This Adorable Parrot Thinks She’s the Neighborhood Sheriff—and Takes Her Job Seriously

Tue, 06/02/2026 - 9:20am

Parrots are an endlessly fascinating species, and they seem to keep evolving. Many have a laundry list of talents they can't wait to show off. There's one special bird named Bailey with an impressive outdoor skill normally seen with teens—or the local small-town sheriff—and she's really good at it.

Anthony Matthew is Bailey's proud bird dad, and in this recent TikTok video, he captures why people are so smitten with the Double Yellow-Headed Parrot. Once you see her in action, you'll understand why!

My Bird rides a hoverboard like she's drunk omg Bailey

♬ original sound - Anton

"My bird rides a hoverboard like she's drunk, omg Bailey," the caption jokes, as Bailey glides around effortlessly on her tiny hoverboard scooter like she's the neighborhood sheriff. Whether the chatty gal performs an adorable whistle, laugh, and funny "hi, how you doin'," she's a superstar giving the fans what they want (and loving every second of it).

Fans of Bailey say she's like an instant shot of dopamine with her ability to cheer up anyone in 30 seconds or less. The charismatic bird is a natural charmer with her little, old granny laugh that's way too cute, but riding a hoverboard isn't her only talent.

Give this girl anything, and she'll make a cool trick out of it. In another video that her "papa" shared, Bailey's cruising around on a tiny bicycle that seems as if it was made just for her.

♬ original sound - Anton How Do Parrots Learn?

Parrots are known for their extreme level of intelligence and flair for the dramatic, but how do they learn to perform tricks—and is it the same way we train other pets? As it turns out, these smart birds learn in ways that go above and beyond the usual positive reinforcement and repetition standards.

Forbes referenced a 2025 study that explains that Parrots learn new tricks by imitating their peers and humans through a form of "third-party imitation." This is a "social learning trait" previously believed to be a human-only trait. In the way people try to figure out how to fit into an established group (like in school or work), third-party imitation begins with observing interactions, then imitating them to assimilate.

The findings are remarkable because there's never been another species capable of "passive observation" to learn tricks—not even dogs. All of this to say, Bailey is one sweet Parrot who'd make any town proud should she become an actual sheriff on patrol!

Skate Park Dog’s Freestyle Moves Are Winning Hearts Everywhere

Tue, 06/02/2026 - 8:55am

Some dogs fetch. Some dogs nap dramatically in the sun (mine sure do). And then there are dogs who show up at the skate park with the kind of confidence most people wish they had.

This dog may not technically be skating, but you honestly can't insult his craft. Because this is a performance. The vibe is 'local legend who is sponsored and knows every cool person in the city.' The board may not be under his paws, but the energy absolutely is.

View this post on Instagram

In the video, this very rad pup moves through the skate park like he was born there. He runs with purpose, dips around the bowl, and looks like he understands the assignment better than most people. There is zero hesitation. No awkward pause. No, "Am I allowed to do this?" Just pure skate park spirit in dog form.

If someone said this dog used to be a skater in another life, I couldn't argue. Because apparently, some souls come back with muscle memory and even cooler hair.

He's not trying to be the star. He just is. Dogs are unfair like that. They can wander into a situation with zero agenda, and suddenly, everyone is invested with their whole soul. And this pup is just living his best life, moving with the kind of smooth rhythm that would make you want to put on sunglasses and see if your moves were up to snuff.

As someone whose own dog loves riding bikes, I fully understand the thrill of having a pet with extreme sports-adjacent hobbies. I also get her ability to outshine me at any given moment. Because she is super rad, thank you for asking. She may not be dropping into bowls at the skate park, but she knows the joy of movement, wind, and acting like the world is her personal adventure course with designated snack stops.

Some dogs just remind us that fun doesn't have to be complicated. They don't need the right outfit, the perfect weather, or even the right equipment. They see open space, motion, and happy humans, and they think, "Yes! This is my moment to shine!"

The best skate park dogs aren't there to impress anyone, which is exactly why they do.

This dog may not ride a board, but he has the heart of a skater. He has the flow, the attitude, and above all else, the crowd support. At this point, the only thing missing is a tiny helmet and some sponsorship.

Your Dog Might Be Cooler Than You (and That's Fine)

Some pups need a job. Some need structure. And some just need you to take them somewhere with good vibes and let them be part of the scene. If your dog's the type who lights up around action—whether that's a skate park, a hiking trail, or just cruising next to your bike—lean into it. Active dogs aren't just burning energy; they're living their best lives. And honestly? Watching pups discover they love something is one of the best perks of having a dog.

And if people start asking about your dog more than they ask about you, congratulations—you're officially the sidekick now.

Guy Takes His Octopus and Black Cat on a Walk and It’s the Most Florida Thing Ever

Tue, 06/02/2026 - 8:20am

Look, we've seen a lot of things on the internet. We've seen dogs in strollers. We've seen cats on leashes. We've even seen a goat in a sweater being walked through a grocery store parking lot as if it were completely normal.

But a pet octopus. In a tank. On a skateboard. Being pulled down the street alongside a Black Cat.

Florida, you have done it again.

♬ original sound - Steel

Shared by TikTok user @slingin_steel, the amazingly chaotic and somehow completely wholesome video has the internet absolutely unhinged ever since he posted it. In the clip, he casually pulls his pet octopus, who is chillin' in a tank, riding a skateboard like the royalty the octopus clearly is, while his Black Cat runs behind them like this is just a completely normal Tuesday. Because apparently, in this household, it is.

