These Cats Are Basically the Feline Versions of ‘Works Smarter’ vs. ‘Works Harder’
Nothing is funnier than witnessing the dynamic between pet siblings. Often, yes, they're affectionate, but sometimes you can downright see the judgement.
@jasperandtheorange on TikTok is an account dedicated to sharing the antics between Jasper, a grey cat, and Orange, an orange calico, at their home. Predominantly, they share the difference between the two cats and their arch nemesis: the hallway gate.
@jasperandtheorangeBoth smart though #orangecatbehavior #orangecat #smartcat #funnycat #catsoftiktok
♬ original sound - random.shii089Where Jasper is more polite and works a little "smarter" per se, Orange prefers to launch himself fully over the gate in the "harder" version of events. While both do technically accomplish their goal of making it to the other side (literally) it is indisputably hilarious to see the different methods to the madness each cat takes. Whatever you want to call it, Athletic vs. Academic, Brains vs. Brawn, the cats are so funny in accomplishing their simple goal in such different ways.
How To Tell if Your Pet is SmartAside from watching them interact with the world and seeing their adaptability and reactions to things, there are several ways to gauge intelligence in your animals. Pets who pick up new commands and tricks are usually on the smarter side, and learning routines and behaving accordingly is another sign you can watch for. "Smart" animals also typically have excellent memories and even pattern recognition that you, the human, should be able to see.
If you're curious, there are little games you can play with your pets to see how smart they may be in actuality. Puzzle toys, hiding treats, and even custom "only to them" tricks can help you discern how smart your furry friend really is.
At the end of the day, it doesn't REALLY matter how "smart" your pet is, just that it's healthy, happy, and loved. And able to get over or through a gate when need be. That's pretty critical, too.

Aldi's $7 Handy Pet Essential Solves a Problem Every Dog Parent Knows
Few things can ruin a summer adventure faster than realizing your dog is thirsty, and you forgot a water bowl.
Summer walks are great for burning off extra energy, but if your dog is drinking from puddles instead of a water bowl, you have a problem.

Whether you're hiking a trail, exploring a new town, or spending the afternoon at the park, hydration is just as important for dogs as it is for people.
Heart to Tail Gray Pet Travel Bottle, $6.99 at AldiTwenty minutes into your summer walk, you realize the pavement is warm, the sun is doing its thing, and your dog has slowed down. Your dog sees a puddle and goes to drink from it. The puddle is not clean, but your dog does not care.
The Heart to Tail Pet Travel Bottle at Aldi can hold up to 22 ounces of water. That will not help your dog climb a mountain trail. But it can make it easier to hydrate wherever your adventures take you.
On a hot summer day, this bottle makes it one less thing to worry about. Available in beige or gray, the collapsible design makes it easy to transport.

Signs Your Dog Needs WaterDogs do not make it obvious they need water. The early signs are easy to miss if you do not know what to look for. Pay attention to excessive panting, a dry nose, sticky gums, reduced energy and lagging behind during activities they normally enjoy.
Your dog will also seek shade more often and even stop during a walk. If you notice signs such as sunken eyes and a loss of interest in walking, you should provide water immediately.
Small Steps Can Prevent DehydrationThe best approach is prevention. Offer water regularly instead of waiting until your dog appears thirsty. Take more breaks during hot weather. Seek shaded areas whenever possible and avoid strenuous exercise during the hottest part of the day.
If your dog shows signs of overheating, move them to a cooler area and provide water immediately. The travel bottle from Aldi at roughly $6 is low enough that you pick it up without overthinking.
Compact enough to clip to a bag or drop into a hiking pack, this practical bottle solves a real problem. Your dog will have access to fresh water at all times. And that is the least you can do for your furry companion.

