‘Below Deck’ Fans Debate If Josef Is the Worst Guest Ever — But Nathan Is the Real Concern

Tue, 06/23/2026 - 7:41am

Below Deck has hosted several challenging guests, but fans are pretty convinced that Johnny and Michelle Damon's friend Josef may be at the top of the "worst" list.

The Damons returned to Below Deck Mediterranean, and Josef seemed unhappy with another charter guest even before they set foot on the boat. But it wasn't just the charter guest who set Josef off. He also growled at Bosun Nathan Gallagher on more than one occasion when Nathan made Josef's safety a priority. Feeling frustrated with Josef's reaction, Nathan admitted to wanting to get in Josef's face over his behavior.

Thankfully, Captain Sandy Yawn talked Nathan down, explaining that the best way to diffuse a situation like this is with calm and to avoid allowing feelings to take hold. And while Nathan embraced what Captain Sandy told him, Josef found his way to the bridge, where Nathan was on anchor watch, and he was looking for a fight.

Nathan joked, “I’m about to get fired,” because he seemingly won’t be able to hold back. Now, Below Deck fans are hoping he keeps Captain Sandy’s advice front and center so the exchange doesn’t go nuclear.

In one Below DeckInstagram thread, some fans agreed with Nathan. "Poor Nathan. I wouldve said " Guess Im getting fired " too LMAO," one person wrote. Others were here for Nathan to hold it together. "Keep your cool Nathan!!" another person added.

"I PRAY Nathan doesn’t loose his s—t on Josef and doesn’t get fired," one person wrote on Bravo's Below DeckInstagram thread. "that guy is not worth his time."

In another Instagram thread, fans applauded the way Nathan handled the situation. "Nathan asked him to move inside. That dude didn’t listen so then Nathan asked him again to move inside. It’s not Nathan’s fault the guy can’t listen," a commenter wrote. But another viewer felt Nathan could have explained the situation better to the guest, writing, “Nathan could have done a better job explaining why it’s a safety issue.”

But most fans agreed that this guest was completely out of line. "Imagine what he was like behind closed doors that girl was smart to leave she knew," one person wrote with another adding, "Oh yeah I definitely think that that is the worst harder [guest] and I haven't even seen that season yet!"

One person wrote that there was probably nothing the crew could have done to make him happy. "All the money in the world can’t find that guy happiness."

Stay tuned to see how Nathan handles this conflict. Below Deck Mediterranean is on Monday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.

Beloved Rock Band Announces 2026 Tour Dates

Tue, 06/23/2026 - 7:30am

Brand New, the highly influential rock band from Long Island, is celebrating a major milestone with a surprise treat for fans.

Following their seven-year-long hiatus, the band continued its comeback with a 2026 tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of their album The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me.

Released in 2006, the record was the band's third album and helped them cement their status as one of the most influential bands of the 2000s.

Twenty years later, Brand New is honoring that milestone with a 16-date tour across North America.

“Brand New 2026 Tour - 7 years + 13 of The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me,” the caption reads, with fans speculating that “13” refers to the album's 12 tracks plus the bonus song “Luca (Reprisal Version).”

At the time, the band, composed of frontman and rhythm guitarist Jesse Lacey, lead guitarist Vincent Accardi, bassist Garrett Tierney and drummer Brian Lane, performed an 18-song setlist that included the live debuts of "Waste" and "Batter Up."

Coincidentally, this was also the location where the quartet played its last concert in 2017 before its seven-year gap.

The hiatus was due to the controversy surrounding Lacey after he was accused of multiple counts of sexual misconduct.

1969 No. 1 Album, Featuring Medley Lasting 16 Minutes, Quietly Re-Enters Billboard Chart 57 Years Later

Tue, 06/23/2026 - 7:24am

The Beatles were no strangers to the Billboard charts, but one of their most iconic albums just made a surprise return 57 years after its release.

The 1969 classic Abbey Road re-entered the Billboard 200 for the week ending June 27, marking its 506th overall week on the coveted album chart. The album re-entered quietly at No. 199, most likely due to a streaming uptick of its tracks, a social media trend, or an increase in vinyl sales.

The final album recorded by the Beatles, Abbey Road was originally released in September 1969 and went to No. 1 in the UK and the United States. Its initial U.S. chart stay ran for 83 weeks, with 11  of them at the number one spot, per the official Beatles website.

Known for its iconic album cover featuring Beatles bandmates John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison crossing a London street in single file, Abbey Road includes some of the group’s most famous songs, such as “Come Together,” “Something,” and “Here Comes the Sun.” The album also famously features a 16-minute, eight-song medley on its second side, starting with “You Never Give me Your Money" and lasting through “The End.”

In a 1969 interview with The Evening Standard, McCartney made one thing clear: “There is no theme to Abbey Road," he said. “There never is a theme to any of our albums, although some people saw one in Sgt. Pepper.”

Most of the songs on the album were written by Lennon and McCartney, but Harrison’s growth as a songwriter was shown with his contributions of "Something" and "Here Comes the Sun." Of “Something,” McCartney said, “This to my mind the best song George has ever written.”

When asked about the B-side medley, known as “The Long One,”  McCartney explained that the suite consisted of unfinished songs.

“We did it this way because both John and I had a number of songs which were great as they were, but which we’d never finished,” he told The Evening Standard. “It often happens that you write the first verse of a song and then you’ve said it all and can’t be bothered to write a second verse, repeating or giving a variation. So, I asked John if he had any bits and pieces which they could make into one long track? He had, and we made a piece that makes sense all the way through.”

Because  Abbey Road was such an epic masterpiece, no one dreamed it would be The Beatles' final recording together.

