• The number of ambulatory care establishments in the county
• The number of hospitals in the county
• The average hospital star rating, based on Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) quality scores
• Each state’s Medicare performance ranking reflects how well patients are served overall

“We combined these into a composite score from 0 to 100. Access carried slightly more weight, with the number of ambulatory care establishments accounting for 28% of the score and the remaining three factors contributing 24% each,” Investopedia noted.

This classic British dessert uses just four ingredients and the hollowed-out lemon as a vessel for serving. After mixing together sugar, heavy cream and lemons, and a pinch of salt, the refrigerator does the rest of the work as the treat chills and can be ready to serve for dinner in a few hours or brunch tomorrow.

My grandma always simply referred to this deliciously simple lemon dessert as “chilled stuffed lemons.” The end result is similar to a panna cotta, but made without eggs or gelatin.

What Makes My Family's Favorite 200-Year-Old Lemon Posset Recipe Different  

Our family recipe uses heavy cream, sugar and lemon juice, and a pinch of salt—bringing it to a boil in a pan and simmering for just three minutes to deliver a creamy, lemony mixture every time.

The acidity of the lemon juice firms up the texture of the heavy cream as it heats, causing the mixture to thicken and the high fat content keeps the cream from becoming curdled. (If your mixture does curdle, resulting in a grainy texture, it can be strained to smooth it out before chilling.)

The addition of salt in this short ingredient list is important. If you have never used salt in a recipe for something sweet, give it a try when making desserts as it helps balance the sweetness of the sugar with the other ingredients. Flavored salts also work here with a lemon salt or a lavender version (which perks up many of my other dessert recipes).

Real lemon juice is the key to getting the right balance of a zing of citrus. My family has also made this with lime or blood orange juice for a fun twist on citrus ingredients.

Ingredients Needed

• 1 cup heavy cream
•  ¼ cup sugar 
• ¼ cup fresh lemon juice 
• Pinch of salt 

How To Make My Family's Lemon Posset Recipe

First, cut the lemons in half and squeeze for juice.

Don’t skimp on the lemon juice used in this recipe as the tart lemon flavor is the star of the show here. Bottled lemon juice has a muted taste that won’t help the citrus shine. (If your lemons feel like they are too firm and won’t give off all their juices, roll the lemons back and forth under the weight of your palm on the kitchen counter a few times to help loosen up all the lemon goodness inside.)

Hollow out the lemons and remove any seeds.

Heat the cream, fresh lemon juice, sugar and salt.

Bring the cream mixture to a boil and lower to a steady, gentle simmer for three minutes.  Keep a watch on the time as the three-minute mark is important for helping the mixture thicken.

Allow it to cool for 10 minutes.

Then, strain the mixture through a mesh strainer. This ensures a smooth consistency and removes any lumps that may have formed. 

Pour into a vessel to chill and serve. Use a small glass, wine glass, ramekins or lemons sliced in half and hollowed out.

Tips and Substitutions

After making this for years, here are a few of my tried-and-true tips, as well as some substitution ideas.

• Be sure to use a full fat heavy cream
• Only fresh lemon juice will do for the most concentrated lemon flavor
• Try a flavored salt like lemon or lavender
• Chill for at least four hours to get a consistent set up of the ingredients or overnight
• Substitute blood orange or lime for the lemon juice 
• Infuse cream with vanilla beans or herbs like lemon thyme, rosemary, basil or mint 
• Serve with shortbread or other type of cookie
• Serve with macerated berries and lemon zest
• Garnish with fresh mint and sanding sugar for a sweet crunchy texture on top

Lemon Posset Recipe Review: Final Thoughts

Whether you are making a large holiday dinner or planning a last-minute menu for a gathering, any recipes that can be made ahead of time with just a few ingredients are always a big help. And this is one of my go-tos.

This lemon posset can be assembled and chilled as you take care of other dinner items—and you can even use the lemons themselves as the vessel for serving or dress up the lemon posset and serve in a wine glass.

