Al Roker Breaks Silence on Retirement Rumors After 30 Years on 'Today'
Only a few short weeks after celebrating his 30th anniversary as part of NBC's Today show team, Al Roker is opening up about his future plans and potential retirement in the immediate years ahead.
As expected, the 71-year-old's anniversary celebration caused many people to wonder whether the longtime weatherman might soon step away from Today. Speaking with People magazine in a recent interview, Roker promptly put those rumors to rest, plainly stating he has no plans to retire at any point in the near future.
"Well, let’s put it this way. I haven’t thought about retirement. Somebody at NBC, that might be a different story," Roker joked.
As most viewers might readily know, Roker has been a key part of the Today show team since replacing Willard Scott in 1996. In the decades since, the affable Roker has become a beloved fixture of the NBC program, with countless viewers voicing their appreciation for Roker's humor, personality and agreeable rapport with his on-air colleagues.
"I love what I do,” Roker told People. “I feel good. I love this job. I love doing it. At some point I guess I won’t be, but I don’t feel like that’s anytime soon, so I’m just gonna keep going."
In spite of his optimistic view of the future, Roker was quick to acknowledge that he, like every reporter on Today, are only temporary employees on the show. With that being said, Roker said it is a definitive inevitably that he'll eventually step away from Today at some point down the line.
“I think that’s the beauty of the broadcast is that the mission over these 74 years has not changed,” Roker said. “The way we bring it to you may have, and look, the fact of the matter is we are each temporary custodians of this legacy … at some point I won’t be part of the show, somebody else will be, but to be part of a pretty cool club is very special. To say that this was a dream job isn’t really accurate because it never dawned on me that I could be on the Today show.”
Detectives In Nancy Guthrie Case Are 'Stuck' On Motive, Sheriff Reports
The search for Nancy Guthrie, mother of TodayShow co-host Savannah Guthrie, has been ongoing for more than two weeks since the 84-year-old went missing from her home on February 1, but as the case enters its third week, detectives are reportedly "stuck" on what the motive could be.
Per People, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos explained, "This is somebody who's disappeared from the face of the earth, and now we have a camera that says here's the person who did this...And that's what makes me say this is a kidnapping. The motivation for it is where we get stuck, right? Is it for money? I mean, we had the one demand where they asked for money. But is it really for money, or is it for revenge for something?"
Particularly notable in these comments is the fact that revenge has not been ruled out as the possible motive behind Guthrie's potential kidnapping. In Nanos' opinion, it's less likely that this is a case of a burglary that went wrong, particularly because of the camera footage showing a masked intruder.
This case has captured international public attention because of its many complex factors. Recently, investigators have also indicated that it could take "months or years" to find Guthrie, which has heightened concerns about her safety and well-being long-term, particularly in light of ongoing worries about the life-saving medication that she requires.
Guthrie's three children, Savannah Guthrie, Annie Guthrieand Camron Guthrie, have put out videos and statements, pleading with the possible kidnapper(s) to return their mother to them safely.
Early in the investigation, the notion that Nancy Guthrie could have become confused and wandered off was ruled out, as she was reportedly of sound mind. However, various ransom notes and evidence, such as blood at the crime scene, have increasingly garnered media attention and concern about Guthrie's current status.
’60s Rock Legend Gives Dylan a ‘Softer’ Spin — Fans Split on the Best Version
Back in 1969, The Beatles came together in the (now notorious) Get Back sessions, a catalyst in their eventual breakup the following year.
While quarreling with Paul McCartney and John Lennon about his lack of autonomy in the band, George Harrison temporarily quit the group.
"I think I’ll be leaving the band now… Get a replacement," he said on his way out, per Time.
As history shows; he, of course, rejoined the band for their final year together.
These sessions, however, led to the start of his illustrious solo career—and during this time, he recorded a cover ofBob Dylan's "Mama, You've Been on My Mind" that wasn't unearthed until 2012.
Originally recorded by Dylan, 84, in 1964, "Mama, You've Been on My Mind" made its rounds as a bootleg before its official release in 1991.
The song shows a man lamenting over a woman he's not seen or spoken to in awhile, and everything seemingly reminds him of her.
The colors painted in the sky by a sunset, the wind in the air as he contemplates her fate.
While the narrator repeatedly tells this woman he doesn't want her back or mean any disruption, reassuring her that his own life is fulfilled without her—that he "got no place for you t'go"—she more or less exists within his mind, despite it all.
Such poetry exists at the hand of Dylan more often than not, but when it comes to Harrison's cover, fans appreciate his "softer" approach.
"In the song, Harrison preserves the same melancholy that Dylan cultivated, but in a softer way," notes American Songwriter.
"Dylan’s rendition is harsh, and that is certainly a product of his voice, but Harrison’s is rounded, which in turn lines the song in a romantic, sympathetic contemplation."
Under the video of Harrison's cover uploaded to his official YouTube channel, many comments reflect the sentiment.
"It's hard to imagine that this song is just a cover of a demo. The fact that it might never be heard is scary," wrote one user. "George was a genius."
Another added: "George Harrison doing Bob Dylan. You know that would be a home run."
"One of the most beautiful recordings in existence," penned a third.
Harrison died on Nov. 29, 2001, at the age of 58.
'When Calls the Heart’ Star Pascale Hutton Teases Rosemary’s Bold New Role: 'She’s in Her Prime and Glory' (Exclusive)
After 13 seasons of When Calls the Heart,Pascale Hutton believes that Rosemary Coulter has evolved with every new relationship in her life and really shines in an upcoming episode, "Take Two."
Still reeling from the loss of her beloved Playhouse, Rosemary channels her grief into creativity by directing a silent film and rallying the entire Hope Valley community to participate.
As usual for this powerhouse, Rosemary is juggling more than most. She’s worried about the recent panic attack suffered by her husband, Lee (Kavan Smith), raising her young daughter, Goldie, and fostering Gwen (Alex Maclsaac), a strong-willed young girl from nearby Benson Hills who desperately needs stability after her father is hospitalized. Rosemary and Lee rise to the occasion with open arms.
“Rosemary started in the series quite self-involved and quite honestly, selfish. She came to town very self-serving, wanting to win back her ex-fiancé, and I don’t know if she had any intention of staying in Hope Valley,” Hutton recently told Parade.
Erin Krakow and Pascale Hutton in the Hallmark series, 'When Calls the Heart'But everything changed. Through her marriage to Lee and her deepening friendship with Elizabeth (Erin Krakow), Rosemary gradually discovered her place in the community. “She became integrated into the community, experienced tremendous growth, and saw the value of it,” she said, “She realized that she is one small part of a bigger picture and that her zest for life and creativity could be an asset to other people in this community – this is a huge evolution.”
Now, in addition to running the local newspaper and starting her own radio program, she decides to tackle the role of film director. This bold, theatrical turn feels perfectly suited to her. “It felt like Rosemary in her prime and in her glory, taking charge, bossing people around, creatively dynamic and at the forefront of it all. I loved that episode; it felt spot on.”

