Female Maine Coon Is So Big, She Makes the Males Look Like Kittens
Maine Coons are huge. It's their whole brand: being huge and extremely furry. All Maine Coons are big, but they're not all the same: there are some who are bigger than others, and those cats blow my mind!
The one thing that usually rings true across the breed is that the male cats are bigger than the females. However, for one Maine Coon family... That's not quite the case. This female Maine Coon makes all the males around her look like kittens:

♬ Luna, amore e no - Piero PiccioniJZ Maine Coons has a ton of beautiful cats, both male and female. This cat, however, blows them all out of the water! Not only is she absolutely massive; she's got the prettiest fur ever. She looks like a Grey Smoke, with the way her fur seems to get lighter. Smoke Maine Coons have a really cool halo effect!
In the video, she can hardly hold her up! You can tell she's a little leaner than the male cats might be, but she is every bit as long and impressive. The male cats in this house definitely try their best to avoid upsetting her!

Make no mistake, male Maine Coons are massive, too. But when you see the two side by side, it'll be nearly impossible to tell them apart:

♬ Mambo No. 5 - Pérez PradoThe biggest difference there is the belly: when she's holding them there, you can see that the orange cat's belly is a little fuller and more solid. As for the grey one, her belly goes in a little. She's in shape! Good for her!
Female Maine Coons Grow Than MalesWe don't know exactly how old this girl is, but we do know that she's huge. She definitely seems full grown, at least!

Typically, a Maine Coon won't reach full-grown for 3-5 years. They experience the most significant growth within the first 18 months or so, but they continue filling out until then. Female Maine Coons are done growing at the earlier end of the spectrum. They're usually 10-15 pounds, and about 14 inches tall at their largest.
This sweet girl is definitely on the larger end! She can hold her own against the boys in the house, that's for sure!

Cat Sitter Walks Into House and Knows Something's 'Off' — Then She Finds a 'Hidden' Danger
Pet sitters play a vital role in families with fur babies. Watching over our four-legged family members when we're away, these compassionate caretakers make sure our cat and canine companions have everything they need for food, water, bathroom breaks, and affection. Family pets can get into dangerous situations if left alone too long, so having a reliable sitter is essential.
Julie Nashawaty is a pet sitter with a full roster. She recently went to check in on some cat clients and possibly prevented a disaster.
@julienashawatyAs a catsitter, I definitely have some crazy stories that lead to further reasons of how important it is to always having a catsitter check in on your cats at a MINIMUM of once a day. This particular day I experienced a scary situation that could have easily turned into a fire! I walked into a clients house and heard a strange noise and found a hairdryer plugged in and somehow TURNED ON in a freak accident in the house! The apartment was sweltering hot with the hairdryer blasting heat into a blanket and these two babies were all by themselves all night! This is a serious reminder to always unplug your hairdryer after use. It only takes a moment for things to go horribly wrong. Keep your home and more importantly, your babies safe! #FireSafety #HomeSafety #PetSafety #HairdryerHazard #Cats
♬ original sound - Auntie Julie - The Cat SitterNashawaty shared her visit on TikTok and immediately pointed out the necessity of a daily check-in.
"As a catsitter, I definitely have some crazy stories that lead to further reasons of how important it is to always have a cat sitter check in on your cats at a MINIMUM of once a day," the caption advised. "This particular day, I experienced a scary situation that could have easily turned into a fire!"
She entered the home and instantly heard a very loud and continuous sound. The home was abnormally warm, and both cats were clearly stressed out.
"I walked into a client's house and heard a strange noise and found a hairdryer plugged in and somehow TURNED ON in a freak accident in the house!" the story continued. "The apartment was sweltering hot with the hairdryer blasting heat into a blanket — these two babies were all by themselves all night!"
How the hair dryer was turned on is still a mystery, and it understandably upset both cats. One cat was perched on top of a high dresser, obviously distressed by the constant noise and excessive heat. The other cat was also nervous and anxiously paced. Nashawaty immediately turned off the hair dryer and reassured the felines that they were safe.
Why This Cat Sitter Is Urging Pet Parents to 'Unplug'Keeping appliances plugged in can be a major fire hazard or cause your pets anxiety and potential injury. Before leaving your home with your pets unattended, check the entire house or apartment to make sure everything is unplugged. Nashawaty reiterated this precaution in the conclusion of her social media post.

Golden Retriever Shares Her Most Prized Possession—and Her Mom Completely Melts
Ever wonder what’s really going through your dog’s mind when they bring you random ‘gifts’? What are you supposed to do with them? Some dogs have favorite toys they will guard fiercely and refuse to share with anyone. But then, there’s Lucy the Golden Retriever who has a favorite toy that she always wants to share with her mom.
The TikTok from @lucygoldenpawsshows Lucy walking over to her mom with her most treasured possession: a little snuggle pup toy. Not for fetch. Not for tug-of-war. Lucy's bringing it as a gift to the humans she loves.
The caption sets the tone: "Her snuggle pup will always be her favorite toy 🥹"
@lucygoldenpawsher snuggle pup will always be her favorite toy 🥹 #dogsoftiktok #cutedogs #funnydogvideos #goldenretriever #dogcommunity
♬ awww so cute - Cherri ⁉️The text overlay captures her mom's emotional reaction perfectly: "Me every time because wdym her little brain wanted to share her toy with me."
Translation: "What do you mean that she loves and trusts me so much that her little brain decided I deserved to hold her most precious thing?"
I’m not crying. You’re crying.
Lucy doesn't just drop her precious snuggle pup and walk away. She’s no deadbeat mom. She gently places the lovey near her mom, tail wagging between her legs—that vulnerable, sweet wag that says "I trust you with this."
Followed by a look of confirmation of the message received, “You understand the assignment, right, Mom?” Then she watches to make sure her mom understands the significance of what just happened.

