These Baby Geese Got Separated From Their Mother and Chose One Human To Trust

Sun, 05/17/2026 - 10:55am

A gaggle of baby geese was separated from their mother, which is always sad to hear. But what they found in the form of a new caregiver is melting hearts across the world.

In a new viral animal video, we see a tiny brood of goslings follow and emotionally bond with their rescuer, a young fisherman.

This touching animal rescue video shows the strong attachment young birds can form with a dedicated caregiver. No wonder people can't stop watching!

@abcnews

A brood of goslings stranded from their mother were captured swimming beside and clinging to a fisherman in Tjarno, Sweden #abcnews #news

♬ original sound - ABC News - ABC News Why Baby Geese Bond With Caregivers

We see in the sweet video that the baby geese are clinging to the fisherman, named Alex Corregidor Ellison, who found them in Tjarno, Sweden, while fishing with a friend.

“When I turned around, I saw five baby geese swimming towards us, resulting in them trying to climb all over us, as if we were their mother,” Ellison said.

Though the baby geese were reunited with their mother shortly after this, they bonded so fast with Alex and his friend.

Why did that happen so fast?

When goslings are separated from their parents, they immediately look for the next reliable caregiver and form an attachment.

Related: This Goose Ignores 80 MPH Winds Like a Tiny Storm Chaser

Alex and his friend were gentle and sweet—they even made quack sounds!—and clearly were not a threat to these young birds.

The baby geese immediately began to imprint on their surrogate parent, even if it was only for a few minutes.

Ellison smartly realized that their mother was hopefully not too far, so they decided to separate from them.

“We left the babies shortly after so that the mother could return to them, and surely enough, a few minutes later, they were reunited," he told Storyful.

A happy ending for this heartwarming rescue video.

It reminds me a bit of the wonderful 1996 film, Fly Away Home, starring Anna Paquin, in which a gaggle of baby geese, also abandoned by their parent, imprint on a young and somewhat lonely preteen.

Eventually, she and her father decided the geese needed to fly south for the winter, and she did so by guiding them while flying her own plane that looked like a big mama goose.

If you feel like crying a whole lot, then this is the film for you.

Cat Waits for Senior Dog Sibling to Go Down Stairs In Show of Sweet Support

Sun, 05/17/2026 - 10:10am

While dogs and cats are often depicted as enemies, many of these fur babies actually form close relationships. Despite being different species, canines and kitties can often find common ground when living under the same roof.

Oakley is a 14-year-old dog who's gotten a bit slower with age, yet his feline brother River is always right by his side and happy to cheer him on.

@whiskeytoller

No best friend left behind 😭🙏 #dogandcat #bestfriends #seniordog #animallover #animalfriends

♬ Lovely Moment - RealMusic

The TikTok from @whiskeytoller revealed a beautiful example of the brotherly bond between Oakley and River. Oakley stood tentatively at the top of the stairs and hesitated to take the first step down. River got vocal as he paced back and forth around his brother, which got their mom's attention.

"I couldn't figure out why my cat kept meowing while my 14-year-old dog waited at the top of the stairs," the onscreen text read. "But then I realized, he was encouraging him and making sure he wasn't trying something hard all alone."

River continued to support his precious pooch brother, then walked downstairs to show him there was nothing to fear. After the feline fur baby confirmed that the coast was clear, Oakley carefully walked down the steps to join his kitty sibling.

"They were waiting for each other," the video concluded, with the caption adding, "No best friend left behind."

Followers praised the precious pair and their obvious devotion to each other.

"I love the bond these two have — it just melts my heart," one remarked.

"I wish TikTok would stop making me cry!! What a beautiful pair!!" another gushed.

"His emotional support cat," a follower noted.

"Never underestimate the love and bond animals have for each other," someone shared.

Oakley and River Are Inseparable

According to several TikTok posts from the account, these fur baby brothers spend most of their time snuggling together. One heartwarming video featured Oakley sleeping while River "made biscuits" on his big brother, a behavior in which cats use their paws in a kneading motion.

@whiskeytoller

Did you know when cats “make biscuits,” it’s more than just adorable? …it’s deeply instinctive behavior that starts when they’re kittens. They knead their mother’s belly to stimulate milk flow, and that comforting motion becomes hardwired as a sign of safety and connection. 🧡 As adults, cats often knead when they feel completely relaxed and secure, the same way they did as kittens with their mom. This may even help cats deposit scent from the pads of their paws, marking something (or someone) as familiar, safe, and “their own”. So when my cat started making biscuits on my senior dog Oakley 🐶, it might not have been just for his own comfort, but i think it was his way of comforting his brother too... It’s a beautiful example of how cats express love and belonging in their own quiet, instinctive way. 🥹🧡 Cats are often misunderstood as distant or aloof, but behaviors like this show just how emotionally aware and connected they truly are. So next time your cat makes biscuits, remember that they might just be telling you that you’re their safe space. #catbehavior #animalbehavior #catbiscuits #catsanddogs

♬ original sound - Amber & Whiskey

This instinctive action starts for a cat in their early kitten days when they knead their mom's belly to stimulate milk, and continues throughout their lives as a sort of comfort behavior. The repetitive motion makes them feel secure and is a form of bonding. For River, the gesture seemed two-fold.

"When my cat started making biscuits on my senior dog Oakley, it might not have been just for his own comfort, but i think it was his way of comforting his brother too," the caption explained.

These brothers are definitely BFFs.

This Man Thought He Was Starting Another Normal Workday Until He Opened His Truck

Sun, 05/17/2026 - 9:55am

The man in this video was expecting a normal workday. Instead, he opened his truck door and found a sleepy brown-and-white Pit Bull curled up inside like she had already decided this was her vehicle now.

Honestly? She looked extremely confident about the arrangement.

@anothercattech

She is the most sweetest dog. She walked up on me while I was working. Scared the holy hell out of me. She kept wanting to get in the truck so I let her. she took a nap till I finished my job. Went to dollar general got her some food. Made sure not to over feed her. She finally drank some water later. Took her to vca and she don’t have a chip. Took her to tractor supply gave her a bath with some flea and tick shampoo. Also gave her some stuff for the flea and ticks. Next step is to get my other non friendly dog to like her or going to have to find her a new home I really hope my dog will start to like her. Baby steps

♬ Good Ol' Dogs and God - Pryor & Lee

TikToker @anothercattech shared the touching rescue story after the sweet stray dog unexpectedly wandered up while he was working.

