Elliot sat up on his hind legs with his front paws lying on his chest in a Meerkat pose in the TikTok from @elliederebellie. While his stance was adorably comical, his ultra-soft marshmallow-like coat was the attention-grabber.

Layers upon layers of silky, feathery fur that billowed outward in soft, plushy waves completely erased any hint of a cat silhouette. It was hard to tell where Elliot began and his fur ended.

The fluffy feline's greenish eyes and tiny white nose were able to peek out amidst the lush, cloud-like coat. His paws had a somewhat definitive shape against that plume of poof, but Elliot's body shape was buried underneath all that heathery hair.

Followers were both mesmerized and perplexed by Elliot's head-turning fur, even comparing him to a famous Dr. Seuss character.

Kitties are incredibly adaptable, and many can live full, happy lives even after injuries or physical changes.

Losing part of an ear, whether from injury, medical treatment, or other circumstances, typically doesn’t affect a cat’s overall quality of life. They can still hear, play, explore, and do all the normal cat things without much trouble.

Cats are also very good at adjusting to their bodies as they are. They don’t dwell on their differences the way humans might, which means they often carry on as if nothing has changed.

Fun fact: In many cases, kitties with visible differences, like a missing ear, actually become even more memorable and beloved because of their unique look.

Lady, the Dachshund, definitely knows how to work an injury to get her way.

The sweet, Longhaired Dachshundrecently hurt her nail and had to get a teeny-tiny, adorable cast on one of her front legs.

Even though a cast may be annoying for Lady, boy, does she look cute hobbling around?

However, as we see in this video, there are times when she may hobble more than others to get some sympathy from her mom!

In this new video, we see little Lady being carried down the stairs by her mom.

Baffoe almost cries when she sees her injured dog walk. "The little hobble! I can't even," she says.

Lady the Dachshund Knows How To Play Her Mom

She makes Lady's breakfast, but it seems Lady doesn't want to get up from her very cozy bed.

So Mom brings the food to Lady. "I have to get her to eat so she can take her medicine. She's being very dramatic," Baffoe says as she feeds Lady from the bowl in her bed.

Then they move to the couch because it's medicine time. "She knows exactly what's about to happen, and she's not happy," says Baffoe.

Though Lady looks away at first, hoping her Mom won't see her, when she takes out her medicine, eventually she takes it down like a champ and then gives her mom a nice nuzzle.

Then suddenly she is almost skipping to her food.

"I am telling you she is such a faker," says Baffoe.

Now it's time to get ready for the day!

Baffoe puts Lady in a cute pink harness, then loads her into her pink sling carrier, and out they go for a nice walk in New York City.

It's their facial markings that make them seem so grumpy, and their grimaced little expressions and sweet baby noises are so lovable that I might have to dust off the 'ole passport to visit them sooner than later. Apparently, meerkats resemble fully-grown adults at just two months of age.

Cute and Ruthless

Don't let Timon, the wisecracking meerkat from The Lion King, give you the wrong impression about these animals. Meerkats might look like the comic relief of the animal world—tiny, upright, always on lookout—but their reality is a lot darker and way more interesting.

For starters, they’re wildly social, living in "mobs" of up to 50, where everyone pitches in to raise the babies, babysit, and stand guard. There’s even a kind of ranking system among the lookouts—some are so reliable they’re basically “trusted security,” and the rest of the group adjusts their behavior based on who’s on duty. 

But here’s where things take a turn: meerkat society is ruled by a dominant female who runs the show with surprising intensity. She produces most of the pups and will go as far as killing other females’ babies or kicking rivals out of the group to keep control. In fact, as many as one in five meerkats are killed by their own kind, making them one of the most internally violent mammals out there. 

They’re also unexpectedly sophisticated communicators. Their vocal system is so advanced that they can signal not just “danger,” but what kind of predator is coming and how urgent the situation is. No wonder these pups are so chatty!

And then there’s the drama: lower-ranking males sneak out at night to mate with females in other groups. Meanwhile, adults actively teach pups how to hunt—starting with dead scorpions before graduating them to live ones.

Meerkats may look cute and coordinated, but underneath it all is a highly strategic, slightly ruthless, and surprisingly intelligent little society.

