Sunbathing Basset Hound Takes in the Sun, but What His Ears Do Steals the Show

Thu, 06/04/2026 - 7:14pm

A sunbathing Basset Houndjust became a social media sensation, all because his big floppy ears played a star-making role in a heartwarming dog video. Nearly 300,000 viewers have liked the viral post, which has followers rushing to the comment section and joking that this pup needs a pair of goggles.

In the video, which has been shared nearly 150,000 times, Tom Mater the Basset Hound can be seen soaking up the sun during a boat day with his humans. As the boat speeds across the water, the dog positions himself in the middle of the motorboat near the captain's chair.

That's when the dog's ears take over and secure a starring role in the adorable social media clip. As the wind gusts across the water, the Basset Hound's ears flop over his eyes. Back and forth they go, while the dog remains completely unbothered and totally at ease.

While it may seem like Tom Mater's ears are there solely for viewers' entertainment, those signature Basset Hound ears actually serve a very important purpose.

Bred to be expert trackers, Basset Hounds use their ears to help sweep scents toward their noses. Those oversized ears act like a natural broom, directing scent particles upward and making it easier for the dogs to follow a trail.

The breed's large ears may also help reduce distractions, allowing them to focus on the important task at hand—tracking scents.

For this dog in the TikTok video, however, his ears are sweeping up plenty of charm and turning him into a social media star.

Adoring fans flooded the comment section, nearly bursting with enthusiasm over the adorable moment.

"He's perfect," shared one commenter.

Another added, "Ears flapping, nose wiggling — it's gonna be a good summer y'all."

"Just flipping and flopping everywhere," wrote another.

Other viewers had specific suggestions for dealing with the dog's windblown ears. Advice ranged from getting him a pair of goggles to tying his ears back with a scrunchie.

We think this dog—and his flopping ears—are just perfect the way they are.

Horse Naps With His Human and His Dreamy Snore-Fest Is the Sweetest White Noise

Thu, 06/04/2026 - 6:25pm

The amount of trust our pets and animals place in their humans is often reflected in how they seek comfort and care from us. The bond between humans and animals runs deep, with animals building trust in their caretakers over time. Dog and cat parents know how intense this relationship can be, but a sleepy horseis going viral on social media thanks to a snore-filled nap that may be one of the ultimate signs of the animal's comfort with its human.

In a video shared to social media, a horse can be seen lying down and snoozing on a human's chest. The horse's comfort while napping is obvious, but it's the animal's snores that are taking the internet by storm.

This horse isn't just resting—he's resting so comfortably that he's drifted into a dreamlike state, with his booming snores serving as the ultimate white noise machine. This unbothered horse doesn't appear to have a care in the world. He clearly knows he's in good hands. Off to dreamland he goes.

More than 400,000 viewers have liked the post on TikTok, and nearly 50,000 have shared it. To say this horse's sleepy nap is a viral sensation would be an understatement.

Why This Sleeping Horse Video Is Resonating With Millions @sophie_tann6341

Just a sleepy horse snoring 😂😂#equestrian #equestrianstruggles #frisian #frisianhorse

♬ original sound - Sophie Tanner

Sure, the horse's snores are hilarious, especially for viewers who don't have to try to squeeze in a nap nearby. But there's more to this heartwarming social media video than just a cute horse snoring while it naps on a human's chest.

The video has resonated with so many viewers because it showcases the remarkable level of trust animals can place in humans. In the equestrian world especially, trust and comfort are essential.

Horses are naturally cautious animals, having evolved as prey species. They're wired to remain alert to potential danger and can be easily startled by loud noises or sudden movements. Building their trust takes patience, consistency, and time—and this human has clearly earned it.

Envious viewers commented, "I would pay good money to take a nap with a horse," while others simply appreciated the "wholesome" social media moment.

We couldn't agree more.

Previously Traumatized Rescue Dog Meets Forever Family, and It's Literally 'Love at First Sight'

Thu, 06/04/2026 - 6:10pm

Niall Harbison often works miracles with the street dogs he saves through his Thailand animal rescue, Happy Doggo. So many of the canines he comes across have been severely abused and are in poor health, yet the animal advocate is committed to every dog's recovery and rehabilitation.

Harbison rescued Sienna, a sweet brown street dog, when she was in critical condition. She needed serious medical attention and lots of love to heal, so Harbison and his team completely stepped up.

View this post on Instagram

Sienna arrived at Happy Doggo six months ago, suffering from extensive skin infections and mange to the point where she had no fur. She had been used for breeding, causing further health issues, and was afraid of human touch due to all the trauma she experienced.

Harbison and his team made sure Sienna got the medical care she needed and, with time and patience, she let her guard down to receive their love and affection. Today, Sienna is healed and boasting a beautiful golden and black coat.

The Instagram video from @niall.harbison shared previous clips from when Sienna first arrived at the rescue to her transformation today. Harbison made a vow that she would have another chance at a happy life.

"Six months ago, I promised she'd have a family and look fantastic," the onscreen text read. "Today was the day."

Sienna's New Home Is in Wales

A family from Wales saw Sienna's story and knew she would make a wonderful addition to their home.

"Today, after months of building her back up, was a very special day," the caption shared. "Her family flew all the way over from Wales to introduce themselves, spend a week getting to earn her trust, and bring her back to her forever home, where she will roam the beaches and the forests and live the happy family life that she always deserved."

Harbison described the initial meeting as "love at first sight," where Sienna and her new family felt an instant, mutual bond. The precious pooch tends to be on the shy side but immediately welcomed her family with open paws.

"Sienna is one of the most gentle souls you have ever met and she really took to her new parents so well," the caption noted. "She's normally a little cautious, but today I think she actually knew in her heart that this was her big moment. What a happy ending."

Dogs Are Causing Unexpected Drama at NYC Businesses—and People Have Opinions

Thu, 06/04/2026 - 1:48pm

In the past few years, dog-friendly cafés have become the norm in many great cities. Just imagine having a latte, a pastry, and a friendly dog lying under your table. Sounds pretty amazing, right?

Well, it turns out, New Yorkers have had enough. People in New York City might put up with a lot of things, like subway delays and noisy neighbors, but residents have seemingly reached their limit with dogs inside coffee shops.

