Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones share more than a marriage, a life together, and their two children. The Hollywood power couple also share the same birthday—September 25.

Even though the pair was born on the same date, their birth “days” are 25 years apart. Douglas was born on September 25, 1944, while his bride’s was two-and-a-half decades later, on September 25, 1969. 

Despite the age gap, the duo is still going strong. The Wall Street actor recently shared a promo on Instagram for his upcoming memoir, ‘One Helluva Ride’, featuring the caption, “Everyone said it wouldn’t last, but here we are 26 years later,” and interview clips that detail, “The story of how I met my beautiful wife.”

So how did the birthday-sharing pair’s romance begin? Douglas revealed, “I said to her after about half an hour, ‘You know, I’m going to be the father of your children.’” And that’s exactly what happened! The couple has two children together: Dylan Michael Douglas (born in 2000) and Carys Zeta Douglas (born in 2003). 

On the couple’s joint birthday, Douglas shared a sweet excerpt from his new book on social media: “I had never fallen in love on a movie screen before. Until I saw Catherine. She was magic, in a way that went beyond beauty. And I was certain, as much as I had ever been about anything, that she was the one.”

He continued, “It’s the kind of moment that only comes around once in your life, if you’re lucky.” 

Of course, he also added a message to his wife on their special day: “Happy Birthday Catherine! I love you always and forever!” Zeta-Jones quickly replied, “Thank you darling. Thank you. Happy Birthday to you too my love.” 

The Wednesday star also wished her husband of 26 years a happy 82nd birthday on her own Instagram page early Friday morning. Along with a precious pic of the pair cuddling in the crystal blue sea, Zeta-Jones wrote, “Happy Birthday darling! A birthday kiss to my husband Michael, sharing this special day with you is as special as the day itself. Love you.”

As it turns out, Douglas and Zeta-Jones aren’t the only ones in the family with September birthdays. The actress shared a birthday wish to her dad on September 17, writing (on Instagram), “Happy Happy 80th Birthday Dad! I love you with all my heart. I am the luckiest girl in the world to have a father like you.” 

Randy Rainbow is back with another gloriously campy Donald Trump takedown, and fans are already declaring his latest parody “perfection.”

After about six months, Rainbow returns with a new video and wastes no time getting to the jokes. “Dummy With the Wig on Top” opens with Rainbow’s signature pink-rimmed glasses as he appears to interview Trump through cleverly edited footage of the president before breaking into a twangy Oklahoma!-inspired number.

From there, Rainbow takes aim at Trump’s hair, appearance, speech, and leadership, working in digs about his “scrambled brains,” “slurred incoherence,” and the wars he’s “a-startin’.”

The hilarious video is clearly giving fans something to smile about. One viewer wrote on X, “I’m always amazed at how you pick the perfect songs to use for your parodies. It’s not like this is a new song or anything. It was old when my old geezer self did this play in high school! 😄 You are so talented, now I must go send the link to my fam, as usual.”

Amid the endless, grinding news cycle of negativity, Rainbow’s videos have become a bright spot for many of his fans. “Where the hell have you been? We need you to keep our heads above water,” another person wrote in the X thread, while someone else added, “Oh, how I’ve missed you!”

Several fans said they had already watched the video multiple times, with one commenter writing, “You’ve outdone yourself! I will applaud this for days!” Another person simply wrote, “Perfection!!” Some people claimed that this video is one of his best. “Yet another instant classic! Thank you, Randy Rainbow,” a commenter wrote.

The affected product is Lior Cinnamon Ground Seasoning, packaged in a 90-gram transparent plastic container. The UPC is 794711005484, but the most important number to check is the lot code: GAP11304. It can be found on the side of the container underneath the ingredient information.

The recalled product was distributed to retail stores, grocery stores, delis, and supermarkets across six states: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, Florida, and Illinois. Distribution occurred between November 18, 2025 and September 7, 2026.

While short-term exposure to very low levels of lead may not cause noticeable symptoms, lead can affect nearly every bodily system. The potential effects depend on factors including the amount and duration of exposure as well as a person’s age and body weight. Children can be particularly vulnerable to the effects of prolonged lead exposure, which can cause serious developmental and neurological problems.

No illnesses have been reported to date. Consumers are urged not to use the product and to either discard it or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

In 2008, Bryan Cranston traded the lovable, frazzled dad he played on Malcolm in the Middle for one of television’s most unforgettable characters: chemistry teacher-turned-drug kingpin Walter White.

