Dr. Jones explains that his dog, Tula, gets anxious when there's a loud noise or even before going on camera. He locates the Yin Tang point at the bridge of the nose, between her eyes, and applies moderate pressure for about 60 seconds, noting that it can be repeated every 10 minutes. After doing so, he says she stops shaking, her breathing normalizes, and she appears noticeably calmer.

Calming Pressure Points for Anxious Dogs

Acupressure is a technique adapted from traditional Chinese medicine that uses gentle pressure on specific points of the body to help promote relaxation and balance. According to Animal Medical of New City, acupressure points for dogs date back to the Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD) and have long been used to support overall well-being.

One of the most commonly referenced points is Yin Tang. The site describes it as the "third eye" area and notes that massaging this spot may help encourage relaxation and the flow of calming energy through the body.

They also highlight the Yang Tang points, located on either side of the eyes, where the skull slightly indents, similar to where you might rub your own temples. Applying gentle pressure here may help dogs relax quickly, with some even closing their eyes or drifting into a sleepy state. 

These techniques are typically used as a supportive measure, not as a replacement for veterinary care.

I know I'll be trying this the next time my Frenchie mix starts shaking. Because when you're sitting there with them during a storm, even a little relief feels like everything.

The Happy Doggo animal rescue in Thailand continues to grow in their mission to save and rehabilitate street dogs thanks to its founder, Niall Harbison, and his dedicated team. The animal advocate has seen more than his share of injured and abused canines, with many of them battling serious medical conditions.

Atlas the German Shepherd mix was brought to Happy Doggo's medical clinic to remove a tumor so large it literally weighed him down. The pooch's prognosis looked good after surgery but sadly, Atlas's cancer returned. Harbison and his team decided that this sweet dog deserves to live out however many days he has left to the absolute fullest.

Harbison shared the news of the dog's cancer returning in late March and officially launched Atlas's bucket list with a commitment to "spoil this boy absolutely rotten". The first item was a trip to the beach for the gentle pooch to see the ocean for the first time, followed by a scrumptious meal.

In the Instagram video from @wearehappydoggo, Harbison posted "Part 2" to the bucket list agenda with a non-negotiable aspect of the plan.

"Since we found out his cancer is back and untreatable, we have one rule," the onscreen text explained. "Make every single day his favorite day ever."

Harbison added in the caption, "We decided to stop worrying about the 'how long' and start focusing on the 'now.'”

On the menu that day was a homemade salmon dinner along with unlimited cuddles and some relaxation in the hammock. Atlas looked overjoyed by the day's events.

Atlas Lives at the Senior Retirement Village

Harbison launched the Golden Ticket Retirement Village for senior street dogs in February. These older dogs enjoy nutritious meals, receive medical care, and their own private space. They are surrounded by loving rescue staff members and lots of furry friends.

Atlas is a resident of the village and loved by the entire Happy Doggo team. He's getting the care and affection he deserves with Harbison and others devoted to him living out his dreams.

"It’s bittersweet, but seeing him this happy is everything," the caption concluded.

Being in the shelter is going to take its toll on even the happiest animals in the world. It's loud, cold, and unfamiliar there. Shelter staff are basically angels on earth, and they try so hard to make shelters feel like a safe place to stay until they can move on.

The Salt and Pepper Tales include a few other cats, but George is the most recent addition. He's been rehomed twice in his life, and both times, his spirit broke a little. He was ready to stop trusting humans forever, and then he was adopted again.

Slowly but surely, the light came back into his eyes. He's learned to live with his three other siblings, and these days, he even knows how to play! He is orange, after all. It's awesome that he's found a new family who are willing to let his orange side shine!

Three weeks old; all alone and losing weight fast. When wildlife biologists found Crimson the mountain lion cub in Southern California, they faced a tough call.

Intervene too soon and you risk separating a cub from a mama mountain lion who's coming back. Wait too long and the outcome can be just as bad.

So they watched and made multiple visits to the den. Cameras were set up. GPS tracking was enabled. They only moved in after Crimson started vocalizing persistently—his way of signaling distress—and had lost close to 10% of his body weight. His mother wasn't coming back to him.