This isn't just any toy. This is Lucy's favorite precious baby and she's choosing to share it with the person she trusts the most.
The comments understood the assignment:
"The tail wagging from between the legs I can't."
That's the detail that gets you. It's not the confident, full-speed wag of "let's play!" It's the soft, sweet, vulnerable wag of complete trust, "I'm giving you something important to me."
Lucy does this every time her mom returns home. Every single time. Her little brain processes, "Mom's here. I love her," and immediately thinks, "she needs my snuggle pup."
Why Dogs Share Their Most Precious Things With YouHere's what makes Lucy's behavior so special: Golden Retrievers are literally bred to bring ‘gifts’ to their humans.
According to ElleVet, retrieving and carrying things comes naturally to some breeds. These dogs' ancestors would carry food back to feed their pups after hunting. That instinct got passed down to today’s domesticated dogs—but some breeds kept that instinct a little stronger than others.
Golden Retrievers are one of those breeds. They're hardwired for "soft mouthing"—holding things gently without damaging them—and retrieving. It's in their blood. That's why Lucy carries her precious snuggle pup so carefully and why she brings it to her mom over and over again.
But it's more than just a matter of breed instinct. When your fur babies bring you specific objects repeatedly, especially their favorite lovies, it usually means something even deeper.
It's a gift for you. Dogs give gifts to show affection and respect. As pack animals, they bring treasures to the leaders they love and admire. You've probably reinforced this type of behavior without even realizing it—giving Lucy praise, pets, or attention when she brings the snuggle pup makes her want to keep doing it because she wants the relationship with her human.

It's complete trust. Dogs can be possessive of their favorite things. But, when Lucy brings her mom the snuggle pup—her absolute favorite baby—she's saying "I trust you with what matters most to me." That's a really big deal. That's not just sharing, that's putting their complete faith in us.
It's communication. Dogs can't use words to tell us how they feel, so they use actions to show us. Lucy repeatedly bringing her snuggle pup to mom is her only way of communicating, "I'm happy you're here" or "I love you" or maybe just "you should hold this because it makes me feel good and I want you to feel good too."
It's routine comfort. When dogs keep bringing the same object to you, it's often tied to emotional needs. Lucy has linked the snuggle pup with positive feelings—comfort, security, connection with her mom. Bringing it exactly when her mom arrives home helps Lucy process her excitement and pure joy.
For Golden Retrievers specifically, bringing you things isn't just a cute, quirky habit. It's literally what they were bred to do. Except instead of retrieving game birds for hunters, Lucy's retrieving her snuggle pup for the person she loves most.
10 Signs Your Dog Is Happy, Relaxed and Trusts You
Your dog may already be telling you how they feel—you just might not be reading the signs yet. From subtle shifts in posture to relaxed facial expressions and tail movements, dogs constantly communicate emotional signals that reveal whether they are happy, relaxed, or stressed in ways that are easy to miss for most pet parents.
“A dog’s body language can tell a story about their emotional state long before their behavior does when you know what to look for,” says Shir Limazati, CPDT- KA, of Another Chance Training. Learning to recognize happy dog behavior and relaxed dog body language can help owners better understand what their pet is truly feeling in everyday moments.
That’s why learning to read your dog’s communication style is so important—it helps you better understand what they’re trying to express and strengthens the bond between you and your pet. “Understanding your dog’s body language can also help a pet parent build a deeper relationship with their dog and quickly recognize when your pet feels comfortable with you,” Limazati says. Becoming familiar with these emotional signals not only strengthens your connection but also makes it easier to identify the subtle signs of a calm, content, and truly happy dog at home.
Below, Limazati shares her top 10 signs that your dog is happy, relaxed and emotionally comfortable in their environment—starting with the most common and easy-to-miss behaviors.