Creating a sweeping silent-film romance offered a refreshing departure from the emotional weight Rosemary has carried this season as mother, foster mother, and support person for the displaced Benson Hills families, who came to Hope Valley after losing everything in a tragic fire.
“This season, we hadn’t seen Rosemary so full of vigor,” Hutton said. “So, it felt well-earned and just so right in the best way.”
Teasing the remainder of Season 13 — without spoilers — Hutton said fans should expect some simmering relationships. “We couldn’t have When Calls the Heart without a hefty dose of romance,” Hutton said.
Kavan Smith and Pascale Hutton in the Hallmark series, 'When Calls the Heart'When it comes to more family-oriented storylines, Hutton said that Gwen came to the Coulter family “as an act of doing what was needed. Here is a little girl who doesn’t have anybody to care for her and doesn’t want to go with anybody. So, maybe we can convince her to come and stay with us because she is fond of Goldie, and that can kind of work.”
Family, however, remains the center of Rosemary’s journey, particularly when it comes to Gwen. While Hutton says that taking Gwen into their home wasn’t part of any grand plan, “There was an immediate need that had to be dealt with.”
She added, “What ends up transpiring is that her dad is injured, staying in the hospital and she can’t go to see him. So they have had to step up and take more of a parental role in Gwen’s life, and that hasn’t gone so smoothly.”
Looking ahead to this relationship, Hutton said, “As far as Rosemary and Lee, I don’t think the story of them with Gwen is done, yet; there’s more to go with Rosemary and Gwen,” she added. “And we see the evolution of that relationship between those two females finding their way to each other on their own terms and in their own time. It is really respectful and tender, the way it is written.”
Season 13 has greatly tested the mettle of the Coulter family, including the burning of Goldie Park, the loss of Rosemary’s beloved Playhouse, and Lee’s recent panic attack, which he initially thought was a heart attack.
“Rosemary takes her role as Lee’s wife very seriously, and she put a pause on everything so that she could be there for him,” Hutton said. “She approached it as she does most things in life; with great gusto!”
Ellie Sweiss, Kavan Smith, and Pascale Hutton in the Hallmark series, 'When Calls the Heart'When it comes to family dynamics, Hutton, the mother of two sons, one 10, and the other 15, says she is extremely excited about the three babies who are expected to come to Hope Valley for Season 14.
“My three good friends – Erin Krakow, Kevin McGarry, and Chris McNally -- are all having babies that I get to cuddle and nuzzle with. “People tell you all the time how fast it goes, but I just don’t think you realize it until a decade has gone by and you’re like, ‘holy cow.’ It really does go fast!”
Among the prominent guest stars this season is Melissa Gilbert, who returns as forensic inspector Georgie McGill.
“Melissa is great. She’s incredibly energetic and positive and supportive and has fabulous stories,” Hutton said. “She’s incredibly prepared, which is really nice to see from somebody who’s been working in this business for such a long time. She just has this innate work ethic, which is extremely inspiring.”
After 13 seasons, Hutton says her connection to Rosemary remains as strong as ever. “I really do love Rosemary. I think she’s so dynamic, fun, and challenging. What’s changed for me over the years is that not a second goes by in which I would take any of this for granted!”
When Calls the Heart airs on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/7 CT on Hallmark and the next day on Hallmark+
'70s TV Legend Reveals the Moment a Fan Went Way Too Far
Lindsay Wagner once shot down a fan request during her heyday as The Bionic Woman. The actress, who played superhuman special agent Jaime Sommers on The Six Million Dollar Man spinoff from 1976 to 1978, revealed that while she enjoyed meeting with fans—and still does—one request went too far.
“I was at an event in one of the big hotels,” Wagner, 76, told Woman’s World in a Feb. 2026 interview. “I went into the ladies’ room, went into a stall, and a hand and a pen came under the stall door. I was absolutely in shock.”
“All of a sudden, I had this image of the devil on one shoulder and the angel on the other,” Wagner continued. “The devil was saying, ‘Take the paper, put a little DNA on it and hand it back.’ And the angel was saying, ‘Don’t do that.’ But what I did say was, ‘Can you please wait until I come out?’ And it just dawned on her that maybe she should think about that.”
“I just don’t understand how people think sometimes, but that one… that only happened once. Thank God,” she shared.
Wagner noted that she was not “always okay” with being approached for autographs when she was out with her family, but she finally found ways to handle it her own way. She revealed that she would offer a handshake or a quick hug if she was too busy to sign.

Lindsay Wagner’s sudden fame and her funniest fan requestIn a 2025 interview with Celebrity Drop, Wagner explained how she was eventually able to handle her sudden fame 50 years ago. "One of the things that I came to terms with was, first of all, that it wasn't going to go away,” she said. “And two, that I had to be okay taking care of myself in the face of what other people wanted. I guess you would say I set a boundary for myself.”
Wahner set one boundary for herself in a funny way back in the day. In a throwback video from Michael Aspel’s British talk show posted by Celebs Up Close on Facebook, the actress recalled her funniest fan encounter. Wagner revealed that during a publicity tour in England, a group of young fans asked her to pick up a tree and throw it over a building. The Bionic Woman star recalled that she was in a hurry, but that one little boy in particular kept insisting that she do something superhuman.
“I finally turned around and said, ‘How about if I just throw you over the building?’ And I went after him…and they ran away,” Wagner laughed.
Fifty years after The Bionic Woman made its debut, Wagner still interacts with fans. The classic TV star enjoys going to Comic-Con fan conventions and fan meet-and-greets.
Wait—Jeff Goldblum Is a Musician? Yes, and He’s Touring a New 2026 Album
Jeff Goldblum has built a career on left turns, but his latest one comes with a piano bench and, it seems, a shiny jacket. The actor is touring in 2026 with Jeff Goldblum & The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra on The 'Night Blooms' World Tour, a run that’s been announced as a spring-and-summer swing through high-wattage venues across Australia, the U.K., and Ireland.
The tour is billed around Goldblum’s forthcoming album Night Blooms, which is slated for June 5, 2026. This isn’t a one-off celebrity cameo, either. Goldblum has been releasing records with the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra for years, including The Capitol Studios Sessions (2018), I Shouldn’t Be Telling You This (2019), and Still Blooming (2025), all under the Decca umbrella. The 2026 dates are positioned as a full-on live presentation of the new material, not a novelty add-on to an acting schedule.
- Melbourne at the Palais Theatre (April 24)
- Perth (April 28)
- Brisbane (April 30)
- Adelaide (May 2)
- Sydney (May 5). The Sydney stop is being promoted as a special one-night performance at the Sydney Opera House, alongside The Metropolitan Orchestra conducted by Sarah-Grace Williams.
From there, the tour shifts to the U.K. and Ireland:
- Wolverhampton (May 28)
- Dublin (May 30),
- Glasgow (June 1 at Theatre Royal), and
- Manchester (June 3).
The standout, though, is London. Goldblum and the band are booked for June 30, 2026 at the Royal Albert Hall, a show described as featuring a 50+ piece orchestra in addition to the Snitzer lineup. The Royal Albert Hall’s own listing frames it as the group’s debut at the venue and notes ticketing details, which is usually a good indicator that this isn’t just a fan-service pop-up.
Fans who have seen Goldblum perform in the past are heaping on the praise.
' Random thoughts' wrote one fan:
- 'His stage banter game is top tier.'
- 'He may not be the greatest jazz piano player, but he respects the form and does a good job surrounding himself with talent.'
- 'It was nice to see someone just having fun on stage instead of trying to be a (quote unquote) serious musician.'
Another fan who had seen a previous show had this to say:
'They said our table was behind the stage. It was right behind. He kept looking back at us and winking, and between songs his guitar player would joke with us (the key changes are crazy—he has a book of jazz songs for a woman to match his voice, but he just shouts out a song so we have to convert on the fly. That’s why we keep coming in a half bar late.) Then he stayed and talked and took pictures with everyone after—he must have been there until 2 am. Great guy.'

