Boston Terrier’s Response to 'Bring One Toy' Is Pure Chaos
Dogs often have their own interpretation of what they think we mean, no matter the circumstances. Half the time, they're just so cute, we let them do whatever they want.
In Gertie's case, that means changing Mom's "bring one toy onto the couch" into something a lot more hilarious. This is one clever Boston Terrier made for a management role, because she's CEO energy all day!
@chadwick.gertieShe lost count somewhere between one and six 🙃 #dog #doglife #dogmom #bostonterrier #dogsoftiktok
♬ Little Things - Adrián BerenguerAs a dog mom myself, I applaud Gertie's ambition here. She didn't hear "one toy," and if she did, she's adorable, and the rules shouldn't apply. I appreciate the fact that she's committed to looking so meek and innocent, like she did nothing wrong, because she did everything right (dogs, take notes)!
This is why everyone's head over heels for Gertie, and many took to the comments on her behalf, with some proudly proclaiming she should be allowed to bring them all, and I agree! Look how sweet she is, surrounded by them. It's not even the cutest thing she's done recently.

While other pups are digging holes in the backyard or chewing up their mom's favorite slippers, Gertie is just a sleepy girl in the world, forced to dance the night away so she'll stay awake past 6 p.m. Honestly, this is all of us every Monday, amIright?!
@chadwick.gertieMaybe a different style of dance would work better??? #dance #dancing #dog #dogsoftiktok #bostonterrier
♬ Austin Powers Theme (Soul Bossa Nova) - N.Y. Jazz Orchestra How Stuffed Animals Help DogsNot every dog is as obsessed with a stuffed friend the way Gertie is, but for those who are, it's intense! I have two pups, and only one of them has an affinity for stuffies, mostly for nibbling on when he's feeling anxious. Before rescuing him, I didn't know all the ways having something like that helps—especially when they're rescued from the chaos of a shelter.
Stuffed toys offer comfort to stressed-out or lonely pups while providing an outlet for their instinct to chew on something. The mental stimulation alone is enough reason to offer an abundance of plush options, especially if we have to leave them for any amount of time.
Gertie has the right idea. The more stuffies, the better. In fact, sorry, Mom, but there's no limit on how many are enough!

Shih-Tzu Sweetly 'Walks' Blind Fur Baby Brother Like a Self-Appointed Seeing Eye Dog
Dogs are natural caretakers. They can sense when someone is sad or in need of support and often step in to give comfort and any assistance they can provide. The compassion these canines have makes them wonderful service and therapy dogs.
Ella the Shih-Tzu is a perfect example of this empathy, where she took it upon herself to guide her blind brother Duke when they were on a walk.
@malpaldohDuke normally rides in the stroller on our walks nowadays, but last night he was jumping out of the stroller trying to walk on his own, so we let Ella “walk him” and our hearts melted 🥹 #fyp #foryou #dogsoftiktok #shihtzu #blinddog
♬ My Blueberry Life (Demo) - Current JoysIn the TikTok from @malpaldoh, Ella walked a distance ahead of Duke and looked very confident in where she was going. The dog leash was clipped to Ella at one end in front, with Duke secured on the other end behind her. Ella didn't know she'd be serving as a seeing eye dog for the day, but the precious pooch was more than happy to step up.
"A wholesome moment: our blind dog being walked by his sister," the onscreen text explained.
The caption went into greater detail of how their daily strolls are usually handled. "Duke normally rides in the stroller on our walks nowadays," the caption shared. "But last night, he was jumping out of the stroller trying to walk on his own, so we let Ella 'walk him' and our hearts melted."
Followers were moved by Ella's selfless act and the strong bond between the fur baby siblings.
"I’m crying — I have a blind dog named Ellie. This is so sweet," one gushed.
"This is so heartwarming to see," another remarked.
"That’s one good sister," a follower noted.
"They're nothing but heart and love and loyalty!!" someone posted.
How Dogs Show EmpathyDogs may not be able to talk, but their love language speaks volumes. Their gentle and kind actions show the enormous capacity for compassion these canines possess.
A dog's mere presence can be healing. They give comfort with lots of snuggles and being by their loved one's side.

Nobody Expected What This Stray Cat Brought Back 3 Months Later
The stray Tabby cat in this video has apparently been quietly running a long-term emotional operation for months now, because the ending completely wrecked people online.
A woman shared the touching moment when she discovered the neighborhood stray peacefully sleeping at her doorstep with her head resting directly on top of a tiny toy mouse she had been given months earlier.

“On that day, I gave her a toy mouse.”
Then came the part that made everyone emotional.
“Three months later, I found her like this.”

The clip shows the beautiful Tabby cat curled up outside the home, fast asleep, while gently cuddling the little toy mouse like it had become one of her prized possessions.
Honestly, it feels less like a random cat video and more like the emotional climax of a tiny independent film about trust.
People in the Comments Declared That the Cat Had Officially Chosen Her Human:• “That’s your cat now.”
• “That sweetheart belongs inside.”
• “Congratulations, you’re now the property of a cat.”
• “Hey bestie, congrats on your cat.”
• “That would be the cat distribution system fully at work.”
And honestly? The cat distribution system allegations do feel very strong here.
Because the toy mouse detail somehow makes the entire thing feel incredibly intentional. Out of all the places she could sleep, she specifically curled up with the tiny gift she had been given months earlier.
Meanwhile, my Maine Coon, Meatball, also becomes emotionally attached to random toys, although, unfortunately, his preferred method of affection involves dropping them directly into his water bowl until they resemble tiny drowned potatoes.