🐶SIGN UP to get "pawsitivity" delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

According to city complaint data reviewed by multiple outlets, reports involving dogs inside coffee shops and food establishments have doubled in recent years.

In 2025 alone, there were more than 1,500 complaints, ranging from barking and disruptive behavior to dogs wandering through stores.

Why Are So Many New Yorkers Suddenly Complaining About Dogs?

According to a report by the New York Post, Black Star Bakery and Café on the Upper East Side has more than 125 complaints this year alone, and more than 600 since 2020. And according to one of the baristas working in Joe Coffee in Brooklyn Heights, the number of dogs coming into the shop had become a bit of an issue.

The System Is the Problem

Here is the trick: Under the New York City health code, dogs are only permitted inside food establishments if they are registered service animals. Staff can ask guests whether their animal is a service dog and what tasks it performs. However, they cannot demand documentation or proof of disability.

This is where the system fails. Many pet parents who wish to have their furry companions with them while enjoying their coffee are misrepresenting them as service animals.

According to Dr. Darin Detwiler, the current system is being abused, and pets, no matter how loved, are not service animals.

How New York Got Here

Several factors contributed to the growing number of pets in New York City. Post-pandemic outdoor dining normalized bringing dogs along. In the past few years, the pet humanization trend has normalized the treatment of pets as family members. It is no longer niche. Nowadays, pets are part of the mainstream.

Business owners, afraid of confronting customers over policy violations and losing regulars, allow it.

The result is café workers are stuck between two sets of customers. The first group demands that places be pet-friendly, while the others do not want to see pets in coffee shops and food establishments.

Neither group is unreasonable. In the past few years, New York City has become more pet-friendly. As shown in a YouTube video from Irene Evergreen, bringing your dog to high-end restaurants is now the new normal.

Can You Train Your Dog to Remain Calm in Public?

Taking a dog to a restaurant is a privilege your dog has to earn. You cannot take a dog out until he has learned important skills. If pet parents want to keep the pet-friendly policy moving forward, they will have to put in the effort and time.

There are four skills dogs need to learn before they can go on a coffee date. The most important ones are settling down on cue, ignoring passing people, responding to their name, and remaining calm around dogs.

Start the training at home, where there are no distractions. Put your dog in a down position, then feed high-value treats between their paws to encourage them to keep their head down. Reward for remaining calm while adding small distractions. Then, move to an area with more distractions, like the park.

It takes time before you train your dog to remain calm while you enjoy your morning espresso, but it is worth it.

All dog parents want their pets to be welcomed, but the easiest way to keep public spaces dog-friendly is making sure dogs are calm, comfortable and under control.

Rescued American Bulldog's Quiet Changes Leave Owner Searching for Answers

Thu, 06/04/2026 - 11:48am

For many pet parents, the hardest part of loving a dog is realizing that you might have to say goodbye to the one you love. And that is the single biggest love gesture you can make. According to a Reddit post, Chance's dad is going through those thoughts right now.

Per his post, his American bulldog is battling an aggressive cancer affecting the spleen. He rescued Chance when the dog was 10 years old, and now, three years later, he is considering his future options.

🐶SIGN UP to get "pawsitivity" delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

He is thinking about the question no dog parent ever wants to face: How do you know when it's time?

No one warns you about the end when you bring a dog home. Everyone tells you about the joy, the walks, and how your dog will change your life. However, for this devoted dog dad, the last three years have meant everything.

Five Months Went by Fast

Chance's dad got the news about cancer for the first time in January. In a post on r/AskDogOwners, he explained that Chance is his first dog and he has never had to decide on euthanasia. Since Chance's diagnosis of hemangiosarcoma of the spleen in January, his health has been declining.

Five months have gone by, and Chance's dad still doesn't know what to do next. He said that his American bulldog has never been an energetic dog who greets you at the door and cuddles with you on the couch. He doesn't have much to compare his current well-being with previous behavior.

Right now, his biggest fear is what the vet told him. If the tumor ruptures, it would be a painful death.

Signs Your Dog's Quality of Life is Declining

There is not a single sign that the end is close, and every dog is different. However, common signs include repeated incontinence, especially when the dog is unaware it is happening, withdrawal from people, inability to move comfortably, difficulty standing, disrupted sleep, and no longer seeking closeness with people.

For many pet parents, there is no clear moment when the decision becomes obvious. Dogs do not announce their pain. They adapt to it, and many continue to eat, wag their tails, and enjoy life after the illness.

Many pet parents, including Chance's dad, are trapped between the fear of acting too soon and the fear of waiting too long.

A Different Way to Think About the Decision

Many pet parents who have been in the exact situation offered guidance to Chance's dad. One person described how their dog pulled away in the final hours, turning her back to the couch and staring toward the wall, as if distancing herself. They took her to the vet, where they held her and told her they loved her.

Another talked about how they lost their dog to lung cancer before Christmas, when the dog stopped eating. They called it the hardest day of their life, adding, "It takes a lot of strength and compassion to make that decision. Godspeed."

That decision is not about giving up; it is about responsibility. Loving them all the way through is the best thing we can do as pet parents.

For rescue dogs, after everything they have been through, there may be no greater gift than having someone willing to carry that burden when the time comes.

Dachshund Has To Wear a Mask on Walks Now—and It’s Sending People

Thu, 06/04/2026 - 10:55am

Dachshunds already walk through the world like tiny undercover detectives with suspiciously long bodies. They are low to the ground, highly motivated, and absolutely convinced every leaf, wrapper, crumb, mystery glob, and sidewalk object deserves a full investigation.

So when one little hot dog showed up for a walk wearing a mesh mask over his whole face, the internet immediately understood the assignment. This was clearly not a fashion choice. This was a lifestyle intervention.

View this post on Instagram

In the video, the adorable pup trots along with his face fully covered, looking like he has been placed on snack probation by a very tired dog parent. The reason is painfully relatable for anyone who has a pup with a talent for finding the worst thing on the ground and deciding it belongs inside their body (I have this dog). His humans are clearly done with the "eat first, vomit later" routine, and I get it.

The mask covers his whole little face, which makes him look both protected and deeply embarrassed. It has the energy of a dog who has been caught too many times making bad outdoor decisions and now has to wear the consequences in public.

And you just know, the neighborhood dogs had notes.

