There's certain trends that will never go out of style — like the maxi skirt, matching lounge sets, and, most relevantly, buckle sandals. Luckily Walmart's Summer Deals event is featuring a slew of footwear options at amazing prices, so you can stock up on cute and comfy shoes during the warmer months. We're currently adding the Ecetana Flat Sandals to our cart, while they're just over 42% off.

The sandals originally cost $26, but have been reduced to just $15 during an online only sale. The bestselling shoe is being sold in three colors: black, beige, and brown. Due to the fact that these colors will match with nearly anything, this sandal makes for the perfect everyday shoe. The sizes range from 5 to 10.5, with customers saying that they run true to size. One shopper with wide feet said they still have "plenty of room" for movement.

Shoppers described the shoe as "beautiful," "well-made," "very soft," "wonderful," and "supportive."

With so many picks under one roof, figuring out which frozen meals at Costco are actually worth taking home can be a challenge. To make the decision a little bit easier, our list below focuses on items that can either stand on their own as a satisfying meal or be upgraded with a simple addition like rice or vegetables. Follow along and let us know if we missed any of your Costco frozen favorites.

1. Authentic Motor City Pizza Co. Detroit-Style Deep Dish Pizza

Quite possibly the best pizza deal at Costco apart from buying a fresh pie from the food court, the Authentic Motor City Pizza Co. Detroit-Style Deep Dish Pizza rivals your local pizza joint with ease. It features a thick Detroit-style crust with crispy, caramelized edges, and it comes loaded with mozzarella cheese and a combination of sliced and diced pepperoni that stretches from edge to edge. You get two in a box, and it's perfect for sharing.

2. Kirkland Signature Italian Sausage and Beef Lasagna

Nathan Hutsenpiller

Sold as a two-pack of 3-pound trays, the Kirkland Signature Italian Sausage and Beef Lasagna is a reliable pick for both solo meals and big family dinners. It features layers of lasagna noodles, seasoned beef, Italian sausage, ricotta, mozzarella cheese and Romano cheese, all topped with a rich vine-ripened tomato sauce. Bake it in the oven and add a dusting of Parmesan and chopped parsley on top, and you've got the foundation for a hearty, restaurant-worthy meal.

3. Sukhi's Indian Chicken Tikka Masala

If you’re craving takeout, Sukhi's Indian Chicken Tikka Masala is a solid alternative to ordering out. Featuring tender white meat chicken in a rich, creamy tomato sauce, it's seasoned with traditional Indian spices and serves as a flavorful meal with hardly any preparation required. Pair it with white rice and a side of naan, and you've got yourself a tasty, no-fuss dinner.

4. Kirkland Signature Blackened Atlantic Salmon

Nathan Hutsenpiller

Of course, we can’t leave out the seafood lovers. The Kirkland Signature Blackened Atlantic Salmon is an easy way to put a restaurant-style spin on dinner, and it's one that elevates the table without much effort at all. The box comes with six frozen filets, each pre-seasoned with a smoky blackened coating and ready to cook until tender and flaky in a matter of minutes. It only needs a side of vegetables, salad or rice to round out the meal, making it a great option to stock up on for nights when cooking a full dinner just isn’t happening.

5. Kirkland Signature Crispy Wings With Classic Buffalo Sauce

Nathan Hutsenpiller

A personal favorite that never misses the mark, the Kirkland Signature Crispy Wings are a welcome upgrade from Costco’s vast frozen chicken selection. Designed to cook up quickly and resemble your favorite sports bar-style wings, each bag comes packed with multiple servings and packets of tangy, spicy Buffalo sauce to bring everything together.

6. Ajinomoto Yakitori Chicken With Fried Rice

A long-time fan-favorite among Costco shoppers, the Ajinomoto Yakitori Chicken With Fried Rice is a reliable pick for anyone looking for more takeout-style frozen dinner inspiration. It features tender chicken, mixed vegetables and seasoned rice tossed in a yakitori-inspired sauce, coming together in a quick meal that’s ready in minutes. Savory, filling and easy to buy in bulk, it’s no surprise this one has remained a go-to for shoppers over the years.

7. Ajinomoto Yakisoba With Vegetables

Naturally following its fried rice counterpart, Ajinomoto Yakisoba offers another freezer aisle take on classic Japanese street food. Even better, this tasty noodle dish cooks up in minutes for a quick, comforting meal. It features Japanese-style stir-fried noodles and an assortment of crisp vegetables tossed in a sweet and savory sauce. It's easily enjoyable on its own or rounded out with an added protein like chicken, shrimp or tofu.

8. Bibigo Beef Bulgogi Mandu

Nathan Hutsenpiller

Costco’s Bibigo Beef Bulgogi Mandu is an easy choice for those looking for quick meals that still feel restaurant-prepared. These extra-large, fully cooked Korean-style dumplings feature an ultra-thin wrapper and are packed with savory bulgogi beef and an assortment of vegetables, including cabbage, green onions and carrots. Fry them in a skillet, deep-fry them in oil or simply toss them in the air fryer, then serve with a side of your favorite dipping sauce.

