Michael Jackson's Daughter Said She Owed Fans Nothing, Then Posted This for Father's Day
Less than a month ago, Paris Jackson told a podcast she was done performing grief for strangers.
Appearing on Jack Osbourne's Trying Not to Die in May, the 28-year-old daughter of Michael Jackson explained that she no longer felt obligated to publicly honor her late father on the dates fans expect. She'd watched people scrutinize her for years. Some even, she has said previously, telling her to end her life when she didn't post on her father's birthday. The pressure had become something she was actively stepping away from. 'I don't really feel like any of us owe anyone anything,' she told the show. 'And the way I express myself now, I don't want it to feel performative.'
Then Sunday arrived, and she shared something anyway.
On June 21, Paris shared a string of Instagramstories honoring Father's Day. The first image was a childhood throwback of herself kissing Michael Jackson, with the caption 'Happy Father's Day to some of the best dads I know. Spam incoming.' She followed it with roughly ten photos of men who have shaped her life, including her godfather, Macaulay Culkin, who has been close to the Jackson family since he and Michael became friends after Culkin appeared in the 1991 "Black and White" music video. Buffy the Vampire Slayer actor Seth Green was also among those she honored.

Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009, when Paris was 11. The anniversary of his death arrives Thursday. That timing, Father's Day days before the anniversary, has historically been the most scrutinized stretch of the calendar for how his children choose to publicly acknowledge him. Paris has been openly critical of that scrutiny. On the May podcast, she described the expectation to post as fans wanting her to 'basically mimic how a fan would express their love.' That's something she said she refused to do, because she actually knew him. The pressure, she made clear, had been cruel enough at times that she was no longer willing to let it dictate when or whether she shared anything.
Her Father's Day post did not seem to be made under obligation. It came from someone who had made a public case, just weeks earlier, for protecting her privacy on precisely this subject. She posted anyway, in her own way, on her own terms, folding her father into a broader celebration of the men in her life rather than making a moment focused on grief.
Paris also has her first-ever headlining tour, the Zombies Tour, launching in July. Her indie folk and alternative rock career has been carving out space entirely separate from her father's legacy, which makes the moments she does reach back feel especially deliberate. Sunday was one of those moments.
Steve-O Reflects on Sobriety, Fame and the End of ‘Jackass’ in New Playboy Interview
Steve-O is opening up about some of the most pivotal moments of his life.
In a candid new interview with Playboy, the longtime Jackass star, 52, reflected on everything from addiction and recovery to fame, financial struggles and why he believes the franchise that made him famous has finally reached its end.
The conversation arrives ahead of Jackass: Best and Last, which hits theaters on June 26 and serves as a farewell to one of the most outrageous franchises in entertainment history.
Steve-O Says 'Jackass' Is Finally OverWhile fans may continue hoping for another installment, Steve-O says the end of Jackass is already here.
"Oh yeah. Oh yeah. One hundred percent, it's the end," he told the iconic publication.
According to Steve-O, the turning point came during Jackass Forever when Johnny Knoxville suffered a serious injury after being hit by a bull.
"That was the final hit for Knoxville's head," he said. "If Knoxville is no longer willing to get hit in the head, you really can't do Jackass."
He explained that Jackass: Best and Last was created in part to give previously unreleased footage a place to live. Much of the material had never been shown publicly before.
"What made this movie happen was this lump sum of footage that had never been allowed to be shown anywhere," he said.
He Never Expected to Live Past 30One of the interview's most revealing moments came when Steve-O discussed his early obsession with filming everything he did.
Rather than seeing video cameras as a path to fame, he viewed them as a way to leave something behind.
"I looked at the video camera as my ticket to immortality," he said.
At the time, Steve-O assumed his reckless lifestyle would eventually catch up with him. He never imagined a long-term future and focused instead on documenting as much as possible.
"It wasn't about having a career," he said. "I thought I would be dead as f---."
Fame Arrived Long Before Financial SuccessDespite becoming one of MTV's most recognizable personalities, Steve-O says success didn't immediately translate into financial stability.
In fact, he revealed that he earned less than $1,500 during the entire first season of Jackass.
"I was broke, unemployed, and homeless, and a star on this big MTV show," he recalled.
The experience taught him an important lesson about celebrity.
"Fame comes a lot easier than fortune."
Sobriety Changed His View of the FutureSteve-O has been sober since 2008, and he described getting clean as one of the biggest adjustments of his life.
Without drugs and alcohol, he suddenly had to consider the possibility that he might live for decades longer than he once expected.
"All of a sudden I'm not killing myself with drugs and alcohol anymore," he said.
The transition also led him to confront personal struggles beyond substance abuse, including unhealthy patterns in relationships and his own behavior toward others.
Looking back, Steve-O said he realized those habits weren't leading him toward the happiness he was seeking.
He's No Longer Chasing AttentionPerhaps the most surprising revelation was Steve-O's description of his relationship with attention.
For someone who built a career on increasingly outrageous stunts, he says his priorities have shifted dramatically.
"It's really weird to say, and I've never said it before, but I think I'm at a point where I'm pretty comfortable not seeking attention," he told Playboy.
Today, Steve-O says he's focused on maintaining the life he's built, caring for animals and spending time on his Tennessee ranch.
For a performer who once viewed every stunt as a shot at immortality, the next chapter appears to be less about making headlines and more about finding peace away from them.

