‘Jersey Shore’ Star Marries In a Romantic Surprise Wedding

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 7:21pm

Jersey Shore’sJenni ‘JWoww’ Farley married her fiancé, wrestler Zack Carpinello, in a surprise wedding on Wednesday. The reality TV star managed to trick 50 of her closest friends and family into thinking they were going to a premiere of her upcoming film, Nanny Cam. But instead, her nearest and dearest were treated to a romanticBeauty and the Beast-inspired wedding!

The new bride recently revealed to PEOPLE, “We envisioned a small, meaningful celebration focused on the people who matter most to us.” She continued, “We weren’t interested in throwing the biggest wedding possible. We wanted an unforgettable moment shared with our closest family and friends. The goal was creating memories, not creating a production.”

Farley and Carpinello’s nuptials were held at Madison Modern Social in Old Bridge, New Jersey.

J Woww’s wedding color palette featured deep ruby reds with rose gold accents. She explained,  “The overall inspiration was a modern Beauty and the Beast fairy tale with a dark romance twist.”

Even though deep red and rose golds were the colors of the day, J Woww wore a classic white dress from Castle Couture, saying she wanted her gown to be “romantic, timeless, and worthy of a modern fairy tale.”

Not one to follow traditions, Farley walked down the aisle to Lana Del Rey’s ‘Young and Beautiful’ in honor of her BFF Nicole ‘Snookie’ Polizzi (who chose the tune as her first dance song at her own wedding). Carpinello made his entrance to ‘The Name’s Bond…James Bond’ from Casino Royale.

So how did the couple manage to keep their wedding under wraps? Farley explained, “We’ve spent months keeping this secret, creating invitations, planning the movie-themed details, and building the surprise. Seeing our family and friends go from thinking they’re attending a special screening for Nanny Cam to realizing they’re actually at our wedding will be a moment we’ll never forget.”

The newlyweds noted, “We wanted the day to feel personal, memorable, and full of joy, and there’s really something special about sharing such a meaningful surprise with the people we love most.”

Farley also made sure that her two children, 11-year-old daughter Meilani and 10-year-old son Greyson (with ex-husband Roger Mathews), were “celebrated and included every step of the way.” Carpinello gave Meilano a ruby birthstone ring (tied to the color scheme) and Greyson a soccer-themed present before the wedding.

The mom of two said, “We wanted the day to celebrate not only our love story but also the family we’ve built together over the last seven years.”

Blockbuster Dystopian Series Officially Headed to Netflix for the First Time

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 7:19pm

Fans of Suzanne Collins, Katniss Everdeen, and Panem rejoice!

For the first time ever the entire franchise of the blockbuster series The Hunger Gameswill be available to stream on Netflix. All five films, the original four and the story's prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, will be heading to the streamer on July 14th.

This is the first time all of the films will be available to stream in one place and without individual purchase since their removal from HBO Max.

Originally filmed and released over the course of 2011 to 2015, The Hunger Games franchise was a massive success and blockbuster hit generating more than $3 billion at the box office. The prequel, released in 2023, generated more than $348 million at the box office. The films are some of the highest grossing movies of all time.

The franchise has also been critically acclaimed, with the four original films a 70% or higher score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Based on the YA dystopian series by acclaimed author Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games takes place in the fictional Panem in a post-apocalyptic North America. Following an uprising and a rebellion, the country is redefined into different districts by the tyrannical Capitol, who once a year force a young boy and girl from each district to fight to the death in a televised event called "The Hunger Games." When 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen from District 12 enters the games, it sets in motion something the young girl never could have predicted, and changes everything.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, also based on a novel by Collins, tells the story of the 10th Annual Hunger Games from the perspective of a young Coriolanus Snow, who later becomes the main antagonist of the series.

The sixth film in the franchise, Sunrise on the Reaping, will hit theaters this November 20, 2026. Similar to The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Sunrise on the Reaping looks back on Haymitch Abernathy, a staple character in the original story who competed in his own games in his youth. No information on streaming for Sunrise on the Reaping is available at this time.

Kohl's Shoppers Say This 'Beautiful' Summer Staple Is Easy to Dress Up or Down

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 7:05pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Getting dressed in the summer sounds easy in theory. Fewer layers, less bulk, less time spent standing in front of the closet, right? And yet, somehow, it feels trickier than getting dressed at any other time of year. When temperatures climb, you're not just looking for clothes that look cute—you need pieces that actually feel comfortable, too. Because nothing ruins a great outfit faster than realizing it's trapping heat like a personal sauna.

The challenge is finding that sweet spot between polished and practical. You want fabrics that feel light and breathable, silhouettes that don't cling, and pieces that can handle everything from a quick coffee run to a day at the office without leaving you counting down the minutes until you can change into pajamas. Bonus points if they look put-together with minimal effort, because summer is no time for high-maintenance dressing.

Beloved Actor Reveals 'Terrifying' Experience Hosting Final Black Sabbath Concert

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 7:02pm

We're coming up on one year since the instantly legendary "Back to the Beginning" concert. The send off to Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbournefeatured maybe the greatest lineup of any metal concert in history, showcasing a who's who of the genre. One wonderful part of that concert was the show's host, Jason Momoa.