In an interview with Music Radar, former sound engineer Geoff Emerick noted, "The only hint they gave me, or anybody, was on the album cover, where they're walking across the street. For people who don't know the geography, they're actually walking away from the EMI Studios - or Abbey Road, as everybody knows it now. This was intentional on their part - they didn't want to be seen as walking toward the studio. When I saw that photo, I did think to myself, 'They're sending a message.'”

In 2019, Abbey Road was reissued for its 50th anniversary, complete with newly mixed versions of the classic Beatles songs. Years later, the album continues to attract new generations, as seen by its latest re-entry on Billboard.

1980 Rock Anthem Is Suddenly Climbing the Charts 46 Years Later

Tue, 06/23/2026 - 7:17am

More than four decades after it helped launch Ozzy Osbourne's solo career, "Crazy Train" is still finding new life on the charts.

The 1980 classic has returned to Billboard's Hard Rock Digital Song Sales ranking, re-entering the chart at No. 9. The latest appearance adds to an already remarkable run for one of rock's most enduring songs.

Originally released on Osbourne's debut solo album Blizzard of Ozz in 1980, "Crazy Train" quickly became the song most closely associated with the singer's post-Black Sabbath career. Featuring Randy Rhoads' instantly recognizable guitar riff and one of the most famous opening lines in rock history, the track has remained a staple of classic rock radio for decades.

In 2023, Rolling Stone ranked "Crazy Train" at No. 6 on its list of the 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Songs of All Time.

Related: The Longest-Titled No. 1 Song in Billboard History Topped the Charts 45 Years Ago Today

"Although the song’s lyrical concerns — mental illness, the specter of nuclear annihilation — would have certainly been familiar to Seventies headbangers, the music was sleeker, punchier, and highlighted by the dazzling (and soon to be profoundly influential) shredding of newly minted guitar hero Randy Rhoads," wrote Rolling Stone, adding a quote from Osbourne himself: “I knew [Rhoads] for a very short amount of time. But what he gave me in that short amount of time was immeasurable in f--king greatness.”

Its latest chart return comes less than a year after Osbourne's death in July 2025 at age 76. Since then, fans have continued revisiting his catalog while younger listeners have discovered the music that made him one of heavy metal's defining figures.

The song's Billboard history is impressive. "Crazy Train" has now spent 246 non-consecutive weeks on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart and previously reached No. 1, where it spent three weeks. No other Ozzy Osbourne song comes close to matching that longevity on the ranking.

While Osbourne recorded dozens of beloved songs across his years with Black Sabbath and as a solo artist, "Crazy Train" remains his signature recording. The track helped establish him as a solo star after his departure from Black Sabbath and introduced fans to the celebrated partnership between Osbourne and Rhoads.

The song's influence has stretched far beyond rock radio. Over the years, it has appeared in movies, television shows, commercials, sporting events and video games, becoming one of the rare hard rock songs recognizable even to people who don't consider themselves metal fans.

For many artists, a hit song's chart life lasts a few months. For "Crazy Train," it has stretched across nearly half a century.

Forty-six years after its release, the track is still rolling.

Why Everyone Is Swapping the Mediterranean for a 'Coolcation' Cruise This Summer

Tue, 06/23/2026 - 7:10am

There's a reason a summer trip to the Mediterranean is a classic—few things beat a week parked on an Italian beach with an aperitivo in hand. But as summer temperatures in Southern Europe regularly push past historic highs, some travelers are looking for a change of pace. Instead of leaning into the mid-July swelter, a growing number of jet-setters are opting for dramatic northern landscapes, crisp air and a little more breathing room.

Enter the "coolcation."

If you feel like your social feeds are suddenly packed with people trading Italy for Iceland, it isn't just your imagination. New data from Trip.com Group shows a massive 74% year-over-year spike in search traffic for cooler destinations, proving travelers are actively hunting for an escape from the heat and overcrowded hotspots. Even better? Because summer demand is traditionally lower in these cooler northern locales, flights and hotels can often be way cheaper, making a northern escape a surprisingly budget-friendly option

To get the real scoop on why everyone is suddenly obsessed with heading north, we checked in with David Nikel, a Norway-based travel writer, Scandinavia expert and onboard cruise speaker who has spent over a decade documenting the region. While he admits he was initially skeptical of the term, the data proves it’s way more than just a passing industry buzzword.

"Coolcation simply means a different philosophy of a vacation," Nikel explains. "Instead of the typical European summer vacation, the rising temperatures are forcing more people to consider a 'cooler' climate. But make no mistake, summer in Norway is not necessarily cool! We are experiencing record-breaking temperatures, and days above 30 degrees Celsius (86°F) are much more common than they used to be."

According to Nikel, trading a standard beach chair for a northern itinerary completely elevates your trip. "When you change your idea of what a summer vacation can be, you open yourself up to a lot of new experiences," he says. "In many Mediterranean beach vacations, a beach is a beach. In Norway, there are fjords, cultural heritage, national parks, scenic train rides, evening hikes and kayaking."

Why a Cruise Is the Ultimate Way to "Coolcation"

While exploring Scandinavia by land sounds incredibly romantic, the region’s dramatic geography presents some major logistical hurdles. Remote villages are separated by massive mountain ranges, rental cars are notoriously expensive, roads are slow, and parking at iconic vistas is heavily limited.

That's exactly why a cruise is the absolute gold standard for navigating the region. "On a cruise, you unpack just once, logistics are taken care of, dining is covered and you only have to decide what experience you want in the daytime," Nikel notes. "It allows you to concentrate on experiencing the best Norway has to offer, rather than trying to figure out the best route over the mountains."

Plus, a cruise offers a perspective you simply cannot get from a car window. "Norway cruises aren't just about the ports; the highlights are often the sail-ins and sailaways along the fjords themselves," Nikel emphasizes. "For places like Flåm, Geiranger, and Olden, the sailings through the fjords can be a few hours long—it’s the perfect way to spend an early morning or an evening."