Part of the appeal here is how familiar Goldblum feels, then how quickly he swerves. He’s a durable blockbuster fixture thanks to Jurassic Park and Independence Day, he’s been a frequent presence in Wes Anderson’s film universe, and he recently stepped into the role of the Wizard in Wicked. Yet the same guy also fronted a Disney+ docuseries, The World According to Jeff Goldblum, built around everyday fascinations like sneakers, ice cream, and tattoos.
This tour announcement is moving quickly because it offers something pop culture rarely does cleanly: a known name in an unfamiliar role, presented at a serious scale. A run that includes the Sydney Opera House and the Royal Albert Hall sounds is pretty hard to dismiss.
1960s Rockers Crowned the Best American Band of All Time
The harmonies, the California sound, and songs that defined a generation helped this 1960s group be crowned the Best American Band of all time.
The Beach Boys have long been synonymous with 1960s rock. Now, the legendary group behind a string of sun-soaked hits has solidified its enduring influence on popular music decades after first hitting the charts in 1961.
Ultimate Classic Rock ranked the Beach Boys as the leading American band, topping a list including top 10 entries Simon & Garfunkel, Eagles, R.E.M., Talking Heads, The Doors, Aerosmith, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Van Halen, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
The website states, "The Beach Boys were more than just a group that sang about girls, cars and surfing. In fact, there are few bands that have had a greater impact on popular music."

It continued, "Without their 1966 masterpiece Pet Sounds, there never would have been [The Beatles] Sgt. Pepper; without Smile, the follow-up record that broke down Brian Wilson and was shelved for decades, indie rock's DIY aesthetic would have sprouted in different, and less interesting, directions. And it didn't stop there: The Beach Boys' string of late-'60s and early '70s albums includes some of their greatest and most mature work."
The Beach Boys remain celebrated for their instantly recognizable harmonies and innovative vocal arrangements, which set them apart from other bands of the 1960s. Their music captured the spirit of California youth, blending surf, cars, and romance into a sound that was uniquely American.

Brian Wilson’s songwriting and production skills pushed the boundaries of what rock music could be, especially with albums like Pet Sounds, which showcased complex arrangements and emotional depth. Additionally, the band’s ability to combine catchy melodies with inventive studio techniques helped shape the future of popular music decades later.
Brian Wilson, Dennis Wilson, Carl Wilson, Mike Love, David Marks, and Al Jardine were the Beach Boys' original lineup, with the addition of Bruce Johnston in 1965 to handle lead vocals after Brian stopped touring. Throughout the years, a series of rotating musicians have moved in and out of the touring band, but its current mainstays remain Love and Johnston.
Dennis Wilson died in 1983, Carl Wilson in 1988, and Brian Wilson in 2025.
1967’s No. 1 Song Became a Hit Again 35 Years Later
In 1967, one song didn’t just top the charts—it became the biggest-selling single of the entire year.
More than three decades later, it climbed the charts all over again.
“I’m a Believer,” recorded by The Monkees, was the No. 1 song of 1967 and ultimately sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, making it the band’s biggest commercial success.
But one detail still surprises many fans: the smash hit wasn’t written by a Monkee at all. It was penned by Neil Diamond.

A No. 1 SmashReleased in late 1966, “I’m a Believer” shot to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed there for seven weeks. By the end of 1967, it had become the top-selling single of the year.
The song helped cement The Monkees as a pop culture phenomenon, fueled by their NBCsitcom and a string of chart-topping hits.
Though the band famously fought for more creative control in their early years, “I’m a Believer” became one of their defining tracks and remains one of the most recognizable pop songs of the 1960s.
A Second Life in 2001In 2001, the song found a whole new audience when Smash Mouth recorded a version for the blockbuster animated filmShrek.
The cover climbed back into the Top 10, giving the song a rare second chart life 35 years after its original release.
While Smash Mouth’s version peaked at No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100, it reached No. 4 on the Adult Pop chart and introduced the song to a new generation of fans.

Still a Fan FavoriteNow 80 and the last surviving member of The Monkees, Micky Dolenz continues to perform the band’s biggest hits on tour and tells USA Today that he has no interest in reinventing them based on his own experiences going ot concerts where the headliner doesn't sing their biggest hits or messes around with the arrangements.
"[I've] been to some very disappointing shows where the headliner doesn’t do anything except maybe one big hit," said Dolenz, adding that he makes sure he sings every song "in their entirety, no medleys and no screwing around."
“I’ve stuck with that, including arrangements and opening licks and hooks,” Dolenz said, adding, "To this day, I love singing them."

Looking back, Dolenz says he’s come to appreciate what made the band’s songs endure.
“I’ve learned to appreciate what makes a really good song,” he said, pointing to the powerhouse writers behind many of the group’s hits, including Carole King, Neil Diamond and others.
More than half a century later, “I’m a Believer” remains the band’s biggest song—a No. 1 smash that defined 1967 and proved it still had staying power decades later.
I’ve Been on 5 Cruises This Year—This New Downtown Miami Hotel Is My Secret to a Stress-Free Port Morning
As a travel editor, I’ve spent so much time at Florida cruise terminals this year that the baggage handlers are starting to recognize me. After five major launches in the last 12 months, I’ve learned that "port-morning anxiety" is a physiological event. Nothing spikes your heart rate quite like an Uber crawl through a crowded city while your ship’s departure time looms.
This is why The Gale Miami is a total game-changer for the traveler who values a "strategic luxury" approach. Positioned just 15–20 minutes from Miami International Airport and a mere 1.4 miles from the Port of Miami—a 3-to-6-minute zip depending on the light—it removes the logistics hurdle entirely. Located in the heart of Downtown Miami, it allows you to skip the neon fanfare of South Beach and instead experience a rising urban enclave that perfectly bridges the airport and the cruise port.
But the real magic happens before you zip up your suitcase. Because the hotel towers 51 stories over the skyline, you can actually see the cruise ships docked from your floor-to-ceiling windows. There is no better way to lower your blood pressure than sipping a cold brew from the lobby’s Café Gianna while looking out your balcony and seeing your ship waiting for you. It transforms embarkation morning from a race against the clock into a leisurely, sophisticated start to your vacation—and was my favorite "visual sanity hack."

