’90s Rock Band’s Classic Song Hits 1 Billion Streams After 22 Years
After 22 years, Green Day's classic song "Wake Me Up When September Ends" surpassed one billion streams on Spotify, officially joining the "Billions Club". The milestone occurred on Saturday morning, prompting Green Day to share a celebratory post on Instagram.
"Wake Me Up When September Ends" marks the band's fourth song to reach one billion streams; "Basket Case," "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and "American Idiot" have also reached the milestone. Their 1997 song "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" is also inching toward a billion streams, currently resting at 994 million.
The classic song was released in 2004 as the fourth single on the band's Grammy Award-winning seventh studio album, American Idiot. "Wake Me Up When September Ends" went on to achieve certified Platinum status and won a MTV Video Music Award for Best Rock Video in 2006.

Right-Wing Influencer Emily Austin Doubles Down After Viral Reaction to Billie Eilish’s Grammy Speech
A viral Grammys moment is still sparking debate, with conservative commentator Emily Austin pushing back against backlash over her live reaction to Billie Eilish’s acceptance speech.
Austin, a podcaster, sports journalist, and social media personality, filmed herself watching Eilish’s remarks during the Sunday, February 1, ceremony in Los Angeles. In the clip, which quickly spread online, Austin appeared visibly stunned and made faces as Eilish used her time onstage to condemn U.S. immigration enforcement and encourage activism—which prompted applause from parts of the audience inside the arena.
After criticism poured in, Austin, 24, addressed the response directly on X. “Despite all the hate I got, I love America. Even Bad Bunny’s Grammy speech honored the dream of those who had to leave their homes to succeed — IN AMERICA,” she wrote. She continued, “This country is a place of opportunity—and it wouldn’t be what it is without our law enforcement who protect our freedoms.”
The influencer expanded on her position during an appearance on The Will Cain Show on Monday, February 2, where she questioned the sincerity of celebrity activism. “It's all fake. How many people approached me, whispered, 'you're so brave, we agree with you.' If only they spoke up!” she said. She also accused celebrities of being “all performative and theatrical," adding that “you cannot believe a word that they're saying. All these celebrities love to preach, dismantle the very systems they depend on.”
Different opinions wouldn’t feel so extreme if more public figures were willing to speak up, especially about loving their country.

Following the interview, Austin reshared the clip on X, writing, “Different opinions wouldn’t feel so extreme if more public figures were willing to speak up, especially about loving their country. Thanks for having me on @WillCainShow @willcain.”

The whole conversation started after Eilish, 24, and her brother Finneas won Song of the Year for “Wildflower.” During her acceptance speech at the 68th annual Grammy Awards, Eilish thanked her peers before making her political statement. “As grateful as I feel, I honestly don’t feel like I need to say anything but that no one is illegal on stolen land,” she said, later urging activism and protest. She ended her remarks bluntly: “And our voices really do matter, and the people matter. F**k ICE. That’s all I’m going to say. Sorry. Thank you so much.”
The timing of the controversy is notable. Austin’s comments surfaced just hours after Turning Point USA announced its lineup for an alternative halftime show airing during Super Bowl Sunday, positioning itself as a counterpoint to the NFL’s official entertainment. The lineup includes Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett, and many fans online are curious if the views will stack up against Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance.

An Etiquette Expert Is Begging You To Stop Using This Phrase in Emails
Do you consider yourself a master of writing emails? Barely find problems when you proofread before hitting the “send” button? The truth of the matter is that a lot of people can relate to this; whether you work in a corporate company, own your own business or are in college, we all write emails on such a regular basis that we're "pros" at it. Or so we think. There might actually be phrases or words we use repeatedly, or that come across as unprofessional, without realizing it. This can hinder the essence of your messages, but unless you take a class in etiquette and professionalism, you wouldn't necessarily know that.
Emails serve a major role in terms of clarity and tone when contacting someone, especially if you're reaching out to someone for the first time. Nikki Sawhney—an etiquette consultant as well as the founder and director of the New England School of Protocol—states that it is key for students and employees to maintain professionalism in their correspondences.
“Emails don’t interrupt others like a call or a text does. However, writing an email demands attention and conveys a lot about the sender and their intent,” she tells Parade.
If you ever ran into a situation where your email was never followed up on, or you were lost for words, it’s time to reconsider your proficiency game. And you can start with Sawhney's tip to stop using this one phrase in emails altogether.