The Rock Reveals the Surprising Way He Transformed His Body for Disney Role
Actors routinely bulk up or slim down for movie roles, as fans well know.
That includes Dwayne Johnson, who has made headlines of late for slimming down remarkably for an upcoming film role. The WWE icon-turned-actor, 54, is known for showcasing his otherwise hulking physique in big-budget movies like Black Adam and Baywatch.
But in a new interview with E! News, The Rock opened up about what it took to look the part of Maui in Disney's highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Moana, hitting theaters July 10. Surprisingly, the end result required 40 pounds worth of special effects.
"It was a suit, and it was crazy because I went from [the film] Smashing Machine, and I was 50 pounds heavier than I am now. From Smashing Machine, I went directly on set [of Moana], so I had no time to change my body," Johnson exclusively told E! News. "We were considering me just stepping on set how I looked in the Smashing Machine, but the body was just intensely different.
The Jumanji star continued, "We are the keepers of integrity, but also the fans are keepers of integrity, and if I stepped on set looking like how I looked, they would have had a complete organ rejection. We went with this amazing suit [made by] Joel Harlow, who's an Academy Award-winner... It also worked out great because of visual effects, because the tattoos are alive. So it was easier for [the visual effects team] and a better treat for audiences to see it on the suit."
Earlier this month, Johnson made headlines when he opened up about a recent health scare. In the interview with Esquire, the Golden Globe nominee said he found a lump in one of his testicles that was “really painful.” He went to the doctor and had it checked out, and had to wait 24 hours until the test results came back. He didn't even tell his wife during that time. Luckily, the results ultimately showed that he didn't have cancer.

Shields will be taking over for previous host Ginger Zee. The show returns for Season 8 on Saturday, July 11. She currently stars in the Acorn TV series You’re Killing Me and returned to Hallmark Channel’s When Calls the Heart. She is also the founder and CEO of Commence.
Gen X Icons 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Opens First-Ever Pizzeria, but Not at ’90s Prices
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pizzeria has lifted the lid on its first-ever official establishment in Santa Monica, California. On opening weekend, lines of TMNTfans of all ages went around the block of the Third Street Promenade, the outdoor tourist-heavy retail destination just off the West Coast.