There's something so wildly funny to me imagining the other dogs walking by like, “Oh no, buddy, what did you do?” He may be cute, but he has clearly lost unsupervised mouth privileges.

View this post on Instagram

As silly as it looks, the idea is kind of genius to me. I have a pooch who also loves to eat the mysteries, and I would be lying if I said this didn't make me pause and think, “Wait, we may need one of those.” Some dogs sniff. Some dogs stroll. Some dogs behave like the entire world is a buffet, no matter the consequences.

For those pups, a safe barrier on walks can be less about embarrassment and more about survival. Nobody wants a peaceful evening walk to turn into a dramatic race to remove a suspicious object from a dog’s mouth while they suddenly develop the jaw strength of a crocodile.

This Dachshund doesn't seem defeated (maybe a little). He's still out there, still walking, still being his adorable self. He may not be allowed to sample the forbidden sidewalk mysteries anymore, but he has not lost his sparkle. He's simply entering his responsible era, whether he asked for it or not.

And honestly, I think he looks good doing it.

Why Dogs Eat Everything on Walks

If your dog treats walks like a scavenger hunt, you're not alone. You can start by practicing “leave it,” bringing high-value treats, and keeping your dog close in areas where trash, animal poop, or random snacks tend to appear. For pups who are determined little goblins, a properly fitted basket-style muzzle or mesh barrier can be a helpful management tool, especially while you work on training.

The American Kennel Club explains that dogs who eat nonfood items may need prevention, supervision, leash control, and sometimes a basket muzzle in situations where they might grab something unsafe. The big thing is comfort and fit, because your dog should still be able to breathe, pant, and move safely.

Some pups need a little extra help to not eat the universe, and that's OK. Love means occasionally dressing your Dachshund like a tiny beekeeper with court-ordered supervision.

Watch These Foster Kittens Figure Out Exactly How to Escape the Pet Gate

Thu, 06/04/2026 - 10:30am

Kittens are obviously brand new to the world, but they come with a lot of energy — and plenty of determination. I've never met a cat who couldn't cross any pet gate they set their mind to, and despite how tiny the foster kittens in this TikTok video are, they still make it happen.

One second, they're struggling to use their tiny paws to climb over it, and the next, they're hopping over like they've been doing it their whole lives.

@michelleski19

It only took a couple days until the gate was rendered completely useless. #fosterkittens #kittenrescue #kittensoftiktok #kittentok #kittenlove

♬ Porchlight Dawn - Lawn Gnome Blast

We have foster mom Michelle to thank for this adorable footage that, in her words, shows "the progression of their jail break attempts."

First, the four kittens can be seen scampering over to the gate, and while the gray kitty easily makes the jump, their three siblings aren't quite as good on their feet just yet. (Give them a break — they're babies!)

Soon enough, one of the orange kittens figures it out, climbing over the gate with sheer brute force, and the next time the door opens, the other orange kitten is able to join them.

It takes the tiny tabby kitten the longest to master the new skill, but their gray and white sibling is ready to cheer them on when they finally succeed. They were a little nervous at first, but this kitten never gave up!

Related: Nobody Will Adopt These Sweet Kitten Sisters, and the Internet Is Devastated

The Kittens Already Have Their Own Virtual Cheering Section

Now that the video has gone viral, people are getting really into rooting for their favorite kittens in the video, including some defending the tabby kitten who was the last to make it over the gate.

One commenter even shared their theory that it's not that the tabby couldn't make it over the gate, it's just that they didn't want to — yet. "He thought about it, and then realized that the oranges were on the other side and decided 'nope' was the best option!" the commenter wrote.

Another person quickly got emotionally attached (and with how cute these babies are, how could anyone not? "I'm too emotional for this! I started tearing up when that baby finally got it!!!" another tabby fan added.

Others were reminded of their own kittens, with one writing, "The sound of them running on carpet is the best sound ever. I remember when my girls were 12 weeks old and zooming around."

If you've ever raised a kitten, you probably remember the quick switch between being able to keep them all in one place and then, suddenly, chaos. Pet gates don't work forever when cats are involved (they're too good at jumping and climbing for that), but it is really sweet to see them growing and learning new tricks... even the ones that make our lives a little harder!

Shelter Cat Who 'Hasn't Opened Up to Anybody' Lets Staff Member Hold Her In Heartwarming Breakthrough

Thu, 06/04/2026 - 10:10am

Many animals emotionally shut down when placed in a shelter. The stressful and chaotic environment causes them to withdraw in fear and anxiety. It takes a lot of time and patience to get these dogs and cats to trust again.

Elle is a long-haired gray cat who was recently brought to the NAWS Humane Society. She has had a difficult time adjusting and only recently let someone show her some affection.

@franflight

Today was a big day for Elle. Getting her out of her cage was tough, but It was needed for the both of us. We bonded today for the first time and I think she’s starting to trust me. Elle came to us after being relinquished for behaviorally marking around the home when the other cat in the home started to hiss at her. I believe that Elle’s next home should be quiet with no dogs, and with an experienced cat owner who has cats that are very calm, submissive, or docile as Elle has always been a shy and reserved girl. Elle was found as a kitten and grew up in her previous home and was never an outdoor cat. If you are serious about adopting Elle please subm it an adoption application at nawsus.org and if you have any questions about her please feel free to message me. I love you guys so so much and hope you fall in love with Elle as much as I have, and I hope you see how much potential she has. 🥹🤍🫂 Senidng you guys all of my love as always. 🫂🫂🤍 #adopt #adoptdontshop #cat #catsoftiktok #catadoption

The TikTok from @franflight described how being back in the shelter after living as part of a family has traumatized the feline fur baby.

"Elle hasn't opened up to anybody," the onscreen text shared as Elle faced the corner and literally pasted herself against the kennel walls. "Going from a home environment to a shelter will do that to a cat."

The pretty kitty is unmotivated to participate in basic activities and continues to crawl further into her shell.

"Every day comes with new challenges for Elle," the story continued. "Tasks that used to be a part of her daily routine, she now struggles with. Tasks like eating. Grooming herself. Seeking affection. It's clear Elle isn't happy here."

The NAWS staff member was finally able to coax Elle out of her cage for the first time and held her on her lap for some much-needed affection. After a few moments, the sweet cat slowly let her guard down and leaned into the gentle pets.

