Exactly What Happens to Your Blood Pressure When You Eat Salmon

What even is borderline high blood pressure? Cardiologist Dr. Nieca Goldberg, MD, explains that it’s a term for elevated blood pressure, which is a systolic (top number) blood pressure of 120 to 129 and a diastolic (bottom number) BP of less than 80. Dr. Delgado-Lelievre adds to this, explaining that full hypertension is defined as 130/80 mm HG or higher. Borderline high blood pressure is a stage between normal blood pressure and full-on hypertension.

“That early stage matters. It gives us a window of opportunity to improve regulation before long-term damage occurs,” Dr. Delgado-Lelievre says. She explains that high blood pressure happens gradually over time. Catching it when it’s on the cusp is a chance to intervene and stop its rising trajectory.

What To Do if You Have Borderline High Blood Pressure

Say you have borderline high blood pressure. Now what? Both cardiologists say that this is definitely a sign that you need to make some diet and lifestyle changes. They recommend following the DASH diet, which is an eating plan that was specifically designed to help lower blood pressure.

In one scientific study involving 810 people with high blood pressure, participants who followed the DASH diet for six months experienced a reduction in blood pressure by an average of 3.7 mm HG. Research shows that even a small drop in blood pressure like this is associated with a decreased risk of cardiovascular disease, heart attack and stroke. Every 5-mm HG reduction in blood pressure reduces the risk of cardiovascular events by 10%.

Related: Here's Exactly What Happens to Your Blood Pressure When You Eat Cheese

Besides changing your diet, Dr. Goldberg says that people with borderline high blood pressure should make sure they’re getting enough exercise (the American Heart Association recommends getting at least 150 minutes of heart-pumping exercise a week), be mindful of their stress levels and prioritizing stress-reducing habits if needed and make getting quality sleep a priority.

“With regular participation in lifestyle changes, you can see improvements in blood pressure in a few weeks,” Dr. Goldberg says. Dr. Delgado-Lelievre echoes this and recommends monitoring blood pressure at home weekly to track your progress.

Both cardiologists say that some people with borderline high blood pressure will be given blood pressure-lowering medication, depending on their risk for cardiovascular disease. Both say that while most people with borderline high blood pressure don’t need medication, it can be important for people who are having trouble improving their blood pressure through diet and lifestyle changes alone.

When it comes to blood pressure, don’t settle for a passing grade. Putting in the extra work to ace your next blood pressure test is worth the effort. It could prevent you from experiencing a life-threatening cardiovascular event in the future or having to take prescription medication. The old saying rings true: An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

The Louisiana Way To Make Frozen Corn 10x Better

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 1:20pm

I was born and raised in Louisiana, and when winter comes around and Mardi Gras approaches, my kitchen naturally shifts toward dishes that feel comforting and familiar. Gumbo simmers, red beans go in the Crock-Pot and the side dishes start pulling just as much weight as the main event. One of the most beloved, for me, is maque choux.

If you grew up anywhere near Cajun or Creole cooking, there’s a good chance you’ve seen a version of this corn-based dish on a family table, at a fish fry or next to a pot of étouffée. I grew up eating it in different forms—sometimes sweeter, sometimes creamier, sometimes smoky—depending on who was cooking and what they were serving it with.

Traditionally, maque choux is a summer dish when corn is fresh and abundant, but it’s one I crave year-round, especially during Mardi Gras season, and I know I'm not alone in that. Over time, I’ve started using frozen corn so I can make it whenever homesickness hits or when I want a taste of Louisiana comfort outside of fresh corn season.

I live in Pennsylvania now, and when I serve maque choux, I often get some questions. What exactly is it? How is it different from succotash? And how do you even say the name? I love sharing my heritage through food, so I'm always happy to explain.

Whether you grew up eating it or are discovering it for the first time, maque choux is one of those recipes that you will instantly love. It's unpretentious and unforgettable once you’ve had it done right, and I can teach you how to make it (and make it your own) with a bag of frozen corn.

What Is Maque Choux?