When booking, Nikel urges travelers to read the fine print on the itinerary. "The more actual fjords you sail in, the better. Some mainstream cruise lines advertising 'Norwegian Fjords cruises' only sail along one fjord in seven days, or only visit coastal cities. Cities like Bergen and Ålesund are brilliant, but it's not the same thing as deeply visiting the fjords."

The line is already booking highly coveted summer itineraries positioned directly in the path of totality for upcoming solar eclipse paths over the North Atlantic, as well as their famous late-winter "Northern Lights" crossings. Nikel highly recommends these early spring sailings: "I suggest February and March for winter sailings because there is more daylight and more snow. You get the dramatic Arctic landscapes, dog sledding, and Sami reindeer camps, all under the glow of the Aurora."

The Sailing:9-Night In Search of the Northern Lights aboard Bolette. Departing February 8, 2027, round-trip from Liverpool, England, calling at Ålesund, Narvik, and Tromsø, Norway.

Their Pinnacle-class ships offer a beautifully mid-sized, elegant retreat that avoids the sensory overload of larger vessels. HAL holds a massive advantage in Norway thanks to their historic permission to sail deep into environmentally protected, restricted fjords. The kitchen can feel like one of the hardest rooms in the house to transform without spending a small fortune. In the living room, you can swap out pillows, add a rug, or rearrange the furniture and the whole space feels fresh. But kitchens, they're trickier. New cabinets, countertops and appliances can send your budget into a tailspin faster than you can say "renovation." It's no wonder so many of us look around our kitchens and assume a major upgrade is out of reach.

The good news is that a kitchen makeover doesn't always have to involve contractors, demolition or months of takeout dinners. Sometimes, the smartest changes are the simplest ones. Adding extra storage, creating more prep space, or introducing a piece that looks custom-built can make the room feel more functional without touching a single wall.

At nearly 63 inches wide, it adds a surprising amount of countertop space for meal prep, serving food, or just setting things down when the kitchen gets busy. The wood top and metal frame give it a clean, modern look, while the two open shelves underneath are perfect for stashing everything from mixing bowls to small appliances.

You could either purchase two stools to go on one side of the island for a little extra seating, or use that space under the work surface to store a trash can. Either way, the wood-and-metal frame offers a rustic, industrial farmhouse style that complements a variety of decor aesthetics, not just a country-inspired kitchen.

Keep in mind that this kitchen island does require some assembly, so grab some basic tools (and maybe a friend) to help you out.

Brian Wilson’s Never-Before-Seen Tribute Video Shares Powerful Message: 'Music is God Speaking'

Tue, 06/23/2026 - 6:54am

Brian Wilson always believed that his musical talents were a God-given gift.

To honor that vision, filmmakers Brent Wilson and George Dougherty, with graphics by David Calcano, created a tribute video for the Wilson family celebrating the Beach Boys founder's life. The emotional film was released to the public on June 20, 2026, marking the first anniversary of the music legend's passing.

Following a montage of rare family photos, Wilson shared a heartfelt reflection that perfectly captured the profound role music played throughout his life.

"Music is probably the biggest source of mental and emotional healing that I have in my life," Wilson said in a clip. "I don't know if I have a need to create music. I have inspiration in my life that makes me want to write music."

Parade Daily🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

Heartfelt memories from those who toured alongside Wilson followed, led into reflections from his first wife, Marilyn Wilson, mother of Wilson's daughters, Carnie and Wendy Wilson. She said Wilson was a "pretty far out guy to be married to, let me tell you."

Melinda Ledbetter, Wilson's second wife and with whom he adopted five children, Dakota, Daria, Delanie, Dylan, and Dash, said, he was "the strongest guy I ever met in my life." Ledbetter died in 2024.

"When I go to the piano, I go into a dream," Wilson admitted. "All of a sudden, this melody begins to happen. I say, 'Where is this coming from?' I can't believe it."

Wilson's daughter, Carnie, echoed her father's sentiments in a Facebook video about the "divine inspiration" behind one of his most beloved hits, 1966's "God Only Knows." She said she once asked Wilson, "How did you write 'God Only Knows?' How did you write these melodies?'"

She continued, "He said, 'I didn't write it. God did.' So he's extremely spiritual."

Additionally, Wilson shared his faith in a higher power with former Rolling Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham in 1965. The Guardian quoted Loog Oldham as saying, "One day I will write songs that people will pray to."

The clip's caption explained the reason for the film and how it came to fruition.

"From the outset, [the filmmakers] understood they had been given an impossible task: to capture the beautiful soul of a man whose music helped shape our lives. The longtime Brian collaborators poured through a treasure trove of photographs, filmed performances, and memories, hoping to capture just a sliver of his kindness, his humor, his vulnerability, and the remarkable gift he shared with the world through his music."

The message concluded, "It was an extraordinary honor to help celebrate a life that brought beauty and comfort to millions. It's now an even greater honor to share this tribute with Brian's fans."

‘Ferris Bueller’ Star Mia Sara Reveals Why Her Most Iconic Role Was One of Her Worst Experiences

Tue, 06/23/2026 - 6:50am

Mia Sara may have played one of the most beloved characters of the 1980s, but the actress says her time as Sloane Peterson in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off wasn’t the magical Hollywood experience fans might expect.

In a rare interview, Sara opened up about why she usually avoids discussing the 1986 classic, admitting that making the film “was not that good” of an experience for her. While she recognizes how much the movie means to fans, Sara revealed that she struggled with writer-director John Hughes and the pressures of a career she ultimately didn’t find very happy.

"I'm very aware of what a precious thing this movie is, and I don't want to disappoint people," Sara told The Times, revealing, "I didn't get along well with John."