10 Signs Your Dog Is Happy, Relaxed and Trusts You A dog showing it loves its owner and feels at ease.We often focus on dog body language when our pets are scared or stressed, but it’s just as important to recognize happy dog behavior and relaxed dog body language. These subtle signals show when your dog feels safe, comfortable, and trusts you.
1. An Exposed BellyOne sign your dog is happy and relaxed can be seen in how they lay down. A dog rolling onto their back and exposing their belly can be a sign of emotional communication, but it doesn’t always mean the same thing. In many cases, this position can reflect vulnerability and trust, especially when paired with relaxed body language.
“Combined with soft eyes, a loose body, and no tension, it is a sign that your dog is trusting you enough to let their guard down,” explains Shir Limazati, CPDT-KA, of Another Chance Training.
However, Limazati cautions that this behavior is often misunderstood. “Sometimes when a dog rolls onto his back, it is them saying, ‘Please give me space. I’m not a threat,’” she says. “It can be an early sign of a dog feeling anxious in that moment.”
The key is context—if your dog appears relaxed overall, it may signal trust and comfort. But if their body looks stiff or uncertain, it could be a request for space rather than affection.
2. They Bring You Their Favorite ToyWhen a dog brings you one of their favorite toys, it’s more than just play, it’s a meaningful social gesture. In the dog world, offering something valuable is often a sign of connection, engagement and emotional comfort. In fact, it's a sign of a truly content dog.
“When a dog goes out of their way to bring you one of their prized possessions, that’s a pretty big deal,” Limazati says. She notes that for some dogs, this loving behavior can even represent a turning point as they grow more confident in their relationship with their owner.
“This behavior is less about them sharing a toy and more about your dog showing trust and asking to engage with you,” Limazati explains. “It is a clear sign they feel safe with you and trust you enough to interact with something that is special to them.”
3. They Look at You With “Smiling Eyes”A dog’s eyes can reveal a lot about how they’re feeling, and soft, relaxed eyes are often one of the clearest signs that a dog feels calm, comfortable, and emotionally secure around you. Some trainers even refer to this gentle expression as “smiling eyes.”
“The easiest way to describe smiling eyes is tension-free,” Limazati explains. “A dog who is relaxed will show soft, slow-blinking eyes that do not give the impression of fixation on a specific object.”
Instead of staring intensely or appearing overly alert, relaxed dogs tend to shift their gaze naturally and calmly. Limazati says their eyes move gently rather than locking onto something “as if they are waiting for something to break their trust.”
When dogs display this soft expression, it’s often sign your dog is happy and feels safe in their environment. They know they don’t feel the need to stay on high alert around the people they trust most.
4. Their Favorite Sleep Spot Is Next to YouIf you're looking for signs your dog is happy and relaxed, pay attention to their nap routine. Where your dog chooses to sleep can say a lot about how safe and comfortable they feel around you. Because dogs are naturally most vulnerable while resting, they tend to settle down in places where they feel the most secure.
“Dogs are instinctually wired to make sure they lie down to rest or sleep where they feel safest—a place they are certain nothing can happen to them while they are asleep,” Limazati explains.
If your dog regularly curls up beside you on the couch, at your feet, or near your bed, it may be a strong sign of emotional trust and comfort. “Choosing to sleep next to you? That tells you that your dog has chosen you as their safe space to be at their most vulnerable state—asleep,” Limazati says.
Dogs that consistently rest close to their owners often feel relaxed enough to fully let their guard down, which can be one of the clearest signs of a happy and emotionally secure dog.
5. They Lean Into YouWhen a dog leans their body against you, it’s often more than just a random habit—it can be a quiet sign your dog is comfortable. Many dogs use physical closeness as a way to feel reassured and connected to the people they trust most.
“It is more about a connection,” Limazati explains. “They are seeking to be closer to you physically. They are seeking affection, comfort, and trust.”
Whether your dog gently presses against your legs while you stand or leans into you while relaxing on the couch, this behavior can signal that they feel calm and secure in your presence. Dogs that seek out this kind of closeness are often looking for reassurance, bonding, and simple companionship from someone they feel safe around.

6. They Stay Calm When You LeaveDogs that feel safe and emotionally secure are often able to remain calm when left alone for short periods of time. Instead of pacing, barking excessively, or becoming destructive, they’re more likely to relax and settle into their normal routine until you return.
Limazati says many dogs struggled with separation after the COVID-19 pandemic because they became used to having people home more often. However, dogs that can self-soothe while alone are often showing a strong sense of trust and comfort in their environment.
“A dog being able to remain calm when you are not with them is absolutely a sign of a dog that trusts you, as it means they trust you will return and they feel safe in the environment and routine you have established for them,” Limazati says.
7. They Have a Relaxed MouthA relaxed mouth is often one of the clearest signs of relaxed dog body language and a sign of a dog's emotional wellbeing. Dogs that feel calm, safe and emotionally comfortable will typically hold their mouth slightly open without tension in the jaw, while the tongue and overall facial expression appear soft and neutral.
“When a dog is stressed, you will see more excessive panting, tight lips or jaw tension, sometimes lip licking, and very tense facial expressions,” Limazati explains.
If your dog’s face looks loose and relaxed instead of stiff or overly alert, it can be a strong sign your dog is happy, relaxed, and comfortable in their environment.
8. Their Ears Are in a Neutral PositionA dog’s ear position is one of the most subtle but reliable indicators of relaxed dog body language. While “neutral” can vary depending on the breed, it generally refers to your dog’s natural resting ear position when they feel calm and at ease.
“Pet parents usually know what their dog’s ears look like naturally, and that’s what I would consider neutral,” Limazati says. “When your dog’s ears are more neutral, it usually signals that they are happy, relaxed, and trusting of the current environment and of who is in their space.”
Understanding your dog’s baseline is key, since ear position can sometimes be a more accurate emotional indicator than tail movement. This makes it a helpful tool for reading dog emotional signals in everyday situations.
“The opposite of neutral would be ears pinned back or sharply turned forward,” Limazati explains. “Those positions can signal that your dog is on high alert, or feeling stressed or fearful.” When ears are relaxed and neutral, however, it often reflects a calm, emotionally comfortable dog.
9. Their Tail Is RelaxedA dog’s tail can offer helpful clues about their emotional state, but it’s important to read it in context rather than assuming all wagging means happiness. Alongside ear position, tail movement is one of the most commonly misunderstood parts of relaxed dog body language.
“The tail, next to the exposed belly, is the other body language of dogs that so often gets misinterpreted,” Limazati says. While many people assume a wagging tail always signals a happy dog, that’s not always the case.
“The key to assessing a wagging tail is how relaxed the tail is,” Limazati explains. “A stiff, fast wagging tail is usually not a happy tail. A slower, relaxed wagging tail, fluid in movement, is more likely to mean a happy, trusting dog.”
Limazati adds that the best way to interpret dog emotional signals is to look at the whole body, not just the tail. A relaxed wag paired with neutral ears or a soft mouth is often a strong sign your dog is happy, relaxed, and comfortable in their environment.
10. They Sigh DeeplyOne of the clearest signs of a truly relaxed and emotionally comfortable dog is a deep, audible sigh after settling down. It’s a subtle moment, but it often signals that your dog is letting go of tension and fully entering a calm state.
“There is no pet parent that doesn’t smile when they hear their dog take that slow, deep breath and then slowly let it out in a big, deep sigh,” Limazati says. “This is the biggest sign that your dog feels safe and relaxed. It is your dog releasing tension and transitioning into a calm, relaxed, and content state.”

