Dumped 'Love Island USA' Star Reacts to the Internet Drama Waiting For Him at Home

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 8:00pm

While his Love Island USA experience may be over, Casa Amor boy Kyle Greene didn’t leave the drama on the Island. Upon settling back in at home, the former Islander is addressing rumors his ex-girlfriend posted head-on.

Prior to Greene’s appearance on Love Island USA, Greene’s ex-girlfriend posted to her Instagram story discussing the two’s relationship.

She shared, “If everyone didn’t already know, Kyle Greene, my ex since a month ago, that I live with, who I was with for 3.5 years, is the new bombshell on Love Island tonight, so please don’t text me about it,” in a now-deleted Instagram story.

The story continued to post a photo of the two of them together, alleging, “and btw just so everyone knows this was us two days before he went on LOL. Told me he moved to Chicago to make some money so he can be better and get his ‘family back.’”

Her last story stated, “I’ve been paying his rent for 6 months because he didn’t have money and said he was going to work in Chicago to make me back, and he goes on a dating show. Like you don’t have a job. Anyone wanna take any guesses as to what he’s gonna say [about] this?”

Now, Greene is sharing his side of the story. “I just wanted to clear some things up,” he explained in a video he posted to his personal Instagram account.

He shared that his ex was truthful about the time they were together. “We were together for three and a half years,” he said.

But that’s where Greene's stories differ, “We did break up about 4 or 5 months ago,” he said.

Greene shared that this was due to various factors in their relationship. “It wasn't going quite the way that she and I wanted it to go. That's just how relationships go sometimes, and we did end up breaking up, due to her breaking up with me.”

He shared that they were living together, but “it wasn’t really working out,” so he moved out shortly after they broke up.

Regarding moving to Chicago, Greene says he did move there, but he’s been there for a while. That was when he was approached by Love Island USA production to join Season 8.

The Casa Amor boy added, “Because I wasn't in a relationship anymore, I decided that I couldn't pass up on the opportunity, and I decided to pursue that.”

Greene stated he is now just trying to adjust to life post-Love Island USA and get back to his new normal.

Donald Trump Jr. Is Everyone’s Annoying Older Brother In Ivanka’s New Wedding Photos

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 7:58pm

The photos from Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Trump’s magical Memorial Day weekend wedding in the Bahamas just keep coming. And while the new Mrs. Trump just posted a series of romantic pics from ‘Night 2,’ it’s Ivanka Trump’s latest photo that’s getting all the attention.

Earlier this week, President Donald Trump’s eldest daughter shared more family photos from her brother’s nuptials, captioning the carousel, “Still basking in the joy of these memories.” While the sweet snapshots include plenty of romance, the first picture…well, judge for yourself.

View this post on Instagram

As Ivanka and husband Jared Kushner pose for a cute couple’s shot, big bro Don Jr. sneaks into the frame—making a hilarious kissy face. And yes, for a moment, we almost forget that the photo is of the First Family, or that the trio is sometimes (or more than sometimes) at the center of some sort of politically charged controversy, because Trump Jr. is pretty much everyone’s annoyingly bratty brother.

Ivanka’s silly sib commented on the post, writing, “Not gonna lie…I think I pulled off the best photobomb ever.” One commenter replied, “Love the 'annoying brother' bothering his sister,” and another said, “lol yes you did! Reminded me of my brother.”

Meanwhile, Bettina chose an alternative approach for her wedding Instagram post. Instead of including the photobomb pic, she shared classic shots of the family enjoying what she called, “An unforgettable night of pure joy, music, sunset, and dancing barefoot in the sand, surrounded by nothing but love in paradise.” She continued, “It was everything we dreamed and more…pure magic.”

View this post on Instagram

Along with plenty of party pictures, Bettina also posted photos of the flowers, a chic tablescape, and herself (with her husband, of course) on the beach.

Unlike the comments on Ivanka’s photo of her annoying older brother, fans had a somewhat different take on Bettina’s post. Commenters showered the newlyweds with praise, writing, “Absolutely stunning!” and, “Bettina, your face full of such absolute joy is what makes these even more beautiful.”

1964 No. 1 Classic Hit, Originally a Flop, Became a Beloved Live Duet Featuring 'Queen of Rock' 17 Years Later

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 7:58pm

Any classic rock fan can tell you that Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty made beautiful music together, but not everybody knows that "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" wasn't their only hit duet (even if it was their most successful).

In 1981, Nicks (who was deemed the "Reigning Queen of Rock and Roll" by Rolling Stone that year) joined Petty and the Heartbreakers onstage at the Forum in Los Angeles to perform a cover of the '60s classic, "Needles and Pins." The song was later released on Petty's first official live album, 1985's Pack Up the Plantation: Live!, per Ultimate Classic Rock.