Sara referred to Hughes as a "strange guy," adding, "He wanted us all to hang out together and to introduce us to the French New Wave films. But the others were seasoned actors, and I was a snotty New York kid and had seen all those movies, so he was frustrated in that desire. I didn't have the emotional maturity to deal with other people's egos, or my own."

In 2025, she told People that she hadn’t seen the ’80s classic in many years. “It’s not really fun to watch yourself. It’s not really fun,” she said. “We did a reunion thing during COVID — there was a reunion thing, which was nice. It was nice to see everybody.” By then, Hughes had already been gone for more than a decade, having died in 2009.

And while she said filming Ferris Bueller wasn't a happy time in her life, she did say shooting the parade scene was fun. “I had so much fun doing that parade scene,”  she recounted. “That was so crazy. Because we would do the dance and then we'd get in a van and they'd drive us blocks away, and the camera would go, and then we'd do the dance again and wait for Matthew [Broderick] to pass. And so it was just this crazy let's catch it as many times as we can. So that was a great moment."

1985 Novel Ranked the ‘Heaviest Book of All Time’ Became an American Classic

Tue, 06/23/2026 - 6:44am

Blood Meridian or the Evening Redness in the West is a 1985 novel written by Cormac McCarthy, who also wrote No Country for Old Men and The Road, which won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. Colliderrecently ranked Blood Meridian as number one on their list of “The 10 Heaviest Books of All Time,” calling it “one of the darkest Westerns of all time, and one of the most violent books ever written.”

Blood Meridian, which has a 4.15 rating on Goodreads and a 4.4 onAmazon, is “an epic tale of the violence and corruption that attended America’s westward expansion, brilliantly subverting the conventions of the Western novel and the mythology of the Wild West.” The novel is widely renowned and was named the greatest book since William Faulkner’s As I Lay Dying by Harold Bloom, an esteemed literary critic.

Related: 1973 Classic Novel Was Denied a Pulitzer for Being Too ‘Obscene’ So No Prize Was Awarded That Year

However, it is not an easy read. As one Goodreads reader pointed out, “The violence in Blood Meridian is gratuitous. It’s both mentally and emotionally exhausting, even in a day and age where television and movies have numbed us to such things. But unlike, say, the movie 300, the violence serves a purpose – in fact, the gratuitousness itself serves a purpose.”

When speaking with the Wall Street Journal, McCarthy was asked about the differences between Blood Meridian and his other popular novel, The Road. He said, “There's not a lot of good guys in Blood Meridian, whereas good guys is what The Road is about. That's the subject at hand.”

McCarthy continued, “I don't think goodness is something that you learn. If you're left adrift in the world to learn goodness from it, you would be in trouble. But people tell me from time to time that my son John is just a wonderful kid. I tell people that he is so morally superior to me that I feel foolish correcting him about things, but I've got to do something--I'm his father. There's not much you can do to try to make a child into something that he's not. But whatever he is, you can sure destroy it. Just be mean and cruel and you can destroy the best person.”

McCarthy died in 2023 at the age of 89. Stephen Kingposted about the death, saying, “Cormac McCarthy, maybe the greatest American novelist of my time, has passed away at 89. He was full of years and created a fine body of work, but I still mourn his passing.”

Reese Witherspoon Finally Confirms 'Big Little Lies' Season 3 Is Underway

Tue, 06/23/2026 - 6:42am

For seven years, Jimmy Fallon has asked Reese Witherspoon about Big Little Lies Season 3. On Monday night, she finally told him something worth sharing.

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote Elle, Prime Video's upcoming Legally Blonde prequel, Witherspoon confirmed that the long-awaited return of HBO's Emmy-winning drama is no longer just a rumor. 'It is in process for sure,' she told Fallon. 'There is a new book that comes out in September and so you'll see where we're at, and we are making the TV show based on that book.'

That confirmation is welcome given where the show stood just a few years ago. When Season 2 wrapped in 2019, HBO president Casey Bloys told TVLine that a third season was simply 'not realistic' as the cast was too busy and the schedules too chaotic to align. Creator David E. Kelley said the same thing at the Television Critics Association tour that year: 'we like our closure at season 2, that will probably be it.' The show seemed finished before Liane Moriarty wrote a sequel novel.

The book Witherspoon referenced is Big Little Truths, Moriarty's follow-up to her 2014 original, set for publication by Penguin Random House on August 25. It picks up the story of the Monterey women a decade later, with their children now in high school and a new threat circling the community. Season 3 was formally greenlit in September 2025, with Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-creator Francesca Sloane signed to write and executive produce. On Monday, Witherspoon fumbled the book's title on air (cycling through 'Big Little Truths? One Giant Lie? Giant Big Lies?' while Fallon laughed), but the underlying message was clear, that the show is moving forward in tandem with the novel's release.

She wasn't done with the updates. Witherspoon also confirmed that The Morning Show Season 5 is currently in production ('I think Jennifer and I are on episode 8 right now'), and revealed new additions to the Apple TV+ drama's cast, including comedian and actor Sean Hayes, Jeff Daniels, and singer-actress Reneé Rapp. Season 5 is the first sinceJennifer Aniston's character returned to the series after a multi-season absence.

The Fallon appearance was Witherspoon's second high-profile stop in a busy week centered on the Legally Blonde universe. She appeared at Prime Video's Elle World fan event on June 20 alongsideJennifer Coolidge, Selma Blair, Ali Larter, Matthew Davis, and Victor Garber, the first full Legally Blonde cast reunion since the film's 2001 release. Elle, the Prime Video prequel series following a teenage Elle Woods in 1995 Seattle, premieres July 1 with all eight episodes. Witherspoon found her lead in newcomer Lexi Minetree after reviewing what she described as 3,000 audition submissions. 'When I saw her video, it was like a lightning strike,' she told Fallon. 'She had my voice down. She had the mannerisms.'

