Pit Bull With Rare 'Woolly' Gene Refuses To Leave Store Without Cat

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 8:55pm

If there's anyone strong enough to tell a super-cute dog "no," I'm not her. While my Corgi is adorable in her own right, I'm weak when my senior Staffy gives the sad eyes routine. So, whenever I see another precious pup under the Bully umbrella who also uses those peepers to convey what they want, I can't possibly go on with my day without petitioning on their behalf!

This has never been truer than with fellow Pit Bull, King Theodore, and it's not only because of his incredibly rare, long-haired gene. This is a case for why Mom should let Theo have a cat friend (or two) and why I'm siding with him not leaving without one!

@joannaleighmeadow

The things this boy does

♬ original sound - King Theodore & Princess Rosie

The thing about Theo is, he's really special (as if you can't tell by looking at him), and a special boy deserves special things.

With his incredibly cool mohawk/mullet-styled hair that looks like a lion-looking theater wig, the fluffiest ears in all the land, and the classic Pittie sad eyes, I'm not sure how Mom can possibly deny the King of a furry feline friend. Would it help if I lent my Staffy to join Theo's silent plea?

Related: Pit Bull Siblings With Rare 'Mega-Fluff' Gene Reunite With Competing Toupees

It's a good thing Theo's pup sibling, Princess Rosie, isn't there to beg with him. Two Pit Bulls with a mega-rare "fluff" gene are pretty remarkable, and I'm sure they're double the trouble! Some referred to Theo as a "domesticated hyena," while others joked he looks like "Dog the Bounty Hunter," but I say he's just plain adorable.

When you put them together, the King and Princess are the epitome of cuteness overload. I actually cannot with these costumes, which will be a core memory for me! This would definitely get me to adopt a cat for the dogs.

@joannaleighmeadow

Royalty

♬ original sound - The Gene That Gave Theo and Rosie Those Woolly Locks

Theodore and Rosie's unique long locks are all thanks to genetics. The rare recessive genetic mutation, the FGF5 gene, is inherited from both parents (one from each), and it controls hair growth. If you've never seen another long-haired Pittie before, congrats—now you have!

Maybe Mom didn't give in and adopt a cat this time, but I'm sure the fluffy-haired boy (and his sis) will make use of those big, sad eyes again soon!

Red-Lipped Batfish Looks Like She’s Wearing Lipstick and People Are Obsessed

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 8:20pm

There are moments on the internet when you have to pause and ask yourself if what you’re seeing is real, and this is absolutely one of them.

Because yes, this is a real fish. And yes, the fish really does look like it applied a perfect red lipstick and decided to go for a walk, like it has somewhere to be.

@wanderingintrigue

And yes, it's actually real and not ai. The red lip batfish is a unique fish from the Galapagos Islands known for walking and it's very red lips. #ocean #unique #wild #wow #ugly

♬ original sound - Wandering Intrigue 🌻🎵😎⚓

The TikTok video was shared by @wanderingintrigue with the caption, “And yes, it’s actually real and not AI,” which honestly feels necessary. The Red-Lipped Batfish, found around the Galapagos Islands, is known for its bold coloring and its very specific habit of walking along the ocean floor instead of swimming like most fish.

And when this fish walks, it walks with confidence. It's got swagger. Like it just got ready for the day and expects to be noticed.

Related: Senior Golden Retriever Has Magical Experience With Fish in Precious Clip

The comments immediately turned into a mix of awe and mild existential crisis. One person wrote, “There are times when I think I can handle aliens on earth, then something like this crosses my FYP, and I can say with certainty, nope, nope… I can’t!” which feels fair. Completely fair.

Another said their girls would take one look and yell, “MATERIAL GIIIRRLL!” and honestly, they wouldn’t be wrong. The energy is very much “I didn’t do all this lip work for nothing.”

“Wow, nature is so amazing,” showed up, which is true, but also feels like an understatement given the situation. And then, of course, someone joked, “Also known as the mother-in-law,” which… I’m staying out of that one, but I did laugh.

There’s just something about this fish. The lips. The attitude. The slow, deliberate walk. It’s giving confidence. It’s giving presence. It’s giving a level of self-assurance I personally don't have before coffee. And it's way better at wearing red lipstick than I am.

Fun Facts About the Red-Lipped Batfish @deep.ocean.world

Baby Red-lipped batfish (Ogcocephalus darwini) "Okay, who got her this mad?" 😂 #DeepSea #DeepOcean #OceanMystery #Underwater #Reels #ROV #Nature #SeaCreatures

♬ original sound - Deep Ocean World - Deep Ocean World

The Red-Lipped Batfish isn’t just known for its dramatic look; it’s also one of the more unusual fish species in the ocean.