9. Kirkland Signature Panko Shrimp

Nathan Hutsenpiller

Another popular pick that feels like it was pulled from a local seafood restaurant, Kirkland Signature Panko Shrimp is an easy option for quick dinners and party-style snacking alike. Sold in a 2.5-pound box, these tasty jumbo butterfly shrimp are coated in a panko breading and cook up in a matter of minutes. Enjoyable on their own with a side of dipping sauce, you can also elevate the meal with a squeeze of lemon, a simple side salad or a batch of fries for a more complete meal.

10. Kokoro Classic Egg Grilled Musubi

Nathan Hutsenpiller

Taking us back to Hawaii with a classic mealtime staple, Spam musubi is the perfect example of a snack that has full meal potential. Costco’s Kokoro Classic Egg Grilled Musubi elevates the experience with fluffy egg, rice and a meatless patty topped with a sweet and savory glaze. Designed as a lighter alternative to traditional Spam musubi, this snack heats up in the microwave in just 1 minute and 15 seconds, yet it still somehow produces results that look like they came straight from a local Hawaiian restaurant. Eat two in one sitting, and you’ll be full in no time.

Tips to Make Frozen Dishes Better

ZikG / Shutterstock.com

One of the easiest ways to upgrade frozen food is by avoiding the microwave whenever possible. While the appeal of many freezer finds is that they can be heated in minutes, taking a little extra time to use the oven, air fryer or stovetop often results in better texture, more even cooking and a finished product that feels much closer to a freshly prepared meal.

Another quick upgrade that makes a world of difference is incorporating a fresh ingredient or two before serving. While some frozen meals come complete with an entrée and sides, others can benefit from a simple finishing touch like freshly grated Parmesan cheese, sliced green onions, parsley or a squeeze of lemon over chicken or salmon. And for dishes that need a little extra help, an easy side like fried rice or a fresh salad can help better round out your meal.

As with any meal, a little preparation can go a long way. And while Costco’s frozen dishes are more than capable of standing on their own, they can also serve as a reliable foundation for something even better. With a little creativity, it's easy to elevate an already satisfying meal into something that feels restaurant-worthy, but if convenience is the priority, these picks are still more than capable of delivering a delicious meal with minimal effort.

How I Pack for a 7-Day Trip With a Single Shoulder Bag

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 5:10am

I like to pride myself on being an exceptional packer.

From my experience traveling the world on a Broadway tour with just one suitcase to living in small cruise ship cabins, I know how to make any situation work.

These days, I often travel around with just a carry-on, as long as the trip is under two weeks. Recently, however, I was presented with a new challenge: I was visiting a friend who worked as a performer on a cruise ship, and I would be staying in his extremely small crew cabin. He let me know that there is barely room to move around in the cabin, so he suggested that I pack as light as possible. I decided to pack with just a personal item that fits under the seat in front of me on the plane—and I'm happy to say that it was extremely successful.

Now, I know not many of you will be staying with cruise ship crew members as often as I do, but there are many other situations where packing with just a tote bag for a week-long trip could come in handy.

If you're traveling with an airline that charges extra for a carry-on, and you don't want to pay the extra fee, this could be your option. Hopping from hostel to hostel, and want to be able to keep your belongings with you at your bed? Pack with just your personal item. No matter your journey, I'm positive that just about anyone can make this packing challenge doable.

For the purpose of this article, let's pretend we're going on a weeklong trip to a warm city. We'll need cool and comfortable clothing, shoes to walk in, and accessories that'll make us look great in pictures. Let's get packing!

View this post on Instagram The Core Clothing Items

Melissa Cabey

When packing clothing in a small space, you want to choose the lightest and thinnest clothing options as possible. I packed two t-shirts and a tank top that fold up incredibly small. My bulkiest item was a short-sleeve button-up, which can be worn by itself or over the top of one of the other shirts. This took up a little bit more room than the thin tops, but it was still quite small. For the bottoms, I packed two pairs of shorts. Both were thin and easy to fold, one being a black linen pair and the other a short white khaki pair.

Now, the outfit that I chose to travel in also gets factored into my clothing for the trip. I decided on a pair of comfortable jeans, another thin tank top, and a sweatshirt. With the jeans and shirt included, I will have 15 total outfit combinations from the tops and bottoms that I brought. Plus, the sweatshirt can be thrown on top of any of the looks for added warmth or comfort.

Three Dresses

Melissa Cabey

Sundresses are always a must for me when packing. Most of the time, they are made of a linen blend or cotton, making them easy to fold and pack into a small space. Plus, sundresses are the perfect option for both daytime and nighttime. They can be worn while exploring a new city, visiting museums, or going out to lunch. Equally, they look great for a nice dinner out or an evening seeing live entertainment. By adding these three dresses to the mix, I now have 18 outfit options for my week-long trip.