Now, more than a decade after Walter’s story came to an end, Breaking Bad has landed another major honor.

The New York Times named Breaking Bad the No. 1 best TV show of the 21st century, placing the AMC drama ahead of some of the most acclaimed series of the past 25 years.

The Wire finished at No. 2, followed by Mad Men at No. 3, Succession at No. 4 and Fleabag at No. 5. Game of Thrones, Veep, 30 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Atlanta rounded out the Top 10.

Created by Vince Gilligan, Breaking Bad premiered on AMC on Jan. 20, 2008. Cranston starred as Walter White, an Albuquerque, N.M., high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with stage-three lung cancer and turns to manufacturing methamphetamine in hopes of leaving his family financially secure.

He teams up with his former student Jesse Pinkman, played by Aaron Paul, setting off a transformation that eventually turns Walter into the feared drug lord known as Heisenberg.

The NY Times praised the drama not only for the technical ingenuity that powered its plots, but for the moral questions at the heart of Walter’s transformation. Critic James Poniewozik described the series as a “humanistic moral investigation” into Walter’s descent and concluded, “Above all, there was art.”

Breaking Bad ran for five seasons and 62 episodes before concluding on Sept. 29, 2013. The series won 16 Primetime Emmy Awards during its run, including four Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series wins for Cranston and three Supporting Actor victories for Paul.

Its reputation has only grown since the finale. Breaking Bad has repeatedly appeared near the top of retrospective rankings of television’s greatest series, including lists from Rolling Stone, the BBC, Variety and Rotten Tomatoes.

And Gilligan’s Albuquerque universe scored another spot on the NY Times’ new list.

Better Call Saul, the Breaking Bad prequel starring Bob Odenkirk as Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman, came in at No. 27. The NY Times noted that the series famously never won an Emmy despite its many nominations, but argued that knowing where Jimmy’s story would ultimately lead made his attempts to choose a different path all the more heartbreaking.

The spinoff debuted in 2015 and ran for six seasons before concluding in 2022.

The Breaking Bad universe also expanded to film with 2019’s El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, which followed Jesse Pinkman after the events of the original series.

But more than 13 years after Breaking Bad aired its final episode, Walter White is back on top of the television world.

Seth Meyers had the perfect response after Florida gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds scrubbed prominent references to Donald Trump from his campaign website: “Daddy’s gone!”

During Thursday’s Late Night “A Closer Look,” Meyers zeroed in on Donalds’ suddenly less Trump-heavy campaign website after the president’s endorsement and other references to Trump had previously been prominently featured.

The comedian connected the move to a clip of Donalds enthusiastically declaring “Daddy’s back” when Trump returned to office, then imagined what happened now that those Trump references had largely disappeared. Donalds has said the changes were part of a planned website overhaul focused on Florida issues while maintaining that he supports Trump’s agenda.

“Republicans are freaking out because of how awful Trump’s poll numbers are,” Meyers said. “In fact, they’re so bad, even Trump’s closest allies are scrambling to get away from him. Like Congressman Byron Donalds, who’s now running for governor in Florida. Donalds has been such a close ally of Trump that when Trump returned to office last year, Donalds said this…”

Cue the tape of Donalds telling Fox News that Americans would thank Trump for deportations and “peace starting to, like, break out again around the world,” adding, “They’re gonna be like, ‘This is the stability that we were asking for.’ Daddy’s back.”

As the audience laughed, Meyers responded, “What’s weirder? What’s weirder? A furry dressing up or a grown man saying about the president, ‘Daddy’s back.’ You shouldn’t even say those words about your actual daddy.”

He continued, “The only time it’s appropriate to say the words ‘Daddy’s back’ is if you’re the announcer at a male strip club. ‘Ladies, it’s time for our next dancer!’”

Meyers then turned to the Florida governor’s race, noting that Donalds had previously featured Trump prominently on his campaign website but had since removed several references to the president.

“Oh, no! Daddy’s gone!” Meyers exclaimed.

He continued the joke, imagining Trump as an absent father: “Daddy went out for a pack of cigarettes. Mommy’s got a new boyfriend named Keith. He’s your daddy now.”

“Republicans are so desperate to distance themselves from Trump, they’re deleting his pictures from their websites,” Meyers added.