Instead of swimming most of the time, this fish uses its modified fins to “walk” along the ocean floor, which makes it stand out immediately from other fish.

Those bright red lips may help with species recognition or attracting mates, though they mostly just make it look like it’s constantly ready for a photo.

Fun fact: The Red-Lipped Batfish has a small structure on its head called an illicium, which acts like a lure to attract prey. It’s basically a built-in fishing tool.

It also prefers deeper waters as it matures, meaning the younger ones are more likely to be spotted closer to shore.

So yes, it’s real. It walks. It has better lips than most of us. And it somehow makes perfect sense once you accept that the ocean is just doing whatever it wants at this point.

Serra Mama Accessories - 2pk Cat Claw Clip, $4.99 at Aldi Serra Mama Accessories - 2pk Cat Claw Clip

Aldi

The Serra Mama Accessories 2-Pack Cat Claw Clips includes two cat-shaped hair clips that are equal parts cute, fun and functional.

It’s the designs that really steal the show. One features a pearly white cat lounging, while the other showcases a seated black-and-white tuxedo cat with glimmering pearl accents.

But as adorable as these are, they aren’t just for looks. As claw clips, they’re designed to hold your hair in place, whether you’re throwing it up in a quick bun, clipping back sections or just trying to keep it out of your face while feeding your cats

You could even use them to clip bags shut or display them as décor, if that’s more your style.

A Fun Way to Show Off Your Cat-Lover Side

For cat moms (or anyone who just appreciates a cute aesthetic), these clips are an easy way to add a little personality to your everyday look. They’re subtle enough to not look too over-the-top, but still eye-catching enough to turn heads and get compliments.

They also feel a bit more elevated than your average novelty accessory. The pearl-like finish gives them a polished look, so they don’t come off as overly kitschy.

An Easy Grab-and-Go Find

At $5 for a two-pack, this is one of those low-commitment purchases that feels like a no-brainer. They would also make a great gift, whether you tuck one in a stocking at Christmas or give a set to a friend, family member or teacher.

They’re also lightweight and compact, making them perfect for tossing into your bag or leaving in your car to have on hand.

Like all Aldi Finds, these clips are only around for a limited time. Once they’re gone, they’re gone, so if they catch your eye, it’s probably worth grabbing them while you can.

They're a small find, but one that adds a lot of extra cuteness and fun to your everyday look.

Sheepadoodle Puppy Has One Piercing Blue Eye and We Can't Stop Staring

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 7:47pm

Skip, the Sheepadoodle, is a “very distinguished gentleman.” The stunning furball is the subject of a video taking social media by storm after viewers noticed the Doodle’s two different eye colors, making the precious pup the subject of fascination and curiosity. Sheepadoodle are prone to differing eye colors, or even differing colors within the same eye, especially merle-coated Sheepadoodle. Keep reading to see Skip’s breathtaking eyes and to learn why this dog breed can often have two different eye colors and what effect the condition has on these dogs’ health.

In a video shared to social media, Skip can be seen chilling out on the floor. Coincidentally, the black-and-white pup sits on a black-and-white floor, as if the pup styled the photoshoot himself. While dad plays around, commenting on the dog’s “distinguished” demeanor, the pup turns his head, revealing his breathtaking one blue eye, as if this beautiful dog wasn’t a showstopper already.

Why Sheepadoodle Can Have Two Different Eye Colors @skipthedoood

♬ Look at this Distinguished Gentleman - Paul Provosty

Sheepadoodle are prone to differing eye colors, usually one blue and one brown, a condition known as heterochromia. This breed can also have a single eye with two colors, known as sectoral heterochromia, with the eye appearing half-brown and half-blue.

Caused by gene variations, Sheepadoodle face no health risks from differing eye colors, with just their appearance generally affected. However, if a dog’s eye color changes later in life, it can be a symptom of inflammation, injury, or illness.

@blueeyedbeckham

Hello how are you today? 🥹 #dogsoftiktok #blueeyes #sheepadoodle

♬ original sound - For You

Merle-coatedSheepadoodle are most likely to have the unique eye combination due to the merle gene, which can sometimes produce one blue eye or a partially blue eye. The condition is caused by variations in pigment (melanin) in the iris.

For Skip, his single blue eye is a stare-worthy feature. His blue is so piercing, viewers of the social media video are calling him “such a pretty pup.” This Doodle’s staggeringly blue eye has us doing a double take. His gentlemanly demeanor is just icing on the cake.