“She is the most sweetest dog,” he wrote. “She walked up on me while I was working. Scared the holy h*ll out of me.”

Related: Dog Finds a Tiny Stray Kitten and Immediately Starts Caring for Her

But instead of running away, the dog kept trying to climb into the truck until he finally let her inside.

And once she got comfortable? She immediately fell asleep in the front seat while he finished his job.

The man later explained that he stopped at Dollar General to buy her food, carefully made sure she didn't overeat too quickly, and eventually got her to drink water. He also took her to the vet to check for a microchip, but none was found.

From There, the Accidental Rescue Mission Only Continued

• He gave her a bath with flea and tick shampoo
• Treated her for fleas and ticks
• Started introducing her to his other Pittie named Belle
• Officially gave her the name Maple

Honestly, the entire thing feels less like “finding a stray dog,” and more like “being selected by a dog who had already made up her mind.”

People Became Emotionally Invested in Maple’s Story:

• “First place she has probably felt safe in a long time.”
• “She will be your best friend!”
• “Looks like you have a new apprentice.”
• “She was patiently waiting for you to finish your job so you [could] take her home.”
• “Congratulations on the new work dog. She will always want to go to work with you.”

Others encouraged patience while Maple adjusts to her new surroundings and slowly gets acquainted with Belle.

• “3 day, 3 week, 3 month rule for adopting. Give them time!”

Honestly, that first image of Maple peacefully sleeping in the truck says everything. After who knows how long surviving outside, she finally found one place where she felt safe enough to fully relax.

How To Introduce a New Dog to Your Current Dog @anothercattech

Just a update for all the Maple lovers out there. The walking is helping still going to take it slow #teammaple #rescuedog #doglovers #update

♬ awww so cute - Cherri ⁉️

Introducing a new dog to a resident dog often takes patience and slow, supervised interactions. Experts recommend neutral introductions, calm environments, and gradual bonding rather than forcing immediate friendship.

Helpful Introduction Tips Include:

• Keep initial meetings calm and short.
• Introduce dogs on neutral ground when possible.
• Reward relaxed behavior with treats and praise.
• Give both pups separate safe spaces.
Avoid forcing interaction too quickly.
• Supervise feeding and toys at first.
• Allow gradual building of trust over time.

Many rescue dogs also follow the “3 day, 3 week, 3 month” adjustment pattern, where they slowly become more comfortable and confident in a new home.

And judging by the way Maple climbed into that truck and instantly fell asleep, she may have already decided she hopes this is where she belongs.

Man Spotted a 'Ball of Cream' on the Side of the Road—Then He Realized It Was Breathing

Sun, 05/17/2026 - 9:20am

Rabbits are one of those animals who already look a little unreal on a normal day. They're basically anxiety wrapped in velvet, with the kind of tiny, concentrated cuteness that makes you question whether nature was showing off. So when someone spots what looks like a “ball of cream fluff” on the side of a busy road, there's a brief second where your brain is allowed to hope it's just somebody’s lost throw pillow.

Then it moves.

@so_jessie_studio

My husband spotted this little ball of cream fluff on the side of a busy road today. He called me to bring a crate and and towel. We had a dwarf netherland rabbit, Onyx, for nine years. He passed away three months ago and we were heart broken. Rabbits are so much work and require space to play, socialize and need to be part of a family. I just don’t know how anyone could just dump and animal. We have most everything we would need to keep it. And maybe the universe just connected us. Either way, we will make sure it is safe, feed and either find a rabbit rescue or welcome it into the family. Humans need to do better! Animals don’t deserve this! #rabbit #animalrescue #animallover #bunny #kindness

♬ original sound - baerandthistle

That is what happened here. A husband spotted this little pale fluffball near the road and called for backup: bring a crate, bring a towel, bring whatever is needed because this is now officially a situation. And once you know the family’s backstory, the whole thing hits even harder. They had a Netherland Dwarf Rabbit named Onyx for nine years, lost him just three months ago, and were still very much carrying that heartbreak around. Then the universe tosses a roadside bunny into the frame like a wild, emotional plot twist.

What makes the story land is that nobody in it is pretending rabbits are easy. The family clearly knows the reality. Rabbits are work. Real work. They need room, time, enrichment, social connection, and a household that understands they're not decorative little starter pets.

That's part of why the rescue feels so meaningful. This wasn't somebody casually deciding, sure, let’s keep the fluff. This was a family looking at an abandoned animal and saying, at minimum, we will make sure you're safe, fed, and not left to fend for yourself on a roadside. If that means connecting with a rabbit rescue, they will do that. If that means welcoming this bunny into the family, they're prepared for that, too.

And honestly, good.

Because dumping a domestic rabbit outside isn't giving them freedom.

One commenter wrote, “He looks a lot like my roadside bunny!” which somehow makes the whole thing feel even bigger. Apparently, there's a whole terrible genre of “domestic rabbit found where absolutely no domestic rabbit should be,” and thankfully, also a whole genre of people willing to stop, care, and do better.

That is the real story here. Not just the fluff. The choice.

What To Do If You Find an Abandoned Rabbit

The first step is to assume a domestic rabbit outside needs help, especially if it looks unusually colored, fluffy, or human-socialized. Rabbit.org recommends securing the rabbit safely in a carrier or a pen setup, using food to lure it if needed, and contacting a rabbit-savvy rescue as soon as possible. They also warn that domestic rabbits are highly vulnerable outdoors and should not simply be left there.

Some rescues start with sirens or headlines. This one started with a cream puff by the road and a family willing to stop.

House Cat Takes on a Bald Eagle and Changes His Mind Fast

Sun, 05/17/2026 - 8:55am

Cats are curious by nature, and sometimes that curiosity leads them into situations they probably weren't expecting. For one house cat in Port Orchard, Washington, that meant coming face-to-face with a wild Bald Eagle.

The confident feline approaches the massive bird like it's no big deal, stepping closer as if he's sizing up something much smaller. But it doesn't take long for the situation to shift.

