In a fan compiled list by IMDB, TV fans listed out their favorite TV moms of all time. At the top of the list was the incomparable, successful, and strong Clair Huxtable played by Phylicia Rashad from The Cosby Show.

Despite Bill Cosby originally wanting her to be a plumber in the show and having the couple be more "blue collar," Cosby's own wife, Camille, convinced him to mirror more of his own experience by writing two more traditionally successful, white collar parents at the helm of the family for the show.

Clair was "the exemplary good wife and mother" according to news outlets reviewing the program. She was "graceful but assertive, dignified but devoted" and "the smartest character in any given room." The character of Clair is often known as"the show's only main character to have been spared harsh criticism."

The Cosby Show ran from 1984 to 1992 and was an extremely popular American sitcom that aired on NBC for eight seasons and is often credited with reviving the sitcom genre. It focused on the upper-middle-class African-American Huxtable family, with the patriarch Obstetrician Cliff Huxtable (played by Cosby) and his wife, attorney Clair Huxtable (played by Rashad) living in Brooklyn, New York. The series centered on everyday family dynamics, parenting challenges, and approachable humor.

It's not just fans who have loved Clair over the years. Time, People, andSalon have all lauded the character for her writing and crowned her the "favorite" TV mom. Nancy Guthrie has been missing since Feb. 1, and with Mother’s Day upon us, her family is facing an especially difficult moment as questions surrounding her case remain unanswered.

Nancy's children—Savannah Guthrie, Annie Guthrie, and Camron Guthrie—are among those expected to feel the weight of the holiday, as Mother’s Day often brings added emotional strain for families navigating loss or uncertainty.

Parade reached out to licensed psychologist, certified healthcare ethics consultant, and founder of Shields Psychology & Consulting, PLLC in The Woodlands, Texas, Dr. Jenny Shields, who explained that holidays like Mother’s Day can intensify feelings of grief, uncertainty, and emotional strain for families who are missing a loved one or navigating unresolved loss.

"For many families, Mother’s Day is a joyful blur of brunch reservations, flowers, and handmade cards. But for others, the second Sunday in May is the heaviest day of the year," Dr. Shields says.

"The first Mother’s Day after a loss often carries a particular kind of pain. 'Firsts' in grief have a way of amplifying absence. The empty chair feels louder. The silence feels sharper. Celebration and sorrow collide in ways people rarely expect until they experience it themselves."

Dr. Shields also discussed how people can approach those who are grieving on Mother's Day.

"The goal is not to fix someone’s pain. It is simply to let them know they do not have to carry it alone," Dr. Shields explains. She says sending a message to acknowledge the grief and let the person know you're thinking about them can be a great way to approach this type of situation.

"'I know today may be especially hard without your mom. I’m thinking of you today and sending you love. No need to reply,'" Shields suggests as a text or even an email. Another option might be something like "'I know today might feel heavy and complicated. I just wanted you to know I’m thinking about you.'"

For the Guthrie family, they are dealing with many emotions due to the ongoing mystery surrounding Nancy's disappearance. Investigators believe that Nancy was abducted from her home in the middle of the night. What exactly happened, however, isn't clear.

"Koreatown’s dining scene is so dynamic because you can balance a quiet, soulful meal there with the high-energy night scene at Quarters KBBQ in the historic Chapman Plaza. It’s the perfect mix of classic flavors and modern, social dining." For the ultimate transportive night out, Merriweather points to Dan Sung Sa, describing it as "loud, a little chaotic and completely transportive... it feels like you stepped into Seoul at 1 a.m.. Amazing atmosphere."

If you’re looking for something with a bit more classic LA personality, Brass Monkey remains a local legend. For a more exclusive vibe, keep an eye on Club HUE, slated to bring a design-forward "members-club energy" to Chapman Plaza in June 2026.

Willie Nelsonwas only six months old when his mother walked out on him. And a few years later, his father did the same thing. So Willie and his big sister Bobbie moved in with William and Nancy Nelson—their paternal grandparents—in Abbott, Texas. Willie was so young, he would call them Mama and Daddy for the rest of his life. During this time, The Great Depression had ravaged the country and the Nelsons were dirt poor. There was barely enough food to go around, but what they had, they gave freely.