Momoa has always been a massive metalhead. It's come up in tons of interviews over the years, including him being spotted in the pit at various metal shows. He's not shy about his love for the genre and the greats that have shaped it, which is why he had a difficult experience hosting the star-studded concert.

In a new interview with the BBC, Momoa revealed his experience hosting, and all the challenges that came with introducing all of his favorite musicians.

"Terrifying," is how Momoa described hosting the concert, "Hosting is so scary," he added.

Momoa tells a story about how he had to recite a massive introductory script with no teleprompter, instead having to use a stage prompter, which is a small little monitor at the edge of the stage that scrolls the lyrics of a song so the performers have a reference if they forget the words.

"I'm there looking up to all the guys that I listened to in my childhood," Momoa also revealed, bringing the conversation down to earth and reminding us all that we're all just fans deep down.

The best part of the interview is at the end, where Momoa talks about getting to let go and just be a fan once he was no longer needed. He jumped into the pit with the rest of the fans, and rocked out to some of the greatest music of all time.

"Back to the Beginning" was no doubt one of the most iconic concerts in history, and this is one of the reasons why. No matter who you are, this music affected and changed your life, and it was amazing to see everyone together for one final show.

1968 Classic Rock Hit, Inspired by a Spontaneous Riff, Remains a Timeless Road Trip Anthem 58 Years Later

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 6:50pm

You could say 1968 was a pretty big year for Steppenwolf...but that would be an understatement. First, "Born to Be Wild," from the band's self-titled debut album, became their breakthrough hit. Because Steppenwolf was contractually obliged to produce two records per year at the time, that meant the pressure was on to write another super popular single right away. The question was, could the group manage to make magic happen again so quickly?

As it turned out, yes. Released in September 1968 as the lead single from Steppenwolf's next album, The Second, "Magic Carpet Ride" peaked at #3 on the Billboard pop chart, where the catchy, upbeat rocker stayed for an impressive 16 weeks. To this day, the tune remains a classic; it's been featured in countless movies and TV shows and it's still a radio staple, not to mention a road tripplaylist mainstay.

And to think, the song might never have existed if not for one "bouncy" bass riff.

As Steppenwolf lead singer and co-writer John Kay told the Wall Street Journal in 2016, the band didn't have a full album's worth of songs when they headed into the studio to record The Second.

"One day, Jerry [Edmonton]’s brother Dennis, who had changed his name to Mars Bonfire, came in to show us a new song he had written," Kay recalled. "At some point, Rushton [Moreve] started playing this bouncy riff on his bass that he had played during sound checks on our first tour. Mars liked the riff and started playing chords against it on his Fender Jazzmaster guitar."

"The guys in the booth went nuts," he continued. "They came on the speaker and said, 'Hey, keep doing that. That’s really good,' so we kept at it. But all we had was this cool riff. Mars suggested we add an instrumental interlude. He played these chords that led into the jam, for which I later wrote the lyrics, 'Close your eyes girl/ Look inside girl/ Let the sound take you away.'"

Kay went on to explain that a few of the song's other lines were about "how great my new stereo sounded."

"Months earlier, as royalties from the success of our first album started to come in, [Kay's wife] Jutta and I replaced our lousy stereo with a top-notch system from a high-end audio store in Beverly Hills," he said. "As soon as I put in the cassette and heard the electronic sound effects in the opening, the song’s lyrics popped into my head: 'I like to dream/ Yes-yes, right between my sound machine/ On a cloud of sound, I drift in the night/ Any place it goes is right.'"

Realizing he had to "go someplace" with the rest of the lyrics, Kay "came up with, 'Last night I held Aladdin’s lamp' and all the imagery of making a wish."

"The 'little girl' in the song wasn’t supposed to be anyone specific," he added. "For me, it was Jutta."

Kay's account of how "Magic Carpet Ride" was written essentially shuts down the decades of rumors about the song being inspired by drugs.

"I didn’t drop acid before writing the lyrics, as many people later assumed," he quipped. "And the lyrics weren’t about an acid trip. I may have smoked a joint that night, but that was it. Since birth, I’ve had achromatopsia — complete color blindness. If I had dropped acid, I would have been hallucinating in vivid black and white. I doubt that would have helped me or the song much."

Decades later, it's clear the song didn't need any help anyway.

Savannah Guthrie Alerts Police After True-Crime Vlogger Appears Outside Her Mother’s House

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 6:48pm

Savannah Guthrie reached out to law enforcement after a YouTube personality was filming in front of her mother's house.

According to police records, obtained by TMZ, the broadcast journalist contacted authorities on June 11 once she learned that a YouTuber known as "Criminal Network" was livestreaming in front of Nancy Guthrie’s Arizona residence.

The property is where Nancy was abducted earlier this year.

The report said that the police believed the individual to be Alex Zabel, based on previous investigations.

According to police documents, Savannah is one of the property's responsible parties. During the past few months, she’s had to manage online "true crime" content creators and was "extremely upset" to find out Zabel was back at her mother’s home.

Law enforcement wrote that the NBCToday show anchor has shared concerns about safety for herself and her family due to the actions of vloggers.

Savannah’s call on Zabel was reportedly sent to the Pima County Sheriff's Department Patrol Division, where they were already responding to a service pertaining to the issue. Police said she thanked them for their help.

According to the report, she was not aware of what Zabel was allegedly saying or doing while filming, but his presence was distressing to Savannah.

