Golden Retriever Reunites With Sister After Years Apart—and Instantly Knows Her
Reunited, and it feels so good.
We truly now understand the meaning of that song when we see a Golden Retriever reunite with his sister in a tear-jerking moment that's melting viewers' hearts everywhere.
@thegoldenboyrangerI think they knew 🥹🥹 Also not me messing with the gate while trying to film and taking forever hahahah #goldenretriever #golden #dogmom #cutedog #dog
♬ original sound - Corina + RangerYou can tell Ranger, the Golden Retriever, knows he has met this dog before, and she is very important to him.
He can't wait to smell her and then tell his parents about it (and get a belly rub).
Look how well they play together during this sweet reunion.
Related: Gentle Golden Retriever Acts as a Personal Water Taxi for a Flock of Tiny Ducklings
Can Dogs Recognize Siblings After Years Apart?Though Ranger clearly had familiarity with this dog, was he aware that it was his actual sister and that they shared the same parents?
Research on this subject is somewhat limited, but a few studies have found that dogs can recognize their parents or at least have a familial sense of them, but it depends on the amount of time they were separated.
The most conclusive study was published in the journal Animal Behaviour and cited by ScienceInsights.com, and found that mother dogs separated from their puppies as early as 8 to 12 weeks of age could still identify their offspring two years later.
The Animal Behaviour study, which was conducted by Peter Hepper at Queen’s University Belfast, also found that at 4 to 5.5 weeks of age, puppies showed recognition of their siblings as well as their mother, and it was all scent-based.
However, there's no conclusive evidence that dog siblings could recognize each other after a prolonged absence.
However, it does seem like Ranger knows this other Golden Retriever a bit more than a stranger he just met off the street, so maybe very deep down, in his own dog way, he knows this is a special connection.

7 Household Noises That Are Making Your Pet Feel Unsafe, According to a Vet
Earlier this year, I had a malfunctioning smoke alarm that would randomly go off even when there was no reason for it to do so. Well, my shih-tzu-Yorkie mix Bruce was not a fan to say the very least, and they would freak out and bark like crazy every time the smoke alarm decided it was a good time to start screaming. It was not fun for me or Bruce, and it caused a lot of stress until I was able to get my apartment maintenance to finally replace it.
My experience is not unusual. As it turns out, many dogs and cats are sensitive to noises like the smoke alarm, whether it's fully going off or simply chirping. The reason for this is simple: dogs and cats have far more sensitive hearing than us humans do, which means sounds that we may not even notice may cause them distress or discomfort. Certain noises may make your dog or cat feel anxious, on edge or even afraid.
But beyond an evil malfunctioning smoke detector, are there other sounds that can make your pet feel unsafe? And how can you help your pet feel safer in the presence of these noises? Is there a way to create a "safe zone" for your pet in the event a sound they don't like happens to occur?
To get more information on these topics, we spoke with a veterinarian about common household noises that may make your pet feel unsafe, how to make them feel more at ease and more. Here's what we learned.
Our ExpertDr. Lisa Weeth is a veterinarian and the head of veterinary research at Freshpet.

Household Noises That Make Pets Feel UnsafePhoto by Dreame Vacuum Cleaner on Unsplash
"We often think of loud, infrequent noises (fireworks, gunshots, thunderstorms) as being the most stressful sounds a dog or cat can experience, but animals have much more sensitive hearing than people, and a lot of normal household sounds that may not bother their human companions can provide frequent lower-grade stressors in a pet’s life," Dr. Weeth says.
Common household sounds that may cause distress in your pet include the following:
- Microwave ovens (running and beeping)
- Vacuum cleaners (regular or automatic/robotic)
- Smoke detector chirping
- Smoke alarms going off
- Unfamiliar car sounds
- Ultrasonic small animal deterrents
- Lawnmowers
While there's no way to prevent pets from experiencing these upsetting sounds, there are ways to help them become more comfortable when they do happen.
"These sounds are often at a higher frequency than human ears can detect, and can be part of everyday life in many households, so there isn’t really a way to prevent pets from reacting or to completely avoid them," Dr. Weeth says. "Gradually exposing them to these sounds ideally starting at a young age (desensitization) and providing positive associations (counterconditioning) or rewards can help mitigate their stress response."
How to Create a Soundproof "Safe Zone" for Your Pet"There really isn’t a way to make a 'safe zone,' as many of these sounds are part of normal everyday life, so gradual desensitization and creating positive associations is key to helping pets deal with life in a typical home," Dr. Weeth says.
However, in the event of an infrequent sound exposure, Weeth says you can create a safe haven for your pet.
"For the really loud, infrequent sound exposures (like fireworks or thunderstorms), create a safe place in your home, ideally with no external windows or doors for better sound dampening, and talk with your veterinarian about medical management of short-term anxiety if needed," Dr. Weeth says.
Even though we can't stop common household noises or celebratory fireworks from happening, with these tips we can at least make our homes feel safer for our furry friends and help reduce their stress around these sounds.