"Today was a big day for Elle," the onscreen text shared. "Getting her out of her cage was tough, but It was needed for the both of us."

Elle Needs a Quiet Home

The fearful feline was recently returned from a family home and is seeking a calm, dog-free environment.

"Elle came to us after being relinquished for behaviorally marking around the home when the other cat in the home started to hiss at her," the caption revealed. "I believe that Elle’s next home should be quiet with no dogs, and with an experienced cat owner who has cats that are very calm, submissive, or docile as Elle has always been a shy and reserved girl."

Maine Coon Mom Cuddles Her Tiny Kittens Like a Human Parent and It's Heart-Melting

Thu, 06/04/2026 - 9:55am

Bringing a baby into the world comes with a certain pride that can't be easily explained. You want to show off the little miracle to any and everyone you know because they're *that* precious.

That new parent feeling isn't only a human thing. New Maine Coon mom, Gaia, is practically beaming when her human visits the tiny crew—and the way she cuddles them while "introducing" each of the seven babies is the sweetest thing.

Giving birth to seven babies is a feat in and of itself, but Gaia goes above and beyond by being such a proud mom who loves showing off her new brood! Sure, a couple of the Maine Coon kittens may have gone for a roller coaster ride while Mom rolled around on them, but it's all part of the cuteness!

"She gets a little overexcited to show them off when we come hang out with them!" the caption says in part. As a first-time mom who's obsessed with what she created, she's earned it. Those adorable kittens couldn't be in better paws!

Gaia isn't the only one crushing this mom thing. Another Maine Coon named Athena welcomed 10(!) beautiful kittens into the world back in February.

They're a whole lot bigger now, but the perfect "orange sampler pack" is too cute with each kitty's wobbly ways. There's nothing like the newborn stage, whether they're human or cats—they're purrfect!

♬ This is my family - STEEERLING Why Mother Cats Keep Their Kittens Close at First

Any parent knows the importance of protecting the little ones however they can, and for cats, instincts tell them that keeping the kittens close helps make sure they survive. As newborns without hearing or sight, kittens can't thermoregulate or fight off intruders, so Mom holds them close to prevent hypothermia and to protect them from predators.

Babies of every species need constant care and nourishment to grow up healthy and happy. Staying with Mom means getting fed as needed, learning cool things about the world, and forming a bond unlike any other.

TLDR: Moms just know how to do it, and Gaia's doing an amazing job!

Dog Mom Goes Viral for the Sweet Way She Soothes Her Pit Bull

Thu, 06/04/2026 - 9:09am

There is a pit bull being carried in his mom's arms right now. Bluey is playing in the background. Everything is fine.

The TikTok from @reignstormpit shows a pit bull mom doing what only real dog moms understand: carrying her pit bull on her shoulder to comfort him while gently bouncing him and playing Bluey for all of her pups.

"Only Real Dog Moms Understand This 🐾🤍" the caption reads.

She's right. Only those of us who’ve been in the trenches with pups really get the lengths you’d go to comfort our fur babies.

The video is simple, sweet and completely perfect. She carries him and she bounces him with that gentle rhythmic motion every parent knows works on their baby - of all kinds. Bluey plays softly in the background. And he sits in her arms with his head on her shoulder. This is exactly where he was always meant to be.

Which it is.

This isn't just carrying a dog to carry a dog. This is knowing your pit bull needs Bluey specifically and making sure Bluey is on. This is soothing your baby the way only you know how. This is love expressed in the most precise and specific way possible.

Related: Chihuahua Goes Viral Refusing to Nap After Seeing a Suitcase—He's Not Being Left Behind

The fans knew exactly the vibe being caught:

"He is exactly where he wanna be 🤣"

"Spoiled rotten sitting up there like yea 🤣🤣❤️❤️"

"Okay I just wanted to make sure I'm not the only dog mom that leaves the tv on for my 4 leg daughter 🩷"

"Yesss my boo lovesss Bluey I thought it was just because she was a baby 😭"

That last comment answered a question we’d all been wondering. Do we all play Bluey for our dogs? I do. Dog moms everywhere confirm they do too.

But there is actually science behind why this video resonates so deeply.

Why Dog Moms Carry Their Dogs Like Babies and Why Bluey Actually Works

The National Canine Research Council has documented this very clearly. Dogs activate the same deep caregiving responses in humans that children do, including the instinct to hold, bounce, soothe and protect. When this dog mama carries her pittie on her shoulder and bounces him gently she is not being silly or doing too much. She’s responding to a genuine biological pull toward nurturing something in her care. He needs comfort. She provides it. This method just happens to work perfectly on babies too.

As for Bluey? Gentle consistent audio with warm tones and predictable rhythms can greatly reduce anxiety in dogs. Bluey is slow-paced, warmly voiced and emotionally gentle. For pups who grow up hearing it regularly it becomes a comfort sound, something familiar and safe that signals everything is going fine at home.

His mom figured this out on her own.

Some dog moms simply know things. This is one of those things.

He is exactly where he wants to be. And, she is exactly who he needs. That is her whole heart right there on her shoulder.

Nobody Will Adopt These Sweet Kitten Sisters, and the Internet Is Devastated

Thu, 06/04/2026 - 8:36am

While it's true that it's typically easier to find homes for kittens than older cats, for these kitten sisters, that hasn't been the case. They've been passed over more than once, long after the other kittens in their rescue were adopted, and after their last two potential adoptions fell through, their foster mom is getting desperate.

After Karen at Karen's Cat Community took to TikTok to share Coco and Bella's story, everyone is heartbroken that these sweet babies are still homeless.

@karenscatcommunity

These kittens need a new home, but the RIGHT home, could it be you. Adoption fee and home checks apply. Based in Mid Wales We travel for the right homes. Lauren is still going through enquiries at the moment but honestly, I've never known two kittens that are so difficult to rehome. #cats #catlovers #longhairedcats #adoptdontshop

♬ Soft Morning Air - Sonovent

When Karen, who is based in the UK, first shared the story, it was day 19 of trying to find Bella and Coco their forever homes, and four days have passed since then. They were originally up for sale on social media for just £15 each, which is horrifying — they're lucky Karen found them first.