Residence Living: The ‘Two-Bathroom’ MorningMe
View the 2 images of this gallery on the original articleIf there is one thing I’ve learned after sailing everywhere from the Sun Princess to the Celebrity Xcel this year, it’s that the "pre-cruise scramble" is the most stressful part of the journey. For the traveler who manages a mountain of gear, the standard hotel room is the enemy of a smooth morning.
The Gale isn't a traditional hotel; it’s a collection of suites and residences. For anyone traveling with a companion, the "one-bathroom scramble" usually ruins the first day of vacation. The Gale’s suites—each with dedicated, high-end bathrooms—eliminate that friction. Having that extra square footage means you can steam your "Day One" outfit and get ready in peace. Plus, the residence-style kitchen allowed me to keep my water cold and enjoy a quiet coffee without waiting for slow room service.
The real standout, however, is the massive wraparound balcony that functions like a second living room. From this perch, you have a front-row seat to the Kaseya Center and a clear sightline to your ship. At night, the view of the lit-up Signature Bridge (locally known as "The Fountain") with its glowing arches is pure Miami magic. Watching your ship glide into port at dawn while you eat breakfast on the balcony is a heart-rate-lowerer that ensures you board feeling refreshed, not rushed.
Spa Sanctuary: A Turkish-Inspired ResetThere is a certain emotional whiplash that comes with leaving a ship where everything is curated and heading back to a busy work week. By the time I checked into The Gale in January after boarding Wonder of the Seas, I needed a soft landing.
The 18,000-square-foot wellness floor is the ultimate tool to flip the switch from "office-mode" to "vacation-mode." Spending an hour in the Hammam or the steam room / cold plunge combo the night before embarkation helps you shed the stress of clearing your desk. Even if the sun is temperamental, the 9th-floor Gale Swim Club and its "Sky Sanctuary" pool deck keep the vibe alive. Whether you’re grabbing a final cocktail at the rooftop bar or using the massive gym to burn off pre-trip nervous energy, these facilities ensure the hotel feels like a legitimate mini-vacation.

Cultural Access: Miami at Your DoorstepM
View the 2 images of this gallery on the original articleFor the traveler who wants to maximize their 24 hours in Miami, location is the ultimate cost-saver. Often, staying near the port means being stuck in a "hotel desert" where a decent meal or a museum requires a 30-minute trek. The Gale, however, sits at the city's newest cultural heartbeat. You are literal steps from the Kaseya Center if you want to catch a game or concert, and a short walk to Museum Park, home to the Frost Museum of Science and the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM).
Because you’re so centrally located, you can turn a boring "travel day" into a legitimate day of sightseeing without the logistical nightmare. A quick, cheap Uber zip gets you south to the whimsical Museum of Ice Cream and the stunning Vizcaya Museum & Gardens. Instead of sitting in a lobby waiting for your boarding group, you’re actually experiencing Miami. It’s the smartest way to ensure your vacation starts 24 hours early, all while keeping your Uber app—and your budget—in check.
If cruising isn't your speed but the 2026 World Cup is, you’re in luck. The Gale is the perfect home base for the tournament this summer, located just across the street from the primary fan hubs and a straight shot to the matches at Hard Rock Stadium.

Smooth Sailing: Gourmet Dining Without Leaving the Lobby View the 2 images of this gallery on the original articleThe last thing I want to do after a long flight is navigate Miami traffic for dinner. One of the best perks here is the sophisticated culinary experience on the ground floor. I spent a Thursday night at Casa Gianna, where the Pappardelle Rosa di Ricotta—served with white truffle cream and lemon pistachio ricotta—was "no notes" delicious.
For the coffee-obsessed, a quick trip to nearby Wynwood leads you to Panther Coffee. Grab their signature Nitro Cold Brew or the "Miami Fog" and explore new neighborhood favorites like the vinyl-themed pizzerias or the world-renowned pies at Francesco Martucci. Closer to home, Bobe Kitchen & Bakery is a few blocks away, serving up the viral Dubai Latte (pistachio cream and chocolate) and incredible Mediterranean-style shakshuka that feels like a warm hug from a neighborhood Grandma.

The Verdict: Is the 'Pre-Cruise Splurge' Actually a Savvy Save? The "cheapest" hotel room is often the most expensive mistake you can make when you factor in the "stress tax" of a cramped room and distant Ubers.
- The Transportation Win: You save significantly on Ubers from both MIA and to the port, as you’re centrally located between them.
- The Meal Strategy: A full kitchen means skipping the $30-per-person hotel breakfast for coffee on your balcony.
- The Neighborhood: If you’ve had your fill of the South Beach party scene and want to see the "New Miami," this urban enclave is your spot.
- The Deal: Right now, look for the "Sun. Stay. Cruise." package, which offers 25% off room rates and complimentary cocktails. Frequent travelers can also use the "SUITE" code for up to 30% off suite stays and spa discounts.
Pricing generally starts around $185–$240 for standard rooms, but the 2-bedroom suites ($300) are the real "strategic luxury" play for groups. For more info, visit GaleHotelMiami.com.

Louis Bélanger-Martin Makes Tyra Banks Smize In a Big Way
Tyra Banks has been in the limelight for decades, but her love life has always seemed—at least on the surface—to be pretty low-key. However, just because she keeps her personal life private doesn't mean that it's actually that quiet!
The supermodel-turned-super mogul has dated A-listers in the past, but in recent years has opted for a quieter life with more under-the-radar types.
In April 2025, Banks gushed about her current partner, Louis Bélanger-Martin, in a sitdown on TODAY With Jenna and Friends, calling him "super supportive."
She also revealed exactly how she reeled him in (though, let's be real, being Tyra Freakin' Banks probably helped).
“So all these men, they throw a net [and say], ‘This one, this one, this one, this one' at the same time,” she said. She explained that men date several women at once and “narrow down until they find the one,” while women tend to use a "fishing pole" approach and only date one man at a time.
“Throw the net, ladies! And look at them and then go, ‘OK, I want you,’ because that’s what they’re doing to us,” she urged. “Louis was in the net, honey!”
Bélanger-Martin made such a big impression on her that she said, “[I] threw those fish out so quick, and I got the best goldfish.”

Banks is currently datingLouis Bélanger-Martin. They've been an item for more than half a decade! It's unknown when they first actually met and started dating, but they've publicly been together since August 2019, when they were photographed together for the first time. Rapper Drake revealed in a September 2013 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that he and Banks went on a single date in 2012 to Disneyland.
"I went on a date with her one time, yeah," he admitted as the comedian went through a slideshow of celebrities he'd been linked to in the press. "We went to Disneyland in disguise, actually, which was fun. I don't know if it was a date. It was a get-together. We're close as well."
About a month after their maybe-date, they were also photographed at a charity event.
Banks called out Drake in late October 2013 when she was a guest on The Steve Harvey Show ... and she did it in a rap: "Drake rhymes with snake but no he ain't, he's more like a lion / Going on Ellen but not lyin', telling the truth what's up dude, about that day on Disneyland / You ain't my man, right now / But why you gotta not kiss and tell, but chill and tell / You goin' to jail / And this is my Tyra mail."
The two remained friendly, however, with Banks appearing in Drizzy's 2016 music video for "Child's Play," the title of which hits much differently following his Kendrick Lamarbeef.