Yellow Lab's Hilarious Reaction to Learning He's Going to Grandma's Is Pure Cuteness
Labradors are filled with emotion and energy and are known for being super expressive. Add that all in with telling them they get to do their favorite activity AND see their favorite person? You're just guaranteed to get a lab who is super amped.
Nick Pringle (@orginal_pringles on TikTok) frequently shares his enthusiastic Yellow Lab, Duke, on social media—especially when Duke's really pumped for something. Some of Duke's favorite things are rides, walks, and his kong. But when you combine "ride" with hearing about his favorite person, his grandma? Well, the reaction is pretty priceless.
@orginal_pringlesA little ride to Grandma’s!
♬ Everywhere - Fleetwood MacNick and Duke set out on their ride and made a quick stop at the self-wash station to get a nice bath in before heading to grandma's. Duke doesn't even look over his shoulder when they arrive, immediately bolting through her front door and into the house.
Quite the little ride, indeed!
Why Dogs Get So Excited by Other PeopleDogs get so excited by new people for a plethora of reasons. For starters, dogs are highly social and bond differently with individual people. When it comes to new faces or faces they don't necessarily see every day, part of what excites a dog is the novelty of the "new" person. Similar to a new toy or treat, the new person is a break in routine which is very fun for a lot of dogs.
Additionally, if the person (like...say a grandma) is constantly showering the dog in praise, love, and treats, the dog will associate them with that behavior. Dogs are also big energy mirrors, so they mimic and replicate what they see from humans. On top of all of this, dogs are also pack creatures, so getting to be around the perceived "most fun" member of the pack is always going to be a win win to your dog.
There's not much better than learning you're a dog's favorite person. May we all be so lucky as to have a Duke who will literally jump for joy at hearing our "name" in our lives!

This Standard Poodle Looks Like Somebody Trapped a Victorian Man in a Dog Body
There are cute dogs.
There are funny-looking dogs.
And then there is Fenris, a Standard Poodle who genuinely looks like somebody cursed a mildly alarmed Victorian man into living the rest of his life inside a dog's body.
Honestly, I say this with deep affection.
@jordanlynn77He’s odd. Yes he’s okay he’s just byb asf and shaved down #standardpoodle #notadog #fypシ
♬ original sound - mwaurShared on TikTok by @jordanlynn77, the hilarious clip shows Fenris staring into the camera with an expression that can only be described as “medieval peasant witnessing modern medicine for the first time.”
The caption perfectly sums up the situation:
“Does that dog bite? No, but I’m not entirely sure he is a dog.”
And honestly? Fair.

Fenris is a shaved-down black-and-white Standard Poodle with unusually expressive reddish eyes that somehow make him look simultaneously:
• Haunted
• Human
• Slightly bewildered
• Weirdly polite
• Like he knows too much
At certain angles, he genuinely resembles one of the hyenas from The Lion King mixed with a tiny, exhausted Victorian accountant.
People in the Comments Were Absolutely Losing It:• “He looks medieval.”
• “Pookie, are you sure he doesn’t have a zipper on his back or something?”
• “I’m not sure if even he’s sure he’s a dog.”
• “He definitely has a zipper somewhere.”
• “He looks like a dog’s chew toy came alive.”
Honestly, the “zipper” comments are painfully accurate because Fenris truly has the energy of a man disguised as a dog trying VERY hard not to break character.
But despite his hilariously uncanny appearance, the video also makes it very obvious he’s an extremely happy little guy.
Which somehow makes the whole thing even more charming.
Because underneath the vaguely haunted Victorian energy is just a sweet, weird dog living his best life.
Meanwhile, my elderly Orange Cat, Tarkus, also occasionally stares at me with the exhausted expression of a Civil War doctor who has simply seen too much, so honestly, I deeply respect animals with oddly human faces.