When a recipe calls for heavy cream, I often like to swap in a lighter cream but this recipe, with only a few ingredients, needs the fat in the heavy cream for texture to work with the acidity of the citrus.

Whole milk, half and half or low-fat milk will tend to clump and give a grainy and unpleasant consistency to the filling. The step of straining the mixture before chilling can help solve any problems with tiny bits before chilling and keep the mixture smooth. 

With the fool-proof method of timing the three-minute simmer of lemon juice and cream, and a strainer to give a smooth texture to the filling, this recipe is easy to make, easy to love and easy to clean up!

A Rock & Roll Hall of Fame tribute to a late Beatles legend has been named one of the greatest guitar performances of all time. Rolling Stone ranked Prince’s guitar work on the Beatles classic “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” at No. 15 on its list of the 100 most iconic guitar solos. The outlet described Prince’s legendary “mega-viral guitar solo” from George Harrison’s posthumous 2004 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony as “three minutes of sublime guitar bada—ery … a blaze of acrobatic shredding, rapid-fire legato runs, and electric showmanship.”

“But even at his flashiest, Prince keeps his phrasing rooted in the melody of Harrison’s White Album classic — a show of respect from one all-timer to another,” the outlet shared.

The Rolling Stone write-up noted that in addition to being a masterful tribute to Harrison, Prince’s epic performance was considered a response to being “snubbed” on the magazine’s 2003 “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” list. According to Guitar World, in Ezra Edelman's unreleased Prince documentary, it was alleged that his jaw-dropping solo was “an act of revenge” aimed at Rolling Stone for not including him on their list.

If that was the case, the “Purple Rain” icon proved the magazine—and everyone— wrong.

Prince surprised everyone

Prince performed the blistering solo alongside Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne, and Harrison’s son, Dhani. The all-star tribute to Harrison, who died in 2001, was barely rehearsed by the musicians. Some of them almost seemed surprised when Prince completely took over the set a little more than three minutes in. Harrison’s son smiled widely as he watched Prince command his guitar. The performance ended with Prince tossing his guitar up into the air, for it never to come down.

In an interview at a MusiCares event, Dhani Harrison explained his reaction to the moment. “We had Prince playing guitar, which was the classic backbend guitar throw, which was a little gratuitous, really," he laughed. “But it was an interesting, you know, everyone's always like, ‘Wow, he's smiling so much onstage.’ And I was smiling because I was just like, oh man, I could just imagine Tom and Jeff going, ‘What the hell is going on?’”

“It was definitely a moment to be shared with the whole human race, and I was standing front and center,” Harrison added. “But it went down so well that it was a classic moment, you know.”

In an interview with The New York Times, Petty said he appreciated Prince’s show. The rocker revealed he knew something amazing was taking place as he watched Prince take over the stage. “He just burned it up,” Petty said. "You could feel the electricity of ‘something really big’s going down here.’”

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony's producer, Joel Gallen, admitted he didn’t know what was happening with Prince until the music icon began performing the outro of the Harrison classic.

“They never rehearsed it, really,” Gallen shared. “Never really showed us what he was going to do, and he left, basically telling me, the producer of the show, not to worry. And the rest is history. It became one of the most satisfying musical moments in my history of watching and producing live music.”

Twenty years ago, one of the most shocking eliminations in American Idolhistory occurred as the final four were reduced to three.

With a final four of strong talent, fans expected close voting among Taylor Hicks, Katherine McPhee, Elliot Yamin, and Chris Daughtry as Elvis Presley week arrived.

Hicks performed Jailhouse Rock and In the Ghetto, while Yamin tackled If I Can Dream and Trouble. Meanwhile, McPhee’s renditions of Hound Dog, All Shook Up, and Can’t Help Falling in Love, along with Daughtry’s performances of Suspicious Minds and A Little Less Conversation, led to them being placed in the bottom two.