Daddy Nelson bought him his first guitar when he was six—along with a chord book he studied like scripture. By seven, most kids are learning how to write—but Willie? He was writing his own songs. "Mama and Daddy Nelson gave Bobbie and me two gifts that saved our lives," Willie would later say. "Love and music." But soon thereafter, heartbreak struck again when Willie's beloved grandfather died of pneumonia. A grief-stricken Willie sat down with his Stella guitar and started writing songs about what he was feeling.

By the time he was a teenager, Willie was playing his songs in rough honky-tonks across central Texas. After graduating from Abbott High School in 1950, he enlisted in the Air Force, but a bad back got him discharged after just nine months. So he came home, married a 16-year-old waitress named Martha Matthews, started a family, and continued making music.

What followed was decades of grinding—relocating multiple times to wherever he could find work. But in 1961, he sold a little song called "Crazy" to Patsy Cline and it became one of the most iconic country songs ever recorded. While he didn't get paid much for the song, he continued writing and touring.

Over the next few years, he wrote hits for artists like Faron Young and Roy Orbison. Nelson was finally making real money—but as a songwriter, not as a singer. Nashville thought his voice was too unusual and that his look was too rough to become a country star.

But on Dec. 23, 1969, his Tennessee house burned to the ground and Willie decided to move back to Texas. By 1972, he'd grown his hair long, started wearing a bandana and a beat-up t-shirt, and pioneered a sound called "outlaw country." Nashville suits told him that his 1975 album Red Headed Stranger was too weird to sell. Nelson was undeterred and it went platinum.

In the 50+ years since, Willie Nelson has released more than 140 studio albums, won 12 Grammy Awards and recorded 25 No. 1 country hits. He's been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Kennedy Center Honors. He co-founded Farm Aid, which has raised more than $90 million for American family farmers since 1985—and at 93 years old, Willie still personally signs the grant checks.

The band is tied with Pearl Jam for the second-most No. 1 albums in the chart’s history, behind only Linkin Park.

On Your Favorite Toy, many fans have zeroed in on “Of All People” for its raw sound. The track leans heavily into the gritty energy of the underground punk scene that exploded in Los Angeles during the 1980s, a sound that would later influence both grunge and bands like Nirvana and Foo Fighters themselves.

Half a century after England Dan & John Ford Coley had their first major hit with “I’d Really Love to See You Tonight," the soft rock duo is often remembered as a one-hit wonder...but in fact, the pair had four Top 10 singles in the same number of years, and it's another one of the act's chart-toppers that might be their most heartbreaking.

Released as the second single from their album Nights Are Forever, "Nights Are Forever Without You" didn't climb quite as high on the charts as "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight," which peaked at #1 on the US. Billboard Adult Contemporary Charts and #2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. "Nights Are Forever Without You" did, however, make it all the way to #10 on the Hot 100 and #6 on the Adult Contemporary Charts, according to Classic Rock History, and with good reason. Anybody who's ever spent a long, sleepless night missing someone they love can relate to these lyrics:

"Lying in bed with the radio on / Moonlight falls like rain / Soft summer nights spent thinking of you / When will I see you again?"

Written by Nashville songwriter Parker McGee, the song goes on to detail the heartache of lost romance:

"Thinking 'bout you / I didn't know it would be so strong / Waiting and wondering about you / I didn't know it would last so long / Nights are forever without you"

The sad, sentimental tune helped to solidify England Dan & John Ford Coley's status as '70s soft rock icons, with the pair telling the Los Angeles Times in 1979 that the popularity of "Nights Are Forever Without You" made them feel more secure in their success following the rapid rise of "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight."

Just a couple of years later, singer Buck Owens covered "Nights Are Forever Without You." His version was a country hit, peaking at #27 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in 1978.

"I thought I was probably going to go into law or construction, whichever job opportunity came up first. That, or a cowboy," he explained in a 2024 interview with InFocusVisions Music & Arts Magazine.

"So, when the music thing happened…I’ll tell you a story…the thing that really spurred me on," Coley continued. "We were playing in the band in high school and in college. So, I’m in college and I don’t have a piano up there. I’m not really practicing the way I should so when I came in for rehearsal the band told me I was about to be fired because I wasn’t progressing the way I needed to be. I was pretty upset by it."