Giant Schnauzer Reaches Her Limit With Sibling's Barking—and Files a 'Formal Complaint'
Every family has one member who thinks the neighborhood watch is a full-time job.
And now and then, that family also has one member who has absolutely had it.
That is what's happening here(I've watched this 12 times).
The Mini Schnauzer in this house treats the window like a 24-hour threat assessment center, barking at anything with movement, shape, sound, or what might generously be called “intent.” Leaves. People. Shadows. Air. Meanwhile, the Giant Schnauzerhas clearly been trying to keep it together for a while. Today, though, the patience ran out. Not quietly. Not gracefully. With one long, dramatic, deeply fed-up howl that felt less like a noise and more like an official written grievance.
@novaknowsbetterMy mini schnauzer stays barking out the window at anything and anyone, and today my Giant has had enough 😭😭😂 #giantschnauzer #dog #funny #dogsoftiktok #fyp
♬ original sound - Nova the GiantThe post sets it up perfectly: The little sibling is back at the window doing the usual nonstop commentary, and the giant decides the household has reached the breaking point where intervention is necessary. It's one of the best little role reversals you could ask for. The Mini Schnauzer, normally so confident in the art of relentless barking, actually seems shocked by the outburst. Like, wait, are you allowed to do that?
The howl doesn't read as random.
It reads as a message.
A very clear one.
People in the comments instantly understood what was happening. One person basically translated the whole thing as the canine version of, “Oh my God, please be quiet,” and truly, no better summary was seen. The Giant Schnauzer isn't joining in. She's objecting. Loudly. Formally. With enough dramatic force that even the tiny bark machine seems briefly rattled.
Sibling dynamics are funny in any species, but dog sibling dynamics are especially good when one of them seems to realize there may, in fact, be limits. This Giant Schnauzer has the exact energy of an older sister who has tolerated nonsense for months and finally slammed a binder on the desk. The Mini Schnauzer has the energy of someone discovering consequences in real time.
Today, it just happened to be the one with the deeper voice.
This clip is relatable, perfectly timed, and just exaggerated enough to feel like a sitcom while still being unmistakably real. One dog wants to yell at the world. The other wants peace, or at least less public commentary. The result is a howl of protest so dramatic it stops the whole operation for a second.
Which, frankly, was needed.
The Mini may bark at the window.
But the Giant?
She has opinions about management.
What Your Dog Is Saying When They HowlHowling can mean a lot of different things depending on the pup and the moment. The AKC notes that dogs may howl to get attention, respond to sound, express stress, or communicate with others. In a multi-dog house, a howl can sometimes act like a loud social signal, less “I am singing” and more “I need everybody to notice this immediately.”
That Giant Schnauzer wasn't just making noise. She was filing a complaint in all caps.

• “It’s criminal how something so cute can become something so TERRIFYING.”
• “If not friend, why friend-shaped?”
And honestly, that last comment perfectly captures the universal human problem with baby tigers.

• Fluffy
• Round-faced
• Cuddly-looking
• Extremely dramatic
... while conveniently ignoring the fact that they eventually become enormous murder cats.

Golden Retriever Waits To Be Picked up by Grandparents for Sleepover—She Packed Her Own Tiny Backpack
Growing up, my favorite thing in the world was going to my Gram's house, where I knew I'd be a spoiled little princess. Maybe it was the Law & Order reruns on repeat or the waffles she'd serve me in bed (spoiled!), but those were some of the best times of my life. Though she's been gone for 11 years now, it warms my heart seeing others experience a similar bond with their grandparents—pets included!
Wynn, the Golden Retriever, is equally excited about having a sleepover at her grandparents' house as I used to be, except there's one thing that puts Wynn in a whole other category of cuteness: her tiny backpack!

♬ original sound - Wynn The GoldenBetween that miniature Nike backpack that's just her size and the way she patiently waits for Grandma, @wynn_thegolden sure is precious. What a good girl this Golden Retriever is letting Grandma come to her instead of sprinting toward the car like a maniac! Even the matriarch is impressed by Wynn's manners and adorable posture!
Throughout the week, Wynn is popular with just about everyone. The silly, goofy girl with the big heart has won over many, including some cool teens who love dropping by to see if she can come out to play. But when it comes to the backpack that all Wynn's fans are swooning over, there's a reason she's happy to wear it.
Maybe Wynn adores her little backpack so much because of all the days she's spent waiting with school-aged kids at the bus stop!
Hanging with so many cool kids who've come to know and love her is such a Golden Retriever thing to do! Having her own backpack makes her feel like she's part of their crew.

♬ original sound - Wynn The Golden A Packing Checklist for a Dog SleepoverIf your pup is lucky enough to have sleepovers at their grandparents' house, there are a few essentials to pack in a travel bag or an equally adorable backpack. Here's a quick and easy checklist to keep in mind:
- Pre-measured food in individual bags, plus extra for emergencies
- Treats and chews
- Food and water bowls; bottled water in case your pup has a sensitive stomach
- Medications with dosages, instructions, and the vet's contact info in case of an emergency; vaccination records
- Harness, leash, and collar for walks and car rides
- ID tags and microchip info in the event they get loose
- Comfort items like toys, their bed/blankets, and items that have your scent on them
With a little prep—and hopefully a backpack like Wynn's—your dog will be just as cute waiting for their pickup from Grandma, too!