Courtesy Angel Albring

Maque choux is a traditional Louisiana side dish made primarily from corn that's slowly cooked with onions, peppers and fat until tender, creamy and flavorful. It is often described as a hybrid between a sautéed vegetable dish and a light stew, depending on how it is prepared and finished.

The dish varies by cook, but in Cajun homes, maque choux tends to be simpler and more rustic, including just the veggies and bacon grease. In Creole kitchens, it often includes bits of meat, such as ham, sausage or bacon, tomatoes, cream or additional seasonings, like Tony's Chacheres. An example can be seen in the video below, shared by content creator @goudeaulthyme.

@goudeaulthyme

Maque Choux (pronounced mack chew or mock chew) This is a quintessential Cajun dish that I use as a side for everything from simple burgers to steak or lobster. It goes with pretty much anything with its perfect mix of sweetness from the corn and veggies to the spice brought by the andouille and the richness bro if the by the natural starch from the corn and the cream. It was originally a Native American dish common down here that was adapted by the Cajuns and is now a cornerstone at any boucherie. ♬ As It Was - Harry Styles

Maque choux traces its roots to Native American cooking, and the dish was later shaped by French Acadian settlers and the agricultural rhythms of South Louisiana when the Acadians began to settle in the area in the 1700s. Over time, the recipe evolved, picking up regional variations and personal flourishes, from the simple bacon-greased corn cooked with onions and pepper, to versions enriched with cream, tomatoes or okra. Some cooks even turn it a into heartier one-pan meals by adding shrimp, crawfish or sausage.

Maque choux is rich, slightly sweet, savory and aromatic, and can hold its own next to grilled meats and fried fish. In many Louisiana kitchens, it is not uncommon for it to be served as a light main dish with a piece of cornbread on the side. Typically, if you're serving it as a main, the maque choux will include some form of meat with the corn, like sausage or bacon.

How Do You Pronounce Maque Choux?

If you've ever hesitated before saying “maque choux” out loud, you're not alone. The spelling looks intimidating! The “maque” is pronounced like “mock,” while “choux” sounds like “shoe,” and the words often blend into a single smooth phrase.

What Does Maque Choux Mean in English?

The phrase “maque choux” doesn't have a literal translation into modern English. The name likely comes from a blend of French and Native American languages, reflecting the layered cultural history of Louisiana.

In practice, the name refers less to specific ingredients and more to the method of cooking them. Vegetables are cooked down slowly and stewed until softened. Over time, the term became attached specifically to the preparation of corn slowly cooked with onions, bell peppers and fat.

What Is the Difference Between Succotash and Maque Choux?

Succotash and maque choux are often confused, and at a glance, the comparison makes sense. Both feature corn as the main ingredient and both trace their roots to Native American cooking traditions.

Succotash is built around corn and lima beans, often lightly cooked and finished simply with butter and herbs. The beans and corn are distinct and fresh, not slow-cooked in animal fat.

Maque choux is more layered and aromatic. It relies on onions, peppers and sometimes celery, and the vegetables are cooked slowly until they begin to soften and meld together. Beans are not traditional in maque choux, and the dish leans richer than succotash because it uses bacon grease and it is sometimes finished with cream.

Ingredients for Maque Choux

Courtesy Angel Albring

You'll find that there are a lot of variations on this dish, but there are some non-negotiables for a traditional maque choux. Many people use fresh corn, but I use frozen. Either way, you need corn, onion, garlic, bell peppers (I use yellow, red, green and orange, some people only use one or two types), bacon grease and butter (some people only use one or the other, but I use both), salt, pepper and Cajun seasoning.

I also use a bit of chicken broth (less than 1/4 cup) and the same amount of heavy cream. Some people don't use these ingredients, but I like how they make the corn rich and creamy.

Additionally, I will often add bacon to the corn if I'm serving it as a main meal with cornbread, but if it's a side dish, I skip the bacon chunks. Some people add ham or sausage.