Read on to find out everything you need to know about Bengal cats before bringing one home.
After all, before officially getting any cat it’s important to understand what life with this breed will really be like. From personality traits and care needs to costs and potential challenges, there’s a lot to consider before making a commitment to become a pet parent.
Below's your inside scoop on Bengal cats with vet insight so you can decide with confidence if this is the perfect cat breed for you or not.

What Is a Bengal Cat? A domestic hybrid Bengal cat laying down.Getty Images Kseniya Ovchinnikova
A Bengal cat is a domestic hybrid breed created by crossing an Asian leopard cat with a house cat, such as an Egyptian Mau. Bengals are known for their wild, exotic appearance and striking leopard coats, but their domestic lineage gives them affectionate, pet-like personalities.
Are Bengal Cats Domestic or Wild?Despite their exotic appearance and ancestry, Bengal cats are considered fully domestic pets. Most Bengal cats today are several generations removed from their Asian leopard cat ancestors, making them social, loving cats that thrive in home environments. While they retain high energy levels and playful instincts (including a love for playing in water), Bengals aren’t wild animals.
Bengal Cat Personality TraitsWhat's a Bengal cat's personality like? According to veterinarian Dr. Sarah Wooten, Bengals are known for being highly intelligent, athletic, curious and interactive. “This is not usually a couch-potato cat breed,” she stresses. “Bengals tend to want something to do, climb or investigate, and ideally, a human who is willing to participate.”
Domestic Bengal cats tend to be vocal companions known for their “dog-like” personalities. They require significant daily interaction and vertical space, making them a great fit for active households.
Bengals, who have a love for water, can often be found playing in the sink or shower. It’s important to give these cats plenty of enrichment, as they can easily grow bored or destructive. “Many cats enjoy play, but Bengals often need more structured enrichment than the average cat,” Wooten says. “Puzzle feeders, climbing spaces, wand toys, training games and environmental variety can make a big difference for this breed.”
How Big Do Bengal Cats Get?Are Bengcal cats big cats? Bengal cats are medium-to-large muscular and athletic felines. They generally weigh between 8-18 or more pounds, though males are typically larger. Some males can even reach up to 22 pounds. They’re known for their long, sturdy bodies and active, climbing-oriented nature.
Are Bengal Cats Good Family Pets? A family-friendly Bengal cat with its pet mom.Bengal cats are highly affectionate, intelligent and social, but their high energy needs and significant mental stimulation and playtime requirements will require a specific home life.
“Bengals can make wonderful pets in the right home, but they’re not always the best fit for someone who wants a low-maintenance, quiet and independent cat,” Wooten says. “They tend to do best with people who enjoy an active, engaged cat and are willing to provide daily play, enrichment and attention.”
That being said, Bengal cats are known for forming strong bonds with family members and will often follow their humans around or curl up beside them while sleeping at night.
“Before getting a Bengal, people should honestly ask themselves whether they want a cat that may climb, jump, explore, vocalize, open things, demand play and get into absolutely everything,” Wooten says. “For the right person, that’s part of the charm. For the wrong household, it can feel overwhelming.”
Related: Which Adorable Kitten Breed Is For You, Based on Your Birth Month
Why Bengal Cats Are So ExpensiveIf you're thinking of getting a Bengal cat, just know they are expensive. A Bengal cat from a reputable breeder can easily cost between $1,000-$5,000. These prices stem from a high demand for their exotic, leopard-like appearance, as well as significant breeding investments in top-tier pedigrees that often involve importing cats.
Bengal kittens meant for breeding or showing, or those with rare and refined patterns (like charcoal, blue or silver) can even cost as high as $10,000 or more.
Common Bengal Cat Health ProblemsBengal cats tend to be a healthy and robust breed with a lifespan of 12-16 or more years, but they’re prone to certain genetic, heart and gastrointestinal conditions. These include hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), progressive retinal atrophy (PRA-b), pyruvate kinase deficiency (PK-Def) and sensitive stomach issues that may require a specific diet.
“Like all breeds, Bengals can be predisposed to certain inherited health concerns, so responsible breeding matters,” Wooten says. “Prospective owners should look for breeders who perform appropriate health screening and are transparent about their lines.”
How To Care for a Bengal CatDomestic Bengal cats should get at least 30-60 minutes of daily active playtime, including climbing spaces and puzzle toys to satisfy their high intelligence and hunting instincts. Their high energy levels also require a high-protein diet primarily based on meat to help maintain calorie requirements.
Bengals are best-kept as indoor cats, but it’s also a good idea to give them a secure, enclosed outdoor area (such as a “catio”) where they can safely explore their surroundings. This breed is highly trainable and can learn how to play fetch or walk on a leash, which helps burn energy.
Their short coat is also low-maintenance and requires brushing just once a week.
Are Bengal Cats Legal Everywhere? While Bengal cats are legal in most places, several U.S. states, cities and countries ban or heavily restrict them due to their wild Asian leopard cat ancestry. Bengals are currently banned statewide in Hawaii and Connecticut, as well as in New York City and Seattle, WA.
Alaska, Georgia and Iowa typically require Bengals to be at least four generations removed from the Asian leopard cat ancestry, while Delaware requires a permit for Bengal ownership.
Still, if you’re up for it and your state or city allows Bengal cat ownership, this breed offers a rewarding companionship and a highly engaging, active and intelligent personality.
“Bengals are such a fascinating breed because they look wild, but they’re still very much domestic cats with very real domestic cat needs,” Wooten says. “They’re beautiful, athletic, intelligent and often a lot more ‘extra’ than people expect.”