Great Pyrenees Spots a Baby Chick and Instantly Becomes a 'Helicopter Parent'
This lovable Great Pyreneesdid his best to protect a baby chick...even if it didn't really need his help.
Earthella, a homesteader and farmer, took to social media to share how her livestock dog, a Pyrenees named River, did his best to rescue a baby chick he thought was in distress. "Thought" being the operative word given that the chick was actually totally fine, not in need of River's assistance, and definitely didn't need the full body bath it was subjected to.
@earthellaGreat Pyrenees protecting things that don't even need protected. 🥰🥰 #greatpyrenees
♬ original sound - EARTHELLAAs shown in the video shared to social media, River gently picked up the chick entirely in his mouth going full "helicopter parent." The hen was the ACTUAL mom was less than impressed with River's attempt at "helping." While the baby chick was fully soaked from its wet ride in River's loving embrace, it was otherwise completely unharmed and wet back to where it was supposed to be once a human intervened.
Why Great Pyrenees Are the Ultimate ProtectorsGreat Pyrenees have been bred for centuries to be Livestock Guardian Dogs (LGDs) able to watch over farm animals and flocks independently from humans. Because of this intentional breeding they are very loyal, are able to make decisions without people, and are relatively fearless especially when in the presence of something they deem a threat. This independence can make them somewhat difficult to train, and they really need work to be satisfied and happy dogs.
Despite their massive size and somewhat domineering look, a Great Pyrenees really is a gentle giant—so long as you're not a threat to their flock. They're famously very affectionate and gentle, especially with little ones. All to say, River the Great Pyrenees had essentially a completely predictable reaction and method behind his madness when it came to protecting the baby chicken.
All to say, just like stated in Earthella's caption, a Great Pyrenees is so good at protecting they'll do it even when things don't need protecting.

This Golden Retriever and Her Unusual Best Friend Are Melting Hearts
Friendship comes in all shapes, sizes, and apparently, species.
David Buck (@davidbuck935 on TikTok) took to social media to share the sweet (but honest, kind of shocking!) friendship between his Golden Retrieverand a duck at their local pond. Riley, his excitable Golden, bolts and leaps to the pond to be able to greet her quacking bestie, and the videos are nothing short of adorable.
@davidbuck935 ♬ original sound - davidbuck935In several videos on TikTok, Riley can be seen cuddling and playing with her duck friend. The duck is even comfortable enough to jump onto the Golden Retriever's back. Their relationship is so fun and sweet, and commenters cannot get enough of the two.
"If that duck had arms it would absolutely hug the crap out of your dog."
"Ok I'm sorry I'm in love! This is true love!"
"We need a children's book about these two!"
David confirmed in comments that the two didn't always get along, but now they're so close he hilariously joked that he has to retire Riley from the title of being a "duck dog."
How Cross-Species Friendships Form Between AnimalsInterspecies friendships (bonds where animals aren't the same species) don't often occur in the wild, but can happen with domesticated animals or other creatures in captivity. Whether through imprinting or simply spending lots of time together, friendships and closeness can happen between different species. Through familiarity and wanting companionship, animals can become friends and it's really remarkable to witness. Aside from domestic pets like Riley, some famous cross-animal bonds include cheetahs and dogs, and a trio of a bear, lion, and tiger who were rescued and lived together at Georgia's Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary.
There are dozens of videos of Riley and her duck friend on her human's social media. Their bond is so sweet and hopefully they'll have several more years playing and romping around together.

What makes zoos even more special is the chance to witness moments you don’t often get to see in the wild, especially when it comes to newborn animals and the ability to watch families grow. And as luck would have it, the Buffalo Zoo is currently home to a particularly heartwarming new arrival, one that’s already capturing loads of attention online.

And while the little one awaits further testing to determine its gender, fans are already gushing over the heartwarming display of family bonding, with the infant closely attached to mom since day one.
“Black howler monkey mothers are known to provide incredibly attentive care for their infants, and Rio has been no different,” the Buffalo Zoo shared in a Facebook post about the new arrival. “Zoo staff have observed the baby constantly with mom, and Rio has done an excellent job caring for and feeding her infant.”
For those planning a visit, the baby will be on exhibit daily with Rio and Tater until around noon in M&T Bank Rainforest Falls for the near future. Why Professionals Never Use Standard Crates for Great Danes and Giant Dogs (and the 3 'Industrial' Solutions They Trust Instead)
Parade Pets aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
For any pet parent, crate training is an important step when bringing any furry friend into the home. For dogs, crates aren’t just a place where they’re put from time to time; crates are an escape they can call their own. Some dogs will retreat to their crates when they’re anxious or they simply want to be alone and decompress. It isn’t uncommon to find their crates full of their favorite blankets and toys that they can use to relax and put themselves at ease. A crate can be a place they can call their own, and it can be a special safe place for dogs to retreat to when they need some R&R.
With that being said, a crate isn’t a great setting for dogs if they’re uncomfortable and cramped. Unfortunately, this may be a problem that large and giant dog breeds may face. Large dogs like Great Danes often struggle in standard-sized crates simply because they don’t fit well in them. Just as no human would like to be cramped into a small box with no room to stretch out, large and giant dog breeds also don’t want to feel cramped in what should be a comfortable retreat to them.

Many crates come in a standard size, but the crates for large and giant dog breeds need to be specifically made with them in mind. With the help of two experts we spoke with, we found out what these adorable gentle giants truly need from a crate that they would love to use as their safe space.
Our Panel of ExpertsWe spoke to two experts to learn more about the best crates for large and giant dog breeds.
- Elam Miller: Elam Miller is the owner of The Dog Kennel Collection, which specializes in designing and producing top-quality kennels and accessories for dogs.
- Jme Thomas: Jme Thomas is the executive director of Motley Zoo Animal Rescue, a rock-and-roll-themed rescue.

