You know when a dog decides they’ve had enough, and there is going to be a response? Not a bark. Not a whine. A full escalation. That is exactly what is happening here.

Even though this situation looks funny, leaving a dog alone in a car can get dangerous very quickly. Temperatures inside a vehicle can rise much faster than people expect, even on mild days, and it can become unsafe within minutes.

Dogs can overheat easily, especially breeds with thicker coats or shorter snouts, and they rely on panting to cool down. In a hot car, that process becomes much less effective, which can lead to serious health risks.

There is also the stress factor. Even if the temperature is safe, being alone in a confined space can make some pups anxious or reactive, which can lead to behaviors like barking, pacing, or… apparently honking the horn.

The safest option is always to take your dog with you or leave them at home in a comfortable environment. Because while this pooch found a very creative way to call for help, not every situation ends this well.

The kittens are rescues from Kittens In The Mitten, Inc., a nonprofit based in West Michigan run by John himself.

According to him, the kittens had already destroyed their previous tent enclosure and couldn’t quite be trusted to roam freely without supervision. So, while he set up a new one, they earned themselves a brief stint in the tub (no water included).

Tiny Escape Artists (or At Least Trying to Be)

Inside the bathtub, the kittens are far from defeated. One by one, they try to scale the smooth walls, only to slide back down in the most uncoordinated, adorable way possible.

Meanwhile, one orange kitten—the alleged “ringleader”—seems completely unbothered, happily playing around while the others plot their next move.

Naturally, the comment section had a field day.

Which means Joey did not slowly warm up to these people. He did not cautiously sniff around and decide they seemed fine. He saw a large group of unfamiliar humans and apparently thought, yes, this is my fan base now.

And honestly? Fair.

He is not off to the side. He is not awkwardly in the frame by accident. He is seated like the main attraction, as if everyone else in the photo is lucky to be included in his press materials. The confidence is absurd. The social ease is unreal. Joey looks like the kind of dog who would sign a headshot with a paw print and keep moving.

One of the comments says, “My dog was more popular than me, people used to visit my house to spend time with the dog.🤣” and that feels extremely possible here. Another says, “He knows he’s the star of the show 🌟” and yes, that is exactly the issue. Joey absolutely knows.

He has that Golden superpower of making strangers feel like old friends in about 4 seconds. Some pups are friendly. Joey is politically gifted. He could probably cut a ribbon at a grocery store opening and have the whole town emotional by lunchtime.

It is not just a dog in a funny situation. It is a dog with outrageous charisma. Joey is giving celebrity meet-and-greet energy. He is giving beloved mayor. He is giving the one guy at the party who somehow knows everybody and still has time to look amazing in photos.

Meanwhile, my dog Lola would have handled this very differently. She would have barked at the group, barked at the camera, barked at the idea of group photography as a concept. We are working on it. So yes, Joey’s effortless “everyone loves me because obviously” energy is especially impressive from where I'm sitting.

The pretty kitty was taking a stroll outside, just minding his own business in the TikTok from @marvenus2424. With each step he took, an aggressive Mockingbird intermittently swooped down and purposely bumped into him. Apparently, this was not the first time the bird had a bone to pick with the orange feline.

"This bird is always bothering my cat," the caption explained. "I'm not sure if he wants to play or he just hates them."

Despite the mockingbird's persistent pecks, the feline was completely unfazed. He didn't speed up his pace or even turn around to give an angry look. The fur baby took his time with each step and paid no attention to the pesky bird.

Followers were amazed at how relaxed and unruffled the orange cat was during the contentious interaction and wanted his secret to serenity.

Interesting Facts About the Otterhound

Kraken is such a beautiful dog, and we can definitely see his silly personality shine in this video, too, which is pretty common for this breed.

The American Kennel Club describes the Otterhound as being "even-tempered, amiable, and boisterous," and they can grow to weigh up to 115 pounds, so they're big pups. They're very affectionate, though, landing at the top of the scale and are in the middle for being good with kids and other dogs.

These used to be significantly more common when hunting otters was a thing way back in medieval England, when they were a popular breed for hunting. They're great swimmers and have all the features that make swimming easy for them, including a dense coat and webbed feet.

We think Kraken is a really stunning dog, and even though his breed's not that popular, being one of the rarest dog breeds is cool, too, and he's an unforgettable one.