"So, the next morning I’m going to school and I’m pretty upset," he recalled. "And, I’ve heard audible voices in my life three times. That was the first time. I dang near drove off the road it scared me so bad. I think I’m going crazy. What I heard was, 'I gave you the gift. What you do with the gift is up to you but if you don’t use the gift I will take it from you and I will give it to someone who will.' At that point I became excessively driven and very serious about music. It saved me from being a bag boy at a grocery store. I became very serious about it and I’ve continued to be ever since."

It’s been 32 years since Bruce Springsteen marked a rare break from his long-standing habits after making a surprising move that delighted fans.

On May 9, 1992, the music legend made his first-ever live TV performance, but it wasn't just another appearance.

Unlike other music icons who delved into acting and took on roles in movies, the singer-songwriter nicknamed “The Boss” rarely appears on screen, whether it's for TV or the big screen.

However, he broke his long-held reluctance when he made a special appearance on Saturday Night Live.

The show, known for its iconic live performances, invited Springsteen to take the stage. At this time, this was considered a major move since the singer had been avoiding high-profile media performances.

Interestingly, this time he finally said yes after turning down SNL’s invitation for 17 years.

In an episode hosted by Tom Hanks, the “Dancing in the Dark” hitmaker performed tracks from his albums Lucky Town and Human Touch, delivering live renditions of "Lucky Town," "57 Channels (And Nothin' On)" and "Living Proof.”

After his successful SNL debut, Springsteen returned to the show for three more appearances.

The second was in 2002, which marked the music icon’s first SNL appearance with his backing band, the E Street Band.

The episode, hosted by Matt Damon, stunned the viewers with the performance of "Lonesome Day" from his album The Rising.

Thirteen years later, Springsteen once again made an SNL comeback and performed "The Ties That Bind" and "Meet Me in the City.”

At the time, some viewers misinterpreted the crowd reaction, believing that the iconic rock star was being booed during his 2015 SNL performance.

In reality, the audience was chanting "Bruuuucccceee!”, a show of support that was later clarified by fans.

Apart from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, the episode, hosted by Saturday Night Live mainstays Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, also featured another music legend, who surprised audiences with a special performance from Beatles legend Paul McCartney.

He delivered his signature holiday encore of "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town.”

As for Springsteen’s last appearance on the long-running late-night show, he performed tracks from his album Letter to You in 2020.

Introduced by host Timothée Chalamet, the 76-year-old musician performed "Ghosts" and "I'll See You in My Dreams" with the E Street Band, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, bassist Garry Tallent and violinist Soozie Tyrell were absent.

Some of the most influential movies in history take years to come together. Taxi Driver was not one of them.

The 1976 psychological drama, directed by Martin Scorsese, was famously written in just 10 days by screenwriter Paul Schrader, yet it went on to become one of the most acclaimed films ever made. Decades later, the movie was included in British Film Institute’s Sight and Sound roundup of The Greatest Films of All Time.

Starring Robert De Niro as lonely Vietnam veteran Travis Bickle, Taxi Driver follows a mentally unraveling cab driver drifting through the crime-filled streets of 1970s New York City. Alienated, angry and increasingly unstable, Travis becomes consumed by violence and his warped desire to "clean up" the city around him.

The film's dark atmosphere and psychological intensity immediately set it apart from other movies of the era. Scorsese captured a grimy, decaying version of New York that felt deeply authentic, while De Niro delivered one of the most iconic performances of his career.

The screenplay itself has become legendary in Hollywood history. Schrader reportedly wrote the script during a deeply difficult period in his life, channeling feelings of isolation and obsession into Travis Bickle's character.

"I do not believe that New York, the city, create[s] people such as the protagonist of the film or the center of the film," said Schrader in a 1976 interview. "I hesitate to call him a hero. He's a man of a disintegrating self-destructive personality and he is not created by the city."

Despite being completed in little more than a week, the script would eventually become one of the most studied screenplays in film history.

"I read it, and the character and the precision and power of the prose was like poetry," Scorsese said in a 2012 interview. "It was so strong, the dialogue, the scene descriptions, but ultimately it was truthful and honest and had many feelings that I certainly identified with later on."