As for measurements, it's really all about how much you want to make and how much you enjoy seasoning and garlic. I use four cloves of garlic, or about two tablespoons of jarlic (if you want to make things even simpler) and half an onion for my typical maque choux. When using frozen corn, I typically use a one-pound bag. For this recipe, I doubled everything because I knew I'd want extra for lunches throughout the week.

How To Make Maque Choux

Making maque choux begins by building a slow, fragrant base. Warm the bacon grease and butter in a wide skillet or heavy pot. Sauté the onions, garlic, peppers and celery (if using) for about 5-10 minutes, until they are soft.

Courtesy Angel Albring

Once the aromatics are tender, add the corn. If using fresh corn, put it all in at once. If you're using frozen corn, only put in half the bag to start and cook for about five minutes. Add the broth and cream and give everything a good stir, then add the rest of the corn.

Courtesy Angel Albring

Lower the heat, cover the pan and cook the corn slowly, stirring occasionally. At this stage, add the seasoning and tomatoes (if you're using them). The goal is to create a dish that's tender, glossy and cohesive, not soupy or dry.

4 Tips for Making Maque Choux

Ready to get cooking? Here are a few things to keep in mind.

1. Keep an eye on the corn

If using frozen corn, you can allow it to thaw completely, but that isn't always necessary. Just be aware that frozen corn will release moisture, so be prepared to adjust the cream and broth amounts. Canned corn works in a pinch, but lacks the sweetness and texture that make maque choux shine.

2. Make some swaps if you need to

You can use any onions you have on hand, but yellow onions are often recommended. For a lighter version, milk can replace cream without sacrificing too much richness.

3. Heat thing up

Heat lovers can add cayenne, chopped jalapeño or a few dashes of hot sauce, though moderation is key. The dish should remain balanced, not fiery.

4. Reheat it right

Maque choux stores well in the refrigerator for several days. Reheat it gently on the stovetop or in the microwave. A splash of milk or broth helps restore its creamy consistency. Leftovers are excellent spooned over rice or tucked into omelets.

Above all, treat maque choux as a living recipe. Adjust it, personalize it and let it become part of your own food tradition.

David Bowie Was a Fan of This Surprising Reality Show

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 1:15pm

Legendary English musician David Bowie was known for his unique persona and larger-than-life hair, makeup, and fashion looks, so it's perhaps no surprise that he was a fan of America's Next Top Model! The late "Starman" singer even called to congratulate one of the reality show's stars right after the premiere of Cycle 1.

"My phone rang and it was Iman that called," Jay Manuel revealed in the new Netflix docuseriesReality Check: Inside America's Next Top Model. "I had been working with Iman and her husband, David Bowie, on his Heathen album, and she said, 'We watched!'" That's when Ziggy Stardust himself got on the line.

"She hands the phone to David, and David said to me, 'You've found the place where you need to be,'" Manuel recalled. "I'll never forget it."

Manuel had a successful career as a makeup artist and creative director before finding his way onto the reality series, and it was the former that got him his most famous gig. He had been host and executive producer Tyra Banks' personal makeup artist, and when she needed a photo shoot director to round out the cast, his name was the first that came to her mind.

“Jay was such a visionary, one of the most talented creatives I’ve ever worked with,” Banks said in the documentary.

“My phone rang. I picked up, and it was Tyra… She’s like, ‘Oh my God, I have this idea.’ It was the excitement in her voice that made me respond,” Manuel recalled. “I had done a lot in my career at that point, but I always felt like I was trying to prove myself. Tyra gave me that trust.”

The show launched just one year after Bowie's Heathen album dropped in 2002, and was an instant hit. Sadly, Bowie died on Jan. 10, 2016 following a cancer battle. "RIP @davidbowie My prayers go out to @the_real_iman & family," Manuel wrote on Instagram at the time. "This [photo] was from one of my favorite shoots w/ them both…such fond memories. Every great band needs a marketing strategy. For the two rising brothers behind the British indie rock band, same.—Jimmy and Harry Morris—that strategy just happens to involve their dad dancing.