Corgi's Adorable 'Floating Drumstick' Paws Have Us Watching This Video on Repeat

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 7:20pm

Before we adopted our Corgi, Tater Tot, I had no clue about the breed. Admittedly, I should've done a little more research before bringing home a herding dog who would end up ushering our kids and cats up the stairs every chance she got, but she gets away with it because she's so cute.

Among the many weird, funny, and quirky things about her, it's the potato/loaf-shaped frame with adorable drumstick paws that are sure to make anyone melt. Another Corgi named Katsu reminds me of my girl in many ways, but it's his nap position with "floating drumstick" paws that hits really close to home.

@mr.katsuthecorgi

It’s like he’s floating

♬ awww so cute - Cherri ⁉️

For anyone who's never experienced a puff paint-looking Corgi and their mystifying sleeping positions, Katsu is here to teach you all a lesson! This way of catching some z's is standard in the breed's book, and it makes sense—their short legs don't let their feet touch the ground, so it really does look like they're floating!

Related: Fluffy Corgi's Adorable 'Hello' for Mom Makes Him the Cutest Hype Man

Defying gravity and showing off his impossibly perfect drumsticks is how Katsu is making his way into the hearts of everyone blessed to see him. I know I feel a little happier when this angel shows up on my timeline, and I'm sure he and Tater would be the sweetest Corgi crushes if they could meet.

Relatable Things All Corgis Do

Napping with those stumpy limbs in the air is just one thing the breed's known for, but there are a few things I've learned that seem to be a universal understanding Corgi parents know and accept.

  • They can be vocal, like when hearing a siren pass, and will "awoo" with everything in them.
  • Herding isn't a hobby; it's a lifestyle, and they herd any and everything!
  • They're almost always napping on their backs with their legs sprawled out to the sides.
  • They're sociable, friendly, and the most amazing, loyal cheerleaders you'll ever have.

And like Katsu shows, they're known for having the most epic sploot of any dog, ever. I can confirm 13/10 times, this is how they'll be chillaxing!

@mr.katsuthecorgi

His speciality is looking cute

♬ awww so cute - Cherri ⁉️

Katsu is perfect in every way, whether he's giving his fans a show with those floating drumsticks or just being too adorable for words, and we are not worthy!

Golden Retriever Turns a Random Train Ride Into a Dream Come True for Dog Lovers

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 6:55pm

Commuting is no picnic. If you're stuck on a train without a travel companion, it's always good to have a book with you. A podcast or music may keep you company as well. But imagine spotting a Golden Retriever who's all about spreading good vibes from car to car?

That's what happened on one train in the United Kingdom, and the passengers were delighted to meet this sweet pup named Max.

In an Instagram clip, we get to watch this gorgeous Golden Retriever bring joy to an otherwise basic journey. Take a look!

View this post on Instagram

"An adorable Golden Retriever therapy dog named Max helped ease a stressful journey for commuters aboard a crowded train in the United Kingdom," ABC News captioned the clip.

Viewers adored watching this pup make everyone's day.

"Dogs are just the B E S T ❤️❤️❤️," one person wrote.

"Just a sweet boy sharing his sweet energy 😍❤️🥰🥰," someone else commented.

"Because Goldens are the best at filling your heart with peace 🥹," another fan pointed out.

Aw, so true! Such sweet dispositions!

"Look at him holding his own leash 😍😍😍," another person said.

Yes, this dog is very self-sufficient! He's a working dog, after all!

"Aww, making sure everyone is stress-free! 😂🥰👏," a viewer noted.

You can see the passengers brighten up and reach out to pet him as he passes by. Too cute!

How Therapy Dogs Help Us

We typically think of therapy dogs as spreading cheer in hospitals and other settings where people need care and comfort. But therapy dogs are also out in the communities and can be found in schools and even libraries. Or, in Max's case, on trains!

They're conditioned to offer love and affection to those who will benefit from their attention. This isn't a new concept. In fact, it dates back to ancient Greece. In more recent times, Florence Nightingale was a proponent of animal-assisted therapy, noting that small pets can benefit the sick.

Finding Max, the therapy dog, on the train certainly lifted people's spirits. We wonder where this sweet working dog will go next!

Orange Cat Rescued in NY After Being Hit By Train Given the Most Fitting Name

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 6:10pm

Stray dogs and cats encounter a lot of danger in their everyday lives and must use sharp survival skills to keep going. From food shortages and predatory animals to extreme weather conditions and moving vehicles, strays have to stay on their toes to survive.