Related: Nobody Expected To See One Cat Taking Another Cat for a Walk

The comments section delivered pretty much exactly what you'd hope for. One viewer wrote, "I love how you take your alien and familiar on walks together," which is honestly the most poetic description of a pet octopus and a Black Cat that has ever been written. Another user chimed in with: "Just walking your octopus and quadropus," and we have no notes. And perhaps the most thoughtful comment came from a viewer who added, "The fact that the octopus is smart enough to probably enjoy this," because they're not wrong. Octopuses are remarkably intelligent animals, and enrichment genuinely matters for their well-being.

The skateboard tank setup is also low-key genius, and we'd be lying if we said we weren't a little impressed. Bro knows how to get around.

Octopuses are one of the most fascinating and genuinely challenging exotic pets you can share your home with. They are legendary escape artists, capable of squeezing through incredibly small spaces, which means their tanks must be completely and securely sealed at all times. They also have relatively short lifespans, typically one to two years depending on the species, and they require pristine saltwater conditions to stay healthy.

Most pet octopuses are either the Common Octopus or the California Two-Spot Octopus, both of which are more manageable than other species. They are highly intelligent creatures who genuinely benefit from enrichment, such as puzzles, new objects, environmental changes, and yes, possibly the occasional skateboard tour of the neighborhood. If you're considering one as a pet, be prepared for a serious time and financial commitment, because the tank setup alone can run into the hundreds of dollars.

As for the Black Cat? Completely unbothered. Just out here on a walk with her eight-armed sibling, like it's the most normal thing in the world.

Which, in this household, it clearly is.

Boy Uses Ring Camera to Tell His Parents Their Lost Husky Is Finally Home — and It's Impossible Not to Cry

Tue, 06/02/2026 - 7:58am

In a video that's stopping people mid-scroll, a young boy clutches his Husky Togo's collar as if he'd never let go again, tears streaming down his face. The mixture of relief and exhaustion is palpable as he yells into the Ring doorbell camera: "I got him! I got him!" It is the only way he could communicate with his parents, who were out combing the streets in search of their dog, who was now home, devouring a bowl of food with his sweet boy by his side.

View this post on Instagram

I might be just as grateful as this kid is for his dog's safe return, and thousands of viewers can totally relate. Some commented:

"Wow, I teared up at this. Every dog parent... knows what that feels like, and you can tell that this boy was so glad to find him."

"I feel that kid's pain HARD, that is one of the worst feelings."

"That’s a good kid with a good heart right there."

"That 'I love you buddy' at the end says it all. So glad he came home to you."

How to Increase the Chances of Finding a Lost Dog

Sadly, dogs go missing, and not all can successfully find their way home like Togo. The ASPCA reported that only 34% of stray dogs nationwide were returned to their owners in 2025. But the odds of being reunited with your pup get dramatically better if you take a few specific, practical steps. Here's how to make sure your dog's story ends like Togo's.

Microchipping your pet is a no-brainer, but a chip is only effective if it's properly registered AND your information is current and accurate. Have you moved? Changed your phone number? Update your information with the microchip company immediately. According to Sarah A. Neikam, SPCA Albrecht Center Marketing Director, "If you are unsure which company your pet’s chip is registered with, your veterinarian or local shelter can help you track it down."

As soon as your dog goes missing, use social media to your advantage. Posting on neighborhood-based platforms like Nextdoor and local Facebook groups is extremely effective, but make sure the photos and descriptions – size, sex, coloring, distinguishing features, location, date missing, and phone number – are clear and correct.

Related: Massive Malamute Hears the 'Hallelujah Chorus' and Decides He's in the Choir Now

It also helps to focus your initial search close to home. Most indoor pets don't travel as far as we fear. Walk your neighborhood, knock on doors, and check the spots animals like to hide: under decks, porches, sheds, and dense shrubs. Distribute flyers with a large, clear photo and bold "LOST DOG" text. Just make sure your phone number is readable from a car, and laminate them if possible so they hold up in the elements.

And if days turn into weeks — don't stop. Pets have found their way home after considerable time away. Keep checking in with your local shelters, visit in person when you can, and bring a current photo every time. Your persistence could be the most effective strategy of all.

Senior Golden Retriever Gets Her Own Built-In Pool — and Her First Dip Is the Best

Tue, 06/02/2026 - 7:10am

Some dogs are born for the water. Whether it's a lake, river, or even a giant puddle, certain breeds don't think twice before jumping in and going for a splash. Newfoundlands, Labradors, and Golden Retrievers are natural swimmers and take a dip any chance they get.

Xena the senior Golden Retriever recently received what most water-loving dogs long for — a built-in pool that she can do laps in anytime she wants.

♬ Outro - M83

In the TikTok from @goldengirl_xena, the precious pooch was taking a dip in a kiddie pool in her backyard, but her mom knew Xena had her sights set on something bigger.

"Is that what you want? You want a real pool?" Xena's mom asked as the gorgeous Golden responded with a head tilt and stepped toward her mother.

"You promised your senior dog a pool years ago and you finally made it happen," the onscreen text read as footage of the ground being leveled and dug in preparation for the new aquatic haven played. "6+ months in the works but years of planning and prepping."

Big Pool Day Finally Arrived

The video cut to opening day of Xena's built-in pool. Along with her fur baby brother Finn, Xena ran outside to take her inaugural dip. The canine cutie couldn't contain her excitement as she pranced through the water and broke into irresistible pool zoomies. Her mom was thrilled to see Xena so excited.

"She is 9.5 years old now and we have always wanted her to have a real pool," the story continued as the joyful Golden Retriever splashed around. "It's so nice to see her have these bursts of energy!"