Production on Big Little Lies Season 3 is expected to begin in the fall, making a 2027 premiere the earliest realistic window.

1960 Song About Heaven From a Teen Idol Who Died Months Earlier Became a Tragic Rock Anthem

Tue, 06/23/2026 - 6:15am

“Three Steps to Heaven,” which was co-written and recorded by Eddie Cochran, was released in 1960. Although it didn’t reach the Billboard Hot 100 in America, it topped the charts in the UK and Ireland months after the singer died in a car accident. He was only 21.

The accident happened after the singer performed at the Bristol Hippodrome. His taxi crashed when he was headed to Heathrow Airport to fly home with fellow musician Gene Vincent, his tour manager Patrick Tompkins, and his fiancée Sharon Sheeley, who was a chart-topping songwriter. The other three passengers survived, but Cochran died the next day.

A documentary about Cochran has been in the works for years, according to Deadline. Director Kristy Bell from Goldfinch Entertainment said, “Eddie Cochran is a fascinating talent and musical pioneer with a legacy which stretches far beyond his short life and has served as inspiration for some of the most iconic musicians of rock and roll. With the support of our fantastic partners on the project, we have an opportunity to explore his life and influence for the first time – and celebrate what he meant to so many. He used to sign his autographs off with ‘don’t forget me’ – and with this film we intend to make sure he is remembered for posterity.”

When speaking with Vintage Rock, Bell added, “We find ourselves in a situation where so many people want to speak lovingly about Eddie and share their memories. As a result, our schedule has been pushed back. While I was worried about it a few months ago, I had a little word with myself and thought about how Eddie has waited 63 years for this. I just want to do the best job possible with the picture and showcase this fine man who was taken too soon… if it takes a little bit more time, then it takes a little bit more time.”

Cochran will be remembered as a teen idol who was gone too soon, but he still released several hits over the course of his career. Some of his other songs include “Twenty Flight Rock," "Summertime Blues," "C'mon Everybody," and "Somethin' Else." Some of these songs have been covered by The Who, Led Zeppelin, and Bob Dylan. Paul McCartney even used “Twenty Flight Rock” as his audition song for the group that became The Beatles.

In 1987, Cochran was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Lightweight and breezy, they’ll allow your feet to breathe while adding some summer flair to any outfit. Racking up over 300 five-star ratings, Walmart’s bestselling Crocs Baya Platform Flip-Flop Sandals are a fantastic choice, and they’re currently on sale during its Summer Deals event, which runs through June 28.

Normally retailing for $40, the black and the pink versions of these sandals are now marked down to just $25! These sandals are also available in a truffle brown version and a glittery stucco off-white style, which are currently on sale for $30 and $35, respectively. Sizes range from 4 to 11, and shoppers noted that they fit true to size.

Crocs’ footwear is renowned for comfort, and these flip-flops are no exception. Made of the same ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) foam material as the iconic Crocs Baya Clogs, these flip-flop sandals deliver fantastic cushioning with every step. They have a 1.2-inch high platform, giving you some height and lengthening your legs without compromising comfort or stability. Because the soles include extra foam, these sandals offer more cushioning compared to your average flip-flops.

Designed to make walking a breeze, these sandals keep you light on your feet and prevent fatigue, as EVA is an extremely lightweight material. EVA also does a fantastic job of absorbing shock, reducing the pressure on your feet and joints from the impact of your steps.

These sandals have a curved silhouette and offer great support, which shoppers attested to. A reviewer with flat feet and another customer with Achilles tendonitis both mentioned that these sandals were “supportive” and very comfortable to wear. The foot beds are completely covered with rounded nubs for traction, and the edges are raised so your feet shouldn't slide around. As a bonus, shoppers commented that the nubs feel like a little massage for their feet.

“These are super comfortable for all-day wear,” one reviewer said, adding that “they go with pretty much everything in my wardrobe for summer.” Another shopper noted that they wear these sandals “every day during the summer months.” A third customer described them as “bouncy and durable.”

Summer-ready and easy to wear, these sandals have a breezy open construction that you can slide in and out of within seconds. They’re fixed with a classic Y-strap that sits in between the big toe and second toe, spanning out across the foot bridge. The straps should hold your feet securely in place, and reviewers noted that the post doesn’t feel uncomfortable between their toes.

Doubling as a playful and fun accent, the straps are adorned with a cutout of the Crocs logo and two holes. You can insert Jibbitz, which are Crocs' signature decorative charms, into the holes. They’re a great way to show off your personality and add some flair to these sandals.

EVA is a waterproof material, making these sandals ideal for beach and pool days. You can also wear them for nearly any summer outing, whether you’re exploring a new city on vacation, running quick errands, or grabbing some drinks with friends.

The Ultimate 'Euro Summer' Escape Is This Italian Island Where You Can Sip Wine, Soak in Thermal Pools and Sleep in a Castle

Tue, 06/23/2026 - 6:10am

Just off the coast of Naples, the 2,000-year-old volcanic island of Ischia offers a sprawling, laid-back escape right alongside its more jet-setting and glamorous neighbor, Capri. "The word is definitely out about Ischia and it isn’t quite the secret it was when I first visited, but it still offers simplicity, beauty and authentic Italian charm," says Kathy McCabe, host of Dream of Italy.

According to McCabe, the island’s unique allure is deeply tied to its dramatic topography. "Ischia owes nearly everything to its volcanic origins," she explains. "The island rose from the sea millions of years ago through a series of eruptions, and that ancient fire still burns quietly beneath the surface today. It pushes mineral-rich thermal water up through the rock in over 100 springs across the island, feeding the famous hot springs that have drawn healers and bathers since antiquity."