The TMNT Universe Spans Eras for Hungry FansWhen the 80's comic book series broke into the mainstream with theTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series and eventual live-action movies, scores of fans from Gen X to Gen Alpha have grown up with the crime-fighting brothers with a love for pizza. Since their debut, there have been more animated shows, video games, comics, more live-action movies, and the recent hit animated film blockbuster franchise. So it makes sense to have seen fans raised on the 80s hit, including multi-generational families with toddlers, lining up last weekend for the opening.
View this post on InstagramThe Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pizzeria is the franchise's first official immersive restaurant collaboration between Paramount and Andy Nguyen, the fandom foodie destination builder whose other themed cafe concepts are inspired by Hello Kitty and Sonic the Hedgehog. Nguyen told The Hollywood Reporterthat the TMNT concept was a long-time "dream project," noting that he drew on his nostalgia for the animated series and the role pizza played in it. "Those original cartoons, the way they were drawn, there’s a sense of fun that just brings you happiness."
The establishment captures that early '90s peak TMNT cartoon vibe with arcade games, exclusive streetwear, and toy collectibles. In an Instagram reel, comedy content creator and animation voice actor, Jenny Lorenzo (Jellystone!) shared, "The pizza, mocktails, merch, decor...all of it was awesome."
View this post on Instagram Expect to Pay for an Experience, Not Just a SliceYes, there is online outrage that a whole pizza can cost from $39 for the Cowabunga cheese and up to $54 for a specialty like Rocksteady's Meat Smash. That's definitely going to leave some fans shell-shocked, but considering the immersive retro locale sits in a major LA tourist destination and offers slices that range from $6.50 to $9, the math begins to make more sense.
Over Father's Day weekend, this writer's TMNT fan husband was treated to a trip, and it's absolutely dad-approved. The hubs got a slice of Raphael's Pepperoni Bash (cost $7.50), which folded perfectly into an NY-style slice when pulled, and a fountain Coke. I particularly enjoyed the Mutagen Mushroom (cost $8.50), which was cheesy with the right amount of umami mixed with ricotta and topped with a zesty lemon cream. Washed it down with an Orange Bandana Margarita (cost $16), which packed a powerful punch. The total spent on food wasn't that bad, but as nerds, the merch haul got our wallets.
Food critics have been raving about the pizza, including L.A. Taco, whose writer called it a "serious New York slice" in a positive review, noting, "Take it from a California-raised food writer who did ten years in NYC, these slices slaughter the competition like a sai to Shredder's face."
Related: Little Caesars' New 'Webbed Pizza' Comes With Something Special for Spider-Man Fans
Nguyen affirmed the establishment is not meant to be a gimmick. "This place can’t just look cool. The food is the surprise element. It’s good. We know we need to beat expectations. Otherwise, fans crush you,” he told THR, and to that end, he worked with Angelo Womack of Brooklyn pizzeria Roberta's fame to make the pizza as wow-worthy as the TMNT experience itself.
Together, they sought a way to get their pies as close to NY slice standards as possible, even tinkering with the local water pH to match Manhattan's. But not to expect something like basil leaves on pies, as Womack told THR he "couldn’t see Donatello eating," inspiring clever ways to add flavor like basil by drizzling olive oil with it to emulate TCRI ooze on creamy stracciatella, so it glows. You know, old-school tricking kids (and adults) into eating something good they'll like if it's packaged in a fun way.
View this post on InstagramLA-based lifestyle content creator @ErikaEnchanted shared on Instagram, "Getting that perfect balance of theming, atmosphere, and actually great pizza is what makes this place worth fighting traffic on the 10 FWY," The nostalgia, along with good word-of-mouth among pizza experts and pop culture fans in LA, plus tourist curiosity and all-around love for Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo, and Raphael, will bring out fans of all ages to Santa Monica this summer for Turtle Powered Pizza.
1995 Alternative Rock Hit Never Reached No. 1—But Became England’s Unofficial World Cup Anthem
Oasis' beloved smash "Wonderwall" has earned itself the title of England's unofficial 2026 FIFA World Cup anthem — and Noel Gallagheris on board.
Last week, devoted England fans sang the song in the stands following the team's 4-2 victory over Croatia, much to the delight of an emotional team. On the pitch, players sang along and looked on in awe as the crowd showed their appreciation for their team with the 1995 Britpop hit.
Recalling the heartfelt moment, England captain Harry Kane said that it was one of his "favorite ever moments in an England shirt, especially at a major tournament."
"It’s the emotional connection with the fans, we know how much it means to them," he noted, per the BBC. "They see how much it means to us. We have that connection right now."
Midfielder Declan Rice called it a special moment: "On the pitch after the game and we were just connecting with the fans, and they were singing. That was special. Being in Dallas, singing 'Wonderwall'. There’s nothing like that first time.”
What a moment! 😍

Noel has voiced his support for the fan-favorite track becoming England's World Cup anthem.
"Wonderwall belongs to the people, and it was a magical moment between the people and the players," he told The Sun. "Best of luck to everyone who’s made the trip out there."
According to Metro.co.uk, each country in the World Cup submit a playlist of songs to the stadium, to be played before and after a game. As well as "Wonderwall," England's playlist includes other timeless classics such as "Hey Jude" by The Beatles and Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline."
Formed in 1991 by brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, "Wonderwall" became one of the Mancunian band's most iconic tracks, despite never reaching No. 1 on the main singles charts. The song narrowly missed out on the top spot in the U.K., peaking at No. 2 on the Singles Chart, and in the U.S., it hit No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100.