Meyers then mocked the idea that Republicans could simply remove Trump from their campaign websites after spending years closely associating themselves with him.

“Like that’ll f—king work,” Meyers said. “I’m sorry to say, you can’t get away from Trump, no matter how hard you try. He’s always gonna make himself the center of attention.”

Before the big-budget Stephen King adaptations, a 1990s miniseries quietly brought one of his sprawling stories to life on the small screen. 

A few years after the 1990 IT miniseries, starring the late Tim Curry as Pennywise, which paved the way for the eventual highest-grossing Halloween movie, another series captivated and haunted audiences. 

Released in 1994, The Stand remains one of the most ambitious—and memorable—TV adaptations of a King novel.

Based on his best-selling post-apocalyptic book published in 1978, the TV event was a massive undertaking, with a $28 million budget to bring to life his longest book, which clocks in at 1,152 pages.

It tells the story of a deadly virus that wipes out most of the population, with the survivors rebuilding in a world divided by good and evil.

The four-part miniseries, featuring an ensemble cast and a lengthy runtime that allowed the story to unfold in full, is ranked among “Best Stephen King TV Shows” by TVLine, coming in at No. 4 on the list.

“The miniseries managed to capture the essence of the novel without losing its emotional core, a result of King writing the teleplay himself,” the outlet wrote. 

In fact, CBR even called it the “best Stephen King Show in history,” even 32 years after its release.

Among the standout cast members was a young Molly Ringwald, who took on the role of Frannie Goldsmith—one of the story’s central figures navigating love, survival and uncertainty in a collapsing world. Jamey Sheridan starred as Randall Flagg, Gary Sinise as Stu Redman, Rob Lowe as Nick Andross, Ruby Dee as Mother Abagail and Laura San Giacomo as Nadine Cross.

There were also many memorable cameos, like Ed Harris, Jeff Goldblum, Kathy Bates and even King himself. 

Boasting a 64% Rotten Tomatoes rating, fans praise it for staying closer to the book’s structure and source material, along with a stellar cast, though many criticize that the special effects and style appear very dated in the present day.

CBR, however, found that to be a strength too, writing, “Perhaps what it’s most notable for aside from its great acting and character exploration, is its incredible special effects. Creating a worldwide plague for TV isn’t easy, especially in a time when digital special effects were used sparingly and were mostly unrealistic.”

The series attracted strong ratings throughout the four-night premiere, drawing millions for its broadcast run, earning mostly positive reviews, and six Primetime Emmy Award nominations, with wins in Outstanding Makeup for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Limited Series or a special.

Another remake came years later, in 2020, but the ‘90s version is widely regarded by fans and critics as the definitive and superior one. 

Decades later, the miniseries serves as a reminder of what made King’s stories so compelling in the first place—and why they continue to resonate across generations.

In the 1970s, Alice Cooper was known for his hard rock persona, with songs such as “I’m Eighteen,” “School’s Out,” and “No More Mr. Nice Guy.” But by the mid-1970s, the glam rocker released a string of ballads that showed his softer side—and some fans weren’t sure what to make of it.

One of the songs, “I Never Cry,” was ranked by Loudwire as one of the songs that defined 1976. Noting that the singer co-wrote the song about his “obsession with alcohol,” the outlet revealed that Cooper eventually entered rehab a year later.

Written by Cooper and Dick Wagner for the album Alice Cooper Goes to Hell, “I Never Cry” is an acoustic ballad with heartbreaking lyrics about loneliness. “Take away my eyes,” Cooper sings. “Sometimes I’d rather be blind/Break a heart, break a heart of stone/Open it up but don’t you leave it alone.”

Wagner told Legendary Rock Interviews that it was written in Hawaii during a month-long working vacation.

“It was a nice place to write every night on the veranda on the bay with the moonlight over the bay in Maui,” he shared. “It was an idyllic place to be to begin with, and ‘I Never Cry’ was one of the first things that we wrote when we got to Hawaii. I remember having a little keyboard out there and just coming up with that little music and that feel of the song, and then Alice came out and started working on the lyrics.”

“I Never Cry” climbed to No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1977, but it received a mixed response from the singer’s hardcore fans who felt he’d gone soft.

In an interview with New York’s Q104.3, Cooper explained that he did what he had to do during that era.