The moment was captured on video by Amanda Wiles, and it was shared on May 6 by @abc7chicago via Storyful:

View this post on Instagram

At first, the Eagle barely reacts, standing his ground as the cat inches closer. But the second the distance closes, the Eagle spreads his wings and steps forward, making it very clear who's in charge.

That was enough.

The kitty quickly backs off and takes off running, ending the encounter before things could escalate any further. It's a split-second decision that likely made all the difference. I wouldn't want to mess with those talons either.

There's Something To Learn About This Kind of Cat-Bird Moment

Moments like this can look harmless at first.

Still, wildlife experts, including those with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, warn that birds of prey, like Bald Eagles, are powerful, protected raptors with sharp talons and beaks that can cause serious injury.

They're safeguarded under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, and close encounters between domestic pets and wild raptors can quickly become dangerous for both animals.

Keeping pets indoors or supervised is the recommended best practice in areas where Eagles are active.

Viewers had plenty to say about the unexpected standoff.

"Cat clearly doesn't know he can go to jail for that," one person joked.

"If it were an Orange Cat, I wouldn't be worried," another added.

"The Eagle is like, 'OK, bud, 10/10 for attitude, but 0/10 chance I can let you get away with that,'" @highspeedncats wrote.

In the end, it's one of those moments that could have gone very differently, but instead ends with a quick reminder: Sometimes curiosity meets its match.

His Best Friend Is a Farm Cat Who Disappeared—Now This Yellow Lab Spends Every Day Looking for Him

Sun, 05/17/2026 - 8:20am

It's a beautiful thing to witness two unlikely pets form an unbreakable bond. They're the best teachers in never judging a book by its proverbial cover and accepting those who are a little different than us.

A Yellow Lab named Coop had a best friend in Winston, the farm cat. They were inseparable. But when Winston went missing, Coop did the only thing he thought might bring the kitty home.

On May 10, Winston disappeared from @cedarandstonefarm, leaving sweet Coop wondering where he'd gone. The loyal, devoted, and steadfast Lab posted up in the yard to search for the Orange Cat he was missing so much.

For days, this is where Coop's family found him—with sorrow in his eyes, and hope in his heart that they would be reunited if only he stayed right there, waiting. Maybe the good boy thought, "If he comes home and I'm not here, he'll think I've gone, too."

So, he resigned himself to being the one thing he knew Winston would need: faithful.

With how deeply dogs feel, the story is a tearjerker—but dry your eyes because there's good news! After four long days and nights, another resident pup, Chester, alerted Mom and Dad to a surprise guest and led them straight to Winston!

The kitty was hungry and a little dirty, but otherwise in good shape considering what he must've gone through. Chester deserves a million treats for being such a good boy, because he gave Coop his best friend back. This is one happy ending for the record books!

♬ original sound - Cedar and Stone Farm 🇨🇦 Helping Your Dog Cope: Lessons From a Yellow Lab Waiting for a Missing Farm Cat

There's no doubt—dogs feel grief, sometimes just as intensely as we do, if not more. Whether their hearts break from mourning a friend who's crossed the Rainbow Bridge or vanished the way Winston did, pet parents can help them cope with a few compassionate strategies.

  • Keep them on their regular routine. It gives them comfort and stability in an otherwise devastating time.
  • Give them extra attention, cuddles, pets, and love. It won't heal them completely, but it does remind them that at least they still have you.
  • Offer mentally, emotionally, and physically engaging activities to lessen their stress. These distractions aren't a cure-all either, but they might lessen their anxiety even for a little while.

Keeping things as normal as possible is one of the best things we can do for our hurting pets. And if they decide to keep watch (for however long) in case their friend comes home, let them—join them, even—and remind them that they're not alone, they're loved, and whether they get the reunion or not, they'll be OK.

‘Black Smoke’ Ragdoll Cat Looks Like the World’s Cutest Burnt Marshmallow

Sun, 05/17/2026 - 8:00am

Ragdoll cats all have a very classic look. If you know anything about cats, you can probably pick a Ragdoll out of a lineup. They're just total icons, and they're the kind of cats that you might expect to see at a rich lady's upscale apartment.

Sometimes, however, there's a different type of Ragdoll cat to look at. For example, in this video, one man managed to get his hands on a Black Smoke Ragdoll kitten, which is just about the coolest thing you'll probably see all day:

@lunamama8

#cat #catdaddy #pet #ragdollcat #cute

♬ Little Life - Cordelia

Luna is actually a Black Smoke Maine Coon/Ragdoll cross, which explains the epic coloring. Black fur is absolutely not naturally occurring in Ragdoll cats, so if you see one, they're crossed with something. No biggie, and they're still insanely beautiful, but that's just how it is.

Alreafy, you can see that Luna has all the makings of a beautiful cat. One hallmark of a Black Smoke Maine Coon is that super light "collar" (the tufts of fur around the neck), and she's already forming that. As she grows, she'll only get more majestic!

Related: Super Sweet ‘Polar Bear Maine Coon’ Has the Prettiest Fur

She's tiny now, but she will not be that way for very long. Maine Coons and Ragdolls are both larger breeds, with Maine Coons being particularly large. She's already growing up quite a bit: she basically takes up her dad's whole torso.

@lunamama8

My sleepy little fur baby #cat #catdaddy #pet #ragdollcat

♬ Hey look at my cat - cats_i_guess

She's awesome. I can't wait to see what kind of kitty she grows up to be! She's also an only cat, which means all of the attention, love, and treats are solely devoted to her. That's exactly how life should be!

Maine Coon/Ragdolls Are Super Fun

Both Maine Coons and Ragdolls are affectionate, outgoing cats who love adventure and spending time with the people they love. If you're looking for a cat who makes the best companion ever, then the Maine Coon/Ragdoll cross is for you.

Maine Coon/Ragdolls can be a great pet for apartment living or life in a house; it all depends on how much enrichment they have. An apartment cat with plenty of places to climb and an attentive parent will be perfectly happy. Enrichment is key with this intelligent, adventurous breed. You can try things like:

  • Games of fetch.
  • Occasional supervised outside time.
  • Scavenger hunts for their favorite treats.
  • Making obstacle courses.

Luna's dad cares a lot about her, luckily, and she has everything she needs. It's a win-win: she gets lots of love, and he gets a gorgeous cat that all of his friends will be jealous of!