1970 Tony Orlando and Dawn Smash Named One of Their Most Popular Songs of All Time by Fans
More than five decades after it first hit the airwaves, one Tony Orlando and Dawn classic is still striking a chord with fans. The 1970 smash has not only stood the test of time, but is now ranked as one of the group's most listened to songs, proving its feel-good appeal has never really faded.
According to user airplay at Last.fm, "Candida" is the second-most played Tony Orlando and Dawn song after "Knock Three Times." It remains one of the group's signature hits and a favorite among fans more than five decades after its release.
Rounding out the top four are "Tie a Yellow Ribbon 'Round the Old Oak Tree," followed by "He Don't Love You (Like I Love You)."
According to Billboard, "Candida" ranked at No. 3 in 1970. It was the group's first single, but was billed as Dawn. According to American Songwriter, at the time of the song's release, Orlando was working as an executive for Columbia Records and his identity was purposely kept hidden.

Irwin Levine and Toni Wine wrote “Candida,” and a demo was recorded, but the song's producers, Dave Appell and Hank Medress, wanted a different sound vocally, so they called Orlando to fill in. The song, released on Bell Records, directly competed with Orlando's work at Columbia.
Therefore, Orlando asked that his name not appear on the recording. The website wrote, "After the follow-up single, 'Knock Three Times,' scored big as well, Orlando finally accepted that he had a lucrative singing career in front of him."
After two hits in a row, Orlando stepped down from his role at Columbia and devoted himself to his recording career. The band was renamed Tony Orlando and Dawn, and he soon became a household name alongside Joyce Vincent Wilson and Telma Hopkins.
The band's chart success led to a 1970s variety television show, which gave the singing group even more national exposure. It aired from 1974 through 1976 and was originally titled The Tony Orlando and Dawn Show, but was later renamed The Tony Orlando and Dawn Rainbow Hour for its final season.

'90s Rock Band Is Suddenly Climbing the Charts 17 Years After No. 1 Hit
More than 30 years after it first changed the course of hard rock, Dirt is climbing the charts once again.
Alice in Chains' landmark 1992 album has re-entered Billboard’s Hard Rock Albums chart, landing at No. 25 in the latest rankings. The surprise resurgence is the latest reminder that one of grunge's defining records continues to resonate with both longtime fans and a new generation of listeners.
The renewed chart success adds another chapter to the album's remarkable legacy.
Upon its original release, Dirt peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and became Alice in Chains' most commercially successful studio album. Featuring enduring songs including "Would?," "Rooster," "Them Bones," "Down in a Hole" and "Angry Chair," the record established the Seattle quartet as one of the most important rock bands of the 1990s.
By that point, Alice in Chains had already emerged as one of the leading voices of the Seattle music scene. Formed in 1987 by guitarist Jerry Cantrell and drummer Sean Kinney, the band found early success with its debut album, Facelift, propelled by the breakthrough single "Man in the Box." Alongside Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, Alice in Chains became part of the "Big Four" of grunge, though its heavier sound often blurred the line between alternative rock and heavy metal.
"We all play rock music, so there is some similarity," Cantrell told Rolling Stone in 1992. "But the bands are different. Ours is a little more brooding and introspective. Pearl Jam is a soul that's full of life and invigorating, and Nirvana is kind of beautifully dysfunctional…. These are just words I'm pulling off the top of my head. Even if I can't put my finger on it, there's an individual identity to the bands."
Dirt elevated the band to another level. Built around the haunting vocal interplay between Layne Staley and Cantrell, the album explored addiction, loss, trauma and survival with an honesty that set it apart from many of its contemporaries. Over the years, critics have consistently ranked it among the greatest hard rock and grunge albums ever recorded, while its influence can still be heard in countless rock and metal bands that followed.
"It's 30 years (later) and we are still talking about a record that four guys from the Northwest made back in 1992, and that's pretty cool," Cantrell told Billboard in 2022. "As an artist, that’s what the ultimate goal is—to create something that lasts and gets handed down through generations of listeners. It's not for everybody, but it has a way of finding its people."
The band's success continued after Dirt. In 1994, Alice in Chains made Billboard history when Jar of Flies became the first EP ever to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, further cementing the group's place among the era’s biggest rock acts.
"We were lucky that when we got a bunch of money to do our first major label deal, we insisted on control, of what we released as singles or how we made albums with no interference from the label —which was rare, then," Kinney told Variety. "We didn't really have A&R. We'd hear input from them, sure, and how dumb we were at times, but more often than not, our mistakes worked. Every time they told us we were veering toward 'career suicide,' we had to remind them that we didn’t have a career. We were only on our first albums."
More than three decades after its release, Dirt remains the album most closely associated with Alice in Chains. Its return to the Billboard charts is more than a nostalgic milestone, it's proof that one of rock's most powerful and uncompromising albums continues to find new life with each passing generation.