After having full health screenings, it's clear that Bella and Coco are in good health, and they've both been spayed. And despite their sad start to life, they are both such playful, happy cats.

They also both have gorgeous coats, but someone cut chunks out of poor Coco's fur likely because it was matted, making the situation all the more devastating. And imagining what the kittens must have been through, Coco and Bella deserve so much more than this.

The internet is in total disbelief that these kittens haven't been snatched up yet.

"They’re beautiful babies! Hope they have a happy, safe, & fur ever home soon," one commenter wrote.

Some shared that they wished they could adopt the kittens, and others urged everyone watching to do the right thing and give these girls a home. "Come on guys there has to be someone out there," one user wrote.

Why Don't Bonded Pairs Get Adopted?

Bonded pairs are cats like Bella and Coco. They don't necessarily have to be related like these kittens are. A bonded pair is any two cats who have formed a close, emotional attachment to each other.

But because bonded pairs are recommended to be adopted together, it's often harder to find their forever homes. According to VCA Animal Hospital, people are often hesitant to adopt bonded pairs because it's obviously a bigger time and financial commitment to adopt two cats instead of one, but it really is better for them to end up in the same home. If cats who are part of a bonded pair are separated, it can cause a lot of anxiety for them.

If you're interested in finding out if Coco and Bella are the right fit for your family and are located in the UK, you can reach out to Karen's Cat Community via the contact form here.

Even if you're not local to these kittens, you can still help them find the right home by sharing the video and interacting with Karen's post, which will give it a boost on TikTok. My fingers are crossed that we get a happy update on Bella and Coco soon!

Tiny Poodle Loses His Entire Mind When the Doggie Daycare Bus Finally Arrives

Thu, 06/04/2026 - 8:32am

Some dogs like daycare. And then there is Toby. Apparently, he's "been ready since 6 AM" and needs zero coaxing to make his way to the door when the time arrives. He sprints down the hall, impatiently enters and exits the elevator, and waits with his tiny snout pressed against the glass door for his beloved pink bus to appear. And the moment it does, this petite poodle completely loses it in the most joyful, unhinged, absolutely delightful way possible — and his little scream will stay with you all day.

@kwpawtrips

The bus cannot come fast enough for Toby 🚌🩷 #pawtrips #dog #dogs #dogbus #teacuppoodle

And he's off. The door opens, and there is absolutely no holding him back. As one viewer accurately relays, "No bye. No kiss. Just wind."

"The way he gets on the bus, saying 'what’s up' to his pup friends," jokes another fan. It really is the cutest.

"I watched this an unhealthy amount of times," confesses another. Yep. Toby is totally irresistible.

Why Some Dogs Absolutely Love Doggie Daycare

Now, Toby is the best-case scenario for sending your dog to daycare. His enthusiasm is unprecedented and very infectious. He clearly relishes whatever magic-making happens there. And as it turns out, there's a really good reason for that.

Dogs are highly social creatures, and socializing them is genuinely fundamental to their well-being. Isolation can be psychologically challenging in ways that go well beyond simple boredom. Daycare, for the right dog, isn't a luxury. It's actually meeting a pretty deep biological need.

Proponents believe the benefits of daycare are real, and they add up quickly. Dogs who go regularly tend to show improvements in confidence, impulse control, and social skills. Shy or anxious dogs often show the most dramatic transformations — the predictable routine and positive experiences create a safe space where fears gradually dissolve. For dogs who struggle with separation anxiety especially, having somewhere engaging and social to be while their owners are at work can make a meaningful change in their overall stress levels.

And then there's the friendship factor. Regular daycare dogs often form lasting bonds with their playmates, showing visible excitement (like Toby) when they reunite. For dogs in single-pet households, those consistent connections can be particularly valuable – and touching.

And best of all: a well-exercised, socially satisfied dog usually means a much more peaceful evening at home. Delighted squealing aside, of course.

Shelter Puppy Fearfully Hides Under Bed After Being Returned From Adoption, and It's Heartbreaking

Thu, 06/04/2026 - 7:10am

Dogs adopted from shelters are sometimes returned for various reasons, including temperament, energy level, or incompatibility. The transition from shelter to home and back to shelter can be traumatic for a canine and sometimes causes them to emotionally shut down.

Jalapeño the puppy was adopted from the Maui Humane Society, but unfortunately was brought back. The precious pup went into an automatic fearful state of mind upon his return to the shelter.

@cassondrachristman

3 month old Jalapeño is waiting at Maui humane Society. So grateful to the amazing humane enforcement officers on Molokai who saved him and his siblings and countless other pups. Once they fly over to Maui they are ready to start their new life, that’s what jalapeño thought he had. Hopefully this weekend will bring him his true forever Come in and meet him at Maui humane society 💙 #fyp #maui #hawaiitiktok #adoptdontshop #shelterdog

♬ crying into a pillow - i don't like mirrors

The TikTok from @cassondrachristman shared Jalapeño's story and showed how he is coping with being back at the shelter.

"I went to bring puppy Jalapeño a bed today but his kennel was empty," the onscreen text read as the camera panned over the dogless cage. "Then I saw little white paws under the bed."

The frightened fur baby felt he had to hide to be safe. Jalapeño was traumatized by his return to the shelter environment after being in a home for almost 3 weeks.

"He was returned from adoption yesterday after 20 days," the story continued. "He's only 3 months old. He was so scared, he was hiding under the bed."

The shelter staff member was able to coax Jalapeño out, where he actually leaned into her gentle pets.

Jalapeño was found in April along with his five puppy siblings on the side of the road on Molokai. The tumult of abandonment and being returned after adoption has been overwhelming for the sweet pup.

How Is Jalapeño Now?

Since puppies are so vulnerable and need time to build up their immune systems, they don't get the benefit of exploring or socializing until they are old enough to fight off illness and environmental elements. The confinement added to Jalapeño's stress and loneliness.

"Puppies at the shelter spend 24 hours a day in their kennel," the text explained. "They are too young to walk on the ground in public places. So now, after 20 days in a home, Jalapeño is alone in a loud, scary shelter."

The TikTok post was recently updated with wonderful news: Jalapeño was adopted! The canine cutie finally got his forever family and won't have to spend any more time in the kennel.