While they are sold as the solution, retail XL crates can be unsafe for giant breeds. According to Jme Thomas, executive director of Motley Zoo Animal Rescue, “It's not that you cannot use a typical store crate for a large dog, but the key is whether the dog is calm in the crate. Some dogs bounce and wriggle around and can collapse the pop-up metal wire ones.”
Despite being a larger size, these standard retail crates aren’t equipped to handle the many movements of a dog, especially those of a large or giant breed.
"Standard retail crates tend to bend and warp more easily with larger dogs, such as Great Danes, especially when the dog leans heavily against the sides,” says Elam Miller, the owner of The Dog Kennel Collection. “In transport, standard retail crates are prone to collapse during sudden movement.”

What Professionals Use InsteadInstead of using retail XL crates, here's what Thomas and Miller recommend using for your large or giant breed dog.
Hard-Sided CratesAaron James/Unsplash
“The kinds of crates that should be used for large dogs that are either busy or struggling to crate (which may need intervention if it is separation anxiety, etc., and crating may not be possible) are ones like the Impact brand or something like this,” Thomas says. “There are other brands, but basically these are hard-sided, do not flex and cannot collapse on a dog.”
Covered Dog Run12photostory/Unsplash
A large dog run can be the perfect solution for pet parents with access to a large space where their dog can move around safely. "A covered dog run could also work for a large dog instead (and may cost less than an Impact crate)," Thomas says.
She adds that when using a dog run, you have to consider whether it's able to be secured to the ground, as well as take into account if your dog digs. For example, she says a covered dog run on concrete could easily shift and crash around, whereas on grass it'd be harder for it to move around.
Steel Framed CratesKeighla Exum/Unsplash
When it comes to the ultimate structure, Miller says, “For Great Danes, heavy-duty dog kennels built with heavier-gauge steel framing and commercial-grade hardware are the best option for durability and stability.”
Why You Need 2,000lb-Rated Ratchet StrapsHermes Rivera/Unsplash
Although having the proper crate is vital for ensuring your dog’s safety, it isn’t always enough. If you’re transporting your pup, it may be necessary to include ratchet straps to ensure the crate doesn’t move during its journey.
“A heavier-gauge steel dog kennel is extremely durable on its own, but if it is not properly secured, momentum during braking or turning during transport can still cause it to shift and break,” Miller says. “With a 2,000 lb-rated ratchet strap, the crate will be well secured during transport.”
Even though our gentle giants may require pricier or less common equipment to keep them safe and happy, it’s a worthy investment when it comes to their comfort, security and well-being.

9-Month-Old Pygmy Falcon Is Tiny, but Somehow Has the Loudest Opinions Ever
Toby, the Pygmy Falcon, may only be 9 months old and approximately the size of an overcaffeinated potato, but apparently that hasn't stopped him from developing VERY strong opinions about absolutely everything.
And honestly? He refuses to keep those opinions to himself.

“Keepers are hopeful he will become a companion to Tanzi, the female Pygmy Falcon who stars in the summer bird experience.”
But instead of calmly making his debut, Toby spends the video loudly chirping like a tiny feathered politician addressing the nation.
The noises coming out of this microscopic bird honestly sound WAY too big for his body.

• They weigh just a few ounces.
• They often live in dry savanna habitats.
• They frequently nest in large communal bird nests.
• They hunt insects, small reptiles, and tiny animals.

Meet the Inspiring Therapy Lab Brothers Celebrating an Incredible Milestone in Children's Healthcare
Some of the world's greatest heroes don't always have capes, and in two very special examples, they don't even have opposable thumbs! Labrador Retriever brothers, Lawton and Melman, have been hard at work as full-time facility dogs at a Texas Children's Hospital for the last two years, and now, they're celebrating one epic milestone worthy of alllll the treats!
View this post on InstagramIn honor of "Gotcha Day," @pawsitive_playtch shared a congratulatory post of the dog siblings, and it's all because of what they've accomplished in two short years on the job. When they walked into Texas Children’s Hospital for the first time and began team training, no one knew all the lives they would change.
"We’re so proud to have them on our team and look forward to watching their dedicated service for many years," the post is captioned in part.
As of this post, the dedicated Retrievers have supported over 1,150 patients and families within the Hematology, Oncology, and Pediatric Intensive Care Units, which is beyond incredible!