The movie also introduced one of cinema's most famous lines, "You talkin' to me?" improvised by De Niro during the film's mirror scene. The line has since become one of the most quoted in film history.

Upon release, Taxi Driver sparked both critical acclaim and controversy due to its violence and unsettling themes. Still, it quickly established itself as a landmark of American cinema and earned multiple Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture.

Nearly 50 years later, the film's influence can still be seen across movies, television and pop culture.

Its inclusion among Sight and Sound's ranking confirms what generations of movie fans already knew: Taxi Driver wasn't just a hit film, it became a defining cinematic masterpiece.

It’s been nearly four decades since The Judds released their classic country track, “Grandpa (Tell Me ‘Bout the Good Old Days),” but the song has proven to stand the test of time as it has been either covered or performed throughout the years by artists ranging from Cody Johnson to Ashley McBryde. 

And in the winter of 2025, sister country duo Tigirlily Gold, consisting of Kendra and Krista Slaubaugh, brought the beloved tune back, honoring the award-winning mother-daughter duo, made up of Wynonna and the late Naomi Judd, with their own remake of “Grandpa (Tell Me ‘Bout the Good Old Days).”

Onstage, the dynamic sibling duo delivered the lyrics with plenty of emotion, providing a chill-inducing take on the touching and nostalgic ode to grandparents that finds the singer talking to their elder family member with wishes to go back to simpler times.

The moment was all part of the OpryNextStage program, which showcases emerging country artists. With Kendra singing the verses and Krista offering both harmony and accompaniment on guitar, the conversational ballad made for a fitting opportunity for the duo and an unforgettable treat for the audience.  

Released in January of 1986, “Grandpa (Tell Me ‘Bout the Good Old Days)” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart on May 10, 1986, where it stayed for one week before being replaced by Hank Williams’ “Ain’t Misbehavin.”  

Written by Jamie O’Hara and released as the second single from 1985’s Rockin’ with the Rhythm, the track served as the sixth hit from the mother-daughter duo following tracks, “Have Mercy,” “Love Is Alive,” “Girls Night Out,” “Why Not Me,” and “Mama He’s Crazy.” 

“Grandpa (Tell Me ‘Bout the Good Old Days),” which also went No. 1 in Canada, has received several achievements. The song earned a Grammy in 1987 for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, with O’Hara taking home the trophy for Best Country Song. In 2022, Rolling Stone listed the song as one of The Judds’ most ‘Essential Songs.’

In 1973, a tender soft rock ballad about time, love and mortality took on an even deeper meaning after the sudden death of the man who wrote it.

"Time in a Bottle" by Jim Croce became a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 after the singer's tragic death, transforming the song into one of the most emotional and enduring classics of the 1970s.

Croce originally wrote the song after learning that his wife, Ingrid, was pregnant with their son. The lyrics reflect a desire to slow down time and hold onto life's most meaningful moments, themes that would later resonate even more powerfully with listeners.

At first, "Time in a Bottle" was not intended to be a major single. But everything changed in September 1973 when Croce died in a plane crash at just 30 years old.

The singer had been traveling following a concert in Louisiana when the small charter plane carrying him and several others crashed shortly after takeoff. Croce, along with guitarist Maury Muehleisen and four others, was killed in the accident.

In the wake of his death, fans turned back to his music, particularly "Time in a Bottle," thee reflective lyrics of which suddenly felt hauntingly prophetic. Radio stations began playing the song heavily, and it soon climbed the charts, eventually reaching No. 1.

"When he found out we were gonna have a child, he realized he was gonna have to do something about it. He sat down that night and wrote 'Time In A Bottle.' I really believe it's more about the immortality of life," said Croce's widow, Ingrid, in an interview with Classic Bands. "When he wrote something it usually wasn't one circumstance that spurred it on. It was a lot of different people and a lot of different circumstances that brought that song together which is why I think his music is so universal."

The success cemented Croce's legacy as one of the era's defining singer-songwriters. Known for hits like "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" and "Operator (That’s Not the Way It Feels)," Croce had a gift for combining vivid storytelling with emotional sincerity.