Don't Miss the 17-Year-Old Whose Adorable Dog Act Completely Wins Over the 'America's Got Talent' Judges' Hearts
It’s no secret that Simon Cowell is a dog lover. So when Olivia Befus walked out onto the America’s Got Talent stage holding on to a cute little dog named Zeke, he was all smiles, but so were judges Mel B, Sofia Vergara and Howie Mandel, also fans.
It was Sofia who had the chance to chat with the 17-year-old from Midland, MI, who has had Zeke for three-and-a-half years.
“I’ve absolutely always loved animals,” Olivia said. “Any animal I could get my hands on. Ever since I was about six, I’ve had Guinea pigs, birds, bearded dragons, absolutely everything. Our house is a little bit of a zoo.”
Olivia and Zeke then performed a series of tricks with Zeke showing he had all the right moves to “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter, and halfway through, Zeke ran offstage and Olivia was joined by a second dog, Phoenix, and the act continued.
“Olivia, you’re so young and so good,” Sofia told her. “[Phoenix] was a nice surprise. Have you taught yourself to do all this?”
The surprising answer from Olivia is that she learned how to train dogs from watching AGT.
“Well, you did a great job,” Sofia said.
“I think that’s the most inspiring spot in the world,” Howie said, pointing to the AGT stage. “And the fact that you’re inspired, and then you come here, and you inspire millions more to do what they see here. That was beautiful.”
Mel B shared, “What I like about this act is that the dogs are clearly really enjoying themselves. You’ve trained them with so much love and so much care, and that melts my heart, so thank you.”

Then Simon queried Olivia on what breed Phoenix was.
Olivia responded that he was a Border Collie and whippet mix. Simon said, “Those are not easy dogs to train.”
“He’s one of my smartest dogs, and, honestly, I think it’s just because of our bond,” Olivia said. “He follows me around doing everything with me.”
No surprise, Oliva got four yeses from the judges with Simon adding, “I think you actually have a real gift for this."
America’s Got Talent airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. Streams next day on Peacock.
Hannah Brown Opens Up About the Unexpected Challenge She Faced During Her First Year of Marriage
In the last year, former Bachelorette Hannah Brown has gotten married, started a massive home renovation and is releasing her third fiction novel, Reasons to Be Loved by You. Just a casual amount of major life moments.
The reality star and bestselling author, who married Adam Woolard last year in France, explained to Parade that her first year as a wife has coincided with a major home renovation project that has temporarily turned the couple into "nomads."
"It's been great. I love being married," Brown said. "I will say, we recently just ripped out everything in our home, and going through a home renovation in the first year of marriage is probably not the easiest thing to do together."
The 30-year-old explained that what started as a relatively small renovation quickly snowballed into something much larger.
"I thought we were doing a mini reno, but it just starts to snowball," she said. "Now we're out of our house for seven months."

Brown and Woolard purchased a 120-year-old home in Nashville and hoped to make the historic property feel more like their own. Along the way, they discovered mold and found themselves making countless design decisions, from choosing finishes to selecting materials.
"It's been really fun, but also stressful," Brown admitted. "It's a big investment. It's a lot of time to be away from your home while people are in there, and you're just hoping it all turns out the way that you hope it will."
Despite the challenges, Brown says the experience has ultimately strengthened their relationship.
"We're asking friends, 'Hey, are you going on vacation? Do you need somebody to house-sit? We'll come over,'" she joked. "But then I'm so glad that I'm doing it with him."
The couple's living situation has also impacted their timeline for starting a family. Brown recently opened up about undergoing surgery to correct a rare condition called bicorporeal septate uterus. Basically, she explained, the condition created a "wall" of sorts within her uterus, increasing her risk of miscarriage.
While she and Woolard have begun the family-planning process, Brown says they're not rushing into parenthood just yet.
"People keep asking, 'Have you started trying?'" she said with a laugh. "I want us to be a little settled before then."
Brown added that she's grateful she discovered the condition before trying to conceive and hopes sharing her experience encourages other women to advocate for themselves medically.