Persian Cat With 'Human Face' Sounds Like a Chicken When Going Down Stairs

A solid go-to for the quickest pick-me-up is Gus: a Persian cat with a human man's face. He has a lot of talents (like wearing matching outfits with Dad for his performances), but now he's added something very special to that list, so turn up your volume!

♬ original sound - Stella Lefty Why Cats Make Noise Going Down StairsI'm a fan of whatever Gus does, and having one very vocal cat myself, I know those little sounds all too well. Cats make noises when skipping down the stairs for a few reasons.
It can be communication with us, a greeting (like a chirping sound or "trill"), the zoomies when they have a sudden burst of energy they need to burn, or a way of getting attention when the house is a little too quiet.
My favorite reason is that they're using the acoustics of the house so they're heard. It's a way for them to announce their presence or claim territory, and I think that's pretty adorable. Whatever reason Gus sounded off, it's his Willam Dafoe face I'll be thinking of the rest of my days.

Mini Dachshund Gently Rests His Head on Mom Before Falling Asleep—and It Says Everything
Having a dog in your life is one of the best experiences because when a pup loves, they love hard. They don't hesitate to share their affection, even if they have quiet ways of showing their trust and gestures that you're loved by them.
In this video, we meet a Mini Dachshund who makes it no secret how he feels about his mama. When it comes to nap time, he likes to put his head where he feels the safest, and the gentleness of the moment is so unbelievably sweet. Take a look!

Why Dogs Sleep Close to Their Favorite Person and What It Says About Trust and AttachmentFranklin is such a sweet doggy, and you can tell how much he loves his mama, which makes total sense given how he peacefully drifted off to sleep.
According to MyWoof, dogs are pack animals, and they like to be in groups to feel bonded and safe. In the wild, like wolves, dogs sleep together for safety and comfort, so when a pup stays close to their favorite person during naps or sleep, that's them saying how much they trust and love that person.
This can be especially true if your dog is feeling anxious or stressed, or if they're not feeling well, because dogs feel better with their humans around.
Of course, if your pooch doesn't sleep next to you and they prefer to sleep by themselves, that doesn't mean they don't trust or love you. Some dogs, like people, just sleep better in a different setup, and that's OK, too.

What makes this video work is that there is no forced interaction. The kittens have room to move. Bailey keeps his distance. And Sofia reaches carefully instead of grabbing. One commenter captured it perfectly: "Baby Sofia loves Bailey and the kittens, Bailey loves Sofia and the kittens, they both think: 'We are a family.'"

Mom Gives Tarantula a Toy Wand—and He Turns Into a Fairy Princess
Recently, I've been really wanting a Tarantula. I just think they're the coolest little things ever, and I've always wanted one... But I was always a little unsure about it. Now, though, I think it's time to pull the trigger.
What sealed the deal? This. When one Tarantula was given a toy wand, his mom wasn't expecting him to like it or really interact with it at all. However, he ended up really loving it, and now he's turned into a little fairy princess:
@spider_parentHe wants to be a Disney princess🥹#fyp #tarantula #princess #cuteanimals #spidersoftiktok
♬ original sound - PianoSpider Parent is a really good spider parent, clearly. I do this all the time: give my pets random things to see if they'll like them, only for them to never touch them. That wasn't the case this time, though!
His name is Terrence. He's pretty big, though it's hard to tell if he's full-grown or not. Even if he's not, he clearly has no trouble holding onto large items: a plastic fairy wand might not seem heavy to us, but to a Tarantula? Oof!

Terrence likes to have fun, and I love that he feels safe enough with his mom to do it. Sometimes, though, Terrence means business:

♬ MONOLITH - Melanie MartinezHe's a Curly Haired Tarantula, which explains why he's just about the fuzziest little guy I've ever seen. He's really good at this work-life balance: catch bugs, play with the wand, rinse, repeat. That's how life should be!
Do Tarantulas Need Toys?Keeping bugs as pets is interesting because there are just some things a lot of people wouldn't consider. For example, do they need toys? Can I pet them? What, really, is the point?