Two Pairs Of Shoes

Keeping it realistic with shoes can be the hardest part of this packing challenge. As always, you need to wear your bulkiest pair of shoes as you travel to your destination. Usually, I wear a pair of white sneakers. However, in the interest of needing shoes that can cross off many different stylistic boxes, I decided to go with a comfortable pair of ballet flats instead. The flats that I chose are Vivaia, and they are very supportive and easy to walk around in. They can also look great in the evening with a dress or pair of jeans. Overall, they are a major win for both comfort and style.

Melissa Cabey

The second pair of shoes must be a pair that can easily fit into your shoulder bag. I chose a pair of thin flip flops. These are Crocs brand, and also feel very supportive and comfortable when walking long distances. They're also great for visits to the beach or pool, or even with an outfit in the evening.

Toiletries And Other Necessities

When it comes to toiletries, I keep it as simple as possible. I was able to fit a bottle of face and body wash, a razor, deodorant, sunscreen, toothpaste and face lotion. I opted out of packing shampoo and conditioner, because I know that the hotel I'll be staying at will have it. If that's not the case for you, it's still possible, but I'd recommend packing solid bars of the hair care products instead of liquid bottles.

Melissa Cabey

I've recently transitioned from using disposable toothbrushes to an electric one that is specifically great for travel. The brand is SuperMouth, and it comes with a special travel container that has a UV sanitizer, which helps to keep your teeth nice and healthy on your travels. The container is also small and compact, and fits into nearly any bag. The toothbrush itself lasts well over a month on a single charge, so you don't need to worry about packing any extra cables or chargers, either.

For my other necessities, I packed a small bag of makeup, a hair brush, a hair straightener, two silk scarves, and a baseball cap. In my small purse that I brought as well, I threw in my passport, wallet, phone charger, phone, and headphones. Finally, I topped the shoulder bag with a pair of pajamas and slid 8 pairs of underwear down into one of the side pockets. After all of that was packed, I still had a little bit of room on top—just in case I want to buy a souvenir.

Aldi's 2-Pack of Gorgeous Woven Baskets Corral Clutter In Such a Chic Way

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 5:05am

Unless you have achieved the ultimate level of minimalism, you need some kind of storage in your life. Whether that means decorative bins, lazy Susans or a full-on freestanding cabinet situation, if you want to achieve "a place for everything and everything in its place," it's going to involve an organization system of some kind.

Personally, I like storage that doubles as decor—the kind of thing that makes my clutter look both contained and cute. Because unless it's underbed storage or tucked away in a closet, storage is bound to be seen, so it may as well have some style.

Kirkton House Hanging Woven Baskets 2-Piece Set, $9.99 at Aldi

Aldi

Aldi is selling a two-pack of Kirkton House Hanging Woven Baskets that are not only pretty but also help clear clutter from counters and other surface areas. The set comes with a larger basket and a smaller one, both with flat backs so they can hang flush against the wall. Attached woven loops make them easy to hang on hooks.

These hangable baskets can work just as well in an entryway as they can in a kitchen, hallway, bathroom, bedroom or home office. Fill them with things you need easy access to, whether that's mail, papers, accessories, tea towels or whatever else fits.

Related: This Might Be the Most Underrated Piece of Tupperware in the Brand's 80-Year History, But Real Ones 'Love It'

Of course, if you want to use these baskets for decorative purposes only, that's an option, too. Try hanging one with a trailing faux plant spilling over the edge, tuck in a bundle of dried lavender or eucalyptus, or use it to display seasonal greenery throughout the year.

You can also group a few baskets of different sizes to create eye-catching wall art that's a little more unexpected than framed prints. Sometimes it's the texture and cozy feel they bring to a room that's the real decoration.

As usual, the Aldi Finds aisle is packed to the gills with cute but functional stuff. If you love adding pops of color to your kitchen, there's a three-piece cookware set in the prettiest purple and a patchwork-print comfort mat that makes standing on your feet feel a little lighter. You should also check out Aldi's take on the Icon glasses popularized by Anthropologie, which it has stocked in some really sweet summery bumblebee motifs.

'Property Brothers' Star Drew Scott Shares a Crucial Parenting Lesson After an Interaction With His Son

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 4:52am

Drew Scott is reflecting on a “heartbreaking” moment with his son.

The Property Brothers star took to Instagram to share what he learned from the experience as part of his “Blueprint for Life” series.

He opened the video by saying, “I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you run a mile a minute, which I tend to, I think you might relate to this story.”

Scott and his wife, LindaPhan, have two children together, their 2-year-old daughter Piper and 4-year-old son Parker

“I came home one day and I saw Parker, and I'm like, ‘Hey Parker, give me a hug.' And he sort of ran away,” Scott said. “And then he went and picked up one of his toys and held it to his ear. He actually started walking around and going, ‘I'm on a business call.'”