While "Needles and Pins" didn't have the same chart success as the aforementioned "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" (which peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100), it did make it all the way to #17 on the U.S. Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart in 1986 and quickly became a fan-favorite tune. But 17 years before that duet at the Forum, another musical act took the song all the way to #1 in the U.K.

Originally written by Sonny Bono and Jack Nitzsche, "Needles and Pins" was first recorded by Jackie DeShannon in 1963. Unfortunately, her version of the song didn't climb any higher than #84 on the Hot 100.

In a Songfacts interview, DeShannon blamed the song's lack of success on her record company's unsatisfactory marketing campaign.

"For instance, 'Needles and Pins' was Top 5 in Detroit, Top 5 in Chicago, and Top 5 in every city it was played in," she recalled. "However, unless you're coordinated across the country and the song hits the charts at the same time, you can't get the big leaps. My record didn't have that, because it would be going down in Chicago while it was going up in some other city. So that was a problem."

Next, the song fell into the hands of English rock band the Searchers, part of the Merseybeat scene. The group heard singer Cliff Bennett perform "Needles and Pins" at the Star-Club in Hamburg, Germany, and decided it should be their next single. Released in January 1964, the Searchers' take on "Needles and Pins" didn't just top the charts in the U.K., it peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S.

Like the Beatles just a few months earlier, the Searchers made music history when they performed on The Ed Sullivan Show in April, 1964, where they brought "Needles and Pins" into the homes of music lovers all over the country.

In between the Searchers and Petty/Nicks, yet another notable band covered the song: In 1978, the Ramones put their own infectious spin on "Needles and Pins," which was released on their fourth studio album, Road to Ruin.

Olivia Wilde Finally Addresses On-Set Feud With Florence Pugh

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 7:56pm

Olivia Wilde is setting things straight about what happened on the set of Don't Worry Darling.

Her 2022 movie is better remembered for what happened off-screen than for what happened on it. Upon release, rumors swirled that Wilde, who directed the movie, had an on-set feud with leading actress Florence Pugh.

There were even reports that Pugh and Wilde had screaming matches on-set. Wilde has finally addressed these rumors and confirmed they were totally made up.

“I have never had a screaming match on my set. I was never not available on set,” Olivia told The Cuton Wednesday.

Luckily, the House actor was fiercely defended by her crew. After Vulture reported screaming matches between the director and Pugh, a group of 40 crew members who worked on the movie issued a joint statement in support of her.

“As a crew, we’ve avoided addressing the absurd gossip surrounding the movie we’re so proud of, but feel the need to correct the anonymous ‘sources’ quoted in a recent article,” the statement read. “There was never a screaming match between our director and anyone, let alone a member of our cast.”

“We are happy to put our names on this, as real people who worked on the film, and who have witnessed and benefitted from the collaborative and safe space Olivia creates as a director and leader,” the crew’s statement continued. “We’re also thrilled that the movie is in theaters this weekend. We can’t wait for you to see it on the big screen.”

While Wilde has bounced back as both an actress and director, she believes Hollywood “has robbed me of my naïveté," adding. “I deeply hate the feeling of being misunderstood, too.”

View this post on Instagram

She found some comfort from Jennifer Garner, someone she worked with back in 2011 on an indie project called Butter. "She said it’s like you get cast in a soap opera by the public,” Wilde remembers. “And they assign you an obvious archetype: the damsel in distress, the good girl, the pretty girl.”

Wilde admitted she was initially cast as “an object of desire.” But in the past few years, she feels her character was rewritten: “I became the full-on villain. Like Cruella.”

This is the first time Olivia has publicly spoken about the incident, but not because she didn't want to but because the studio asked her not to.

“I was told, ‘Don’t say a f------ word. Just go out there and smile,’” she recalls, shaking her head. “I resent that, but it taught me it’s not the way I want to handle things.”

Last week, Olivia told Variety how hard it was not to be able to address the backlash, much of which revolved around Wilde's relationship with Harry Styles.

“I was like, ‘It’s not about me. It’s about this movie that everyone works so hard to make,’” Wilde explained. “And I felt like I was working on behalf of hundreds of people who had worked through Covid to make something really difficult.”

Why Keeping Your Savings in a Traditional Bank Could Be Costing You $500 a Year

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 7:51pm

Many people don’t think twice about where their savings sit. If it’s in a traditional bank account, it feels safe, simple, and “good enough.” However, that comfort could come at a quiet cost — hundreds of dollars in lost interest every year.