The #1 Phrase an Etiquette Expert Wants You To Stop Using in EmailsThere are many phrases that you're probably familiar with when it comes to electronically contacting someone: “Hope you're well,” “Please find attached” and “I wanted to update you"—the list goes on and on. However, there’s one phrase that Sawhney wishes people would stop overusing in their emails: "I know you’re probably busy."
”It sounds submissive, apologetic and minimizes your authority," she explains. "Receivers may find it weak and passive."
With this phrase showcasing a lack of ownership or sureness, she suggests using the phrase "Could you let me know?" instead, if applicable. This phrase is embedded in clarity, confidence and courtesy, three components that are highly necessary when it comes to formatting emails.
Related: An Etiquette Expert Is Begging People To Stop This ‘Surprisingly Rude’ Habit in Group Settings
Normally, when we send emails, we often tend to use the same language over and over again. It can become so much of a comfortable pattern that we don't really pay mind to how it can come across to those receiving our emails. Because of this, we usually have no intention of breaking out of that "comfort zone." But every receiver is going to carry a different level of communication, so it’s important to study their style and tone to ensure accuracy. Plus, you want to avoid sounding repetitive or like you're using a template to them every time you communicate.
In terms of phrases that Sawhney advises people not to use as well, she suggests not using:
- "Sorry to bother you"
- "I just wanted to"
- "If you don’t mind, could you"
- "If that’s okay with you"
These phrases lack trust and showcase uncertainty.
“Using phrases like 'I just wanted to reach out' or ‘If it’s okay with you’ makes emails submissive and less authoritative,” Sawhney tells Parade. “It can reduce credibility and undermine the importance of the email and the sender.”

If you want to sound more professional and assertive in emails, below are phrases that Sawhney swears by:
- “How are you?" — It sounds direct.
- “Hope you had a nice weekend.” — It sounds friendly and warm.
- “Following up on our precious conversation” — This reads as professional and attentive.
- “Could you please…” — This is polite.
- “I look forward to collaborating” — This sounds excited and professional.
- “Please let me know if you have any questions or need any additional information.” — This says to the other person, "I’m here for you if needed."
- “I wanted to...” — This reads as direct and to the point.

How Can People Stay Formal and Professional in Their Emails? No matter what your profession is, emails are an essential method of communication. Struggling to maintain formality or professionalism in your messages can become harder later on, even if it’s something simple like sending a follow-up. There are many factors to consider when formatting these notes, such as tone, structure and grammar; all of these impact how they view your character and your sincerity.
“The sender must understand who their audience is, what is the purpose of the email and what is the message that they are trying to convey,” Sawhney explains.
She also states that treating an email like a “purposeful document” can ensure a positive attitude and direct transmission.
“Communicating in [this] way reflects positively on you,” she states. “An email represents you, your professionalism, your character and how you are perceived.”

Gabby Barrett Joins Turning Point USA's Alternative Halftime Show on Super Bowl Sunday, Fans React
As Super Bowl Sunday approaches, the halftime conversation isn’t just about football this year— politics has weaseled its way into the chat.
While the NFL’s official halftime show will feature Grammy Award-winning artist Bad Bunny, a very different musical event is taking shape online. Turning Point USA, the conservative nonprofit founded by Charlie Kirk, announced it will stream an “All-American Halftime Show” as an alternative to the main broadcast.
The lineup, so far, includes Kid Rock, Lee Brice, Brantley Gilbert, and now, country star Gabby Barrett.
The announcement, shared Monday, February 2, to TPUSA’s Instagram account, quickly ignited strong reactions across social media.
View this post on Instagram“LETS GOOOOO👏🔥,” one supporter wrote in the comments, while another disagreed, noting, “Lmao nobody watching this sh*t”
Some cheered for the 25-year-old singer with comments like, “I love Gabby. This is amazing!” and, “I am so glad they picked you!!!!! @gabbybarrett_.”
But others were extremely disappointed in Barrett’s move. “Noooooooo gabby 😢😢😢😢 I loved you,” one stated. “Really disappointed with Gabby being there 😢,” said another.
Barrett’s involvement didn’t surprise longtime followers. The singer has previously aligned herself with conservative events, including performing at the White House Christmas Tree Lighting in 2018 during Donald Trump’s first presidency. “Honored that I was invited to sing for the President last night at the White House. Airs on TV Dec. 2nd!” she wrote on Instagram at the time.
Barrett first rose to national attention on American Idol in 2018, when she competed on season 16 and finished in third place. The exposure launched her country career and helped set the stage for her crossover into mainstream radio.
TPUSA’s announcement comes just one day after Bad Bunny—who’s real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio—made headlines at the 2026 Grammys, where he won Album of the Year and used the stage to speak out against immigration enforcement. “Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say, ICE Out!” he said, later adding, “The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love.”
Turning Point USA’s All-American Halftime Show will stream on its social platforms during Super Bowl LX on Sunday, February 8.