The 48-year-old TV personality was disappointed in the interaction.

“It was heartbreaking for me because he just saw me on calls all the time. So that was a wake-up for me to not be on my phone when I'm around the kids,” he explained. “To show them that I'm actually present, I'm listening to their questions, I'm answering, I'm playing with them.”

“It's a small thing but for me to be present there, I can see it in Piper's face, she gets excited. And for me, it's heartwarming and I love it," he said. "But if I was just to be in my busy, busy work pace, I would do calls over my lunch and I would skip that. Then all of a sudden I would look back years from now and think I missed these crucial points in my baby's life."

Scott shared that he is making an effort to have a better work-life balance.

“Establish what your priorities are,” he said. “Even if you don't have kids, maybe it's nice to spend a bit more time with your parents, maybe it's nice to spend some time with your siblings, or your best friends.”

Pop Superstar Makes Billboard History After Record-Breaking No. 1 Run

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 4:48am

Olivia Rodrigo has found herself in good company after achieving a rare Billboard chart record.

The pop superstar achieved the milestone after her latest album release, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.

Boardroom reports that she "joins Beyoncé in one of Billboard’s most exclusive clubs."

The chart-topping stars are now the only two artists in history whose "first three solo studio albums all debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, with each album also producing at least one No. 1 hit on the Hot 100."

According to Billboard, Rodrigo has now achieved the feat across three eras: Sour in 2021, which topped the Billboard 200 alongside Hot 100 No. 1 hits “Drivers License” and “Good 4 U”; Guts in 2023, paired with the chart-topping single “Vampire”; and most recently, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, alongside the No. 1 hit “Drop Dead.”

Beyoncé was previously the only artist to achieve the feat, first in 2003 with Dangerously in Love topping the Billboard 200 while “Crazy in Love” (feat. Jay-Z) and “Baby Boy” (feat. Sean Paul) ruled the Hot 100. She repeated the milestone with B’Day and “Irreplaceable” in 2006–2007, and again with I Am…Sasha Fierce and “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” in 2008–2009.

'you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love's' further success

While "you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love's" charts the same course as its predecessors, Sour and Guts, both of which debuted at No. 1, NPR reports that the streaming numbers for the latest album are almost 60% higher than the first two albums in the first week on the charts.

All 13 of the tracks from the album have also landed in the top 30 of this week's Billboard Hot 100. "Stupid Song" debuted at No. 3, with "drop dead" and "the cure" finding their way into the top 10, at 4 and 6, respectively. "Honeybee" also makes an entry at No. 9.

Rodrigo is no stranger to breaking records, as Paradepreviously reported that her latest album was also recognized by Spotify, which announced it became the most-streamed album in 2026 in a single day so far by a female artist, in addition to it landing the musician as the youngest female artist ever to hit number one on the Spotify Top Artists Chart.

Festival sells out almost instantly

Rodrigo burst onto the scene in Jan. 2021 and hasn't been stopped since. She continues riding a career high, as just days after her Daisy Chain Fields festival was announced, it sold out in 30 minutes.

The all-female festival, founded by the 23-year-old pop sensation, boasts a lineup that bridges a generation gap and emphasizes girl power, with Stevie Nicks, Sarah McLachlan, The Breeders, Mitski, KATSEYE, Chappell Roan, Garbage, Doechii, Bikini Kill, and more, all set to perform.

All net profits from the Great Park in Irvine, Cali. show will benefit organizations supporting women and girls.

The Reason Disney Is Ending a Popular Holiday Tradition After 27 Years

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 4:10am

If your family has a long-standing winter tradition of hopping on the monorail to smell the warm, spiced air inside the lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, you might want to brace yourself for a bittersweet change.

As part of a wave of holiday announcements, Disney officially confirmed a piece of news that has sent a jolt of nostalgia through the theme park community: the iconic, life-size Grand Floridiangingerbread house has been permanently retired and will not return for the upcoming season or any future years. For nearly three decades, the towering edible masterpiece—which historically required over 500 hours of baking and a literal half-ton of honey—served as the undisputed tentpole of Disney World’s resort-hotel Christmas displays.

While it's entirely natural to feel a little sad about the end of an era, it is important to look at this change through a practical lens. While Disney hasn't explicitly stated the reason for the retirement, park insiders at Disney Tourist Blog point to the resort's recent massive lobby refurbishments—including the addition of the new Perch Lobby Bar—which heavily restricted the physical space available for the massive structure

Related: Disney World Just Dropped Festive Hotel Deals—And They Might Be the Absolute Best Value of the Year

View this post on Instagram

The reality of the old way of doing it was that the sheer, exploding popularity of the gingerbread house created an absolute logistical bottleneck. The main building was routinely transformed into a madhouse of shoulder-to-shoulder foot traffic during the holidays.