Seacrest shared that “a lot of people predicted both of you could be in our finale.” Before this elimination, Daughtry was widely regarded as a front-runner, with many, American Idol host Paula Abdul included, expecting him to reach the finale, even after his most recent performance.

Seacrest echoed this, sharing that “a lot of people predicted that Chris would be the next American Idol.”

The host then quickly and jarringly announced, “Chris, you are going home tonight. The journey ends. America, you have spoken. Chris is off the show tonight.”

Immediately, the crowd began to boo, but Daughtry remained professional and sang Suspicious Minds as the credits rolled.

Speaking to Zap2it.com reporter Rick Porter at the time, Daughtry said he was blindsided by the vote and did not expect to go out in the final four. "I was just being real. I wasn't going to pretend to be happy about it," he said. "It was definitely gut-wrenching. I wasn't expecting it, not even a little bit."

Reflecting on his exit, Daughtry explained to Seacrest the following day on his radio show, “I think possibly people thought it was a shoo-in and that they didn't have to vote.”

Despite losing American Idol, Daughtry’s career moved forward. Speaking to MTV News at the time, he commented, “Now I get to put a band together and write my stuff and put the album out that I wanted to put out. So I got what I wanted out of the whole process.”

He told Seacrest on his radio show, “I hope big things happen in the future and nobody forgets about me after the show.”

It turns out his fans would not forget him, and the artist would go on to release 9 studio albums over the last 20 years, beginning with his self-titled album, Daughtry, in 2006.

The album was released on November 21, 2006. Its hit singles It’s Not Over and Home replaced Daniel Powter’s Bad Day as the farewell song for contestants on season six of American Idol in 2007.

American Idol airs on ABC with episodes streaming the next day on Hulu and Disney+.

“Every time they tried to release original, sophisticated material, the audience — and the label — demanded more reworked Motown,” BBC wrote. “By the time they found their own voice, the very bands they had inspired had overtaken them. They were the architects of a sound that they were eventually forbidden from evolving.”

Vanilla Fudge, a psychedelic rock band from Long Island, was formed in 1966. Originating from a soul cover band called The Pigeons, the group was composed of vocalist/organist Mark Stein, bassist Tim Bogert, guitarist Vince Martell, and drummer Carmine Appice. One of the most prolific acts of their day, they recorded five albums in three years before calling it quits in 1970. 

Some of their most famous covers included The Beatles’ “Eleanor Rigby” and Donovan’s “Season of the Witch.” But by far, the group’s biggest hit was their debut single, “You Keep Me Hangin’ On.” Revolutionary in its execution, the song was recorded in one take and featured on their debut self-titled album. Peaking at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 a year later, the tune became the band’s defining song. 

“We used to slow songs down and listen to the lyrics and try to emulate what the lyrics were dictating,” Appice once said, according to Far Out Magazine. “That one was a hurtin’ song; it had a lot of emotion in it.”

In January 1968, Vanilla Fudge performed their version of “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” on The Ed Sullivan Show for an estimated 50 million viewers. Their theatrical showcase was raw, explosive, and inventive. Upworthy put it best when they said, “It’s the musical version of an athlete leaving it all out on the field.” 

“Afterwards, it went off so amazing, everyone was claiming, and there were reviews in the newspapers and radio, even TV, saying that it was the most amazing performance that anyone ever did on Ed Sullivan,” Appice told Music Night at the Majestic. “Because it was so dynamic. So emotional.”

In hindsight, Vanilla Fudge’s performance and sound were considered the precursor to heavy metal and prog rock, and the beginning of the power ballad that would be perfected in the following decades. Bands like Yes, Deep Purple, and Zeppelin all took note: This wasn't hippie flower power — it was visceral, thunderous rock. 

Unfortunately, it was also the beginning of the end for Vanilla Fudge. The song was so good their label and fans wanted only more covers, ignoring their original material. Meanwhile, the bands they initially inspired ended up surpassing them. Cannibalized by their own success, the group disbanded in 1970.