The difference comes down to where your money is parked. Standard savings accounts at many big banks still offer very low interest rates, often close to zero. Meanwhile, Investopedia confirms high-yield savings accounts (HYSAs) typically offer significantly higher annual percentage yields, allowing your money to grow instead of sitting idle.

The Hidden Cost of “Set It and Forget It”

Keeping savings in a low-interest account doesn’t usually feel like losing money. There’s no obvious fee or transaction. Over time, though, the gap between what your money could earn versus what it actually earns adds up, as per the FDIC.

For example, someone with $10,000 in a traditional savings account earning around 0.1% might make just a few dollars a year in interest. The same amount in a HYSA earning roughly 4% to 5% could generate $400 to $500 annually. That difference becomes even more significant as balances grow or as rates remain elevated.

According to Bankrate, traditional savings accounts continue to lag far behind high-yield alternatives, with many big banks still paying near-zero returns while online institutions compete with much higher rates.

Why HYSAs Pay More

Photo by Alistair Berg on Getty Images

According to Investopedia, high-yield savings accounts are typically offered by online banks or digital-first financial institutions. Without the overhead costs of maintaining physical branches, these banks can pass higher interest rates back to customers in the form of better yields.

Importantly, HYSAs are still FDIC-insured in the U.S., meaning deposits are protected up to $250,000 per depositor, per institution, just like traditional bank accounts. That makes them a low-risk option for emergency funds or short-term savings goals.

A Simple Switch With Outsized Impact

Moving money into a HYSA doesn’t require changing your budget, spending, or saving. In most cases, it’s a one-time transfer and account setup that can continue to generate higher returns month after month with little ongoing effort.

HYSAs can be used for emergency funds, vacation savings, home down payments, or other long-term goals, allowing your cash to earn interest while remaining accessible when you need it.

'Love Island USA': Gabriel Reveals if He'll Date Beatriz Outside the Villa

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 7:43pm

Gabriel Vasconcelos was a bombshell who coupled up with Beatriz Hatz. The Brazilian model communicated with her more than the other islanders because she spoke Spanish.

But Love Island USASeason 8 had its first emotional exit with Beatriz being dumped from the island. She was open to reuniting with Gabriel once he returned. He revealed if they are going to pursue a romantic relationship now that they're off the show.

The women in the villa chose to send Gabriel home in episode 15. They said he kept jumping between women. He spent time with bombshells Jen Terry and Sol Dean, as he was coupled up with Beatriz. They believed he was leading with lust.

He cried when Beatriz left, which was a sign that there was a connection. Entertainment Tonight asked him if they will date now they're out of the villa.

"I mean me and Bea had good moments in the villa, but now we're in real life," he said. "So like, she lives in L.A., I live in Miami." He said they're friends and he doesn't know about his future with Jen.

"I'm focused on myself for now," the model said. "That's what I want to do just focus because I'm overwhelmed by everything."

Gabriel Feels Like He Was Misunderstood Because of His Culture Sol Dean and Gabriel Vianna Vasconcelos on 'Love Island USA'

Gabriel returned to Instagram on June 21 and thanked people for their support. He also addressed the negative perception of him.

"I knew people would judge me no matter what because I come from a culture that’s very different from the one here in the U.S., but I was never afraid to show who we are as Brazilians," he wrote in the caption. "We’re not better, and we’re not worse, we’re just different."

Gabriel was often shown kissing instead of having conversations. Fans realized he might've had deeper moments when he said goodbye to Beatriz.

"I’ll admit I was a little frustrated with how I was portrayed at times, but at the end of the day, I know who I am, and the people in the villa got to see the real me too," continued the caption. "Most importantly, I don’t regret a thing. I stayed true to myself from day one, made amazing memories, learned a lot, and grew as a person. If I had the chance to do it all over again, I’d do it exactly the same way."

The men in the villa told the women that they felt like Kenzie Annis was also lustful, which she denied. Gabriel said in the same interview that he would've sent Kenzie home if he had the power. He also thinks that he was treated differently from her because he's a man.

The cast is now in Casa Amor. The islanders often think about which attraction is about physical attraction or something more in comparison to their former partners.

’70s Rock Legends Release ‘Exhiliterating’ New Single From Their 24th Album

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 7:30pm

Deep Purple is having a very colorful year so far. Not only is the band on a massive tour right now, but they are promoting a new album and releasing multiple singles ahead of its release. The latest from the forthcoming Splat! is “Guilt Trippin’,” a high-energy hard rock anthem.

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

Speaking with Classic Rock about the making of the song, DP lead singer Ian Gillan said, “The song starts, and I’m in the studio. I don’t have any words for it yet. So I just start screaming. It was the pure joy of yelling at it."