Tarantulas don't play in the same way other pets do, but they do need enrichment. Depending on your Tarantula, they either prefer to burrow or to climb. You can accommodate them by adding things to their enclosure, like:
- Different plants and branches.
- Differently-textured substrates in some areas, for a different digging experience.
That's really it, truly: these insects favor stability to avoid stress, and they really don't do very much. A comfy enclosure, regular meals, and the occasional fairy wand are perfect!

Former Lab Beagle Sees the Ocean for the First Time—Then Does Something Adorable
Beagles are one of those breeds who always look like they are about 5 seconds away from either solving a mystery or stealing your sandwich. They have those soft little faces, those giant emotional eyes, and an almost unfair ability to make every new experience look enormous. So when a Beagle who has already been through too much gets his first real taste of freedom by the ocean, it doesn't take much to completely ruin your day in the most beautiful way.
This is Blondie.
And yes, I'm emotional about him.
View this post on InstagramThe caption explains that 20 Beagles were driven from Ridglan Farms to New York City, and 5 of them later made their way to the Hamptons. Out of all of them, Blondie stood out because he was the most shut down. He was the one sitting alone in the yard, the one who looked like the world had already asked too much of him. Then this video happens, and suddenly he's at the shoreline, being held gently while his tiny feet start paddling in anticipation before he has even fully committed to the water.
That detail really gets you.
Because you can tell he wants this.
View this post on InstagramHe's a little apprehensive, sure, but the instinct is already there. His little feet are going. His body is trying to catch up with a moment his heart seems to understand before the rest of him does. And when he starts taking those first small steps into the seawater, it feels enormous. Not because it's flashy, but because it's not. It's one tiny dog, one edge of the ocean, and one very big new beginning.
One comment says, “I don’t mean to be dramatic, but I'm pretty sure this Ridglan footage is what’s keeping us a society going right now.” And honestly, I am not here to argue with that. My dog Lola is a rescue, too, and videos like this hit me every single time. There's something about watching a dog discover joy after fear that goes straight through your ribcage.
What makes Blondie’s moment so powerful is that it isn't just a “dog at the beach.” It's a former lab Beagle learning that the world can hold something gentle. Something fun. Something that doesn't ask anything from him except maybe one more brave little step.
That is why the clip lingers.
It's not the ocean, really.
It's what the ocean represents.
View this post on Instagram How Rescue Dogs Learn To Feel Safe in New PlacesBlondie’s beach moment is adorable, but it also shows something real about rescue dogs: Confidence often comes in tiny pieces first. The ASPCA recommends preparing a quiet, safe space for a newly adopted pet to decompress, because adjustment usually happens gradually, not all at once. Their adoption guidance also emphasizes that new pets need time, patience, and low-pressure experiences while they figure out a new world.
That's why a moment like Blondie’s matters so much. A hesitant step forward, a curious little paddle, a body that starts to loosen instead of brace—those are the real milestones. Some dogs run straight into joy. Others walk into it one tiny paw at a time.

This Everyday Cat Care Essential Is Making Litter Maintenance Less of a Chore
Parade Pets aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
Keeping a clean home with cats is one of those ongoing responsibilities that never really stops. Anyone with pets knows litter maintenance is not just about convenience; it directly affects the overall comfort of your living space. Odor control, dust levels and how often you have to clean the box all play a role in how manageable your daily routine feels. When litter starts breaking down too fast, or smells begin lingering, it becomes noticeable immediately and can throw off the entire atmosphere of your home.
I've learned over time that consistency is everything when it comes to pet care. You want products that don't just work for a day or two but actually hold up throughout the week. Especially in multi-cat households, things can get overwhelming quickly if the litter can't keep up. That's why performance, cleanliness and ease of use matter more than flashy packaging or marketing claims. At the end of the day, you want something that works quietly in the background without constant upkeep.

Arm & Hammer Seal Slide and Clumping Cat Litter, $12.49 at TargetTarget
Shop It!That's where the Arm & Hammer Seal Slide and Clumping Cat Litter really stands out. Priced at $12.49, this feels like one of those practical household essentials that simplifies a task most pet owners deal with every single week.
One of the biggest selling points here is the odor control system. A seven-day odor-free home guarantee immediately grabs attention, especially if you've dealt with litter boxes that start smelling within a couple of days. The idea of maintaining freshness for longer periods without constant scooping or full litter changes makes a noticeable difference in everyday living. It helps keep the space more comfortable for both pets and people.
Related: This $8 IKEA Storage Bin Doubles as Decor—and It’s Almost Too Cute to Pass Up
Another feature that makes a big impact is the non-stick slide formula. Anyone who has dealt with traditional litter knows how frustrating it can be to scrape stuck waste. The slide technology makes cleanup easier, reducing the usual effort and making maintaining the litter box feel less like a chore. Combined with moisture-activated micro granules that form tight seals around waste and plant-based particles that create rock-hard clumps, the overall scooping process becomes much more efficient.
Dust control is another area where this litter performs well. Being 99.9 percent dust-free matters more than people realize, especially when pouring fresh litter or scooping daily. Less dust means cleaner air around the litter box area and less mess spreading across floors or nearby surfaces. For households that prefer a cleaner indoor environment, that detail alone can be a major improvement.
It's also designed to handle multi-cat households, which is important for pet owners who manage more than one cat. Strong clumping performance combined with odor control helps keep the litter box manageable even with heavier daily use. The balance between absorption, sealing and odor containment makes it feel like a reliable everyday option rather than something that requires constant monitoring.
For me, what stands out most is how much easier it makes routine maintenance. Pet care already comes with enough daily responsibilities, so anything that reduces effort while maintaining cleanliness is a win. This type of litter doesn't change the reality of owning cats, but it does make the experience noticeably more manageable, cleaner and less time-consuming over the long run.