Baby Donkey Snuggles Into Humans' Bed Like He Pays the Mortgage
Donkeys are amazing and have this incredible ability to look both completely innocent and completely in charge at the same time. They have the softest eyes and still carry themselves like tiny landlords who have arrived for inspection. So when this baby donkey gets caught snuggling in bed with two family members like this, just an ordinary use of household furniture, it feels outrageous for about a whole 2 seconds and then starts to make so much sense.
Because of course, he did.
Would I let a donkey in my bed? That is a hard maybe.
View this post on InstagramThe video starts with what the family clearly considers a pretty standard ranch moment, which tells you everything you need to know about the place. This is a home full of farm animals, exotic animals, and the kind of daily chaos I am here for! But for most people, finding a baby donkey tucked in bed is enough to reset their brain. The caption basically shrugs and says this is just another day around that household, and that level of casualness makes it 100% better.
What really cracks me up is how comfortable and full of himself the little donkey looks.
He isn't acting like someone who wandered in by accident. He is clearly someone who has earned this spot in this house and expects his spot to always be available. One comment joked that now they know their dreams are, in fact, achievable, and yes, that's exactly what I'm here to see.
View this post on InstagramI recently went to a donkey race, and let me tell you, donkeys are even more amazing than this clip can ever show. They're already hard to resist. There's something about them that feels old-fashioned and sweet in a way that cuts through any tough exterior immediately. Then you put one in bed with the family, looking like they have always been there, and it becomes almost unfair.
This is not just "cute farm content." This is a full-on lifestyle argument.
I think donkeys are more affectionate and socially tuned-in than people give them credit for. I don't think the comfort and closeness we are seeing came out of nowhere. If a baby donkey feels safe, adored (which this animal clearly is), and fully welcomed into the daily madness of a ranch household, why would he not end up in bed like he bought the pillow?
Honestly, I think the better question is, why haven't the rest of us tried this?
Why Donkeys Form Such Strong Bonds With HumansDonkeys are incredibly social animals, and that social wiring is a big part of why moments like this feel so spot-on once you understand them. The Donkey Sanctuary explains that donkeys form strong bonds, enjoy social interaction, and often seek comfort and connection from the beings they trust most. That doesn't mean every donkey should be treated like a couch accessory, obviously, but it does help explain why a well-loved baby donkey might choose closeness whenever he can get it.
That little baby donkey didn't climb into bed for attention. He climbed into bed because in his little heart, that's exactly where he belongs.

Mechanics Rescue Tiny Calico Kitten From Car Engine and Everyone’s Emotional

Another commenter answered seriously:
• “It’s super dangerous to drive with them.”
• “Raise the hood and start calling and listening to make sure nothing is inside.”
And honestly, it’s an important reminder because frightened cats and kittens sometimes crawl into warm engines for safety, especially during colder weather.

Devoted Bunny Couple Decides Baby Goat Is Their New Little 'Kid'—and Mom Doesn't Object
As long as I can remember, I've dreamed of living on a farm, surrounded by as many rescued pets as possible—like a real-life Disney princess, except make it a homestead! When I come across an unlikely pet friendship that's on a farm, it reignites those feelings all over again.
This is where Chupacabra and Dragon Cheeto (!) come in. The adorable bunny pair is cute enough on its own, but now they've gone and adopted a baby goat named Peanut. This is one farm family that will melt your heart!
@farmofmilkandhoneyReady for your daily dose of animal cuteness around here? Peanut and Chupa are the cutest little unexpected pair!! They snuggle and hang out all day in the safety of the bunny/baby pen. It is so very cute. 🥰 🐇🐰 #fyp #farmlife #funnyanimals #rabbitsoftiktok #goatsoftiktok

Sure, the little goat has a biological mom who isn't the biggest fan of her child choosing the bunny pair to babysit, but when she's busy getting milked by her humans, Peanut sneaks over to his bonus parents, and we're 100% here for it!
When the happy couple isn't providing stellar babysitting services for the other farm animals, they're up to something much more diabolical.

They have no shame and couldn't wait to show Mom exactly how they get out. Give it time, and I'll bet Peanut will pick up some of their habits unless his goat mom steps in!

Forming this type of relationship fulfills emotional, social, and even survival needs.
Peanut having different farm friends outside of other goats can reduce stress, offer comfort when needed, and provide protection. They may even bond over perceived threats with a "safety in numbers" mentality.
Aside from the basics, these intelligent animals are naturally playful and curious. By hanging out with a variety of different species and breeds, they're all teaching each other some pretty incredible things.

Labrador Dreads Visit From Dachshund Cousin and Her Face Says It All
We all have relatives who rub us the wrong way. Whether it's that nosy aunt who doesn't know when to stop prying or that overly opinionated grandparent who takes everything too seriously, family dynamics can get a little dicey.
Lexi the black Labrador clearly has some baggage with her Dachshund cousin, Chip, and was far from pleased when she heard he was stopping by.
@livinlavitalexishe’s a bit scared of chip #dog #dogs #dogsoftiktok #labradorretriever #dogtok
♬ original sound - livinlavitalexiIn the TikTok from @livinlavitalexi, the Labrador intently listened as her mom shared some distressing news.
"All right, in a couple of minutes, your cousin Chip is coming over," Lexi's mom said as the perplexed pooch absorbed the announcement. "He's not here yet — he's on the way."
Though she didn't utter one single bark or groan, Lexi's expression spoke volumes. The look on her face was one of disappointment mingled with dread.
"You need to be kind to your cousin Chip," the canine cutie's mom explained as Lexi looked down, hoping this was all a bad dream. Apparently, her mom knew Lexi wouldn't be very receptive to the visit.
"Don't make that face," her mom gently reprimanded. "Chip is not going to beat you up. He wants to be your cousin friend, okay? Are you going to be nice and gentle to Chip? All right, we''ll see when he's here."
Lexi's head tilts and despondent eyes didn't show much promise for a joyful reunion.
Chip Made an EntranceFrom Lexi's reaction, one would assume that Chip is a large, rambunctious dog like a Rottweiler or Cane Corso. But he turned out to be a tiny Dachshund with a big presence.
When he arrived at Lexi's home, Chip immediately sought out his cousin. Lexi bypassed giving a warm welcome and automatically headed for another room, but Chip was not deterred. He high-tailed it after her and was determined to mingle, whether Lexi liked it or not.
Viewers of the video sided with Lexi and felt she was justified in her feelings.