It is uncertain if any other law enforcement action was taken.

Nancy was 84 years old when she was kidnapped from her home and has remained missing. Multiple ransom notes were sent to the media in the days after she was taken.

The first note demanded millions of dollars in bitcoin for Nancy, but a later note stated she died days after the abduction and was buried in nature.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has said the investigation remains “active and ongoing.” While Nancy’s family is also still offering a $1 million reward for answers.

1984 Rock Classic, Later Reimagined as a No. 1 Hit, Became a Road Trip Anthem

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 6:44pm

It wouldn't be a surprise if a majority of road trip mix tapes had Bruce Springsteen's "Pink Cadillac." The 1983 rock song became a staple driving anthem that was transformed into a dance-pop cover years later that topped one of the charts.

Years before its release, Springsteen had the working lyrics of "Pink Cadillac" when it was originally titled "Love Is a Dangerous Thing." Making some creative changes into a lighthearted version, he kept the song's original hook that was inspired by Elvis Presley's "Baby Let's Play House." Many recall how the king of rock n' roll would travel on tour in a custom-painted pink Cadillac.

The track wasn't originally meant to be a hit and was an acoustic version while Springsteen was working on his Nebraska album. It was later recorded during sessions for Born in the U.S.A and released as the B-side for the album's lead single "Dancing in the Dark." It still became a major hit among radio jockeys and received prominent airplay that landed it at No. 27 on the Billboard Top Tracks chart for 14 weeks.

"Pink Cadillac" would become a major chart-topper four years later in 1988 when it was reimagined into a dance-pop track by Natalie Cole. It would land at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and No.1 on Billboard's Dance Club Songs. For Cole, the song was a career comeback at the suggestion of producer Dennis Lambert, whose enthusiasm gave her the confidence to record it.

“I thought to myself, ‘I’m too old to be doing this kind of stuff.’ I couldn’t imagine myself onstage rockin’ to the music like Tina Turner. But ‘Pink Cadillac’ turned out to be a big song, and it took us all over the place. With ‘Pink Cadillac,’ I started playing club dates where the gay crowd hung from the rafters—it was my Grace Jones kind of a vibe," said Cole, according to American Songwriter.

Critics praised Cole's version for giving the rock track a "sassy" edge, with Springsteen having learned of her version of the song and thinking "it was very cool that a woman could [sing "Pink Cadillac"] and it would come out so great".

Alongside Cole,Bette Midleralso planned to release her own version of "Pink Cadillac" for her No Frills album after having performed it on tour. Springsteen heard of her plans and blocked the release of her cover, claiming it wasn't a "girl's song." In 2006, Jerry Lewis covered the track with additional vocals by Springsteen himself.

The canopy is made from polyester with a polyurethane coating, so it's water-resistant, fade-resistant, and adds UV protection. It measures 13 feet long, 10 feet wide, and nearly 9 feet high. That’s big enough to provide shade for an outdoor seating area or a grilling station.

This pergola is designed to lean against a wall for extra stability, and it comes with eight ground stakes that can secure it to soft or hard terrain. Its sloped roof helps prevent water from pooling on top and features 12 grommet holes for water drainage. It's also detachable, so it's easy to take down and clean at the end of the season.

While this particular pergola model doesn’t have many reviews yet, one shopper praised the “easy instructions” and said it came with all the necessary parts. 1968 Rock Hit, Nearly Overlooked by The Band, Became a Cross-Generational Anthem

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 6:39pm

The Band's 1968 masterpiece, “The Weight,” has been covered by legends, featured in classic cinema, and embraced by generations of listeners. Yet, when the group was recording their debut album, Music From Big Pink, they nearly overlooked the song, chalking it up to little more than a fallback track — filler should some other material not work out.

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

Nearly six decades later, the heavy, yet redemptive song has become not just one of the most celebrated songs in The Band’s catalog, but one of the most enduring songs in all of rock history. A foundational pillar of Americana, it carries a cross-generational legacy that has spanned time and genres to become a shared piece of cultural heritage. So, it’s wild to think it was originally just an afterthought.

“We’d tried it a number of different ways, but we weren’t that excited about it,” RobbieRobertson told Guitar Player in May 1995. “So, our attitude was, ‘Well, just in case something else isn’t working, we’ve got this song to fall back on.’”

According to the magazine, the band — composed of Levon Helm (drums and lead vocals), Rick Danko (bass guitar and co-lead), Richard Manuel (keyboards and vocals), Robbie Robertson (acoustic guitar), and Garth Hudson (keyboards) — tried several versions of the song, but it just “wasn’t working.”

Or, so they thought. It wasn’t until they sat back and gave it a listen that their thinking shifted, and the song was rescued from the cutting-room floor.

“So, we were in the studio,” Robertson said, “and just out of trying to not be boring, we said, ‘Well, let's give that “Take a load off, Fanny” song a shot.’ … It wasn’t until we listened back to it that we realized, ‘Holy sh-t, this song’s really got something.’”

Written by Robertson, the song actually has a fascinating genesis. While working on “The Weight,” he looked inside his acoustic guitar and saw its label for the famous Martin Guitar Factory, located in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. He thought the name perfectly fit the Americana vibe of his narrative-driven song and used it in the opening lyric.