Forgotten Backyard Junk Transformed Into the Cutest Dog Retreat Ever

Sun, 05/17/2026 - 7:48am

Outdoor dog houses can cost a few hundred dollars. Making your own will costs only a fraction of that, and all you have to do is spend one afternoon making it.

Tires are a popular and versatile material for DIY upcycling projects. Durable and weather-resistant, they can be transformed into a useful item.

🐶SIGN UP to get "pawsitivity" delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

In a YouTube Short, we see how two old truck tires can be transformed into something your furry friend will love.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/RkWoYIqr3GM

They sat in a backyard half-buried in mud until one man decided to do something. Piece by piece, the result was a polished dog house.

Simple and Smart DIY Project

Everything starts with the foundation, and in this case, that was the lower tire. Then you attach a thick wooden disc beneath the structure to lift it slightly off the ground. The result is a stable base.

The second tire goes on top, bolted securely into place. The entrance is created where the two tires meet, allowing for a large entryway for a dog to pass through comfortably.

The navy-blue paint and paw prints give this DIY dog house character.

Related: Dog Left Behind in Empty House Quietly Chooses Her New Human

Your Safety Questions, Answered

One commenter raised a worthy concern: Is it actually safe for dogs to spend time inside old tires? He asked, "Clever idea. But is it safe for the pup to breathe all that tire off gassing?" one viewer asked.

It is a fair question. Tires can contain chemicals and oils that release odors over time. But this is where preparation matters. If you want to try a similar project, deep-cleaning and degreasing the tires is crucial. Then use encapsulating paint and a clear coating to ensure your dog is safe.

Also, don't forget that proper ventilation is key. Make sure to open a big enough entrance for air to flow.

Custom Fit for Your Backyard

The finished dog house is more than a shelter. Pet parents can create a durable, heavy-duty solution for dogs who love spending time outdoors.

There is something satisfying about making something useful out of discarded materials. In the video, the dog took one sniff and claimed it as his own.

So, the next time you look at some leftover garage junk, wondering whether to throw it or recycle it, think about this video.

Husky Mix With Neurological Disorder Gets Around by Literally Prancing — And It’s the Best

Sun, 05/17/2026 - 7:10am

Dogs instinctively adapt when they face physical challenges. Whether it's vision loss, a missing limb, or a neurological condition, canines have remarkable resilience and figure out how to navigate their world despite chronic health obstacles.

Fenix the Husky mix is an amazing example of this type of tenacity. The fur baby has a brain disorder and was given a negative prognosis, but he figured out how to beat the odds.

@fenixlumiere

You’re not ready for this.

♬ Get Ready - 2 Unlimited

In the TikTok from @fenixlumiere, the handsome Husky was outside enjoying some nice weather. When he began moving toward the camera, Fenix didn't walk. He pranced. Turns out the canine cutie adopted this form of mobility due to a medical condition.

"My puppy was told he'd never walk normally because his mum was abused when he was in utero," the onscreen text revealed. "His resulting brain disorder meant he couldn't run without falling over, so he taught himself to prance instead."

Fenix's front paws elegantly swung as the precious pooch pranced his way up the sidewalk, while his back legs sort of hovered from side to side. His special strut was over-the-top adorable, and the look of joy on his face would brighten anyone's day. Fenix's creative solution to overcoming his medical condition was a testament to his intelligence and determination to thrive.

Followers fell in love with Fenix and posted plenty of praise for the pup.

"I consider that an upgrade. He’s adorable," one remarked.

"All I see is a model living his best life," another noted.

"He reminds me of dressage horses that dance — that is just too cute," a follower pointed out.

"I think he’s right and we’re all doing it wrong!" someone commented.

Cerebellar Hypoplasia in Canines

Fenix has cerebellar hypoplasia, which is a neurological disease usually seen in puppies from birth. This disorder occurs when the cerebellum, a section of the brain, doesn’t form correctly while the puppy is in the womb.

The cerebellum sends signals to muscles that control balance, coordination, posture, and fine motor skills. Malformations in this area of the brain cause mobility issues in dogs. The disorder does not get worse over time or affect cognitive function.

Related: 3-Legged Dog 'Finds Her Calling' Herding Goats and It's the Best

Causes of cerebellar hypoplasia include viral infections, toxins, genetics, or traumatic events during brain development.

Many dogs with this disorder can lead active, productive lives with the help of supportive equipment like doggy wheelchairs or specialized harnesses. Or, maybe they can give Fenix's playful prance a try.

This Bull Terrier and His Goose Bestie Can't Stop Chasing Each Other

Sun, 05/17/2026 - 6:55am

The friendship between this Bull Terrier and his goose bestie honestly feels less like a normal pet relationship and more like two toddlers who accidentally consumed too much birthday cake and decided the backyard was now a racetrack.

A Bull Terrier named Nino is making people laugh online thanks to his nonstop zoomie sessions with his unusually feathery best friend.

@ninobullterrier

Shared by @ninobullterrier, the hilarious TikTok clip shows Nino and the goose sprinting around the yard together in complete chaotic harmony.

Related: Australian Shepherd Meets Emu Chicks and Immediately Tries To Teach Them How To Be Dogs

At Different Points in the Video:

• The goose chases Nino around the yard.
• Nino sneaks up behind the goose during zoomies.
• The goose stands on top of the Bull Terrier.
• The goose playfully nibbles at his neck.
• One dramatic chase even ends with the goose tumbling into the swimming pool.

And somehow the entire thing feels weirdly wholesome instead of chaotic.

The funniest moment might honestly be when Nino nudges the goose into the water and immediately starts spinning in excited little circles afterward, like he just told the funniest joke of his life.

People in the Comments Were Obsessed With the Pair’s Goofy Friendship:

• “I can’t get enough of these two.”
• “This is a lifetime friendship… soooo beautiful.”
• “Two buddies enjoying each other’s company.”
• “Haha… Friends for life! So cute…”
• “Just the dopamine that I needed!”
• “I love when the dog sneaks up on the bird and pushes her in the water and then thinks it’s so funny that he spins in circles.”

Honestly, Nino has the exact energy of a child whose best friend happens to be a goose, and nobody in the family questions it anymore because this has apparently become a full lifestyle.