By combining a giant Christmas tree, the resort's new layout, and the immense crowds of non-hotel guests flooding the property just to glimpse the house, the lobby's infrastructure was simply pushed to its absolute limit, often overwhelming the experience for families actually staying on property.

To solve this crowding issue without losing that signature festive charm, Disney is pivoting to a smarter, more spread-out strategy. In place of the massive, single structure, the Grand Floridian’s incredibly talented culinary team will be creating an entirely new collection of detailed miniature holiday displays scattered throughout the resort.

Related: The One Disney World Hotel Where You Can Still Get Mickey Waffles in Bed

BlogMickey.com reports that this specific adjustment is isolated entirely to the Grand Floridian, meaning you can still expect the traditional, classic gingerbread setups—like the magnificent working carousel at Disney’s Beach Club Resort or the Cinderella Castle display at the Contemporary—to return exactly as planned.

By transitioning to a decentralized model, the resort is ensuring that visitors can still get their annual dose of spectacular sugar artistry while finally giving the historic lobby the breathing room, comfort, and open space it needs to let families truly sit back and soak up the magic.

John Cena Says One Fear Shaped His Retirement Decision

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 3:30am

John Cena knew exactly how he wanted his WWE career to end. And it had nothing to do with championship belts.

Appearing on NPR's Wild Card with Rachel Martin, the 17-time world champion, 49, opened up about his decision to step away from in-ring competition, explaining that he never wanted fans' lasting memory of him to be a diminished version of the performer they had loved for decades.

"I started very early in my career, and I went on record to say, 'When I'm a step slower, I'm gonna step away,'" Cena said.

The longtime WWE superstar explained that watching other wrestlers stay in the ring too long shaped his own philosophy about retirement.

"I saw performers hit a certain age, and their performance just didn't match the rest of the show," he said. "And that's what people remember. They don't remember the moments you want them to. They'll remember you at the end when you were too slow for the show."

Rather than viewing retirement as a loss, Cena said he sees it as the natural conclusion to an extraordinary career.

"I knew getting into this it was gonna end," he said. "Instead of the void of 'it's not there anymore,' I look back on, like, 'I had 23 years of being a pro wrestler.' That's my vocation. I got to be a traveling carnival performer… and now I made that my career. How cool is that?"

Cena's perspective also extends to his acting career. Although he's become one of Hollywood's busiest action stars, he said he doesn't see acting as a replacement for wrestling. And he doesn't assume opportunities will always come.

"I'm just waiting for the phone to ring like everybody else," Cena said. "And one day it's not gonna ring, and I know that."

Elsewhere in the conversation, Cena reflected on a pivotal lesson he learned from former WWE chairman Vince McMahon. He recalled nearly damaging McMahon's, 80, trust after exploring a social media startup without first discussing it with WWE leadership.

Rather than reacting angrily, Cena said McMahon calmly walked him through the consequences of the decision.

"It took five minutes or less to realize, like, I'm such an idiot," Cena admitted. "I immediately called the company back and said, 'I'm out. This isn't for me.'"

Quote of the Day: Norman Vincent Peale on 'Empty Pockets,' 'Empty Heads,' and 'Empty Hearts'

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 2:43am

If you've ever heard someone touting the power of positive thinking, it's likely that they were a big fan of Norman Vincent Peale.

The American religious leader was a pioneer in the field of positive thinking, and he used his position in the church to spread his own gospel. Born May 31, 1898, in Ohio, Britannica says that Peale moved around the state a lot growing up, thanks to his father's job as a Methodist preacher. In 1920, Peale graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University and became a journalist before entering the ministry.

While he was initially ordained in the Methodist Episcopal Church, Peale later switched denominations to the Reformed Church in America, serving as pastor of the Marble Collegiate Church in New York City, where he famously served as a spiritual mentor to Donald Trump's family. He was credited with growing church membership from a few hundred to a few thousand thanks to his dynamic sermons.

Part of his success was due to his enlistment of a psychiatrist and his eventual establishment of a religio-psychiatric clinic. The clinic began as the American Foundation of Religion and Psychiatry, which later became the Blanton-Peale Institute and Counseling Center.

In 1935, he began a radio program called The Art of Living, which Britannica said eventually established a national audience. Then, in 1937, he wrote a spiritual leaflet called Guideposts. After that, he penned a book (which shared the name of his radio show). From there, he continued to publish books, including The Power of Positive Thinking.

Peale retired as a pastor in 1984, and he passed away on Dec. 24, 1993.

Quote of the Day by Norman Vincent Peale

"Empty pockets never held anyone back. Only empty heads and empty hearts can do that."

Peale is credited with saying the quote, thanks to his popular philosophy that includes the power of positive thinking.

Deeper Meaning of Norman Vincent Peale’s Quote—' Empty Pockets,' 'Empty Heads,' and 'Empty Hearts'

The quote is meant to teach readers that having "empty pockets" (another way of saying you don't have much money or financial resources) isn't enough to hold you back in life. Instead, the true detriment is actually your own outlook on life (empty heads) and your emotional fortitude (empty hearts).