It was a full-blown pool party as Xena got her floatie toys to join her for a swim. Followers gave props to the pup's parents for the memorable gift and raved over Xena's adorable enthusiasm.

"You added so many years to her life," another praised.

"I love when doggie parents give their doggies yards and pools," a follower posted.

"Sweet girl! She deserves that pool! Good job, Mama!" someone remarked.

Xena will probably spend most of her days perfecting her doggy paddle stroke and having water-filled fun with her brother Finn.

Doberman Hits the Beach With Her Floral Bucket Hat Like the Ultimate Trend-Setter

Tue, 06/02/2026 - 6:25am

One of my favorite parts of living in Florida is beach days with my dogs. Watching them explore the surf, the sand, and all the new smells is one of life's simplest joys.

And for a beautiful Doberman Pinscher named Nanu, it's clear she was loving every moment of her day at the shore. While she certainly doesn't need anything at all to be the cutest thing on the beach, the pink floral bucket hat and custom necklace bearing her name made the look even more memorable.

You can see the trendsetter in this May 8 Instagram from @prettygirl_nanu:

View this post on Instagram

That hat is just too good. And the necklace from @beadsforpawsllc completely pulls the look together. It's just the perfect summer style.

It's hard to imagine anyone calling Nanu dangerous, but as a dog mom who's shared life with many Rottweilers and German Shepherds, I know these misconceptions still happen. As her family shared in the comments:

"My nu bear always gets comments 'does she bite', 'omg a Doberman, they're mean', kids yanked away…yet this girl has prepared 6 stuffed animals to give to you while she wiggles around you for butt pats."

@simonsaysschnauzer commented, "Who called my girl dangerous? Dangerously beautiful is more like it."

Accurate.

@dayana.gianni added, "Dangerously cute …….. dangerously sassy …… dangerously fun."

That's hard to argue with.

@sxayasouk summed up what many of us pet parents were thinking: "I need to get my two Dobies this hat!"

A trendsetter, Nanu certainly is.

In this May 12 Instagram, you can see her rocking a pink bandana while enjoying a well-earned slice of cake, because every fashionista deserves a celebration.

According to the American Kennel Club,  Dobermans Pinschers are known for being loyal, intelligent, and highly trainable companions. While they're often portrayed as intimidating because of their appearance, well-socialized Dobermans are typically affectionate with their families and enjoy human interaction.

While Dobermans sometimes face unfair stereotypes, dogs like Nanu are wonderful ambassadors for the breed. With every tail wag, stuffed animal gift, and beach-day fashion statement, she's helping change minds one interaction at a time.

As this stylish pup proves, kindness and confidence are always in fashion. And a great hat is a bonus.

7 Things That Can Put You on a Dog’s Bad Side

Tue, 06/02/2026 - 5:10am

Dogs tend to be loyal, easygoing companions, but that doesn’t mean they’re comfortable with everything humans do. Many common habits and everyday interactions that people see as friendly or affectionate can actually feel overwhelming, confusing or even intimidating to a dog, affecting their trust and behavior over time.

The thing is, most pet parents don’t realize their actions may be quietly damaging their bond with their dog or making their pup feel uneasy around them.

That’s why understanding your dog’s communication style and what puts a dog on edge is essential to building a strong human–dog relationship and preventing unwanted behavior. The good news is that, according to professional dog trainers, most dogs give clear signs when they’re uncomfortable. Learning to recognize and respect these signals can go a long way in strengthening dog loyality, communication and obedience.

Keep reading to discover seven common dog owner mistakes that can quickly put you on a dog’s bad side, according to experts. Some of these dog behavior truths may surprise you.

Related: 10 Signs Your Dog Is Happy, Relaxed and Trusts You, According to a Trainer

Common Things Pet Parents Do That Can Damage Their Dog’s Trust Many dogs are uncomfortable with hugs from their pet parents.

Many of these behaviors are subtle and easy to overlook, but they can still affect how a dog responds to you over time.

Below are common things dog owners do that can unintentionally damage that relationship, according to trainers.

Forcing Greetings With Unfamiliar Dogs or People

Not every dog wants to say hello—and forcing greetings can sometimes backfire in surprising ways and can sometimes make a dog not like you.

“Forcing greetings can create tension and make a dog feel trapped,” says Nicole Ellis, certified professional dog trainer at Rover. “I see this often with dogs that don’t enjoy dog parks or social meetups.”

When a dog feels cornered during introductions, they may shut down or become reactive. Even subtle pressure, like direct eye contact, can feel overwhelming.

“With an unfamiliar dog, I wouldn’t use direct eye contact as the greeting,” says Chris Loverseed, founder and head trainer at Positive K9 Training. “Blinking, looking away, lip licking, or going still can be the dog trying to de-escalate things.”

Ignoring Subtle Body Language

One of the most common mistakes people make is missing the early warning signs that a dog is uncomfortable.

“People regularly miss warning signs from dogs and then say the dog bit out of nowhere, which simply isn’t true most of the time,” Loverseed says. “Body language like yawning, lip licking, freezing, turning away, whale eye, growling, or even snapping without contact can all signal discomfort.”

Dogs communicate through a range of subtle cues that often appear before more obvious reactions. Context matters, but these signals are usually a dog’s way of providing information before escalation.

Most dogs aren’t trying to be difficult when they react negatively. Instead, they’re responding to situations that feel overwhelming, restrictive, or unsafe. Small adjustments in how you approach, touch, and interact with a dog can make a big difference in building trust and understanding.

Invading a Dog’s Space While Eating or Chewing

Approaching a dog while they’re eating or chewing a high-value item can trigger natural guarding instincts and an put you on their bad side so to speak.

