Maine Coon Kittens' Massive Growth Over Just 2 Months Is Beyond Impressive

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 6:10pm

Fur babies seem to grow overnight. Whether you have a puppy or a kitten, it seems like they get bigger every time you blink. Their little bodies grow into their oversized fluffy paws and before you know it, they're able to hold their large heads up and carry themselves with much more coordination. Seeing those little canines and kitties mature into adulthood can be bittersweet since those early days are so downright adorable.

This litter of Maine Coon kittens have all developed quite a bit in just two short months and each pretty kitty is starting to take on their own personality.

In the TikTok from @wildmane_mainecoons, seven adorable Maine Coon kittens each took their turn to model in a "before" and "after" format. The clips showed each tiny kitty at one month, and then again at three months. The comparison could make you do a double take.

"How much Maine Coon kittens grow in 2 months," the onscreen text read as the group of kittens hung out on the stairs. Six of the kittens were gray, and one was black. They were each named after Santa's team of reindeer.

First up was Rudolph, whose fur was the darkest of the litter. Then Prancer, who didn't seem thrilled to be put on display. Vixen was next, with a striking difference in fur growth from month one to three.

Dancer was noticeably larger than two months prior, with those trademark big paws. Dasher's coat seemed to quadruple in fluffiness, considerably more lush than his siblings. Blitzen clearly wasn't happy to be on camera, and Cupid's fur was fuller but not as pronounced.

The quality that stood out the most was each kitten's eyes went from blue in month one to yellow in month three. Both shades were beautiful.

Though some of the siblings grew more than others, each kitten had a marked change in just 60 days.

When Are Maine Coon Cats Fully Grown?

These beautiful cats experience rapid growth at the three-month mark, then continue to noticeably develop until around nine months, when growth slows down.

Maine Coons reach 75-80% adulthood at one year, and full growth at 4 to 5 years. Males weigh between 15 and 25 pounds as adults, and females are usually approximately 10 to 14 pounds.

These pretty kitties seem to be right on schedule and are already irresistible charmers.

Happy Husky Cries Like a Baby When the School Bus Brings Back 'His Girl'

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 4:43pm

Ghost the Husky doesĀ notĀ believe in playing it cool.

In the TikTok video, he’s pacing and quivering at the bus stop, waiting for his girl to come home from school.Ā The second he hears that bus air-brake hiss, he launches into full siren mode—howling, crying, spinning in excited circles like his whole day has been leading up to this moment.Ā My dog Lola deeply relates; she is also a feelings-forward queen who believes the entire neighborhood should be notified whenever something important happens.

@house_ofhusky

Yay! She’s home! 🚌 šŸ§’ šŸ¤ This calls for an awooo + some zoomies

♬ original sound - House of Husky 🐺

When the doors finally open and his girl steps out from behind the bus, Ghost absolutely explodes with joy. His cries get louder, his tail whips harder, and his whole body folds into her like he is trying to merge into one creature. One commenter puts it perfectly: ā€œtelling the world that the favorite person is home! šŸ˜ā€ That’s exactly what it looks like—an emotional press release, powered by Husky lungs.

For us, it’s just the bus schedule. For dogs like Ghost, it is the highlight of the day: the moment their favorite face returns, the routine resets, and the world feels right again. His ā€œbaby criesā€ aren’t sadness; they’re proof of how deeply he’s attached.

Lola is the same way with her favorite people. She might not have a school bus to scream at, but if a beloved friend’s car pulls into the driveway, she lets loose a soundtrack that could probably be heard from space. It is chaotic, loud, and honestly one of the purest expressions of love I’ve ever seen.

Big Feelings, Bigger Bonds

Ghost’s dramatic bus stop routine is adorable, but it also shows how strong the bond can be between dogs and kids. Many dogs build deep emotional attachments to ā€œtheirā€ children, and predictable daily routines—like greeting them at the same time every afternoon—make that connection even stronger. TheĀ American Kennel ClubĀ notes that when kids are involved in simple training and daily care, like feeding, play, and walks, it not only strengthens the dog–child bond but also boosts empathy and responsibility in kids.Ā

Ghost’s howls might sound over the top to some, but they’re really the sound of a heart that’s fully invested. To him, that yellow bus doesn’t just bring kids home—it bringsĀ hisĀ kid home, and that is absolutely worth screaming about.

Cane Corso Tries Caramel for the First Time, and the Drool Says It All

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 4:40pm

If your dogs are anything like mine, no matter what you’re eating, they would love a taste. Whether it’s chicken slow-roasting in the oven, a burger sizzling in the pan, or a crunchy snack straight from the bag, they’re usually nearby, watching with laser focus and patiently waiting for their share.

ForĀ Gauge, aĀ Cane Corso, that moment arrived in the form of a caramel. It may not be a traditional dog treat, but the salty-sweet chew clearly delivered a full sensory experience, and the drool told the rest of the story.

You can watch the memory in the making in this Feb. 9 Instagram from @gauge_corso:

View this post on Instagram

Gauge took his time with the candy, working through each chewy bite with steady focus. As he savored it, drool gathered around his jowls and slowly dripped onto his bed, creating a hypnotic ASMR moment dog lovers understand all too well. For a Cane Corso of his size, it was actually a surprisingly modest amount of drool, which only made the scene more amusing.