He added, “I vowed when I was 40 that I’d stop screaming by the time I was 60. Now I’m looking back and thinking, ‘Whatever happened to that?’ So we’ll give it a go.”

Beginning with a delicate piano intro, the track then gives way to driving guitar riffs and a buoyant rhythm, which usher in an electric vocal performance via Gillan. The lyrics imagine Charles Darwin and GodAlmighty drinking a pint at a pub, reflecting on how humanity didn’t go according to plan.

Reviews of the song, however, seem to be right on target.

Thus far, music experts are calling the song “exhilarating,” “supercharged,” and “a blast.” Blabbermouth goes so far as to say the track is one of the album’s “most unpredictable and exhilarating moments — and one of Ian Gillan's most memorable vocal performances on the album.”

The band also released a music video to go with the single. In the visuals, the surreal concept is brought to life through a dreamlike journey of a housefly and sycamore-seed spaceship. You have to see it (above) to make it make sense.

Guilt Trippin’” is the third single off DP's 24th studio album. It follows “Diablo,” released earlier this month, and "Arrogant Boy,” dropped in May. The album, set to arrive July 3, was produced by frequent DP collaborator Bob Ezrin. Preorder is available now.

As the band continue their tour through Europe, they are also gracing the cover of Classic Rock magazine this month. According to the publication's website, the band gets into the nitty-gritty of making Splat!within the issue's pages.

For those waiting for the North American leg of the tour to kick off, that happens in August. Tour dates and ticket information can be found here.

Formed in 1968, Deep Purple has one founding member still in its lineup, drummer Ian Paice. Gillan and bassist Roger Glover, who joined in 1969, remain active members. And the current lineup is rounded out by keyboardist Don Airey and guitarist Simon McBride

Dave Ramsey Says Credit Cards Are a 'Trap'— But Some Say They Can Have Benefits

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 7:27pm

Dave Ramsey, a well-known personal finance author, radio host, and founder of Ramsey Solutions, has built his reputation on helping people get out of debt and avoid financial pitfalls.

One of his most consistent warnings? Credit cards. He frequently calls them a “trap” that encourages overspending and debt, arguing that they are more harmful than helpful for most consumers.

View this post on Instagram

In guidance published by his finance and education company, Ramsey Solutions, credit cards are described as “dangerous debt that’s masquerading as harmless, helpful money (aka a trap),” with the organization also warning that rewards programs often push people to spend more than they normally would.

While Ramsey’s caution resonates with many Americans trying to stay out of debt, others say credit cards can be a useful tool when used responsibly.

The Benefits of Responsible Credit Card Use

Photo by Ippei Naoi on Getty Images

Many point out that credit cards, when paid off in full each month, can actually support stronger financial health rather than undermine it.

According to experts cited by Fox Business, consistently paying off credit card balances can help improve credit scores by keeping credit utilization low and building a strong record of on-time payments.

Credit cards can also offer practical protections and perks. Many include fraud protection that limits consumer liability for unauthorized charges, making them safer than cash or debit in some situations.

Rewards programs may also provide cash back, travel points, or statement credits that effectively return value on everyday spending.

Kiplinger notes that responsible credit card use can improve financial health while unlocking benefits such as travel insurance, purchase protection, and rewards. This is as long as users avoid carrying a balance and paying interest.

Building Credit and Financial Flexibility

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau also highlights credit-building as a major advantage. Since credit scores are used for mortgages, auto loans, and even rental applications, a well-managed credit card can help establish a strong financial profile over time that will help you be approved for different lending applications.

Used strategically, credit cards can also provide short-term flexibility, helping people manage cash flow between paychecks or cover unexpected expenses without immediately tapping savings.

The Bottom Line

While Dave Ramsey and Ramsey Solutions strongly advise avoiding credit cards due to the risk of debt, many argue the real issue is not the card itself, but how it is used.

For those who struggle with overspending or carrying balances, avoiding credit cards may be the safest option. However, for disciplined users who pay their statement in full each month, credit cards can offer rewards, protection, and credit-building benefits that cash and debit cards cannot match.

‘Jersey Shore’ Star Marries In a Romantic Surprise Wedding

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 7:21pm

Jersey Shore’sJenni ‘JWoww’ Farley married her fiancé, wrestler Zack Carpinello, in a surprise wedding on Wednesday. The reality TV star managed to trick 50 of her closest friends and family into thinking they were going to a premiere of her upcoming film, Nanny Cam. But instead, her nearest and dearest were treated to a romanticBeauty and the Beast-inspired wedding!

The new bride recently revealed to PEOPLE, “We envisioned a small, meaningful celebration focused on the people who matter most to us.” She continued, “We weren’t interested in throwing the biggest wedding possible. We wanted an unforgettable moment shared with our closest family and friends. The goal was creating memories, not creating a production.”