Banks was in a relationship with director and writer John Singleton in the early '90s. They met in 1993 through mutual friends, and Singleton reportedly asked her to be in his film Higher Learning (1995) afterward.
That said, Banks later denied that her relationship with Singleton was why she got cast as Deja in the movie, telling Women's Wear Daily at the time that she and Singleton had only been dating for four months and weren't yet serious when she signed on for the part.

“Hopefully, my performance [in the film] will get the attention and not the relationship,” she said, reiterating that Singleton first approached her about the role before they started dating. “I got insecure about it at first. But afterward, people were coming up to me and telling me how they loved this scene or that scene. I believed them. After working in the fashion business so long, you know when people are lying ... I told him, ‘People are going to say I got it because I’m your girl.’ No one has said anything to my face, but I’m sure it’s going on behind my back.”
'Happy Gilmore' Turns 30 Today: Where Is the Cast Now?
When the cast of Happy Gilmore got together to shoot their scrappy 1996 sports movie on a modest $12 million budget, they couldn’t possibly have known it would become the bona fide cult classic that it is today. But 30 years on, Adam Sandler’s sophomore big-screen outing—the unhinged tale of a hothead hockey player who takes up professional golf to save his grandma’s house—is still a fan favorite. It premiered in theaters on Feb. 16, 1996, making it 30 years old today (Feb. 16, 2026).
The movie’s staying power showed up in a big way in 2025, with the arrival of a long-awaited sequel on Netflix. "When I walk down the street a lotta times people will say, 'you ever gonna do Happy Gilmore 2?'" Sandler said ahead of the release. "And for 28 years, I was like, 'What are you talking about? No.' And then all of a sudden I was like, 'Maybe.'"
Whether the follow-up matched the original’s quotability is up for debate, but if nothing else, the sequel proved that fans were still deeply invested in Happy, Shooter and the rest of the Gilmore crew.
Keep reading to catch up with where the O.G. cast is now.
Happy Gilmore Cast: Where Are They Now?Adam Sandler (Happy Gilmore)By the time Happy Gilmore hit theaters, Sandler was already a household name with five seasons of Saturday Night Liveand a hit movie, Billy Madison, under his belt. But Happy Gilmore cemented his status as a major box-office draw and set the stage for him to build an entertainment empire with the launch of his production company, Happy Madison Productions. (The name, fittingly, is a mashup of his first two film titles.)
Over the years, the SNL alum has bounced between broad comedies (Big Daddy, Grown Ups), sweet rom-coms (Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates) and surprisingly acclaimed dramatic turns in movies like Punch-Drunk Love, Uncut Gems and Jay Kelly. While many Happy Madison releases have been critical punching bags, Sandler remains one of Hollywood’s most reliable audience draws. His long-running production deal with Netflix, which began in 2014, has turned out a steady stream of hits, including The Ridiculous 6, The Do-Over and Murder Mystery and its sequel, co-starring Jennifer Aniston.

Julie Bowen (Virginia Venit)After winning over fans as Happy’s sharp, no-nonsense love interest Virginia Venit, Julie Bowen stayed busy with roles on series like ER, Three, Ed, Lost and Boston Legal. But her career-defining turn came as Claire Dunphy on Modern Family, which ran for 11 seasons from 2009 to 2020 and earned her two Emmy Awards.
Bowen later re-teamed with Sandler for 2020’s Hubie Halloween and popped up again as Virginia in Happy Gilmore 2, although her return was short-lived. Just minutes into the sequel, her character—now happily married to Sandler’s titular golfer—is accidentally struck by a golf ball and killed off.
“When I found out that I was killed on page 12, I started laughing,” Bowen said of the plot twist. “I was on vacation with my family, and I had no Wi-Fi. I could barely read this thing—I only had my phone—and I was like, ‘Am I seeing this right?’ Trying to blow it up.”
Despite the abrupt exit, Bowen said she was eager to step back into Virginia’s shoes. “I was delighted to find out that Adam felt that Happy and Virginia had stayed together,” she said. “That’s cool.”
As for what’s next, Bowen is attached to star in an NBC comedy titled Taste, playing an editor at a legacy food magazine forced to collaborate with a buzzy TikTok chef after the publication is acquired by a tech company. But whether the project will ultimately make it to air is TBD.
Christopher McDonald (Shooter McGavin)Since his iconic turn as Happy Gilmorevillain Shooter McGavin, McDonald has been a TV staple, landing main and recurring roles on shows like Family Law, Harry’s Law, The Good Wife, Ballers, The Watcher and Hacks.
Still, it’s his over-the-top golf pro that fans seem to remember most. “I can’t go many places without people going, ‘Shooter!’” he said. “It kind of stops you in traffic a little bit, but I love meeting the fans and making their day.”McDonald reprised the role for Happy Gilmore 2.
Next up, he’s set to play Lionel Barrymore in the forthcoming Jimmy Stewart biopic, Jimmy.

Carl Weathers (Chubbs Peterson)Weathers, who played Happy’s one-handed mentor Chubbs, was already a legend for his role as Apollo Creed in the Rocky franchise. After Happy Gilmore, he continued acting steadily, popping up on shows like Arrested Developmentand Chicago Justice.
In more recent years, he introduced himself to a whole new generation as Greef Karga on The Mandalorian, part of the Star Wars universe. Sadly, he died of heart disease in 2024, at the age of 76, prompting an outpouring of tributes.
“A true great man,” Sandler shared on Instagram. “Great dad. Great actor. Great athlete. So much fun to be around always. Smart as hell. Loyal as hell. Funny as hell. Loved his sons more than anything. What a guy!!”
Weathers had been set to reprise his role in Happy Gilmore 2 before his passing. “We had a painful change. Carl Weathers had a massive part,” Sandler revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “I would talk to Carl, and we were excited, and then Carl passed away. We had to rewrite a lot of the stuff, and even what the story was. We made a lot of nice references to how great Chubbs was in the movie. That was the biggest change.”