Spirit was lying with her pups in the TikTok from @rottkarmakennelsllc when one of her fur babies made a little noise. The Rottweiler mom's head immediately jerked toward her babies as she tried to figure out which one the sound came from.

Things got quiet for a moment, so Spirit assumed she had misheard something and went back to just chilling. The tiniest squeak was heard again, prompting Spirit to lock in on her babies to see which pup needed attention. The Rottie even stopped panting so she could clearly hear her precious pooches.

She immediately nuzzled the puppy in front of her to make sure her baby was okay. Spirit didn't waste a second checking on her little ones as soon as one of them fussed. Her maternal instinct was obviously active 24/7.

She was just taken in by an influencer and dog dad, as well as foster dog dad Evan Cooper, who lives in Charleston, North Carolina, with his sweet rescue German Shepherd mix, Vader.

This is the second foster dog they have taken in, so they are pretty much professionals now.

Evan explains that Egg Roll, who is only a few months old, was found abandoned in a wheelbarrow with her siblings.

"But now she's with me and Vader," Evan says confidently into the camera as he takes the two dogs to the park.

Now, the beautiful Egg Roll's biggest problem is just trying to keep up with her athletic big brother and be a small dog in a big dog and people world.

But she's doing just fine!

She also has the most piercing light green eyes and looks like she has some Vizsla dog breed in her, based on the shade of her coat.

Egg Roll the Foster Puppy Has a Great First Day

First, after Evan introduces her to the camera, Egg Roll tries to climb on the table her dad is standing on, but she doesn't quite make it.

Then they go to the playground, but Egg Roll has to climb over a little barrier, which impedes her a bit, but she has success.

When they turn to leave, she has no trouble with the barrier at all. What a fast learner!

@snickersthesmilingcat shared a video of a beautiful Calico cat named Snickers who didn't have an easy beginning, but she's come so, so far over the past six years. 

The clip starts with Snickers at only 5 months old when she was brought home after being abandoned, and we learn that she needed to have two "big surgeries to save my life." She had complications, overcame them, had some more issues, overcame those, learned how to walk again, and she's grown into the absolutely most beautiful kitty with the best smile.

How To Help a New Cat Ease Into the Home

If you're bringing a new kitten or cat into your home, it's such an exciting time, but change can be stressful for you and the new kitty. So doing a few things upfront can help ease that transition. 

According to the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society, setting up a base camp with all the things your kitten or cat needs, including a carrier, toys, litter, food, and water, is the first important step. This will be their quiet, safe space. The site notes that all this change can be scary, and being patient and letting them come to you for cuddles is also important.

From there, you can visit their space with toys and treats, sit to play for a bit, and take their comfort as cues. Wait a bit before introducing other pets to the new cat, and reach out to your vet if you have any issues.

Everybody wants a guard dog. Guard dogs are awesome, whether you've got a big farm to protect or you're just looking for someone to help keep the ghosts away while you sleep. However, in 2026, maybe it's time to think outside the box?

Despite the name, Molly the Cockatoo is indeed a boy. They rescued him two years ago from a local place, and in that time, he's definitely blended himself into his new family. Everybody loves him, and he tolerates everybody, but his brother is clearly his favorite.

Somebody in the comments pointed out that the fact that the boy is sleeping through all of this is proof that it's definitely not a one-time thing. Molly is literally standing on his mouth, and he hasn't even moved a muscle!

When he's not in guard dog mode, Molly is a very sweet bird. He gets along very well with his mom when his brother isn't around! In fact, she literally cannot do anything without him being nosy (beaky?):

Cockatoos Are Very Protective

When a Cockatoo finds their family, they're going to want to protect them. They'll even go to bat for their "spare humans," though in the moment, they're not always the kindest to them. Case in point, Molly pecking at mom!

Cockatoos can be so protective that it's actually a little bit of an issue at times. If a Cockatoo feels like they or someone they love is being threatened, they might:

• Scream.
• Bite.
• Flap their wings aggressively.
• Puff up.

Athena is a wonderful mama cat, but even hardworking mothers need a break every now and then. Thanks to Kaia's devotion and love as Mom's right-hand caregiver, the kitty crew is so very loved. From the day she met them, she's been mesmerized, with Mom noting that it's "the highlight of her day."