"Thermal springs define Ischia more than anything else," McCabe notes. "The entire island rests on a volcanic system, pushing over 100 natural springs up through the rock. Some flow directly into the sea and others feed into beautiful spa gardens carved into the hillside." This makes it an ideal destination for wellness-focused travelers. "Travelers have made the journey here to heal since Roman times," she adds. "These mineral-rich waters soothe aching joints, restore the skin and calm the nervous system among other benefits."

That volcanic activity also shapes the island's exceptional culinary landscape. "Volcanic soil blankets the hillside vineyards and vegetable gardens, loading the vegetables with a depth of flavor that stops you mid-bite," McCabe says. "Winemaking on Ischia dates back to ancient times. The Romans actually named the island 'Enaria,' meaning Land of Wine. The vineyards can be found on terraces of the mountainous inland of Ischia, especially on the slopes of Mount Epomeo."

Navigating the Ports: A Day Tripper's Secret

Kathy McCabe / Dream of Italy

There are year-round departures to Ischia from Naples and Pozzuoli via ferry and hydrofoil, alongside seasonal connections from Sorrento, Amalfi, Positano and Salerno. The island features three main arrival points: Porto is the primary hub, Forio is on the west side of the island and the second largest town, and Casamicciola Terme is further north, situated close to fantastic hot springs and beach clubs you can go to for the day.

For travelers looking to escape the typical tourist crowds, McCabe shares an insider strategy. "Here is a hot tip," she says. "If a cruise drops you in Naples, or you find yourself visiting the city and want to do something different, take the hydrofoil to Casamicciola, one of the other ports on Ischia. When I did this day trip, every American in the port had lined up for Capri. I was the only American on the boat to Casamicciola and ended up spending the day at Parco Termale Castiglione."

"Parco Termale Castiglione is just a few minutes by taxi from the port and charms visitors from the moment they arrive," McCabe says. "A funicular carries guests from the entrance at the top of a steep hill down to the main park, delivering sweeping views on the descent. There are 10 pools, eight of them thermal, plus an Olympic-size pool fed by seawater and a private beach. The restaurant serves simple local fare and seafood." The quality of the food left a lasting impression: "The tomatoes were so tasty and luscious due to the volcanic soil that I still dream of them."

Sleeping Inside History: Watchtowers and Castles default

Kathy McCabe / Dream of Italy

When planning an overnight stay, Ischia offers accommodations that double as historic monuments. "On my first trip to Ischia with my mother, almost 30 years ago, we actually stayed in one of the symbols of the island—Castello Aragonese," McCabe shares. "The castle rises from a rocky islet connected to the main island by a stone causeway."

"Most visitors don’t realize they can actually sleep inside the castle," she notes. "L’Albergo del Monastero occupies the ancient convent within the castle walls, above 300 feet above the sea. The rooms feature 16th-century white limestone vaults, terracotta floors and a wrought-iron bed. The chef draws on organic vegetables from the hotel’s own kitchen garden and bakes bread in an ancient wood-burning oven, serving breakfast and dinner on a panoramic terrace carved into the castle walls."

For travelers looking for a high-end resort experience, the island has a definitive hotspot. "Mezzatore is the hot place to stay on Ischia and many of the celebrity names you have seen visiting Italy’s flashier spots have now discovered this luxury hotel and spa," McCabe observes. "Built around a converted 16th-century watchtower on the island’s northwestern coast, Mezzatorre looks out over the calm waters of San Montano Bay. The island’s thermal hot springs feed three water therapy pools and the spa is famous for its fango mud treatments."

Off the Beaten Path in Forio

"On my most recent trip to Ischia last year, I wanted to go a little bit off the beaten path, so I put my rental car on a ferry from Pozzuoli to Forio to visit a sweet, new, little property I first discovered on TikTok," McCabe says. "I was influenced—actually it was videos by the owner on his account had me captivated, mostly because I love a good Italian dream and he had one and made it come true."

"Owner Jeff Di Costanzo walked away from a tech career in Australia after his father passed away, returning to restore his family’s property on Ischia’s western coast into a small boutique hotel," McCabe explains. "The four guest houses each tell their own story. Il Pollaio started life as a chicken barn and now sits as a modern gem tucked behind rosemary and lemon trees. Casa Luisa opens onto a private terrace where the evening sun drops straight into the Tyrrhenian Sea. Casa Rocco catches the morning light through wide windows framing the garden and the sea. Casa Daniele crowns the top of the property with a rooftop terrace made for sunsets and starlit nights. Guests can eat breakfast under a vine-covered pergola next to a lush lawn and fruit trees, and can pick fresh produce straight from the vegetable beds." Rates for the property, Casa Via Costa, start at 175 euros per night with breakfast.

"The island’s most famous hot springs, Poseidon, are just a few minutes away from Casa Via Costa," McCabe notes. "Located on the southwest side of the island at Forio, the Giardini Termali Poseidon ranks among Ischia's largest thermal parks, offering more than 20 pools at various temperatures. The beach setting makes Poseidon special as you can also go right into the sea or lounge on the beach."

Evenings in Sant’Angelo and Secret Shoreline Pools

"A short drive from Casa Via Costa, the village of Sant’Angelo deserves an evening all to itself," McCabe recommends. "White buildings spill down a quaint peninsula to the sea, giving the place an almost Greek feeling at first glance. Stroll the waterfront, stop for an aperitivo, then settle in for a long dinner. Ristorante Il Pirata delivers kitschy charm and delicious local seafood. Dal Pescatore never disappoints either."

To cap off the perfect day, McCabe suggests a unique stop just outside the village. "Stop at Sorgeto Bay on your way to Sant’Angelo," she suggests. "Here, natural thermal waters bubble up through the rocks and meet the sea, warming the pools along the shoreline in a way that no spa can replicate. The experience costs nothing. Just lower yourself in, let the heat work its way through you, and watch the sun start to drop toward the horizon."