Frances Bay (Grandma Gilmore)A prolific character actress, Bay had been stealing scenes for decades by the time she took on the fan-favorite role of Grandma Gilmore in Happy Gilmore. She worked steadily after the fact, too, with roles in shows like Charmed, Hannah Montana and The Middle, continuing to delight audiences until her death in 2011 at the age of 92.
Ben Stiller (Hal L.)Stiller played Grandma Gilmore’s cruel nursing home orderly, and even with a relatively small role, he became one of the movie’s most quoted characters. (“You can trouble me for a warm glass of shut-the-hell-up!”)
Already a rising star in the comedy world—and essentially born into it as the son of Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara—Stiller went on to become a major comedy heavyweight with hits like Zoolander, There’s Something About Mary, Meet the Parents, Dodgeball and Tropic Thunder. He later expanded into acclaimed directing work, including the Apple TV+ series Severance, and recently put out a documentary about his legendary parents, Stiller and Meara: Nothing Is Lost.
Not one to become too big for his britches, he returned to the role of Hal L. for Happy Gilmore 2.
Bob Barker (Himself)After Ed McMahon’s camp passed on the cameo, Barker stepped in to play a surprisingly tough version of himself, and the legendary The Price Is Right host approached the role with the same professionalism he brought to daytime TV. As Sandler once told The Dan Patrick Show, Barker showed up at 6:30 a.m. the day they filmed their now-iconic fight scene, stretching outside and ready to throw down.
Barker continued hosting his iconic game show for another decade-plus, finishing off his 35-year run in 2007, and died in 2023 at the age of 99.
“The man. The myth. The best,” Sander wrote on X (then Twitter) at the time. “Such a sweet funny guy to hang out with. Loved talking to him. Loved laughing with him. Loved him kicking the crap out of me.”
Kevin Nealon as Gary PotterNealon was already a familiar face from Saturday Night Live, where he overlapped with Sandler for five of his nine years, when he took on the role of smug pro golfer Gary Potter. After hanging up Gary’s polos, he went on to star in Weeds and guested on series like Hot In Cleveland. He’s also stayed busy on the stand-up circuit and now hosts a laid-back hiking interview show on YouTube.
Allen Covert as OttoCovert, who played Otto, the homeless caddie with a heart of gold, remained one of Sandler’s longtime friends and frequent collaborators, appearing in The Wedding Singer, Big Daddy, Mr. Deeds and more. He also stepped into bigger roles, including leading the cult comedy Grandma’s Boy, and has worked as a producer on several Happy Madison projects.
Is Nigel Barker The Real Winner of 'Top Model?' What Happened to Him After The Show (Exclusive)
For nearly two decades, Nigel Barker was synonymous with America’s Next Top Model—but perhaps his biggest wins came after.
Netflix’s Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model debuted on Monday, February 16. And as the documentary revisits the franchise’s more controversial moments, many fans have wondered, what actually happened to Barker after he left the judging panel?
In a clip obtained by Parade, Barker explained he had become “known for doing such elaborate photo shoots,” after his time on the show. “I also got booked to do those sorts of shoots in real life. I shot an entire book with Taylor Swift. I ended up working with Miss Universe and Miss USA,” Barker revealed.
For those who need a refresher, Barker served as the show’s resident fashion photographer and judge for 18 seasons, and was known for his polished critiques and elaborate, cinematic shoots. That creative reputation seemingly followed him well beyond the soundstage.
Still, his 2012 departure wasn’t exactly smooth. In April of that year, Barker, along with Jay Manuel and Miss J Alexander—who both appear in the doc—was abruptly let go as part of a major production overhaul.

“That was really tough, because it was somewhat mercenary. As people got eliminated on our show, we also got eliminated. We have three cards in front of us and none of you have made it,” Barker said.
The three-part docuseries promises to unpack the show and the drama behind the scenes—including allegations of exploitation, body shaming and toxic production practices. The film will include interviews from host and executive producer Tyra Banks, former judges and past contestants.
As the Netflix original prepares to revisit the show’s most controversial moments (including the infamous ethnicity-switch photoshoot to accusations of body shaming) Banks is addressing the franchise’s most criticized challenges and behind-the-scenes drama.
She’s also not ruling out a return. “I feel like my work is not done. You have no idea what we have planned for cycle 25,” she said, according to Entertainment Weekly. However no official revival has been announced at this time.
2000s Rock Band’s Signature Hit Surpasses 1 Billion Streams 26 Years After Release
Wheatus is celebrating a huge milestone after their iconic song landed on Spotify’s Billions Club.
In January, the streaming giant released a list of tracks that surpassed the 1 billion stream mark to be included in its curated playlist.
From classics like Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” to K-Pop hits such as “Kill This Love” by Blackpink, the list highlights some of the most-streamed songs of all time across genres and generations.
As the 2000s rock band officially joined the Billions Club, Wheatus delivered a special message to fans.
In an Instagram update, they thanked fans for helping their iconic hit “Teenage Dirtbag” top 1 billion streams, making it their only entry on the curated playlist.
Wheatus members Phil Jimenez, Peter Brown, Brendan B. Brown and Mike McCabe attend the Smash Hits Poll Winners Party at the London Arena on Dec. 9, 2001.“We’ve made it. 1 BILLION streams on @spotify. And right next to some absolute legends. Thank you so much, Dirtbags,” the post reads.
Fans flooded the comment section with congratulatory messages celebrating the band’s latest achievement.
View this post on Instagram“Congrats! Here’s to 1B more!” one wrote.
“Congrats on 1 BILLION,” another echoed.
“D-n, that’s some great company!!” a follower said.
A commenter recalled the time they first heard the band back in the 2000s, noting, “First Album I bought was your debut. Feels like yesterday. Congratulations guys!”
A solid fan also added, “Proud Dirtbag forever. Love you guys! So happy for you.”
Wheatus’ song “Teenage Dirtbag” was released in June 2000 as part of their self-titled debut album under Columbia Records.
Not only was it the band’s breakthrough hit, but the song also reached a wide audience as part of the soundtrack for the rom-com movie Loser, featuring Mena Suvari and Jason Biggs.
According to frontman Brendan B. Brown, who wrote the song, it was inspired by an imaginary scene from real-life moments.
“I’d had the riff in my head since college,” he told The Guardian, adding, “I wrote 'Teenage Dirtbag' lying on a futon staring at the ceiling in a rented apartment on Long Island, New York. The song is fictional, but has a bit of scenery from my childhood.”
Moreover, he also draws inspiration from rock legends like Metallica, AC/DC and influential hip-hop group Public Enemy, most especially with their music style.
“I wanted it to sound like Metallica and AC/DC from the waist up and Public Enemy from the waist down,” the Wheatus member shared.