Farley and Carpinello’s nuptials were held at Madison Modern Social in Old Bridge, New Jersey.

View this post on Instagram

J Woww’s wedding color palette featured deep ruby reds with rose gold accents. She explained,  “The overall inspiration was a modern Beauty and the Beast fairy tale with a dark romance twist.”

Even though deep red and rose golds were the colors of the day, J Woww wore a classic white dress from Castle Couture, saying she wanted her gown to be “romantic, timeless, and worthy of a modern fairy tale.”

Not one to follow traditions, Farley walked down the aisle to Lana Del Rey’s ‘Young and Beautiful’ in honor of her BFF Nicole ‘Snookie’ Polizzi (who chose the tune as her first dance song at her own wedding). Carpinello made his entrance to ‘The Name’s Bond…James Bond’ from Casino Royale.

So how did the couple manage to keep their wedding under wraps? Farley explained, “We’ve spent months keeping this secret, creating invitations, planning the movie-themed details, and building the surprise. Seeing our family and friends go from thinking they’re attending a special screening for Nanny Cam to realizing they’re actually at our wedding will be a moment we’ll never forget.”

The newlyweds noted, “We wanted the day to feel personal, memorable, and full of joy, and there’s really something special about sharing such a meaningful surprise with the people we love most.”

Farley also made sure that her two children, 11-year-old daughter Meilani and 10-year-old son Greyson (with ex-husband Roger Mathews), were “celebrated and included every step of the way.” Carpinello gave Meilano a ruby birthstone ring (tied to the color scheme) and Greyson a soccer-themed present before the wedding.

The mom of two said, “We wanted the day to celebrate not only our love story but also the family we’ve built together over the last seven years.”

Blockbuster Dystopian Series Officially Headed to Netflix for the First Time

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 7:19pm

Fans of Suzanne Collins, Katniss Everdeen, and Panem rejoice!

For the first time ever the entire franchise of the blockbuster series The Hunger Gameswill be available to stream on Netflix. All five films, the original four and the story's prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, will be heading to the streamer on July 14th.

This is the first time all of the films will be available to stream in one place and without individual purchase since their removal from HBO Max.

Originally filmed and released over the course of 2011 to 2015, The Hunger Games franchise was a massive success and blockbuster hit generating more than $3 billion at the box office. The prequel, released in 2023, generated more than $348 million at the box office. The films are some of the highest grossing movies of all time.

The franchise has also been critically acclaimed, with the four original films a 70% or higher score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Based on the YA dystopian series by acclaimed author Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games takes place in the fictional Panem in a post-apocalyptic North America. Following an uprising and a rebellion, the country is redefined into different districts by the tyrannical Capitol, who once a year force a young boy and girl from each district to fight to the death in a televised event called "The Hunger Games." When 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen from District 12 enters the games, it sets in motion something the young girl never could have predicted, and changes everything.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, also based on a novel by Collins, tells the story of the 10th Annual Hunger Games from the perspective of a young Coriolanus Snow, who later becomes the main antagonist of the series.

The sixth film in the franchise, Sunrise on the Reaping, will hit theaters this November 20, 2026. Similar to The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Sunrise on the Reaping looks back on Haymitch Abernathy, a staple character in the original story who competed in his own games in his youth. No information on streaming for Sunrise on the Reaping is available at this time.

Kohl's Shoppers Say This 'Beautiful' Summer Staple Is Easy to Dress Up or Down

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Getting dressed in the summer sounds easy in theory. Fewer layers, less bulk, less time spent standing in front of the closet, right? And yet, somehow, it feels trickier than getting dressed at any other time of year. When temperatures climb, you're not just looking for clothes that look cute—you need pieces that actually feel comfortable, too. Because nothing ruins a great outfit faster than realizing it's trapping heat like a personal sauna.

The challenge is finding that sweet spot between polished and practical. You want fabrics that feel light and breathable, silhouettes that don't cling, and pieces that can handle everything from a quick coffee run to a day at the office without leaving you counting down the minutes until you can change into pajamas. Bonus points if they look put-together with minimal effort, because summer is no time for high-maintenance dressing.

Beloved Actor Reveals 'Terrifying' Experience Hosting Final Black Sabbath Concert

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 7:02pm

We're coming up on one year since the instantly legendary "Back to the Beginning" concert. The send off to Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbournefeatured maybe the greatest lineup of any metal concert in history, showcasing a who's who of the genre. One wonderful part of that concert was the show's host, Jason Momoa.

Momoa has always been a massive metalhead. It's come up in tons of interviews over the years, including him being spotted in the pit at various metal shows. He's not shy about his love for the genre and the greats that have shaped it, which is why he had a difficult experience hosting the star-studded concert.