“There was that time in rock history when the disco plague happened,” he recalled, per iHeart. “All of the sudden, radio stations would only play disco. …They didn’t want any rock and roll on the air, but they would play ballads.  So I had four ballad hits in a row. And everybody thought that I’d become like the Frank Sinatra of rock and roll, whereas the rest of the [songs on the] albums were all hard rock. They just wouldn’t play it.”

Cooper also explained why he penned ballads with heartbreaking lyrics.

“I had ‘Only Women Bleed.’ I had ‘You And Me.’ I had ‘I Never Cry’ and ‘How You Gonna See Me Now.’ They were all Top 20 hits,” he told Boomerocity in 2019. “And all Alice Cooper songs that were being played were ballads. It was a weird time.”

The rocker told his music producer, Bob Ezrin, that he wanted at least one song on his album that would make people say, “What?”

“It’s more shocking,” he explained. “It’s easy to write a shock rock song. It’s even better when you write a song that is so pretty that it’s shocking…. When you work with Ezrin, he said, ‘If you’re gonna make a ballad, make it a heartbreaker.’”

The ballad formula worked for Cooper, and it enabled him to get airplay at a time when disco was ruling radio.

“I wrote those songs to show that Alice could write. It was a personal challenge,” he told Music Express in 1977. “That whole idea of coming up with these types of songs was a challenge. We were getting more commercial airplay because they were ballads.”

Fifty years later, “I Never Cry” remains one of Cooper’s most personal songs, a classic that proved his talent for songwriting was just as powerful as his stage presence.

Imagine packing sweaters and jackets for a fall foliage cruise through New England and Canada, only to find out you’re actually heading to Florida and the Bahamas.

That’s exactly what happened to passengers booked on an upcoming Royal Caribbean sailing.

Royal Caribbean has completely overhauled the itinerary for Vision of the Seas’ nine-night cruise from Baltimore, swapping Boston, Maine and Canada for Florida and the Bahamas as adverse weather impacts the Northeast. The cruise line also delayed the ship’s departure by a day.

The sailing was originally scheduled to depart Baltimore on Thursday, Sept. 24, for a nine-night Canada and New England itinerary aboard Vision of the Seas. According to Royal Caribbean’s published itinerary, the ship was slated to visit Boston; Portland, Maine; Saint John, New Brunswick; and Halifax, Nova Scotia, before returning to Baltimore on Oct. 3.

Now, passengers are getting a very different vacation.

Instead of heading north, Vision of the Seas will sail south to Port Canaveral, Florida; Nassau, Bahamas; and Grand Bahama Island. The ship remained docked overnight in Baltimore and is expected to depart at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25.

The cruise line cited developing weather systems along the ship’s original route.

“We’ve been closely monitoring the development of several weather systems along the path of our originally planned itinerary,” Royal Caribbean told passengers in a notification obtained by Cruise Hive.

The cruise line said unfavorable weather and high winds forced it to change course in order to provide a safe and comfortable experience. After considering its options, Royal Caribbean decided to replace the Canada and New England itinerary entirely with a Caribbean itinerary.

It’s a particularly dramatic change given just how different the two vacations are. Passengers expecting crisp fall temperatures, historic New England ports and Canadian scenery will instead be headed more than 1,400 miles southwest toward palm trees and beaches.

Vision of the Seas is now scheduled to call at Port Canaveral on Sept. 28, Nassau on Sept. 29 and Grand Bahama Island on Sept. 30, with sea days filling out the nine-night voyage. The ship is still expected to return to Baltimore at 7 a.m. on Oct. 3.

Guests who booked Royal Caribbean shore excursions for the canceled Canada and New England ports won’t have to worry about canceling them individually. According to the notice sent to passengers, prepaid excursions booked through the cruise line are being automatically canceled and refunded as onboard credit.

While having an entire itinerary switched at the last minute may be disappointing for travelers who specifically booked the cruise to experience New England and Canada in the fall, weather-related itinerary changes aren’t unusual in cruising. Royal Caribbean notes in its own itinerary information that ports of call can change because of weather, safety or operational considerations.

And in this case, passengers may want to unpack those sweaters and make room for a swimsuit.

Ben Affleck wanted his new movie to feel real, so he skipped the actors and ran an actual campaign on unsuspecting strangers instead.