“I pulled into Nazareth / Was feeling ‘bout half past dead.”

In the 2019 documentary Once Were Brothers, Robertson elaborated on the origin of the song’s meaning, inspiration, and lyrics. Sharing that the idea for the song first came from his own personal pilgrimage from his native Canada down to the Mississippi Delta at 16years old, he said that many of the song's colorful characters were inspired by real people The Band encountered throughout their lives and travels.

In his 2000 autobiography, This Wheel’s on Fire, Helm broke down the characters even further: “The song was full of our favorite characters. ‘Luke’ was Jimmy Ray Paulman. ‘Young Anna Lee’ was Anna Lee Williams from Turkey Scratch. ‘Crazy Chester’ was a guy we all knew from Fayetteville who came into town on Saturdays wearing a full set of cap guns on his hips and kinda walked around town to help keep the peace, if you follow me. … There were also ‘Carmen and the Devil,’ ‘Miss Moses,’ and ‘Fanny,’ a name that just seemed to fit the picture.”

“Well, Luke my friend / What about Annalee? (Doo-ooo-ooo) / He said, "Do me a favor? / Stay and keep Annalee some company?”

Described by Robertson as being about the “impossibility of sainthood,” the folk-rock parable wrapped in a groove that blends gospel, folk, and country rock tells the story of a weary traveler who comes to town, then becomes overwhelmed by the burdens of obligation, with a simple errand becoming an impossible mission.

“I picked up my bag / I went lookin' for a place to hide / When I saw comin' in the devil / Walkin' side by side.”

“So the guy goes and one thing leads to another,” Robertson explained in Jake Grogan’s 2017 book, Origins of a Song, “and it's like, ‘Holy sh-t, what’s this turned into? I’ve only come here to say “hello” for somebody and I’ve got myself in this incredible predicament.’”

“Take a load off, Fannie / Take a load for free / Take a load off, Fannie / Well, yeah / Put the weight on me.”

Released in the summer of 1968 as the sole single from The Band’s debut album, Music From Big Pink, the track peaked at No. 63 in the U.S. Despite hardly making a dent in the pop chart, “The Weight” took on a life of its own, appearing in Dennis Hopper’s 1969 couterculture classic Easy Rider and on the albums of music legends, with everyone from Aretha Franklin, The Grateful Dead, and Weezer, to the musician they famously backed in the 1960s, Bob Dylan, all covering the track.

Cementing the song’s status as a cross-generational anthem, Rolling Stone named it one of the greatest songs of all time.

“Of course, at the time, we had no idea how big it was going to become,” Danko told Guitar Player. “We were just doing our best to make music that had rhythm and soul.”

All these decades later, “The Weight” remains a timeless Americana masterpiece, as it continues to find new listeners. Proof that sometimes the songs artists worry about the least end up carrying the greatest load.

2001 Pop Rock Hit Has One of the ‘Greatest Choruses of the 21st Century’

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 6:24pm

Originally written when she was just 15-years-old, "Everywhere" by Michelle Branch is a millennial pop rock staple. The song is such a 2000s anthem, Billboard ranked it and its chorus among the greatest of the 21st century.

"Everywhere" was among the tracks that solidified Branch a record deal with Maverick Records in July of 2000. Branch had originally written the song to be more of a soft-rock, love song, however producer John Shanks encouraged her to make it more up-tempo and pop-rock in its style, and had Branch raise the key and told her to sing "as vigorously" as she could.

"Everywhere" as we know it today was released to contemporary hit radio in July of 2001, just eight days before Branch's 18th birthday.

Critics raved about the song with Billboard calling the track "shot of tequila" compared to similar songs of the time. Multiple reviews compared Branch's voice and style to that of Alanis Morrisette. AllMusic called "Everywhere," "a lively and heartfelt song with electric-guitar power chords, spirited vocal delivery, and catchy chorus."

When discussing the song and its inspiration, Branch commented on how she was intentionally vague with the lyrics because she prefers when people can inject their own experiences into the music, rather than look at her (or a songwriter's) own. She also noted how she has probably written better hooks and refrains since, but nonetheless she remains proud of her work on "Everywhere."

When ranking the track among the best choruses of the 21st century, Billboard noted how "Everywhere" marked the end of 1990s angst and ushered in a new vibe for pop-rock, specifically amongst female vocalists. The publication credited Branch with inspiring the likes of Haley Williams, Kelly Clarkson, and Sara Bareilles.

The Washington Post also gave credit to the song and its nostalgia factor for millennials in 2022 writing:

"['Everywhere'] transport[s] a significant portion of the population back to the simpler times of watching MTV after school, dramatic AIM away messages and piling friends into a car fresh off getting a driver's license and cranking up the radio."

Over the last 25 years, "Everywhere" has proven to hold its own, taking us right back to where we were the first time we heard that iconic refrain.

1973 Timeless Classic, Inspired by One of the ‘Best Movies’ of All Time, Became a Soft Rock Anthem

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 6:22pm

The yellow brick road has led generations of movie fans to the Emerald City. In 1973, it also inspired one of rock's greatest songs.

When Elton John released "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road," the sweeping ballad quickly became one of the standout tracks from the landmark album of the same name. Inspired by the enduring imagery of The Wizard of Oz, widely recognized as one of the greatest films ever made and included on Rotten Tomatoes' list of the best movies of all time, the song became one of Elton John's signature recordings and a defining anthem of the soft rock era.