However, his brother Chase is still waiting at the shelter and hoping for his forever home. Hopefully, he will get the same happy ending as Jalapeño.

8 Small Habits That Bring You and Your Dog Closer, According to a Trainer

Thu, 06/04/2026 - 6:10am

Bonding with your dog doesn't happen over night—it develops slowly through everyday interactions. For dog owners, these daily habits shape trust, comfort and emotional connection over time. So, if you're a new pet parent, how can you get closer with your furbaby? To help you find out, we rounded up 8 small habbits that bring you and your dog closer, according to a trainer.

“A strong bond with your dog usually isn’t built through one giant moment,” says Alexandra Bassett, CPDT-KA, lead dog trainer at Dog Savvy Positive Dog Training. “It’s built through hundreds of tiny interactions that happen every single day.”

Dogs learn who feels safe, predictable, and rewarding to be around through these consistent experiences. “The little things matter because dogs are constantly forming associations based on everyday experiences,” Bassett explains. “It’s less about ‘How do I make my dog love me?’ and more about ‘How do I become someone my dog feels good around?’”

That mindset shift of focusing on tiny positive daily interactions can make a meaningful difference in your overall relationship with your dog. Even with busy schedules, building a strong bond doesn’t require perfection or constant effort. Instead, it’s about simple habits that fit naturally into your daily routine and help strengthen your connection over time.

8 Everyday Habits That Help You Feel Closer to Your Dog

You may be surprised what experts say are some of the easiest ways you can connect with your pooch!

Provide Comfort with a Predictable Routine

Dogs feel most secure when life is predictable. That's why one dog training tip that can instantly improve how close you and your pup are can come down to having a consistent daily routine for them. This helps them understand what to expect each day and creates a sense of calm and stability for them.

“Dogs are often ‘stuck at home’ most of the day, so things like mealtimes, playtime and walks become the highlight of their day,” says Bassett.

When dogs know what’s coming next, they tend to feel more relaxed and confident. “Dogs thrive on predictability,” Bassett explains. “Knowing when meals, walks, playtime, naps and bedtime happen helps them feel more secure.”

That sense of safety often shows up in a stronger bond with their humans. When a dog feels calm and understood, they’re more likely to be affectionate, engaged and emotionally connected in everyday life.

Build Trust With Soft Eye Contact

Gentle eye contact can be a quiet but powerful way to make your relationship better with your furbaby, as it builds trust and emotional connection.

“Unlike hard staring, which can feel threatening in dog language, soft, relaxed, loving eye contact when you are sharing space,” says Bassett.

Many dogs naturally check in with people they trust through soft glances, nudges, and quiet moments of attention. These small exchanges, especially when paired with gentle petting, can help strengthen your connection and reinforce feelings of safety and comfort between you and your dog.

Bond While Playing

Another way to deepen your bond with your dog? Play with them! According to Basset, this is one of the fastest ways you can connect with your pup.

“Not just throwing a ball endlessly while scrolling your phone, but interactive play where you’re truly involved together is the way to go,” she explains. “Things like tug, chase games, fetch, training games like hide-and-seek and flirt pole games can make you feel exciting and rewarding to be around for your dog.”

Create Connection Through Grooming

If you want to be closer to your dog, try grooming them. It's something simple that any pet parent can do.

“Calm grooming sessions can become a really soothing bonding ritual,” Bassett says. “Things like brushing, ear rubs, gentle massage, wiping paws or helping remove burrs and tangles can create feelings of comfort, safety and trust when done slowly and respectfully.”

According to Bassett, many dogs love these moments of calm attention. “The key is making sure your dog actually enjoys the experience and isn’t being restrained or overwhelmed in a way that feels stressful to them,” she adds. "If your pup has trouble staying stil, try pairing grooming with a positive experience like lick mats."

Turn Training Into a Moment of Trust

Positive reinforcement training isn’t just about teaching commands, it’s about building understanding between you and your furry companion. When dogs are rewarded for good behavior, they begin to feel confident, safe and eager to engage.

“Positive reinforcement training helps dogs feel successful instead of confused or intimidated,” explains Bassett.

Over time, reward-based training strengthens communication and helps your dog see you as a source of clarity and safety. That shared understanding turns everyday training moments into small opportunities for connection. Therefore, when your dog feels understood, learning becomes easier and your bond naturally deepens.

Let Walks Bring You Closer to Your Dog

If you want to feel connected to your dog, walks can help with that. In fact, letting your dog lead your walk can be one of the simplest ways to build a stronger bond with them. That's where sniff walks come in. These walks allow your dog to stop, explore, and follow their nose, turning an everyday routine into a more meaningful shared experience.

“Scent is a dog's primary sense and how they collect data about the world around them, which is why sniff walks are incredibly enriching for dogs,” Bassett says. “When you allow your dog time to sniff and explore instead of constantly rushing them along, you become associated with freedom and good experiences instead of pressure, which can really strengthen your relationship.”

Talk to Your Dog Throughout the Day

Even if your dog doesn’t understand every word you say, they are highly attuned to your tone, energy and familiar phrases.

“Talking to your dog creates interaction and engagement throughout the day,” she says. “A lot of dogs seem comforted simply by hearing their person’s voice. And over time, many dogs learn tons of little phrases.”

For many dogs, hearing your voice helps them feel more connected and reassured. Those simple moments of communication, whether it’s casual talk, encouragement, or routine words, can quietly strengthen your bond over time.

Learn to Read Your Dog's Body Language

Your dog is always communicating through their body language. That's why learning how your dog talks and noticing it can make your relationship stronger.

"Noting and responding to things like lip licking, tail movement and play bows might be one of the biggest bonding tools of all,” Bassett says. “When people learn to notice and respond to those signals, dogs often become more trusting because they feel understood.”

These small daily habits may seem simple on their own, but together they shape something meaningful. Over time, they create a relationship built on trust, comfort and understanding.

And for many dog owners, that steady, everyday connection becomes one of the most rewarding parts of life with a dog.

8 Subtle Signs Your Cat May Be Frustrated

Thu, 06/04/2026 - 5:10am

We often peg cats as perpetually grumpy and standoffish. So, their frustrations can often get overlooked by pet parents since their communication style is different from how people express themselves. So, while there are many reasons your pet may be feeling annoyed, they don’t always show frustration in obvious ways. Therefore, when your cat is trying to tell you something through their body language, you might not even notice.