The Oscar winner sat down with Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote Animals, his new Netflix thriller premiering October 9. In the film, Affleck plays Mark Kimball, a Los Angeles mayoral candidate whose life unravels after his son is kidnapped. The movie opens with campaign trail footage of Kimball meeting voters, and Affleck told Kimmel he decided against staging it with paid extras.

“I had this idea because I’m supposed to be a candidate,” Affleck said. “Why don’t I just take Stephen, who’s supposed to be playing my campaign manager, somebody with some merch, some shirts, and we’ll just go to the Grove and go around, and I’m just going to say I’m running for mayor.” He used a different name for the bit than his character’s, but otherwise ran it as a genuine, unscripted pitch to real shoppers at the outdoor Los Angeles mall.

What happened next surprised even him. “I swear on my life, not one person said to me, ‘What are you talking about, you’re Ben Affleck, you’re not,'” he told Kimmel. Shoppers took the campaign shirts, listened to his pitch and asked what he planned to change about Los Angeles. Several posed for selfies and posted them online urging people to vote for his character. “That taught me I don’t want to run for mayor of Los Angeles,” Affleck joked, saying he was out there for a full day in character.

The role almost went to someone else entirely. Affleck said the part was originally written for Matt Damon, with Jennifer Garner, his ex-wife, attached to play the candidate’s spouse before the project changed shape and Kerry Washington was cast opposite him. “I thought this would be a really” different kind of role for Damon and Garner, he explained, but a similarly themed film in development pushed him to rework the story and direct it himself. Garner, he said, ultimately passed on playing his wife on screen. “She’s very wise in many ways,” Affleck added.

Affleck also caught heat for a viral moment unrelated to the movie. After correctly answering a question about McDonald’s menu items on a recent episode of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, headlines framed it as Affleck “admitting” to eating fast food. “I’m baffled,” he told Kimmel, recalling paparazzi also photographing him at a Wendy’s drive-through after a previous show taping. He won $1 million on the game show for the Eastern Congo Initiative, the charity he co-founded, telling Kimmel the funds went toward efforts including preventing the spread of Ebola.

Parenting also came up with Kimmel. Affleck said his three teenagers, who he shares with Garner, now trade eye-rolling glances when he tries to dole out relationship advice at dinner. During a bookstore trip, one of his kids pointed to a title, “I’m Sorry for Everything,” and deadpanned that it was his autobiography. “I was kind of proud of them, though,” he said.

Affleck closed the appearance by taping a mock audition for a fictional Boston Logan Airport announcer job, leaning into an exaggerated regional accent at Kimmel’s request. Animals arrives in select theaters and on Netflix October 9.

The session was booked. Elvis Presley was going to record “I Will Always Love You,” and Dolly Parton had already said yes. Then the night before, Colonel Tom Parker called. He told her that Elvis wouldn’t record anything without receiving at least half the publishing rights. “This is the most important copyright in my whole publishing company, and I can’t do that,” Dolly told him. Parker said that was the rule. Dolly said, “Well, it’s not my rule.” The session was over. She cried all night. Elvis never recorded it.

Here’s what the song was. In 1973, Dolly wrote two of the most enduring songs in American music within just days of each other. “Jolene” was first. Then came “I Will Always Love You.” Both ended up on the same cassette tape. She later admitted that she wasn’t even sure if they were written on the same night or a few days apart. Either way, nobody’s ever had a week like that.

“I Will Always Love You” was her farewell to Porter Wagoner — the mentor and television partner who’d given her career its biggest break. She was going solo, and she didn’t want to leave with anger. So she wrote him a song that said thank you and goodbye at the same time. It hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart in 1974. Elvis heard it and wanted it immediately. He had it all worked up and ready to go. Then, Parker called.

When Parker demanded half the publishing, Dolly already knew exactly what she had. “That was my most important copyright at the time,” she said. “If it had been a new song, I might have considered it.” She said no. The session was canceled. “I cried all night long cause I was so disappointed,” she said later. “It wasn’t Elvis. I loved Elvis. And I’m sure he was as disappointed as I was because he had it all worked up and ready to go. I know he loved the song.” She always believed he would’ve killed it. He just never got the chance.