Its inspiration came from one of cinema's most iconic journeys.

Written by longtime songwriting partners Elton John and Bernie Taupin, "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" borrowed the famous road from the 1939 classic not as a literal reference, but as a metaphor. Rather than longing for the glamour and promise of the Emerald City, the narrator chooses to leave behind wealth, fame and excess in search of a simpler, more authentic life. The familiar imagery from The Wizard of Oz gave Taupin the perfect framework for exploring themes of identity, ambition and returning to one's roots.

"It's been said many times, but Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is a cinematic album," John told Rolling Stone in 2014. "The lyrics to the title track do say that I want to leave Oz and get back to the farm. I think that’s still my M.O. these days. I don't mind getting out there and doing what everybody else was doing, but I always had to have an escape hatch."

Released as the second single from the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album, the song became another major success for Elton John, reaching the Top 10 on both sides of the Atlantic. Its lush orchestration, heartfelt lyrics and Elton John's soaring vocal performance helped establish it as one of the defining soft rock ballads of the decade.

The song also became the centerpiece of one of the most celebrated albums of Elton John's career. Released in 1973, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road produced a remarkable string of classics, including "Bennie and the Jets," "Candle in the Wind," "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" and "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding." The double album is widely regarded as Elton John's masterpiece and remains one of the best-selling records of all time.

"I'm not someone who normally looks back, I'm not someone who gets nostalgic, but I had to listen to this album because I have to do interviews about it," John said in an interview with Today for the album's 40th anniversary. "It made me very emotional. I cried a little at it, because it reminded me of a time when I was very innocent."

Over the decades, "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" has become a staple of Elton John’s live performances, with audiences around the world embracing its timeless message. Its reflective lyrics and sweeping melody have also made it one of the defining soft rock anthems of the 1970s, continuing to receive regular airplay on classic hits and adult contemporary radio.

"My records don't sell as much as they used to by a long way, but I'm not really interested in that any more," John told BBC. "I don't have to chase the charts any more, I can just do what I like and that's a tremendous asset. I've been successful and I have the freedom not to care about that any more."

More than 50 years after its release, "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" remains one of Elton John's greatest achievements. Inspired by one of the most beloved films in history, the song transformed a familiar cinematic image into a universal reflection on finding the courage to choose one's own path, ensuring its place as one of the timeless classics of the rock era.

I Tried a Viral Salmon Sushi Bake, and It Completely Changed Homemade Sushi Night

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 6:17pm

Some food trends explode across social media and disappear just as quickly. Others stick around because they're genuinely worth making. After seeing salmon sushi bakes repeatedly pop up on social media and countless recipe blogs, I finally decided to find out whether this viral dish actually deserved all the attention.

As someone who enjoys homemade sushi, I was immediately intrigued by the promise of getting those familiar flavors without spending hours rolling individual pieces. (Though I will absolutely do it from time to time.) Traditional sushi can be rewarding to make, but it's also a project that requires patience, precision and plenty of cleanup. The idea of achieving a similar experience in a simple casserole dish sounded almost too good to be true.

What ultimately convinced me to try it was the overwhelming number of people claiming it had become part of their regular meal rotation. Whenever a recipe inspires that level of devotion, I can't help but be curious. Was this just another internet food craze, or had home cooks discovered a genuinely easier way to enjoy sushi-inspired flavors?

I put the viral recipe to the test in my own kitchen to see if it lived up to the hype—and whether it could really compete with a traditional homemade sushi night.

What Is a Salmon Sushi Bake, Exactly?

If you've spent any time on TikTok, Instagram or food blogs over the last few years, you've probably come across the viral salmon sushi bake. This casserole-style dish takes all the flavors and components of a salmon sushi roll and transforms them into a layered, shareable bake that's much easier to prepare than traditional sushi.

Instead of rolling individual pieces by hand, a sushi bake layers seasoned sushi rice in a baking dish, tops it with a creamy seafood mixture and finishes everything with flavorful garnishes. The result is a warm, comforting dish that delivers the same sweet, savory, spicy and umami-packed flavors you'd expect from your favorite sushi roll.

For my version, I followed the popular recipe from food blogger Christian Ou of One Happy Bite, who deserves full credit for the original recipe and technique that inspired this bake.

Ingredients Needed

Following Ou's recipe, you'll need:

  • Sushi rice
  • Seasoned rice vinegar
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Salmon fillets
  • Imitation crab meat
  • Cream cheese
  • Kewpie mayonnaise
  • Sriracha or Sriracha mayo
  • Furikake seasoning
  • Green onions
  • Sesame seeds
  • Nori sheets or seaweed snacks for serving, if desired

One shortcut I took was using frozen sushi rice, simply for time purposes. Rather than cooking rice from scratch, I steamed the frozen rice in the microwave according to the package directions. It saved time and worked surprisingly well. However, if you'd like to make it from scratch, you can absolutely follow the instructions for preparing sushi rice from scratch.

How To Make a Salmon Sushi Bake

One of the things I appreciated most about this recipe was how straightforward the process was.

First, prepare the sushi rice. If you're cooking it from scratch, rinse and cook the rice according to the package directions, then season it with a mixture of rice vinegar, sugar and salt. I used frozen sushi rice, so I simply steamed it in the microwave before seasoning it.