Professional Soccer Game Briefly Interrupted by a Dog Who Was, Frankly, the Best Player on the Field
One second, it was a professional soccer match — the next, a very athletic, very determined dog had sprinted onto the pitch, stolen the ball, and turned an entire stadium into his personal playground. The announcers started chanting "olé," while security struggled unsuccessfully to catch the agile culprit.
Finally, one of the players managed to detain the dog and reclaim the ball before the joyful animal was led away. He's likely fielding offers from teams as we speak.
View this post on Instagram"How great is this? Just a little reminder of how beautiful they are. They just wanna love us. Play with us. Hang out with us," gushed one viewer in the comments.
Others were impressed by his baller skills:
"To be FAIR.. the good boy, never used his hands or committed a foul."
"Look how he protects the ball with his body."
His footwork was unmatched. His contract demands are still unknown.
The Science Behind Why Dogs Can't Resist Chasing — and Stealing — a BallAccording to this article in the New York Times, the instinct to chase and carry a ball is rooted in something ancient: the primeval prey-carrying behavior of dogs' wild ancestors, who would take their kill back to the den to share or hoard. That soccer ball wasn't a soccer ball to him. It was dinner. And he had absolutely no intention of giving it up.
Some breeds are more wired for this than others — retrievers and spaniels, for example, have been selectively bred over centuries specifically for their retrieving instincts. But here's the part that might genuinely surprise you: Researchers have suggested that for some dogs, ball-chasing can become a true chemical addiction. The excitement of the chase triggers a rush of adrenaline that mimics the hormonal high of an actual hunt. Once that feeling kicks in, good luck getting the ball back.
A 2025 study published in Scientific Reports also found that toy-obsessed dogs behave similarly to humans with behavioral addictions like gambling and internet gaming. Two dogs in the study became so fixated on accessing their toys that they destroyed the box the researchers had locked them in. The lead researcher noted it was "a striking example of how far some dogs were willing to go to access the object of their desire." In other words — that soccer dog was never giving up the ball.
Which explains everything about what happened on that field. He was completely biochemically in the zone — and no amount of security personnel was going to interrupt that.

Rescued Seal Nervously Practices Swimming Before Accomplishing One Major Milestone
Every parent can relate to the anxiety that comes with teaching our little ones to swim, even pet parents. Despite how long it takes our babies, human and animal, to take to the water, each lesson is a major milestone. For a rescue seal pup named Matcha, learning to swim doesn't come naturally. Thankfully, his expert handlers are on hand for careful swim lessons and celebrations along the way.
In a video taking TikTok by storm, the sweet little seal pup can be seen tentatively approaching the side of the pool at his rescue center. This little one is learning to swim with the same nervousness and anxiety that many human children face. Not all seals are born with an immediate instinct to swim, but Matcha is one brave seal pup.
@sealcentrepieterburenMatcha’s first time swimming at our centre! 🍵🦭 Yesterday was a big moment: Matcha’s very first swim at our rescue centre. And he did so well! 💦 He even managed to climb out of the pool all by himself. From now on, we’ll practise a little every day so that Matcha can soon swim all on his own with confidence 🥰 #matcha #sealpup #seals #sealcentre #wec
♬ som original - anix nerd1The Seal Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre in the Netherlands writes:
“Yesterday marked a significant milestone for Matcha, our resident seal pup, as he experienced his very first swim at our rescue centre. The young seal pup showed remarkable bravery and aptitude during this important step in his rehabilitation. Matcha not only entered the pool but also demonstrated impressive independence by successfully climbing out on his own.”
An impressive 2.5 million viewers liked the post and are following Matcha's swim lessons. Nearly 400,000 viewers shared the video, and many rushed to the comment section, joking about the nervous seal pup.
“Matcha does NOT want to be a seal,” one quipped.
Another added, “Does Matcha know they are a seal?”

♬ Creme Brulee - OneulMatcha likely knows he's a seal, but not all seals are born with expert swimming skills. Most are born with an instinct to kick and float, but moving through the water confidently isn't always innate.
Just like humans, seals practice swimming in shallow water, building stamina and learning how to breathe efficiently while in the water. They also need to learn how to navigate currents and develop hunting skills as they grow. No wonder Matcha is nervous with so much to learn.
Congratulations, Matcha. You climbed out of the pool on your own. In no time, you'll be swimming with confidence.

Owl Spotted Sitting on a Live Snake in Arizona Is an Unbothered King
An Arizona snake found itself at the center of an unusual wildlife encounter when a completely unbothered Owl perched itself on top of the slithering serpent. A picture of surprisingly peaceful coexistence, the Owl appeared neither aggressive nor fearful of the snake.
The snake, on the other hand, might not have felt so relaxed.
Check out this unusual video of the “unbothered” Owl perched atop a water treatment facility. The Owl couldn't look more relaxed, sunbathing and taking in the sights.