"I was very lucky to find that before we started," she said. "I hope more women will advocate to get the proper ultrasounds and imaging so they don't have to go through unnecessary hurt."
As for marriage itself, Brown says she understands why so many people describe it as different from dating, even in a healthy relationship.
"There's just something more connecting about taking that covenant," she explained. "Saying your vows to each other and being tied to each other as husband and wife. There's a little bit more security in that."
Between promoting a new book, navigating a seven-month renovation and thinking ahead to future family plans, Brown has plenty on her plate. But if the past year has taught her anything, it's that the challenges are easier when you have the right person by your side.
Brown's book, Reasons to Be Loved By You, is available for sale now.
After Months Out of the Spotlight, Tiger Woods Makes a Head-Turning Appearance
Tiger Woods is back in the spotlight and looking better than ever.
The golf icon, 50, who returned from rehab on May 15 following his rollover car crash, took to the podium to introduce PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp before Rolapp’s press conference announcing major changes to the Tour’s competitive structure, Yahoo reported. Woods, who is a member of the PGA Tour’s policy board, got people talking with his dramatic change for other public appearances this year. Ditching his typical golf clothing, Woods looked dapper in a gray suit. However, it was his upbeat demeanor and broad smile that really got people talking. To see Woods all smiles during the press conference, watch the video of his speech below:

"This is an exciting moment for the game of golf. It has been a privilege to lead the Future Competition Committee, and I am proud of the work we have done to build the best version of the PGA TOUR for future generations of players and fans," said the athlete.

On April 1, Woods got the permission of a Florida judge to leave the United States to seek treatment following his car accident and arrest for DUI. He was granted permission to leave Florida, according to court documents obtained and reviewed by PEOPLE. According to the documents, the athlete’s physician made the recommendation that he leave the country “based upon the Defendant’s complex clinical presentation, the urgent need for a level of care that cannot safely or effectively be done within the United States.”
The recommendation that Woods seek treatment out of the U.S. was also based on the idea that his “privacy has been repeatedly compromised.”
“Ongoing medical scrutiny and public exposure create significant barriers to his care and would result in setbacks and an inability to fully engage in treatment,” Woods’ lawyer, Douglas Duncan, argued in the filing, the piece continued.
Woods returned from rehab in Switzerland on May 15 and was photographed stepping off his Gulfstream G550 at Palm Beach International Airport in Florida, TMZ.com reported. Wearing gray shorts, a black jacket, and a black hat, the athlete was joined by two pups on the tarmac.

On March 27, Woods was involved in a rollover car crash when his Land Rover rolled over after he “overtook” a pressure-cleaning truck that was pulling a small trailer, Sheriff John M. Budensiek said in a press conference, PEOPLE noted.
Police administered a breathalyzer test on the scene, and Woods “blew triple zeros.” However, he refused to submit to a urinalysis at the jail. According to the police affidavit obtained by PEOPLE, Martin County Sheriff’s Office deputies allegedly found two hydrocodone pills in his left pants pocket.