8 Surprising Words That Get Your Dog’s Attention Every Time
Even though you and your dog communicate differently and don’t speak the same language, your pup may understand far more than you realize—including the words you say every day.
“Dogs absolutely can learn words—sometimes a lot of them,” says Alexandra Bassett, CPDT-KA, lead dog trainer at Dog Savvy Positive Dog Training. “But as non-verbal animals, they rely heavily on tone of voice, body language, facial expressions, and daily routines—often even more than the actual words themselves.”
Bassett describes dogs as “tiny detectives,” constantly observing human behavior and learning through patterns and repetition. “That’s why your dog might get excited when you casually say, ‘Wanna go for a walk?’ but also somehow knows you’re leaving the house before you say a word,” she says. “They notice the small details—your keys, your shoes, the leash, even subtle shifts in your energy or routine.”
From a dog behavior standpoint, this comes down to association. Dogs learn to connect specific words and actions with meaningful outcomes like walks, food, or attention. “The more emotionally meaningful something is, the faster dogs tend to learn it,” Bassett says.
If you’re working on dog training or trying to teach your dog new words, consistency is key. Repeating cues in the same context helps your furbaby build clear and lasting associations over time. Keep reading to discover 8 words that dogs pay attention to instantly, according to a trainer. You may be surprised!

8 Words That Dogs Pay Attention To Right Away A dog running when it hears a word it recognizes. If your dog hears certain words often in your daily routine, they quickly learn to recognize and respond to them—even before you realize it.
Dogs are highly attuned to patterns in human speech, especially words tied to routines, emotions, or rewards, which is why some simple phrases can instantly grab their attention.
“Walk”If you want to instantly get your dog’s attention, trainers recommend you use this word when communicating with them.
“Walk” is one of the strongest word associations that dogs have, according to Bassett. “Walks are the main event of the day for most dogs,” she explains. “It predicts smells, movement, exploring and maybe seeing dogs or people.” But dogs can also pick up on related words like "ready?" “leash” and “outside.”
“Cheese”When it comes to words dogs respond to, ones related to their favorite foods can improve dog recall.
If your dog loves a different treat like peanut butter or a dog cookie, you can simply swap them in for cheese. “Food is such a powerful reinforcer,” Bassett says, noting that dogs will learn “snack,” “dinner,” “breakfast” or even “pup cup” if you take your pooch to Starbucks or similar chains.
“Look”Of all the dog training tips our expert provides, she notes that saying the word "look" can be a powerful way tp get your dog to pay attention to you.
“This becomes meaningful because it usually predicts treats, engagement and teamwork,” Bassett says. “When practiced regularly, ‘look’ can become almost automatic, especially around distractions, if lots of treats are involved.”
“Daddy's home” / “Mommy's home”Many dogs quickly learn the sounds and patterns that signal when their favorite person is about to walk through the door—and these words can instantly light them up.
“Dogs often recognize cues around arrival times, like hearing ‘Daddy’s home’ when a car pulls up,” Bassett says. “Many of them get very excited because they’ve learned it means someone they love is back,” she adds.

“Frisbee”Dogs who love to play often become “obsessed” with words related to their favorite games, including “fetch,” “ball” and “toy,” Bassett says. “They predict excitement, interaction and exercise,” she points out.
So, no matter if you have a big dog or a small one, keep this word on hand the next time you want to see if your dog is listening to you.
“Good Boy” / “Good Girl”When commmunicating with your dog each day or training them, being positive is key. The best part is, when dog moms and dog dads say phrases like this, you'll notice they are words that your dog pays attention to.
“Dogs may not understand this phrase the way humans do emotionally, but they absolutely learn, ‘When humans say this in that voice…good things happen,’” Bassett says. “The tone matters a lot here.”
“Ride”For some furry companions, hearing this word is pure excitement—it can instantly grab their attention and signal something fun is about to happen.
“Some dogs hear it and think, ‘best day ever,’” Bassett says. “Others react very differently, like ‘absolutely not—veterinarian trap detected.’”
“Bath”Even if your dog isn’t a fan of bath time, this word is one they recognize instantly—and it’s great at getting their attention.
“Some dogs hear ‘bath’ and think, ‘best day ever,’” Bassett says. “Others react a little differently, but either way, they’ve learned to connect the word with something important that’s about to happen,” she adds.

Bernese Mountain Dog Poses Next to Her Perfect 'Mini-Me' Version, Making the Perfect Dynamic Duo

How To Introduce Large Dogs to PuppiesIntroducing a large dog to a puppy can seem daunting, but there is a proper way to do it.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that an instant friendship may not be forged between the two dogs, and you shouldn't force it.
Though Marlie and her mini-me look quite cordial, it can take some dogs with a big age and size difference days, weeks, or even months to become comfortable with each other, and then hopefully, they become good friends.
Here are some of the most important things to keep in mind when introducing a larger and older dog to a small puppy:
- Have a thorough knowledge of each dog's age, temperament, and background before you introduce them.
- Make sure to first introduce them on neutral territory outside the home.
- Both dogs should be on leashes to start.
- Allow the dogs to sniff and observe each other naturally.
- Be sure to observe body language to ensure the pups don't seem stressed or in fear.
- Be sure to use positive reinforcement for both dogs, such as treats and praise.
- If the interaction isn't going smoothly, separate the dogs.
- Gradually increase shared time together.
Though it's not quite clear if this is Marlie's sibling, her own puppy, or just a dog her parents adopted who's the same breed, these two will have a strong and emotional bond.