Owl Perched on Snake Captivates Social Media @peta.baby.time0Horned owl’s eyes are cute and fierce at the same time 🦉#greathornedowl #owl #cuteanimals #gentle #friendly
♬ original sound - peta.baby.timeOpportunistic hunters by nature, Owls may not rely on snakes as their primary source of food, but they are known to swiftly consume them. Here, however, this Owl seems more interested in having a sunbathing companion than its next meal.
The video captures the unexpected interactions that can happen in nature, where even predators and prey can sometimes peacefully coexist without issue.
It's no surprise this wildlife video is taking TikTok by storm. More than 100,000 people have liked the video, which has been shared over 20,000 times.
For some viewers, the interaction between the Owl and snake symbolizes something bigger.
“For anyone doubting the spiritual meaning here it is, Owls are tied to insight, intuition, and seeing what others miss. Snakes can symbolize temptation, hidden motives, fear, or transformation. The Owl above the snake can represent clarity rising above manipulation or confusion,” wrote one commenter.
Another added, “I felt this, it's more spiritual to me than you know....”
“This feels symbolic,” observed one more.
Another commenter even referenced Greek mythology while discussing the video, writing, “In ancient mythologies—such as the legends of the Greek goddess Athena—both the Owl and the snake are sacred emblems of wisdom, intelligence, and divine protection. Embracing the energy of both animals encourages you to trust your intuition, seek hidden knowledge, and undergo personal transformation.”
No matter the Owl's motivation, we agree this interaction between an Owl and a snake is pretty cool.

This Shelter Pup’s Tiny Body and Wiggle Tail Have the Internet Guessing Her Rare Breed Mix
Some rescue dogs are so uniquely adorable that people immediately start trying to figure out what breeds could possibly make them look that way. Some may have the look of a Chihuahuabut a coat that’s not typical for the breed, or an interestingly small Dachshund who wasn’t what you would expect.
In this video, we meet a cute shelter puppy who has a tiny body and a very wiggly tail. She’s cute as all could be, but she’s got everyone trying to guess the rare breed mix she is. Take a look!
@4evertailsIt should be illegal to not give me treats. They call me Sherry. I’m one of the chunkiest beagles you’ll ever meet with a nose that never stops working and a tail that reaches full speed anytime the bum scratches start. My owner unfortunately passed away, and now I’m looking for a new place to call home. Until then, I’ll be outside conducting backyard sniff patrols and using my little howl bark to remind you I absolutely deserve another treat. And trust me… I usually get it. 🐾 Available @Chicago Canine Rescue
♬ Move Your Feet - Junior SeniorTikTok user Scott (@4evertails) shared a video of a very unique dog named Sherry, who is incredibly cute but a little confusing, because no one seems to know what breed she is.
In the clip, Sherry is very excited to bounce and rub on someone; she's very happy, and we learn more about her as the clips change. She has a very interesting look to her—the face of a Beagle, some spots on her coat like a Cattle Dog, but the tail, butt, and wiggle like a Corgi.

In the comments, people had a lot of guesses about the pup's breed and just compliments for her in general.
One person wrote, "She’s honestly ridiculously adorable. Commenting so that once she is in her forever home with her very lucky people, I will know."
Another shared, "Finally some Beagle love!!!! My cousins have fostered senior Beagles longer than I’ve been alive!! They’re the sweetest babies ever!"
Someone else added, "So cute. I think she's mixed with a Cattle Dog for the spots and a more compact body."
Other comments included, "She’s gotta be mixed with Corgi," "Surely she is already adopted. She's perfect!" "Ohhhh, she’s the cutest little potato," "Is her name Sweet Potato?? Cuz it should be," "She’s absolutely beautiful, and you can tell she’s a Velcro doggy," and "She is the most adorable chunkster ever!"

Do You Need To Know Your Dog's Mix?Sherry might be a mystery in what her exact mix is, but according to experts, that's not really a big deal.
Trupanion explains that it's not really necessary to know your dog's true genetic makeup for anything other than making some guesses about how big they'll be when they're fully grown. It's also nice to know which typical health issues might show up in certain dog breeds compared to others.
The site explains that these dogs are a "wonderful blend" of different breeds when their pedigrees are unknown, and that there are some great benefits. With their unique and diverse blends, mixed dogs come in all sizes, shapes, temperaments, and qualities, making them an "appealing choice" for people looking to add a puppy to the family.
Since you don't know the mix, you'll have to determine your dog's exercise and grooming needs based on the pup rather than the typical needs of a specific breed. And your veterinarian can help, too.