Cats often give subtle behavioral clues that something isn’t right. Learning to spot these signs can help you better understand your furry family member and help lift their mood. "It’s important to know if your cat is frustrated so that you can take steps to resolve the situation and help them feel more comfortable," Dr. Liza Cahn, DVM, a veterinarian at Embrace Pet Insurance says. "However, if not addressed, frustration can escalate into more serious stress-related behaviors or even aggression."

To help you avoid stress-induced escalation, Dr. Cahn shares eight subtle signs your cat is frustrated that you may miss. Once you start to notice the signs your cat is unhappy, you can make small changes to help them feel safe, supported and deeply cared for.

Related: 10 Signs Your Cat is Emotionally Attached to You, Says an Expert

Common Reasons Cats Get Mad Cats can be sutle about their emotions.

"Like people, cats may feel frustrated for many reasons," reports Dr. Cahn. "Common triggers include wanting something they cannot access—such as food, treats, entrance to a room, outdoor prey or attention—the presence of other animals in or around the home, boredom or lack of enrichment, anxiety, and unwanted restraint, handling or physical contact."

8 Signs Your Cat Is Frustrated

If you've ever wondered, "Is my cat frustrated?" you're not alone. Many pet parents are curious about how their furbabies feel. That's why Dr. Cahn is breaking down the specific behaviors that can reveal when your cat is feeling stressed, annoyed, or overwhelmed.

1. Purring

We often think purring is a sign that your cat loves you and is happy. It is, but it's also an often-missed flag of kitty frustration.

"Purring is notoriously hard to read because cats purr for many reasons, including as a self-soothing mechanism when they are anxious, frustrated, or in pain," Dr. Cahn says. "Keep an eye on your cat’s body language and context to help determine a happy purr from other types that may require intervention."

2. Tail Thumping

It's easy to think a cat is happily "wagging their tail" like a dog when they start thumping, lashing or flicking their tail. But Dr. Cahn says tail thumping is a cat's way of telling you that they are irritated, overstimulated or frustrated.

"For example, a cat may thump their tail when they are being petted for too long or watching prey they cannot reach.

3. Changes in Grooming Habbits

What's another sign your cat may be upset? While cats are notoriously hygienic little creatures, when they go above and beyond with the licking, it is not necessarily a sign of next-level great hygiene. It could be related to frustration-related stress. This is a condition known as psychogenic alopecia.

"Excessive licking and grooming is a sign that is easy to miss because grooming is such a normal cat behavior," Dr. Cahn reveals. "However, overgrooming can be associated with frustration, anxiety, self-soothing or medical causes such as parasites or allergies."

4. Meowing More Often

If your cat suddenly becomes chattier than usual, they may be trying to communicate frustration or unmet needs.

“Meowing is a vocalization that adult cats mostly use to communicate with humans, and it can be a sign of frustration when a cat wants something but can’t access it,” Dr. Cahn says.

This often happens in situations like closed doors, empty food bowls, seeing outdoor activity they can’t reach, or when they want more attention than they’re getting.

However, Dr. Cahn notes that excessive or unusual vocalization can also signal underlying health concerns, including pain, hyperthyroidism, cognitive dysfunction, urinary issues, or anxiety.

5. Displaying Flattened Ears

Take a look at your pet's ears. A cat’s ear position can be one of the clearest—but often missed—signals of how they’re feeling.

"Body language is one of the best ways for us to help interpret our cats’ emotions and comfort level," Dr. Cahn says. "A cat with flattened ears may be irritated, fearful or frustrated. On the other hand, relaxed cat body language typically involves a natural or forward-facing ear position and a tension-free body posture."

6. Dilated Pupils

One subtle sign of stress in cats can appear in their eyes—but it’s easy to miss without close observation.

“Dilated pupils may be associated with fear, pain, frustration, or arousal,” Dr. Cahn explains. “Because pupil size naturally changes with lighting and excitement, context is key.”

If the change doesn’t match the situation—or appears alongside other behavior shifts—it could be a quiet signal of stress or discomfort worth paying attention to.

7. Pacing

If your cat can’t seem to settle down, pacing may be a quiet sign of frustration or restlessness.

“A frustrated cat may pace near doors, windows, food areas, litter boxes, or people when they want something but can’t access it,” Dr. Cahn explains. “It may also indicate under-stimulation and a lack of outlets for natural behaviors like hunting, climbing, scratching, exploring, or social interaction.”

8. Avoiding you/people more than usual

If your cat suddenly starts keeping more distance, it may be more than just “being antisocial.”

"A frustrated cat may start avoiding people if interactions feel unpredictable, overwhelming or unrewarding," Dr. Cahn says. "For example, a cat who is frequently picked up, interrupted while resting, chased by children, or petted past their comfort limit may begin avoiding contact."

Dr. Cahn adds that changes in social behavior can also be an early sign of illness or physical discomfort.

What To Do If You Think Your Cat Is Frustrated

"If you suspect your cat is frustrated, first look at their routine and environment," Dr. Cahn says. "Frustration often occurs when a cat is motivated to do something but is blocked, interrupted, restrained or unable to get what they want or need."

Dr. Cahn suggests considering the five pillars of a healthy feline environment. They are:

  1. Create a safe place with hiding spots available to help your cat feel safe and comfortable.
  2. Make sure that there are plenty of resources available (especially in multicat homes) and that they are separated and easily accessible.
  3. Provide enrichment and outlets for your cat’s natural instincts, including scratching, hunting, play, and vertical perches.
  4. Stick to a consistent routine that includes predictable human interaction, play and physical touch if your cat desires it.
  5. Respect your cat’s sense of smell, which is much more sensitive than our own. Consider using pheromone sprays or diffusers. Avoid strong-scented perfumes or cleaning products.

Remember, if you're concerned about your cat, your vet is here to help both of you!

Doting Boxer Shares HIs Favorite Toy With Newborn Human and This Bond Is Unbreakable

Wed, 06/03/2026 - 9:50pm

Of all dog breeds, Boxers are among the most under appreciated family dogs. Notoriously protective, loving, and patient, Boxers may not have the same reputation as the ultimate family dog that Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers do, but when it comes to building relationships with their humans, this breed is all love.