This stray orange cat must literally have nine lives. The pretty kitty was rescued after being hit by a train in Suffolk County, NY and now has an entire team helping him recover.

@fox5newyork

A cat, now known as Garfield, was recovered from this spot near Lindenhurst station after being struck by a train. Garfield miraculously survived in spite of his injuries.

♬ original sound - FOX 5 NY - FOX 5 NY

The feline was seen lying motionless on the tracks near the Lindenhurst station on the night of April 11, according to ABC7 News. The engineer who spotted the cat assumed he had died. When the engineer passed the area again later the following evening, he saw the animal move its head and immediately called for a rescue.

The power to the rails was shut off so MTA officers and a rescue team could safely retrieve the injured feline. The TikTok from @fox5newyork shared the effort to save the frightened fur baby.

"The cat was staring at us the entire time — we locked eyes with him. We wanted to make sure he didn't run away," Officer Vikki Machado said.

The orange cat was immediately taken to South Shore Feral Care (SSFC) in West Babylon to give him a full evaluation.

Health Update and New Name

The cat was soon given the moniker Garfield due to his striking resemblance to the famous cartoon character.

A full examination and X-rays revealed Garfield's extensive injuries, including a completely fractured front limb, a broken nose, and two dislocated hips. Despite his serious condition, Garfield's prognosis is promising.

Related: Orange Cat Escapes for an Outdoor Adventure and Immediately Regrets His Life Choices

"Garfield is alert, responsive, and fighting," the organization shared, as reported by People.  "With the right care, right now, he has a real chance to heal beautifully... We are moving forward as quickly as possible, because in cases like this, time matters."

The rescue is requesting donations to cover the costs of Garfield's medical treatment. So far, his injuries have incurred close to $12,000. Funds donated will go toward emergency orthopedic surgery, pain management, and postoperative care.

Garfield is obviously a fighter and getting the care he needs. Now, he even has an entire fan base routing for him.

Woman’s Simple Idea Is Changing Shelter Dogs’ Lives One Field Trip at a Time

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 5:48pm

The kennel door opened, but this time, the nervous puppy wasn’t heading outside for a quick break.

He didn't know it yet, but this "field trip" was actually a high-stakes job interview for the role of a lifetime. When he came back to the shelter, he wasn’t the same dog who had left that morning—he was going to be adopted, all thanks to one woman's genius approach.

🐾 SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾

Her idea is simple but powerful: take shelter dogs on field trips out into the community to raise their visibility and get adopted faster. Not for training. Not for exposure photos. Just to give them a real day outside the kennel.

And according to her Reddit post in the r/rarepuppers subreddit, so far, she is two for two with adoptions.

Her Lucky Streak Continues

The woman says she also owns two rescue dogs, and she wants to help more animals find their forever homes. When she shared the idea on Reddit, people immediately understood what made it work, saying “This is the kind of luck we love to see.”

Another person commented on how animals change outside of the shelter, writing in the comments, “The more people who get to meet and interact with the dogs, the better their chances of getting adopted x20, or more!”

What Changed Outside the Shelter

Inside a shelter, even the calmest dog can feel overwhelming. Noise echoes. Energy builds. Every bark stacks on top of the next.

Even a gentle dog can come across as anxious or shut down in that environment.

But outside in the real world, something shifts.

Related: Shelter Dog Goes on Simple Walk—Then the Unthinkable Happens

On a walk, during a car ride or sitting in a park, the same dog often reveals a completely different personality. Softer. More curious. More relaxed.

That’s what potential adopters rarely get to see.

For this particular puppy, the change was almost immediate.

Somewhere between the shelter and the park, his posture softened. His ears relaxed. By the time they arrived at the park, he was running, chasing toys and pulling toward every new smell. He showed the kind of excitement most adopters never get to witness inside a kennel.

Why This Approach Works Better Than Photos Alone

Photos and videos help, but they cannot replace context. When people meet a dog outside the shelter, they are seeing more than their behavior.

It also changes something for the people involved too. Spending even a few hours with a dog outside the shelter turns them from “one of many” into "that dog." The one who sat beside you in the car. The one who watched everything with quiet curiosity. The one you can suddenly picture waiting for you at home.

Somewhere between that car ride and the walk in the park, he stopped looking like a shelter dog and started acting like someone’s dog.

And that shift, more than anything, is what leads to adoption.

A Cute Upgrade to Everyday Moments

Simple, Functional and Budget-Friendly

At just $8, this set is also an easy yes from a budget standpoint. Both pieces are made of ceramic, which means they’re sturdy enough for daily use and easy to clean.

