Doug exceeds all expectations for what "gorgeous" even means, because WOW! Between his petite, Pom-shaped frame, his beautiful merle Aussie coat, and the heterochromia—one icy blue and one brown eye—he's absolutely perfect!

Why Your Current Crate Might Be Too Small for 2026

IATA has a specific formula for calculating the minimum container dimensions for animals traveling by plane in the cargo area:

• A: Length of animal from the tip of the nose to the base/root of tail
• B: Height from the ground to the elbow joint
• C: Width across the shoulders or widest point (whichever is greater)
• D: Height of your pet in natural standing position from the top of the head or the ear tip to the floor (whichever is higher)

Once you get these measurements for your dog, you can input the numbers into the following formulas to determine the appropriate crate size for your dog. Per the IATA, the minimum internal container dimensions for a single animal are as follows:

• Container length = A + ½ B
• Container width = C x 2
• Container height E = D + bedding

The New Standards for 4-Sided Airflow

In 2026, the IATA requires ventilation on all four sides of the carrier. Specific standards for this ventilation include the following:

• Openings on the sides and back must be located over the upper two-thirds of the crate. Additional ventilation can also be added on the lower third of the front and the back of the container.
• The entirety of one end of the container must be made of welded wire mesh. This can include the door. Do note though that this welded wire mesh insert that is covering any ventilation openings must be securely fixed to the crate. This is so that your pet can't remove it.
• Nose- and paw-proof ventilation openings are key. Also, make sure that there is no access to any surface or edge that they could potentially gnaw on or scratch.
• The crate must have proper vent coverage. At least 16 percent of the total surface area of the four crate walls needs to be ventilated.
• Ventilation holes must be the correct size: For dogs, this is no larger than 1 inch by 1 inch.

The Structural Requirement That Most Owners Miss

One structural requirement that most owners miss is that plastic crates must be secured with all-metal nuts and bolts, not plastic snap clips or pins. These plastic parts are strictly prohibited. Your crate will be rejected if you don't use the metal reinforcements, so plan accordingly and review that information carefully while shopping for your dog's crate.

The TikTok from @atldogs told Rocky's story, where the precious Pittie is described as a total sweetheart.

Boone the Bernese Mountain Dog is so stunning. He looks like that because he's actually a Great Pyrenees/Bernese Mountain Dog mix! You can see a little bit of the Great Pyrenees in his snout, and obviously in his epic coat color, but that's pretty much it. The rest of him is total Bernese!

Some kitties were always meant to lead a pack of pets, and Charles is among them. When first introducing a barn cat to a farm herd, be prepared to go slow.

Shortly after this adorable Pit Bull foster puppy named Piglet got adopted by his foster family (making them his forever family), he decided to give them a real scare when he needed critical surgery for an intestinal blockage.

The Pit Bull puppy's surgery was required after he ate what they believed was part of a rubber toy and the tip of a pine cone. So little Piglet had to have emergency intestinal surgery.

Piglet survived and has been recovering at home since then, and recently, he got a very special recovery package.

Why Recovery Support Matters for Dogs After Surgery

Once Piglet was out of the hospital, he was most likely out of immediate danger, and his post-surgical treatment was absolutely vital for his recovery.

For dogs to recover after surgery, they need to be in a calm, therapeutic environment.

Turkeys don't get enough credit for being absolute show-offs. People act like they are just awkward birds with dramatic timing and questionable voices. The video opens on what is clearly not his first appearance at the Chick-fil-A window. The second the car pulls into line, he's already warming up for his performance. His person practically has to check the roster like this is a regular customer situation, asking if Alicia is working because, yes, Goose would like to know if his favorite girl is on shift before he commits to the full happy dance.

That detail alone is enough to send me.

My dogs love almost all foods. The letter Tom left at the Fort Worth Fire Station 8 alongside his beloved pit bull,Jake, explained the tragic situation. Tom is a U.S. military veteran who’s currently experiencing homelessness. While working to get his life back on track, he could no longer provide the care his fur baby, Jake, needed. The impossible decision broke his heart, but the "Safe Place" sign at the station gave him hope.

The Fort Worth Fire Department has adopted a dog recently left at their station by a veteran experiencing homelessness who could no longer care for the animal. The station worked to find a home for Jake before ultimately deciding to adopt the dog as one of their own. Now, the Fort Worth FD is working with Jake's former owner to get him medical assistance and a place to live through their HOPE Team.