Next, transfer the rice into a baking dish and spread it into an even layer. Sprinkle a generous amount of furikake seasoning over the top. This creates the flavorful foundation of the dish and adds an incredible savory depth that makes sushi bakes so addictive.

Meanwhile, cook the salmon until fully done. Once it has cooled slightly, flake it into bite-sized pieces.

In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked salmon with shredded imitation crab, softened cream cheese, Kewpie mayonnaise and sriracha. Stir everything together until well incorporated. This mixture becomes rich, creamy, spicy and packed with flavor.

Spread the seafood mixture evenly over the rice layer. Bake 10 to 15 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit or until everything is heated through and slightly golden on top.

Once the bake comes out of the oven, it's time for the fun part: toppings. I finished mine with additional furikake seasoning, sesame seeds, generous drizzles of extra sriracha mayo and plenty of sliced green onions.

Serve warm with sheets of nori or seaweed snacks for scooping and wrapping, just like you would with sushi.

Salmon Sushi Bake: My Honest Review

Courtesy Julie Andrews

This recipe completely lived up to the hype. The biggest selling point for me was how easy it was. I've made homemade sushi rolls before, and while they're delicious, rolling individual pieces can be tedious and time-consuming. This sushi bake delivers nearly identical flavors with a fraction of the effort.

The real genius of the recipe is the seafood mixture. Combining the cooked salmon and imitation crab with cream cheese and spicy sriracha mayo creates an incredibly rich, creamy topping that feels indulgent without being overwhelming.

Every bite had tender chunks of seafood coated in a velvety, spicy sauce. That richness paired perfectly with the sticky sushi rice underneath, which brings subtle sweetness, tanginess and just enough saltiness to balance everything out.

The furikake seasoning was another standout component. It adds layers of umami, nuttiness and savory flavor that elevate the entire dish. Without it, the bake would still be good, but furikake is what pushes it into can't-stop-eating-it territory.

The toppings also played a major role in the final result. The sesame seeds added a subtle crunch, the extra furikake intensified the savory notes and the sriracha mayo delivered another layer of creamy heat. An important addition, though, was the green onion. The bright, crisp freshness cut through the richness and brought balance to every bite.

Texture-wise, this dish was a huge success. You get creamy seafood, fluffy sticky rice, crunchy toppings and crisp seaweed all working together in a single bite. It's a combination that keeps things interesting from the first serving to the last.

Perhaps most impressive is how closely it resembles the flavor of a classic salmon sushi roll. For a baked dish, it comes impressively close to recreating the eating experience of a restaurant-style spicy salmon roll.

I had plenty of the salmon sushi bake left over, so I covered it and stored it in the refrigerator, and was delighted with how delicious it was served cold the next day. I actually enjoyed it this way better than hot out of the oven, though both were delicious. Honestly, who doesn't love a dish you can eat straight out of the fridge throughout the week?

Final Takeaways

Courtesy Julie Andrews

The viral salmon sushi bake trend is popular for a reason. It captures everything people love about sushi rolls while removing the most labor-intensive part of the process.

Ou's recipe was easy to follow, beginner-friendly and produced fantastic results. Even with my shortcut of using frozen sushi rice, the final dish tasted restaurant-worthy.

The creamy salmon and imitation crab mixture, rich cream cheese, spicy sriracha mayo, seasoned sushi rice and flavorful furikake all work together beautifully. Add fresh green onions, sesame seeds and extra sauce on top, and you have a dish that's packed with bold flavor and satisfying texture.

Whether you serve it straight from the baking dish or scoop portions into seaweed wraps, this is a recipe I would happily make again. For anyone who loves salmon rolls but doesn't want to spend time rolling individual pieces, this sushi bake offers all the flavor with far less effort.

Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders’ Reece Weaver Shocks Fans and Retires: Why She Left and What Kelli Finglass Has To Say About It

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 6:01pm

Netflix’s hit show, America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, took the already-famous sideline dancers to a totally new level. And while the recent rookies seem to enjoy their newfound fame, it looks like fan favorite Reece Weaver won’t return for another season.

Viewers were surprised, if not shocked, when Weaver hung her uniform on the right.  As we all know by now, DCC’s who plan on staying with the organization place their uniforms on the left—because left has an ‘e’ like ‘yes.’

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - AUGUST 11: (L-R) Reece Weaver, Sophy Laufer, Camille Sturdivant and Charly Barby of Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders attend the premiere of Netflix's "America's Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys" at The Egyptian Theatre Hollywood on August 11, 2025 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images for Netflix)

While fans have enjoyed watching all of the young women go from nervous rookies to confident veterans, Reece has been one cast member who really stood out. The adorably innocent breakout star joined the squad in 2023, making her Netflix debut in Season 1 of America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders after graduating with a degree in dance from the University of Alabama.

Even though Weaver was only 22 at the time, she married her college beau, Will Allman, in 2024 (two months before her new series premiered). Viewers watched as Weaver and Allman navigated their first few years of marriage together, moving to a new city and starting new jobs. Unlike many other reality TV stars, fame didn’t seem to go to Reece’s head, and the couple thrived in the spotlight.

Why did Reece Weaver leave the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders?