Here’s what Priscilla Presley told Parton years later. On October 9, 1973, Elvis and Priscilla walked down the courthouse steps in Santa Monica after finalizing their divorce. They left arm in arm. They shared a kiss. And as they walked away from their marriage, Elvis sang “I Will Always Love You” to Priscilla. “She said to me, ‘You know, Elvis sang that song to me when we walked down the courthouse steps when we got divorced. He was singing to me, ‘I Will Always Love You.'” A song written as a farewell to someone you love. Sung as a farewell to a marriage. By the man who was never allowed to record it. “That really touched me,” Dolly said. “I thought, oh well. It wasn’t his fault.”

In 1992, Kevin Costner was making The Bodyguard with Whitney Houston. He played her Linda Ronstadt‘s version of “I Will Always Love You” and told her this was the song. When Dolly heard Whitney was using Ronstadt’s recording as the template, she called producer David Foster. “I said, ‘Now, David, make sure that they do the last verse because Linda Ronstadt had recorded it and left that whole verse out. Make sure that if you record this song that you put that verse in.'”

The version you know from The Bodyguard is more complete than Ronstadt’s because Dolly made a simple phone call. Dolly heard Whitney’s version for the first time while driving through Brentwood near her Nashville home. “I thought, ‘That sounds familiar,’ and it didn’t hit me. And then when she started singing ‘I Will Always Love You,’ I just about wrecked the car.” Whitney’s version spent 14 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was the best-selling single by a female artist in history. Dolly said the royalties made her “enough money to buy Graceland.” The royalties from the song Elvis was never allowed to record were enough to buy his home. That’s what Colonel Tom Parker cost his client with one phone call.

In 2023, Dolly released “I Dreamed About Elvis” on her Rockstar album — a song she’d written 20 years earlier about the cover that never happened. She once said if she could have one last conversation with Elvis, it would be about this song. “I bet you were as disappointed as I was,” she said, “and I still dream about you singing that song.” So she wrote one where he did. One month ago today, Dolly Parton left us. The dream she put on record is still there.

For generations of moviegoers, Luke Skywalker staring out at twin suns over Tatooine was a seminal moment in their cinematic experience. The actor who gave that farm boy his earnest heart turns 75 on Friday, September 25, at the end of a week that touched nearly every chapter of his career.

Mark Hamill was 25 when Star Wars opened on May 25, 1977, and he had never starred in a feature film. During his screen test opposite Harrison Ford, he was given only a few pages and could not tell whether George Lucas meant the dialogue to be played straight. He told Ford as much, and Ford’s advice was to just get it done. Looking back on his age, Hamill laughed, “That’s older than I ever expected to be!”

Carrie Fisher helped him make peace with the role that defined him. When she asked why he downplayed Star Wars in favor of his theater credits, she told him, “Hey, get over yourself. You’re Luke Skywalker. I’m Princess Leia. Embrace it.”

He built a second legacy anyway. In the 1980s he starred on Broadway in The Elephant Man and Amadeus, and in 1992 he began voicing the Joker on Batman: The Animated Series. That performance earned him two Annie Award nominations and a BAFTA Games Award, and it introduced his voice to viewers who had never seen him hold a lightsaber.

The past several days brought those worlds together. On September 19, Hamill and his wife, Marilou York, attended opening night of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles, and he returned for its public opening on September 22. Sharing photos with Lucas on Instagram, he called the museum “an instant Los Angeles LANDMARK” and signed off, “Thanks (again), George!!!”

That same week, Disney+ greenlit a new Darkwing Duck series with Hamill voicing the title hero, Drake Mallard. Seth Rogen voices sidekick Launchpad McQuack, and Lizzy Caplan plays Gosalyn Mallard. The original cartoon ran for 91 episodes after its 1991 debut, and the new series picks up with the caped mallard stranded for 35 years in a world that has never heard of him.

Hamill has said he is finished playing Luke, saying that the franchise should focus on its newer characters. The work has kept coming regardless. His turn as the menacing Major in Stephen King‘s The Long Walk reached No. 1 on HBO Max within a day of its July streaming debut.

Nearly five decades after A New Hope, his career now spans a galaxy far, far away, Gotham City, Broadway and St. Canard. In December, he and York will mark 48 years of marriage, a partnership that began in 1978, the year after Star Wars made him a household name.

Asia, the legendary prog-rock supergroup, surprised fans with the release of their new music, “Arcadia,” ahead of their upcoming album.