“Even friendly dogs may feel the need to protect their resources if they think something might be taken away, especially if items have been removed in the past,” Ellis says.

Dogs often give clear signals when they’re uncomfortable with someone getting too close during mealtime.

“If a dog goes stiff, hovers over the bowl, eats faster, or growls when someone approaches, they’re asking for space,” Loverseed explains. “Let them eat in peace.”

Related: 7 Sweet and Subtle Signs Your Dog Respects You, According to Vets

Hugging or Picking Up Your Dog

While hugging may feel natural to humans, many dogs find it uncomfortable or even stressful. Because of that, it's not something that brings them closer to you. Instead, it makes them feel the opposite.

“A lot of dogs don’t read a hug as affection,” says Loverseed. "They read it as being held in place. If the dog goes still, turns their head, licks their lips or tries to leave, I’d stop and see whether they choose to come back.”

Instead of hugging, gentler forms of affection—like calm petting along the side of the body—are often better received.

“While it often comes from a place of affection on our side, hugging or lifting a dog can feel restrictive and uncomfortable,” adds Ellis. “Many dogs don’t enjoy these activities, especially if they weren’t given a choice.”

Reaching Over a Dog’s Head

Another common dog owner mistake is reaching over a dog’s head. What feels like a friendly gesture to humans can actually feel intimidating or intrusive to a dog.

“Coming down over a dog’s face or head might feel second-nature and natural to us, but it can feel invasive and overwhelming to a dog,” Ellis explains. “Many dogs are more comfortable with interaction from the side rather than a looming hand from above.”

From a dog’s perspective, a hand reaching down from above can resemble a controlling or threatening movement.

“You’re suddenly above them and in their space, which many dogs read as pressure,” Loverseed says. “Turning away, averting the eyes, lowering the body or freezing are all signs I’d respect. Soften your posture, angle your body and let the dog come to you if it wants contact.”

Backing a Dog Into a Corner

Dogs rely on the ability to move away from situations that make them uncomfortable, so if they are backed into a corner, they don't feel safe.

“When a dog tries to move off, that’s usually the dog choosing not to escalate,” Loverseed explains. “Cornering them removes that option. That’s when you may see the body go still, the stare get harder, or growling appear.”

When a dog feels trapped, their body language often shifts in clear ways—such as freezing, intense staring, or vocalizing discomfort.

Allowing dogs space to retreat gives them a safe way to manage stress without resorting to defensive behavior.

Waking Them with Your Hands

Startling a sleeping dog can trigger an instinctive reaction that doesn’t always go the way owners expect.

“Waking a dog by touching them can trigger a startle response, and a startled dog may snap before they’re fully awake,” Loverseed says. “The safer habit is to call their name softly from a little distance and let them wake up before you reach in.”

Just like people, dogs can feel disoriented when suddenly awakened. Giving them a moment to come to awareness helps prevent unnecessary fear or defensive behavior.

Actually, she has people downright obsessed!

"There is such an odd joy I feel deep in my bones when I see this pretty lady. Very cool," another shared.

Gumbus' eyes give her spunk, but what makes them look this way? The sweet Tabby began life as a normal-looking kitty, but as she grew, she developed a few health issues that required medical intervention. In her young life, Gumbus has had all her teeth removed due to dental problems, a cleft lip, cherry eye, and early-onset glaucoma that required eye surgery.

All of this stems from contracting the very contagious Giardiasis, which PetMD describes as:

  • Single-celled “protozoan” parasite orally ingested through contaminated water, stool, or soil and found in the intestines
  • Causes severe, watery diarrhea, vomiting, excess gas, frequent litter box trips, and decreased energy and appetite
  • Found all over the world, in all kinds of pets—and humans
  • Some cats and dogs are asymptomatic, but it can be very painful in others
  • very contagious and should be treated with medication from a vet
  • Doesn't clear on its own; medical intervention is a must
  • Requires thorough housecleaning to prevent others from contracting the parasite from a pet

Despite everything Gumbus has been through, the precious rescue kitty still shines bright like a diamond. Her galaxy-sized, translucent, marble-looking peepers give her a little extra pizzazz!

Golden Retriever Can’t Decide Whether To Carry His Newspaper or His Lamby—and His Choice Is Too Funny

Mon, 06/01/2026 - 7:55pm

Decisions can be really hard to make sometimes.

Especially when you're debating between your responsibility and something you absolutely love.

We see this firsthand in a new, heartwarming dog video featuring a Golden Retriever who faces the tough dilemma of carrying the newspaper from the driveway or his beloved Lamby toy.

What he does next will astound you.

Viewers are obsessed with how seriously he approaches the decision, and quite frankly, we are impressed by this feat of strength.

Why Golden Retrievers Love Carrying Things in Their Mouths

This is probably not the first time you've seen Golden Retrievers carry something quite large in their mouths or a few different items.

I recall a particularly memorable birthday card in my house one year that featured a Golden Retriever with five tennis balls in his mouth.

So how are Goldens able to carry so much in their mouths?

Well, they were bred to do it.

Originating in Scotland in the 19th century, they were bred to retrieve waterfowl from lakes and rivers where humans shot birds, such as ducks or geese.

They were very strong swimmers, with their webbed feet and muscular chests, shoulders, and hindquarters, and apparently, they were also great at holding rather large items in their mouths.

These pups were excellent at retrieving waterfowl because they were able to hold the birds with a degree of gentleness, so that no teeth marks were left on the birds.

Quite impressive!