"I knew instantly that Chip was the problem," one remarked.
"Big or small…. [Lexi] simply prefers being an only child in the house," another pointed out.

"Chip is an absolute menace to society," someone noted.
Although the video ended before showing the rest of Lexi and Chip's interaction, it's easy to assume how the mini family gathering unfolded.

Why Maine Coon Kittens Are So VocalThough many kitties are very vocal, as we've seen in some hilarious videos, Maine Coons are considered one of the most talkative cat breeds.
Not only are they very vocal, but they also have distinct sounds and forms of communicating compared to other cat breeds.
They tend to make meows, chirps, and trills.
The chirps or trills usually come out when they're excited, such as maybe when they see a bird or squirrel out the window, and the meows are more an indication of wanting something like food or attention.
As for why Maine Coons are a chatty type of cat, according to Aspen Maine Coons, they are a very intelligent breed, and they learn quickly that certain sounds they make produce responses, so they continue to use and refine them.
Maine Coons, with their large size, were also bred to work on farms and ships, and they needed communication, and these quiet but notable sounds helped them work with each other.
They also vocalize a lot in order to form strong bonds with their human companions.
Their sounds also show that they're a confident breed that can communicate without screaming at the top of their lungs.
We have a feeling Bean is going to be one confident Maine Coon cat.

6 Cat Breeds That May Not Be the Best Match for Young Kids
Believe it or not, all cat breeds aren't recommended for homes with young children. That doesn’t mean they’re “bad” pets, rather, some felines simply have traits that make them better matches for quieter, more predictable environments. Because of this, when you're looking to add a cute kitten to your family, it can be hard to know which ones will thrive in lively households with kiddos and which ones prefer calmer ones with a solo parent.
“There are certain cat breeds that are not suitable to be around young children because they are sensitive to noise and unpredictable handling,” says Aimee Warner, DVM, resident veterinarian at Waggel. “Little ones who are still learning how to understand cat body language may love to chase and pick up the cat or hug them too tightly, when the cat simply wants space.”
From independent or reserved breeds to sensitive cats that prefer calm routines and high-energy cats that are unpredictable, these felines may find busy households overwhelming and are often happier in calmer homes or adult-focused environments where they are their pet parent's only responsibility.
So, if you’re searching for a furry companion that fits well into a family with kids, experts say it's best to know which cats are not super kid-friendly before choosing. Below are 6 breeds vets say may not be the best match for homes with young children and one they say will fit right in.

Why Some Cat Breeds May Struggle in Homes With Young Children An aloof cat that prefers spending time alone.A cat’s temperament and early socialization play a major role in how well they adapt to life in a busy household, says Warner. Therefore, there are several reasons why some cat breeds may find life with young kids challenging.
“Children, especially small children, are loud and move unpredictably,” adds Julie Hunt, DVM, a veterinarian contributor at Embrace Pet Insurance. “They may chase cats, pull tails and ears and may hit cats with their hands or with toys.”
Even unintentional behaviors—like getting too close or poking a cat’s face—can feel overwhelming for more sensitive cats. Hunt explains that these interactions can be difficult for some cats to tolerate, although certain breeds tend to be more patient and adaptable than others.
Signs a Cat Breed May Struggle Around Young ChildrenNot every cat reacts the same way to a busy household—and in some cases, their behavior will clearly show when they’re uncomfortable around young children.
One of the earliest signs is avoidance. “If they want to escape when children are around or if they start hiding, chances are they're finding the situation stressful,” says Warner. “You can also sense they are tense when picked up.”
Some cats may also become more rigid in posture, flinch at sudden movements, or consistently seek out quiet, isolated spaces when the home becomes noisy or unpredictable.
On the other hand, cats that tend to do better with children are typically more tolerant of sound, movement, and handling. “Calm, quiet, mellow cats are a good choice,” says Hunt.
In general, a cat’s comfort level around children often comes down to personality traits and early socialization—but their day-to-day behavior usually makes their preferences clear.