It’s also the kind of item that works well as a gift, whether it’s for a friend, family member, neighbor or teacher.

Rare ‘Celebrity’ Cat Causes Total Scene in Venice and Becomes a Tourist Attraction

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 4:48pm

It started as a small disruption, and for a few minutes, it looked like the entire city of Venice was waiting to see what would happen next.

While most people travel thousands of miles to see the Gothic architecture and winding canals of Venice, for one group of tourists, another landmark stole the show: a local cat.

Tourists slowed down. Phones came out. Conversations paused. This cat didn’t perform or beg for attention. In a Reddit post uploaded to the r/aww subreddit, someone captured the Venice cat that became a tourist attraction.

by u/BassEvers in aww The Lion of Venice

One of the landmarks in Venice is the Lion statue, representing St. Mark the Evangelist. Commenters joked about it, with one person saying, “There are now two lions in Venice.”

Another person said, “I mean of course he is how often do you expect to encounter a lion in Venice.” Some even joked the scene can be dated thousands of years ago, saying, “I like this because you can picture some people 2000 years ago gathering to watch a cute cat stalk a bird.”

Cat Hijacking a City Built for Beauty

Venice is not short on things to photograph. Every corner offers something worth stopping for: architecture, canals, reflections that look staged even when they’re not.

So when a cat becomes the focal point, it says something.

Animals, especially cats, have a way of breaking the script. They ignore the rules that guide human movement through a place. They sit where they want. Walk when they want. Stop everything without trying.

That unpredictability pulls people in.

Why People Couldn’t Look Away

There’s a reason tourists stopped. It wasn’t just because the cat was cute. It was because it created a moment that wasn’t planned.

In a place where everything feels curated, the cat introduced something real. Unscripted. Slightly inconvenient. Completely alive.

And that’s what people remember when they look back at their photos. Not just where they were, but what interrupted it.

The Secret History of Venice Felines

Venice has a historical debt to these animals that most visitors never realize. During the height of the Black Death, the city’s survival depended on its cat colonies, which were protected by law to keep the rat population in check on the merchant ships.

Today’s celebrity cats are the descendants of these city protectors. When you see a cat lounging on a gondola mooring, you are looking at a lineage that has outlasted empires and survived floods that nearly swallowed the city whole.

  • "This is the best purchase I've made in a long time. I love it! ...  I have two cats and neither will eat what they perceive to be 'stale' kibble... This product is quality. Stainless steel; looks nice in my kitchen and cleans up all those bags; has an air tight seal to keep the kibble fresh...  If you don't have this, GET it in the size that is appropriate for your need."
  • "The airtight seal is excellent and keeps food fresh with no odors escaping. The scoop is outstanding and feels very high quality. It magnetically sticks to the underside of the lid, stays securely in place."
  • "I don’t typically review purchases, but I must say that this dog food storage container is definitely worth the price."

This food storage bin is absolutely worth the investment. It would make a great gift to yourself (and your cats and dogs!)

Adorable Orange Cat’s Reaction to NASA Launch Has Everyone Watching Twice

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 3:48pm

While the world held its breath for the roar of the Artemis II engines, one orange cat was busy tracking the mission from a much more localized command center: the living room carpet.

The rocket hadn’t even cleared the screen before the cat leaned closer, eyes locked as if it understood exactly what was happening.

Most people watching the Artemis II mission were space fans and science lovers. Yet, Miles, an orange cat, was part of another fan-following: curious pets.

His owner, Mariah Garrett (@alltooriah), shared a picture of Miles on X, captioning it, “Teaching my cat about Artemis II, space, and our beloved moon.”

teaching my cat about artemis II, space and our beloved moon ♡ pic.twitter.com/FBZHTlo5pw

— mariah ✷ (@alltooriah) April 7, 2026

In the photo, we see the cat sitting in front of a TV showing the NASA Artemis II mission. He's completely absorbed and focused on the mission, with no distracted grooming. Just a still, focused cat, and the kind of attention most of us struggle to give anything for more than a few seconds.

Small Step for Man, a Giant Leap for Cats

Miles’ owner joked that the cat wanted to go to space just like Jonesy and Ellen Ripley from the movie Alien.

The best part about this story is how NASA replied to the post on X. NASA’s official account replied to the post, saying, “Tell your cat the Artemis crew said pspsps.”

As you can imagine, that caused a huge reaction from Miles and his owner, who wrote back, “He’s screaming with joy at this response and wants to know if he can join the next mission.”