Cane Corsos may be known for their massive size and imposing presence, but this dog breed is fiercely loyal. They make excellent guard dogs and are known to be icy with strangers. A social media-famous Cane Corso named Dave is defying the breed’s reputation.

Described by his humans as a dog who goes “literally everywhere,” Dave recently hoisted himself on top of a coffee counter, as if he’s a human saddling up to order his favorite latte. Dave may be a big dog, but he’s proving Cane Corsos are actually pussycats at heart, judging by the way he interacts with his buddies.

The American Kennel Club recently released its annual list of most popular dog breeds, and the Cane Corso jumped from No. 14 in 2024 to No. 11 in 2025. What dog lands at No. 1, you ask? I've heard of goat yoga, but goat massage is a new one for me – and for them, too, apparently. In this hilarious TikTok, two baby goats are filmed happily climbing all over one of their humans, providing the farmer inadvertently – and unskillfully – with a massage-ish experience.

The caption reads: "Just trying to treat my partner with a romantic night in..." which is pretty much the opposite vibe of this DIY goat spa.

Baby Goats As Roommates?

Anyone seeing this video can't help but notice that this activity is happening inside the family home, with the kids climbing freely on the dining room table, etc. While this clip makes rooming with baby goats seem both fun and funny, I wondered whether it was actually possible, not to mention a good idea. The following advice from this blog post helped shed some light on the subject.

The biggest thing to understand is that goats are outdoor animals, through and through. They’re natural grazers who need constant access to vegetation and space to roam, climb, and explore. Keeping them inside takes away those essential instincts and can quickly impact their physical and mental well-being.

There are also some very practical issues. Goats are messy, difficult (read: nearly impossible) to house train, and they mark territory with urine, feces, and scent. Add in their strong natural odor, and an indoor setup becomes… less than ideal, fast.

Space and social needs matter, too. Goats are active and require room to move, plus they’re herd animals that need companionship. A single goat in a house is likely to become bored, stressed, and destructive—think counters, cabinets, and anything remotely snack-adjacent.

There are also health considerations. Goats can carry parasites and diseases that are better managed in an outdoor environment, making indoor living a risk for both animals and humans.

That said, there are exceptions. Very young, elderly, or sick goats may temporarily need indoor care for warmth, monitoring, or frequent feeding. In those cases, a clean, contained setup (like a crate or designated area) can be helpful—but it should always be short-term.

It seems the takeaway is that goats aren’t indoor pets. They thrive outside, with space to roam, other goats for company, and an environment that lets them be exactly what they are: not massage therapists.

In the TikTok from @milathegirlydoodle, Mila was lying on the ground reading a book — a Colleen Hoover novel, to be precise — and appeared to be in a library. Whether it was a public place or a room at home, there is apparently a rule to be quiet while reading.

The precious pooch let out a bark and was reprimanded by her parents, with her dad giving her a firm "no" command. Mila stared at them with a look of surprise on her face. Then, she realized she wasn't supposed to make any noise, but still wanted to communicate.

Mila opened her mouth to vocalize a tiny "whisper bark" to get her point across while keeping the rule of silence. Barely any sound came out but she seemed satisfied with her statement.

Even though there’s a lot going on in your life, according to vets, taking the time to just be with your pet and enjoy their company can go a long way toward making them happier. “Many dogs appreciate human interaction and it’s one of the activities they look forward to the most,” Warner says. “Even just a short playtime can make them feel happy and secure.”

"Dogs are social animals, and their bond with you means everything to them," explains Nita Vasudevan, DVM, a veterinarian at Embrace Pet Insurance. “That focused attention, whether it’s petting, talking to them or just sitting together, helps reduce their anxiety and builds a sense of security. In veterinary medicine, we can see a lot of behavior issues improve simply when dogs get more intentional time with their people.”

A consistent routine

One of the simplest ways to make your dog even happier comes down to their routine. Knowing what’s next is important for dogs, according to Vasudevan. “Dogs thrive on predictability,” she says. “Feeding, walks and bedtime happening around the same time each day helps them feel safe because they know what to expect.”

When routines are irregular, she says a dog will show more stress-related behaviors like whining, pacing or even gastrointestinal issues. Warner agrees. “When there’s routine, they won’t be anxious figuring out what’s next or coming for them in the next few minutes,” she says.