Gauge’s fans were fully invested in the experience.

Viewer @vedipriyanka shared, ā€œI can listen to this soundtrack in loops.ā€

And @ihiemeleers joked, ā€œThey made an unfinishing treat for him.ā€

Gauge’s gentle charm shows up everywhere he goes. In a Feb. 12 Instagram, he sweetly greets a delivery driver and receives a special treat.

View this post on Instagram Why Dogs React So Strongly to Sweet Treats

Gauge’s fascination with the caramel isn’t surprising when you consider howĀ dogs experience flavor.Ā According to theĀ American Kennel Club, dogs canĀ detect sweet, sour, salty, and bitter tastes, but smell plays a much larger role in how they decide what’s appealing.Ā While humans have around 9,000 taste buds, dogs haveĀ far fewer, at roughly 1,700. Instead, they rely on an extraordinaryĀ sense of smell that is tens of thousands of times more sensitive thanĀ ours. That powerful scent detection works alongside taste, which is why foods with strong aromas and rich flavors tend to hold their attention.

TheĀ AKCĀ also notes that dogs are especially responsive to sweetness, with taste receptors toward the back of the tongue tuned to detect it. Combined with a chewy texture that slows eating and keeps them engaged, it’s easy to see why Gauge stayed so focused.

🐶SIGN UP to get ā€œpawsitivityā€ delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

Of course, sugary snacks are not meant to be a regular indulgence, but as a rare treat, it’s easy to understand the appeal. Sometimes the best part isn’t the food itself, but watching our dogs focus, show patience, and wear that look of pure satisfaction when they try something new.

New Maine Coon Kitten ā€˜Needs’ To Snuggle Golden Retriever To Sleep

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 4:00pm

Kittens can be a difficult adjustment for their new families. That's something you just need to expect going in, or accept that cats aren't for you. Personally, I know that cats would not do well with my little criminals... I mean, my Boston Terriers.

For one family, though, getting a Maine Coon kitten was the best thing they ever did. He fits right into their world, and even better, he refuses to sleep unless he's snuggling the family Golden Retriever:

@lizfizzzzz

The cuteness is too much. This was his first night home 😭 #mainecoonsoftiktok #goldenretriever #pets #cute #adorableanimals

♬ New Home - Penguin Piano

Liz has a pretty silly family. Before their new Maine Coon kitten got home, the house was still full of kids, Nelly (the Golden Retriever), and their parents! Unfortunately, they haven't shared his name yet.

Nelly is about 4 years old, and she hadn't been around cats before. They were really nervous that she wouldn't respond well to him! Older dogs sometimes have trouble when they're introduced to new:

  • Places
  • Scenery
  • Animals
  • Routines

However, they had nothing to worry about. As soon as he got home, this kitten took a liking to the family, and to Nelly in particular!

Related: Maine Coon-Ragdoll Mix Cat Has the Biggest, Prettiest Eyes in the World

There aren't any more videos of this little boy on their account yet: they just got him! However, Nelly is featured in several other videos. She's a huge part of their family!

When Nelly isn't snuggling her new baby brother, she loves going on walks and hikes with her family. It's always nice to have some alone time! That's what helps her be such a good big sister.

She's got such good energy that she's literally electric. How amazing is that?!

Maine Coon Kittens Need Friends

Main Coons are one of the most friendly, outgoing cat breeds you'll ever meet in your life. While that's perfect and makes for a lot of fun, it also means some extra work. Maine Coon kittens don't do well when they're lonely. That means they need:

  1. Another cat.
  2. A dog.
  3. A very, very involved human companion.

While exactly what will suit them best depends on each individual cat, all Maine Coon kittens will need companionship. Be prepared to be a little annoyed!

Dachshund Unwrapping a Special-Edition HermĆØs Dachshund Scarf Is Calling All Dog Fashion Lovers

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 3:55pm

Who says dogs don't appreciate the finer things in life?

We see that in a new video from an account called @thedachshundedit, which features Dachshund-themed merchandise.

This video features Clementine, who is a Dachshund influencer (yes, those exist), unboxing a rare, limited-edition HermĆØs Dachshund scarf!

Long-haired blond Clementine clearly knows what she is doing as she carefully unwraps the ribbon on the heart-shaped HermĆØs orange box. This is not her first rodeo!

Then, with a little help from Mom, she gets the lid off the box, and out comes the beautiful pink scarf.

When the scarf is laid out flat, we're able to see, though it is a little tricky, the outline of a Dachshund on the scarf amid all the pinks, yellows, and oranges.

The beautiful pink scarf is actually a Valentine’s Day limited-release silk scarf from 2021 called "Woof Woof," which features two Dachshunds and comes in the iconic heart-shaped HermĆØs box.

Clementine's mom was able to find one more of these rare HermĆØs Dachshund scarves, but in her bio, said she had a few more.

Clementine is a very glamorous dog who has traveled the world in style and has over 25k followers.

She is a big fan of HermĆØs, Macha, headscarves, Erewhon smoothies, and really anything glamorous.

Dachshunds Continue To Be the 'It Dogs' of Fashion

Dachshunds continue to be the ā€œIt dogsā€ of fashion.