‘Below Deck’ Star João Franco Says Anchor Mishap Nearly Turned Fatal
Below Deck Down Under second officer João Franco is opening up about the most dangerous moment he’s experienced at sea — and viewers may not have realized just how close the situation came to tragedy.
While serving as bosun on Below Deck Mediterranean Season 4, Franco recalled a frightening moment when deckhand and close friend Colin Macy-O’Toole was raising the anchor when it suddenly became stuck, forcing him to use all his strength to pull it free.
“[On board] Sirocco, we had a situation—I would say the deadliest that we’ve been through—with Colin,” Franco recounted on the Below Deck Down Under After Show. “He was pulling up the anchor, and he was looking over the side...the chain got caught, and it started accumulating on deck... Colin was trying to yank the last two links that were holding three and a half tons worth of weight. So when I got there, I went, ‘Colin, stop, stop, stop! F—king stop!’”
Franco says Macy-O'Toole could have been killed. “That there, I’ve known people who have lost lives, lost legs," he said. "It was such a short moment where we fixed it, and nothing happened, so it didn’t seem like a big deal, but it was one of the most heartfelt times I thought, ‘F—k, we almost lost someone.’”
This memory is likely why Franco reacted the way he did on Below Deck Down Under when deckhand Betul Yazici also ran into trouble raising the anchor. “Whenever we pull up anchor, the chain could pile up too high and too fast, and jam the system,” he said in a confessional during the episode. “The only way we can fix this is to let the chain all out and start the process again.”
Franco had to go into the bosun's locker to move the chain along–something that can also be dangerous. “Going into the bosun’s locker and then opening the chain locker is probably one of the most dangerous things you to do because of the enclosed space—you can lose oxygen immediately,” he said on the After Show. “And I’ve fought dizziness right away.”
By staying calm and working deliberately, Franco was able to untangle the chain despite the ordeal putting the crew nearly an hour behind schedule. “These things happen. We’ve had situations where we’ve almost lost an entire anchor. If we couldn’t get it up, we’d drop the anchor and keep going,” he said.
Below Deck Down Under is on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
'RHOP's Wendy Osefo Stands by Mugshot Smirk, Shares New Arrest Details
Months after her headline-making arrest, Wendy Osefo is setting the record straight, revealing new details at TheReal Housewives of Potomac Season 10 reunion and explaining the story behind her now-viral mugshot smirk.
Wendy and her husband, Eddie, were arrested in October 2025 for allegedly staging a robbery at their Maryland home to commit insurance fraud. The couple faces 16 charges, including seven felony counts, after allegedly falsely claiming that jewelry and designer items worth thousands had been stolen during a trip to Jamaica in April 2024.
During the reunion, Wendy explained what was behind her mugshot smile. “The guy who was taking my picture, he was really nice,” she explained. “He was like, ‘Give me another look, give me another.’ He was playing around with me because he knew it was heavy. I was crying in there. I was sad. So he was just trying to cheer me up.”
Host Andy Cohen wondered if she now regrets her reaction. “I don't regret smiling, because at the end of the day, I think we've all been through things, and you try to smile through the pain, no matter how heavy it is," Wendy replied. She added that neither she nor Eddie took edibles from their Happy Eddie brand, sharing that Eddie looked “far gone” because he had been asleep prior to his mugshot being taken.
Wendy said her children have handled the situation differently. Her youngest, Kam, remains unaware of what happened, while her eldest, Karter, realized something was wrong after unexpectedly staying with relatives and later discovering news about the arrests online. Wendy said the emotional moment led her and her husband to be fully honest with him moving forward, keeping him informed about court dates so he isn’t caught off guard by public updates.
The night she and Eddie spent in jail was scary, and Wendy is uneasy about what the future holds, but says, “But my faith is what's carrying me.”
The Real Housewives of Potomac is on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
2010s Rocker Shares the Heartfelt Reason Behind His Old-School Lifestyle
A 2010s rocker has revealed that he's embraced an old-school lifestyle, and the reason he's embraced a simpler life.
According to Billboard, Ed Sheeran told fans during a tour stop at Accor Stadium in Sydney, Australia, that he has been living without a phone since 2015. He added that he prefers it that way.
The reflective rocker told audience members about the 2015 $100 million copyright lawsuit regarding his No. 1 hit, “Thinking Out Loud.” In the suit, Sheeran was accused of similarities between the 2014 tune and the 1973 Marvin Gaye classic, “Let’s Get It On.”
“In the last 10 years, if you have seen my name in the news, it might be related to a lawsuit, a copyright lawsuit in 2015,” Sheeran began. “I got sued for a song by someone else that had said I had stolen their song, and the only thing I could do in that situation, because I hadn’t done it, was take it to court and prove that I hadn’t done it.”

He told the audience that, as part of the court case, he had to hand over all of his electronic devices, which were reportedly checked to see if any evidence related to the case was included on them. Subsequently, he stopped using a phone altogether.
Sheeran concluded, "I did a tour down here [in Australia] for 'Multiply' in 2015, and I remember at the end of that tour, I switched that phone off and going, ‘I do not want to use a mobile phone again.’ I moved to email, and I’ve used email since then.”
At the end of the legal battle, the musician had his devices returned to him. He admitted that when he turned them on, he felt as if he were in a "time machine" that took him back to 2007, when he first got the phone number he used for many years.
“It proper like spun me out. I was like frozen in time," Sheeran said of the messages and photos. This discovery led him to write the song "Old Phone" for his eighth studio album, Play.
In April 2025, Sheeran posted on Facebook, "I wrote 'Old Phone' whilst in India finishing my album. It came by accident, because I was jet lagged and woke up at 2 am. Everyone else was asleep, so I thought, ‘might as well write a song’ and this was the first idea in my notes."
Ed Sheeran is currently on tour throughout Australia, per his official website. His United States tour begins in June 2026,with dates scheduled through November.

Tyra Banks Still Refuses to Talk About the End of Her Friendship With 'Bestie' Jay Manuel
When Tyra Banks was shopping around the idea of America's Next Top Model, she immediately pulled in her personal makeup artist and friend,Jay Manuel, a.k.a. Mr. Jay, to be the photo shoot director. More than 20 years later, the former judge is opening up about what really went down behind the scenes of ANTM and in his personal friendship with the executive producer in a new Netflix documentary series.

"I considered myself besties with Tyra," Manuel said in Reality Check: Inside America's Next Top Model, released on Feb. 16. "She spent a lot of time at my house, sleeping over. When I went to L.A., I’d spend time at her house. You start sharing secrets. You’re very much in each other’s world."
The relationship transcended the professional world according to Manuel, who said, "She knew I’d do anything for her... I mean, I revered her." But things started to change, from an attempt to quit gone awry to his eventual firing from the show, and their relationship soured along with it.
How Jay Manuel Ended Up on America's Next Top Model 'America's Next Top Model' Stars Tyra Banks and Jay ManuelGetty
Manuel was the second member added to the cast of the Ken Mok-produced reality show, behind Miss J. Alexander, and the suggestion came straight from Banks herself.
"My phone rang. I picked up, and it was Tyra... She’s like, 'Oh my God, I have this idea.' It was the excitement in her voice that made me respond," he remembered in the docuseries. "I had done a lot in my career at that point, but I always felt like I was trying to prove myself. Tyra gave me that trust."