In a new interview with the BBC, Momoa revealed his experience hosting, and all the challenges that came with introducing all of his favorite musicians.

"Terrifying," is how Momoa described hosting the concert, "Hosting is so scary," he added.

Momoa tells a story about how he had to recite a massive introductory script with no teleprompter, instead having to use a stage prompter, which is a small little monitor at the edge of the stage that scrolls the lyrics of a song so the performers have a reference if they forget the words.

"I'm there looking up to all the guys that I listened to in my childhood," Momoa also revealed, bringing the conversation down to earth and reminding us all that we're all just fans deep down.

The best part of the interview is at the end, where Momoa talks about getting to let go and just be a fan once he was no longer needed. He jumped into the pit with the rest of the fans, and rocked out to some of the greatest music of all time.

"Back to the Beginning" was no doubt one of the most iconic concerts in history, and this is one of the reasons why. No matter who you are, this music affected and changed your life, and it was amazing to see everyone together for one final show.

These lounge pants feature a stretchy elastic waistband adorned with the iconic Hanes text logo all the way around. Though it's not adjustable, the classic lay-flat design means it shouldn't roll or sag. The cut of these pants is straight and relaxed through the leg, but tapered at the ankle, so they shouldn't drag on the ground. Shoppers who purchased their usual size said they hit right at the top of the foot.

Available in sizes X-small through XX-large, the pants are made from a blend of 57% cotton, 38% polyester, and 5% spandex. Reviewers reported that the pants didn’t shrink or fade when washed and dried on a regular cycle. They also shouldn't stretch out to the point where they look saggy, even with repeated wearings. "The material has just the right amount of stretch to it," one shopper explained.

1968 Classic Rock Hit, Inspired by a Spontaneous Riff, Remains a Timeless Road Trip Anthem 58 Years Later

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 6:50pm

You could say 1968 was a pretty big year for Steppenwolf...but that would be an understatement. First, "Born to Be Wild," from the band's self-titled debut album, became their breakthrough hit. Because Steppenwolf was contractually obliged to produce two records per year at the time, that meant the pressure was on to write another super popular single right away. The question was, could the group manage to make magic happen again so quickly?

As it turned out, yes. Released in September 1968 as the lead single from Steppenwolf's next album, The Second, "Magic Carpet Ride" peaked at #3 on the Billboard pop chart, where the catchy, upbeat rocker stayed for an impressive 16 weeks. To this day, the tune remains a classic; it's been featured in countless movies and TV shows and it's still a radio staple, not to mention a road tripplaylist mainstay.

And to think, the song might never have existed if not for one "bouncy" bass riff.

As Steppenwolf lead singer and co-writer John Kay told the Wall Street Journal in 2016, the band didn't have a full album's worth of songs when they headed into the studio to record The Second.

"One day, Jerry [Edmonton]’s brother Dennis, who had changed his name to Mars Bonfire, came in to show us a new song he had written," Kay recalled. "At some point, Rushton [Moreve] started playing this bouncy riff on his bass that he had played during sound checks on our first tour. Mars liked the riff and started playing chords against it on his Fender Jazzmaster guitar."

"The guys in the booth went nuts," he continued. "They came on the speaker and said, 'Hey, keep doing that. That’s really good,' so we kept at it. But all we had was this cool riff. Mars suggested we add an instrumental interlude. He played these chords that led into the jam, for which I later wrote the lyrics, 'Close your eyes girl/ Look inside girl/ Let the sound take you away.'"

Kay went on to explain that a few of the song's other lines were about "how great my new stereo sounded."

"Months earlier, as royalties from the success of our first album started to come in, [Kay's wife] Jutta and I replaced our lousy stereo with a top-notch system from a high-end audio store in Beverly Hills," he said. "As soon as I put in the cassette and heard the electronic sound effects in the opening, the song’s lyrics popped into my head: 'I like to dream/ Yes-yes, right between my sound machine/ On a cloud of sound, I drift in the night/ Any place it goes is right.'"

Realizing he had to "go someplace" with the rest of the lyrics, Kay "came up with, 'Last night I held Aladdin’s lamp' and all the imagery of making a wish."

"The 'little girl' in the song wasn’t supposed to be anyone specific," he added. "For me, it was Jutta."

Kay's account of how "Magic Carpet Ride" was written essentially shuts down the decades of rumors about the song being inspired by drugs.

"I didn’t drop acid before writing the lyrics, as many people later assumed," he quipped. "And the lyrics weren’t about an acid trip. I may have smoked a joint that night, but that was it. Since birth, I’ve had achromatopsia — complete color blindness. If I had dropped acid, I would have been hallucinating in vivid black and white. I doubt that would have helped me or the song much."