Sniffing

One habit that improves dog behavior happens to do with their nose. In fact, sniffari walks are popular for the reason that they bring joy to your dog. “Sniffing is mental enrichment,” Vasudevan says. “Letting them stop and smell on walks engages their brain in a really important way.” In fact, she says that a short walk with lots of sniffing can be more satisfying to your pup than a longer, rushed walk. “Just make sure there are no potential hazards in the area,” Warner says. 

Dedicated exercise time

Another habit that can make your dog feel happy? Veterinarians recommend getting them proper exercise! While taking your dog along on your walks is great, exercise focused on your pup’s needs is especially good for your pet’s mood, according to Warner. “Exercise that is specifically designed for the pet is essential for their happiness as well,” she says. “Physical exercise is essential for their health and well-being and allows them to use up excess energy.”

Warner notes it can also help to eliminate destructive behavior and Vasudevan agrees. “Many behavioral concerns, like destructive chewing or hyperactivity, are often tied to not getting enough exercise and stimulation,” she says.

Constant positive reinforcement training

One more simple way to bring joy into your dog's life comes down to how you speak to them. That's why positive reinforcement is huge with training. “Training isn’t just about obedience. When dogs are rewarded for good behavior, they learn faster and feel more secure because they understand what’s expected of them,” Vasudevan says. 

Plenty of play time

Play time allows your pet to unwind and just be a dog. “Play time forms a healthy part of the life of a pet and provides an avenue for the pet to express itself and have fun,” Warner says. “For many pets, playtime forms a major part of the source of happiness and a key part of the bond that forms between the pet and the owner.”

Play time also strengthens your relationship with your pet and gives your dog the chance to engage in natural behaviors like chasing or tugging, Vasudevan says. “Dogs that play regularly tend to be more relaxed and less prone to boredom-related issues,” she adds.

"When those things are present, dogs relax because they don’t feel responsible for making decisions themselves," Murphy says. "Instead, dogs will be more confident because they know someone else is in charge. When those things are not present, dogs become anxious, fearful and will start to display behavior issues. Those issues are symptoms of the problem."

"In unfamiliar environments, dogs who trust their handler will often look to them for direction," Murphy points out. "Instead of rushing ahead or reacting first, they wait for cues from you before deciding how to respond. They look to you as their advocate in the world and as their human who will keep them safe."

So the next time you catch your pup behaving this way, know they are letting you know they think you are a good dog owner and they have a strong dog-owner bond wth each other.

5. Waiting calmly at doorways

Waiting calmly at a doorway is a skill that doesn’t come naturally to most dogs, because it requires impulse control and respect for dog training guidance. However, Murphy says that if your companion does this, it’s a clear sign of trust and good leadership in your relationship.

“A dog who pauses and waits at the door instead of charging out is showing impulse control, respect, and obedience,” Murphy explains. “This kind of positive dog behavior often develops when dogs learn that you control access to exciting things like walks and the outside world."

6. Soft eye contact

Learning to read your dog’s body language can reveal subtle signs that your dog sees you as a good leader. One of the most heartwarming is soft eye contact.

“Relaxed eye contact between a dog and their owner is a sign of trust, affection and connection,” Murphy explains. “It’s different from fixation, when a dog is 'locked on' to a trigger. Soft eye contact usually means the dog feels secure, comfortable, and confident with the person they’re looking at.”

7. Choosing to rest near you

Yes, dogs will show you that you are a phenomenal "head honcho" in their sleep. In fact, one of the sweetest signs your dog trusts you and sees you as a good leader is when they choose to rest or sleep near you. "Dogs who feel safe with their handler often choose to sleep or relax nearby," Murphy says. "It’s not about dependence. It’s simply that dogs gravitate toward the people they trust the most—just like we do."

It might sound weird, but there is actually a reason people think dogs look like their humans. Studies have shown that people are often drawn to dogs who resemble them in some way, whether it’s hair type, coloring, or even facial features.

For example, someone with long hair might subconsciously choose a dog with long ears or flowing fur. Someone with sharper features might be drawn to a pooch with a more angular face. It’s not something most people do on purpose, but it happens more often than you’d think.

There’s also the personality factor. Over time, dogs and their humans tend to mirror each other’s expressions, habits, and energy. So even if they didn’t start out looking alike, they can begin to feel alike, which somehow makes the resemblance stronger.