1984 Rock Track, Inspired by a Speeding Ticket, Became a Classic Rebellion Anthem
Some of the most memorable songs have an interesting backstory to match, with Sammy Hagar's "I Can't Drive 55" having a clear inspiration behind it. The hard rock track became a staple in the genre after the Van Halen member had a run-in with police on the highway.
Released as the lead single and first track of his eighth studio album, VOA, in 1984, Hagar had a love for fast cars thanks to his mechanic Claudio Zampoli. He was the one who got Hagar his first new Ferrari and introduced him to Eddie Van Halen. Hagar's love for driving over the speed limit soon led him to get stopped by police for speeding, inspiring the rage-fueled "I Can't Drive 55."
While driving in New York outside Albany, the rocker was driving at 62 mph on the Northway, which had a set 55 mph speed limit. The speed limit was the result of a law that was passed in 1974, the National Maximum Speed Law.
"Two o'clock in the morning, I'm driving a rental car to Albany, from Albany to Lake Placid. Four-lane Highway, not a soul, I'm going about 62 miles an hour exactly. Cop pulls me, a little wet I didn't even know while I was going the speed limit changed. I'm sitting there, I was so burnt, I was just exhausted," he said in an interview with Professor of Rock.
"I just handed my driver's license, hand him the Rent-A-Car stuff. He starts to write it up and the guy said how fast is 62. I said like 'I thought it was 65', you know, and he's going […] 'We give tickets around here for 62!'. You know like ‘Where have you been?’. I went 55, get to my house, wrote the song. Oh man, I mean, four o'clock in the morning. I picked up my guitar. I just wrote that damn song. It came that quick."
"I Can't Drive 55" would become a rock anthem that landed at No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart after its release. It also landed at No. 9 on the Top Rock Tracks. Many fans also see it as a rebellion anthem as Hagar's lyrics protest the US national speed limit after getting pulled over. The rocker even once recalled wanting to meet up with the officer who gave him the ticket.
The track also gained popularity thanks to its music video, which was on heavy rotation during the early start of MTV. It featured Hagar's real Ferrari 512 BBi, which he drives in the opening of the music video before he and the band get jailed for traffic violations. Zampolli also appears as himself, tuning up the car. Reports claim that Hagar ended up burning his clutch during filming, which led to a $5,800 repair.
Hagar's track became a concert staple during his time with Van Halen, and for TV and car commercials. It's even heard during the 1989 film Back to the Future Part II.
Before the 'Queen of Country' Was Famous, Her Family Already Had a Country Hitmaker
Most country music fans know Reba McEntire as one of the genre's biggest stars.
But long before she became a household name, another member of the McEntire family was already chasing success in Nashville.
On June 23, 1953, Pake McEntire was born in Chockie, Oklahoma. The oldest sibling of Reba, 71, and Susie Luchsinger, Pake, 72, carved out his own place in country music history, even if his career never reached the same heights as his famous younger sister's.
Like Reba, Pake grew up in a musical family. The McEntire siblings were raised on an Oklahoma ranch, where music was a regular part of life. Their mother, Jacqueline McEntire, encouraged all of her children to sing, and the family often performed together at local events and rodeos.
While Reba would eventually become one of country music's most successful artists, Pake found his own moment in the spotlight during the 1980s.
His biggest success came in 1986 with the single "Savin' My Love for You." The heartfelt country ballad connected with listeners and climbed all the way to No. 3 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart, becoming the highest-charting hit of his career.
For a time, it appeared Pake might become a major country star in his own right.
Throughout the decade, he released several charting singles and built a loyal following among traditional country fans. Although he never achieved the crossover fame that would make Reba a global superstar, his success demonstrated that musical talent ran deep within the McEntire family.
Today, Reba's accomplishments often overshadow those of her siblings. With dozens of No. 1 hits, multiple Grammy Awards, television success and a career spanning nearly five decades, she has become one of country music's most recognizable figures.
Still, Pake's contributions to the genre remain an important chapter in the McEntire family story.
‘I’m an Oncologist—This Is the First Symptom I Wish People Would Stop Googling and Actually See a Doctor About'
With access to virtually any piece of information you could ever want or need, it’s easy to “Google” when you have a concerning health symptom. And it’s something that a lot of us do. According to one 2026 poll, 68% of people have turned to a search engine seeking medical information within the last year.
And AI is becoming increasingly popular as a source for health info—as Gallup reports, 59% of those who use AI are researching conditions before a doctor’s appointment, and 14 million adults skip seeing a provider altogether after using AI.
Cancer is undoubtedly a popular term to search for when it comes to health concerns. As oncologist Dr. Adeel Khan, MD, MPH, MS, an academic hemoncologist and epidemiologist in Dallas, Texas, says, there are few words scarier in the English language than the big “C” word. As Becker’s Hospital Review shares, cancer is the second-most searched for health-related term, right behind diabetes.
“As cancer incidence broadly increases over the decades, the lifetime risk of having a cancer diagnosis is roughly 1 in 3 in the United States,” he tells Parade. “And since cancers are so diverse and can have such wide-ranging presentations, some of which are subtle, it’s not a surprise that patients turn to Google or AI, which are convenient, available, and essentially free sources of information.”
Although the internet proves to be powerful when it comes to learning about your health, it can be detrimental when it comes to conditions, like cancer, that require a closer look and a doctor’s diagnosis.
“The downside to Googling and AI is that, while these are valuable tools for general information and general perspective, relying on them for specific symptoms may be misleading or entirely miss the mark,” Dr. Khan cautions. “These tools are vast and increasingly successful in medicine by processing massive amounts of data; however, the gold standard for now remains a qualified physician to properly assess a patient with modern diagnostics.”
'I'm an Oncologist—This Is the First Symptom I Wish People Would Stop Googling'Dr. Khan says that the top symptom he wishes people would stop Googling and visit a doctor about is unexplained weight loss, and this does not refer to those people intentionally trying to lose weight through diet, exercise or a GLP-1 drug.
Instead, Dr. Khan says that this applies to people who are inexplicably dropping pounds—"5-10% of their body weight in six months is a usual clinical benchmark,” he explains.
Dr. Khan calls this “an insidious issue that warrants a work-up and can have numerous causes.”
“By some data, patients who met this mark of unintentional weight loss were diagnosed with a cancerous lesion roughly 5% of the time,” he tells Parade.