Decades later, the song saw a bit of a renaissance thanks to TV and movies. It was featured on Mad Men, The Sopranos, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, and various other projects. And still, it was like hearing it for the first time. Or as Far Out put it, “For a song to be 55 years old and still raise the hairs on the back of the neck with every listen is remarkable.”

It's one of the biggest songs of 1971, but it didn't reach its Spotify streaming peak until 53 years later.

Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine" came out as a single in 1971 as part of his debut album Just As I Am. Although the bluesy soul track was a chart success and breakout hit for Withers at the time of its release, some of the song's biggest days were still to come, as it experienced a major resurgence in 2024.

According to new Spotify data, "Ain't No Sunshine" is among the songs with the biggest comeback stories in the history of the streaming platform. It had a major uptick in listenership in 2024, a whopping 53 years it first came out.

The streamer recently revealed new statistics in honor of its 20-year anniversary, unveiling some of the most-streamed songs and artists, albums, podcasts and audiobooks of all time. As part of the data drop, the streaming platform highlighted some of the "biggest comeback stories" in its history, with haunting Withers classic coming in second place.

The song had already been a success back in the '70s, peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, and reaching No. 6 on the Hot R&B Songs chart. It also ranked 23rd on Billboard's Top 100 Pop Singles of the entire year in 1971.

The second wind for "Ain't No Sunshine" was potentially the result of renewed interest in the timeless track in 2024, the same year it was added to the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry for its enduring cultural significance.

In addition to the Withers classic, Spotify named four other songs that have made some of the biggest comebacks in the history of the streaming platform. At the top of the list is Creedance Clearwater Revival's "Fortunate Son," which peaked on Spotify in 2024, 55 years after its 1969 release.

Others include Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now (1978) which peaked 41 years later in 2019, along with Kate Bush's 1985 hit "Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)," which resurged 37 years later in 2022 and the Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris" from 1998, which peaked 27 years later in 2025.

Of all the places to sip a cocktail aboard Disney Cruise Line’s Wish-class ships, the most intriguing may be the one you’d least expect: behind the doors of a classic barbershop.

Found aboard Disney Wish, Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny, Hook’s Barbery is an elevated, European style grooming salon tucked away on Deck 4. Inspired by Captain Hook’s quarters aboard the Jolly Roger, the shop offers haircuts, hot shaves and beard trims in a refined setting.

It also doubles as a speakeasy, with discreet decorative paneling that opens later in the day, revealing a fully stocked bourbon bar with a dedicated bartender crafting bespoke cocktails.

On a recent sailing aboard Disney Destiny, I booked my 6-year-old son a haircut so my husband and I could check out Hook’s Barbery. The experience was a win for all of us; my son got a fresh new style while my husband and I enjoyed pre-dinner drinks in one of the ship’s most exclusive spaces.

There’s no shortage of immersive bar and lounge options aboard Disney Cruise Line’s Wish-class ships, from the Pirates of the Caribbean-themed pub Cask & Cannon aboard Disney Destiny to the Star Wars-themed Hyperspace Lounge aboard Disney Wish and the fan-favorite Haunted Mansion Parlor aboard both Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny.

But Hook’s Barbery isn’t advertised as a bar—so despite its presence on all three ships, it doesn’t attract crowds. In fact, many guests don’t know it exists. Combined with limited seating, this low profile creates an atmosphere that feels genuinely exclusive.

One misconception is that the bar is only for barbershop patrons. This isn’t correct; the bar is for anyone 21 or older, though finding a seat can be tricky. This is why booking a late-afternoon service at the barbery can be helpful (right before the space transforms into a bar); it guarantees a spot for an experience that feels private.

There is no traditional menu at Hook’s Barbery; instead, there is a knowledgeable bartender who prepares a custom cocktail or pour depending on preference and taste. With a seemingly endless variety of whiskey to choose from (including bourbon, rye and Scotch), our bartender Amit explained the history and production process behind each bottle and described how different ingredients can influence its taste.