Meanwhile, my Pomeranian, Kingston, once got scared by a squirrel statue, so the idea of voluntarily wrestling with a goose honestly feels very ambitious.

Dogs and geese can sometimes form close bonds when raised together carefully and introduced in calm, supervised environments. Like many animals, geese are capable of recognizing familiar companions and may become surprisingly social and playful with trusted pets.

However, experts still recommend supervision because both dogs and geese can accidentally injure one another during rough play or moments of stress.

Signs of Positive Animal Friendships Can Include:

• Relaxed body language
Playful chasing without aggression
• Choosing to stay near each other
• Mutual curiosity and comfort
Calm interactions during feeding or resting

And judging by Nino and his goose bestie, these two seem perfectly happy spending their days causing backyard chaos together.

In a perfect world, you and your feline will journey through life together with a sense of mutual love and a tight connecton. While every cat has the potential to be a companion, some are known to be more steadfast than others. Read on to discover 5 of the most faithful cat breeds who love unconditonally, according to vets, and learn why you can count on them to be by your side.

These ride-or-die pets will be there through thick and thin for their humans. While every cat is an individual, there are certain traits passed down through some breeds to make them more prone to loyalty. These faithful felines are known for their unwavering love and are not only adorable, but they are also known for forming strong emotional bonds, making them ideal pets for people seeking a cat that will love them unconditionally. However, keep in mind that cats show love and devotion differently than dogs do.

“A cat’s loyalty looks different from a dog’s loyalty,” says Aimee Warner, DVM, resident veterinarian at Waggel. “They show this by following you around, sleeping near you and being attached to a routine.” So, while your devoted cat may not try to protect you from the mailman, you can still expect them to want to be in your orbit.

So, if a people-loving cat breed is high on your list for a future pet, vets recommend starting your search with one of these faithful cat breeds. Of course, there’s so much more to these people-loving cats than just that one trait. If a loyal sidekick is important to you, you'll fall for these sweet and dependable cat breeds, below.

This breed is curious and playful, making for a fun companion. Siamese cats are also known for their vocalness, which is their way of saying, You’re part of my family!' and makes perfect sense as they love to stick close to their owners, Warner points out.

Another reason they are considered to be a loving cat? They will be there for you when you're having a bad day or feelings sad. “Siamese cats also have a very high emotional intelligence, meaning they are able to tune into what people are feeling and react appropriately,” Bonk says.

The Sphynx loves playtime and getting plenty of attention from its chosen humans. "This makes them the best choice for those looking for an interactive cat,” Warner says. Keep in mind that this breed is incredibly outgoing and affectionate, making them a good fit for homes with regular guests. But the Sphynx also has a dog-like tendency toward devotion. 7 Best Dog Breeds for Small Yards, According to Pet Experts

Sun, 05/17/2026 - 5:10am

Choosing the right dog isn’t just about personality—it’s also about matching a breed to your lifestyle and living space. If you’re worried that a small yard might limit your options, the good news is that many dogs don’t need a big backyard to be happy. Several dog breeds are naturally well-suited for limited outdoor areas and can thrive in apartments, townhomes, and compact homes. To help you know which ones are great options if you want to get a pet, we rounded up 7 dog breeds that are perfect for small yards, according to vets.

According to experts, dogs can adapt surprisingly well to restricted environments when their physical and mental needs are met. “A small yard can work very well for some dogs,” says Aimee Warner, DVM, resident veterinarian at Waggel. Some breeds are naturally calmer, more adaptable, and require less outdoor space than many people expect.

Many dogs can adjust to confined spaces, but not every breed is a good fit. High-energy dogs often need more extensive exercise, including long daily walks, active playtime, or frequent visits to the dog park. So, are there large dogs that don’t need a big yards? Read on to find out. Below are the best dog breeds for small yards that are known to thrive in tinier living spaces.

Why Some Dogs Are Better Suited for Small Yards

Not all dogs have the same daily requirements, and understanding those differences can help you choose the right breed for your space. Instead of focusing only on size, experts often look at a dog’s overall energy level, trainability, and how well it adapts to structured routines.

Some furry companions are more comfortable with predictable daily walks and indoor enrichment, while others need constant physical activity and large open spaces to stay balanced. These traits—not just yard size—are what ultimately determine whether a dog is a good fit for smaller living environments.

7 Best Dog Breeds for Small Yards and Compact Homes

This list goes beyond just tiny dogs and includes small, medium, and even some larger breeds that can do well in smaller yards. Each one has been selected for its adaptability to compact homes, moderate exercise needs, and overall suitability for limited outdoor space.

One dog that doesn't need a big yard is the French Bulldog, which has been the most popular dog in America for several years now, and with good reason. This pooch is adorable, petite and friendly, making it the total package. They’re also not overly demanding, points out Chyrle Bonk, DVM, a veterinarian at Embrace Pet Insurance. “French Bulldogs are fairly relaxed dogs that only require moderate amounts of exercise,” she says.

Your Frenchie will likely be happy with a few short walks a day, Bonk says. “They will prefer to spend the rest of their time lounging or hanging out with you,” she adds. This breed tends to be quiet, making it a good fit if you have a ground-floor apartment or other homes close to you. Another nice perk: French Bulldogs are often happy to play with interactive puzzles or toys for mental stimulation between walks and naps, according to Bonk.

Breed Stats
  • Personality: Playful, smart, adaptable
  • Height: 11-13 inches
  • Weight: Under 28 pounds
  • Lifespan: 10–12 years

What dogs are good for small yards? The Pug tends to do well in a range of households, including homes with a confined yard. “Pugs can suit homes with small yards because they are compact and usually do not need the same level of exercise like other breeds,” Warner says. “A small outdoor space is ideal for toilet breaks and quick playing time.”

This small yard dog is known for being fun-loving and social. The Pug loves to play with nearly anyone who crosses its path, including other dogs. Just be aware that the Pug’s flat face can predispose it to breathing problems when it’s hot out. “Remember to step outside only when it’s not too hot and when you have enough shade,” Warner says.

Breed Stats
  • Personality: Charming, loving, mischievous
  • Height: 10-13 inches
  • Weight: 14-18 pounds
  • Lifespan: 13–15 years
Great Dane A large dog with a calm personality that doesn't need a big yard to be happy.