@Oakland Zoo’s newest addition — Crimson, a 3-week-old male mountain lion cub — was rescued last Friday after being orphaned in Southern California. National Park Service staff and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife first brought Crimson to the Los Angeles Zoo in late March before he was flown to Oakland Zoo. Health exams at both zoos have been positive, with veterinary and animal care staff closely monitoring his foot after he lost several toes in the wild. Crimson is Oakland Zoo’s 33rd mountain lion rescue. Based on past experience, zoo staff say mountain lion cubs tend to thrive with a companion. After rehabilitation, the zoo plans to introduce Crimson to Clover, a female cub rescued in early March, with the goal of improving both cubs’ well-being before any eventual return to the wild.

On March 25, teams from the National Park Service and California Department of Fish and Wildlife brought him to the Los Angeles Zoo for a full medical workup. There he was given a blood work up, CT scan and complete examination. Overall, his condition wasn't bad considering what he'd endured. But vets found something troubling: Crimson had several toes missing on one paw, likely injured while he was alone in the wild.

Two days later, a volunteer transport group flew Crimson north to Oakland Zoo's veterinary hospital. He is now the 33rd mountain lion the facility has rescued—a number that shows how frequently these situations happen across California.

Mountain Lion Cubs Need Their Mothers for Over a Year to Learn Survival Skills

Here's why Crimson won't be returned to the wild: mountain lion cubs spend a year or more with their mothers learning everything they need to survive on their own. Without that solid foundation, release isn't realistic.

Instead, the Oakland Zoo plans to eventually pair him with Clover, another young rescued cub already in the zoo’s care. That companionship matters for development. The introduction will happen when Crimson's ready.

Right now, Crimson is getting bottle-fed every three hours. He’s receiving round-the-clock care and close monitoring of his injured paw. The team's doing everything possible to fill in for the mother he lost.

Crimson's road is a long one. But he's got an entire team walking it with him.

In a video shared on Reddit by u/a_takacs, we see Bruce asleep, paws twitching, face moving like he’s mid-conversation. Then you notice it. His tongue, slightly out, like he got distracted halfway through something and never fully reset.

Dogs don’t just sleep. They cycle through stages, including REM sleep, the same stage where humans dream.

During REM, the brain is active while the body is mostly still. That’s when you see paw movements, soft barks or licking motions.

So, what thing do pet parents say they'd break up with their significant other over? According to the data, 31% of pet parents (or 1 in 3 people) say they would end a relationship if their partner refused to pay $7,000 for a life-saving surgery for their pet.

The scary video, shared by @skylerbeachh, has a caption that reads, “POV: You come back after someone toured your NYC apartment to this,” and I need you to understand what “this” is. Lulu, a Tabby cat, is outside. Not just outside. On a very high ledge, outside the apartment window, casually existing as if gravity is optional.

Her mom is inside, shaking a food bowl and trying to keep her voice calm while saying, “Lulu, come on,” which might be the most controlled panic I’ve ever seen. Because what else do you even do in that moment? You cannot chase. You cannot yell. You just have to stand there and try to gently convince your kitty not to… fall off a building.

The caption continues, “I almost had a heart attack,” and yes. Same. Everyone did.

People in the comments were absolutely spiraling.

“Please tell me you cussed that realtor out. How did this even happen?” one person wrote, and honestly, valid question.

“You did such a good job staying calm. This video nearly gave me a heart attack,” another added.

“This made my stomach drop. I’m not that person, but I would genuinely complain to whoever hosted that tour,” which feels like a reasonable reaction when your cat ends up on the outside of your apartment.

“As a realtor, I can’t even comprehend this,” one commenter said, which… yeah. Same.

“The way she kept backing out was freaking me out,” and that is the part that gets you. Every tiny movement feels like it could go wrong.

And then, “Cats are so calm, it’s actually irritating,” which is painfully true. Lulu is out there like she pays rent on that ledge.

The whole situation is terrifying, and it seems that it likely happened because someone left a window open during an apartment showing. Which is one of those things you do not think about until you absolutely have to.