We have been seeing them spring up not only in fashion design over the last few years but also on mugs, plates, rugs, and lamps (thank you, Anthropologie, HomeGoods, and T.J. Maxx).

ā€œI think it’s the newest, freshest shape we have seen in the market in the last three to four years,ā€ Will Cooper, the senior vice president for women’s designer clothing, shoes, and bags at Saks Fifth Avenue, told The New York Times. ā€œIt feels like something people don’t already have in their wardrobes.ā€

They also make for very cute bag charms or even bags shaped like Dachshunds.

Golden Retriever's Sadness Over Little Human Sibling Going to School Is So Bittersweet

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 2:33pm

There's old footage making the rounds that captures something every dog parent has seen but never quite gets easier to watch: a Golden Retriever standing by the door, toy in mouth, waiting for his best friend to come home from school.

The TikTok shows exactly what happened on this sweet little boy's first day of school.Ā His Golden Retriever brother is sitting right by the door, holding his favorite lovey, completely ready to play the second that school bus pulls up.

The caption hits different: "Why do dogs miss their humans so much?Ā Because to them we are not just part of the day.Ā We are the day.Ā Their routine revolves around us.Ā Their safety is connected to us.Ā Their joy is tied to our presence.Ā They do not understand time the way we do.Ā They only understand together and not together.Ā So when we leave, they wait for us to return."

@doodoobabyee

Why do dogs miss their humans so much Because to them we are not just part of the day We are the day Their routine revolves around us Their safety is connected to us Their joy is tied to our presence They do not understand time the way we do They only understand together and not together So when we leave They wait #goldenretriever #doglove #familydog #petparent #unconditionallove

♬ original sound - WBsongs

That pretty much sums up the entire emotional experience of seeing a devoted dog wait for someone they love to come home.

The comments section got emotional fast.Ā "Some people don't understand the love these babies give us!Ā ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø" wrote one person.

Someone else went philosophical: "I will say this 1000 times over, we simply do not deserve the unconditional, pure love that a dog gives šŸ’•"

Related: Famous Foster Mom's Dog Has Beef With His Mirror Reflection and We Can't Stop Laughing

Others related hard to the feeling. "IĀ hate when I have to leave" and "I love my little buddy.Ā He is always by my side" captured that two-way bond.

One commenter offered perfect advice for the future: "Save this for later when your sweet boy is having a hard day."

Golden Retrievers Form Deep Emotional Attachments to Family Members

Here's what science tells: dogs genuinely miss us when we're gone, and the bond is real.
A 2020 study from Azabu University in Japan monitored 50 dogs during their humans' absences and found they experienced measurably increased stress—higher heart rates, more pacing, more vocalizations.Ā The longer the separation, the more intense their emotional response became.

Dogs also form unique attachments with each person in a household.Ā They can display different behaviors depending on which specific family member is missing.

So when this Golden Retriever stands at that door with his toy, he's not just bored or confused.Ā He's experiencing genuine longing for his little human.Ā Dogs don't understand time like we do—they just know "together" and "not together."

Which means every school day feels indefinite until that door opens and his best friend walks back through it.

Toy ready.Ā Heart full.Ā Just waiting.

People Are All Making the Same Joke After Lovable Boykin Spaniel Accidentally Superglues Her Mouth Shut: 'At a Loss for Words'

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 2:18pm

Being a pet parent means understanding that no matter how chill your fur baby might be, at one point or another, they’re bound to get into something. Whether that means taking the opportunity to sneak a helping of pork rinds and getting their head stuck in the container or you’ve got a cat who’s suddenly fascinated with the matchbooks on your coffee table, pets can be their very own brand of mischievous to say the least. Although their endless curiosity is part of what makes them so endearing, sometimes our furry little ones can really put our patience to the test.Ā

Much like we do with our parents, pets sometimes find themselves in situations that make us question everything, only to realize that some things are beyond explanation. Like when Milo decides to wrap his leash around a tree and then won’t budge, or when our cat randomly decides to sink their claws into whatever is closest to them. No, being a pet parent isn’t for the faint of heart, but at least it isn’t boring—right?

Of course, as eventful as our personal escapades with our four-legged friends can be, sometimes we’re reminded that we’re not alone in looking at our fur baby with a side eye. In one of the most relatable posts that we’ve seen in a while, TikToker @bailey_lewis94 shows her adorable chocolate-colored Boykin Spaniel with something white around her mouth that looks like milk or ice cream. To be honest, we’d prefer either over what it actually ended up being—superglue. Yep, the adorably innocent-looking Lila Kay managed to puncture a hole in a tube of super glue and then proceeded to glue her mouth shut.Ā

♬ Heartwarming, everyday, funny BGM(1194980) - K's note

Fortunately, according to the caption, the mischievous pooch is OK, but that didn’t stop the comments from rolling in, with several users cracking the same joke. ā€œMy lips are sealed,ā€ quipped one person. ā€œSo she can keep a secret is what you’re saying šŸ˜‚,ā€ razzed someone else. A few others chimed in about what they initially thought the mystery substance was, with several saying ā€œpowdered doughnut.ā€

What to Do If Your Pup Ingests Superglue by Mistake

While the presumably stressed dog mom didn’t share any details about exactly how the situation was remedied, the good news is that, according to an article by Pet Place, dogs that ingest small amounts of superglue generally experience little to no symptoms.Ā That being said, before trying to remove the superglue yourself, you should always consult with a vet to make sure your pup is truly OK. In conclusion, there’s never a dull moment when you’ve got a pet by your side—and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 1:55pm

Every cat has their thing. Some are obsessed with cardboard boxes. Others live for laser pointers. And then there’s Jinx, whose true love appears to be…rocks.