Do large dogs need big yards? Not all giant dogs need sprawling outdoor space to stay happy. While many people assume bigger breeds require big backyards, some are actually known for their calm temperaments and low to moderate exercise needs—making them more adaptable to modest-sized yards than expected.

So, what large dogs are good for small yards? Great Danes are one of them. While they are large in size, they are generally homebodies and laid-back indoors. They don’t require constant yard time, but they do benefit from daily walks and enough indoor space to stretch out comfortably.

Breed Stats
  • Personality: Gentle, friendly, affectionate, and calm indoors
  • Height: 28–34 inches
  • Weight: 110–175+ pounds
  • Lifespan: 7–10 years

When it comes to dogs that don’t need a big yard, the Boston Terrier is one. "While these dogs are a low-energy dog, per se, this breed’s small size allows them to do a lot of running in a small space," Bonk points out. “They don’t require large outdoor areas to keep themselves entertained, and don’t need constant exercise to keep them satisfied."

This highly affectionate breed is playful and family-friendly, too. But Boston Terriers tend to do well in a lot of different living situations, including tight outdoor space, making them dogs ideal for apartments with small yards. “Bostons are very adaptable,” Bonk says. “They tend to work well in most environments and won’t bark or get into trouble if something isn’t to their liking.”

The Chinese Crested Dog is a small, adaptable companion breed that can be a great fit for homes with small yards and restricted outdoor space. Known for its unique appearance—coming in both a hairless variety and a powderpuff variety with a full coat—this breed is a great small yard-friendly dog breed.

“Chinese Cresteds are fairly active pups, but their small size means they don’t need a huge space in order to get their physical needs met,” Bonk says. This makes them well-suited for apartments, townhomes, and homes with limited outdoor areas, especially for owners looking for low space dog breeds with moderate exercise needs.

You can also expect these pups to be your snuggle buddy throughout the day. “They’re fairly content lounging in your lap after getting a few zoomies out or a couple of short walks in a day,” Bonk says.

  • Personality: Alert, lively, affectionate

The Havanese is a small companion breed and one of the best dog breeds for tiny yards thanks to its adaptable, easygoing nature. Of course, the Havanese loves playtime as much as anyone, but typically have moderate exercise needs, so they don't need a huge outdoor area to be happy. “They enjoy play and activities,” Warner says. “They do well if they have proper walks and enough interaction."

The Maltese is one of the best small dog breeds for small yards, apartments, and compact homes. Weighing under 7 pounds, they are ideal pet for small spaces due to its size and adaptable nature.

Maltese dogs do have moderate exercise needs for a toy breed, enjoying short daily walks, indoor play, and time exploring enclosed outdoor areas. “This breed enjoys sniffing and playing in enclosed spaces,” notes Warner. The upside is, vets say they don't require a huge area to do it in. So if you have modest yard space, that won't be a problem.

The Maltese is also a deeply affectionate companion dog that thrives on closeness with its owner, making it a strong fit for families or individuals looking for a family-friendly dog for small yards. While they have a lively personality and enjoy playtime, they do not require large outdoor spaces to stay happy and engaged. They are also considered a low-shedding dog breed, which adds to their appeal for many owners.

British Longhair Cat's 'Bedazzled Blueberry Eyes' Look Like Shimmering Ocean Water

Sat, 05/16/2026 - 8:20pm

A kitten's appearance changes quite a bit throughout the first year of their life, and sometimes they end up with some cool features. The glow-up transformation is fun to witness, especially when they end up with features that aren't common.

One such angelic feline named Blueberry was blessed with some of the most gorgeous, traffic-stopping eyes we've ever seen. By the way, her peepers shimmer like ocean water; you'll be instantly hypnotized!

@ourcatbiscuit

Despite being so unbelievably adorable, it feels impossible, but Blueberry and her sparkling sapphire stare aren't AI-generated! The stages of growing, from baby to bigger baby, perfectly highlight her beast traits: her plush, snow-white coat, that Swiffer duster tail, and the most darling face ever. She's really something special.

To top it all off, Blueberry's looks are outmatched only by her docile, loving, and sweet-as-pie temperament. Is she the kitty dream? Yes, we think so!

As pretty as Blueberry is, she's the youngest of two British Longhair cats in the home. Her big sis, Biscuit, is equally captivating with her turquoise gaze. Together, they make the world's top cat contenders for "Best Eyes on a Cat Ever."

Once you see this epic cat duo side by side, you'll understand why more than 37k fans (120k across all socials) rave about them on TikTok.

@ourcatbiscuit

Be honest… what would your pets nickname you? 👀

♬ A Spoonful of Sprinkles - Andrew Bong How Common Are Blue-Eyed Adult Cats?

A cat's eye color might not be something you think about on a regular basis, but Blueberry's striking blue eyes are actually quite rare.

All kittens are born with some shade of blue eyes, but by 7 to 12 weeks, the blue changes to their permanent eye color, which is usually yellow, green, or hazel. Only about 3 to 5% of adult felines have true blue eyes due to a lack of pigment, making Blueberry so unique!

Those with cobalt-tinted eyes are linked to specific breeds and are usually solid white kitties, like Ragdolls or Siamese cats, or solid white cats who make up 65 to 80% of the feline population (and are often deaf, too).

It doesn't really matter how Blueberry got her beautiful gaze, but we're all the better for it. She's a stunner!

This Guilty Labrador Thinks Nobody Can See Him if He Closes His Eyes

Sat, 05/16/2026 - 7:55pm

Jackie, the Chocolate Labrador, has apparently developed a fascinating new legal defense strategy: If he closes his eyes, the crime no longer exists.

Unfortunately for him, the completely destroyed Croc sandal sitting nearby says otherwise.

@seb_aubrey

Someone had a fight with my crocks😂🐶🤎 #fyp #foryou #foryoupage #fyppppppppppppppppppppppp #labrador

♬ original sound - seb_aubrey

TikToker @seb_aubrey shared the hilarious clip showing Jackie sitting suspiciously still while his dad holds up the heavily chewed sandal and begins questioning him like a detective who already knows exactly what happened.

“Jackie, I know you’re awake,” his dad says. “Who did this? Did you do that?”

Related: Mini Schnauzer Uses Cartoon Character Face To Get Him Out of Trouble

Meanwhile, Jackie simply keeps his eyes squeezed shut with the intense focus of a dog trying to spiritually exit the conversation.