The rapper and actress, 55, publicly shared her support for Nichols, 47, on the day of the Sunday, February 1, awards show.
“Eboni Nichols! I couldn’t be more proud of you for being a producer on this year’s Grammy Awards,” Latifah wrote via Instagram alongside two photos of a smiling Nichols. “I [love] watching your dreams come true, baby!”
Latifah went on to offer a “major shout-out” to Ben Winston, Raj Kapoor and Jesse Collins, who served as executive producers of the 2026 Grammys.
“You all are elevating the biggest night in music to a whole new level!” she added of the trio.
Latifah walked the Grammys red carpet solo on Sunday, turning heads in a black gown topped with a long sheer cape. She and Doechii later joined forces on stage at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles to present Best Rap Album to Kendrick Lamar for GNX. (Other nominees in the category included Clipse’s Let God Sort Em Out, GloRilla’sGlorious, JID’sGod Does Like Ugly and Tyler, The Creator’sChromakopia.)
Latifah and Nichols have been together for more than a decade and share son Rebel.
Over the years, Latifah has kept her personal life out of the spotlight, though she publicly acknowledged her family while accepting her BET Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021.
“Eboni, my love. Rebel, my love,” she said. “Happy Pride.”
In May 2024, Nichols was by Latifah’s side as she made her Met Gala debut. The couple reflected on the experience in a red carpet interview with Vogue at the time.
When La La Anthony asked Latifah whether the event was “what you thought it was gonna be,” she responded, “Eboni warned me a little bit.”
“It was lovely,” Nichols chimed in. “It’s just so exciting: all the cameras, everyone’s screaming Dana’s name. It’s lovely.” (Latifah’s real name is Dana Owens.)
Latifah added: “I’m actually quite happy. This has been a wonderful experience, everything from top to bottom.”
The following year, Latifah made a rare public appearance with Rebel at an August 2025 WNBA game in Brooklyn. The mother-son duo beamed as they posed for photos with players from the Connecticut Sun and the New York Liberty.
Latifah previously opened up about her ideal future in regards to her personal life, telling People Now in 2017, “I’ve always envisioned myself with a big family.”
“I’m a late bloomer with a lot of things and you know—nobody’s perfect. I’m an overachiever in some ways and just like slow as molasses in other ways,” she continued at the time. “I think I kind of needed to grow and mature and get everything kind of taken care of with everything before I was able to really deal with it.”

Member's Mark Premium 20-Piece 18/10 Stainless Steel Modern Flatware Set, $29.96 at Sam's ClubSam's Club
Taking a timeless design and elevating it with three stylish finishes—matte black, mirror and satin—this Member's Mark 20-piece flatware set is a perfect fit for any serveware collection. With a heavy-gauge, corrosion-resistant 18/10 (304) stainless steel construction, this set is far from your average run-of-the-mill flatware. It's durable, versatile and easy on the eyes, making it ideal for everything from daily use to special occasions alike.
Shoppers who purchase online now can choose from all three finishes, each of which includes four dinner forks, four salad forks, four tablespoons, four teaspoons and four dinner knives. Each style should also be available in-warehouse, though supplies may vary by location. That said, you can rest easy knowing they're lead-, cadmium-, phthalate- and BPA-free, as well as dishwasher-safe to boot.
Why Choose Stainless Steel? The thing about stainless steel is that it's not just a pairing of buzzwords that home and kitchen brands love to throw around. It's a favorite among home cooks for its durable, rust-resistant construction and its ability to withstand daily use for years. In the case of 18/10 stainless steel, this alloy combines chromium for corrosion resistance and shine with nickel for strength, so your flatware stays strong and looks brand new for years.
Even better, stainless steel is super low-maintenance. Take this 20-piece flatware set, for example, it won't absorb flavors or odors, cleans easily by hand or in the dishwasher and pairs effortlessly with a wide range of table settings. It's ideal for any occasion, whether special or casual.
What Fans Are SayingSam's Club
"I absolutely love this flatware set," one fan raved in a review. "It exceeded my expectations and it's not too heavy or awkward to hold." They also noted that the design is "timeless" and "modern yet classic," adding that they "definitely recommend" it for shoppers on the fence.