Peale was trying to explain to readers how switching their mindset, thinking positively, and believing that things will work out can actually help them to get ahead in life.

  • "What the mind can conceive and believe, and the heart desire, you can achieve."

1976 Rock Classic, Inspired by One of the ‘Greatest Movies’ of All Time, Became a Timeless Road Trip Anthem

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 1:41am

One of punk rock's earliest classics owes its existence to one of cinema's greatest horror films.

When the Ramones released "Chain Saw" in 1976, the frantic two-minute burst of energy immediately showcased the band's love of pop culture, B-movies and horror films.

Inspired by The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, widely recognized as one of the greatest horror movies ever made and included on Sight and Sound's list of the best films of all time, the song became one of the standout tracks on the Ramones' landmark debut album.

The inspiration was impossible to miss.

Written by Joey Ramone, "Chain Saw" drew directly from the 1974 horror classic directed by Tobe Hooper. Rather than retelling the film's story in detail, the band captured its chaotic spirit through rapid-fire lyrics, pounding drums and buzzsaw guitars, creating a song that mirrored the relentless energy of the movie while fitting perfectly within the Ramones' stripped-down punk aesthetic.

"The speed is pure Johnny," Tommy Ramone said in a 2005 interview. "Johnny was a fastball pitcher. He associated everything with sports. And the speed was his virtuosity. He could play very fast on a guitar. So the actual speed of the songs came from Johnny. The brevity of songs – we were looking for short songs, because we wanted to bring back the original feel of rock 'n' roll, which by the '70s had disappeared."

Although never released as a single, "Chain Saw" became a fan favorite and an important part of the Ramones' early live shows. It also helped reinforce the band's reputation for blending catchy melodies with offbeat subjects, whether drawn from horror movies, comic books or everyday life.

The song arrived at a pivotal moment for the group.

Released on the Ramones' self-titled debut album, "Chain Saw" helped introduce a sound that would transform rock music. While the album achieved only modest commercial success at the time, it became one of the most influential records ever made, laying the groundwork for the global punk movement and inspiring generations of musicians.

"People who join a band like the Ramones don't come from stable backgrounds," Dee Dee Ramone once wrote. "Because it's not that civilized an art form. Punk rock comes from angry kids who feel like being creative."

Over the years, "Chain Saw" has remained a staple of Ramones compilations, documentaries and retrospective collections. Its breakneck tempo, unforgettable chant and cinematic inspiration have also made it a favorite for blasting on long drives, helping it earn a reputation among fans as one of the band's quintessential road trip songs.

Nearly 50 years after its release, "Chain Saw" continues to demonstrate how a great movie can inspire a great song. What began as the Ramones' tribute to a groundbreaking horror film ultimately became one of punk rock's enduring classics, proving that the shortest songs can sometimes leave the biggest impact.

Aussie World Cup Fan Goes Viral for Popeyes Review, Says Australia Is Missing Out

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 1:22am

One of the best things about the World Cup is how it brings people together. And while the U.S. has been hosting matches this season, fans from all over the world have traveled here to support their teams and experience everything our country has to offer.

As you might expect, one of the biggest attractions has been American food. From iconic fast food chains to gas station snacks, international visitors have wasted no time sharing their first impressions across social media. One fan in particular singled out Popeyes, sharing a glowing review that ended with one question for the restaurant: Why isn't it in Australia?

Australian Visitor Tries Popeyes for the First Time

The video opens with Aussie fan Nathan Ranclaud filming the exterior of a Popeyes restaurant, immediately calling it “the most incredible chicken you’ve ever seen.” As he describes his order, Ranclaud is struck by the value and presentation.

“So you get two pieces of crunchy fried chicken, a biscuit, chips and the most beautiful coleslaw I’ve ever had in my life,” he says while noting that the coleslaw has a slight spice with a hint of mustard.

What really captured Ranclaud’s attention, however, was the price. “And then all of that—I’m not making this up—is $6,” he says, zooming the camera in on a display showing the meal deal.

“How does this business even work? How is it even open?” Ranclaud asks. “And there’s a drink machine—of course unlimited refills—it’s like a touchscreen…” he says before interrupting himself. “There must be 50 different options!”

The video ends with Ranclaud addressing Popeyes directly: “Why is Popeyes chicken not in Australia? Popeyes, if you came here, you would own this country.”

Why Isn't Popeyes in Australia?

Over the years, Popeyes has mostly stayed out of Australia, due in part to the chicken market already being dominated by long-time favorites like KFC, Red Rooster and Oporto. And while that doesn’t mean the popular chicken chain wouldn’t thrive, the limited space makes expansion more difficult.

That said, Australia has not always been off the table. As far back as 2000, Popeyes announced plans to develop 35 restaurants across the country through a franchise agreement, marking one of the first attempts to enter the market. More recently, it was reported that parent company Restaurant Brands International is exploring the idea of expansion again, but there has yet to be an update since 2024.