Marking a monumental milestone for the band, the current lineup features Virgil Donati, John Mitchell, Harry Whitley and Geoff Downes, the founding member and sole remaining member of the original lineup.

The group has proudly introduced the third single from their comeback album, Indigo.

Featuring Whitley’s distinctive vocals, “Arcadia” delivers a melodic progressive rock anthem that combines Asia’s signature 1980s sound with a fresh and modern energy.

“NEW MUSIC FROM ASIA! Asia have shared “Arcadia”, a new piece from the upcoming studio album, “Indigo”, out on November 6, 2026!” the Instagram caption reads, accompanied by a teaser of the new song.

Downes revealed that the song’s title traces back to a previous plan from 1985, when the band considered naming its third studio album Arcadia before ultimately choosing Astra.

“The original idea for ‘Arcadia’ was that it was going to be the title of the third Asia album, which we then later decided to change to ‘Astra.’ However, the word and concept have always been around us, and there have been many suggestions over the years to write a song about it,” the musician shared, per The Music Universe, adding, “So, here we are in 2026, 40 years later, and we’ve finally managed to bring it into being. ‘Arcadia’ is a historical Greek region and is depicted as an idyllic pastoral place free from the outside world. Our song symbolizes a retreat from everyday life, an escape if you like to a quieter place, something that we all need to do from time to time.”

As mentioned, the supergroup has been teasing fans with their comeback album, marking Indigo as their first record in 12 years since Gravitas in 2014.

At the same time, the upcoming album will showcase Asia’s new lineup and include John Wetton’s final compositions.

Indigo will feature posthumous recordings by English rock musician, singer and songwriter John Wetton, who died in 2017, including “Tattoo Indigo (Parts 2 & 3)” and “Chesapeake Bay.”

As for Asia, the band previously released “The Traveller (Into The Light)” in July as their lead single, followed by “Echo of You” in August.

It is hard to overstate the absolute hold Glee had on pop culture.

When Ryan Murphy’s musical comedy-drama premiered on Fox in 2009, no one could have predicted it would rewrite the music history books. Over the course of 121 episodes, the series’ talented young cast landed an eye-popping 207 hits on the Billboard Hot 100.

So how did the Glee cast accomplish this feat? Each episode, cast members would perform a series of song covers. Then they released the tunes as a digital single that same night. As the show became more popular, so did the cast’s covers, eventually charting new songs each week.

Billboard reported, “In October 2010 — two episodes into the show’s second season, just 16 months after its first chart appearance — Billboard announced that the Glee cast had broken the record for most entries in the chart’s history by a group, previously held by The Beatles with 71. Then four months after that, Glee took the all-time Hot 100 crown, notching nine entries on the chart — the troupe’s most in a week — including six debuts, to bring its all-time total to 113, past the previous record of 108 entries, held for decades by Elvis Presley.”

Unlike The Beatles and Presley, who built their chart legacies one single at a time, Fox released multiple tracks each week. This relentless release strategy allowed the Glee cast to pile up entries at a record-breaking pace.

Their first entries debuted on the chart dated June 6, 2009 (Journey‘s “Don’t Stop Believin'” and Amy Winehouse‘s “Rehab”), and their final entry was a cover of Bob Dylan‘s “To Make You Feel My Love” in October 2013. The Glee cast held the record for most entries for years until artists like Drake in March 2020 and Taylor Swift in 2023 surpassed or tied the milestone.

The Glee legacy continues. From series co-creator Ryan Murphy hinting at a potential reboot to original star Harry Shum Jr. tearing up the dance floor on Dancing with the Stars, the cast still dominates today’s entertainment headlines, proving interest in the pop-culture phenomenon isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

The Gilligan’s Island pilot was being filmed on Kauai on November 22, 1963, when President Kennedy was shot in Dallas. Production stopped. The harbor was closed for a national day of mourning. When the episode was finally edited together, a detail slipped through — at the 0:21 mark of the opening sequence, the Minnow passes a flag flying at half-mast. Nobody caught it. It sat in a vault for 30 years. Viewers really began to notice the flag while watching it in syndication. It’s still there.

