The heartwarming clip was shared by TikTok user @crurescue, and it shows Lily taking her first wobbly little runs while supported by a pink wheelchair harness that helps lift her front half as she moves.

So, what flowers don't attract hummingbirds? Blooms that are too shallow, too dense, or poorly shaped may be passed over in favor of easier option.

When it comes to flowers that repel hummingbirds, roses are one. Therefore, if you have lots of these pretty plants in your garden, they may be the reason hummingbirds aren’t coming to your yard.

"Roses lack the tubular shape hummingbirds prefer and may have limited accessible nectar,” says Kirk-Ballard. Because of this, these cute creatures are less likely to rely on them as a food source compared to nectar-rich, tube-shaped blooms.

If you want to attract more hummingbirds to your yard, experts say to skip planting these as they are a plant hummingbirds avoid. “Open, flat flowers like daisies are better suited for bees and butterflies, not hummingbirds,” Kirk-Ballard notes. "Their wide, exposed shape makes them less efficient for hummingbird feeding behavior."

Want more hummingbirds in your garden? These flowers may be keeping them away. “Many modern hybrids, like petunias, produce less nectar,” Kirk-Ballard says. As a result, these may not consistently attract hummingbirds despite their popularity in gardens.

Pansies Even though they are vibrant, hummingbirds tend to avoid gardens with pansies.

One garden mistake that keeps hummingbirds away is planting pansies as they offer low nectar production and are a flower structure that doesn’t align well with hummingbird feeding preferences. As a result, Kirk-Ballard notes they are simply not a strong match for attracting these tiny birds.

What flowers attract hummingbirds? To create a more hummingbird-friendly garden, focus on blooms that match their feeding style as these small birds are attracted to bright, tubular flowers. These plants are known to support pollinators and help encourage more frequent hummingbird visits.

"A good rule of thumb is to focus on plants that produce a lot of nectar," explains Clark. "Ultimately, though, which flowers are 'best' depends on what part of the country you are in."

Annette Cormany, master gardener coordinator and horticulture educator at University of Maryland Extension, agrees and adds that hummingbirds rely heavily on nectar sources to sustain their energy needs. “Each hummingbird needs nectar from about 1,000 blossoms a day to survive,” she says. “Having those in your garden matters to them”

The truth is, a hummingbird-friendly garden isn’t just about blooms—it’s also about how your space is set up. Small details in your yard could be keeping hummingbirds away without you realizing it.

In fact, adding a few simple features can make your yard feel more welcoming and encourage more frequent visits. “Nectar from flower sources provides natural food, but hummingbird feeders can supplement their diet,” Cormany says. She explains you can dissolve one part sugar in four parts water to create your own hummingbird “nectar."

Natural shelter is another key factor. “Heavily wooded areas provide protein options in the form of insects and also provide cover and shade,” Humm-Beatty says. 

Water features can also make a big difference. Instead of a traditional birdbath, Cormany points out a gentle mister or fountain dripper is often more appealing and may encourage more regular visits.

Experts also warn that chemical use in gardens may discourage hummingbirds entirely "Hummingbirds are very sensitive to chemicals,” she says. “Control pests organically and avoid chemicals to help hummingbirds and other wildlife.”

So how did this happen?

Poor Keanu, the Pomeranian, thought he was just on a walk outside and then found himself stuck in a modern art display!

It did make for a cool visual, though!

Many outdoor art installations allow dogs to come by, and unfortunately, this one was just a bit confusing to the little guy.

Because it was transparent pink glass, he may have thought he could walk through it, which is why he bumped his head and couldn't figure out where the exit was.

Also, dogs don't see color in the same way we do.

They can mainly distinguish blue and yellow, but red and green appear more like shades of gray, brown, or dull yellow, so that may have also contributed to Keanu's confusion.

The comments on the video were quite funny, as you can imagine:

"So from Kiki's POV, he was stuck behind an invisible force field," another wrote.

And my personal favorite: "Please don’t touch the art. I am the art."

It looks like from other videos on his account, Keanu loves to be outside, usually in a cozy little bag.

I love all dogs. Every single dog in the world deserves a safe and loving home, and every dog is adorable in my eyes. However, I do have a few soft spots when it comes to breeds: Boston Terriers, which I have 3 of, and anything mixed with a Corgi.

Toast the Golden Pup is actually the cutest dog I've ever seen! He's a rescue, and though he looks like a puppy, he's full-grown! When they got him, they had no idea what breeds he was mixed with, though everybody was sure he was part Corgi.

They did a DNA test on him, and ultimately, they learned that he's a mix of several breeds, including:

• Golden Retriever.
• Korean Village Dog.
• Cocker Spaniel.
• Australian Shepherd.

Of all of the breeds he's mixed with, Golden Retriever is actually one of the lowest percentages: about 15%. Just looking at him, though, he looks like a Golden Retriever with Corgi legs!