Amit prepared me a divine smoked Old Fashioned made with Woodford Reserve, layered with spiced brown sugar and cherry notes. My husband chose an aged Japanese whisky from Suntory, which carried subtle hints of coconut, cranberry and warm vanilla.

Prices vary widely depending on the pour; we spent about $60 on two drinks, though rare selections can climb into the thousands. Make sure to clarify pricing when ordering; spirit options with prices can also be found on an iPad in the barbery.

Hook’s Barbery features luxurious leather chairs, elegant décor in warm oak tones and deep grays and golden drapery. The theming is nautical and understated, and that’s the point; this is meant to be a relaxation spot for discerning guests.

Minimalist portraits of Skull Rock and Captain Hook with Smee adorn the walls, and a large porthole adjacent to the barbershop’s salon chairs provides views of the glittering ocean beyond.

During the day, wood paneling with a subtle rendering of Neverland completely conceals the shelves of bottles and ingredients. But when the paneling falls away, the front of the shop becomes a chic multi-purpose venue, with a tiny, cozy bar and prime seating for a handful of patrons.

Unlike larger lounges where guests tend to stick together, the intimate design of this hidden bar makes it easy to strike up conversations. It’s a meeting spot where conversing with other guests feels natural.

The people drawn to the speakeasy, too, are a great group; we met a whisky enthusiast from California who’s sailed on more than 50 Disney cruises, and a handsomely dressed couple from Pittsburg who frequent Dapper Day gatherings in Disney parks.

The bar’s hours vary depending on the day; on sea days, the bartender opens earlier (typically late afternoon), while on port and private island days, the bar opens later (5 p.m. or later). Ship-sanctioned bourbon and whiskey tasting events also typically take place in Hook’s Barbery; make sure to stop into the barbery or check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for details.

In addition to haircuts and shaves, the barbershop offers a host of services, including beard trims, teeth whitening and “Sailor’s First Cut” haircuts for young children. Prices range from $29 for a young child’s haircut to $239 for a package that includes an anti-aging shave, haircut, style and manicure-pedicure.

My son was overdue for a trim, and hairstylist Alem gave him a fun new look with patience and care. At the end of the appointment, she even presented him with a tiny pirate-style treasure box to take home with him. He loved the experience.

By the end of the sailing, Hook’s Barbery had become one of my favorite places aboard the ship. It’s a great place to get a haircut, and an even better “secret” spot to grab a drink.

When The Brady Bunch ended its five-season run in 1974, it wasn’t the end for the beloved sitcom’s characters. Series stars Robert Reed,Florence Henderson, Barry Williams, Maureen McCormick, and more reunited for variety shows, TV movies, specials, and spin-offs multiple times over the next two decades, reprising their roles as the Brady family members.

But one of the best reunions came on a Love Boat episode in the early 1980s when the Brady parents (Henderson, Reed) crossed paths on the Pacific Princess.

In The Love Boat Season 7 episode “Friend of the Family/Affair on Demand/Just Another Pretty Face,” Henderson played a character named Anita, while Reed was in a separate storyline playing a man named Jack. But in a cute crossover scene, the Brady Bunch co-stars ended up next to each other at the buffet table, where they did a knowing double take at one another in a clear nod to their past on the ABC sitcom. The Love Boat episode aired on Oct. 29, 1983, 14 years after Reed and Henderson first played newlyweds Mike and Carol Brady on The Brady Bunch.

The Brady parents returned to 'The Love Boat' four years later

The brief moment at the buffet wasn’t the only time Reed and Henderson shot a Love Boat scene together. In 1987, they made a cameo in the special “Who Killed Maxwell Thorn?” The star-studded 90-minute Love Boat murder-mystery aired on Feb. 27, 1987, and featured guest appearances from Happy Days stars Tom Bosley and Marion Ross, Gilligan’s Island’s Tina Louise, stars from Father Knows Best, Leave It to Beaver, and more.