Other Symptoms You Shouldn’t Google or IgnoreClose the Google tab and make an appointment with your doctor if you’re experiencing these other concerning symptoms, as Dr. Khan details:
- Painless, hard lumps, whether in the breast or lymph nodes
- Abnormal, new moles or evolution in existing moles
- Unexplained, profound fatigue
- Night sweats (specifically drenching night sweats)
- Bleeding in the stool, urine, phlegm or post-menopausal vaginal bleeding
“I find it perfectly fine and in fact encourage patients to seek information online, but when this delays or even replaces a professional clinical evaluation, I worry,” he says.
Related: Oncologists Are Begging People To Take This One Common Cancer Risk Factor Seriously
Final WordIf you’re on the fence about seeing your doctor and are tempted to rely on Google or AI instead, Dr. Khan emphasizes the importance of thinking again, especially if you’re dealing with unusual symptoms.
“Importantly, if ever more than one of these symptoms is present simultaneously, please seek an evaluation from a medical professional,” Dr. Khan says. “For instance, a once-healthy patient who begins to experience unexplained weight loss along with painless, hard lymph nodes and profound fatigue would be at high risk of a blood cancer and would require evaluation.”

'Not Suitable for Work' Cast Reveal Their Dream Guest Stars (Exclusive)
The new Hulu series Not Suitable for Work kicked off on June 2, following five young professionals through Manhattan’s post-college working world. Created by Mindy Kaling, starring in the show are Ella Hunt, Avantika, Will Angus, Jack Martin and Nicholas Duvernay. Also included are notable actors such as Constance Wu, Victor Garber and Harry Richardson.
At the show’s premiere, cast members dished out some of their favorite work comedies, dos and don’ts in the workplace, as well as guest stars they’d love to work with on a potential Season 2.
“I want to see Pedro Pascalon this set," says Hunt, who plays AJ. "I'd love my bestie, Daisy Edgar-Jones, to turn up."
She continued on, sharing her thoughts on dating coworkers, a theme highly suggested by the trailer of Season 1. “Not suitable, but if it happens, just do it consciously.”
On the same topic, Ellis, who plays Bill, had a different response. “If it's meant to be, it's suitable.”
Executive Producer Charlie Grandy said his “big three” of work comedy television shows are Cheers, The Office and 30 Rock. Grandy is well known for his work on Saturday Night Live and The Office, where he originally met Kaling. While Kaling starred in The Office, she was also producing and writing behind the scenes. She and Grandy have done extensive work together over the years on shows such as Velma, The Mindy Project, Champions, and, now, Not Suitable for Work.

In talking with Kaling, she mentioned how The Office has helped her in other projects. “That’s where I was trained to write sitcoms. That’s where I learned joke per page, how to three-dimensionalize characters, how to write longing and poignancy while also having a very funny show.”
On the topic of dream guest stars, Avantika, who plays Abby, noted, “It would be really cool to get Lena Dunham on the show." The Mean Girls star even mentioned that Girls was a huge influence when filming Not Suitable for Work.
When asked about the period of life covered by the show, Kaling shared a thoughtful recollection of her early work experience.
“I can remember this period of my life from when I graduated from college until I got hired at The Office vividly. It was such an extreme of emotions. It was exciting to move to the city. I arrived feeling very entitled and confident, and just got the s—t kicked out of me and my confidence in terms of finding a job, and yet my friendships with my best friends were kind of what got me through.”
Kaling believes that whether you're facing the struggles of young work-life, relationship drama, or are simply looking for a good laugh, Not Suitable for Work is the fit for you.