Some parents are natural comedians, and others excel at setting an example in the boardroom. No matter what kind of parent you are, raising a child is nothing short of amazing, and you deserve all the credit for every minute you’re showing up however you can. They’re eager to nurture their child’s hearts and spirits with tender loving care, whether that’s expressed through cooking for them, offering extra snuggles, or writing warm and fuzzy notes. 1975 Classic Ballad, Originally Written for a Movie, Became a No. 1 Hit

Tue, 06/23/2026 - 5:43am

In 1975, a Hollywood film inspired one of the biggest ballads of the decade.

When Diana Ross recorded "Theme From Mahogany (Do You Know Where You're Going To)," the song was created to accompany Mahogany, the romantic drama in which Ross starred as aspiring fashion designer Tracy Chambers.

By the end of the year, the heartfelt ballad had become far more than a movie theme, climbing to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and cementing its place as one of Ross' signature solo recordings.

The song was inseparable from the film that inspired it.

Written by Gerry Goffin and Michael Masser, "Theme From Mahogany (Do You Know Where You're Going To)" captured the emotional conflict at the center of the movie, as Ross' character struggled to balance ambition, fame and love. Its reflective lyrics and sweeping orchestral arrangement gave the film an unforgettable musical centerpiece while allowing Ross to showcase one of the finest vocal performances of her solo career.

Mahogany also marked an important chapter in Ross' career beyond music. Following the success of Lady Sings the Blues, the Motown superstar continued to pursue acting while establishing herself as one of entertainment's biggest crossover stars.

"I never really thought of being an actress," Ross told the Los Angeles Times in 2017. "I had people who believed I could do anything I set my mind to — my mother said I was a jack-of-all-trades. Berry Gordy also saw something in me. He believed we could create magic — and we did.

Although Mahogany film received mixed reviews, its title song became an overwhelming success, earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song and reaching audiences far beyond the movie theater.

It also gave Ross another role: costume designer.

"You know, design was my major in school," she told Andy Warhol for Interview Magazine. "I designed all the clothes in Mahogany. I always wanted to be a fashion designer and I learned costume illustration in high school."

The chart-topping single added another milestone to an already remarkable run of success. By the mid-1970s, Ross had firmly established herself as one of pop music's most successful solo artists, following her years with The Supremes. Hits including "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "Touch Me in the Morning," "Love Hangover" and "Theme From Mahogany" helped define an era while demonstrating her remarkable versatility as a vocalist.

Nearly 50 years later, "Theme From Mahogany (Do You Know Where You're Going To)" remains one of Diana Ross' most enduring recordings. What began as the emotional centerpiece of a major motion picture ultimately became one of the defining ballads of the 1970s, proving that sometimes a film’s greatest legacy can be the song it leaves behind.

At $119.99, it is positioned as a statement piece but one that does a lot of visual work. Place it in an empty corner, and it immediately softens the room. Style it next to a rattan storage cabinet or a vintage-style area rug, and it leans into that relaxed, collected aesthetic that feels very resort-inspired.

Why Get a Faux Palm Tree for Home Decor?

One of the biggest reasons people are gravitating toward faux palms is the simplicity. Real indoor palms can be surprisingly high maintenance. They often need very specific lighting, consistent humidity and careful watering schedules. If conditions are not just right, they can drop leaves or develop brown tips.

This Costco version removes all of that stress. No watering. No pruning. No guessing if it is getting enough sunlight. It stays full and green year-round, which makes it ideal for busy households or anyone who just wants the look without the work.

Faux greenery is a home decor trend that has become popular because it delivers instant atmosphere without long-term upkeep. It works in low-light spaces where real plants would struggle, and it is completely pet-friendly since there is no soil or foliage to worry about.

Pair it with warm lighting or coastal-inspired accents, and the whole space shifts. Even something as simple as placing it near a sofa or reading chair can make the room feel more styled.

This Costco home find is an easy way to bring that luxury resort feeling into your home. It is low-effort, high-impact, and built for year-round tropical vibes.

Prince William’s Priceless Nine-Word Comment to Kate Middleton’s Father at the Altar

Tue, 06/23/2026 - 5:15am

Even on one of the most watched wedding days in history, Prince William found a moment to ease the nerves of his future bride and father-in-law. As Kate Middleton made her way to the altar at Westminster Abbey, the future king shared a memorable nine-word comment with her father, Michael Middleton, that has continued to charm royal fans years later, according to the Express.

In 2011, CBS News utilized a lip reader who deciphered exchanges between members of the royal family that would have otherwise gone unnoticed. The hidden gems showed that beneath all the pomp and pageantry of the day, there were genuine moments of warmth, humor, and nervous excitement.

Tina Lannin, who works as a forensic lip reader for police forces and O'Malley Communications, shared her findings with the news outlet. These intimate exchanges gave new insight into the family's relationships.

According to Marie Claire, William kept his back toward his future wife throughout her four-minute walk down the aisle of Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011. Reportedly, this was so he would be the last person to see her before they married, per tradition.

As Kate and Michael reached the altar, William turned to see his bride. Lannin reported that William stated, "You look lovely. You look beautiful."

He then addressed Michael. "We're supposed to have just a small family affair." This caused smiles from Kate and her father, breaking the ice, causing a big smile from Kate that was caught by photographers and the 1900 guests in attendance.

William and Kate's parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, have always had a close relationship. It began while the couple was still college students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

Marie Claire once spoke to former royal butler Grant Harold, on behalf of Heart Bingo Online, who told the publication that William was embraced by the Middletons. Harold revealed, "When I was working with the family, he used to go and spend weekends at their house, which I know he really enjoyed.”