One doting Boxer is giving the breed a good name after starring in a social media video taking TikTok by storm. In the video, Bruno the Boxer can be seen cozying up to his infant brother, Arthur.

While Arthur safely snoozes in his Pack 'n Play, Bruno sploots on the neighboring bed, putting himself at eye level with the sleeping baby. As the baby naps, Bruno wags his tail, waiting for his buddy to wake up. What happens next is a showcase of just how loving and patient this dog breed can be.

As Bruno quietly watches his human baby brother sleep, he places his favorite toy—a plush stuffie—next to Arthur's bed, the ultimate offering from a lifelong best friend.

More than a cute dog video, this social media post demonstrates the loving and gentle nature some dog breeds bring to their relationships with their newborn human siblings. Rather than acting territorial or impatient, this Boxer patiently and quietly waits for the baby to wake up, seemingly attuned to the infant's sleep schedule while offering up a toy that clearly means so much to him.

It's no wonder this sweet dog video quickly went viral, with more than 200,000 viewers liking the post on TikTok and nearly 30,000 people sharing the heartfelt clip with others.

Comments from emotional viewers ranged from being overwhelmed by Bruno's sweetness to becoming completely invested in this loving relationship in bloom.

“I can't do this today,” wrote one viewer.

Another added, “They're gonna have so much fun together.”

“Oh my heart,” commented another. “He's sharing his favorite stuffie. We don't deserve dogs.”

We may not deserve dogs, but we're certainly lucky to have them. Dogs really are humans' best friends.

Do Dogs Get Jealous Over Babies?

Yes, dogs can get jealous over babies, but it's a bit different from a child getting jealous of a new sibling.

First of all, dogs may just be perplexed if they have never interacted with or seen a human baby.

Babies have a new smell that pups don't know, and they don't really do much, unlike a child or adult, so that may be confusing to them.

Babies, at least at first, will also throw off the dog's routine. If they weren't brought into a house with children already, then this is a major life transition.

First of all, most likely their mom has been away for a few days, so they know something is up, and now she's carrying this weird thing around that makes odd noises.

The attention usually focused on them is displaced, so it's normal that they may exhibit attention-seeking behavior like barking or whining.

So, how do you deal with jealous behavior from a dog?

If your pooch is acting out like this Dachshund, inclusion is the first step.

Have your dog sit next to you when you feed the baby.

Make them part of the baby's goodnight routine.

Take the pup on walks with the baby.

If they associate this new human addition with positive things, they will be less jealous.

Redirecting their energy will help them regain emotional stability during this major transition period for dogs.

4 Persian Cats Have Completely Different Sleeping Spots and None of Them Make Sense

Wed, 06/03/2026 - 7:55pm

Cats are very sleepy creatures, and they spend a lot of time of the day catching quick naps, but they never seem to snooze just anywhere. Cats love strange places, and when you have more than one kitty in the house, they'll find a little extra strange places to catch some shut-eye.

In this video, we meet four very adorable Persian cats who are sprawled out, ready to sleep, but each has chosen a completely different spot, and none of them look comfortable. Take a look!

@goldenkittyfam

Shared on TikTok by @goldenkittyfam, the video shows four beautiful Persian cats—Willow, Rosie, Buns, and Blanche—who were ready for one of their many naps during the day. Cats sleep a lot, which every kitty parent knows, but in this clip, we learn something that might not be known by people who don't have more than one cat.

Cats love to sleep in weird but very specific places, and when they decide somewhere that works for them, that's where you'll find them during nap time.

In the comments, people were happy to see this group of cats have a good sleeping spot, even if none of them made sense. Some comments included, "OMG, 4 beautiful meows," "So cute," "Such a precious moment," and "I love it."

One person asked, "Do their fave spots change? Floof will pick a new spot every few months?" And they received an answer, with these cats' mom sharing, "Willow has had the favorite couch spot since I brought her home five years ago. Buns on the chair pillow started at the beginning of this year. The other two have loved their spots for a very long time! Where does Floofy love to sit right now??? Why Do Cats Sleep in Weird Spots?

These four Persian cats know what works for them to get great naps, and they're not afraid to park themselves there for some good shut-eye. If you have a cat, you'll probably notice they have a weird sleeping spot, too. And there's a reason for that.

According to VCA Animal Hospitals, cats sleep in strange places because it's part of their history, dating back to when they were in the wild. The site explains that although our well-loved house cats don't need to worry about anything dangerous sneaking up on them, they still sleep as if they do. That means high places, small places, and everything in between.

But if your kitty isn't sleeping in a weird, tight, or high place, like on a very specific couch cushion, spot on the floor, or weird perch, that's because they have to sleep a lot, and they want to sleep in a spot where they're sure they'll wake feeling rested.

And these four cats have found their spots and are happy to stick to them.

In fact, his eyes look so blue that a lot of commenters are asking if his eyes can truly be this blue. According to what his mom wrote in a comment, the answer is yes — even though it's very rare for black cats to have blue eyes.

His eyes aren't the only thing that makes Tuesday unique, though; he also has Dwarfism. He's fully grown and still has a tiny body (but a huge personality to make up for it).

What Is a Dwarf Cat?

You might not have heard of Dwarf cats until Tuesday, but you probably have heard of Munchkin cats, or cats who have a genetic mutation that leads to having very short legs.

Cats with dwarfism are a bit different, though. These cats have a genetic disorder known as achondroplasia, which means that not only do they have short legs, but they have other differences including multiple health issues, often with their brains and hearts.

What to Know Before Adopting a Dwarf Cat

It's impossible to look at Tuesday and not want a cat just like him in your family. But if you ever do end up adopting a Dwarf cat, there are a few things you should be aware of first.

Their medical needs are going to be a big factor when it comes to raising your Dwarf cat. You should be prepared to cover more medical bills than a typical cat might incur, and they may end up having special needs that require more care from you as their human.

They may also struggle with mobility because of their short legs, so Dwarf cats may need assistance jumping on and off of higher surfaces (and sometimes, stairs can be a challenge).

They will shower you with love and cuddles in the way only a cat can, though, which is a huge upside.

And if they're anything like Tuesday, they will come with a playful personality and plenty of attitude. I bet there's never a dull moment with that gorgeous boy around!