Related: This Sleepy Kitty Takes the Biggest Yawns You've Ever Seen, and It's Adorable

Why Miles Is Obsessed With the Moon

Most cat parents assume their pets are just reacting to the movement on the screen, but there is a specific biological reason for this "interstellar" focus.

Cats possess a high flicker-fusion frequency, meaning they see more frames per second than humans do.

Modern televisions provide a smooth, lifelike motion that perfectly triggers their predatory instincts. For us, the Artemis II rocket was news-worthy information, and for cats it was the most high-stakes laser pointer in history.

So, What Does It Say About Your Cat?

Cats don’t give their focus freely. When they do, it’s earned.

That’s why we love Miles and his engagement with the Artemis II mission. It’s not just about a pet watching TV. It’s about catching a cat in a moment of pure engagement, the kind we usually miss because it happens when we’re not looking.

That is what we should take away from this story. Your cat isn’t ignoring the world. It’s just waiting for something worth watching.

Maltipoo Hears 'You Don’t Love Me' and Immediately Goes Into Hug Mode

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 2:55pm

If you’re a dog parent and you’ve ever tried that thing where you pretend to cry just to see how your dog reacts, then this is going to feel very familiar. Sometimes you get confusion. Sometimes you get a quick glance and zero follow-up. And sometimes, if you’re lucky, you get a full emotional response.

That’s exactly what happens with a tiny Maltipoo named Chloe. The second her dad says, “You don’t love me,” she immediately jumps into action, whining, climbing into his lap, and wrapping herself around him like it’s her job to fix everything.

@thekenzz1

She’s the sweetest girl ever 🥲💓 #dogsoftiktok #dogmom p.s she pretends to cry because she loves the attention and getting babied 🥰

TikTok user @thekenzz1 shared a clip of a tiny Maltipoo, Chloe, and the caption reads, “She’s the sweetest girl ever… p.s. she pretends to cry because she loves the attention and getting babied,” which honestly makes the whole thing even better. This is not panic. This is performance. And she is committed.

The comments were exactly what you’d expect from a dog this emotionally available. “How I expect my man to react when I say that,” one person wrote, which feels like a very high standard to set.

Related: Irish Wolfhound Is Almost as Tall as His Human Dad and It’s Jaw-Dropping

Another added, “Can I borrow her? I need someone to love me like that,” and honestly, same. We all want a Chloe in our lives.

Some viewers got protective, saying, “Don’t stress her out. She really loves you,” which led Chloe’s mom to jump in and clarify, “Just to clear the air, she isn’t stressed. She pretends to cry because she LOVES the attention and being babied. This girl is too spoiled and well taken care of.” Which… yes. That checks out. This is a little pup who knows exactly what she’s doing.

“I trained my boyfriend to do the same thing,” showed up (incredible), along with: “Mini Poodles are the sweetest dogs ever… that dog was an absolute angel,” which feels like a strong endorsement of the entire breed category.

And then, of course: “Apologize to Chloe right now AND get her a pup cup,” and “You broke her little tiny baby heart,” which is the correct emotional response even if she is, in fact, acting.

Also, I’m just saying, my dog Kingston would leave the room immediately or else demand a treat if I tried this, and my Maine Coon named Meatball would stare at me like I’m embarrassing him in front of his friends.

Do Dogs Have Empathy? Woman holding a Chihuahua.

Image Via: KDdesign_photo_video/Shutterstock

Dogs can absolutely pick up on human emotions, and many will respond when their people are upset, whether that’s through physical closeness, vocalizing, or trying to get attention.

Studies have shown that dogs are highly attuned to tone of voice, facial expressions, and body language. When they sense sadness or distress, they often try to comfort their humans, even if they don’t fully understand the situation.

Some pups, like Chloe, take it a step further and learn that certain behaviors, like cuddling or “crying,” get a strong emotional response. Over time, that can turn into a kind of learned interaction where they lean into those behaviors because they know it works.

Fun fact: Dogs have been shown to approach crying humans more quickly than people who are simply talking or humming, suggesting they are drawn to emotional cues and may feel motivated to respond.

So yes, Chloe may be a little bit dramatic. But she’s also tuned in, affectionate, and very, very good at getting exactly what she wants.

Rescue Cat With Missing Ear Looks Exactly Like a Famous Artist

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 1:20pm

Every now and then, the universe sprinkles a little extra fairy dust into the atmosphere, gifting all pet-obsessed people (me) with some really special furry companions. Today is that day, and you can thank me later.