Manuel took on the role of photo shoot director, which meant that he planned all of the creative shoots during the early seasons of the show and helped instruct the girls on their poses throughout their challenges.
While he was initially passionate and excited about the work, things began to take a turn as they tried to keep the show "entertaining."
Jay Manuel Tried to Quit in 2007"As we reached Cycle 8, I felt things really changing... the creative of the show started to shift," he said. "We were supposed to be showing the behind-the-scenes of what the fashion world was, helping to change the industry. But the show had evolved in a way I’d never expected."
That meant controversial ideas came to the forefront, like making the girls swap races for photo shoots (including doing blackface) or having them represent different gruesome deaths (including making the daughter of a victim of gun violence pose with a bullet wound in her head).
Manuel was feeling as though he had less and less control. "Of course there were gob-smacked moments where you watch and you’re like, 'Oof, okay.' But it was certainly not my place to [speak up,]," he said. "I really struggled over some of the things that happened. And that was something that was slowly depleting me, chipping away at my soul."
"It was time to tell Tyra that I wanted to leave the show," he admitted.
Due to a pact they made early on, Manuel "knew he had to tell Tyra first," and "definitely did not want to make her upset," so he "tortured himself" over the decision and eventually opted to sent her a heartfelt email explaining that he was ready to move on. Banks didn't respond for three days.
"She ultimately wrote back just three words: 'I am disappointed,'" he shared. "After that email exchange, all communication just stopped."
Eventually, Manuel's attorneys were contacted by business affairs, who requested that he stay for one more cycle. And though the word "blacklisted" wasn't used, he said the request came with "a warning that strikes fear of God in you."
"I didn’t know who to talk to because, honestly, the person I would always talk to was Tyra," he said. In hopes to do just that, he agreed to return for Cycle 9. But when he showed up on set, he says Banks refused to talk to him, only communicating when the cameras were rolling.
"On camera, we learned to play and laugh, but it was clear I wasn’t allowed to speak with her outside of that," he said. "After that first day, I thought, there is absolutely no way I’m going to survive this. It felt like psychological torture. I felt broken." And yet, he continued on until Cycle 18, when he was unceremoniously fired.
Tyra Banks Fired Jay Manuel in 2012Manuel knew his role had changed on ANTM, going from the actual director and creative mind behind shoots to "just on-camera talent." In 2012, Banks said she received the call from the network head to ax Manuel, Alexander, and longtime photographer Nigel Barker.
"I'll never forget, he said... You have to let go of this, this, and this.' Three of my hearts: Mr. Jay, Miss J., and Nigel," she shared in the docuseries.
While the trio was hurt, they allegedly came to an agreement that they'd all announce the departures together in a joint press release. However, the news that they were fired was leaked before they had the chance.
"That show—the way we ran confidentiality, the conference calls—it was no leak to Page Six. Anyone can assume where that came from," said Manuel. "Once you put that out there, you can’t undo it, no matter what you say. That’s the double slap."
"Why wouldn’t you allow people who had been part of your show since its inception to move forward in their careers with grace?" he added, feeling that he was robbed of his "dignity" and saying it felt "very deliberate."
When given the chance to speak out in a joint interview with Alexander and Barker, he took the high road. "It felt like the culmination of our entire relationship and how I always viewed her. I always felt like I had to fix things, bridge the gap," he said. "That was just who I was... And that’s how I chose to leave it."
"When I wanted to leave, I wasn’t afforded that. And then I worked on the show from cycles 10 through 18. I made so many concessions," said Manuel. "That’s the part that’s the most hurtful."
What Happened to Jay Manuel After ANTM?Luckily, Manuel went on to have a great career after ANTM. He spent time as a personality with E! covering red carpet fashion at many major events, started his own Jay Manuel cosmetics company, and even wrote a book called The Wig, The B--ch, and The Meltdown.
"The book is really inspired by my life and the whole crazy world of reality TV and the entertainment industry," he said of the work. "Let’s just be clear—it’s a novel."
Are Tyra Banks and Jay Manuel Still Friends? So where do Banks and Manuel stand 14 years after Manuel was let go from the show? Banks' tense response on Reality Check says a lot.
“Ah, I’d prefer, uh—yeah, I should call Jay. I don’t want to do this here," said Banks when asked by producers to comment on what happened between her and Jay. "But he’s a special man.”
However, earlier in the docuseries, she did gush about his creative abilities and why she tapped him for ANTM in the first place.
"Jay was such a visionary, one of the most talented creatives I’ve ever worked with," she said.
For his part, even after being let go, Manuel said, "I still respected her as a model and a business mind." In 2020, he made it clear that he still feels the same way. "We may no longer speak every day, or see each other often, but this woman to my right taught me some of the biggest lessons life has to offer," he wrote alongside an Instagram photo with Banks. "Self-validation is the ONLY thing that allows you to conquer your #fears & achieve your #dreams."

1977 No. 1 Hit Ranked ‘Top Soft Rock Song’ Became the Ultimate Breakup Anthem
In 1977, Fleetwood Mac released their biggest hit with the song “Dreams.”
The song, written by Stevie Nicks and performed with bandmates Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and John and Christine McVie, went to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in June 1977 and remains the legendary band’s only U.S. No. 1 single nearly 50 years later.
"Dreams," which was the second single from the album Rumours, was also ranked the top soft rock song of all time in a list compiled by Ultimate Classic Rock. The Fleetwood Mac classic topped Kansas’ “Dust in the Wind,” Seals & Crofts’ “Summer Breeze,” Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band’s “Night Moves," and Peter Frampton’s “Baby, I Love Your Way” for top billing on the top 40 soft rock songs list.
UCR credited "Dreams” as the standout single from Rumours, noting that while it cemented the band’s enduring legacy, it also “helped make Nicks the group's breakaway star.”
‘Dreams’ was written in 10 minutesNicks penned “Dreams” in response to her real-life split from Buckingham, her boyfriend of several years. She wrote the song alone, in a room at the Record Plant studio in Sausalito, CA, during the Rumours sessions at a time when both she and Buckingham, and married couple John and Christine McVie, were going through difficult breakups.
“I sat down on the bed with my keyboard in front of me, found a drum pattern, switched my little cassette player on, and wrote ‘Dreams’ in about 10 minutes,” she once told Blender magazine, per Rolling Stone Australia.
Nicks went on to present the song to her estranged ex. “I remember the night I wrote ‘Dreams,’” she told The Daily Mail in 2009. ”I walked in and handed a cassette of the song to Lindsey. It was a rough take, just me singing solo and playing piano. Even though he was mad with me at the time, Lindsey played it and then looked up at me and smiled.”
”What was going on between us was sad,” she added. "We were couples who couldn’t make it through. But, as musicians, we still respected each other – and we got some brilliant songs out of it.”

Why Stevie went her own way“Dreams” played as a counter to Buckingham’s breakup song “Go Your Own Way," which was the first single released from Rumours.
Speaking with the New Yorker in 2022, Nicks said she could still “go right back to what pushed me towards writing those words.”
“I always laugh because Lindsey’s ‘Go Your Own Way’ and my ‘Dreams’ are like counter songs to each other," she shared. “I'm like ‘when the rain washes you clean, you'll know,’ and he's like, ‘packing up, shacking up, all you want to do.’”
“Both songs kind of mean the same thing,” she explained. “It's really about our breakup. He's looking at it from a very unpleasant, angry way, and I'm saying in my more airy-fairy way, ‘We're gonna be alright, we'll get through this.'"
Nicks also shared that her relationship with the song never changed. “I can sing ‘Dreams’, which was huge hit, and I’ve been singing it ever since it came out," she said.

Lindsey Buckingham explained why the breakup songs workedBuckingham once noted that the songs on Rumours worked because fans could resonate with the broken couples.
In an interview on AXS TV’s The Big Interview, he explained, “Stevie and I had been a couple for a long time. John and Christine McVie had been married. So you had these two couples by the time we got up to Sausalito to start recording Rumours, Stevie and I, although not quite as well defined, were estranged, we're not living together, were for all intents and purposes broken up.”
“Normally, when people break up, when there's pain involved like that, disappointment, heartache, people are allowed a requisite amount of distance and time in order to let the dust settle before they move on,” he said. “Well, we did not have that luxury. We were, you know, in very close quarters, never had the luxury to be apart. So therefore, never really had the luxury of closure."
“So Stevie was writing songs, basically dialogues to me, I was basically writing dialogues to her,” he explained. “Everyone knew that this was what was being written about. Everyone knew that these songs, the subject matter, was what we were living.”
Buckingham compared the songs on the iconic Fleetwood Mac album to a soap opera.