From Sick Kitten to Spoiled King: One Rescue Cat's Incredible Five-Year Journey
When most people think of kittens, they think of playful little furballs with plenty of energy who will bring the house down.
Yet, for KitKat, a rescue cat, the first year was nothing like that. Looking at what he went through, his first year was more like a survival story than a happy life. During that time, he battled cat flu, underwent surgery on his nose, and had nearly all of his teeth removed.

One commenter said, "From shelter glass box to fat and spoilt in 5 years. That's the redemption arc we needed. KitKat understood the assignment."

Surviving Kitten FluCat flu can be a dangerous and devastating disease for young cats. Viruses such as feline herpesvirus and calicivirus can cause upper respiratory infections in cats. The symptoms begin with sneezing, runny eyes, mouth ulcers, and difficulty eating.
For young kittens, the disease can be harmful because they dehydrate quickly and struggle to breathe.
In some severe cases, kitten flu can permanently damage the eyes, mouth, teeth and nasal passages. Luckily, KitKat didn't experience any of those.
Somehow, despite everything he went through, he gets to enjoy his comfortable life. His mom explained in another comment, "He's also got all his teeth except canines removed as a kitten before I got him."
Five Years Later, KitKat Finally Looks at HomeThe best rescue transformations are not the dramatic medical recoveries. They are quiet moments that build slowly.
A cat sleeping belly-up without fear. KitKat's photo shows that change. He went from a cat trying to survive to a king of the house demanding attention every single day.
After what he went through as a young kitten, he earned every second of his new life. One commenter wrote, "Thank you for loving this cat so deeply. His contentedness radiates through the later pictures. I can almost feel the love."

Rescue Dog Reunites With the Famous Foster Mom Who Saved Him—And His Reaction Was the Ultimate Gift
Isabel Klee is known for working miracles with rescue dogs, fostering over 35 canines to date. The animal advocate gained internet fame while tending to Tiki, a rescue dog who had emotionally shut down due to his traumatic past. Klee’s earned a substantial TikTok following as Tiki flourished under her care and was adopted into a forever home.
Now promoting her best-selling memoir, Klee reunited with Tiki almost a year after his adoption and saw firsthand that she chose the right family for the precious pooch.
@simonsitsA very full circle moment 🥹
♬ Anyone Else - Diamonds And IceIn the TikTok from @simonsits, Klee was at a book event and explained how she was about to see Tiki for the first time since his adoption.
"It has been almost a year and I cannot believe how he has thrived in his new home," Klee shared as she waited to see the canine cutie. "Honestly, I got a little bit emotional thinking about how far he's come... but I'm just so excited to see him and I can't wait."
Klee opened the door for Tiki and his mom, clearly thrilled to see the sweet pup. Tiki was adorned in a leopard print sweater that matched his mom's pants.
The rescue dog was hesitant with Klee at first and stuck by his mom to feel more secure. Klee knew Tiki just needed some time and gave him plenty of space to get acclimated. Soon, he sniffed around the room to explore and approached Klee, who was able to give him some gentle pets.
Tiki was more relaxed as time went on, yet stayed close to his mother. She is obviously Tiki's "safe place", and their bond was visibly unbreakable.
Naturally, Tiki and his mom stayed for the book event and proudly supported Klee's success.
The Beautiful Heartbreak of Fostering: Why Tiki’s 'Unexpected' Reaction Is Actually Every Foster Parent’s DreamTiki spent most of the reunion next to his mom rather than Klee, which thrilled the famous foster mom. The fur baby clearly feels loved, safe, and cared for in his new family, confirming Klee's decision on his adopters. Followers noted how Tiki's response was evidence of his successful rehabilitation under Klee's care and her wise selection of his forever home.

Meanwhile, my Pomeranian, Kingston, acts personally betrayed if I stop petting him for 4 seconds, so I fully understand the emotional power of tiny, dramatic dog hands.
What Should You Know Before Adopting a Rescue Dog?Adopting a rescue dog can be incredibly rewarding, but experts recommend taking time to understand each dog’s personality, medical needs, and adjustment period before bringing them home.
Helpful Things To Consider Include:• Your home environment and schedule
• Compatibility with children or other pets
• Energy level and exercise needs
• Veterinary care and grooming costs
• Training and socialization needs
• Patience during adjustment periods
Many rescue dogs also need time to fully decompress and feel secure in a new environment. Experts often reference the “3 day, 3 week, 3 month” adjustment rule as dogs slowly settle into their new homes.
And judging by Pinky’s happy ending, sometimes the perfect family is simply waiting for the right dog to find them.

Senior Golden Retriever Who Never Had Toys Can’t Stop Showing off His New Treasures
It's heartbreaking to think about all the dogs who aren't lucky enough to land in a loving family. Every time I glance over at my senior shelter Staffy, who'd completely given up when we found him, it chokes me up. Every dog deserves a happy ending.
Bruce, the senior Golden Retriever, didn't have the best start to his life. What began as a heartbreaking tale has become one of the sweetest rescue stories you'll ever hear, so you might want to grab the tissues for this one.