In a quick cameo scene, Reed and Henderson, in character as Mike and Carol Brady, walked down a corridor on the ship as they talked about their kids. “Mike, it’s your day to watch the kids,” Henderson said, to which Reed replied, “Relax, Carol, they’re all grown up anyway.”

Other 'Brady Bunch' stars appeared on ‘The Love Boat.’

Henderson was a frequent guest star on The Love Boat. In an interview with the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, she recalled, “I did The Love Boat. I think Charo and I hold the record [for most guest appearances]."

Henderson cruised on The Love Boat 10 times between 1977 and 1987, while Reed was on board seven times. Brady Bunch daughter Maureen McCormick (Marcia) made five Love Boat appearances (she was married to Donny Osmond in one of them!), while Eve Plumb (Jan) logged three guest spots, and Christopher Knight (Peter) and Ann B. Davis (Alice) each appeared on The Love Boat once.

In her memoir Happiness Included, Plumb recalled guest-starring on The Love Boat and Fantasy Island, which were both on ABC. “The best part of being on those shows is that I didn't have to audition; it would be an invitation,” she shared, noting that producers always wanted to have recognizable TV or movie personalities as the guest stars.

“I know Florence Henderson and Robert Reed appeared in an episode of The Love Boat, actually playing Carol and Mike Brady,” Plumb added. “It was always a yes for me when my agent would call to see if I wanted to do one of the shows.”

One of the most iconic, instantly recognizable love songs from a movie is “(I’ve Had) the Time of My Life," sung by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes, from the 1987's Dirty Dancing. From the first note of the song and the opening lyrics "Now I've had the time of my life...," listeners are instantly catapulted to Johnny and Baby's memorable final dance scene. In fact, it's almost impossible to separate the 1987 song from the Dirty Dancing movie ending, which is one of the key reasons both are still widely beloved today.

In the final scene of Dirty Dancing, Johnny Castle (the late Patrick Swayze) and Frances "Baby" Houseman (Jennifer Grey) finally perform their well-practiced mambo to "(I've Had) the Time of My Life." It's one of the most romantic scenes on film. Swayze and Grey have intoxicating chemistry, and the epic ending symbolizes Baby's transformation from a shy, sheltered girl into a confident woman who know what she wants, and it concludes with that unforgettable triumphant lift. And so was born the love anthem of a generation.

First, the song's slow-rolling opening and the romantic lyrics build to the dramatic "And I owe it all to youuu." Then it quickly shifts into a high-energy pulse and crescendo and really hits the mark—for the dance, for the movie's end, for a classic song. “(I’ve Had) the Time of My Life" is sweet, uplifting, and ultimately a unabashed and celebratory love song.

“(I’ve Had) the Time of My Life” was released on July 10, 1987, as part of the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. Following the film's release on August 21, 1987, “(I’ve Had) the Time of My Life” the song was released as a single in September 1987, debuted on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 on September 26, 1987, and hit No. 1 on November 28, 1987. It stayed at the top for one week only but remained on the charts for a lively 21 weeks.

In 1988, songwriters Franke Previte, John DeNicola, and Donald Markowitz also won both the Golden Globe Award and Academy Award for Best Original Song, and the song won the 1989 Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.

“(I’ve Had) the Time of My Life” is a song for the ages too. It became a popular 1988 prom theme (I know because it was my high school's prom theme in 1988). It also started popping up as a first wedding dance song and at the karaoke lounges.

Even three decades later, this 2018 wedding video went viral when the bride (Ada) and groom (Mateusz) recreated the dance at their reception. To date, this wedding video, recorded by Polish videographer Beres Film, has more than 23 million views.

Nowadays the song in so many nostalgic romance moments. In fact, "the lift" is legendary in its pop culture phenomenon. There are endless parodies and recreations of the scene.