In a popular TikTok posted by a woman named Kristie (@kristie_in_agap), Jinx is finally reunited with her beloved ā€œrock buddiesā€ after a long winter, and her reaction is nothing short of emotional.

Jinx Reunites With Her "Rock Buddies" @kristie_in_agape

The video's caption reads, ā€œJinx gets to see her outside rock buddies for the first time in months. Look how happy she is. I have rocks in every room for her at this point. šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ„°ā€

As soon as Kristie opens the front door, Jinx makes a beeline for a pile of rocks on the porch like she’s greeting long-lost friends. She immediately begins rolling around, rubbing her face against them, flopping dramatically and wiggling with pure joy.

From behind the camera, Kristie narrates the sweet reunion: ā€œGet your rock buddies. I know. I know, you love them so much. They’ve been out here all winter.ā€

The Internet Is ObsessedĀ

Viewers were instantly charmed by Jinx’s rock obsession.

ā€œYour pet has pet rocks that’s so cute,ā€ one viewer wrote in the video’s comment section.Ā

ā€œShe is a geologist 🄰,ā€ joked another.

And perhaps the sweetest comment of all: ā€œThe fact that you invest in her interests and honor her unique individuality.ā€

As mentioned above, Kristie shared that she now keeps rocks in every room of the house for Jinx, which, frankly, is next-level pet parenting. Because sometimes, loving your cat means embracing the fact that their true passion in life is a collection of porch rocks.

Why Does She Love Rocks So Much?

Cats often rub and roll on objects to mark them with their scent. When Jinx presses her face and body against the rocks, she’s likely claiming them as part of her territory.

Additionally, some cats are drawn to unique textures or surfaces that feel good against their face or body. Think about how many cats love sprawling out on a cool concrete slab or sidewalk on a warm day. The firmness, temperature and slightly rough texture can be incredibly satisfying. For Jinx, the shape and feel of her favorite rocks may offer a similar sensory experience—sturdy, cool and perfectly rub-worthy.

Whatever the reason, one thing is clear: those porch rocks are beloved companions. And judging by that full-body roll and blissed-out expression, Jinx is very happy to have her buddies back.

These Cats Invented Their Own Baseball-Like Game, and It’s ESPN-Worthy

Move over, Major League Baseball. There’s a new league in town, and it’s happening in someone’s living room.

In a popular TikTok posted by Justin of @followmycrazycatlife and captioned ā€œcat baseball,ā€ three cats have the internet laughing and genuinely impressed. The on-screen text reads, ā€œmy cats have invented their own game. 😹 ,ā€ and after watching the clip, it’s hard to argue with that.

Cats Take Turns Launching Their Toy @followmycrazycatlife

Cat Baseball 😁🐾

♬ original sound - Justin Plain Jones

Their owner explained that he attached ā€œsome little $4.99 hanging bird toyā€ to the ceiling with a nail and a few square knots. The toy appears to be a fluffy bird attached to an elastic string. Simple enough. But what these cats turned it into is nothing short of a full-blown athletic event.

Here's How It Works

One cat grabs the dangling bird in their mouth and stretches the elastic as far as it will go, sometimes even pulling it around corners,Ā building suspense like a pitcher winding up. Then, release!

The toy springs back toward the ceiling, bouncing wildly as the cats chase it down. Then another cat takes a turn, grabbing the bird in their mouth and pulling it taut before letting it fly again.

To make things even better, the entire clip is set to baseball-style announcer commentary, complete with play-by-play energy that makes each launch feel like a game-winning home run.

Related: Golden Retriever Falls in Love With a Baseball Bat and They Really Hit It Off

The Internet Is Ready to Draft Them

Viewers are just as obsessed as you’d expect.

ā€œThis is so funny how do they choose who gets to pull it? šŸ˜ā€ one viewer asked in the video’s comment section. ā€œStandard lineup,ā€ another answered.Ā

ā€œWestern conference is so loaded this year,ā€ someone else added.

One viewer even noted, ā€œThat’s interesting, I had no idea that cats would engage in collaborative play.ā€

That might be the most fascinating part. Cats are known for solo zoomies and independent play, but this looks genuinely coordinated. The way they appear to wait, watch and then step in for their turn makes it feel less like random chaos and more like an organized league sport.

I guess we'll never know if they consciously ā€œinventedā€ rules amongst themselves or simply fell into a rhythm, but regardless, one thing is clear: these cats are having the best time.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I'm waiting for the playoff bracket.

Shelter German Shepherd-Husky Mix With ā€˜Butter’ Coat Pleads for Forever Home With the Sweetest Look

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 11:00am

You'd be surprised at the number of absolutely stunning dogs who end up in rescues. While some might think that you need to go through a breeder to find those show-stopping pups, there are so many who already need homes!