Oh to be able to experience the joy of Popeyes for the first time again. As for Ranclaud’s new affinity for the chicken chain, we can only hope Popeyes catches wind of his video so he and his fellow Australians can truly experience what it means to “love that chicken from Popeyes.”

Stephen King's 'The Long Walk' Finds a New Streaming Home This Summer

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 1:00am

Movies continue to see renewed life in the streaming space long after their theatrical run is up — whether it was a well-received film or not.

Just look at The Running Man (2025), which bombed at the box office amid mixed reviews (despite the fact that the author of its source material, Stephen King, liked the end result). Nevertheless, it has triumphed on Paramount+ and may just continue to do so.

On that note, another recent adaptation of King's work is heading to a popular streaming platform sooner rather than later. Warner Bros. Discovery reports that The Long Walk will debut on HBO Max July 10.

Here's the film's logline offered on WBD's website: "From the highly anticipated adaptation of master storyteller Stephen King’s first-written novel, and Francis Lawrence, the visionary director of The Hunger Games franchise films (Catching Fire, Mockingjay – Pts. 1 & 2, and The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes), comes an intense, chilling and emotional thriller that challenges audiences to confront a haunting question: How far could you go?"

The dystopian thriller holds an impressive 88% average critics' rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Here's a more detailed synopsis offered by ComingSoon: "The Long Walk takes place in an alternate 20th century, where an authoritarian regime holds an annual endurance contest. In it, one hundred teenage boys are required to walk continuously at a minimum speed. If they slow down, they receive three warnings before a soldier executes them. The contest continues until only one contestant remains alive."

It's based on King’s 1979 novel of the same name, which he wrote under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. Since its release, several directors have expressed interest in adapting the novel. In a 2007 interview, Frank Darabont — who adapted several of King’s novels, such as The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile and The Mist — said he had acquired the rights to adapt the book. However, his version never materialized.

WNBA Star Angel Reese Makes Official Announcement on Her Signature Shoes

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 12:50am

WNBA star Angel Reese has officially announced the release of her latest signature basketball shoes, the Angel Reese 1: "Poison Angel," through an Instagram post that quickly caught the attention of basketball fans and sneaker enthusiasts.

The announcement marks the official launch of the newest colorway of her signature sneaker with Reebok. The release comes after weeks of anticipation, as Reese previously teased the vibrant design during one of her pregame tunnel walks.

The "Poison Angel" edition follows the successful debut of Reese's first signature basketball shoe and adds another chapter to her growing partnership with Reebok.

The Angel Reese 1 "Poison Angel" stands out with a striking neon-green color scheme inspired by Reese's viral Poison Ivy Halloween costume from 2024. The design combines comic book-inspired style with on-court performance.

In a press release, Reese explained the inspiration behind the release, per Hypebae.

"The Angel Reese 1 'Poison Angel' colorway is bold by design. It represents confidence, edge, and owning your space. This colorway is for anyone who plays fearlessly, stands out from the crowd, and isn't afraid to be seen."

The "Poison Angel" edition became available Thursday through Reebok's website and select retailers. Adult pairs retail for $140, while grade school sizing is priced at $110.

The sneaker launch comes during another successful stretch in Reese's basketball career. Just days before announcing the new shoe, Reese made WNBA history by becoming the fastest player to reach 1,000 career rebounds. According to The Athletic, the Atlanta Dream forward achieved the milestone in just 79 games, surpassing the previous record of 89 games.

Reese has become one of the league's top performers during her first season with the Atlanta Dream. She has continued to post strong numbers while helping the team compete near the top of the WNBA standings.

The release of the Angel Reese 1 "Poison Angel" adds another milestone to Reese's growing brand as she continues to build her profile both as one of the WNBA's leading players and as one of basketball's emerging signature athletes.

'80s Rock Band, Disbanded After Two Years, Ranked Among the 'Best Supergroups' of All Time

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 12:35am

GTR, the progressive rock band, earned a lasting place in rock history after being named among the greatest supergroups.

Bringing together members of highly influential bands is an ambitious feat, but only a few supergroups have made a mark on rock music.

From the blues hard rock band Cream to Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Temple of the Dog securing the top three spots, Louder Sound named GTR one of the 20 greatest rock supergroups of all time.

Described by the outlet as a "short-lived mid-80s supergroup," GTR was formed by Yes and Asia guitarist Steve Howe and fellow musician Steve Hackett, formerly of Genesis.

At the time, Howe had recently left Asia and wanted to create a group that would highlight guitars at the center of its music, hence the band name GTR, a common abbreviation for the instrument.

With a shared vision of creating a guitar-driven band, the two completed the lineup by recruiting Nightwing and Bronz vocalist Max Bacon alongside Toyah's Phil Spalding on bass and Jonathan Mover on drums.