He made a simple promise: He would post a video of himself dancing every single day until his sons' band gets famous. No matter what. No excuses. Just pure, unfiltered dad dancing set to their music.

He has already been dancing for more than 100 days, which has gained him even more followers than his sons' band. "And that's got to change," he said in his last video, before busting out the moves.

The moves are exactly what you'd expect: enthusiastic, endearingly awkward, and completely committed. And that's precisely why people can't stop watching, which is undoubtedly helping the brothers go viral.

In December, same. landed on Music Gateway's Breakout Artist Program for Artists to Watch in 2026. Flash forward, and the brothers and their dad are gaining recognition across the pond, from the UK to Canada.

"Never in a million years did I think I would be dancing on national television in Canada, or interviewed live on the radio!" the dad shared in another post. "What fun! Love you all, world, see you tomorrow!"

View this post on Instagram

The campaign's consistency is part of the magic. Social media thrives on repetition and anticipation, and followers are checking in daily to see what the next dance will look like. Will there be props? A new outfit? A surprise location? The predicatability and unpredictability—paired with total sincerity—make these videos feel authentic in a way polished marketing campaigns rarely do.

What started as a cheeky but wholesome show of support has quickly turned into something much bigger.

"It finally feels like it's actually really happening, and that's all thanks to you guys… and our dad," the brothers wrote in an Instagram post. "But, in all seriousness, thanks so much for being here."

View this post on Instagram

As the dad's videos rack up views, so do streams of his sons' songs. Curious viewers click through to hear the music behind the viral clips. Comment sections are filling up with people tagging friends, sharing the story, and praising the family's commitment.

In January, same. dropped a single, "if I had it my way," and released their debut EP, optimistic, not naive.

View this post on Instagram

"We have a very limited run on CD," the brothers have stated, adding that it includes three exclusive piano versions. "We are calling it optimistic, not naive because all the songs on there are about finding the silver lining after hardship."

View this post on Instagram

Whether same. hits it huge tomorrow or keeps building its reputation in the indie music scene one day at a time, one thing is clear: Their dad's joyful determination has already made them stand out. Fame may take time, but thanks to their dad's daily dance mission, they're closer than ever. It's a full-on feel-good movement for which people want to root.

If you’ve compared the prices of Peri Home bedding elsewhere, this markdown really stands out. At another major retailer, the brand’s sheet sets currently sell for $58 to $107, even with discounts, with original prices as high as $215. It works especially well layered with crisp white bedding, velvet throw pillows, or even a neutral quilt to let the print stand out. 1989 Hit Ranked ‘Best Karaoke Song’ of All Time

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 1:09pm

There are few things more stressful than trying to think of a song to sing at your local karaoke bar. Luckily, Madonna has had us covered since 1989.

Last December, Time Outranked the 20 best karaoke songs of all time, compiling a list of some of the top song choices for a night out. Beating out both NSYNC's "Bye Bye Bye" at No. 2 and Bon Jovi's "It's My Life" at No 4, Madonna took the top spot with her iconic hit, "Like a Prayer."

"Like a Prayer" was released on March, 3 1989. Despite its current status as a legendary pop hit, it started out surrounded by controversy. The track was intended to debut in a Pepsi ad, with the soda company reportedly signing a deal with her for five million dollars. However, after the subsequent music video stirred public uproar due to its depiction of what some considered "blasphemous" imagery, Pepsi pulled out of the partnership.

Madonna performs on stage on her Blonde Ambition tour at Wembley Stadium, on July 20th, 1990 in London, England.

Pete Still/Redferns

Public disapproval didn't stop the song from garnering significant commercial success and critical acclaim, though, as it took the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart a month after its release. The song went on to achieve diamond status, topping charts in over 20 countries and selling over five million copies worldwide. The monumental hit also earned a viewer's choice award at the MTV Video Music Awards.

"Like a Prayer's" personal lyrics, emotional vocals and up-beat rhythm marked it a prominent track in pop music, persevering today as a still-relevant song in pop culture and solidifying Madonna's ability to blend social commentary with catchy, radio-friendly music. And, of course, it has gone down in history as the perfect choice to queue up during karaoke night.