Meet Jip Jip. He's a French Bulldog. He has needs. The needs are booty smacks. There will be screaming until he gets them.
Jip Jip has his dog dad completely and utterly wrapped around his tiny furry paw, and honestly, we respect it. This little Frenchie has figured out the exact formula for getting what he wants, which is booty smacks, delivered promptly, no substitutions, no negotiations, and absolutely no funny business. His dog dad can be heard in the viral French Bulldog video saying, "Come on, now, no butt smacks, come on..." and the butt smacks happened. They always happen. Jip Jip wins every time, and the caption on the TikTok says it all: "Try explaining this to the dog walker."

♬ original sound - Jip Jip The Talking FrenchieTikTok user @ipetjaxon shared the hilarious clip, and it quickly became obvious that Jip Jip isn't a dog who believes in subtle communication.
While some pups quietly sit and wait for attention, Jip Jip has apparently developed a much more direct strategy. He knows exactly what he wants, and he's determined to make sure everyone around him understands the assignment.

Viewers were cracking up at how he made his demands.
One person joked, "We think he is making it clear what he wants."
That seems like a fair assessment.
There isn't much room for interpretation here. He has a goal, and that goal involves somebody immediately getting to work on the booty smacks.
Another commenter perfectly summed up the situation by writing, "It ain't gonna pat itself."
Again, hard to argue with the logic.
The video also struck a chord with people who have spent time caring for other people's pets and have learned that every dog comes with their own wonderfully strange quirks.
"As a dog sitter, it wouldn't even crack my top 10. Y'all are raising a bunch of little weirdos, and I love it!" one viewer wrote.
Honestly, that's one of the best things about dogs. Just when you think you've seen every possible personality trait, another pooch comes along and develops a very passionate interest in something completely unexpected.
A former dog sitter also chimed in with, "As a former dog sitter. Just show me the video. Nothing further will be needed, and will bring me joy to no end."
Jip Jip may not be interested in treats, toys, or long philosophical discussions. He has one request, and he's sticking to it.
Why Do Some Dogs Love Butt Scratches? @ipetjaxonAh…Just a normal weekend… #frenchbulldog #talkingdog #funnydog #doglovers
♬ original sound - Jip Jip The Talking FrenchieMany dogs enjoy scratches and pats around their lower back and hindquarters because those areas can be difficult for them to reach on their own.
Dogs May Seek Out Scratches Because:• It feels good.
• It helps relieve minor itching.
• It gets attention from their favorite humans.
• It reinforces bonding and social interaction.
Every dog has different preferences, but some become very enthusiastic about making sure their humans know exactly where the scratches should go.

Cat Mom Creates the Ultimate Cat Room—and What Her Kitties Do Next Is Hilarious
At the end of the day, our pets are always surprising us with their tastes.
We see a hilarious example of that in a funny cat video where a mom tries to give her three cats the ultimate cat room, but they have other plans.
What these cats do next is so absolutely relatable to all cat parents and comic gold.
@dontstopmeowingAnywhere but the cat room 😂 #fyp #foryou #foryoupage
♬ Sogni ancora - Piero PiccioniThat cat room is so stylish and beautiful (and full of great kitty room ideas), with many fun activities for cats, including a wall-climbing staircase, a jungle gym, and very comfy pillow beds and a tent, yet these three kitties completely ignore their cat furniture.
Instead, they hang out in a fruit bowl in the kitchen, a basket in the bathroom, and in a baby's bassinet.
This is peak feline behavior!
Related: 2 Obsessed Cats Keep Taking Turns Sleeping in Baby’s Bassinet
Why Cats Never Use Furniture the Way We Expect Them ToSo why, even though these cats were given the ultimate dream room full of things to play with, sleep in, and climb on, do they choose small bowls, baskets, and baby furniture?
Well, a lot of it comes down to the nature of felines.
Cats prioritize familiar scents as well as safe spaces over novelty (even when the novelty is an expensive cat toy or bed).
They don't know that all those jungle gyms and steps are designed for their bodies and skills and that those beds are quite comfy.
They do know that a cozy box or fruit bowl is safe and secure, and it's in an area where their beloved humans are.
Kitties also love the warmth and insulation a box provides (like we see with the second cat, who sits in the box on the back of the toilet).
It does take cats a while to warm up to new things, so hopefully, they do start using the dream cat room soon, but they know their first love will always be the bowl, the toilet box, and the baby's furniture.