Recently, one German Shepherd-Husky mix totally won everyone's hearts. He's been sprung from the shelter and is currently "buttering up" his foster mom, but he still needs a forever home. One look and you'll be ready to welcome him in:

@darlenezisa

Darlene Zisa, like everyone else who lays eyes on this boy, is completely in love with him. She's giving him a loving home while he awaits his forever family, which they're constantly looking for. Chop is:

  • 3 years old.
  • A perfect, creamy shade of yellow.
  • Calm.
  • Gentle.
  • Good with other dogs.

He's located in Maryland, though they're willing to help transport him to the right family. Additionally, his adoption fees have been waived! You can take this sweet baby home for free!

Right now, they're working on training with Chop. He's potty-trained already, but he's brushing up on his other skills. Since he's a mix between two very intelligent, highly trainable breeds, he's doing well!

Just like both Huskies and German Shepherds, though, Chop can be a little stubborn sometimes. He'd do best in a family that can keep up with his training and his love of playing!

He's such a pretty boy. If I lived closer and didn't already have three dogs, I would totally take him in!

Is a German Shepherd-Husky Right For You?

The German Shepherd-Husky is more common than it seems, especially in shelters. Whether they're a perfect 50/50 mix or they have other breeds in them, as well, these dogs have very strong opinions and personalities. German Shepherd-Huskies need:

  • Exercise
  • Enrichment
  • A lot of food
  • Affection
  • Space

If you're not super active, don't spend a lot of time at home, and don't have a lot of experience with dogs, this might not be the right breed. However, for the right family, they make genuinely wonderful companions!

Costco's Sleek and 'Gorgeous Looking' Cat Tree Is the Stylish Upgrade Your Pet Deserves

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 10:55am

For many dedicated pet owners, our feline companions are more than just animals; they are beloved family members we enjoy cuddling with from time to time. However, as any seasoned cat parent knows, these independent creatures frequently crave a space of their own, which is often described as a necessary vertical sanctuary. Providing a dedicated area for your pet is essential because it is said to satisfy a cat’s most basic primal instinct to climb and survey their territory from a high vantage point.

This environmental enrichment is vital for ensuring long-term safety and security, as well as promoting feline physical health and maintenance through active play. Furthermore, a high-quality structure is an excellent investment for protecting the furniture in your home, as it redirects natural scratching behaviors away from your expensive couches and toward a designated, satisfying surface.

Woman Meets Stray Dog on Morning Run, Comes Back 24 Hours Later for a Surprise

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 10:48am

Some adoptions happen over weeks of planning, while others are decided in a single afternoon. Sometimes, life just sends you a sign that you need to get that dog. Before you can even think about it, that dog might completely change your life.

For one woman going for her morning run, that is exactly what happened. While on her run, Amy Kanakuri of Oahu, Hawaii, saw a dog that followed her for a while. The dog was friendly, wagging her tail and running alongside her. She got back home, but she couldn't stop thinking about the dog she had seen.

The next day, she decided to go back and check on her. And surprise, surprise, she found the dog in the exact same spot. Many stray dogs remain in the same area, hoping that someone will come back for them. And for this lucky girl, someone did.

@followamyhere

Not on our 2026 bingo card🐾🦓 We're in the process of legally adopting her. Literally balling my eyes out making this. Getting this house was not something we planned but it couldn't have come at a more perfect time. Somehow we found each other. After taking the dog to the vet to check whether she was microchipped, the woman made a life-changing decision. She wanted to adopt the stray dog. As she says in the video, "I didn't expect to get a dog this morning. But I just wanted her to be safe. I think now we have a dog."

The Internet's Reaction

Kanakuri (@followamyhere) doesn't have a huge TikTok following. But the story quickly went viral, receiving more than 2.6 million likes. Almost 20,000 people commented, writing things like, "poor baby, happy you found her," "she's gonna be safe and loved," and "congrats on your new baby." But as one commenter put it plainly, "she chose you."

Stories like this are what make the world feel a little brighter. This dog didn't have to wait for days or months in a shelter. While she likely spent much of her life on the streets, within 24 hours of meeting Kanakuri, she was on her way to her forever home.

What to Do If You Find a Stray Dog

Stray dogs often survive by staying in one familiar area. For this dog, what began as a quiet encounter on a morning run turned into a forever family.

While not everyone adopts a stray dog they meet, we can all do something to help. First, assess the dog's behavior. Never approach a dog that is showing signs of fear or aggression, such as a tucked tail, bared teeth, or growling.

Stay at a distance and try to lure the dog with a soft voice or food. If the dog is friendly enough to approach, check for identification.

Next, contact local animal rescue groups or authorities, such as animal control or the police. They can check reports of lost pets in the area. At the very least, take a clear photo and post it on social media in local lost-and-found groups.

Golden Retriever Puppy Learning How to Use Stairs Oversteps and It's Too Cute

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 10:10am

My Pug mix is a rescue from Puerto Rico. When we first brought him home, he had to make the adjustments most dogs do when they are first adopted. We soon discovered that our fur baby didn't know how to navigate stairs. He would stand at the bottom of the staircase and just gaze at the steps, completely confused about how to get from point A to point B. Going down the steps was even more daunting. With time and patience — and a lot of missteps — he learned how to take one step at a time.