Whether you're in the adopt-a-cat mood or not, you might be all the way in once you meet rescue kitty, Vincent Van Gogh. His name, as implied, suits him well since he's missing an ear, and his "pawsonality" only adds to his quirky charm!

@neko.cat.cafe

How Vinny likely lost his ear. We assume. #catcafe #seattle #catsoftiktok #disabledcats #bellingham

♬ original sound - NEKO Cat Cafe

As you can see, Vinny is a Lilac Point Siamese, and his missing ear gives him an advantage against all the other adoptable cats because there's no one else like him. As the post jokes, there are a lot of assumptions as to how he ended up with one ear, and they're all pretty creative.

Whether Vinny lost that ear in the war, left it in his other pants, it blew away with the wind, or he gave it up for Lent, he couldn't be any more of a Vincent Van Gogh than the famous artist himself if he tried!

How To Adopt Vincent Van Gogh—or His Friends

With a headline like: "What He Lacks in Ears, He Makes Up for in Being a Really Good Guy," Vinny deserves a loving family who's looking for the total package.

"Blue eyes, one ear, a lil crusty. This guy is a lovely go-with-the-flow cuddle bug who loves this whole cat room thing," a NEKO Cat Cafe profile describes the sweet kitty.

The 1.5-year-old male with off-the-charts charisma is a real catch, despite his lack of ear-ness, and he's located in Seattle. If he's not your jam, take a look at his welcome video along with some other cutie-pies looking for their "furever" homes!

Funny Labrador’s Epic Run From Animal Control Is So On-Brand

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 1:15pm

If you’re an animal lover, you already know it’s hard to imagine what animal control officers deal with each day. The job comes with plenty of challenges, but now and then, there’s a moment that brings a little bit of unexpected joy.

That was the case for an animal control officer with the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office in Kansas, who responded to a call about a Black Labrador Retriever on the loose.

And this particular Lab had no intention of making things easy.

Instead of sticking around to be taken home, the clearly excited pup treated the entire encounter like a game.

You can see the moment unfold in this April 7 Instagram post from @shawneecosheriff:

View this post on Instagram

At first, it looked like it might be an easy catch for this officer.

It wasn’t.

Almost immediately, he took off on an all-out run across the open field behind her.

When she looked into the camera, her expression said it all. Landing somewhere between disbelief and acceptance, like she already knew exactly how this was about to go.

Related: Chocolate Labrador in a Field of ‘Chocolate Cows’ Is Living His Best Life

As she turned to figure out where he went, the camera caught him in the distance, sprinting across the field and covering what looked like miles in seconds. He’s fully in the moment, stretching his legs and making the most of his freedom.

But in true Labrador Retriever fashion, it doesn’t last long.

After getting that burst of energy out, he comes running right back, happy, friendly, and ready to greet her as if nothing had happened.

Labrador Retriever Recall Can Take a Minute

As described by the American Kennel Club, Labrador Retrievers are known for their friendly, high-energy nature and strong desire to engage with both people and their surroundings. That excitement can sometimes override immediate recall, especially in open spaces where there’s something exciting to see or do. But because Labs are also highly social and people-oriented, they tend to check back in quickly, even if they take a short detour first.

It’s a quick moment, but one that says a lot about the breed. Even when they take off, it rarely takes long before they return to soak up attention.

Adorable Terrier Mix Has a Rare Coat Pattern That Looks Split in Half

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 12:20pm

All dogs are beautiful and stunning, with features that make them stand out. But sometimes we come across a pooch who has a one-of-a-kind look that catches our eye. Maybe it's their eye color, a coat shade mix we don't often see, or a personality quirk.

In this video, we meet a cute rescue dog who has caught attention because of his "coolest hairdo," and we think everyone should get a chance to see it.

@sahumane_official

Scruffy is the pup with the coolest hairdo! He was transferred to us in March from another local shelter and is ready to trade in his kennel for a big, fluffy bed. Come meet Scruffy today! We’re sure he’ll steal your heart!

On April 3, 2026, TikTok user San Antonio Humane Society (@sahumane_official) shared a video of one of their rescue dogs, named Scruffy, who has something special about him. His hair.

Scruffy is a Terrier mix, and his fur looks like it's a remix of two different coat patterns. One side or portion of his coat has longer, fluffier hair, and the other has shorter fur. But somehow he's got both together in one, and his name, Scruffy, is very fitting. He's beautiful, so unique, and we're not the only ones obsessed.

In the caption, we learn that Scruffy, who is 5 years old, is a real sweetheart and ready to find his forever family. We can see just how sweet he is in this clip.