So though it may not be a duck being served for Christmas dinner, this Golden Retriever still exhibits those classic traits of the breed, not only carrying a lot in his mouth but also not damaging the newspaper or Lamb Chop toy.

This Border Collie Has Found Lizards and Now It's Her Entire Personality

Mon, 06/01/2026 - 7:20pm

Most Border Collies spend their days herding sheep, competing in agility competitions, or finding increasingly creative ways to outsmart their humans.

Zero has chosen a different path.

She has discovered lizards.

And apparently that's enough excitement to keep her occupied for the foreseeable future.

@zerothesupercollie

Zero has an obsession 🦎

♬ Just Can't Get Enough - The Big 80s Guys

TikTok user @zerothesupercollie shared the hilarious video with the caption:

"My dog discovered lizards, and now this is all she wants to do."

Related: German Shepherd Has the Weirdest Tiny Best Friend and Protects Him With His Life

The clip shows Zero intensely monitoring lizards throughout her yard, patio, and garden wall as if she has personally appointed herself Head of Reptile Security.

No lizard movement goes unnoticed.

No tiny tail flick escapes scrutiny.

No reptile shall pass without being observed.

The funny thing is that Zero never seems to lose interest.

Every new lizard sighting appears to be just as exciting as the first one.

Viewers immediately recognized classic Border Collie behavior.

One commenter wrote:

"She's trying to herd them and is having trouble getting the desired responses."

Which feels pretty accurate.

Border Collies are famous for trying to herd anything that moves, including:

• Children

• Cats

• Ducks

• Vacuum cleaners

• Family members

• Occasionally, absolutely nothing

Lizards may simply be Zero's latest challenge.

Another viewer joked:

"Border Collies really do try to herd literally everything."

Meanwhile, someone else perfectly summed up the situation by writing:

"She has discovered her special interest. Sometimes it's trains, sometimes it's lizards."

That might be my favorite explanation.

Because anyone who has ever loved a dog knows that sometimes they become unexpectedly obsessed with the most random thing imaginable.

One day, they're normal.

The next day, they're dedicating their lives to monitoring backyard reptiles.

Several viewers also pointed out that Zero may actually be protecting her family from tiny dragons.

"There are tiny dragons in her yard. She is keeping you safe."

Actually, I see no evidence disproving that theory.

My Orange Cat, Tarkus, once spent three straight days staring at a single spot on a wall, so I completely understand becoming deeply committed to a hobby nobody else understands. He does have dementia, but still.

Why Are Border Collies So Intense? @happypawsz

You won’t believe how smart this dog really is… The Border Collie isn’t just intelligent — it’s a real four-legged genius. From understanding hundreds of words to predicting your actions, this dog is on another level. Would you ever want one at home?#SmartestDog #BorderCollie #DogFacts

♬ original sound - Happy Paws

Border Collies are widely considered one of the most intelligent dog breeds in the world.

Because they were originally bred to herd livestock, they naturally have strong instincts to:

• Watch movement

• Focus intensely

Solve problems

• Monitor their surroundings

• Stay mentally engaged

Without enough stimulation, many Border Collies create their own projects and hobbies.

In Zero's case, that project appears to be maintaining constant surveillance over the local lizard community.

And judging by her dedication, business is booming.

3-Month-Old Livestock Guardian Dog Stuns the Barn With His Mighty Bark

Mon, 06/01/2026 - 6:35pm

Livestock Guardian Dogs take their jobs seriously. Protecting livestock from predators is something many are bred to do, and it’s a role that combines instinct and training.

For Judge, a massive LGD at Raven Tree Ranch, that job now includes helping mentor a young recruit. His three-month-old Anatolian Shepherd trainee, Grimm, may only weigh 62 pounds right now, but he’s already showing that he’s paying close attention to the veteran dogs around him.

And based on this late-night moment, it seems Grimm has inherited a bark that’s far bigger than his age or size.

You can hear the young pup in this May 25 Instagram from @raventreeranch:

View this post on Instagram

It’s hard to believe that deep bark is coming from such a young puppy. The moment Grimm heard Judge let out a bark, he went from fast asleep to fully alert and sounding the alarm right alongside him.

Even more impressive, Judge seemed to take notice of the youngster’s booming voice. The goats certainly did, too. Several immediately turned their heads toward Grimm as he joined in warning any potential predators that might have been lurking nearby.

Related: 10-Week-Old Anatolian Shepherd Puppy Makes Border Collie Bestie Look Tiny

Watching working dogs communicate and coordinate without human direction is always fascinating. For Livestock Guardian Dogs, staying aware of their surroundings and responding to unusual activity are important parts of the job, even at a young age.

Livestock Guardian Dogs Are Raised to Defend Livestock From Predators

According to the American Kennel Club, Livestock Guardian Dogs are bred to live alongside and protect livestock from predators. Unlike herding dogs, which move animals from one location to another, guardian breeds remain with the flock or herd and act as a constant protective presence.

Fans were impressed by Grimm’s surprisingly powerful bark.

One viewer wrote, “All that bass coming out of such a small body is insane!”

@chantal.adler joked, “When your bark is bigger than your body.”

That’s for sure.

Another commenter added, “If you weren’t looking, you would think it was Judge the whole time. That’s an incredible bark for a puppy.”

🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

And it turns out Grimm isn’t learning from just one experienced mentor.

He’s also spending time with 10-year-old Bo, another respected guardian dog on the ranch. After a decade of protecting his farm family, Bo has earned a reputation for knowing exactly when something deserves attention.

As the ranch explained, when Bo gets up, “it’s getting real.”