Source:Wild Raccoon Rings Doorbell at 1:00am for a Snack Like He's at an All-Night Buffet
When you establish yourself as the cool house with all of the snacks, you can't be too surprised when the neighbors hold you to it!
Bradlea Buehler (who uses her same name on social media, including TikTok) shared hilarious Ring cam footage of a neighborhood raccoon who came by looking for a snack late at night. The little critter gets up close and personal in the footage, and the outcome is absolutely hysterical.
@bradlea.buehlerListen.. I was feeding the stray cats, the raccoon just decided to capitalize on that and now he’s SNITCHING bc I missed a night?! 😭 #justagirl #racoon #help #wildlife #cats
♬ Stealthy mischief(1088178) - KBYSAccording to Buehler's caption, she had been feeding the stray cats in her neighborhood and the raccoon figured out how to capitalize on the delicious situation. However when she missed a night of feedings, the raccoon showed up looking for its late night dinner. In other videos it's clear Buehler is quite the animal lover, so the interaction was probably somewhat of a dream for her. A very bossy, but funny dream.
Should You Feed Wildlife?Overwhelmingly, the consensus from professionals is that no, people should not be feeding wildlife. Conditioning wild animals to rely on humans for food can be very detrimental to their necessary survival skills. It can also lead to negative or even aggressive interactions with the animals involved, which is very dangerous for their safety and well being.
Even though raccoons are very cute and it can seem fun to feed them, experts typically agree that it has more potential for harm than good. If you can't avoid it or if raccoons are finding themselves in food you're leaving out for other creatures (like outdoor cats, for example) it's best to maintain distance, never make direct contact, scatter the food around so it's not associated too closely with your home, and do not establish any sort of schedule that they could get used to.

Cat Gives Mom All His Opinions After She Dares to Leave for a Few Days
Even though cats have a reputation for being independent creatures, if you've ever been lucky to have one in your family, you know that they still form bonds with their favorite humans. If you get in a cat's good graces, they will love you (and want to cuddle you) forever, and yes, they will even miss you when you're gone.
The Scottish Fold cat in the TikTok video below is extra good at communicating with his mom thanks to his expertise in using talking buttons, and he did not hold back when it came to letting her know exactly how he felt about her being gone for a few days.
@puffindoestricksAll the BIG feels! I feel so badly that I had to leave for a long weekend. Puffin has opinions! #talkingcat #scottishfold #scottish #fluentpet #scottishfoldcat
♬ Sad song by piano and violin(886018) - NOVAHere, we can see Puffin sitting with his back to his mom after she came back from being out of town for a wedding, and though he does give her a bit of the silent treatment at first, his opinions then all come tumbling out.
Let's just say I'm glad I'm not Puffin's mom in that moment that he pressed the button for "mad" and glared at her. Ouch!
No matter how much she apologized, he just kept hitting that "mad" button. I've never met a cat who knows how to guilt trip someone quite this effectively. This is a talent, Puffin.

Do Cats Miss Their Humans When They're Gone? For the most part, dogs seem to get all the credit when it comes to being welcoming committees for their humans, but in my experience, cats can be just as excited to see their people after time apart, even if they show it in a different way.
And knowing how eager my cats are to see me (and beg for attention) as soon as I walk in the door, it's not surprising at all to learn that they do, in fact, miss their favorite people when they're gone — even the most fiercely independent kitties out there.
As Rover points out, research has shown that cats do form attachments to their humans, and have shown to have bigger reactions when reuniting with their people after longer periods of time apart, so for them, distance really does make the heart grow fonder.
You'll know they missed you if they rush to the door to rub themselves against you, and make more purring and meowing sounds than usual, which is just their way of saying they're happy you're home.
Unless, of course, they're masters at using the talking buttons like Puffin is, and in that case, they can just tell you. What a genius he is!