Fast-forward to Season 3, and Reece makes the almost unbelievable decision to leave DCC. Weaver recently told Netflix’s Tudum, “I’d actually been wrestling with this decision since the start of my third year. My cup was just filled to the absolute brim, and I was in a place—I still am in that same place—of sincere gratitude.”

Reece continued, “With a lot of just prayer and counseling, I just felt led, that I was being called to take a leap of faith.”

Of her final conference with director Kelli Finglass and head choreographer Judy Tramell, Weaver said, “I was more worried about how this was going to be taken and received. I didn’t know what their response would be.”

How did Kelli Finglass respond to Reece Weaver leaving DCC?

Finglass recently opened up to Us Weekly, sharing, “I wasn’t shocked, and I wasn’t surprised.” She added, “I am happy for Reece. It’s a tough decision. I think it’s the right decision to make it sooner than too late.”

The DCC’s director also said, “She’s got a bright future, whatever path she chooses. We obviously will miss Reece, like we do every cheerleader that retires after three years, four years, five years.”

What will Reece do next?

The Netflix star has already moved from Dallas back to her former college town in Alabama.  According to Weaver, “There’s been so many brands and organizations that have reached out. I’m really excited to be a little more available for some really cool projects.” As to what those “really cool projects” are, Reece revealed she’s working on a book but didn't say much more.

Michael Scott's Greatest 'The Office' Romance Reveals He Was Never Meant to Be Alone

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 6:01pm

It’s been more than a decade since The Office aired its final episode, but the NBC mockumentary-style comedy remains one of the most enduring and beloved TV comedies of all time. More than 10 years later, fans are still debating one of the most important questions in the show’s lore: Who was Michael Scott’s (Steve Carell)best love interest? A new ranking answers the question, crowning the No. 1 romance in the Dunder Mifflin regional manager’s long and cringeworthy dating history.

Despite Michael Scott’s never-ending series of awkward comments and tone-deaf moments, the iconic TV middle manager, expertly played by The 40-Year-Old Virgin star Steve Carell, was, at heart, just a guy looking for connection and community. Sure, his social awkwardness made for some of TV’s most hilariously uncomfortable moments. But at the heart of Carell’s portrayal of Michael Scott was a character audiences rooted for. Fans wanted to see Michael Scott end up happy, and he eventually did.

Michael Scott’s Greatest Romance Revealed

Michael Scott’s series of romances and dates are legendary, including his turbulent relationship with former boss Jan Levinson (Melora Hardin). But a new ranking names the best of Michael Scott’s relationships, highlighting one of the most talked-about storylines in modern TV history, one that ultimately helped define and redeem one of television’s most beloved leading men.

“Never has there been anyone as childish or as eccentric as the great Michael Scott; at least that's what we thought. But upon Toby's (Paul Lieberstein) farewell, we got to meet the love of Michael's life, Holly Flax, played by Amy Ryan. The two hit it off straight away, telling stupid jokes and making terrible impressions. From there, Michael was so infatuated with Holly that he immediately tried to make a playlist to tell her he loved her.

Sadly, it takes a while for the two to inevitably be together, as Michael decides to help Jan through pregnancy, even though it's not his baby. Holly moves to Nashua, where she meets her future fiancé. Thankfully, the two do end up together, eventually getting engaged, and later in season nine, a season and a half after he left, Michael returns for Dwight's wedding, where it is revealed that he is happily married to Holly, and the two have four kids together.”

Why Holly Flax Was the Perfect Match

Childish, check. Eccentric, check. Awkward, check. Michael Scott was all of those things, but his romantic journey wasn’t just a storyline played for laughs. Michael Scott’s relationships were a central part of The Office and symbolic of the character’s personal growth.

Behind the overbearing boss and the often uncomfortable friend was a man willing to put himself out there. Across multiple seasons, fans watched as the character navigated heartache, rejection, and disappointment. His continued attempts at love helped humanize him, and his emotional journey kept audiences invested in his story.

By the time Michael Scott reunited with Holly, who seemed like his perfect match from their very first awkward joke, audiences were rooting for him to finally find his happily ever after.

Why Fans Still Love This Storyline

The pair’s romance remains one of the highlights of The Office’s long-running story arc and provided a satisfying sense of closure as audiences said goodbye to one of television’s favorite characters.

The Office may have aired its final episode more than a decade ago, but the series continues to be a favorite rewatch for fans who relate to its everyday characters and their attempts to navigate life in and out of the workplace. After spending seven seasons watching Michael Scott fumble his way through romance, viewers ultimately discovered a well-intentioned and decent man beneath the awkward exterior.

It makes perfect sense that as the character evolved, so did his ability to find true love. For many fans, there could be no other choice for Michael Scott’s greatest love interest than Amy Ryan’s Holly Flax.

1974 Hit, Over 22 Minutes Long, Became an Ultimate Road Trip Anthem

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 5:53pm

Given its title and lyrics, it should come as no surprise that the German electronic band Kraftwerk's 1974 hit "Autobahn," off the Autobahn album, is still recognized as an iconic road-trip anthem.

In 2025, Rolling Stone included the 22-minute and 47-second classic on the publication's list of "the 50 best road-trip songs." The publication, which placed the tune at the list's 42nd spot, noted that the song describes enjoying the famous German highway system.