He continued, "They are a warm and welcoming family, and I imagine they gave him some of the normality he craved during his 20s and 30s.” Harold added that William appreciated Carole as a "second mother. He would speak to her when anything worries him, and if he wants advice or guidance. It’s always been the way.”

Prince William and Kate Middleton recently celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary. They are parents to three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

8 Melt-Proof Makeup Essentials for Scorching Theme Park Days, According to an Expert

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Picture this: you’ve gotten all dolled up and ready for your day at a theme park, then halfway through the day, you walk into the bathroom and nearly all of the makeup you put on in the morning at the hotel has melted away because you’re sweating under the hot sun, going from ride to ride. Ladies, we’ve all likely been there, and you know exactly what I’m talking about. But what if I told you I’ve found the secret combination that makes makeup last all day?

As a theme park expert, I’ve tried dozens of makeup products, hoping some would last even half a day under the hot Florida sun as I toured castles and tackled rollercoasters. And after years of testing and figuring out what works for me, I’ve got my theme park makeup routine down to a quick 15-minute morning session that gets me out the door and to the parks on time, and still looking good by dinnertime. Keep reading for my must-haves, plus some dupes for more expensive products. Just know that what works for one person might not work for the next, based on your skin type, but these are the products that work on my combination skin.

View this post on Instagram Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream Use Khiel's Ultra Facial Moisturizer as a base for your makeup.

Khiel's

Every day, whether I’m at a theme park or not, starts with a good dose of moisturizer. I love the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream for its hydrating formula and lightweight feel. I tend to put this on shortly after I get up in the morning, but before I start my regular makeup routine. This gives the moisturizer plenty of time to soak into my skin without causing my makeup to pill later.

e.l.f. SKIN Suntouchable Invisible SPF 35 Sunscreen My favorite sunscreens also double as a makeup primer.

e.l.f.

The e.l.f. SKIN Suntouchable Invisible SPF 35 Sunscreen is my go-to combo product that works as a broad-spectrum sunscreen and a makeup primer. I put this on top of my moisturizer after it’s dried, and really make sure I’ve covered my entire face. It’s fairly lightweight and really holds all my makeup in place all day. Even better, it’s a cheap dupe for the viral Supergoop! sunscreen.

NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Full Coverage Foundation My go-to foundations are always from NARS.

NARS

While you might be thinking a full-coverage foundation is a lot for a theme park, I’ve found that the NARS Natural Radiant Longwear option is buildable, so nothing feels too heavy. It blends easily into your skin, and it gives a beautiful finish. I often blend this with my fingers for a more seamless, natural look because I’ve found that a makeup brush can leave the foundation looking a little too cakey.

Anastasia Beverly Hills

My holy grail of makeup products is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. The tiny retractable eyebrow pencil is ideal for hair-like strokes to fill in eyebrows. It’s also long-wear, smudge-proof, and Florida rainstorm-proof. I put this to the ultimate test at the opening of Universal Orlando Resort’s Epic Universe last year, and it stayed on through water rides and 100-degree heat and humidity. And now it’s got a permanent place in my makeup bag.

ColourPop That’s Taupe Eyeshadow Palette A small eyeshadow palette is all you need for a theme park look.

ColourPop

When it’s time for eyes, I’m constantly reaching for ColourPop eyeshadow palettes. My current favorite is That’s Taupe, which features a variety of matte and metallic options. These don’t crease, and I love how smoothly they go on. The metallic options are also fun to bring a little shimmer to the party.

Tarte

I’ve tried dozens of mascaras over the years, and it’s inevitable that partway through the day, I end up with dark circles under my eyes. That was until I started using the Tarte tartelette XLtubing mascara earlier this year. The smudge-proof and nearly waterproof mascara stays on all day and only comes off with warm water. I put this to the ultimate test at Walt Disney World for a week, and at the end of the night, it still looked as good as it did when I put it on in the morning.

L'Oreal Paris Lumi Bronze Le Stick Soleil Bronzer Stick These bronzer sticks are easy to use and pack.

L'Oreal Paris

Bronzing sticks seem to be everywhere these days, and one that has made its way into my theme park makeup bag is the L'Oreal Paris Lumi Bronze Le Stick Soleil Bronzer Stick. While I don’t use this every time I’m at a theme park, I do love it to glam up for nicer dinners or events with friends. The stick makes it super easy to apply, then I blend everything out with a big kabuki-style brush. The product starts as a cream, so it’s easy to blend, and sets nicely without being cakey. I also love that it’s more glowy than glittery.

MAC

If there’s one lipstick that’s been in my makeup bag forever and I’m constantly buying new tubes, it’s the M·A·Cximal Silky Matte Lipstick. I love the Ruby Woo and Red Rock shades that are classic reds. The formula is matte without being too drying. I often get questions from my fellow theme park friends about what I’m wearing, and they are always surprised when I say this and that I never have to retouch because it stays on so well throughout the day.

After Taylor Swift was spotted wearing temporary sparkly freckles to a Kansas City Chiefs game a few years ago, the trend took off, and now you can find temporary freckles of all kinds across the internet. My favorite ones for Disney are from the small shop ABrittCrafty. The shop offers a variety of themed "pixie dust" freckles, from Star Wars and Marvel, to Mickey and simple shapes (like the ones I'm wearing in the photo at the top of this story).

What do I put everything in? Everything I need for a theme park trip fits into this case.

Rifle Paper Co.

I try to keep my makeup bag separate from my regular bathroom bag so it’s easier to stay organized on a trip. I love my Rifle Paper Co. Travel Cosmetic Case. I love the different floral patterns, plus the top handles make this easy to pull out of a usually overpacked suitcase. Inside, the bag has two large compartments and one small detachable pouch that I usually keep hair ties in.