Decades later, it's clear the song didn't need any help anyway.

Savannah Guthrie Alerts Police After True-Crime Vlogger Appears Outside Her Mother’s House

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 6:48pm

Savannah Guthrie reached out to law enforcement after a YouTube personality was filming in front of her mother's house.

According to police records, obtained by TMZ, the broadcast journalist contacted authorities on June 11 once she learned that a YouTuber known as "Criminal Network" was livestreaming in front of Nancy Guthrie’s Arizona residence.

The property is where Nancy was abducted earlier this year.

The report said that the police believed the individual to be Alex Zabel, based on previous investigations.

According to police documents, Savannah is one of the property's responsible parties. During the past few months, she’s had to manage online "true crime" content creators and was "extremely upset" to find out Zabel was back at her mother’s home.

Law enforcement wrote that the NBCToday show anchor has shared concerns about safety for herself and her family due to the actions of vloggers.

Savannah’s call on Zabel was reportedly sent to the Pima County Sheriff's Department Patrol Division, where they were already responding to a service pertaining to the issue. Police said she thanked them for their help.

According to the report, she was not aware of what Zabel was allegedly saying or doing while filming, but his presence was distressing to Savannah.

It is uncertain if any other law enforcement action was taken.

Nancy was 84 years old when she was kidnapped from her home and has remained missing. Multiple ransom notes were sent to the media in the days after she was taken.

The first note demanded millions of dollars in bitcoin for Nancy, but a later note stated she died days after the abduction and was buried in nature.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has said the investigation remains “active and ongoing.” While Nancy’s family is also still offering a $1 million reward for answers.

1984 Rock Classic, Later Reimagined as a No. 1 Hit, Became a Road Trip Anthem

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 6:44pm

It wouldn't be a surprise if a majority of road trip mix tapes had Bruce Springsteen's "Pink Cadillac." The 1983 rock song became a staple driving anthem that was transformed into a dance-pop cover years later that topped one of the charts.

Years before its release, Springsteen had the working lyrics of "Pink Cadillac" when it was originally titled "Love Is a Dangerous Thing." Making some creative changes into a lighthearted version, he kept the song's original hook that was inspired by Elvis Presley's "Baby Let's Play House." Many recall how the king of rock n' roll would travel on tour in a custom-painted pink Cadillac.

The track wasn't originally meant to be a hit and was an acoustic version while Springsteen was working on his Nebraska album. It was later recorded during sessions for Born in the U.S.A and released as the B-side for the album's lead single "Dancing in the Dark." It still became a major hit among radio jockeys and received prominent airplay that landed it at No. 27 on the Billboard Top Tracks chart for 14 weeks.

"Pink Cadillac" would become a major chart-topper four years later in 1988 when it was reimagined into a dance-pop track by Natalie Cole. It would land at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and No.1 on Billboard's Dance Club Songs. For Cole, the song was a career comeback at the suggestion of producer Dennis Lambert, whose enthusiasm gave her the confidence to record it.

“I thought to myself, ‘I’m too old to be doing this kind of stuff.’ I couldn’t imagine myself onstage rockin’ to the music like Tina Turner. But ‘Pink Cadillac’ turned out to be a big song, and it took us all over the place. With ‘Pink Cadillac,’ I started playing club dates where the gay crowd hung from the rafters—it was my Grace Jones kind of a vibe," said Cole, according to American Songwriter.

Critics praised Cole's version for giving the rock track a "sassy" edge, with Springsteen having learned of her version of the song and thinking "it was very cool that a woman could [sing "Pink Cadillac"] and it would come out so great".

Alongside Cole,Bette Midleralso planned to release her own version of "Pink Cadillac" for her No Frills album after having performed it on tour. Springsteen heard of her plans and blocked the release of her cover, claiming it wasn't a "girl's song." In 2006, Jerry Lewis covered the track with additional vocals by Springsteen himself.

The canopy is made from polyester with a polyurethane coating, so it's water-resistant, fade-resistant, and adds UV protection. It measures 13 feet long, 10 feet wide, and nearly 9 feet high. That’s big enough to provide shade for an outdoor seating area or a grilling station.

This pergola is designed to lean against a wall for extra stability, and it comes with eight ground stakes that can secure it to soft or hard terrain. Its sloped roof helps prevent water from pooling on top and features 12 grommet holes for water drainage. It's also detachable, so it's easy to take down and clean at the end of the season.