You can see Judge, Bo, and the rest of the guardian team protecting the barn from coyotes in this May 29 Instagram:

View this post on Instagram

Grimm may still be a puppy, but if his bark is any indication, he’s well on his way to becoming an impressive Livestock Guardian Dog. With experienced mentors like Judge and Bo showing him the ropes, the future of barn security at Raven Tree Ranch appears to be in very good paws.

Abandoned Dog Found In a Trash Bag Transforms After Rescue and Gets the Perfect Name

Mon, 06/01/2026 - 6:10pm

The homeless animal crisis is a global problem, with countless abandoned dogs and cats trying to survive without proper food, shelter, or medical care. Thankfully, there are worldwide rescue organizations that work tirelessly to save and rehabilitate these animals.

Rescue P.A.W.S. in the Hua Hin region of Thailand was launched in 2013 and helps these four-legged fur babies get a second chance at life. The animal advocates recently saved a dog that was emaciated and left in a garbage bag, with little hope of survival. The precious pooch surprised everyone with her courage and was named Glory to reflect her amazing spirit.

@happydoggoniall

When Glory first arrived in a trash bag, she was just skin, bones, and completely broken. No one thought she would make it through the night, but she had a tiny spark left in her, and this remarkable team refused to let it go out. They fought for her every second and Glory fought right back. Now, this beautiful girl is officially looking for her forever home and waiting for the life she truly deserves. 🏡🥰 This rescue actually comes from our wonderful partners, @Rescue P.A.W.S. Thailand . We work together sterilizing thousands of dogs every year but their tireless work on the ground helping individual dogs inspires us here at Happy Doggo. If it wasn't for them, little Glory wouldn't be alive and there are many more that they save on a daily basis. A follow for the wonderful folks over at Rescue Paws Thailand would be massively appreciated🙏❤️ #streetdogs #dogsofthailand #dogrescue #puppies

Niall Harbison from the Thailand animal rescue Happy Doggo shared Glory's story on his TikTok @happydoggoniall. Harbison often partners with Rescue P.A.W.S. and wanted to highlight their amazing work with this sweet fur baby.

"When Glory first arrived in a trash bag, she was just skin, bones, and completely broken," the caption explained, as the video showed the horribly malnourished and injured condition she was in. "No one thought she would make it through the night, but she had a tiny spark left in her, and this remarkable team refused to let it go out."

The rescue's medical team gave Glory the necessary care and medication she desperately required to keep going. Staff members made sure she got daily nutritious meals, along with plenty of love and affection as they nursed her back to health.

Glory Is Now Available for Adoption

The social media post captured Glory's remarkable recovery and shared that she's ready for a forever family.

"They fought for her every second and Glory fought right back," the story continued. "Now, this beautiful girl is officially looking for her forever home and waiting for the life she truly deserves."

Glory's bio on the Rescue P.A.W.S. website describes her as "part Thai Bankaew, with a sprinkle of Terrier sass, a dash of Spitz charm, and maybe just a pinch of Shiba Inu mischief. In short: 50% mystery, 50% street smarts, and 100% heart."

The canine cutie also gets along very well with other dogs and cats, and would make a wonderful addition to any family.

Thanks to the efforts of these caring rescue workers, Glory has a new leash on life.

Abyssinian Cat Looks Just Like a Tiny Red Squirrel

Mon, 06/01/2026 - 6:00pm

When I was little, one of the pets I wanted more than anything was a squirrel. I've never met anyone who had one, but I was determined to be the first... Closest I've gotten is a Guinea Pig, though.

One Abyssinian cat is giving all of the squirrel vibes, and I can't get enough of him. When he was out in the sun recently, his mom caught him on video, and he's absolutely stunning:

@ellaknott

♬ original sound - guy ☆

Ella Knott is the best mom to her cat, Kojey. He looks like a little red squirrel and a lion cub had a baby! Kojey is so handsome, but that's not all: he's hilarious. He loves to roll around upside down, and whenever he can, he likes to be outside on his leash.

His mom takes him out every day (weather permitting), so he's used to it, and he loves it. They have a nice backyard, but he frequently goes out into the world, too: he's not scared of anything!

Related: Greenhouse Cat ‘Samples the Catnip’ and Finds Out It’s the Good Stuff

Kojey is a pretty chill guy who's usually down for anything. His mom loves experimenting with different places to go and activities to try, and she's been hard-pressed to find something he doesn't like... Until she put him in his birthday outfit:

@ellaknott

I think Kojey really enjoyed his private birthday party #kitten #abyssinian #catyoga #kojey #fyp

I mean, he ate that outfit up. He looks great, and he must not have hated it that much, because he let her keep it on him even while he ate. It's kind of like a fancy bib!

What Are Abyssinian Cats Like?

Abyssinian cats aren't rare: you can find them pretty easily. However, they're not a breed a lot of people know about. It's a shame, really; they're so underrated!

Anna-av / Getty Images

Abyssinian cats are long, skinny cats with smooth, speckled Tabby coats. They typically have some patches of darker fur, creating a wavy banding pattern. They have wide eyes and large ears, and their personalities are:

  • Affectionate.
  • Independent.
  • Resourceful.
  • Adventurous.

These cats love to try new things, but they also like to have their favorite humans by their side. As long as you're there for support, they can do anything!

Mama Maine Coon Cat's ‘Welcome Snuggles’ for Her Kittens Are Pure Joy

Mon, 06/01/2026 - 4:00pm

Cats make such amazing moms, even when their babies weren't planned. Whether Mama is a stray cat on the street or she's living large in a cattery, she cares for her kittens just the same. It's unlike anything else!