Dachshunds are extremely smart and renowned for being independent thinkers—sometimes to the point of being a tad stubborn (especially if there's nothing in it for them).
As dogs who hunted small prey like badgers on their own, Dachshunds have to be sharp and prepared to do what they think is necessary to get the job done. Sometimes it translates into ignoring their humans in exchange for what they think is best, and as you can see with Biff, it works out!
Though we can't fully measure a dog's intelligence the way we can with humans, these pups are not known to be fast learners, but they've been shown to be resourceful through stellar problem-solving skills and resourcefulness, unlike many other breeds.
Dachshunds are also good at reading us, though they're going to want something to motivate them to do as we say. These aren't usually the people-pleasing type, but they sure are cute. If you're ever near Barton Springs and catch Biff in his natural element, you'll know all you need to about how intelligent these adorable dogs really are (and tell him we said hi)!

These 2 Heeler Dogs Perfectly Capture the Chaos of Having a Brother
Heelers are already one of the most sibling-coded dog breeds on earth. They're smart, fast, nosy, and just annoying enough to make sure nobody around them ever gets too comfortable. They don't simply exist near each other. They monitor, provoke, test limits, and generally act like they were put on this planet to keep household peace at a manageable zero. So when two Heeler brothers get on a boat, and one of them decides the best use of his time is to launch himself directly onto the other, it feels less like a surprise and more like a documentary.
This video is exactly that.
View this post on InstagramWe see the two brothers standing on the back of a boat, already looking like they're planning nonsense. The black Heeler jumps off first, and for one perfect beat, the red Heeler waits. That tiny pause is what makes it art. Then he goes straight in after him, practically on top of his poor brother, with a face that says he absolutely knew what he was doing and would like no follow-up questions at this time.
The whole thing is in slow motion, too, which somehow makes it even meaner and funnier.
You can really see the calculation.
The post plays it as a little brother problem, and honestly, yes. Boat season is apparently here, and so is the deeply specific irritation of having a sibling who can't just let a moment exist without body-checking it into comedy. One person in the comments basically said the red Heeler knew exactly what he was doing, and that's the only possible interpretation. There's nothing accidental about that jump. That was targeted chaos.
View this post on InstagramI have three older brothers, so I recognized the energy immediately. The sly timing. The smug little pause. The full confidence that if you make life harder for your sibling in a funny enough way, it somehow becomes socially acceptable. The red Heeler absolutely has brother instincts. Strong ones.
And that's why the clip works.
It's not just two dogs being wild on a boat. It's a perfect little sibling dynamic caught in one move. One brother tries to exist. The other says absolutely not. The fact that they are Heelers just makes it sharper, because these dogs already come with the kind of intense, mischievous intelligence that turns every interaction into a tiny strategy game.
This one just happened to end with an airborne tackle.
Some families pass down recipes.
Some pass down a need to be a menace.
View this post on Instagram Why Heelers Play So Rough With Each OtherHeelers, or Australian Cattle Dogs, are high-drive working dogs, and that intensity doesn't just disappear because they are off the clock. The AKC describes them as alert, curious, and extremely intelligent, which helps explain why their play can look so physical, fast, and just a little bit personal.
That red Heeler didn't jump on his brother by accident. He saw an opportunity, honored the family tradition, and committed to being the problem.

10 Golden Retriever 'Secrets' Only Long-Time Owners Understand
As one of America’s most popular dog breeds, the golden retriever is a well-known dog that can’t help but bring a smile to anyone’s face. An active dog, the golden retriever isn’t a pup that enjoys just lounging around (well, sometimes). In fact, these dogs are known for their knack for getting into trouble because of their high energy levels.

While it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what kind of personality your golden retriever will have, there are a few ‘secrets’ from golden retriever parents that might give you an inside look at what you may expect from this loyal breed.
This isn't the type of information you can find in any informational pamphlet or on a website. These ‘secrets’ can only be learned after years of caring for a golden, and they can give potential pet parents a fair warning of what it's really like having this silly breed around.