"Hi, everyone. I wanted to take a moment to speak to you directly," Gilbert, 61, began the video message. "As many of you know, I stepped away for a little while to focus on my family. It was time I needed, time to be present, to tend to what matters most, and to gather my strength in a season that has not been easy."

She continued, "Family is everything to me, and during this incredibly difficult time, I leaned into that truth fully. But something else carried me, too. You did. This extraordinary community at Modern Prairie. You wrapped me in love, even when I was quiet. I felt your prayers. I felt your encouragement. I felt your steady presence."

Later in the clip, Gilbert clarified, "Coming back to work does not change my commitment or my resolve in the journey that lies ahead for my family. That remains steadfast. That remains my heart. But it is important for me to step back into this work. It strengthens my mindset. It gives me purpose. It reminds me of who I am beyond hard days... So let's get back at it, together."

Gilbert deactivated her personal Instagram account in January, shortly after the news of Busfield's arrest warrant dropped, and it remains unaccessable, as of writing.

On Feb. 6, Busfield was indicted by a grand jury on four counts of criminal sexual conduct. He was granted release on his own recognizance on Jan. 20, as he awaits trial. Gilbert attended her husband's detention hearing and was photographed crying happy tears as the judge read the decision.

Busfield has denied all allegations against him. “They’re all lies, and I did not do anything to those little boys, and I’m gonna fight it,” Busfield said in a video obtained by TMZ in January. “I’m gonna fight it with a great team, and I’m gonna be exonerated, I know I am, because this is all so wrong and all lies. So hang in there, and, hopefully, I’m out real soon and back to work. I love everybody for supporting me, thank you.”

1972 Film Ranked Best Movie of All Time With a 97% Score on Rotten Tomatoes

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 12:28pm

A 1972 crime drama is the best movie of all time, according to Rotten Tomatoes. The Godfather, starring Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, and Robert Duvall, tops the list as it's one of the most critically acclaimed films that helped shape American cinema.

If you’ve never seen The Godfather, it's essentially about family, power, and the cost of loyalty. The film follows the wealthy and influential Italian-American crime family led by Don Vito Corleone, played by Brando.

At the center of the story is his youngest son, Michael (Pacino). At first, Michael wants nothing to do with the family’s mafia ties and tries to live a normal life with his girlfriend, Kay (Diane Keaton). But when his father is targeted and the family is pulled into a violent power struggle, Michael steps in to protect them. What starts as an act of loyalty slowly pulls Michael deeper into a world he never wanted to be a part of.

It's no surprise that The Godfather made Rotten Tomatoes' list, given its commercial success and its popularity. The movie is joined by some other great films to round out the top five, including the runner up, Seven Samurai from 1954 and Casablanca, which came out in 1942.

Most people who have seen The Godfather would likely agree with it being in the number one spot as the film seems to check all of the boxes that make an excellent film. From incredible writing and acting to impressive cinematography, The Godfather is widely considered a masterpiece.

Born on the 14th

If you were born on the 14th, you're not meant for a conventional path. Deep down, you know that you carry a wild, free spirit. Modern work culture often feels like a chain that restricts your potential. You're born to be innovative, creative, and curious, guided by Mercury, the cosmic messenger. Work culture often stifles such mindsets. Your life path seeks duality and opportunities for expansion. Therefore, nothing fosters personal growth like the free time that comes with retirement.

You love learning and testing boundaries. You find deeper stimulation in travel, philosophy, and connecting with your community than in merely looking at worksheets. In the workplace, they may reach leadership positions or gain successful influence. Still, at their core, they long for a less rigid, more flexible lifestyle. Their instincts and impulses are often their greatest strengths, leading to breakthroughs. Unfortunately, modern work culture often pressures them into roles that they feel are too confining for their personalities.

Individuals born on this date often have a passion for the arts, an appreciation for philosophy, or a range of talents. They thrive when given free time to pursue what brings them joy, allowing their true potential to blossom. Generally, they maintain a positive outlook on life and can navigate the expectations of adulthood regarding productivity while still flourishing. However, they often discover the freedom they have been seeking by prioritizing their personal growth.