One firefighter described his reaction when reading Tom's letter: "Touched my heart. I think all the guys here at the station were moved by it."

Jake is living his best life. But the story doesn't end with just finding Jake a home. The Fort Worth Fire Department also reached out to help Tom, too.

"While the guys here at Station 8 have done a great job with Jake, my team's thing is for those experiencing homelessness," a team member explains. "So we've met with him, we're getting connected to the resources that he needs, and hopefully getting his life back on track."

Through their HOPE Team, the department is working to get Tom medical assistance and housing.

The adorable clip from the TikTok account @mary.olsen261 shows Duke gently picking up the little kitten, carrying him over to his dog bed, and curling up around him protectively.

The caption perfectly explains the situation:

Some puppies are so cute and fluffy that it’s hard to imagine what they’ll eventually grow into. At first, they have blue eyes, fur that seems glued down, and paws that seem far too big for whatever they will eventually grow into. But then they do grow into those features, and when you think back to their puppy days, the journey to adulthood and the changes the puppy went through make sense. TikTok user Lila (@aliltosty) shared a video of her beautiful dog, a very interesting and unusual mix of two very different breeds. It's hard to see at first what two breeds this adorable pup is a mix of when he's chewing on his toy while lying on the blanket. But the second the clip changes to a video of the same dog standing, and we can see his whole body, that's when the whole thing makes sense. 

This dog is "built like a coffee table" because he's a mix of a giant Newfoundland, which we can see in his beautiful coat, and a Corgi. And there is no mistaking the Corgi genes in him when we get that whole-body look.

Newfoundland Dogs Are Known for Their Charming Personalities

There's no question this pup is an interesting breed mix we don't see very often. They look very different from each other, with one being far larger than the other. But Corgis and Newfoundland dogs have one thing in common: a charming personality. 

According to the American Kennel Club, Corgis are known for being "loyal, affectionate, and smart," and the Newfoundland dog is described as "devoted, sweet, and patient." The two are very similar in their affection for family and their good nature with young kids, but they differ in their barking levels, with the Corgi being far chattier than the Newfoundland. 

With this cute pup being a perfect mix of the two breeds, it's kind of a guessing game to see whether he will inherit the barking level traits of his Corgi half or his Newfoundland half. 

Birds deserve just as much special attention as their more stereotypical pet counterparts.

Sweet Pea, a beloved Cockatoo, was adopted by Wendy Albright off of Craigslist in 2020. When Wendy brought Sweet Pea into her home, she had almost no feathers and copious amounts of plucking damage to her body. Because of the severity of the damage, specifically to her wing follicles, unfortunately Sweet Pea has permanently lost her ability to fly.

But her new mom has the perfect solution to make sure Sweet Pea still gets ample opportunity to stretch her wings. Literally.

As shared on TikTok, Wendy will take Sweet Pea out and about in a harness and leash, letting the Cockatoo walk alongside her and even mimic flying while on her arm. She even brings her other parrot, an African Grey named Brody, along with in a backpack so he gets some fresh air, too.

Over time and with care, most of Sweet Pea's feathers have regrown and her spirit has clearly returned. She visibly loves her walks outside and as Wendy said, "Watching her flourish and enjoy the outdoors makes me so happy."

Sweet Pea is an utter internet sensation helping garner almost 50 million likes to Wendy's TikTok account alone. While Wendy does share her other pets, Sweet Pea in particular took off (no pun intended) when a video of her affection for dogs went mega-viral in 2021 and 2022. The latter has been viewed over 69 million times, making Sweet Pea a digital household name. Wendy features her prominently on TikTok, as well as on YouTube.

Living very much up to her name, it's clear Sweet Pea is just the sweetest little soul. Her affectionate and happiness jumps out, even from behind a screen. With so many devoted fans online and a mother who will clearly do anything for her, hopefully the remainder of Sweet Pea's like is as sweet as she deserves.

When you rescue a dog, the main thing you want to do is make them feel like a "regular" dog. They may have had a really rough start in life, so it will be tough to get them to adapt to life in a forever home, but in time, they get there.

One rescued Pit Bull has definitely made herself comfortable in her forever home. Her mom lets her sleep in bed with her, which is wonderful, except that this princess has formed a lot of opinions about her pillow situation:

Jaycee Bri and her pup, whose name hasn't been shared on TikTok yet, are living their best lives together. Jaycee rescued the dog from a terrible situation, according to her; she says her previous home had been super abusive.