In the comments, an update from the San Antonio Humane Society states that Scruffy has found his forever home and is settling well with his new family. We're sure he and his unique fur are loved as much as he deserves.

What To Consider Before Adopting a Dog

The decision to add a dog to the family is such a big and exciting one, but there are some important things you should consider first, before bringing home your new pup, experts say.

According to Pedigree, you need to take an honest look at your lifestyle to make sure now is the best time to bring a pup into the mix. You'll want to ask yourself if you have enough time to dedicate to a pup, not just immediately, but in the long term, which is important in order to ensure their daily needs are met. You need to analyze if you're ready to budget for a dog, which can be expensive, and then look at what type of dog would be best for you.

When all those things align, adding a dog to your world is going to be the best thing ever!

Husky Goes Viral After Showing Up at Doggy Day Care Without Her Humans in Tow

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 11:52am

Many dogs try to escape the bath, the vet or other 'scary' places. Missy the Husky? She escapes to her favorite spot—Spot's Place Doggy daycare.

There's a cute TikTok that's going super viral showing what happened when Missy decided she wasn't staying home. Period. The caption reads, "Someone escaped her house today and came to see us..." with Gwen Stefani's "Sweet Escape" playing perfectly as the soundtrack to the situation in the background.

The text overlay tells the entire story: "When you love daycare so much that you show up unannounced....without your mom or dad. Supposed to be at home today but she had other plans."

Not only did Missy show up uninvited, she showed up covered in mud. So, she got a bath. And then? She had to see her boyfriend, Shaggy. The daycare obliged, of course. "Can't travel all the way here and not get to play with your man," the post explains.

@spotsplaceyqr

The daycare called Missy's parents to let them know their dog had self-checked in for the day. Missy waited patiently for pickup, getting snuggles in the meantime.

The comments are absolutely loving this energy.

"And then they told on me," Milk-Bone's official account commented, capturing Missy's betrayal.

"This is such a green flag review for the daycare 😂😂," recognizing the best advertising ever.

"As a husky owner, Missy was NOT sorry," a fellow Husky parent understanding the breed's complete lack of remorse.

"She said surprise surprisssssse where's my man," imagining Missy's arrival announcement.

"She snuck out, had an everything shower, and then saw her man 😂," breaking down Missy's full spa day.

"Yeah my mom said it's fine. No, you don't have to call her to confirm!" Missy's imagined lie to the staff.

"Now this is an excellent customer review!" the ultimate endorsement.

Husky Escapes Home to Visit Doggy Daycare and See Her Boyfriend

Here's what makes this story absolutely perfect: Missy didn't run away from anything. She ran toward her everything. Her favorite place, her friends, and her boyfriend, Shaggy.

The daycare handled it flawlessly—gave her a bath, let her spend quality time with Shaggy, called her parents, and kept her safe and happy until pickup.

Missy's verdict? "Best day ever! (Sorry mom and dad for escaping)" - Missy probably.

Rarely Seen Dumbo Octopus Captured on Camera and It Will Stun You

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 11:20am

In a recent news report from ABC, it was revealed that scientists from the Ocean Exploration Trust captured on film one of the rarest sea-dwelling creatures ever: the Dumbo Octopus.

These adorable creatures earned their Disney name because of their small stature (8 to 12 inches long), rounded bodies, and two fins above each eye, reminiscent of a certain beloved cartoon elephant.

The one caught on camera this time, in which you can hear the scientists oohing and ahhing over it, is white and just incredible to look at.

"Ohh, the flappy, flappy ears," one remarks.

This creature truly does look like something out of a Pixar studio.

But this species, which belongs to the Grimpoteuthis genus of deep-sea umbrella octopuses, comes in all shapes and colors.

It's also incredible because this is the deepest-sea-swimming octopus to exist, reaching 13,000 feet below sea level.

The Grimpoteuthis genus has specialized biological structures that help it survive this incredibly difficult environment.

There aren't a lot of food sources at the bottom of the ocean, so the Dumbo Octopus feeds on tiny animals such as crustaceans, worms, and snails.

But sometimes they can't even get enough of those tiny creatures to survive, so the Dumbo has to conserve energy.

They don't really swim, but instead, they hover or drift along the ocean floor.

The scientists described the way this Dumbo Octopus moved as so graceful and beautiful, as it just floated around in an ethereal manner.

It almost looks as if it is doing ballet.

The good news is that there aren't many predators down there with them, as they don't have much ability to camouflage themselves and don't have ink sacs, unlike many other octopus species.