Five Below's $5 Pet Accessory Is Giving Major Main Character Energy
As a pet owner, it's hard not to fall into the trope of looking just like your pet. Whether that comes from years of bonding, pure coincidence or a deliberate effort to style your fur baby just like yourself, the end result is still undeniably adorable.
The thing is, there's nothing wrong with wanting the best possible life for your pet. And sometimes that simply means dressing them up in a stylish fit before hitting the town. Thankfully, your local Five Below always understands the assignment, and the Pawsitively Fun! Large Pet Jewelry is the vibrant $5 accessory the little diva in your family deserves.
Pawsitively Fun! Large Pet Jewelry, $5 at Five BelowSporting a beaded design that calls back to grade school friendship bracelets, this adorable necklace features a faux-gold chain with the words "So Spoiled" spelled out in white beads across the center. The design is finished with multicolored beads and pink bowtie-shaped accents on either end, for a diva-worthy look any good boy or girl would be proud to wear.
As for its size, the name suggests the necklace is meant for larger dogs, though the adjustable design allows for a range of fits. It measures 19 inches in length with a four-inch extender, making it best suited for medium- to large-breed dogs, depending on neck size. That said, with a bit of adjustment and ingenuity, it may also work for smaller pups, though you should expect the fit to vary.

Not only will it elevate your little one's daily fits, but it will also draw attention from passers-by, who will be totally impressed by its loud design.

Senior Cat 'Viciously Assaults' Her German Shepherd Sibling
Nobody warned this German shepherd about the danger. One moment, he was napping in peace. The next, a senior cat settled in beside him and launched what witnesses would later describe as a vicious assault.
She began grooming his ear with the calm authority of someone who had already decided this was happening. No negotiation. No warning. Just a senior cat, a patient dog, and a very one-sided grooming session.

When she paused, the German shepherd lifted his head slowly, turned to look at her, and his expression said everything a dog's face can possibly say: "I didn't say stop."
She resumed. He dropped his head back down.
In a Reddit post to r/germanshepherds, their mom captured how these two spend their time together. The German shepherd may have claimed the bed, but the cat claimed his body.
Why Cats Groom Other PetsGrooming is not casual in the animal world. Cats groom only the companions they trust—it is one of the clearest signals of comfort and social bonding a cat can offer. In a multi-pet household, a moment like this one is not just cute. It is meaningful.
What this senior cat did is a sign of a genuinely strong relationship. She has accepted the German shepherd as part of her inner circle. And from the look on his face when she stopped, the feeling is completely mutual. That kind of ease between a dog and a cat is not something you can fake—and it does not happen overnight.

Breaking Stereotypes One Video at a TimeThe interaction was simple, but pet parents immediately recognized the dynamic.
One commenter joked, "Dog be like... why can't you be nice all the time?" Another played along with the video's caption: "I'd separate them immediately. Time is of the essence here."
But most people zeroed in on that one moment—the pause, the slow head turn, the look. The stereotype says dogs and cats are natural enemies. This video is a quiet argument against that idea.
Getting to This Point Takes TimeWhen you watch the video, it is easy to assume these two have always been this close. That is rarely how it works. The ease you see between them is earned, and the early introduction period matters more than most people realize.
The most important thing you can give a cat in a multi-pet home is an exit. Vertical space lets her stay in the room on her own terms. A cat who can always leave is a cat who feels safe enough to stick around.
Before the two animals ever meet face to face, let them get used to each other's scent. A blanket carrying the other animal's smell takes the shock out of that first real meeting.
When early introductions do happen, keep them short. A five-minute session that ends calmly is worth far more than an hour-long meeting. Wrap things up before either animal gets anxious.
Do not force closeness. The cat decides when she is comfortable enough to close the distance. And one more thing: exercise your dog before any introduction. A settled dog is a cat's best possible first impression. If the dog cannot stay still, the cat will not come near.
Some Things Do Not Need TranslatingThe German shepherd in this video did all of that right, whether he was trained to or not. He was calm. He was still. He let her decide.
And she decided, eventually, that his ear needed attention and she was the one to provide it. That is not just a cute video. It is what a friendship between a dog and a cat actually looks like when it has had time to become real.
She stopped. He asked for more.
The cat, as always, had the final word.