Rolling Stone also reported that the band's lead singer, Ralf Hütter, revealed there's a thematic reason the song is German.

“The German language, like our own rhythms, is more machinelike, more abrupt," said Hütter during a 1975 Rolling Stone magazine interview.

Wolfgang Flür Shared Some Insight Into the Song During the 2009 Documentary, 'Krautrock'

In an interview for the 2009 BBC4 Documentary, Krautrock, Kraftwerk's percussionist, Wolfgang Flür, discussed how the creation of the German motorways following the end of World War II inspired the band's hit, "Autobahn." He explained that the highways allowed a sense of freedom and fun, which the band enjoyed firsthand.

"Germany developed more and more after the war. Everything had to be rebuilt. As they built more Autobahns and more Autobahns, and we could drive longer Autobahns and longer and faster and faster and the engines became stronger," said the musician, now 78. "And the cars, they were more beautiful and more beautiful. Young men, which we were in between, could afford, really buy such cars. And we took a car and go. Went just for fun on the Autobahns, 120, 140, 150, that was fun."

He explained that he and his bandmates, which also included Florian Schneider and Klaus Röder, implemented the sounds heard in a fast-moving vehicle for the now-iconic song.

"We opened the window, 'pft, pft, pft, wah, wah, wah,' Or you heard the wind, 'pft, pft, pft.' And we made all of these things music," said Flür while filming the Krautrock documentary.

Country Star's 'Mind-Blowing' 'Banger' Just Earned One of the Year's Biggest Honors

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 5:47pm

Kacey Musgraves has added another major accolade to her celebrated career.

Billboard has named Musgraves' latest single, "Dry Spell," one of The 50 Best Songs of 2026 So Far, ranking it No. 5 on the publication's midyear list. In its review, Billboard went even further, praising the song's witty lyricism, playful music video and calling it a "perfect single."

The recognition comes after fans spent more than a year waiting for a song like "Dry Spell."

While Musgraves' 2024 album Deeper Well earned widespread critical acclaim for its introspective songwriting, Billboard noted that listeners had been waiting "a lot longer than 'three-hundred and thirty-five days'" for the kind of upbeat, clever country anthem that "Dry Spell" delivers.

"Kacey Musgraves is at it again – well, not it, but making phenomenal, mind-blowing country music ... it is fair to say that fans have been waiting a lot longer than 'three-hundred and thirty-five days' for a banger like 'Dry Spell,'" writes Billboard.

The Western-inspired track is packed with humorous double entendres about the narrator's frustrating love life, including lines about having "ain't nobody's boots under my bed" and "ain't nobody's truck up in my drive." Rather than leaning into heartbreak, Musgraves approaches the subject with her trademark wit, turning loneliness into something both relatable and funny.

Billboard also singled out Musgraves' vocal performance, praising the way she stretches phrases like "real long" and "last time" to emphasize just how over the situation her narrator has become. According to the publication, the song's tongue-in-cheek music video, featuring a suggestive grocery store run, "only adds to the humor of an already perfect single."

The latest honor is another reminder of why Musgraves remains one of country music's most acclaimed artists.

Since breaking through with Same Trailer Different Park, the Texas singer-songwriter has earned multiple Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year for Golden Hour. Her ability to blend traditional country influences with thoughtful songwriting has made her one of the genre's most distinctive voices while attracting fans well beyond country music.

Now, "Dry Spell" is earning praise not just from listeners but from critics as well.

Landing in Billboard's top five songs of the year so far places the single alongside some of 2026's biggest releases across every genre, further cementing Musgraves' reputation for consistently delivering songs that resonate with both fans and reviewers.

Amazon's 'Lovely' $96 Foldable Acacia Bench Is Giving 'Charming' Storybook Cottage Energy

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 5:30pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

A bench is one of the easiest ways to add seating to a porch, patio, or balcony. If you're short on space, a foldable one you can tuck away when not in use can come in handy, and Amazon has an excellent option up for grabs this Prime Day. It packs away neatly in the off-season and is simple to carry wherever you need extra seating, from a backyard barbecue to a picnic in the park.

Right now, the Giantex Foldable Outdoor Bench is on sale during Prime Day for $96, down from $130. That’s the lowest price for the product this year! Shoppers called it a "good value for the price" and said it's a "perfect bench for indoor or outdoor use."

Made from high-grade acacia wood, the bench is built to be sturdy and hold up outdoors. It has a smooth, slatted seat with a curved back and contoured armrests that make it comfortable to sit on. The bench seats two and holds up to 705 pounds, and anti-slip legs keep it steady while protecting your floors. For the price, one shopper called it "very solid and comfortable."

The folding design is the biggest selling point. When you're not using it, the bench folds flat so you can store it in a corner, garage, or shed. That makes it a good choice for small patios and balconies, or for packing away in the off-season when the weather cools down. To store or carry it, just fold it and lock it in place with the built-in locking latch.

Shoppers said it's simple to set up, too. "I was able to assemble it myself without any issues. The design is also very charming," one wrote. Another said it's a "lovely bench, well made, and easy to assemble," while a third would "highly recommend it, especially for a small deck or balcony area."

If the foldable style isn't your look, Giantex has a few other versions of the bench on sale too — a classic cross-back, an open x-back, and a v-shaped back.