"This was a real person telling stories," said Croce's son, A.J. Croce, in 2024. "And I think that people are looking for real; they’re looking for music that isn't just manufactured to sell.”

More than 50 years later, "Time in a Bottle" remains one of the most beloved songs of the decade.

Its bittersweet beauty, and the tragedy surrounding its release, helped turn it into more than just a hit song. It became a lasting reminder of how fragile and precious time can be.

Billy Bob Thornton is getting candid about his mental health. During an appearance on the Howie Mandel Does Stuff podcast, the Landman star opened up on living with OCD and anxiety.

Thornton recalled to Mandel and Mandel's daughter, Jackelyn Shultz, a particularly vivid memory of how OCD first manifested for him during his childhood growing up with his late father.

He began, "It's well known that I have all these different things. I have a severe anxiety disorder as well as OCD, and I grew up dyslexic. When I was growing up, they didn't have programs, and it wasn't a thing, you know. They just thought you were an idiot at school. I grew up with it… my dad was not particularly nice to me. It was kind of tough around the house when I was a kid. He was in the service in the Korean War, and I think he had some problems."

"I had no idea what it was. I thought I invented it! I would do these things, and they say a lot of the time with OCD, it's someone who feels like their life is out of control, and it's a way that they can control something. I would do this thing. I knew what time he [Thornton's late father] got home from work. I would look at the clock...and when it would get, say, three minutes to four, when I would hear the car pull in the driveway around four o'clock usually, in my head I would say if I can count to a hundred five times before I hear the car come in the driveway, everything's gonna be okay," added Thornton.

The Boxmasters frontman also described an incredible moment shared with legendary singer-songwriter Warren Zevon. Zevon and Thornton once lived in the same West Hollywood apartment complex during the latter's early years as a young actor.

"This is in the late '80s, I guess," said Thornton. "I was standing at the mailbox to get my mail. Of course, in those days, I didn't get any mail. It's like a Ralph's flyer, or s—it like that. I opened the mailbox, [and] I pull[ed] out the Ralph's flyer. I put it back in, closed it, opened it again, [and] I pulled it out again. I did it three times. Well, Warren Zevon's standing next to me, and he's watching me. And he goes, 'You have it too, huh?'"

He added, "After that, Warren and I became friends, and we started discussing our OCD and our anxiety and all these different things. We used to compete with each other to see who had it worse."

Billy Bob Thornton has discussed his mental health diagnoses in previous interviews. In 2025, he told rock legend Ann Wilson of Heart on her After Dinner Thinks podcast about numerous conversations with one of his daughters regarding their shared mental health challenges.

"[We talk] about how these things are looked at by the public as detriments. But they're actually strengths, especially in the arts. If you check through history, you can't tell me Van Gogh and all those guys weren't on the spectrum," proclaimed the "Lost Highway" musician.

Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie's mom, Nancy Guthrie, 84, is still missing three months after her abduction in Tucson, Ariz.—and Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos gave a hopeful update as the investigation neared 100 days.

On Friday, May 8, Fox News Digital asked Nanos about the case, which still has no named suspect after Nancy went missing on Feb. 1.

"It's 100 days now, almost, sir," a reporter behind the camera pointed out. "Are you guys any closer to solving?"

To that, Nanos replied, "We are." As he nodded, the sheriff added that things were going "really great." 

However, Nanos did not answer when asked if he had a message for the Guthrie family for Mother's Day, which is Sunday, May 10.

Nancy was last seen at her Catalina Foothills residence on the evening of Jan. 31. Her family reported her missing the next day. Although the FBI released video clips and still images of a masked individual on Nancy's porch—not to mention that Savannah has offered a $1 million reward—no one has come forward with information leading to an arrest.

Recently, the FBI obtained DNA evidence, a hair sample, for processing. The PCSD County initially sent it to a private lab in Florida,but new technology could potentially crack the case. CeCe Moore, a genetic genealogist, told NewsNation’s Brian Entin that extraction of snip profiles from rootless hairs is now possible.

“Now we just have to hope that it is the person or persons—one of the persons—who kidnapped Nancy,” Moore said. “It’s again, kind of a Hail Mary. Everything is getting to that point, I feel, because so much time has gone by. But you just never know.”

Unfortunately, processing of the DNA evidence could still take months.