One of the most unforgettable recreations of the Dirty Dancing lift might be this one from the 2011 movie Crazy, Stupid, Love when Jacob Palmer (Ryan Gosling) admits to Hannah Weaver (Emma Stone) that he uses the scene as his "move" to get women to sleep with him. (Jump to 4:00 in the clip below):

Decades later, “(I’ve Had) the Time of My Life" can still stir people up emotions and fandom. Gen X'rs continue to pass down their love for the Dirty Dancing movie, giving it that cross-generational appeal. Don't believe us? Few things are more ominous in life than that of a natural disaster. Which is probably why movies like Twister give so may of us pause and stick with us long after we've left the theater.

Twister, the natural disaster movie directed by Jan de Bont was an international hit upon its release 30 years ago on May 10, 1996. The film grossed over $499 million worldwide upon release, making it the second-highest-grossing film of 1996, right behind Independence Day.

Twister was originally going to be directed by Steven Spielberg, who instead opted to produce the film through his production company, Amblin Entertainment. Directors James Cameron, John Badham, Tim Burton, and Robert Zemeckis were all in the running to helm the film before Jan de Bont came on. Michael Crichton and wife and co-author, Anne-Marie Martin, were attached to write the screenplay, inspired by storm chasers and the 1940 comedy, His Girl Friday.

Due to the film’s intensive sound design for all of the heightened weather occurring within it—eventually resulting in an Academy Award nomination—the audio was mastered at very high decibel levels to simulate the intensity of tornadoes. The excessive volume and low-frequency bass in the film’s mix were reported to have blown out and damaged speakers in several movie theaters during its initial theatrical release. Some theaters even claimed Warner Bros. instructed them to play the film at a certain high volume, resulting in the aforementioned damage.

Twister is an ensemble cast, disaster-action film following estranged storm chasers Jo and Bill Harding (played by Helen and Hunt Bill Paxton respectively), who reunite for one last tornado chase to deploy "Dorothy," an advanced weather-tracking device. They pursue deadly tornadoes all across the state of Oklahoma to improve warning systems, battling rival corporate scientists, while facing whether or not they want to reconcile their relationship.

The film was a massive commercial success beating out both The Craft and The Truth About Cats & Dogs at the box office for the number one spot on its opening weekend. While most critics commented on the generic plot of the film, the special effects and thrills were palpable and undeniable. Despite the theater sound issues, the film would generate two Academy Award nominations for Best Sound Design and Best Visual Effects.

30 years since its initial release, it's safe to safe that Twister is still a film worth watching and investing in. Just make sure to have ear plugs at the ready.

In 1982, Chicago perfected a formula for the power ballad, a guitar-driven emotional sound that fans embraced, but it came during a period of growing internal strain within the band.

After a series of chart-topping songs throughout the 1970s, the band faced a professional lull as the new decade approached. Their sound needed a shakeup, and David Foster was brought in to work his producing magic to lead Chicago in a new direction.

“Hard to Say I’m Sorry” was the result of a collaboration between Foster and Chicago's Peter Cetera. The tune, which would be known as one of the first power ballads of the era, cemented a new direction for the band, but not everyone was on board or included.

American Songwriter reported that the band’s legendary and powerful horn sound was becoming dated as the decade introduced a new type of synthesized music. Reportedly, Foster wanted the band to update their sound, or any songs they collaborated on wouldn’t make the new LP, Chicago 16.

The entertainment outlet noted that only Cetera as a vocalist and drummer, Danny Seraphine, were present on the recording of "Hard to Say I'm Sorry." Three members of the band Toto played on the record, with synthesizers by Steve Porcaro and David Paich, and Steve Lukather on guitar.

“Hard to Say I’m Sorry” was a monster, reaching the peak of Billboard’s Top 100 in September 1982. It remained at the top spot for two weeks and on the charts for almost six months.

In an interview with Songfacts, Chicago member Bill Champlin explained, "Foster would just as soon call the A players and bring them in, and I really don't blame him. Real major players that can get this stuff for you in a minute. They really eyeball with the producer once and give it to him on take one."

But the internal damage was done. Chicago was back at the top, for the first time since 1976’s “If You Leave Me Now,” but lost one of its founding members, Cetera, who departed shortly after the band’s equally successful follow-up, Chicago 17, in 1985.