He also had a brother, who was a Golden Retriever named Brady. We're not sure if Brady was a rescue, too, but he was a senior boy, happily living his best life. That is, until Toast started causing all of that chaos:

That's why so many people on Reddit's r/germanshepherds were celebrating after Salvador's parent shared the news that he had successfully overcome the tumor.

Simple, yet Powerful Update

The update was simple, "My GSD Salvador 'The Predator' 12 years-old beat a tumor," but the emotional reaction was not. And the community knew how much that meant to him.

Most of the time, they are benign or only mildly malignant, which gives parents reason for optimism when surgery is possible.

That hopeful side is something pet parents love. We all panic when we hear the word "tumor," and understandably so. But not every diagnosis carries the same outcome. In cases like this, successful removal can give dogs many more comfortable, happy years.

A turkey named Mayonnaise is melting hearts after meeting her adopted babies for the first time. Though she’d never had chicks of her own, the sweet bird immediately stepped into the role—taking charge as if she’d been waiting for this moment all along.

The species gets its name from the distinctive dark spots located near the rear of its body, though those markings can become difficult to see as the octopus changes color to blend into its surroundings.

As seen in Casey’s video, the Double-Spot Octopus has remarkable camouflage abilities, making the species both difficult to spot and difficult to study.

While many octopuses hide among rocks or coral, the Double-Spot Octopus burrows directly into the sand. Using its arms, it rapidly pulls sand and sediment over itself while simultaneously changing color and texture to match the ocean floor.

Though the octopus may appear to completely vanish beneath the sand, it is actually covering itself and blending seamlessly into its surroundings.

What viewers describe as alien-like behavior is actually the remarkable camouflage ability the octopus uses to protect itself from predators under the sea.

Ariyah the Cane Corso puppy lives with her parents on her own, but they see her brother's 3-year-old Golden Retriever all the time. They'll be around each other often enough that they'll need to establish a food chain... And clearly, the Golden came out on top.

Ariyah is only 14 weeks old, so meeting other dogs is mostly off the table: she still has one round of shots left. They don't want her to be around others until she's fully vaccinated, which is the smart and safe way to go, but they know the Golden Retriever well. She's all vaccinated and good to go!

The TikTok from @soccercatmom told the beautiful story of the special bond between these two sweet foster cats.

"Lieutenant Dan was so scared when we got her," the online text explained as the black-and-white kitten lay curled up in a ball. "Thankfully, it wasn't too long before her sister, Jenny, took her under her wing."

Clips showed Jenny cuddling and caressing her little sister as she watched over her, which helped the disabled kitty come out of her shell.

And for good reason. Because this isn't just a cute naming coincidence. This fish genuinely looks like an underwater muppet, and the story behind its discovery is equally magical.

The Real Science Behind the Ocean's Newest 'Muppet' Species

David Harasti first spotted this creature in 2002 while diving off Papua New Guinea. A tuft of red algae caught his eye in a shadowy coral overhang. Then it moved.

He snapped a photo with his film camera. When he processed the film back in Australia, he could make out an eye. "That's when I could make out it was actually an animal. And it didn't exist in any of my books," Harasti, now principal research scientist at the Port Stephens Fisheries Institute, told the Brisbane Times. "I knew then it was a new species."

Then began a 20-year quest to find it again.

Harasti returned to Papua New Guinea six times. Never saw it. Traveled to the Solomon Islands based on reported sightings. Never saw it. Searched throughout the Indo-Pacific for two decades. The fuzzy phantom stayed elusive.

"It was like an underwater Yowie," sporadic sightings cropping up in books and blogs. Some saw it in orange. Others in purple and green. But always shaggy. Always gone before anyone could collect a specimen.

Part of Harasti's obsession stemmed from the fish's likeness to Mr. Snuffleupagus—the galumphing yet elusive mammoth-like muppet introduced as Big Bird's imaginary best friend. A rare, mythical creature the humans didn't believe in. No one ever saw him.

The parallel wasn't lost on Graham Short, a global expert in identifying new syngnathids (the family that includes pipefish, seahorses, and seadragons). He joined the search.

Everything changed in 2020. Friends alerted Harasti they'd spotted the cryptic fish on the Great Barrier Reef. Harasti had a specimen collection license and one last shot.

He and Short flew to Cairns, sped to Saxon Reef. Nothing. Then they dove at a second location.

Fifteen meters deep, within a coral nook covered with red algae, they found two shaggy pipefish: male and female. Enough to describe a new species.

"Graham and I were hugging underwater. I kid you not. We were high-fiving, so excited," Harasti said. "This is something I've been searching for 20 years. It is the holy grail of the ghost pipefish world, it's the rarest of the rare."

Short CT-scanned the tiny fish (no longer than a matchstick), measured fin rays and snout lengths, analyzed genetics. The scientists formally announced Solenostomus snuffleupagus in the Journal of Fish Biology, officially naming it the hairy ghost pipefish.