House showings can be risky for pets, especially cats who can slip through open doors or windows in seconds. One of the safest options is to take your cat with you during showings, even if it's a short trip.

If that is not possible, keep your kitty in a secure room or a kennel with food, water, and a litter box. A clearly closed space helps prevent accidents when strangers are coming in and out.

Make sure your cat is microchipped and wearing identification, just in case. And always communicate directly with your realtor. Let them know you have a cat and be very clear that all windows and doors must stay closed.

In a post shared on Reddit to the r/germanshepherds subreddit, her foster parent showed the incredible transformation she went through in just three months. At first glance, it’s truly hard to believe it’s the same dog in all of the pictures. From scared to happy, meek to excited, her transformation is more than just physical.

The first photo doesn’t show a dog ready for a second chance. In the kennel photo, her coat was thin, patchy and almost disappearing in places. Her posture said everything. Head low. Eyes unsure. A dog who had learned not to expect much. Her name wasn’t even Fruit Bat yet.

Her foster parent decided that Fruit Bat deserved something better than the life she had lived, and they helped transform her into the dog she is today. People Couldn’t Believe It Was the Same Dog

Fruit Bat has completely changed, and people can't stop talking about her glow-up.

But the biggest change wasn’t her coat. It was the way she stopped bracing for something bad to happen.

3 Months That Changed Everything

Despite everything she went through, this sweet girl still has so much love to give.

In just three months of foster care, the change became undeniable. Her coat started to grow back. Her weight stabilized. Her energy shifted.

Kittens are little balls of energy, and they come with all kinds of personalities. Sometimes, the smallest kittens in size have the most surprisingly large attitudes. This can be especially true for feral kittens, those who have no experience with humans and are not quite ready to trust yet.

TikTok user @cianasfosters shared a video of a small Orange Kitten who had a very big voice, and he was not afraid to use it. He's obviously been through a whole lot, which we can tell from how "spicy" or grumpy he is. And he didn't seem to want anything to do with the person who was caring for him. 

This "grouchy boy" was found during a project a cat rescue organization was undertaking, and they knew he wasn't going to understand what was happening. And they knew he wasn't going to be very happy, which is something the little kitty makes very clear, too. The way his ears are lying sideways, and the grouchy noises coming out of his mouth, are adorable. But he is being very grumpy.

It's really hard to see a cat who is so not trusting of humans because you know it's probably for some reason. A lot of the time, all you need is exactly that: time, and a few other tips to help a kitty ease up their fear and start to trust you more. 

According to AlleyCat.org, the first thing you should do when you bring home a cat who is not feeling safe is to put them in a space in the home that will be their hub, with all the things they need, and preferably quiet and away from house noise. 

From there, it's time and a lot of patience. Slowly introduce them to sounds and smells, then to sights, and go from there. 

Many dogs have both a favorite person in their family and a favorite outside of it, whether that’s a friend, a neighbor or even a delivery driver. In Joey the golden retriever’s case, it just happens to be a coffee shop barista.

This Golden Retriever Has a Plan

In a YouTube Short posted by @Joeyhowudoinn, Joey is seen hanging out just outside a coffee shop, clearly on a mission. 

His goal? Get pets from his favorite barista. The catch? Dogs aren’t allowed inside. So Joey improvises. He plants himself right by the entrance, watching the barista’s every move as his tail whips back and forth.

At one point, he casually pretends to sip water nearby. Other times, he simply lingers, making his adorable presence impossible to ignore. As the wait goes on, he starts getting a little impatient, heading back to his mom as if to say, Can you bring him out here, please?

It’s the kind of persistence only a golden retriever could pull off without seeming even slightly rude. And what do you know? It works.

Eventually, Joey’s favorite barista comes outside to greet him, and the moment is exactly what you’d expect. Tail wagging, full-body wiggles, happy barks and then the grand finale: Joey flops onto his back for belly rubs, fully leaning into the moment.

Viewers Can’t Get Enough

People watching the video were equal parts amused and impressed by Joey’s commitment.

“He knows full well how cute and irresistible he is. Little con artist,” one person wrote in the comments section.