Finley the Golden Retriever puppy just started learning how to use the stairs and seems to be taking the challenge head on.

@goldenboy.finley

It’s a work in progress 😊

♬ original sound - Finley The Golden

In the TikTok from @goldenboy.finley, the precious puppy stood at the top of the steps and looked down. Finley didn't seem nervous at all and was prepared to start his descent.

He started off like a champ, with both fluffy paws landing at the same time on each step. Then Finley may have gotten a little overconfident, or the sheer velocity of his downward motion took over.

The canine cutie switched to putting one paw down at a time and sped things up. Finley overstepped his mark and found himself stumbling down several steps, unable to find his footing. His mom stopped the slide so Finley could regroup and try again. The canine cutie didn't appear discouraged or embarrassed and probably wanted to give it another try.

Followers cheered for Finley and encouraged his brave attempts to master the stairs.

"Hey, we’ve all been there! Don’t give up!" one shared.

"Be careful buddy!!" another advised.

"A for effort!!" someone raved.

At What Age Should Puppies Use Stairs?

Puppies are known for their playful personalities, which often come with a lot of clumsiness. These fluffy fur babies aren't very coordinated or self-controlled in those first stages of life. Weak joint strength, along with gravity, can make climbing and descending stairs a challenge.

Related: Golden Retriever Puppy Discovers Lemon Isn't a Tennis Ball and Her Reaction Is Priceless

Twelve to 16 weeks of age is usually a safe time frame to start teaching your puppy how to navigate the steps, depending on their size and health. If your pup is on the small side or has joint issues, you may have to wait until they are strong enough to handle the task.

Finley's strength and size seem right on target — he may just have to curtail his excitement.

Maine Coon Cat Gets ā€˜Friend-Zoned’ by His Valentine and the Ladies Are Lining Up

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 10:00am

Valentine's Day has come and gone. To be honest, no one is more appreciated than my pets on Valentine's Day: you best believe they all got special gifts. Also, they ran away when I tried to give them kisses.

One poor Maine Coon is in the same boat as I was, unfortunately. He set his sights on a very pretty Valentine, but she wasn't feeling it. This handsome boy ended up in the friend zone:

@mugenkoon

Poor guy 😭 #funnycat #cutecat #valentines #catlover #catlife

♬ Welp, Didn't Expect That - Yu-Peng Chen & HOYO-MiX

Mugen the Maine Coon is handsome enough to land any Valentine he wants... Except for that one. Luckily, it's not super awkward: they don't live together. They might see each other occasionally, though.

Most likely, Mugen was rejected by his Valentine because he's:

  1. Really, really big.
  2. A little too outgoing for her taste.
  3. Off-limits; maybe another cat in their neighborhood called dibs? Girl code is real!

Whatever the case, he'll live. He just has to turn back to his first love: the mountains.

Related: Maine Coon Cat’s Mountain Hike Proves To Be One of Nature’s Best Views

Mugen lives in Vancouver, BC, with his parents. He loves hiking and traveling, and sometimes he gets to meet up with other pet influencers. Who needs a Valentine when you have that many friends?

Him, actually. When things didn't work out with his first-choice Valentine, he met up with a Siberian cat. Safe to say, they hit it off:

@mugenkoon

It was love at first smack! šŸ’˜ Mugen and @Freyja the Adventure Cat ran into each other at the @NHVpetBoutique Valentine’s event and did a lil impromptu photoshoot together. Things started with a little rough ā€œboundary settingā€ (just cats being cats), but they were totally fine once the Valentine cards were exchanged and they shared an indirect Churu kiss šŸ’•šŸ„¹ Thank you NHV for hosting us, we can’t wait to share the photos they took together! #catlove #cutecat #catsoftiktok #catstories #valentine

♬ original sound - Mugen the Maine Coon šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦

That's a win! I mean, definitely a little bit of a toxic situation, but I'm sure they'll work it out.

Maine Coons Are Very Friendly

Part of Mugen's problem is that he puts himself out there for cats who just don't get him. It sounds like he needs a girlfriend who can keep up with his lifestyle, and more importantly, one who loves new friends.

Maine Coons are famously outgoing. Most of them love:

  1. Meeting new friends.
  2. Seeing other cats.
  3. Other animals, depending on how they were raised.
  4. Visiting new places.

Maine Coons are super friendly, which is awesome, but could also potentially create some trouble for them. Other cats may view them as a threat, which could lead to swatting. Just be mindful and, if the other cat is uncomfortable, go ahead and let them go!

Foster Pit Bull Puppy Is So Tiny He Looks Just Like a Baby Piglet

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 9:55am

Some puppies are cute. And then some puppies are so tiny and pink and squishy that you briefly forget what species you’re looking at. This foster Pit Bull puppy? He falls into the second category.

He’s curled up on a soft faux fur blanket wearing a little shirt, looking impossibly small, when he suddenly rolls over and shows his belly like it’s the grand finale of a performance. And that belly. It’s round. It’s pink. It’s suspiciously piglet-coded. Everyone on the internet who has seen this tiny little puppy has fallen head over heels, bonkers in love with him. It's so easy to see why!