The pilot was called “Marooned” — which ended up applying to the production crew stuck in Hawaii as much as to the fictional castaways on screen. It had 7 characters — the same number as the series — but only 4 made it to the broadcast version. Gilligan, the Skipper, and Mr. and Mrs. Howell stayed. The other 3 were cut entirely. The original Ginger was a secretary played by Kit Smythe. A second secretary character, Bunny, was played by Nancy McCarthy. Both were gone. Tina Louise replaced Smythe as Ginger Grant, the glamorous movie star, and Dawn Wells replaced McCarthy as Mary Ann. Tina Louise had walked away from Carol Burnett’s Broadway show “Fade Out — Fade In” just to take the role. Her agent had told her Ginger would be the lead star, not part of an ensemble. She read about 10 pages into the script and realized she’d been misled.

The Professor had his own problem. John Gabriel, who played him, was told his looks were too commanding, much like a leading man — too handsome in a way that might make him seem untrustworthy to viewers. CBS wanted someone more bookish. They replaced Gabriel with Russell Johnson, who went on to appear in all 98 of the show’s episodes. Gabriel built a solid soap opera career after that.

The pilot had other problems too. It was 2 minutes short. Lloyd Schwartz told Women’s World in 2025 that his father, creator Sherwood Schwartz, hated what he called “packing scenes” — moments where characters prepared to go somewhere instead of just going there. The original pilot had too many of them. CBS had already turned Schwartz down 3 times before agreeing to fund the pilot at all.

Here’s what almost nobody knows. The original 1963 theme song was a Calypso-style tune written by an up-and-coming young composer credited as “Johnny Williams.” That was actually John Williams — the same man who later wrote Jaws, Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Schindler’s List. He wrote the first Gilligan’s Island theme before anyone even knew his name. The “Ballad of Gilligan’s Isle” that everybody knows was a completely different song Schwartz co-wrote with composer George Wyle for the broadcast version.

CBS held the original pilot when the show premiered on September 26, 1964 — 62 years ago this week — because they were concerned that the 3 replaced actors looked so different from the broadcast cast that airing it would’ve just unnecessarily confused viewers. It sat in a vault until 1992.

The show ran for 3 seasons and 98 episodes until April 17, 1967, when it was canceled without a finale. It didn’t end because of low ratings — CBS needed a slot for Gunsmoke, the favorite show of network president William Paley’s wife, so Gilligan’s Island got the axe. The castaways were never officially rescued on screen. Schwartz spent years trying to get CBS to air a rescue episode and was turned down every single time.

The show went into syndication and has been running continuously in 30 languages ever since. The cast received no syndication royalties. None. Dawn Wells, who played Mary Ann, said years later: “No, they didn’t exist!” The show CBS turned down 3 times, filmed during a national tragedy, and was canceled to make room for a western is still running in syndication 62 years later. It’s also streaming now on Paramount+. The Professor was too handsome. Nobody ever fixed that either.

Paul Newman was already a famous actor when he starred as Fast Eddie Felson in The Hustler, but the movie made him a bona fide Hollywood star after its premiere on September 25, 1961.

The sports drama starring Newman, then 36 years old, and Jackie Gleason as Minnesota Fats went on to earn nine Academy Award nominations, but Newman did not win for Best Actor.

It actually took 25 years for the release of its sequel, The Color of Money, directed by Martin Scorsese and co-starring Tom Cruise, for Newman to reprise his character of Fast Eddie and win his first and only Oscar.

Now, 65 years later, The Hustler remains one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed movies.

Before his death in 2008 at the age of 83, Newman spoke about his role as the pool shark.

“It was one of those movies when you work every day and could hardly wait to get to work,” he said, “because you knew that it was so good that nobody was going to be able to louse it up.”

At the time he was cast, Newman had never even held a pool cue, unlike his co-star Gleason, who was already a skilled pool player in real life. World pocket billiards champion Willie Mosconi also mentored Newman, and he reportedly replaced his dining room with a pool table.

At the 1987 Academy Awards, where Newman won his first Oscar for The Color of Money after seven nominations — including his iconic roles in Cool Hand Luke and Hud —  he wasn’t even in attendance.

“It’s been a long time,” he said in a 1987 interview after the ceremony. “It’s like chasing a beautiful woman for 80 years, and then it’s ‘well, here I am.’ And you say, ‘so…now what’?”

The win came three decades after his wife Joanne Woodward’s own statue, prompting Newman to add, “Every time we get into an argument about cooking or laundering shirts, she shakes her Oscar at me, and I’m dead in the water. It would be a great equalizer now after 33 years. Sickening…”