It was in 1986 when they released their debut single, "When the Heart Rules the Mind," which became a huge hit after reaching No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100.

As for their first album, GTR introduced its self-titled debut studio album that same year.

"We were interested in lots of different kinds of music – everything from flamenco to country music – but I think we were trying to make an accessible, rather than impenetrable album," Hackett told Ultimate Classic Guitar, referring to their debut album. "and indeed, it gained a lot of young teenage listeners, right across the board. So we were very lucky to pick that up, considering that we had both come out of very male-orientated listening camps. The people that were into Genesis, at least during the time when I was part of the band in the ‘70s, were mainly male, and I think the same thing [was true] for Yes. It proved that it was possible to cross over and change people’s ideas of what the guitar could do.”

The iconic guitarist revealed that the band spent about two years working on the album, with much of that time spent writing songs and finalizing the lineup, while recording took another nine months.

The album was a commercial success, achieving high sales, and the band even embarked on a U.S. tour with Matt Clifford on keyboards throughout the run.

Two years after forming the supergroup, GTR officially disbanded due to internal issues and Hackett's sudden exit.

In the same report by UCR, Hackett said he knew that the band would never be a "long-term project" for him.

"I realized that it had novelty value. People were going to go out and buy the first album because they wanted to hear what the combination of Genesis and Yes and Asia might sound like. So it was a coming together of separate careers and backgrounds. You know, beyond that, I thought, ‘Everyone’s going to be interested in the first record, but I don’t think anyone’s going to be interested in the second record.’ We had one successful single and the second single flopped and the writing was on the wall.”

On the other hand, Howe believed that the disbandment of GTR was not because of one major conflict but because he and Hackett had "different perspectives," as the latter preferred a more independent approach while Howe favored teamwork.

“However, I don’t blame him for what happened,” Howe added. “If anything, I was more to blame. Maybe I should have done more to accommodate Steve.”

Country Star Announces New Song Ahead of Final Show

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 12:09am

Country music legend Alan Jackson has released a new song just two days before what is billed as the final full-length concert of his career.

On Thursday, the Country Music Hall of Famer unveiled his version of "Still The One," a cover of the 1976 Orleans hit, as a tribute to his wife, Denise, ahead of his farewell performance at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

Jackson shared the personal story behind the recording in a video announcing the release, revealing that the song has been tied to one of the earliest memories of their relationship.

“Fifty years ago in 1976, in Newnan, Georgia, I started dating this young girl. She was a cheerleader for Newnan High School,” Jackson said.

“One day, she went over to a friend’s house, a girlfriend’s house, and I went over there and hung out a while, and she was practicing her dance routine for the cheerleeding squad and the football game to a hit song that was a hit that summer called ‘Still The One,’ I think by a group called Orleans.”

Jackson continued by explaining why he chose to record the song now.

View this post on Instagram

“I sat there and watched her, and three years later, I ended up marrying that young girl. She’s my wife today Denise. So in honor of 50 years ago, this has always been one of our old fond memories of our starting out days. Any time we hear that song, it brings back these memories. So in honor of the 50 years, I went into the studio and recorded that little pop song with some country seasoning, and I gave it to her for her birthday, ’cause she’s still the one.”

The release comes as Jackson prepares to close out a career that has lasted more than four decades. His farewell concert, titled Last Call: One More for the Road — The Finale, is scheduled for Saturday at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

Alan Jackson's Final Concert

The timing of "Still The One" gives added meaning to Jackson's final performance. While the new release celebrates his relationship with Denise, it also arrives as he prepares to take the stage for the last full-length concert of his touring career.

Jackson first revealed in 2021 that he had been living with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), a degenerative nerve disorder that affects coordination and balance. Although the condition is not life-threatening, it has made performing increasingly difficult and led to his decision to retire from touring.

His farewell show is expected to feature appearances by several country music stars, including Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Cody Johnson, Riley Green, Jon Pardi and Lee Ann Womack. The concert will later air on NBC and stream on Peacock, with a premiere date to be announced.

Jackson has previously said that retiring from touring does not mean he is retiring from music.

In a 2023 interview, he expressed hope that he would continue writing and recording songs, saying the creative process still inspires him.

Originally released by Orleans in 1976, "Still The One" reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song became part of Alan and Denise Jackson's story long before they married on Dec. 15, 1979.

The couple has now spent more than four decades together and raised three daughters: Mattie, Ali and Dani. Their relationship has also inspired several of Jackson's best-known songs, including "Remember When" and "I'd Love You All Over Again."

Although Jackson is widely recognized for writing many of his own hits, he has also found success recording cover songs throughout his career. His versions of "Mercury Blues," "Summertime Blues" and "Pop a Top" all became major country hits.

As Jackson prepares to perform one final full-length show, "Still The One" serves as both a tribute to the woman who has stood beside him since the beginning and a reminder that his creative journey may not be over.