Chicago 17 followed the same path as its predecessor, leaning into another successful collaboration with Foster before he, too, departed. The 1984 LP would sell over six million copies with four Cetera-sung singles cracking the Billboard Top 100, including “Stay the Night,” “Hard Habit to Break,” “Along Comes a Woman,” and “You’re the Inspiration.”

The DK Crush Float is a loaded float that’s themed after Donkey Kong. The over-the-top float starts with pineapple soda, which is a fun base for the ice cream treat. Then on top of the soda, there’s a waffle cone bowl filled with banana-pineapple soft serve. I love that the soft serve tastes like actual fruit instead of fake fruit flavors. The final touches to the float come with the fun toppings, which include sprinkles, crispy toffee pieces, and crunchy caramel popcorn. 

If you’re wondering how you’re going to drink the soda with the soft serve, Universal has thought of that, too. A straw is plunged through the ice cream and waffle cone bowl and into the soda so you can enjoy both at once. After a while, the waffle cone bowl does start to break down, so eat this one quickly.

If you reach the entrance of Mine Cart Madness, you’ve gone too far and need to walk back to get into the line for The Bubbly Barrel.

The DK Crush Float is $19 and comes with a souvenir cup and spoon. The cute cup looks just like one of the barrels from the Donkey Kong video games. The spoon is hard plastic with a picture of Donkey Kong on top. 

Pro-tip: If you don’t want to pay nearly $20 for ice cream, you can ask the Team Member (what Universal Orlando Resort calls its employees) to make your float without the souvenir cup. This lowers the price to $13, but you’ll still get the souvenir spoon.

Why is this my favorite snack at Universal Epic Universe?

With all the over-the-top treats themed around the five worlds of Epic Universe, I get asked all the time why the DK Crush Float is my favorite treat. The biggest reason is that I love ice cream treats in general, and all of the pieces of this float work together really well, especially the crunch from the toffee and caramel popcorn. But I also love that the float is a great sharing item, so you can get this and a while later, try another fun snack in another world (my runner-up is the Hunter’s Garlic Stake pretzel inside Dark Universe).

In 1985, two of the biggest names in music joined forces for a powerful duet. The song, “It’s Only Love,” was released by Bryan Adams and Tina Turnerin November 1985. Written by Adams and Jim Vallance, the song peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 on Jan. 18, 1986. The song was known for its driving guitar riff and the duo’s explosive vocals and was ultimately nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocal in 1986.

Ultimate Classic Rock ranked “It’s Only Love” one of the greatest rock duets of all time, noting that when Adams reached out to Turner, who was one of the biggest stars in the world at the time, about a collaboration, he was “unsure what kind of response he would get.”

Speaking with Classic Rock, Adams recalled, “I was such a Tina fan. …I got a message to her manager, asking if she’d have time to record this song for my album. And I got a call back saying Tina wanted to meet me. … She came over and said to me, ‘I love that song.’ She recorded it with us the next day.”

Bryan Adams couldn’t believe what happened during the recording session

Adams was blown away by his studio session with Turner. In an interview with Absolute Radio, he recalled, “I remember when she left the studio... I looked back into the control room, and I saw the engineers just sort of stood there, and I went in and said, 'I hope you got that on tape.’ And they all sort of looked at me and said, 'Yeah, we got it.'

“It was almost like a tornado had come through the studio and just blown everything apart,” he added per Songfacts. “It was one of the best moments for me ever recording, for sure."

Adams also expressed gratitude for getting the chance to collaborate with the “Private Dancer” legend. “It was such a privilege to have sung with her, especially since I was only 24 at the time,” he told Songfacts.

Adams’ friendship with Turner continued until her death in 2023. After "It's Only Love," he co-wrote and produced her Grammy Award-winning song, “Back Where You Started,” as well as “Why Must We Wait Until Tonight,” according to Variety.