Tyra Banks Shocking Comment on Shandi Sullivan's Milan Assault in Netflix's Docuseries

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 12:19pm

Amid the drama involvingJay Manuel, Tyra Banks, and the production of the hit reality competition series, Netflix's Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model revisits the alleged sexual assault of model Shandi Sullivan. When asked about the incident, Banks offered a surprising response to what viewers saw unfold on screen.

The three-part docuseries that aired on Feb. 16 takes a look back at some of America's Next Top Model's most controversial moments. One of them was during Cycle 2, when Sullivan was reportedly assaulted during their trip to Milan, and was all filmed by the production crew.

When asked to elaborate and talk about what happened, Banks said, "I do remember her story. It’s a little difficult for me to talk about production because that’s not my territory."

Shandi, one of the guests for the docuseries, recalls going on go-sees that took all day and were chauffeured by Italian men on Vespas. She recalls having not been able to eat and going back to their rented home, where it was suggested that the Italian drivers visit for dinner.

The model, now 43, also recalls having drunk "two bottles of wine," having barely slept, and getting into a hot tub with the other models and the male drivers. Shandi recalls, "And then I just remember the guy looking at me and I looked at him. And I was pretty drunk at that point. Everything kind of after that is just a blur."

In a further elaboration, Shandi remembers being in the shower and then in bed when she "knew" sex was happening, but ultimately passed out. The following day, she was hit with the realization of what happened.

What caused controversy was ANTM production not stepping in and having filmed the entire encounter, as well as Shandi calling her boyfriend to tell him what happened. Shandi revealed that production had told her on the side that they were sorry for having filmed her private conversation. They also later documented her asking the Italian male driver if he was free of sexually transmitted diseases.

Executive producer Ken Mok also commented on the docuseries, how the models were told from the start they would be filmed 24/7, and they would "cover the good, the bad, and everything in between." Manuel also commented on the reality of production, seeing it as a "story" and wanting to see it all the way through.

Country Legend, 69, Issues Statement After Critical Flight Emergency Forces Concert Delay

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 12:15pm

Dwight Yoakam’s recent concert in Lubbock, Texas, didn’t go as planned for reasons that were beyond his control. On Thursday, Feb. 12, the country music icon, 69, was prepared to take the stage at Buddy Holly Hall, but he arrived at the venue nearly two hours late.

On Monday, Feb.16, Yoakam addressed the situation head-on, jumping on Instagram and other social media platforms to personally apologize to fans after confusion swirled around the delay. Directing his statement to those who bought tickets to the show, he cited an “emergency takeoff abort” as the reason for his brief absence.

View this post on Instagram Though His Situation Was Scary, He Shared a Statement of Remorse

“I want to personally apologize to the fans who bought tickets and attended our show in Lubbock, Texas, this past Thursday evening on the 12th of February,” Yoakam, widely regarded as a leading modern torchbearer for the Bakersfield Sound, began his lengthy statement. “It has only today been brought to my attention that, unfortunately, the circumstances surrounding my delayed arrival to perform the concert that night were not conveyed clearly by an in-person announcement from the stage but rather by a vague, anonymous PA announcement about a flight delay.”

According to EverythingLubbock, Yoakam’s show was scheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m., but his opener performed an extended set. Afterward, the venue's house lights came on, and an announcement told the crowd it was unclear when Yoakam would arrive. Yoakam reportedly reached the venue around 10:30 p.m. and performed past midnight.

He Set the Record Straight

“What actually happened Thursday afternoon was that we had an emergency takeoff abort as the aircraft was about to lift off from the runway due to a mechanical failure warning in the cockpit,” Yoakam said, clearing up any further confusion.

“Fortunately, the pilots handled the aborted takeoff with exceptional professional skill, and they were able to avoid anything more dangerous or catastrophic occurring,” he continued. “After taxiing back to the hangar and concluding that the issue with that aircraft could not be corrected, we were luckily able to be moved to a different plane and continue our flight to do the show in Lubbock approximately an hour and thirty minutes after my scheduled 9:00 pm stage time.”