Tiny Chihuahua Mix Who Grew Up With Cats Perfects the Art of the Perfect 'Loaf'
Before adopting my dog eight years ago, I was a proud mom of two cats (and still am). But that means that since my pup was a brand new puppy, she's grown up around cats, and along the way, she's picked up some of their habits. If you want to find her in the afternoon, she will always be found fitting her giant body on a single stair to nap in the perfect patch of sunshine.
This learned behavior is actually more common than some might think, including when it comes to this Chihuahua mix who has perfected the art of the "loaf," despite the fact that he doesn't have a single feline bone in his tiny little body.
@chiwiwi11945His previous owner passed away, but from the photos we've seen, he was raised with cats—and now he loafs like one. 🥹🤍 #chihuahua #fyp #viral #cutedog #fypシ
♬ sonido original - 𝓩ule ❥ 𝓐brahahamThis video from @chiwiwi11945 on TikTok shows exactly how good this pup named Chiwee is at loafing like a true cat, probably because he learned from the best. Though he lives with a new family now, Chiwee was raised with two cats who taught him everything he knows about The Loaf, or the position that makes an animal look like an adorable loaf of bread.
He's already a pretty tiny dog, but tucking away his legs makes him look even smaller, which shouldn't even be possible. This little guy is so precious!
Some commenters are trying to convince his humans to give him new cat siblings, and my fingers are crossed that they're successful. He needs loafing buddies!

Why Do Cats 'Loaf'?All cats love to stretch out sometimes, but often, when you see them relaxing, it'll be in that "loaf" position that Chiwee has so artfully mastered.
But why do they love cuddling up like that? According to the experts at PetMD, if your kitty is sitting with their paws and tails tucked in, it's a sign that you're doing a good job as their human because they feel like they can let their guard down around you.
“Several types of loafing have been described with different meanings, but the classic version is shown by cats that are comfortable in their surroundings,” veterinarian Dr. Bonnie Beaver told the site. “We can't actually measure 'happiness,’ but we can say that cats are relaxed when in this position. It would be much like when a person sits in a reclining chair."
PetMD also notes that if you notice anything unusual about the way your cat is loafing, like hunching their bodies over or staying in that position for an extended period of time, it could signal that something is wrong, so a vet visit or call never hurts.
Mostly, though, loafing just means that your cat is chilling and content. It doesn't look very comfy to me, but apparently, it is for them!

This Globe-Trotting Golden Retriever Just Beat the Average American's Lifetime Travel Bucket List
Waffle is a golden retriever that has achieved something most Americans never do. Her passport history will make most seasoned travelers a little envious.
In a recent post on Reddit's r/goldenretrievers, Waffle's mom shared that she has now visited nine countries. Her latest itinerary took her through Canada.

Previously, she has set paw in Italy, Greece, Spain, Switzerland, France, Portugal, Vatican City and the United States. Nine countries is more than the majority of Americans will visit in their lifetime. She is still going and doesn't want to stop.
Waffle's Numbers in PerspectiveAccording to a Pew Research Center survey, 71 percent of U.S. adults have traveled internationally at some point in their lives. But they visit between three and four foreign countries in their lifetime.
One-fifth of Americans have visited only one foreign country. Waffle has done something most Americans never do: travel the world.
From Europe to the StatesWaffle began her life in Europe, where crossing borders is easier and more common than in the United States. Americans usually travel to Canada, the Caribbean or Mexico.
Traveling internationally with a dog might sound complicated, but Waffle's mom explained most of her globe-trotting happened while living in Europe. She said, "We were living in Europe and you can just travel one country to the next with vaccinations and an EU pet passport. Now we live in the US."
Waffle has come to the States two times. Per her mom, once for vacation, and then when they moved. She came as an ESA (emotional support animal). That was six years ago. The rules have changed, but the lady retriever can now travel to Mexico and other neighboring countries to increase the number of places she has visited.

Waffle Is Part of a Bigger MovementAccording to the American Pet Products Association's 2025 Dog & Cat Report, today's dog parents love to consider their pets in travel plans. Among owners who travel with their dogs, 74 percent took a plane trip with their pet in the past year, up from 68 percent in 2023.
Another proof that pet parents travel with their furry companions more: the American Hotel & Lodging Association reports a 20 percent increase in pet-friendly accommodations in recent years, a direct response to parents who simply refuse to leave their animals behind.
Waffle, in other words, isn't just ahead of the average American traveler. She's ahead of most dogs, too.
"Falafel With Waffle" Needs to HappenReddit users loved Waffle and her adventures, and many would love to see a show or a travel diary. One fan suggested, "I really want a 'Falafel with Waffle' chapter in a Middle Eastern or Mediterranean country." We can already picture it: a golden retriever in a souk, ears perked at the smell of fresh bread and spices. That would be the content the world needs right now.
Another commenter offered a literary comparison, saying, "Steinbeck wrote Travels with Charley. You could write Travels with Waffle. I'd read it."
One thing is certain: Waffle is living the dream: beautiful, loved and well-traveled. And if you want to follow her journey, check her mom's Reddit handle.