With everything he's overcome, Bruce's story is a tearjerker. The good boy never experienced what a warm bed, a hug, or the gentle touch of a human hand felt like. He was still the sweetest boy who probably spent his idle time wishing things could be different, better.

He's had a lot of emotional firsts in this new chapter, and he deserves every bit of them.

♬ Pieces (Solo Piano Version) - Danilo Stankovic How Toys Help Rescue Dogs AdjustAdopting a dog from a shelter or rescue comes with an endless list of benefits, but it can also come with a few adjustment challenges. There's no way to know every pup's full history or traumas—and there will be an adjustment period with nearly every new pet—so all we can do is give them everything they need to feel safe, secure, and loved.
One way to do that is by offering toys like stuffies, which can help reduce their stress, build confidence, and keep boredom at bay. The mental stimulation alone makes plush stuffies golden, but these comfort items also bridge the gap between what your relationship is in the beginning and how strong the bond can become. It helps them open up and trust their new family while also being the stability they need.
Bruce missed many years of life and the good things it has to offer. Showing off all his treasures just means he's grateful for this new chapter (and so are we)!

This $7 Interactive Dog Toy Is Becoming a Go-To for Keeping Pets Mentally Stimulated
One thing I've learned as a dog owner is that keeping your dog mentally stimulated is just as important as physical activity. Anybody with a high-energy dog like myself knows that walks alone sometimes aren't enough. Dogs get bored, they get curious, and when they don't have something engaging to focus on, they'll absolutely find their own entertainment around the house. As someone who owns a giant schnauzer, I've learned quickly that intelligent dogs especially need activities that challenge them mentally throughout the day.
Pet owners have really started paying closer attention to enrichment toys lately, and honestly, it makes sense. Interactive dog toys have become one of the easiest ways to reduce boredom, encourage problem-solving, and create a more engaging indoor environment. Whether it's rainy outside, too hot for long outdoor sessions, or you simply need something to keep your dog occupied while handling daily tasks, enrichment-based pet products are becoming essential for modern dog owners.

Hide & Treat Dog Puzzle Game, $6.99 at Hobby LobbyHobby Lobby
That's why the Hide & Treat Dog Puzzle Game immediately caught my attention. For only $6.99, this interactive dog puzzle feels like one of those affordable pet finds that can genuinely improve your dog's daily routine without requiring a huge investment.
What makes these types of toys enjoyable is the combination of reward and curiosity. Dogs naturally love using their nose and instincts to search for treats, and puzzle games tap directly into that behavior. Instead of simply handing over snacks, interactive dog puzzles encourage pets to think, move and engage while earning their reward. It transforms snack time into an actual activity rather than just a quick moment.

The design itself keeps things simple while still feeling functional. The blue and green color combination gives it a playful appearance, and the overall size feels practical enough for indoor use without taking up excessive space. Measuring 10 inches wide and deep, it's compact enough to move around easily while still giving dogs enough room to interact comfortably with the puzzle sections.
One feature I genuinely appreciate is the focus on material safety. The puzzle game is made from 100 percent polypropylene, a safe material because dogs constantly use their mouths and noses during play. As pet owners, you always want reassurance that the products your dog interacts with daily are built with safety in mind. The added dishwasher-safe convenience also makes cleanup significantly easier after repeated treat sessions.
As someone who enjoys spoiling my dog while also making sure he stays mentally engaged, I like finding products that encourage interaction rather than just passive entertainment. Especially with intelligent breeds like giant schnauzers, boredom can set in quickly if they're not consistently stimulated. Toys like this help break up the day and give dogs an activity that feels rewarding and engaging.
The best part, honestly, might be the value. Pet products can get expensive very quickly, especially interactive toys and enrichment tools. Finding something affordable that still delivers entertainment, stimulation and functionality feels refreshing. At under $10, the Hide & Treat Dog Puzzle Game feels like one of those simple purchases that could easily become part of your dog's regular routine.

7 Trainer-Approved Phrases That Instantly Boost a Dog's Mood
Words matter—even when it comes to your pets. If you’ve ever wondered how to talk to your dog to cheer them up, you’re not alone. Many dog owners quietly ask questions like “What can I say to make my dog happy?” or “Do dogs really respond to human words?” The truth is, certain words can make your dog feel happy when they hear them and even make them do a full-body wiggle. To find out what those are, read on to discover 7 phrases a trainer says can instantly boost your dog’s mood.
Pet experts say that certain everyday phrases can spark noticeably positive reactions in dogs throughout the day and raise their spirits. From moments of excitement to calm attention or happy engagement, dogs often respond in ways that surprise even experienced owners. For many pet parents, simple changes in how they speak can make daily interactions feel more connected, more responsive and more rewarding.
So if you’ve ever researched things you can say to make dogs happier instantly, you’re in the right place. Below, you'll find simple phrases backed by a trainer that can improve your dog's mood, no matter if you have a big dog or small dog. They will not only bring your dog joy, but they will improve your communication and tighten your bond as well.