@we.three.pitties

I just wanna smooch his belly so bad 😩 Piglet 🐷 has the best little tum tum on the planet, don’t try to prove me wrong 🄺 What would you do if he rolled over and showed you his little belly like this?! Follow along for daily Piglet updates 🐷 #fosterpuppy #cutepuppy #puppybelly #pitbullpuppy #cutedog

♬ Little Sparrow - Paul Alan Morris

@we.three.pitties captioned the TikTok video, ā€œWatch my house pig show off his tum -tum to me. I just wanna smooch his belly so bad. Piglet has the best little tum-tum on the planet. Don’t try to prove me wrong. What would you do if he rolled over and showed you his little belly like this?!ā€

Honestly? I would lose all chill.

Related: Rescued Pit Bull’s First ā€˜Girl Time’ Moment Is the Sweetest

The way he rolls onto his back is not crazy. It’s on purpose. Like he knows exactly what he’s doing. His tiny merle body stretches out, little legs in the air, pink tummy exposed, and suddenly, the nickname Piglet feels extremely accurate.

ā€œHe legit looks like a piglet. I can’t take his cuteness!ā€

ā€œLittle pink tummy!ā€

ā€œI am literally in love with Piglet or Pork Chop.ā€

ā€œHow willing I am to drive across the country for him is stupid.ā€

ā€œDo I already have five rescues? Yes. Would I drive miles and miles for this guy? Also, yesā€¦ā€

ā€œI would die for Piglet. Such a cutie patootie!ā€

ā€œI would just melt and give him all the tummy rubs his heart desires!ā€

And here’s the thing about tiny Pit Bull puppies. When they’re this small, they have that round, smooth baby look that almost doesn’t match what people expect from the breed. He looks less like a future powerhouse and more like a warm dinner roll with legs. Which is a weird sentence, but I stand by it.

When Meatball was a kitten, he had this phase where his belly was slightly pink and dramatically off-limits. He would flop over and then immediately grab your hand like, ā€œActually, no.ā€ Piglet, on the other hand, seems fully committed to the tum-tum lifestyle.

Also, I’m not saying I would absolutely bury my face in that belly and make embarrassing baby noises, but… I mean.

Why Fostering Saves Lives @adoptapet

Three reasons why fostering is so important! #dogsoftiktok #rescuedog #fosteringsaveslives #fosterdog

♬ Together (Instrumental) - Louis Stephens

Behind all the cuteness, it’s important to remember that this tiny ā€œhouse pigā€ is a foster puppy. Fostering plays an important role in animal rescue by providing temporary homes for pets who might otherwise remain in overcrowded shelters.

Foster homes give puppies like this one a safe space to grow, socialize, and receive medical care while they wait for permanent families. It also frees up space in shelters for other animals in need.

For breeds like Pit Bulls, which are often misunderstood, fostering can make an enormous difference. It allows people to see their personalities, their softness, their ridiculous piglet bellies, and realize they’re not just headlines. They’re babies. Messy, wiggly, affectionate babies.

And sometimes, they’re babies who look suspiciously like piggies in the most adorable way possible.

If you are interested in becoming a foster dog parent, please check with your local humane society or animal shelter.

Golden Retriever Joins Random Bachelorette Party's Photo and It's Even Better Than It Sounds

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 9:33am

Vader the Golden Retriever didĀ notĀ come to play. He came to pose.

In a TikTok post, his human explains that a random bachelorette party asked if they could take a photo with her Golden. Before she can even finish a thought, Vader is already scooching into the middle of the group like he’s the guest of honor. He plants himself front and center, chest out, tail wagging, certain that this is his moment. One commenter sums it up perfectly: ā€œTHE WAY HE'S SO PROUD TO BE THERE.ā€

@vaderrthegolden

he can never turn down a photo with pretty ladies

♬ original sound - armin arshe

If my dog Lola were there, she would be screaming at that whole group like an unamused security guard.Ā Vader, on the other hand, is the opposite of security. He is the unofficial social chair, event coordinator, and emotional support golden boy all in one. You can tell this isn’t his first time stepping into the spotlight—he weaves between the women, leans into the pets, and gives that happy, slightly goofy Golden grin that says,Ā ā€œYes, hello, I am the bachelor now.ā€

The post caption says, ā€œhe can never turn down a photo with pretty ladies.ā€ And honestly? We respect a dog who knows his brand. Vader isn’t just tolerating the attention; he’s thriving on it. Head high, eyes bright, soaking up the compliments like confetti.

No awkwardness, no hesitation—just a dog who trusts people, loves being out in the world, and sees a group of strangers as instant friends.Ā The whole interaction is over in a few seconds, but it feels like a tiny snapshot of everything we love about Goldens: friendly, confident, a little extra, and absolutely convinced that every gathering is secretly about them.

Social Butterflies on Four Legs

Vader sliding into a bachelorette photo like he was invited is cute, but it also shows how powerful good socialization can be. Dogs who’ve had lots of positive experiences with new people, places, and sounds tend to move through the world with the kind of relaxed confidence Vader has.Ā TheĀ American Kennel ClubĀ notes that early, gentle exposure to different environments and friendly strangers helps dogs grow into well-adjusted adults who can handle crowds, surprises, and attention without fear.