According to TV Insider on February 2, McEntire's television show, Happy's Place, has been renewed for a third season.
As TV Insider noted, Happy's Place is currently airing its second season on NBC. The media outlet shared a statement from NBC and Peacock's Lisa Katz, who noted that St. Denis Medical has also been renewed.
Katz said, "Both St. Denis Medical and Happy's Place have delivered comedic brilliance over their first two seasons, truly connecting with our audience with hilarious characters, and remain hugely important and successful programs to our primetime and Peacock lineup."
She also gave a "huge thank you" to everybody involved with both shows who "have brought these wonderful stories to life and will now continue to tell their laugh-out-loud stories."
View this post on InstagramOther specifics regarding what fans can expect in Season 3 of Happy's Place have not yet been detailed. However, it seems likely that a new season will premiere in the fall, just as the first two seasons did.
In addition, fans can surely expect all of the key cast members, which include not only McEntire, but also others like McEntire's fiancé, Rex Linn, and Melissa Peterman, to return as well.
Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk, and Belissa Escobedo round out the core cast of Happy's Place, and fans hope to see each of them return, too.
During the 2026 Grammy Awards, which aired on February 1, McEntire delivered an emotional performance. It was her first time performing during the Grammy Awards, and she chose this opportunity to say yes for an important reason.
McEntire paid tribute to Brandon Blackstock, her late stepson, during the performance. She delivered a special version of her song "Trailblazer" to accompany the event's "In Memoriam" segment.

Reese Witherspoon Posts Touching Tribute to Catherine O'Hara
Tributes to the late Catherine O’Hara continue to pour in.
Over the weekend, Reese Witherspoon updated her Instagram Stories with a note about O’Hara, calling her “a pure delight.”
“Feeling so sad about the passing of Catherine O’Hara,” Witherspoon’s message began. “Catherine was such an inspiration to me. I worked with her on a movie called Penelope back in 2006, and her creativity was boundless. She never ceased to amaze me with her generosity toward her fellow actors and filmmakers. In real life, she was just as warm and delightful as she seems on film - a pure delight.”
She continued, “Her legacy will live on through her beloved characters and her wonderful family. I know she’s making all the angels laugh.”
Witherspoon finished her salute with a dove emoji and had the entire message laid over a black-and-white photo of O’Hara, taken early on in her acting career.
O’Hara passed away last Friday, January 30. She was 71. The shocking news was first reported by TMZ.
Later, multiple outlets reported that the beloved actor was rushed to the hospital “in serious condition” following a “brief illness.” The exact details surrounding her death remain a mystery, per Heathline.
What we do know, however, is that O’Hara lived with dextrocardia with sinus inversus, a rare genetic condition that is characterized by “an abnormal position of the heart,” Heathline explained.
Since her passing, celebrities, fans, and everyone in between have been flooding social media with their reactions, memories, and thoughtful love letters.
From Macaulay Culkin, who starred with O’Hara in the Home Alone franchise, to Pedro Pascal, who worked with the actress in The Last of Us, to Eugene Levy, who paired with O’Hara in multiple projects including A Mighty Wind, seemingly everyone has been moved by the starlet. She will be greatly missed.
As for Witherspoon, she’s celebrating 25 years of Legally Blonde with the upcoming release of the series Elle, which is headed to Prime Video July 1, and has season two already in the works.
And should you want to get lost in the romantic comedy Witherspoon mentions in her post, Penelope, it’s streaming for free on Tubi and Pluto.