Harasti approached Sesame Workshop for their blessing. "They were ecstatic," he said. "This hairy ghost pipefish is so rare, so elusive. Everything matches: the hairy filaments, the long snout. It's a really good replica of Mr. Snuffleupagus underwater and it has that same mystique."

The discovery is crucial for future conservation. You can't protect and save something without a name or proof of existence. And now, thanks to two dedicated scientists and one very patient underwater muppet, Snuffy has his official scientific doppelgänger.

The litter of 10 (yes, TEN!) kittens has fierce-looking parents to come out in these beautiful shades of peach. They gradually "run out of ink," fading closer to a very light orange—almost white—that makes them look like a breathtaking sunset when combined. Mama, who's also a real beauty queen, sure is proud of her new brood, and we can't blame her—they're all perfect in their own way!

Maine Coons come in more than 80 recognized colors and pattern combos, but the base colors are mostly black and red. The rest are genetic and made through the dilution of blue and cream and the inclusion of white.

These cuties can be born with anything from solid all-black, snow-white, and complex silver smoke palettes to Tabby patterns (brown Tabby is the most common), which can be ticked, classic, or mackerel.

The only exception to Maine Coon kittens not recognized by The Cat Fanciers' Association includes pointed color patterns (Siamese, etc.), lavender, and chocolate babies. Also, any of them can have white patches, making them extra unique!

Here's a more comprehensive list of Maine Coon color variations:

• Solid colors come in white, black, red, blue, and cream.
• Tabby kitties can be brown, silver, red, blue, cream, and classic varieties.
• Tortoiseshell and Torbies (Tortoiseshell Tabby) are black or blue, but can have patches of cream/red
• Smoke kittens have blue, black, and shaded variants.

It doesn't matter to me what color any kitten comes in, but these peach cobbler, pumpkin, tangerine-tinted kitties are truly a sight to behold!

The video is almost offensively sweet. A tiny baby bunny is out in the yard, and instead of getting ignored or chased off, he seems to have been folded into the duck family like everybody signed off on it weeks ago. The caption says the ducks have been raising this little rabbit in the backyard for a month, and that the mama duck in particular has been absolutely doting. Watching them interact, you can see why people are losing it. The bunny looks small enough to fit in a cereal bowl, and the ducks are moving around him with this calm, protective, oddly parental energy that makes the whole thing feel like a children’s book somebody forgot to tone down.

And yes, the comments are exactly what you want them to be. One person wrote, “This is what TikTok needs more of ❤️❤️I love this ❤️❤️,” which, yes, fair. We have all seen enough bad takes and weird rage-bait to know that a backyard duck couple soft-launching a rabbit adoption is a public service.

The bunny doesn't look like a random guest passing through. He looks settled. The ducks look invested. It's not giving “brief curiosity.” It's giving, “You live here now, and there are rules.” That kind of cross-species tenderness always hits people hard because it feels like a break in the usual script. Ducks are supposed to duck. Bunnies are supposed to bunny. Nobody told us there would be this much community organizing.

Of course, the real world is a little more complicated than the Disney version. Wild baby rabbits are usually best left alone if they are healthy, because mothers often stay away from the nest for long stretches and return only briefly to nurse.

Still, inside the little emotional universe of this clip, none of that changes the main fact: This bunny found himself surrounded by two ducks who seem to have decided he counts. And honestly, that's enough to break a person a little.

Humane World for Animals says uninjured baby rabbits in an intact nest should usually be left where they are, and if people suspect a true orphan, they should contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator rather than try to raise the animal themselves.

So yes, this is unbearably cute. It's also a reminder that when nature does something gentle and weird, people will absolutely stop what they are doing and stare at it for a while. As we should.

Every single day, like clockwork, Otis the Golden Retriever walks over to his elderly neighbor's front door carrying his most precious possession: a stuffed duck.

But the video tells the rest of the story. Happily, Otis sits ever so patiently outside his neighbor's door. The duck lovey rests in front of him like a peace offering. He's not barking or scratching at the door. He minds his manners. He's just sitting and waiting, because he knows what’s about to happen next. The anticipation is palpable.

Otis's routine works because it's a flexible one. His neighbor is elderly and at home. The visit can happen at any time during the day that’s convenient for both of them. But it does happen at some point every single day, and that consistency is what actually matters.

Clear expectations matter. Part of what makes Otis so patient is that he is confident and knows the rules. He knows how this works every single day.He brings his duck and places it in front of the door. He waits. The door opens. He gets invited in. The pattern is clear, so he can relax into it. He knows if he does his part, the routine should play out as usual.

For dog parents, the lesson here is quite simple: routines aren't about being rigid or controlling. They're about giving your dog a framework and boundaries that help them understand their world, their place in that world and feel secure being there.

Otis understands all of that. His neighbor gets it. And now thousands of people watching their daily ritual get it too.