Therefore, pack instinct in domestic dogs are common when it comes to their sleeping habits. “Dogs are pack animals and their owner is considered a part of their pack,” says Sally Grottini, dog training expert at JustAnswer. “When a dog is among those they consider their pack, they are more at ease and comfortable.”

This sleeping position strikes the perfect balance of allowing them to stay close to you while still maintaining a sense of independence. Many dogs naturally seek this balance, especially those with a strong attachment to their owners as its essentially pack bonding in their mind.

They Want to Have Optimal Viewpoints

Dogs are instinctively alert, even while asleep. Positioning themselves at the foot of the bed gives them a clear, often unobstructed view of the room and any movement around them, which is one reason why dogs sleep at the foot of the bed or choose to sleep close to their owners. “This allows them the freedom to jump up to protect their pack,” Grottini says. It also ties into broader dog sleeping positions meaning, as dogs often choose locations that maximize comfort and proximity. Most people who love dogs would adopt every single shelter dog in the world if we could. In my dreams, I have all the money in the world, and the entire sum of it is used to care for millions of puppies!

Jan from the Carson Animal Shelter is a massive part of the reason Rufus was able to get adopted before he was euthanized. This was the first video she posted of this sweet boy, and it got thousands of views: that's thousands of potential adopters seeing how sweet he was.

When she posted the video, he had just hours left before being euthanized due to overcrowding. Though it's definitely not ideal, it's the reality for hundreds of dogs every year, especially in heavily populated areas like LA County, where the Carson Animal Shelter is.

They only take in-person adoptees, so she was very clear that whoever was going to adopt Rufus needed to show up ready to rock, and someone did! There isn't really any follow-up beyond her saying he's been rescued, but that's all we need! Plenty of other animals at Carson still need homes, though, including this sweet pup:

Bath time with dogs can be a challenge, especially for pups who aren’t exactly thrilled about getting soaped up. As a mom of a severe allergy dog, we do it twice a week, so I’ve learned to save his favorite treats for right before we head in.

But every dog has their own routine.

For Zara, the Pit Bull, that means her tune. She likes to have her disco jam playing before getting into the tub. Bella on the bed and ready to be pampered in the TikTok from @itsbellaandme. Her mom began combing her long, golden locks to remove any tangles. The glimmering shine on those gorgeous strands could light up an entire room. The Yorkie was completely relaxed as her mom sectioned her hair for a braid.

The length of Bella's hair was impressive, almost like a princess in a storybook or Disney film. Her mom must have considered cutting it, because she asked followers their opinion.

"Half of you said cut it... half said trim," the onscreen text shared, with the caption adding, "I did the tiniest trim… but I’m still undecided."

Regardless, Bella's hair was truly stunning. Her mom completed the long braid and gave her facial fur a fluff. Bella's beauty treatment concluded with some paw and belly rubs for that full serenity vibe. The pretty pooch was perfectly primped like she was a movie star.

How Fast Does a Yorkie's Hair Grow?

Bella's mom may decide to give her a good trim when the weather gets warmer, and wouldn't have to wait too long for it to grow back. A Yorkie's hair grows faster than that of other dogs, averaging 1/4 to 1/2 inch per month. An adult Yorkie that measures six or seven inches at the withers could grow a floor-length coat in approximately 8 to 10 months.

Super fluffy cats are so amazing. They're simply perfect, especially if they have really grumpy faces. They just always look like they have somewhere more important to be, and they're late getting there.

I'm obsessed with Stewie the Persian cat. Despite the fact that he looks literally frazzled, he's a very sweet boy! He loves his mom, he loves taking naps, and according to this video, he loves lint. He snacks on it in the clip, which is a little unsettling, because it looks just like him.

Don't worry: she didn't let him eat anymore. Obviously, lint is not the best for a cat. One little piece won't hurt. With that much fur, Stewie is used to the occasional hairball! His mustache alone must be enough to cause them.

Stewie has another sibling, too. He's a white long-haired Persian cat, but since this is Stewie's account, we don't get to see too much of his brother. Just know that when they fight, they look like a lightly toasted marshmallow and a burnt one battling it out:

I've always said that if I were going to get a cat, I would either want a Ragdoll or a Maine Coon. Looking at Stewie, though... A long-haired Persian might just be in the running!