While this particular pergola model doesn’t have many reviews yet, one shopper praised the “easy instructions” and said it came with all the necessary parts. 1968 Rock Hit, Nearly Overlooked by The Band, Became a Cross-Generational Anthem

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 6:39pm

The Band's 1968 masterpiece, “The Weight,” has been covered by legends, featured in classic cinema, and embraced by generations of listeners. Yet, when the group was recording their debut album, Music From Big Pink, they nearly overlooked the song, chalking it up to little more than a fallback track — filler should some other material not work out.

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

Nearly six decades later, the heavy, yet redemptive song has become not just one of the most celebrated songs in The Band’s catalog, but one of the most enduring songs in all of rock history. A foundational pillar of Americana, it carries a cross-generational legacy that has spanned time and genres to become a shared piece of cultural heritage. So, it’s wild to think it was originally just an afterthought.

“We’d tried it a number of different ways, but we weren’t that excited about it,” RobbieRobertson told Guitar Player in May 1995. “So, our attitude was, ‘Well, just in case something else isn’t working, we’ve got this song to fall back on.’”

According to the magazine, the band — composed of Levon Helm (drums and lead vocals), Rick Danko (bass guitar and co-lead), Richard Manuel (keyboards and vocals), Robbie Robertson (acoustic guitar), and Garth Hudson (keyboards) — tried several versions of the song, but it just “wasn’t working.”

Or, so they thought. It wasn’t until they sat back and gave it a listen that their thinking shifted, and the song was rescued from the cutting-room floor.

“So, we were in the studio,” Robertson said, “and just out of trying to not be boring, we said, ‘Well, let's give that “Take a load off, Fanny” song a shot.’ … It wasn’t until we listened back to it that we realized, ‘Holy sh-t, this song’s really got something.’”

Written by Robertson, the song actually has a fascinating genesis. While working on “The Weight,” he looked inside his acoustic guitar and saw its label for the famous Martin Guitar Factory, located in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. He thought the name perfectly fit the Americana vibe of his narrative-driven song and used it in the opening lyric.

“I pulled into Nazareth / Was feeling ‘bout half past dead.”

In the 2019 documentary Once Were Brothers, Robertson elaborated on the origin of the song’s meaning, inspiration, and lyrics. Sharing that the idea for the song first came from his own personal pilgrimage from his native Canada down to the Mississippi Delta at 16years old, he said that many of the song's colorful characters were inspired by real people The Band encountered throughout their lives and travels.

In his 2000 autobiography, This Wheel’s on Fire, Helm broke down the characters even further: “The song was full of our favorite characters. ‘Luke’ was Jimmy Ray Paulman. ‘Young Anna Lee’ was Anna Lee Williams from Turkey Scratch. ‘Crazy Chester’ was a guy we all knew from Fayetteville who came into town on Saturdays wearing a full set of cap guns on his hips and kinda walked around town to help keep the peace, if you follow me. … There were also ‘Carmen and the Devil,’ ‘Miss Moses,’ and ‘Fanny,’ a name that just seemed to fit the picture.”

“Well, Luke my friend / What about Annalee? (Doo-ooo-ooo) / He said, "Do me a favor? / Stay and keep Annalee some company?”

Described by Robertson as being about the “impossibility of sainthood,” the folk-rock parable wrapped in a groove that blends gospel, folk, and country rock tells the story of a weary traveler who comes to town, then becomes overwhelmed by the burdens of obligation, with a simple errand becoming an impossible mission.

“I picked up my bag / I went lookin' for a place to hide / When I saw comin' in the devil / Walkin' side by side.”

“So the guy goes and one thing leads to another,” Robertson explained in Jake Grogan’s 2017 book, Origins of a Song, “and it's like, ‘Holy sh-t, what’s this turned into? I’ve only come here to say “hello” for somebody and I’ve got myself in this incredible predicament.’”

“Take a load off, Fannie / Take a load for free / Take a load off, Fannie / Well, yeah / Put the weight on me.”

Released in the summer of 1968 as the sole single from The Band’s debut album, Music From Big Pink, the track peaked at No. 63 in the U.S. Despite hardly making a dent in the pop chart, “The Weight” took on a life of its own, appearing in Dennis Hopper’s 1969 couterculture classic Easy Rider and on the albums of music legends, with everyone from Aretha Franklin, The Grateful Dead, and Weezer, to the musician they famously backed in the 1960s, Bob Dylan, all covering the track.

Cementing the song’s status as a cross-generational anthem, Rolling Stone named it one of the greatest songs of all time.

“Of course, at the time, we had no idea how big it was going to become,” Danko told Guitar Player. “We were just doing our best to make music that had rhythm and soul.”

All these decades later, “The Weight” remains a timeless Americana masterpiece, as it continues to find new listeners. Proof that sometimes the songs artists worry about the least end up carrying the greatest load.