Here's what golden retriever pet parents think you should know about this beloved breed.
They Can Be Really NeedyAlthough this can apply to most breeds, golden retriever owners agree that this breed doesn’t enjoy being left alone. According to replies to this Reddit post, several owners have gotten used to their ‘shadows,’ which follow them from room to room. Get ready to say goodbye to your personal space!
You Will Meet Plenty of StrangersBecause golden retrievers are a widely loved breed, it's not uncommon to see a crowd surrounding any golden in sight. For prospective pet parents, be ready to answer all questions about your golden and get to meet your neighbors and strangers on every walk.
The Shedding Will Never EndWhile there are plenty of great grooming kits on the market, golden retrievers love to sprinkle their "golden glitter" in every room. Be ready to find fur in any and every crevice of your home.
They Can Never Have Enough Toy BallsGolden retrievers love a good game of fetch, and we mean they LOVE it. Be ready to buy tennis balls in bulk because they will get lost or torn before the end of the day.
They Have Strong ChompersDon't let their angelic faces fool you—golden retrievers love a good chomp. Whether it's your ankles, furniture, the floor, or even the wall, these puppies will try to take a bite out of everything. While they are meant to grow out of this phase, you might also have a lifelong chomper.
Goldens Love the OutdoorsIt's all fun and games on walks until you come across a giant mud puddle. Not afraid of getting dirty, goldens will find a way to bathe themselves in mud just to finish off with a grass twirl.
They Love a Good SockNo sock is safe when there is a golden retriever around. Be ready to find pairs missing or having to chase your golden around the living room with your sock hanging from their mouth. While no one knows exactly why, a love of socks is a well-known golden trait.
You Will Need to Be on Bathroom AlertUntil they are properly trained (if ever), golden retrievers have a few signs that it's time to get them outside STAT. Is the tail up? Time to potty. They start sniffing for more than a few seconds? Get them outside. They start wiggling their butt out of nowhere? You only have a few seconds left.
They Love Ice CubesYou may think they're just another way to cool your drink, but for goldens, it's the ultimate treat. Water and a crunchy snack?! They are all for it.
They Will Love You No Matter WhatWhile the same sentiment can be shared by humans of other dog breeds, all of the golden retriever parents agreed on one thing: they will give you unconditional love forever. Be ready to share your life with a fluffy goofball that loves you more than you can imagine.

How to Care for Senior Golden RetrieversAngel Luciano/Unsplash
While the puppy stage involves a lot of training and patience, senior goldens are much more mellow and easygoing. Caring for a senior golden involves taking proactive approaches to their joint issues and health to ensure they remain healthy for years to come.
Once you notice your golden retriever is starting to slow down, it's time to invest in stairs or a ramp that can help alleviate their aching joints. Since they will no longer be able to jump onto furniture or your lap, you'll want to ensure they can still access their favorite spots safely.
In their advanced ages, this breed might start showing a variety of health problems, such as arthritis, vision loss and hearing loss. Ensure you are keeping up with their regular veterinary checks, as these appointments may unveil health problems before they become more serious.
Even as they slow down, you must keep goldens active. While they may no longer be able to walk as far or as fast as they once did, indoor puzzles or shorter strolls can keep them moving. Keeping them active and stimulated will help them feel better and help prevent cognitive decline.
Caring for a golden retriever of any age is hard work and requires plenty of patience. While there is undoubtedly going to be plenty of tough moments in your journey, you can be sure that it will pay off with this adorable breed.

Horse’s Gentle Goodbye to Senior Husky Before Her Final Farewell Has People in Tears
The hardest part about loving a pet is saying goodbye. For animals, saying goodbye to other animals can be just as heartbreaking.
Knowing it was nearing her time to say goodbye, a senior Husky named Bianca made sure to see all of her farm animal friends one last time, bidding each a heartbreaking but loving farewell.
Video of the sweet interaction was shared to social media, pulling at the heartstrings of viewers who know all too well the sorrow of realizing an animal’s life is coming to an end.
@prettycountryfarmThis sad day has come. My sweet 18.5 year old Husky Bianca is ready to cross over. Everyone is saying their goodbyes. We will always love you, you sweet perfect Angel. #alldogsgotoheaven #sayinggoodbye #weloveyou #heavenisreal #18yroldhusky

Bianca’s health is clearly wavering, and she can barely respond to the horse’s sweet overtures, but it’s clear both Bianca and the horse know it’s time to say goodbye.
“This sad day has come,” shared Bianca’s family. “My sweet 18.5-year-old Husky Bianca is ready to cross over. Everyone is saying their goodbyes. We will always love you, you sweet perfect angel.”
“The horse knew,” responded an emotional follower. “Animals are amazing.”
Another reflected, “So precious this moment is... Bianca is beautiful.”

Do Animals Sense End of Life? @sciegsxzvapUntil we meet again at the rainbow bridge .#rainbowbridge #dog #doglover #dogmom #pet
♬ Remember Me (Lullaby) - Gael García Bernal & Gabriella Flores & Libertad García FonziWatching the horse’s interaction with Bianca, it’s natural to wonder whether the horse is truly aware that Bianca’s last days are near. Experts believe animals not only recognize when humans are dying, but may also sense when other animals are approaching the end of their lives.
However, there is no evidence that animals understand the concept of death itself. More likely, animals sense changes in another animal’s body language, scent, breathing patterns and body chemistry — all indicators that an animal is nearing the end of its life.
Here, the horse may not understand death, but it likely senses the physical and emotional changes Bianca is experiencing, as well as her shift in energy and demeanor.
That’s when another animal’s empathy can kick in. Animals have been known to howl or wail when a nearby animal passes away and will often gently nudge a dying human or animal.
Some animals may distance themselves from a dying companion. Not here, though. This Husky is being lovingly given a beautiful goodbye.
Rest easy, Bianca. You will be missed.