Cat Breeds That May Not Be Ideal for Homes With ChildreKorat A sensitive cat that prefers quiet surroundings.Getty Images MGStockPhotography
When it comes to cats that aren't kid-friendly, the Korat is one. While Korats are known for being deeply affectionate with people, they are also highly attuned to their surroundings, making them easily stressed when there is a lot of chaos.
“Korats can be affectionate with their humans, but they are also known to be sensitive and wary of loud noises and sudden movements,” Warner says.
Because of this temperament, the energy and unpredictability that often come with young children may be too much for the breed. These gray cats tend to prefer calm, predictable environments where routines are steady.
In homes with very young children who are still learning how to gently handle pets, a Korat may respond by retreating, hiding, or becoming defensive if it feels overstimulated.
Breed Stats- Personality: Charming, inquisitive
- Weight: 6-10+ pounds
- Lifespan: 15+ years

Savannah cats may be pretty, but they have a wild heritage, as they are descended from domestic cats crossed with a wild African serval. This background contributes to their high energy levels and strong, reactive personalities. So, if you are thinking of getting one and have a young child, you may want to hold off.
“These exotic cats are athletic and reactive—the opposite of calm and mellow,” says Hunt. “If threatened or scared by a child, they will frequently bite or scratch them.”
Because of their energetic nature, Savannahs require consistent mental and physical stimulation to stay balanced—something that can be difficult in busy households with young children. Without enough activity, they may become restless or mischievous.
In addition, this rare cat breed tends to be independent and may not enjoy being picked up or handled frequently, especially by small children who are still learning how to interact with pets.
Breed Stats- Personality: Playful, active, adventurous
- Weight: 8-25 pounds
- Lifespan: 12–15+ years
Vets don't recommend getting a Turkish Van if you're searching for a cuddly kid-friendly feline. These big cats are much better for solo households as they are known for their independent nature and often prefer affection on their own terms.
“Turkish Vans can be quite independent and may prefer affection on their own terms,” says Warner. “That can be tricky with young children who want a cat they can cuddle or carry around.”
While this doesn’t mean they aren’t a good family pet, they are often a better match for homes with older children who understand how to respect a cat’s space. When younger kids try to pick them up or hold them too often, Turkish Vans may feel overwhelmed or seek to escape the interaction.
This breed is also highly active and requires regular physical and mental stimulation to stay content, which can be hard for pet parents in busy houses.
Breed Stats- Personality: Active, loyal
- Weight: 10- 25 pounds
- Lifespan: 13-17+ years
Like the Savannah, the Bengal has a recent connection to wild cats, as it is a hybrid of the Asian Leopard Cat and domestic breeds.
“I would be cautious about recommending the Bengal for very young children,” notes Warner. “They are usually energetic, intelligent and highly active cats that need a lot of enrichment.”
Without enough mental and physical stimulation, Bengals can become frustrated, which may lead to rough or destructive play. Because of this, they tend to do best in homes that can consistently meet their activity needs.
In addition, Bengals are a vocal breed, which can sometimes be challenging in quieter household moments like naptime or rest periods.
Breed Stats- Personality: Inquisitive, spirited, loving
- Weight: 6-15 pounds
- Lifespan: 12–20 years

Are Siamese cats good with kids? The answer depends largely on the individual cat. Siamese cats are known for being affectionate and people-oriented, and many can form strong bonds with children.
“Siamese cats can be very loving and people-focused,” says Warner. “Some do beautifully with children, while others may find constant noise and handling stressful.”
This breed also tends to be very high energy, which can make them more demanding in busy households with young children. Without enough engagement and attention, they may become restless or vocal.
Still, as Warner notes, personality varies widely from cat to cat. “I would not rule them out entirely, but I would be careful with very young children unless the individual cat is confident, well-socialized and has plenty of safe places to retreat.”
Breed Stats- Personality: Playful, social
- Weight: 5-12 pounds
- Lifespan: 10-20 years
Despite its friendly personality, the Sphynx may not be as child-friendly as it looks. Known for being affectionate and people-oriented, this hairless breed still comes with unique traits that can make interactions with young children more complicated.
“Sphynx cats have fragile skin and can’t tolerate potentially rough handling by children,” says Hunt.
While they are often playful and highly interactive with their owners, Sphynx cats may struggle in homes where handling can be unpredictable or overly rough. In busy households with young children, this can sometimes lead to stress for the cat and frustration for the family.
They also tend to be very attention-seeking and energetic, requiring consistent interaction and stimulation—something that can be harder to maintain in homes already managing small children.
Breed Stats- Personality: Loyal, affectionate
- Weight: 6-12 pounds
- Lifespan: 7–15 years
After looking at cat breeds that may not be ideal for young children, experts often point to one that tends to be a consistently family-friendly option: the Ragdoll.
“I would suggest families with children consider a Ragdoll, as long as kids are taught how to handle cats gently,” says Warner. “This breed is affectionate and calm. They can tolerate normal household activity, but they still need gentle handling and a quiet space of their own.”
Hunt also highlights the Ragdoll as a strong match for homes with children. “These fluffy, friendly cats often relax when picked up and are typically very tolerant of gentle interaction,” she notes.
Breed Stats- Personality: Affectionate, relaxed, happy