The funniest part is that he occasionally peeks to see whether his dad is still watching him before immediately shutting his eyes again, as if the entire strategy might still work if he commits hard enough.

People in the Comments Completely Understood Jackie’s Approach to Accountability.

• “Mind you, my client can’t even see what you’re accusing him of.”
• “I can’t hear you, my eyes are closed.”
• “Leave him alone, he’s trying to meditate.”
• “Love the way he keeps checking to see if you’re still looking at him.”
• “Me when my husband talks about money stuff and budgets.”

Honestly, the tiny peeks are what really make the video because Jackie clearly knows he has been caught, but still seems weirdly optimistic that this invisibility experiment could turn things around.

Meanwhile, my cat once stole an entire hot dog bun and then hid behind a curtain with one paw still visibly sticking out, so honestly, Jackie’s strategy feels surprisingly advanced by comparison.

Do Dogs Actually Feel Guilty?

Experts say the classic “guilty dog look” is usually less about true guilt and more about dogs reacting to human tone of voice, facial expressions, and body language.

Dogs May Respond to Tension By:

Avoiding eye contact
• Lowering their heads
• Freezing in place
• Looking away
• Acting unusually still
• Giving dramatic emotional damage expressions

And honestly? Whether Jackie truly understands what happened to the Croc or not, he definitely seems aware that closing his eyes feels emotionally safer than making direct eye contact right now.

This Bunny’s Beach Day Is the Happiest Thing You’ll See Today

Sat, 05/16/2026 - 7:20pm

Rabbits already look like they were designed by somebody who wanted maximum softness with minimum explanation. They're tiny, alert, and dramatic in their own quiet way, and somehow always one head tilt away from ruining your whole emotional stability. So when you put one on a beach in a little yellow hat and seashell outfit, the result isn't merely cute. It's medically unreasonable.

This is Manchas.

And Manchas is having a better beach day than most people with flip-flops.

@manchas2119

Beach day 🌊😝 #bunny #cute #fun #beach #foryou

♬ hawaiian roller coaster ride - 🎸🪩

In the video, this tiny bunny is out on the sand in the sweetest little setup imaginable, wearing a yellow hat, dressed in seashells, and happily playing in a small hole like this is exactly the kind of coastal luxury he expects from life. There's something so ridiculous and perfect about it that your brain briefly stalls out. A bunny shouldn't look this at home near the ocean. And yet Manchas does. He looks like he booked the trip himself and specifically requested the hat.

The whole clip is just one very small rabbit vibing at the beach with enough quiet confidence to make the whole thing feel weirdly aspirational. One comment says, “I DIDN’T KNOW THIS WAS AN OPTION 🥹,” which is honestly the exact response. Because no, most of us didn't know this was an option. We didn't know “beach bunny in resortwear” was a category available to us, and now that we do, the bar has moved.

The little hole in the sand really seals it. He's exploring. Settling in. Looking like a rabbit who has accepted his role as a tiny coastal icon. That makes the clip feel more than just cute. It feels joyful.

And joy like this travels.

Maybe it's the hat. Maybe it's the seashells. Maybe it's the fact that rabbits already come with a built-in level of visual absurdity that makes any setting funnier the second they enter it. Whatever the reason, Manchas has the kind of energy that makes people stop scrolling and just smile for a second.

Which is no small thing right now.

Some beach days are about rest.

Some are about fun.

This one is about a rabbit in accessories digging a little sand hole and accidentally becoming the emotional support animal for the whole internet.

How To Keep a Pet Rabbit Safe Outdoors

As delightful as Manchas looks, rabbits need careful supervision outside. Rabbit.org notes that rabbits should never be left unsupervised outdoors, even for a few minutes, because predators, escape risks, heat, and stress can all become serious dangers very quickly.

That is part of why a beach moment like this only works when it's calm, brief, and closely managed. Shade, a leash, secure handling, and constant supervision matter a lot more than the aesthetic. Still, Manchas made a strong case for the seashell lifestyle.

'Land Cloud' Samoyed's Sweet Morning Routine With New Puppy Is Everything

Boomer's morning routine has all the important elements: He goes outside, returns to give Dad a big hug, then gets straight to work greeting his fluffy little sister! Boomer, who's still somewhat of a puppy himself (albeit, a big one!), was made for this big brother role.

It's clear he takes pride in making sure Diya has a good start to her day, just like him. I didn't think there was anything better than watching one Samoyed navigate the world, but now I know it's this—two Samoyeds playing together!

But wait. The morning morphs into an even better, cuter interaction in the afternoon.

Little Diya wasn't getting the hang of the whole fetch thing. She gave it her all chasing the ball, but failed to understand she should've brought the ball back to Mom and Dad.

This is when Boomer came to the rescue!

As part of his big brother duties, Boomer sprang into action as a visual lesson for the puppy. While Mom held Diya, Boomer chased the ball, fetched it, and returned it to Mom. Guess what happened next—Diya took it all in and did exactly as Boomer showed her!

Samoyeds are said to be one of the sweetest, gentlest, and most affectionate dog breeds, so adding a Samoyed puppy to the mix doubles the fun. When you adopt a highly social dog who enjoys being around other playful pups, giving them a permanent bestie and playmate is one of the best ways to help them thrive.

These dogs aren't known to be aggressive and almost always welcome newcomers with open paws. But because they have lots of energy and take playtime seriously, puppies or other high-energy breeds work best as their new buddies, but they can sometimes overwhelm smaller dogs with their excitement levels.

As with any pup, socialization, exposure to other dogs, and a solid training base are key, but Boomer's a pretty good poster boy for how amazing a Samoyed will be with a new puppy. The gist? When in doubt, get your dog a dog, and you, too, can enjoy the best mornings like Boomer and Diya!

This Fluffy Ragdoll Cat Cuddle Puddle Looks Like One Massive Living Cloud

Sat, 05/16/2026 - 6:20pm

For several extremely confusing seconds, the cat in this video appears to have approximately nine legs, two tails, and the general shape of a sentient cloud.

Then the camera zooms out, and suddenly everything makes sense. Sort of.