Lawrence Saint-Victor Explains Carter’s Biggest Flaw on 'Bold and the Beautiful'
Lawrence Saint Victor has been a fixture in daytime television since his debut on Guiding Light in 2000. Now, the Bold and the Beautiful actor, and current writer for the CBS soap, is offering new insight into how he approaches one of daytime’s most polarizing characters.
In a recent interview on The Darnell Weeks Show, Saint-Victor reflected on his decades-long career in daytime TV, including his transition from actor to writer on The Bold and the Beautiful.
During the conversation, Saint-Victor was asked how he handles online fan reactions to his character, Carter Walton, particularly when viewers express frustration with his storylines. “Fans not being happy doesn't bother me as long as they're not happy about the right thing,” Saint-Victor said.
He explained that some viewers complaints actually signal that the character is working as intended. “Fans not being happy that Carter keeps losing. Like he's not happy either. That's a good thing to not be happy about.”
Saint-Victor also addressed Carter’s romantic missteps, framing them as an intentional character flaw rather than a narrative misfire. “If you're unhappy that Carter keeps rushing into love. I'm like, well, that's his character flaw,” he said. “Carter has an anxious attachment style. He wears his heart on his sleeve and there is a hole in his heart.”
According to the actor, that emotional vulnerability is what makes Carter compelling to play. “When he falls for someone, believe me, if he can control it and just play it cool, he would. He literally can't, and that's fun to play.”
Saint-Victor contrasted watching Carter’s romantic choices to a slow-motion train wreck, frustrating, but gripping. “I'm sure it's very frustrating to watch, but that's the jelly. That's the point. You see a guy you care about running on the railroad tracks and as an audience, you can see the trains coming, but he can't. To me, that's fun to watch. Frustrating, but fun to watch.”
The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS and streams weeknights on Paramount+. Fans can watch The Bold and the Beautiful from the beginning on The Bold and the Beautiful YouTube channel.
Savannah Guthrie Makes Major Career Decision Amid Mom's Disappearance: Report
Today host Savannah Guthrie will reportedly be skipping her hosting gig at the 2026 Winter Olympics opening ceremony as her mom, Nancy Guthrie, remains missing.
Guthrie was set to travel to Italy ahead of Friday's opening ceremony, but will likely not attend, Page Six reported on Monday, February 2. It's unclear who will fill in for Guthrie, who was scheduled to host the opening ceremony for NBC with TerryGannon.
Guthrie was also scheduled to film Today with former co-host HodaKotb from Italy next week.
"I couldn’t be more thrilled to host the Opening Ceremony alongside the incomparable Terry Gannon and snowboarding legend ShaunWhite," Savannah said in September 2025. "It’s such an honor to celebrate the world’s best athletes and introduce the magic and wonder of the Winter Games and northern Italy to viewers at home."
The news comes just one day after Savannah's beloved mother was reported missing after disappearing from her home outside of Tucson, Arizona.
The 84-year-old has not been seen since late Saturday evening. While Pima County Sheriff ChrisNanos revealed that Guthrie does not have any cognitive issues, she is without her life-saving medication.
"She’s very alert, of good, sound mind — just some physical ailments that limit her ability to move around," Nanos said during a press conference.
"We don’t typically get the sheriff out to a scene like this, but it’s very concerning what we’re learning from the house. It’s not standard — typically our homicide team comes out when we have a homicide, a body," he added. "But simply by what the scene was telling us, we felt the need to bring the homicide team."
Guthrie released a statement after news of her mother's disappearance began to circulate, thanking law enforcement and fans for their support.
"On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom," her statement read. "We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900."
This Super Cozy Hoodie Needs to Be on Your Radar, and Shoppers Say 'It's Worth Every Penny'
I don't care whether it's cold or warm outside; I never leave the house without a hoodie of some sort—zip-up or otherwise. It's almost like my grown-up security blanket and the kind of thing I keep around just in case. Because here's the thing: there's nothing more comforting than a soft hoodie. It's like the clothing equivalent of a warm hug. And I don't know about you, but I could use a warm hug on most days in this chaotic world in which we live.
All of this is to say that on the rare occasion I buy clothes for my husband (he'd rather shop for himself), I tend to drift towards hoodies. In my opinion, a hooded sweatshirt is just a universal crowd pleaser—you can't go wrong with it. And when I stumbled upon this cozy offering from Origin, I found a real winner.
Origin's Kilo Lite Hoodie is the perfect layering piece. In fact, it was quite literally designed for "all-season layering." As the name suggests, it's made from a lightweight fleece, so it's perfect for fighting off a chill without being bulky.
Kilo Lite Hoodie, $55 (originally $69) at OriginOrigin
Even better, the Kilo Lite Hoodie is currently on sale for $55, 21 percent off its regular price of $69. To give you a sense of how popular this hoodie is with Origin shoppers, it's nearly sold out in four of its eight colorways. But have no fear, you can still find it in admiral blue, relic (a gold yellow), black and medium heather gray.
For what it's worth, for all of the hoodies I've had my husband test out, he says the Kilo Lite is by far his favorite. But you don't have to take just his word for it. There are over 600 reviews on the hoodie's product page, all raving about it.
One reviewer, who gives it five stars, simply states, "It's worth every penny."
Others had a lot more to say. "Love how soft this hoodie is," writes another customer. "Had to order my fiancée one so she would stop stealing mine lol. Has held up over time, great quality."
Note that Origin offers free shipping on orders of $99 or more, so you may want to order two, as you'll likely want another.