So if your pup is more Lola-screaming-at-the-crowd than Vader-striking-a-pose, there’s hope—and maybe, with time, treats, and patience, they’ll be ready for their own red-carpet moment… or at least a calm hello on the sidewalk.

Famous Foster Mom's Dog Has Beef With His Mirror Reflection and We Can't Stop Laughing

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 9:30am

Simon has welcomed dozens of foster dogs into his home without so much as a side-eye.Ā But that dog in the hotel mirror?Ā Absolutely suspicious.

Isabel Klee, the beloved foster mom and content creator behind @SimonSits, captured the whole thing on TikTok while checking into a hotel with Simon, her Jindo/Corgi mix rescue dog. The caption says "Simon has some serious beef with the dog in the mirror 😤" and honestly, that undersells the drama.

"We just got to a hotel, and Simon, for whatever reason, is terrified of his reflection in the mirror, even though he's seen mirrors a million times before," Isabel explains in the video.Ā "I don't know if this one is, like, extra clean or it's the lighting, but he's not having it.Ā He does not like that dog."

@simonsits

Simon has some serious beef with the dog in the mirror 😤

♬ There Is Something On Your Mind - Big Jay McNeely

She and her fiancé, Jacob try everything to show him that it's okay. Jacob touches the mirror to show him it's not real. He points out his own reflection. She coaxes him closer with "come put your nose on it." Simon is unmoved. That dog is suspicious and Simon wants everyone to know it.

The comments absolutely sent people.Ā "Simon... Foster brother to DOZENS of dogs.Ā Yet the only dog he doesn't like is his own reflection," wrote one viewer, identifying the exact irony that makes this so funny.

"The most patient, accepting dog of all time refuses to accept himself," observed another commenter, which is honestly profound.

Photo by Jamie McCarthy on Getty Images

Other reactions were pure comedy gold.Ā "He said, 'It's mama….and the enemy 🤨'" wrote one fan, while another added, "I mean, that dog IS barking at him, so... šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ©·"

The absolute winner though? "The call is coming from inside the house, sweet boy šŸ’•šŸ˜‚"

Why Don't Dogs Recognize Themselves in Mirrors?

Simon isn't unusual here—dogs genuinely don't recognize their own reflections.
When dogs see themselves in a mirror, they typically react as if they're seeing another dog entirely. StrangerĀ danger! They might bark, growl, act curious, or back away. This isĀ because dogs rely primarily on scent for identity and recognition, not visual cues. A reflection has no smell, so it registers as a strange, silent dog who keeps copying their moves—which is frankly suspicious behavior.

Related: '70-Pound Mama's Boy' Golden Retriever Refuses to Go Outside in the Cold—His Feelings Are Hurt

Dogs also don't pass what scientists call the mirror self-recognition test, which measures whether animals understand they're seeing themselves. AnimalsĀ like great apes, dolphins and elephants do pass it, but dogs experience the world differently. Their self-awareness comes through smell and social interactions rather than visual reflection.

So whenĀ Simon stares down that hotel mirror dog with visible annoyance, he genuinely believes he's encountered an unknown adversary who won't respond, has no scent, and is aggressively copying everything he does.

Given all that? Simon'sĀ reaction is completely reasonable.

The mirror dog started it.

Golden Retriever Puppy's Very First Car Wash Is Full of the Cutest Confusion

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 9:30am

It's a little overwhelming even just to imagine what it's like to be a puppy, brand new to the world. Everything is unfamiliar, and you don't always understand what's going on around you... whether you're taking a walk through your new neighborhood or letting your pup ride with you during an automatic car wash for the first time.

Speaking of the car wash... some dogs will be really into it, and some dogs will really want nothing to do with it, and there is very little in between. And like we can see from the video of this Golden Retriever puppy below, some of them won't even be able to process what's happening outside of the car.

Over the weekend, @honey.the.mini.golden shared this sweet video of their puppy, Honey, looking completely shocked (and maybe even a little panicked) over her first trip through the car wash.

At first, her eyes get so big that they're almost in disbelief, and then, she is very visibly alarmed by the sponges on the outside of the windows, as we all are the first time we go in a car wash.

Honey was very brave. I wonder if she'll ever be willing to set paw in another car wash again, though...

Why Some Dogs Get Anxious at the Car Wash

The first time your dog goes through a car wash, it can be a very overwhelming experience for them in the way that it typically is anytime they're in an unfamiliar situation. Some dogs will get used to it and even come to enjoy those drives through the car wash, and others will always hate it no matter what!

As one car wash blog explains, the experience itself can be anxiety-inducing even for dogs who have been there before because of the combination of lights, sounds, and being moved around. That's overstimulation central, after all, and it's not like we have any way to really explain to them what's going on.

To make it a little easier on them, you can try playing calm music, bringing along a familiar toy or blanket, and offering treats as positive reinforcement. I don't know many dogs who would say no to that.

If you have a dog who's been through the car wash a couple of times and still doesn't seem to like it, the best move might be to run that errand when your pup isn't with you. Their nervous system will thank you!