7 Phrases That Boost You Dog's Mood A dog in a happy mood after hearing a phrase it likes.Dog trainers often use simple, friendly phrases during everyday moments with dogs that improve a dog’s mood. The best part is, pet parents can use them to make their pup happy and joyful too.
1. "Dinner time"When it comes to phrases that instantly boost a dog’s mood, anything related to food is usually a winner. For most dogs, mealtime is one of the best parts of the day, so hearing this phrase often triggers immediate excitement and joyful anticipation.
“Saying ‘dinner time’ is a phrase which will nearly always lead to immediate reinforcement—a large food reward, and so is likely to trigger dopamine release in a dog,” Annie-Mae Levy, CFBA, professional dog trainer at Woofz explains.
2. "Go fetch"Other phrases that can instantly perk your dog up are those tied to their favorite activities. For dogs who love chasing balls or retrieving toys, words like “fetch,” “get it,” or “ball” can spark immediate excitement because they quickly learn to associate them with playtime and fun.
“For a dog that loves balls or retrieving items, more generally, ‘fetch,’ ‘get it,’ and ‘ball’ can all trigger a very happy response as the dog will be anticipating their favorite game,” Levy says. “Repetitive ball throwing boosts dopamine in a similar way that food can do, but remember to consider your dog's joint health before playing too much fetch.”
If your dog needs a lower-impact option, Levy suggests hiding balls for them to sniff out instead. Think of it as turning playtime into a gentle treasure hunt.
3. "Time for a walk"Honestly, you may not even need to say this phrase—just get the leash out and watch your dog's tail wag. Still, Levy says, "time for a walk" is one of those phrases that puts your dog in a good mood instantly if they've learned to associate it with fun and adventure.
"Saying ’time for a walk’ or ‘walkies’ might trigger tail wags and excitement from your dog as they know they’re about to go outside to sniff around and potentially see some other dogs," Levy reports.
Related: 7 Sounds That Can Instantly Make Your Dog Happy, According to a Trainer
4. "Want a treat?"One of the easiest ways to bring joy to your dog's life is by offering something they love—like a tasty snack. For many furry friends, simply hearing the word “treat” is enough to spark excitement and happy anticipation.
"Lots of dogs will recognize the word ’treat’ or some other marker if you have taught one to mean they are about to be given something especially tasty," Levy says. "This will trigger a good mood in any dog that enjoys its food, but might not do so in a lower food drive dog."
5. "Good dog"“Good dog” is one of the most common phrases owners use to reinforce positive behavior and show affection. It’s often paired with pets, praise, or treats, helping your dog understand that they’ve done something right and that you’re happy with them.
“Good boy” or “Good girl” are similar variations that many dogs quickly learn to associate with approval and positive attention.
“Most dogs will hear these phrases and feel a mood boost knowing that the humans are pleased with them,” Levy notes.
6. "Yes"Levy says she had to include this simple word among the phrases that can instantly boost a dog’s mood and it's great to use when dog training as well. For many dogs, “yes” becomes a powerful marker when it’s consistently linked to something positive happening next.
“If a dog is conditioned to a marker word that means food is coming, this word will trigger an instant surge of good feelings,” Levy states.
7. "I love you"If you want to make your dog feel good, this phrase can go a long way. Many dogs learn to associate “I love you” with gentle moments of affection, such as being petted, spoken to softly, or simply feeling safe with you.
“If you tend to tell your dog you love them at times when they are feeling calm, being stroked or receiving some sort of affection, then lots of dogs will recognize this phrase and respond positively to hearing it,” Levy says.
Why Dogs Respond So Strongly to the Words You UseDogs don’t just respond to the words/phrases you say—they respond to how you say them and what they’ve learned they mean over time.
Levy says that certain terms are likely to boost a dog's mood for one of two reasons. “It could be because this is a word they have learned to associate with good things, such as a treat coming, your own good mood, a walk or being stroked,” Levy explains. “The second reason dogs might like some words more than others and feel happier upon hearing them is due to the tone of voice you use when saying the words.”
Levy adds that dogs are highly sensitive to vocal tone, and are more likely to respond positively to high-pitched, animated, or “baby talk” speech. Dogs can also learn certain words and short phrases through repetition and context. “The more consistent certain words are with certain situations, the stronger this association will be,” Levy says.

If you’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing a Bald Eagle up close, you know they can truly take your breath away. I’ve noticed that anytime one flies over my house here in Florida, the shadow hits first, and it’s so big it almost feels like a small plane passing overhead.
That’s why this next moment feels so unexpected.
Instead of soaring overhead, this beautiful bird is splashing around in a pool with a pile of toys.
Aurora is a 12-year-old Bald Eagle living at Christine’s Critters, a nonprofit licensed wildlife rehabilitation center in Connecticut. While she can't return to the wild, she’s clearly found her own way to enjoy the day.
Check her out in this TikTok from @christinescritters (April 29):
View this post on InstagramAurora is completely in her element, standing in a shallow pool with her favorite toys scattered around her. She dips her beak into the water, fishes out colorful rings, and flaps with excitement, clearly enjoying every second.
It’s not a scene most of us expect from a bird known for strength and flight, which makes it even more special.

According to her caregivers at Christine’s Critters, Aurora is a non-releasable Bald Eagle who was hit by a truck 11 years ago, which severely damaged her left wing and left her unable to fly. In 2024, she required a partial wing amputation to remove large, noncancerous tumors from that same wing, which is why she now lives permanently under expert human care.
But Aurora has adapted beautifully. She thrives in her role as an ambassador bird, and moments like this show just how comfortable and loved she is in her environment. The pool, the toys, the pure excitement all feel like part of a routine she genuinely enjoys.