One mama Maine Coon takes mothering to the next level every single day. Whenever she has to take a moment away from her babies, she comes back and greets them with the warmest snuggles:

@chaneycheyenne

She loves her babies 🧡🖤 the absolute BEST Mana! #mainecoon #mainecoonsoftiktok #mainecoonkitten #mainecooncat

Chaney Cheyenne's cat and her kittens are so adorable that it makes me a little angry. I want to have that many cute kittens in my house, but it's probably for the best that I don't. I would never get anything done!

Related: Baby Kitten Treats Maine Coon Cat Like a Giant Chew Toy

Mama's name is Doja, and she gave birth to these kittens about a month ago. They were really small at first, and they actually ended up needing to be tube-fed. However, they nurse from their mom too, and they've grown quite a bit!

There are 3 kittens in the litter, and there's even an orange female! There's only about a 20% chance of that happening, so it was a rare treat! They're all growing up nicely, but Nugget is definitely my favorite:

@chaneycheyenne

obsessed with Nugget (she’s a GIRL! very rare!) #mainecoonkitten #fyp #mainecooncat #mainecoonsoftiktok #mainecoonbaby

♬ original sound - Conner West

The little stretch made my heart melt, and it looks like everyone else felt the same way. Most of the comments think Nugget is super:

  • Pretty.
  • Precious.
  • Cutie.
  • Any other word you could possibly think of to call someone cute.

One comment in particular said, "She's giving girl!" I never understood how much different girl pets were to boys... Until I got a girl dog. Now, I can sniff out a girl pet from a mile away!

Maine Coons Are Very Loving

If you're looking for a cat and you have the space, time, and guts for it, Maine Coons can be a great choice. Raising these cats is not easy, and best left to experienced cat parents, but they're awesome!

Image via Shutterstock / photosbelkina

Maine Coons are playful, clingy cats who love to hang out with their favorite humans and pet siblings. They require a lot of effort, but they can make excellent companions for homes with:

  • Other cats.
  • Dogs.
  • Kids.

These cats are gentle giants, but they will assert their boundaries whenever they need to. Make sure they have their own space and, if you have kids, that they're being respectful!

Blue-Footed Birds’ Mating Dance Is One of Nature’s Greatest Wonders

Mon, 06/01/2026 - 2:00pm

Birds are so awesome, especially around this time of year. It's mating season, which means you get to see all of the cool birds doing all of their most impressive tricks. Whether that's mating dances, puffing up their feathers, or anything else, each bird is cooler than the last!

Recently, someone caught a pair of Blue-Footed Boobies doing their mating dance, and everyone loved it. They're so graceful, elegant, and a little bit silly at the same time! They just look so happy to be there:

@moni.jain

#bluefootedboobey #birdsoftiktok #galapagosislands #bluefootedboobies #ecuador

♬ original sound - Nostalgia Library

Moni Jain is so lucky to have seen this in person. I love these birds so much, mostly because they walk like dogs trying on shoes for the first time. When they're moving around during their mating dance, it doesn't look quite so graceful, but the way they elongate their necks is amazing.

It looks like the one on the right is the female: she's larger, and her feet are slightly darker than the other bird's. Plus, she appears to be following his lead: female Blue-Footed Boobies will mirror their partners' movements once they've accepted them.

Related: This Mama Bald Eagle’s Dedication to Her Babies Is Melting Hearts

She saw these birds in the Galapagos, which is where they're from! So not only did she get to see a super cool mating dance, she got to see it in their natural habitat. She even got another close-up shot:

@moni.jain

♬ Clair de lune/Debussy - もつ

I'm just in love with these birds. If I could keep one species as a pet, I think it would be them: they're so cute! Plus, I could leash-train one and take her for a waddle on the town! (Do not do that, these birds are not meant to be pets. But a girl can dream!)

More About Their Mating Life

Blue-Footed Boobies are super interesting birds. Their mating dance is awesome, as you saw, and they're precious. They take mating season very seriously.

photography by Ulrich Hollmann / Getty Images

Blue-Footed Boobies mate between June and August each year. Their mating ritual is long and very specific, including:

  • A beginning where the male waddles toward the female, showing off how cool and blue his feet are.
  • Then, he elongates his neck.
  • If she accepts him, she'll start doing it back.

Sometimes he might also bring a gift for her, like a rock or a stick, to show that he'll contribute to their home-building process. He really does stick around, too: these birds mate for life, and they raise their babies together. How sweet is that?!

This Sweet Horse Thinks He’s a Puppy, and His Hilarious Begging Routine Is Everything

Mon, 06/01/2026 - 1:48pm

Most horses wait by a gate for treats, but one horse named Fabio prefers the front door. This charming horse has a simple routine: showing up at his owner's doorstep and making his treat requests known until something is done about it.

His demands usually involve papaya. That is his favorite treat, and if you are not producing it fast enough, he will walk through your fence, find the front door himself and wait for as long as it takes.

🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

Fabio has no shame about any of this. In fact, hours after his owner posted on Reddit that Fabio had shown up at her front door again, she posted a follow-up: Fabio got his papaya.

Found Fabio at my front door begging for treats
by u/HeidrunBakes in aww A Dog Trapped in a Horse's Body

Fabio operates exactly like the family dog who materializes beside the dinner table the moment food comes out. The instincts are identical, but the scale is considerably different.

That combination of confidence and charm is what has made him a growing favorite among animal lovers on Reddit, and it is not hard to see why.

How It Started

His owner put up a flexible band fence to keep him on his side of the property. Fabio walked straight through it, left it on the ground and continued toward the house.

Waiting by the fence was, in his view, optional. He had somewhere to be and a specific treat in mind.