Peanut Butter Flavored Decorated Dog Treats, $4.49 at Trader Joe's Dog Days of Summer Peanut Butter Flavored Decorated Dog TreatsThe first of many summer releases expected to hit Trader Joe's’s pet lineup this year, these Peanut Butter Flavored Decorated Dog Treats are so visually appealing you’d almost wish they were made for humans. Sold in a 6.76-ounce bag for $4.49, each treat is made with a wheat flour base and hand-decorated into a variety of colorful summer shapes.
You’ve got watermelon slices, ice cream cones, palm trees and baseball-inspired bones, all tucked inside a transparent resealable bag so you can easily keep an eye on what’s left inside. Even better, each treat is roughly two inches long, making them perfectly sized for the big dogs of the house while still easy to break into smaller pieces for the little ones in the family.
Why Do Dogs Love Peanut Butter So Much?If you’re a fan of peanut butter yourself, it’s pretty easy to see why a dog would love it too. But the truth is, dogs don’t just love peanut butter because it tastes good. According to experts, they’re naturally drawn to it due in part to it being packed with protein and fat, something their bodies are wired to respond to.
On top of that, most store-bought peanut butter has some amount of sugar inside, which only makes it an even more enticing treat. Add to that its nutty scent, sticky texture and ability to elevate chew toys with a single spoonful, and it’s no wonder your furry friend can seemingly sense the jar being opened from the other side of the house.
If you’re making a TJ’s run this week, snag a bag before they disappear at the end of the season. They’ll only be around for the summer months, and we already know just how fleeting that can already be. Stock up if you have to and watch your pup’s eyes widen with joy once you break the seal and pull out the first treat.

Shelter Dog 'Having Trouble Getting Adopted' Wins Hearts Everywhere She Goes on Special Day Out
Many dogs in shelters get passed over for various reasons including age, energy level, health condition, and breed. Unfortunately, some pooches end up staying in shelters for extended periods of time, which can take a toll on their mental and physical health.
Stormy has been a resident at Best Friends Animal Society in New York City for quite some time. A shelter volunteer wanted to get her mingling, so he took her on a fun field trip and the canine cutie made a boatload of new friends.

Great Danes Can Have a Variety of Coat ColorsThis stunning pup is such a cutie with his coat that has an interesting pattern to it, and not what you might initially expect with a Great Dane. It might be surprising to learn that this dog breed can come in a variety of coat colors and patterns.
According to the Great Dane Club of Canada, Danes come in seven recognized colors, including solid and patterned varieties. This includes:
- Fawn, which is a yellow body with a black mask on the face
- Brindle, which is a golden coat with black stripes that looks like a tiger
- Solid black
- Solid blue, which looks more like a steel shade of gray
- Harlequin, which is a white coat with torn black patches all over
Boston or Mantle color is a recognized pattern described by the Great Dane Club of Canada as "marked like a penguin," and these dogs must have a white tail tip to be considered Boston or Mantle.
Then there's merle, a pale gray to dark gray base coat with torn black patches, and the mantle merle, a white solid coat with a merle blanket that extends across the body.
Of course, thanks to genetics, you can have Great Danes who have slight variations from these, like a harlequin who has more black on their coat than typical or larger white spots, or brindles with no base color (like fawn).
This sweet puppy looks like he fits the harlequin pattern, and that's why he's so unique.
Nobody Expected This Siamese Cat To Sound Exactly Like a Haunted House
The sound coming from this Siamese cat doesn't sound remotely real.
It sounds like somebody slowly opening the world’s oldest haunted house door in the middle of a thunderstorm while a ghost watches from upstairs.

♬ original sound - Dr Zoe the VetTikToker @zoethevet shared this hilarious clip showing a beautiful Siamese cat meowing right as a kennel door opens, and honestly, the sound is so bizarrely accurate that people immediately thought the squeak was coming from the door itself.
The caption perfectly explained the confusion:
“That’s the best da*n squeaky kennel door impression I have ever heard.”
Related: Deaf Cat Realizes His Mom Is Home, and the Sound He Makes Is Melting Hearts
And honestly? That may still be underselling it.
The caption continued:
“I mean, I actually thought it was the door for a hot second there.”
At Different Moments in the Clip:• The kennel door opens.
• The Siamese cat meows.
• The sound perfectly matches a squeaky hinge.
• Everyone watching immediately loses their minds.
• The cat somehow remains deeply serious throughout the entire performance.
• “Name him WD40.”
• “That’s not a cat, that’s a haunted house.”
• “That cat is hired to be my squeaky door guy.”
• “You need to copyright that sound.”
• “He has a career in Hollywood!”
Honestly, the funniest part is that Siamese cats are already famous for being extremely vocal and dramatic, but this little guy somehow unlocked an entirely new genre of cat communication.
Meanwhile, my Orange Cat, Tarkus. occasionally screams like somebody accidentally stepped on an accordion (he has dementia), so honestly, kitties continue to prove they can make sounds no living creature should naturally produce.

♬ original sound - Thomas and EricSiamese kitties are known for being one of the most talkative and expressive cat breeds. They communicate frequently with humans using loud, dramatic, and highly distinctive vocalizations.
Siamese Cats May Vocalize To:• Seek attention
• Express excitement
• Ask for food
• Respond to humans
• Show affection
• Comment dramatically on absolutely everything happening in the household
Many Siamese cats also develop unique-sounding meows that become instantly recognizable to their families.

11 Crucial Things to Know Before Owning a Giant Schnauzer (Especially #4)
The story of how I got my giant schnauzer is truly nothing but perfect timing. It was the summer of 2023, and I was probably the most depressed I had ever been. One Sunday while riding in the car with my then-boyfriend, I turned to him and said, "I think I want to get a puppy. Let's go play with some tomorrow."
After searching the pet stores online to see if there were any Black Russian terriers around (I had seen one a few weeks earlier and fell in love), there it was: A breed I had rarely seen or even heard of, but that looked nearly identical to the BRT—the giant schnauzer.