Yoakam concluded his message with a direct apology to his fans, writing, “Again, I want to express my sincere apologies to all the fans in attendance that evening that the announcement about the reason for the show’s delay was not made from ‘onstage’ more clearly and respectfully. I am very sorry for any frustration and disappointment the delay caused.”

Luke Combs Says This Is the First Time One of His Own Songs Got Stuck in His Head

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 12:14pm

Even Luke Combs can't stop thinking about his latest single, "Be By You." The track arrives as he gears up for the release of his highly anticipated album, The Way I Am, set for March 20.

On Feb. 15, Combs shared on Instagram Stories that his heartfelt new track—evoking the same tender vibes as his hit single "Beautiful Crazy"—is the first time one of his own songs has actually gotten stuck in his head.

"So I’m sitting here making kids dinners, and a couple things. One, I look old as hell in this video. Two, ‘Be By You,’ I cannot get it out of my own head. It’s my first one of my own songs that I cannot get out of my own head," he began.

Combs went on to thank his fans for "loving the song so much," adding, "It’s been amazing to watch you guys, you know, make all our videos, and love the song. I just wanted to say thanks, I’m feeling very thankful this evening. Keep listening to it, and a lot more where that came from, so I hope you guys are ready for this album. I know I am, and I’ll see you guys on the road real soon.”

According toMusic Row, "Be By You" is one of 22 tracks on Combs' upcoming album The Way I Am. The singer has already released several songs from the record, including "Sleepless in a Hotel Room," "My Kinda Saturday Night," "Days Like These," "15 Minutes," "Giving Her Away," and "Back in the Saddle."

"Be By You" is also one of the few songs on the record that Combs didn't write himself, but he admitted it immediately "struck" him when he first heard it.

"I didn’t personally know any of the guys who wrote it, but the vibe and the melody immediately struck me. It’s one of those rare outside cuts for me, and I honestly think the song turned out perfect. The fans have really made this one their own, and releasing it just before Valentine’s Day felt like the right moment," he shared.

To coincide with his new album, Combs is hitting the road for the "My Kinda Saturday Night Tour," which kicks off in Las Vegas on March 21.

2018 Best-Selling Novel Ranked Among Top ‘Romance Picks’ from Oprah’s Book Club

Mon, 02/16/2026 - 12:12pm

When Oprah Winfrey selected An American Marriage as her 78th Oprah’s Book Club pick in 2018, it quickly became one of the year's most talked-about novels and now it's been ranked one of her top romance picks of all time.

Written by Tayari Jones, An American Marriage tells the story of newlyweds Celestial and Roy, whose life together is shattered when Roy is wrongfully incarcerated. Forced into a long-distance marriage sustained largely through letters, the couple grapples with loneliness, shifting loyalties and the question of whether love alone can withstand systemic injustice and the passage of time.

The novel explores how incarceration impacts not only the person imprisoned but also the partner left behind.

"His innocence feels more elevated because he has been jailed for a crime he didn't commit, but she also, as his wife, is being jailed for a crime she didn't commit either," said Jones in an interview with PBS. "And they really have to figure out, will they remain married while he's in prison? And, if they do, what does that mean to be married to someone you cannot touch?"

As Roy's sentence stretches on, Celestial finds comfort in an old friend, complicating her feelings about loyalty, identity and the future she once envisioned. Through their letters and evolving emotions, Jones examines how love can change under pressure and whether commitment can survive circumstances beyond anyone’s control.

The book went on to win the 2019 Women’s Prize for Fiction and became a New York Times bestseller. It also earned high-profile praise from Bill Gates and landed on Barack Obama’s 2018 summer reading list.

With its blend of intimate storytelling and broader commentary on the American justice system, An American Marriage remains one of the defining literary romances of the late 2010s. It's no surprise, then, that it's also a standout romance pick from Oprah’s celebrated book club legacy.