“Barista has more will power than me—I’d have been out that door petting that baby in an instant,” another added. And honestly, they’re not wrong. It’s nearly impossible to resist a golden retriever who’s this determined to say hello.

Another viewer summed it up perfectly, imagining Joey’s inner monologue: “I want pets and you wanna pet me, just come outside and we can make each other's dreams come true.” Facts. 

Why Dogs Do This (and Why It Works)

Dogs are incredibly social animals, and many of them quickly learn which people give the best attention.

Over time, they start to associate certain places—or even specific individuals—with positive experiences, like pets, treats or praise. In Joey’s case, it’s pretty clear he’s figured out that this particular barista delivers top-tier belly rubs.

There’s also a bit of trial-and-error learning at play. Joey likely realized that sticking around increases his chances of getting attention, and now it’s simply part of his routine.

But things will hopefully change for the better for this dog by the end of the month. A campaign led by Dog the Bounty Hunter has turned that quiet reality into a public mission. The goal is simple, but heavy: find the dog who has waited the longest.

Jordan Trent, founder of Jordan’s Way (a national fundraising tour helping underfunded shelters) has teamed up with Dog the Bounty Hunter for a high-stakes scavenger hunt. From April 1 to April 30, clues are being released to help the public identify the dog. The first clue is in the video below.

Why Some Dogs Wait Years and Others Leave in Days

Most people assume dogs who wait a long time have serious behavioral issues, but that’s not usually the reason.

Age plays a huge role. Puppies leave first. Senior dogs wait.

Breed matters too. Certain breeds are adopted faster, while others are passed over because of size, reputation or energy level.

Then, there’s something harder to define. The “first impression” factor. Dogs that bark, hide or shut down in a kennel often get overlooked, even if they would be completely different in a home.

How to Join the Hunt

Clues will be released, and people will follow the leads. Each step narrows down the identity and location of a dog most of the country has never seen. For once, attention is being directed exactly where it’s needed.

The scavenger hunt runs through April, with clues released online through the campaign. You can follow updates, share posts and help track down leads about long-term shelter dogs across the country.

Even something as simple as sharing a post increases the chances that the right person sees the right dog. And sometimes, that’s all it takes.

It's been a long road to parenthood for the beloved Bald Eagle couple, Jackie and Shadow, but the news coming out of their California nest this past weekend couldn't have been better: two tiny and fabulously fuzzy eaglets were born, one Saturday, April 4, and the other on April 5th, just in time for Easter morning. According to the birth announcement on National Park News, "The healthy chicks are a happy sight for fans of the popular 24/7 livestream of the bald eagle duo in San Bernardino National Forest."

The babies are just days old and thankfully doing well, according to a different video on the official Friends Of Big Bear Valley (FOBBV) account. "Jackie and Shadow’s little eaglets are looking eager and strong. It’s going to be a beautiful, sunny day in Big Bear Valley to watch our Eagle family!"

Eaglets enter the world completely helpless—think wobbly, blind-ish, and 100% dependent on their parents for everything from warmth to their next bite of food. Hatching itself can take hours (sometimes close to two days), and once they’re out, the real work begins.

In those early days, parents carefully tear food into tiny pieces, essentially hand-feeding while the eaglet figures out how to hold its head steady. Growth happens fast. Within a couple of weeks, they can lift their heads; by three weeks, they’re already about a foot tall with impressively oversized feet and beaks.

Feathers—and independence—come in stages. Around three to four weeks, soft gray down appears, followed by darker juvenile feathers between three and six weeks. By about four to six weeks, eaglets can stand and even start tearing into food themselves.

By six weeks, they’re nearly as big as their parents, and by eight weeks, they’re eating constantly and testing out their wings (literally). Around nine to ten weeks, they start “branching”—venturing out onto nearby limbs—which leads to their first flight between 10 and 14 weeks.

Even after fledging, they stick close to home for another month or so, practicing flying and learning to hunt. Because while they may look like mini adults by then, surviving on their own—especially that first winter—is a whole different challenge. But thanks to these incredible livestreams, we'll be watching Jackie, Shadow, and their eaglets every step of the way.