For the sake of not making this story too long, I didn't end up getting that particular giant schnauzer because it just didn't feel right, but that same night, I went searching on the American Kennel Club's website to learn everything I could about the breed. Then, after using the AKC "Find a Puppy" option, I was able to find a reputable breeder in my area. And, by Thursday of that same week, I had my first giant schnauzer (and dog as an adult), Gambit.
While I absolutely consider Gambit, who is now 3 years old, to be my "angel dog"—or "Earth angel" as some folks call them—having him has been a complete rollercoaster. From initially feeling like a huge failure to practically making him my entire world and personality, Gambit made me fall in love with the giant schnauzer breed, and I honestly couldn't see my life without him at this point.
I'd tell anyone looking for a dog that the GS is the best out there, but before you decide to jump on the train, there are a few things you should know about the giant schnauzer breed first.
Things to Know Before Getting a Giant SchnauzerHere are 11 important things to consider if you're thinking about getting a giant schnauzer.
1. No, They're Not Just a "Bigger Version of the Mini Schnauzer" View this post on InstagramWhen I tell people I have a giant schnauzer, the common response is always, "I didn't know they made them in that size!" before immediately comparing it to a mini schnauzer they once owned or that a family member has. While they are very similar in looks—the standard cut for both includes pronounced eyebrows, a long beard and a "skirt"—they are totally different in temperament.
Minis are usually incredibly vocal, while giant schnauzers are a bit calmer and mostly only bark when needed. Mini schnauzers are also a bit feisty (IYKYK), while giants on the other hand offer up a more reserved personality, only showing their fun side to those close to them.
2. They Are the Definition of a Velcro DogNi'Kesia Pannell
Before getting Gambit, I never thought I'd have a dog that had to be everywhere I was. Well, I learned very quickly that giant schnauzers (especially males) are really big Velcro dogs. To put it plainly, if Gambit could be in my skin, he would be. He genuinely has to be everywhere that I am and will come find me if I moved too fast without him or have stayed gone longer than 15-30 seconds.
Instead of getting annoyed or upset by this though, I learned to embrace it early and have literally taken Gambit every place that he could go. We are nearly inseparable, and it's so bad that the employees at our local Floor & Decor, Home Depot and T.J. Maxx all know him by name.
Related: 13 Best Dog-Friendly Beaches in Florida (Where They Can Actually Run Off-Leash)
3. They Are Great Family Pets View this post on InstagramWhen other people see big dogs, they tend to get scared and walk fast or pull their kids far away. And while I totally get it, one thing that people may be surprised to know is that giant schnauzers are actually amazing with kids.
Known to be natural protectors, the giant schnauzer—with early socialization and consistent training—will make sure that your family is safe and will give all of the affection you've been missing at the same time.
4. They Need a JobNi'Kesia Pannell
If there's one crucial thing you need to know about the giant schnauzer, it's that the breed falls under the Working Group category. What exactly does that mean? Well, by the AKC's definition, these types of dogs were "bred to assist man" and do amazing with jobs like being guard dogs, service dogs and even police/military dogs.
In particular, the giant schnauzer was bred in the 1800s to drive cattle and work as guard dogs for farmers and more. And, during World War II, the Air Force even used the breed as military working dogs!
While Gambit is neither of the above, I learned very quickly that he needed to have something to do or he would get very destructive and dismissive. So, I enrolled him in agility training, which is something they also excel at as a breed.
5. They Grow Super FastNi'Kesia Pannell
Yes, this should be expected with a "giant" dog, but you really won't expect how quickly this breed grows. The standard height for the GS is as large as 27.5 inches for males and 25.5 inches for females. Weight-wise, they typically get up to about 95 pounds and 80 pounds, respectively. But just because this is the standard doesn't mean that this is where it stops. There are some giant schnauzers out there that weigh well over 120 pounds!
Initially, Gambit grew faster than I thought he would and literally outgrew everything I purchased for him within my second or third month of having him. By the time he was about nine months, he was practically full size. After two years staying at about 75 pounds though, in his third year after neutering him (we had no choice as his was cryptorchid), he gained 20 pounds, and he's still going! It goes to show that the standard size just depends on the dog.
Related: 5 Signs You’ve Found the Perfect Dog Sitter, According to Experts
6. They're Technically Not a Giant BreedNi'Kesia Pannell
Despite the word literally being in their name, the giant schnauzer is not part of the "giant" breed. Confused? Well, let me break it down.
While giant schnauzers are very large dogs, most are not the same size as the breeds that officially fall under the "giant" category. This includes pups like the Great Dane (as pictured above on the left), the Mastiff or even the Black Russian terrier. Instead, the "giant" part of the giant schnauzer comes from it being the largest version out of the three schnauzer types (there's also a standard schnauzer in addition to the GS and Mini).
7. Grooming Bills Add Up Quick View this post on InstagramIn order to preserve the "distinguished" look of a giant schnauzer, regular grooming is a requirement; not a suggestion. And while the breed is said to be hypoallergenic, if they are not groomed regularly and in the correct way, they can shed...a lot.
While you can groom them at home, if you don't start early, trying to get them on board when they've grown in size will make for a difficult (and painful) task. But, if you're taking them to a groomer (we use an AKC-certified groomer in our area to ensure the proper look for Gambit), then your GS should have an appointment every four to six weeks. And though there are cheap places out there that will cut your giant schnauzer, if you want it done right with hand-stripping or proper clipping, be prepared for a bill upward of $100 per month (our bill is about $120 for a set appointment once per month).
8. They're Big Goofballs View this post on InstagramYes, the giant schnauzer is the most serious schnauzer out of the breed, but that doesn't mean they don't know how to have a good time. Giants are known to love to play, be extremely energetic and love to wrestle. This can sometimes be to your detriment, as they often neglect to realize how big they are, and they may cause a pretty serious injury like a black eye, busted lip or even a concussion (yes, I know these things from experience).
Giant schnauzers are still in "puppyhood" up until they are about 3 or 4 years old, so make sure you're prepared for a bunch of funny times.