Related: Horse’s Gentle Goodbye to Senior Husky Before Her Final Farewell Has People in Tears

Welcome to the Fabio Show

Fabio is already a star on Reddit, and the internet has taken notice. One comment said, "This is like the character in games to take you on side missions." We totally agree. Fabio shows up uninvited with a request, and he is not leaving until it is handled.

Another person wrote, "If Donkey from Shrek was a horse."

The treat visits are only part of his appeal. In a separate post that has been making the rounds, Fabio very carefully tried to kiss his owner's cat. He missed on the first attempt. He tried again.

The whole sequence, the gentleness, the focus, the commitment to the second try, is exactly what you would expect from a horse who has never once second-guessed himself. His Reddit fans were completely won over.

As one commenter put it after going through his owner's full post history: "He needs his own show with all his personality."

His owner's response was simple: "Some horses are just born being funny."

Pure Personality Wins the Internet

Fabio is not a trained horse. Nothing in his videos is staged. He is an animal with strong opinions about fruit, a complete disregard for property boundaries, and enough confidence to walk up to a front door and simply stand there until service arrives.

He is handsome. He is ridiculous. He tried to kiss a cat and needed two attempts to get it right. And somewhere on his mom's property, a flexible band fence is still lying on the ground where he left it. That fence never had a chance.

Dachshund Tries to Hide From Bath Time, and Nobody Has the Heart to Tell Him

Mon, 06/01/2026 - 1:30pm

For me, one of life's greatest mysteries will be my dog's love/hate relationship with water. She will be the first to jump into a sprinkler or a kiddie pool in the backyard on a hot day, but the second she realizes it's bath time, suddenly water is her greatest fear and she is out of there.

When it comes to a true dislike of bath time, though, she's in good company... but I will admit she's never gone to the (adorable) lengths to avoid it the way the Dachshund in the TikTok video below does.

@honuinthecity

when it’s bath time #dogsoftiktok #dachshund #cutedog #doggo #puppy

♬ Stealthy mischief(1088178) - KBYS

Honu is hiding, but there's just one problem: This dog is the farthest thing from a hide and seek champion.

He might think that he's totally hidden behind the curtains, but clearly, this isn't his best work. Fortunately, it sounds like his mom is totally willing to play along (and so are the commenters on this video who are all acting like he's invisible).

There's a good chance that this hiding spot wasn't enough to get him out of taking a bath, but he definitely gets credit for trying.

How to Ease Bath Time for Your Pup

There are plenty of dogs out there who simply cannot find any joy in splashing in the tub, but that doesn't mean it needs to be a miserable experience for them (or you) every time they need to get clean.

If there doesn't appear to be a clear reason why your dog has developed this aversion to bath time, there are a few things that you can try to make dog baths more pleasant for everyone involved, as animal welfare expert Cathy Rosenthal pointed out on her website:

  • Make sure there's something in the tub to keep their paws from slipping around, like a no-slip mat or even a towel they can stand on
  • Dilute their soap, which can still get them clean without taking forever to rinse out, making the bath take longer than it needs to
  • Place cotton balls in their ears while washing their head to keep water from running in
  • Avoid too much splashing, which can be stressful for some dogs
  • And of course, offer plenty of treats. A lick mat in the tub can also work wonders

I'm sending you all the good bath vibes for next time around. It can be total chaos, but it's worth getting our furry BFFs clean.

Dog Mom Thought Her Dog’s Late-Night Yard Patrols Were False Alarms Until a Surprise Discovery

Mon, 06/01/2026 - 12:48pm

One woman shared on Reddit that her Jack Russell terrier had taken on a mission. Every evening, she'd pace the fence line, nose to the ground, disappear into the bushes and refuse to come inside. She was not barking at anything or spinning in circles. She was patrolling like she knew there was something out there.

Her mom searched the yard with her and found nothing. She figured it was a scent trail or a neighborhood cat—the usual suspects.

🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

It turns out her dog was indeed onto something.

The Dog Was Convinced Something Was Hiding

Jack Russells were bred to hunt foxes and small animals. They are famous for their determination and drive, and any JRT parent will tell you these dogs do not bark for no reason.

This one continued her patrols night after night, completely focused on finding the intruder. Then, she finally solved the mystery.

One evening, her mom could hear the dog but couldn't see her. She searched the yard and discovered her Jack Russell physically wedged between a fence and a retaining wall platform, stuck and unable to back herself out. Once she managed to free her dog, the mystery was solved.

There was a possum hiding underneath.

Related: Tiny Jack Russell’s Special Day Is More Emotional Than It Seems

The Rescue Operation Was Its Own Adventure

Getting her out was, by her owner's description, fairly ridiculous. The dog had no interest in being extracted.

She was still panting away in the dark, locked onto the possum, treating the whole situation less like a crisis and more like a personal triumph.

Built for the Hunt

The remarkable part is that the dog was far less bothered about being trapped than her owner was. The comments on the Reddit post quickly turned into a full Jack Russell terrier breed description in real time.

One person wrote, "Must. Get. The. Possum," capturing the JRT mindset in four words flat. Another added, "This is sooooo JRT. They live for this." And then came the Spider-Man reference: "JR Senses be tinglin."

Jacks have a powerful instinct to pursue, squeeze into tight spaces and stay on a scent long after a less stubborn dog would quit. That is not a quirk. That is the entire point of the breed.

When a Jack locks onto something, the mission does not end until it is complete. Her owner had no idea what the mission even was for several days. But the moment she found the possum wedged under that platform, everything made sense. Her dog always knew. She just needed the time to prove it.