Horses Bickering From Their Stalls Are Just Like Kids in the Backseat, and It’s Too Funny
As summer vacation season gets underway, family road trips will soon be in full swing. And if you have kids, or remember being one, you know the backseat can become the perfect place for little disagreements to break out.
Someone is sitting too close. Someone is breathing too loudly. Someone isn’t sharing the snacks.
As it turns out, horses may have their own version of these sibling-style squabbles.
You can see the antics between a mare and a gelding in this May 26 Instagram from @sunset.stables.llc:
View this post on InstagramThe caption from Sunset Stables is almost as funny as the video itself: “Just checking in on the barn’s most stable relationship.”
As one horse slowly moves toward the other, the second immediately snaps back in protest. A moment later, the roles reverse. Neither horse seems interested in starting a real argument, but neither appears willing to let the other have the last word either.
It’s a classic case of “don’t touch me” energy mixed with the reality that they clearly enjoy spending time together.

Horses Form Strong Social RelationshipsResearch published through the National Institutes of Health has found that horses develop preferred social relationships and often form lasting bonds with specific herd mates. These social connections influence how horses spend their time, interact with one another, and navigate life within a group.
Fans immediately recognized the dynamic.
One viewer commented, “You know those two old ladies that go everywhere together and yet are still constantly insulting each other?”
Another asked, “Are they married?”
And @sunset.stables.llc replied, “pretty much.”
Meanwhile, @cressmanheather summed up the entire interaction perfectly:
“Mooooooommmmm, he’s touching me! No, I’m not, no, I’m not!”

Of course, like many siblings or couples, these two seem to get along just fine when it really matters.
Sunset Stables shared another Instagram showing the pair peacefully spending time together in the pasture:
View this post on InstagramThat’s what makes the original video so funny. For all the mock annoyance and dramatic reactions, these horses clearly enjoy each other’s company. Whether they’re exchanging playful warnings in the barn or quietly grazing side by side in the pasture, their relationship looks a lot like the ones many of us have with our own brothers and sisters: a little bit of teasing, a little bit of drama, and plenty of affection underneath it all.
Kitten Wakes Up Late for Litter Feeding Time and Acts Like He's 'Missing Happy Hour'
Litters of fur babies usually do everything as a group. Whether it's a pack of puppy siblings or a cluster of kittens, these bunches of brothers and sisters play together, sleep together, and, of course, have every meal together.
Despite their daily communal feeding times, this pretty kitty was a perfect example of the "you snooze, you lose" adage when she overslept for dinner.
@itsreneesdisplayNo meals go uneaten here #fosterkittens #kittens
♬ Welp, Didn't Expect That - Yu-Peng Chen & HOYO-MiXIn the TikTok from @itsreneesdisplay, a dedicated mama cat was feeding her four kittens when the camera panned over to show the fifth feline fur baby still in bed.
"POV: You wake up and realize you're missing meal time," the onscreen text read as the kitten slowly roused out of sleep.
The tiny feline looked around in a haze until it dawned on her that mealtime started without her. Once the kitten saw that her siblings were getting first dibs on dinner, she began mewing in protest, almost like she was saying, "Hey, save some for me!"
The kitten stumbled out of the cat bed as she made her way over to her mom, hoping to make up for lost time. She gave her mom some snuggles before squeezing her way in for her meal.
Followers related the scene to other classic oversleeping scenarios or those times when you're late to the proverbial party.
"Oh crap, I'm missing happy hour," one joked.
"When you wake late at the hotel," another remarked.
"When you wake up from a nap like, 'why didn't anyone come get me for dinner?'," a follower noted.
"When you wake up on the plane and everyone else is having their drinks and snacks," someone posted.
How Long Should Kittens Stay With Their Mom?Kittens need their mother in those early weeks of life for nourishment, protection, and emotional and physical development. While these tiny fur babies are usually weaned by 8 to 10 weeks, they still need their mom to learn socialization and communication skills.

If a kitten is removed from their mother too early, they can experience developmental and social challenges such as weak bone development and behavioral issues.
In this little kitten's case, she obviously isn't ready to go off on her own yet and should probably get an alarm clock.