9. They Have No Idea What Personal Space Means View this post on InstagramIn addition to being Velcro dogs, giant schnauzers are the type of dogs who have to be right on top of you. Personal space? They don't know her.
Whether you're eating something, laying in bed or being their personal chauffeur, the giant schnauzer knows how to invade your space and make you feel like it's somehow your fault for not understanding the assignment.
10. They're Quick Learners View this post on InstagramAlong with being great protectors and extremely playful, giant schnauzers are ridiculously intelligent. They actually rank among the top in canine intelligence for the Working Group breeds. They learn commands easily, do incredibly well with complex problem-solving and know very quickly when things are not how they should be.
Gambit, for example, learned how to use his buttons around the house after about five times seeing me show him. He also knows how to open a door, how to spin and has been super impressive with his agility skills—even in his first few sessions.
11. They Can Be Very Stubborn View this post on InstagramWhile having a highly intelligent dog seems like a great thing, there's also a con to that too. Giant schnauzers are sometimes too smart for their own good, and as a result, they can be very stubborn.
At times, they will test the boundaries you place and will intentionally ignore you if they simply just don't feel like doing what you ask. Giant schnauzers need consistent training and reinforcement, and they love to push the limits you set. And when their stubborn streak sets in, they'll shut down and nothing—other than positive reinforcement—will get them out of it.
So there you have it, folks. The good, the bad, the ugly and—most importantly—the beautiful sides of being privileged enough to be a parent to a giant schnauzer. Though they can definitely be a lot to handle at times, once you have the pleasure of calling one your own, you'll see why there's nothing better than this gentle (somewhat) giant.

This Cat Saw a Baby Stroller and Made a Decision Nobody Asked For

A stroller is no different. In fact, a stroller might be ideal for cats. Think of the features: it's soft, enclosed on the sides, slightly elevated and smells like the family. From your cat's perspective, this is simply a very good bed that someone left in the living room.
She considers herself a babyby u/goddesssashax in aww Cats Don't Claim Spots Randomly
It might look like chaos, but there's logic to where a cat chooses to sleep and spend its time. They are highly territorial animals, and that territory isn't just physical space; it's a mental map of every surface, perch, and enclosed area in the home. They rank these spots by warmth, height, safety, and proximity to the people they're attached to.
The baby stroller hits several of those marks at once. It's enclosed enough to feel sheltered. It's soft. And crucially, it smells like the center of household activity. For a cat who has decided she is, in fact, the baby of the house, occupying the baby's stroller isn't a protest. It's a logical claim.
We've written about this kind of territorial reasoning before, most memorably when a cat claimed the top of a rock in a multi-pet household and refused to share it with a persistent lamb and an entirely unbothered dog. The dynamic is the same: the cat identifies a spot as hers, and the conversation is over. No negotiation. No exceptions.

What "the Baby of the House" Means to a CatCats don't understand infant development or family hierarchy in the way humans do. What they do understand is routine, attention, and scent. When a new baby arrives, it disrupts all three. The baby gets more attention. The baby's things take up new space. The baby smells different and makes sounds the cat has never heard.
The people on the Reddit post had fun with it. One said, "I'm something of a baby myself," which is how most cats feel. Another added, "If is not for her why is it her sized."
Some cats respond to newborn babies by withdrawing. Others by inserting themselves directly into the baby's world, sleeping near the baby, following the parents during nighttime feeds, and yes, climbing into the stroller.
Simply put, the cat is trying to stay as close to the center of family life as possible rather than being pushed to the edges. This cat is not stealing anything. She's just refusing to be excluded from the family activities.

♬ My Dawg Lil Baby - ÇËØ.õf.Råp🎵Yorkies are known for being big personality bundles in tiny packages, so it's no surprise this little pup is in charge of not only the house, but also their much bigger sibling. A common stereotype with Rotties is that they're super aggressive, but they can actually be very sweet and loyal and protective of their family.
Social media users got a kick out of the pair's dynamic saying:
"She's like stop moving so I can see damn!"
"I bet the Yorkie is the boss of the house."
"I love the size difference they just don't care lol"
How to Introduce Dogs to New SiblingsWhen introducing dogs to their new housemates, it's important to take your time and do things slowly but surely. Start by meeting somewhere neutral, not at home, like a park, sidewalk, or another outdoor space. Start by walking them together and after a few minutes let them sniff each other and say hello.
Once at home, remove things that can be seen as "high value" from shared spaces like treats and toys. The new sibling should have a space that is just theirs to make their safe space. Keeping the pups to a routine and ensuring they are always supervised will have the bonding and getting comfortable with each other as they learn to cohabitate.
Dogs are a huge part of our families and it's so great seeing them bond with the other animal siblings in the house. Every pair has their own relationship, no matter how big or small.