@sirgeorgetheragdoll

Now that’s a lot of floof #sirgeorge #ragdoll

♬ original sound - Sir George

TikTok user @sirgeorgetheragdoll shared the hilarious clip showing what initially looks like one unbelievably gigantic Ragdoll cat sprawled across a sofa in full “gigafloof” mode.

The caption joked, “Eleanor has really let herself go. She’s the biggest chongus of all the chonguses.”

Related: Bernese Mountain Dog and Maine Coon Have the Cutest Cuddle Fight

But the video quickly reveals the truth: Another fluffy Ragdoll named George is secretly tangled in the cuddle pile while doing what his family says he does best, “hiding in plain sight and encroaching on others’ personal spaces.”

Honestly, the reveal somehow makes the whole thing even funnier because George looks completely committed to becoming one shared organism with Eleanor.

At Different Points in the Video:

• George disappears behind a scratching post.
• Multiple mystery paws appear from nowhere.
• The cats merge into one confusing fluff structure.
• Eleanor looks mildly inconvenienced by the situation.
• Everyone watching starts questioning basic cat anatomy.

People in the Comments Completely Lost It Trying To Process What They Were Seeing.

• “I was SO confused for a minute, lol.”
• “The first thing I thought was ‘how many legs does this cat have?’”
• “Is it AI? It always puts extra limbs on stuff.”
• “Oh, there’s another cat.”
• “I thought it was one cat with five legs for way too long.”
• “I thought she was just super flooofy. Gigafloof.”
• “I didn’t even have time to contemplate Eleanor’s weight because I was questioning my ability to count and my knowledge of how many legs a cat should have.”

Honestly, this is exactly the kind of video that makes you stare at your screen like you’re solving a crime scene diagram made entirely of fur.

Meanwhile, my Maine Coon, Meatball, desperately wants this level of cuddly closeness with my other cats, but unfortunately, they have absolutely no interest. He basically has to wait until they fall asleep before launching surprise cuddle attacks, and the second they wake up, they immediately leave like annoyed subway passengers.

Cat cuddling behavior depends heavily on personality, socialization, and comfort levels. Some kitties genuinely enjoy sleeping in piles and staying physically close to other pets, while others prefer personal space and very firm emotional boundaries.

Cats Who Enjoy Cuddling Often:

• Sleep pressed against other pets

Other cats basically treat physical affection like a temporary inconvenience they reluctantly allow for 5 seconds at a time.

And judging by George, at least one Ragdoll believes every available inch of sofa should legally belong to him.

Vet Students' Dogs Pose for the Most Epic Graduation Photo We've Ever Seen

Sat, 05/16/2026 - 6:10pm

Graduation season is in full swing and everyone is getting in on the pomp and circumstance. Tons of parties and celebrations are on the calendar with plenty of memories being captured with photos. Since fur babies are vital family members, our canine companions have to be a part of our pics.

These vet students wanted to commemorate their academic accomplishment with their precious pooches and got them decked out for a special photo shoot.

In the TikTok from @bernerboyz, the vet grads were coaching their canines to stay in position as they got as many pics as possible. The five dogs were different breeds ranging from Corgi to Bernese Mountain Dog, and each donned a graduation cap, complete with a gold tassel.

The fur babies seemed to feel at ease and ready for their close-up. Their spacing on the bench was perfectly placed, and each pup held their pose like a pro. Maybe they've had previous modeling experience, or they are just comfortable being in the spotlight. Regardless, their participation was clearly bringing joy to their moms on their special day.

Followers were impressed with how camera-ready the canines were during all the hubbub.

"Somehow they pose better than my high school son's soccer team," one remarked.

"They all look so proud of their moms," another noted.

"As a photographer, I am very jealous," a follower admitted.

"Wow, they are all getting their dogtorate," someone joked.

How to Get Dogs to 'Pose' for Photos

Getting your dog to sit still for a picture can be a challenge. There are a few simple steps that can help introduce your pooch to having their photo taken:

  • Start with the "sit" and "stay" commands rather than beginning with a complicated pose. Hold your hand out in front of you so they have a visual to stay put.
  • Hold a treat by your face so your dog will look toward the camera. Say "watch me" and give them a treat for positive reinforcement when their eyes are facing you and the camera.
  • Don't use a flash when introducing your dog to photo shoots — it can scare them and be irritating to their eyes.
  • Be very patient and practice. Once they get the simple poses down, you can start trying more creative ones. Follow their cues and don't push if they seem anxious or resistant.

Note: Have plenty of treats on hand — you'll be using a lot of them!

In time, your fur baby may be as photo-ready as this group of grad pups.

Cockatoo Tells Mom 'I Love You' and People Everywhere Are Melting

Sat, 05/16/2026 - 6:00pm

Cockatoos are one of, if not my favorite, animals to watch on the internet. I love to look at them and think about how much I'd love to have one of them, only to know for certain that I absolutely cannot.

They're so cute, though! Just look at this Cockatoo: he loves his mom so much that he made sure to tell her out loud. He doesn't want to leave anything unsaid, and his mom is so grateful:

Buddy the Cockatoo is a man of few words, but the words he knows are the ones that really matter. When his mom says, "I love you, Buddy," he always responds, "Love you, too!" It feels like he really knows and understands what she's saying.

Luckily for him, he gets to say his new favorite words all the time. She tells him she loves him often (because she loves him), so it's pretty easy for him. He gets lots of practice!

Buddy, like any Cockatoo, isn't sweet all the time. Sometimes, his mom tries to be nice and sweet with him, but he's just not having it! Case in point, when he blew her a kiss, and she decided to blow one back:

Even the sweetest boys lose their minds sometimes. Buddy is no exception, even if he makes up for it after by telling Mom he loves her.

Communication or Connection? Why Birds Like Buddy Choose Specific Phrases to Bond With Their Humans

Buddy has lots of things he says to his mom, but "I love you/love you too" are the most common full phrases she hears from him. It's adorable, but what does it actually mean?

Birds, and Cockatoos in particular, can form strong emotional attachments to their favorite humans. They're very social birds who thrive best with affectionate families, and they show love in lots of ways. However, words aren't really one of them.

If a Cockatoo is saying "I love you" a lot, it's because:

  • They hear you say it.
  • They're mimicking you.
  • They know you like it (because you react positively).

Essentially, with birds, it's very much "show, don't tell," but it's really nice when they do both!