These kitties often comes with a lot of personality and charm. According to veterinarians, many so-called “sassy” breeds are also some of the most affectionate and people-oriented companions.

The Siamese is known for its slinky, sleek appearance, but this cat is so much more than that. “Vocal, curious, playful and affectionate, the Siamese has both a striking appearance and temperament,” says Liza Cahn, DVM, a veterinarian at Embrace Pet Insurance. The Siamese will be happy to “talk” to you about your day—before sharing the dirt on what happened in theirs, of course. 

"This sassy cat breed requires plenty of attention and environmental enrichment," Cahn notes, so be prepared to have fun toys on hand. Besides playing, they also love to stay close to their people. "Siamese cats are also notoriously nosy and love to follow their owners around," according to Aimee Warner, DVM, resident veterinarian at Waggel. But if you prefer a little spunkiness in your life, this short-haired breed is definitely worth a look.

“These loving, affectionate and spunky cats are often described as being ‘dog-like,’” Cahn says. “They are people-oriented, eager to interact and may even be up for a game of fetch.” Aside from being active, Burmese cats love to interact with their humans as well and will often nuzzle their owners and check in with them throughout the day, just to get their attention.

This cute cat breed has an adorable pom-pom tail that gives it its signature look. Cahn describes them as “good-natured, playful, outgoing, intelligent and sassy."

One of the perks of having a Japanese Bobtail is that they are quick learners, making them fun to train and play games with them. They also crave attention and interactive play, so if you have one, you basically need to have your cat toys ready to go at a moment’s notice. The Japanese Bobtail is a talker as well, dishing out chirps and meows regularly and they are excellent jumpers. If you have one of these kitties, you'll never be bored around them.

Don’t be fooled by the Singapura’s adorable small size: This petite cat has sassiness to spare. The Singapura may be the smallest breed of cat, but it has plenty of energy for everything from playtime to zipping around your place, which makes it so lovable.

These bold pets have big personalities and love to be in the thick of the action. Naturally, this sassy breed also enjoys getting plenty of attention, too. However, when Singapuras aren't busy being in the limelight, you can expect them to want to cuddle as this spunky feline is highly affectionate, after all.

The American Curl has a unique look, with its signature curled-back ears and has a bold personality to match. “The American Curl will generally be lively and confident in terms of being curious, bright and even slightly cheeky at times,” Warner says. “These sweet and sassy cats will usually show an active interest in interacting with their owners and participate in various household chores as well."

Basically, when your American Curl is around, you'll never feel alone. “They often examine their surroundings, unexpectedly appear and clearly signal their desire for attention or action from their owners,” Warner notes. But, at the end of the day, the American Curl is happy to have a good cuddle as they are known as affectionate cat breeds as well.

The Cornish Rex is packed with personality. “Cornish Rexes are often described as energetic, witty and confident animals,” Warner says. “They are known to behave like perpetual kittens rather than calm, reserved adult cats.” If you add one of these furry creatures to your family, expect them to always be playing, running around the place, climbing, jumping and making everyday moments seem a little less ordinary.

“These fun-loving cats are also extremely people-oriented, thereby adding more personality to their boldness and confidence,” Warner says. “Overall, these felines will hardly ever stay unnoticed and quiet for long as they will actively seek attention, interaction and engagement with whatever their owner and other family members may be involved in at the moment.” This breed’s sassiness shouldn’t be mistaken for stubbornness, though. They just have plenty of character and that's why so many cat lovers adore them.

Are sassy cats good pets? They are! The Balinese is another example of a sassy cat that vets recommend. They are a direct relative of Siamese cats, they just have long coats. The exotic-looking breed is incredibly social and talkative, making them a good fit for lively households. Balinese love their humans as well, so expect yours to stick to you like glue and give you ton of affection and cuddles.

Warner points out that this bold breed loves being in the limelight, so expect to hear protests in the form of meows if all eyes aren’t on them and keep in mind that they may get into mischief if they don’t get the attention they expect. So, make sure your pet feels included or is otherwise occupied if you add one to your family. That way they feel loved and are happy.
